Winding is the process of transferring yarn from one package to another to facilitate further processing. There are several types of winding machines classified by the package wound, the winding method, or the drive type. The objectives of winding are to transfer yarn to a suitable package for weaving, remove faults from the yarn, clean and improve quality, and store the yarn. Common winding faults include yarn breakage, packages that are not properly shaped, twist variations, and packages that are dirty or contain hairiness.
