The Glass Menagerie Escapism Essay
The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams is a play with references to his own life concerning his
sister and mother. During the play there are many reoccurring symbols, each symbol is crucial to the
play in order to understand the idea of escape. Through the narrator s perspective, we are able to
witness the mainstream family during a war depression era. We see a single mother, unable to accept
change and retaining to the past; a sister, who has trouble dealing with reality and lives in a fictional
world where she has become fragile and unable to function outside her house within society; and the
narrator himself a young hardworking male figure within his house, whom the family depends upon.

The idea of war was an idea that was seen as adventurous in order to get escape from the harsh reality
of the 30 s poor economy. The escapism offered by entertainment in the play is symbolic for
excitement of war. America resembled Tom seeking and escape from their bland lifestyle leading them
to violent and desperate hopes, in which war is when adventure becomes available to masses. Tom
notices that America s ideas of adventures were much like Amanda and Laura s ideas of escape, they
only temporarily lifted the gloom of their problems. Much like Tom Americans during the 30 s looked
to escape by going to the movies. The theater for many Americans impoverished by the great
depression was one of the only affordable forms of entertainment. At the theater they could find
adventure. Like people in the U.S. Laura, Amanda, and Tom all strive to find adventure by escaping
their bland lives in their own ways. Although all three characters escape to find adventure in different
ways they all escape for the same reason, in order to fantasy and avoid their reality. Their escape from
reality however drives them further apart into an undeniable

Motivational Action Plan
Motivational Action Plan
Mr. Warren is an employee of about 6 months with our company. Despite the fact that he has never
before been in this line of work, he has taken to it like butter to toast. Though, he struggled in the
beginning with fear of being the new guy , he seems to be settled in with his new position. The routine
that he has fallen into seems to accommodate him, the people he works with, and the company. He is
really doing a wonderful job in his line of work. Though, he does not mind to work with others, he
prefers to work alone. He is very sensitive to criticism, so working with other people can tend to
overstress him. Due to potential that Jeremy has within the company, I would prefer to motivate him
more with the Self Determining Theory. This theory will give Warren the chance to make important
decisions within the company. I believe that this will boost his self esteem enough that he will be
confident enough to work in a team environment.
Mr. Miller is an employee of about two years. He has a lack of motivation that causes him to miss his
fullest potential by a longshot. His biggest downfall is the fact that he has such good relationships with
his co workers. He does not mind to just wonder from work area to work area in search of a good
conversation. Mr. Miller works well in a team environment but loses interest in his work when left
alone. Mr. Miller has recently expressed concern for his line of work due to the fact that he has a child
on the way.

Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment
Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and climatic model (CLM 4.5) outputs were
conducted over the southern part of the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS) (area: 835 × 103
km2) in Sudan and Chad to estimate the natural recharge rate. The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System
(NSAS) is shared by Egypt, Libya, Chad, and Sudan, and is one of the largest (area: ~ 2 × 106 km2)
groundwater systems in the world. Findings from the study include: (1) average annual precipitation
was estimated at 77.5 mm (65 km3); (2) recharge rate was estimated at 2.79±0.99 km3/yr; given the
annual extraction rate (~0.407±0.10 km3), recharge rate amounted to 3.2±1.00 km3/yr; and (3) the
east west trending Uweinat Aswan uplift impedes south to north groundwater flow and replenishment
from the recharge area in the south. A cost effective integrated approach is developed to quantify the
modern recharge of the NSAS during the period from January 2003 to December 2012.
1. Introduction
Groundwater recharge is the process of water movement downward through a saturated zone under the
force of gravity or in a direction determined by a hydraulic condition (Simmers, 1997). Natural
recharge of groundwater may occur from precipitation, from rivers and canals, or from lakes. In arid
and semi arid areas, assessment of groundwater recharge is one of the key challenges in determining
the sustainable yield of aquifers, as recharge rates are generally low in comparison with average
annual rainfall or

Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
Each of us has innate desire to understand the purpose of our existence. As Hermann Hesse illustrates
in his novel Siddhartha, the journey to wisdom may be difficult. Organized religion helps many to find
meaning in life but it does not substitute careful introspection. An important message of Siddhartha is
that to achieve enlightenment one must unite the experiences of mind, body, and spirit.
In the first part of the book, Siddhartha is consumed by his thirst for knowledge. He joined the
samanas and listened to the teachings of the Buddha in attempt to discern the true way to Nirvana.
Though he perfected the arts of meditation and self denial, he ... Show more content on

He proclaimed, I had to sink to the greatest mental depths, ...in order to experience grace, ...to sleep
deeply and awaken refreshed again (78). When he stopped his religious pilgrimage for the pleasures of
a senseless life his quest for inner direction seemed to be setback, but this was actually imperative in
moving forward to find himself. He unknowingly achieved the second step in his journey and was left
with just one more stage.
Siddhartha then discovered his spirit through a series of events that refreshed and awakened him. Then
from a remote part of his soul, from the past of his tired life, he heard a sound (72). At the moment
Siddhartha attempted to sink himself into oblivion by drowning himself in the river, his soul was
revived by the holy Om. Hesse states that this sound came from his past, indicating that without his
previous experiences, he could not be conscious of Brahman, of the indestructibleness of life (72).
When Siddhartha endured his revelation by the river he realized that his sins had ironically allowed
him to begin anew. When he found Atman in himself by forgetting his power to think, it showed that
his inner direction in truth guided him towards peace. While Siddhartha succeeded in recognizing his
soul, he still did not know how it fit into the unity of all things.
Siddhartha learned a valuable lesson in his inner journey by again

Essay on Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy
According to the website www.cpal/geocities.org, I found some valuable information to help me with
my report about exceptionalities in students. This website was almost like a tutorial that walked step
by step through the disability, causes, and treatments.
I found that in definition the words Cerebral Palsy are used to describe a medical condition that affects
control of the muscles. Cerebral means anything in the head and palsy refers to anything wrong with
control of the muscles or joints in the body. If someone has cerebral palsy it means that because of an
injury to their brain (that s the cerebral part) they are not able to use some of the muscles in their body
in the normal way (that s the palsy part). Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Changes in muscle tone let us move.
In this website I also learned that there are several types of CP. I wrote the different types below to
help understand each one individually.
1. Spastic Cerebral Palsy
If muscle tone is too high or too tight, the term spastic is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy.
Children with spastic CP have stiff and jerky movements because their muscles are too tight. They
often have a hard time moving from one position to another or letting go of something in their hand.
This is the most common type of CP. About half of all people with CP have spastic CP.
2. Ataxic Cerebral Palsy
Low muscle tone and poor coordination of movements is described as ataxic CP. Kids with ataxic CP
look very unsteady and shaky. They have a lot of shakiness, like a tremor you might have seen in a
very old person, especially when they are trying to do something like write or turn a page or cut with
scissors. They also often have very poor balance and may be very unsteady when they walk. Because
of the shaky movements and problems coordinating their muscles, kids with ataxic CP may take
longer to finish writing or art projects.
3. Athetoid Cerebral Palsy
The term athetoid is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy when muscle tone is mixed sometimes
too high and sometimes too low. Children with athetoid CP have trouble holding

Everest Incident Of 1996
May, 1996. Everest. People died, others were abandoned, and those who lived had to suffer with
haunting memories of the mountain. It was nothing short of a catastrophe. It was caused by a
multitude of things, but mostly incompetence, inadequate preparation, unenforced guidelines, and
unfavorable circumstances. Everything becomes a deciding factor when death is involved, and
especially during this perilous expedition.
There are many things that could have been put into play to prevent this disaster. A very important one
is better preparation for climbing. Simple things, like fixing ropes or getting more radios could have
helped immensely, and prevented many deaths. For example, we are shown one possible effect of
something basic being ignored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The weather, specifically, was awful and intense, so much so that you couldn t differentiate anyone
who didn t introduce themselves. It took a toll on everyone, being such an extreme blizzard at such an
unexpected time. Along with this, everyone was so drained and impaired, and weren t able to help.
This caused a few people to die, as they were unrightfully abandoned; one example being Beck
Weathers. He was left to perish on the mountain about three times, though he did survive. He suffered
a lot, and still does, and due to his unfortunate time on Everest has lost his hand and a few fingers. The
summaries do not lie, when they mention Into Thin Air as being a story of bad luck . Bad luck was, in
my opinion, the greatest catalyst for this tragic journey.
Into Thin Air was very interesting and intriguing for me, most of the way through. I watched a scene
play out, a disastrous scene, and was astounded by the fact that all of it was real. I saw how all of these
perils and dangers played a role in creating this catastrophe, and I realized how difficult it actually is
to get to the top of Everest and survive the descent. It isn t just a simple climb, nor a trek made easy
with technology; an expedition is a life deciding experience, and as it occurred in this situation small,
fixable mistakes, and bad luck, can turn a life long dream into a

Introduction
One of the most important skills to have in the chemistry lab is the understanding of how chemicals
will react. Knowing for example, how a chemical will react with a metal, is an excellent way of
determining the amount of a particular metal in a deposit. This knowledge was used in this lab to
determine the amount of copper in an unknown sample mixture. It is also known that the
determination of the percent concentration of a certain solution, will directly effect the percent
transmission and absorption of a solution, dependent upon its dilution. By first testing known
concentrations of a solution, and plotting this information graphically, a line is formed ... Show more

Susan Burton In The Foreword By Michele Alexander
Michele Alexander writes a Foreword in Becoming Ms. Burton, where she makes a bold comparison
after explaining an unidentified woman: Some people know this woman by the name Harriet Tubman.
I know her as Susan (xi). Alexander compares Susan Burton to Underground Railroad heroine, Harriet
Tubman. Over the course of the Foreword, it covers what Susan Burton does, how she is helping many
individuals, and essentially saving lives of those in need, much like Harriet Tubman did. This
comparison is crucial in setting up the idea of how special Susan Burton is, before revealing any major
information about her life. Alexander, by putting Ms. Burton next to such an important and
inspirational historical figure, gives the readers and idea of how incredible Susan is. Throughout the
book, the reader can go back to the comparison made by Alexander, and see how accurate it truly is.
Prompt #2 In Becoming Ms. Burton, it s sufficient to say Susan has suffered many high and low points
in her life. There are many factors out of Susan s control that are responsible for the downfalls she
experiences. After going over the internal and external factors, I ve narrowed it down to three: race,
gender, and home life. All three factors share the same problem; all are Susan s unearned
disadvantages in life. What I mean by unearned disadvantage is that Susan suffers from the
consequences of being African America, a woman, and having not an ideal upbringing. To get started,

RUNNING HEAD: ARGUMENTATION AND COLLABORATION
The purpose of this paper is to identify key issues based on lectures and readings done from this past
week. From the readings, the main focus for the week dealt with Argumentation and Collaboration. If
in any situation, how would the argument be constructed and supported, how to explain the way
perception will affect decision making, and lastly explain the importance of having clear
communication in business.
Argumentation
Argumentation deals with learning persuasive techniques of how to convince someone to think or act

Communication
The vitality of communication is very important. Robbins and Judge (2007) tells us that an idea, no
matter how great, is useless until it is transmitted and understood by others according to chapter 11
(Organizational Behavior). Without the function of communication, it is impossible for anything to go
on; nothing will exist. In order for communication to take place, it must be a phase of transmission of
meaning from one person to another and the meaning must be understood.
The most useful concept or idea is communication. Communication is what makes things or break
things. The effectiveness of how the well the communication is will determine the outcome of any
situation. Anyone can communicate, but as stated before, there must be transmission and meaning.
Realistically, all of the concepts and issues relate to the organization. Everyday, argumentation is
performed. Why do you feel this is adequate for the company? Not only argumentation, but decisions
are made throughout the entirety of the day. Have the decisions been thought out? Will this solve the
problem or make a difference? Lastly, there is communication. Communication will determine to what
extent the work will get completed, and how well information was perceived. All of these aspects are
essential in an organization and helps make the organization better place.

In conclusion, reading the material gave the opportunity

The Gladiator Trailer Essay
In the summer of 2000 a box office hit was released. Gladiator was a brilliant action film set in
Ancient Rome, which appealed to over 15s from both genders. The film was hugely successful and
raked in over $190,000,000 in the U.S box office and $434,000,000 worldwide. However the film
wouldn t have been nearly as successful as it was without the help of an exciting and gripping trailer
to appeal to the target audience. Trailers are very important in the film industry because it s the one
chance film makers have to attract their target audience. They try to choose clips which will appeal to
their target audience and also makes the film makers trailer more distinctive by including unique
selling points (USPs). In this essay I m ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some examples are white sand on the coliseum floor, gold and brown coliseum walls, and red rose
petals falling around Maximus. Without this use of colour change the audience would find it more
difficult to tell that the hero experienced a radical journey from a general to a slave to a gladiator, then
a hero. As the trailer begins, slow images combined with Written Words are used to give the target
audience time to familiarise themselves with the story of Maximus. For example the first few shots are
of Russell Crowe as a general, then a slave, then a gladiator. This makes it clear to the audience who
the main character is and helps to set the scene. Then the images start to become faster and more
exciting. This is achieved by using rapid cuts which increases the viewer s excitement. For example
the viewer now sees images of sword fights, fierce tigers and overturned chariots. A shot of a chariot
overturning and the image of a horse jumping through flames have also been included, but slowed
down because they are exciting stunts and the director doesn t want the audience to miss them. Also
by encapsulating a shot of Commodus screaming at his sister the audience can tell that the film will be
dramatic. By making the scenes faster and more violent, the director has gripped the audience so they
will go and see the film. Another important element of the trailer is the sound. Throughout the trailer
tense, exciting music is played to draw the

Over The Past Year, 12 Percent Of The Oceans Reefs Have
Over the past year, 12 percent of the oceans reefs have become bleached due to ocean acidification.
Ocean acidification and in turn coral bleaching, is due to carbon pollution causing global warming,
this makes the oceans warmer, thus making them more acidic. Coral reefs and shellfish cannot survive
these levels of acid in the water. In particular the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders
of the world, is suffering from this bleaching. The Great Barrier Reef has been declining in recent
years due to this acidification, however, as of recently it has come knocking on death s door. Carbon

An economic shortage would also occur because both the fishing industry and the shellfish industry
will simply have less products to sell. The consequences of ocean acidification don t just affect the
ocean, it directly affects humans too. Researchers documented the extent of the damage the reef off
the coast of Australia sustained during the 2016 bleaching event, and found that only 8.9 percent of
more than 1,000 reefs escaped with no bleaching along a stretch more than 2,300 kilometers long
(Kennedy). There have been 4 major bleaching events in the previous 20 years that have affected the
Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia. One happened on 1998, another in 2002, and then one in
2016 and one in 2017. This is the first ever documented occurrence of major coral bleaching
happening two years in a row. The dying of the Great Barrier Reef will hurt the Australian tourism
economy. The Great Barrier Reef tourism generates at least 5 billion Australian dollars a year or
3,297,000,000 USD, and employs nearly 70,000 Australians. The Great Barrier Reef is a huge source
of income for Australia, and if it is destroyed the Australian economy takes a huge hit and in turn
thousands of people will be affected. If the Reef doesn t do enough already, it also provides protection
and a food source. The Reefs dampen the waves that roll it, these waves can cause shoreline

The Causes Of Social Class Inequality In The United States
Ever since this nation was declared, the societies within the United States have suffered inequities
based on their race, gender, culture, beliefs and economic status. Despite all the struggles that
Americans went through to improve situations, the repetition of oppression and destructions of
common beliefs had been plausible within the United States. As long as these negative factors remain
in America, a society with social classes will always be counterproductive in economic development.
The beliefs of free speech for minorities continue to be unequal within this country and is a mere
image of historical events that have diminished the endeavors of minorities alike. According to Teresa
Pac, Assistant Professor, Global Art and Visual Culture Coordinator, The foreign born linguistic
groups, including the Chinese, Mexican, German, Irish, as well as Eastern and Southern European
immigrants among others, maintained their heritage languages through bilingual education, often lived
in cultural enclaves, and therefore were perceived as a threat to American values . This begs the
question if this kind of treatment towards different ethnic groups will continue or not for the future.
National American values are truly an ideology created within America to program Americans to
believe that someone who doesn t speak English is a threat to their pride and is therefore labeled as an
outcast. Social norms in America also tend to support stereotypes as well. Another contribution to

Also, describes the evidence that needs to formulate a policy, alternatives, and selection criteria of

Evidence of needed policy:
Evidence showed that only 12% of Americans are able to demonstrate an adequate level of health
literacy, resulting an additional $73 billion health care cost annually because of more medication,
more hospital visits, longer hospital stay, and unable to acquire necessary health services due to lack
of needed skills (Egbert Nanna, 2009). Another reason for needing the policy is to support and fulfill
the Healthy People 2020 national goal of improving health communication, and interaction between
care providers and patients, and improve shared decision making (Koh, Brach, Harris, Parchman,
2013). More than 23 million Americans have limited English proficiency resulting in low level of
health literacy; similarly, average Americans only have capability of reading 5th grade level, therefore,
we strongly need a policy that establishes the information and communication system as simple,
attractive, and relevant in order to effectively educate patients (Center for Health Care Strategies
(CHCS), 2013).

The Great Presidents By Woodrow Wilson Essay
Presidential greatness isn t necessarily determined just by success or remembrance, but is determined
by the ideas that a president has and how it impacts the people. Each president sets out with an agenda
to accomplish and to leave a legacy behind, however, only few presidents are remembered, celebrated,
and taught about. The history of great presidents often correlates to time of war for America. This is
because great presidents often emerge to the people in times of crisis, such as wars. Of the many great
presidents, Woodrow Wilson, offers unique qualities such as energy, intelligence, and leadership that
make him a great president. The traits of a great president are beginning to be defined first in
Federalist 70 by Alexander Hamilton. In this document, Hamilton outlines the need for a strong
executive branch and the need for a strong president. A trait that Hamilton believes defines a good
president is a trait of strong energy; energy to protect the nation, secure the liberties, and help
administer laws to help promote the stability of the nation. Hamilton argues that a feeble executive
implies a feeble execution of the government. (Lawler). Without a strong, energetic president as the
backbone to provide leadership, the country can fall into the traps of factions or anarchy, ultimately
destroying the government. In addition to strength and energy, intelligence and leadership is crucial
for a president to be effective and great. Leadership is a necessary quality to

The Price Of Rent Prices And Increase The Supply Of Rental...
The concept of negative gearing is a difficult one to make decisions on. This is owing to the fact that,
as much as it should, in theory, lower rent prices and increase the supply of rental properties, it
certainly doesn t seem to be the case in the Australian property market. The government s position, as
stated by the Honourable Mathias Cormann, Minister for Finance, is to, presently, not make any
changes.
... the government has absolutely no plans to make any changes to negative gearing... [because] if you
are going to reduce the supply of private rental properties, you will push up the cost of rents and you
will reduce housing affordability... .
However, to not make any changes to negative gearing does not seem to be helping the property
market, nor the government, but seemingly neither will abolishing it. By abolishing negative gearing
deductions, the government could run the risk of causing defaults, bankruptcies, and emergency sales
as investors struggle or fail to make ends meet with their negatively geared properties, causing
properties to flood the housing market and a reduction in the number of rental properties available.
Nevertheless, to leave it unchanged allows high marginal tax rate investors to continue to minimise
their tax, at the expense of the government, by purposely negatively gearing their investment
properties. A change needs to be made to the negative gearing policy and perhaps the most equitable
way is to look at and change the Capital Gains Tax

Hodgkin Lymphoma
Researchers are still trying to understand the etiology of Hodgkin s lymphoma.1 Researchers have
identified certain risk factors that increase the chance of getting the disease. For example, infection
with the Epstein Barr virus (EBV) increases the risk of getting Hodgkin lymphoma; however, the
overall risk of getting Hodgkin s is still small even with a previous EBV infection. It is unclear what
role EBV plays in the development of Hodgkin s lymphoma since many people are infected with EBV
each year but very few actually develop Hodgkin s lymphoma. Moreover, one in three patients with
Hodgkin s have EBV in the malignant Reed Sternberg cells, which are the cancer cells involved in
Hodgkin disease. However, others with the disease have no evidence ... Show more content on

Hodgkin s lymphoma has unique malignant mononucleated Hodgkin and multinucleated Reed
Stemberg cells or Hodgkin/Reed Stemberg [HRS] cells, which make up a small fraction of cells in
affected lymph nodes.4 These cells are embedded in an infiltrate of reactive hematopoietic cells. They
are composed of T and B lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils and are usually non malignant.
The malignant HRS cells do not contain a phenotype that can allow it to be assigned to a defined
hematopoietic cell type; therefore, their origin has been debated. HRS cells are mostly derived from
germinal center or post GC B cells and have lost the B cell specific gene expression program, unlike
other B cell derived lymphomas where the gene cell pattern shows the differentiation stage of the
origin. It is unclear how these cells survive since these types of cells usually undergo apoptotic cell
death. Additionally, there have been a number of molecular defects in HRS cells that have been
identified. These include activation of the transcription factors nuclear factor kapp B, members of the
STAT signaling pathway, activator protein 2, and deregulated NOTCH1 signaling.4 The deregulation
of these pathways is found in most HRS cells in nearly all cases of Hodgkin s lymphoma. This points
to the relevance of these pathways for HRS cell survival, regulation, and growth of HRS cell specific
gene

Reaching the Cape of Good Hope in 1487, they were led by the navigator, Vasco da Gama, across the
Indian Ocean to discover the sea route to the Far East in 1497. They knew of the existence of lands
across the Atlantic and they had made several expeditions to the West before Columbus discovered the
Antilles in 1492, but they had kept the knowledge to themselves in order to forestall the ambitions of
Spain, England, and France. For a small nation, secrecy was the only available method of
safeguarding the rewards of bold and successful exploration against exploitation by more powerful
maritime rivals.
The Treaty of Tordesillas (1494) settled the question of possession of the new lands between Spain
and Portugal. It was agreed that territories lying east of a meridian 370 leagues west of the Cape Verde
Islands should belong to Portugal, the lands to the west to Spain. This imaginary line, from pole to
pole, cut through the eastern most part of the South American continent and constituted Brazil s first
frontier, although the formal discovery by Pedro Alvares Cabral did not take place until six years later
in 1500.
First Settlements (1530 1549)
Cabral s voyage was soon followed by other Portuguese expeditions. The most exploitable wealth they
found was a wood that produced red and purples dyes, pau brasil (from which the country derived its
name). Organized occupation only began in 1530,

The Concept Of Government Is The Self-Actualized Society
In our days, people all around the world more or less suffer from hunger, diseases, poverty, inequality,
crime, wars and etc., and government of different countries are not there to change things, but instead
to keep things as they are. There is a solution in understanding the nature of this suffering and finding
the alternative government system, which will solve the puzzle. Such system was introduced by
Jacque Fresco under the Venus Project. I am arguing that the best form of government is the self
actualized society . It is the scientific and technologically organized society where the role for
government would be surpassed by engineered systems. The self actualized society will replace
money based economies with a resource based world economy. There would be interdisciplinary
teams of knowledgeable people in different fields accompanied by cybernated systems to monitor all
aspects of society to provide real time information supporting decision making for the wellbeing of all
people and the protection of the environment. There are two reasons: people will have healthier, safer,
and flourishing environment, and the society will have more advanced and rapidly developing science.
Many current politicians say that the environment is not important and so, there is no need in self
actualized society. The planet has been here long before us and it will be after, it changes with time
and with human impact, but it will heal itself without our help.
Also, many people say that

Explication Of The Altar
Alicia Markley ENG 213 Newton November 18, 2015 Explication of The Altar George Herbert, an
English seventeenth century metaphysical poet, published a volume of poetry called The Temple,
which contains The Altar. Herbert uses the concrete poem method to clearly illustrate the themes
thought this work. Because the altar is physically constructed with varying lines lengths, the reader is
imprinted with the image. This poem captivates the senses both visually and verbally. Using pictures,
intelligent wording, allusions to the church, symbolism, and tone shifts Herbert transitions the topic
from sacrifice, to heart, to sacrifice once more. Before the reader has a chance to dive into the poem,
they see the outline of a table or in this case, an altar. The Altar is the first poem under The Church
collection. Altars are elaborate tables used to sacrifice things to God. The first thing that draws
attention in a church is the altar. In the same way Herbert used visual imagery of an altar to catch the
eye of the reader. He begins by describing the materials evolved to assemble the altar. The altar is
portrayed as broken and built with the heart and tears of a faithful servant. Because man builds the
altar and all men are sinful, human heart and pain cannot appear untainted before God. In the first two
lines are written in iambic pentameter however the meter fluctuates throughout The Alter. Similar
sounds in lines 2 and 3 add a flow to the poem. Heart and cemented (2) have the

Voltaire s Portrait Of Religious Figures In Candide
Prompt: Discuss Voltaire s portrait of religious figures in Candide. Voltaire made heavy connections to
religion throughout the story of Candide. The story relates mostly towards Christianity because of its
popularity at the time, but Voltaire also relates to Judaism and Islam. Voltaire focused on making a
mockery of each religious figure in the story.
Voltaire was a famous philosopher that was strongly against an organized religion. A quote from
Candide shows Voltaire curiosity of life in general. The quote states, But for what purpose was the
earth formed? He believed in a more open religion rather than a set religion in which you had to
strongly abide by. In Candide, the main character comes across many different religious figures in
which are depicted as corrupt. This includes the Inquisitor, the Jesuit Baron and the Protestant
minister. Voltaire depicts each of these religious figures as self righteous and morally corrupt.
Although, Voltaire does make an exception with the Anabaptist. Anabaptists were often persecuted
which led to Voltaire defending them in the novel. James the Anabaptist ... Show more content on

He viewed them as untrustworthy and hypocritical. He continuously uses satire to mock multiple
religions for not demonstrating the practices that they promote. However, Voltaire does defend the
Anabaptist due to the discrimination against Anabaptists in that time period. The death of the
Anabaptists shows that even though a person lives the right way, bad things still happen in this world.
Voltaire promotes that religion is what oneself makes of it. An example of this is shown by the sage in
El Dorado. After being asked how they pray to God, the sage responds and says, We do not pray to
him at all. We have nothing to ask of him. He has given us all we want, and we give him thanks
continually. The sage shows that they do not pray as most organized religions reach, but instead thank

British Slave Trade
Slavery also increased British exports. As a result of the increased productivity and profits made from
slavery, the average British consumer had more money to spend on goods that cost less. These forces
helped to revive a slowing British economy and increased capital flows throughout the British Empire.
Cheap labor resulted in cheaper goods, and the British consumer was rewarded. As British industries
gained more profits from slave institutions, they also expanded their markets. With the benefits
achieved from slavery, British industry sold more goods to more people in more locations. Sales of
commodities also became more common, enabling further economic development. Empirically, the
raw tonnage of exports from England increased fourfold from 1715 to 1775. The ... Show more

Almost every major British industry benefitted from the increased productivity created by slavery.
Gun manufacturing was one of the first major industries to receive direct benefits from the slave trade.
Guns and slaves increased in direct proportion to each other. Guns, which were a relatively advanced
technology in the late 1700s, were given to African slave traders for African slaves, since African
slave owners desired guns and gunpowder to protect their kingdoms from other rival tribes. Guns were
highly sought after by African slave traders and could be traded for more slaves than any other good.
Whatley of Stanford suggests that it would only cost around 3.5 to 4.5 pounds sterling worth of
gunpowder to purchase a slave, but would cost nearly 40 pounds sterling to buy a slave using any
other good. That huge difference between gunpowder and the alternative trade item shows how much
more value slave traders placed on guns and gunpowder than other goods. As a result, it made more
economic sense to use guns and gunpowder to purchase

Volunteering In Community Service
Volunteering has been something that I truly have enjoyed doing in the past few years. I began
volunteering when I was in highschool, mostly because we had to meet a certain amount of
community service hours in order to be able to graduate. In highschool I was also involved in many
clubs and sports which required for us to do fundraisers and other volunteer work. For example,I was
a member of the National Honor Society where we did a lot of volunteer work in our community. I
have been able to volunteer at many different places such as schools, festivals, sports tournaments, and
at churches. Thanks to all of this, I was able to graduate high school with over 100 volunteer service
hours.
Helping out at the Northeast Community Fund was such an interesting experience. I have done some
volunteer work that involved helping provide food to the less fortune before. My senior year of high
school, my NHS group partnered up with an organization and together we were able to package over
10,000 meals in less than 3 hours! We also volunteered at the First United Methodist Church located
in Downtown Decatur. First United has a program called Dinner Downtown that is held every last
Saturday of the month and and we were able to help give a hot meal to hundreds of people in need.
With this program we were able to be more involved and able to communicate with the people we
were helping.
I went to the food pantry at the Northeast Community Fund on October 17th. Everyone volunteering

Short Essay On Poodles
The Poodle is about beauty and smarts an exceptional combination for this dog breed. They are active,
highly trainable, sociable, and like to please their owner. Their coat is hypoallergenic for those who
love dogs but who are allergic to shedding.
The History of Poodles
The origin of the Poodles can be traced back to Germany where the dog breed was known as the
Pudelhund. The word Pudel means to splash in water while the word Hund means dog. Before the
modern day, Poodles were hunting dogs specialized in retrieving objects in the water. The puffs of hair
that surrounded their joints kept them warm in cold waters.
These curly coated dogs became very popular in England and Spain, and were adored in France. In

Downsides of Poodles
Before you get a Poodle, take into consideration several things that can affect your time and money.
1. Poodles are one of the dog breeds that require very high maintenance. Their curly coat needs to be
clipped regularly every six to eight weeks. They are considered the most expensive dogs in terms of
grooming. This is because Poodles have hair coats rather than fur. Hair coats are hypoallergenic and
rarely shed, but which grow continuously.
2. Poodles are naturally proud and smart. The combination of the two can sometimes lead to
stubbornness. Train them as early as you can so they will grow up to be well mannered dogs.
3. Poodles love to socialize and please other people. Do not expect them to be alright when you leave
at home for long periods. Lack of socialization can prevent Poodles from becoming well adjusted
dogs. Let them join in family activities such as soccer practice, dress up play or

How The Grinch Stole Christmas
The book I selected was How the Grinch Stole Christmas because it was the first big kid book that I
learned to read. My mom read it to me as a goodnight story. After I learned how to read it with my
mom, I would read it every night with my brother and sister. This was the first book that I had always
begged to read, no matter how many times I had read it, it was always very interesting, funny, and
adventurous.
The Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas is the story of when The Grinch did not like
Christmas at all but every Who in Whoville liked Christmas a lot. No one knows why he doesn t like it
but most think it is because his heart is two times small. The Grinch lived in a cave and could hear the
Who s singing and dancing with the Christmas spirit. The Grinch wanted to stop Christmas from
coming but he did not know how. He then realized what he needed to do, he would dress up as Santa
Claus and sneak into the Who s houses and take all of their toys right after Santa Claus had left. ...

Unit 12 P2
Unit 12 P2: Explain the impact of organisational policies and procedures on the provision of technical
support
In this document I will be explaining the impact of organisational policies and procedures on the
provision of technical support.
In the modern world, IT Support is a major factor which is necessary in order to progress and function
properly. In big organisations, tech Support departments work tirelessly every day to provide quick
and effective support for users with faults. There are however factors which impact the provision of
technical support, these factors are:
Organisational guidelines
Service level agreements (SLA)
Confidentiality
Sensitivity of information
Organisational constraints
Outsourcing of support services
Organisational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The provision of IT Support will be impacted by the costs of resources required as the organisation
may not be able to afford to hire staff and hardware required thus having to hire external IT Support. If
the organisation doesn t have either an internal or external IT Support (or the organisation is large and
has a small tech support department), the organisation will not function properly and may face many
issues thus the provision of IT Support will be limited.
Another impact of organisational constraints on the provision of IT Support is the licensing and cost of
software. The internal IT Support will need to purchase software licenses in order to provide the
support to users. Some software licenses for software like fault logging and VNC are expensive. If the
organisation cannot provide funding for the software licenses to be purchased, the IT Support will
need to use alternative methods and this will definitively impact the provision of IT Support.

Rent Control
Governments set price controls in an attempt to solve social problems such as income inequality
leading to housing issues. Rent control is a law placing a maximum price, or a rent ceiling, on what
landlords can charge their tenants for renting out their properties (Block, 2008). The maximum price is
set so that there is affordable housing for lower income groups, meaning they are not priced out of the
market. In addition, this control would attempt to correct market inefficiencies. Tenants could be
pressured by landlords to accept rent increases as it is difficult and expensive to move, or because they
have complained, for example (Cruz, 2009). Without the price ceiling policy, the market would be in
equilibrium at price Pe and quantity Qe, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be used to portray the differences between short and long run quantity supplied in relation to
rent controls. As the price falls from p1 to p3, there is only a small change in the number of rental
houses supplied, from q1 to q3. This is due to the fact that in the short run there are fixed factors, such
as capital, that limit the ability to change. Whereas in the long run, these factors are flexible and
therefore there is a greater reduction of rental housing from q1 to q2, even with a smaller price
reduction from p1 to p2. As seen in Figure 1, and mentioned earlier, as a result of the price ceiling,
there is a less efficient allocation of scarce resources and an even higher demand for these resources
than before, creating a shortage of rental housing. This shortage brings several issues. Firstly, by
setting a price ceiling, the market cannot be in equilibrium in the short run as demand cannot equal
supply. In terms of welfare, less people would be provided with housing they demand at the given
price, compared to everyone receiving housing who demands it at the given price in a natural

Analyzing The Production Of Grapes
Viticulture examines the production of grapes. Viticulture takes into account everything outdoors,
including key factors such as geography, climate, soil, drainage, graftin¬¬g, the vine life cycle, and
harvest.
Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage.
Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweet wine with high
alcohol content since these grapes are producing more sugar for the yeast to eat. When the climate is
cool, lower temperatures maintain the acidity and make it hard for grapes to ripen.
Soil: Dry, arid soil is critical since grapes don t do well in rich, organic soils. If wines receive a large
amount of nutrients, they go vegetative which is when grape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Phylloxera is a microscopic, yellow sap sucking insect that feed on roots and leaves of grapevines.
This insect can infest a vineyard as a whole and ruin every vein on the property. It has had a huge
impact on the wine industry because it allowed for the introduction of grafting. Phylloxera kills
European vines therefore in order to grow European grapes on American soil one must graft a
European vine to an American root allowing for the different grape types to survive and thrive.
The 5 S s are important to take into account when tasting wines. Sight, Swirl, Smell, Sip and Spit are
essential to understand.
Sight: When first pouring a glass of wine, you want to hold it to a white background in order to have a
clear vision of the wines color. If a white wine has hints of green it indicates youth and acidity. Darker
shades indicate bolder flavors or the wine was held in a oak barrel. When viewing a red wine, less
color indicates aging and a subtle flavor. You can also determine age by the amber outer ring that is
present; if a wider ring is visible the wine is older.
Swirl: By tilting the glass, and swirling this action enhances the wines flavor and natural aroma.
Moreover when you swirl, legs and tears appear on the glass itself allowing for observation. If the
drippings are wide and slow it indicates a heavier wine, while

Essay On The Things They Carried
The Things They Carried provides a personal view into the minds of soldiers, and tells us the

middle of the war. He seems to be a man in love, or more like a man in love with the idea of a lady
named Martha. He ends up changing from a love struck, blind man into a firm, leading soldier. In this
story, the characters do the things they do because of desires and motivations. In The Things They

  • 2. The Glass Menagerie Escapism Essay The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams is a play with references to his own life concerning his sister and mother. During the play there are many reoccurring symbols, each symbol is crucial to the play in order to understand the idea of escape. Through the narrator s perspective, we are able to witness the mainstream family during a war depression era. We see a single mother, unable to accept change and retaining to the past; a sister, who has trouble dealing with reality and lives in a fictional world where she has become fragile and unable to function outside her house within society; and the narrator himself a young hardworking male figure within his house, whom the family depends upon. Tennessee Williams is able to create an eventful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of war was an idea that was seen as adventurous in order to get escape from the harsh reality of the 30 s poor economy. The escapism offered by entertainment in the play is symbolic for excitement of war. America resembled Tom seeking and escape from their bland lifestyle leading them to violent and desperate hopes, in which war is when adventure becomes available to masses. Tom notices that America s ideas of adventures were much like Amanda and Laura s ideas of escape, they only temporarily lifted the gloom of their problems. Much like Tom Americans during the 30 s looked to escape by going to the movies. The theater for many Americans impoverished by the great depression was one of the only affordable forms of entertainment. At the theater they could find adventure. Like people in the U.S. Laura, Amanda, and Tom all strive to find adventure by escaping their bland lives in their own ways. Although all three characters escape to find adventure in different ways they all escape for the same reason, in order to fantasy and avoid their reality. Their escape from reality however drives them further apart into an undeniable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Motivational Action Plan Motivational Action Plan Mr. Warren is an employee of about 6 months with our company. Despite the fact that he has never before been in this line of work, he has taken to it like butter to toast. Though, he struggled in the beginning with fear of being the new guy , he seems to be settled in with his new position. The routine that he has fallen into seems to accommodate him, the people he works with, and the company. He is really doing a wonderful job in his line of work. Though, he does not mind to work with others, he prefers to work alone. He is very sensitive to criticism, so working with other people can tend to overstress him. Due to potential that Jeremy has within the company, I would prefer to motivate him more with the Self Determining Theory. This theory will give Warren the chance to make important decisions within the company. I believe that this will boost his self esteem enough that he will be confident enough to work in a team environment. Mr. Miller is an employee of about two years. He has a lack of motivation that causes him to miss his fullest potential by a longshot. His biggest downfall is the fact that he has such good relationships with his co workers. He does not mind to just wonder from work area to work area in search of a good conversation. Mr. Miller works well in a team environment but loses interest in his work when left alone. Mr. Miller has recently expressed concern for his line of work due to the fact that he has a child on the way. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and climatic model (CLM 4.5) outputs were conducted over the southern part of the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS) (area: 835 × 103 km2) in Sudan and Chad to estimate the natural recharge rate. The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS) is shared by Egypt, Libya, Chad, and Sudan, and is one of the largest (area: ~ 2 × 106 km2) groundwater systems in the world. Findings from the study include: (1) average annual precipitation was estimated at 77.5 mm (65 km3); (2) recharge rate was estimated at 2.79±0.99 km3/yr; given the annual extraction rate (~0.407±0.10 km3), recharge rate amounted to 3.2±1.00 km3/yr; and (3) the east west trending Uweinat Aswan uplift impedes south to north groundwater flow and replenishment from the recharge area in the south. A cost effective integrated approach is developed to quantify the modern recharge of the NSAS during the period from January 2003 to December 2012. 1. Introduction Groundwater recharge is the process of water movement downward through a saturated zone under the force of gravity or in a direction determined by a hydraulic condition (Simmers, 1997). Natural recharge of groundwater may occur from precipitation, from rivers and canals, or from lakes. In arid and semi arid areas, assessment of groundwater recharge is one of the key challenges in determining the sustainable yield of aquifers, as recharge rates are generally low in comparison with average annual rainfall or ... • 5. Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha Each of us has innate desire to understand the purpose of our existence. As Hermann Hesse illustrates in his novel Siddhartha, the journey to wisdom may be difficult. Organized religion helps many to find meaning in life but it does not substitute careful introspection. An important message of Siddhartha is that to achieve enlightenment one must unite the experiences of mind, body, and spirit. In the first part of the book, Siddhartha is consumed by his thirst for knowledge. He joined the samanas and listened to the teachings of the Buddha in attempt to discern the true way to Nirvana. Though he perfected the arts of meditation and self denial, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He proclaimed, I had to sink to the greatest mental depths, ...in order to experience grace, ...to sleep deeply and awaken refreshed again (78). When he stopped his religious pilgrimage for the pleasures of a senseless life his quest for inner direction seemed to be setback, but this was actually imperative in moving forward to find himself. He unknowingly achieved the second step in his journey and was left with just one more stage. Siddhartha then discovered his spirit through a series of events that refreshed and awakened him. Then from a remote part of his soul, from the past of his tired life, he heard a sound (72). At the moment Siddhartha attempted to sink himself into oblivion by drowning himself in the river, his soul was revived by the holy Om. Hesse states that this sound came from his past, indicating that without his previous experiences, he could not be conscious of Brahman, of the indestructibleness of life (72). When Siddhartha endured his revelation by the river he realized that his sins had ironically allowed him to begin anew. When he found Atman in himself by forgetting his power to think, it showed that his inner direction in truth guided him towards peace. While Siddhartha succeeded in recognizing his soul, he still did not know how it fit into the unity of all things. Siddhartha learned a valuable lesson in his inner journey by again ... • 6. Essay on Cerebral Palsy Cerebral Palsy According to the website www.cpal/geocities.org, I found some valuable information to help me with my report about exceptionalities in students. This website was almost like a tutorial that walked step by step through the disability, causes, and treatments. I found that in definition the words Cerebral Palsy are used to describe a medical condition that affects control of the muscles. Cerebral means anything in the head and palsy refers to anything wrong with control of the muscles or joints in the body. If someone has cerebral palsy it means that because of an injury to their brain (that s the cerebral part) they are not able to use some of the muscles in their body in the normal way (that s the palsy part). Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Changes in muscle tone let us move. In this website I also learned that there are several types of CP. I wrote the different types below to help understand each one individually. 1. Spastic Cerebral Palsy If muscle tone is too high or too tight, the term spastic is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy. Children with spastic CP have stiff and jerky movements because their muscles are too tight. They often have a hard time moving from one position to another or letting go of something in their hand. This is the most common type of CP. About half of all people with CP have spastic CP. 2. Ataxic Cerebral Palsy Low muscle tone and poor coordination of movements is described as ataxic CP. Kids with ataxic CP look very unsteady and shaky. They have a lot of shakiness, like a tremor you might have seen in a very old person, especially when they are trying to do something like write or turn a page or cut with scissors. They also often have very poor balance and may be very unsteady when they walk. Because of the shaky movements and problems coordinating their muscles, kids with ataxic CP may take longer to finish writing or art projects. 3. Athetoid Cerebral Palsy The term athetoid is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy when muscle tone is mixed sometimes too high and sometimes too low. Children with athetoid CP have trouble holding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Everest Incident Of 1996 May, 1996. Everest. People died, others were abandoned, and those who lived had to suffer with haunting memories of the mountain. It was nothing short of a catastrophe. It was caused by a multitude of things, but mostly incompetence, inadequate preparation, unenforced guidelines, and unfavorable circumstances. Everything becomes a deciding factor when death is involved, and especially during this perilous expedition. There are many things that could have been put into play to prevent this disaster. A very important one is better preparation for climbing. Simple things, like fixing ropes or getting more radios could have helped immensely, and prevented many deaths. For example, we are shown one possible effect of something basic being ignored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The weather, specifically, was awful and intense, so much so that you couldn t differentiate anyone who didn t introduce themselves. It took a toll on everyone, being such an extreme blizzard at such an unexpected time. Along with this, everyone was so drained and impaired, and weren t able to help. This caused a few people to die, as they were unrightfully abandoned; one example being Beck Weathers. He was left to perish on the mountain about three times, though he did survive. He suffered a lot, and still does, and due to his unfortunate time on Everest has lost his hand and a few fingers. The summaries do not lie, when they mention Into Thin Air as being a story of bad luck . Bad luck was, in my opinion, the greatest catalyst for this tragic journey. Into Thin Air was very interesting and intriguing for me, most of the way through. I watched a scene play out, a disastrous scene, and was astounded by the fact that all of it was real. I saw how all of these perils and dangers played a role in creating this catastrophe, and I realized how difficult it actually is to get to the top of Everest and survive the descent. It isn t just a simple climb, nor a trek made easy with technology; an expedition is a life deciding experience, and as it occurred in this situation small, fixable mistakes, and bad luck, can turn a life long dream into a ... Susan Burton In The Foreword By Michele Alexander Michele Alexander writes a Foreword in Becoming Ms. Burton, where she makes a bold comparison after explaining an unidentified woman: Some people know this woman by the name Harriet Tubman. I know her as Susan (xi). Alexander compares Susan Burton to Underground Railroad heroine, Harriet Tubman. Over the course of the Foreword, it covers what Susan Burton does, how she is helping many individuals, and essentially saving lives of those in need, much like Harriet Tubman did. This comparison is crucial in setting up the idea of how special Susan Burton is, before revealing any major information about her life. Alexander, by putting Ms. Burton next to such an important and inspirational historical figure, gives the readers and idea of how incredible Susan is. Throughout the book, the reader can go back to the comparison made by Alexander, and see how accurate it truly is. Prompt #2 In Becoming Ms. Burton, it s sufficient to say Susan has suffered many high and low points in her life. There are many factors out of Susan s control that are responsible for the downfalls she experiences. After going over the internal and external factors, I ve narrowed it down to three: race, gender, and home life. All three factors share the same problem; all are Susan s unearned disadvantages in life. What I mean by unearned disadvantage is that Susan suffers from the consequences of being African America, a woman, and having not an ideal upbringing. To get started, as witnessed the ... Robbins and Judge (2007) tells us that an idea, no matter how great, is useless until it is transmitted and understood by others according to chapter 11 (Organizational Behavior). Without the function of communication, it is impossible for anything to go on; nothing will exist. In order for communication to take place, it must be a phase of transmission of meaning from one person to another and the meaning must be understood. The most useful concept or idea is communication. Communication is what makes things or break things. The effectiveness of how the well the communication is will determine the outcome of any situation. Anyone can communicate, but as stated before, there must be transmission and meaning. The film was hugely successful and raked in over $190,000,000 in the U.S box office and $434,000,000 worldwide. However the film wouldn t have been nearly as successful as it was without the help of an exciting and gripping trailer to appeal to the target audience. Without this use of colour change the audience would find it more difficult to tell that the hero experienced a radical journey from a general to a slave to a gladiator, then a hero. As the trailer begins, slow images combined with Written Words are used to give the target audience time to familiarise themselves with the story of Maximus. For example the first few shots are of Russell Crowe as a general, then a slave, then a gladiator. This makes it clear to the audience who the main character is and helps to set the scene. Then the images start to become faster and more exciting. This is achieved by using rapid cuts which increases the viewer s excitement. For example the viewer now sees images of sword fights, fierce tigers and overturned chariots. A shot of a chariot overturning and the image of a horse jumping through flames have also been included, but slowed down because they are exciting stunts and the director doesn t want the audience to miss them. Also by encapsulating a shot of Commodus screaming at his sister the audience can tell that the film will be dramatic. By making the scenes faster and more violent, the director has gripped the audience so they will go and see the film. Another important element of the trailer is the sound. • 20. The Causes Of Social Class Inequality In The United States Ever since this nation was declared, the societies within the United States have suffered inequities based on their race, gender, culture, beliefs and economic status. Despite all the struggles that Americans went through to improve situations, the repetition of oppression and destructions of common beliefs had been plausible within the United States. As long as these negative factors remain in America, a society with social classes will always be counterproductive in economic development. The beliefs of free speech for minorities continue to be unequal within this country and is a mere image of historical events that have diminished the endeavors of minorities alike. According to Teresa Pac, Assistant Professor, Global Art and Visual Culture Coordinator, The foreign born linguistic groups, including the Chinese, Mexican, German, Irish, as well as Eastern and Southern European immigrants among others, maintained their heritage languages through bilingual education, often lived in cultural enclaves, and therefore were perceived as a threat to American values . Each president sets out with an agenda to accomplish and to leave a legacy behind, however, only few presidents are remembered, celebrated, and taught about. The history of great presidents often correlates to time of war for America. This is because great presidents often emerge to the people in times of crisis, such as wars. Of the many great presidents, Woodrow Wilson, offers unique qualities such as energy, intelligence, and leadership that make him a great president. The traits of a great president are beginning to be defined first in Federalist 70 by Alexander Hamilton. In this document, Hamilton outlines the need for a strong executive branch and the need for a strong president. A trait that Hamilton believes defines a good president is a trait of strong energy; energy to protect the nation, secure the liberties, and help administer laws to help promote the stability of the nation. Hamilton argues that a feeble executive implies a feeble execution of the government. (Lawler). This is owing to the fact that, as much as it should, in theory, lower rent prices and increase the supply of rental properties, it certainly doesn t seem to be the case in the Australian property market. The government s position, as stated by the Honourable Mathias Cormann, Minister for Finance, is to, presently, not make any changes. ... the government has absolutely no plans to make any changes to negative gearing... [because] if you are going to reduce the supply of private rental properties, you will push up the cost of rents and you will reduce housing affordability... . However, to not make any changes to negative gearing does not seem to be helping the property market, nor the government, but seemingly neither will abolishing it. By abolishing negative gearing deductions, the government could run the risk of causing defaults, bankruptcies, and emergency sales as investors struggle or fail to make ends meet with their negatively geared properties, causing properties to flood the housing market and a reduction in the number of rental properties available. Nevertheless, to leave it unchanged allows high marginal tax rate investors to continue to minimise their tax, at the expense of the government, by purposely negatively gearing their investment properties. A change needs to be made to the negative gearing policy and perhaps the most equitable way is to look at and change the Capital Gains Tax ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are composed of T and B lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils and are usually non malignant. The malignant HRS cells do not contain a phenotype that can allow it to be assigned to a defined hematopoietic cell type; therefore, their origin has been debated. HRS cells are mostly derived from germinal center or post GC B cells and have lost the B cell specific gene expression program, unlike other B cell derived lymphomas where the gene cell pattern shows the differentiation stage of the origin. It is unclear how these cells survive since these types of cells usually undergo apoptotic cell death. Additionally, there have been a number of molecular defects in HRS cells that have been identified. These include activation of the transcription factors nuclear factor kapp B, members of the STAT signaling pathway, activator protein 2, and deregulated NOTCH1 signaling.4 The deregulation of these pathways is found in most HRS cells in nearly all cases of Hodgkin s lymphoma. Reaching the Cape of Good Hope in 1487, they were led by the navigator, Vasco da Gama, across the Indian Ocean to discover the sea route to the Far East in 1497. For a small nation, secrecy was the only available method of safeguarding the rewards of bold and successful exploration against exploitation by more powerful maritime rivals. The Treaty of Tordesillas (1494) settled the question of possession of the new lands between Spain and Portugal. It was agreed that territories lying east of a meridian 370 leagues west of the Cape Verde Islands should belong to Portugal, the lands to the west to Spain. The Concept Of Government Is The Self-Actualized Society In our days, people all around the world more or less suffer from hunger, diseases, poverty, inequality, crime, wars and etc., and government of different countries are not there to change things, but instead to keep things as they are. There is a solution in understanding the nature of this suffering and finding the alternative government system, which will solve the puzzle. Such system was introduced by Jacque Fresco under the Venus Project. I am arguing that the best form of government is the self actualized society . It is the scientific and technologically organized society where the role for government would be surpassed by engineered systems. The self actualized society will replace money based economies with a resource based world economy. There would be interdisciplinary teams of knowledgeable people in different fields accompanied by cybernated systems to monitor all aspects of society to provide real time information supporting decision making for the wellbeing of all people and the protection of the environment. There are two reasons: people will have healthier, safer, and flourishing environment, and the society will have more advanced and rapidly developing science. Many current politicians say that the environment is not important and so, there is no need in self actualized society. Explication Of The Altar Alicia Markley ENG 213 Newton November 18, 2015 Explication of The Altar George Herbert, an English seventeenth century metaphysical poet, published a volume of poetry called The Temple, which contains The Altar. Herbert uses the concrete poem method to clearly illustrate the themes thought this work. Because the altar is physically constructed with varying lines lengths, the reader is imprinted with the image. This poem captivates the senses both visually and verbally. Using pictures, intelligent wording, allusions to the church, symbolism, and tone shifts Herbert transitions the topic from sacrifice, to heart, to sacrifice once more. Before the reader has a chance to dive into the poem, they see the outline of a table or in this case, an altar. The Altar is the first poem under The Church collection. Altars are elaborate tables used to sacrifice things to God. The first thing that draws attention in a church is the altar. In the same way Herbert used visual imagery of an altar to catch the eye of the reader. He begins by describing the materials evolved to assemble the altar. The altar is portrayed as broken and built with the heart and tears of a faithful servant. Because man builds the altar and all men are sinful, human heart and pain cannot appear untainted before God. Voltaire made heavy connections to religion throughout the story of Candide. The story relates mostly towards Christianity because of its popularity at the time, but Voltaire also relates to Judaism and Islam. Voltaire focused on making a mockery of each religious figure in the story. Voltaire was a famous philosopher that was strongly against an organized religion. A quote from Candide shows Voltaire curiosity of life in general. The quote states, But for what purpose was the earth formed? He believed in a more open religion rather than a set religion in which you had to strongly abide by. In Candide, the main character comes across many different religious figures in which are depicted as corrupt. This includes the Inquisitor, the Jesuit Baron and the Protestant minister. Guns were highly sought after by African slave traders and could be traded for more slaves than any other good. Whatley of Stanford suggests that it would only cost around 3.5 to 4.5 pounds sterling worth of gunpowder to purchase a slave, but would cost nearly 40 pounds sterling to buy a slave using any other good. • 37. Rent Control Governments set price controls in an attempt to solve social problems such as income inequality leading to housing issues. Rent control is a law placing a maximum price, or a rent ceiling, on what landlords can charge their tenants for renting out their properties (Block, 2008). The maximum price is set so that there is affordable housing for lower income groups, meaning they are not priced out of the market. In addition, this control would attempt to correct market inefficiencies. Tenants could be pressured by landlords to accept rent increases as it is difficult and expensive to move, or because they have complained, for example (Cruz, 2009). Without the price ceiling policy, the market would be in equilibrium at price Pe and quantity Qe, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be used to portray the differences between short and long run quantity supplied in relation to rent controls. As the price falls from p1 to p3, there is only a small change in the number of rental houses supplied, from q1 to q3. This is due to the fact that in the short run there are fixed factors, such as capital, that limit the ability to change. Whereas in the long run, these factors are flexible and therefore there is a greater reduction of rental housing from q1 to q2, even with a smaller price reduction from p1 to p2. As seen in Figure 1, and mentioned earlier, as a result of the price ceiling, there is a less efficient allocation of scarce resources and an even higher demand for these resources than before, creating a shortage of rental housing. This shortage brings several issues. Firstly, by setting a price ceiling, the market cannot be in equilibrium in the short run as demand cannot equal supply. In terms of welfare, less people would be provided with housing they demand at the given price, compared to everyone receiving housing who demands it at the given price in a natural ... • 38. Analyzing The Production Of Grapes Viticulture examines the production of grapes. Viticulture takes into account everything outdoors, including key factors such as geography, climate, soil, drainage, graftin¬¬g, the vine life cycle, and harvest. Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage. Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweet wine with high alcohol content since these grapes are producing more sugar for the yeast to eat. When the climate is cool, lower temperatures maintain the acidity and make it hard for grapes to ripen. Soil: Dry, arid soil is critical since grapes don t do well in rich, organic soils. It has had a huge impact on the wine industry because it allowed for the introduction of grafting. Phylloxera kills European vines therefore in order to grow European grapes on American soil one must graft a European vine to an American root allowing for the different grape types to survive and thrive. The 5 S s are important to take into account when tasting wines. Sight, Swirl, Smell, Sip and Spit are essential to understand. Sight: When first pouring a glass of wine, you want to hold it to a white background in order to have a clear vision of the wines color. If a white wine has hints of green it indicates youth and acidity. Darker shades indicate bolder flavors or the wine was held in a oak barrel. When viewing a red wine, less color indicates aging and a subtle flavor. You can also determine age by the amber outer ring that is present; if a wider ring is visible the wine is older. Swirl: By tilting the glass, and swirling this action enhances the wines flavor and natural aroma. Moreover when you swirl, legs and tears appear on the glass itself allowing for observation. If the drippings are wide and slow it indicates a heavier wine, while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross is stationed in Vietnam in the middle of the war. He seems to be a man in love, or more like a man in love with the idea of a lady named Martha.
