Nonpermanent Members Of The United Nations
On October 24, 1945, the five victors of World War II assembled in San Francisco to draft a document
called the Charter of the United Nations, which outlined the laws of the United Nations. This charter
created six different branches of the UN. One of the six organs was the UN Security Council. The
Security Council was assigned the task of ensuring that international peace and security is maintained.
The SC consists of fifteen total members whom are also members of the United Nations. The Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics, the Republic of China, the United States of America, the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and France act as the five permanent members of the United
Nations because they were the original victors of the Second World War. The remaining ten
nonpermanent members of the UN are elected by the General Assembly for a two year term. Each
member of the UN Security Council is allowed only one representative.
Diving more in depth about how the UNSC ensures that international peace and security is
maintained, it is important to understand how the Security Council operates. The charter states that,
the Security Council shall act in accordance with the purposes and principle of the United Nations.
(Article 24) When it comes to the topic of voting, decisions of the Security Council procedural matters
shall be made by an affirmative vote of nine members. (Article 27) The Security Council has the

Muslims Women’s Rights to Practice Their Religion Essays
There is a huge controversy about the hijab in some countries; France, Turkey and Tunisia are the
most recognized countries in banning the hijab. France is not like other countries that allow the hijab;
it rejects the whole idea of wearing headscarves. France bans Muslim women who wear the hijab from
going to schools or even having jobs. In the Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran, women are
forced to wear head scarves. Other countries like Turkey and Tunisia ban whoever female works in the
education field from covering her head. The hijab is a symbol of being Muslim, and it should it be left
to the Muslim women to wear it or not.
French, Turkish, and Tunisian should ask themselves the question, why do we have Muslims here?

That does not mean that Islam makes discrimination between the two genders like the French think.
They have to be liberated from these ideas. The wearing of the hijab is the equivalent of someone
walking with a sandwich board proclaiming that men and women are not equal, said Sandrine
Mazetier, a Paris deputy who handles immigration for the Socialist Party in the National Assembly
(Sachs 2). How can important and educated people in France think like this ignorant way? Islamic
scholars think it s enough to wear modest clothes. It s acceptable to wear headscarves, but not going
beyond that and wearing naqib or burqa.
France also discriminates against Muslim women who wear the hijab. They do not allow them to enter
schools. They put this law of banning the hijab in 2994 law prohibition inside schools (Esposito 265).
On the other hand, they permit other religious people to practice their religions. They allow Roman
Catholic students wearing a crucifix, Protestant students wearing a cross, Jewish male students
wearing a skullcap (Muslim Headscarves 1). This law is not only for schools, but also for jobs. They
dismiss these Muslim women from their jobs. This law has impacted their families. Some of these
women do not have fathers, brothers, or husbands to help them get money. In this case, they have to
work to feed whoever they are responsible for. Where are human rights that France always talks

Eudora Welty s A Worn Path
Eudora Welty s A Worn Path portrays an elderly woman, Phoenix, who endures a regular, strenuous
journey into town to receive medicine for her grandson from a charitable pharmacy. She encounters
difficulty aroused by nature and disapproving townspeople but triumphs and succeeds her goal. The
use of characterization and symbolism creates A Worn Path by representing a strong and significant
protagonist, as well as offering a symbolic meaning of life and courage when faced with love. The
short story contains many elements of literature, but characterization and symbolism are two that
make the story relatable and enjoyable and give off a sense of comfort and empowerment through
Phoenix. The element of characterization is evident all throughout A Worn Path. Welty indirectly
portrays Phoenix as a courageous, strong willed woman. While the author never blatantly states that
Phoenix has strength or courage, the traits are revealed as she experiences trial and distress while
doing what she is convinced as saving the life of whom she considers her only family. Phoenix is
described as an aged, frail woman journeying through a brutal, winter day. Most people her age would
not successfully complete such missions, though the author assigned meaning from the character
being used for the particular task. Aside from Phoenix s physical quality, she is shown to have a
peculiar mentality throughout the story. Phoenix regularly sees objects and figures that are unrealistic
or incomprehensible.

Comparing Republic And Plato s Republic
The central idea of both philosophers writing is that the citizens of a state should preserve good, and
act justly and fairly, and their rulers should abide by the rules and regulations of the state and treat
their fellow citizens in the same way. Both philosophers claim that being good and doing good leads
to happiness the ultimate good in human life and a life connected with money, pleasure, and all sorts
of materialistic possessions is an unrealistic life. This paper will outline and further elaborate the
major similarities and differences between the way these philosophers perceive the philosophical
anthropology and the political philosophy based on their time, context, and the society.

harmony with each other through persuasion or compulsion and through sharing the benefits with each

Frailty In Geriatric Patients
While various objective tools have been validated for assessing frailty in the geriatric population,
these are often unsuitable for busy clinics and mobility impaired patients. Although we have
developed the Frailty Meter (FM) using two wearable sensors for frailty assessment during a 20
second repetitive elbow flexion and extension task, there is a dearth of information regarding an
automatic algorithm for identifying frailty with a practicality for mHealth application. In this study,
we proposed a practical wrist type FM based on a wearable inertial sensor with an optimal algorithm
for assessing frailty regardless of patients information including age, gender and body mass index.

What Is The Theme Of Justice In Dante s Inferno
Nichamon Roongroj

The Inferno of Dante
In the Fourth Circle of Hell, Dante encounters those who have been condemned to the inferno for
reasons of greed. In this Fourth Circle, once again Dante s use of contrapasso is apparent with the
punishment assigned to the greedy. These people have lived a life on Earth that was constantly
distinguished by their avarice. Thus, such individuals hoard their wealth in an effort to merely
accumulate material goods. They are not concerned with any type of use of these goods, but instead
simply attempt to multiply them, in line with the logic of greed. For the avarice person, it is the
constant acquisition and storage of material goods, such as money, which dominates ... Show more

For instance, the flatterers are forced to eat excrement in hell because their words are meaningless. In
Canto III, the first seven lines read, through me you enter into the city of woes...justice moved my
high maker, in power divine, wisdom supreme which suggests that God created Hell for justice. Many
of the sins mirror the actions on Earth to create a balance. The sinner receive punishment that befits
their sin. Dante, speaking from a Christian perspective, upholds that a concept of justice is central to
the faith. When the human being sins he commits a transgression, which must be paid for in the
afterlife: if there was no punishment, there would be no justice, since every human being, regardless
of how they lived their life, would be treated the same. These punishments reflect justice in this sense,
and also in the specific sense of how each punishment suits a specific sin. Without punishment,
without a sense of justice, it would show a God who essentially does not care how people have lived
their lives. And in this sense, it is also love: precisely because through justice God does show that he
cares about how human beings have conducted themselves and does pay attention to the actions of
human beings and recognizes ethical

Art Spiegelman Analysis
Throughout time, the world and its history has seen the ravages of a superiority complex based upon a
certain race or religion deeming themselves better than everyone else. No one war, race or religion has
ever come out on top nor has anyone been entirely unaffected by the oppression this superiority
complex has caused.
Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It shows Spiegelman conversing with
and recording what his father says about what he lived through being a Polish Jew and Holocaust
survivor. The graphic novel uses postmodern techniques in its representation of races of humans as
diverse animals: the Jews are characterized as mice, the German soldiers as cats, and the non Jewish
Poles are seen as pigs. Maus can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spiegelman s father was treated inhumanely because of his religion while Washington was treated
unfairly due to the color of his skin. Both men wrote about what happened and how they chose to rise
above their persecution and the injustice of how they are being treated instead of being walked all
over. Vladek says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and poured again so
everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the Nazi brutality towards
the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews, treating them like animals. They strip
them of any semblance of their humanity, even in death. They burned the bodies disrespectfully, and
then took what was left to burn the others. Each account of these authors harsh lives is about
something that they cannot control being hated for: color of skin and religious choice. Both authors
use their past experiences to show how racism and religious persecution affect a person long after the
fact. While reading Maus, the reader moves through several different time periods: the pre Holocaust,
the actual Holocaust, and the post Holocaust. Maus interweaves the past and present, the different
subject histories of each character, and the very different cultural contexts of a Nazi occupied Poland
versus Rego Park, New York in the present where Art is

The Dialectic of Metafiction and Neorealism in Calvino s Baron in the Trees.
I agree to my books being read as existential or as structural works, as Marxist or neo Kantian,
Freudianly or Jungianly: but above all I am glad to see that no one key will open the lock .
The above quotation perhaps shows more than anything else the ambiguity of Calvino s works. The
obsession to label all narratives arises from our compulsion to make sense of this world, as literary
generic categories form part of our cosmologies. Calvino s work however, eludes us by drawing upon
multifarious techniques and images to create a narrative that defies all generic conventions.

Instead, these two antithetical elements work to create a symbiotic relationship, marked by a tenuous
balance which Calvino maintains in his fiction.
I shall first begin by examining the notions of metafiction and neorealism, looking at what these
genres entail, and how they would conventionally work in a narrative. Subsequently, I will then go on
to show how these two notions create the dialectic between fairy tale and realism in Calvino s Baron
In The Trees , thereby examining the reason underlying one of the most significant disputes over the
genre of his work. I will then look at the ways in which Baron In The Trees may be considered as
metafictional and also as neo realist. Consequently, I will then proceed to the various ways in which
this dialectic manifested, as well as the means by which Calvino maintains a tenuous balance these
two contrasting elements Lastly I will examine the reasons why the Calvino short story belies this
dialectic of contrasting elements.
Metafiction is fiction that draws attention to its own fictional status, and in doing so it acknowledges
no reality other than the one we construct for ourselves. In attempting to escape from the constructed
realities of language and signs, it seeks also to dispel our illusions of being able to portray reality in art
and in novels. Thus, by drawing attention to its fictionality,

Care and Maintenance for Painted Concrete Walls
A concrete wall is like an empty canvas. You have the opportunity to transform it into a beautiful work
of art.
When you think of concrete walls, what typically comes to mind are images of plain, grey and drab
looking surfaces. But when you add colour to the equation, the walls will look far from dull or boring.
Painting your concrete walls can freshen up the look and add a bit of interest to your home. A coloured
concrete wall will make your house more beautiful and inviting. It will not only enhance the aesthetics
of your home, but also improve the value of your property.
Here at Pridal Services, our expert house painters in Adelaide excel in what they do. Every home we
paint is treated with the care and professionalism that we would expect in our own homes.
We aim to help homeowners create beautiful dwellings (that they can be proud of). In line with that
commitment, we give you these useful home improvement tips. Read on and learn how to care for and
maintain painted or coloured concrete walls to keep it in excellent condition.
Clean Keeping painted concrete walls clean is fairly simple as long as no stubborn dirt or grime has
clung to the surface. Simple practices such as sweeping off dust, leaves or grass, and removing spills
from surfaces should be done regularly. Using water, non metallic scrub or brush and a dishwashing
liquid is often enough to keep it clean. Also avoid using solvent or chlorine based cleaners as these
may cause the colours to fade.

The Gentle Art of Web Pages For the last millennium, adventurous souls have been accessing new and
unfamiliar frontiers in search of adventure and a taste of the exotic. The last decade ushered in with it
an appeal to the more intrepid members of this small group of people: The Internet. Access to this
particular medium has hit an all time high in the 1990 s, and every tekkie has his own celebration of
self occupying space on it. However, not all of the sites on the Internet are shameless celebrations of

importance that they play in a creative web page. The pictures used by Sci Fi Channel: The Dominion,

Reflection On The Long Chain Reflection
Connects: The Long Chain Reflection In the movie, I thought the story of the chain of events leading
to the various chemical discoveries was very interesting. For most of the discoveries, It was not a
straightforward process in which the intention behind the formation of the new product coincided with
its practical use. There were a lot of discoveries made for one purpose, but ended up being
implemented for a different purpose. Not only that, but there were several products which led to
subsequent discoveries in completely unrelated fields. I thought it was interesting how the history of
the development of polymers began with the intention of creating a protective coating for the hull of
cargo ships, and eventually gave way to products like, clothing dyes, alternative forms of light,
fertilizers, etc.. Throughout the movie, it seemed that when a need emerged in the world, the chemists
of the time went about trying to find a solution. This then created a domino effect because once one
need was met, it would usually affect something else, creating another need to fulfil. For example, the
color dye industry boomed in Germany because of the discovery of the first artificial aniline dye by
William Perkin. This was followed by a growth in the population. The growth in population caused a
food crisis, which needed to be solved by the invention of fertilizer. As a result, calcium carbide and
the Haber Bosch process were invented. The product from the Haber Bosch

As one of the Canada s greatest leaders, Pierre Elliot Trudeau brought change that would change
Canada forever in a positive manner. Although it can be argued that Trudeau s behavior was

was superior. He was inspired to change Canada and make it a better place to live. He did so by

much more diverse and equal place. It also promotes respect for peoples distinct cultural identity.
Implying multiculturalism to Canada was one of Trudeau s greatest accomplishments. Pierre Trudeau
was a leader who not only brought change by bringing new laws to Canada, but he changed the way
people viewed other laws. Trudeau listened to the majority, but also protected the rights of the

Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada

many cases. As in the FLQ crisis, Trudeau declared a brief period of Martial Law using the War

Concert Intime Is A Wonderful Dance Performance
Concert Intime is a wonderful dance performance which was held in April 9, 2016 at Chapman
University. Two directors Alicia Guy and Liz Maxwell, professional choreographers, and talented
Chapman students brought audiences an intimate and colorful evening with seven performance pieces.
They were Innumerable, Metamorphosis, Children of the Drum, All as One, and And the Winner Is. In
each piece, audiences could enjoy a unique story in the past or modern life and a great combination of
customs, light, music, and body languages. The first performance piece was Innumerable
choreographed by Cristina McKeever. It was based on the famous documentary Numbered by Danna
Doron and Uriel Sinai. The story is about Auschwitz prisoners in the concentration camps. Regardless
of religion, all these people were tattooed on their arms or chests with serial numbers. There are
approximately 400,000 prisoners in Auschwitz, but only some several thousand survivors are still
alive today. In order to attract the audiences, the piece started with a woman s voice speaking the
quotation of Primo Levi, one of the survivor in Auschwitz, With time, my tattoo has become a part of
my body. I do not display and do not hide it. I show it unwillingly to those who ask out of curiosity,
readily and with anger to those who say they are incredulous. Eight dancers then appeared and danced
in groups as well as in pairs and alone. Especially, they displayed a lot of run motions in order to
portray the Auschwitz

The Butterfly Circus And The Butterfly Circus
This essay is about what human dignity and how it relates to the butterfly circus. When it comes to
people and human dignity some people do not realise what it is. The butterfly circus is a circus where
human dignity what the circus is based on. People do what they want to they find the right place to do
it, and they do it at the butterfly circus where anyone can be anything, and they can be themselves
(who they truly are). In the butterfly circus, Mr Mendez says that the butterfly circus is made up of
people who haven t had much dignity in their lives (e.g. they get rejected from their previous work

Would you make other people have their dignity restored? Do you have dignity in you?
Lies are one of the major things in which affects this world of wonders, the young and old do it even
you do it yourself. Everyone tells lies every now and then, but if people believe in every lie that is said
to them then they would forward those lies onto other people. When Mr Mendez sees the (freak) side
show and once he arrives at Will s section (which has curtains covering him); the things that the
showman said about Will is horrifying and is a lie. Will believed everything that the showman said;
the showman said God himself has turned his back on him and this next thing has been cursed since
birth . No one should be expressed like that. When someone is expressed like that it affects the victim
and the victor; they both get a bad influence on each other. How often do you tell lies? How often do
you tell the truth?
When you think that human dignity is already in this world but when you think about all of the bad
things which are happening you realise that people aren t being treated the way that they should be;
people lie (about how their thinking), they think that everything is impossible because of the lies, and
the people who are treated the way they should are hoping to make others happier and a difference to
this world. If people get treated equally then bad

Classification Manual For Voice Disorders
The voice is an individual s main mode of communicating his or her wants, needs, and emotions
among other things. Each individual s voice is different, depending on whether the individual is male
or female, and ranges in pitch and loudness. The voice is something that defines an individual as a
person by helping shape the person s overall personality and attitude. However, there are many factors
that may cause an individual s voice to be affected. According to Verdolini and colleagues (2006), the
Classification Manual for Voice Disorders I describes seven distinct causal classifications which
include laryngeal problems related to structural (1) pathologies, (2) inflammatory conditions, and (3)
trauma or injury; (4)systemic conditions, (5) nonlaryngeal aero digestive disorders, (6) psychiatric
psychological disorders, and (7) neurological disorders . Due to such a broad definition of what a
voice disorder is, it is difficult to determine the incidence and prevalence of voice disorders. Most
normative data includes information on individuals with occupations that require them to use their
voice more than the average person, such as teachers, speech pathologists, and even singers (Boone et
al., 2014). The purpose of this paper will be to provide background information on one causation of a
neurological voice disorder vocal fold paralysis, describe the diagnostic process for assessing a voice
disorder, and describe the treatments available for the types of vocal fold paralysis.

Child Custody Battles
Custody battles over the child or children can bring the worse out of the mother and father but the
parents do not have to be the biological parent to get custody of that child. Fighting custody over a
child could cause a lot of tension between the parents but some custody battles can be beneficial for
the child if the child is getting abused mentally, physically or verbally. From my research when
dealing with child custody there are four different types of issues and those four have incommon is
that it s a custody battle over a child or children. The first type is legal custody where the parent has
the right to make decisions about the child s upbringing, The second type is physical custody where

Emerson s Self Reliance
R.W. Emerson s Self Reliance The essay has three major divisions: the importance of self reliance
(paragraphs 1 17), self reliance and the individual (paragraphs 18 32), and self reliance and society
(paragraphs 33 50). As a whole, it promotes self reliance as an ideal, even a virtue, and contrasts it
with various modes of dependence or conformity. Self Reliance Paragraphs 1 17. The Importance of
Self Reliance. Emerson begins his major work on individualism by asserting the importance of
thinking for oneself rather than meekly accepting other people s ideas. As in almost all of his work, he
promotes individual experience over the knowledge gained from books: To believe that what is true in
your private heart is true for all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The metaphor of a corpse as the receptacle of memory is a shocking—but apt—image of the individual
who is afraid of contradiction. In this vivid image of the corpse of . . . memory, Emerson asks why
people hold onto old beliefs or positions merely because they have taken these positions in the past.
Being obsessed with whether or not you remain constant in your beliefs needlessly drains energy—as
does conformity—from the act of living. After all, becoming mature involves the evolution of ideas,
which is the wellspring of creativity. It is most important to review constantly and to reevaluate past
decisions and opinions, and, if necessary, to escape from old ideas by admitting that they are faulty,
just as the biblical Joseph fled from a seducer by leaving his coat in her hands, an image particularly
potent in characterizing the pressure to conform as both seductive and degrading. Noteworthy in this
discussion on consistency is the famous phrase A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
The term hobgoblin, which symbolizes fear of the unknown, furthers the effect produced by the corpse
of memory and reinforces Emerson s condemnation of a society that demands conformity. Citing
cultures that traditionally frown on inconsistency, Emerson points out that history s greatest thinkers
were branded as outcasts for their original ideas—and scorned as such by their peers.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Euro
The European Union is not perfect. It has its own weaknesses and faults as well. Therefore, now I
would like to write a short description about the mistakes of the monetary union. Then I put a question
to all of us if the Eurozone, and especially the Euro, need to be reformed after the last years
experiences. Finally at the end of this subsection I briefly summarize the negative effects of the crisis
on the EU as a single currency area.
First of all, there is some structural mistake which should be corrected. For instance, there were a lot
of real estate price bubbles and credit bubbles among the countries in the periphery of the Union
because of cheap credits. The Eurozone had no proper institutional background to predict the
consequences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, in connection with this topic, I would like to bring up the example of Sweden just in
very briefly. Sweden has had the opportunity to adopt the Euro since 2006 but they have not
introduced it yet. Their government supports the idea of that the main and last judgement should be
done by the population but they are waiting for the proper time for the referendum. This kind of
behaviour could be experienced in Hungary too, probably in order to profit from the process as much
as we could. Therefore, the next question is: What if this behaviour could make negative effects on
other countries, for example on Hungary, and influence them towards denying the Euro? However, we
can see on Figure 14 that most of the people in Hungary want to introduce the single currency
according to that opinion poll. Hence, it seems that temporarily we do not want to follow the way of
the northern country. In addition, recently Sweden does [also] not have a target date to adopt the euro
just like Hungary. Anyway, our government has a lot to do (e.g. implementing all the convergence
criteria) up to that time we could think about this decision whether the best solution is for

My Philosophy And Philosophy Of Personal Educational...
It is true that many educators do not know what their educational philosophy is. However it is
imperative for educators and future educators to know their personal educational philosophies so that
they can be accountable, explain how they teach, what they are doing and why. My personal
Educational philosophy is made up of four components; metaphysics, epistemology, axiology, and
logic.
My educational Philosophy Metaphysics (reality) is a combination of realism and idealism, that the
mind, spirit, and body are connected and that they should and must work together. God is the father of
the universe. He created it for his spirit children who he loves and communicates with on a daily basis.
Individuals are spirit sons and daughters that God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When students are encouraged to tutor their peers and younger students, their own learning is
enhanced. Going out into the community to learn about subjects coupled with reading about them in
books is a powerful learning tool as well. Once students are in the community and aware of what the
community needs, students should be encouraged to take some action or responsibility in planning for
a change. I am an advocate of behaviorism. Educators should discourage poor behaviors and
encourage appropriate behaviors as well as teach new behaviors. Students are capable and should be
involved in creating rules for the classroom. Education should encourage cooperation and teach
decision making skills. School should be a place of molding (without forcing) children into good
citizens that will contribute to the community in a positive way.
My Educational Philosophy consists of bits and pieces of many of the philosophies because most of
the philosophies included components I would not or could not include in my own. None of the
philosophies metaphysics matched my own, so I combined the metaphysics of realism and idealism
because Idealists believe that the spirit and mind are the only reality, where realists believe that the
body or matter is more real than the mind. I believe that the mind and spirit and body are a unit and
must work together for the common good. I think that the curriculum of

The Clash of Faith and Evidence
The Clash of Faith and Evidence History has shown that in the past, religion dominated as an
explanation of knowledge and was used to explain many of the world s mysteries such as why the sun
rises and sets and how the world came to be. Science, using concrete and tested evidence, gave light to
many of these mysteries and debunked the myths created from religion. In today s modern society,
science has advanced in a remarkable fashion. Science has broken down objects into structured
molecules, found the genetic code that makes up an individual s DNA, and it even found a way to
clone a sheep. Scientists of today are beginning to tread into territories that, some would argue, border
along the lines of God s work. With science progressing the way it is, many believe that science and
religion will forever be locked in conflict. However, neither side of the argument have truly been able
to prove the existence of God. It is in this view that both, science and religion, should cooperate with
each other to find the answer instead of senselessly bickering about which side is right. The most
popular view between the conflict of science and religion is incompatibility, that is the view that
science and religion cannot exist together in harmony. In this view, the two are significantly different
approaches to knowledge. Science depends solely on experimental verification, while religion depends
strongly on faith. Advocates of this perspective say that history proves true of the

Advertising Analysis Of LOral Advertising
L Oréal Paris has used a numerous amount of codes and conventions to meet their ideal target
audience according to their brand. This can be shown in an mascara add. It used numerous techniques
such as images, layout use and AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire and Action). This was used to make
their brand that s being advertised wanted, desired and to look appealing. They have carefully
analysed and used these techniques to convince their audience young girls, adults that this is a
promising product that lives up to its standards.
First Was imagery used in this advertisement such as having Eva Longoria a well known famous actor
and model, sell their brand by modelling to become somewhat a face of their brand in hopes to appeal
more and to make the audience feel like since she has it, says it great I should go buy it myself. Visual
layout is used in this advertisement by having Eva Longoria on the left side with her eyes looking up
to the right which then draws our attention to the right the advertisement information which is in gold
in front of a black background. The colour usage is black and gold this makes the gold stand out over
the black making this advertisement more eye catching.

as to look at the advertisement information on the right of the photo. They have also used adjectives to

The Road Not Taken
Many writers use symbolism to help reveal things or say something important about life in a special
way In the poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, the author uses a variety of phrases that
contains symbolism. All of this symbolism also leads up to a very common theme that we must
usually several times in our lives. First of all, this poem uses a lot of symbolism to reveal many things
that also applies to us in our lives. To begin with, Robert Frost describes two (2) similar roads. One
thing he says to support his is, both that morning equally lay/ (/=new line) in leaves no step had
trodden black. This symbolizes the fact that in our lives, sometimes, we have to make difficult
decisions to things that seem to be quite alternatively related, and/or very similar. ... Show more

Though, at first, he tries to make himself feel comfortable being able to take both roads by saying Oh,
I kept the first for another day. However, he soon realizes that he will not be able to take both ways
since he says, Yet knowing how way leads to way. This line symbolizes the fact that if we take one
path, it will lead to many other different things, and it would be very difficult to go back to the
beginning. For example, if one chooses to specialize in learning science, this will lead up to getting a
career that is based upon science. And, at the end, if he would not want that career, it would become
difficult in getting a career in a totally different subject area like trying to become a English Language

The Role Of Industrialisation, The Modern State And Ethnicity
One of the most interesting, and sometimes most frustrating, traits of the phenomenon of nationalism
and the nation is the fact that it has no single, clear definition for the subject upon which all authorities
in the field agree. From what a nation is to what kindles the flame of nationalism that gives birth to
them, every scholar to pick up the pen on the topic has their own view and their own answers to the
various questions. This essay will be looking at some of those views and examining the role of
industrialisation, the modern state and ethnicity in nation building. Some of the approaches outlined
will be illustrated through the real world cases of Britain and the Kurds.
In the study of nationalism, one of the major schools of thought is the Modernist one, represented by
scholars such as Michael Mann, John Breuilly and of course Ernest Gellner. As their name suggests,
modernists adamantly claim that nationalism is something that is entirely a feature of modern society.
More specifically, modernism argues that nationalism emerged with the birth of the modern nation
state, which is to say, following the French Revolution of 1789. Modernism claims that nationalism
will not take root in societies that lack a supreme authority to maintain the unity and stability, and a
strong industrial economy. In the view of most modernist scholars, nationalism and the symbols it
utilises in the process of nation building are but a method of top down control.
Gellner s primary hypothesis

However, many people disagree with that proposal. Facebook, although it has become a huge part of
people s lives, is an example of a popular social media that has affected many users by reducing the
outside activities and in person conversations. But, the small details like the number of friends and the
notification system in the media have proven that this form of media actually improves the quality of
life through self presentation and disapproves the point regarding Facebook is lowering people s life
qualities. Many forms of social media are viewed negatively by some older people because of a few
aspects in the media. One of the aspects is that the social network has become another world among
younger generations where they are not restricted by parental controls and are able to share their
thoughts with people around the world. Some forms of social media actually maintain the anonymity
of the users because this allows people to post anything without thinking about the aftermath. Many
people concern about the unhealthy behaviors like cyber bullying or self harm behaviors that are
displayed on the social media. According to Lau et al, the research regarding social media in health
talks about how some contents displayed on social media are detrimental to many younger
generations: Other harmful and pernicious images can be seen on social video platforms, such as
people displaying self injury behaviors, hurting others, or taking drugs voluntarily. Over the last

Spider Woman Worldview Research Paper
Owen James The indigenous worldview was very holistic. They believed that everything was in
balance, including male and female power, and everything was sacred. These views are reflected in
the creation stories When Jesus came, the corn maidens left and the sacred pipe . In the corn maiden s
story, everything is in perfect balance and society is functioning until a priest inappropriately touches
one of the maiden s. Outraged by this, the maiden s go away and let the people go into famine, as a
way to make sure everyone knows that they are not to be seen sexually (Gutierrez). The story of spider
woman provides that there is a collaborative effort in creation stories (Serinity Young 225). There
weren t only male deities; there were female deities as well. So, this is empowering to women. This
worldview defined women as equal parts to men. Women were all holy and sacred beings. Power was
spread out differently but between men and women it was all balanced. Women held a big role in
society. According to European intellectuals , women holding power was primitive (Women Religious

Hello Day Worldwide By Juliah Acquah Summary
In Hello Day Worldwide, the poet is responding to a radio announcement that today is World Hello
Day with disapproval. Kobina Eyi Acquah uses diction, structure, figurative language, and symbolism
to question the intentions of a Day while advocating for a Lifetime commitment (27) to knowing and
being known (22). In the first two stanzas, a clear distinction is made between their town (1) and our
village (11). This creates a binary opposition in which the two paradigms are isolated from each other.
It can be seen that our village consists of a smaller population than their town, and therefore our
village is in a way powerless to change their town. The poet states that in their town saying good

the amazing world that revolves around us. The author structures the abolition / Of border ports / And
entry permits (31,33) so that each phrase had its own line. This makes it difficult to read which
symbolizes how hard it can be to break these barriers down from people. Once their walls go up, it is
near impossible to break down and change for a better and more communicative world. But with time
and effort, it can be done and will turn the world into a much more open place for everyone. There
exists another shift in tone as the author suggests that there is something deeper and darker lying
within people in society. The quick open lock / Of the shutters / Of the soul (43,44) suggests to the
reader that people may be open to change and

Difference Between NRF And NIMS
The various local, state, and federal emergency management systems of the United States suffered a
crude awakening in the decade of the 2000s. Systems expected to hold up were put to the test and
failed to prepare for disaster, mitigate the damage, and, in some instances, actually hampered
responses in life or death situations. Worse, all failings were highlighted in an age of global
communication and mass media, on display first whether a man made incident like September 11th
attacks or natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina. The decade found the complacent government
failing to maintain modern emergency management practices, stimulating began a series of doctrinal
upgrades and training improvements. Yet, no matter the bureaucracy, writings, or money thrown at a
problem, the first responder to the incident has and will continue to influence the outcome. While the
individual responder stands as the most important part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) would become the central point of contact
within the national government in responding to incidents. Since formation in 1979, FEMA s core
missions were to enhance the government s ability to survive a foreign attack, and to assist state and
local authorities in disaster response (Carafano, 2005). And while the two core missions seem
heterogenous in scope at times from an outside perspective, the biggest difference between the two
tasks is duration. A man made disaster may be over in a matter of minutes as compared to a hurricane
lasting several days, but in both instances the road to recovery is long. In order to streamline response
and recovery in either scenario, FEMA was reorganized with new directives to support comprehensive
emergency management practices (CRS, 2006). Today, FEMA provides the standard approach and
guidance that many local communities may not have due to funding, training, and

INTRODUCTION
Building a movement always challenges the status quo. Leaders must act, they must willingly risk the
things they love and unfortunately, many leaders are frozen by the lethargy of indecision i. Union
General George B. McClellan, who was meticulous in his planning and preparations, was also known
for not aggressively challenging his opponents on a fast moving battlefield environment. He
chronically overestimated the strength of the enemy and was reluctant to apply principles of mass, ...

Confederate politicians, including President Jefferson Davis, believed the prospect of foreign
recognition would increase if they won a victory on Northern soil; such a victory might gain
recognition and financial support from Britain and France, something that was vastly needed xiii.
While in pursuit, two soldiers in General McClellan s 75,500 man Army of the Potomac, stumbled
upon an amazing find. On the morning of September 13, in a clover field on the outskirts of Frederick,
MD, CPT Barton Mitchell and 1SG John Bloss found a bulky envelope by the road xiv. In it was a
sheet of paper wrapped around three cigars and marked Confidential . It was headed Special Orders
No 191 and signed by Command of GEN. R.E. Lee xv. Before noon, it was in the hands of General
McClellan xvi. From Special Order 191, McClellan learned the objectives, the timetables, and the
makeup of the four columns of Lee s Army xvii. The order indicated that Lee had divided his Army
and dispersed portions geographically to Harpers Ferry, WV and Hagerstown, MD, thus making each
subject to isolation and defeat if McClellan could move quickly enough xviii. Rather than using the
advantage to reposition his forces in overwhelming numbers, he waited 18 hours before taking
advantage of his intelligence. As it happened, it was just enough time for General Lee to evade
outright disaster xix.
While Lee had only 15,000 men at Sharpsburg and the first troops of

Acquiring Political Power under a Principality Essay
In The Prince, Machiavelli writes his analysis of how to acquire and sustain political power under a
principality. It is his understanding of human nature and the ability to maintain control over people
that make up the base for all of the other theories he puts forth. Machiavelli is able to recognize what
it takes to balance the citizens somewhere between happy and scared, so to keep them from revolting
while appearing united and strong discouraging others form invading. Thucydides shares a similar
view of human nature, as he sees all people as being motivated by fear, honor, and self interest.
Machiavelli and Thucydides both demonstrate how a ruler can use many aspects of human nature to
their advantage when ruling a state.

This passage provides the reasoning why leaders are safer feared than loved. When danger is close at
hand, people will turn on you if they do not fear the punishment they will be handed.
Thucydides shared a very similar view of human nature using different reasoning as to why humans
are of a self centered, amoral nature when faced with tragedy. Thucydides showed the similarities in
human nature during the plague and during the war. He observed that in the plague and in wartime,
humans become self serving individuals and give up their morality and reason. Although Thucydides
and Machiavelli wrote their books two thousand years apart, the similarity in their views showed that
human nature had not changed. The fact that their works are still refered to today suggests that human
nature has not in fact even changed much today.
Machiavelli s first focus has to do with the changing of rulers in a state and what the most effective
strategy of taking over is. The ideal way of taking over is dependent on what the situation in the state
was before and how the new ruler came into power. Thucydides states for a private citizen to become
prince through their own ability is very tough to do, but when they are successful it is easy to keep
their power. On the other hand

Bob Dylan Rhetorical Devices
Rhetorical Analysis You that never done nothin / But build to destroy/ You play with my world/ like it
s your little toy, (Dylan) is just an example of the powerful lyrics used in the song Masters Of War by
Bob Dylan, that were used to reveal the disappointment and anger that Dylan felt towards the US
government and military officials during the Vietnam war. Bob Dylan was a folk singer who was well
known for creating political protest songs about then current topics throughout history. After analyzing
the lyrics, rhetorical devices, and music of the song Masters Of War by Bob Dylan, the anti war
political message was revealed to be prominent throughout. Masters Of War was released in1963,

This song has a powerful anti war statement that can still be considered relevant to today s society and
war culture. The song Masters Of War by Bob Dylan uses rhetorical devices, melodic rhythms, and
different types of appeal to express the political message of the song. The meaning and message of the
song is an anti war political song against the government. The communicator is Dylan himself who
uses his song to convey the unmorality of the government to the audience through the lyrics and
haunting vocals. The intended audience is the government, who Dylan feels is responsible for a lot of
death and must learn from their mistakes. The song Masters Of War carries a resentful message
towards the government, and after analyzing the lyrics and music of the song the message was made

company offers a plethora of work related apparel and accessories. LOFT s target market comprises of
18 to 34 year olds who have a wide variety of casual work related (can be used for other purposes)
apparel and accessories. Although the two divisions cater to different target markets, their primary
purpose is to provide to the working customer. Ann Taylor s expansion into value based divisions
(LOFT and its clearance centers) has captured the value market. The pricing at LOFT is about 30%
lower than its sister concept, Ann Taylor. The outlets too, have captured the market that comprises of
consumers seeking deeper value over traditional pricing and stores. The corporation added more value
to these clearance centers, by creating private labels for the outlet centers. All the three divisions have
proven to be a success among consumers. A third strength of the company would be its marketing

1. Introduction:
As discussed in my proposal, database plays a crucial role in day to day life by acting as a repository
for all the transactions that take place in the world of internet. Electronic commerce or E commerce as
it is popularly called is increasingly becoming one of the most popular choices among the public

Some of the most crucial ones are listed below:
a. Type of Data: A data could be broadly classified in to three types viz. structured data, unstructured
data and semi structured data. Structured data are those which reside in a fixed field within a record or
a file such as customer s name, address, phone number etc. Unstructured data refers to information
that is not organized in a pre defined manner. Examples of Unstructured model include images,
videos, word presentations etc. It is estimated that unstructured data occupies almost 80% of all
available data in organizations. Semi structured data are those that do not have a strict data model. For
example, an email contains both structured data such as sender s name, recipient s name and subject
and also unstructured portion such as attachments and body of the letter.
(http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/structured_data.html).In an integrated, 3 tier architecture such
data are handled by XML as data traverses through various layers via an Enterprise Service Bus
(ESB).Thus, choosing a database requires the type of data to be taken in to consideration .
b. Data evolution: In large databases, data residing in the tables may change considerably over time

Industrial Relation Issues On Industrial Instruments And...
This purpose of this report is to examine industrial relation issues that are combated in the workplace
and relating these issues to industrial instruments and entitlements ( Thornthwaite Sheldon, 2013). The
chosen workplace for this report is WestPac it is one of the biggest leading banks in Australia which
provide various financial services for their customers. The issues that will be discussed in this report
outlines the conflicts of maternal/parental leave in Westpac, enterprise agreements of the workplace,
comparisons between industrial instruments and if these requirements fit in with the National
Employment Standards (NES). Moreover, under the Fair Work Australia Act 2009, it covers many
industrial instruments particularly the one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In terms of Westpac s enterprise agreement there was a major industrial issue regarding the loss of
jobs and employees had a vote in order to ensure that their rights and working conditions were met
with Westpac s enterprise agreement.
In the workplace, the instrument that is widely addressed and has created ongoing conflict in the
workplace is parental leave. Paid parental leave allows the employees to be covered by working
conditions which allows them to be accommodated from recuperation from birth ( (Baird, Whelan ,
Page , 2009) According to human services department by law parental leave pay lasts for at least
eighteen weeks for employees to take time off to take care of their newborns or infants ( (Human
Services , 2014) However, according to Westpac s conditions those employees that are permanent in
the workplace are only given thirteen weeks of paid parental leave including superannuation pay,
therefore this created industrial conflicts regarding the unpaid parental leave. The workplace parental
leave conditions are protected by the Paid Parental Leave Act (2010), which ensures that employees
are given financial support to care for their newborns .The parental scheme is problematic as some
employees have argued that their parental leave conditions are not reasonable, Westpac provides both
financial and non financial

France is not like other countries that allow the hijab; it rejects the whole idea of wearing headscarves. France bans Muslim women who wear the hijab from going to schools or even having jobs. The wearing of the hijab is the equivalent of someone walking with a sandwich board proclaiming that men and women are not equal, said Sandrine Mazetier, a Paris deputy who handles immigration for the Socialist Party in the National Assembly (Sachs 2). How can important and educated people in France think like this ignorant way? Islamic scholars think it s enough to wear modest clothes. It s acceptable to wear headscarves, but not going beyond that and wearing naqib or burqa. France also discriminates against Muslim women who wear the hijab. They do not allow them to enter schools. They put this law of banning the hijab in 2994 law prohibition inside schools (Esposito 265). On the other hand, they permit other religious people to practice their religions. They allow Roman Catholic students wearing a crucifix, Protestant students wearing a cross, Jewish male students wearing a skullcap (Muslim Headscarves 1). This law is not only for schools, but also for jobs. They dismiss these Muslim women from their jobs. This law has impacted their families. • 5. Eudora Welty s A Worn Path Eudora Welty s A Worn Path portrays an elderly woman, Phoenix, who endures a regular, strenuous journey into town to receive medicine for her grandson from a charitable pharmacy. She encounters difficulty aroused by nature and disapproving townspeople but triumphs and succeeds her goal. The use of characterization and symbolism creates A Worn Path by representing a strong and significant protagonist, as well as offering a symbolic meaning of life and courage when faced with love. The short story contains many elements of literature, but characterization and symbolism are two that make the story relatable and enjoyable and give off a sense of comfort and empowerment through Phoenix. The element of characterization is evident all throughout A Worn Path. Welty indirectly portrays Phoenix as a courageous, strong willed woman. While the author never blatantly states that Phoenix has strength or courage, the traits are revealed as she experiences trial and distress while doing what she is convinced as saving the life of whom she considers her only family. Phoenix is described as an aged, frail woman journeying through a brutal, winter day. Most people her age would not successfully complete such missions, though the author assigned meaning from the character being used for the particular task. Aside from Phoenix s physical quality, she is shown to have a peculiar mentality throughout the story. Phoenix regularly sees objects and figures that are unrealistic or incomprehensible. ... What Is The Theme Of Justice In Dante s Inferno Nichamon Roongroj Professor Harrington RN 106 November 15, 2017 The Inferno of Dante In the Fourth Circle of Hell, Dante encounters those who have been condemned to the inferno for reasons of greed. In this Fourth Circle, once again Dante s use of contrapasso is apparent with the punishment assigned to the greedy. These people have lived a life on Earth that was constantly distinguished by their avarice. Thus, such individuals hoard their wealth in an effort to merely accumulate material goods. They are not concerned with any type of use of these goods, but instead simply attempt to multiply them, in line with the logic of greed. For instance, the flatterers are forced to eat excrement in hell because their words are meaningless. In Canto III, the first seven lines read, through me you enter into the city of woes...justice moved my high maker, in power divine, wisdom supreme which suggests that God created Hell for justice. Many of the sins mirror the actions on Earth to create a balance. The sinner receive punishment that befits their sin. Dante, speaking from a Christian perspective, upholds that a concept of justice is central to the faith. When the human being sins he commits a transgression, which must be paid for in the afterlife: if there was no punishment, there would be no justice, since every human being, regardless of how they lived their life, would be treated the same. These punishments reflect justice in this sense, and also in the specific sense of how each punishment suits a specific sin. Without punishment, without a sense of justice, it would show a God who essentially does not care how people have lived their lives. And in this sense, it is also love: precisely because through justice God does show that he cares about how human beings have conducted themselves and does pay attention to the actions of human beings and recognizes ethical ... No one war, race or religion has ever come out on top nor has anyone been entirely unaffected by the oppression this superiority complex has caused. Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It shows Spiegelman conversing with and recording what his father says about what he lived through being a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. The graphic novel uses postmodern techniques in its representation of races of humans as diverse animals: the Jews are characterized as mice, the German soldiers as cats, and the non Jewish Poles are seen as pigs. Maus can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spiegelman s father was treated inhumanely because of his religion while Washington was treated unfairly due to the color of his skin. Both men wrote about what happened and how they chose to rise above their persecution and the injustice of how they are being treated instead of being walked all over. Vladek says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and poured again so everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the Nazi brutality towards the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews, treating them like animals. They strip them of any semblance of their humanity, even in death. They burned the bodies disrespectfully, and then took what was left to burn the others. Each account of these authors harsh lives is about something that they cannot control being hated for: color of skin and religious choice. Both authors use their past experiences to show how racism and religious persecution affect a person long after the fact. While reading Maus, the reader moves through several different time periods: the pre Holocaust, the actual Holocaust, and the post Holocaust. I agree to my books being read as existential or as structural works, as Marxist or neo Kantian, Freudianly or Jungianly: but above all I am glad to see that no one key will open the lock . The above quotation perhaps shows more than anything else the ambiguity of Calvino s works. The obsession to label all narratives arises from our compulsion to make sense of this world, as literary generic categories form part of our cosmologies. Instead, these two antithetical elements work to create a symbiotic relationship, marked by a tenuous balance which Calvino maintains in his fiction. I shall first begin by examining the notions of metafiction and neorealism, looking at what these genres entail, and how they would conventionally work in a narrative. Subsequently, I will then go on to show how these two notions create the dialectic between fairy tale and realism in Calvino s Baron In The Trees , thereby examining the reason underlying one of the most significant disputes over the genre of his work. I will then look at the ways in which Baron In The Trees may be considered as metafictional and also as neo realist. Consequently, I will then proceed to the various ways in which this dialectic manifested, as well as the means by which Calvino maintains a tenuous balance these two contrasting elements Lastly I will examine the reasons why the Calvino short story belies this dialectic of contrasting elements. Metafiction is fiction that draws attention to its own fictional status, and in doing so it acknowledges no reality other than the one we construct for ourselves. In attempting to escape from the constructed realities of language and signs, it seeks also to dispel our illusions of being able to portray reality in art and in novels. Reflection On The Long Chain Reflection Connects: The Long Chain Reflection In the movie, I thought the story of the chain of events leading to the various chemical discoveries was very interesting. For most of the discoveries, It was not a straightforward process in which the intention behind the formation of the new product coincided with its practical use. There were a lot of discoveries made for one purpose, but ended up being implemented for a different purpose. Not only that, but there were several products which led to subsequent discoveries in completely unrelated fields. I thought it was interesting how the history of the development of polymers began with the intention of creating a protective coating for the hull of cargo ships, and eventually gave way to products like, clothing dyes, alternative forms of light, fertilizers, etc.. Throughout the movie, it seemed that when a need emerged in the world, the chemists of the time went about trying to find a solution. This then created a domino effect because once one need was met, it would usually affect something else, creating another need to fulfil. For example, the color dye industry boomed in Germany because of the discovery of the first artificial aniline dye by William Perkin. This was followed by a growth in the population. The growth in population caused a food crisis, which needed to be solved by the invention of fertilizer. As a result, calcium carbide and the Haber Bosch process were invented. Memoirs tell readers that the American Dream is false, which causes the idea of transforming to be anti American (Lee 2015). Fate is out of anyone s hands. Two directors Alicia Guy and Liz Maxwell, professional choreographers, and talented Chapman students brought audiences an intimate and colorful evening with seven performance pieces. They were Innumerable, Metamorphosis, Children of the Drum, All as One, and And the Winner Is. In each piece, audiences could enjoy a unique story in the past or modern life and a great combination of customs, light, music, and body languages. The first performance piece was Innumerable choreographed by Cristina McKeever. It was based on the famous documentary Numbered by Danna Doron and Uriel Sinai. The story is about Auschwitz prisoners in the concentration camps. Regardless of religion, all these people were tattooed on their arms or chests with serial numbers. There are approximately 400,000 prisoners in Auschwitz, but only some several thousand survivors are still alive today. In order to attract the audiences, the piece started with a woman s voice speaking the quotation of Primo Levi, one of the survivor in Auschwitz, With time, my tattoo has become a part of my body. I do not display and do not hide it. I show it unwillingly to those who ask out of curiosity, readily and with anger to those who say they are incredulous. • 24. Classification Manual For Voice Disorders The voice is an individual s main mode of communicating his or her wants, needs, and emotions among other things. Each individual s voice is different, depending on whether the individual is male or female, and ranges in pitch and loudness. The voice is something that defines an individual as a person by helping shape the person s overall personality and attitude. However, there are many factors that may cause an individual s voice to be affected. According to Verdolini and colleagues (2006), the Classification Manual for Voice Disorders I describes seven distinct causal classifications which include laryngeal problems related to structural (1) pathologies, (2) inflammatory conditions, and (3) trauma or injury; (4)systemic conditions, (5) nonlaryngeal aero digestive disorders, (6) psychiatric psychological disorders, and (7) neurological disorders . Due to such a broad definition of what a voice disorder is, it is difficult to determine the incidence and prevalence of voice disorders. Most normative data includes information on individuals with occupations that require them to use their voice more than the average person, such as teachers, speech pathologists, and even singers (Boone et al., 2014). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The metaphor of a corpse as the receptacle of memory is a shocking—but apt—image of the individual who is afraid of contradiction. In this vivid image of the corpse of . . . memory, Emerson asks why people hold onto old beliefs or positions merely because they have taken these positions in the past. Being obsessed with whether or not you remain constant in your beliefs needlessly drains energy—as does conformity—from the act of living. After all, becoming mature involves the evolution of ideas, which is the wellspring of creativity. It is most important to review constantly and to reevaluate past decisions and opinions, and, if necessary, to escape from old ideas by admitting that they are faulty, just as the biblical Joseph fled from a seducer by leaving his coat in her hands, an image particularly potent in characterizing the pressure to conform as both seductive and degrading. Noteworthy in this discussion on consistency is the famous phrase A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. The term hobgoblin, which symbolizes fear of the unknown, furthers the effect produced by the corpse of memory and reinforces Emerson s condemnation of a society that demands conformity. Citing cultures that traditionally frown on inconsistency, Emerson points out that history s greatest thinkers were branded as outcasts for their original ideas—and scorned as such by their peers. ... Finally at the end of this subsection I briefly summarize the negative effects of the crisis on the EU as a single currency area. This kind of behaviour could be experienced in Hungary too, probably in order to profit from the process as much as we could. Therefore, the next question is: What if this behaviour could make negative effects on other countries, for example on Hungary, and influence them towards denying the Euro? However, we can see on Figure 14 that most of the people in Hungary want to introduce the single currency according to that opinion poll. Hence, it seems that temporarily we do not want to follow the way of the northern country. In addition, recently Sweden does [also] not have a target date to adopt the euro just like Hungary. However it is imperative for educators and future educators to know their personal educational philosophies so that they can be accountable, explain how they teach, what they are doing and why. My personal Educational philosophy is made up of four components; metaphysics, epistemology, axiology, and logic. My educational Philosophy Metaphysics (reality) is a combination of realism and idealism, that the mind, spirit, and body are connected and that they should and must work together. I am an advocate of behaviorism. Educators should discourage poor behaviors and encourage appropriate behaviors as well as teach new behaviors. Students are capable and should be involved in creating rules for the classroom. Education should encourage cooperation and teach decision making skills. • 31. The Clash of Faith and Evidence The Clash of Faith and Evidence History has shown that in the past, religion dominated as an explanation of knowledge and was used to explain many of the world s mysteries such as why the sun rises and sets and how the world came to be. Science, using concrete and tested evidence, gave light to many of these mysteries and debunked the myths created from religion. In today s modern society, science has advanced in a remarkable fashion. Science has broken down objects into structured molecules, found the genetic code that makes up an individual s DNA, and it even found a way to clone a sheep. Scientists of today are beginning to tread into territories that, some would argue, border along the lines of God s work. With science progressing the way it is, many believe that science and religion will forever be locked in conflict. However, neither side of the argument have truly been able to prove the existence of God. It is in this view that both, science and religion, should cooperate with each other to find the answer instead of senselessly bickering about which side is right. The most popular view between the conflict of science and religion is incompatibility, that is the view that science and religion cannot exist together in harmony. In this view, the two are significantly different approaches to knowledge. Science depends solely on experimental verification, while religion depends strongly on faith. The Role Of Industrialisation, The Modern State And Ethnicity One of the most interesting, and sometimes most frustrating, traits of the phenomenon of nationalism and the nation is the fact that it has no single, clear definition for the subject upon which all authorities in the field agree. From what a nation is to what kindles the flame of nationalism that gives birth to them, every scholar to pick up the pen on the topic has their own view and their own answers to the various questions. This essay will be looking at some of those views and examining the role of industrialisation, the modern state and ethnicity in nation building. Some of the approaches outlined will be illustrated through the real world cases of Britain and the Kurds. In the study of nationalism, one of the major schools of thought is the Modernist one, represented by scholars such as Michael Mann, John Breuilly and of course Ernest Gellner. As their name suggests, modernists adamantly claim that nationalism is something that is entirely a feature of modern society. More specifically, modernism argues that nationalism emerged with the birth of the modern nation state, which is to say, following the French Revolution of 1789. Modernism claims that nationalism will not take root in societies that lack a supreme authority to maintain the unity and stability, and a strong industrial economy. In the view of most modernist scholars, nationalism and the symbols it utilises in the process of nation building are but a method of top down control. Gellner s primary hypothesis ... Kobina Eyi Acquah uses diction, structure, figurative language, and symbolism to question the intentions of a Day while advocating for a Lifetime commitment (27) to knowing and being known (22). In the first two stanzas, a clear distinction is made between their town (1) and our village (11). This creates a binary opposition in which the two paradigms are isolated from each other. It can be seen that our village consists of a smaller population than their town, and therefore our village is in a way powerless to change their town. The poet states that in their town saying good morning is offensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first stanza, the author portrays a very negative atmosphere where people are unhappy and are very deep within themselves and not others. This then changes To the unbarring / Of windows and gates, / The demolition of fences and walls (28,30) these phrases all denote positive connotations of freedom. Freedom from people s lives trapped within their phones and tablets. The demolition of fences and walls shows the removal of all the barriers people in societies have set up in order to avoid conversation and general interaction, to help them build healthy relationships with others and to see the amazing world that revolves around us. The author structures the abolition / Of border ports / And entry permits (31,33) so that each phrase had its own line. This makes it difficult to read which symbolizes how hard it can be to break these barriers down from people. Once their walls go up, it is near impossible to break down and change for a better and more communicative world. But with time and effort, it can be done and will turn the world into a much more open place for everyone. There exists another shift in tone as the author suggests that there is something deeper and darker lying within people in society. The quick open lock / Of the shutters / Of the soul (43,44) suggests to the reader that people may be open to change and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Difference Between NRF And NIMS The various local, state, and federal emergency management systems of the United States suffered a crude awakening in the decade of the 2000s. Systems expected to hold up were put to the test and failed to prepare for disaster, mitigate the damage, and, in some instances, actually hampered responses in life or death situations. Worse, all failings were highlighted in an age of global communication and mass media, on display first whether a man made incident like September 11th attacks or natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina. The decade found the complacent government failing to maintain modern emergency management practices, stimulating began a series of doctrinal upgrades and training improvements. Yet, no matter the bureaucracy, writings, or money thrown at a problem, the first responder to the incident has and will continue to influence the outcome. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) would become the central point of contact within the national government in responding to incidents. Since formation in 1979, FEMA s core missions were to enhance the government s ability to survive a foreign attack, and to assist state and local authorities in disaster response (Carafano, 2005). And while the two core missions seem heterogenous in scope at times from an outside perspective, the biggest difference between the two tasks is duration. A man made disaster may be over in a matter of minutes as compared to a hurricane lasting several days, but in both instances the road to recovery is long. In order to streamline response and recovery in either scenario, FEMA was reorganized with new directives to support comprehensive emergency management practices (CRS, 2006). Today, FEMA provides the standard approach and guidance that many local communities may not have due to funding, training, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Confederate politicians, including President Jefferson Davis, believed the prospect of foreign recognition would increase if they won a victory on Northern soil; such a victory might gain recognition and financial support from Britain and France, something that was vastly needed xiii. While in pursuit, two soldiers in General McClellan s 75,500 man Army of the Potomac, stumbled upon an amazing find. On the morning of September 13, in a clover field on the outskirts of Frederick, MD, CPT Barton Mitchell and 1SG John Bloss found a bulky envelope by the road xiv. In it was a sheet of paper wrapped around three cigars and marked Confidential . It was headed Special Orders No 191 and signed by Command of GEN. R.E. Lee xv. Before noon, it was in the hands of General McClellan xvi. From Special Order 191, McClellan learned the objectives, the timetables, and the makeup of the four columns of Lee s Army xvii. The order indicated that Lee had divided his Army and dispersed portions geographically to Harpers Ferry, WV and Hagerstown, MD, thus making each subject to isolation and defeat if McClellan could move quickly enough xviii. Rather than using the advantage to reposition his forces in overwhelming numbers, he waited 18 hours before taking advantage of his intelligence. It is his understanding of human nature and the ability to maintain control over people that make up the base for all of the other theories he puts forth. Machiavelli is able to recognize what it takes to balance the citizens somewhere between happy and scared, so to keep them from revolting while appearing united and strong discouraging others form invading. Thucydides shares a similar view of human nature, as he sees all people as being motivated by fear, honor, and self interest. This passage provides the reasoning why leaders are safer feared than loved. When danger is close at hand, people will turn on you if they do not fear the punishment they will be handed. Thucydides shared a very similar view of human nature using different reasoning as to why humans are of a self centered, amoral nature when faced with tragedy. Thucydides showed the similarities in human nature during the plague and during the war. He observed that in the plague and in wartime, humans become self serving individuals and give up their morality and reason. Although Thucydides and Machiavelli wrote their books two thousand years apart, the similarity in their views showed that human nature had not changed. The fact that their works are still refered to today suggests that human nature has not in fact even changed much today. Machiavelli s first focus has to do with the changing of rulers in a state and what the most effective strategy of taking over is. The ideal way of taking over is dependent on what the situation in the state was before and how the new ruler came into power. Thucydides states for a private citizen to become prince through their own ability is very tough to do, but when they are successful it is easy to keep their power. On the other hand ...
