The Role Of Astrology In Greek Mythology
Astronomy is defined as the study of non Earthly bodies and phenomena such as the sun, moon, stars,
and planets. Human behavior is defined as the range of physical and emotional behaviors that humans
engage in; biologically, socially, intellectually, etc. and are influenced by culture, attitudes, emotions,
values, ethics, authority, rapport, persuasion, coercion and/or genetics. When combined, the two topics
merge into a third one called astrology: the study of celestial entities and how they apply to the
characteristics and affairs of humankind. Astrology has been influences human behavior on daily
lives. In ancient times, astrologers believed that every component of the universe was interconnected.

Astrologically, Uranus represents the rebellious and unpredictable nature of the human mind. Uranus
is associated with the Titan Prometheus who tricked Zeus into giving fire to humanity, astrologically
relating Uranus to rebellion. In application to ADHD, Gibson observed that the patients with ADHD
that were the most rebellious or defiant had shown massive shift in negative energy of the planet
Uranus. Gibson observed Taylor (all patients are identified with pseudonyms), one of his ADHD
patients, and found that Taylor displayed symptoms of ADHD:
He could never just sit in his chair and wait for his teachers to call on him. He liked to walk around the
classroom and talk to his friends, even when asked to sit down. On several occasions he was sent to
the principal s office for punishment and redirection. He fights with his brother and sisters and seems
unable to take care of his possessions. He cannot sit still long enough to watch television or to play
with his friends in a quiet manner his grades at school are poor (Gibson

Moral Code And Standards For Improving Individual Behavior
I grew up without a mother and father and did not have moral principles instilled in me to help
develop my moral code and standards for maximizing my utility in life. For example, some children
are taught to show respect to parents, teachers, and elders. Respecting parents, teachers, elders, and
other people within society can help to enhance relationships. The better the relationship, the better
coexistence between people. Good moral principles allows a person to make the right decisions and
improve their interactions with other people. These principles can help in improving individual
behavior, inspiring respect, and enriching relationships of others.
With that being said, life is important and guiding values and principles help ... Show more content on

This appears to make perfect sense for most, but the Marines stress the 75% solution to help rapidly
make decisions. In other words, you are to do your best to gather as much information as you can until
you have approximately seventy five percent of the data and facts. Then, use your knowledge, skill,
and perception to fill in the remaining twenty five percent. The Marines view is that it is always better
to make a decision and execute aggressively with partial information, than it is to wait and make a
perfect decision that may be too late and lead to undesirable results. You are taught to rapidly estimate
a situation and make a solid decision based on that estimation. There is no room for reluctance to
make a decision. If there is reluctance, then you revise it. The rapid decision making process has
taught me to not be afraid to make a decision and learn from my mistakes and to respect the leader
who corrects mistakes immediately and owns up to it.
The second principle that I acquired from the Marines was the spirit of determination and
commitment. In the Marines, you will endure and sacrifice for your fellow Marine. It certainly was not
fun to work your butt off to only pay for someone else s mistake. It is easy to complain, but instead,
you go help the weaker Marine in your unit and teach them how to become faster and grow stronger.
Marines that complain are thinking about themselves and their own welfare. As a Marine, you are

Audience Appeal in Romeo and Juliet Essay

that the play Romeo and Juliet was written several hundred years ago, explain how it continues to
appeal to an audience today. Referring to the play how does Shakespeare creates tension for the
audience? Explain the use of language and the way the actors convey suspense and excitement. Refer
specifically to Act 3 Scenes 4 and 5, to illustrate your views. The story of Romeo and Juliet appeals to

The life death theme of the story can also be shown as a light dark or love death relationship. Romeo
talks about Juliet as a bright angel shining in the darkness of night, bright angel, for thou art As
glorious to this night, being o er my head, As is a winged messenger of heaven Unto the white
upturned, wond ring eyes This contrast between light dark or love death shows how closely they are
linked. Romeo and Juliet are life to each other, but their love will eventually cause their destruction.
The story starts with two Capulets, Sampson and Gregory, talking about how much the hate the
Montagues. They boast to each other about their bravery and sex appeal. Their conversation is full of
puns and sexual jokes. Sampson and Gregory then meet up with two Montague servants and a fight
begins. Next we meet another Montague, Benvolio, who tries to stop the fight. From Benvolios s first
words, I do but keep the peace. Put up thy sword, Or manage it to part these men with me. we can tell
that he is peaceful. Throughout the play people seem to trust Benvolio: Lord and Lady Montague ask
him to find out what the matter with Romeo is, and then Romeo confesses him sorrow about Rosaline
who he is in love, and later on Prince Escalus asks him to explain two deaths. These three events show
Benvoios s character as benevolent, composed and trustworthy. The fight is

Pretty Little Lias
E. M. Forester belived that literature should be more than dull facts and physical reality. Authors of
both experienced and inexpirenced backgrounds, have and will always attempt to entertain the
audience by keeping them engaged. The passion of the writer is refected onto the words on the pages.
Literature that is meant to entertain like Pretty Little Liars, should expand one s imagination and open
mindedness. The book series Pretty Little Liars, by Sara Shepard, are extraordinary books that involve
both mystery and a little bit of horror. The series is about 5 high school girls who are being bullied,
threatened, and even abused by a mystery character who goes by the name of A . The setting takes

Analysis Of Theodor W. Adorno s The
about the world around us, even just for a moment. This boldly claims a kind of autonomy for art, but
one that is distinct from Theodor W. Adorno s conception and more in line with the affirmative notions
the aesthetic impulse. As such, the kind of aesthetics that I am eluded to here is not just a state of
contemplation. It is much more. As Cramerotti describes in his aforementioned essay, it is rather the
capacity of an art form to put our sensibility in motion, and convert what we feel about nature and the
human race into a concrete (visual or bodily) experience . It is useful to introduce Deleuze s categories
of the actual and the virtual and put them into motion. In his 1968 text Difference and Repetition ,
Deleuze explains that the virtual is not opposed to the real; it possesses a full reality by itself. The
process it undergoes is actualisation. It would be wrong to see only a verbal despite here: it is a
question of existence itself . Deleuze s category of the virtual , the realm of affects and Paterson s
documents of darkness are united in their intangibility and their capacity to move the spectator beyond
the familiar. Collectively, these forces harness the ability to transport the viewer to another time and
place.
In his 1992 text Chaosmosis: An Ethico Aesthetic Paradigm , Guattari describes this capacity as an
ethico aesthetic paradigm, which pertains to subjectivity as well as art. He argues that new complexes
of subjectivation become possible

create cells that are half of each parent in order to maintain a steady amount of chromosomes as
opposed to increasing chromosomes. testis and ovaries, egg and sperm fertilization is necessary for
diploidy to be restored crossing over (prophase I), independent assortment of chromosomes

the random fusion of gametes which results in 5 x 10^27 possible genetically distinct offspring.

The Importance Of Water Resources In Africa
Water is one of the vital resources required by every living organism, yet a large percentage of the
earth s people do not have access to an adequate and constant supply of water. In the developing
world, many rural communities are located in water scarce areas, where there is uneven distribution of
hydrological resources and economic and/or political barriers to pipe and distribute water from the
ground or surface (UN, 2014). People living in developing and under developed countries live with
unsanitary conditions where their everyday survival is the main concern. They are exposed to drought,
famine and death as a result of water borne diseases come from unclean water sources and food
shortage as a result of inability of land to grow crops. The problem of accessing fresh water will be
more costly and difficult and it has become more wide even in developed countries (Rosegrant et al.,
2002). Climate change and a developing water resource interest for agricultural and urban
development are increasing the pressure on water resources and variability of the hydrological regime.
By the year 2020 between 75 and 250 million people will be exposed to highly increased water stress
in Africa, in some regions of the continent, 50% of yield and agricultural production will become
more severely compromised as a result of food shortage (Ammar et al., 2016). Natural disaster,
climate change and dramatic increase of human population, effect on food security, human and animal

Corporate Social Responsibilities
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The term social responsibility means different things to different people. Generally, corporate social
responsibility is the obligation to take action that protects and improves the welfare of society as
whole as well as organizational interests. According to the concept of corporate social responsibility, a
manager must strive to achieve both organizational and societal goals.
Current perspectives regarding the fundamentals of social responsibility of businesses are listed and
discussed through (1) the Davis model of corporate social responsibility, (2) areas of corporate social
responsibility, and (3) varying opinions on social responsibility.

Federal law requires that businesses perform certain socially responsible activities. In fact, several
government agencies have been established and are maintained to develop such business related
legislation and to make sure the laws are followed. The Environmental Protection Agency does indeed
have the authority to require businesses to adhere to certain socially responsible environmental
standards. Adherence to legislated social responsibilities represents the minimum standard of social
responsibility performance that business leaders must achieve. Managers must ask themselves,
however, how far beyond the minimum they should attempt to go a difficult and complicated question
that entails assessing the positive and negative outcomes of performing socially responsible activities.
Only those activities that contribute to the business s success while contributing to the welfare of
society should be undertaken.
Social Responsiveness. Social responsiveness is the degree of effectiveness and efficiency an
organization displays in pursuing its social responsibilities. The greater the degree of effectiveness and
efficiency, the more socially responsive the organization is said to be. The socially responsive

Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System
The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the
Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good
government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence,
friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the
system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in
which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up
with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two
options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties
have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote
for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. The Republicans ideology is American
conservatism, which involves support of free market capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national
defense, and de regulation and restrictions on labor unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly
centrists an progressives, whose philosophy is of modern liberalism which advocates social and ...

collection at the graduate library at the University of Michigan displays some ancient artifacts of the
4th century and even older showing us what life would of been like in those times. In this exhibit there
was a wooden tablet with school exercises from Egypt used in the 4th century. The wooden tablet was
found in an unknown provenance of Egypt. This extraordinary tablet was used as a part of elementary
Greek school exercises. The tablet features the alphabet written out in regular and reverse order, on the

that. This old piece of wood dates back more than 1700 years old. The wood tablet was used in greek

looking lines and shapes engraved on the wood are an example of the alphabet use in Greek language
in the 4th century. It is very interesting to compare our english alphabet and even the current greek
alphabet to these engravings on the tablet. I am amazed that we are able to read what was written on
these tablets even though they are 1700 years old and a completely different language. These
discoveries shown in the exhibition are very valuable in showing how language has changed yet we

Healthy Aging In Canada
Aging is inevitable, with age comes certain conditions, and diagnoses that affect healthy aging in
Canadians. In Canada, and across the world, there are institutions that help care for people with these
diagnoses. Nurses are one of the members of the health care team, and they help to try and reduce
risks that can exist in aging Canadians. The purpose of this paper is to explore the risks of malnutrition
in aging Canadians living in institutions who have vascular dementia. Malnutrition and vascular

to recognize this risk before it escalates. The signs of dementia including forgetfulness, confusion and

A nurse in an institution could use Bevis when implementing the interventions, for example in the first
intervention, helping the resident identify cutlery, show them how to use it, this demonstrates
teaching. (McMahon, 2009). The second intervention is changing the colour of the plates, this uses
problem solving because when the resident is getting distracted then the implementation of colours
can draw attention to the food. (McMahon, 2009). Lastly the third intervention about trying to talk to
the resident s when they walk away from a meal uses the Bevis nursing tool, communication.
Communicating to the resident helps bring attention to back to the meal (McMahon, 2009). When
implementing interventions there are barriers that must be overcome in order to make them effective.
For the first intervention dealing with helping them use cutlery, a barrier can be time. This can be an
issue because care providers may not want to spend the time to properly teach the resident and want to
do it themselves so that it is faster, it is important that the nurses be supportive and patient (McGinley,
2015). The second intervention about the coloured plates can have issues arise regarding money. If it
is easier and more affordable for an institution to only have one colour plates, then having special
plates for residents with vascular dementia could be a challenge. To overcome this, having the family
bring in coloured plates if they are able to could resolve this problem (McGinley, 2015). Lastly,
having a nurse sit with a resident with vascular dementia for the duration of the meal to stop their
wandering could be a challenge because it is unlikely that an institution would be able to have health
care professionals give their complete attention to only one resident. A way to over come this could be
to sit a couple of residents

The Four Branches Of Proteomics
Proteomics has four branches that include sequence and structural proteomics, expression proteomics,
interaction proteomics and functional proteomics. Provide one example for each branch and describe
them briefly.
The analysis of a complete set of proteins (proteome) of a given cell or organism can be defined as
proteomics (Phillips Bogyo, 2005). The primary aim of proteomic analysis is to separate, identify and
characterize proteins and understand their interactions with other proteins. There are four branches of
proteomics which are sequence and structural proteomics, expression proteomics, interaction
proteomics and functional proteomics.

According to Berggard et al. (2007), human genomes consist of 20 000 30 000 genes coding for over
500 000 different proteins of which more than 10 000 proteins can be produced by the cell at any
given time. These protein protein interactions are regulated by several mechanisms. To detect protein
interactions on a large scale, the methods need to be suitable and have to meet several criteria. One of
the technologies used here is the yeast two hybrid system. According to Auerbach et al. (n.d.), the
yeast two hybrid system is a genetic system where an interaction between a known bait protein and its
partner expressed from a library can be detected by reconstitution of a transcription factor and
concurrent activation of a set of reporter genes. Furthermore, this system is well suited to high
throughput applications that desire automatization. This approaches have used two complementary
approaches which are the so called matrix approach and the library screening approach in order to
screen large sets of proteins. In addition, this system offers a number of advantages over many of the
biochemical procedures often used to analyze the protein protein interactions (Causier Davies, 2002).
Since it avoids costly procedures such as antibody production and protein purification thus yeast two
hybrid technology is relatively inexpensive. It is easy to screen the cDNA expression libraries

Essay On The Trojan War
During the time of the ancient Greeks, there was much tension between the Trojans and the Greeks,
leading to the famous Trojan War. It all started when Paris, the prince of the magnificent city of Troy,
abducted a woman after making a deal with the goddess of love, Aphrodite. There are many variations
on how the war began and the battles that took place during it, but one event stayed for certain: The
story of the large, wooden horse that lead to the downfall of Troy. Most of the information about this
historical event was recorded in Homer s famous works, The Iliad and The Odyssey. The Trojan War
was started by a petty feud between three goddesses, fought by brave warriors, and recorded in Homer
s Iliad and Odyssey.
Conflicts began between the Trojans and the Greeks began long ago when King Peleus, who later on
became the father of the Trojan War hero, Achilles, married Thetis, a sea nymph. Their marriage was
celebrated by the all of the gods except for the goddess of discord and strife, Eris, who was not
included in the celebration, (History.com). Infuriated, Eris threw her gift, a golden apple who was to
be gifted to the fairest, amongst the guest. This wedding lead to the Trojan War because of the feud
between the three goddesses, Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite, that occurred next. They quarreled over the
apple and the title of it possessed and decided to ask Paris, a mortal prince, who truly was the fairest,
most magnificent, goddess. They then bribed Paris with riches

Evolution Of Dog Research Essay
It s likely no surprise to dog owners, but growing research suggests that man s best friend often acts
more human than canine.
Dogs can read facial expressions, communicate jealousy, display empathy, and even watch TV, studies
have shown. They ve picked up these people like traits during their evolution from wolves to
domesticated pets, which occurred between 11,000 and 16,000 years ago, experts say.
In particular, paying attention to us, getting along with us, [and] tolerating us has led to particular
characteristics that often mirror ours, says Laurie Santos, director of the Yale Comparative Cognition
Laboratory. (Read more about how dogs evolved in National Geographic magazine.)

Even more surprising is that the untrained dogs often glanced back and forth between her and the
door, baffled at what she was looking at. The behavior, only seen before in humans and chimps, is
called check backs or double looking, she said. (Read about war dogs in National Geographic
magazine.)
It s a lesson for us all that we should always examine whether training has an effect in these types of
studies, says Wallis.
Next Steps in Dog Research
In humans, aging hastens declines in short term memory and logical reasoning skills, making it more
difficult to learn new tasks. Previous research has found similar declines in dogs, but long term
memory is a little known aspect of dog biology. (See Many Animals Including Your Dog May Have
Horrible Short Term Memories. )
That s why Wallis and colleagues are studying how dogs both young and old memorize tasks, and
whether the animals can remember them months later.
The results are still in the works, but Wallis expects to discover that it s tough but not impossible to
teach old dogs new tricks.

What Did The World Economic Downturn Of 2008-09 Boost...
Assessment 2: CHANGING BUSINESS ENVIROMENT
Q1. To what extent did the world economic downturn of 2008 09 boost China s position as a world
leader?
A1. China began its 2008, fiscal year with a continuing growth rate in double digits until the Global
Financial Crisis struck the world leaving the United States and the Europe economically wounded.
Though during the phase it was assumed China would be immune to the GFC, however the banks
collapsing in the Europe and the America dragged China into a financial mess itself. The recorded
GDP growth for the fiscal years 2009 10 were 9.6% and 9.2% respectively. (Li, Willett Zhang, 2012).

because of the ties of the British Prime Minister David Cameron with Dalai Lama, the leader of Tiber
over which China exercises sovereignty. (Branigan, 2014)
Q3. To what extent are the China s domestic problems likely to hold back its bid for great power
status?
A3. China s exceptional growth rate has influenced a domestic concern for the Chinese causing
inequality in the country. Many agriculture and factory workers have expressed concerned of the
growing middle class sector leaving people in the primary and secondary sector dissatisfied. Even if
there is a tremendous growth rate in the economy Chinas domestic problems are likely to cause China
to hold its great power status . This has come about worse for the Chinese authorities as it slows the
national growth of the company in the long term basis. Concentration of wealth in the hands of a few
can result in the political strife. With the prevailing level of communism and liberal views within the
China, such concentration power might result in further problems.

The Survivor Of A Survivor
A plane crash, a shark attack, a shipwreck, or even cancer, are all types of life threatening events.
Majority of the population would agree that people who can overcome experiencing one of these or a
similar event is classified as a survivor. In this case, a survivor would mean somebody who has
experienced a near death situation and overcame it. However, not everyone has faced one of these and
yet is still a survivor. A survivor is simply anyone who successfully copes with a hardship better than
the majority of the population would. At age nine, most kids are worried about what their friends are

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Cold Deformation Process...
Cold deformation process of metals causes distortion of crystalline structure. When a material is
formed, the grains are usually distorted and elongated in one or more directions which make the
material anisotropic. Anisotropy can be defined as a difference in a material s physical or mechanical
properties in different directions of taking of testing samples. In exploitation, it is very important to
recognize the direction of grain elongation so that the best orientation of working part can be chosen.
For that purpose ultrasonic testing is used. The ultrasonic velocity of the material is determined by
using a digital oscilloscope under condition that thickness of the material is known. Testing shows the

Usually used methods include cutting in two directions (transversal and longitudinal), and
microstructure scanning. These methods take a lot of time. This paper suggest the use of non
destructive testing methods that can offer faster response to basic question: what is the distortion
direction? Proposed method is ultrasonic testing.
Ultrasonic velocity is an important acoustic parameter that characterizes each material [1]. Ultrasonic
velocity in the material is determined by the type and condition of materials and external influences
such as temperature and strain.
He [2] dealt with the issue of measuring the speed of ultrasound in the material so that at the same
time are measured the speed of ultrasound and thickness of the material in several different tubes. For
this purpose, he conducted an analysis of time and frequency domain received signal. He listed all
theoretical influences on the accuracy of speed of ultrasound, but not experimentally determined or
estimated deviation of the actual values.
Ali [3] carried out measuring the longitudinal and transverse ultrasonic velocity in the standard block
and on that experimental basis he determined mechanical properties of the reference standard and
calculated modulus of elasticity of

The Benefits Of Real Property In Mexico
Canadians and North Americans are buying more property in Mexico than ever before. This is partly
because the Mexican government has been making it much easier. In 1973 the Mexican government
changed their foreign investment law to allow non Mexican nationals to buy real estate anywhere in
Mexico except the Restricted Zone (which is located within 31 miles from the coastline and 62 miles
from its borders). In 1993 the law was amended to allow foreigners to buy real property in the
Restricted Zone by using a Fideicomiso which is a trust agreement established with a Mexican bank.

trustee. The bank then, as trustee, has a fiduciary responsibility ... Show more content on

private lenders. Credit scores can also have an impact like they do here in the United States. Paying all
cash upfront is simple, easy, and the norm in the past but financing is becoming more available.
Seller financing is very popular and works basically the same as it does here in the United States. But
there is also another type of seller financing called: Reserve of Domain. It is typically used if the
buyer has all the money to purchase the property, but it is tied up in assets and isn t liquefiable at the
time of sale. One example would be if the foreign buyer has the money in an IRA and is only
permitted to withdraw a small portion without being penalized. The Reserve of Domain is easier and
cheaper to set up than an ordinary mortgage. The buyer pays the seller most of the sales price for the
property. Then the buyer and the seller enter an agreement regarding the payment of the remainder of
the sales price. The deed is then put in Reserve by a Notario Publico. When the buyer pays the seller
the balance along with the interest that was agreed upon, the seller contacts the Notario Publico and
signs off that he s been paid. The Notario Publico then goes to the Public Registry of Property and lifts
the Reserve from the deed.
Large international banks working in Mexico can offer mortgage loans and some can even help you

Organic agriculture is the oldest type of agriculture there is. Many people don t know exactly what has

Land that is coming out of CRP works great to be put right into raising organic crops, because you
donít have to wait for three years to change to organic. If you donít have land that is coming out of
CRP or something like it, then you will have to go through a three year transition period. There are
sometimes markets for these crops, but otherwise they have to be sold like regular crops. Iowa State
University says that, ìIn Iowa, the Natural Resource Conservation Services offers organic farmers

The biggest problem people have with organic farming is weed control. You canít use chemicals, so it
has do be done mechanically. Farmers use different tactics to try and control weeds, like delaying
planting until the ground is warmer and using the crop rotations helps out tremendously. One tool that
farmers can use is a flamer to get rid of weeds. According to Bowman, ìFlames from LP gas burners

weeds as small seedlings.î (1997)

The Revolution Of The American Revolution
Every 4th of July, Americans are told the story of the American Revolution. We remember the
oppressed colonists fighting against the tyrannical King George III and the formidable red coats.
Patriotic heroes are remembered, evil kings are cursed, and the liberties and freedoms won from the
war are celebrated. Though America often likes to look back to the revolution, the question of just
how much a revolution was the American Revolution is rarely asked. While the American revolution
was not as radical of a revolution as we like to remember today, it still changed the political, social,
and ideological aspects substantially of the thirteen colonies. Americans deservedly have to rite to
remember the revolution, regardless to the fact of if there was true reason to start one, as a true full
fledged revolution.
To decide just how much of a revolution the American Revolution was, one has to first explain what a
revolution is. As defined by Princeton University, a revolution

In accordance with this definition, for a protest to considered revolution, the established government
must be overthrown by the people it governs over. The American Revolution easily fulfills this
definition. The British government was overthrown by those it governed, the colonists. Since this
criteria is met, the American Revolution can be considered a technical revolution. But to understand of

Argical Analysis Of Socrates
Socrates begins his apology by asking for forgives as he is not a professional sophist, and presenting
himself as a foreigner to the courts. Where if he was truly a foreigner, they would show lenience
(17d). He gives a defense to his speaking style as his accusers have pictured him as a skilled speaker.
He explains, I am not a clever speaker at all unless indeed they call a clever speaker on who speaks the
truth (17b). Socrates continues to paint himself as a common person by showing he is an elderly man
being attacked by the youth of Athens. This is quite cleaver of Socrates to not only put himself as a
defenseless man but also showed his accusers as the ones who are lying. His main defense is I don t
know, this is Socrates ignorance and he will argue this (Dr. Key).
He begins to address the two charges brought against him, by addressing the older accusers that he
cannot cross examine first because this is not the first time he has been accused of these things. He is
accused of not believing in the gods and teaches more on a physical reason. He brings to the jury s
attention of a play by Aristophanes, that had a Socrates character that, swings around, claims to be
walking on air, and talks a lot of other nonsense on subjects of which I have no understanding, great or
small (19c). He then addresses the accusations that he charges a fee to educate people (19e). Socrates
was showing that he is not an expert in these things, and was trying to who that these are qualities of
his accusers and not him. He explains to the jury that it was this question of wisdom, and whether he
was the wisest person in Athens, that he began questioning the wisdom of his fellow Athenian (21a b).
He points to this as to where it all started for him.
After bringing the attention to his old accusers, he turns to the accounts at hand. He questions his
accuser Meletus, first with the accusations that he is corrupting the youth of Athens. Socrates Asks
him if he is a bad influence then, who is the good influence, and Meletus answers, The laws (24b). He
continues to question about this answer and finds that all adults in Athens help shape the youth on
what is good, except Socrates (25a). He goes on to give an example with a

The system will become an action tool to help lead the organization toward transforming and
redesigning the health care within the community.
Human resources planning and allocation are critical links between the human resources strategy plan
and the organizational business plan. Assessing the future needs will require information about current
employee levels and their skills, along with projections of patient needs. Another requirement are
analytical tools for asking the what if questions when exploring alternative service strategies.
The health care organization will utilize the computerization within its function to experience a
number of strategic advantages. The three advantages are;
• HRIS enables the hospital s human resource department to make a more active role in
organizational planning. Computerization will make forecasting more timely, cost effective, and
efficient.
• Integration and storage in a single database all of the human resources information
• HRIS will accelerate the process of comparing costs and benefits of human resources activities.
The need for analysis, collection and management of human resources information has outpaced the
development of human resources information systems in many health care organizations.

alert until the very end. L Engle starts the story off with a friendly and welcoming mood by slowly
informing the reader about the characters, the setting, and the problem. Then, she progresses through
the plot at a thrilling pace, presenting multiple challenges to the characters. L Engle tells the story in a
clear and concise way so that readers can understand exactly what is going on in the story. Also, I feel
that A Wrinkle in Time was an allegory that had a strong and recurring theme true love can conquer
evil. Students in high school can read this novel to search for its figurative meaning while younger
students can treat this novel as an exciting fantasy. Overall, this novel is approachable to a wide
variety of audiences, and I would highly recommend A Wrinkle in Time.

Pride And Prejudice Gender Expectations
The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts a social structure in which there are clear gender
expectations. These gender expectations control and restrict the lives of both genders, most notably
women. In. Austen s world, women have few opportunities to support themselves, and have high
expectations attributed to them. Men were held to similar standards. Upper and middle class men were
expected to add to their families wealth, be charming, and eventually marry. Deviation from these
spoken and unspoken rules, such as Lydia and Wickham s elopement, would result in becoming a

Enkidu As A Hero In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu helps act as a catalyst for the transformation of Gilgamesh s
character from an undefeatable god like brute into a complex thinker. In the eyes of Gilgamesh, he is
unstoppable and is willing to challenge death itself so long as he is remembered as a hero by his
subjects. With Enkidu s help, Gilgamesh learns to become a better person as a ruler, not as a better

inseparable bond. Throughout the epic, Enkidu teaches Gilgamesh that he is not unstoppable, being
stubborn will not stop him from dying, and that there are no easy solutions to life.
At the beginning of the epic, before Enkidu is introduced, Gilgamesh is described by the narrator as
godly and fit for Uruk s throne by default. These descriptions are vital in order to interpret how the
villagers feel and also to perceive just how mighty Enkidu has to be in order to rival Gilgamesh.

Encounters with Death in The Masque of Red Death
After reading Edgar Allan Poe s The Masque of Red Death (317 22), the reader can only conclude that

view this tale as a battle between life and death (51 56). Yet, Leonard Cassuto brings an interesting

one who(lives) is Death. The narrator must be death himself (317 20). Reflecting back to the various

Virgina Clemm, Poe s thirteen year old cousin who he loved dearly and eventually married, also
succumbed to a similar fate as his mother. While singing she had burst a blood vessel in her throat,
causing profuse bleeding and the coughing up of blood. She simply bled to death. Again Poe was
forced to watch helplessly and endure another Masque of Red Death. In comparison, to better
understand the probability of this affliction we should refer to Marie Bonapartes Analytical
Interpretation : Haemoptyses do not last long, either: they occur suddenly and the scarlet blood
appears, especially on the face (514). To further clarify the disease Hemoptysis (current spelling

of pulmonary or bronchial hemorrhage . Hemoptysis, particularly if it involves a large quantity of
blood or recurrent, is a frightening, potentially fatal event. Despite systematic and intensive search, the
cause of hemoptysis is not found in 30 to 40% of cases (Beers MD, Berkow, MD 1999).
While not being able to understand the affliction that had taken away Poe s loved ones, he used his
brilliant imagination to convey how death had left an everlasting impression through his writing of
The Masque of Red Death (317 22).

Untangling the Relationship Between Race and Intelligence
A psychosocial phenomenon known as race has the power to bind a group of people together and
determine how they are expected to behave (Kendig, 2011). Our behaviour is determined by another
phenomenon known as intelligence (Colom, Karama, Jung, Haier, 2010). Since these are both such
fundamental aspects of how our society functions, it is crucial for psychologists to understand how
these factors interact. However, despite many circulating theories, psychologists have yet to agree
upon the extent to which these phenomena affect each other. In this essay, I will explore the reasons

to the fact that each race places different loadings of importance on different abilities (Sternberg,
Grigorenko, Kidd, 2005). It would be unreasonable to expect an Amazonian tribe member to
understand a question such as which design best completes the sequence? for example, because this
may not be the language or type of question they are accustomed to (Reynolds Suzuki, 2012). Yet
failure to understand such questions might affect their score and imply they are unintelligent according
to a standardised IQ test. This is known as a test bias , because the issue lies within the construction of
the measuring tool rather than a lack of intellect (Sternberg, 1980). As this example highlights, it is
necessary to acknowledge racial differences in scientific endeavours in order to achieve total
congruency, due to the diversity of cultural values. Assessing group differences between races is a
controversial area of psychology, because it requires the division and ranking of humans by socially
constructed groups. Although clear discrepancies between the groups do exist, causal factors have yet
to be determined (Mendez Spriggs, 2008). As humans

Essay On Electronic Funds Transfer
2.13
THE HISTORY OF ELECTRONIC FUND TRANSFER
The history of electronic fund transfer and electronic banking are to a large extent ,closely interrelated
with that of the automated banking systems and also the growth of the consumer financial service

Gender Themes In Alice s Adventures In Wonderland
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland holds a plethora of idea and theories that make up its fascinating
story and complex themes. However, the theories and themes that stick out the most throughout the
story are based upon an ideology of gender, class, and feminism. The story itself shows the
experiences of a little girl in a world that very closely reflects the Victorian era from which she was
accustomed. Overall, the novel breaks down the binary opposition of gender and the power dynamics
between adults and children. As a young girl during the Victorian era, much would be expected from
Alice concerning her behavior, appearance, and social cues. Especially since she was a young girl in
an upper class family. Throughout much of the novel, Alice is put down and even ignored because of
her role as a young girl. This reflects the way in which she would have been treated in her society and
how Carroll felt children s ideas and opinions were often treated in general. Aihong Ren, a critic on
the novel, points out that although Alice displays characteristics and manners of a young women
during the Victorian era, she also displays characteristics of a male hero (Ren 1). Alice s rebellion of
gender stereotypes and discourse towards the authoritative figures in the novel help to emphasis Ren s
point, and show that Alice is a complex character. Through the opinions of critics, such as Aihong Ren
and Jessica W.H. Lim, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is not just popular children s story,

III.A.iii) 3M Safety Company

3M is a specialized technology conglomerate firm that serves end users and global communities with

The firm has more than 30 business units, and was founded in 1902 as the Minnesota Manufacturing

III.A.iii.b) Author s rationale for choosing 3M as a market leader

As previously explained the two inimitable features of this helmet namely the Uvicator Sensor Disc
that protects workers from getting over exposed to UV radiation, as well the fully rotatable lining that
allows the helmet to be worn from front to back are the key reasons for the evident and prominent
price difference (amounting to over 55% when G3000 Uvicator is compared to the closest comparable
variant: the High Visibility variant of G3000 Solaris), which in turn are responsible for the G3000
Uvicator becoming an exception to 3M s market positioning

Persuasive Essay On Online Bullying
In today s progressive world, I believe it is better to consider online bullying in an immersed online
ethnographic research method, in order to fully understand how bullying is enacted in an online world.
It s also important to take this approach in order to understand what s misunderstood about online
bullying as a whole. Boyd (2010) states that if we are to know if online platforms act as a tool for
teenagers to perpetuate violence in the real world , we must look at what they are doing online. Boyd
finds that bullying does not dramatically go up or down when social media is introduced (Boyd 2015,
152). Digital spaces that are important in the lives of youth need to be understand both locally, and in
global contexts. Mallan, Ashford and Singh s (2010) article discusses iscapes as a way for todays
youth to hang out or communicate. The authors seek to answer the question, how do interactions
across iscapes affect the identity work carried out by today s youth. ( Mallan et al. 2010, 265).
Decheneaut et al. (2010) looks at an immersive ethnography in several online digital worlds. Bonilla
and Rosa state boldly that by using social media as their platform, subscribers can demand public
attention, and garner the attention from anthropologists by using hashtags (Bonilla et al. 2015, 5).
Technology changes how bullying is acted out, furthermore we consider online ethnographic
fieldwork in relationship to bullying as a real and viable part of anthropological studies.

The Life Of My Life
I was eight years old, all I could think about was my family. How was I gonna go to school? Would I
lose my friends? Would I ever see my brother again? I would write about my family breaking up. My
writing was on a piece of printer paper with pens, (I wasn t allowed to have markers at my mom s
house). She wasn t home much so I would write about the boys she brought home. How some of them
had tattoos and some of them had cool, funky hair. I was about 11 years old and my 5th grade teacher
told me to write about the best moment that had happened to me in the past 3 years. This was hard for
me, because my friend s would write about how they got a new Ipod or how they got a new bike but
me, the lonely 11 year old girl, would write about how her dad finally was granted complete custody
of me and my brother. I wrote about how he picked us up from our horrible school and unenrolled us
and took us home, to our real home. I described how my dad looked like he just won the lottery and
my brother and I just couldn t let go of him. My teacher was surprised that I wrote about something so
personal. I was only an 11 year old girl and I wasn t writing about the new bike I got or the new ipod I
got. I was different, and I was proud of this writing. My teacher called my dad and told him what I
wrote about. I came home and my dad told me to read it to him, tears were rolling down his face. I
thought he was sad but he was happy. He couldn t believe that his 11 year old depressed

The Incentive Plan Lost Adequacy As A Motivational...
In the beginning, the system consistently paid significant incentives. In the long run, this alerted
workers to view the incentives as a major aspect of their normal pay and not as motivating force to
move forward. The incentive plan lost adequacy as a motivational instrument. The employees
mentality is that of Vroom Expectancy Theory, in which motivation is a product of three elements:
valence (how much one wants a reward), expectancy (one s estimate of the profitability that effort will
result in successful performance) and instrumentality (one s estimate that performance will result in
receiving reward) (Newstrom, 2015 p.131 2). When cutbacks occurred, remaining workers became
insecure in their job and influenced their yearning to perform. They did just what was expected of
them to stay employed and nothing additional. Employees were not compensated for seven months
due to low productivity and profitability, which made the employees furious and distrust the plan
(Beer Collins, 2008 p.2). This is adequate evidence that supports McGregor s Theory X and Theory Y.
Despite the fact, that management was fully aware of the employees grievances and the need to
redesign the incentive plan, management does nothing to ratify their complaints. Evidently, Engstrom
management team is not meeting the mental needs of the workers and breaks Newstrom implication of
the unwritten mental contract that workers sign upon employment with the company (Newstrom,
2015, pg. 87 9). As a

Leaders must communicate the need for change widely and how that change will help everyone.
Leaders need to be proactive and talk to and listen to what the employees have to say, this will help
them feel involved and important doing the process. Researching how the Economic, Political, Techno

community. The economic trends if expanding the company is feasible at this time, financial concerns
of the clients have a direct effect on the progress of the company. Such as what kind of disposable
income are available, interest rates, inflation and the unemployment rates? All this reflect on the
manner of how the company will received payment for services rendered. If unemployment is too high
some previous clients will not be able to afford services, , but if inflation and interest rates drop there
would be more money for surgery and other projects that could be done around the building. The
political trends could involve official s policies and the wants and needs of their constituents
throughout the community. For instance if Hudson and Sanchez where to offered abortions and it wasn

their expansion. At the same time if they offered a service the community badly needed like, free

improve cosmetic appearance. The procedure may be done to remove: Cancerous growths such as
basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or melanoma. Noncancerous growths such as a cyst or

procedures, antibiotic ointment will be applied as needed. Complete Surgical Excision The area of
skin to be removed will be marked with a pen. Using a small scalpel or scissors, the surgeon will
gently cut around and under the lesion until it is completely removed. The lesion will be placed in a
fluid and sent to the lab for examination. If necessary, bleeding will be controlled with a device that
delivers heat (electrocautery). The edges of the wound may be stitched (sutured) together, and a
bandage (dressing) will be applied. This procedure may be performed to treat a cancerous growth or a
noncancerous cyst or lesion. Excision of a Cyst The surgeon will make an incision on the cyst. The
entire cyst will be removed through the incision. The incision may be closed with sutures. Shave

American Indian Music Research Paper
Recently there has been a new found interest in music history along with its cultures but the revival or
interest in American Indian music is nowhere to be found. One issue with popularization or revival of
American Indian music is its unique use of timbre which most western music lack, along with the
variations on sound, American Indian music is best understood from the context of their culture, past,
religion, and spiritual beliefs. When listening to music today there is a correlation with pitch of the
singer s voice along with the instruments complementing these sounds. In many of the cultural song of
the Indians it could be hard for someone in modern day to find a correlation with the pitch and the
instruments because at times it seems

  • 2. The Role Of Astrology In Greek Mythology Astronomy is defined as the study of non Earthly bodies and phenomena such as the sun, moon, stars, and planets. Human behavior is defined as the range of physical and emotional behaviors that humans engage in; biologically, socially, intellectually, etc. and are influenced by culture, attitudes, emotions, values, ethics, authority, rapport, persuasion, coercion and/or genetics. When combined, the two topics merge into a third one called astrology: the study of celestial entities and how they apply to the characteristics and affairs of humankind. Gibson observed Taylor (all patients are identified with pseudonyms), one of his ADHD patients, and found that Taylor displayed symptoms of ADHD: He could never just sit in his chair and wait for his teachers to call on him. He liked to walk around the classroom and talk to his friends, even when asked to sit down. On several occasions he was sent to the principal s office for punishment and redirection. Moral Code And Standards For Improving Individual Behavior I grew up without a mother and father and did not have moral principles instilled in me to help develop my moral code and standards for maximizing my utility in life. For example, some children are taught to show respect to parents, teachers, and elders. Respecting parents, teachers, elders, and other people within society can help to enhance relationships. The better the relationship, the better coexistence between people. Good moral principles allows a person to make the right decisions and improve their interactions with other people. These principles can help in improving individual behavior, inspiring respect, and enriching relationships of others. This appears to make perfect sense for most, but the Marines stress the 75% solution to help rapidly make decisions. In other words, you are to do your best to gather as much information as you can until you have approximately seventy five percent of the data and facts. Then, use your knowledge, skill, and perception to fill in the remaining twenty five percent. The Marines view is that it is always better to make a decision and execute aggressively with partial information, than it is to wait and make a perfect decision that may be too late and lead to undesirable results. You are taught to rapidly estimate a situation and make a solid decision based on that estimation. There is no room for reluctance to make a decision. If there is reluctance, then you revise it. The rapid decision making process has taught me to not be afraid to make a decision and learn from my mistakes and to respect the leader who corrects mistakes immediately and owns up to it. The second principle that I acquired from the Marines was the spirit of determination and commitment. In the Marines, you will endure and sacrifice for your fellow Marine. It certainly was not fun to work your butt off to only pay for someone else s mistake. It is easy to complain, but instead, you go help the weaker Marine in your unit and teach them how to become faster and grow stronger. Romeo talks about Juliet as a bright angel shining in the darkness of night, bright angel, for thou art As glorious to this night, being o er my head, As is a winged messenger of heaven Unto the white upturned, wond ring eyes This contrast between light dark or love death shows how closely they are linked. Romeo and Juliet are life to each other, but their love will eventually cause their destruction. Adorno s conception and more in line with the affirmative notions the aesthetic impulse. As such, the kind of aesthetics that I am eluded to here is not just a state of contemplation. It is much more. As Cramerotti describes in his aforementioned essay, it is rather the capacity of an art form to put our sensibility in motion, and convert what we feel about nature and the human race into a concrete (visual or bodily) experience . It is useful to introduce Deleuze s categories of the actual and the virtual and put them into motion. In his 1968 text Difference and Repetition , Deleuze explains that the virtual is not opposed to the real; it possesses a full reality by itself. The process it undergoes is actualisation. It would be wrong to see only a verbal despite here: it is a question of existence itself . Deleuze s category of the virtual , the realm of affects and Paterson s documents of darkness are united in their intangibility and their capacity to move the spectator beyond the familiar. Collectively, these forces harness the ability to transport the viewer to another time and place. In his 1992 text Chaosmosis: An Ethico Aesthetic Paradigm , Guattari describes this capacity as an ethico aesthetic paradigm, which pertains to subjectivity as well as art. • 8. The Importance Of Water Resources In Africa Water is one of the vital resources required by every living organism, yet a large percentage of the earth s people do not have access to an adequate and constant supply of water. In the developing world, many rural communities are located in water scarce areas, where there is uneven distribution of hydrological resources and economic and/or political barriers to pipe and distribute water from the ground or surface (UN, 2014). People living in developing and under developed countries live with unsanitary conditions where their everyday survival is the main concern. They are exposed to drought, famine and death as a result of water borne diseases come from unclean water sources and food shortage as a result of inability of land to grow crops. The problem of accessing fresh water will be more costly and difficult and it has become more wide even in developed countries (Rosegrant et al., 2002). Climate change and a developing water resource interest for agricultural and urban development are increasing the pressure on water resources and variability of the hydrological regime. By the year 2020 between 75 and 250 million people will be exposed to highly increased water stress in Africa, in some regions of the continent, 50% of yield and agricultural production will become more severely compromised as a result of food shortage (Ammar et al., 2016). • 10. Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence, friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. In Canada, and across the world, there are institutions that help care for people with these diagnoses. Nurses are one of the members of the health care team, and they help to try and reduce risks that can exist in aging Canadians. The purpose of this paper is to explore the risks of malnutrition in aging Canadians living in institutions who have vascular dementia. A nurse in an institution could use Bevis when implementing the interventions, for example in the first intervention, helping the resident identify cutlery, show them how to use it, this demonstrates teaching. (McMahon, 2009). The second intervention is changing the colour of the plates, this uses problem solving because when the resident is getting distracted then the implementation of colours can draw attention to the food. (McMahon, 2009). Lastly the third intervention about trying to talk to the resident s when they walk away from a meal uses the Bevis nursing tool, communication. Communicating to the resident helps bring attention to back to the meal (McMahon, 2009). When implementing interventions there are barriers that must be overcome in order to make them effective. For the first intervention dealing with helping them use cutlery, a barrier can be time. This can be an issue because care providers may not want to spend the time to properly teach the resident and want to do it themselves so that it is faster, it is important that the nurses be supportive and patient (McGinley, 2015). The second intervention about the coloured plates can have issues arise regarding money. If it is easier and more affordable for an institution to only have one colour plates, then having special plates for residents with vascular dementia could be a challenge. To overcome this, having the family bring in coloured plates if they are able to could resolve this problem (McGinley, 2015). Lastly, having a nurse sit with a resident with vascular dementia for the duration of the meal to stop their wandering could be a challenge because it is unlikely that an institution would be able to have health care professionals give their complete attention to only one resident. A way to over come this could be to sit a couple of residents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2007), human genomes consist of 20 000 30 000 genes coding for over 500 000 different proteins of which more than 10 000 proteins can be produced by the cell at any given time. These protein protein interactions are regulated by several mechanisms. To detect protein interactions on a large scale, the methods need to be suitable and have to meet several criteria. One of the technologies used here is the yeast two hybrid system. According to Auerbach et al. (n.d.), the yeast two hybrid system is a genetic system where an interaction between a known bait protein and its partner expressed from a library can be detected by reconstitution of a transcription factor and concurrent activation of a set of reporter genes. Furthermore, this system is well suited to high throughput applications that desire automatization. This approaches have used two complementary approaches which are the so called matrix approach and the library screening approach in order to screen large sets of proteins. In addition, this system offers a number of advantages over many of the biochemical procedures often used to analyze the protein protein interactions (Causier Davies, 2002). • 18. Essay On The Trojan War During the time of the ancient Greeks, there was much tension between the Trojans and the Greeks, leading to the famous Trojan War. It all started when Paris, the prince of the magnificent city of Troy, abducted a woman after making a deal with the goddess of love, Aphrodite. There are many variations on how the war began and the battles that took place during it, but one event stayed for certain: The story of the large, wooden horse that lead to the downfall of Troy. Most of the information about this historical event was recorded in Homer s famous works, The Iliad and The Odyssey. The Trojan War was started by a petty feud between three goddesses, fought by brave warriors, and recorded in Homer s Iliad and Odyssey. Conflicts began between the Trojans and the Greeks began long ago when King Peleus, who later on became the father of the Trojan War hero, Achilles, married Thetis, a sea nymph. Their marriage was celebrated by the all of the gods except for the goddess of discord and strife, Eris, who was not included in the celebration, (History.com). Infuriated, Eris threw her gift, a golden apple who was to be gifted to the fairest, amongst the guest. This wedding lead to the Trojan War because of the feud between the three goddesses, Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite, that occurred next. One example would be if the foreign buyer has the money in an IRA and is only permitted to withdraw a small portion without being penalized. The Reserve of Domain is easier and cheaper to set up than an ordinary mortgage. The buyer pays the seller most of the sales price for the property. Then the buyer and the seller enter an agreement regarding the payment of the remainder of the sales price. The deed is then put in Reserve by a Notario Publico. This is quite cleaver of Socrates to not only put himself as a defenseless man but also showed his accusers as the ones who are lying. His main defense is I don t know, this is Socrates ignorance and he will argue this (Dr. Key). He begins to address the two charges brought against him, by addressing the older accusers that he cannot cross examine first because this is not the first time he has been accused of these things. He is accused of not believing in the gods and teaches more on a physical reason. He brings to the jury s attention of a play by Aristophanes, that had a Socrates character that, swings around, claims to be walking on air, and talks a lot of other nonsense on subjects of which I have no understanding, great or small (19c). He then addresses the accusations that he charges a fee to educate people (19e). Socrates was showing that he is not an expert in these things, and was trying to who that these are qualities of his accusers and not him. He explains to the jury that it was this question of wisdom, and whether he was the wisest person in Athens, that he began questioning the wisdom of his fellow Athenian (21a b). He points to this as to where it all started for him. After bringing the attention to his old accusers, he turns to the accounts at hand. He questions his accuser Meletus, first with the accusations that he is corrupting the youth of Athens. Socrates Asks him if he is a bad influence then, who is the good influence, and Meletus answers, The laws (24b). The narrator speaks extremely fondly to emphasize just how mighty the main character is and that no other men in any of the nearby regions seem to come close when the level of their manliness is compared to that of Gilgamesh. Encounters with Death in The Masque of Red Death Essays Encounters with Death in The Masque of Red Death After reading Edgar Allan Poe s The Masque of Red Death (317 22), the reader can only conclude that death is the theme once again in another thrilling horror tale. Other critics such as Patricia H. Wheat, view this tale as a battle between life and death (51 56). Yet, Leonard Cassuto brings an interesting theory to this tale According to the narrator s own account, no one survives the Red Death. The only one who(lives) is Death. The narrator must be death himself (317 20). Reflecting back to the various critical analogies on tone, character, and allegory on The Masque of Red Death a certain aspect of this work has yet to be defined. The plague that devastated a ... While singing she had burst a blood vessel in her throat, causing profuse bleeding and the coughing up of blood. She simply bled to death. Again Poe was forced to watch helplessly and endure another Masque of Red Death. In comparison, to better understand the probability of this affliction we should refer to Marie Bonapartes Analytical Interpretation : Haemoptyses do not last long, either: they occur suddenly and the scarlet blood appears, especially on the face (514). To further clarify the disease Hemoptysis (current spelling Websters 1999ed.) as noted: The spitting of blood derived from the lungs or bronchial tubes as a result of pulmonary or bronchial hemorrhage . Hemoptysis, particularly if it involves a large quantity of blood or recurrent, is a frightening, potentially fatal event. Despite systematic and intensive search, the cause of hemoptysis is not found in 30 to 40% of cases (Beers MD, Berkow, MD 1999). While not being able to understand the affliction that had taken away Poe s loved ones, he used his brilliant imagination to convey how death had left an everlasting impression through his writing of The Masque of Red Death (317 22). • 41. Untangling the Relationship Between Race and Intelligence A psychosocial phenomenon known as race has the power to bind a group of people together and determine how they are expected to behave (Kendig, 2011). Our behaviour is determined by another phenomenon known as intelligence (Colom, Karama, Jung, Haier, 2010). Since these are both such fundamental aspects of how our society functions, it is crucial for psychologists to understand how these factors interact. However, despite many circulating theories, psychologists have yet to agree upon the extent to which these phenomena affect each other. In this essay, I will explore the reasons for division and ambiguity in the scientific community regarding the definitions and explanations of race and intelligence, and assess whether it is prudent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some racial groups value hunting knowledge because they are required to hunt for their food for survival, and some increase their chances of survival if they have the academic intelligence to succeed in a paid job. Considering this, standardised IQ tests fail to create statistically comparable results due to the fact that each race places different loadings of importance on different abilities (Sternberg, Grigorenko, Kidd, 2005). It would be unreasonable to expect an Amazonian tribe member to understand a question such as which design best completes the sequence? for example, because this may not be the language or type of question they are accustomed to (Reynolds Suzuki, 2012). Yet failure to understand such questions might affect their score and imply they are unintelligent according to a standardised IQ test. This is known as a test bias , because the issue lies within the construction of the measuring tool rather than a lack of intellect (Sternberg, 1980). As this example highlights, it is necessary to acknowledge racial differences in scientific endeavours in order to achieve total congruency, due to the diversity of cultural values. Assessing group differences between races is a controversial area of psychology, because it requires the division and ranking of humans by socially constructed groups. Although clear discrepancies between the groups do exist, causal factors have yet to be determined (Mendez Spriggs, 2008). As humans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Gender Themes In Alice s Adventures In Wonderland Alice s Adventures in Wonderland holds a plethora of idea and theories that make up its fascinating story and complex themes. However, the theories and themes that stick out the most throughout the story are based upon an ideology of gender, class, and feminism. The story itself shows the experiences of a little girl in a world that very closely reflects the Victorian era from which she was accustomed. Overall, the novel breaks down the binary opposition of gender and the power dynamics between adults and children. As a young girl during the Victorian era, much would be expected from Alice concerning her behavior, appearance, and social cues. Especially since she was a young girl in an upper class family. Throughout much of the novel, Alice is put down and even ignored because of her role as a young girl. This reflects the way in which she would have been treated in her society and how Carroll felt children s ideas and opinions were often treated in general. Aihong Ren, a critic on the novel, points out that although Alice displays characteristics and manners of a young women during the Victorian era, she also displays characteristics of a male hero (Ren 1). Alice s rebellion of gender stereotypes and discourse towards the authoritative figures in the novel help to emphasis Ren s point, and show that Alice is a complex character. Through the opinions of critics, such as Aihong Ren and Jessica W.H. Lim, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is not just popular children s story, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Persuasive Essay On Online Bullying In today s progressive world, I believe it is better to consider online bullying in an immersed online ethnographic research method, in order to fully understand how bullying is enacted in an online world. It s also important to take this approach in order to understand what s misunderstood about online bullying as a whole. Boyd (2010) states that if we are to know if online platforms act as a tool for teenagers to perpetuate violence in the real world , we must look at what they are doing online. Boyd finds that bullying does not dramatically go up or down when social media is introduced (Boyd 2015, 152). Digital spaces that are important in the lives of youth need to be understand both locally, and in global contexts. Mallan, Ashford and Singh s (2010) article discusses iscapes as a way for todays youth to hang out or communicate. The authors seek to answer the question, how do interactions across iscapes affect the identity work carried out by today s youth. ( Mallan et al. 2010, 265). Decheneaut et al. (2010) looks at an immersive ethnography in several online digital worlds. Bonilla and Rosa state boldly that by using social media as their platform, subscribers can demand public attention, and garner the attention from anthropologists by using hashtags (Bonilla et al. 2015, 5). Technology changes how bullying is acted out, furthermore we consider online ethnographic fieldwork in relationship to bullying as a real and viable part of anthropological studies. ... • 47. The Incentive Plan Lost Adequacy As A Motivational... In the beginning, the system consistently paid significant incentives. In the long run, this alerted workers to view the incentives as a major aspect of their normal pay and not as motivating force to move forward. The incentive plan lost adequacy as a motivational instrument. The employees mentality is that of Vroom Expectancy Theory, in which motivation is a product of three elements: valence (how much one wants a reward), expectancy (one s estimate of the profitability that effort will result in successful performance) and instrumentality (one s estimate that performance will result in receiving reward) (Newstrom, 2015 p.131 2). When cutbacks occurred, remaining workers became insecure in their job and influenced their yearning to perform. They did just what was expected of them to stay employed and nothing additional. Employees were not compensated for seven months due to low productivity and profitability, which made the employees furious and distrust the plan (Beer Collins, 2008 p.2). This is adequate evidence that supports McGregor s Theory X and Theory Y. Despite the fact, that management was fully aware of the employees grievances and the need to redesign the incentive plan, management does nothing to ratify their complaints. Evidently, Engstrom management team is not meeting the mental needs of the workers and breaks Newstrom implication of the unwritten mental contract that workers sign upon employment with the company (Newstrom, 2015, pg. 87 9).
