My Teaching Style Uses The Facilitator Method Of Teaching
As an early childhood professional, I take pride in educating and caring for young children. My
preferred teaching style includes taking on a hands on, active approach to teaching and learning. Every
day brings new opportunities for me to learn with and about young learners and their families. My
teaching style is impacted by information gained from young children s home life and communities.
My students are engaged and motivated to learn in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment that
enables them to freely explore their environments. My teaching style uses the facilitator method of
teaching. My students are encouraged to use their critical thinking skills, dig deeper, and use previous
understanding to make connections to new knowledge. Gill (2013) notes this style trains students to
ask questions through exploration; it is ideal for teaching science and similar subjects (education cu
portland.edu). As an educator, I intentionally plan and implement strategies to get to know my
students and their families. When new students enter my classroom I ask open ended questions and
have parents fill out surveys that enable me get to know all learners and their families on a deeper
level.
My previous experiences working with young children and their families enables me to be a
successful leader as I strive to accomplish my ultimate goal of being the founder of an early childhood

Descriptive Essay On A Giant Lobster
The Giant Lobster
One day, Dave and his family decided to go on a vacation to Maine like they do every summer. They
lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. Dave loved Connecticut and so did his three brothers, Steven,
Rob, and Peter.
They all packed their bags and got in their brand new car, and headed off. They sang road trip songs,
and played their road trip games. They eventually got bored and just slept the rest of the way. The next
morning, they all woke from their nice slumber and jumped out of the car.
We re here! We re here! Steven yelped as he was running for the cottage..
The boys all ran after their brother with legs like noodles because of their long car ride and long
slumber. They got their swim trunks on so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, he got up off his side and went into the town to get help so he could find his family and get back to
the water. As he walked through town, he learned a lot. He learned that people were scared of him and
that he was scared of humans. He learned that the road gets REALLY hot when it s 90 degrees outside.
Also, he learned how it s really hard to get around when your 11 feet long and can t fit in places like
the coffee shop or the alley ways. As he roamed the streets like a tourist from another country, he
found Dave s parents!
AAAAHHHHH Dave s mom yelled, grasping a pole to steady herself from falling.
This scared the giant lobster, and he tried to grasp the pole too! Unfortunately, the lobster was way to
heavy and the flagpole fell. It was about to hit Dave s dad, but fortunately, the giant lobster grabbed
him gently with his pincers and moved him out of the way. When he was dropped down from the big
blue pincers, he thanked the lobster sheepishly and hid his face. Although they couldn t see it, the
lobster was smiling and in his language, muffled, your welcome!! Off the lobster went to find help. By
this time, it was dark and the Giant Lobster was very tired and he hadn t found anyone to help him.
So, he went back to the harbor to sleep.
Dave woke up bright and early so he could go say hi to the lobster. He walked down the mossy stones
from the cottage, down to the shore. He stopped on the steps and

Financial, Procedural, And Legal Constraints Regarding...
The case analysis will examine potential financial, procedural, and legal constraints regarding
Medtronic s compensation and benefits package. The potential recommendations to change the current
benefits package of the company to address the needed changes to meet the needs of the employees.
The proposed financial analysis will address the organizations fund to support each employee based
on their needs. Furthermore, examine the element of the benefit and compensation per employee to
show quantitative data to support the analysis.
Critical Elements
A. Legal and financial constraints. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will reflect the usage of
reported leave between exempt and non exempt employees. The leave benefits system will emulate
the needs of individuals while meeting their social needs for leaving to take care of their well being.
The commonality will reflect togetherness rather than being treated differently within the company.
By utilizing this equality factor will then foster trust between employer and employee. The fairness
will merit the well roundedness of the human resource practices of the company. Transparency is a
key success for the company to create synergy among the workforce while creating a positive
environment.
The financial constraints for the company will increase for the added benefit for having a unified leave
reform. The extra financial equity will be supported by substitution of the benefits that is
recommended for alterations. The company s

Bonnie And Clyde Essay Introduction
Bonnie and Clyde is a kind of a realistic, drama, comedy, tragic, gangster movie, which was produced
by Warner Bros and directed by Arthur Penn. This movie was released in 1967 and it was based on
real life events. Bonnie and Clyde were two criminals who were traveling around central United
States, robbing banks in the hope of becoming rich and famous. Before they began being partners in a
crime, Bonnie was a hot, blonde waitress who worked in a cafƩ and did not like her job because boys
who came to the cafƩ usually wanted to take advantage of her. On the other hand, Clyde was a young,
handsome, small town thief who was robbing small stores and gas stations for a living. They both
lived in hope to change their old, boring lives.

by this scene, in the distance we see Bonnie s mother who watches her daughter and other members of
the gang. She doesn t say much. When Bonnie was interacting with the rest of her family, a close shot
of her mother s face and her silence shows that she does not approve what they do (Ebert, Roger).
Another interesting moment of the intriguing snapshot of the negative effect for the other members of
the gang is depicted through the young men rolling down a hill. Buck is shown playing with a small
kid on his lap and essentially rides him like a horse. As well, there was a distant shot of C.W. Moss on

Library Access Disadvantages
3.12) According to first amendment every person has a right to express their feelings. Considering the
first amendment, library staff has right to complaint against the library committee to Federal Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission as they were held up with hostile environment. Library is a
public place where various categories of people come to improve their knowledge with available
library resources in a peaceful environment. It is very important for library team to take proper
precautions as children of age below eighteen also visit public libraries.
If the libraries don t have filters and limitations on usage of internet access the library resources can be
misused. So, these kinds of conflicts can be avoided by taking proper precautions and safety measures.
Libraries should have filters so that whenever anyone is trying to access unusual sites in public place it
can directly block the site. The systems should be placed in such a way that library staff can monitor
what people are trying to access and if they notice any unwanted stuff is displayed on screens they can
directly block such kind of users. Library printers should not be accessible by public people. If anyone
wants a printout they need to send document to library staff and only staff system can print
documents. In this way library staff will have access to documents and they can avoid if anyone wants
to print unwanted stuff.
Thus, by taking proper precautions and monitoring the library resources above

Experiment to Determine How Heart Rate is Affected by...
Throughout this investigation, I will be conducting a number of experiments to help solve whether or
not heart rate is affected by exercise. My aim is to identify the difference of every volunteer s heart
rate and take down how old they are so I can evaluate whether or not the age of a person make a
difference in their bpm (beats per minute).
Many people know when you exercise for long periods of time; your breathing becomes more shallow
and quick. The main human organ system used when exercising is the respiratory system. There are
two types of respiration your body can carry out, aerobic, with oxygen, and anaerobic, without. The
reason for getting tired from exercise is because when the body runs out of the oxygen it needs,
anaerobic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exercise I have chosen to do throughout this investigation is skipping (jumping). The reason I
have chosen this specific activity is because I think it will produce more interesting results than a basic
exercise, such as running.
I managed to gather a total of 10 people to help conduct my experiment. Four people for year 9, three
for year 7 and three for sixth form. The reason I have chosen at least three people per age group is
because it is the smallest number of people you can have to find an accurate average. As said, I have
chosen four people for the year 9 age group. This is because the heart rates of the first original three
people varied far more than in the other two groups. I then decided to bring a fourth person so they
could help justify my results and show they are as valid as possible.
There are three variables in my experiment. The amount of time, the pulse rate and the age of the
people. I asked my volunteers to skip for five short but different periods of time. These time periods
varied from 30 seconds to 2 and a half minutes. I asked the people who had volunteered to jump for
the given time, and straight after jumping, count their pulse rate for 20 seconds (which was timed) and
I would then multiply it by three, to give a total of 60 secind/1 minute.
You can see the results fit very well with what was expected to occur. You could see that the heart rate

History of Dth
DTH Satellite TV: Timelines to the Future While today s hot DTH marketplace makes for an exciting
story, this is an industry with a history unknown to most. It is a story of an industry which was never
supposed to exist. An industry born out of the genius of a Stanford University college professor and
publicized by ham radio conversations. An industry that defied all odds to grow from the backyards of
techies and early adapters to today s multi billion dollar first line competitor to the cable monopoly in
America. And, it is the story of an industry comprised of thousands of entrepreneurs who kept the
dream alive during long periods of traumatic political and marketplace upheaval. Come with us now

How did the world find out about Taylor Howard s invention? Well, as an amateur radio operator, he
shared his knowledge with fellow hams around the world. This was backed up with a simple how to
manual on satellite TV published by Professor Howard. As the techies began to grasp the capabilities
of satellite TV, a small group of entrepreneurs moved from hobbyist to businessperson. These pioneers
many operating out of their garages gave birth to an industry which sold approximately 5,000 systems
in 1980. Each of these systems, boasting an antenna 12 feet or more in diameter, fetched a whopping
$10,000. The journey towards the DTH industry of today had begun. 1981 1985 Dish Fever Grows
The DTH industry grew quickly from its modest beginnings. As each new system was installed, the
word of mouth advertising grew for the industry. Obviously the early DTH systems were very large,
thus the simple act of having one installed drew the attention and interest of the neighborhood. Once
non dishowners experienced the diversity of satellite delivered programming (new cable services were
now launching at a rapid pace) coupled with the unsurpassed audio and video quality offered by a
DTH system, the fever began to spread across the land. For satellite TV to move beyond the techies
and early adapters, into the mainstream consumer marketplace, three things

Poetry during the Roman empire played a prevalent role in society along with what was being
discussed and studied around the cities under their rule. However, what is less known are the roles
society and the people played, in what type of poetry, language, and tone were used. Latin poetry,
through symbolism and humanity s ideology, represents the evolution of the Roman era and
government. Latin literature leaves behind a lasting legacy of the culture of ancient Rome. Some of
the earliest works are historical epics telling of the early military history of Rome, followed by
comedies, histories and tragedies. The comedies were the earliest as the Roman empire was strong and
they could have fun because there was nothing to worry about. The tragedies were written during the
collapse of the Roman empire. This is an example of how the people and situations surrounding the

Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
I am writing to you in regard to the Bridger Teton National Forest. I write to you as someone who
believes in preservation. I believe that the forest should be preserved and not conserved. The Bridger
Teton National Forest is a landmark and should be kept that way. It is a place where locals find
solitude in huge tracts of forest backcountry when nearby wilderness areas and national parks are
crowded with out of state visitors. It s also a place that supports traditional, sustainable activities such
as outfitting, guiding, ranching, and recreation ( Wyoming Outdoor Council 2009 2013). All of these
values are being threatened because the forest is being considered for oil and gas development. While
oil and gas may be useful to us, I do not think that the forest should suffer the consequences. The
natural resources should be left alone for everyone to enjoy in its natural state. To upset this would be
environmentally incorrect.
Although Wyoming is a key principal as an energy provider, there are many downsides to

The Modern Theater Audience Loves Glamourized Violence
The modern movie theater audience loves glamourized violence. We want something that takes us out
of our mundane lives and throws us into this fantastic, bad ass scene. We seem to be seeking to fulfill
some imaginative dream, one that has been conveyed in Hollywood classics for generations. You have
Bonnie and Clyde, who made killing a lustful and sexy endeavor, and James Bond who gives an
immaculate style and class to the gunshot. When director Fernando Meirelles fills the scenes of City
of God with gunshots, we experience the same fearful anticipation as our other violent and beloved
classics. However, would an audience member rather fantasize themselves as the girlfriend of a favela
gang member running from the law, or a Bond girl running from the law? Meirelles definitely prods at
the imagination of his viewer, but unlike the usual kill for the sake of killing movie, the violence is a
work of realism. The fact there is nothing spared, the fear I felt that a shot might fire at anytime during
the scene, is someone s reality. In the film, we get to peer into the imaginative space of life for a
young man in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, and the idea the no one would want to fill the shoes of our
hero in this film, is pivotal to the film s societal impact. The adrenaline rush we were looking for has
turned into an empathetic anxiety with a fellow favelado.

Abuse Of Children In William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper
Beginning in the 1670s children were often used as chimney sweeps in England. After the Great Fire
of London, new building regulations were designed to keep the city safer. Fireplaces were required to
be built a certain way, with narrower chimneys; and it became more important to ensure that the
chimneys were free of obstruction after a liberal amount of usage. Since the chimneys were so
cramped, this task was given to children, the only people petite enough to fit inside the chimneys.
Most of the children who were chimney sweeps were often orphans who were apprenticed to a Master
Sweep who would be their boss and take care of them. Consequently, during this time period, the
terrible abuse of children as chimney sweeps became widespread. William Blake was an author during
this time period who realized how horrible the chimney sweeping industry was. Blake was so
disgusted with the industry that he wrote two poems about it, one in Songs of Innocence and another
in Songs of Experience. In Songs of Experience, William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper uses a
critical tone of society to give a voice to social groups who did not have the ability to use their voices.
The Chimney Sweeper begins with a man spotting a child in the snow. The child s parents are away at
church, making him stay in the cold to work and earn more money for the family. In line one of the
poem when the man who spots the chimney sweep refers to the child as a black thing . While the black
refers to the soot that covers this child s body, black is often recognized as a color that symbolizes
death. Hence, when the chimney sweep mentions snow again, and says they clothed me in the clothes
of death, the reader identifies the contrast between the white snow and the dark child. The snow
symbolizes the innocence of childhood, while the dark child represents the darkness of child labor.
When Blake says, and are gone to praise God his priest King God and his Priest symbolize the church,
and the King symbolizes the monarchy. He criticizes the importance of religious obligations that the
parents are more concerned with, rather than their child who is freezing, alone in the snow.
Subsequently, the sweeper concludes by saying God and his priest

Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austin Essay
In reference to the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austin, Austin targets several themes in
correlation to the early 19th century in England. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage.
Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and
prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any
type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual
attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own
true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts
a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender
injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and
norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet. Regaining focus on
Austen s thought about happiness, with respect to marriage or love; the authors position on such topic
is amplified via the characters pairings and doublings and as they shift through the course of the novel.
As we analyze the main characters in the novel, both Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are the main
couplet in which experience significant development as the novel gallops along towards the ending.
Being the second oldest of the Bennet sisters, Elizabeth Bennet, is a

Mississippi Casino Gambling
Casino gambling remains a controversial issue, mostly due to personal and religious views on the
negative effects (gambling addictions) it has on society. However, there seems to be very little
controversy relating to the role the casino industry has in the state s economic and tourism
development. The purpose of the paper is to provide a synopsis of the role Mississippi s casino
industry has played in the state s economic and tourism industry. The report focuses on three
jurisdictions: Tunica, Greenville, and the Gulf Coast. The report supports my theory that the
Mississippi casino industry unequivocally has a positive impact on the state s economy and tourism

Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era Essay
Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era
To be able to appraise the originality of eighteenth century English art, one must recognize its
importance in history. A great painter to research is Thomas Gainsborough. His artwork was an
important aspect of the art community of the middle seventeen hundreds. His paintings seem to bring
brightness and color to a period in art that needed his creative boost. His combination of portrait
paintings along with beautiful landscapes was not recognized in his time, but would be recognized as
remarkable later in history.
Thomas Gainsborough was born in 1727 in the town of Sudbury in Suffolk (Internet 1). He grew up as
the son of a woodworking father and his mother was a teacher. He had 7 ... Show more content on

This did not interest Gainsborough; he enjoyed being able to paint subjects outdoors (Internet 4). He
was fond of drawing trees grass and other objects that would not be found in an indoor studio. He was
not the first to draw backgrounds in his paintings; many have done this before him. His task was to
paint a background that was just as important as the subjects do but not distract either. By painting
outdoors, his paintings became much more colorful that most paintings of the past (Woodall 32).
Brighter paintings were much improvement over the paintings of the past. They were very eye
appealing and much more noticeable. Gainsborough s untrained painter s eye did not effect the
outcome of his paintings; he was painting from his heart. He painted whatever his eyes saw; in most
cases the outcome of his paintings were a perfect mix of background and foreground. People began to
start noticing his artwork even though he did not have a degree or formal education in art; this was
very promising to the young painter. His work slowly moved up into the great artwork of the city. His
name was becoming known all around. He can begin his career with the bright colors he added to the
scenery of the painting.
One superb example of where the colors and scenery effected a painting is in the painting Mr. and
Mrs. Andrews. In my first examination of the painting, many questions were brought up. One question

Julie opened her eyes. Looking around herself with misty eyes, she found herself in a ward. No one
else was in the ward at that moment. The spacious ward was enveloped in quietness. Julie felt her head
heavy with dizziness, as if all the strength had drained out of her body. Questions stacked in her brain:
Why am I here? Why am I here? Yet her intense headache prevented her from thinking hard. Despite
her listless condition, she attempted to sit up in bed, but immediately felt an excruciating pain in her

the unexpected car accident. She could not believe the misfortune that had befallen her, although the
physical and mental pain felt so menacingly real. In the following days, Julie shut herself in her own

most people, however; the idea of moral ineptitude, lack of morals, and mental decrepitude, the mental

mental decrepitude which entraps the author. He is unable to escape because he was worn down and

mental decrepitude and be unable to stand up against the oppressors. Overall, the prison is a mental
state when one begins to accept the ideas forced upon oneself, instead of standing up for one s own
beliefs. This is the metaphor of lack of expression because the author cannot stand up for his beliefs
and is being worn down until he no longer can speak out. The opposition of the free world and a

he convinces the reader with one final statement of what makes a true prison. He proclaims, It is

The Tea Act Of Colonial America
In 1773, British Parliament passed a new act called the Tea Act on Colonial America. While this act
placed no new direct tax on tea, it essentially created a monopoly on tea in favor of the British East

Taxation without Representation is Tyranny. This term, first coined by James Otis, Jr., was an
expression of American displeasure with how Parliament was able to enact new tax laws on the
American Colonies without having a representative from the Colonies to voice the opinion of the

The committee was initially in favor of this offer however, upon being presented to the people, the

Kubler Ross (1969), constructed the 5 stages of mourning where affliction is associated. It includes: a)
Denial and Isolation, b) Anger, c) Bargaining, d) Depression and e) Acceptance. These stages are

The Federal Trade Commission Act
In 1890, the United States Congress passed the first Anti Trust Law, called the Sherman Act, in an
attempt to combat anti trusts and as a comprehensive charter of economic liberty aimed at preserving
free and unfettered competition as the rule of trade. (The Antitrust Laws). Twenty four years later in
1914, Congress passed two more Anti Trust Laws: the Federal Trade Commission Act, which created
the Federal Trade Commission whose aim is to protect American consumers, and the Clayton act,
which fills in any loopholes in the Sherman Act. Ultimately, these three Anti Trust Acts regulate three
core problems within the market: restricting the creation of cartels, restricting the mergers and
acquisitions of organizations which could substantially lessen competition , and prohibit the creation
of monopolies in the market ( The Antitrust Laws ).
The history of the antitrust laws date back to the late nineteenth century, following the end of the Civil
War. This time, known as the Gilded Era, began when entrepreneurs began searching for big profits
from their business ideas. Over time, the small business ideas turned into massive corporations. The
creation of new ideas and a radical shift towards industrialism led to the Industrial Revolution.
Amongst the most powerful corporations during this time were the four that still exist today: John D
Rockefeller s Standard Oil Company, Andrew Carnegie s Carnegie Steel, Cornelius Vanderbilt s New

The Bible and Understanding Scripture
The Bible and Understanding Scripture
The Bible is God s word to His people. Christians are taught to read and study the Bible daily. A new
person in the body of Christ would understand reading and studying just as one reads a regular book
or study material. Often Christians are not taught how to read and study, instead they internalize
reading and studying as memorization of the Bible because most Christians can remember the word of
God without a complete understanding of scripture. When Christians are taught the history of the
Bible and how the Bible should be interpreted, they will be able to understand the message God is
relaying to them. Understanding the Bible was written as an entire literary book will unfold all the

A systematic study of the Scripture to discover the original, intended meaning called an exegesis. An
exegesis is to hear the word of God as the people in the Bible heard the word of God to find out what
was the original intent of the words of the Bible. (Stuart, 2003)
Most Christians unknowingly do exegesis by explaining how people lived in the Bible days and why
we do not do those same things today. Although anyone can do an exegesis it is recommended to seek
the help of an expert when attempting to do a reputable exegesis if needed. Anytime Scripture is read
an exegesis is the first step in interpretation. There many tools to help develop a good exegesis, but the
main elements are to read Scripture carefully and ask the right questions. (Stuart, 2003) The two basic
questions one should ask while reading Scripture are: those that relate to context and content. A good
translation, a Bible dictionary, and good commentaries are great tools for one to use on a quest to
developing a good exegesis. The second task is hermeneutics. Hermeneutics is basically explaining or
interpreting biblical concepts, theories, and principles from the Bible days into today s society.
Hermeneutics is necessary to prevent people from interpreting their own philosophy of the Bible. A
solid exegesis is included in hermeneutics. The exegesis is the first task to ensure the

What does Thomas Jefferson and Amy Winehouse in common? Obviously not the winged eyeliner,

almost parallel when taken out of contexts. Thomas Jefferson s Declaration of Independence, and Amy
Winehouse s, Tears Dry on Their Own, show direct correlations between taking a stand and finding
their independence, and being tired of shady men in their life playing games.
Obviously there s a huge difference between the old english style that the Declaration of Independence
was written in and Amy s suava jazzy tone, but both authors proclaim this sense of self righteousness;

Stonestreet uses many production elements to support his characterisation of Cameron in Modern
Family. The use of space around him, and how much of it he uses has a big affect on Cameron s
movement and interactation with other people and things around. Stonestreet s use of movement
allows us to see the obvious attention seeking personality he has. An example of this is when Cameron
and Mitchell are about to leave the toddler play class but Cameron wants to stay back and do the
parent dance . He runs in with his hands flared outwards, as if he has to conceal his excitement. When
he is dancing he moves around, using all of the space around him and makes a effort to intentionally
bump into people. Stonestreet often also holds a prop, most of the time this is to emphasise the hand
movement that he is doing at that time. This conveys the message to audiences that he is a very people
orientated person who like to go above and beyond and likes to be the centre of attention.
Another obvious production element that Stonestreet has used to create Cameron was his physical
appearance. Cameron s clothing is always very decently assembled, showing that he takes pride in
what he is wearing and is emotionally sensitive when it comes to what other think of

Another is Hobbes argues is that humans are not only self interested but they are reasonable; he
believes people have it in them to be rational when they pursue their desires. Rationality is an
instrument that sums up the best means to whatever ends we might happen to have. As we learned
Hobbes believes men are naturally self interested and also rational so then this means they will listen
to the authority of a Sovereign this way they can live in a civil society that shares a common interests
with them. An argument he uses for this is the State of Nature of men. State of nature is when men are
only self interested so they are more or less equal to one another. Hobbes believes that in a society that
runs off a State of Nature would be brutal to live in, because everyone is always in fear of losing their
life to another person in this state. Since men are reasonable they can find their way out of this society
by recognizing the laws of nature. The laws of nature can show people in a harsh society the means it
takes to escape a State of Nature society and create a civil society. The most important thing to
understand when talking about the laws of nature is that everyone must be willing to pursue peace
while also continuing the right to pursue war only when others do not pursue peace. Being

Section One: Introduction My name is Shankar Pattabhiraman, and I am an incoming senior at New
Albany High School. I will be graduating in June of 2016, and I am thinking of pursuing a chemical or
biomedical engineering major in college, or possibly biochemistry or neuroscience. My career goal is
to become a physician, or perhaps a physician scientist. I am especially interested in neurology related
fields, and this interest has been reinforced in several ways: participating in the 2015 National Brain
Bee Championships competition in Baltimore, MD, volunteering at Riverside Methodist Hospital in
the Neurocritical Care Unit and the Stroke and Brain Center, and helping Tony Hall and his friends
who suffer from neurological disorders and diseases. I chose to study ischemic strokes because I am
interested in neuropathology, both clinically and through research. In addition, through my
volunteering at RMH, I have worked with patients who have suffered from strokes, and while the
symptoms onset is sudden, the events leading up to the stroke are long term but rarely treatable.

palace was used to tell the story of Theseus who slew the Minotaur while being hunted by the creature

which were kept in large jars in the magazine rooms. Furthermore, the palace complex served as a
government building as it had administrative and workrooms on the north and south of the east west
corridor. Interestingly, the palace may have also had an entertainment room as there is a theateresque

Healthcare professionals have been trying to establish western healthcare in Haiti due to the increasing
number of Haitians being infected by AIDS. However, Haitians choose to see voodoo priests instead
of western medical doctors because religion is very important to them and voodoo priests provide the
spiritual healing they seek. The consequence of western doctors not understanding the importance of
voodoo religion in the treatment process is the biggest deterrent to Haitians accepting western
healthcare. Instead of trying to make Haitians change their beliefs, healthcare professionals should
work with voodoo priests to increase AIDS awareness. Undoubtedly, their role as a trusted spiritual
advisor and healer would be used to influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, doctors can learn how to establish a trustful relationship with Haitians by observing
healing ceremonies preformed by Voodoo priests. Through this learning process, western doctors will
begin to understand the importance of non western methods for the treatment of Haitian s illnesses.
According to McCabe (2007), the acknowledgement and acceptance of non western interpretations
and techniques is paramount to the process of treating ethnic minority clients. Since traditional healers
are acknowledged in their community as being a trusted spiritual healer it is critical for healthcare
practitioners to understand the role of the traditional healers in counseling, health promotion and
education.
Given that between 65% 80% of the worlds human population is dependent on traditional and
alternative medicine as their primary healthcare, it becomes necessary that these issues be part of the
discourse on health and healing in the 21 century . (World Health Organization,
2008)
Combining western and voodoo approaches to health and well being will meet the cultural, spiritual
and physical needs of Haitians. It will increase their ability to establish a trusting doctor patient
relationship, and so Haitians will become more open to accepting western healthcare treatment for
AIDS. A successful collaboration between voodoo priests and western doctors will assist in the
progress of obtaining referral s in both directions; this

Romeo and Juliet which takes place in Verona and West Side Story which takes place in New York,
will be two stories one will never forget. There are two settings in the books both compare and
contrast in many ways. Romeo and Juliet is set in Verona, with a more older version and West Side
story taking place in New York city makes it more modern, but old fashioned. In west side story,
Maria, lives with the nurse in a sort of apartment like building, while Romeo and Juliet lives in a old
fashioned place. They both meet and fall in love at first sight. Romeo and Juliet as well as Tony and
Maria both have huge feelings for eachother. They both have a scene where they first meet. In Romeo
and Juliet it is called the balcony scene where they first meet alone and confess their love for
eachother, but in west side story, they meet in a fire escape in front of Maria s apartment as they also

Nontestimonial Hearsay Case Study
Q. What factors from Davis suggest that the evidence would be excluded by the Confrontation
Clause? Hearsay Hearsay is a statement, other than the one made by the declarant testifying in the
court, offered in evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted. Confrontation Clause Under the
Sixth Amendment, Confrontation Clause provides that in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall
enjoy the right to be confronted with the witnesses against him. Here, we must first determine if the
dialog during the 911 call in question establishes a testimonial or nontestimonial hearsay.
Nontestimonial hearsay will be subject to the FRE and falls outside of the scope of the
Confrontational Clause protection. Therefore, the provision of the Confrontation Clause would be
inapplicable. Testimonial Statement Statements are testimonial when the circumstances indicate that
there is no ongoing emergency, and that the primary purpose of the interrogation is to establish

It is apparent that the victim was making the phone call from the place of reasonable safety since the
defendant had left the house. Also, she stated that she was not physically hurt and didn t need any
medical attention. Even though the operator told the victim that the police was on their way to her
place, she expressed her wish twice during the call to get the defendant arrested. Her concerns for the
defendant s return does not give rise to the situation necessarily deemed to be an emergency. These
facts suggest that the purpose of her 911 call was not made in her effort to obtain the police assistance
urgently in resolving the danger that she might have been facing at the time of her call. It was rather to
document the past event. It was for the purpose of reporting the details of the assault that had occurred
just a short moment ago and more particularly for establishing the evidence to arrest

Examination Of Past And Present Ethical Guidelines On...

Ethics of Biomedical Science Research
Ioan Alexandru Beldean
Examination of past and present ethical guidelines on biomedical research
Ethics can be defined as a set of moral values informing one s decisions. But this set of moral values
can be influenced by many different things, such as various cultures, religions, and even technological
advancements. This is called moral relativism, the idea that there are no real truths in ethics and what
is right or wrong varies person by person. That is why before there was any codes or set of rules
regarding what was ethical put in place, people were able to get away with doing all sorts of scientific
research, that would now be deemed unethical. Biomedical research is to be done to eventually better
the health of humans.
Biomedical research has been going on for many years, it is how we have knowledge of many deadly
diseases as well as the discovery of vaccines and antibiotics! These things seem so common today, but
infact went through lots of stages of research to get to the technologies we have today. However,
before 1947, there were no codes of ethics or regulations to ensure that research being done was
ethical. The smallpox vaccination, although the first successful vaccine to ever be developed, would
be considered highly unethical today. Edward Jenner experimented on a healthy young 8 year old boy
without consent. In today s society, this study would never have been allowed to continue. There are

Multicultural Education Essay
Multicultural Education
The inclusion of multiculturalism into schools has become an increasingly hot topic as of late. Being a
future teacher I have taken a natural interest in the topic as well. It seems that most of the push to
incorporate the multicultural issue into the school system has been a reaction to the thought that the
American melting pot metaphor is on the decline. Knowing that the demographics of the United States
is changing continuously, the main issue about the inclusion of multiculturalism is not whether to
place it into the schools, but rather how to position this controversial topic into the curriculum. Many
people think that the incorporation of multiculturalism must begin with the teacher education ... Show

18). Glazer goes on to say that the push for an inclusive system came from the growing number of
black students and black educators in the white school system, where white educators adopted a more
sympathetic attitude towards the idea (Munroe, 2000, p. 19). A recent study by Anita Bohn
documented that the concern of multiculturalism is on the decline among both teachers and
administrators (Sleeter, 2000,p. 156). Bohn stated that these are, ...early warning signs that the
multicultural education reform movement is in peril, (Sleeter, 2000, p. 156). When trying to
understand all of this information, one must understand that multicultural education is not a program
(Sleeter, 2000, p. 156). It is not and cannot be addressed sufficiently by any set of state or national
standards, or by any textbook series, so that it will no longer require our sustained attention as
educators. Multicultural education is a critical forum for reforming schools in ways that support
pluralism and equity, (Sleeter, 2000, p. 157). Basically, these authors are telling us that this subject is
not taken seriously by all, but the real difficulty lies in trying to create guidelines for multicultural
education s incorporation.
Julie Kailin brings about another historical aspect of multicultural education in her article that is how

creation, in this case the Utah Date Center, as they feel that they are feeling a severe violation on the

should consider endorsing a law that seeks to join the government s use of technology to our
Constitutional values. The cause of terrorist attacks like 9/11 tragedy the government has ramped ups

government are able to have assess of people phone call records and text messages but for that reason
that, activists avoid using telephones, instead they use tools like Skype. Which they think they are
immune to interception but they are wrong. Over the last years there has been an industry of
companies who provide surveillance technology to the government, technology that allows the
government to hack into computers. Rather that intercepting the commutations as they go over the

Asian American parents believe in keeping many of their issue within the family which makes them

American and Asian American communities.

(1 2 paragraphs)
The reading material from my textbook aligns with the issues presented in the video on Mental Health
of Native Americans. The video talks about reconnecting adults and youths back into their culture.
One issue is that American Indians have a low success rate academically. American Indian children
often distrust European American which makes it difficult for cross cultural counseling. According to
Baruth Manning (2012), American Indian adolescents will end up being counseled by European
American counselors because there are few American Indian counselors. The video states that there is
high use of substance abuse, suicide, and dropout rates for American Indians. The textbook list

The Center Can Not Hold My Journey Through Madness
Literature Review The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness by Elyn R. Saks For this
literature review, I decided to read an autobiographical novel called The Center Cannot Hold at the
suggestion of my individual supervisor at Sharp Mesa Vista, who said it was the best first hand
account of schizophrenia that she had ever read. The novel tells the story of Elyn Saks lifelong
struggle with schizophrenia. For the most part, Elyn had a normal childhood with loving parents.
However, as early as the age of 8 years old she began to experience some early symptoms such as
intense compulsions, night terrors and even believing that houses were putting thoughts into her head.
At twelve years old she stopped eating properly and lost a lot of weight. Even at a young age, Elyn
believed that there was something terribly wrong with her and did her best to hide her condition from
her family. As a teenager Elyn briefly experimented with drugs and was sent by her parents to an
intense drug rehab after school program which taught her that psychotropic drugs of any kind are bad
and that any personal obstacle can be overcome with sheer force of will. In part due to this lesson that
Elyn learned early on, she spent decades resisting medications outright or secretly reducing her
dosages after agreeing to take medications. This reminded me of the importance of assessing the
meaning behind taking medications with clients. When Elyn went off to college at Vanderbilt, she

  • 4. Descriptive Essay On A Giant Lobster The Giant Lobster One day, Dave and his family decided to go on a vacation to Maine like they do every summer. They lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. Dave loved Connecticut and so did his three brothers, Steven, Rob, and Peter. They all packed their bags and got in their brand new car, and headed off. They sang road trip songs, and played their road trip games. They eventually got bored and just slept the rest of the way. The next morning, they all woke from their nice slumber and jumped out of the car. We re here! We re here! Steven yelped as he was running for the cottage.. Also, he learned how it s really hard to get around when your 11 feet long and can t fit in places like the coffee shop or the alley ways. As he roamed the streets like a tourist from another country, he found Dave s parents! AAAAHHHHH Dave s mom yelled, grasping a pole to steady herself from falling. This scared the giant lobster, and he tried to grasp the pole too! Unfortunately, the lobster was way to heavy and the flagpole fell. It was about to hit Dave s dad, but fortunately, the giant lobster grabbed him gently with his pincers and moved him out of the way. When he was dropped down from the big blue pincers, he thanked the lobster sheepishly and hid his face. Although they couldn t see it, the lobster was smiling and in his language, muffled, your welcome!! Off the lobster went to find help. By this time, it was dark and the Giant Lobster was very tired and he hadn t found anyone to help him. So, he went back to the harbor to sleep. Dave woke up bright and early so he could go say hi to the lobster. He walked down the mossy stones from the cottage, down to the shore. He stopped on the steps and ... The case analysis will examine potential financial, procedural, and legal constraints regarding Medtronic s compensation and benefits package. The potential recommendations to change the current benefits package of the company to address the needed changes to meet the needs of the employees. The proposed financial analysis will address the organizations fund to support each employee based on their needs. Furthermore, examine the element of the benefit and compensation per employee to show quantitative data to support the analysis. Critical Elements A. Legal and financial constraints. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will reflect the usage of reported leave between exempt and non exempt employees. The leave benefits system will emulate the needs of individuals while meeting their social needs for leaving to take care of their well being. The commonality will reflect togetherness rather than being treated differently within the company. By utilizing this equality factor will then foster trust between employer and employee. The fairness will merit the well roundedness of the human resource practices of the company. Transparency is a key success for the company to create synergy among the workforce while creating a positive environment. This movie was released in 1967 and it was based on real life events. Bonnie and Clyde were two criminals who were traveling around central United States, robbing banks in the hope of becoming rich and famous. Before they began being partners in a crime, Bonnie was a hot, blonde waitress who worked in a cafĆ© and did not like her job because boys who came to the cafĆ© usually wanted to take advantage of her. Considering the first amendment, library staff has right to complaint against the library committee to Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as they were held up with hostile environment. Library is a public place where various categories of people come to improve their knowledge with available library resources in a peaceful environment. It is very important for library team to take proper precautions as children of age below eighteen also visit public libraries. If the libraries don t have filters and limitations on usage of internet access the library resources can be misused. So, these kinds of conflicts can be avoided by taking proper precautions and safety measures. Libraries should have filters so that whenever anyone is trying to access unusual sites in public place it can directly block the site. The systems should be placed in such a way that library staff can monitor what people are trying to access and if they notice any unwanted stuff is displayed on screens they can directly block such kind of users. Library printers should not be accessible by public people. If anyone wants a printout they need to send document to library staff and only staff system can print documents. Throughout this investigation, I will be conducting a number of experiments to help solve whether or not heart rate is affected by exercise. My aim is to identify the difference of every volunteer s heart rate and take down how old they are so I can evaluate whether or not the age of a person make a difference in their bpm (beats per minute). Many people know when you exercise for long periods of time; your breathing becomes more shallow and quick. The main human organ system used when exercising is the respiratory system. There are two types of respiration your body can carry out, aerobic, with oxygen, and anaerobic, without. The reason for getting tired from exercise is because when the body runs out of the oxygen it needs, anaerobic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The exercise I have chosen to do throughout this investigation is skipping (jumping). The reason I have chosen this specific activity is because I think it will produce more interesting results than a basic exercise, such as running. I managed to gather a total of 10 people to help conduct my experiment. Four people for year 9, three for year 7 and three for sixth form. The reason I have chosen at least three people per age group is because it is the smallest number of people you can have to find an accurate average. As said, I have chosen four people for the year 9 age group. This is because the heart rates of the first original three people varied far more than in the other two groups. I then decided to bring a fourth person so they could help justify my results and show they are as valid as possible. There are three variables in my experiment. The amount of time, the pulse rate and the age of the people. I asked my volunteers to skip for five short but different periods of time. These time periods varied from 30 seconds to 2 and a half minutes. I asked the people who had volunteered to jump for the given time, and straight after jumping, count their pulse rate for 20 seconds (which was timed) and I would then multiply it by three, to give a total of 60 secind/1 minute. You can see the results fit very well with what was expected to occur. You could see that the heart rate was increasing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, as an amateur radio operator, he shared his knowledge with fellow hams around the world. This was backed up with a simple how to manual on satellite TV published by Professor Howard. These pioneers many operating out of their garages gave birth to an industry which sold approximately 5,000 systems in 1980. Each of these systems, boasting an antenna 12 feet or more in diameter, fetched a whopping $10,000. However, what is less known are the roles society and the people played, in what type of poetry, language, and tone were used. Latin poetry, through symbolism and humanity s ideology, represents the evolution of the Roman era and government. Latin literature leaves behind a lasting legacy of the culture of ancient Rome. Some of the earliest works are historical epics telling of the early military history of Rome, followed by comedies, histories and tragedies. The comedies were the earliest as the Roman empire was strong and they could have fun because there was nothing to worry about. The tragedies were written during the collapse of the Roman empire. • 13. The Modern Theater Audience Loves Glamourized Violence The modern movie theater audience loves glamourized violence. We want something that takes us out of our mundane lives and throws us into this fantastic, bad ass scene. We seem to be seeking to fulfill some imaginative dream, one that has been conveyed in Hollywood classics for generations. You have Bonnie and Clyde, who made killing a lustful and sexy endeavor, and James Bond who gives an immaculate style and class to the gunshot. When director Fernando Meirelles fills the scenes of City of God with gunshots, we experience the same fearful anticipation as our other violent and beloved classics. However, would an audience member rather fantasize themselves as the girlfriend of a favela gang member running from the law, or a Bond girl running from the law? Meirelles definitely prods at the imagination of his viewer, but unlike the usual kill for the sake of killing movie, the violence is a work of realism. The fact there is nothing spared, the fear I felt that a shot might fire at anytime during the scene, is someone s reality. In the film, we get to peer into the imaginative space of life for a young man in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, and the idea the no one would want to fill the shoes of our hero in this film, is pivotal to the film s societal impact. The adrenaline rush we were looking for has turned into an empathetic anxiety with a fellow favelado. A flash of protagonist, Rocket s (Alexandre Rodrigues) camera opens the film. • 14. Abuse Of Children In William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper Beginning in the 1670s children were often used as chimney sweeps in England. After the Great Fire of London, new building regulations were designed to keep the city safer. Fireplaces were required to be built a certain way, with narrower chimneys; and it became more important to ensure that the chimneys were free of obstruction after a liberal amount of usage. Since the chimneys were so cramped, this task was given to children, the only people petite enough to fit inside the chimneys. Most of the children who were chimney sweeps were often orphans who were apprenticed to a Master Sweep who would be their boss and take care of them. Consequently, during this time period, the terrible abuse of children as chimney sweeps became widespread. William Blake was an author during this time period who realized how horrible the chimney sweeping industry was. Blake was so disgusted with the industry that he wrote two poems about it, one in Songs of Innocence and another in Songs of Experience. In Songs of Experience, William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper uses a critical tone of society to give a voice to social groups who did not have the ability to use their voices. The Chimney Sweeper begins with a man spotting a child in the snow. The child s parents are away at church, making him stay in the cold to work and earn more money for the family. In line one of the poem when the man who spots the chimney sweep refers to the child as a black thing . While the black refers to the soot that covers this child s body, black is often recognized as a color that symbolizes death. Hence, when the chimney sweep mentions snow again, and says they clothed me in the clothes of death, the reader identifies the contrast between the white snow and the dark child. The snow symbolizes the innocence of childhood, while the dark child represents the darkness of child labor. When Blake says, and are gone to praise God his priest King God and his Priest symbolize the church, and the King symbolizes the monarchy. He criticizes the importance of religious obligations that the parents are more concerned with, rather than their child who is freezing, alone in the snow. Subsequently, the sweeper concludes by saying God and his priest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austin Essay In reference to the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austin, Austin targets several themes in correlation to the early 19th century in England. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage. Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet. Regaining focus on Austen s thought about happiness, with respect to marriage or love; the authors position on such topic is amplified via the characters pairings and doublings and as they shift through the course of the novel. As we analyze the main characters in the novel, both Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are the main couplet in which experience significant development as the novel gallops along towards the ending. The purpose of the paper is to provide a synopsis of the role Mississippi s casino industry has played in the state s economic and tourism industry. The report focuses on three jurisdictions: Tunica, Greenville, and the Gulf Coast. The report supports my theory that the Mississippi casino industry unequivocally has a positive impact on the state s economy and tourism industry. Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era Essay Gainsborough, A Story of a Painter and an Era To be able to appraise the originality of eighteenth century English art, one must recognize its importance in history. A great painter to research is Thomas Gainsborough. His artwork was an important aspect of the art community of the middle seventeen hundreds. His paintings seem to bring brightness and color to a period in art that needed his creative boost. His combination of portrait paintings along with beautiful landscapes was not recognized in his time, but would be recognized as remarkable later in history. Thomas Gainsborough was born in 1727 in the town of Sudbury in Suffolk (Internet 1). He grew up as the son of a woodworking father and his mother was a teacher. He had 7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This did not interest Gainsborough; he enjoyed being able to paint subjects outdoors (Internet 4). He was fond of drawing trees grass and other objects that would not be found in an indoor studio. He was not the first to draw backgrounds in his paintings; many have done this before him. His task was to paint a background that was just as important as the subjects do but not distract either. By painting outdoors, his paintings became much more colorful that most paintings of the past (Woodall 32). Brighter paintings were much improvement over the paintings of the past. They were very eye appealing and much more noticeable. Gainsborough s untrained painter s eye did not effect the outcome of his paintings; he was painting from his heart. He painted whatever his eyes saw; in most cases the outcome of his paintings were a perfect mix of background and foreground. People began to start noticing his artwork even though he did not have a degree or formal education in art; this was very promising to the young painter. His work slowly moved up into the great artwork of the city. His name was becoming known all around. He can begin his career with the bright colors he added to the scenery of the painting. One superb example of where the colors and scenery effected a painting is in the painting Mr. and Mrs. Andrews. In my first examination of the painting, many questions were brought up. The spacious ward was enveloped in quietness. Julie felt her head heavy with dizziness, as if all the strength had drained out of her body. Questions stacked in her brain: Why am I here? Why am I here? Yet her intense headache prevented her from thinking hard. Despite her listless condition, she attempted to sit up in bed, but immediately felt an excruciating pain in her left leg. Aspiring to be a gymnast when she grew up, Julie joined the gymnasium team in her school and had been elected the team captain for her excellent performance. Now her dream was shattered by the unexpected car accident. She could not believe the misfortune that had befallen her, although the physical and mental pain felt so menacingly real. In the following days, Julie shut herself in her own resentment, refusing to see anyone who came to the hospital to visit her. She resented being the only victim of the mad car; she resented being unable to lead a normal life; she resented being called the handicapped instead of the usual sports star ; she resented the wheelchair, the medicine, the confinement of the ward with indifferent white walls. Most of all, she resented being weak, for pride used to be her distinctive characteristic. Life resumed its monotony. While this act placed no new direct tax on tea, it essentially created a monopoly on tea in favor of the British East India Company. This act enraged Colonists and merchants and revived the old American idiom Taxation without Representation is Tyranny. This term, first coined by James Otis, Jr., was an expression of American displeasure with how Parliament was able to enact new tax laws on the American Colonies without having a representative from the Colonies to voice the opinion of the Colonists. (The Antitrust Laws). Twenty four years later in 1914, Congress passed two more Anti Trust Laws: the Federal Trade Commission Act, which created the Federal Trade Commission whose aim is to protect American consumers, and the Clayton act, which fills in any loopholes in the Sherman Act. The history of the antitrust laws date back to the late nineteenth century, following the end of the Civil War. The creation of new ideas and a radical shift towards industrialism led to the Industrial Revolution. I will be graduating in June of 2016, and I am thinking of pursuing a chemical or biomedical engineering major in college, or possibly biochemistry or neuroscience. My career goal is to become a physician, or perhaps a physician scientist. I am especially interested in neurology related fields, and this interest has been reinforced in several ways: participating in the 2015 National Brain Bee Championships competition in Baltimore, MD, volunteering at Riverside Methodist Hospital in the Neurocritical Care Unit and the Stroke and Brain Center, and helping Tony Hall and his friends who suffer from neurological disorders and diseases. I chose to study ischemic strokes because I am interested in neuropathology, both clinically and through research. In addition, through my volunteering at RMH, I have worked with patients who have suffered from strokes, and while the symptoms onset is sudden, the events leading up to the stroke are long term but rarely treatable. Section Two: Background Ischemic stroke is the blockage of blood vessels in the brain as a result of blood clots (thrombi), causing the portions of the brain nourished by the vessel and its tributaries to be starved of nutrients, poisoned, and to eventually die ( Symptoms ... A recent study by Anita Bohn documented that the concern of multiculturalism is on the decline among both teachers and administrators (Sleeter, 2000,p. 156).
