Pros And Cons Of Police Militarization
Introduction:
Police brutality and police militarization are becoming hot topics of discussion in the United States
today. The dangers of police militarization are becoming more prevalent and cases of the use of brutal
force by police are becoming more common. Recently, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that
the Trump Administration s repeal an Obama era rule limiting the distribution of certain military
equipment such as tracked vehicles, camouflage uniforms, high powered rifles, bayonets, and grenade
launchers. With events like that of the killing of Michael Brown by a Ferguson, Missouri, by a police
officer, a massive show of force by cops decked out in military gear were deployed after dangerous
riots were conducted in the city. This then leads to the question at hand. Should police be militarized?
What is Militarization:
To better analyze the situation, we must first understand what militarization is. Militarization is the use
of military equipment and tactics by police officers. This includes the use of armored vehicles
,weapons like assault rifles, submachine guns, grenades, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, and SWAT
teams.

Because of the overwhelming disadvantage, LAPD officers checked local gun shops for military grade
weapons to return fire and defend themselves. During the standoff, eleven officers were injured, one
of the gunmen committed suicide and the second gunman was eventually killed. Because of this
incident, there was an understandable reason that officers be better armed to face such situations in the
future. Since then, gang violence in inner cities like Chicago and terrorist incidents, especially after
the 9/11 attacks, have prompted many law enforcement agencies to ensure police officers are able to
cope with heavily armed adversaries, whether those adversaries are domestic or

Betsy Ross Speech
Even though Betsy Ross is best known for creating and sewing the American flag, this has never been
officially proven. However, there is a great amount of evidence that she was very influential in the
making of the flag. These words by her say it all, Our hearts aching, our prayers praying, our flags
waving, never forget. 1 Elizabeth Griscom, also known as Betsy Ross was born on January 1, 1752 in
Philadelphia to her loving parents Rebecca and Samuel Griscom. She was the eighth child out of
seventeen.2 The same year she was born was the year the Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia. Her
father had the honor to assist in building the tower that surrounded the bell where it was placed. Her
parents were part of the Quaker religion, also known as the Society of Friends, which left Betsy living
differently than the colonist. With the determined Quaker religion, she was not allowed to attend plays
or read storybooks because it promoted a world of fantasy rather than the story of the Bible. The
Quakers also forbid music within their culture because it provided no movement to the people and
developed corrupt thoughts within an individual.3 During this time period many families were fairly
large, but a majority of the children often died from diseases at a very young age. In Betsy s family
only nine of the children survived to be adults. Every Sunday and Thursday the Quakers would attend
a church service that lasted two hours long. The men and women sat facing each other, while

Alkyl Bromide Lab Report
Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2
reaction.
Introduction
A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this
reaction proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction
where a nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which expels
the leaving group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from the back,
which leads to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that the
nucleophilic attack and the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors which
are essential for a SN2 reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon, sometimes the
reaction works with secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is due to steric
hindrance expressed by secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be able to attack on

The reactants were 1 butanol, H2SO4 and HBr. The limiting reagent in this reaction was 1 butanol.
The moles of 1 butanol that was used in this reaction were 5.00g/(74.1 g/mol)= 0.0674 moles. The
percent theoretical yield should be 100% and since 1 mol of 1 butanol should result also result in 1
mol of 1 bromobutane. The theoretical yield of the product should be 0.0674 moles. The experimental
mass of the product 1 bromobutane was 3.390 g and the molar mass of 1 bromobutane is 137.0 g/mol.
So, the moles of the product are 3.390g/(137.0g/mol)= 0.0247 moles. Hence, the yield of this reaction
is 0.0247/0.0674x 100= 36.65%. The yield was very low due to errors such as inconsistent heat
applied during refluxing and simple distillation, error while transferring the product from the distillate
to a flask and the product could have dissolved all leading to low

Thomas Cole The Oxbow
WESTWARD EXPANSIONISM After viewing the five different works of art offered to write this
essay, the piece that spoke to me personally and emotionally was The Oxbow, painted by the artist
Thomas Cole in 1836. I truly love the outdoors aspect of pure and unadulterated nature isolated from
societies approach to technology, over population, and lack of true freedom. I go camping and hiking
with my daughter whenever possible, so I truly appreciate the recognition of natures beauty and
vitality. The artist used canvas with oil and the medium and its dimensions are 51 œ x 76 in. Upon
further inspection I realized that the painting shows juxtaposing with the tamed and cultured land on
the right and the untainted and untouched nature, with brooding darkened clouds on the left. The
contrast of light and dark colors also indicate this and whispers to my subconscious. The Oxbow will
subliminally remind anyone that the subject is the controversial ... Show more content on

There is a line on the bottom half of the work that goes up diagonally towards the left. Obviously this
is how the artist brings contrast into play to depict his message of civilization on the right and
untouched nature on the left. Secondly, there are two trees on the far left, possessing hard lines that
draw ones eye towards the top left corner towards the darkened clouds. In my opinion, Thomas clearly
brings startling detail and political conclusions about the time of expansion and the negative
commentary that surrounded it. Moreover, there is a short hill with light lines highlighting the still
scarred land. The art of persuasion is skillfully utilized to illustrate how taming the land can bring
positive and beneficial changes, although surrounded with negative undertones of raping the land.
While lines have been skillfully utilized, there are other elements to consider such as

Amazing Grace Play Analysis
On July 22nd, 2015, I was given the opportunity to witness a remarkable Broadway Play, called
Amazing Grace. I attended this play along with my fellow peers from the Rutgers College of Nursing
EOF program. This was the first time for most of my peers along with myself to attend a Broadway
show. Amazing Grace depicts the issue of slavery during the 1780s and the early 1800s. The main
character John Newton faced many challenges throughout the play and in the end he overcomes those
hindrances by realizing slavery degraded human beings.
One of the features that made the play exciting was the sound effect. Throughout the play, there were
many sound effects of gunshots, the ocean, and storms. These sounds captured my attention and made
me feel as if I was involved in the show. Typically, I am a person who gets uninterested easily at
things I do not enjoy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The setting changed very often of the play and every new setting was excellent. It was amazing how
the people from the production of the play were able to master every setting with such a small
environment. There was this one scene toward the intermission where John Newton was travelling in a
ship and there was a storm, which destroyed the ship, and John Newton was drowning. However, John
Newton s friend, an African American slave, saved him and swam up to the shore. During this scene
there was a screen, which came down in front of the stage, and the effects made it look similar to a
view from under the ocean. Behind the screen one could see Thomas grabbing onto John Newton and
swimming up toward the surface of the water. This was truly amusing for the reason that it convinced
me to think it was actually water. Thus, the setting played a major role in capturing the attention of the
audience, which made everything look as if it was all happening in the 1780 s to

Likewise, for centuries, people and corporations have invested in enterprises in other countries. In
fact, many of the features of the current wave of globalization are similar to those prevailing before
the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. But policy and technological developments of the past
few decades have spurred increases in cross border trade, investment, and migration so large that
many observers believe the world has entered a qualitatively new phase in its economic development.
Since 1950, for example, the volume of world trade has increased by 20 times, and from just 1997 to
1999 flows of foreign investment nearly doubled, from $468 billion to $827 billion. Distinguishing
this current wave of globalization from earlier ones, author Thomas Friedman has said that today

Postsecondary enrollment options, 2012). This is a state funded program, with affiliated state colleges

Health Information Technology Impact On The Quality Of...
Health Information Technology Impact on the Quality of Care The health care industry is driven
forward by the advancements in technology. Advancements in technology has improved the way
health care treatments are delivered to patients. Patient outcomes are affected in the way that the care
is being delivered. Technology has found ways to not only improve the way it is being delivered but
has also made it more efficient in how it is being done so. Therefore, healthcare quality has improved
with the advancements in technology. Health Information then and now Health information
technology has improved dramatically since early doctor visits conducted by Greek medical
practitioners. During that time frame there was no internet to rely on transfer of information, no
telephone lines to communicate with other health care personnel to bounce ideas off of and there was
no social media platforms, such as YouTube, in which medical information can be reviewed. The
ability to access information has dramatically changed from then to now. Back then, medical
professionals had to rely more on skills and use what they can to arrive to a positive outcome.
Information technology today has been able to make positive strides in the way paper based supports
have been slowly phasing out in favor of a computer based system. Computer based systems with
various amounts of patient information has led to an increase in efficiency while maintaining costs
low. Physicians now have the ability to reduce

The major difference between sustainability and sustainable design is the ability of a designer to
design a product to be classified as a sustainable design and which also complies with the rules that
guide the environmental, economic and social impact of the product.
If we are to deal effectively with the many contemporary issues of environmental degradation and
social inequality of the resources and benefits of society, we are going to have to rethink our notions
of our materialism culture, especially in the economically developed countries. The power to change
the way we design, manufacture our products, recycle and market it falls on the designers. Potentially,
designers can make a significant contribution to this undertake by developing possible solutions that
challenge precedents and demonstrate alternative possibilities. But to achieve this according to Stuart
walker we will need to change design education and design practice and develop new understandings
of product aesthetics and our notions of what can be called a good design.
Stuart Walker went on to say, depending on whether we like it or not, within the discipline of
industrial or product design industry, there is a major emphasis on product appearance, in both
professional practice and design education, and it is this engrossment that, in many ways, renders
Products aesthetics hollow and superficial.

`` Daddy `` By Sylvia Plath
Over six million innocent lives were taken during the Holocaust. It had a significant effect on much of
the world s population, and it still has an impact to this day. In Sylvia Plath s poem, Daddy , she shows
her emotions for her father, Otto Plath. Sylvia Plath lost her father at eight years old when she still had
much love for him (Famous People Biography ). After a number of years, hatred is built up inside of
Sylvia towards her father. When her father first died, she loved him and she grieved over her father s
death. After years of confusion, she eventually decided and wrote, Daddy, Daddy, you bastard, I m
through (Line 80). In Daddy by Sylvia Plath, the author resents her father and husband so much that
they are comparable to Nazi Germans, showing her feelings for them through poetic devices. The
speaker says that her German father is like a Nazi and that she feels like a Jew. This metaphor is the
most powerful one in the entire poem. It shows us as readers how she feels like she is a victim of her
father. She never directly calls him a Jew though. She points to the fact using metaphors and imagery.
For example, the author wrote: I thought every German was you. And the language obscene An
engine, an engine Chuffing me off like a Jew. A Jew to Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen. I began to talk like
a Jew. I think I may well be a Jew. ( Daddy Lines 29 35) She compares the German language to a
train, taking her to a concentration camp. Her father speaks German so this

One Trip To The Trashcan
Times are tough, and more people are cooking at home than dining out. However, some of them are
starting to get frustrated with how much time it takes to prepare a good meal. Here are three great tips
to make cooking faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Cooking Tip #1: Make One Trip to the Trashcan
Running back and forth to the trashcan is aggravating (as well as inefficient). You can make only one
trip by lining a colander, sink strainer, small trash can, or other wide mouthed receptacle with a plastic
shopping bag and keeping it next to your cutting board. If your cutting board happens to be right next
to the sink, place the lined receptacle in the basin. Otherwise place the receptacle at your feet (but be
careful not to trip over it). Toss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Limiting the use of our utilities is not only beneficial to our budget but also to the environment as
well. Here are several useful and lesser known tips in conserving energy while you are in the kitchen.
While being in the kitchen, the stove is one of the main items that will use up the most energy, so it is
important to be wise with your energy consumption when cooking on it. Adjust the burners when
using a gas based cooking top so that the flames just barely touch or are a tad lower than the bottom of
the pans you are cooking on. Flames that curl around a pan waste more energy. However, if you are
using an electric cook top, put the pan on a coil that is similar in size. Place the pan so that its bottom
lies absolutely flat on the burner. This will conserve a great deal of energy. Also, when using an
electric stove, set the burners on high first and then proceed to lower it to finish the cooking. For
dishes that aren t pans, turn off the burner completely at the end as the element will hold the heat for
several minutes. In addition to your stoves, the oven vent on an electrical range can be very useful. If
you are using an oven vent on an electrical range, you will find that the vent is under one of the
burners. While the oven is in use, you will be able to feel the hot air flowing through the vent. For
dishes that you would like to warm, set them on that burner. This will minimize the use of a
microwave and will also optimize the use of your burners. Now, for dishes that need to cook for long
periods of time, particularly over an hour, there is no need to preheat your oven (unless you are
cooking a turkey that needs a crisp skin). For dishes that must be cooked just under an hour, extend
the cooking time for a little bit. The only preheating that is required is for dishes that have a short
baking time. Although this seems like a very obvious tip

Osteoporosis Is The Most Common Bone Disease
Osteoporosis
Background: Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease and is characterized by low bone mass,
deterioration of bone tissue and disruption of bone architecture, compromised bone strength, and an
increase in the risk of bone fracture. The World health organization (WHO) defines osteoporosis as
having a bone mineral density (BMD) at the hip or the lumbar spine of less than or equal to 2.5
standard deviations below the mean BMD of a young adult reference population. Based on data from
the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III (NHANES III), NOF has estimated that
more than 9.9 million Americans have osteoporosis and an additional 43.1 million have low bone
density.2 About one out of every two Caucasian women will experience an osteoporosis related
fracture at some point in her lifetime, as will approximately one in five men.
The bone remodeling process consists of continually removing older bone and replacing it with new
bone and plays and important role in maintaining a healthy skeleton. A decrease in bone density
occurs when this balance is altered, resulting in greater bone removal than replacement. This
imbalance is seen greatly with advancing age and menopause. With the onset of menopause, the rate
of remodeling increases and it increases the risk of fractures.
Prolia (denosumab) is a RANK ligand that is approved by the FDA in 2010.

Americ Land Of The Free, And Home
America: land of the free, and home of the brave. People have often traveled long and far to live in a
safe, and esteemed environment, when in reality the core values of America change as time goes by.
Even though Americans often value individualism, patriotism, nationalism, and individual liberty,
history has proven otherwise. Wars, social norms, rights restrictions, expectations and peer pressure
have gotten in the way of the values that many believed highlighted America. The saying, history
repeats itself has haunted the future of America greatly. As the years go by, individual freedom is
minimized, and citizens are slowly conned into the conformist society that many live in today. The
definition of success in itself has changed for the worse; changing from knowledge and efficiency to
materialism and wealth. Even though many have become prominent victims of conformity and have
been deprived of their individual rights in the past, the American value of patriotism, individual liberty
and individualism should stand strong in the hearts of Americans now and in the near future.
Americans in the past have developed a strong attachment to promoting their love for their country. In
this decade, national pride has increased dramatically. From billboards to bumper stickers outlining
America s greatness, to national anthems being sung at each and every game. Citizens value their love
and devotion to the extent of it being perceived as wrong. Patriotism, as defined in the

Essay on A Matter of Life or Negligence
American inventor and scientist Thomas Alva Edison once said that opportunitiy is missed by most
people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. Edison s quote, while concise, reveals a
great truth, one that is directly related to an ongoing debate in the United States. The procedures,
morality, and potential success of stem cell research have been discussed in America for more than
one decade, and it remains one of the most debated topics in today s classrooms, newspapers, and
Senate hearings. According to the National Institutes of Health s website, stem cells are cells which

He explains that during the year 2001, then President George W. Bush signed an executive order,
which restrictively allowed some federal funding to go towards stem cell research . The executive
order was restrictive in the sense that it only allowed the use of taxpayers money to go into stem cells
which had preceded the order itself. Before that time, stem cell research had not received any funding
at all. Shimabukuro continues by stating that a few years later (in 2009, to be specific), however,
current President Barack Obama expanded the funding to include many more stem cells than Bush had
allowed. Shimabukuro says that, ... this measure was celebrated by scientists all over the United
States, as it gave them access to more resources to investigate. According to him, not too long ago,
two members of Congress introduced a bill that would complement Obama s executive order by
giving more federal funding and access to resources to scientists. This would force any future pro life
President to have to resort to Congress in order to be able to downgrade to Bush s policies once again.
Many Congressmen are supportive of stem cell research, but some are not. Some of the reasons why
some people do not support stem cell research will be examined in this paper. Most of the controversy
regarding stem cells arises from a specific type of stem cells, namely human embryonic stem cells. As
explained in Fundamentals of the Stem Cell Debate, a compilation of

Madness In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Madness is a condition in which is difficult to identify whether it is true or not. As in the encounter of
the ghost of Hamlet s father and Hamlet, Hamlet is asked to avenge his father s death. To accomplish
this task in a less apparent manner, Hamlet decides to put an antic disposition on. Consequently, his
behavior thereafter is frequently baffling. William Shakespeare, the writer of the tragic play Hamlet
leaves the audience to decide whether Hamlet is truly mad or not. Throughout Shakespeare s Hamlet,
Hamlet s questionable madness is explored through his real madness, feigned actions, and the
reactions of others towards his madness.
In some instances, Hamlet s madness can be seen as real. For example, Hamlet states as he makes a ...

Hamlet uses his feigned madness to his advantage to insult Polonius indirectly by cleverly crafting the
subject of his book towards the explicit description of Polonius. Clearly, Hamlet s wit shows that he
has not lost his reason and is not mad. Another example of Hamlet s feigned madness is Hamlet s
communication with the ghost of his father while Gertrude is present. Gertrude, who cannot see the
ghost, tells Hamlet, No, nothing but ourselves...this the very coinage of your brain./ This bodiless
creation ecstasy/ Is very cunning in... (3.4, 134 139). Gertrude thinks Hamlet is mad, because she sees
him talking to nothing. She thinks he is talking to himself. The audience knows that Hamlet is not in
fact mad, since the audience sees in the play that he is actually talking to the ghost of his father.
Because of Hamlet s madness, there are the reactions of others. After Polonius is informed by his
daughter, Ophelia, of Hamlet s madness, Polonius immediately goes to King Claudius and tells him he
has the reason for Hamlet s madness. Gertrude responds, I doubt it no other but the main,/ His father s

Participation In Democratic Political Participation
The question why nonprofit organizations exist can be answered in various forms, depending on
which disciplines and orientations one has adopted. In political theory, for instance, nonprofit exists
because of its partnership with the government sector in financing a variety of public services. The
political scientists view both existences in relations to providing opportunities for civic participation in
the pluralistic and political system of a heterogeneous society (Wikipedia, 2017). In order to respond
to the above question, we first and foremost defined democratic political participation. The democratic
political participation is a means by which a person contributes to a political process by making his or
her opinion and beliefs known (Wikipedia, 2017). In addition, it originates from the freedom to speak
out, to assemble, and to associate (Boris, 2017). In assessing the role of nonprofit in democratic
political participation, Elizabeth Clemens considers nonprofit organizations as an entity for building
relationships that holds communities together and provides opportunities for civic participation (Otto
Dicke, 2015). Obviously, nonprofit organizations are renowned for thriving and successful
democracies. Essentially, they assist to build the networks of trust and reciprocity, the social capital
that allows democratic societies to function effectively (Putnam 1993; Walzer 1991). Citizens, on the
other hand, participate in democratic governance by joining together to

Reflection, Activities of Daily Living
For the purpose of this essay the Kolb s model of reflection (1984) has been chosen as a guide to
reflect on administration of oxygen therapy. Administration of oxygen therapy is the aspect of nursing
practice that I selected as a result of completing the case based learning scenarios. I will explain how
the administration of oxygen therapy can have an effect on a patient s activities of daily living (ADL),
including some of the psychological and ethical issues. Breathing is the selected ADL that has been
chosen to demonstrate how I implemented the aspect of nursing practice on clinical placement.
Changes have been made to protect the anonymity and maintain confidentiality of the patient and

Before my recent clinical placement I had some awareness on how specific illnesses such as CODP
could affect a patients breathing, hence impairing quality of life, however I did not realise the impact
shortness of breath could have on a patients emotional and physical state. If a patient is struggling
physically to cope it is quite easy for a healthcare professional to observe and as a result provide the
correct level of support, however a patient s psychological condition can not be as easily observed, so
it is up to the healthcare professional to ask and monitor any recognised changes in a patient s
behaviour (DH 2010b). I was aware of the positive effects that oxygen therapy could have on a patient
s health and wellbeing, but lacked the necessary knowledge regarding the negative effects of
administering an inaccurate amount of oxygen to a patient (NMC 2006e). Oxygen is potentially a
dangerous drug if administered inaccurately, for example over
oxygenation of a patient suffering from COPD can result in patient fatality (National Patient Safety
Agency 2009a). My mentor briefly explained how some patient s respiratory drive depends on their
level of hypoxia rather than the normal dependency on hypercapnia and this is why patient s with
COPD should be given oxygen with caution as it can

The Bioethical Dilemmas Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Annie Brown Mr. Lipscomb AP Literature and Comp 12 April 2016 The Bioethical Dilemmas in Mary
Shelley s Frankenstein According to the Upfront magazine by the year 2017, the world may be facing
a real life Frankenstein. Physician Sergio Canavero claims that he can give paralyzed people or those
with cancer a new life by removing their heads and transplanting them onto healthy bodies donated by
brain dead patients (4). There are many problems with Canavero s claim: firstly, people believe
Canavero is trying to play God, secondly, the ethical problem of experimenting animals, and lastly, the
question of how the transplanted person would be treated by society. These ethical issues are the
principles issues of bioethics, which is the study the ethics of medical and biological research. While
bioethics is a recently new field, the principle issues have been around since the age of scientific
revolution. The years following the scientific revolution were filled with many writers whom wished
to warn society about advancing medical procedures. Among those writers, was young Mary
Wallstonecraft Shelley, who was born on 30 August 1797 in the Polygon, Somers Town, London.
Mary Shelly lived through many tragedies; her mother died when she was born, her husband, Percy
Shelley, was suicidal, she lost many of her children, and eventually her husband died when he went
out sailing. While her husband was alive, they traveled to Switzerland to meet the English poet,

Roswell Conspiracy Theories
Noah Barnes Mr. Musick ELA 10 11/2/17 A flying saucer crashed at Roswell in 1947 The event that
kick started more than a half century of conspiracy theories surrounding unidentified flying objects
UFOs. Something did crash at Roswell, New Mexico, sometime before July 7, 1947 and at first the
US authorities stated explicitly that this was a flying saucer or disk. Numerous witnesses reported
seeing metallic debris scattered over a wide area and at least one reported seeing a blazing craft
crossing the sky shortly before it crashed. In recent years, witnesses have added significant new
details, including claims of a large military operation dedicated to recovering alien craft and aliens
themselves, at as many as 11 crash sites, and alleged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within hours of the army telling reporters that it had recovered a crashed saucer, senior officers
insisted that the only thing that had fallen from the sky had been a weather balloon. A report by the
Office of the Secretary of the Air Force released in 1995, concluded that the reported recovered
material in 1947 was likely debris from a secret government program called Project Mogul, which
involved high altitude balloons meant to detect sound waves generated by Soviet atom bomb tests and
ballistic missiles. A second report, released in 1997, concluded that reports of alien bodies were likely
a combination of innocently transformed memories of military accidents involving injured or killed
personnel, and the recovery of anthropomorphic dummies in military programs like Project High Dive
conducted in the 1950s. Since the late 1990s the debate about Roswell has polarized with several
former pro UFO researchers concluding that the craft was, indeed, part of a US military project and
that it was, most likely, some sort of weather balloon. But further evidence has emerged notably a
signed affidavit by Walter Haut, the Roswell Army Air Field public affairs officer who had drafted the
initial press release on July 8, 1947. Haut says the in the affidavit singed in 2002 that he saw an alien
corpse and craft and that he had been involved in a military cover up. He died in

Essay about Ambiguity in Young Goodman Brown
Had Goodman Brown fallen asleep in the forest and only dreamed a wild dream of a witch meeting?
(387) The story Young Goodman Brown is portrayed as a straight forward tale of a man on a venture.
It is not overly difficult to comprehend or interpret, however it does have several great ambiguities. As
Hawthorne s tale has a great deal of symbolism, it is all in retrospect to the ambiguous entities within
the tale. The formalistic approach will be used to analyze the ambiguities in the story, mainly focusing
upon the use of dark and light contrasts. The questions of why did Goodman Brown leave his wife
Faith and venture into the forest and was his journey into the forest a reality or a dream bring a grand
weight of ambiguity upon the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be his way of proving himself worthy in some way due to the fact that he say that neither
his father nor his grandfather had completed his task at hand. The second idea is in the reasoning that
Hawthorne had simply utilized it as the setting and forged the story around the forest and its
characterized darkness and evil notions compared to that of the town which is light and absent of evil
until Goodman Brown returns. This is a definite formalistic observation in the contrast of forest and
the town. The forest is used as a setting which Hawthorne utilizes to expose the faults in all of
mankind, including the self professed religious. No matter which way you believe, Hawthorne has
successfully left the issue as a mystery and an undeclared element of the narrative.
Then comes the second impending question of whether or not the story even happened; whether or not
the tale was a dream, or an actual occurrence in the life of Goodman Brown. Entering the text, there is
no conclusive evidence of a dream state. It states, Young Goodman Brown came forth at sunset, into
the street at Salem village. (375) Simply speaking, Goodman Brown sets forth upon a journey
complete with a clearly stated beginning and an end. However, the middle is left for one to question.
Once in the forest, the story begins to offer characteristics that would not relate to a truthful tale in the
conscious state by Goodman Brown. This mostly due to Goodman Brown encountering

Ethical Use Of Performance Enhancing Drugs In Professional...

Abstract
This paper examines the use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) in professional sports. In all
professional sports like baseball, basketball, football, and organized fighting, PEDs have been used to
enhance athletes, however there is a question of ethics in the use of PEDs. Some examples of PEDs
are anabolic steroids, doping, and stimulants. All of these effect an athlete s performance in a different
way, although their health is also at risk. The life span of athletes is depleting without the use of PEDs,
therefore with PEDs being used it is only worse. Also these professional athletes are role models to
thousands of young athletes. These young athletes are looking ... Show more content on

Drugs like anabolic steroids are some of the most common performance enhancing drugs used by
athletes. Victor Conte, the founder and president of BALCO, a sports nutrition center in California,
has been involved in several performance enhancing drug usage cases because of his company s
involvement in the making of performance enhancing drugs. After the notable suspension of Giants
star Melky Cabrera for having high levels of testosterone, Victor Conte said, As much as 50 percent of
MLB players utilize performance enhancing drugs. (Kendrick, pars. 2) This was an especially startling
claim considering that only one hundred thirteen players have been suspended for PED usage. There
are approximately 1280 players in the MLB, and only 8.82% of MLB players have been suspended for
PED usage. If Victor Conte s claim that 50% of MLB players use PEDs is correct there are 527
players using PEDs that have not yet been caught. Other drugs that are commonly used are stimulants.
According to the Mayo Clinic in an article on PEDs, Stimulants are drugs that can reduce fatigue,
suppress appetite, and increase alertness and aggressiveness. They stimulate the central nervous
system, increasing your heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and metabolism. (par. 6) Some
examples of these are amphetamines, ephedrine, and mesocarb. Amphetamines primarily help players
have a significantly greater level of alertness. This aids hitters who only have approximately 0.4
seconds to hit a pitch (efastball.com, par. 3). Ephedrine reduces fatigue in players, which can assist
players to have better strength, power, and speed. Mesocarb increases workload capacity and
cardiovascular function, and these are just three of the many stimulants baseball players, all of which
having dangerous side effects. The Mayo Clinic has concluded that stimulant use can lead to,

The Revolution in the English Textile Industry
The hidden story is like a seed of single cotton, hidden inside its soft fluffiness. The truth is clinged
into the historical facts, through books, media, or other sources, and you have to work it this way and
that. It s almost as if the various facts want to hold on to it and keep it hidden. And the history of
cotton is too long and complicate, in a certain way, is the story about of cotton and people in America
that found the Industrial Revolution in America. Expressing the outstanding development, Karl Marx
wrote in 1846 that without cotton you have no modern industry. For Marx, the relationship between
cotton and slavery was similarly unambiguous: Without slavery, you have no cotton. (1)
Cotton came to America from England industrial development. Cotton, a shrubby plant, thrives in
warm climates just suitable for South regions and couldn t be grown in the North, because the climate
was too cold. (2) Early in the seventeenth century, agriculture in the American South was dominated
by staples or money crops products (tobacco, then rice, indigo, and sugar) that fetched a high price in
the marketplaces of Europe; finally came cotton, the king of them all. (3) By 1860, cotton dominated
the American economy. The South exported 66 percent of the world s supply, and cotton made up
more than half of the supply with almost 90 percent of cotton grown in the South. Much of Southern
society had become dependent upon a cotton culture and the institution of slavery. (4)

Reflection Of Dracula
The famous novel Dracula written by Irish writer Bram Stoker in the late XIX century still dominates
the minds and imaginations of millions of readers around the world. This book is not the first story to
be written about vampires, but it has become a classic of the genre, its standard and was the cause of
the world obsession with vampire theme. Ugly and terrible desire frightens the modern reader. Wide
public interest in horror literature says that the ugly aesthetics became a kind of symbol of the new
era. But at the same time, Bram Stoker touches a topic such as religion or faith in God. Dracula tells
us what can become the soul of a man if it will absorb the vice and sin. (Wolf, 2004) From the point of

The Oceania Government In George Orwell s 1984
Throughout George Orwell s 1984, there are many peculiar, compelling events that take place,
depicting Orwell s presumptions of what society would be like during the year of 1984. Up until page
285 in the novel, there are many powerful movements, shifting the plot of the novel to another level.
These powerful movements help create a dramatic climax in the novel, allowing the reader to develop
a full sense of knowledge. The main character, Winston Smith, still has a rebellious attitude towards
the Oceania government, having a relationship with Julia, and keeping a secret journal. Towards the
end of Book Two , the Oceania government breaks into their room and begin beating Julia and
Winston. Before long, Winston realized that Mr. Charrington is a member of the thought police. Both
Winston and Julia are petrified by this atrocious event because it has momentarily changed their lives
for the worst. This important event serves to prove that the Oceania government is aware of every

As discussed in the novel, there are three social classes in which certain people are placed, based on
their wealth and power in society. Similar to present day society, people are placed in specific
categories solely based on their income and political power. Although this method isn t very fair, it is,
in fact, the harsh reality of society, as no one person is always treated fairly. Another connection to be
made is the torture that is done to Winston and Julia, as there are constant tortures in present day
society. Although people aren t actually beaten in jail in present day society, they are tortured in
different ways, especially verbally. These specific events made by Orwell help create a vivid sense of
imagery, allowing readers to understand the text

Education Is The Key To A Better, Developed And Civilized...
Education has been told to us as the key to a better, developed and civilized society. With proper
education, there can be no limits to an individual s achievements in life; but on the other hand, lack of
access to education is a major building block to a primitive, backward and uncivilized society. A bad
education system designed not for learning but only to keep children who can not afford private
education in schools is a recipe for oppression as it widens the gap between socioeconomic status,
gender and age. It trains people to be a part of a capitalistic and oppressive society by reinforcing
classism, racism and sexism (Lipsitz, Lozenski, Ford, 2014).
A better society is defined by its quality of education and health standards. It has been notice that
where there the education system is oppressive or oppressed, the health sector follows suit. One
cannot go through an oppressive education system and expect the opposite when it comes to health
care provisions. Therefore the system of education has a direct impact on the health care system of a
society, the rich who benefit from the system of education also benefit from health care system. It
comes into play when I look at the system of education that makes the rich white majority acquire
better education services at the expense of their black counterparts or people with color in the society
(Giroux, 2017).
A system that chooses controlled base on color and social standing in the society has contributed to

Another example of a muddled purpose lies within The Maine Lobsterman. Maine is known for its
fishermen, so H. Elroy Johnson, a resident of Maine who trapped lobsters for a living, was chosen to
be memorialized. As his statue was moved from place to place its purpose was lost because he truly
represented his home state of Maine only. When developing a monument, its purpose is at the root of
its success and should be timeless and/or clear to those who will view it in the general public.
Secondly, placement is a key factor in creating a monument of someone or an event. As described in

When the quantities of environmental protection are low for an extensive for an extensive pollution,
then there exists a variety of cheap and easy ways to reduce pollution hence an increase in marginal
benefits. However, if the event that an environmental protection rises, then cheap and readily available
ways of reducing pollution start to decrease hence requiring more costly methods to be employed. As
the extent of environmental regulation rises, additional expenditures related to environmental
protection will most likely lead to increased marginal costs and decreased marginal benefits. This
pattern would suggest that the cost savings and flexibility nature of market oriented environmental
policies would be very important (Harrington Morgenstern, 2013).

Stereotypes In Fairy Tales
Obviously the first stop on their tour around Diagon Alley was Flourish and Blotts Bookstore. As soon
as they got there the group split up and headed towards sections of books they thought looked
interesting. Annabeth headed for the Ancient Runes and Arithmancy section, trying not squeal as she
browsed through the area. She also decided to pick up several books on wards. Thalia instantly drifted
toward the area dedicated to Astronomy and surprisingly, she also took a liking to books on the history
of magic, especially ones with battle and strategy tips. Meanwhile Piper and Leanne drifted through
the sections on Magical flora and fauna and together the two oh d and ah d over the pictures of

Why Are Child Sports Good For Kids
The Topic child sports is an arguable a god topic. I think child sports are great. Theses are the reasons
why there good. Children get social, physical, and perseverance skills. It also trains them to work hard
and never give up. They can stay away from peer pressure. Finally they can stay fit and learn to eat
good foods. In the article Teens involved in physical activity . The author conducted a study where he
examined students that weren t involved in physical activity and kids that were. He found out that
80% of students he studied that were involved in physical activity had 4 points or higher gpa than kids
who weren t involved in physical activity. This means the kids who play sports seem to do better

The author found out that kids are getting obese by 7% more a year. He found out that 85% of kids
that play sports seem to be physically active up to the age 30 on average. They are 75% more likely to
be healthy and active up to the age 35 on average. This is really good because people are saying our
youth might not live as long as their parents because of the obesity rate. Parents that don t allow their
kids to play sports say Oh, I don t want him getting hurt . I have an solution to that problem. You can
let your kid play non contact sports or minimal contact. Such as basketball,
volleyball,golf,tennis,e.t.c.. I agree that football is kind of bad for teens because of the high injury rate.
But on the other side there is so many sports that have a really low injury rate and or minimal concat.
95% of kids that play sports don t fall for peer pressure. The reason behind it is that the student will
have either practice, a game, or homework he or she will have to do and then they can t go out with
people that peer pressure kids into drugs, alcohol, and crimes. If you think your kid won t get their
homework done because of sports. Look back at the second paragraph. It states that kids that play
sports on average has 4 points or higher g.p.a than kids who don t play sports. That s because they are

Gender Stereotypes
The assumption that girls wear pink and boys wear blue has been constructed over many centuries,
from the pink and blue design scheme of children s nursery s, to the on going recognition as feminie
and masculine markers, to the current universal use of pink as a sign of a female and blue a sign of
male (Paoletti, 2012). In todays society pink and blue are used to categorise an individuals gender and
as a sign of recognition as masculine and feminine. The prevalence of the assumption that girls wear
pink and boys wear blue was not until the mid 20th Century in the Western world.
Prior to the mid 20th century young infants and toddlers wore white dresses, as parents had no
concern or interest in defining and distinguishing between the sexes, ... Show more content on

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Police Militarization Introduction: Police brutality and police militarization are becoming hot topics of discussion in the United States today. The dangers of police militarization are becoming more prevalent and cases of the use of brutal force by police are becoming more common. Recently, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Trump Administration s repeal an Obama era rule limiting the distribution of certain military equipment such as tracked vehicles, camouflage uniforms, high powered rifles, bayonets, and grenade launchers. With events like that of the killing of Michael Brown by a Ferguson, Missouri, by a police officer, a massive show of force by cops decked out in military gear were deployed after dangerous riots were conducted in the city. This then leads to the question at hand. Should police be militarized? What is Militarization: To better analyze the situation, we must first understand what militarization is. Militarization is the use of military equipment and tactics by police officers. This includes the use of armored vehicles ,weapons like assault rifles, submachine guns, grenades, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, and SWAT teams. Pros of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the overwhelming disadvantage, LAPD officers checked local gun shops for military grade weapons to return fire and defend themselves. During the standoff, eleven officers were injured, one of the gunmen committed suicide and the second gunman was eventually killed. Because of this incident, there was an understandable reason that officers be better armed to face such situations in the future. Since then, gang violence in inner cities like Chicago and terrorist incidents, especially after the 9/11 attacks, have prompted many law enforcement agencies to ensure police officers are able to cope with heavily armed adversaries, whether those adversaries are domestic or ... • 3. Betsy Ross Speech Even though Betsy Ross is best known for creating and sewing the American flag, this has never been officially proven. However, there is a great amount of evidence that she was very influential in the making of the flag. These words by her say it all, Our hearts aching, our prayers praying, our flags waving, never forget. 1 Elizabeth Griscom, also known as Betsy Ross was born on January 1, 1752 in Philadelphia to her loving parents Rebecca and Samuel Griscom. She was the eighth child out of seventeen.2 The same year she was born was the year the Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia. Her father had the honor to assist in building the tower that surrounded the bell where it was placed. Her parents were part of the Quaker religion, also known as the Society of Friends, which left Betsy living differently than the colonist. With the determined Quaker religion, she was not allowed to attend plays or read storybooks because it promoted a world of fantasy rather than the story of the Bible. The Quakers also forbid music within their culture because it provided no movement to the people and developed corrupt thoughts within an individual.3 During this time period many families were fairly large, but a majority of the children often died from diseases at a very young age. In Betsy s family only nine of the children survived to be adults. Every Sunday and Thursday the Quakers would attend a church service that lasted two hours long. • 4. Alkyl Bromide Lab Report Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2 reaction. Introduction A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this reaction proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction where a nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which expels the leaving group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from the back, which leads to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that the nucleophilic attack and the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors which are essential for a SN2 reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon, sometimes the reaction works with secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is due to steric hindrance expressed by secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be able to attack on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reactants were 1 butanol, H2SO4 and HBr. The limiting reagent in this reaction was 1 butanol. The moles of 1 butanol that was used in this reaction were 5.00g/(74.1 g/mol)= 0.0674 moles. The percent theoretical yield should be 100% and since 1 mol of 1 butanol should result also result in 1 mol of 1 bromobutane. The theoretical yield of the product should be 0.0674 moles. The experimental mass of the product 1 bromobutane was 3.390 g and the molar mass of 1 bromobutane is 137.0 g/mol. So, the moles of the product are 3.390g/(137.0g/mol)= 0.0247 moles. Hence, the yield of this reaction is 0.0247/0.0674x 100= 36.65%. The yield was very low due to errors such as inconsistent heat applied during refluxing and simple distillation, error while transferring the product from the distillate to a flask and the product could have dissolved all leading to low ... • 5. Thomas Cole The Oxbow WESTWARD EXPANSIONISM After viewing the five different works of art offered to write this essay, the piece that spoke to me personally and emotionally was The Oxbow, painted by the artist Thomas Cole in 1836. I truly love the outdoors aspect of pure and unadulterated nature isolated from societies approach to technology, over population, and lack of true freedom. I go camping and hiking with my daughter whenever possible, so I truly appreciate the recognition of natures beauty and vitality. The artist used canvas with oil and the medium and its dimensions are 51 Âœ x 76 in. Upon further inspection I realized that the painting shows juxtaposing with the tamed and cultured land on the right and the untainted and untouched nature, with brooding darkened clouds on the left. The contrast of light and dark colors also indicate this and whispers to my subconscious. The Oxbow will subliminally remind anyone that the subject is the controversial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a line on the bottom half of the work that goes up diagonally towards the left. Obviously this is how the artist brings contrast into play to depict his message of civilization on the right and untouched nature on the left. Secondly, there are two trees on the far left, possessing hard lines that draw ones eye towards the top left corner towards the darkened clouds. In my opinion, Thomas clearly brings startling detail and political conclusions about the time of expansion and the negative commentary that surrounded it. Moreover, there is a short hill with light lines highlighting the still scarred land. The art of persuasion is skillfully utilized to illustrate how taming the land can bring positive and beneficial changes, although surrounded with negative undertones of raping the land. While lines have been skillfully utilized, there are other elements to consider such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Amazing Grace Play Analysis On July 22nd, 2015, I was given the opportunity to witness a remarkable Broadway Play, called Amazing Grace. I attended this play along with my fellow peers from the Rutgers College of Nursing EOF program. This was the first time for most of my peers along with myself to attend a Broadway show. Amazing Grace depicts the issue of slavery during the 1780s and the early 1800s. The main character John Newton faced many challenges throughout the play and in the end he overcomes those hindrances by realizing slavery degraded human beings. One of the features that made the play exciting was the sound effect. Throughout the play, there were many sound effects of gunshots, the ocean, and storms. These sounds captured my attention and made me feel as if I was involved in the show. Typically, I am a person who gets uninterested easily at things I do not enjoy. ... It was amazing how the people from the production of the play were able to master every setting with such a small environment. There was this one scene toward the intermission where John Newton was travelling in a ship and there was a storm, which destroyed the ship, and John Newton was drowning. However, John Newton s friend, an African American slave, saved him and swam up to the shore. During this scene there was a screen, which came down in front of the stage, and the effects made it look similar to a view from under the ocean. Behind the screen one could see Thomas grabbing onto John Newton and swimming up toward the surface of the water. This was truly amusing for the reason that it convinced me to think it was actually water. Thus, the setting played a major role in capturing the attention of the audience, which made everything look as if it was all happening in the 1780 s to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Health Information Technology Impact on the Quality of Care The health care industry is driven forward by the advancements in technology. Advancements in technology has improved the way health care treatments are delivered to patients. Patient outcomes are affected in the way that the care is being delivered. Technology has found ways to not only improve the way it is being delivered but has also made it more efficient in how it is being done so. Therefore, healthcare quality has improved with the advancements in technology. Health Information then and now Health information technology has improved dramatically since early doctor visits conducted by Greek medical practitioners. During that time frame there was no internet to rely on transfer of information, no telephone lines to communicate with other health care personnel to bounce ideas off of and there was no social media platforms, such as YouTube, in which medical information can be reviewed. The ability to access information has dramatically changed from then to now. Back then, medical professionals had to rely more on skills and use what they can to arrive to a positive outcome. Information technology today has been able to make positive strides in the way paper based supports have been slowly phasing out in favor of a computer based system. The major difference between sustainability and sustainable design is the ability of a designer to design a product to be classified as a sustainable design and which also complies with the rules that guide the environmental, economic and social impact of the product. If we are to deal effectively with the many contemporary issues of environmental degradation and social inequality of the resources and benefits of society, we are going to have to rethink our notions of our materialism culture, especially in the economically developed countries. The power to change the way we design, manufacture our products, recycle and market it falls on the designers. Potentially, designers can make a significant contribution to this undertake by developing possible solutions that challenge precedents and demonstrate alternative possibilities. But to achieve this according to Stuart walker we will need to change design education and design practice and develop new understandings of product aesthetics and our notions of what can be called a good design. Stuart Walker went on to say, depending on whether we like it or not, within the discipline of industrial or product design industry, there is a major emphasis on product appearance, in both professional practice and design education, and it is this engrossment that, in many ways, renders Products aesthetics hollow and superficial. • 11. `` Daddy `` By Sylvia Plath Over six million innocent lives were taken during the Holocaust. It had a significant effect on much of the world s population, and it still has an impact to this day. In Sylvia Plath s poem, Daddy , she shows her emotions for her father, Otto Plath. Sylvia Plath lost her father at eight years old when she still had much love for him (Famous People Biography ). After a number of years, hatred is built up inside of Sylvia towards her father. When her father first died, she loved him and she grieved over her father s death. After years of confusion, she eventually decided and wrote, Daddy, Daddy, you bastard, I m through (Line 80). In Daddy by Sylvia Plath, the author resents her father and husband so much that they are comparable to Nazi Germans, showing her feelings for them through poetic devices. The speaker says that her German father is like a Nazi and that she feels like a Jew. This metaphor is the most powerful one in the entire poem. It shows us as readers how she feels like she is a victim of her father. She never directly calls him a Jew though. She points to the fact using metaphors and imagery. For example, the author wrote: I thought every German was you. And the language obscene An engine, an engine Chuffing me off like a Jew. A Jew to Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen. I began to talk like a Jew. I think I may well be a Jew. ( Daddy Lines 29 35) She compares the German language to a train, taking her to a concentration camp. Her father speaks German so this ... • 12. One Trip To The Trashcan Times are tough, and more people are cooking at home than dining out. However, some of them are starting to get frustrated with how much time it takes to prepare a good meal. Here are three great tips to make cooking faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Cooking Tip #1: Make One Trip to the Trashcan Running back and forth to the trashcan is aggravating (as well as inefficient). You can make only one trip by lining a colander, sink strainer, small trash can, or other wide mouthed receptacle with a plastic shopping bag and keeping it next to your cutting board. If your cutting board happens to be right next to the sink, place the lined receptacle in the basin. Otherwise place the receptacle at your feet (but be careful not to trip over it). Toss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Limiting the use of our utilities is not only beneficial to our budget but also to the environment as well. Here are several useful and lesser known tips in conserving energy while you are in the kitchen. While being in the kitchen, the stove is one of the main items that will use up the most energy, so it is important to be wise with your energy consumption when cooking on it. Adjust the burners when using a gas based cooking top so that the flames just barely touch or are a tad lower than the bottom of the pans you are cooking on. Flames that curl around a pan waste more energy. However, if you are using an electric cook top, put the pan on a coil that is similar in size. Place the pan so that its bottom lies absolutely flat on the burner. This will conserve a great deal of energy. Also, when using an electric stove, set the burners on high first and then proceed to lower it to finish the cooking. For dishes that aren t pans, turn off the burner completely at the end as the element will hold the heat for several minutes. In addition to your stoves, the oven vent on an electrical range can be very useful. If you are using an oven vent on an electrical range, you will find that the vent is under one of the burners. While the oven is in use, you will be able to feel the hot air flowing through the vent. For dishes that you would like to warm, set them on that burner. This will minimize the use of a microwave and will also optimize the use of your burners. Now, for dishes that need to cook for long periods of time, particularly over an hour, there is no need to preheat your oven (unless you are cooking a turkey that needs a crisp skin). For dishes that must be cooked just under an hour, extend the cooking time for a little bit. The only preheating that is required is for dishes that have a short baking time. • 13. Osteoporosis Is The Most Common Bone Disease Osteoporosis Background: Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease and is characterized by low bone mass, deterioration of bone tissue and disruption of bone architecture, compromised bone strength, and an increase in the risk of bone fracture. The World health organization (WHO) defines osteoporosis as having a bone mineral density (BMD) at the hip or the lumbar spine of less than or equal to 2.5 standard deviations below the mean BMD of a young adult reference population. Based on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III (NHANES III), NOF has estimated that more than 9.9 million Americans have osteoporosis and an additional 43.1 million have low bone density.2 About one out of every two Caucasian women will experience an osteoporosis related fracture at some point in her lifetime, as will approximately one in five men. The bone remodeling process consists of continually removing older bone and replacing it with new bone and plays and important role in maintaining a healthy skeleton. A decrease in bone density occurs when this balance is altered, resulting in greater bone removal than replacement. This imbalance is seen greatly with advancing age and menopause. With the onset of menopause, the rate of remodeling increases and it increases the risk of fractures. Prolia (denosumab) is a RANK ligand that is approved by the FDA in 2010. • 20. Participation In Democratic Political Participation The question why nonprofit organizations exist can be answered in various forms, depending on which disciplines and orientations one has adopted. In political theory, for instance, nonprofit exists because of its partnership with the government sector in financing a variety of public services. The political scientists view both existences in relations to providing opportunities for civic participation in the pluralistic and political system of a heterogeneous society (Wikipedia, 2017). In order to respond to the above question, we first and foremost defined democratic political participation. The democratic political participation is a means by which a person contributes to a political process by making his or her opinion and beliefs known (Wikipedia, 2017). In addition, it originates from the freedom to speak out, to assemble, and to associate (Boris, 2017). In assessing the role of nonprofit in democratic political participation, Elizabeth Clemens considers nonprofit organizations as an entity for building relationships that holds communities together and provides opportunities for civic participation (Otto Dicke, 2015). This is a definite formalistic observation in the contrast of forest and the town. The truth is clinged into the historical facts, through books, media, or other sources, and you have to work it this way and that. It s almost as if the various facts want to hold on to it and keep it hidden. And the history of cotton is too long and complicate, in a certain way, is the story about of cotton and people in America that found the Industrial Revolution in America. Expressing the outstanding development, Karl Marx wrote in 1846 that without cotton you have no modern industry. For Marx, the relationship between cotton and slavery was similarly unambiguous: Without slavery, you have no cotton. (1) Cotton came to America from England industrial development. Cotton, a shrubby plant, thrives in warm climates just suitable for South regions and couldn t be grown in the North, because the climate was too cold. (2) Early in the seventeenth century, agriculture in the American South was dominated by staples or money crops products (tobacco, then rice, indigo, and sugar) that fetched a high price in the marketplaces of Europe; finally came cotton, the king of them all. (3) By 1860, cotton dominated the American economy. The South exported 66 percent of the world s supply, and cotton made up more than half of the supply with almost 90 percent of cotton grown in the South. Much of Southern society had become dependent upon a cotton culture and the institution of slavery. (4) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This book is not the first story to be written about vampires, but it has become a classic of the genre, its standard and was the cause of the world obsession with vampire theme. Ugly and terrible desire frightens the modern reader. Wide public interest in horror literature says that the ugly aesthetics became a kind of symbol of the new era. But at the same time, Bram Stoker touches a topic such as religion or faith in God. Dracula tells us what can become the soul of a man if it will absorb the vice and sin. As discussed in the novel, there are three social classes in which certain people are placed, based on their wealth and power in society. Similar to present day society, people are placed in specific categories solely based on their income and political power. Another connection to be made is the torture that is done to Winston and Julia, as there are constant tortures in present day society. Although people aren t actually beaten in jail in present day society, they are tortured in different ways, especially verbally. • 30. Education Is The Key To A Better, Developed And Civilized... Education has been told to us as the key to a better, developed and civilized society. With proper education, there can be no limits to an individual s achievements in life; but on the other hand, lack of access to education is a major building block to a primitive, backward and uncivilized society. A bad education system designed not for learning but only to keep children who can not afford private education in schools is a recipe for oppression as it widens the gap between socioeconomic status, gender and age. It trains people to be a part of a capitalistic and oppressive society by reinforcing classism, racism and sexism (Lipsitz, Lozenski, Ford, 2014). A better society is defined by its quality of education and health standards. It has been notice that where there the education system is oppressive or oppressed, the health sector follows suit. One cannot go through an oppressive education system and expect the opposite when it comes to health care provisions. Therefore the system of education has a direct impact on the health care system of a society, the rich who benefit from the system of education also benefit from health care system. It comes into play when I look at the system of education that makes the rich white majority acquire better education services at the expense of their black counterparts or people with color in the society (Giroux, 2017).
