Compare And Contrast Antigone And Civil Disobedience
While both Antigone and Martin Luther King Jr. fought for their religious and human rights, I believe
that Martin Luther King Jr. s ability to use both religion and nationalism gave him the ability to
achieve his goal of civil disobedience in ways that Antigone could not. Martin Luther King Jr. used his
religious background to give his claim greater influence in the deep south, calling upon every one of
the Christian faith to rally behind a Reverend in trouble. His call to nationalism gave him the ability to
have the nation standing with him against the leaders of Birmingham, evoking a sense of pride and
unity in the nation against this injustice. Antigone used her civil disobedience to fight for her religious
right to bury her brother Polyneices body. While Antigone remained nonviolent throughout her
protest, her lack of negotiation with Kreon shows that her civil disobedience was misguided. Antigone
failed to rationalize with Kreon, instead choosing to blatantly disobey without exhausting all of her
options. Martin Luther King Jr. s use of religion, nationalism, and negotiation are why I believe that
his civil disobedience was more effective than Antigone s.
While Antigone followed her belief of burying Polyneices for religious reasons, she went against the
law of Kreon. Antigone new that the punishment for burying Polyneices was a stoning by the city s
people (Sophocles 36), but she chose to bury her brother anyway, claiming, He has no business
keeping me from what is mine (Sophocles 49). Antigone s lack of negotiation is why her civil
disobedience is a failure. Her choice to bury Polyneice s body without any attempt of finding common
ground with Kreon is foolish. Although Antigone met with Kreon after being discovered burying
Polyneices body, she never actually attempts to negotiate with Kreon, instead choosing to accept her
punishment as something already set in stone. When Kreon first meets Antigone, he asks if Antigone
admits to the deed (Sophocles 442). Antigone s only response was, I don t deny it; I admit the deed
was mine (Sophocles 443). This shows that Antigone made her choice of civil disobedience and
accepted her fate before exhausting all options. Rather than pleading with Kreon and

Compare And Contrast Lincoln And Jefferson Davis
In 1861, ideological divisions between the north and the south exploded with the inauguration of
Abraham Lincoln dividing the county into the Union and Confederation. Jefferson Davis became the
President of the Confederation, while Abraham Lincoln continued to represent the United States. Both
men led during the bloodiest war of American history with fatalities claiming approximately 2.385%
of the total population (Wikipedia). Both presidents influenced the path of the Civil War with
intelligence developed by extensive educations, Jefferson Davis obtained his education through formal
academic methods, while Abraham Lincoln educated himself through books and on the job training.

The Influence Of Treading In Emily Dickinson s Poems
Emily Dickinson was an American poet who was born on December tenth, 1830. Emily Dickinson
lived a very secluded life and preferred to stay in her home in New England and she even lived in
isolation starting in the 1860s only seeing close family members ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org).
Dickinson began to write while spending her days in her home reading. Her style of writing and
themes were influenced by seventeenth century English poetry ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org). Her
puritan and religious upbringing also led to her different style of writing ( Emily Dickinson ,
poets.org). Her poems were never published when she was alive, instead they were found after her
passing and published. When they found her poems after she passed they discovered she had written
around 1,800 poems ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org)! Most of her poems are about death and some
experts even believe that her poems are written in a specific order and have ... Show more content on

The speaker believes that a part of her is dying when she realizes that she is going into madness. The
mourners are visualized as treading hard with heavy steps. The treading is counteracting the em dashes
in the stanza and that theme continues throughout the poem. Their treading represents the pressures of
life stomping on the speaker s mind. The treading is not just light walking it is hard and forceful. With
the pressure of the treading and the mourners , the speaker begins to spiral into the realization of them
self going mad their thoughts become jumbled up in madness. The second stanza of the poem
transitions to the mourners becoming silent and sitting uniformed in their spots. But as the stanza

their life beating down on their mind. It shows that pressures of life truly weigh down on us as humans

Metropolitan Museum Analysis
Since ancient times, humanity has used art to express feelings, emotions, ideas, and much more. Also,
it was used as a medium to communicate between each other. As a result, it is not surprising that we
feel delighted while observing works of art. Now, there are many opportunities to go to museums, and
enjoy the precious art pieces shown there. One of the museums that has a wide variety of art, is the
Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Metropolitan Museum is extraordinary because it displaying artwork from all over the world, and
reveales 5000 years of history through its exhibitions. The museum also shows pieces of art from our
ancestors and our contemporary artists. The mission statement of this museum for the past 140 years is

bronze, so it has a smooth but firm texture, and gives spectators the feeling of being in the presence of
a god. Even though the sculpture looks opaque, when it was made, using a casting techniques, it
shined and glowed to represent heroic person.
This research was done through The Metropolitan Museum of Art s website, a very user friendly site
to browse and learn about art. Since everything is well organized, and it has links that can help people
find what they are looking for, it is an excellent source to do research papers. The only thing I will
recommend to the museum is to make videos about the sculpture or rotatable pictures in order to
observe them from all angles. Even though the experience of being in front of a piece of art is
incomparable, the website provides a very realistic experience, and history lesson for anyone

Terrorism In Texas
News response
Recently in Austin, Texas there have been a series of bombings. Three bombings have occurred in
total, one on March 2nd and two on March 12th. Authorities believe the bombings are connected
because the method of delivery was identical. Specifically, the bombs were all placed in unmarked
packages on the victims front door steps. Two African American males were killed and a Hispanic
women was seriously injured. CNN covered a story regarding the bombings titled These Austin
residents fear that the explosions may be racially motivated. The article discussed why residents feel
the attacks are racially motivated. Obviously, the primary reason is that none of the victims were
Caucasian. Chas Moore, the executive director of the Austin Justice Coalition, summarized the
feelings of many residents stating We do feel targeted. Until it happens to somebody that is not a
person of color I think that is going to remain the same. In addition to the demographics of the
victims, Moore cited the unacknowledged racial tension in the city as evidence of the probability the
attacks were racially motivated. Namely, because it is one of the few liberal locations in Texas,

Specifically, the article claims the reason why the victims were targeted was because they were not

from individuals who believe that the inequality of races in the United States caused a disparity in
police responding. For instance, one member of the Austin community questioned the integrity of the

Bang! The shot of a gun. A body thumps to the ground as the killer makes an escape out the fire
escape on the fifth floor. A few days later, an elderly woman calls the police about an odd smell
coming from the apartment above her. Within the hour, there s a whole police team in the fifth floor
apartment, including forensic investigators, ballistics experts, crime scene photographers, and
homicide detectives. The detectives observe the body and then go to search for a bullet. They notice

One huge technological breakthrough that has directly impacted the field of homicide investigation is
DNA fingerprinting. DNA fingerprinting can be very helpful, especially in rape and murder cases. It
was first used in 1984 to solve a double rape and murder case of two girls, three years apart. The first
victim was Lynda Mann, a fifteen year old girl from Narborough, England. She was walking from one
friend s house to another, when she noticed someone standing by a lamppost close to the entrance gate
of the Carlton Hayes psychiatric hospital. (McCrery, x) Lynda s father called the police when she
wasn t home by 1:30am, but because she had not been missing for long the police were not very
worried. The next morning, a hospital orderly on his way to work stumbled across what he thought to
be a partially clothed mannequin, but was actually the rigid, pale body of Lynda Mann. While at the
time there was not the technology to completely solve the case, the technology that was to prove
decisive in solving it [the case] was developed only a few miles from Narborough, at the University of
Leicester, roughly a year after Lynda s tragic death. (McCrery, xi) On September 10, 1984, a
biochemist by the name of Dr. Alec Jeffreys was examining an X ray film image of a DNA
experiment. While examining it, he noticed that the DNA of different members of his technician s

Isabella Whitney and the Female Legacy by Wendy Wall
In her article Isabella Whitney and the Female Legacy (1991), Wendy Wall examines the effect that
early female writers had on breaking gender barriers in 16th century England. Wall specifically
focuses on the impact of Isabella Whitney s writings during a period during which women still
struggled to achieve independence and power in a dominating patriarchal system. In this article, Wall
credits Whitney for overcoming the many obstacles women faced in their attempts to become
published writers, and truly creating a legacy for women throughout history with her efforts. Wall first
discusses the obstacles that female writers of the 16th century faced when seeking publication. One
major obstacle was the gender stereotypes of this period. Women were expected remain in the home,
while caring for her children and husband. It was considered unacceptable for a woman of this period
to have a career or economic prospects of her own, since men were in complete control. In addition to
the gender barriers, female and male writers alike each faced publication obstacles due to social class
conflicts. Writing was seen as a lower class activity, Wall writes, so it was considered beneath one s
social class to participate in it. As a result, the female writer could become a fallen woman in a double
sense: branded as a harlot or a member of the un elite (Wall 36). Such a negative stigma surely
constricted female writers even further, so they sought other ways to publish their work.

Misdemeanor Code
During the course of almost everyone s life, the majority of us have been locked out of something,
whether it was a vehicle, a telephone, or even your house. With these situations, there can be a couple
solutions, for example, if you were locked out of your car you can call a locksmith or find a metal coat
hanger and wiggle it down your window sill and hope you can unlock it. If you were locked out of
your telephone you could wait a certain amount to be able to re enter your password again. Or in some
instances, you can plug your phone into your computer for a chance to gain extra tries at re entering it
or reset it completely. If you were locked out of your house you could call individual you know with a

I would strongly advise against using these methods to break into any property that is not your own. In
addition, the Credit Card method can fracture and eventually break whatever kind of card you choose
to use. Beginning with the Bump Key Method used on a deadbolt style lock you will first need to
insert your modified key. While the key is inserted you will need to turn the key slightly clockwise
and at that instant hit it with the blunt object. This action of hitting the lock makes the pins in the lock
tumbler jump if you turn the key at the exact right moment will consequently allow the key to be able
to turn and the deadbolt will be unlocked. This may need a couple of times for it to work due to it
taking some practice to learn. In the unfortunate event that this method cannot unlock your deadbolt
style lock, you may have a deadbolt style lock which has a protective mechanism against this type of
forced entry. With the Credit Card method, you will begin by holding the doorknob. Once you have a
positive hold on the knob you will insert the corner of your credit card or any other piece of card
shaped strong plastic. At that moment you should begin wiggling it from the top of the lock until you
bring the card between the lock and the door and you will know when you have it due to there will be
a click sound. Soon after the click sound, you should be able to push on the door and it should open

Whole Foods Market ( Wfm ) Essay
Whole Foods Market (WFM) is a leading natural and organic food supermarket founded in Austin,
Texas by four local business people: John Mackey and Renee Lawson Hardy, owners of Safer Way
Natural Foods, and Craig Weller and Mark Skiles, owners of Clarksville Natural Grocery. WFM
opened its first store in 1980, they staffed their first store with only 19 workers, the store was an
immediate success partly because at the time there were less than half a dozen organic stores in the
entire country. The original WFM store opened on September in 1980 after Safer Way and Clarksville
Natural Foods partnered, the 10,500 square feet location was quite larger than the standard health food
store of the 80 s. The business had its first hiccup a year after they opened their doors, their entire
inventory was lost and most of the equipment was damaged by a historic flood that devastated the city
of Austin. The owners did not have insurance but they were able to quickly get back on their feet due
to the volunteered help of neighbors and customers as well as the help of creditors, vendors, and
investors who provided breathing room for them. The store reopened just after 28 days of the flood.
The expansion of the business happened quickly in the late 80 s. New locations appeared in Houston
and Dallas, then New Orleans. In 1989, WFM expanded to the West Coast and opened a store in Palo
Alto, CA. WFM started acquiring several different natural foods chains such as Wellspring Grocery of

Surrogacy Controversy
With the increase in the abilities and forms of reproductive technologies over the past 30 years, the
ethics of using them still needs to be further understood. An example of a new form of reproductive
technology is surrogacy. The act of a woman conceiving and carrying an embryo or fetus for an
individual or a couple is defined as surrogacy (White, 2016). The ethics of this method of
reproduction with the nuances of potential payment options and the effects on the parties involved, has
to evolve with the updates in technology and knowledge. The controversy surrounding surrogacy is in
relation to the legality and ethics of paying a surrogate mother to carry and birth a child for an
individual or couple.
Commercial surrogacy should be legislated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin, the use of commercial transnational surrogacy increases the complications of the legislation
in Canada. As the world becomes more interconnected, the ability for Canadian citizens to find
commercial surrogates in other countries is an expanding option. Unfortunately, due to rapidly
changing legislation around surrogacy in many countries, parents and their child born from
international surrogates may have difficulty leaving the child s country of birth together (Lozanski,
2015). This uncertainty of the safety for the children of Canadians, combined with the potential for
extreme exploitation of international woman due to a lack of regulations, results in an unsafe
environment (Lozanski, 2015). In addition, due to the decreased costs of surrogacy in Canada, as a
result of commercialized surrogacy being illegal and Canada s public health insurance, the costs for
people internationally to use surrogates in Canada is reduced. This may cause shortages of surrogates
in Canada and cause Canadian taxpayers to pay for international people to come to Canada to have
their children. As Canada s public health insurance covers the cost of the surrogate s medical
expenses, taxpayers are paying for international citizens to have their children in Canada. By
introducing, some form of commercialized surrogacy in Canada this could reduce the strain on the

Analysis Of The Book 1984 By George Orwell
George Orwell s novel 1984 written nearly seventy years ago tells the tale of Winston Smith through a
dystopian culture controlled by a government that is always watching. The novel was meant to deter
people away from rising totalitarian societies at the time like Germany and the Soviet Union. Winston
s first diary entry depicts the events of his seemingly normal day. He begins with, Last night to the
flicks. All war films. One very good one of a ship full of refugees being bombed somewhere in the
Mediterranean. He goes on to write about an overweight refugee in the film attempting to swim away,
only to be shot multiple times by the gunmen. As the man went underwater, Winston says the audience
shout[ed] with laughter when he sank. Orwell continues to write this gruesome entry, making the
audiences so unbelievably horrifying with their continuous laughter at suffering.
This conglomeration of heartless people would only be found in a book, right? Orwell wrote this for
people suffering in countries with political dominance. The citizens gave in to what the government
put in front of them, and in that molded their value system to make even the wonderful shot of a child
s arm going up up up right up into the air cause the audience to jump for joy. Orwell s entire novel is
terrifying to say in the least, but what bothers me the most about the mentioned diary entry is realizing
that this is not far off from where we are as a society watching movies.

Large areas in Romagna had fallen outside the jurisdiction of the papacy or claimed by Venice after
Alexander VI s death. In 1508, the circumstances forced Julius II to create the League of Cambrai or
more melodramatically known as the Holy League, an anti Venetian alliance between the papacy,
Louis XII, who then ruled Milan, Emperor Maximilian I, and Ferdinand II of Spain, who was king of
Naples. The league troops defeated Venice in May 1509 near Cremona, and the Papal States were
restored.
Although the League was initially successful, by 1510, King Louis XII was regarding Pope Julius II as
a greater threat than Venice. For that reason, France changed sides in the war and allied itself with
Venice. Not long after, Venice submitted to Julius II and allied itself with the papacy against France.
Following a year of fighting over the Romagna, during which the Veneto Papal alliance was
repeatedly defeated, the Pope proclaimed a Holy League against the French in October of 1511. This
league rapidly grew to include England, Spain, and the Holy Roman Empire.
In 1512, Julius II successfully drove French across the Alps, but it was at the cost of the occupation of
Northern Italy by other powers, and Julius II, though he had secured the papal authority in the states
immediately around Rome, was essentially as far as ever from realizing his dream of an

Hockley In Titanic
The Titanic Depth of the Heart of the Ocean
Ahh, open your heart to me, Rose, pleads Caledon Hockley of the young Rose
in James Cameron s film, Titanic, just after he gives her a most expensive
diamond. The actor Billy Zane plays Hockley as a callous, jaded, been there done
that sophisticate who seems to want her heart simply because he believes it is for sale
and he has a right to it. His blindness to higher motives in love totally disqualifies him
from being worthy of Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet. But perhaps it is
also the opaque nature of love itself that defeats him. This scene between Hockley and

The crew is stumped. But then
Rose hears a newscast about it, sees her picture on TV and calls the ship, asking, I
was just wondering if you had found the heart of the ocean yet, Mr. Lovett?
The literal gem, then, serves to drive the plot. People explore wrecks for the
challenge and for scientific purposes, but Cameron has Brock Lovett, played by Bill
Paxton, and his salvage crew searching for a diamond. This motivation works on two
levels. It gives a reason for the dangerous and expensive dive that the people sitting in
the dark theater can appreciate. Many people in this materialistic world can relate to
and understand betting one s life and fortune on a diamond that rivals the Hope
diamond in value. On an artistic level, though, the search for material wealth parallels
the confidence that the Titanic s owners place in material goods and technology. And
of course, just as money and wealth by themselves fail to make life worthwhile for most
people, all of the confidence her owners and passengers mistakenly place in the
integrity of this man made ship cannot keep them warm in ice water.
In addition to driving the plot, the diamond functions on a figurative, symbolic
level. The gem represents the human heart, the repository and driving force behind
people s emotions. Toward the end of

observed, but the freshmen class had significantly worse behavior than all the rest. The cognitive
abilities of the students I witnesses also varied by class, but not nearly as much as the behavior levels
did. To no surprise, the senior level class was by far the best behaved and the most intelligent;
however, the extent of their good behavior still astounded me. Throughout my observations I got to
see firsthand many of the ideas we discussed in class play out. I saw signs of increased likeliness to
engage in risky behavior, with the freshman class being the most likely to engage; however, one of the
8th grade classes also showed signs of their increased likeliness to engage in risky behavior. I also got
to see some of the seniors show themselves socially transitioning from middle adolescence into more
adult and late adolescent roles. The first class that I observed was an 8th grade math class. The

Future Air Transportation System Essay
2.2 FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS (FANS) : 2.2.1 Introduction to FANS Future Air
Navigation Systems (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) in partnership with Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell and others in the air transport
industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of airspace. Today
FANS is used primarily in the oceanic regions taking advantage of both satellite communication and
satellite navigation to effectively create a virtual RADAR environment for safe passage of aircraft.
FANS play a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM (Communication Navigation
Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management) strategies. Today, FANS 1 is the standard used on Boeing
aircraft and Airbus standard for FANS is known as FANS A. Both standards are considered first
generation FANS architecture. Figure 2(d): FANS architecture The following is a closer look at the
FANS requirements from an LRU (Line Replacement Unit) perspective. The Flight Management
System (FMS) will receive a comprehensive software load that should include the following
components (if not already a part of the previous software loads): RNP RNAV Required Navigation
Performance standards are necessary to maintain the navigation performance in the particular oceanic
region that supports FANS. The upgrade involves adding RNP software and display of RNP status on

Sara Teasdale Research Paper
While most may know her as the first woman to win the first Nobel Prize for Poetry ( Sara Teasdale ,
Short Stories and Classic Literature), many do not realize the impact of her background on her style of
work and the many themes she decided to write about. Born in St. Louis on August 8, 1994, Sara
Trevor Teasdale was born into a traditional and devout family ( Sara Teasdale , Poets.org). Her
childhood was spent at home, due to her always being ill, but she started school at the age of nine,
eventually publishing poems in her local newspaper and her first collection, becoming more involved
as she went to Chicago and immersing herself in the crowd surrounding Poetry magazine ( Sara

Animal Lab Report
The purpose of this lab is to examine the internal organ systems of vertebrate that has similar internal
organ systems of a human. Additionally to be able to identify where organs of the digestion,
circulatory, and respiratory systems are located in a rat and their function according to the rat s
anatomy.
One is able to use rats as a specimen to study human anatomy, as the organs found in a rat such as the
heart, lungs, and the stomach, are also found in the human body. Furthermore, it has been proved that
humans has approximately 99% of the same DNA as rodents especially mice (Speaking of research,
2016). Due to the similarly in DNA, rodents of any species become an excellent model to see how a
human body works internally.

For an example, Norway rats prefer to eat foods high in protein such as pet food and meat scraps,
while Roof rats prefer fruits (Rat s diet, n.d.). Other similarity between the species in their diet is their
desire to eat sugar and foods high in amounts of sugar. A difference between humans and rats is the
number of chromosomes they have. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, while rats have 21 pairs
of chromosome as evolution occurs faster in rats than they do in humans (Spencer, 2012).
Additionally, rats can become the host for the tapeworm Taenia taeniaformis while humans cannot.
The Taenia taeniaformis causes the crystal formation in the rat s liver resulting in it becoming
enlarged. Another disease only rats can get is chronic progressive nephrosis. Chronic progressive
nephrosis involves the inflammation of blood vessels in the rat s kidney. The disease is more
commonly found in older male rats. A rat may get the disease through gender, genetics, and by
salutary factors such as protein content and total calorie intake in their diet (Quesenberry et al., 2011)
A similarity between the two species is the common diseases/disorders they can get such as
hypertension, cataracts, obesity and deafness (Melina, 2010). Finally, a vital difference between
humans and rats are body positions they natural use. A rat is a quadruped meaning they move on all
four legs, while humans are bipedalism, meaning they move on 2 legs instead of

How Does The Concentration Of Substrate Affect The...
Question # 1: How does the concentration of substrate affect the reaction rate?
Hypothesis: If the concentration of a substrate increases, any time an enzyme happens upon a
substrate it will be free to help that substrate react, but then when an enzyme encounters a new
substrate at a slightly higher concentration it will already be working on another substrate, therefore,
as we increase substrate concentration it is not going to increase as fast as the reaction rate. Argument:
Substrates are reacting molecules that are acted upon in order to make what is called the product (Bio
5LA Lab # 5, pp.1). However, this reaction would not be possible without enzymes, which are as
equally if not more important than substrates because they are ... Show more content on

This leads me to the argument that there is a relationship between concentration and absorbance that
will enable me to determine the concentration of a solution through the measurement of the color
change in a reaction tube (Bio 5LA Lab # 5, pp.3). It is evident, that the relationship between
concentration, reaction rate, color change, and absorbance plays an important role in demonstrating
that the reaction rate, goes hand in hand with concentration. Ultimately, their relationship will directly
affect the reaction rate of an enzyme catalyzed reaction (Maslov, Dmitri).
Experimental strategy: The experimental approach that will be taken, in order to test my hypothesis
involves the use of the spectrophotometer. This machine will enable me to examine the effect of
different substrate concentrations on the rate of reaction (Bio 5LA Lab # 5, pp.3). In brief, I will have
to take varying concentrations of a substrate, add an enzyme to each of tubes filled with different
concentrations, and rapidly place the tube into the spectrophotometer, in order to measure the time it
takes the varying substances to change color. As a result, when the color change is visible in any of the
varying substrate concentrations, it will be safe to say that, the enzyme has reacted with the substrate,
to form an enzyme substrate complex. Similarly, the time it took for a color change to happen, will
allow me to observe and record the rate at which each reaction

Workplace Advocacy
Introduction In a profession where others health and well being are priority, there leaves room for
neglect of those who are delegated to care for these people. As a professional nurse, there are many
obstacles that arise and affect the care provided to a patient, as well as the livelihood of the nurse. The
current deteriorating and unsafe staffing conditions in hospitals and other institutions prompts
workplace advocacy as the universally appropriate concept for maintaining professional nursing
practice. The Arkansas Nurses Association and the Louisiana State Nurses Association define
workplace advocacy as a planned, organized system of services and resources designed to support the
professional nurse in the workplace (White Paper on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hess, discusses shared governance involvement with the nursing shortage that healthcare facilities are
now facing. Hess focused on the purpose of shared governance, which is to give registered nurses
control over their practice. This will help ensure nurse involvement in the workplace. In expressing his
struggle, Hess clearly defines shared governance with the order of structures and processes involved
within each organization (Hess, 2004). However, he does agree with its purpose that nursing shared
governance helps with every situation a nurse may encounter in the healthcare setting. The following
article further evaluates workplace advocacy in a way that relates to shared governance. In an article
entitled, Common Denominators: Shared Governance and Workplace Advocacy Strategies for Nurses
to Gain Control over Their Practice, Green, and Jordan explore the concepts of shared governance and
workplace advocacy. According to Green (2004), organizations implementing shared governance
concentrate on having a partnership between the organization and the employees. Shared governance
concentrates on the micro level, which is the internal aspect of workplace policies (Green, 2004). In
contrast to shared governance, workplace advocacy focuses on both micro and macro levels, which
are external. These external policies consist of local, state, or federal policies (Green, 2004). Some

Binge Eating in Non-Western Cultures
Literature regarding eating disorders in non Western cultures in general is scarce. Very few studies
address disordered eating in cultures outside of the Western and Westernized world. This could be
because of the perceived lack of eating disorders in non industrialized countries or even because there
is an overwhelming amount of concern over eating disorders in Western society. However, there have
been several studies done on binge eating and dietary restraint in non western citizens and in non
Caucasian women in the United States. Women who are not from a Caucasian background face
different societal and traditional pressures than do Caucasian women in Western cultures, but some of
the women in those cultures were found to have binge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major way in which they express this negative self perception is to restrain their diets or binge eat
(Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5). Many cultures idealize robust women and practice feasting as a
common social practice. However, women feel pressured by the stick thin images they see on Western
influenced television advertisements to lose weight or look more conventionally attractive by Western
standards. They feel torn between participating in their traditional custom and looking like the women
they see idealized in the media. They feel guilt and embarrassment about overeating but participate in
it as part of the cultural norm. (Becker, 2003, 430)
Women who feel shame about eating are also less likely to seek help for their eating disorders, and
this shame has been found to be more prevalent in women from non Western ethnicities living in the
Western world. Women from different ethnicities experience guilt and a fear of losing control while
eating at different levels. Asian and Native American women are the most likely to feel embarrassed
about overeating or losing control while eating (Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5). They are therefore
the least likely to seek help for their binge eating disorders. Healthcare providers should take ethnicity
into account when determining causal factors of binge eating in women from Asian and Native
American cultures because they are more

Reading in school and at home began to seem more like a menial task that had to be seen through to
completion due to the wishes of my superiors. Due to the boyish nature of my personality, I wanted to
go outside and play games, not sit inside and read quietly. Then, while I was playing soccer during
recess at school, I dove for the ball and heard a cracking sound. I had broken my arm. Immediately,
my parents were summoned to school and I went to the hospital to get a cast. Devastation struck me as
the doctor proclaimed that I was not going to play sports until the cast came off. During the first few
days wearing the cast, I tended to sit around and wallow in self pity. Then, I realized that, if I was not
allowed to enjoy myself, I might as well do something productive. So, I picked up the book nearest
me, which happened to be Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. I was dreading the hours of
boredom I was about to face. However, as I began to read, I realized that reading was more enjoyable
than simply running around. When I read, I was transformed into a new character every time. Each
book allowed me to experience a new lifestyle. No other form of entertainment was quite as thrilling.
Over the summer, my cast came off, but, due to the wonderful novels I read while my cast was still on,
I maintained a lifelong love of reading new

President Obama Rewards The Ayatollah Analysis
President Obama rewards the Ayatollah by delisting his financial empire
Because of the sunset clauses in the JCPOA, the ultimate success of the nuclear deal depends on
transformation of the Iranian regime over the next decade from a hardliner revolutionary regime to a
moderate one. Surprisingly, the JCPOA removes the supreme leader s financial empire from the
sanction list on the implementation day. The Ayatollah has used this exclusively controlled financial
industrial conglomerate to pursue his hardline policy of supporting terrorist groups in the region,
oppressing dissidents in Iran and demanding annihilation of Israel. Removing these entities guarantees
prosperity of Supreme Leader s financial empire in the Post sanction Iran. Therefore,

Persuasive Essay On Lack Of Education
America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We
have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and Kaya
Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope, their learning
potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly slip away. Savage
inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that we have the opportunity
to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading articles, magazines and even
going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same opportunities or privileges. It is very
disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not
provide access to the American Dream because of the lack of education and opportunities, kids are
constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that all students have the opportunity to go to
school, but some kids have to deal with major disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds,
and smells of ghetto schools. James Baldwin once quoted not everything that is faced can be changed
but nothing can be changed until it is faced .Those living in la la land that thinks that everyone has the
same opportunities needs to wake up. This is not playtime, there are boys and girls who are struggling
for basic needs. Right here in America their are kids in: East St. Louis, Camden New Jersey,
Washington D.C., Bronx New York, San Antonio Texas, Cincinnati Ohio, southside Chicago, Detroit
Michigan, and Alabama who are not given the equal chances to rise in the world. These kids are faced
with but not limited to poverty, lack of education, crime, dilapidated housing, insufficient healthcare,
hunger and unemployment. East St. Louis the most distressed city in America , the bottom 98% of the
population is black. ¾ live below poverty level and make less than $7,500 a year. According to Savage
Inequalities, a mother says, it s a terrible way to live (13). The city was so poor it had to lay off 1,170

Physician Assisted Death Should Be Legal
A lot of controversy revolves around the topic of Physician Assisted Death (PAD) in America today.
Should it be legalized throughout the whole United States? Should it be left in the hands of the states
individually to decide? Or should the idea of Physician Assisted Death be completely abolished?
Everyone has their own opinions and can be very passionate about this topic without fully knowing
what Physician Assisted Death is. The name may cause people to feel uncomfortable and disagree
with it, but there are valid reasons and statistics behind the topic explaining why it would be logical to
legalize PAD. Terminally ill patients, in consultation with their families, should have control over end
of life medical decisions which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person who chooses to die in what they believe is a more humane and peaceful way does not mean
that they want to die, they simply have no choice. One article says, On the other hand, a terminally ill
person is actively dying and therefore no longer is choosing death over life but rather one form of
death over another. ( Aid 3 ) By giving patients the choice of Physician Assisted Death, we are
allowing them to have some control over the way their life ends and give them a sense of relief and
happiness. A terminally ill patient is almost always aware of the fact that their illness can be a burden
on not only themselves, but their caregivers as well. The purpose PAD serves is to relieve the patient
of the excruciating pain felt daily, as Federich states, The motive is to relieve physical suffering,
anxiety or serious sense of burdensomeness to self and others. Death is inescapable, hence the phrase
terminally ill, so why force someone to suffer and continue to go through unwanted treatment to just
prolong their life when they can choose to die peacefully? In the wise words of David Bender, When
death is the only way to relieve suffering, and is inevitable regardless, why not allow it to come in the
most humane and dignified way possible? (21)

Gifts of the Holy Spirit
The gifts of the Holy Spirit contain a big role in the spiritual life of the believer. There are said to be
seven gifts to around eighteen gifts of the Spirit to be brought upon those who believe in God. Each
denomination has a certain gift that they focus on more then others. As Pentecostals believe that
speaking in tongues is the ultimate gifts and thats what shows that a person has been filled with the
Spirit, Mennonites dont focus on speaking in tongues at all. Each Gift of the Spirit has a certain use

There are said to be eighteen different gifts of the Holy Spirit. The definition of spiritual gifts by the
respected Greek lexicographer Thayer is as good as any. Extraordinary powers, distinguishing certain
Christians and anabling them to serve the church of Christ, the reception of which is due to the power
of diving grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit (Gangel, Kenneth O. Unwrap Your Spiritual

serving others or just practical service to the community. Next is the gift or speaking prophecy. The
people with this gift can basically fortell the future by visions or thoughts brought to them by the
Lord. Teaching is another gift, which entails just having the gift of being able to teach people. Number
four, encouraging people, having exhortation, or they are comforters and can stimulate the faith of

Different Types Of Motor For A Robotic Surgery System Essay
A client of Reverse engineering has given us three types of motors (DC motor, servo motor, and a
stepper motor) and tasked us with determining the best application for these motors. They have also
requested a recommendation of a DC motor for their newest robotic surgery system. The purpose of
this experiment is to investigate these three different types of motors, to determine the most useful
application for these different types of motors, and to give a recommendation of a DC motor for a
robotic surgery system. The following sections of this memo will detail different aspects of the
experiment. Section 2 will clearly present the results of the experiment and detail any observations.
Section 3 will discuss the significance of these results and section 4 will summarize and conclude the
memorandum. 2. Results and Description During the DC motor experiment, the weight trough was
observed to sway side to side when ascending. On occasion, the weights would swing into the table
and require the test to be run again. The stepper motor was observed to not always point exactly at one
of the designated angles (angles measuring 0, 45, 90, 135 etc.). Results were gathered three different
types of motors; a DC motor, servo motor, and a stepper motor. Table 1 displays the results for the DC
motor experiment The number of weights column represents the number of 1.6755 ounce force

Technical Perfection
Why a certified personal trainer nutrition specialist are a must!!
It is always advantageous to hire a certified personal trainer in the quest of staying fit. One can be
subjected to a variety of benefits if catered to by a personal trainer. They include:
Pinpoint Accuracy
Technical Perfection can be achieved during workout if the services of a certified personal trainer is
acquired by an individual. Often we think that we are providing our best inputs during our workout
sessions but the expected results are not met. This can be because of the prevalence of technical
glitches which we cannot voluntarily figure out. For instance, how much or how little the knee should
be bent and what weights to exactly bear at what time is not something that we can accurately estimate
with our restricted knowledge. A certified personal trainer will guide an individual in such a situation
by ensuring technical perfection, and as a result, satisfactory results can be achieved in double quick
time.

Nuclear Weapons And Nuclear Proliferation
Committee 9
Nuclear Proliferation
Vanuatu
(A) Brief Background of the Topic
1.) What is the historical background of this topic?
Nuclear Proliferation is defined as the rapid spread or increase of nuclear weapons. Nuclear
Proliferation has been a conflict worldwide for years. It all started during the Cold War, when the
Soviet Union and the United States competed to obtain more nuclear weapons. As the Cold War
continued, France, Britain, and China all began to develop their own nuclear technology. On July 1,
1968, the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was signed and entered into force in
1970. Under this treaty, a total of 190 parties have agreed to help prevent the spread of nuclear
weapons. A few years later, the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks non proliferation act (SALT 1) was
signed on May 26, 1972 and entered into force on October 3, 1972. After several years of struggle, the
Cold War ended in December 1991.
2.) What nations are directly involved in this issue?
The top contributors of nuclear proliferation include countries like the United States and Russia
(formerly Soviet Union). These two countries were the first to obtain and test nuclear weapons. They
are responsible for more than 93% of all operational nuclear warheads. United Kingdom, France,
China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea all created nuclear arsenals to attain these weapons of
mass destruction. The United States currently possesses approximately 7,650 warheads, Russia has

this remarkable story. Dolphin tale is a sweet, feel good film about a dolphin named Winter and his

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Antigone And Civil Disobedience While both Antigone and Martin Luther King Jr. fought for their religious and human rights, I believe that Martin Luther King Jr. s ability to use both religion and nationalism gave him the ability to achieve his goal of civil disobedience in ways that Antigone could not. Martin Luther King Jr. used his religious background to give his claim greater influence in the deep south, calling upon every one of the Christian faith to rally behind a Reverend in trouble. His call to nationalism gave him the ability to have the nation standing with him against the leaders of Birmingham, evoking a sense of pride and unity in the nation against this injustice. Antigone used her civil disobedience to fight for her religious right to bury her brother Polyneices body. While Antigone remained nonviolent throughout her protest, her lack of negotiation with Kreon shows that her civil disobedience was misguided. Antigone failed to rationalize with Kreon, instead choosing to blatantly disobey without exhausting all of her options. Martin Luther King Jr. s use of religion, nationalism, and negotiation are why I believe that his civil disobedience was more effective than Antigone s. While Antigone followed her belief of burying Polyneices for religious reasons, she went against the law of Kreon. Antigone new that the punishment for burying Polyneices was a stoning by the city s people (Sophocles 36), but she chose to bury her brother anyway, claiming, He has no business keeping me from what is mine (Sophocles 49). Antigone s lack of negotiation is why her civil disobedience is a failure. Her choice to bury Polyneice s body without any attempt of finding common ground with Kreon is foolish. Although Antigone met with Kreon after being discovered burying Polyneices body, she never actually attempts to negotiate with Kreon, instead choosing to accept her punishment as something already set in stone. When Kreon first meets Antigone, he asks if Antigone admits to the deed (Sophocles 442). Antigone s only response was, I don t deny it; I admit the deed was mine (Sophocles 443). This shows that Antigone made her choice of civil disobedience and accepted her fate before exhausting all options. Rather than pleading with Kreon and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Influence Of Treading In Emily Dickinson s Poems Emily Dickinson was an American poet who was born on December tenth, 1830. Emily Dickinson lived a very secluded life and preferred to stay in her home in New England and she even lived in isolation starting in the 1860s only seeing close family members ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org). Dickinson began to write while spending her days in her home reading. Her style of writing and themes were influenced by seventeenth century English poetry ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org). Her puritan and religious upbringing also led to her different style of writing ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org). Her poems were never published when she was alive, instead they were found after her passing and published. Until it happens to somebody that is not a person of color I think that is going to remain the same. DNA fingerprinting can be very helpful, especially in rape and murder cases. It was first used in 1984 to solve a double rape and murder case of two girls, three years apart. The first victim was Lynda Mann, a fifteen year old girl from Narborough, England. She was walking from one friend s house to another, when she noticed someone standing by a lamppost close to the entrance gate of the Carlton Hayes psychiatric hospital. The next morning, a hospital orderly on his way to work stumbled across what he thought to be a partially clothed mannequin, but was actually the rigid, pale body of Lynda Mann. While at the time there was not the technology to completely solve the case, the technology that was to prove decisive in solving it [the case] was developed only a few miles from Narborough, at the University of Leicester, roughly a year after Lynda s tragic death. • 8. Isabella Whitney and the Female Legacy by Wendy Wall In her article Isabella Whitney and the Female Legacy (1991), Wendy Wall examines the effect that early female writers had on breaking gender barriers in 16th century England. Wall specifically focuses on the impact of Isabella Whitney s writings during a period during which women still struggled to achieve independence and power in a dominating patriarchal system. In this article, Wall credits Whitney for overcoming the many obstacles women faced in their attempts to become published writers, and truly creating a legacy for women throughout history with her efforts. Wall first discusses the obstacles that female writers of the 16th century faced when seeking publication. One major obstacle was the gender stereotypes of this period. Women were expected remain in the home, while caring for her children and husband. It was considered unacceptable for a woman of this period to have a career or economic prospects of her own, since men were in complete control. In addition to the gender barriers, female and male writers alike each faced publication obstacles due to social class conflicts. Writing was seen as a lower class activity, Wall writes, so it was considered beneath one s social class to participate in it. As a result, the female writer could become a fallen woman in a double sense: branded as a harlot or a member of the un elite (Wall 36). Such a negative stigma surely constricted female writers even further, so they sought other ways to publish their work. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whole Foods Market ( Wfm ) Essay Whole Foods Market (WFM) is a leading natural and organic food supermarket founded in Austin, Texas by four local business people: John Mackey and Renee Lawson Hardy, owners of Safer Way Natural Foods, and Craig Weller and Mark Skiles, owners of Clarksville Natural Grocery. WFM opened its first store in 1980, they staffed their first store with only 19 workers, the store was an immediate success partly because at the time there were less than half a dozen organic stores in the entire country. The original WFM store opened on September in 1980 after Safer Way and Clarksville Natural Foods partnered, the 10,500 square feet location was quite larger than the standard health food store of the 80 s. The business had its first hiccup a year after they opened their doors, their entire inventory was lost and most of the equipment was damaged by a historic flood that devastated the city of Austin. The owners did not have insurance but they were able to quickly get back on their feet due to the volunteered help of neighbors and customers as well as the help of creditors, vendors, and investors who provided breathing room for them. The store reopened just after 28 days of the flood. The expansion of the business happened quickly in the late 80 s. New locations appeared in Houston and Dallas, then New Orleans. In 1989, WFM expanded to the West Coast and opened a store in Palo Alto, CA. WFM started acquiring several different natural foods chains such as Wellspring Grocery of ... • 13. Surrogacy Controversy With the increase in the abilities and forms of reproductive technologies over the past 30 years, the ethics of using them still needs to be further understood. An example of a new form of reproductive technology is surrogacy. The act of a woman conceiving and carrying an embryo or fetus for an individual or a couple is defined as surrogacy (White, 2016). The ethics of this method of reproduction with the nuances of potential payment options and the effects on the parties involved, has to evolve with the updates in technology and knowledge. The controversy surrounding surrogacy is in relation to the legality and ethics of paying a surrogate mother to carry and birth a child for an individual or couple. Commercial surrogacy should be legislated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin, the use of commercial transnational surrogacy increases the complications of the legislation in Canada. As the world becomes more interconnected, the ability for Canadian citizens to find commercial surrogates in other countries is an expanding option. Unfortunately, due to rapidly changing legislation around surrogacy in many countries, parents and their child born from international surrogates may have difficulty leaving the child s country of birth together (Lozanski, 2015). This uncertainty of the safety for the children of Canadians, combined with the potential for extreme exploitation of international woman due to a lack of regulations, results in an unsafe environment (Lozanski, 2015). In addition, due to the decreased costs of surrogacy in Canada, as a result of commercialized surrogacy being illegal and Canada s public health insurance, the costs for people internationally to use surrogates in Canada is reduced. This may cause shortages of surrogates in Canada and cause Canadian taxpayers to pay for international people to come to Canada to have their children. • 14. Analysis Of The Book 1984 By George Orwell George Orwell s novel 1984 written nearly seventy years ago tells the tale of Winston Smith through a dystopian culture controlled by a government that is always watching. The novel was meant to deter people away from rising totalitarian societies at the time like Germany and the Soviet Union. Winston s first diary entry depicts the events of his seemingly normal day. He begins with, Last night to the flicks. All war films. One very good one of a ship full of refugees being bombed somewhere in the Mediterranean. He goes on to write about an overweight refugee in the film attempting to swim away, only to be shot multiple times by the gunmen. As the man went underwater, Winston says the audience shout[ed] with laughter when he sank. Orwell continues to write this gruesome entry, making the audiences so unbelievably horrifying with their continuous laughter at suffering. This conglomeration of heartless people would only be found in a book, right? Orwell wrote this for people suffering in countries with political dominance. The citizens gave in to what the government put in front of them, and in that molded their value system to make even the wonderful shot of a child s arm going up up up right up into the air cause the audience to jump for joy. Orwell s entire novel is terrifying to say in the least, but what bothers me the most about the mentioned diary entry is realizing that this is not far off from where we are as a society watching movies. Although the League was initially successful, by 1510, King Louis XII was regarding Pope Julius II as a greater threat than Venice. For that reason, France changed sides in the war and allied itself with Venice. Not long after, Venice submitted to Julius II and allied itself with the papacy against France. Following a year of fighting over the Romagna, during which the Veneto Papal alliance was repeatedly defeated, the Pope proclaimed a Holy League against the French in October of 1511. This league rapidly grew to include England, Spain, and the Holy Roman Empire. In 1512, Julius II successfully drove French across the Alps, but it was at the cost of the occupation of Northern Italy by other powers, and Julius II, though he had secured the papal authority in the states immediately around Rome, was essentially as far as ever from realizing his dream of an ... His blindness to higher motives in love totally disqualifies him from being worthy of Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet. People explore wrecks for the challenge and for scientific purposes, but Cameron has Brock Lovett, played by Bill Paxton, and his salvage crew searching for a diamond. During my time I also observed many successful teaching methods and only one unsuccessful one. Along with my observations of the student s behavior and their intelligence levels, I also saw many of the consistencies associated with what has been presented in our class. The behavior of the students is what I saw the most difference in. The behavior of the students varied between all of the classes I observed, but the freshmen class had significantly worse behavior than all the rest. The cognitive abilities of the students I witnesses also varied by class, but not nearly as much as the behavior levels did. To no surprise, the senior level class was by far the best behaved and the most intelligent; however, the extent of their good behavior still astounded me. Throughout my observations I got to see firsthand many of the ideas we discussed in class play out. I saw signs of increased likeliness to engage in risky behavior, with the freshman class being the most likely to engage; however, one of the 8th grade classes also showed signs of their increased likeliness to engage in risky behavior. I also got to see some of the seniors show themselves socially transitioning from middle adolescence into more adult and late adolescent roles. Future Air Transportation System Essay 2.2 FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS (FANS) : 2.2.1 Introduction to FANS Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in partnership with Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell and others in the air transport industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of airspace. Today FANS is used primarily in the oceanic regions taking advantage of both satellite communication and satellite navigation to effectively create a virtual RADAR environment for safe passage of aircraft. FANS play a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM (Communication Navigation Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management) strategies. Today, FANS 1 is the standard used on Boeing aircraft and Airbus standard for FANS is known as FANS A. Both standards are considered first generation FANS architecture. • 26. How Does The Concentration Of Substrate Affect The... Question # 1: How does the concentration of substrate affect the reaction rate? Hypothesis: If the concentration of a substrate increases, any time an enzyme happens upon a substrate it will be free to help that substrate react, but then when an enzyme encounters a new substrate at a slightly higher concentration it will already be working on another substrate, therefore, as we increase substrate concentration it is not going to increase as fast as the reaction rate. Argument: Substrates are reacting molecules that are acted upon in order to make what is called the product (Bio 5LA Lab # 5, pp.1). However, this reaction would not be possible without enzymes, which are as equally if not more important than substrates because they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leads me to the argument that there is a relationship between concentration and absorbance that will enable me to determine the concentration of a solution through the measurement of the color change in a reaction tube (Bio 5LA Lab # 5, pp.3). It is evident, that the relationship between concentration, reaction rate, color change, and absorbance plays an important role in demonstrating that the reaction rate, goes hand in hand with concentration. Ultimately, their relationship will directly affect the reaction rate of an enzyme catalyzed reaction (Maslov, Dmitri). Experimental strategy: The experimental approach that will be taken, in order to test my hypothesis involves the use of the spectrophotometer. This machine will enable me to examine the effect of different substrate concentrations on the rate of reaction (Bio 5LA Lab # 5, pp.3). In brief, I will have to take varying concentrations of a substrate, add an enzyme to each of tubes filled with different concentrations, and rapidly place the tube into the spectrophotometer, in order to measure the time it takes the varying substances to change color. As a result, when the color change is visible in any of the varying substrate concentrations, it will be safe to say that, the enzyme has reacted with the substrate, to form an enzyme substrate complex. Similarly, the time it took for a color change to happen, will allow me to observe and record the rate at which each reaction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nuclear Proliferation is defined as the rapid spread or increase of nuclear weapons. Nuclear Proliferation has been a conflict worldwide for years. It all started during the Cold War, when the Soviet Union and the United States competed to obtain more nuclear weapons. As the Cold War continued, France, Britain, and China all began to develop their own nuclear technology. On July 1, 1968, the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was signed and entered into force in 1970. Under this treaty, a total of 190 parties have agreed to help prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. A few years later, the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks non proliferation act (SALT 1) was signed on May 26, 1972 and entered into force on October 3, 1972. After several years of struggle, the Cold War ended in December 1991. 2.) What nations are directly involved in this issue? The top contributors of nuclear proliferation include countries like the United States and Russia (formerly Soviet Union). These two countries were the first to obtain and test nuclear weapons. They are responsible for more than 93% of all operational nuclear warheads.
