Relationship between Internal Organisation and National Culture and Institutions
Abstract
Employing a firm level research on internal organisation structure, this paper studies the influence
of Japanese national culture and institutions on internal organisation design of a Japanese MNEs. I
report that some output deriving from features of Japanese national culture and institutions such as
collectivism and Long term orientation have a strong impact on internal organisation, although it
does not keep consistency with Japanese national culture and institutions.

Low savings for retirement is good example of low LTO.
Although there are some criticisms of Hofstede cultural dimensions such as Dr. McSweeny s one,
Hofstede s work has been broadly admitted and employed as a comprehensive framework in the
common field of culture and business. (Chapman, 1997)
On the other hand, institutions are tidily defined as the social rules and regulations that make
human behaviour interactive, while some institutional theorists consider that institutions is a broad
concept including laws, regimes, constraints, as well as national culture considered informal
institutions (Peng, 2002) Nevertheless, there is another view in reference to the relationship
between national culture and institutions. Lewin and Kim (2004) suggest a co evolutionary
perspective, which is that national culture influences on the configuration of institutions by acting
as intermediate at national and firm level. In this report, I analyse the possibility of how national
culture and institutions affect on firms internal organizations in terms of the co evolutionary
perspective between them.

Japanese do not have the official religion. The national character also can be considered to be

The Contribution Of Marquis De Lafayette To Join The...
Marquis de Lafayette was born on September 6, 1757 in Chavaniac, France. There he was born
into a noble family. His father died in the French and Indian war and his mother and grandmother
died in 1770. He quickly gained a large amount of money from inheritance. With this inheritance he
joined the army and became married by the time he was 14.
Soon he heard of the Colonists struggle. Therefore in 1777 he decided to come to the United States
to join the revolution. In his first battle at Brandywine he was named a major general. He became
injured from a shot in the leg. Washington ordered for special care over his wound. This started a
friendship between these two fellows that would last until Washington s death.
In 1778 he was commanded

Reanimated Chickens And Zombies
Most of the time when you think of the word zombie, you think of a walking corpse that will eat
your face as soon as it gets the chance. What if we thought of zombies as an animal that is
brought back from the dead? Well, in that case, zombies have been around for a while. According
to David Casarett, author of Reanimated Chickens and Zombie Dogs, for over two hundred years,
scientist have pushed relentlessly at life s terminus, trying to find new ways to bring people back
from the dead when their hearts stop. There are many scientist that even grew famous for these
discoveries, theories and experiments. There are a few that may be disturbing to some readers, but
they are worth the mention.

David Casarett, there are many ways to preserve life after cardiac arrest. He says that all this

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh s Safar Center chilling dogs at a very low temperature

trials that are designed to save patients who wouldn t survive with conventional treatment.
Although these experiments are terrifying, downright disgusting, and in complete violation of
animal rights, they have led to recent studies on how to prolong human life. It is up to the reader
to decide if it is justifiable and to decide if it is worth experimenting on one s life to obtain

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
Jon Krakauer presents Into The Wild a tragic tale of a young ambitious man who is motivated to
go into the wilderness and discover his true identity.Jon krakauer conveys many messages to his
readers through Chris McCandless, and his messages often offer a warning to society.we will
furture idenitfy how the author delievers the warning to society and what effect it can have upon
society today.Three of the very important messages he empatizes on are the societies influence on
people, the essence of nature and the importance of fogriving someone.
Firstly we see how jon krakauer uses people and societies influence as a prime example to pass a
very important message. As we know American society seems to center around the idea of
american dream of going to the best university and to buy a new car, a new house overall to buy
anything and everything to look superior to others. This quote was said by chris which completly
descirbes our materalistic society So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will
not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security,
conformity, and conservatism. 56 57 Through the character Chris Mccandless we see how troubled
the author is by materalism and we also see authors disagreement to materalism when Chris denies
his parents offer to buy him a new car and by putting the strong emphasis on materalism the writer
makes the readers question the importance of the possesions and materalisms in

Essay on The Correlation Between Homework and Academic...
Ample research has been done on the correlation between homework and academic success with
many opposing views. Research has shown that homework can be linked to better grades, improved
standardized test scores, and more prepared students entering the post secondary arena; however,
this correlation is weak and the opposition has equal ammunition to support that there is no
correlation between homeworkand academic success. There have been movements to abolish
homework as well as movements to increase homework. Research has been done to show how
homework has a negative effect on students as well as how it has a positive effect. Homework may
be beneficial to academic success, but must have meaning to the student, must be measurable by...

In 1957 Russia launched Sputnik and America believed the education system had become too
progressive and children needed to do more homework to compete in the global arena. School

Homework, longer school days, a longer school year, better teachers, higher standards, better test,

Arm Wrestling With My Father Analysis
What would be a better expression of father s love? Squeezing each other s fists till strips of
tendons bulge out? Or wrapping arms around each other for a warm embrace? In Arm Wrestling
with My Father, Brad Manning experiences a change in his father s expression of love; from arm
wrestling, to a hug. In his story, Manning successfully depicts a boy who admired his father s
masculine strength and grows up to also respect his tenderness and gradually learns to replace his
father s role. His depiction is displayed through alternative comparison, sentence length, analogy,
and diction. Alternative comparison that emphasizes the father s physical massiveness strengthens
Manning s admiration and gratitude toward his father. Manning uses an alternative... Show more

Though Manning fears taking his father s place, he has perception of the imminent role switch
and gradually gets prepared for it. In the opening paragraph about starting an arm wrestle,
Manning says his father liked to put responsibility on [him]. His choice of using put
responsibility on me instead of he gave me the choice to start first illustrates how Manning
unconsciously knew his father will someday hand down his responsibility to him. Then in the
middle of the essay, he tells a story of how he joined a row club to gain small buildup along the
muscle lines, but it didn t seem enough he was still lanky and featureless. Despite his yet juvenile
muscles, Manning is putting effort to become a sturdy man like his father. Finally, Manning admits
that his and his father s roles have begun to switch. Already being a father of three children,
Manning could have chosen to write had begun to switch. But he uses the present progressive tense
to emphasize that he is still working on understanding his father s role and there s so much he

Over Switching
In Andy Molinsky s article Adapt a New Culture, but Don t Go Too Far , over switching is a
common behavior among individuals who make mistakes when they are pushing themselves too far
to match a particular culture. It is inevitable which can affect individual s life or career (Molinsky).
International students and workers are told that individualism is an important part of the culturein
the United States. While they are trying to adapt to that culture, mistakes might happen because of
their unappropriated language and behavior. The best way to minimize the effect of over
switching is to learn from interacting with people from the culture that you are trying to adapt
into. In the article, Cheng, a Chinese professional, hears from others that it is important to express
his ideas to colleagues because it can show his leadership potential. Believing it can make

Four Seasons Research Paper
The Four Seasons are known as Solar Festivals, in that they mark a seasonal change caused by
the Sun. The cross quarter days are marked by Fire Festivals and are usually celebrated as
significant agricultural festivals. Together the Solar Festivals and the Fire Festivals make up the
Wheel of the Year. The Wheel Of The Year, is often broken into eight festivals, whether they are
the eight Asatru Blots, Seasonal Festivals or Celtic Sabbats, and the observance of Solar energies
at the solstices and equinoxes and the Fire energies on the cross quarter days, is a common theme
throughout the world.
The Festivals of the Wheel of the Year also represent the active and dormant states of nature, man
and agriculture. Each of the festival days was ruled by a governing deity, whether a God or
Goddess, with each region having its own associated deity. From planting to reaping to winter to
summer... the seasons were of great importance to our ancestors, for their very existence depended
upon good harvests, mild winters, and enough rainfall.
Our days start at sundown on the previous day. Therefore, November 1 is actually the night of
October 31 through the day of November 1. Also, the dates given here are only applicable in the

The state does not have a right to get into the people s private affairs. People may argue that
freedom makes an extension beyond the normal spatial limits. It includes the freedom for
expression, belief, intimate conduct, and thought. This is the involvement of liberty towards both
the transcendent and the spatial dimensions (Goldberg 2003). Lawrence demands that the adults
have a right to make any engagements with other adults in their privacies and homes without the

Isolation In Stephanie Meyer s Twilight
Deeper Into the Twilight
Modern vampire interpretations are supposed to be relatable or desired, they are no longer
supposed to be feared. Stephanie Meyer s book series Twilight is one of the most popular teenage
vampire interpretations. The vampire characters within the movie are metaphors for the teenager.
It is common for teenagers to feel isolated from their surroundings and the people around them.
The Cullen s in the movie are automatically isolated from the rest of the town because they are the
newest citizens and live outside of the town isolated from everyone else. When Bella Swan invited
Edward Cullen to come to the beach with her group of friends he declined feeling like he would
not be wanted there. One of the characters, Angela, had this to say while they were at the beach,
It was nice that Bella invited Edward, nobody ever does. This is what Mike had to say in
response, That s because Cullen is a freak. The other male characters in the scene chimed in with

Water Is An Essential Part Of Human Lives
Water is an essential part of human lives. People not only need water for consumption, but also
utilize it daily in several ways; this includes bathing, washing, sewage/waste, watering outdoors,
etc. Water is essentially everywhere. Although access to water in the United States often seems so
simple and easy, water is not always in the form people see coming out of the faucet. There are a
variety of water sources on the Earth. Although from several sources, water has a distinguished
cycle on the planet. Examining the water cycleand the sources of water on the earth can help bring
a better understanding of water usage and available resources.
According to the NASA Earth Observation, over 75% of the Earth s surface is made up of
water (Graham, Parkinson, Chahine, 2010). The Earth s total water content is roughly 1.39
billion cubic kilometers, or 331 million cubic miles (Graham et al., 2010). As seen in Figure 1,
there are a variety of categories the Earth s water can be broken up into. Over 96% of the Earth s
water is made up of the five oceans (Graham et al., 2010). When examining water simply in terms
of freshwater, most of the reservoir comes from glaciers and ice caps. By examining these
percentages, a greater knowledge of the Earth s total water supply can be gained. These percentages
can also be factored into the water cycle to better understand how water rotates through the Earth
and the atmosphere.
The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle, describes

Abstract:
Time operated electrical appliance controlling system is a reliable circuit that takes over the task
of switch on/off the electrical devices with respect to time. This project replaces the Manual
Switching. Most used devices at home are electrical light, electric fan, air conditioner. Operator
may not be at home and may be somewhere in a different place and if the necessity arises to
control these home appliances there must be some source to control and monitor the home
appliances. It has an Inbuilt Clock which tracks over the Time. When this time equals to the
programmed time, then the corresponding device is switched ON. The switching time can be
edited at any Time using the keypad. The Clock is displayed on LCD display.
Introduction:
The main objective of this work is to design and construct a micro computer based system to control
electric appliances such as light, fan, heater, washing machine, motor, TV, etc. The most important
problems
faced are the misusage of electricity and its wastage. Sometimes due to carelessness of the
persons lamps or fans are left ON which results in wastage of electricity. The project helps to

Discussion The gram stain result showed that my unknown was a pink long individual rods this
means that it is a gram negative bacilli. The growth on the agar of unknown appear off white with
straight growth and the broth growth was uniform fine turbidity. Uniform fine turbidity means
there is cloudy growth throughout the test tube. As time progressed the broth appeared clear with
some sediment. This could suggest that the bacterium is a slow grower or that the cells are older
and dying. This can affect the results of testing. We did to place an agar slant and broth tube in the

temperature being the growth in tube with the thick white clunks floating throughout and the

How Is George Justified In Of Mice And Men
In life, people are faced with tough decisions every day. In the novelette Of Mice and Men,
written by John Steinbeck, George was forced to make a tough decision and ended up
euthanizing Lennie. George was put in this situation because Lennie killed Curley s wife. He
kills Lennie to protect him from society as well as protect society from Lennie. Also, Lennie is
unable to make decisions on his own, so he always looks to George for answers. Though Lennie
s death may seem like a murder, George s actions are justified when he kills Lennie due to the
reason that it was a mercy killing. George kills Lennie because he poses a threat to society since
he does not know his own strengths. In Weed, Lennie harassed a girl, but George was there to

Even though Israel is The Jewish State , demographics for 2014 show the population to be 75%

Boosting Testosterone Research Paper
There are many factors to boosting testosterone, and most of it all comes down to the two main
issues of we are what we eat and use it or we lose it . This means that like any great chef must
have the right ingredients in order to prepare the greatest meal, our body needs the right
ingredients or foods in order for it to create, make or produce testosterone. The key ingredient is
cholesterol and there are many stages to its production where the testes break down the cholesterol
into other types of hormones and compounds first before finally arriving at the finished product
testosterone. However, within this metabolic process of breaking down the cholesterol, the body
also needs other microscopic quantities of essential minerals and compounds

The Short Term Mission Trips
Think about the poverty and problems that all countries around the world are facing today and
every day. As Americans we have an urge to go into these countries to help as much as possible
because of that we have begun a revolution. Americans began going on mission trips around the
1960s but did not really pick up until the 1990s. The trend grew after multiple natural disasters,
Americans saw and need and went, since then short term missiontrips show no sign stopping
anytime soon. As the popularity of leaving our comfort zones, many people have found issues with
the way the trips are led to the extent of questioning whether or not these trips are really worth the
amount of money and time that they consume. Through periodicals, interviews, narratives, and
articles, I will show the issues and improvements that could be made to the living situations, attitude
of the Americans, and relationships that are acquired during the short term mission trips.
In October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch slammed onto the coasts of multiple South American
countries. Countless people lost their homes, over eleven thousand people lost their lives, and
the hurricane left five billion dollars worth of damage in its wake ( Hurricane Mitch ). This
event caused a new wave of events also of short term mission trips. Americans seeing the cities
torn to shreds decided to act. For a couple of weeks at a time, different groups would go clean up,
rebuild, and show love to the people of these devastated

Comparison Of Freud And Jentsch s Concept Of The Uncanny
In 1919, Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, published his own psychological
investigation on the notion of uncanny. Previous studies were conducted on this subject by the
German psychologist Ernst Anton Jentsch, and served as the starting point for Freud s analysis.
However, the feeling of uncanny was not an easy concept to identify. Jentsch concluded that it
fits in the area of the fear of the unfamiliar and intellectual uncertainty. Freud, with some
opposition to Jentsch s investigation, took it further from what Jentsch concluded. Freud
theorizes that the uncanny is that class of terrifying which leads back to something long
known to us, once very unfamiliar. (Freud, 1) Coraline by Neil Gaiman as well Harry Potter by
J.K Rowling include examples of both Freud and Jentsch s concept of the uncanny .
Firstly, the etymology of the word uncanny is informative. In English, its etymology is
straightforward. The meaning of the word is like the antithesis of heimlich...meaning familiar ,
native , belonging to home . (Freud, 2) To be canny is to be good at dealing with things.
Contrary to canny, uncanny are things which we can not comprehend or believe. To us humans,
many things are frightening, yet familiar: spiders, snakes, height, failure, loss of loved ones,
driving, etc. These are not uncanny because we understand loss, discomfort, and death. When we
are faced with these situations we know why we are frightened, but that

Byzantine Influence On Christian Art
The first centuries were a period of turmoil as well as triumph for many empires, countries, rulers,
and religions. Rome experienced its first Christian emperor, Constantine, who transferred the capital
of the Roman Empire from the west to the east. Christianity replaced the gods of antiquity as the
official religion of the culturally and religiously diverse state in the late 300s (Brooks). This
religious shift resulted in a change in the subjects of artwork that was created across the empire.
Furthermore, Christian basilicas and churches were being built and decorated with a variety of
Christian motifs which sought to transport the viewer into a heavenly realm. With the mass amount
of changes that occurred within a short amount of time, the Roman Empiredecreased in size and

Constantinople is known today as Istanbul and is located in modern day Turkey. During the time
of the Roman Empire, Constantinople was an important port city in the middle of east west trade.
Being centrally located in trade as well as extending over various countries and cultures resulted in
a variety of artistic styles. The subject of many early artworks was the Virgin (Theotokos) and
Child which progressed to other Christian themes such as Christ the Good Shepherd and Christ the
Judge. Many of these artworks were done in mosaics and are found in basilicas and churches
throughout the territory of the Byzantine Empire. Due to Byzantine control over countries that
were Christian and Islamic, symbols from both religions became focuses of art and were able to

Citizen Kane Conventions
Orson WellsВґ film Citizen Kane, has long been regarded as one of, if not the greatest film of all
time. It has been beloved by critics for decades and will be at or near the top of any list of great
movies. Part of this appeal lays in the fact that, Citizen Kane, challenges many of the preexisting
narrative and technological aspects of filmmaking in the 1930s. Citizen Kane, defied or adjusted
these traditional conventions in order to suit its own narrative and because of that it is still one of
the most groundbreaking and influential films of all time.
One of the main areas where Citizen Kane, adjusts and challenges the conventions of its time is
through its own narrative structure. Even by today s standards of film, Citizen Kane, ... Show more

In the movie the use of camera focus and long takes builds upon the technology developed in the
30s (Lewis, Smoodin 113). Wide shots that capture several elements at once such as the shot of
KaneВґs family speaking to a banker with Kane himself in the far background are an example of
the use of the clever use of the camera. Long takes and shots of Kane walking in large rooms
also seem to defy then conventional wisdom to have many shorter takes instead focusing on
several elements for long periods of time (Lewis, Smoodin 112). But it is not only in camera
techniques where the film pushes boundaries. In lighting the film makes heavy use of various
lighting techniques in order to show many of the characters in shadow or conversely to use large
amounts of light in certain shots (Thomas Youtube). In terms of sound the film is able to use
effective sound mixing to mix in several characters speaking at once along with background noise
(Thomas Youtube). It also integrates the microphones into the background to avoid using boom
mics and allowing the viewer to see the ceiling of buildings, helping to establish a greater sense of
realism (Thomas Youtube). Finally the film even makes heavy use of Matte paintings in the
background, something that had been pioneered in the 30s and is used effectively in the film
(Lewis Smoodin 110). Altogether the film is able to make good

Essay about Madisonian Majorities
Since time began, it has always been human nature for man to compete and win. Just like when it
comes to majorities and minorities, majorities tend to overpower minorities. Guinier makes a great
point when she brings up, Madisonian Majorities, which are minorities working with the majority
to achieve a solution. By working in this format, we could achieve so much more in much peaceful
ways. Madisonian majorities could be best applied to a democracy, because both the majority and
minority can work together to satisfy the needs of its citizens. Madisonian Majorities helped shape
countless laws that many Americans benefit from today, including the architecture of our
government. Therefore, Madisonian Majorities are vital to a democratic... Show more content on

This compromise was a true defeat of the tyranny America was living under before the revolution.
Guinier points out what one colonist said, We have been so long habituated to a jealousy of
tyranny from monarchy and aristocracy, that we have yet to learn the danger of it from democracy
(888). America overcame the tyranny of the majority, by coming up with the Great Compromise
and by working with the minority. As a result of the Great Compromise, Democracy was born in
the western world because of a Madisonian Majority. America graciously missed the danger
thanks to this compromise. Many people say that it is our human nature to fight, known by many
as survival of the fittest. However, approaching issues in a Madisonian Majority style, would be a
much more civilized and intellectual way of resolving our issues. In school and in many textbooks
we are taught that a democracy is a form of government in which the people rule by popular
sovereignty. The people elect representatives to satisfy their political and economic needs.
However, this definition of democracy wasn t always true. Into the first one hundred years of our
government, only white property owning men could vote and have a say in our government. They
were the majority, and the minority was composed of ethnic groups and women. It wasn t until the
passing of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments that the minority had a greater voice in

unlevered betas of comparable companies, 0.91, and relevered it according to Dixon s target
capital structure. Dixon s 5 year historical debt ratio was 27.5%, but this approach would not be
reliable due to its steep downturn debt ratio from 51% in 1975 to 6% in 1979. Thus, we thought
that the best estimate of the target debt ratio is 15% for calculation of the WACC. The risk free

Overall, the installation of this laminate is a great project. Power savings will lead to an IRR of
16.37% for the 15% power reduction case and 18.14% for the 20% power reduction case. The
NPV of the project became positive $ 97,000 for the 15% power reduction case and $ 1.23
million for the 20% power reduction case when discounting at the WACC (Exhibit III).
Attractiveness of Collinsville Proposal on economic grounds From an economic standpoint, the
Collinsville proposal is not attractive due to a negative NPV. This acquisition will devalue of
the firm by $ 1.8 million and will provide a 12.86% IRR which is below WACC for Collinsville
plant. Namely, expected return of the project will not satisfy estimated risk. Thus, Dixon should
not invent in the plant and is recommended to research other alternative projects if possible. In
more competitive market, easier entrants can push any economic revenue down to zero. The sole
reason why the firm decides to enter the competitive market is to take alive economic revenue. For
this Collinsville plant, there is no economic driver for Dixon to enter the market with the
acquisition. Attractiveness of Collinsville Proposal on Strategic grounds From a strategic
standpoint, Collinsville appears to be a good investment for Dixon even though there is no
beneficial motivation on economic ground. From the fact that Dixon Corporation had produced a

Simeon Fat
This historical research brought Simeon to the analysis and studying of fat in the human body and
the various forms it takes on. Simeons establish that the body has three types of fat. The first is
structural fat which fills in gaps between organs, and as Simeons puts it, acts as a packing material.
It helps protect our arteries, provides bedding for the kidneys and keeps the skin smooth and taut.
Structural fatalso provides the springy cushion underneath the bones in our feet. The second is
normal fat which is our normal reserves of fuel that can be drawn on by the body for energy. Fat
packs a high amount of calories in a small amount of space and is used for muscular activity and the
overall maintenance of the body including its temperature.

The Causes of American Revolution Essay
The American Revolution was a conflict between 13 British colonies on the eastern seaboard of
North America and their parent country, Great Britain. The war resulted in the colonies becoming a
separate nation, the United Stated of America. It is also known as the American War of
Independence.
The Seven Years War left Great Britain with the expensive responsibility of administering newly
acquired territory in North America. The British Parliament passed the Stamp Act in 1765 to raise
revenue to pay a share of the empire s defense costs. The Stamp Act required the colonists to use
specially stamped paper for all official documents, newspapers, and pamphlets. It provoked almost

The first armed encounter of the American Revolution
took place in Massachusetts in April 1775.
British lieutenant general Thomas Gage was aware that

reorganized into active elements known as minutemen.
On the night of April 18, 1775, Gage sent troops to

The Environment And The Global Economy
Environmental Stewardship Our modern world is largely dependant on two, well entangled things:
the environment and the global economy. Without the environment, mankind would fall apart. Our
atmosphere would quickly cease to support human life. The ozone layer would deplete, flooding
the earth with greater amounts of radiation. Biodiversity would damage water sources and
destabilize the climate. Additionally, the global economy facilitates the trade of goods and
materials which satisfy the demands of over seven billion people. These products are produced all
around the world, by thousands of different companies. They provide all the equipment for
emergency services, the technology for education and the food for our diet. Interruptions in the
global supply chain often result in protests, resource shortages, along with economic impacts.
Sometimes companies make poor decisions, often to reduce expenditures or by negligence, to make
money at the expense of the environment. These companies are held accountable for their actions
and are fined if they are found guilty of violating environmental laws. Unfortunately, it is rather
common for companies to disregard environmental concerns for their personal benefit. This
situation causes governments to intervene and serve large fines or criminal charges to the
perpetrators, holding them responsible for their actions, or lack there of. This essay will go over
three cases which highlight the practice of monetary and/or criminal

The Book The Wolves Of The Walls, The Sandm Dream...
Throughout the second semester of my first year attending Rogers State University, I learned
valuable life lasting lessons, concepts, and morals that will forever change the way that I view the
world and the people that make up the cultures and societies in it. Multiple works that I studied
and discussed in class consist of works by Neil Gaimansuch as The Graveyard Book, The Wolves in
the Walls, The Sandman: Dream Country, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Another
important work that influenced me along with the Gaiman works is Never Let Me Go by Kazuo
Ishiguro. These literary works influenced me to think about the meaning of lifeand the purpose in
my life because my life is not always guaranteed to be here tomorrow. Although I still take things
for granted, I have learned from studying these works that the things in this life should be
appreciated because they have meaning and a purpose. While I studied multiple literary works
this semester, I believe that the five works discussed above had the greatest impact on me as a
student, a brother, and a friend because they taught me important values I will always cherish
and reflect upon in the wide, wide world. The first work that had an important influence on me
was The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. This piece of literature follows a boy named Bod who
is adopted by the inhabitants of a graveyard that consist of ghosts, witches, and a vampire.
Throughout the work, Bod is discovering who he is and where he came from in

It has a lot of stereotyping for example, having graffiti on the walls and that drugs are dealt on
the premises. Also it showed that the school had certain types of groups and portrayed that the
school had fights and that they happen very often. In some case the black American and other
minority groups like the Hispanics were the one getting into fight. At the beginning of the clip, a
school bell is ringing; this sets the atmosphere and allows the audience to know that the film is
based in a school. The music played throughout the scenes is a rock/rap song that is fast beat one

Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath
Mirrors reflect the innermost part of the soul. A mirror can show you at your most beautiful and
your most unpleasant times. Sylvia Plath s poem Mirrors , conveys a message that is much deeper
than the words printed on the page. The denotation of Mirrors provides the reader a basic reading
of the poem, whereas the connotation gives a deeper meaningto the work. Plath s word usage
conveys two meanings to Mirrors, allowing the reader to better personalize the work. I am silver
and exact. I have no preconceptions. / Whatever I see I swallow immediately / Just as it is,
unmisted by love or dislike. / (Plath 739 lines 1 3) Reading these lines obviously describe a
mirror. The mirror is a first person narrator describing itself; it is silver and exact with no
preconceptions . It takes in whatever looks at it and feels no emotion towards it. Studying the
text shows a deeper meaning. The mirror is exact, nothing is wrong with the object itself. The
mirror does not have any feelings, it will not judge whomever is looking into it. Whatever looks
into the mirror will see its entire self, without filters of love or dislike. The next lines follow I am
not cruel, only truthful / The eye of a little god, four cornered. / (Plath lines 4 5) The mirror is not
mean, it only shows the object its true reflection. It seems to be a god like entity since it sees all.
The connotation is seen as the mirror shows you who you truly are. It casts back an image that
some are happy with

The Is Not Our Type
On Monday, September 14, my partner and I set out to find someone that was Not our Type .
When I first heard about the assignment I was extremely nervous for what would lie ahead. I m
not a very talkative person and hardly ever just have random conversations with people that I don t
know. I knew that this assignment would certainly get me out of my comfort zone, and cause me to
really branch out. A huge part of talking to others about Christ is to just start up a simple
conversationto work off of. It can become even more difficult when someone has a different
background or separate moral values. I was by no means looking forward to the awkwardness
that would possibly lie ahead, we decided that the best place to start would be Walmart since
people are there 24/7. We walked in at around 9 p.m. and started our search. After about 20
minutes we finally decided to make our move on someone. We walked up to a young man that
looked to be in high school and began our conversation. We started off by just introducing ourselves
and telling him that we were working on an assignment and just wanted to get to know him a little
bitbetter. The conversationactually flowed really well and we had a lot in common like our love
for sports and technology. His name is Dilan Patel and he s a junior at Siloam High. You can
probably tell by the last name that Dilan is Indian. I knew going into the conversation that he would
be very different from us morally, ethnically, and even physically.

Bilingual Is The New Black
Bilingual is the New Black
Today we live in an increasingly globalized world. In the United States alone over 60 million
people speak a language other than English when at home (Speaking in Tongues). While most
schools require at least two year of foreign language, this is not really enough to familiarize
yourself with a language. It would not only be in the students best interest to do this, but also the
schools as it increases academic achievement. It also improves your cognitive functions and
benefits society. All of these factors led me to this conclusion: everyone should take at least four
years worth of foreign language classes. Many Americans argue that because English is quickly
becoming the global language, Americans should not have to learn other languages. They are
operating under the following pretenses: there wouldn t possibly be anyone we would want to
communicate with that does not speak English already, other countries should teach their citizens a
second language (English) so that they can communicate with us, and learning another language is
only beneficially if it directly influences us gaining more opportunities. These biases are misguided.
Learning another language will benefit you for your entire life. It will help you through school,
improve your mind permanently, and create opportunities for you and society. Don t conform to the
American stereotype. Trust me, it is worth your while to learn a foreign language. Learning a
second language begins

Dante s Work
Dante s work, in all its complexity and its value, was a contemporary landmark even only if we
consider the admiration which Boccaccio sent to him; over the centuries, from Chaucer and
Chateaubriand, to Miguel de Unamuno, all the great minds have turned to the model represented
by Dante. Although Vita Nuova it is widely known as the most noble manifesto of Italian poetry
(Hede, p.34), and the most perfect expression of the sweet new style, a mostly candid and
ingГ©nue story of Dante s love for the Florentine Beatrice Portinari, Dante s name became
synonymous with The Divine Comedy.
The writer began to write his masterpiece since 1307, before his exile years, and it was the capital
work that Dante has developed until the last moment of his ... Show more content on

How did Dante thought to express this imaginary reality, in such a concrete appearance?
It should be added before giving an answer to this question that the main purpose of the author
was not necessarily to create a work of art, which the audience would simply admire. He wanted
to provide first and foremost a teaching tool, to make us reading his book to think of ourselves
and maybe to place ourselves exactly where we think we deserve.
Transposing us in those situations, trying to correct our lives, we can avoid the infernal circles.
Dante is not only the writer who thinks that structure, but also the character that passes through
Hell (Raffa, 11). He got there because at one point in his life he got lost.
Sins are punished by equivalent rules (which in Italian were called the Legge del contrapasso ).
Each type of sin is punished in an equivalent manner. For example the lustful, those who cheated
in love, have betrayed their pair, will fly as birds and will be struck by rocks, without any second
of rest. What was their fault in life? They did not stuck with their partners, but have wandered in
search of other love affairs, and they struggled to find new carnal pleasures.
Now they are not allowed any time off and rest; the

Canada s Energy Policy Should Be Beneficial
Canada is one of the biggest energy producer in the world. Currently Canada is ranked 5th in
regards to its production of energy in the world. Canada s energy policy, should revolve around
the natural resources and their optimum use to produce cheap and clean energy, which should be
environmental friendly. Our policy should be beneficial for all the Canadians living in different
parts of the country and that the policy should not discriminate among the provinces. Canada is
also the biggest consumer of the energy in the world, as it consume most of energy per capita
because of the extreme weather conditions that it face. We need to keep ourselves warm and need
to transport goods and people from one place to another. Canada s energy policy should be sound
and aggressive and be comprehensive. Generally world energy is produced using the fossil fuel,
whereas in Canada we have adequate alternative energyresources such as wind power, tidal power,
solar energy, hydro power and nuclear energy. Our energy policy should be developed to explore
these resources.
Our current state of energy resources are reliable, we use natural gas oil hydro, coal and nuclear
power to produce energy. Canada s current energy resources can be divided into renewable and
non renewable resources. The renewable resources includes hydro, wind, solar, biomass, tidal
power. Whereas non renewable resources include oil, gas, coal and other fossil fuels. Canada s

Advertising Vs Populism
Commercials airing on the television or radio, the billboards on the side of the freeways trying to
grab your attention to buy their product, even while scrolling through various social media
platforms, we go through our day to day lives with advertisements all around us. In Jack Solomon s
essay, Masters of Desire: The Culture of American Advertising, he states that the main purpose of
all these advertisements is to show us our unhappiness within the American dream. He goes on to
describe the differences in these advertisements which are known as the populist ads and the elite
ads. Solomon s description of the contradiction between populismand elitism very much affects the
way advertising and media is portrayed in American society. This contradiction brings forth the
purpose of these different advertisements, the audience in which it is intended for. For example, the
elite advertisements are presented to American society on beautiful glossy stock paper within
magazines, or in luxury car commercials where the extraordinary cars can be seen zooming along
the coast or back roads enjoying the drive up to the cabin. With all these flashy advertisements one
can only assume that an ...extraordinary car deserves an extraordinary advertisement, and that both
[the] car and [the] ad are aimed [towards an] extraordinary consumer... (Solomon 168). These elite
advertisements start to scrutinize the audience s financial status. They do this to start determining
if the advertised

Consequences Of Forest Fires
Human activity has been extremely prevalent on earth, and the truth is the repercussions of our
actions are harming the environment around us. From forest fires to deforestation, and the way
our agriculture has changed over the past decades. Forest fires are caused by dry lightning,
especially in places that are lacking water. Fires occur primarily in the North American southeast as
well as the southwest. There are about three billion lightning strikes every year. Another main cause
of forest fires is humans. Human caused fires are due to un attentive campers or sometimes even
purposely by arsonist (Nix).
These fires are devastating and can have extreme consequences. First off, it produces smog in the
air contaminating our air supply as well as further harming our ecosystem. The main areas in which
forest fires or wildfires occur include Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, California, Idaho, Washington
and Oregon. These areas undergo extremely bad forest fires within in the United States of
America, In California out of control fires are regularly aggravated by the hot, dry Santa Ana
winds, which can convey a spark for miles. Customary techniques used for battling a wild fire
incorporate water dousing and showering fire retardants to quench the existing flames. Clearing
vegetation to make fire breaks which keeps a fire from fuel and can help moderate or contain it.
Firefighters additionally battle rapidly spreading fires by intentionally beginning flames in a

Within the past 10 years our societies technological advantages have been somewhat space age
like, even alien like characteristics. Technologies, which ten years ago only existed in our dreams
but yet, have become reality. Things like, the revolutionary iPhone and its almost seamless touch
screen tech; as well as the new advancements in our cultures most prized possession, The Internet.
In this subject based paper, I will take a closer look into a fairly new emerging technology, which

Typical information system for a B2C provides application or virtual storefront by which consumers
enter and manage their orders in the Cloud / Network.
E Commerce is the electronic purchasing and selling of goods and services over a private and or
public computer network, which is usually Internet based. For instance, you as a customer would
select an item online with the network, and then through this network would affect the
purchase. This transaction is also known as a Clearinghouse or electronic exchange. Majorly all
e commerce applications utilize the three tier architecture, which can be seen in Figure 8 5 of
the Experiencing MIS textbook. The three tiers are made up of a user tier, server tier, and a
database tier. The user tier consists of computers that have browsing capabilities that request and
process web pages, and other database through the Cloud technology, as well as Web 2.0. The
server tier also utilizes computers that run Web servers to generate Web pages, Cloud locations,
and other data in response to request from browsers. These servers also process application
programs as well. Most importantly the database tier is in place to run the database management
systems (DBMS), and receive and process structured query language (SQL) to receive and store
data. As effective as e commerce is, there are some major setbacks that plague the industry. Some

Minimum Degree Of Negligence
Probably not. Because the standard of care employed by the relevant statute is a minimum degree
of care, the CWS has a burden of proving that Ms. Ryan failed to exercise more than ordinary care,
and that her act was grossly negligent. The degree of negligence necessary to find an act to be
grossly negligent is generally measured by the nature of the act that is willful and wanton. Ms.
Ryan s conduct undoubtedly demonstrates her inattentiveness and a certain degree of negligence
because she left her very young children unsupervised in her apartment where they are only 8
and 4 years of age respectively. However, more likely than not, the court will hold that her
neglectful act does not give rise to the extent of gross negligence because Ms. Ryan depended on
the babysitter to show up very shortly based on the fact that she was almost always punctual.
Additionally, young children often cry and it is common for a 4 year old to wet her pants
regardless of the fact that a parent pays the closest attention possible to the child. Ms. Ryan will
have to concede that she was careless to leave the stew simmering on the stove when she left the
apartment, yet, the court will likely find that this was not done willfully and wantonly as she
intended to prepare the dinner for her children to ensure that they were going to be fed.... Show

The story of Fahrenheit 451 is about a firefighter in the future, Montag, whose job is to burn
books. After a few weeks, his life makes a big turn, changing his view of life, books and almost
everything. Fire is mentioned many times in the story and symbolises different things like feelings.
In the book Fahrenheit 451, the author ray Bradburyuses fire to symbolise death, time and safety.
The first is death. Montag steals and reads books, so when he is caught and forced to burn his
own home, he also burns his boss, Beatty. The fireman chief yells at Montag for reading books
and wanting to make a change. So Montag turns the hose on him, causing Beatty to die. his death
was brutal, however it didn t last long: And then he was a shrieking blase, a jumping, sprawling,
gibering manikin, no longer human or known, all writhing flame on the lawn as Montag shot one
continuous pulse of liquid fire on him (113). The fire in this part of the story causes death. ... Show

The Benefits of Extracurricular Activities for Students...
It is important for adolescents to participate in extracurricular activities. Student who participate in
these activities improve their academic scores and social life. Extracurricular activities can also
help reduce many peer pressure related problems. They enrich the lives of the students, their
families and our communities. These activities create well rounded children who learn what their
interests and talents are because they have been exposed to such opportunities (Extracurricular
Activities, Blogadmin). For most adolescents extracurricular activities should be required among
what they do outside of school. What are extracurricular activities? Extracurricular activities are
those sponsored by and usually held at school but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many activities also require a minimum grade point average (GPA) to join (Dowshen). This
requirement is a boost for most of the students to excel in school so they can participate in these
activities. Although extracurricular activities take up a lot of time they are worth the time that a
student puts into it (Extracurricular Activities). So why are extracurricular activities important?
Extracurricular activities shape how a person acts within him or herself, in the community, and
their performance in school. Schools should highly encourage every student to be in some type
of activity (Hollrah). Although extracurricular activities can help improve students academics,
they can also have a bad effect on how grades turn out. Extracurricular activities take time, and
this can affect on how much time the student has to complete home work or study (Wells). This
can lead to a student doing poorly on tests and in the big run, failing the class which will hurt the
student college applications. If a student that is involved in a sport is badly injured, this can
affect the student because he or she is missing school, and then all the work that is missed will
have to be made up. Stress is also a big factor that is put together with extracurricular activities.
Stress can affect how the child does in school; if a student is stressed out, they can get sick. Being
sick requires the child to stay home and then they will

Meshing Vs Code Switching
There are two methods that have been a cause of research and debate about. Those are code
meshing and code switching. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages, therefore, people
seem them from different perspectives. Code meshing refers to blending dialects and languages
with Standard English in the other hand, Code switching refers to shifting between dialects or
languages in different settings. Code switching from my perspective is a better pedagogical
alternative than code meshing. Additionally, I consider code switching as the best tool to refer to
different audiences. Since I am an English learner I disagree with the idea to incorporate another
English based languagebesides Standard English. Consequently, to adding a new English form it
will increase dramatically the difficulties an English learner face to understand and to fully speak
English.

audience is named Code meshing. This method is based on ... Show more content on

Essay On The Role Of Canada In Peacekeeping
Canada s role in peace keeping around the world
Canadians strongly believe that peacekeeping is about trying to protect people from extreme harm,
a way of providing hope in situations that seem hopeless, and a good method of bringing peace and
justice to war torn countries or failed states. Canadian soldiers in their peacekeeping role have been
so strong for such a long time that it has generated into their national identity. Canadians take pride
in the peacekeeping legacy of their country. Canada has always considered peace keeping part of the
country s identity. While Canada s contribution to the United nations have been varied. It can be

It can be seen that today s peacekeeping environment is more complex than ever before. Canada
firmly believes that it needs to do peacekeeping differently. That s why the people are focused on
improving the effectiveness of UN missions, increasing the proportion of women deployed
overseas, and empowering women in all aspects of peace and security. Canada is known
throughout the world for it s willingness to contribute troops to peace keeping missions and has
participated in more missions then any other country in the world. Canada s first major contribution
to peacekeeping came with the creation of UNEF in 1956. It was originally intended that the
Queen s Own Rifles of Canada be deployed but, somewhat understandably, President Nasser of
Egypt objected because it sounded too British. (Carroll, 2016) Canada s involvement with thematic
issues at the United Nations and its policy contributions regarding peacekeeping, doctrine, training
and peacebuilding represents a large part of the country s agenda at the United Nations. (Badescu,

Using both current assets and current liability for 2009 thought 2011 I can see how liquid the
company can be in the short term.
In 2009 Green Mountain Coffee Roaster Inc had a working capital of about 413 million, and a
current ratio of 4.30. I can use the current ratio number to compare Green Mountain with other
larger or smaller companies in the same industry. In 2010 the company s working capital went
down to 257 million, and there current ratio went to 2.08. Then in 2011 they had a up swing
with a working capital of over 660 million, and a current ratio of 6.78. This data shows that from
2009 to 2011 Green Mountains working capital went up over 37 percent in just two years. In
contrast there current ration went up from 4.30 to 6.78 in just two years, that is an increase of
2.48 in a short time. When looking at these numbers I can see a big change in liabilities from
2009 to 2011. In 2010 Green Mountain took on a lot more liabilities than in previous years, but in
2011 that risk really paid off. Someone must have told them it takes money to make money, because
that is exactly what they did with there extra liabilities. Although having too many liabilities can be
bad thing, so can having assets that aren t making more money for a company.

Bessie Coleman Informative Speech
I am very glad you all could make it today to join me in grieving the late Bessie Coleman, you
might know her as Queen Bess . She lived a life much more exhilarating and adventurous than
most of us will ever experience. Her life was like the airplanes she flew, lots of ups and downs
with some unexpected tricks along the way but there will be people cheering you on while you do
tricks. Bessie would always tell that that she would amount to something and damn right, after a lot
of work she did.
The women who we all think so highly of did not have a great starting out. Born on January 26,
1892 in Atlanta, Texas in a one room, dirt floored cabin to her parents, George and Susan, who were
illiterate and children of slaves. Attempting to turn their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one in the United States would accept her as a black woman to flight school. That led her to
study French and move to France to attend flight school where she completed seven months of
flight training so she was able to perform in air shows. To her disadvantage, Bessie was taught on
a 27 foot biplane that was known to fail frequently, even in the air. She also witnessed a fellow
student die in a crash during training but that did not stop her from pushing on and achieving her
goal.
Her story blew up in African American news and Bessie Coleman became a household name. It
was unheard of that a woman, let alone an African American, was a pilot. Soon Bessie did learn
that it was hard to make money off being just a pilot so she returned to Europe to train in
acrobatic flying, barnstorming as some may call it. She was going to perform stunts in air
shows and that was unheard of! She returned to the United Stated as the first African American
woman to earn an international permit to fly in 1921. Now it was time for Queen Bess to wow
the people with what she could do. She performed for the first time in the United States in New
York and was called The World s Greatest Woman Flyer. She was on top of the world. She was
able to roll the plane, stop the engine in the air and start it again before the plane landed. She
shocked everyone with her incredible talent but she wasn t finished

My Personal Goals And Goals Of A Good Teacher
Introduction During the past four weeks in Guadalajara, I have received well designed and
intense training from ITTO and as a result, I have learned an immense amount about how to
design lesson plans confidently, regardless of type of class (conversation, grammar, etc) and
regardless of availability of resources (textbooks or no textbooks, etc). While I believe that I
have always had a passion and aptitude for teaching, ITTO has given further tools in the form of
practical training and job search guidance. I have progressed well during this short but intense
period of training but I will continue to improve as I work as an English teacher in Latin
America going forward. What is a Good Teacher? In my opinion, a good teacher has the
following qualities: He teaches because he enjoys the process of improving the academic and
professional lives of students, instead of doing it strictly for the money. As a result, students
recognize and appreciate his passion for teaching and develop a trusting and respectful relationship
with the teacher He creates a nurturing environment that is warm, accessible, and caring. He
encourages students to show effort and to ask questions openly in class without fear of mockery
by peers He works hard to prepare the lesson materials and he is adaptive to unpredictable
circumstances, such as when students arrive late to class, the course has to be taught without a pre
existing textbook, or when the lesson takes longer than he anticipated and he

Although there are some criticisms of Hofstede cultural dimensions such as Dr. McSweeny s one, Hofstede s work has been broadly admitted and employed as a comprehensive framework in the common field of culture and business. What if we thought of zombies as an animal that is brought back from the dead? Well, in that case, zombies have been around for a while. According to David Casarett, author of Reanimated Chickens and Zombie Dogs, for over two hundred years, scientist have pushed relentlessly at life s terminus, trying to find new ways to bring people back from the dead when their hearts stop. • 12. Isolation In Stephanie Meyer s Twilight Deeper Into the Twilight Modern vampire interpretations are supposed to be relatable or desired, they are no longer supposed to be feared. Stephanie Meyer s book series Twilight is one of the most popular teenage vampire interpretations. The vampire characters within the movie are metaphors for the teenager. It is common for teenagers to feel isolated from their surroundings and the people around them. The Cullen s in the movie are automatically isolated from the rest of the town because they are the newest citizens and live outside of the town isolated from everyone else. When Bella Swan invited Edward Cullen to come to the beach with her group of friends he declined feeling like he would not be wanted there. One of the characters, Angela, had this to say while they were at the beach, It was nice that Bella invited Edward, nobody ever does. This is what Mike had to say in response, That s because Cullen is a freak. The other male characters in the scene chimed in with their agreement on his comment. People not only need water for consumption, but also utilize it daily in several ways; this includes bathing, washing, sewage/waste, watering outdoors, etc. Water is essentially everywhere. Although access to water in the United States often seems so simple and easy, water is not always in the form people see coming out of the faucet. There are a variety of water sources on the Earth. Although from several sources, water has a distinguished cycle on the planet. Examining the water cycleand the sources of water on the earth can help bring a better understanding of water usage and available resources. According to the NASA Earth Observation, over 75% of the Earth s surface is made up of water (Graham, Parkinson, Chahine, 2010). The Earth s total water content is roughly 1.39 billion cubic kilometers, or 331 million cubic miles (Graham et al., 2010). As seen in Figure 1, there are a variety of categories the Earth s water can be broken up into. Over 96% of the Earth s water is made up of the five oceans (Graham et al., 2010). When examining water simply in terms of freshwater, most of the reservoir comes from glaciers and ice caps. • 28. Comparison Of Freud And Jentsch s Concept Of The Uncanny In 1919, Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, published his own psychological investigation on the notion of uncanny. Previous studies were conducted on this subject by the German psychologist Ernst Anton Jentsch, and served as the starting point for Freud s analysis. However, the feeling of uncanny was not an easy concept to identify. Jentsch concluded that it fits in the area of the fear of the unfamiliar and intellectual uncertainty. Freud, with some opposition to Jentsch s investigation, took it further from what Jentsch concluded. Freud theorizes that the uncanny is that class of terrifying which leads back to something long known to us, once very unfamiliar. (Freud, 1) Coraline by Neil Gaiman as well Harry Potter by J.K Rowling include examples of both Freud and Jentsch s concept of the uncanny . Firstly, the etymology of the word uncanny is informative. In English, its etymology is straightforward. The meaning of the word is like the antithesis of heimlich...meaning familiar , native , belonging to home . (Freud, 2) To be canny is to be good at dealing with things. Contrary to canny, uncanny are things which we can not comprehend or believe. The British Parliament passed the Stamp Act in 1765 to raise revenue to pay a share of the empire s defense costs. • 36. The Environment And The Global Economy Environmental Stewardship Our modern world is largely dependant on two, well entangled things: the environment and the global economy. Without the environment, mankind would fall apart. Our atmosphere would quickly cease to support human life. The ozone layer would deplete, flooding the earth with greater amounts of radiation. Biodiversity would damage water sources and destabilize the climate. Additionally, the global economy facilitates the trade of goods and materials which satisfy the demands of over seven billion people. These products are produced all around the world, by thousands of different companies. They provide all the equipment for emergency services, the technology for education and the food for our diet. Interruptions in the global supply chain often result in protests, resource shortages, along with economic impacts. Sometimes companies make poor decisions, often to reduce expenditures or by negligence, to make money at the expense of the environment. These companies are held accountable for their actions and are fined if they are found guilty of violating environmental laws. Unfortunately, it is rather common for companies to disregard environmental concerns for their personal benefit. This situation causes governments to intervene and serve large fines or criminal charges to the perpetrators, holding them responsible for their actions, or lack there of. Throughout the second semester of my first year attending Rogers State University, I learned valuable life lasting lessons, concepts, and morals that will forever change the way that I view the world and the people that make up the cultures and societies in it. Multiple works that I studied and discussed in class consist of works by Neil Gaimansuch as The Graveyard Book, The Wolves in the Walls, The Sandman: Dream Country, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Another important work that influenced me along with the Gaiman works is Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. These literary works influenced me to think about the meaning of lifeand the purpose in my life because my life is not always guaranteed to be here tomorrow. Although I still take things for granted, I have learned from studying these works that the things in this life should be appreciated because they have meaning and a purpose. While I studied multiple literary works this semester, I believe that the five works discussed above had the greatest impact on me as a student, a brother, and a friend because they taught me important values I will always cherish and reflect upon in the wide, wide world. The first work that had an important influence on me was The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. • 39. Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath Mirrors reflect the innermost part of the soul. A mirror can show you at your most beautiful and your most unpleasant times. Sylvia Plath s poem Mirrors , conveys a message that is much deeper than the words printed on the page. The denotation of Mirrors provides the reader a basic reading of the poem, whereas the connotation gives a deeper meaningto the work. Plath s word usage conveys two meanings to Mirrors, allowing the reader to better personalize the work. I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions. / Whatever I see I swallow immediately / Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike. / (Plath 739 lines 1 3) Reading these lines obviously describe a mirror. The mirror is a first person narrator describing itself; it is silver and exact with no preconceptions . It takes in whatever looks at it and feels no emotion towards it. Studying the text shows a deeper meaning. The mirror is exact, nothing is wrong with the object itself. The mirror does not have any feelings, it will not judge whomever is looking into it. Whatever looks into the mirror will see its entire self, without filters of love or dislike. The next lines follow I am not cruel, only truthful / The eye of a little god, four cornered. / (Plath lines 4 5) The mirror is not mean, it only shows the object its true reflection. We walked in at around 9 p.m. and started our search. After about 20 minutes we finally decided to make our move on someone. We walked up to a young man that looked to be in high school and began our conversation. We started off by just introducing ourselves and telling him that we were working on an assignment and just wanted to get to know him a little bitbetter. Using both current assets and current liability for 2009 thought 2011 I can see how liquid the company can be in the short term. In 2009 Green Mountain Coffee Roaster Inc had a working capital of about 413 million, and a current ratio of 4.30. I can use the current ratio number to compare Green Mountain with other larger or smaller companies in the same industry. In 2010 the company s working capital went down to 257 million, and there current ratio went to 2.08. Then in 2011 they had a up swing with a working capital of over 660 million, and a current ratio of 6.78. This data shows that from 2009 to 2011 Green Mountains working capital went up over 37 percent in just two years. In contrast there current ration went up from 4.30 to 6.78 in just two years, that is an increase of 2.48 in a short time. When looking at these numbers I can see a big change in liabilities from 2009 to 2011. In 2010 Green Mountain took on a lot more liabilities than in previous years, but in 2011 that risk really paid off. Someone must have told them it takes money to make money, because that is exactly what they did with there extra liabilities. Although having too many liabilities can be bad thing, so can having assets that aren t making more money for a company. The asset turnover ratio is a number that, Measures how efficiently a business uses its average total assets to generate sales (Nobles, 2014 p637) The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Bessie Coleman Informative Speech I am very glad you all could make it today to join me in grieving the late Bessie Coleman, you might know her as Queen Bess . She lived a life much more exhilarating and adventurous than most of us will ever experience. Her life was like the airplanes she flew, lots of ups and downs with some unexpected tricks along the way but there will be people cheering you on while you do tricks. Bessie would always tell that that she would amount to something and damn right, after a lot of work she did. The women who we all think so highly of did not have a great starting out. Born on January 26, 1892 in Atlanta, Texas in a one room, dirt floored cabin to her parents, George and Susan, who were illiterate and children of slaves. Attempting to turn their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one in the United States would accept her as a black woman to flight school. That led her to study French and move to France to attend flight school where she completed seven months of flight training so she was able to perform in air shows. To her disadvantage, Bessie was taught on a 27 foot biplane that was known to fail frequently, even in the air. She also witnessed a fellow student die in a crash during training but that did not stop her from pushing on and achieving her goal. Her story blew up in African American news and Bessie Coleman became a household name. It was unheard of that a woman, let alone an African American, was a pilot. Soon Bessie did learn that it was hard to make money off being just a pilot so she returned to Europe to train in acrobatic flying, barnstorming as some may call it. She was going to perform stunts in air shows and that was unheard of! She returned to the United Stated as the first African American woman to earn an international permit to fly in 1921. Now it was time for Queen Bess to wow the people with what she could do. She performed for the first time in the United States in New York and was called The World s Greatest Woman Flyer. She was on top of the world. She was able to roll the plane, stop the engine in the air and start it again before the plane landed. She shocked everyone with her incredible talent but she wasn t finished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. My Personal Goals And Goals Of A Good Teacher Introduction During the past four weeks in Guadalajara, I have received well designed and intense training from ITTO and as a result, I have learned an immense amount about how to design lesson plans confidently, regardless of type of class (conversation, grammar, etc) and regardless of availability of resources (textbooks or no textbooks, etc). While I believe that I have always had a passion and aptitude for teaching, ITTO has given further tools in the form of practical training and job search guidance. I have progressed well during this short but intense period of training but I will continue to improve as I work as an English teacher in Latin America going forward. What is a Good Teacher? In my opinion, a good teacher has the following qualities: He teaches because he enjoys the process of improving the academic and professional lives of students, instead of doing it strictly for the money. As a result, students recognize and appreciate his passion for teaching and develop a trusting and respectful relationship with the teacher He creates a nurturing environment that is warm, accessible, and caring. He encourages students to show effort and to ask questions openly in class without fear of mockery by peers He works hard to prepare the lesson materials and he is adaptive to unpredictable circumstances, such as when students arrive late to class, the course has to be taught without a pre existing textbook, or when the lesson takes longer than he anticipated and he ...
