Overview Of The Balanced Scorecard
1. Overview of the Balanced Scorecard Organisations, in order to increase performance, profitability,
efficiency and to gain a competitive advantage, will benefit from a good strategic performance
measurement system to ensure that lower level managers are acting in a way that is consistent with top
managers goals and whole organisation s strategy. One the dominant system is the balanced scorecard
framework (Hill, Jones Schilling, 2015, p.376). The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is defined as a tool
that translates an organisation s mission, objectives and strategies into performance measures. It is
used to implement strategy and to monitor and manage performance, and may form part of the
organisation s planning cycle (Smith et al, 2015, p.621). The BSC allows managers to look at an
organisation from four important perspectives, financial, customer, internal business, and employee
learning and growth, which are critical for running the organisation and creating value (Smith et al,
2015, p.621). The BSC performance measurement system delivers the following benefits, it:
Transforms organisation s strategy into operations Brings into line everyone day to day work in
organisation to strategy Synthesis financial and non financial reporting Indicates and focuses on
important objectives and its measures Concentrates on organisation s strategy and critical success
factors Enhances communication within organisation and provides wider organisation s vision

Paracetamol Synthesis and Uses Essay
Paracetamol Synthesis and Uses Discovered in 1877 by Harmon Northrop Morse at the John Hopkins
University, Paracetamol was one of several aniline deriviatives that was found to have analgesic and
antipyretic properties (Brodie 23). It was first synthesized by the reduction of p nitrophenol with tin in
glacial acetic acid; however was not used classified as a medication until ten year later (Bertolini 264).
Initially, phenacetin, a closely related compound that exhibited similar physiological effects, became
the popular over the counter drug for headaches (Bertolini 251). However, later research by Brodie
and Axelrod in 1949 found that phenacetin was in fact metabolized into paracetamol within the body
(Brodie and Axelrod 60). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction where a hydrogen on the aromatic ring is
replaced with a nitro group. The hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring is an electron donating group
and therefore serves as an ortho para director. Through the nitration reaction, two products are formed:
o nitrophenol and p nitrophenol. In comparing the stability of the two resulting products, o nitrophenol
is less stable due to steric hinderance and proximity of the hydroxyl and nitro group to one another. On
the other hand, p nitrophenol does not experience the same steric hinderance since the two group as on
opposite sides of the aromatic ring and therefore do not interfere with one another. As a result, p
nitrophenol is the major product of reaction. It is also the product of interest and will be involved in
the next step of the synthesis.
Subsequently, p nitrophenol is reduced by sodium borohydride to give 4 aminophenol. In an industrial
synthesis, hydrogenation is used for reduction instead of sodium borohydride to produce an identical
product(Travis 764). The use of hydrogenation is more efficient when produce larger quantities. In the
last step of the synthesis, 4 aminophenol is acylated in a reaction with acetic anhydride. In this
reaction, the electron pair on nitrogen of the amine group attack the one of the carbonyls on the acid
anhydride. The electrons move up to the oxygen, forming a negative anion, and a bond is formed

The War I Was A War
1914 through 1918, was the time period for this war. There are a lot of people who don t really know
exactly what started World War I, but there was a lot of events that took place that led into a general
war. The war basically started off as being a military conflict that included a lot of other countries, for
example, many countries of Europe and some other nations throughout the world. Before World War I
was named, it was called Great War, and it was also called World
War. The war kind of started out as having a disagreement between two coalitions of European
countries. It also started with a murder that happened in Balkan city of Sarajevo, actually it was an
assassination. Austria Hungary (Heir to the throne) and his wife were murdered and after that incident,
within five weeks, the war kicked off. Nobody wanted the U.S. to even get involved, not even the
president who at that time was Woodrow Wilson, and he definitely wanted to stay out of the messing
that was going on. Everything was good until around the year 1917, the U.S. shipping from the
german submarine was attacked and Mexico was encouraged to invade U.S. and attack. The Allied
Powers included the countries as follows: United Kingdom, France,
Belgium, Serbia, Montenegro, and the Russian Empire. The Central Powers included: Germany and
Austria Hungary. There was a few nations didn t join the actual fighting. Around 1918, the war was
finally starting to end and Central Powers were defeated. The European powers

Representation In TV Shows
96.7% of people in the United States own a television. The majority of those people have at least one
show that they watch regularly. In some cases, it s even more than that. It s obvious, at least to me,
that TV shows and their characters are incredibly important to people. They have become more than
just a source of entertainment. TV shows are important to people because they encourage
representation, give people something to look forward to, and dive into moral issues. Representation
in TV shows is really important. The majority of conventionally attractive people in the media are
white, but TV shows are beginning to become more diverse. They are starting to portray people of
color in a positive light. A good example of representation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It s important for both young girls and women to see their gender portrayed as strong and capable of
taking care of themselves. The main character on Once Upon a Time, Emma Swan, is a strong female
character that has never been reduced to just a love interest. She has always been the writer of her own
story. One more example of a strong female is Jennifer Jareau from Criminal Minds. She balances
work and her family nearly flawlessly, and shows that women are capable of having a family and a
career. Clarke Griffin, from The 100, is one of the strongest characters, male or female, that I ve seen
on TV in a long time. She leads her people fearlessly, and she is never looked at any differently
because of her gender. On top of that, she is canonically bisexual. Arrow and The Flash are also good
examples of strong women. None of the characters on either of those shows rely on other people to
save them. One character on Arrow, Felicity Smoak, is a hacker. She saves her friends lives from
behind her computer on an almost daily basis. While she is not a conventionally strong woman, she is
still able to take care of herself, and she isn t treated like a lesser human being because she is a female.
That, to me, constitutes a strong woman. Sometimes, it is easier to get through the day if you know
that there is an episode of your favorite show waiting for you when you get home. It gives you
something to look forward to. TV shows also give people

Examples Of Existentialism In The Myth Of Sisyphus
PHILOSOPHY IN HIS WORKS:
At the point when France was involved amid WWII, ended up noticeably dynamic in the resistance
development and acted as the supervisor in boss in the daily paper named battle . Taking a shot at his
three books to be specific the outsider, the torment, and the fall alongside his short stories the myth of
Sisyphus and the revolt in the mid century got him global readership and notoriety. It was in these
works that he presented and built up the twin philosophical thoughts the idea of the silly and the idea
of revolt that made him well known. His assemblage of work additionally incorporates a gathering of
short fiction, banish and the kingdom; a self portraying novel, the primary man; various emotional
works, most quite Caligula, the misconception, the condition of attack, and the equitable professional
killers; a few interpretations and adjustments, including new forms of works by Calderon, lope de

In his book length essay, The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus presents a philosophy that contests philosophy
itself. This essay belongs squarely in the philosophical tradition of existentialism but Camus denied
being an existentialist. Both The Myth of Sisyphus and his other philosophical work, The Rebel, are
systematically skeptical of conclusions about the meaning of life, yet both works assert objectively
valid answers to key questions about how to live. Though Camus seemed modest when describing his
intellectual ambitions, he was confident enough as a philosopher to articulate not only his own
philosophy but also a critique of religion and a fundamental critique of modernity. While rejecting the
very idea of a philosophical system, Camus constructed his own original edifice of ideas around the
key terms of absurdity and rebellion, aiming to resolve the life or death issues that motivated

Theories Of Bering Strait Theory
The bering strait theory is named after Vitus Bering. It is also known as the land bridge theory as well,
the theory takes places during the ice age it is said that the waters of the Bering straits were frozen
over and match up, making sea levels lower which allowed the natives of North America to cross over
from Asia via Siberia. They did not walk over ice they made a route. This is the origin of our fellow
native people. Many believe that the first people to populate the Americas migrated across the Bering
Land Bridge while tracking large game animal herds. Becoming the roots of the bering strait theory. It
s model of how migration started. Even today this shows us how many have crossed america looking
for something more alongside a greater quality of life. The foundation of the bering strait theory, The

Categories Of Homelessness
Questions type 1
Poverty is defined as the deprivation of opportunity, for example lack of access to education, health
are and basic needs such as food, shelter, clothes. In Seattle, the most common characteristic of
poverty is homelessness. Riv Rick, a representative of the Night Watch agency, said that over 10,000
people in Seattle are homeless every night. He divided these people in three categories. The first
category consists of people who have no access to basic needs. The second category consists of people
with Seasonal Affective Disorders. The third category includes those who have a one time homeless
experience. To be homeless in Seattle means not having a place to sleep, no address, no social capital

Katrina Hale, a representative of the Catholic Community Services, mentioned some of the programs
they have that help the homeless in Seattle. These include providing facilities for the homeless to
bathe, wash their clothes, have medical care, and other services that help to make their lives stable. In
addition, this organization also provides adoption, foster care, youth tutoring and other services that
help the children and youth to grow up in a more secure and loving environment. Tara Hoyt, one of
the speakers we had in class, explained her experience visiting the tent cities and other homeless
people in Seattle. She explained how different it is to learn about the hardship pf poverty from books
and from actually visiting the poor. There is such a small space with a large quantity of people
occupying it. She also explains how these places smell so bad because people barely take a shower.
The reason as to why they do not bathe is not because they do not want to but because they have little
or no access to a place where they can bathe from. Therefore, these people are deprived of resources
that most of us have and

John Lewis uses profit sharing as the way of financial motivation combined a wide range of other

Being a partner is a strong motivating factor, You re not just an employee; you are an owner of the
business. That makes you feel differently about everything. (Tom Miller department store director at
JMP)
Partners are paid more generously than employees at other retailers. They receive five weeks annual
holiday, a 25 per cent discount and a final salary pension.
There are other non financial motivators also. Partners can rent subsidized rooms in two large country
estates, or stay at lakeside hotels in Snowdonia and the Lake District, or in a 16th century castle in
Dorset. Five cruising yachts can be rented cheaply. And then there is the £60 annual subsidy on
exhibitions, theatres, visitor attractions and comedy shows.

that industrial experiment. And if they fail to be motivated by that then

Goodwill Industries Of Eastern North Carolina Is The Excel...
Goodwill Industries of eastern North Carolina is the excel tutorial I chose from the links provided.
This tutorial begins by demonstrating how to navigate through excel which is beneficial for those who
are new or need refresher course. Learning how to navigate through the program is an essential part
because it useful to know how to move around if you really don t know much concerning excel. It
explains different components such as rows, columns, and formula bar.
The presentation is based on the 2010 version of excel, however through the tutorial it compares what
features were replaced or taken away from the 2007 excel version. Excel is a spreadsheet program that
allows you to store, organize, and analyze information. During this tutorial, you will learn your way
around the Excel 2010 environment, including the new backstage view, which replaces the Microsoft
Office button menu from Excel 2007. Also, it indicated how to use and modify the ribbon and the
quick access toolbar, as well as how to create new workbooks and open existing ones (GCF Global,
2015).
When you open an Excel workbook, there are three worksheets by default. The default names on the
worksheet tabs are sheet1, sheet2, and sheet3. To organize your workbook and make it easier to
navigate, you can rename and even color code the worksheet tabs. Additionally, you can insert, delete,

Consequences Of Gun Control
Can Gun Control Solve Death? According to the second amendment of the United States Constitution,
citizens have the right to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Today, the United States has the
highest number of guns and per capita in the world. About thirty percent of Americans grown adults
own one or more guns and approximately two thirds of gun owners said they had grown up in
households with guns. According to the survey of the Pew Research Center, people s reasons for
owning a gun was for protection, followed by hunting and sports shooting. But do that reasoning
actually proposed of their satisfactory for owning a gun? Guns are rarely used in self defense because
of victims protected themselves with a threat of use of a firearm. According to the National Crime
Victimization survey, almost five hundred thousands of people victims of a crime committed with a
firearm in two thousand and eleven. Despite people owning guns for protection and for other uses,
guns can lead to a variety of violence for many multiple reasons. Therefore, if the government were to
have stricter gun control policies, people s lives could be saved. By enacting gun control, such as
mandatory safety features, would reduce the number of accidental gun shooting. Most of the
accidental shooting mainly occurs twenty five years old. According to the Injury Mortality Reports, in
2000s, five to two thousands ten, almost four thousand people in the United States died from

The Political Forces Of Colombia
Colombia has been struggling with internal conflict for most of its 204 year history. Since the late
1800s the main reason for conflict would be divisions between bipartisan political forces. Bloody civil
wars dot the history of Colombia but perhaps the most significant period in Colombian violence would
be the clash between the Colombian Liberal Party and the Colombian Conservative Party in the 1940s.
This would culminate into one of the bloodiest civil wars in the country s history, which would simply
be called La Violencia (The Violence). The Colombian Liberal Party had maintained hegemony in
Colombia through the 1930s and 40s, politically sidelining the Colombian Conservative Party. The
presidential elections of 1946, however, would change this. Liberal candidates, Gabriel Turbay and
Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, would split the vote and, therefore, cause the victory of Mariano Ospina Pérez, a
member of the conservative party. The conservatives had suffered condemnation from the liberals
since 1930 and now that the latter s power had manifested in Colombia the tides would shift toward
conservative retaliation. Peasants armed by the Colombian Liberal Party sprung up in order to wage
war on the government. This marked the beginning of a notable rise in political resentment toward
either party by their counterpart. The catalyst that would spark the intense period of violence was the
assassination of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, a wildly popular liberal presidential candidate who was

Panama Canal Expansion
Texas and other Gulf states may not be ready when their ship comes in.
A massive expansion of the Panama Canal is on track to be completed in about two years, making it
possible for huge ships often carrying goods from Asia to bypass their usual stops in the Los
Angeles/Long Beach area and instead sail directly to Texas and other states along the Gulf of Mexico,
as well as the East Coast. From there, the freight could be put on trains and trucks and shipped across
the country potentially generating billions of dollars and creating thousands of jobs not only on the
coasts but also in major inland hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth.
But Texas and other Gulf states are woefully unprepared to handle the goods brought to the area on

The canal, which the U.S. handed over to Panama in 1999, can handle ships up to 106 feet wide, 965
feet long and 39 feet deep but after expansion will be able to handle ships up to 161 feet wide, 1,200
feet long and 49 feet deep. Some of those larger ships can carry nearly triple the cargo of the ships
going through the canal today.
But will any of those boats stop in the Gulf, or will they simply go to the East Coast or elsewhere in
the Atlantic Ocean? The U.S. lacks deep water ports on its southern shores, with limited options
between Los Angeles and Norfolk, Va., officials said.
In many instances, those ports can use federal funds or raise their own dollars through debt to make
the necessary improvements.
As for highways and rail lines, there are scant resources for new projects. But existing dollars,
including funding from state and federal motor fuels taxes, could be steered toward projects that
benefit freight movement.

give input in the state s planning for roads, rail and other parts of the grid. The working group includes

The Epic Of Gilgamesh By Gilgamesh
The Epic of Gilgamesh portrays Enkidu s mortality as a step to portraying his purpose of life. was his
hubris to the continuation of his life in the Netherworld. Out of clay, Aruru created not a man, but a
being that matched the strength and resilience of the King of Uruk, Gilgamesh (George 2003: 5). His
principle of life, to ultimately change the ways of the tyrannical king, which was achieved easily
through a test of strength (George 2003: 10). Simply, They kissed each other and formed a friendship.
(George 2003: 17) before joining strength to defeat the ogre Humbaba. For the test against the
protector of the Cedar Forest, Enkidu proves the power of betrayal by helping Gilgamesh, his
metaphorical brother, kill his old friend Humbaba to assist in the welfare of Uruk (Al rawi/George).
Large planks of cedar were sailed back leagues to Uruk with the head of Humbaba on them,
illustrating how vigor can be taken away so effortlessly. Similarly, after Gilgamesh angers the
Goddess Ishtar, the intellect of Enkidu allowed the thousands of citizens and the destroyed land to be
compensated with the murder of the Bull of Heaven (George 2003: 52). However, his purpose in life
to was assist Gilgamesh into becoming a better king, not kill the protectors of the gods, therefore he
was rewarded with mortal emotions and eventually death. In one of his visions, the gods give him a
glimpse of the Netherworld, a blank society of true equality. George depicts the view of it on page 61:

The Dumbest Generation The Dumbest Generation
A few years ago, I decided to learn sign language. It was not a project for a class, a requirement to
graduate, or a fact that everyone knew. I just wanted to learn sign language, so I did what many twenty
first century millennials do and downloaded an app. The app showed me diagrams to learn basic
phrases, videos to perfect the movements, and lessons to learn more efficiently. The technology of the
app made learning sign language easy, and I could use it wherever I went. I thought that I was smart
for using technology to learn specific things, but Mark Bauerlein, the author of a 2008 book called
The Dumbest Generation, would disagree. According to Bauerlein, twenty first century teenagers
possess low knowledge levels when compared to past generations because of the increased use of
technology. However, Bauerlein is mistaken. This generation is not the dumbest generation because
we focus on different topics, we write more often, and we know that every generation has been called
the dumbest . Every generation is different, and the information that is commonly learned in each
generation is affected by the events surrounding that time period. As stated in The Dumbest
Generation? Don t Be Dumb article written by Sharon Begley, the reason why people cared more
about politics in 1966 than now was because politics determined whether or not you were going to get
drafted and shipped to Vietnam . Today, teenagers do not care as much about politics because,

Mama could be defined as a round character in the story because of the change she undergoes at the
end. Mama?s goes through a dramatic change in the story when she gets up the nerve to tell her

the bad end of things, the household items for her marriage.
Dee could probably be considered a main character in the story, but her change was too simple,
because she changed on the outside only, and because she didn?t change on the day that the story
occured. Mama stated ?When I looked at her like that something hit me in the top of my head and ran

The Vietnam War On The Movie, Platoon, As A Portal
Platoon
The Vietnam War was one the most controversial wars in America. This paper is meant to examine the
Vietnam War using the movie, Platoon, as a portal. Analyzing scenes in the movie and how they
pertain to the films ideology. The paper will look at the struggles presented in war from the outlook of
the grunt. It will look at the pro war and anti war view of propaganda. It will look at the good and evil,
right and wrong, conflicts in the film. How do these messages reflect the reality of the war? Is the
agenda to create a vision of reality or is the film simply a form of entertainment?
The film, Platoon, is the perspective of the Vietnam War in 1967 through the eyes of Chris Taylor
(Charlie Sheen). Chris leaves school to enlist in combat and once he starts he quickly questions his
decision. He has two officers, Sergeant Barnes (Tom Berenger) and Sergeant Elias (Willem Dafoe).
The two officers have different views; Barnes, who wants revenge because he believes that the VC
(Viet Cong) ground troops are being safeguarded by a local village, and Elias, who has a more
peaceful, less violent demeanor. Tension builds between Barnes and Alias until Barnes shoots a
villager in the head, Elias intervenes preventing annihilation of the village inhabitants. This event
causes the platoon to split into two camps which pit against each other, causing conflict with the
enemy and the men in the platoon.
The film will be examined using the ideological film theory. The film

The Blood Of Blood And Blood
The ABO blood types play an integral role in conducting blood transfusions. Blood is a complex,
living tissue that contains many cell types and proteins (green). The average adult body is comprised
of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components, each with a
specific function. Almost half of the blood volume is red blood cells, which transport oxygen and
other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other wastes. White
blood cells, which are used to fight infections, and platelets, which form blood clots to prevent blood
loss only make up about 1% of the total blood volume. The rest of the blood, about 55%, is plasma,
the fluid that carries the blood cells, along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the red
blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red blood
cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of antigens
determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood, while a
person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will have type
AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood. Type O blood is
actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the population. About 40% of the
population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to 11% is Type B. Only 4% of all
Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red cells, in other words type AB blood
(red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that
the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to
external influences (blue). A child inherits one allele for an antigen from each parent and the
combination determines his blood type. The A and B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive.
Therefore, if a child, for example, receives a B gene from one parent and an O gene from the other, he
will have type B blood. If, on the other hand,

How Does Mary Magdalene Play In The Da Vinci Code
Everyone loves conspiracies. And so did the readers, who scurried into bookstores to buy one of the
80 million copies of The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Even though the novel is, of course, fictional,
Brown s claim from the start that all [descriptions] of the architecture, art, secret rituals, history, and
Gnostic gospels are true is provocative, and gives a sense of authority to the book s elaborate but
distorted theories. Many, including Christians, wonder how much they really know about Jesus and a
woman named Mary Magdalene. Although Mary Magdalene s role in the known Bible is relatively
short compared to other characters, Mary Magdalene plays a critical role in the book The Da Vinci
Code. Dan Brown s misinterpretation of historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Nicaea Council was gathered to settle The Arian crisis in 318. Arius, a priest of Alexandria, taught
that Jesus Christ was not God, or any divine being, by suggesting that Jesus was not eternal, but a
human being created prior to other humans, therefore He was different in nature from God, and was
adopted by God. The concept of trinity was actually confirmed in the Bible. For example, the Gospels
of John repeats that Jesus is God and calls him Lord, a title reserved for Yahweh. In addition, Jesus s
divinity was established by pre Nicene church fathers, such as Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr,
Tertullian and Origen. Nonetheless, Constantine held a meeting at Nicaea in 325 and invited around
318 bishops to resolve the dispute (Hangen). The result was nothing close to what Brown claims to be
a relatively close vote (Brown 204). Out of all the bishops, only two refused to sign the Nicene Creed
that recognized Jesus as the Son of God (Barnett). Brown s statement is absurd and clearly misleading.
His assertion that questions Jesus s divinity because of the close vote at the Council of Nicaea is
inconsistent with historical context.
Some might argue that some bishops were forced to sign the agreement. It is true that there were
originally seventeen bishops opposed to the proposal, and the number reduced to two after
Constantine threatened exile. However, even if seventeen, instead of two, were to be considered as the
number originally opposed to Jesus s divinity, there would still be a vast majority supporting Jesus s
divinity

Michelangelo s Influence On The Development Of Western Art
Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer. His most well
known technique was fresco. He had a major influence on the development of western art. He also
influenced many artists in the Renaissance. He was born in Caprese, Italy in the year of 1475. He
considered Florence to be his home at heart. During the Renaissance Era, Florence was a center of art.
Michelangelo saw that as an opportunity to develop his true talents. At 13, Michelangelo was an
apprentice to painter Domenico Ghirlandaio, particularly known for his murals. Although
Michelangelo expressed his genius in many media, he would always consider himself a sculptor first.
Michelangelo has always been known as one of the most famous Renaissance artists because of his
awe inspiring paintings, Sistine Chapel Ceiling, The Last Judgment, and The Torment of Saint
Anthony, and artistic panache.
The Torment of Saint Anthony is the earliest known painting by Michelangelo. This painting shows
Saint Anthony being accosted by demons in midair. Michelangelo finished this painting at the age of
twelve or thirteen in. This painting shows a jumpstart of his many talents. The mediums used in this
artwork include tempera and oils on wood panel. The color scheme is very cool. The green and red of
the demons contrasts the background, making the black robe stand out more. The lines in the painting,
which are vertical, puts an effect that the demons appear more realistic, making you

The Charge Of The Light Brigade, And The Things They Carried
War is not the place for the common man; it is for the only for brave. This concept is seen in many
war stories but it is emphasized in others. Examples of these stories include The Charge of the Light
Brigade by Lord Alfred Tennyson, and Speaking of Courage from Tim O Brien s The Things They
Carried. Both stories account a war, but each occurs at a different stage; The Charge of the Light
Brigade happens at the middle of a war, while Speaking of Courage occurs as a soldier reflects on a
war. Despite these different stages of war, soldiers must have courage and bravery to fight and survive
in war. Bravery is so important in war and to the military, many medals have been issued for bravery.
However, not all medals have the same meaning and value. Norman Bowker, a war veteran, thinks
how he would explain medals, like the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, to his father, None of those

In war, soldiers are often commanded to charge at the enemy without question. The Charge of the
Light Brigade specifically transpires in the Crimean War, and is about the charge of a half a league of
men. Tennyson describes the men s orders when he says, Theirs not to reason why, / Theirs but to do
and die (Tennyson 14 15). This lack of reasoning and total trust in leadership and instincts is a trait
only seen in gallant soldiers. More than following orders, giving orders or surviving, accepting death
takes the most honor and heroism. This acceptance of death is seen when Tennyson describes the
charge, Boldly they rode and well, / Into the jaws of Death (Tennyson 23 24). To follow an order
without question that one knows will ultimately end in his or her death is a feat beyond any form of
day to day bravery. In the charge many men die, but just because they did not survive does not mean
they were not valiant; they followed an order to fight to their

customer demands for quality products on time and on budget. The majority of Semicontronics
customers are international, mid market manufacturing companies that produce generic electronics

If Semicontronics can maintain its track record for supplying cost efficient, quality products on target,
it could open an entire new customer market for expansion. While negotiating the supplier contract,
Semicontronics realizes the memory in its current computer chips will have to be significantly
increased to support the technical capabilities of Phoneson s electronics. Its current manufacturing
plant in Brazil is not equipped to meet these new demands, and an upgrade at this stage in a new
customer endeavor is not economically feasible for Semicontronics. Semicontronics realizes it must
find a quality subcontractor with the capabilities to manufacture the Phoneson computer chips,
including the enhanced memory requirements.
Cash in your chips... After careful market research and consideration of options, Semicontronics
decides to subcontract the computer chip manufacturing to Singatron, a relatively new electronics
manufacturer in Singapore. Singapore has been a hotbed for electronics manufacturing, and Singatron
was created by venture capitalist hoping to get a foothold in Singapore s electronics market,
specifically, in the next generation of computer chips. Although Singatron markets itself as a top
quality manufacturer, its lack of experience is proving to be a major obstacle to it winning contracts.

Mythic Frontiersman In Owen Winter s The Virginian
[Intro]
In the later half of the nineteenth century, the mythic frontiersman was commonly described as full of
hope, righteous, and uncorrupt by tainted social order. This kind of frontiersman is referred to as the
American Adam. The American Adam frontiersman can be found in [insert]
However in the 1860s and 1870s a new concept of frontiersman arose. Dime novel authors presented
these western men as strong, self reliant, and upholders of the law. This idea of the frontiersman is
presented in Owen Winter s novel, The Virginian. The Virginian is an American hero who is masculine
and always ends up saving the day. This man is portrayed similar to a knight in shinning armor. He

Instead, the myths idealized life on the frontier. Authors used descriptive details in their stories to
make the west seem appealing to the American Dream. The myths of the frontier made the Great
Plains look like a land that was full of opportunity. An illustration of this idea is the dime novel,
Young Wild West written by An Old Scout. This novel was about an eighteen year old boy who
traveled all over the western frontier looking for adventures. Young Wild West, no matter the issue,
always saved the day. Americans have a fondness for the frontier myth because of the belief in
economic opportunity. There was also something about the image of a man plunging into the
wilderness on his own and defending himself against the unknown dangers in the new world that
many Americans found fascinating and mysterious. Additionally, the Plains offered all peoples a fresh

governance structure than waslikely envisaged at its inception;it could be argued that federalism s

It is submitted that the need for greater levels of trust between levels of government to make
federalism work is potentially made more challenging by the dynamic of our two party system of

Most teenagers can agree that hooking up with someone refers to having some form of a sexual
relationship. However, it is extremely unclear what the extent of the relationship is, whether it means
to kiss someone or to have sex with someone. The fact that the definition is not universally understood
can lead to rumors being spread and give people bad reputations. A friend of mine, named Nicole,
went to college and would tell her friend, Sarah, who is from a different state, about a few of the boys
she kissed but used the phrase, hook up. When Nicole said I hooked up with this guys at the party last
night, Sarah assumed that when she said hooked up she meant that she had sex with the boys, and
started looking at Nicole in a negative way. Sarah started telling other girls that Nicole was a slut and
got around. Nicole comes from a city where hook up means to kiss someone, but Sarah comes from a
city where it means to have sex. It can be extremely dangerous, especially in college, to use this
phrase without providing specific context, because people make assumptions based on their own

Woodworker was a very broad term for a loose category of jobs. There was the Cabinetmaker, who

planks out of logs. He used the planks to make shingles, which were given to The Joiner so he could

There was also walnut, which was one of the only types of wood grown locally that was considered
fine, or fancy. One type of imported wood was mahogany. It was imported from the Caribbean and
was very expensive. It was usually used for dressers and cabinets, but could be used for tables and
candlestands as well. This shows that only wealthy people would buy finer furniture because it was
fashionable and expensive. Although mostly the English used Woodworking, the Native Americans
did too. Native Americans did some woodworking. The Native Americans made tools out of bone
from dead animals. They made different tools from different bones. One tool they made from bone
was the axe. This shows that Native Americans did not have access to metal and used an alternative
resource for woodworking. Some Woodworkers were well known more than others.
Some noted Woodworkers not only built but sometimes fixed parts of the town. There were famous
woodworkers such as Benjamin Powell, who fixed the Public Gaol. James Morris, who supervised
construction on the Bruton Parish Church. John Wheatley did repairs on the Palace and helped on
Carter s Grove Plantation. A man named Christopher Ford built the 2nd Capital Building in Colonial
Williamsburg. This shows that Woodworkers played an important role in the construction of Colonial
Williamsburg. Such a job does have a good income. The Colonial Woodworker worked on many jobs,
for which he was paid.

Comparing The Haunted House In The Fall Of The House Of...
A haunted house, or a house in which all is not as it seems, is a common trope of Gothic literature.
This is due to the familiar nature of the home being distorted into something wholly uncanny. In The
Fall of the House of Usher the past sin of the Usher family results in the ultimate demise of, not only
the house, but also the Usher bloodline. The house in Poe s tale is in a state of severe decay. This is
similar to the residents of the house who are suffering from a hereditary illness that is inflicted upon
the Usher family. Similarly, in The House of The Seven Gables, a once magnificent house has become
a ruin of its former self due to a curse that affects the lives of the Pyncheon family. The family are also
cursed with poor fortune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When first built the house is described as great house (p. 8), its whole visible exterior was ornamented
with quaint figures, conceived in the grotesqueness of a Gothic fancy. (p. 8) Here the house is grand
and corresponds with the public image of Colonel Pyncheon and the Pyncheon name. However, when
describing the current state of the house, the narrator notes that there was a carpet on the floor,
originally or rich texture, but so worn and faded in these latter years that its once brilliant figure had
quite vanished into one indistinguishable hue. (p. 19) The description of the house again corresponds
with the state of the Pyncheon family at the time a majority of the novel is set. They are low on
fortune and have decreased in social status. Like the house, the family have become indistinguishable
from their former glory. Colonel Pyncheon originally claimed the land that had once belonged to
Maule in order to increase his social status and power within the Puritan community. Land ownership
is a very prominent part of America s identity. A theory that was widely believed by American
colonialist was Manifest Destiny. This is the belief that it is the God given right of colonialist to
expand across America (Pratt, 1927). Gilman notes that throughout the whole history of civilization
land has been seen as primarily a source of power. (1984) Pyncheon already has a sizable plot of land
in the community bust still strives to absorber Maule s land. When first built, The House of the Seven
Gables symbolised the prestige of the Pyncheon name. However, that name no longer holds the same
meaning as it did in Colonel Pyncheon s time. Blotting writes that with another steeple edifice the
isolated house or mansion there is a similar conjunction of family line, social status and physical

Challenges of the Automobile Industry of USA Essay
As we all know, automobile industry plays an important part in the economy of USA; however, this
industry is facing some environmental challenges. In this assignment, I would like to discuss about the
challenges that the automobile industry of USA is struggling with. Specifically, there are four main
challenges that will be looked into details which are global competition, new technology, emission s
effect on the environment and the government s reaction, and the consumers opinion about the
products.
Firstly, the automobile industry of USA is facing an intense global competition. Beside some
American brands of automobiles such as Ford, General Motors (GM), there are other foreign brands
which are proving their positions in the automobile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we can see, the automobile industry of USA is affected by the economic depression in 2009, and
there are more competitors trying to compete in the automobile industry.
Secondly, what is the role of new technology in empowering the automobile products? It is the fact
that USA is one of the countries having the best technology which is always updated for new
innovation. Nowadays, the means of shopping is not just going to the stores, looking at the catalogues
and talking to the dealers. Everything now can be done just by a click. All the big automobile
companies have their own official websites where customers can get the information about the newest
trends with all the detailed information. By this way, it can save customers a great deal of time and
they have more selection over a wide range of products. That is the reason why there are more and
more customers turning to online shopping. According to a survey done by J.D. Power and Associates
(2002), there were 60% to 80% of customers went to the company website to search for information
before going to the store and take the test drive. Another good point about the Internet is that new
customers can look for the review from those who already purchased the products to see if that
product is worth its cost, as stated in the same survey there is 60% of the buyers refer to the internet
before making their purchase (J.D. Power and Associates, 2002).

1918 Spanish Flu Research Paper
1918 Spanish Flu
It was the year 1918, Many people were fighting viciously in the World War fighting for what each
side had believed was true and fair. Both the allied and the axis powers were butting heads across
Europe, Asia and Africa. As the war was coming to an end a massive 16 million lives were taken from
the war torn events that had taken place. While the war effort was in full force both domestically and
internationally, A secret war was brewing under the surface becoming the underlying theme for what
would be the most cataclysmic atrocity that had ever existed, only coming second to the bubonic
plague. This would be the name of the biggest viral pandemic to had spread since that time, and its
name would be the 1918 flu or Spanish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These symptoms were treatable and no one though nothing of it when they were gone. In fact, when
the disease began, many health professionals had dismissed the disease as the common cold. And
when the disease came about and was discovered. It was being treated as a bacteria and not a virus.
This made the treatment and finding a vaccination difficult as it was not being classified in the
appropriate areas. This made it difficult to prevent because a disease of this nature at its critical stage
is able to be airborne and the masked used to prevent the disease was permeable enough to allow the
virus to pass through it and infect an individual. It grew to be more aggressive as it turned a victims

for both gender in the nation plummeted near a decade.
The disease did not discriminate amongst any gender, race, nationality or creed. The disease affected
the poorest of the poor to the richest of the rich. Some even massive world leaders. Although it
originated in Kansas, The Spanish flu ended up traveling to major cities along the east coast to cities
such as Boston and Philadelphia and later into suburbs and rural areas alike. Many had tried to isolate

Similarities Between Casey And Goliath
In the poem Casey at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and Casey shows
differences and similarities. One of the similarities is that they both faced giants. David faced the
literal giant Goliath. A verse in the Bible says The Philistine army had a hero named Goliath who was
from the town of Gath and was over nine feet tall. Casey s giant was him overcoming his ego. An
example of this is, There was pride in Casey s bearing and a smile on Casey s face. Another similarity
is that they had a goal in mind the entire time. David s goal was to defeat Goliath and bring glory to
God. On the other hand Casey s goal was to win the baseball game. Some examples of this are, You ve

The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District
water edited
corey paul to Mary, me
50 minutes agoDetails
The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District will set a hearing for the company seeking a
new water supply for Odessa as soon as this month, while a public battle over the proposal continues.
Winning the hearing doesn t mean Republic Water Company of Texas will win approval to export the
water. Board members, for example, could dismiss the application as another version of a request the
board already denied, prompting another lawsuit. But City of Odessa and company officials say they
view it as a step closer to winning an export permit for what they describe as a long term and higher
quality water supply even if it might end up costing more.
The district will have to hold the hearing by the end of the year after determining the application
complete.
Meanwhile, company officials say they still plan to request a hearing before an administrative law
judge instead of the district board. The judge s decision would be non binding but could be used in a
lawsuit if the board acted against his or her findings.
It s always been our intention because of the emotional nature of this topic in that county that
everyone would be better served if you take it out of the hands of this district and have a (State Office
of Administrative Hearings) judge view it without this lens, said Jimmy Perkins, a principal with
Republic Water Company.
The groundwater district s Sept. 20 decision to set up a preliminary hearing came

Atonement and in Memory of W. B Yeats
In Memory of C. Tallis and R. Turner In this essay I will discuss the effects of W. H. Auden s poem In

Atonement. The poem and the novel are both elegiac it is the contribution of the poem to Atonement
at the crucial point before the deaths of the characters Robbie and Cecilia that begins to set the tone of

Which shows that the cat shows remorse, and the man s past evil deeds.
The mood of The Black Cat is one of perverseness, fright, and uneasiness. The narrator is clearly in
sorrow and is an unreliable narrator, there is also a feeling of suspense and action as the narrator leads
up to the way they discover he murdered his wife.
The Black Cat has a variety of examples of mood, the black cat, hideous, hidden behind the wall,
cemented in by the Narrator himself, His guilt, self hatred, and need for punishment are all exposed
when he bangs on the wall, prompting the black cat to howl, and revealing to the stunned policemen,
the secret hidden behind the wall. The narrator describes the cat as a Nightmare, The cat won t leave
him alone, day or night. If the man falls asleep, he has bad dreams, and always wakes up with the cat
sitting on his chest, eventually the narrator stops sleeping.
The narrator admits to nodding off frequently, and to sleep

  • 2. Overview Of The Balanced Scorecard 1. Overview of the Balanced Scorecard Organisations, in order to increase performance, profitability, efficiency and to gain a competitive advantage, will benefit from a good strategic performance measurement system to ensure that lower level managers are acting in a way that is consistent with top managers goals and whole organisation s strategy. One the dominant system is the balanced scorecard framework (Hill, Jones Schilling, 2015, p.376). The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is defined as a tool that translates an organisation s mission, objectives and strategies into performance measures. It is used to implement strategy and to monitor and manage performance, and may form part of the organisation s planning cycle (Smith et al, 2015, p.621). The BSC allows managers to look at an organisation from four important perspectives, financial, customer, internal business, and employee learning and growth, which are critical for running the organisation and creating value (Smith et al, 2015, p.621). The BSC performance measurement system delivers the following benefits, it: Transforms organisation s strategy into operations Brings into line everyone day to day work in organisation to strategy Synthesis financial and non financial reporting Indicates and focuses on important objectives and its measures Concentrates on organisation s strategy and critical success factors Enhances communication within organisation and provides wider organisation s vision understanding ... Paracetamol Synthesis and Uses Essay Paracetamol Synthesis and Uses Discovered in 1877 by Harmon Northrop Morse at the John Hopkins University, Paracetamol was one of several aniline deriviatives that was found to have analgesic and antipyretic properties (Brodie 23). It was first synthesized by the reduction of p nitrophenol with tin in glacial acetic acid; however was not used classified as a medication until ten year later (Bertolini 264). Initially, phenacetin, a closely related compound that exhibited similar physiological effects, became the popular over the counter drug for headaches (Bertolini 251). However, later research by Brodie and Axelrod in 1949 found that phenacetin was in fact metabolized into paracetamol within the body (Brodie and Axelrod 60). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction where a hydrogen on the aromatic ring is replaced with a nitro group. The hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring is an electron donating group and therefore serves as an ortho para director. Through the nitration reaction, two products are formed: o nitrophenol and p nitrophenol. In comparing the stability of the two resulting products, o nitrophenol is less stable due to steric hinderance and proximity of the hydroxyl and nitro group to one another. On the other hand, p nitrophenol does not experience the same steric hinderance since the two group as on opposite sides of the aromatic ring and therefore do not interfere with one another. As a result, p nitrophenol is the major product of reaction. It is also the product of interest and will be involved in the next step of the synthesis. Subsequently, p nitrophenol is reduced by sodium borohydride to give 4 aminophenol. In an industrial synthesis, hydrogenation is used for reduction instead of sodium borohydride to produce an identical product(Travis 764). The use of hydrogenation is more efficient when produce larger quantities. In the last step of the synthesis, 4 aminophenol is acylated in a reaction with acetic anhydride. In this reaction, the electron pair on nitrogen of the amine group attack the one of the carbonyls on the acid anhydride. The electrons move up to the oxygen, forming a negative anion, and a bond is formed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The War I Was A War 1914 through 1918, was the time period for this war. There are a lot of people who don t really know exactly what started World War I, but there was a lot of events that took place that led into a general war. The war basically started off as being a military conflict that included a lot of other countries, for example, many countries of Europe and some other nations throughout the world. Before World War I was named, it was called Great War, and it was also called World War. The war kind of started out as having a disagreement between two coalitions of European countries. It also started with a murder that happened in Balkan city of Sarajevo, actually it was an assassination. Austria Hungary (Heir to the throne) and his wife were murdered and after that incident, within five weeks, the war kicked off. Nobody wanted the U.S. to even get involved, not even the president who at that time was Woodrow Wilson, and he definitely wanted to stay out of the messing that was going on. In some cases, it s even more than that. It s obvious, at least to me, that TV shows and their characters are incredibly important to people. They have become more than just a source of entertainment. TV shows are important to people because they encourage representation, give people something to look forward to, and dive into moral issues. Representation in TV shows is really important. The main character on Once Upon a Time, Emma Swan, is a strong female character that has never been reduced to just a love interest. She has always been the writer of her own story. One more example of a strong female is Jennifer Jareau from Criminal Minds. She balances work and her family nearly flawlessly, and shows that women are capable of having a family and a career. Clarke Griffin, from The 100, is one of the strongest characters, male or female, that I ve seen on TV in a long time. She leads her people fearlessly, and she is never looked at any differently because of her gender. On top of that, she is canonically bisexual. Arrow and The Flash are also good examples of strong women. None of the characters on either of those shows rely on other people to save them. One character on Arrow, Felicity Smoak, is a hacker. She saves her friends lives from behind her computer on an almost daily basis. While she is not a conventionally strong woman, she is still able to take care of herself, and she isn t treated like a lesser human being because she is a female. That, to me, constitutes a strong woman. Sometimes, it is easier to get through the day if you know that there is an episode of your favorite show waiting for you when you get home. Though Camus seemed modest when describing his intellectual ambitions, he was confident enough as a philosopher to articulate not only his own philosophy but also a critique of religion and a fundamental critique of modernity. Since the late 1800s the main reason for conflict would be divisions between bipartisan political forces. Bloody civil wars dot the history of Colombia but perhaps the most significant period in Colombian violence would be the clash between the Colombian Liberal Party and the Colombian Conservative Party in the 1940s. This would culminate into one of the bloodiest civil wars in the country s history, which would simply be called La Violencia (The Violence). The Colombian Liberal Party had maintained hegemony in Colombia through the 1930s and 40s, politically sidelining the Colombian Conservative Party. The presidential elections of 1946, however, would change this. Liberal candidates, Gabriel Turbay and Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, would split the vote and, therefore, cause the victory of Mariano Ospina Pérez, a member of the conservative party. The conservatives had suffered condemnation from the liberals since 1930 and now that the latter s power had manifested in Colombia the tides would shift toward conservative retaliation. Peasants armed by the Colombian Liberal Party sprung up in order to wage war on the government. The average adult body is comprised of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components, each with a specific function. Almost half of the blood volume is red blood cells, which transport oxygen and other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other wastes. He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the red blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red blood cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of antigens determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood, while a person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will have type AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood. Type O blood is actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the population. About 40% of the population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to 11% is Type B. Only 4% of all Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red cells, in other words type AB blood (red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to external influences (blue). A child inherits one allele for an antigen from each parent and the combination determines his blood type. The concept of trinity was actually confirmed in the Bible. For example, the Gospels of John repeats that Jesus is God and calls him Lord, a title reserved for Yahweh. In addition, Jesus s divinity was established by pre Nicene church fathers, such as Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, Tertullian and Origen. Nonetheless, Constantine held a meeting at Nicaea in 325 and invited around 318 bishops to resolve the dispute (Hangen). The result was nothing close to what Brown claims to be a relatively close vote (Brown 204). Out of all the bishops, only two refused to sign the Nicene Creed that recognized Jesus as the Son of God (Barnett). Brown s statement is absurd and clearly misleading. His assertion that questions Jesus s divinity because of the close vote at the Council of Nicaea is inconsistent with historical context. Some might argue that some bishops were forced to sign the agreement. It is true that there were originally seventeen bishops opposed to the proposal, and the number reduced to two after Constantine threatened exile. He had a major influence on the development of western art. He also influenced many artists in the Renaissance. He was born in Caprese, Italy in the year of 1475. He considered Florence to be his home at heart. During the Renaissance Era, Florence was a center of art. Michelangelo saw that as an opportunity to develop his true talents. At 13, Michelangelo was an apprentice to painter Domenico Ghirlandaio, particularly known for his murals. Although Michelangelo expressed his genius in many media, he would always consider himself a sculptor first. Michelangelo has always been known as one of the most famous Renaissance artists because of his awe inspiring paintings, Sistine Chapel Ceiling, The Last Judgment, and The Torment of Saint Anthony, and artistic panache. The Torment of Saint Anthony is the earliest known painting by Michelangelo. This painting shows Saint Anthony being accosted by demons in midair. Michelangelo finished this painting at the age of twelve or thirteen in. This painting shows a jumpstart of his many talents. The mediums used in this artwork include tempera and oils on wood panel. • 27. The Charge Of The Light Brigade, And The Things They Carried War is not the place for the common man; it is for the only for brave. This concept is seen in many war stories but it is emphasized in others. Examples of these stories include The Charge of the Light Brigade by Lord Alfred Tennyson, and Speaking of Courage from Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried. Both stories account a war, but each occurs at a different stage; The Charge of the Light Brigade happens at the middle of a war, while Speaking of Courage occurs as a soldier reflects on a war. Despite these different stages of war, soldiers must have courage and bravery to fight and survive in war. Bravery is so important in war and to the military, many medals have been issued for bravery. However, not all medals have the same meaning and value. In war, soldiers are often commanded to charge at the enemy without question. The Charge of the Light Brigade specifically transpires in the Crimean War, and is about the charge of a half a league of men. Tennyson describes the men s orders when he says, Theirs not to reason why, / Theirs but to do and die (Tennyson 14 15). This lack of reasoning and total trust in leadership and instincts is a trait only seen in gallant soldiers. More than following orders, giving orders or surviving, accepting death takes the most honor and heroism. This acceptance of death is seen when Tennyson describes the charge, Boldly they rode and well, / Into the jaws of Death (Tennyson 23 24). To follow an order without question that one knows will ultimately end in his or her death is a feat beyond any form of day to day bravery. This is due to the familiar nature of the home being distorted into something wholly uncanny. In The Fall of the House of Usher the past sin of the Usher family results in the ultimate demise of, not only the house, but also the Usher bloodline. The house in Poe s tale is in a state of severe decay. This is similar to the residents of the house who are suffering from a hereditary illness that is inflicted upon the Usher family. However, when describing the current state of the house, the narrator notes that there was a carpet on the floor, originally or rich texture, but so worn and faded in these latter years that its once brilliant figure had quite vanished into one indistinguishable hue. (p. 19) The description of the house again corresponds with the state of the Pyncheon family at the time a majority of the novel is set. They are low on fortune and have decreased in social status. Like the house, the family have become indistinguishable from their former glory. Colonel Pyncheon originally claimed the land that had once belonged to Maule in order to increase his social status and power within the Puritan community. Land ownership is a very prominent part of America s identity. A theory that was widely believed by American colonialist was Manifest Destiny. This is the belief that it is the God given right of colonialist to expand across America (Pratt, 1927). • 43. Similarities Between Casey And Goliath In the poem Casey at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and Casey shows differences and similarities. One of the similarities is that they both faced giants. David faced the literal giant Goliath. A verse in the Bible says The Philistine army had a hero named Goliath who was from the town of Gath and was over nine feet tall. Casey s giant was him overcoming his ego. The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District water edited corey paul to Mary, me 50 minutes agoDetails The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District will set a hearing for the company seeking a new water supply for Odessa as soon as this month, while a public battle over the proposal continues. Winning the hearing doesn t mean Republic Water Company of Texas will win approval to export the water. Board members, for example, could dismiss the application as another version of a request the board already denied, prompting another lawsuit. But City of Odessa and company officials say they view it as a step closer to winning an export permit for what they describe as a long term and higher quality water supply even if it might end up costing more. The district will have to hold the hearing by the end of the year after determining the application complete. Meanwhile, company officials say they still plan to request a hearing before an administrative law judge instead of the district board. The judge s decision would be non binding but could be used in a lawsuit if the board acted against his or her findings. It s always been our intention because of the emotional nature of this topic in that county that everyone would be better served if you take it out of the hands of this district and have a (State Office of Administrative Hearings) judge view it without this lens, said Jimmy Perkins, a principal with Republic Water Company. The groundwater district s Sept. 20 decision to set up a preliminary hearing came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
