Atlanta s Migos
Do you know who the Migos are? While there are better rappers from Atlanta, they keep Atlanta
on the map do to their rapping because they influence on a lot of people, they made up their own
flow, and because their style is unique. Atlanta produced a lot off hot rappers including Gucci
Mane, Lil Yatchy, Rich Homie Quan, and Young Thug. A lot of these rappers influences many of
people to do good and bad things and these influences come from the lyrics and also the artist.
But most influential group of artist coming out of Atlanta Georgia is the Migos. No rapper in the
current moment has a more emulated flow (David). Each one of the rappers in Migos has an

were not in their lives anymore, which left Quavo s mother to watch and take care of them. In their
earlier years the three of them grew up together and began making beats and rapping to the beats
inspired by Gucci Mane, Outcast, and Hot Boyz and this all started in the 7th grade. It was not
until 2 years later when they found out they were actually good and thought they could go
somewhere with what they had going on. During their high school years they would record
music they made and pass out mixtapes in clubs all around Atlanta Georgia as the name Polo
Club. They would also buy the DJ a drink at the clubs in exchange to play one of their songs
which would be there most popular songs which was Bando . And this was when they were still

The Benefits Of Sign Language
Sounds are vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they
reach a person s or animal s ear. Some people are unable to hear these vibrations, they are either
deaf or hard of hearing. Sign Language is the use of facial expressions, fingerspelling, and gestures
that represent whole phrases or words used to communicate with deaf or hard of hearing people
used to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing citizens (lifeprint). All schools should teach
sign language as a foreign language.
Sign Language is the use of facial expressions, fingerspelling, and gestures that represent whole

Language is growing in use every day, as of 1972, it s used by 250,000 to 500,000 people in the
United States. Sign language is widely used to communicate with infants. Studies show that
learning Baby Sign Language has many developmental benefits including speaking earlier, having
a larger vocabulary, a +12 point IQ advantage over peers, as well as the ability to achieve better
grades in school. Being bilingual is useful in many jobs and careers such as social service agencies,
mental health clinics, government institutions, hospitals and clinics, hearing and speech agencies,
and in public and private schools. Some believe that teaching sign language in schools is

Slavoj Zizek Examined Life Essay
Ecology is akin to love. Love is a concept of acceptance, love is the ability to see beyond the
rights and wrongs, and love is not meant to stand on a pedestal. Correspondingly, countless of
aspects revolve around ecology and its nature. Frequently, people chop down trees for construction
and see it as a benefit to society, but people often forget the negative impacts that society falls into
once these trees fall. Identically, there are several misconceptions about waste and trash; for
instance, waste decomposes, but trash does not. In Examined Life, the continental philosopher
Slavoj Zizek further discusses the principles of ecology and how Modern Day America
conceptualize it. As an observer, people appreciate the authenticity of the information that is
conversed in a specific film, such as a documentary. This film exhibits the rhetorical appeal of ethos
because Zizek is ultimately a credible source. As a well rounded philosopher, people can trust and
confide in him. Apart from subjects about continental philosophy, Zizek also works on matters
relevant to political theory, cultural studies, psychoanalysis, film criticism, Marxism, Hegelianism,
and theology. As a professor at the New York University, Zizek educates his students about ecology,
mainly how it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is like, even when people assume trash disappears. Although most people dispose of what they
believe is garbage, Zizek realizes that there s beauty surrounding the world, even in a smelly
dumpster. For instance, in one of the scenes, Zizek showcased his discoveries of a tape, a page of

Wisconsin s Collective Bargaining Needs to End Essay
Lately in the news, there has been talk about budget and money crises; these problems have been
in many states and most recently in Washington D.C and Wisconsin. Governor of Wisconsin Scott
Walker has decided to address these budget predicaments by sharply curtailing the Wisconsin
public sector workers collective bargaining rights. The reaction from people in Wisconsin has
been mostly negative. However, Governor Walker was right in making cuts in the pay of public
sector workers and taking away their right to collective bargaining to help pay off the budget. The
state has a $137 million deficit, so curtailing collective bargaining rights will save the state $30
million in the current budget, which ends June first. Collective bargaining... Show more content on

There were state wide school cancellations; teachers would call in sick to take part in the protests.
Everyone involved in these demonstrations were all protesting the same issue: the fact that the
Governor of Wisconsin was going to take away their rights to collective bargaining; the irony of
this is that these protesters weren t also just from Wisconson, they were being sent in droves
from different states to support the union. The fear was that this could happen in their respective
states. He says that he needs to take this right away because in the upcoming biannual budget he
would be introducing there will be a $3.6 million deficit that will need to be bridged. He believes
that it will be essential in order to allow the state to actually balance its budget without laying
any workers off (video citation) The controversy behind this is that the people of Wisconsin
believe that if the Governor takes away collective bargaining, he will take away the rights of the
people, especially public sector workers, such as teachers and nurses. Governor Walker though is
correct in taking this drastic measure because the state currently has a $137 million deficit. They
need some way to bridge this deficit, so why not take out collective bargaining? Not all people
agree with this way of thinking. Representative Jan Schakowsky from Illinois wrote a statement on
February 17, saying that under the guise of addressing state

The International Expansion Into Shanghai
The Greek philosopher Heraclitus is commonly attributed with the idea that nothing is constant but
change (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 2011). This is particularly true in business. If an
organization is not changing and evolving with the market then they are stagnating and falling
behind. In this exercise XYZ, Inc. is pursuing an international expansion into Shanghai, China
followed by an expansion into four other international markets a year later. I believe XYZ, Inc.
should use the Systems Contingency Model to launch the international expansion in Shanghai
because this changemodel is complex enough to incorporate all the environmental requirements and
a good tool to highlight how the different internal dimensions of the... Show more content on

The second and most complex phase is the transformation phase. During transformation,
organizational leadership must follow through on the vision. This is where the hard work takes
place by creating, manufacturing, and finalizing the product before distribution (Weiss, 2012).
Leadership will need to adhere to the organization s vision and strategy while ensuring that
employees have the resources required to complete their assignments and respond to changing
requirements in the new environment. This includes secure supply lines and an anticipation of the
foreign commercial marketplace.
If leadership at XYZ, Inc. has done their job properly it will be reflected in the output phase.
Success will be shown at the organizational level by percentage of market share, product quality and
competitiveness. At the group level success will result in synergy, performance and effectiveness.
Finally, at the individual level success will find employee satisfaction, performance, and
development and growth (Weiss, 2012). That is to say that when everything is running as it should,
when all dimensions are in sync, the System contingency model shows success in short term change.
The long term, large scale change into the B.R.I.C. countries is more of a transformational change
in that it includes a shift in radically different markets that require a different strategy and skills
(Weiss, 2012). Leadership must

The Philip Defanco Show
For a week I chose to watch and compare The Rachel Maddow Show and The Philip DeFranco
Show. I had chosen to compare the two because they are both personality driven news shows,
with the similar format of one presenter and a skew towards a liberal political stance. These
similarities will allow me to more clearly see a difference in how I consume the content. The
format of the show hosted by Maddow, a cable news show on MSNBC, has remained for the most
part, static, it could have been produced 30 years ago to the same effect through television.
Whereas, DeFranco s show on YouTube would never have been able to exist in its capacity if it
were not for the internet. Clearly marking the distinction between old and new media to me.
I firstly noted that the news stories which were covering by the two sources were mainly different.
While DeFranco skewed more towards pop culture, Maddow was more focused on governmental
events. Both however, covered American politics and events. One intersecting story which occurred
during the week was that of Elizabeth Warren, the senator who was silenced during a debate on the

YouTube uses a similar model as television, advertisements, but in a completely different form.
Creators on YouTube are payed based on views, as the more people watch the content the more
advertisers are interested in investing, but this model is fluctuating and unreliable. To build a more
sustainable model, many creators turn to alternative forms of revenue. Philip DeFranco, for
example, has built a business model on selling merchandise, acquiring his own sponsors and
working with a larger multimedia company, Discovery Network. Therefore, in a sense new media
is still very much financially reliant on old media. Television shows such as The Rachel Maddow

Social Impact Of Ww1 Essay
What impact did WW1 have on the Australian home front? World War I was a global war based
in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. The Australian
Imperial Force (AIF) had great involvement in the war, serving as part of the British Empire. In
Australia, or the Australian home front the war had major impact, in many aspects of the
Australian society. Conscription was a social impact of WWI, The Enemy Within was a social
impact of WWI and women were a social impact of WWI. Conscription was a social impact of

Call to Arms to all men aged 18 to 45: ..if you love your country, if you love your freedom, the take

used to entice enough men to enlist. Many urged the government to introduce conscription, but
Australia had a federal Labor government in power at the time, whose platform disapproved of
conscription. Labor supporters thought it unfair that there be conscription of working men when
there was no conscription of the wealth and privileged. In 1916, after returning from seeing the
devastation on the Western Front, Hughes was convinced that Australia should introduce

proposal was narrowly defeated. Conscription split the Labor Government. Hughes, with twenty

behavioral, psychological, and sociological approaches to behavior management. Compare two of
these approaches and explain how their perspectives are similar or different with regard to behavior,

This candidate believes that the behavioral approach and the psychoanalytic approaches have a few

Deconstruction of The Jade Peony Essay
Elements of Fiction Assignment
Plot
The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy is about a Chinese immigrant family struggling to adapt to their
new unfamiliar lifestyle in Vancouver. As the older children begin to neglect Chinese customs
and become accustomed to the Canadian culture, 8 years old Sek Lung is the only child
interested in Grandma s traditional customs. Sek Lung accompanies Grandma as looks for
abandoned fragments of glass and metal to finish her precious wind chime before she passes. As
Sek Lung spends time bonding with Grandma, she also reveals her past and first love the juggler .

However, in some moments you are able to observe Grandma s inner feelings But Grandmama
shook her head, for she knew it was a sign. (116).
Flashback throughout the story to show that Grandma has passed leaving Sek Lung with her most
important possession, the jade peony symbolizes their strong bond and love. Another significant
symbolism used is the white cat with the pink eyes; it symbolizes that grandma will soon be
reunited spiritually with her first love, the albino juggler.
The white cat was also used to foreshadow the passing away of Grandma. Foreshadowing was
used to allow the audience to realize that Grandma would still make an impression even after her
death. I will always be with you, Little Sek Lung, but in a different way... you ll see. (115).
Sek Lung and Grandma deal with person versus person external conflict, the family who
misunderstand their intentions for looking in garbage cans and find learning Chinese culture to be
bothersome. The parents and children are also struggling to become accepted by the Canadian
community, this is an example of person versus society conflict. In Jade Peony , Sek Lung and
Grandma have a strong connection and close relationship. This is situational irony because
generally the oldest and youngest oppose each other due to cultural differences and changes.

An analysis of the effectiveness of population based screening for breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the leading cause of death due to cancer in women, with statistics from the USA
showing that one in eight women will develop the disease.1 Studies in the UK show that 90% of
women diagnosed in the early stages survive the disease, while this figure is only 15% if
diagnosed at a later stage illustrating the importance of an effective screening programme to reduce
mortality.2 In the following essay I will review various randomised control studies and cohort

With the majority of tumours being slow growing it has been established from various studies that
biennial screening is the most effective time frame. This is due to the identification of slow
growing tumours at an early enough stage for recovery and at the same time ensures a reduced rate
of false positives compared to annual mammograms.5 In addition, since the proportion of DCIS is
highest in younger women, screen detection of DCIS that may not be clinically significant could
be considered a further harm. 5 Therefore it is the woman s prerogative whether the risk of cancer
outweighs the possibility of coming into contact with the aforementioned harms.
With the implementation of mammograms as a population based screening program the targeted
population must be scrutinised, because although it is common practice for women over 40 to be
covered by health insurance for mammograms there are increasing numbers of women below that
age with breast cancer.

How to Classify Toxicants
In essence, toxicology is the science of poison, toxicants, or toxins. A poison toxicant, or toxic is a
substance capable of causing harm when administered to an organism. Harm is defined as seriously
injuring or causing the death of an organism. The term toxicant can be a synonym for poison, or the
term poison might be appropriate for the most potent substances. The term toxin usually refers to a
poison derived from a protein or conjugated protein produced by some higher plant, animal, or
pathogenic bacteria that is highly poisonous for other living organism. Food toxicology deals with
substances found in food that might be harmful to those who consume sufficient quantities of the
food containing such substances. Toxicants can be classified according to five categories. First
category is based on their chemical structure, for example, aromatic amines (aniline), halogenated
hydrocarbons (PCBs, and methylene chloride). Second category is based on their usage such as
pesticides (atrazine), solvents (benzene) and food additives (saccharin). Other category is according
to their physical state like gases (carbon monoxide), liquids (methanol) and solids (asbestos).
Besides that toxicants also classified based on their toxic effect like mutagens (diethylnitrosamine),
and hepatotoxins (chloroform). Lastly, toxicants are classified based on their biochemical
mechanism of a toxic effect such as cholinesterase inhibitors (malathion) and methemoglobin
forming substances (nitrite). Food

Uncanny In The Sand-Man By Sigmund Freud
Out of Sigmund Freud s many definitions of the word uncanny, I found the definition of the
uncanny as something hidden, not known, or withheld from others the most intriguing (223). In
The Sand Man, Hoffman purposefully keeps the audience in the dark through his use of the letter
format and Nathanael s ignorance and hallucinations in order to retain the readers attention.
Upon starting The Sand Man, any reader would notice the letter style narrative, which serves to
drive the story onward through the reader s curiosity. By telling the part of the story through the
character s correspondence, Hoffman limits the amount of information the audience can receive.
Take, for example, the very first letter from Nathanael, it was only meant for Lothair, meaning
Nathanael was trying to hide information from the other characters. Nathanael even ends the
letter by telling Lothair not to say anything to Nathaniel s mother and that he will write to Clara
when he has a somewhat calmer frame of mind. (9). This deliberate action of obscuring the truth
is Freud s very definition of uncanny. In addition, even if a character is willing to express his or
her account, it will no doubt be influenced by his or her emotions and memories that may or may
not be completely accurate. Describing Coppelius as hideous, cat like, and distorted in surprising
and suspicious detail, Nathanael seems like a rather unreliable narrator (5). Not only was this
memory from his childhood and therefore

afraid to speak up because of public s poor ideology toward people with disability. However it

Natural Resources throughout the World
All that glitters is not gold.
Right is still right, even if nobody is doing it. And wrong is still wrong, even everybody is doing
it. Texas Ranger saying.
No doubt, Pakistan is among those few countries which are rich in natural resources. But merely a
plenty of natural resources does not assure the promised prosperity for a country. There is always
something concealed behind the apparent opportunity, but what matters here is that we do not
bother to unveil those glittering chances and opportunities that can be efficiently selected and
chose for future prospects as well. Pakistan is one of the developing countries, blessed with a
plenty of natural resources but sometimes blessings can also become a curse not by the supreme
power of Allah but by the human err and wrong decisions. Sometimes, natural resource becomes a
curse for developing countries and can be termed as paradox of plenty. Such countries tend to have
less economic growth and worse development outcomes because natural resource curse causes
conflicts, bad governance and stagnant economic growth. Instead being a blessing, such natural
resources have an adverse impact on an economy of a country.

Ethics Of Drones Essay
Drones or unmanned aircraft are like a hammer or gun. They are tools. They are not inherently
good or bad. How they are used becomes the ethical issue at hand. Drones have a broad spectrum
of wage; from the delivery of pizza, to weather forecasting, to weapons platforms in armed
conflict. It is the purpose of this paper to show the use of drones in warfare is necessary and can
be ethically justified using the principles of both deontology and utilitarianism. The fact that drones
are remotely controlled, sometimes from great distances, does not remove the operators from
responsibility, no more than the bullet fired from a gun, it is still the responsibility of the soldier

Deontology would say that it, is the pilot s choice to attack a known target or no to attack a
known target. Michael Bergmann advises this would be distinction between objective and

choices the pilot believes they are in possession of, versus the reality of the choices they
ultimately have. Deontologicaly speaking the pilot would only be held responsible for the good
or wrongness of their actions alone. For example, if a pilot controlling a drone was sent to back
up allied troops pinned down by enemy fire and fired two missiles with the first missile striking
and neutralizing the enemy combatants. This would be a good thing. However if that second
missile missed the target and hit a building where it is unknown if the occupant inside are hostile,
it is still a justified use of the drone to defeat an enemy and the drone pilot would not held

Rational Choice Theory Versus Social Control Theory
Rational choice theory and social control theory both show why an individual may commit a
criminal act, but they both also draw criticism of their approach. Rational choice theory critics point
out that The first problem with the theory has to do with explaining collective action. That is, if
individuals simply base their actions on calculations of personal profit, why would they ever choose
to do something that will benefit others more than themselves? (Crossman, 2015). The theory
focuses only on the individual s mindset and doesn t take into account any of their social structure.
The society an individual grows up in may make them more prone to commit crime. Social control

After that, I understood that the true message of the film was to show the reality after the World

makes it unique, since it transmits lots of different feelings to its audience, even when it was shot
in black and white. It keeps watching the film since the beginning to the end; it makes people
reflect about everything in their life since the perspective of what life truly is about makes the film

How Did The Beatles Impact Society
The Beatles was a revolutionary 1960 s rock and roll band that inspired other bands and society
with their image and their music during the era of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The band included
Ringo Starr, drummer and singer, George Harrison, lead guitarist and singer, Paul Mccartney, bass
guitarist and singer, and John Lennon, rhythm guitarist and singer. The four men created the band
in 1960, and gained popularity very quickly. They first became popular in the U.K., but after time
they started to become popular in America, starting the British invasion. Soon after their popularity
grew in America, the Beatlesbecame one of the best rock and roll bands of their time, and
eventually the best of all time. They impacted society with their image and their music, and they

Viking Women Played A Big Part On Viking Society
Viking women played a big part on Viking society. They were treated with respect by the men in
her society. The Viking women s life was usually quite good. They were granted many
privileges, even though the women were treated well and granted a lot of things they were not
allowed to join raids or any trading adventure. They were also not permitted to do many other
things such as; having short hair, carrying swords, or axes, and were not allowed to dress as any
man would. When the men travelled they where expected to work on the farm, cook, prepare
food, manage the stock levels in winter, smoke the fish and meats, make broth, bake bread,
produce Ale, make clothes and keep the family healthy. The women would grow up just like the
men of her village learning to live off the land and be self sufficient. In Viking community the
girl was expected to marry between the ages of 12 and 15, run a household and have children of
their own. Most marriages where arranged but some girls got to pick who would be their
husband if they were lucky. In the marriage the women would have much responsibility and
could divorce her husband if she pleased. If the family was poor and had no slaves or servants
the men and women s work would be fairly even and the women would have to do a lot more
than the richer women. If the family did own slaves or servants the women could fire the servant

The procurement process
The procurement life cycle can be made up into 13 key stages. The stages I am going to follow the
CIPS stages of procurement and supply management. (Cips.org, 2017)
(Cips.org, 2017)
Stage 1
The first stage of the process is to understand and define the buyer s needs. This is where the
procurement department need to recognize that a product is needed in order to purchase it. This
needs to be done with a high level specification which can be achieved by using a variety of
stakeholders. This stage is where all the requirements for the product need be identified.
Stage 2
The second stage is market/commodity this needs to be taken place after the buyer has got the
buyer needs to a high specification to ensure that at this stage the right product is chosen. At this
stage the procurement department need to research all options available within the market. By
getting an estimate of what is on the current market, it enables the buyer to pick out potential
suppliers also familiarising the buyer with the competition in the market. This is also the stage
where the procurement department would be able to look into conducting an analysis on how they
are going to achieve the product i.e. make or purchase it/ utilize the service. By conducting market
research it gives stakeholders a clear picture of the market.
Stage 3
The third stage is developing the plan. Once the specification has been

Compare And Contrast The Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s...
Bacon s Rebellion and the Salem Witch Trials were significant events that occurred in the
seventeenth century where members of the upper class imposed unfair treatment upon the lower
class. Bacon s Rebellion occurred in Virginia in 1676 when Nathaniel Bacon became frustrated
with the governor s response to issues regarding Indian frontierland and disputes between Native
Americans and the settlers. The Salem Witch Trials took place between 1692 and 1693 and
involved the persecution of certain women who were accused of witchcraft. Although Bacon s
Rebellion and the Salem Witch Trials dealt with vastly different issues, the classes of people who
were targeted or ignored (i.e. lower class citizens) were the same, and both had effects on the
relations among colonists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bacon s Rebellion occurred because the lower class felt as though the governor did not support
colonists concerns about Native American attacks on frontier settlements, and did not support
colonists desires to obtain more land. The upper class Virginians traded with the Native
Americans, and did not see an issue in having them close by. The dismissive behavior exhibited
by the upper class regarding the concerns of the lower class created frustration amongst the lower
class, and as a result, they violently rebelled. The Salem Witch Trials were triggered by young
girls guardians, who claimed that the girls were possessed by the devil. Vulnerable, lower class,
impoverished women associated with Salem s flourishing economy were tried because of
speculation. These trials ceased when governor s wife was questioned for possibly being involved
in witchcraft. Following the false accusations involving the governor s wife, many of the falsely
accused witches were released from jail, although, sadly, many had already been

Improving Quality Of Cameras On Mobile Devices Essay
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Purpose of Plan
With the increasing quality of cameras on mobile devices, imaging document pages as an
alternative to scanning is becoming more feasible. However, camera captured document images
may suffer from degradations arising from the image acquisition process. In the presence of such
distortions, the ability to automatically assess the quality of captured images is also becoming
increasingly desirable.
In this project, our aim is to exhibit a detailed study of the types and sources of document image
degradations and then review the techniques for document image degradation. At the end, we
discuss some measures and conduct experiments that are used to characterize document image
quality.
1.2 Background Information
Optical character recognition (OCR) is the process of converting the text of a document image into
a format that can be easily edited by a computer. It is widely used as a form of data entry from
printed paper data records, whether passport documents, invoices, bank statement, receipts, business
card, mail, or other documents. There are many commercial OCR systems available, however, most
of the time, poor quality printed documents yield low recognition rates when submitted to them.
It is the most common method of converting printed texts into digital form so that it can be
electronically edited, searched, stored more easily, and used in machine processes such as machine
translation, text to speech, key data and text mining. OCR is a

The Discovery Of The Higgs Boson
The universe is weird. Its positively maddening how, despite knowing so much, we humans only
know four percent of all the knowable stuff the universe has to tell. New discoveries are being
made every day about multitudes of subjects. Cures for diseases, new background into the first
organisms to inhabit the planet, and new advances in personal technology occur so often that it
may be difficult to be shocked by the world around us. However every so often a discovery is
made, and an experiment goes perfectly right. The discovery of the Higgs Boson is that
experiment. Well, metaphorically speaking it is. The universe and science lend themselves well to
hyperbole however the truth is never so simple. The Higgs Boson is the fundamental particle that
gives everything mass. The standard modelof physics depends on the Higgs Bosons existence. The
Standard Model is an explanation for how the building blocks of the universe interact with
matter(CERN Accelerating Science, The Standard Model). According to the Standard Model, All
matter is made of elementary particles. Elementary particles are the building blocks of matter and
are separated into two groups, Leptons and Quarks. Both Leptons and Quarks contain groups and
generations. The groups, containing six particles each, are related in pairs known as generations.
Quarkgenerations are broken up in three pairs. Up and Down Quark, Charm and Strange Quark,
and Top and Bottom Quark. Leptons are also grouped in three generations.

Human Condition Research Paper
Condition The Self cannot be pierced or burned, made wet or dry. It is everlasting and infinite,
standing on the motionless foundations of eternity. The Self is unmanifested, beyond all thought,
beyond all change. Knowing this, you should not grieve (Gita 2:24 25). The human condition is
described as ignorance of identity in that humans do not understand their divine nature. An
example was given in terms of the seeds of the banyan tree. The seeds of the tree can be seen but
within the seeds nothing can be seen yet the banyan tree comes from this nothingness. It is the
same in terms of people. People cannot perceive the divinity within themselves yet it is from this
divinity that everything exists. This is known as Maya. It is stated that one believes he is the
slayer, another believes he is the slain. Both are ignorant; there is neither slayer nor slain. You were
never born; you will never die. You have never changed; you can never change. Unborn, eternal,
immutable, immemorial, you do not die when the body dies. Realizing that which is indestructible,
eternal, unborn, and unchanging, how can you slay or cause another to slay (Gita 2:19 20).
Essentially, people align themselves with worldly identities instead of realizing they are the
universe and the universe is them. Instead of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An Analysis Of The Absurd In Joseph Heller s Catch-22
In the novel Catch 22, Joseph Heller presents the absurd as a completely normal and usual
occurrence in Yossarian s tumultuous world. Throughout the course of the novel, he develops
each character around their response to this absurdity Dunbar does boring things to make the
time pass slower and to live longer, Orr practices crash landing his planes so that he can fake his
death to escape, and Nately finds love with a prostitute to keep his mind away from the
ridiculousness of it all. Overall, Heller s absurd novel mainly serves to display the individual s
right to seek survival despite the rules set on them by society. Catch 22takes place within an
authoritative military environment, led by one principle: the Catch 22, an excuse for everything...

Gun Control Vs Gun Control
America is a special case of male violence dictated by circumstance and society. In no other country
is individualism as fetishized and reified into the national identity. The subtext of the American
Dream is a story of one person pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. The measure of one s
success is calculated by the difference between the start and end points. Ultimately, the necessity of
individual accomplishment undercuts cooperation and nonviolent success. Today more than ever
we have the ability to self segregate from society, and become trapped in an echo chamber of fear.

This lack of empathy could easily have manifested itself in acts of physical violence, as one in five
prison inmates are sociopaths as well. In a society that defines business interaction as simulated
war, can we be surprised when we fill our businesses with people who advance their self interest?
The system is not inherently designed to reward violence, but the trend towards competition
compounds on itself due to humanity s intense grudge memory. In general, because of the extreme
rewards for competition, it will be hard to turn the opposite direction through merely bringing the
point of male violence to light. The ultimate issue with Wrangham s proposal has nothing to do
with the validity of his scientific research, but with the basic value of introducing his ideas into
our society at all. As a general rule, public understanding of science is a societal benefit. That
being said, introduction of certain ideas can be dangerous when facts are misinterpreted. In the
case of Demonic Males, there is a fine line between accepting the genetic roots of violence and
constraining the existence of free will. The more emphasis that is placed on the instinct and
evolutionary benefits of violence, the easier it is for perpetrators of violence to disown their
actions. In addition, many studies have been conducted on how our understanding of free will can

Increased supply without changes to the demand creates a surplus leading to a lower equilibrium
price and decreased supply. Without changes to the demand, our coststructure would lead to a
higher equilibrium price due to shortage.
Issues and Opportunities
Companies use price elasticity as a tool to identify the overall change in supply or demand of a
product compared to the movement of price. When deciding to market a new product like The
Globe, we discussed what the price should be. We use elasticity of demand to determine whether
our profits will go up or down if we set a lower price than the current price of the Roku. Since
there are other possible alternatives for our consumers to choose from when it comes to streaming
devices, it is very important that our product meet the needs of our potential buyers.
One issue that we may come across when it comes to technological innovation is if The Globe is
non compatible with Apple products. Since these days most consumers have at least one Apple
product it is very important that we design the Globe to be able to use the airplay function from
compatible Apple devices. Currently, most Blu ray/DVD s offer a free digital copy of a movie that
viewers can download onto their iTunes account. Currently, the Roku is incompatible with iTunes,
so consumers are missing that feature if they decide to go with the Roku. We must make sure that

The often seen depictions of damsels in distress are part of an issue that is seen even in modern
literature and media. More often than not in society, men are the ones expected to rescue the
women, despite the fact that women can be just as heroic in not only literature, but in real life.
This often discourages girls from being too independent or bold, lest they be socially shunned
for being boyish. In her article, The Katniss Conundrum: Is She Okay for Kids? Mary Pols
confirms that Everdeen is an exemplary role model for young people. She argues, There is so

Edgar Allan Poe Writing Style
Edgar Allan Poe s life was filled with tragedy, everybody he really loved died of tuberculosis or
left him. He constantly was rejected in his life and really never found someone who truly
understood him. Poe s mother died when he was three and his father left him, So Poe had some
traumatic experiences at a young age. Poe and his sister were later adopted by the Allen family
and moved to England. Poe later joined the military and started to write. Later he married his
thirteen year old cousin who died of tuberculosis. He then went on to marry two more women, but
one left him and he died on his last wife. Poe s life was constantly filled with death and
disappointment which explains his vivid styleof writing. His traumatic life is explained through his
dark writing, and the way he explains the story. Poe s vivid writing style is constantly shown
through his unique literary techniques.
One literary device Poe uses to show his vivid style is imagery. In Poe s short story The Cask of
Amontillado , he describes the antagonist (Fortunato) as he greets him, He accosted me with
excessive warmth, for he had been drinking too much. (234) Since Poe s writing is so vivid in
the detail, the imagery in this quote can almost make the reader feel how Fortunato is greeting
him. The reader can almost feel Fortunato s warmth and smell the alcohol. Poe also uses his
imagery to make the reader imagine the area he is in. In the same short story Poe describes the
catacomb that he is in as,

Realist And Unreal Elements In Jane Eyre

One might be quick to categorise Jane Eyre as a supernatural novel at first glance and perhaps if
they read into it a little more might decide that it is in fact a realist novel. There are many events in
the book to be explored however before we can say for sure it is one or the other. These are used
to advance the action, to keep the reader engaged and hungry for more and to foreshadow future

Besides Rochester s infatuation we see other references to Jane as a supernatural creature. In the
Red Room when she passes the looking glass we see her comment on the strange little figure
there gazing at me, with a white face and arms specking the gloom, and glittering eyes of fear
moving where all else was still... . This seems to be a subconscious understanding in young Jane
that she is not the same as those around her and indeed as an orphan with no money this is
certainly the case. The Vampyre Bertha and the Spirit Jane are two heads of the same coin and
Bronte uses fantasy and fairytale to show this to us. Furthermore this connection could be
interpreted as subtle foreshadowing for the emergence of Bertha that may only be caught on a

  • 4. Slavoj Zizek Examined Life Essay Ecology is akin to love. Love is a concept of acceptance, love is the ability to see beyond the rights and wrongs, and love is not meant to stand on a pedestal. Correspondingly, countless of aspects revolve around ecology and its nature. Frequently, people chop down trees for construction and see it as a benefit to society, but people often forget the negative impacts that society falls into once these trees fall. Identically, there are several misconceptions about waste and trash; for instance, waste decomposes, but trash does not. In Examined Life, the continental philosopher Slavoj Zizek further discusses the principles of ecology and how Modern Day America conceptualize it. As an observer, people appreciate the authenticity of the information that is conversed in a specific film, such as a documentary. This film exhibits the rhetorical appeal of ethos because Zizek is ultimately a credible source. As a well rounded philosopher, people can trust and confide in him. Wisconsin s Collective Bargaining Needs to End Essay Lately in the news, there has been talk about budget and money crises; these problems have been in many states and most recently in Washington D.C and Wisconsin. Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker has decided to address these budget predicaments by sharply curtailing the Wisconsin public sector workers collective bargaining rights. The reaction from people in Wisconsin has been mostly negative. However, Governor Walker was right in making cuts in the pay of public sector workers and taking away their right to collective bargaining to help pay off the budget. The state has a $137 million deficit, so curtailing collective bargaining rights will save the state $30 million in the current budget, which ends June first. Collective bargaining... The fear was that this could happen in their respective states. Governor Walker though is correct in taking this drastic measure because the state currently has a $137 million deficit. In this exercise XYZ, Inc. is pursuing an international expansion into Shanghai, China followed by an expansion into four other international markets a year later. This includes secure supply lines and an anticipation of the foreign commercial marketplace. If leadership at XYZ, Inc. has done their job properly it will be reflected in the output phase. These similarities will allow me to more clearly see a difference in how I consume the content. The format of the show hosted by Maddow, a cable news show on MSNBC, has remained for the most part, static, it could have been produced 30 years ago to the same effect through television. Whereas, DeFranco s show on YouTube would never have been able to exist in its capacity if it were not for the internet. Clearly marking the distinction between old and new media to me. I firstly noted that the news stories which were covering by the two sources were mainly different. While DeFranco skewed more towards pop culture, Maddow was more focused on governmental events. A poison toxicant, or toxic is a substance capable of causing harm when administered to an organism. Harm is defined as seriously injuring or causing the death of an organism. The term toxicant can be a synonym for poison, or the term poison might be appropriate for the most potent substances. The term toxin usually refers to a poison derived from a protein or conjugated protein produced by some higher plant, animal, or pathogenic bacteria that is highly poisonous for other living organism. Food toxicology deals with substances found in food that might be harmful to those who consume sufficient quantities of the food containing such substances. Toxicants can be classified according to five categories. First category is based on their chemical structure, for example, aromatic amines (aniline), halogenated hydrocarbons (PCBs, and methylene chloride). Second category is based on their usage such as pesticides (atrazine), solvents (benzene) and food additives (saccharin). Other category is according to their physical state like gases (carbon monoxide), liquids (methanol) and solids (asbestos). Besides that toxicants also classified based on their toxic effect like mutagens (diethylnitrosamine), and hepatotoxins (chloroform). Lastly, toxicants are classified based on their biochemical mechanism of a toxic effect such as cholinesterase inhibitors (malathion) and methemoglobin forming substances (nitrite). Food ... • 14. Uncanny In The Sand-Man By Sigmund Freud Out of Sigmund Freud s many definitions of the word uncanny, I found the definition of the uncanny as something hidden, not known, or withheld from others the most intriguing (223). In The Sand Man, Hoffman purposefully keeps the audience in the dark through his use of the letter format and Nathanael s ignorance and hallucinations in order to retain the readers attention. Upon starting The Sand Man, any reader would notice the letter style narrative, which serves to drive the story onward through the reader s curiosity. By telling the part of the story through the character s correspondence, Hoffman limits the amount of information the audience can receive. Take, for example, the very first letter from Nathanael, it was only meant for Lothair, meaning Nathanael was trying to hide information from the other characters. Nathanael even ends the letter by telling Lothair not to say anything to Nathaniel s mother and that he will write to Clara when he has a somewhat calmer frame of mind. (9). This deliberate action of obscuring the truth is Freud s very definition of uncanny. In addition, even if a character is willing to express his or her account, it will no doubt be influenced by his or her emotions and memories that may or may not be completely accurate. Describing Coppelius as hideous, cat like, and distorted in surprising and suspicious detail, Nathanael seems like a rather unreliable narrator (5). The Viking women s life was usually quite good. They were granted many privileges, even though the women were treated well and granted a lot of things they were not allowed to join raids or any trading adventure. They were also not permitted to do many other things such as; having short hair, carrying swords, or axes, and were not allowed to dress as any man would. When the men travelled they where expected to work on the farm, cook, prepare food, manage the stock levels in winter, smoke the fish and meats, make broth, bake bread, produce Ale, make clothes and keep the family healthy. The women would grow up just like the men of her village learning to live off the land and be self sufficient. In Viking community the girl was expected to marry between the ages of 12 and 15, run a household and have children of their own. Most marriages where arranged but some girls got to pick who would be their husband if they were lucky. In the marriage the women would have much responsibility and could divorce her husband if she pleased. If the family was poor and had no slaves or servants the men and women s work would be fairly even and the women would have to do a lot more than the richer women. The stages I am going to follow the CIPS stages of procurement and supply management. This is where the procurement department need to recognize that a product is needed in order to purchase it. This needs to be done with a high level specification which can be achieved by using a variety of stakeholders. This stage is where all the requirements for the product need be identified. Stage 2 The second stage is market/commodity this needs to be taken place after the buyer has got the buyer needs to a high specification to ensure that at this stage the right product is chosen. At this stage the procurement department need to research all options available within the market. By getting an estimate of what is on the current market, it enables the buyer to pick out potential suppliers also familiarising the buyer with the competition in the market. This is also the stage where the procurement department would be able to look into conducting an analysis on how they are going to achieve the product i.e. make or purchase it/ utilize the service. • 26. Compare And Contrast The Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s... Bacon s Rebellion and the Salem Witch Trials were significant events that occurred in the seventeenth century where members of the upper class imposed unfair treatment upon the lower class. Bacon s Rebellion occurred in Virginia in 1676 when Nathaniel Bacon became frustrated with the governor s response to issues regarding Indian frontierland and disputes between Native Americans and the settlers. The Salem Witch Trials took place between 1692 and 1693 and involved the persecution of certain women who were accused of witchcraft. Although Bacon s Rebellion and the Salem Witch Trials dealt with vastly different issues, the classes of people who were targeted or ignored (i.e. lower class citizens) were the same, and both had effects on the relations among colonists.... Bacon s Rebellion occurred because the lower class felt as though the governor did not support colonists concerns about Native American attacks on frontier settlements, and did not support colonists desires to obtain more land. The upper class Virginians traded with the Native Americans, and did not see an issue in having them close by. The dismissive behavior exhibited by the upper class regarding the concerns of the lower class created frustration amongst the lower class, and as a result, they violently rebelled. The Salem Witch Trials were triggered by young girls guardians, who claimed that the girls were possessed by the devil. Vulnerable, lower class, impoverished women associated with Salem s flourishing economy were tried because of speculation. • 27. Improving Quality Of Cameras On Mobile Devices Essay INTRODUCTION 1.1 Purpose of Plan With the increasing quality of cameras on mobile devices, imaging document pages as an alternative to scanning is becoming more feasible. However, camera captured document images may suffer from degradations arising from the image acquisition process. In the presence of such distortions, the ability to automatically assess the quality of captured images is also becoming increasingly desirable. In this project, our aim is to exhibit a detailed study of the types and sources of document image degradations and then review the techniques for document image degradation. At the end, we discuss some measures and conduct experiments that are used to characterize document image quality. 1.2 Background Information Optical character recognition (OCR) is the process of converting the text of a document image into a format that can be easily edited by a computer. It is widely used as a form of data entry from printed paper data records, whether passport documents, invoices, bank statement, receipts, business card, mail, or other documents. There are many commercial OCR systems available, however, most of the time, poor quality printed documents yield low recognition rates when submitted to them. It is the most common method of converting printed texts into digital form so that it can be electronically edited, searched, stored more easily, and used in machine processes such as machine translation, text to speech, key data and text mining. However every so often a discovery is made, and an experiment goes perfectly right. The discovery of the Higgs Boson is that experiment. Well, metaphorically speaking it is. The universe and science lend themselves well to hyperbole however the truth is never so simple. The Higgs Boson is the fundamental particle that gives everything mass. The standard modelof physics depends on the Higgs Bosons existence. The Standard Model is an explanation for how the building blocks of the universe interact with matter(CERN Accelerating Science, The Standard Model). According to the Standard Model, All matter is made of elementary particles. Elementary particles are the building blocks of matter and are separated into two groups, Leptons and Quarks. Both Leptons and Quarks contain groups and generations. The groups, containing six particles each, are related in pairs known as generations. Quarkgenerations are broken up in three pairs. • 29. Human Condition Research Paper Condition The Self cannot be pierced or burned, made wet or dry. It is everlasting and infinite, standing on the motionless foundations of eternity. The Self is unmanifested, beyond all thought, beyond all change. Knowing this, you should not grieve (Gita 2:24 25). The human condition is described as ignorance of identity in that humans do not understand their divine nature. An example was given in terms of the seeds of the banyan tree. The seeds of the tree can be seen but within the seeds nothing can be seen yet the banyan tree comes from this nothingness. It is the same in terms of people. People cannot perceive the divinity within themselves yet it is from this divinity that everything exists. This is known as Maya. It is stated that one believes he is the slayer, another believes he is the slain. Both are ignorant; there is neither slayer nor slain. You were never born; you will never die. You have never changed; you can never change. Unborn, eternal, immutable, immemorial, you do not die when the body dies. Realizing that which is indestructible, eternal, unborn, and unchanging, how can you slay or cause another to slay (Gita 2:19 20). In a society that defines business interaction as simulated war, can we be surprised when we fill our businesses with people who advance their self interest? The system is not inherently designed to reward violence, but the trend towards competition compounds on itself due to humanity s intense grudge memory. In general, because of the extreme rewards for competition, it will be hard to turn the opposite direction through merely bringing the point of male violence to light. The ultimate issue with Wrangham s proposal has nothing to do with the validity of his scientific research, but with the basic value of introducing his ideas into our society at all. As a general rule, public understanding of science is a societal benefit. That being said, introduction of certain ideas can be dangerous when facts are misinterpreted. In the case of Demonic Males, there is a fine line between accepting the genetic roots of violence and constraining the existence of free will. The more emphasis that is placed on the instinct and evolutionary benefits of violence, the easier it is for perpetrators of violence to disown their actions.
