Analysis Of Hannibal Lecter Mask
a) An allusion that appeared in Ryan Holiday s article is when he used Hannibal Lecter mask , to
describe how Trump is evil and bipolar (6). The best way to simplify the meaning of an allusion, is an
indirect quote towards a particular thing and person; however, also grasping the reference which gets
the point across. Since the author makes the comment of Hannibal Lecter the reader can make the
reference of the allusion that Trump is like the character of the movies which is a cannibal; therefore,
the author paints Trump as inhumane (Holiday 6).
b) When the author of Here s Why Smart People wrote they heard the mostly unearthly howling of
wolves in front of them... the men knew they were near he used pathos to affect the readers emotions
(Holiday 6). This is an example of pathos because the author is using the words unearthly to instill a
sense of fear which is what pathos is, using the readers emotions to invoke the reader to feel
something while reading.
c) An example of ethos being used in Holiday s article was when he used the examples of the cycles of
boom and bust, but specifically the one about Howard Dean s campaign in 2004. The campaign of
Dean was very successful because it had a lot of attention and enthusiasm, but in the end he finished
third (3). Ethos is how the author shows the ethics in his argument by showing the credibility of his
point of view with believable examples. In this case, since the argument of his ethos does backup on
his view that

`` Night `` By Elie Wiesel
Robert Shapiro, an American civil litigator once said, To me, the Holocaust stands alone as the most
horrible human event in modern civilization, The Holocaust, a genocide led by Adolf Hitler, killed six
million jews, and dramatically affected the whole world. The memoir Night, written by Elie Wiesel
describes the brutality Wiesel experienced during the Holocaust, and how life changing it was.
Although some may believe the memoir written by Elie Wiesel was titled Night because he was forced
to leave his home during the night, Wiesel illustrates Jews losing hope, faith, and happiness through
the symbol of Night, to prove that the memoir was titled Night to symbolize the darkness the
holocaust created. The first darkness that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wiesel then gave up, he figured there was no longer a chance that he could be saved which again led
to darkness. Is this example, the darkness the night brings symbolises loss of hope, and becoming
closer to death. Once Wiesel gave up trying, and claimed it was over, the light in his life got slightly
dimmer, and he became closer to death. The next reason Night was the title of the memoir written by
Wiesel was because the darkness in night symbolized death. Thousands of Jews were sentenced to
death each day, leaving everybody a little more hurt and broken. The first example of death, that helps
portray the title of Night, is in the quote, Was there a single place here where you were not in danger
of death? (Wiesel 37). In this quote, Wiesel shows how dangerous and recurrent death was and bases
the title off of these dangerous, mass killings. Darkness commonly symbolizes death, and the pain and
suffering one feels being exposed to it. The symbol also helps show that the killings were not normal,
they were darker like the night, more evil and inhumane than anything they had previously
experienced. The title Night, symbolizes the darkness during this painful event, and the darkness
universally symbolizes evil. So by using the title Night, Wiesel is able to indirectly explain how
inhumane these mass killings really are. Another quote that shows the title is used to symbolize

Triston Lab Report
Triton is the largest satellite that orbits the planet Neptune. The surface of Triton is riddled with
cryovolcanoes that emit volatiles such as water, ammonia, or methane, instead of the molten rock that
volcanoes on Earth emit. It has an atmospheric pressure of 14 μbar (1/70,000th of Earth s surface
pressure) and a gravitational constant of 0.779 m/s2. The average surface wind speeds are 5 15m/s,
and the average temperature is 35 K. T.R.A.C.E. was presented with the opportunity to design a

Ancient Greek Dancing
Throughout history, dancing has become a part of the world from many reasons. A specific date and
time could not distinguish when dancing became a part of the human race. Nevertheless, in history,
there were dissimilar paintings and carvings of movements, which depicted a form of dancing. In the
modern period, dancing is recognized for entertainment. In the ancient era, the Greeks believed in
having a great time and celebrating. They also enjoyed music and dance as their form of
entertainment. However, this paper will discuss information on dancing in the ancient era and how it
was vital for tradition, spiritual gatherings, and apart of social events.

Each event sometimes have a different dance or ritual. In the ancient Greek period, everyone had to
worship their god and obey what they say. If they were not obeyed, they would be punished. This
period was drastically different from the modern period. However, the modern period has adapted
several similar things. For instance, many people have specific dances for special occasions, such as
weddings. There are other dances for worship, such praise dancing in the modern time. There are also
dances in the modern time period for social celebrations. For example, graduations. When a family is
celebrating their graduation, most of the time there is music, family, and fun. They do certain line
dances that are either older or present of that time. This is what makes the modern period and ancient
period very similar, but different in many ways.
Nevertheless, the ancient Greek have many ways of doing things. They had their own way of
worshipping, celebrating, and mourning through dancing alone. From the beginning of the movements
that were painted on the carved items, allowed dance to lead a pathway to the ancient Greek who put
those movements into action. Although they had stipulations on the dances through gender, they still

Essay On Enron Fraud
A once massive communications company was brought to ruin by the mishandling of DIRECTORS,
OFFICERS, and the CEO. Between 1999 and 2002 the CEO Bernie Ebbers orchestrated over $9
billion worth of fraudulent accounting transactions. Surely all of this was not accomplished by just
one man, this took teams of people who were unwilling to question authority or stand up during times
of corporate wrong doing. Therefore, the information to follow will contain explanation of how this
fraud was committed and by whom, the reasoning behind the fraud, the consequences of their actions
for them and the corporation, and the final outcome for the corporation and those directors and
officers held accountable. According to the Report of Investigation by the special board of directors
for WorldCom the accounting fraud was a number of unsupported and false accounting entries. During
the investigation key witnesses were unavailable for questioning and accounting documentation was
either nonexistent or piled on the floor of the storage area. This type of disorganization made it merely
impossible to conduct any formal audit. Interestingly, the auditor in charge over the course of this
fraud was Arthur Andersen who also conducted audits for Enron another company corrupted by fraud.
Mr. Ebbers was indicated to be the main person in charge of the fraudulent accounting transactions.
Through the course of this artifice, there were several other employees and officers involved;

Raymond Carver Cathedral Summary
Different, when a person is describing a stranger that has some form of handicap the word different,
majority of the time will come up. There are many people in this world that get uncomfortable around
Different people and that s where the narrator of the Cathedral by Raymond Carver gets his ignorance
from. However, the hostility of the narrator stems from the relationship his wife has with the blind
man Robert. Robert may be the blind person in this story but the narrator is the one with limitations in
sight. Even though the narrator can physically see, he himself places limitations on what he can see,

Roberts sense of reality confuses the narrator because he could not understand how a blind man could
have such appreciation for the things he could not see. After a few drinks and a little marijuana, the
narrator finds himself exploring the limits of Roberts sight and helps Robert visualize a cathedral.
even though the narrator is beginning to be a little more comfortable with Robert he still cannot open
his mind up enough to be able to fully describe the cathedrals to him. He says, The truth is, cathedrals
don t mean anything special to me. Nothing. Cathedrals. They re something to look at on late night
TV. (page 45). It was then the true true lesson began; Robert went on to the floor next to the narrator
and they began to draw the cathedral together. Robert had the narrator close his eyes so he can try to
understand and visualize while drawing the cathedrals. The narrator was finally able to get out of his
own mind and stop being so critical of others and open up to the new possibilities of what he can learn
from others. In the end, with his eyes closed, not at all focused on what he has been drawing but rather
on something he can t comprehend, the narrator feels free I was in my house. I knew that. But I didn t
feel like I was inside anything. (page46). The narrator was no longer trapped and isolated in his own

Ever Heard The Saying, “Learn From Your Mistakes,” Or A
Ever heard the saying, Learn from your mistakes, or a different variation, such as when a parent or
guardian tells a child, I am trying to save you from repeating the mistakes I made, ? The root of this
timeless phrase lies in the ability of humans to make the same choices over and over across
generations. Through the analysis of historic events and ideals that are still causing a stir to this day,
such as Thomas Jefferson s deism, the Emoluments Clause in the United States Constitution, and The
Great Wave print, one can learn a great deal about the world in which he or she lives. The author of
the Declaration of Independence was Thomas Jefferson, who was a deist. Deism refers to the belief in

However, people continue to spread hateful messages against each other, certain that their side is
correct, and the division grows.
Another document from the origins of the United States that is coming to the political forefront since
the recent presidential election is the United States Constitution, specifically the Emoluments Clause.
The clause reads, No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding
any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any
present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State,
(Article I, Section 9, Clause 8). Emoluments, according to Merriam Webster, are, the returns arising
from office or employment usually in the form of compensation or perquisites, (Emolument). The
founding fathers put this clause into the Constitution very purposefully, because they wanted to protect
the integrity of the American political system. They had seen the way corruption could spread if the
leader of a country started working for a different nation s interests, and they did not want that to
happen in America.
Today, the debate is on for whether the founding fathers provision is being stretched to the breaking
point with current president, Donald Trump. The president is under

Great Apes Extinction
This article captured my attention because extinction is a major problem that occurs around the world
with the increase in carelessness of people. great apes are beloved animals that are integral to nature,
and the extinction of the great apes can be devastating to the balance of nature. Great apes are animals
that are not often thought to be extinct because they are such as well known species of animal, so the
fact that four out of six great apes are nearing extinction is a big problem. This article also captured
my attention because the title makes a very broad and serious claim. Saying that four out of six great
apes are one step towards extinction is very serious and makes it seem like the majority of the great
ape population will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There seemed to be a widespread decline in the Eastern Gorilla species, they moved from the
Endangered list to the Critically Endangered list. The rapid decline in the species of great apes had to
be due to a certain factor. In the investigation, researchers accounted for the loss of great apes, the
population decline was more than 70% in 20 years and now the population is fewer than 5,000. With
this data set, the researches were able to interpret the data and realize a rapid decrease in population.
Accounting for the reduction in population is the best way to asses the problem of the nearing
extinction. There currently are laws that are in place on the killing and capture of great apes. It is
illegal to hunt great apes but the main reason they are declining rapidly is due to hunting. This is also a
pattern found in the reduction of population of different animals such as the once widespread Plains
Zebra . The Plains Zebra have been reduced to 24% in the past 14 years and were only found in
protected areas. For this reason, researchers were led to believe the majority of the population loss
were in non protected areas where the animals were hunted for bushmeat and

...thirteen powerful, independent, disunited States are in the habit off...refusing to obey our national
Congress...I pray that we can act in time to prevent the bad things we fear may happen. George
Washington wrote this in a letter to John Jay (Doc 3). Even the man who is immediately thought of
when talking about the start of our nation thought that without a new set of guidelines to run our
country by, the young country would eventually break apart and the fighting of the higher powers
would begin again. The reasons George thought this way was because of how week the Articles of
Confederation actually were, also because all the different foreign problems that the country as a

....the insults that are made against America in every court in Europe. View these things, fellow
citizens, and then say that we do not require a new, a protecting, and efficient federal nation
government if you can. (Doc. 1). The American Revolution had left the United States in debt to many
different Europe countries, and since the Articles of Confederation did not allow the United States
government to tax the states it was very hard for the United States to pay those debts back. So, to keep
the credit of the United States high the debt was needed to be paid back quickly and also so that the
U.S. could be trusted as good allies, a solution was needed. The solution that was decided on was to
form a new document of guidelines for the new country and a new strong central government to tax
the states, and citizens and not have the states be nearly their own country but rather a whole unified
country. The Constitution is a proposal as big as a change as the document which separated us from
Great Britain. (Doc. 4). The new proposal of the United States Constitution came as a big to surprise
to many people about how big of a change the new document actually was, but a big change is exactly
what the country needed to solve some of the very important problems if faced. Since the country was
in such a major debt and had no way to pay it back, things were only going to get worse, the debt we
still owed to Spain had left them still controlling land

How would you feel if you went into a business, to fill out an application for a job, and had to leave

your address, but did not feel like you could call this place home? Maybe you would have feelings of
being alone, not loved, or not even cared about.

I strongly disagree and believe that if someone cannot consider their house a home, it has a lot to do
with the attitudes of those living in it. I also believe that a house is the place where most teenagers
remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their own house. On the
other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a
loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to feel this way because as they
grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very self centered or selfish. These
feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin progressing into adulthood. If a
teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family and they begin to change their ways,
while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the cause of a bad event that left them lonely
and in the dark. This event could have been something along the lines of tough love from family
members which caused this person to look back on events they regretted from the past and helped
them to look forward to changing these actions for a better future. Many of my friends complain about
not being happy at home and how much they just cannot wait to move out of the house. When I hear
them complaining about this, the first thing that comes to my mind is, igrave; How do you expect

Diary 1-Personal Narrative
Diary 1
My heart was beating. Pounding right out of my chest. After, 5 tireless months of meticulous crafting
and hundreds of hours of practice, it was finally the day to present our masterpiece. Every weekend
spent at my friend s basement drafting scripts and painting backdrops. Every school day spent
discussing new ideas for the play. Along with becoming insane about recyclable materials and art
supplies, we grew as a family. We are a strong sisterhood that have laughed together and cried
together, and together we are ready to show the world what we have accomplished. I woke up bright
and early that fine morning, eager to step out onto the competition floor. My head in the clouds,

characters and their world seems to appeal to the audience. The judges occasionally chuckled and so
did the audience. And finally when the skit was complete we walked off stage with our chins high, for
we had managed to stay in the time limit and no one forgot their lines. We were proud of all the work
we did and were relieved that it was over
Following our jaw dropping performance was the Team B s time to go. We had to watch it. So after
quickly dropping our props back into the holding room we dashed back to the competition site to

How Important Is America Today
What I gathered from personal opinion from the statement was, America today is broken in many
different aspects. Let me elaborate on that. I feel that the way the world is today is corrupted by our
media and extra pleasures we feel are necessary for our everyday lives. Men and women today are in
disarray because of the upbringing they have had. I am not speaking on all accounts, just views I have.
Like I will point out dreams. Dreams people have today get thrown away on a daily. There should be
more authors out here, but the excuse I have to work. Gets in the way. When this was written it could
be in a totally different time of America. But the thing is the world is not that bad. I do have views and
feelings about it, I also do not agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sad enough it has not done any of that. What it has done is let racism blossom. We all know what
terrorism is, but we blind it by pointing the finger at random people. Terrorism is something created in
people s heads. What it is doing today is just letting racist people, jokes, and ideas float about. To the
world terrorism is no problem. It s a topic of choice. People love to talk about as much as the
Kardashians, if not more. The media and people who feed into the ignorant garden of media crap.
They created terrorism! The people who decide what country is bad? They created terrorism. So it s
fine if we go kill all the kids in Baghdad? But if they try to escape a terrible environment we should
shun them like the demons they are? I am not standing up for terrorism by any means, but Let he who
is without sin cast the first stone. . If you look back at America s history, we had a bag full of stones.
Now we are refilling that bag. By recreating terror in our own home. Just like racism. We can forget
when celebrities do something. You can forget about a dead family member. The one thing you can not
take out and forget is the hate for someone that began hundreds of years ago? Also, you can not blame
a whole country for something a few people did. Before the wars did you even know anything about
Baghdad? Please tell me. No one did. Why? Because the media hid everything they were doing. When
9/11 happened Baghdad appeared as extremists. Look back a couple of years and really dig. You will
love to find out who started these wars. I love our nation, I love America. On the other hand, we are
disgusting. We blame everyone else for things we have done to ourselves. So no I don t think all of

My Experience At A Catholic Wedding
Have you ever felt so out of place at an event? This is how I felt when attending a friend s Catholic
wedding. I have attended many weddings; on the other hand, this was completely different than the
standard wedding I imagined. The setting of the church, the discipline the Catholics have with their
religion, and the wedding ceremony was nothing I imagined when being invited to this wedding.
September 23 has always been a day I marked on my calendar every year. This was my wife s and I
anniversary; however, this year I had it marked down for a different event. This was the day a friend
from my previous work was getting married. We discussed his Catholic belief a few times at work;
consequently, when it was time for lent. As a result, I would pick on him for eating meat when he was
not aloud, but that was all I really knew about the religion. The night before the big day I called him,
because not knowing much about the Catholic wedding, I did not know what to wear. I did not know if
I had to wear a suit or if I could wear khakis and a polo shirt. So, he told me khakis would work with a
nice dress shirt. When Saturday came, I did not know I would feel confused or fell as out of place as I
did. However, on the way to the church I figured this would be the typical wedding, where they would
say their vows and the preacher would say you may kiss the bride , then I could make it home to
watch the end of the buckeye s game. Nevertheless, this is not how the wedding would go.

A Study on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) radically transforms the therapeutic process and relationship.
As the name suggests, solution focused brief therapy is about being brief and focusing on solutions,
rather than on problems, ( About Solution Focused Brief Therapy, n.d.). Instead of drawn out and
costly sessions with therapists, the client receives highly focused therapeutic intervals that do not
delve into the past other than what is absolutely necessary. Only three to five sessions are generally
warranted for solution focused brief therapy (Iveson, 2002). The underlying principle of being
solution focused is that therapy should be proactive. The Solution Focused Brief Therapy Association
(n.d.) claims, so much time and energy, as well as many resources, are spent on talking about
problems, rather than thinking about what might help us to get to solutions that would bring on
realistic, reasonable relief as quickly as possible. In fact, during the intake interview, the client might
not even be asked about what the problem is, in order to keep the therapy focused exclusively on the
solution or what is envisioned as positive outcomes (Iveson, 2002, p. 149). The purpose is to get the
client to think immediately and critically about goals and how to achieve them. All that clients need is
to want something different even if at the starting point they do not think that something different is
possible, (Iveson, 2002, p. 149).

Duality In Oku s Use Of Language
One common emblem of duality throughout the novel has been the use of language. As a culturally
diverse city, there are various forms in which English is spoken, from street slang to native accents. A
particular example includes the way that Jamal spoke to Carla after his arrest. Carla mentions that he
has different ways of speaking and this was the least pleasing to her. Another such instance if this
emblem occurs when Oku attempts to apologize to Jackie for calling her German boyfriend, Reiner, a
Nazi boy (Brand 48). Jackie responds to Oku s implicit affection with a passage about his innocence
without any curse words. Oku is quite shocked to find that Jackie hadn t used profanity throughout
this statement. Later on in the novel, we also realize that Tuyen and Binh have grown up to prefer their

Southern White Supremacy and Black Civil Rights 1863-1877...
Having endured the brutality of slavery and the uncertainty of war, America s blacks enjoyed a period
of relative respite during the years 1863 1877. With slavery abolished, the South underwent
reconstruction within every component of its unsteady structure. However, one must measure the
success of this reconstruction with the criteria of political, social and economic changes in mind. The
amendments of the 1860s gave blacks greater political freedom, but were only upheld by the military
force of the Northern army; blacks developed their first education and religious institutions, but only
within a segregated framework; and economically, the black population worked long, hard hours

During the Reconstruction years of 1863 65, a considerable proportion of blacks occupied several
Deep South governments. In Louisiana, for example, African Americans made up 42% of the lower
and 19% of the upper houses. However, these numbers do not accurately reflect the influence wielded
by blacks in this period. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no black
whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that this
progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks were
subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the blacks found
that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white counterparts. This was a
matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by experience, of which the blacks
had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were operating in an environment that
was far from equal. Thus, one can see that although blacks made considerable progress into politics,
their development was cut short by white activity. Unequal influence inside and violence outside
government ensured that the African American politicians were prevented from working effectively
even in their limited posts. However, the fact that these people even had the remote chance of

him/her. How the Manager can get the things done effectively and efficiently is an important problem
that should be researched. Robert Tannenbaum and Warren H. Schmidt (1958, 1973), who argued that
the style of leadership is dependent upon the prevailing circumstance, therefore leaders should
exercise a range of management styles and deploy them as appropriate. In fact, a management style is

Apart from culture and law, different business customs also can influence management styles.
Business custom is part of a nation s culture. It has been formed in a long time, maybe several
decades, several countries, or even thousands years such as China and Japan. The custom includes
how to manage enterprise, how to treat customers, how to get along with leaders and subordinates.
Different countries and economic systems have different answers and standards. For example, in
China, face issue is important for individuals in traditional custom. And appreciation or
encouragements should be made before any criticism. If managers point out employees mistake in
front of other workers directly, the employee might feel ashamed and reluctant to cooperate with the
manager in future, which surely will bring barriers to management. There are also various customs in
different regions, management styles are also changing according to such differences.
I would like to take Japan and the US as examples to discuss how these key factors, culture, policy,
and customs influence management styles in specific circumstances. Obviously, Japan and the US
display an obvious contrast in the aspect of culture, society and ideology, etc. I would like to discuss
the features of Japan and the US at first.
First of all, the US is a nation with a large number of immigrants, which determines that its national
culture is identified with individualism. As is known to all, the US is

Alcatraz From Inside By Jim Quillen
In 1934 America opened one of the most secured Federal Prisons, Alcatraz. Located on an island in
San Francisco, California, inmates that were considered the most dangerous were transferred here to
complete their sentence. Alcatraz from Inside is an autobiography by Jim Quillen that focuses on his
experiences while imprisoned in Alcatraz including his perspective of the well known Battle of
Alcatraz . Jim Quillen was born in San Francisco, California in 1919. Quillen was transferred to
Alcatraz in 1942 released in 1952 and is now a writer expressing his personal feelings of Alcatraz.

To his knowledge he was the youngest one there at the time. Quillen immediately saw how harsh the
conditions were at Alcatraz. Quillen initially approached this jail the way he did with other things in
life and that was to look for the fastest way out. Quillen and others did try to escape but failed.
Throughout the time Quillen was in prison he witnessed one of the most intense attempted escapes
that occurred in Alcatraz history. It was known to the public that there were a total a six participants,
but according to Quillen there were only five involved directly in this incident. In 1946 one afternoon
participant one Bernard Coy was able to break into the Gun Gallery, this initiated the incident. Coy
had a plan to escape along with two other inmates, Marvin F. Hubbard and Joseph P. Cretzer. Coy and
Cretzer were able to get a hold of a rifle and a pistol in their hand. At this point the officers called for
backup now involving the U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy gunboats. When Coy and Cretzer felt no way out
they tried hiding in a dark and small tunnel. This was where officials saw the opportunity to enter the
corridor shooting them down without hurting any other inmate. After over thirty six hours later three
officials came in the corridor to find Coys , Cretzers and Hubbard s bodies with multiple gunshots.
Even though three other inmates went along with this they were not directly involved. Not only were

Amaterasu s Downfall
How Japan Ceased to Revolve Around the Sun Shintoism has deep roots in both the culture and
government of Japan; it EDIT. The goddess Amaterasu is a major part of Shinto lore, and, some would
argue, the Japanese government. However, Amaterasu had as much of a role in the governing body as
the Japanese Emperor himself did very little. Her influence extended only as far as the duties allotted
to the Emperor, who, since the conception of his position, has been merely a figurehead. At certain
points, even the emperors themselves did not support Amaterasu, and abandoned Shintoism altogether.
After a brief renaissance during the Meiji period, the Emperor, and in effect, Amaterasu went back to a
rule based only in pageantry and ceremonial charge. [source 1]

Buddhist priests were forced out of their shrines if they refused to convert, and shunned by the
religious community. Buddhist temple land was seized by the government, and temples were burned
to the ground. Government officials also began to worry about the presence of Christianity in Japan,
fearing it would gain strength. Acting swiftly, on May 15th, 1868, the government issued an order to
all clans saying:
During the recent revival of Imperial rule, Christianity has begun to spread again and is likely to do
great harm to the state. We cannot allow this to continue. Bring the leaders together and explain to
them the error of their ways. If they repent, destroy all Christian books and images and have them
swear alligience before the Shinto Kami. If they refuse to repent, we have no recourse other than to
behead a number of the leaders, expose the heads, and to exile the rest to enforced labor in other clans.
After a number of years, when they have lost every trace of their faith and when they have manifested
complete repentance, they may go home.[source

How Kings First Rule The People If Israel After The Period...
In this essay, I will discuss how kings first come to rule the people if Israel after the period of the
judges. I will examine the reign of each of the three kings. I will explain in detail how their kingdoms
enjoyed prosperity when they were obedient to God but how their kingdoms collapsed when they
turned from God. Although the prophet Samuel warned the people of Israel against the evils of
kingship, the people of Israel did not heed his warnings. Ultimately, in 931 B.C. the rule of the kings
of the united Israel would end in the division of the kingdom.
How did kings come to rule Israel? We are told that during the time of Samuel, the people of Israel
really wanted a king. All of the nations around Israel had a king, a man to lead them into battle. As
Samuel grew old, he made his sons Joel and Abijah judges. However, Samuel s sons did not exhibit
the same Godly behavior that their father displayed. Instead, Samuel s sons turned aside after
dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice . (1 Samuel 8:3 NIV) Due to the actions of
Samuel s sons and Israel s desire to be like the other nations, they requested a human king, effectively
rejecting God s kingship over them and ending the time of the judges. Samuel explains the evils of
kingship to the people of Israel, but to no avail. Israel s heart is set on an earthly king. The choice for
the first king was Saul.
However, why was Saul chosen, and, ultimately, why was he rejected? The book The Essence of the

Medieval Kings Compare And Contrast
The comparison and contrast of medieval kings demonstrates how they evolved and struggled as the
kings of this time period. It starts off with the destruction of Rome. Due to factors such as famine,
economics, barbarians attacks, and the Black Death, Rome was destroyed. Rome became the perfect
ideal of the time. The kings throughout the middle ages would try to recreate Rome, but they never got
back to the perfect city they imagined it to be. That being said, most of the kings learned from the
kings prior to them and advanced towards a society that was more like Rome. Religion was a huge
contrast point between kings of this time. For example, Charlemagne reformed religion in his society
during his kingship. It was stated that, He(Charlemagne) cherished with the greatest fervor and
devotion the principles of the Christian religion, which had been instilled into him from infancy
(Geary, 276). Religion was an important aspect of Charlemagne s life. He realized that French and
Latin were not the same, and the Bible they were reading was not the same as the Latin version. In
fear that they were practicing Christianity wrong, he brought in monks to correct the bibles and teach
people how to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a huge change from prior kings and the churches. Previously, only those in power and monks
could read and write. This provided leverage over society. The king could twist what the Bible said or
even change the passages completely in order to get people to listen or convert to Christianity. The
public being able to read the Bible meant that the Bible and God could no longer be used a threat to
rule people. When no one was able to read, they did not know what the Bible said and had to believe
the king. People were threatened of not being able to go to Heaven if they did something that God said
was wrong . Charlemagne also appointed the Pope and was very humble about his

Duke s Character In Rigoletto Essay
A huge shift has taken place from Act I to Act II as we see the tone develop through following the
development of the Duke s character in Rigoletto. However, the contradictions and differences
revealed between these arias do not negate the similarities in each aria. Each aria serves a purpose and
has revealed unforeseen depths of feeling. These Acts work together to convey the Duke as a complex
character. Even with the Duke s drastic change in character in Act II, we still see resemblance of the
Duke as the same person from Act I throughout Rigoletto. Compare Act I, where the Duke declares
that this woman or that is the same as the many others [he] see around [him] (I.1) with Act II where
the Duke exclaims, She was stolen from me (II, 89). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is a brief physical attraction but then she is useless. In Act II, the passage reveals the Duke s
manner as more caring and protective. He sees Gilda as a prized object to keep and possess. The fact
that she was stolen from him indicates a tone of possessiveness. While the Duke seems to understand
Gilda better by seeing her individual characteristics, in both situations he still objectifies women.
These arias also relate because in both, the Duke is not aware of his lies and contradictions. In the first
arias, the Duke very confidently expresses how he feels about women, declaring, If today this woman
pleases me, perhaps tomorrow it will be another. Fidelity...we detest like a cruel disease (I.1). The
Duke s language is direct and confident without any doubt giving off a composed and collected spirit.
He believes in what he says because his actions after his speech coincide with his words as he moves
from woman to woman. In the Act II, the Duke enters in the back when he begins his soliloquy saying,

Sacrifice In The Metamorphosis
For our interactive oral, our group discussed how issues from The Metamorphosis related to our own
culture and experience, and the extent to which social and cultural context aided in our understanding
of the novella.
I presented three aspects of the novella which I felt connected to current life: family difficulties,
dehumanization through work, and alienation. In the story, Gregor s relationship with his parents
proves to be conflicting. Gregor feels pressured to be successful in his grueling profession to support
his family. Although he sacrifices his livelihood to do so, his efforts are unappreciated and leave him
feeling worthless. As adolescents, pressure from parents to be successful is common. Many young
adults end up choosing careers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

previously stated, that Gregor is not yet ready to become the savior of his family. Meanwhile, Kafka s
portrayal of Gregor reflects everything that is flawed with the Samsa family, who, ironically leach off
his work like vermin. This metamorphosis marks the beginning of Gregor s ultimate sacrifice, as well

The Effects Of Swimming Pools On Outdoor Sports
Introduction.
A swimming pool is an artificially enclosed body of water that is used for either leisure pursuits or to
be enjoyed and utilised in aquatic sports. Pools range from all shapes and sizes and also varied use, for
example, they could be private, public and competitive. Swimming pools are also built either above or
below ground varying in the material they are built with, whether it is concrete, metal, fibreglass and
or plastic.
The key to operating a pool is keeping it clean and chemically safe for use. To ensure this you must
invest and commonly use measures of keeping your pool chemically stable. Chlorine is the most
primary sanitiser to control algae, bacteria and pathogens. However, there are other alternative

Some pools also include heaters in order to keep the pool water at a certain temperature, which could
have and affect on its pH levels and chemical reaction within the water.
We ve already seen that the water in a swimming pool needs to circulate through a filtering system, to
remove dirt and debris. During normal operation, water flows to the filtering system through two or
more main drains at the bottom of the pool and multiple skimmer drains around the top of the pool. 1
Normal Drainage Structure of a Pool
The main drains are usually located on the lowest point in the pool, so the entire pool surface slants
toward them. Most of the dirt and debris that sinks exits the pool through these drains. To keep people
from getting their hair or limbs caught in the plumbing, the drains are almost always covered with
grates or anti vortex cover (a cover that diverts the flow of water to prevent a dangerous vortex from
forming). The duties an operator of an aquatic facility has in relation to chemical parameters and
frequency of testing were defined as being:
To control the pH levels within a swimming and spa pool when chlorine is used
To ensure the levels of free, combined and total chlorine are maintained to adequate levels
To ensure that the testing for free, total and combined chlorine are undertaken to the required levels.
To ensure a safe pool, tests must be conducted to understand

Why is English considered as a sexist language? There are various reasons why English is still
considered as a sexist language. One of the major reasons is because of the connotation. The word
engineer can be applied to both sexes, male and female. However, people habitually apply the word
engineer only with male because of its connotation. Consequently, when referring to a woman, you
have to add the word female before engineer. Also in the English language, there are many words that
are evidently male oriented such as, congressman and mailman. Moreover, some nouns of feminine
gender can only be obtained by adding a suffix to masculine gendered nouns such as, prince and
princess and steward and stewardess. Not only because of sexism in words, but sexism in proverbs
also suggest English as a patriarchal language. The proverb, a woman is like a lemon; you squeeze her
and throw her away, certainly shows disrespectfulness and discriminates women in a very insulting
manner. Males and females make different choices with regard to their college

Descriptive Essay On My Summer Camp
My First Summer Camp
It was the last day of my first summer camp. The night before my Boy Scout troop would pack all
their gear and leaves the coast of the Puget Sound, and return to the suburbs where most of the kids in
my troop lived. This day, at least at Camp Parsons, was the Hullabaloo. The Hullabaloo was a great
gathering of all the patrols at camp in a large grass covered area bordering a beach and then the Puget
Sound. The whole area was dotted with green trees and was overlooked by a very large cabin like
building, which acted as the meal room for all the troops in camp. The cabin like building was a dark
brown, built on the outside with logs, but on the inside a sort of insulated faux log. The inside was
very spacious and lined up along the walls were about 50 long tables for the various troops at camp.
Even in this large room, there wasn t always enough space to fit the scouts from all the troops, so it
was safe to say that my patrol had a lot of competition. All the patrols would compete for a trophy (a
carved block of wood, painted yellow and with the purple letters CP stating: FIRST PLACE). Each
troop usually has more than one patrol, each patrol being about 5 10 people, so my troop (of around 25
people) had two. When we were all let loose from the cabin like meal house to compete in various
team building activities and compete in stations set around the camp (stations such as fire starting,
tying knots, and building shelters), my patrol started sprinting over

Paper on Patents
PATENT THE AUTOCRAT
The very utterance of the word patent frightens us with the sheer complexity and wordplay it can
subsume us with. Here is an attempt to demystify patents and the world of legal wrangling. As the
lexicon definition goes, it is the exclusive right granted by a government to an inventor to
manufacture, or sell an invention for a certain number of years . However, over the years, as patents
and workarounds have evolved, companies have gone out of their ways to exercise monopoly over
innovation and prevent competition from innovating in a related area of research and development.
In the US, the International Trade Commission is the disinterested body which oversees trade and
takes a final call over unfair trade practices. All patents have to go through a process of prosecution
before being approved and pursued in a commercial setting. Patents are also governed by the purview
of jurisdiction. In such a scenario, what may apply in The United States of America need not hold true
in the United Kingdom.
With that being said, patents have changed to become entities which prevent other people from doing .
In other words, patents have regressed from being a mechanism to safeguard innovation to an
instrument to cartel against opposition. As far as patents in the world of computers go, there are only
hardware patents. There is no such thing as a software patent . Additional cause for concern is the fact
that the boundaries between software and hardware are

Criticism Of The Dead By Margot Norris
Margot Norris criticism is about the silencing of women, I used this one because it helps with that
point of view I want to back up in my own essay as well. Norris argues that the silencing of women in
The Dead proves to make the feminist criticism stronger. She describes in depth the characters that are
silenced and the ways that they are silenced and her view of on the feminist end of things. She
supports that these women are silenced and makes a strong argument about it. But, overall, she says
we read the novel as we choose to. Some readers may see it as different and some may not. I used two
other dissertations as sources because I wanted to get someone from the educational point of view, a
criticism of someone that is similar to mine and talking about this subject as well. I spared them

The probate process varies a little from state to state, but is essentially the legal process that all states
follow to determine what happens to someone s estate whether or not they have a will when they pass
away.
What Is The First Step Of The Probate Process?
Since your loved one passed away without a will, the local probate court where your loved one resided
will assign someone to be what is commonly known as the administrator or personal representative for
your loved one s estate.
The court generally picks someone who would natural inherit the estate. For example, if your husband
died, you would likely be appointed the administrator. Or if your uncle died, was unmarried and had
no children, either his parents, siblings or nieces or nephews would be put in charge of his estate,
generally in that order.
What Happens After An Administrator Is Appointed?
Once an administrator is appointed, they have multiple duties that they have to fulfill. To start with,
they have to go through and figure out what outstanding expenses the deceased had, such as loans and
unpaid bills. These are the first things that any money they left will go towards

  • 2. Analysis Of Hannibal Lecter Mask a) An allusion that appeared in Ryan Holiday s article is when he used Hannibal Lecter mask , to describe how Trump is evil and bipolar (6). The best way to simplify the meaning of an allusion, is an indirect quote towards a particular thing and person; however, also grasping the reference which gets the point across. Since the author makes the comment of Hannibal Lecter the reader can make the reference of the allusion that Trump is like the character of the movies which is a cannibal; therefore, the author paints Trump as inhumane (Holiday 6). b) When the author of Here s Why Smart People wrote they heard the mostly unearthly howling of wolves in front of them... the men knew they were near he used pathos to affect the readers emotions (Holiday 6). This is an example of pathos because the author is using the words unearthly to instill a sense of fear which is what pathos is, using the readers emotions to invoke the reader to feel something while reading. c) An example of ethos being used in Holiday s article was when he used the examples of the cycles of boom and bust, but specifically the one about Howard Dean s campaign in 2004. The campaign of Dean was very successful because it had a lot of attention and enthusiasm, but in the end he finished third (3). The memoir Night, written by Elie Wiesel describes the brutality Wiesel experienced during the Holocaust, and how life changing it was. Although some may believe the memoir written by Elie Wiesel was titled Night because he was forced to leave his home during the night, Wiesel illustrates Jews losing hope, faith, and happiness through the symbol of Night, to prove that the memoir was titled Night to symbolize the darkness the holocaust created. The first darkness that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wiesel then gave up, he figured there was no longer a chance that he could be saved which again led to darkness. Is this example, the darkness the night brings symbolises loss of hope, and becoming closer to death. Once Wiesel gave up trying, and claimed it was over, the light in his life got slightly dimmer, and he became closer to death. The next reason Night was the title of the memoir written by Wiesel was because the darkness in night symbolized death. Thousands of Jews were sentenced to death each day, leaving everybody a little more hurt and broken. The first example of death, that helps portray the title of Night, is in the quote, Was there a single place here where you were not in danger of death? (Wiesel 37). In this quote, Wiesel shows how dangerous and recurrent death was and bases the title off of these dangerous, mass killings. Darkness commonly symbolizes death, and the pain and suffering one feels being exposed to it. The symbol also helps show that the killings were not normal, they were darker like the night, more evil and inhumane than anything they had previously experienced. The title Night, symbolizes the darkness during this painful event, and the darkness universally symbolizes evil. So by using the title Night, Wiesel is able to indirectly explain how inhumane these mass killings really are. Another quote that shows the title is used to symbolize ... • 7. Essay On Enron Fraud A once massive communications company was brought to ruin by the mishandling of DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, and the CEO. Between 1999 and 2002 the CEO Bernie Ebbers orchestrated over $9 billion worth of fraudulent accounting transactions. Surely all of this was not accomplished by just one man, this took teams of people who were unwilling to question authority or stand up during times of corporate wrong doing. Therefore, the information to follow will contain explanation of how this fraud was committed and by whom, the reasoning behind the fraud, the consequences of their actions for them and the corporation, and the final outcome for the corporation and those directors and officers held accountable. According to the Report of Investigation by the special board of directors for WorldCom the accounting fraud was a number of unsupported and false accounting entries. During the investigation key witnesses were unavailable for questioning and accounting documentation was either nonexistent or piled on the floor of the storage area. This type of disorganization made it merely impossible to conduct any formal audit. Interestingly, the auditor in charge over the course of this fraud was Arthur Andersen who also conducted audits for Enron another company corrupted by fraud. On the other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Instead of drawn out and costly sessions with therapists, the client receives highly focused therapeutic intervals that do not delve into the past other than what is absolutely necessary. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no black whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that this progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks were subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the blacks found that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white counterparts. This was a matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by experience, of which the blacks had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were operating in an environment that was far from equal. • 22. How Kings First Rule The People If Israel After The Period... In this essay, I will discuss how kings first come to rule the people if Israel after the period of the judges. I will examine the reign of each of the three kings. I will explain in detail how their kingdoms enjoyed prosperity when they were obedient to God but how their kingdoms collapsed when they turned from God. Although the prophet Samuel warned the people of Israel against the evils of kingship, the people of Israel did not heed his warnings. Ultimately, in 931 B.C. the rule of the kings of the united Israel would end in the division of the kingdom. How did kings come to rule Israel? We are told that during the time of Samuel, the people of Israel really wanted a king. All of the nations around Israel had a king, a man to lead them into battle. As Samuel grew old, he made his sons Joel and Abijah judges. However, Samuel s sons did not exhibit the same Godly behavior that their father displayed. Instead, Samuel s sons turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice . (1 Samuel 8:3 NIV) Due to the actions of Samuel s sons and Israel s desire to be like the other nations, they requested a human king, effectively rejecting God s kingship over them and ending the time of the judges. • 23. Medieval Kings Compare And Contrast The comparison and contrast of medieval kings demonstrates how they evolved and struggled as the kings of this time period. It starts off with the destruction of Rome. Due to factors such as famine, economics, barbarians attacks, and the Black Death, Rome was destroyed. Rome became the perfect ideal of the time. The kings throughout the middle ages would try to recreate Rome, but they never got back to the perfect city they imagined it to be. That being said, most of the kings learned from the kings prior to them and advanced towards a society that was more like Rome. Religion was a huge contrast point between kings of this time. For example, Charlemagne reformed religion in his society during his kingship. It was stated that, He(Charlemagne) cherished with the greatest fervor and devotion the principles of the Christian religion, which had been instilled into him from infancy (Geary, 276). Religion was an important aspect of Charlemagne s life. He realized that French and Latin were not the same, and the Bible they were reading was not the same as the Latin version. However, the contradictions and differences revealed between these arias do not negate the similarities in each aria. Each aria serves a purpose and has revealed unforeseen depths of feeling. These Acts work together to convey the Duke as a complex character. Even with the Duke s drastic change in character in Act II, we still see resemblance of the Duke as the same person from Act I throughout Rigoletto. He sees Gilda as a prized object to keep and possess. The fact that she was stolen from him indicates a tone of possessiveness. While the Duke seems to understand Gilda better by seeing her individual characteristics, in both situations he still objectifies women. These arias also relate because in both, the Duke is not aware of his lies and contradictions. In the first arias, the Duke very confidently expresses how he feels about women, declaring, If today this woman pleases me, perhaps tomorrow it will be another. Fidelity...we detest like a cruel disease (I.1). The Duke s language is direct and confident without any doubt giving off a composed and collected spirit. He believes in what he says because his actions after his speech coincide with his words as he moves from woman to woman. • 32. Descriptive Essay On My Summer Camp My First Summer Camp It was the last day of my first summer camp. The night before my Boy Scout troop would pack all their gear and leaves the coast of the Puget Sound, and return to the suburbs where most of the kids in my troop lived. This day, at least at Camp Parsons, was the Hullabaloo. The Hullabaloo was a great gathering of all the patrols at camp in a large grass covered area bordering a beach and then the Puget Sound. The whole area was dotted with green trees and was overlooked by a very large cabin like building, which acted as the meal room for all the troops in camp. The cabin like building was a dark brown, built on the outside with logs, but on the inside a sort of insulated faux log. The inside was very spacious and lined up along the walls were about 50 long tables for the various troops at camp. Even in this large room, there wasn t always enough space to fit the scouts from all the troops, so it was safe to say that my patrol had a lot of competition. All the patrols would compete for a trophy (a carved block of wood, painted yellow and with the purple letters CP stating: FIRST PLACE). Each troop usually has more than one patrol, each patrol being about 5 10 people, so my troop (of around 25 people) had two. • 33. Paper on Patents PATENT THE AUTOCRAT The very utterance of the word patent frightens us with the sheer complexity and wordplay it can subsume us with. Here is an attempt to demystify patents and the world of legal wrangling. As the lexicon definition goes, it is the exclusive right granted by a government to an inventor to manufacture, or sell an invention for a certain number of years . However, over the years, as patents and workarounds have evolved, companies have gone out of their ways to exercise monopoly over innovation and prevent competition from innovating in a related area of research and development. In the US, the International Trade Commission is the disinterested body which oversees trade and takes a final call over unfair trade practices. All patents have to go through a process of prosecution before being approved and pursued in a commercial setting. Patents are also governed by the purview of jurisdiction. In such a scenario, what may apply in The United States of America need not hold true in the United Kingdom. With that being said, patents have changed to become entities which prevent other people from doing . In other words, patents have regressed from being a mechanism to safeguard innovation to an instrument to cartel against opposition. As far as patents in the world of computers go, there are only hardware patents. There is no such thing as a software patent . She describes in depth the characters that are silenced and the ways that they are silenced and her view of on the feminist end of things. She supports that these women are silenced and makes a strong argument about it. But, overall, she says we read the novel as we choose to. Some readers may see it as different and some may not. How the background of what I m trying to convey is important. How Joyce saw women and how that was bled into Gabriel s character.
