Professional Learning Community Analysis
Professional Learning Community is not a term I would use to describe my school. The textbook
describes Professional Learning Communities as, ...one that promotes and values learning as an
ongoing, active collaborative process with dynamic dialogue by teachers, students, staff, principal,
parents, and the school community to improve the quality of learning and life within the school
(Roberts Pruitt, 2009 p.6). Based on that description alone, as a school we lack the basic components
of having a collaborative process with dialogue from the teachers, staff, and principal with the focus
on improving the quality of learning. Given all of the research findings and positive reviews on the
benefits of implementing Professional Learning Communities ... Show more content on

Some teachers are naturally hesitant to try new things, but I present the program as a trial run, the
teachers know that if we implement something that s not working we will examine steps to fix it
together. My principal does a great job with this, she listens to the teacher s ideas or suggestions and
will find solutions to any problem. Next, I asked, What are some benefits and challenges of PLCs?
Ms. Alexander paused and thought for a moment, the benefits are that teachers work together with a
purpose, they talk about student learning, and the teachers share the same vision. The challenge is
maintaining consistency across the board and motivating every teacher to stay committed. I have
witnessed the challenge with maintaining consistency on a few occasions at my school. For instance,
teachers were randomly grouped together for a teambuilding activity, in which teachers had to share
with their group members common challenges they face every school year. The group members then
developed a short list of tips or strategies that the teacher could use to remedy whatever challenges
they were facing. As

Brooklyn Bridge Research Paper
The Brooklyn Bridge, designed by German immigrant John Augustus Roebling. The bridge is known
as the first hybrid steel wire suspension bridge. It is one of the superb, oldest and longest bridges ever
built in the world at the time it opened, spanning 1825m across east river connecting the Boroughs of
Manhattan and Brooklyn in NY City. The most noticeable feature of the bridge is the two excessive
towers, the 99 meter limestone granite towers overlook everything in view. The Brooklyn bridge was
named The eight wonders of the world because of its iconic towers and length which have never seen
before. Today, the Brooklyn bridge s towers are the landmark of the NY City and called to be
classified as the national monuments. The Brooklyn bridge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

constant pull of loads happening on the bridge but also to make sure that no slackening and vibration

The Implementation Of The 21st Century Essay
The implementation of the 21st century skills requires the development of the core academic subject
its knowledge and understanding among all students. In the K 12 curriculum the development of
scientifically, technologically, and environmentally literate and productive members of society who
are critical problem solvers, responsible stewards of nature, innovative and creative citizens, informed
decision makers and effective communicators is the Science curriculum goal. To carry out this goal,
the teaching of science has to be done using inquiry based approach or inquiry based learning as the
main teaching and learning strategy.
Inquiry based learning or IBL has long been used as a teaching strategy in science, however, this
strategy has been either misunderstood or misused by the implementers. First of all, it is often thought
of that all laboratory activities and experiments are inquiry based. McComas (1997) defined science
pedagogical strategies in an attempt to provide a new foundation for laboratory learning. He made
distinctions in the terms; activity (exercise), cookbook activity, deductive laboratory, discovery,
discretion, experiment, hands on, inductive laboratory, laboratory, practical work, openness,
simulation and verification activity. These terms do not only provide a basis for discussion among
science teachers but as an analytical tool to determine the usefulness and appropriateness of the
laboratory activity.
Classifications of laboratory activities have

Evaluating the Success of America s Policy of Containment...
Evaluating the Success of America s Policy of Containment
American policy of containment refers to the foreign policy strategy of the US in the early years of the
Cold war. The policy was to defeat the Soviet Union by preventing it from expanding the territories
under its Communist control or otherwise extending its influence. This, naturally, resulted in strained
relations and rivalry between the two superpowers. Despite the many difficulties, American policy of
containment during the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War did manage to
contain the expansion of Communism to a certain extent.
The containment of communism in Korea was successful. The Korean War, which ... Show more

He revived the peace talks and an armistice was eventually signed with a demilitarized zone at the
38th parallel. The end of the Korean War proves the fact that America s policy of containing
Communism was successful.
However, America s policy of containing the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis was not so successful. In
fact, it almost resulted in a nuclear war. The crisis was a tense confrontation between the Soviet Union
and United States over the Soviet deployment of nuclear missiles in Cuba. The Cuban Missile Crisis
began on October 14, 1962 and lasted until November 20, 1962. It could have resulted in a nuclear
war. In April 1961, President Kennedy supplied arms, equipment and transport for some anti Castro
exiles to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro. Castro had overthrown the American backed
Batista. The Bay of Pigs incident which was Kennedy s attempt to oust Communism from Cuba was a
disastrous failure. Fidel Castro sought Soviet support; the Soviet Union installed nuclear weapons in
Cuba. Finally, Cuba came under the Soviet Union s sphere of influence; after the Bay of Pigs fiasco,
Soviet Union arms flooded into Cuba. In May 1962 the Soviet Union announced publicly that they
were supplying Cuba with arms. The United States started deploying nuclear missiles near Turkey in
1961, which threatened the Soviet Union. Soviet reasoning

The case study RA (Rest Assured) Insurance Company concerns a company that was involved in a

because of bad decisions, lack of business controls, and a corporate culture that was inefficient and
ineffective. The main objective of this case memo is to identify and appropriately assess the risks that

Reversely, the listed issues can be used to improve the risk control. The risk of unconsciously selling
the wrong product to customers is strongly related to the risk of wrong or incomplete information for
customers. On the one hand, salesmen do not receive clear instructions or are not properly informed
about the products they sell. On the other hand, customers failed to double check policies they take
out. This is due to misleading of salesmen, regardless whether unconsciously or not; individual sales
material, which ought to be replaced by official display material of RA; and the total trust into
salesmen. This risk is hard to control since it would indirectly suppose that RA s salesmen are not
trustworthy. The impact of occurrence is rather low and its likelihood is medium. RA was dedicated to
selling the right product, to the right client, in the right way (p.1. case RA Insurance Company). In
addition, RA assures its customers of financial security and peace of mind (p.1. case RA Insurance
Company). However, RA did not fully live up to those promise statements. As mentioned before,
salesmen were forced to resell life insurances to

customers. This clearly indicates that the business plan and the marketing plan were not consistent
with one another. The impact of occurrence of this risk, a gap between the market image of a company

Intercultural Communication
With the growing of globalization, opportunities of intercultural communication become more
common to individuals everyday life. Thus, it is of vital importance that people understand linguistic
relativity and language ideologies in order to avoid misunderstandings and achieve effective
intercultural communication.
First of all, understanding linguistic relativity encourages people to pay attention to differences
between various languages. How people perceive and experience the world around them can be
influenced by language differences. (Piller, 2011) For example, people may act differently depending
on what languages they are using. Daniel Oh explained that in Korea, people need to use honorifics in
sentences when they speak to people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another aspect of linguistic relativity is communicative relativity. A simple way to define
communicative relativity is that people do different things with language differently . (Piller, 2011) On
one hand, it is obvious that multilingual people tend to switch languages when talking to people from
different cultures. On the other hand, differentiation in language can also take place in the
monolingual situation. For instance, in the scene of debating, people may use a very different form of
English than usual. Kyle Ritchie said that the words, tone, and even speaking styles used by myself
and fellow debaters was purely for the performance . (reflection, May 1, 2017) This kind of choices of
words and tone is aimed to be more professional and knowledgeable (reflection, May 1, 2017)
Therefore, different ways of expression in various languages or even the same language can have a
different effect on communication. To succeed in intercultural communication, it is necessary for
individuals to understand the distinctive way each language has to perceive the world and express
ideas and make right decisions of using language.
In addition, in the intercultural communication, discrimination associated with language ideologies
often exists. Language ideology refers to the views on each language, especially the idea about what a
good language is and what is linguistically right . (Piller, 2011) Some

The Importance Of Life In Victorian London
Victorian London was a charnel house of the dead; a city oozing horror and nowhere more so than a
small chapel where they danced on the dead.
By 1842 London was the modern mega city of the world. For some of her 2.5 million inhabitants it
was an exciting, fashionable and thriving metropolis. For many it was a city of squalor, decay,
epidemics and early death and the disposal of the dead was becoming an increasing problem for the
living.
London s population had exploded but the authorities did not plan for the increasing numbers of the
dead. Burial grounds and churchyards were filled beyond capacity with coffins stacked on top of each
other in deep shafts. Open graves sat just feet from the living world. The dead lay amongst the living

Eventually campaigners, led by the sanitary reformer George Walker, took over the chapel in 1847 and
starting exhuming the dead, moving the remains to the new Norwood Cemetery. This process became
another spectacle for Londoners who gathered to stare at the pyramid of bones...exposed to view 4.
Enon Chapel was not the only place where such practices occurred, but it was the most notorious and
provided useful propaganda horror for reform campaigners such as Walker. The government finally
responded to the pressure, passing the Burial Act in 1852 that closed burial grounds in the city. It
paved the way to the development of the great Victorian cemeteries of Highgate, Nunhead and Kensal
Green.
Clements Lane has become St. Clements Lane but the chapel is long gone, demolished for
development. The present site is now home to the London School of Economics and the Law Courts.
London is a clean and efficient city but its foundations and compacted layers are soaked in the
effluence and mixed with the bones of its ancient

architectures, protocols, algorithms and applications have been proposed and implemented for energy
efficiency. The efficiency of these networks is highly dependent on routing protocols which directly
affecting the network life time. Cluster formation in sensor network is one of the most popular
technique for reducing the energy consumption and expand the lifetime of the sensor network. There
are various cluster formation techniques used in wireless sensor network. In which, Particle Swarm
Optimization (PSO) is simple and efficient optimization algorithm, which is used to form the energy
efficient clusters with optimal selection of cluster head. The comparison is made with the well known
cluster based protocols developed for WSN, LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy)
and LEACH C as well as the traditional K means clustering algorithm. A comparative analysis shown
in the paper and come to the conclusion based on some parameters.

Examples Of If I Would Travel To Paris
(If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?)
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would like to travel to Paris the capital of France. Paris is
said to be one of the best cities in the world. Although it is urban, people there still live romantic and
slow paced lives. I think that such a place is hard to extremely rare. Also, Paris is famous for its
politics, fashion, arts and science. I really want to try out the food in Paris especially the cheese there.
I have also read a lot about the attractions in Paris such as the Louver, the Eiffel Tower and the Notre
dame de Paris. I yearn to see for myself these great works of art. Paris is also a shopping heaven; there
are different famous brands and luxury brands in different department stores. Parisians understand
how to enjoy their life and how to find happiness from ordinary things. They also understand how to
transform their ideals about life into art, make them into music or other artistic forms. In a word, I
really love Paris.

The Black Woman In The Painting
I had the opportunity to customize the painting to make HER look more like myself. And, I considered

wasn t feelin it. The Black woman in the painting was already so beautiful the way she was and I just
didn t feel moved to change HER. Actually, I related to HER in a very intimate way. I already knew it
wasn t the way she looked that I saw in myself. So I couldn t figure out what it was about HER that I
related to. I mean after all, it s just a painting, I don t actually know HER, Right?
Wrong, I do know HER. She is a part of me. She is an extension of me. She is SOLANA NADINE. It
hit me! The woman in the painting looks like a version of what Solana might look like in 20 years or
so. This was the intimate connection I felt to the just the painting woman. According to my view the
woman in the painting is Important Valued. She is Strong Confident. She is Smart Empowered. She is
Kind is Loved. She is Sweet Feisty. She is dark skinned with luscious dark curls. She is at Peace and
She is Beautiful.

Assess the significance of individual cases in changing...
Since the 19th century, law enforcement and punishment has developed rapidly into the justice system
we rely on today. Obscure laws that had become irrelevant in an industrial and post industrial era were
fast being replaced, and despite its lack of existence at the beginning of the 1800 s, policing standards
are, today, high. The necessity for this drastic change in approach to crime has stemmed from the
needs of industrial Britain, and the increased awareness of the public, and government, and their
perception of crime and punishment. Rather than individual cases having a direct impact on these
changes, in general they provide an insight as to the reactions of the public at the time, and along with
the myriad of other cases, allow us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tolpuddle Martyrs are a significant case in showing the increased involvement of the public in
speaking against the justice system. In 1834, members of the Friendly Society of Agricultural
Labourers were transported under an outdated law that prohibited the taking of oaths, when they
protested for a better wage. Perhaps what brought the most sympathy for the case was the fact that
their protest was peaceful, despite the history of violent protest among workers with riots and groups
such as the Luddites. The authorities were equally unsympathetic to this case as they were to the other,
more violent movements. Even after public interest attracted an 800,000 signature petition, protesters
were oppressed at a demonstration in Oldham. The public was aware of the struggles of the poor
worker, but the government still dismissed it; refusing to recognise the desperate circumstance of
workers and citing greed as the motive of the Martyrs. Clearly the case had little impact on
government opinions, with the treatment of the Chartists and the Rebecca Rioters later in the same
decade being the same. But an important contribution of the Tolpuddle Martyrs case was the impact it
had on public opinion, and the increased popularity of worker s unions. This case might suggest that
reform is unrelated to the attitudes of society at

They are labeled the efulefu which in the Igbo language it means worthless, empty men. While there
are men who are seen as worthless the contrary also exist for the men who are respected as much as
the gods in the novel. Okonkwo in the beginning of novel is shown as a strong, brave warrior. He

Capetian Kings of France
What factors promoted the authority of the Capetian Kings of France in the Twelfth century?
France in the eleventh century had been a fragmented land, divided into federal principalities, or mini
states ruled by princes or dukes. Though they recognized the King of France s authority they did not
expect him to exercise it in their individual territories. Feudalism increased the power of these mini
states in the twelfth century, and was the tool used by the Capetian Kings of France to advance their
influence and wealth. Why and how the Capetian dynasty sought to establish and then successfully
utilize this particular system will be the main focus of my essay.

This made way for another advance in solidifying royal power by helping to make the crown
hereditary. The king s son was permitted to be crowned during his father s lifetime in order to preserve
the healing touch. The church gave the monarch a higher degree of moral credibility and in return the
church gained more prestige. One therefore increased the standing of the other in medieval France.
Louis VI s chief minister and ecclesiastical advisor was Abbot Suger of St Denise. He held his
prestigious office from 1122 to his death in 1155, during which time he recorded a history of his king,
The Life of Louis the Fat. As a result of this great power he held in France, he was very much
involved in French politics and virtually ran the Kingdom while King Louis VI was away on crusade.
This aspect of Suger s career would explain his proximity and involvement in the monarch s progress
in gaining a more prominent role in European affairs, and as a result of this proximity, why he was in a
position to chronicle Louis s life. He seems to play a significant role in promoting Capetian authority
in how he portrays Louis as a most pious and worthy king to serve under. He states in the introduction
of his biography that with my pen I describe his devotion to the church s worship of God and implores
his contemporaries and readers not to forget Louis VI s marvellous zeal for the good of the

The Cultural Progression Of Latin America Essay
Latin America has had a very complex history since being colonized by Spain, aside from Brazil, to its
current sociopolitical movements. Unfortunately, Latin America s cultural progression did not spread
and blossom as fast as other countries because they were colonized by the retrograded country of
Spain. Due to the general conservatism in Iberian culture, Spain being the cause of that, Latin America
did not follow the steps towards modernity, unlike French colonized countries. After the colonization
period, Latin America spent its time conserving Spanish culture. The Iberian Peninsula culture did not
have the same opening into the modernity that France had. It wasn t until the 1880 s through the 1910
s that modernismo , an anti nationalist literary movement, arose within Latin America itself, making it
a homegrown movement. Modernismo was the rejuvenation of the Spanish language and its literature.
Modernismo s literature boom allowed for the growth of other literature movements including that
magical realism movement. Influenced by the European surrealism movement, authors such as Alejo
Carpentier and Miguel Ángel Asturias started writing magical realism in the 1920 s and 30 s. magical
realism reached it s peak in Latin America in the 1940 s through 1950 s. During this era, political
ideologies such as communism and socialism rose. Marxism was a major contribution and was widely
studied by the educated citizens of Latin America. There are many parallels between Marxist

providing help; where they have no voice, it means speaking for them.

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this research was to look at the discrimination towards teenagers from certain family
backgrounds, like stepfamilies, ethnic families and single parent families in council housing estates.
The aim is to look at the age range of 13 18 years, as these youngsters have a tendency to be criticised
more by society. With no thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities.
There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage pregnancy in this range of
younger people. There is also a higher level of social exclusions for this age group. There is always a
tendency to lay blame on their circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you
come from a less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you give
someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they can pass judgement on
someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate.
Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the modern media (Int,
2003). Both young people and older adults deserve more choices in where and how they spend their
time. Others should not dictate them, how and where. The need is more acceptable for this to happen

Gender Misrepresentation In The Media
Media representations include the ways in which the media portrays particular groups. When gender is
viewed through the lens of media representations, the disparity between male and female gender
portrayal is evident. Media, technology, and social media are also used to misrepresent and to
underrepresent gender identity. To understand the inequality of gender representation as examined
through the media today, one must look at the history of the relationship between the forms of mass
communication and their effect on gender perception. One must also recognize the current state of
gender inequality in media, including patterns that demonstrate a long history of biased portrayals of
gender in today s society.
Women continue to be underrepresented on television and in other media forms compared with men
on television and the actual population. The underrepresentation of female characters is particularly
profound in drama and action movies and somewhat less so in situation comedies. A recent analysis of
music videos from multiple music television networks found three times as many males as females.
Within film rather than television, there was a study conducted that proved that the content analysis of
popular G rated titles and found a 3 1 ratio in favor of males. This is absolutely absurd and this is
exactly why I wanted to focus my essay on gender and the media, but particularly the
misrepresentation of women in the media.
Women are also misrepresented as only having value in

The article begins by examining the notion of paradigms and worldviews as
currently used in the nursing literature and suggests that the concept of a single paradigm supports a
philosophy inconsistent with nursing s goal of building knowledge on the nature of the human
response. Next, the strength of plurality in nursing knowledge development, its warrantable evidence,
and the concept of a unity of knowledge to support knowledge development and practice is
articulated. Finally, the nursing practice implications of this perspective are discussed. Worldviews
and Paradigms Worldviews and paradigms have been accepted in nursing as essential to researchers
theoretical perspectives, delineation of research questions, and ultimately to the selection of research
methods. The search for a nursing paradigm as a means of knowledge development has been
extensively reviewed in the nursing literature (Fawcett, 1995; Keywords: knowledge development,

Professional Presence and Influence YOT Task 1 Hellen C. Adebowale Models of Health and Healing
Two of the three models of health and healing discussed by Dossey (1999) were Era II Body/Mind
Model of the 1950s and Era III Body/Mind/Spirit Model of the 1990s. According to Dossey (1999),
post World War II the Medical Doctors noticed that there was proof that the functioning of the human
body can be affected by other factors such as stress and emotions which, can lead to diseases such as
ulcers and high blood pressure. This model brought to light the realization that treating the human

International Policy Essay
III. Assessment
As such we have three possible policy options, ranging from nearly total neutrality, to partial insertion
into the conflict, and full out insertion into the conflict
Policy Option I:
Our first policy option is to continue the path we re now of lending only tentative support in the form
of our public position stating that Russia entering Crimea was a break of international law. And with
this not acting upon any real plan of moving forward.
Short Term:
In the short term, this policy may keep the peace for a short while. But by not enforcing international
law, we risk the United Nations facing many more violations, as not enforcing this break, tells the rest
of the world that the United Nations is a watchdog with now real ... Show more content on

Short Term:
The short term affects include the large scale operation costs to provide these weapons and training to
the Ukraine. With this we also risk backlash from Russia, from getting involved even covertly in this
conflict. The desire, would be to accomplish this without Russia knowing, which is rather unlikely,
and therefore, we would be risking whether they might retaliate against the United States. For this
plan to work, we need to assure the Ukraine of the strength of our alliance, and must be willing to
enter further into the conflict to support Ukraine in the backlash from Russia. As to not do so could
very well result in a Bay of Pigs situation.
Long Term:
As for the long term affects, our greatest fear would lay on what we risk by putting weapons in the
hands of the Ukrainian s. We ve seen several former Soviet states, with weapons supplied by Russia,
from using these weapons further and in conflicts we disapprove of. To keep this from happening a
close eye on the Ukraine would be required, once more draining resources further. In terms of long
term peace, this option is the most fitting, with this retaining our alliances and possibly getting our
desires in the end. Economically it is a larger blow than the first policy decision, but cheaper than full
military intervention. We also have a greater chance of having plausible deniability if we support a
counter insurgency plan over a full military action. This however

Irene Rademeyer Reflection
I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Irene Rademeyer, LPT of 1945 Barcelona Drive. Dunedin, Fl.
34698. In talking with Ms. Rademeyer, I learned that she obtained her Physical Therapist license 43
years ago in 1972 (I. Rademeyer, personal communication, June 22, 2015). Ms. Rademeyer developed
an interest in this profession from the influence of her mother who was a nurse. Although she did not
want to follow directly in her mother s footsteps, she had a desire to help others in a medical capacity
and the independence physical therapists have in managing the care of their patients appealed to her
(Rademeyer, 2015). Ms. Rademeyer expressed that she had a desire to be able to change the lives of
people by helping them to regain functionality and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rademeyer as well as others in the profession can influence the decisions of their patients by helping
them to make the right choices in managing their lives on a physical basis, by helping them to modify
their jobs, sports and other activities and by helping to ensure they follow the rehabilitation process
laid out by their physicians (Rademeyer, 2015). Also by listening and educating the patients she can
help patients better manage and control their conditions.
Ms. Rademeyer views several determinants to help a patient access their care, these include,
understanding their insurance guidelines, insuring that her business model adheres to the authorization
and limitations of the patient s insurance plan, educating the patients and providing marketing and
internet access which allow the patients to locate her services easily (Rademeyer, 2015). In regards to
health care legislation, Ms. Rademeyer feels that the large restrictions and limitations on
reimbursement has adversely affected the accessibility of comprehensive rehabilitation programs, thus
putting more responsibility on the patients as well as the physical therapists (Rademeyer, 2015). She
also feels that, even though the requirement for fees to be guided by outcome is a good opportunity for
accountability in physical therapy services, there is a big need for balance between the limitations and
the outcomes to avoid a negative impact on chances for full recovery of some patients (Rademeyer,

Essay about Fraser Company
Problem Statement
Columbia Plastics division of Fraser Company, the major manufacturer of skylights in the Pacific
Northwest, is facing a severe competition from Vancouver Light which has just announced a further
price cut of 10%. Alice Howell, president of the Columbia Plastics is unsure of which options to
implement 1) cut the prices at a level that just cover the costs, or 2) continue the current pricing policy
and lose market leadership. Fraser is facing the erosion of its market share.

Weaknesses
Columbia lacks a strategic management plan linking its resources to its market opportunities.
It lacks thorough understanding of its target market (the needs of the present and future customers).
It lacks continuous improvement in its production process in order to reduce production costs.
(Columbia s production cost is higher than that of competitors.) Opportunities
Market development: Columbia can develop new markets to sell its current products. (for example,
expansion to California, Mid Western states and international markets)
Product development: Using the plastic moulding skills, it can develop new or improved products that
will appeal to the customers (for example, improved skylights to reduce heat loss).
Threats
The competitor is cutting its price to a level that Columbia cannot match.
Columbia is steadily loosing its market share to the competitor (at a rate of 1,000 units per year).
Market and competitive analysis
Total sales of skylights are 45,000 units per year, primarily in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and
Montana. The sales of skylights have levelled off in recent years. Prior to the advent of Vancouver
Light, Columbia had about a 70% share of this market. Colombia also occasionally sells a large order
to California, with a loss or break even to fill slack in the

Hysteria In Hemingway s Big Two-Hearted River
In her discussion of shell shock, Elaine Showalter writes, Men were silenced and immobilized and
forced, like women, to express their conflicts through the body. Placed in intolerable circumstances of
stress, and expected to react with unnatural courage, thousands of soldiers reacted instead with
symptoms of hysteria (Showalter 171). In Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River: Part I, Nick Adams
embodies this symptom of hysteria. His actions and interactions with his belongings and surroundings
showcase different dimensions of his recollection of the intolerable circumstances which he faced in
the Great War and the ways in which he seeks to choke his thoughts of the experience. Nick seeks
nature as a source of distraction and recreation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nick ponders the timeframe of recovery for the grasshopper much as he must ponder the time it will
take for his own mental state to return to normal. He realized that the fire must have come the year
before, but the grasshoppers were all black now. He wondered how long they would stay that way
(Hemingway 136). Even though they survived, these grasshoppers are scarred. The color black is
notable here in its representation of death while also being connected with a living insect. Perhaps
realizing the similarity between his own condition and that of the grasshopper, Nick wishes it well and
says, Go on, hopper,... Fly away somewhere (Hemingway 136). This encouragement and interaction
gives Nick hope that he can fly away from the struggles of his own life through camping and fishing,
as he did in the past, and also by pushing thoughts of war from his mind. However, this moment of
optimism is interrupted by the return of the heavy pack to his back. Nick stood up. He leaned his back
against the weight of his pack where it rested upright on the stump and got his arms through the
shoulder straps (Hemingway 136). Nick rises after his contemplation of flight only to feel the weight
of his war experience back on his

The Typographic Mind By Neil Postman
In the beginning of chapter four, The Typographic Mind, Neil Postman delivers an impressive
narrative argument about the impact of print information culture on 17th and 19th century minds.
Postman makes a few claims with respect to the contrasts between the written and spoken word. In
this essay, there are four qualities of the typographic mind: attention span, listening ability, knowledge
of issues, and literary language. First, Postman discusses attention span in reference to America s first
debate between Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln on August 21 1858. Attention span means the
length of time during which a person can concentrate on a subject or idea. Postman first illustrates
about people with disciplined minds who are able to attend and listen to a 4 5 hour lecture. People at
that time can listen and gather information, so they are able to comprehend and structure sentences.
One debate lasted three hours while another in 1858 went seven. Postman guarrateeds that Douglas
and Lincoln who wrote speeches in advance are pure print and they have the power of typography to
get the audience attention because their language was clear. The audiences who attended the debate
must have had an equally extraordinary capacity to comprehend lengthy and complex sentences
aurally (45). Much of it seemed either blindingly obvious, or like the moanings of a killjoy who can t
bear that television is entertaining and that people are unable to process it through the ear , therefore

Why I Want To Pursue A Juris Doctor Degree
Growing up in a provincial Russian town with its small population, unique spirit and picturesque
winding rivers, I yearned to learn and dreamed of foreign places where I could flourish. When I was a
child, my parents worked long hours while I engulfed myself in American movies and dreamed of the
possibilities that lay ahead. These movies showed me the freedom and opportunities that people of the
United States had. I dedicated myself to become proficient in English, I rented movies with subtitles
and signed up for a distant learning. Back then computers were not widely available and I anxiously
awaited my correspondence by mail. I frequently visited the post office to check if a letter with my
homework had arrived, it was like waiting to open ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today I am ready to take the next step and pursue the Juris Doctor degree. Law has always been an
interest of mine but it became more apparent when I had the fortune of meeting a brilliant attorney
who became my friend. He was not just an educator, advocate, and mentor; his actions changed many
lives. His generosity with pro bono services that defend the unprivileged community fascinated me.
My first time in a court room was watching him defending a young individual who was falsely
accused of absconding because a probation officer went to a wrong door. While being in detention his
mother passed away and he was not granted a furlough. The injustice I witnessed only furthered my
resolve to become an attorney. Sadly, my friend passed away recently but his actions inspired me to
advance more quickly to my goal. After researching multiple law schools, the faculty, resources,
clinics, and externships at Barry University School of Law fit best my educational needs. My plan
after law school is to focus on public interest and become an advocate for those whose voices are not
heard. I know that my determination and passion for the law will be an indispensable value to

True Professionalism is Related to a Person´s Attitudes,...
Nowadays, the competitiveness of companies and the fight for customers, it s increasingly more and
more difficult to attract and retain clients on their side. For this reason, companies must pay great
attention and care to their employees, as they are the ones in constant contact with customers. This
essay will talk about professionalism, particularly what constitutes professionalism, what are the
consequences when employees do not follow the company s conduct for the big company such as
Rolls Royce and will look at some of the facts how Rolls Royce deals with these kind of issues.
Furthermore, I will reflect on the situation when acting as professional become an issue during the
placement with Rolls Royce. The word professionalism is often referred to as person s attitude,
behaviour , and capabilities in their job (Smith and McKeen, 2003). Maister (1997) explains, being
professional does not necessary describes a person with a set of job qualifications, it is rather a label
one have to earn in the eyes of others. So what describes true professionalism? There is no generally
adopted norm of what constitutes professionalism, what defines professionalism in one company may
not apply somewhere else, however, it is recognized that manners and appearance are inseparable part
of it (Smith and McKeen, 2003). Physical appearance is just as important as actual behaviour on the
job. If IT employee s appearance does not fit with the professional image of the rest of the

The New Features Of Windows Server 2012

Some of the new features of Windows Server 2012 that I will be utilizing in order to ensure the
organization needs are met will be the Work Folders and Direct Access feature for the users that will
be utilizing the remote sites. The Hyper V, Storage Tiering and DHCP for fault tolerance, IP
availability which I will be going further in depth during the proposal. For the deployment of the
Servers in the organization I felt 3 physical servers at a minimum would be best in terms of ensuring
all the users have access to the same services. Two servers will act as a main server will be located at
the Los Angeles site while one will be located at the New York site the third server will act up as a
backup for the two in the event of one failing and will be located at the Los Angeles location. I will be

Server Core installed but will be set up for the desk top experience. Which include the GUI to ensure

Taking a Look at Marfan Syndrome
Marfan Syndrome, which is named after Antoine Marfan who first described the disorder in 1896, is a
genetic disorder that affects the connective tissues found throughout the body. This syndrome can
affect many different parts of the body, but the most commonly affected are the heart, blood vessels,
bones, joints, respiratory system, nervous system, and eyes. Thankfully, a person s intelligence is
never affected. Marfan syndrome affects people from all races and ethnic backgrounds, and this often
makes it hard to detect. It is a pretty rare genetic disorder affecting only about 1 in every 5,000 people.
This syndrome is from a mutation of a gene on chromosome 15 and this causes problems in the
production of fibrillin 1 which is a protein that is an important part of connective tissue. The name for
the gene is FBN1. Basically, it is the glue that helps to support the tissues in the human body. A child
born to a parent with this syndrome has a 50% of having it. However, in the remaining 25%, neither
parent has the disease which gives them a 1 in 10,000 chance of having a child with this disorder.
When a child of two unaffected parents is born with it then the genetic mutation occurs in either the
egg or sperm cell at the time of conception.
The defect of this glue leads to phenotypes such as a thin, lanky build, flexible joints, sunken eyes, a
chest that is sunken in or bulges out, curvature of the spine to one side (scoliosis), and flat feet. There

Examples Of Outdated Things In The Outsiders
Although the book The Outsiders was published 50 years ago there are still things that are not timeless
but there are some things that are outdated. Some examples of timeless things are that we still have
gangs, and fighting. Also, some examples of outdated things are rumbles, escaping by a train, boys
home. All of these examples show that the book still relates to students every day. Some examples of
things that are timeless are that we still gangs, and stereotypical people. The whole book was based on
gangs, we still have gangs today some people can get really violent just like in the book. It says this in
the book I m not saying that either Socs or Greasers are better. (Hinton, 3) This shows that there are
two main gangs in the book the Greasers and the Socs. Not only are gangs timeless but also
stereotypical people are. People just assume things that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the book, the one really big event that everyone knew about was the rumble. The rumble is where
there is a really big fight where all of the gangs get together and fight each other. Today people don t
have rumbles people do fight most the time one on one or like a small group but not like that. It talks
about this on page 11 in the book A rumble, when it s called, is usually born of a grudge fight, and the
opponents just happen to bring their friends along. This helps you understand that in the Outsiders the
gang s did have rumbles. Another thing that is outdated in the book is escaping by a train. It is illegal
to do that today and it would be really hard to get away with that because of all of the high security. It
says that Johnny and Pony did this in the book The train slowed to a screaming halt. Now, whispered
Johnny. We ran and pulled ourselves into an open boxcar. (Hinton, 62) This quote shows that they

  • 2. Professional Learning Community Analysis Professional Learning Community is not a term I would use to describe my school. The textbook describes Professional Learning Communities as, ...one that promotes and values learning as an ongoing, active collaborative process with dynamic dialogue by teachers, students, staff, principal, parents, and the school community to improve the quality of learning and life within the school (Roberts Pruitt, 2009 p.6). Based on that description alone, as a school we lack the basic components of having a collaborative process with dialogue from the teachers, staff, and principal with the focus on improving the quality of learning. Given all of the research findings and positive reviews on the benefits of implementing Professional Learning Communities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some teachers are naturally hesitant to try new things, but I present the program as a trial run, the teachers know that if we implement something that s not working we will examine steps to fix it together. My principal does a great job with this, she listens to the teacher s ideas or suggestions and will find solutions to any problem. Next, I asked, What are some benefits and challenges of PLCs? Ms. Alexander paused and thought for a moment, the benefits are that teachers work together with a purpose, they talk about student learning, and the teachers share the same vision. The challenge is maintaining consistency across the board and motivating every teacher to stay committed. I have witnessed the challenge with maintaining consistency on a few occasions at my school. For instance, teachers were randomly grouped together for a teambuilding activity, in which teachers had to share with their group members common challenges they face every school year. The group members then developed a short list of tips or strategies that the teacher could use to remedy whatever challenges they were facing. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is one of the superb, oldest and longest bridges ever built in the world at the time it opened, spanning 1825m across east river connecting the Boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn in NY City. The most noticeable feature of the bridge is the two excessive towers, the 99 meter limestone granite towers overlook everything in view. The Brooklyn bridge was named The eight wonders of the world because of its iconic towers and length which have never seen before. Today, the Brooklyn bridge s towers are the landmark of the NY City and called to be classified as the national monuments. The Brooklyn bridge ... • 5. The Implementation Of The 21st Century Essay The implementation of the 21st century skills requires the development of the core academic subject its knowledge and understanding among all students. In the K 12 curriculum the development of scientifically, technologically, and environmentally literate and productive members of society who are critical problem solvers, responsible stewards of nature, innovative and creative citizens, informed decision makers and effective communicators is the Science curriculum goal. To carry out this goal, the teaching of science has to be done using inquiry based approach or inquiry based learning as the main teaching and learning strategy. Inquiry based learning or IBL has long been used as a teaching strategy in science, however, this strategy has been either misunderstood or misused by the implementers. First of all, it is often thought of that all laboratory activities and experiments are inquiry based. • 6. Evaluating the Success of America s Policy of Containment... Evaluating the Success of America s Policy of Containment American policy of containment refers to the foreign policy strategy of the US in the early years of the Cold war. The policy was to defeat the Soviet Union by preventing it from expanding the territories under its Communist control or otherwise extending its influence. This, naturally, resulted in strained relations and rivalry between the two superpowers. Despite the many difficulties, American policy of containment during the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War did manage to contain the expansion of Communism to a certain extent. The containment of communism in Korea was successful. The Korean War, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He revived the peace talks and an armistice was eventually signed with a demilitarized zone at the 38th parallel. The end of the Korean War proves the fact that America s policy of containing Communism was successful. However, America s policy of containing the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis was not so successful. In fact, it almost resulted in a nuclear war. The crisis was a tense confrontation between the Soviet Union and United States over the Soviet deployment of nuclear missiles in Cuba. The Cuban Missile Crisis began on October 14, 1962 and lasted until November 20, 1962. It could have resulted in a nuclear war. In April 1961, President Kennedy supplied arms, equipment and transport for some anti Castro exiles to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro. Castro had overthrown the American backed Batista. Reversely, the listed issues can be used to improve the risk control. The risk of unconsciously selling the wrong product to customers is strongly related to the risk of wrong or incomplete information for customers. On the one hand, salesmen do not receive clear instructions or are not properly informed about the products they sell. On the other hand, customers failed to double check policies they take out. This is due to misleading of salesmen, regardless whether unconsciously or not; individual sales material, which ought to be replaced by official display material of RA; and the total trust into salesmen. This risk is hard to control since it would indirectly suppose that RA s salesmen are not trustworthy. The impact of occurrence is rather low and its likelihood is medium. RA was dedicated to selling the right product, to the right client, in the right way (p.1. case RA Insurance Company). In addition, RA assures its customers of financial security and peace of mind (p.1. case RA Insurance Company). However, RA did not fully live up to those promise statements. Thus, it is of vital importance that people understand linguistic relativity and language ideologies in order to avoid misunderstandings and achieve effective intercultural communication. First of all, understanding linguistic relativity encourages people to pay attention to differences between various languages. How people perceive and experience the world around them can be influenced by language differences. (Piller, 2011) For example, people may act differently depending on what languages they are using. Another aspect of linguistic relativity is communicative relativity. A simple way to define communicative relativity is that people do different things with language differently . (Piller, 2011) On one hand, it is obvious that multilingual people tend to switch languages when talking to people from different cultures. On the other hand, differentiation in language can also take place in the monolingual situation. For instance, in the scene of debating, people may use a very different form of English than usual. Kyle Ritchie said that the words, tone, and even speaking styles used by myself and fellow debaters was purely for the performance . (reflection, May 1, 2017) This kind of choices of words and tone is aimed to be more professional and knowledgeable (reflection, May 1, 2017) Therefore, different ways of expression in various languages or even the same language can have a different effect on communication. To succeed in intercultural communication, it is necessary for individuals to understand the distinctive way each language has to perceive the world and express ideas and make right decisions of using language. In addition, in the intercultural communication, discrimination associated with language ideologies often exists. Language ideology refers to the views on each language, especially the idea about what a good language is and what is linguistically right . (Piller, 2011) Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By 1842 London was the modern mega city of the world. For some of her 2.5 million inhabitants it was an exciting, fashionable and thriving metropolis. Obscure laws that had become irrelevant in an industrial and post industrial era were fast being replaced, and despite its lack of existence at the beginning of the 1800 s, policing standards are, today, high. The necessity for this drastic change in approach to crime has stemmed from the needs of industrial Britain, and the increased awareness of the public, and government, and their perception of crime and punishment. In 1834, members of the Friendly Society of Agricultural Labourers were transported under an outdated law that prohibited the taking of oaths, when they protested for a better wage. Perhaps what brought the most sympathy for the case was the fact that their protest was peaceful, despite the history of violent protest among workers with riots and groups such as the Luddites. The authorities were equally unsympathetic to this case as they were to the other, more violent movements. Even after public interest attracted an 800,000 signature petition, protesters were oppressed at a demonstration in Oldham. The public was aware of the struggles of the poor worker, but the government still dismissed it; refusing to recognise the desperate circumstance of workers and citing greed as the motive of the Martyrs. Clearly the case had little impact on government opinions, with the treatment of the Chartists and the Rebecca Rioters later in the same decade being the same. But an important contribution of the Tolpuddle Martyrs case was the impact it had on public opinion, and the increased popularity of worker s unions. Unfortunately, Latin America s cultural progression did not spread and blossom as fast as other countries because they were colonized by the retrograded country of Spain. Due to the general conservatism in Iberian culture, Spain being the cause of that, Latin America did not follow the steps towards modernity, unlike French colonized countries. After the colonization period, Latin America spent its time conserving Spanish culture. The Iberian Peninsula culture did not have the same opening into the modernity that France had. It wasn t until the 1880 s through the 1910 s that modernismo , an anti nationalist literary movement, arose within Latin America itself, making it a homegrown movement. Modernismo was the rejuvenation of the Spanish language and its literature. Modernismo s literature boom allowed for the growth of other literature movements including that magical realism movement. The desire, would be to accomplish this without Russia knowing, which is rather unlikely, and therefore, we would be risking whether they might retaliate against the United States. For this plan to work, we need to assure the Ukraine of the strength of our alliance, and must be willing to enter further into the conflict to support Ukraine in the backlash from Russia. As to not do so could very well result in a Bay of Pigs situation. • 26. Irene Rademeyer Reflection I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Irene Rademeyer, LPT of 1945 Barcelona Drive. Dunedin, Fl. 34698. In talking with Ms. Rademeyer, I learned that she obtained her Physical Therapist license 43 years ago in 1972 (I. Rademeyer, personal communication, June 22, 2015). Ms. Rademeyer developed an interest in this profession from the influence of her mother who was a nurse. Although she did not want to follow directly in her mother s footsteps, she had a desire to help others in a medical capacity and the independence physical therapists have in managing the care of their patients appealed to her (Rademeyer, 2015). Ms. Rademeyer expressed that she had a desire to be able to change the lives of people by helping them to regain functionality and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rademeyer as well as others in the profession can influence the decisions of their patients by helping them to make the right choices in managing their lives on a physical basis, by helping them to modify their jobs, sports and other activities and by helping to ensure they follow the rehabilitation process laid out by their physicians (Rademeyer, 2015). Also by listening and educating the patients she can help patients better manage and control their conditions. Ms. Rademeyer views several determinants to help a patient access their care, these include, understanding their insurance guidelines, insuring that her business model adheres to the authorization and limitations of the patient s insurance plan, educating the patients and providing marketing and internet access which allow the patients to locate her services easily (Rademeyer, 2015). In regards to health care legislation, Ms. Rademeyer feels that the large restrictions and limitations on reimbursement has adversely affected the accessibility of comprehensive rehabilitation programs, thus putting more responsibility on the patients as well as the physical therapists (Rademeyer, 2015). She also feels that, even though the requirement for fees to be guided by outcome is a good opportunity for accountability in physical therapy services, there is a big need for balance between the limitations and the outcomes to avoid a negative impact on chances for full recovery of some patients (Rademeyer, ... (for example, expansion to California, Mid Western states and international markets) Product development: Using the plastic moulding skills, it can develop new or improved products that will appeal to the customers (for example, improved skylights to reduce heat loss). Hysteria In Hemingway s Big Two-Hearted River In her discussion of shell shock, Elaine Showalter writes, Men were silenced and immobilized and forced, like women, to express their conflicts through the body. Placed in intolerable circumstances of stress, and expected to react with unnatural courage, thousands of soldiers reacted instead with symptoms of hysteria (Showalter 171). In Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River: Part I, Nick Adams embodies this symptom of hysteria. His actions and interactions with his belongings and surroundings showcase different dimensions of his recollection of the intolerable circumstances which he faced in the Great War and the ways in which he seeks to choke his thoughts of the experience. Nick seeks nature as a source of distraction and recreation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nick ponders the timeframe of recovery for the grasshopper much as he must ponder the time it will take for his own mental state to return to normal. He realized that the fire must have come the year before, but the grasshoppers were all black now. He wondered how long they would stay that way (Hemingway 136). Even though they survived, these grasshoppers are scarred. The color black is notable here in its representation of death while also being connected with a living insect. Perhaps realizing the similarity between his own condition and that of the grasshopper, Nick wishes it well and says, Go on, hopper,... Fly away somewhere (Hemingway 136). This encouragement and interaction gives Nick hope that he can fly away from the struggles of his own life through camping and fishing, as he did in the past, and also by pushing thoughts of war from his mind. However, this moment of optimism is interrupted by the return of the heavy pack to his back. Nick stood up. He leaned his back against the weight of his pack where it rested upright on the stump and got his arms through the shoulder straps (Hemingway 136). Nick rises after his contemplation of flight only to feel the weight of his war experience back on his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Typographic Mind By Neil Postman In the beginning of chapter four, The Typographic Mind, Neil Postman delivers an impressive narrative argument about the impact of print information culture on 17th and 19th century minds. Postman makes a few claims with respect to the contrasts between the written and spoken word. In this essay, there are four qualities of the typographic mind: attention span, listening ability, knowledge of issues, and literary language. First, Postman discusses attention span in reference to America s first debate between Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln on August 21 1858. Attention span means the length of time during which a person can concentrate on a subject or idea. Postman first illustrates about people with disciplined minds who are able to attend and listen to a 4 5 hour lecture. People at that time can listen and gather information, so they are able to comprehend and structure sentences. One debate lasted three hours while another in 1858 went seven. Postman guarrateeds that Douglas and Lincoln who wrote speeches in advance are pure print and they have the power of typography to get the audience attention because their language was clear. The audiences who attended the debate must have had an equally extraordinary capacity to comprehend lengthy and complex sentences aurally (45). Much of it seemed either blindingly obvious, or like the moanings of a killjoy who can t bear that television is entertaining and that people are unable to process it through the ear , therefore ... Why I Want To Pursue A Juris Doctor Degree Growing up in a provincial Russian town with its small population, unique spirit and picturesque winding rivers, I yearned to learn and dreamed of foreign places where I could flourish. When I was a child, my parents worked long hours while I engulfed myself in American movies and dreamed of the possibilities that lay ahead. These movies showed me the freedom and opportunities that people of the United States had. I dedicated myself to become proficient in English, I rented movies with subtitles and signed up for a distant learning. Back then computers were not widely available and I anxiously awaited my correspondence by mail. My first time in a court room was watching him defending a young individual who was falsely accused of absconding because a probation officer went to a wrong door. While being in detention his mother passed away and he was not granted a furlough. The injustice I witnessed only furthered my resolve to become an attorney. Sadly, my friend passed away recently but his actions inspired me to advance more quickly to my goal. After researching multiple law schools, the faculty, resources, clinics, and externships at Barry University School of Law fit best my educational needs. Nowadays, the competitiveness of companies and the fight for customers, it s increasingly more and more difficult to attract and retain clients on their side. For this reason, companies must pay great attention and care to their employees, as they are the ones in constant contact with customers. This essay will talk about professionalism, particularly what constitutes professionalism, what are the consequences when employees do not follow the company s conduct for the big company such as Rolls Royce and will look at some of the facts how Rolls Royce deals with these kind of issues. Furthermore, I will reflect on the situation when acting as professional become an issue during the placement with Rolls Royce. The word professionalism is often referred to as person s attitude, behaviour , and capabilities in their job (Smith and McKeen, 2003). Maister (1997) explains, being professional does not necessary describes a person with a set of job qualifications, it is rather a label one have to earn in the eyes of others. So what describes true professionalism? There is no generally adopted norm of what constitutes professionalism, what defines professionalism in one company may not apply somewhere else, however, it is recognized that manners and appearance are inseparable part of it (Smith and McKeen, 2003). The Hyper V, Storage Tiering and DHCP for fault tolerance, IP availability which I will be going further in depth during the proposal. • 37. Taking a Look at Marfan Syndrome Marfan Syndrome, which is named after Antoine Marfan who first described the disorder in 1896, is a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissues found throughout the body. This syndrome can affect many different parts of the body, but the most commonly affected are the heart, blood vessels, bones, joints, respiratory system, nervous system, and eyes. Thankfully, a person s intelligence is never affected. Marfan syndrome affects people from all races and ethnic backgrounds, and this often makes it hard to detect. It is a pretty rare genetic disorder affecting only about 1 in every 5,000 people. This syndrome is from a mutation of a gene on chromosome 15 and this causes problems in the production of fibrillin 1 which is a protein that is an important part of connective tissue. The name for the gene is FBN1. Basically, it is the glue that helps to support the tissues in the human body. A child born to a parent with this syndrome has a 50% of having it. However, in the remaining 25%, neither parent has the disease which gives them a 1 in 10,000 chance of having a child with this disorder. When a child of two unaffected parents is born with it then the genetic mutation occurs in either the egg or sperm cell at the time of conception. The defect of this glue leads to phenotypes such as a thin, lanky build, flexible joints, sunken eyes, a chest that is sunken in or bulges out, curvature of the spine to one side (scoliosis), and flat feet. It talks about this on page 11 in the book A rumble, when it s called, is usually born of a grudge fight, and the opponents just happen to bring their friends along. This helps you understand that in the Outsiders the gang s did have rumbles. Another thing that is outdated in the book is escaping by a train. It is illegal to do that today and it would be really hard to get away with that because of all of the high security. It says that Johnny and Pony did this in the book The train slowed to a screaming halt. Now, whispered Johnny. We ran and pulled ourselves into an open boxcar.
