The Aztec Empire Essay
Who were the Aztecs? Why were they considered to be an empire even greater than the Romans?
And how was Hernan Cortes able to defeat them? These are some of the questions that people ask
about these indigenous people. These people are known as the Aztecs but originally called
themselves Mexica. They came to Mexicoin the early thirteenth century and from there they started
to develop a social structure and government consisting of priests, kings, peasants, and soldiers.
Besides having a very organized society the Aztecs had a very large and intimidating army
consisting of full time soldiers and peasants. By 1427 A.D. the Aztecempire became the dominant
group and controlled most of central Mexico. Considering how advanced and large the... Show

They had cannons to bring down the Aztec homes and temples, they had swords that easily cut
through Aztec spears, but what I think gave the Spaniards such a great advantage was the armor
they wore and the horses they rode on. The reason being that wearing armor would make killing the
Spaniards that much harder and being mounted on a horse only made them more intimidating in the
eyes of the Aztecs as well as giving them the fighting advantage.
The second reason that the Aztecs fell to the Spaniards is just as important as the first and it s
the Indian tribes that assisted the Spaniards in finding and defeating the Aztecs. Although there
were a few Indian tribes that became allies and assisted the Spaniards it was the Cempoala
Indian tribe that helped them set up a base on a shore of a village that Cortes named Vera Cruz
when he claimed it in the name of Spain. It was at this base that supplies could come in with less
danger to the Spaniards and also it was the same shore where Cortes burned his ships in order to
keep his men from retreating to Cuba. Besides the Cempoala tribe the Tlaxcalans after being
defeated by the Spaniards gave food, water, translators, and gifts to Cortes and his men as well as
one thousand Indians when the battle against the Aztecs began. The reason for the Tlaxcalans and
the rest of the Indian tribes giving so much support and assistance to the Spaniards had to

My Day At High School
The idea came upon me late on a Sunday night in early February. An idea that me and my
buddies from high school need one last get together before the end of the semester. Yes, the end
of the semester is not for another 2 months, but many of my friends go to a variety of different
colleges which means many different weeks of spring break. I realized that this would be our last
chance together so let s go home this weekend and get together. We ran with the idea. We all found
ways back home and our plan was to get together that Friday night. I looked forward to that
Friday night all week, but when that Friday night came it was all ruined by a guy that would do
anything to never be unfair to someone on purpose. On February 7th around 8 o clock or so me
and my roommates were eating dinner discussing spring break. We talked about when our spring
break was and how it was going to be way different since many of our buddies go to different
colleges and have separate spring break dates. As we talked dates I realized that our spring break
was a week before all my other buddies spring breaks were. This is the reason upon deciding to
have a get together later that week. I immediately sent out a text to one of my good buddies
Jackson. Jackson has a garage that is fully renovated therefore it is our primary hang out spot.
We talked about if it was a good idea and if we could stay in the garage that Friday night. All went
well that entire week. Me and my five other buddies all found

Washington Irving and Romanticism Essays
The short stories of Washington Irving are examples of the literary movement of Romanticism and
its characteristics which are evidenced in this author s works. These characteristics are sometimes
found in abundant quantities or limited amounts in each of his short stories. However, no matter
what short story Washington Irvingwrote, the Age of Romanticismand its defining characteristics are
found in each of his selections. So, too, do each of the author s short stories present a unique study
about the author s intentions for creating his work. In Washington Irving s selection The Three
Kings of Bermuda , the author portrays tone in a way that he changes it often throughout his writing
to help the reader understand the emotion and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romanticism as a conviction that intuition, imagination, and emotion are inferior to reason is often
thought as the best known characteristic. It was used to show the human abilities and the source for
the subjects. This helps us to understand the world around us and also how we take part in it.
Emotions were thought to be one of the main factors in place of logic and reason. People looked to
making music often to express feelings that were being felt. Washington s tone helps to convey the
emotion in this story. Washington changes the tone throughout the story to help the reader better
understand the emotion of this short story. He is a true enchanter, Irving states, whose spell operates
not only upon the sense, but upon the imagination and the heart. When they are stranded he uses
tone showing that they were happy and felt a sort of power that they were the kings of this island.
Then he changes it to anger and a fight for the ambergris when they discovered it. When the
ambergris is taken away from them by the new landowners, he shows the emotion of
disappointment. The quote, All kingdoms, however, are doomed to revolution, conclusion, or
decay; and so it fared with the empire of the three kings of Bermuda. is a powerful quote showing
the emotion in Irving s tone. Romanticism as a conviction that poetry is superior to science is a
common characteristic because of the growing popularity of poetry at the time. Many times the

Emperor Shi Huang Di How Did He Die
The Ancient Chinese Immortal Emperor Dead!?
Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di has recently died on the 10th of September 210BC, but how? There
must be a reason for why an emperor only at age 40 died!
So Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di isn t Immortal or is he?
A big question that everybody is lingering about is is our emperor immortal or not? well I guess
we all know that he isn t immortal, meaning that he isn t still alive, but is he immortal in the
afterlife, or will he come back to life again? No one would really know until something happens
and he rules over us again.
Before He Died
Before the emperor died he forced his army to make him terracotta warriors so that he could
have an army in the afterlife. They had to even make all of the horses and carriages because they
were apart of the army it looks like all of the statues would have taken a long time to make.
How Did He Die?

opinions are below. But no one actually knows how Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di died.

Most Common Problems In A Utopian Society
In a utopian society, everyone is treated equal, but in our world utopias never last long. There are
many problems in a utopian society. To begin, the most common problem is people disagreeing. Up
next, you have the problem of them not having enough food, and they need outside funding. Final
say, there is modern technology, without modern technology, it would be even harder for them.
Utopias are very short lived because of these problems. First, The most devastating problem in a

Symbolism Of A Butterfly In The Holocaust
The butterfly has become a symbol for the 1.5 million children murdered in the holocaust. During
the holocaust many children were put into concentration camps, they knew they were going to die.
They carved hundreds of butterflies with their nails or stones on the walls of the prisons. I believe
these butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a
message of hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not
die. Just like how a larva turns out into a butterflyan flies out of the cocoon, similar once they die,
they would completely come out of their suffering and hardships and once again live life in peace
and freedom. A butterfly is so awakening and charming which

Nutrition In Teen Pregnancy
Nutrition in Teen Pregnancy I chose the topic Nutrition in Teen Pregnancy because I find teen
pregnancy interesting. I find teen pregnancy interesting because it is something that until recently
was not heard of all the time. Over the past year s teen pregnancy has more or less become a norm
around the world.
When a teenager becomes pregnant most of the time, it is a surprise to them, and they had not
planned to be. The teen then has a big decision to make: keep the baby, give the baby up for
adoption or abort the baby (Planned Parenthood, 2017). If they choose to keep the baby or give
the baby up for adoption, they need to receive prenatal care. In cases where the teen has not
planned to become pregnant, they have not had any care trying to prepare for the baby so nutrition
during a pregnancy is extremely important. Many pregnant teens are willing to change their
nutrition to improve the chances of delivering a healthy child (Montgomery, 2003).
Most teens are aware that nutrition during pregnancy is important. However, these teens do not
have the knowledge of nutrition needed during pregnancy. When a teenager finds out that they are
pregnant, they need to start prenatal care. They first need to go to the doctor to have a check up to
make sure both them, and the baby are healthy (Montgomery, 2003).
Teen pregnancies have many risks compared to adult pregnancies. If a pregnant teen does not
receive prenatal care, the baby is, three times more likely to have a low birth

Jing-Mei In Two Kinds
Jing Mei is a young Chinese American girl with a mother who immigrates here after losing her
first husband and two daughters in China. She believes that America is the place of high hopes,
that there is nothing stopping you from being anything that you want to be, as long as you try.
However, when she pushes her daughter so hard to become a pianist, her daughter decides to push
back to stop her mother from making her something she isn t. The character Jing Mei from Two
Kinds by Amy Tan exemplifies strong will throughout her life but does so in a negative manner,
which affects her relationship with her mother all the way through adulthood.
By the time she was nine years old Jing Mei was already being told she could be a prodigy. Being

However, once another Chinese Shirley Temple appears on their TV playing the piano with a
Peter Pan haircut just like Jing Mei s, her mother criticizes the girl on TV and Jing Mei comes to
her defense by saying she s trying hard. Her mother counters with comparing the girl to her
daughter, Not the best. Because you not trying (Tan 474). All her mother wants is for her to try
and do her best, but Jing Mei just wants her mother to like her the way she is. Three days after
seeing the girl on TV her mother signs her up for piano lessons with Mr. Chong, who happens to
be deaf and unable to notice as Jing Mei plays nonsense and makes many mistakes. She quickly
gathers that she can be lazy while at these practices and not correct herself if she makes a mistake;
she realizes that she never really gave herself a chance. Her negative determination keeps her from
trying, just like her mother had said. And when her mother brags about her natural talent to her
Aunt Lindo, her determination gets stronger. She continues to cheat at her piano lessons when she
is supposed to memorize her piece for the talent show and she put more effort into practicing her
curtsy than the song. This shows when it s time her to perform the piece Pleading Child in front of
her family and Old Chong. Mistake after mistake she continues playing and at the end, she does
the curtsy she worked so hard on. Then when she sees her mother s face she feels the shame of her
parents and when they return home she awaits her mother s wrath. But, when her mother proceeds
into the house without saying a word, Jing Mei feels disappointed too, for not having a reason to

The law consists of types of information that patients must be given in order to make informed
decisions about getting medical care, diagnostic test, or treatment ( American Cancer Society ,

be clearly understood by the patient; it s up to the patient to ask questions about any information
they don t understand. The patient must be given the opportunity to look over the information and

From 1994 to 1997, the number of infants born in US is around 10 million (birth to 30months). A
baby, on average, uses five diapers per day for 30 months, for a total of 4500 diapers. At an average
retail price in the range of 18 to 27 cents per diapers, each baby represents about 1012.5 dollars in
retail sales. The retail dollar value of the US disposable diapers market was estimated to be 3.39
billion dollars in 1997. The retail dollar value of the training pants and young pants market was
estimated to be 595 million dollars in 1997.
Distribution channels
Disposable diapers and training pants are distributed principally through grocery stores,
drugstores and mass merchants. Grocery stores accounted for approximately 2 billion dollars in
diapers and training pants retail sale in 1997. Grocery store distribution of diapers and training
pants has been decreasing as a percentage of total retail sales since 1994. Grocery Stores accounted
for 51.2% of retail sales in 1997, compared with 60% in 1994.
Mass merchants and drugstores recorded diaper and training pants retail sales of about 1.9 billion

A Research On Public Relations
Public relations is one of the most important tools marketers have to help them foster goodwill
about a company or product. Not only can public relations be used to promote goodwill, it can also
serve as the main defensive tool against a scandal or company issue. With consumers more
connected to news through social media channels than ever before, public relationshas taken on a
new importance for companies who want to isolate themselves from as much bad press as possible.
Companies who fail at public relations, on any level, leave themselves open to numerous issues that
will have negative impacts on their sales, performance and customer perception.
Personally, I am not very likely to discuss brands or products with my peers or family members
as it isn t something that I generally bring into my conversations. One recent situation where I

Chips for the first time. Having really enjoyed the product, I felt confident recommending it to
my friends and suggesting it to them for future purchases. Having a really positive experience is
the main reason that I wanted to go out and share my experience with other people. Whether it
was superior service, an excellent product, or just a generally positive experience, any of these
aspects are key to my personal desire to share or discuss a brand with my peers.

Comparing The Economic And Cultural Benefits Of...
Introduction
Background and Significance:
The goal of this action research project is to contrast and compare the economic and cultural
benefits of multigenerational households in the Midwest of USA since the economic downturn.
This research will focus on multigenerational households of families attending the Southern Illinois
University Edwardsville (SIUE) Belleville Head Start Center . The families at this particular Head
Start are diverse, young parents with low income and other factors that fit the criteria for this
project. The center s population would have the perfect variables and characteristics for my project.
The project would include information on the economic and cultural aspects of different racial
/ethnic groups, elder care, single parents, immigrants, black and Hispanics who live in
multigenerational homes. The multigenerational families have become a growing topic of interest.
Multifamily households are defined by the U.S. Census as family households consisting of three or
more generations (U. S. Census Bureau, 2012).
The purpose of this project is to investigate how beneficial it is to families to live in a
multigenerational family household. For over twenty years, I have worked with these families and
it has been a vital balance to create stability for the family and directly impacted the child. I will
use the findings of this action research project to better assist my families to reach a level of self
sufficiency.

Oedipus The Good Life
Since ancient times, many have sought to the answer the philosophical question, What is the good
life ? This is a question with no simple answer! For some individuals, the good life could mean
living a life based on justice and rationality, or on faith and trust in the divine, or on the attainment
of power, military, glory, and reputation. Their perspectives varied greatly depending upon their
cultural values and contexts.
Group I: Oedipus Oedipus Rex, written by Sophocles
Group II: Socrates in the Apology (written by Plato)
Parallels:
i.Oedipus and Socrates both yearn/search to seek the truth (mission; desire to do what they believe
is right; reputation (Oedipus/honor, honesty Socrates/just); search for meaning)

Oedipus stops at nothing, as he is too proud to fail. Yet his deep focus and determination prevent
him from listening to others. His arrogant nature inhibits him from learning and fully understanding
situations.
Angered by Oedipus dismissiveness, Tiresias shouts,
Listen to me closely: the man you ve sought so long, proclaiming, cursing up and down, the

Japan s Foreign Policy During The End Of The Twentieth...
In the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Japan was a strong militaristic country
that held a strong power and influence in the Asia Pacific region. It was an expansionist and
strong imperialist nation similar as the Western colonizers such as England, the Dutch, Russia,
France and Germany. The Japanese empire extended from the Dutch East Indies in the south to
Manchuria in the north before the country surrendered on September 1945 to the Allies. The
Allied Power led by General Douglas MacArthur had occupied Japan for several years before it
was fully liberated in 1952. After the occupation, Japan s foreign policy was given back to its
government. The country took the opportunity given to repair its relations with its neighbours.
Some historians claimed that the reconciliation period was successful through several treaties
agreed upon the East Asian countries in the 1960s. However, it was different side of the story
when the issue was asked to the Japanese former colonies. A lot of its people will claim that they
could not forget what the Empire of Japanhad done to them. Hence, it would be wise to ask how
does Japan war history would affect its relations with its East Asia neighbours?
This paper will explain the two most significant impacts that the aggressive Empire of Japan history
affects its connections with its neighbours. History has caused the reconciliation process between
the countries to be delayed and continues frictions between them to occur.

Child Labour And Indi Causes, Challenges And Legislations
Child Labour in India: Causes, Challenges and Legislations to combat the malaise.
Abstract: Child labour continues to be a problem even today in many parts of the world. These
children are mostly inhabitants of poor undeveloped nations of South America, Africa and Asia.
They live in harsh conditions with almost no access to education. The income earned by them,
however minimal, is necessary to feed and clothe their families who are dependent on them. The
families have no other option but to push their children to work in various informal industrial and
agricultural sectors in order to make ends meet. They are simply not aware of the harm this does to
their young children nor is there an orientation to send these children to school instead. The
Government of India has taken a lot of legal initiatives in order to address this serious issue of child
labour. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has been proactively involved in the
eradication of this malaise plaguing Indian society. India is also a participant in the United Nation
s International Program on Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) under the aegis of ILO. The
present paper will look at the various causes which lead to child labour, the international and
national legislations that are in place to eliminate this glaring menace and the steps which must be
taken in order to abolish child labour in the country.

The Spiral Road Summary
The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the
People Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just
another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the
people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a
series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the
PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both
of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book
with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is
slowly opening up to the rest of the world. As a scholar his work is remarkable in bringing light to
the peasantry, who feed the development of Chinafrom bottom up. However, Huang s adaptation
of Secretary Ye s voice skews his work towards subjectivity or bias that... Show more content on

The repeated problem reading this book was a desire to know more, which sometimes was
fulfilled in later chapters. However, the question of validation was another. Ye just was not
enough. His own behavior and practices of traditional storytelling and keeping alive the family
value suggested that the purge of traditions in countryside did not leave a significant result as
wanted by the nationalist government. However, in the midst of the book foreseeing the Cultural
Revolution is overshadowed by Ye s tone describing his earlier political activism after end of
Shaoqi s rule, where his military aims transformed to a menial local post in his home village as a
result of the Four Cleanup movement. Again, Ye s self serving bias in the context of the reforms

Mccune Albright Syndrome Summary
McCune Albright Syndrome Summary: McCune Albright syndrome (MAS) is a disorder caused
by a non inherited mutation of GNAS1 gene. Clinical manifestations of the disorder include one or
more of the following: (1) polyostotic fibrous dysplasia (PFD), (2) cafГ© au lait skin
pigmentation, and (3) endocrine hyperfunction, usually early puberty in girls but also may include
other endocrine abnormalities like pituitary gigantism and Cushing syndrome. It is a rare disease
with estimated prevalence between 1/100,000 and 1/1,000,000. Prognosis is good if it is diagnosed

PFD results from increased cAMP in bone marrow stromal cells, leading to increased proliferation
and abnormal differentiation. Interleuken 6 is also increased and it impairs the ability of bone
skeletal stem cells to differentiate to mature functioning osteoblasts. The scar tissue due to PFD can
be minimal or cause extreme deformity that can weaken the bone, cause fractures, stimulate
scoliosis of the spine or cause impingement of the nerves. Clinical representations will mostly
include asymmetrical deformities of the long bones, ribs, and skull. No specific medications are
available to treat the bone manifestations of McCune Albright syndrome. Surgery for PFD can
prevent future fractures, correct bone deformity and substantially improve quality of life.

Questions On Forming A Contractual Relationship

Part 1: Forming a contractual relationship Contractual or legal relationship between parties that
are involved in the relationship can be evidence when there is an offer, the offer is accepted, and
there is also valuable and legal validity of the considerations. Its existence does not imply that the
contract is enforceable. The existence of a contractual relationship is determined by the
acceptance of an offer without qualification (Clerwood Para 1). Suppose an offer is made and the
client requests for the offer to be varied, then it becomes a counter offer and no contract can be

On the legal perspective, they are presumed to not knowing what they are engaged in. Legal
minors are often faceted into this category of individuals and in the event that they incorporated
into a contract, they have the leverage of considering the agreement voidable (Stim Para 1). In
this case, voidable implies that the individual lacking the capacity into the contract can do so by
either ending the contract or agreeing the contract to proceed as per the agreement. A minor
who signs a contract can therefore honor or avoid the deal in the contract (Stim Para 2). West s
case of wrecking the car against a stump is relatively complex since the clerk is not privy to
West being a minor. However, the likely chances that the lawsuit against West concerning the
damages succeeding is due to the fact that West signed a contract despite being a minor and also
had a driver s license. Part 3: Enforceability of contractual rights The validity of contract is
determined by the involved parties being in agreement to the terms of the contract. One of the
parties submits the offer while the other accepts it within the stipulated period. The agreement
concerning contracts should never be coerced since if procured by fraud or duress, it becomes
void. Its enforceability may leave more questions than answers if it one sided. This is case where
the terms are favors unreasonably one party in the contract (Helewitz

Essay on Police Brutality and the Use of Force
There are very few careers with as high demands for an ethical standard as law enforcement.
Although there are many careers, which require a dedication to doing the right thing, it is
undeniable that there is a tremendous degree of responsibility and expectations placed on the police
officer. While most professions allow for careful thought and planning, a policeofficer is often
thrust into a situation with little advanced intelligence about what is occurring. Often an officer is
involved in a situation which has the potential to turn violent. Relying on training allows the
officer to successfully navigate a variety of situations. After a few years on the job, even the

The application of force is often considered ethically neutral it can, under a variety of
circumstances, constitute an abuse of authority. The International Association of Chiefs of
Police (IACP) defines the use of force as that amount of effort required by police to compel
compliance from an unwilling subject (Police Use of Force in America 2001, n.d, p. 1). The
IACP defines the use of excessive force as the application of an amount and/or frequency of
force greater than that required to compel compliance from a willing or unwilling subject
(Police Use of Force in America 2001, n.d, p. 1). According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics
(n.d.), in 2005 19% of U.S. residents 16 and over had contact with a police officer. Of these
contacts, 9 in 10 felt the police acted properly. During these contacts with approximately 43.5
million persons, an estimated 1.6% had force used against them or threatened to be used
(Bureau of Justice Statistics, n.d.). A study by the International Association of Chiefs of Police
(as cited in Police Use of Force in America 2001, n.d.) shows that force was used 3.6 times for
every 10,000 (police/citizen) encounters this suggests that force was not used in 99% of all cases.
Statistical data for excessive force is lacking as there is no standard measure in place. Given these
figures it is safe to suggest that

Panera Bread s commitment to freshness could potentially serve as a weakness if one of their
dough distribution centers were temporarily unable to produce the required amount of fresh
dough for the locations it serves. Whether this be a processing issue or if the company was unable
to use a key ingredient because of food recalls or if an ingredient became more limited in supply,
the company would struggle to provide its full menu.
Opportunities in the Environment The biggest opportunity the case study presented was the
untapped markets that Panera could potentially expand to including large U.S. cities and in the
international markets. Exhibit three on page C 166 of the case study shows the markets where
Panera Bread has limited or no presence. Each of these cities provides potential opportunities for
the company. With Panera s high rate of return, in the sense of customers returning to the
restaurant once they have tried it once, the company needs to strive to get more first time
customers in the door. To do this they need to raise the quality of awareness . . . and boost trial
dinning at multiple meal times (C 169). In addition to getting first time customers the company
also needs to strive to get customers to come in for meals that they usually do not eat at Panera.
For example, the case explained that most individuals who come in for lunch will only consider

to make something out of the small floodplain town so they decided to try to control the Colorado

I m not sure if the Yuma people realized that with the construction of the dam, their small town

The dams prevented the transportation of steamboats from going upriver. The dams made the
water levels fluctuate and made the use of steamboat transporting goods unsafe and making it
unsafe because there wasn t enough clearance for the boats to move through without knowing if
you were going to make it through. To turn this around a few positive effects on Yuma County
was in 1931 the California Seven Party Agreement that states that Yuma County would be given
water to use for their crops. The 1931 California Seven Party Agreement states that the Palo
Verde Irrigation District, the Imperial Irrigation District, the Yuma Project and lands in Imperial

the farms were prospering settlers came, the area was expanding and so was Yuma. The whole
idea was to claim the West by ensuring a stable water supply to irrigate crops and for towns to

distributing water to Yuma County for over one hundred years! The water that flows through the
siphon helps irrigate about 50,000 acres of fertile farmland in all of the Yuma valley. The siphon

The Coward In Act Of Solitude By Joyce Carol Oates
A coward is defined as someone who lacks the courage to take action, a person who is unwilling
to do anything unpleasant. A coward refuses to stand up for what is right or what is good because

the fender, then against the door, and then tires skidded on the wet pavement and squealed, but
held; and next thing he knew, Chester was a half block away, seeing, blurred in the rearview
mirror, the black man s body spiraled motionless in the street. He kept going, he didn t look back

Difference Between Conservatism And Liberalism
INTRODUCTION
The term liberalism has a variety of meanings nowadays. Freedom or liberty for each and every
individual is the main aim of the philosophy of liberalism. Freedom had different concepts in
different periods of time in the history and therefore the programs of liberalism were also different
in those time periods. However the main aim always remained the same. Liberalism not only
believed in human nature was good but it also believed that humans were rational. It supposes that,
as people have a logical intellect, they have the ability to identify different challenges and problems
and solve them. This will thus improve the human condition systematically. Conservatism, on the
other hand, is the opposite doctrine of liberalism. Conservatism, simply we can say that, supports
the preservation of the status quo.
Hence we can see that liberalism is a worldview founded on the ideas of liberty and equality.
Liberals generally believe in free and fair elections, freedom of press, freedom of religion, private
property and civil right.
Liberalism first developed in the western world. It became famous among philosophers and
economists during the era of Enlightenment. At that point of time absolute monarchy, state religion
and hereditary privilege was the prevailing system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In International Relations that era is normally referred to as Idealism. With the birth of United
Nations Organization, liberalism once again gained momentum. But later with the start of cold
war power politics the rays of hope also seemed to fade away. Then when the cold war ended the
hopes for liberalism also emerged back. Liberal intellectuals made many justifications as to why
liberalism should be the supreme over other competing ideologies. Liberals are generally very
much optimistic therefore liberalism is generally described in literature as the tradition of

What is worse, at the end of the story, the narrator emphasizes that the story is nothing but true,
arousing more suspicion and contradiction since the story also contains impractical materials and
cases like a werewolf and the werewolf turning back to a human being when it wears its clothes
back on, not only the excessive details that a third person narrator may not acquire in common
sense. Unlike this somewhat loose narrator, the first person narrator, Miss. Hester, in The Old
Nurse s Story does not have this kind of flaw, for she tells, with enough details, only what she

E Learning Systems Improve Employee Engagement
Today s way of training the workforce and providing employee engagement seems to be moving on
the high speed train of technology. With the consist demand of reducing expenditures and
increasing profit, businesses are needing to look at different ways to yield green on their bottom
line. Many businesses are looking at e learningsystems to enhance employee training and
engagement. E learning generally refers to the use of computer network technology, primarily
over an intranet or through the Internet, to deliver information and instruction to individuals (Lee,
Hsieh Chen, 2013). Does the high cost of electronic learning or virtual classrooms really hold up
to the hype? E learning, or online learning, systems are becoming vital within the workforce
today, and will continue to grow as technology advances; as a result, its success depends on how
employers and human resources staff support their employees and the use of e learning systems.
How a system is developed, implemented, and accepted will impact the overall success of any
transition to an e learning system, and also whether or not learning goals are met by both the
employer and employee.
Development of an e learning training system does not happen at the flip of a switch. Take for
instance Laura Hackett of MillerCoors University (Harris, 2015). Hackett was a veteran employee
and vice president at Miller Brewing Company when her CEO approached her with the instruction
to, not only lead, but to create a new department

Mary Shelley is one of the best known authors of gothic literature. Her most famous work is the
horror novel Frankenstein which she wrote at the early age of 20. Since she was so young when
writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content
of her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes theory says that the author and so his or her life
should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Nevertheless in some stories,
the traces of the author are so strong and important that they cannot be ignored when analysing the

goings of such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house (Sparks 13). This might
serve as an argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is
also important for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with
deep knowledge in this area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other
characters. For example, Elizabeth is sad because she [has] not the same opportunities of
enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to
visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was
desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any
foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the probable wish to speak other
languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a language (Shelley 74 79). In
conclusion, one can see that education played a key role in Shelley s life even if she was not
allowed to take part in it as much as she would have

Factors That Affect The Water
Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in water. Mr.
Redman states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that hinders that motion or is the
force acting in opposition to the motion of an object. Parachutes are a great example of this force;
when air is trapped in the nylon of a parachute, it creates dragslowing the velocity of the
parachutist. Water drag is acted upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of
the swimmers closely affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear
tightly fitted swimsuits all to reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer also affect drag
resistance. Water is 800 times denser than air, drag forces... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly pushes against the
shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a force by adding large hoods or
visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected. The back of the truck is built in a streamlined
fashion, like a plane, to completely extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of
drag is frictional forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels
encounter friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and may become hot.
This drag is common among cars and other ground transportation. Engineers have looked to the
future to solve this drag. MAGLEV trains are levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion.
This way friction drag is eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air
resistance, MAGLEV trains incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to cut
through air, that way the force of air is evenly distributed around the body. Drag also occurs in
water called, fluid friction or fluid resistance. Boats, ships, subs, whales, dolphin, and swimmers
all go through fluid rest incense. Much like air resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a
object is moving. And again much like air resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag.
Submarines were once built like boats only they were underwater. Until 1953 when the us army

Mutual Funds Advantages And Disadvantages
1.Mutual Funds(Open ended) A Mutual Fund is an investment vehicle that is made up of a pool of
funds collected from many investors for the purpose of investing in securities such as bonds, stocks,
money market instruments and identical assets. Advantages: 1.Liquidity An advantage of mutual
funds is the ability to get in and out with relative ease. In general, you are able to sell your mutual
funds in a short period of time without there being much difference between sale price and the most
current market value. 2.Diversification By purchasing mutual funds, you are provided with the

Certainty about the specific investments in trust The money placed in an investment trust is used
to capitalize a fixed portfolio. Unlike mutual funds or hedge funds, for some investors, this is a
key advantage because they are given the ability to always know what they own. Disadvantages:
1.Opportunity cost This means that by putting money in unit trust, you lost the opportunity to use
it elsewhere. Of course there is no guarantee that putting the money elsewhere will yield better
returns. In the same way, putting money in unit trust prevents you from investing it elsewhere,
such as, directly in the stock market. 2.Fees and charges The services provided by the unit trust
fund managers are not free. There are fees and charges payable by the unit holders to the unit
trust schemes. Granted these fees are almost negligible compared to the professional expertise
received by the investors, it is something the unite holders have to bear. 5. Other type of funds
1.Money market funds It is open ended funds which normally invest in short term securities,
usually one year, for example treasury bills or Government bonds. Money market funds are greatly

The Role of Gender In Like Water for Chocolate and The...
Gender plays a significant role in family and societal traditions. Some families place such a large
importance on that role that it is impossible for a person to achieve his or her goals or live his or
her life. Society binds people to strict standards that are difficult to avoid. In Laura Esquivel s
Like Water for Chocolate, Tita is forced to follow the tradition of her family. She cannot marry
and is doomed to serve her mother for the rest of her life. Her two sisters, Rosaura and Gertrudis,
are also effected by this tradition, but in different ways. James Joyce s collection of short stories,

Mama Elena refuses and offers her eldest daughter instead, confirming another tradition that the
oldest daughter must marry first. Pedro accepts so he can be close to Tita. While preparing for the
wedding, Tita focuses on the white cake and the white icing. The white wedding cake symbolizes
her hopeless love and the impure marriage that is about to take place. White relates to Tita s
virginity, which she can never escape. The color also represents the typical ideals of
womanhood and femininity which Tita can never experience because she is bound to tradition.
At Pedro and Rosaura s wedding, guests stare at Tita, aware that she has broken the family
tradition by falling in love. She is harassed by their comments but she remains strong. The cake,
effected by Tita s tears, poisons the guests and ruins the wedding. Rosaura s perfect white dress
is ruined, exposing the impurity of the union. Only when Mama Elena dies, Tita is free to
marry. She is engaged to John but decides not to marry him because she believes she is pregnant
with Pedro s child. Her love for Pedro is too strong for her to marry another man. Even though
she is free to marry someone she loves she doesn t; Tita chooses to once again cross the
boundaries of society and has an affair with Pedro. Once again through death Tita is freed. When

Healthcare Internal And External Factor Analysis
Factors that affect pricing in any organization is desired net income, competitive position, and
market structure. All of these factors are taking into consideration by the organization and it also
affects how the organization can alter their prices and to what point they are expected to manage or
regulate their pricing. Desired Net Income gives the healthcare organizations an initial point for
their short and long term determinations of pricing. All organizations have to product an adequate

Internal factors are establishing prices and marketers ought to take into consideration the
importance and significance of a number of factors which is the outcome of the organizations
choices, results, and actions. These factors are manageable by the organization and they may be
modified, if need be. In spite of this, making a swift transformation is not always the answer or the
quick fix. For example, product pricing is determined or influenced by the productivity of an
industrial facility. The salesperson realizes that rising productivity can decrease of expense of
manufacturing every product and therefore lets the salesperson to possibly reduce the price.
External factors are not managed by the organization but then again it will influence the choices of
pricing. Being able to better comprehend these factors would entail the marketer conduct research
to observe and evaluate everything that is going on in all of the markets that the organization works
for because of the influences of these factors can differ within the market (Factors Affecting Pricing
Decision, 2016). External forces that can impact the organization are unmanageable because the
organization does not manage them however, the organization can still take action and adjust to
their occurrences and effects with the organizations manageable blend of components from the
organizations internal setting. The unmanageable influences in the external setting are rivalry,

Camus argues that the only certain thing in life is the death, and, because all humans will
eventually meet death, all lives are all equally meaningless. Meursault moves toward this realization
throughout the novel, but he does not fully until after his argument with the chaplain in the final
chapter. Meursault realizes that, just as he is indifferent to the universe, so is the universe
indifferent to him. Like everyone, Meursault has been born, will die, and will have no further
importance. He then fully comes to terms with the inevitability of death, he understands that it
does not matter whether he dies by execution or lives to die a natural death at an old age, but to
make the most of his remaining days. Meursault stated deep down I know perfectly well that it
doesn t much matter whether you die at 30 or at seventy, since in either case other men and women
will naturally go on living and for thousands of years. (Camus, 1946,

Employees were unhappy with their state of work and the manners in which they were laid off. As
one company made sweeping cuts in the hopes of saving money, others followed suit. This led to
many lawsuits being filed by employees В– some as individual cases and some as class actions.
Employers had to find ways to limit these lawsuits or contend with the misery at hand. FastServe
Inc. is a $25M, 350 person company involved in the direct marketing of branded sports apparel.
The company decided to open two online marketing and distribution channels in order to focus
exclusively on America s Generation Y segment. Immediately after the implementation of these
channels occurred, the company began to experience technology problems and chose to move
out of the online business. This led to some major decision making for the company s
management team. The online division had to be downsized and FastServe could only retain a
few employees and assign them new jobs, based on their performance and skill levels. Five
employees have been identified out of which three needs to be released. Possible risks of
discrimination claims exist against the company from the dismissed employees. The goal of this
paper is to help identify which of these employees should be laid off, identify the key concepts of
employment law that would affect each of the employees employment status, and explain any

The Depletion Of The Natural Resources
In the past recent years, the depletion of the natural resources has become the area of major
attention throughout the world. These resources include the fossil fuels, minerals, natural
vegetation, animals, air, water, sunlight, soil, etc. The rate of its consumption is increasing day by
day. This ultimately leads to the ceasing of the resources to the earth s crust. The rising demand of
these resources has led to a limited supply of these resources which has serious impacts to
environmental damages like air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and the depletion of the
ozone layer. Thus, there is an urgent need for mainly the industries to find an alternative approach
reducing its unwanted effect on the environment.
Manufacturing plays a very important role in an organization particularly to build competitive
benefit and improve performance. Manufacturers have been neglecting their social environmental
responsibility and have focused too much on their profits. The minimization of waste and pollution
produced can be achieved by product and process designing. Green manufacturing is an emerging
field as a solution taken by the industries in the recent years.
Green manufacturing can broadly be defined as the technology used in a manufacturing process
that finds a smarter way to use the limited resources, both in manufacturing the material and in the
energy used in the process. This is achieved by reducing the waste and pollution by re defining the
present production

  • 2. The Aztec Empire Essay Who were the Aztecs? Why were they considered to be an empire even greater than the Romans? And how was Hernan Cortes able to defeat them? These are some of the questions that people ask about these indigenous people. These people are known as the Aztecs but originally called themselves Mexica. They came to Mexicoin the early thirteenth century and from there they started to develop a social structure and government consisting of priests, kings, peasants, and soldiers. Besides having a very organized society the Aztecs had a very large and intimidating army consisting of full time soldiers and peasants. By 1427 A.D. the Aztecempire became the dominant group and controlled most of central Mexico. Considering how advanced and large the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had cannons to bring down the Aztec homes and temples, they had swords that easily cut through Aztec spears, but what I think gave the Spaniards such a great advantage was the armor they wore and the horses they rode on. The reason being that wearing armor would make killing the Spaniards that much harder and being mounted on a horse only made them more intimidating in the eyes of the Aztecs as well as giving them the fighting advantage. The second reason that the Aztecs fell to the Spaniards is just as important as the first and it s the Indian tribes that assisted the Spaniards in finding and defeating the Aztecs. Although there were a few Indian tribes that became allies and assisted the Spaniards it was the Cempoala Indian tribe that helped them set up a base on a shore of a village that Cortes named Vera Cruz when he claimed it in the name of Spain. It was at this base that supplies could come in with less danger to the Spaniards and also it was the same shore where Cortes burned his ships in order to keep his men from retreating to Cuba. Besides the Cempoala tribe the Tlaxcalans after being defeated by the Spaniards gave food, water, translators, and gifts to Cortes and his men as well as one thousand Indians when the battle against the Aztecs began. The reason for the Tlaxcalans and the rest of the Indian tribes giving so much support and assistance to the Spaniards had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Day At High School The idea came upon me late on a Sunday night in early February. An idea that me and my buddies from high school need one last get together before the end of the semester. Yes, the end of the semester is not for another 2 months, but many of my friends go to a variety of different colleges which means many different weeks of spring break. I realized that this would be our last chance together so let s go home this weekend and get together. We ran with the idea. We all found ways back home and our plan was to get together that Friday night. I looked forward to that Friday night all week, but when that Friday night came it was all ruined by a guy that would do anything to never be unfair to someone on purpose. On February 7th around 8 o clock or so me and my roommates were eating dinner discussing spring break. We talked about when our spring break was and how it was going to be way different since many of our buddies go to different colleges and have separate spring break dates. As we talked dates I realized that our spring break was a week before all my other buddies spring breaks were. This is the reason upon deciding to have a get together later that week. I immediately sent out a text to one of my good buddies Jackson. Jackson has a garage that is fully renovated therefore it is our primary hang out spot. We talked about if it was a good idea and if we could stay in the garage that Friday night. All went well that entire week. Me and my five other buddies all found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Washington Irving and Romanticism Essays The short stories of Washington Irving are examples of the literary movement of Romanticism and its characteristics which are evidenced in this author s works. These characteristics are sometimes found in abundant quantities or limited amounts in each of his short stories. However, no matter what short story Washington Irvingwrote, the Age of Romanticismand its defining characteristics are found in each of his selections. So, too, do each of the author s short stories present a unique study about the author s intentions for creating his work. In Washington Irving s selection The Three Kings of Bermuda , the author portrays tone in a way that he changes it often throughout his writing to help the reader understand the emotion and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Romanticism as a conviction that intuition, imagination, and emotion are inferior to reason is often thought as the best known characteristic. It was used to show the human abilities and the source for the subjects. This helps us to understand the world around us and also how we take part in it. Emotions were thought to be one of the main factors in place of logic and reason. People looked to making music often to express feelings that were being felt. Washington s tone helps to convey the emotion in this story. Washington changes the tone throughout the story to help the reader better understand the emotion of this short story. He is a true enchanter, Irving states, whose spell operates not only upon the sense, but upon the imagination and the heart. When they are stranded he uses tone showing that they were happy and felt a sort of power that they were the kings of this island. Then he changes it to anger and a fight for the ambergris when they discovered it. When the ambergris is taken away from them by the new landowners, he shows the emotion of disappointment. The quote, All kingdoms, however, are doomed to revolution, conclusion, or decay; and so it fared with the empire of the three kings of Bermuda. is a powerful quote showing the emotion in Irving s tone. Romanticism as a conviction that poetry is superior to science is a common characteristic because of the growing popularity of poetry at the time. Many times the meaning ... • 7. Symbolism Of A Butterfly In The Holocaust The butterfly has become a symbol for the 1.5 million children murdered in the holocaust. During the holocaust many children were put into concentration camps, they knew they were going to die. They carved hundreds of butterflies with their nails or stones on the walls of the prisons. I believe these butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a message of hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not die. Just like how a larva turns out into a butterflyan flies out of the cocoon, similar once they die, they would completely come out of their suffering and hardships and once again live life in peace and freedom. • 9. Nutrition In Teen Pregnancy Nutrition in Teen Pregnancy I chose the topic Nutrition in Teen Pregnancy because I find teen pregnancy interesting. I find teen pregnancy interesting because it is something that until recently was not heard of all the time. Over the past year s teen pregnancy has more or less become a norm around the world. When a teenager becomes pregnant most of the time, it is a surprise to them, and they had not planned to be. The teen then has a big decision to make: keep the baby, give the baby up for adoption or abort the baby (Planned Parenthood, 2017). If they choose to keep the baby or give the baby up for adoption, they need to receive prenatal care. In cases where the teen has not planned to become pregnant, they have not had any care trying to prepare for the baby so nutrition during a pregnancy is extremely important. Many pregnant teens are willing to change their nutrition to improve the chances of delivering a healthy child (Montgomery, 2003). Most teens are aware that nutrition during pregnancy is important. However, these teens do not have the knowledge of nutrition needed during pregnancy. When a teenager finds out that they are pregnant, they need to start prenatal care. They first need to go to the doctor to have a check up to make sure both them, and the baby are healthy (Montgomery, 2003). Teen pregnancies have many risks compared to adult pregnancies. If a pregnant teen does not receive prenatal care, the baby is, three times more likely to have a low birth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, when she pushes her daughter so hard to become a pianist, her daughter decides to push back to stop her mother from making her something she isn t. All her mother wants is for her to try and do her best, but Jing Mei just wants her mother to like her the way she is. Three days after seeing the girl on TV her mother signs her up for piano lessons with Mr. Chong, who happens to be deaf and unable to notice as Jing Mei plays nonsense and makes many mistakes. She quickly gathers that she can be lazy while at these practices and not correct herself if she makes a mistake; she realizes that she never really gave herself a chance. Her negative determination keeps her from trying, just like her mother had said. And when her mother brags about her natural talent to her Aunt Lindo, her determination gets stronger. She continues to cheat at her piano lessons when she is supposed to memorize her piece for the talent show and she put more effort into practicing her curtsy than the song. This shows when it s time her to perform the piece Pleading Child in front of her family and Old Chong. Mistake after mistake she continues playing and at the end, she does the curtsy she worked so hard on. In the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Japan was a strong militaristic country that held a strong power and influence in the Asia Pacific region. It was an expansionist and strong imperialist nation similar as the Western colonizers such as England, the Dutch, Russia, France and Germany. The Japanese empire extended from the Dutch East Indies in the south to Manchuria in the north before the country surrendered on September 1945 to the Allies. The Allied Power led by General Douglas MacArthur had occupied Japan for several years before it was fully liberated in 1952. After the occupation, Japan s foreign policy was given back to its government. The country took the opportunity given to repair its relations with its neighbours. Some historians claimed that the reconciliation period was successful through several treaties agreed upon the East Asian countries in the 1960s. Abstract: Child labour continues to be a problem even today in many parts of the world. These children are mostly inhabitants of poor undeveloped nations of South America, Africa and Asia. They live in harsh conditions with almost no access to education. The income earned by them, however minimal, is necessary to feed and clothe their families who are dependent on them. The families have no other option but to push their children to work in various informal industrial and agricultural sectors in order to make ends meet. They are simply not aware of the harm this does to their young children nor is there an orientation to send these children to school instead. The Government of India has taken a lot of legal initiatives in order to address this serious issue of child labour. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has been proactively involved in the eradication of this malaise plaguing Indian society. India is also a participant in the United Nation s International Program on Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) under the aegis of ILO. The present paper will look at the various causes which lead to child labour, the international and national legislations that are in place to eliminate this glaring menace and the steps which must be taken in order to abolish child labour in the country. The book can be considered a series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. West s case of wrecking the car against a stump is relatively complex since the clerk is not privy to West being a minor. • 33. Difference Between Conservatism And Liberalism INTRODUCTION The term liberalism has a variety of meanings nowadays. Freedom or liberty for each and every individual is the main aim of the philosophy of liberalism. Freedom had different concepts in different periods of time in the history and therefore the programs of liberalism were also different in those time periods. However the main aim always remained the same. Liberalism not only believed in human nature was good but it also believed that humans were rational. It supposes that, as people have a logical intellect, they have the ability to identify different challenges and problems and solve them. This will thus improve the human condition systematically. Conservatism, on the other hand, is the opposite doctrine of liberalism. Conservatism, simply we can say that, supports the preservation of the status quo. Hence we can see that liberalism is a worldview founded on the ideas of liberty and equality. Liberals generally believe in free and fair elections, freedom of press, freedom of religion, private property and civil right. Liberalism first developed in the western world. The second story is a gothic literature named The Old Nurse s Story written by Elizabeth Gaskell. This is a self contradiction that disturbs reader s concentration: the more detailed the story becomes, the more suspicious it gets in terms of the how the narrator acquired the information. What is worse, at the end of the story, the narrator emphasizes that the story is nothing but true, arousing more suspicion and contradiction since the story also contains impractical materials and cases like a werewolf and the werewolf turning back to a human being when it wears its clothes back on, not only the excessive details that a third person narrator may not acquire in common sense. Unlike this somewhat loose narrator, the first person narrator, Miss. Hester, in The Old Nurse s Story does not have this kind of flaw, for she tells, with enough details, only what she actually heard and saw as a participant in the story, leaving no room for the readers to doubt the authenticity of the plot. When describing the surroundings of the Furnivall manor house, Hester states Only in front of the house all was clear. The great oval drive was without a weed; and neither tree nor creeper was allowed to grow over the long, many windowed front; at both sides of which a wing projected, which were each the ends of other side fronts; for the house, although it was so desolate, was even grander than I expected (2). Analyse the advantages and limitations of different methods of, and media for, making presentations A variety of communication media can be considered when planning to produce a presentation, for example verbal communication and written communication, each type of communication media has its advantages and limitations. When developing my presentation I decided to use both verbal and written communication, although both communication methods were used I had to ensure that they were used in the correct quantities. To keep my presentation engaging I tried to use as much visual representation as possible limiting the amount of text per slide. I chose to use PowerPoint because of its combination of written and verbal communication (not to mention the cost effectiveness of choosing PowerPoint and simplistic interface); the written aspects included the text on the slides, screenshots and images. The screenshots proved particularly useful as they was of the actual database used in the daily running of the Apprenticeships Store, once paired with the demonstration of inputting data into the database it ensured greater understanding due to more practical learning as opposed to theoretical learning. More detail was provided in my handouts ensuring I didn t give too much information at once and this allowed the audience to document any supplementary information I said during the presentation, by speaking and interpreting what was on the slides ensured the presentation remained fluid and ... Ever since the new totalitarian government had been established after the civil war, ever since the loss of John s family, life has been a living hell. A pointless, monotonous, depressing, existence. Trying to cover his face, he walked at a steadfast pace, while simultaneously trying to cover up all of his body in hopes that nothing but garments are burned. John finally arrived at the grocery store after a couple of minutes of enduring the strong wind and acidic snow. After stepping in, he smelled of burnt leather and wool. John proceeded to check himself in a two way mirror usually used for shake downs and inspections, and he noticed that the outer layer of the back of his leather trench jacket was discolored from the acidic snow. He immediately saw some more snowflakes resting on his shoulders, slowly eating away at the leather; John wiped the snow off and consequently received slight burns to his hand. With the consist demand of reducing expenditures and increasing profit, businesses are needing to look at different ways to yield green on their bottom line. Many businesses are looking at e learningsystems to enhance employee training and engagement. E learning generally refers to the use of computer network technology, primarily over an intranet or through the Internet, to deliver information and instruction to individuals (Lee, Hsieh Chen, 2013). Does the high cost of electronic learning or virtual classrooms really hold up to the hype? E learning, or online learning, systems are becoming vital within the workforce today, and will continue to grow as technology advances; as a result, its success depends on how employers and human resources staff support their employees and the use of e learning systems. How a system is developed, implemented, and accepted will impact the overall success of any transition to an e learning system, and also whether or not learning goals are met by both the employer and employee. Development of an e learning training system does not happen at the flip of a switch. Take for instance Laura Hackett of MillerCoors University (Harris, 2015). Since she was so young when writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content of her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes theory says that the author and so his or her life should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Nevertheless in some stories, the traces of the author are so strong and important that they cannot be ignored when analysing the story. Therefore, this essay will examine the traces of Mary Shelley s biography in Frankenstein with reference to mother s death, different places... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shelley s stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only average education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and the comings and goings of such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house (Sparks 13). This might serve as an argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is also important for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with deep knowledge in this area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other characters. For example, Elizabeth is sad because she [has] not the same opportunities of enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the probable wish to speak other languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a language (Shelley 74 79). In conclusion, one can see that education played a key role in Shelley s life even if she was not allowed to take part in it as much as she would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Factors That Affect The Water Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in water. Mr. Redman states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that hinders that motion or is the force acting in opposition to the motion of an object. Parachutes are a great example of this force; when air is trapped in the nylon of a parachute, it creates dragslowing the velocity of the parachutist. Water drag is acted upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of the swimmers closely affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear tightly fitted swimsuits all to reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer also affect drag resistance. Water is 800 times denser than air, drag forces... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly pushes against the shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a force by adding large hoods or visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected. The back of the truck is built in a streamlined fashion, like a plane, to completely extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of drag is frictional forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels encounter friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and may become hot. This drag is common among cars and other ground transportation. Engineers have looked to the future to solve this drag. MAGLEV trains are levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion. This way friction drag is eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air resistance, MAGLEV trains incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to cut through air, that way the force of air is evenly distributed around the body. Drag also occurs in water called, fluid friction or fluid resistance. Boats, ships, subs, whales, dolphin, and swimmers all go through fluid rest incense. Much like air resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a object is moving. And again much like air resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag.
