Observation Paper On Child Development
Observation Paper A unique opportunity was presented to me as I prepared to complete the
observation or interview paper for HDFS 225. We have close friends who have a fourteen year old son
with Down syndrome and I was given permission to spend time with Jason (not his real name) over a
weekend and this enabled me to observe an adolescent male who happens to be a special needs child.
The adolescent period of human development interests me since this stage in life presents significant
changes and is considered to be some of the most critical and challenging years in human
development. The addition of the documented special need made the opportunity very intriguing and I
thought it created an excellent learning opportunity. Not only would I be digging into the development
of a 14 year old, I would also be gaining knowledge about the impact or effects of Down syndrome on
development. Jason is 14 years old, short but heavy set for his age and height. He is typically in a very
good mood and happy to have a friend to spend time with and this day as I visited him at his home
was no different. Down syndrome is a chromosomal disorder which occurs in 1 out of every 800 live
births ((T. Crandell, C. Crandell Vander Zanden, 2012, p.81). Most Down patients have a condition
called trisomy 21, or 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. This results in an individual with 47 total
chromosomes instead of 46 that are normal (Crandell et al., 2012, p.81). This extra chromosome alters

The role of the record company is to nurture, promote, and distribute music around the world.
According to www.manta.com, there are approximately seventy two recording studios and ten record
companies in Mississippi. Even when songs are perfectly written and arranged in their final form, the
creative process continues through the use of music production.
Before an artist records, it is a good idea to prepare the track for the addition of vocals. If your session
has a lot of plug ins and effects running live, adding a real time vocal is likely to strain your computer

The international organization for migration estimates that 700 Thousand women are mostly
transported involuntary across borders each year for the sex trade. Two million girls between the ages
of 5 and 15 are introduced into the commercial sex market each year.
In situations of armed conflicts, girls are systematically the target for abuse, rape and sexual assault
which are used as a deliberate weapon of war in conflicts.
Having looked at gender based violence at a global level; the next thing is to look at it at a national
level. In Zambia, several surveys were carried out by the central statistical office (CSO) and the results
were as follows. Rape cases increased from 178 in 2007 to 254 in 2010, defilement cases recorded a
significant increase from 696 cases in 2007 to 2,419 cases in 2010, Physical violence on women stood
at 28% in 2007. 20% of males indicated having physically hurt their partners and only 12% of females
indicated having done it. In the same year, the study showed that 47% of women had experienced
domestic violence, 11% experienced violence during pregnancy, 30% of married women experienced
sexual violence and 47% experienced spousal violence. Political positions like that of the deputy
minister recorded a decrease from 2006 at 18.2% to 17.2%, in addition, in 2006, there was no female
representation in the position of a deputy permanent secretary which indicates a drop from the 6.7

Garbology Essay
A teacher once told me, One mans trash is another mans treasure, what he doesn t appreciate the next
man will. Until recently analyzing this statement I always pondered about it as a metaphor using the
thoughts, and ideas of people, but after reading Garbology I have come up with a literal process of
reusing trash. On average Americans wastes 220 million tons of waste generated each year in the
United States which ends up in one of the over 3,500 landfills. According to Edward Humes, the
author of Garbology, Garbage has become one the most accurate measures of prosperity in the twenty
first century America and the world, which proves that trash is a means to improving the success rate
of Americans. This reminds me of the words of Confucius who stated, When a goal cannot be reached,
don t adjust the goal, adjust the action step because with the knowledge from garbology we can ...

America s biggest export trash items are scrap paper and metal which the Chinese buy, make products
out of, then sell them back to America resulting in an enormous profit, and creating a cycle because
we throw it out again. America, the country that once made things for the world, is now China s trash
compactor. Furthermore, due to China s skyrocketing economic growth, the Chinese are facing a
major challenge in terms of waste. China, the world s second largest economy, is also the number one
waste producer. Almost more than 430,000 tons of waste is generated every day in China. China
produces around 300 million tons of waste a year; most of it comes from cities. Currently, Chinese
urban waste management services generally collect unsorted municipal solid waste to be disposed of
in landfills or waste incinerators around of the city or further out into the countryside. China is open to

Dfa Case Study
INVESTMENTS DFA Case study Introduction Dimensional Fund Advisors, further referred to as
DFA, is an investment company that bases its strategy mainly on academic research and related
theories. They work together with proponents of the efficient market hypothesis, indicating a
relatively strong belief in this theory and thus in efficient markets. However DFA also feels that
skilled traders have the ability to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment is inherently
passive and DFA does adjusts its strategy to new findings in the field. In this report we will evaluate
the relevance and accuracy of the theories used by DFA, especially the value premium and the size
premium where almost all of their funds are based upon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Did DFA react too quickly to these still relatively controversial findings, do they fit in with the
relatively strong beliefs in efficient markets by DFA and could a change in DFA s strategy increase
both the performance of its funds and the company overall? These questions will be answered by a
thorough analysis of the value, and the size premium. Value premium A lot of criticism on the CAPM
has arisen over the last decades. One finding by Basu in 1977 is often used by opponents of the model
in order to take down the foundation of the CAPM. Basu[3] found that stocks with a low price
earnings ratio, called value stocks, tend to outperform stocks with a high price earnings ratio, named
growth stocks. As the CAPM only allows for fundamental risk to explain excess returns on stocks, the
finding that stocks from companies with high fundamentals (earnings, sales, dividends) relative to
price outperformed growth stocks was in contradiction with the classical CAPM. Proponents of the
CAPM and the efficient market argued that the value premium could be explained by their classical
risk and return rewards, value stocks they argued earned higher returns due to higher risk related to
poor performance in the recent history of the firm. Fama and French[4] however also concluded that
the value premium did exist and even found in the same paper that the book to market ratio and size
premium together were able to explain excess returns of a stock

Did The Big Bang Happen
Did the big bang really happen? Many people may disagree with me, but I still believe the Big Bang
really happened. The Universe had to start somehow, didn t it? Sure people always tell me that god
created the Universe and that my beliefs are incorrect. Yet, I recall the Bible saying that God created
the Heavens and Earth... not the Universe. So yes, I, Tatiana believe in the big bang and nobody can
change that! But ... How did the Universe begin? What is the big bang? I guess you will just have to
continue reading on.
The Universe was this tiny super atom, and between 12 and 20 million years ago it exploded, creating
as we know it today, the Big bang. It sent matter in every which way, and that was just the beginning
of the Universe. As it was forming, nearly all of the earth was made up of this huge cloud of hydrogen.

Back to my topic, did the Big Bang really happen? Like I said before, I think it did. First of all, we

that the big bang actually happened.
Just like I said above, we need a reason that isn t religion based. In my lifetime (which hasn t been
much) one too many people have asked if I believed in God, just because I believe that the big bang
happened. the big bang happened. I always say Yes I believe in god, but that doesn t mean I don t

Target Corporation Supply Chain Analysis
The efficiency of a supply chain network is best considered when it is compared to other strategies
that are used by companies that are in the same industry. The strategy used by Target Corporation was
thus compared with other players in the industry to determine the efficiency of its methods as well as
the integrated improvements that can be made in the supply chain of the Target Corporation. Two
models have been considered in this comparison.
Integrated make to stock Model The supply chain model places much emphasis on tracking the
demands of the customers progressively to allow the generation procedure to restock the items that
have been depleted productively. The supply chain model requires that the company utilizes data that
has been incorporated in a database system through a data framework. The company is thus able to
connect with all the stores hence is able to monitor the movement of stocks so that they are
replenished before they are completely depleted. Walmart has ... Show more content on

The customers can then order and make payments for their orders electronically while online and then
sit and wait for the shipment of their cards (Mangan Lalwani, 2016). The strategy will allow the
organization to utilize broader measures that include item accessibility, fill rate, on the rack, stock
esteem, on time conveyance, the money to money cycle, and the stock administration of the bend. The
incorporation of EIP and EIPP into the company s supply chain strategies would result in an increased
speed of delivery, lower Day Outstanding (DSO) and cost reserve funds. Besides, it would allow for
more dependable budgetary streams. The company ca also improve their store network administration
through the creation of reasonable business gatherings and travel items and administration. They need
to keep more focus on the supplier sustainability shared values as well as supplier diversity

Project Management And Construction Of The Project
All the financing, sourcing, bidding management and construction of the project are decided by MOR
internally7.
Eventually, the power centralized into three people former Minister of Railways Liu Zhijun, former
railway ministry chief engineer Zhang Shuguang and former China Railway Communication Group
Corp. Chairman Ma Cheng. Liu Zhijun, who had the main leadership responsibility for the accident
and acted as the executive sponsor, was sacked and detained in Feb, 2011, before it happened, being
accused of corruption6, while Ma Cheng died of a heart attack in the following weeks of the accident.
They were all accused of abuse of power and accepting bribes which somehow reduced the budget for
the contractual supplier. As a result, corner cut on materials during the construction is common and
poses a tremendous risk on riding the train.
Cause of failure 3 transparency and oversight: Transparency is always crucial in project management.
However, it has been a problem in Chinese society for thousand years. For example, after the accident,
the relevant authorities tried to bury the fallen carriages without thorough life inspection (one little girl
was found alive after the carriage was half buried) and cover up the fact from being exposed to the
public8. Even though it is not clear what happened during the project, it is believed that serious
transparency problems underlie the deadly accident. Who made the decision to award contracts? How
decisions were made for

Grapes of Wrath
1. The protagonist of this story is Tom Joad. Tom must overcome several conflicts when he is paroled
from jail and let out into an economically depressed country. Tom s physical conflict throughout the
novel is the task of surviving the horrible starving conditions of America s Great Depression. He also
has physical conflicts with people who only wish to destroy the hopes of migrant workers such as the
police and strikebreakers. Tom s emotional conflict deals with his inability to get good work and take
care of his family. Tom had feelings of worthlessness until he decided to run away and attempt to
organize the migrant workers against the wealthy California landowners with inspiration from his
close friend Jim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. There is one major instance of coincidence in the novel that changes Tom Joad s life and it resolves
Tom s position in the story. Tom runs into Jim Casey after Casey is out of prison. Tom finds that Casey
believes he can help the migrant workers have a stronger voice by organizing everyone. Unfortunately
Jim is killed by the police. However, because of Tom s encounter with Jim he decides to take on Jim s
work himself. This event is very improbable considering the number of migrant workers in California.
4. In Grapes, suspense is added throughout the novel as the Joad family loses its members and they
encounter hardships in their search of work. My interest was not piqued beyond the point of what
happens next in this novel. The plot and the whole story is basically all linear and easy for the reader
to follow. There are no examples of mystery but there are several instances of dilemma. The entire
journey of the Joad family is based on the harsh reality of the dust bowl during the Great Depression.
This dilemma causes them to leave their home and pack their bags for California. Along the way the
family endures the loss of several members. The most notable instance of dilemma occurs when Tom
Joad meets with Jim Casey and finds that Jim is attempting to organize migrant workers against the
greedy landowners. When the police show up Jim Casey is killed and Tom, in a fit of rage, murders a
police officer. This event sends Tom into

A Report On Agriculture And Horticulture Class
Introduction
On the 15/03/16 our year 12 agriculture and horticulture class went on a trip to a local dairy goat farm.
This is a 40 hectare farm on sandy loam soil which houses 1100 goats, all goats are kept in door and
all food is made on site and bought to them along with their water. Only about 700 goats are being
milked. These goats are milked on a rotary milk parlour, which is one of two in the country. There
were 3 full time staff working and the manager. We asked the manager many questions to assist us
with our internal. The answers were occasionally a bit brief due to the owner only taking over the farm
about a month ago, but we received the necessary information. A guided tour took place with the
owner and a full time employee. Which included us looking at the housing systems, feeding systems,
the composting procedure, Milking shed and other relevant information such as the restrictions they
have.
Soil Impacts
Having good soil structure is very important for all types of farming. To constantly provide quality
feed soil with a good tilth and with plenty of nutrients is required. This is achieved by collecting urine
and dung from the milk shed and is collected in ponds. The liquid is drained away and are processed
through 3 screens then drained into a holding tank ready to be spread on the farm. While this process
is taking place the original solids are scraped away and placed into a bay with a weeping wall to drain
the excess water. Once most water has been drained

Analysis Of Society s Unrealistic Perception Of The Ideal...
Exercising for hours, starving one s self, crash diets and fixatedly recording and calculating calories
are some of the processes people go through to achieve society s perception of the idealistic body
type. Throughout history in the western culture and cultures around the world this emphasis on the
perfect body is associated with being successful, having wealth and other socially desirable traits.
Because society constructs this image that is considered to be the norm some individuals strive at all
cost to meet the bar that has been set and when they perceive they haven fallen short dissatisfaction
with their body occurs. This ideal human physique is seen in the media and every facet of society; it is

The article steers the focus off of woman with eating disorder to highlight the findings of males in
growing numbers displaying signs of body dissatisfaction. In society woman were the stereotypical
view of an eating disorder or any harmful behavior in efforts to achieve the perfect body image but the
article presents a paradigm shift, were males are suffering just as much or even more than females.
Pope, Olivardia, Gruber, Borowiecki (1998), suggests that perhaps the perception of body image and
their disturbances are indigenous to American culture predominantly. The suggestion is supported with
evidence of a cross cultural comparison to college men in America and Austria, American college men
reported having a significantly greater dissatisfaction with themselves then Austrian college men.
Agreeably, yes American culture places a strong emphasis on body images because television shows,
magazine, dolls, actors and celebrities continuously portray the ideal human physique but it needs to
be noted that every culture has a perspective of beauty that shapes the behaviors and minds of persons
in that region, it may not be as candid as American culture but it still exists and influences

Factors Influencing The Adoption Behavior Of Coffee Producers
Selected explanatory variables
A micro level approach was used in order to test which factors influence the adoption behavior of
coffee producers with regard to SMPs. The model incorporates farm and management characteristics,
the socioeconomic profile of producers and social capital indicators. Table 1 presents the descriptive
statistics of the data collected.
Several factors that were considered are accepted as common predictors of adoption in developing
countries. However, three questions related to explanatory variables were not included in the final
questionnaire. Firstly, we did not take into account access to bank loans since coffee farmers in
Mexico are mostly unable to obtain investment credit from lending institutions. Producers usually
have the option of obtaining short term financing (cash advances) either from local traders or from
coffee cooperatives for those who are members. However, the availability of long term credit has
virtually disappeared making it difficult for producers to defer the costs of implementing new
practices over several years (AMECAFE, 2009).
Secondly, tenure arrangements were not considered since households in the sampled area are governed
by a communal land resources committee, an institution independent of the municipality. Under this
system, producers hold usufruct rights to their coffee parcels. While a 1991 amendment to the
Mexican constitution made the privatization of communal lands (ejidos) possible it remains the
dominant type

Criticisms On Porter s Theory
4) Criticisms on Porter s Theory There have been many different reactions towards Porter s theory on
how nations ought to compete. Some responses were validated while others rebutted his theory.
Firstly, the positive response will be discussed before focusing on the criticisms of Porter s theory. Oz
(2002) implemented Porter s Diamond model to analyse the competitive advantage of five Turkish
industries and the outcome was favourable and thus validated Porter s theory. For example, the
uncompetitive Turkish automobile industry resulted in uncompetitive companies, while the presence
of demanding buyers and hence intense local rivalry in Turkish construction and leather clothing
industries pushed the companies to innovate and become globally competitive. The Turkish findings
by Oz thus validated Porter s theory that indeed, competitive industries of a nation are inclined to
cluster together. On the other hand, the criticisms of Porter s theory vary widely from doubts on his
theory s originality (Dunning, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993) to the over reliance on
global export shares as the measure of global competitiveness (Cartwright, 1993; Grant, 1991;
Rugman and D Cruz, 1993). Porter s methodology was also denounced by several academics, which
will be discussed below (Dunning, 1993; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993; Rugman and ... Show more

The Vile Practice Of Sex Selection Abortion
Globally, there are over 200,000,000 missing females in this world (It s a Girl). The number of
females missing is so massive that this genocide is now dubbed the gendercide. 80 percent of the 200
million missing females are from two countries, one of them being China (Lee 20). For centuries
parents have been trying to choose the sex of their children but the world had never seen anything
quite like this genocide ever before. (Sandel 127). This epidemic is so astounding and so large that For
each decade in the past century, more girls were killed than the sum total of all those who died in
genocides of the entire century (Lee 19). The large sum of Chinese females missing is likely due to the
traditions of Chinese culture, ultrasound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This put immense pressure on females to give birth to males as their social statuses depended on it.
Males are also known to be the preferred sex because they have a higher wage earning capacity
especially since 80% of China s population live in rural areas. Males also continue patriarchal lines
and they have the responsibility of caring for their elderly parents. Many females still face scrutiny
and pressure from relatives and neighbors especially in rural communities where traditions are
followed more strictly. All of these cultural beliefs have contributed to the reason why sex selection is
still a problem today. The spark to this modern gendercide was the accessibility of ultrasound
technology. Ultrasound technology was originally for the use of identifying genetic abnormalities but
was discovered that it could be used to detect the sex of a fetus (Sandel 127). This technology became
available in the mid 1980 s just after the implementation of the one child rule in China. This new
technology meant that people could determine the sex of the baby before giving birth giving rise to
sex selection abortions in China. This has ultimately caused the extreme skew in the ratio of males to
females in Chinese population. The more available ultrasound technology became, the more people
found out they were having girls instead of boys. Therefore, those having females aborted their fetuses
while those who were carrying males had their babies. China is now

Freshman Year Research Paper
Freshman year can be described as the worst year of high school. The effects of puberty have sunk in,
for better or worse. Young fourteen or fifteen year old is still trying to figure out who he or she is , and
who they want to be. Middle school is over and the transition into a world of independence has begun.
A whole new world is emerging and surviving jurassic change is hard to do. Three ways to survive the
dreaded freshman year include discovering the right group of friends who support your character,

Naked Egg Lab Experiment
Naked Egg Lab
Frances Jose
Redmond High School Biology, Period 3
Mrs. Sinclair
7 November 2014
Introduction
The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is
isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more
substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000). The
substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and solvents,
the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will be put in a
salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking for three
different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is when the
concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a higher
concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is hypertonic.
Hypotonic solutions are the opposite, and have a lesser concentration of solutes than the solution on
the other side of the membrane.
Diffusion is the process by which molecules tend to move from an area where they are more
concentrated to an area ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the shell is finally gone, the egg will be placed in the salt water solution. Since only water can
move in and out of the egg, the semipermeable membrane allows for an exploration for the concepts
of diffusion and osmosis (Ryczkowski 2014). If the solution is hypotonic, the egg s mass (quantitative
data) will increase because the water will pass from an area with high concentration (water), to an area
with low concentration (egg). It is predicted that the egg will gain mass and look larger (qualitative
data) because of

Analysis Of Maud A Monodrama By Alfred Lord Tennyson
Maud: A Monodrama is the lengthy poem that dominated the first collection published by Alfred, Lord
Tennyson after he became poet laureate. In its rich and romantic symbolism, it is characteristic of the
great poet s work. Notable, also, is its critique of the hypocrisy and other social failings of Victorian
Britain. Maud became one of the best known poems of the period, and continued to be influential even
after its style became dated.
!!!Tennyson and Maud
[{Image src= rossetti_tennysonmaud.jpg alt= Tennyson reading from Maud, 1855 }]
Alfred, Lord Tennyson was a favorite poet of generations. Made Poet Laureate of Great Britain by
Queen Victoria, he dominated the literary scene during his time. He also came for better and for worse
to represent that generation s taste, both during his life and after it. Tennyson s rich __Victorian
language__ can seem daunting to modern readers. In reading Maud , it s a good idea to just embrace
the exaggerated concepts. Experimental in style, laden with intense symbolism, and full of __social
criticism__, Maud was not a popular poem at first, despite its author s status. Tennyson himself was
proud of the work, and retaliated against criticism by reading it aloud whenever he could. Reportedly,
this won over many critics due to the beauty of the poem s language.

Robert Rowe Interview Analysis
Robert Rowe was born December 27, 1945. He grew up in the small town of Carrollton, IL, along
with his Mom, Dad, Brother, and Sister. Robert was the only member of his family that served. Prior
to serving, Robert graduated high school and went to a trade school. He specialized in drafting and
surveying, which he continued to do during his service and until he retired. Multiple times throughout
our interview Robert became very emotional. He became tied up in the old memories that may not
have surfaced in many years. After boot camp and special training, Robert was sent to California and
stayed there for nearly three years. His fourth and final year in California he received his draft papers.
From California he was shipped to Hawaii. From Hawaii he was flown and stationed in Cam Ranh
Bay, a little peninsula in the Khanh Hoa province. While stationed in Vietnam, his job was to survey
the base and do all the drafting that came with it. He said they spent a lot of times sitting around
twiddling their thumbs until their officer got tired of them doing nothing. He said he wasn t allowed to

St. Augustine of Hippo, Bishop and Theologian Essay
St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo, was one of the greatest theologians of his time. He is still regarded in
the highest manner. He was raised in a divided home, but through time he found the truth. He was
always a superb student. He fully mastered Latin; however, he never grasped Greek. He was also very
crafty in speech a black belt of rhetoric if you will. After his teenage flings and rebellions, he found a
heretical sect in which he became involved for a while. He traveled and landed in Milan for a while
where he met the bishop. He then discovered that Christianity was a suitable religion for a
philosopher. Finally, via Bishop Ambrose, Augustine converted to Christianity in 386. Later, he wrote
books such as Confessions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is Augustine saying that he always knew about Jesus and that his mother had taught him well, but
he just never fully understood or let himself see Jesus until his true conversion. It was nothing that
Monnica had not taught him, but his own hard headedness that kept him from seeing the truth. His
father wanted Augustine to be a lawyer until they found that he had such an inclination for rhetoric.
He became the top of his class and continued to excel in almost all his subjects. He swiftly mastered
Latin; however, he never learned Greek, the reason being that his instructor was an abusive man and
physically punished his students. Because of the association of the Greek language and this violent
man, Augustine never could bring himself to learning it. He began to excel in rhetoric; in which, he
would later make his career. Augustine had the potential to become a great politician because he could
easily sway people with his words. As seen in history, many people who can talk well get elected, but
the people with the real stuff do not get into the high offices. After his schooling, he went on to
become a rhetoric professor in the city of Carthage. *5(Hutchins) His rhetoric was so good that in 377,

An Explanation of the Scientific Importance of the Human Genome Project
The human genome project is an international effort that serves as a possible solution to the many
diseases that affect billions of people worldwide. This project is a great milestone in the field of
genetics as it allows scientists to determine the sequence of genes in chromosomes which will show
where disease causing mutations are occurring and what can be done to reverse it. Looking back in
time, many of the diseases which could be cured were done by administering drugs and certain types
of therapies. As the complexity of technology as well as advancements in the understanding of our
bodies increased, more diseases became curable through these very drugs and therapies. However,
many times individuals find it hard to deal with the side effects that these solutions create. The human
genome project aims to make disease and illnesses curable more efficiently and to become readily
available to individuals throughout the world. It is therefore necessary the that society begins to accept
this project as the new frontier in medical treatment and prevention of diseases. By having a greater
investment and understanding in the Human genome Project, the scientific community will determine
more information about DNA to develop treatment plans, prevention methods, and develop cures to
diseases that affect humans; thus yielding medically important information for society. When

Contemporary Issues Facing The Church
Contemporary Issues Facing the Church
I believe we exist for one purpose. That purpose is to worship and reflect our Heavenly Father. He has
given His instructions to us in the Bible. The Bible tells of how we are to administer the church, how
we are to worship in the church and who is to have roles in the church.
What are the biblical principles for administration in a local church?
Gilbert Bilezikian gives four areas that need to be addressed when administering the church here on
earth, 1. A shared faith, 2. A share purpose, 3. A shared lifestyle and 4. A shared authority (Bilezikian,
1993, p. 195 197). A shared faith is noted in Ephesians 4:5 where God s people are told to have one
Lord, one faith, one baptism (NIV). Gilbert tells his readers, every church needs to formuloate clearly
its understanding of the Christian faith ( (Bilezikian, 1993, p. 195). With this written statement
everyone within the church will have a common ground from which to govern, with all people
knowing what the belief of that church is.
I believe without an idea of what the church wants to accomplish they must have a statement of
purpose. Ephesians tells us In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan
of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will (Ephesians 1:11, NIV).
This tells me that the church needs to prayerfully commune with God to discover what purpose He has
for us and then make that purpose into a statement of

around the world work around status and every person works to have a good outlook on themselves so

Gatsby would throw lavish parties to keep his high class outlook. In Great Gatsby it states, In his blue

around the community, Gatsby was seen as the mysterious high class man who was elegant with
expensive personal items which exemplified his class, and throwed the best parties, his status was
amazing and he strived to keep that up because it was important to him. Commenting on the idea of
status, a report was written about Social Class and Status in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby stated,
Gatsby s success is dependent on the fact that he did not follow the rules of society. In A Corruption of

Igbo Body
In Africa, body modification is a sign of prosperity, wealth, power, and is a method of showing a
person s life story. The art form has existed for centuries and holds massive amounts of cultural
significance for African tribes. The village of Umuofia in Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart is
no exception. The Igbo utilize tattooing as a manner of reflecting the character and life experiences of

The Invasion Of Privacy And Concern For Safety
Introduction: The invasion of privacy and concern for safety has been an increasing worry among
people who live in the United States and across the world. The main issue is how does the government
s actions change how people view their own security and even national security. Broader theories of
this research question would be how the government s interaction with technology and security
influence how people think about their own personal privacy and safety as well as our national
security. Some central questions that are critical to how to analyze this growing problem are the
following: What does the NSA really collect and how does that differ from what people believe that
they collect? What is the significance of the FBI asking Apple to create a backdoor into their phones?
How does the decision that Apple made alter how people view their privacy? What would happen if
Apple hadn t made the decision to not create this backdoor for the FBI? How would that decision have
affected our national security? These questions are only a few that relate to this issue and there are
many other cases, approaches, and areas of the topic concerning personal privacy in relation to
national security and how it is viewed. The importance of national security and people s feeling of
safety and privacy can influence our national security. The FBI s approach to asking Apple to create
the backdoor to hack into a specific iPhone for a case, although the backdoor would work on any

organs and glands that produce and regulate hormone secretion into the bloodstream in order to

2003, pg. 23). The vertebrate hormones are secreted in response to three types of stimulus. The first
stimulus can be the presence or change in concentration of a specific substance in the blood; for
example an decrease in blood glucose levels triggers the secretion of glucagon hormone from the ?
cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Another stimulus which initiates the release of a
hormone, is the presence or change in concentration of another hormone in the blood such as the
presence of thyroid stimulating hormone which clearly stimulates the thyroid gland to secrete the
amine hormone, thyroxin. The third and final type of stimuli to cause a change in hormone action is
by nervous stimulation which involves neurons of the autonomic nervous system and can be clearly
illustrated in the secretion of adrenaline from the adrenal gland in
response to fear. (Adds et al. 2003, pg. 23 24). However once the hormone has been secreted and is
circulating in the blood stream, it will only affect its target organ due to the presence of specific
receptor sites or receptor molecules on the cell surface membrane of the target organ or cell. Peptide

Air Masses Air masses are large areas of air that are similar in moisture and temperature. They are

Meteorologists use data initialization to create balance in the data presented to the model. Another
data anomaly is from data being collected away from the center of a grid. Numerical models use grids,
a three dimensional divide of the atmosphere, to make their forecasts. The middle of these grids is
called a grid point. Sometimes the data is not collected at this grid point but at another point in the
grid. To even out this data from different locations to use in forecast meteorologists use a process
called interpolation. Using interpolation and data initialization to balance data is a process called data
assimilation. Some of the methods used to check data include checking if a station always reports
wrong data, if the data deviates from what is expected through short term forecasts and checking the
data against other data observed near by. Of course they also check if the data falls out of any ranges
that are possible to be observed in that area. This data is then used in the numerical weather prediction
start point, which is in turn used to forecast weather. Recently data assimilation has become useful
with satellite data when surface observations are not

Southern hip hop also referred to as southern rap originated from the southern cities like New Orleans,

The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation
in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established
geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability
claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were
obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for
their own economic prosperity (63).
The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the
southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as
contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic
distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts
in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its
origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin
makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66).
Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based industries.
Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the characterization of rap

  • 2. Observation Paper On Child Development Observation Paper A unique opportunity was presented to me as I prepared to complete the observation or interview paper for HDFS 225. We have close friends who have a fourteen year old son with Down syndrome and I was given permission to spend time with Jason (not his real name) over a weekend and this enabled me to observe an adolescent male who happens to be a special needs child. The adolescent period of human development interests me since this stage in life presents significant changes and is considered to be some of the most critical and challenging years in human development. The addition of the documented special need made the opportunity very intriguing and I thought it created an excellent learning opportunity. Not only would I be digging into the development of a 14 year old, I would also be gaining knowledge about the impact or effects of Down syndrome on development. Jason is 14 years old, short but heavy set for his age and height. He is typically in a very good mood and happy to have a friend to spend time with and this day as I visited him at his home was no different. Down syndrome is a chromosomal disorder which occurs in 1 out of every 800 live births ((T. Crandell, C. Crandell Vander Zanden, 2012, p.81). Most Down patients have a condition called trisomy 21, or 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. This results in an individual with 47 total chromosomes instead of 46 that are normal (Crandell et al., 2012, p.81). This extra chromosome alters typical human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to www.manta.com, there are approximately seventy two recording studios and ten record companies in Mississippi. Even when songs are perfectly written and arranged in their final form, the creative process continues through the use of music production. Before an artist records, it is a good idea to prepare the track for the addition of vocals. • 6. Garbology Essay A teacher once told me, One mans trash is another mans treasure, what he doesn t appreciate the next man will. Until recently analyzing this statement I always pondered about it as a metaphor using the thoughts, and ideas of people, but after reading Garbology I have come up with a literal process of reusing trash. On average Americans wastes 220 million tons of waste generated each year in the United States which ends up in one of the over 3,500 landfills. According to Edward Humes, the author of Garbology, Garbage has become one the most accurate measures of prosperity in the twenty first century America and the world, which proves that trash is a means to improving the success rate of Americans. This reminds me of the words of Confucius who stated, When a goal cannot be reached, don t adjust the goal, adjust the action step because with the knowledge from garbology we can ... America s biggest export trash items are scrap paper and metal which the Chinese buy, make products out of, then sell them back to America resulting in an enormous profit, and creating a cycle because we throw it out again. Furthermore, due to China s skyrocketing economic growth, the Chinese are facing a major challenge in terms of waste. China, the world s second largest economy, is also the number one waste producer. Almost more than 430,000 tons of waste is generated every day in China. China produces around 300 million tons of waste a year; most of it comes from cities. Dfa Case Study INVESTMENTS DFA Case study Introduction Dimensional Fund Advisors, further referred to as DFA, is an investment company that bases its strategy mainly on academic research and related theories. They work together with proponents of the efficient market hypothesis, indicating a relatively strong belief in this theory and thus in efficient markets. However DFA also feels that skilled traders have the ability to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment is inherently passive and DFA does adjusts its strategy to new findings in the field. In this report we will evaluate the relevance and accuracy of the theories used by DFA, especially the value premium and the size premium where almost all of their funds are based upon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Did DFA react too quickly to these still relatively controversial findings, do they fit in with the relatively strong beliefs in efficient markets by DFA and could a change in DFA s strategy increase both the performance of its funds and the company overall? These questions will be answered by a thorough analysis of the value, and the size premium. Value premium A lot of criticism on the CAPM has arisen over the last decades. One finding by Basu in 1977 is often used by opponents of the model in order to take down the foundation of the CAPM. Basu[3] found that stocks with a low price earnings ratio, called value stocks, tend to outperform stocks with a high price earnings ratio, named growth stocks. As the CAPM only allows for fundamental risk to explain excess returns on stocks, the finding that stocks from companies with high fundamentals (earnings, sales, dividends) relative to price outperformed growth stocks was in contradiction with the classical CAPM. Proponents of the CAPM and the efficient market argued that the value premium could be explained by their classical risk and return rewards, value stocks they argued earned higher returns due to higher risk related to poor performance in the recent history of the firm. Fama and French[4] however also concluded that the value premium did exist and even found in the same paper that the book to market ratio and size premium together were able to explain excess returns of a stock ... Sure people always tell me that god created the Universe and that my beliefs are incorrect. Yet, I recall the Bible saying that God created the Heavens and Earth... not the Universe. So yes, I, Tatiana believe in the big bang and nobody can change that! But ... How did the Universe begin? What is the big bang? I guess you will just have to continue reading on. The Universe was this tiny super atom, and between 12 and 20 million years ago it exploded, creating as we know it today, the Big bang. It sent matter in every which way, and that was just the beginning of the Universe. As it was forming, nearly all of the earth was made up of this huge cloud of hydrogen. The strategy used by Target Corporation was thus compared with other players in the industry to determine the efficiency of its methods as well as the integrated improvements that can be made in the supply chain of the Target Corporation. Two models have been considered in this comparison. Integrated make to stock Model The supply chain model places much emphasis on tracking the demands of the customers progressively to allow the generation procedure to restock the items that have been depleted productively. Eventually, the power centralized into three people former Minister of Railways Liu Zhijun, former railway ministry chief engineer Zhang Shuguang and former China Railway Communication Group Corp. Chairman Ma Cheng. Liu Zhijun, who had the main leadership responsibility for the accident and acted as the executive sponsor, was sacked and detained in Feb, 2011, before it happened, being accused of corruption6, while Ma Cheng died of a heart attack in the following weeks of the accident. They were all accused of abuse of power and accepting bribes which somehow reduced the budget for the contractual supplier. As a result, corner cut on materials during the construction is common and poses a tremendous risk on riding the train. Cause of failure 3 transparency and oversight: Transparency is always crucial in project management. However, it has been a problem in Chinese society for thousand years. For example, after the accident, the relevant authorities tried to bury the fallen carriages without thorough life inspection (one little girl was found alive after the carriage was half buried) and cover up the fact from being exposed to the public8. Tom must overcome several conflicts when he is paroled from jail and let out into an economically depressed country. Tom s physical conflict throughout the novel is the task of surviving the horrible starving conditions of America s Great Depression. He also has physical conflicts with people who only wish to destroy the hopes of migrant workers such as the police and strikebreakers. Tom runs into Jim Casey after Casey is out of prison. Tom finds that Casey believes he can help the migrant workers have a stronger voice by organizing everyone. Unfortunately Jim is killed by the police. However, because of Tom s encounter with Jim he decides to take on Jim s work himself. This event is very improbable considering the number of migrant workers in California. 4. In Grapes, suspense is added throughout the novel as the Joad family loses its members and they encounter hardships in their search of work. My interest was not piqued beyond the point of what happens next in this novel. The plot and the whole story is basically all linear and easy for the reader to follow. There are no examples of mystery but there are several instances of dilemma. The entire journey of the Joad family is based on the harsh reality of the dust bowl during the Great Depression. This dilemma causes them to leave their home and pack their bags for California. Along the way the family endures the loss of several members. The most notable instance of dilemma occurs when Tom Joad meets with Jim Casey and finds that Jim is attempting to organize migrant workers against the greedy landowners. When the police show up Jim Casey is killed and Tom, in a fit of rage, murders a police officer. This event sends Tom into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. A Report On Agriculture And Horticulture Class Introduction On the 15/03/16 our year 12 agriculture and horticulture class went on a trip to a local dairy goat farm. This is a 40 hectare farm on sandy loam soil which houses 1100 goats, all goats are kept in door and all food is made on site and bought to them along with their water. Only about 700 goats are being milked. These goats are milked on a rotary milk parlour, which is one of two in the country. There were 3 full time staff working and the manager. We asked the manager many questions to assist us with our internal. The answers were occasionally a bit brief due to the owner only taking over the farm about a month ago, but we received the necessary information. A guided tour took place with the owner and a full time employee. Which included us looking at the housing systems, feeding systems, the composting procedure, Milking shed and other relevant information such as the restrictions they have. Soil Impacts Having good soil structure is very important for all types of farming. To constantly provide quality feed soil with a good tilth and with plenty of nutrients is required. This is achieved by collecting urine and dung from the milk shed and is collected in ponds. The liquid is drained away and are processed through 3 screens then drained into a holding tank ready to be spread on the farm. While this process is taking place the original solids are scraped away and placed into a bay with a weeping wall to drain the excess water. Once most water has been drained ... Exercising for hours, starving one s self, crash diets and fixatedly recording and calculating calories are some of the processes people go through to achieve society s perception of the idealistic body type. Throughout history in the western culture and cultures around the world this emphasis on the perfect body is associated with being successful, having wealth and other socially desirable traits. Because society constructs this image that is considered to be the norm some individuals strive at all cost to meet the bar that has been set and when they perceive they haven fallen short dissatisfaction with their body occurs. The article steers the focus off of woman with eating disorder to highlight the findings of males in growing numbers displaying signs of body dissatisfaction. In society woman were the stereotypical view of an eating disorder or any harmful behavior in efforts to achieve the perfect body image but the article presents a paradigm shift, were males are suffering just as much or even more than females. Pope, Olivardia, Gruber, Borowiecki (1998), suggests that perhaps the perception of body image and their disturbances are indigenous to American culture predominantly. The suggestion is supported with evidence of a cross cultural comparison to college men in America and Austria, American college men reported having a significantly greater dissatisfaction with themselves then Austrian college men. Agreeably, yes American culture places a strong emphasis on body images because television shows, magazine, dolls, actors and celebrities continuously portray the ideal human physique but it needs to be noted that every culture has a perspective of beauty that shapes the behaviors and minds of persons in that region, it may not be as candid as American culture but it still exists and influences ... • 15. Factors Influencing The Adoption Behavior Of Coffee Producers Selected explanatory variables A micro level approach was used in order to test which factors influence the adoption behavior of coffee producers with regard to SMPs. The model incorporates farm and management characteristics, the socioeconomic profile of producers and social capital indicators. Table 1 presents the descriptive statistics of the data collected. Several factors that were considered are accepted as common predictors of adoption in developing countries. However, three questions related to explanatory variables were not included in the final questionnaire. Firstly, we did not take into account access to bank loans since coffee farmers in Mexico are mostly unable to obtain investment credit from lending institutions. Producers usually have the option of obtaining short term financing (cash advances) either from local traders or from coffee cooperatives for those who are members. However, the availability of long term credit has virtually disappeared making it difficult for producers to defer the costs of implementing new practices over several years (AMECAFE, 2009). Secondly, tenure arrangements were not considered since households in the sampled area are governed by a communal land resources committee, an institution independent of the municipality. Under this system, producers hold usufruct rights to their coffee parcels. While a 1991 amendment to the Mexican constitution made the privatization of communal lands (ejidos) possible it remains the dominant type ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Criticisms On Porter s Theory 4) Criticisms on Porter s Theory There have been many different reactions towards Porter s theory on how nations ought to compete. Some responses were validated while others rebutted his theory. Firstly, the positive response will be discussed before focusing on the criticisms of Porter s theory. Oz (2002) implemented Porter s Diamond model to analyse the competitive advantage of five Turkish industries and the outcome was favourable and thus validated Porter s theory. For example, the uncompetitive Turkish automobile industry resulted in uncompetitive companies, while the presence of demanding buyers and hence intense local rivalry in Turkish construction and leather clothing industries pushed the companies to innovate and become globally competitive. The Turkish findings by Oz thus validated Porter s theory that indeed, competitive industries of a nation are inclined to cluster together. On the other hand, the criticisms of Porter s theory vary widely from doubts on his theory s originality (Dunning, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993) to the over reliance on global export shares as the measure of global competitiveness (Cartwright, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993). The number of females missing is so massive that this genocide is now dubbed the gendercide. 80 percent of the 200 million missing females are from two countries, one of them being China (Lee 20). For centuries parents have been trying to choose the sex of their children but the world had never seen anything quite like this genocide ever before. (Sandel 127). This epidemic is so astounding and so large that For each decade in the past century, more girls were killed than the sum total of all those who died in genocides of the entire century (Lee 19). The large sum of Chinese females missing is likely due to the traditions of Chinese culture, ultrasound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This put immense pressure on females to give birth to males as their social statuses depended on it. Males are also known to be the preferred sex because they have a higher wage earning capacity especially since 80% of China s population live in rural areas. Males also continue patriarchal lines and they have the responsibility of caring for their elderly parents. Many females still face scrutiny and pressure from relatives and neighbors especially in rural communities where traditions are followed more strictly. All of these cultural beliefs have contributed to the reason why sex selection is still a problem today. The spark to this modern gendercide was the accessibility of ultrasound technology. Ultrasound technology was originally for the use of identifying genetic abnormalities but was discovered that it could be used to detect the sex of a fetus (Sandel 127). This technology became available in the mid 1980 s just after the implementation of the one child rule in China. This new technology meant that people could determine the sex of the baby before giving birth giving rise to sex selection abortions in China. This has ultimately caused the extreme skew in the ratio of males to females in Chinese population. The more available ultrasound technology became, the more people found out they were having girls instead of boys. Therefore, those having females aborted their fetuses while those who were carrying males had their babies. China is now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Naked Egg Lab Experiment Naked Egg Lab Frances Jose Redmond High School Biology, Period 3 Mrs. Sinclair 7 November 2014 Introduction The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000). The substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and solvents, the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will be put in a salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking for three different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is when the concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a higher concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is hypertonic. Hypotonic solutions are the opposite, and have a lesser concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane. • 29. Contemporary Issues Facing The Church Contemporary Issues Facing the Church I believe we exist for one purpose. That purpose is to worship and reflect our Heavenly Father. He has given His instructions to us in the Bible. The Bible tells of how we are to administer the church, how we are to worship in the church and who is to have roles in the church. What are the biblical principles for administration in a local church? Gilbert Bilezikian gives four areas that need to be addressed when administering the church here on earth, 1. A shared faith, 2. A share purpose, 3. A shared lifestyle and 4. A shared authority (Bilezikian, 1993, p. 195 197). A shared faith is noted in Ephesians 4:5 where God s people are told to have one Lord, one faith, one baptism (NIV). Gilbert tells his readers, every church needs to formuloate clearly its understanding of the Christian faith ( (Bilezikian, 1993, p. 195). With this written statement everyone within the church will have a common ground from which to govern, with all people knowing what the belief of that church is. I believe without an idea of what the church wants to accomplish they must have a statement of purpose. Ephesians tells us In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will (Ephesians 1:11, NIV). Customized Weather channel reports are available for over 30 online services, 250 radio stations, a hugely popular 900 number phone service, and 64 newspapers across the U.S. all with The Weather Channel tagline or logo. Just recently, The Weather Channel began to offer wireless weather delivered to handheld devices. This project is in conjunction with Verizon, AT T, sprint, and Palm Piolt. If a consumer sees The Weather Channel name in the newspaper, that just reinforces the brand, says Hayes Roth. In addition to these partnerships, The Weather Channel has worked to package weather in creative ways including books, home videos, calendars, educational material for elementary schools, and a CD ROM titled Everything Weather. In fact, after a hugely positive response on a test mailing, the network started a mail order catalog of company themed merchandise. One of the most widely popular line extensions is the company s web site, www. weather.com which enables users to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Invasion Of Privacy And Concern For Safety Introduction: The invasion of privacy and concern for safety has been an increasing worry among people who live in the United States and across the world. The main issue is how does the government s actions change how people view their own security and even national security. Broader theories of this research question would be how the government s interaction with technology and security influence how people think about their own personal privacy and safety as well as our national security. Some central questions that are critical to how to analyze this growing problem are the following: What does the NSA really collect and how does that differ from what people believe that they collect? What is the significance of the FBI asking Apple to create a backdoor into their phones? How does the decision that Apple made alter how people view their privacy? What would happen if Apple hadn t made the decision to not create this backdoor for the FBI? How would that decision have affected our national security? These questions are only a few that relate to this issue and there are many other cases, approaches, and areas of the topic concerning personal privacy in relation to national security and how it is viewed. The importance of national security and people s feeling of safety and privacy can influence our national security. The FBI s approach to asking Apple to create the backdoor to hack into a specific iPhone for a case, although the backdoor would work on any iPhone, opens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Operant Conditioning Analysis In order to aid my roommate s diet regimen the use of all aspects of operant conditioning will become significant. Since operant conditioning is the method through which an individual s behavior is modified via the use of consequences, positive and negative, both punishment and reward should be a part of my roommate s diet plan. Since grasping the inital plan is an underlying problem of this conditioning, a reinforcer, like a delicious snack will be used at five minute/ fixed ratio schedule to ensure that the subject understands all aspects of the study like the reinfrocements and the punishments. First, a strict plan must be laid out in which the ultimate reward is made clear, this is the reward that is laid out by Throndike s Law of Effect, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, an alarm will be set for exercise timings as an additional discrimination stimulus. This alarm will signify the duration and rigor of the exercise in order to illicit the target behavior of a well established and followed work out routine. Throughout the month, the above discrimination stimuli will be used three times daily at fixed ratio intervals to encourage regularity. If any activity not determined by the schedule set for the subject occurs, the problem can be dealt either with a negative punishment or negative reinforcement. For example, if the subject does not meet the rigor of the exercise or consumes a diet other than the prescribed one, the possibility of joining the football team can be removed as a negative punishment. Similarly, delicious snacks established to be reinforcements at the beginning of the month will be removed as a negative reinforcer for not following the plan. Similarly, to reward target behavior (following the plan) a positive reinforcer will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Role Of The Druze Religion In The World The Druze religion is one of the most exclusive religions in the world. Within the religion, one can only be born into it and is a member until they chose to leave. When one makes the decision to leave, they can never rejoin the religion afterwards. The exclusivity makes it so people have the opportunity to live their lives in the religion while not taking it for granted. Members of the Druze religion live their lives according to the rules set, but can chose when to stop following them. Being a kid is similar to being in a religion. After being born into it, one is a kid until they no longer identify as one; when that day comes, there is no turning back. Kids have changed drastically over time, while decreasing in size as well. Cell Biology Vertebrate Biology Essay Conversion Programme in the Natural Sciences Dr. Colin Stolkin Professor P.B Gahan The Vertebrate Endocrine System in specific reference to their role in Human Menstruation, Ovarian and Uterine cycles Rio Summers April 2009 Word Count: 2693 The vertebrate endocrine system can be best explained as an internal body system collecting multiple organs and glands that produce and regulate hormone secretion into the bloodstream in order to control the many functions of the body. The endocrine system functions alongside the nervous and exocrine system to control and maintain growth, metabolism and sexual development. Hormone substances which are synthesized and secreted from cells involved within the endocrine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2003, pg. 23). The vertebrate hormones are secreted in response to three types of stimulus. The first stimulus can be the presence or change in concentration of a specific substance in the blood; for example an decrease in blood glucose levels triggers the secretion of glucagon hormone from the ? cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Another stimulus which initiates the release of a hormone, is the presence or change in concentration of another hormone in the blood such as the presence of thyroid stimulating hormone which clearly stimulates the thyroid gland to secrete the amine hormone, thyroxin. The third and final type of stimuli to cause a change in hormone action is by nervous stimulation which involves neurons of the autonomic nervous system and can be clearly illustrated in the secretion of adrenaline from the adrenal gland in response to fear. (Adds et al. 2003, pg. 23 24). However once the hormone has been secreted and is circulating in the blood stream, it will only affect its target organ due to the presence of specific receptor sites or receptor molecules on the cell surface membrane of the target organ or cell. Peptide hormones form hormone receptor complexes with the proteinbased receptors on the plasma membrane of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Air Masses Research Paper Air Masses Air masses are large areas of air that are similar in moisture and temperature. They are formed when the air sits over a surface for an extended period of time. Because they form over a surface they take on characteristics of that surface. The five air mass types are continental polar (cP) and tropical (cT), maritime polar (mP) and tropical (mT) as well as continental arctic (cA). All air masses are commonly formed over flat land or large bodies of water, not both. They also formed in areas with light wind. Once formed they move with the upper level winds. Continental polar air masses are formed at high latitudes over land and are cold or cool and dry. Some of the locations in North America the cP air masses are formed over include ... Another data anomaly is from data being collected away from the center of a grid. Numerical models use grids, a three dimensional divide of the atmosphere, to make their forecasts. The middle of these grids is called a grid point. Sometimes the data is not collected at this grid point but at another point in the grid. To even out this data from different locations to use in forecast meteorologists use a process called interpolation. Using interpolation and data initialization to balance data is a process called data assimilation. Some of the methods used to check data include checking if a station always reports wrong data, if the data deviates from what is expected through short term forecasts and checking the data against other data observed near by. Of course they also check if the data falls out of any ranges that are possible to be observed in that area. This data is then used in the numerical weather prediction start point, which is in turn used to forecast weather. Recently data assimilation has become useful with satellite data when surface observations are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He does not plant to let Fortunato get away with what Montresor believes is wrong doing. Montressor discusses throughout the story of how Fortunato has wronged him by speaking ill of him in some way, but it is never expressly revealed to the reader what it was that Fortunato actually said. Poe chooses to not reveal what the actual insult was to help convey an unsure feeling in the reader. • 40. Rap Music And Its Effects On Modern Music Industry SOUTHERN RAP Southern hip hop also referred to as southern rap originated from the southern cities like New Orleans, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Memphis, and Virginia Beach, just like the names implies. Rap music has transformed modern music greatly during the decade of 1997 and 2007 (Dyson 61). The decade has seen the southern artists rise to both national and international prominence. The southern cities have churned up modern rap artists like Dwayne Michael (Lil Wayne), Clifford Joseph (T.I) and many others .This papers aims to examine various artists, music and scholarly articles in analyzing rap music in southern cities and its effects on modern music industry. The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for their own economic prosperity (63). The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66). Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based industries. Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the characterization of rap genre ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
