South Cobb High School Analysis
An interesting task I was given this week was breaking up a fight between two students. As a student
at South Cobb High School, I have seen my fair share of fights; however, I have never participated in
breaking up a fight before until now. I saw two students pushing and shoving each other violently and
I sprung into action. I ran to the two boys and raised my voice and quickly separated the two. This was
interesting because it was my first experience doing that. Another interesting task I was given was
helping one of my autistic students fine a group during physical education. This student is very anti
social and needed my help. I had to look for the perfect group of students that I felt would be nice to
him. It was interesting because I

Avocado Research Paper
After you have enjoyed the delicious taste of an avocado, do not throw out the seed! You can grow a
beautiful houseplant or even your own tree by following these simple steps. First, wash the seed.
Second, dry it. Third, insert three toothpicks into its thickest part. Then fill a glass or empty jar with
water. After that, suspend the seed in the water with the pointed end up and the broad end down. The
water should cover about an inch of the seed. Next, put the glass in a warm place, but not in direct
sunlight. Add water when necessary to keep the bottom of the seed under water at all times. In two to
six weeks, you should see roots begin to grow. Furthermore, the seed will crack open, and then a stem
will emerge from the top. However, wait

Odysseus Influence On Botan
Carl Linnaeus was born on May 23, 1701, in Småland, Sweden. Linnaeus adored plants, even at a
young age. His father Niles, an amateur botanist, taught Linnaeus basic botany. Linnaeus primarily
went to Uppsala University to study medicine, botany and he eventually wrote a thesis on plant sexual
reproduction. Linnaeus then went to Lapland, and after six months he had discovered about 100
plants. He then set out for the Netherlands to get his doctoral degree at the University of Harderwijk.
After that, on 1735, Linnaeus published his first edition of Systema Naturae, which fully introduced
Linnaean taxonomy. Linnaean taxonomy was partially discovered before by Gaspard and Johann
Bauhin 200 years ago, but Linnaeus was the first to use it consistently

Barabas And Hamlet Research Paper
Christopher Marlowe is well known for his tragic Marlovian character, the morally ambiguous hero.
Barabas of The Jew of Malta is a prime example. His character is greedy, ruthless, and the murderer of
the citizens of Malta. Yet the audience still roots for this character as he commits sin after sin in the
name of justice. He is ambitious and charismatic, and unjust circumstances earn him sympathy.
Shakespeare, inspired by the idea of a villainous hero, creates a marlovian character with a twist. The
character of Hamlet exhibits the same qualities of the Marlovian character, but lacks to drive to
execute his revenge, as he deliberates on his own morality.
The forefront similarity between the characters of Hamlet and Barabas is their desire ... Show more

His ploy of madness is nothing but a delay of action. Hamlet is highly aware of the severity of the
crime he is planning to commit and bides his time in taking any formal action. His hesitation comes
from his awareness of his own moral ambiguity. Hamlet expresses contempt for his cowardliness but
admits hesitation as the ghost, may be the devil...perhaps out of my weakness and my melancholy, as
he is very potent with such spirits, abuses me to damn me (Shakespeare 2.2.628 632). With this he
acknowledges the possible consequence on his soul for his crime. Once Hamlet gains the proof he
hunted for of Claudius guilt, he continues with his excuses. Hamlet believes if Claudius is killed while
he is praying his soul will be forgiven and go straight to heaven. The Danish prince claims this is hire
and salary, not revenge (Shakespeare 3.3.84), therefore losing an uncomplicated opportunity to kill
Claudius. Due to his hesitation throughout the play, enough time passes for a murder plot to be
conspired against him. This leads to his ultimate downfall but also springs him into action. In the final
scene, Hamlet has only moments to live and morality is no longer of value. Here he is at his most
Marlovian, as he vindictively murders

MBM is a scientific approach to management that integrates theory and practice, and provides a
framework for dealing with the ongoing challenges of growth and change (KOCH, 2007).
Five Dimensions
The theory of MBM is rooted in the Science of Human Action and is defined by five dimensions:
(figure 1) (GP, 2014).
Until now I have never heard of or read about Market Based Management. I m privileged to know
someone who worked at Georgia Pacific where the employees were required to take courses. They
used guiding principles for reviews and evaluations. By using these dimensions along with the guiding
principles we presume and organization will be successful both internal and external. This has been
proved successful for Koch Industries, however there are still arguments that it doesn t apply to all
business sectors. For example: Let s take the dimension Incentives. An employee performing the day
to day activities improves a process and the accomplishments of time saving or elimination. Based on
the MBM Incentive, this should be rewarded. This will be acknowledged by direct reports but then
taken up the chain command, only to find out that it s not relevant at that level. How does this
employee get rewarded based on the guidelines? Also, a salary increase would be an incentive for the
employee to perform good work. In the MBM culture, salary is based on the market for the area the
employee works in. A

Kung Fu Panda in the Eye Of a Social Psychologist
Movies enact realistic social situations and serve as social learning tools, especially animated ones that
are being consumed by both young and adult audiences. The movie that will be discussed in this paper
is Kung Fu Panda .
First theory that will be introduced in this paper analyzes social groups, which exist when two or more
persons interact with one another, share common goals, are interdependent to some extent and
recognize that they belong to a group, as defined by Paulus (1989). The group presented in Kung Fu
Panda movie is The awesome five warriors who live in training temple and follow common goal of
being the best defendants to their land and eventually making it to become the dragon warrior a

And second dimension is the one employed to the real situation in the movie, where the members of
the group experienced contact hypothesis an increased contact with the outsider Panda, a process
described in study of Pettigrew (1981).
Since this contact proceeded under certain conditions, it served to correct he stereotype activated and
helped recategorize Panda from out group to in group . The conditions working for decreasing
prejudice (e.g., (Aronson, Bridgeman, Geffner, 1978; Schwarzwald, Amir, Crain, 1992) contain
equality in social status ( the awesome five and Panda were elevated to the same status during those
events), the contact between them involved dependence and interdependence (they were told by
authority that only cooperation will help them all together defeat the evil warrior and they had to train
all together), the contact permitted them to know each other as individuals (they communicated quite a
lot and got to know personal traits of each other), there were norms favoring group equality (once the
master insisted on Panda being the dragon warrior he received the status of equal), they might have
viewed one another as typical of their respective group, but we will never know that for sure.

Separation of Powers Essay
Ange Miller
Separation of Powers essay
American National Government 6
Professor: Aimellia Siemson
The concept of separation of governmental powers is an essential principle to our democracy. The
Separation of Powers devised by the framers of the Constitution was designed to do one primary
thing: to prevent the majority from ruling with an iron fist, so the framers shied away from giving any
branch of the new government too much power. There were three branches created within the
Constitution the Legislature, Executive, and Judicial, each of which have a distinct function and fine
lines separating them. (1)
The Legislative Branch is composed of the House and Senate, The Executive, is composed of the
President, Vice President, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(3) The executive branch makes sure people follow the laws that the legislative branch makes. The
leaders of this branch are the President and Vice President. When making important decisions, the
President often asks for advice from a group of 15 helpers, known as the Cabinet. When people are
unsure about the meaning of a law, the judicial branch listens to many opinions and makes a decision.
The judicial branch is made up of courts and the highest of these courts is the U.S. Supreme Court and
is made up of 9 judges. Courts decide arguments about the meaning of laws, how they are applied, and
whether they break the rules of the Constitution. (2) Of the more than 7,500 cases that are sent to the
Supreme Court each year, only about 80 to 100 cases are actually accepted. (3)
The doctrine of Separation of Powers was adopted by the convention of 1787, in the words of Justice
Louis D. Brandeis, not to promote efficiency but to preclude the exercise of arbitrary power. The
purpose was not to avoid friction, but, by means of the inevitable friction incident to the distribution of
the governmental powers among three departments, to save the people from autocracy. (1)

Government Greed Oil, stockholders, drama, racism, government and death are all words that come to
mind when the Case Study of Caltrex are exposed. This controversy that occurred was one of the most
horrific yet historic events in our pastime. This showed many examples of how management of
companies has the responsibilities beyond normal duties to ensure a high return for stockholders.
Investments should always carry high criteria before making the investment because people s
livelihood depends on it. In this case, stockholders Texaco and SoCal invested in an oil company
named Caltrex to give them a high return of its investment although the trust was severed by racism
and government greed lend to an end result of sense of unjust ethics ... Show more content on

This is racism in its finest and management should not be held responsible for the practices of the
corporate people involved. This was a completely different situation then we have in most businesses
today. They were angered because the black workers had special responsibilities and due to the white
nation laws that were in effect they did not like it. Management has a job to do regardless if others
disagree and even though the people that invested their money in this company were outraged it was
not managements fault. The ethics practiced in this case are an ethic of care and ethic of virtue but in
all reality this is completely based on race which is why we have laws against that today. In theory the
stockholders believed that management was to blame but in reality they were simply doing their job to
provide for their own families. At my job today there are many controversial issues that arise however
I have no opinion to act on them. There are laws and regulations that are set in place that I am
expected to follow and if I do not then I could lose my job. The moral reasoning behind it may not be
positive but it is what it is and management has specific goals and money involved that are outside the
moral actions of a person. Caltex s multinational workforce faced a major challenge in providing the

The Death of Sardanapalus Analysis
The Death Of Sardanapalus
Art has been classified into many different types of styles. Some artists reflect the style perfectly in
their works and others express elements from different styles in their pieces. The frvdsRomantic art
style was a unique art style which drew away from the Neoclassical style, which was predominant.
Romantic art was the complete opposite of Neoclassicism. Where neoclassical artists favoured strict
forms, rules and reason and logic; Romantic artists strayed away from that form of painting and
wanted to express individualism and personal emotions into their pieces. Eugene Delacroix s The
Death of Sardanapalus, as shown in Figure 1; embodies the feeling, emotions, and discord found in

In Liberty: Leading the People, Delacroix uses a triangle to compose the piece (Fig 2), with Liberty at
the peak of the pyramid and the people at the bottom in order to balance out the composition,
compared to The Death of Sardanapalus, Delacroix s painting offers no clear recession into depth.
There is no logical sense of scale or perspective. (Walsh) The Death of Sardanapalus is just clustered
and a mess with no real balance or logic. Romantic art is characterized as straying away from
traditional art forms, thus this piece is a piece reminiscent to the art style known as Romanticism. 84
years prior to the creation of the death of Sardanapalus, another renowned French painter, Jacques
Louis David painted the most famous piece of Neoclassical art, The Oath of the Horatii.
Neoclassicism and Romanticism are two completely opposite things. Whereas Neoclassicism stresses
the importance of balance, logic, and objectivity; Romanticism tries to emphasize the individual,
spontaneity, and intuition. One wanted to portray the absolute truth of life and the other wanted to
depict reality through images of the wild and raw emotions... (Neoclassicism and Romanticism) In
The Oath of the Horatii, everything is organized and lined up neatly and the entire painting just gives
off a calm feeling with the invisible brushstrokes and dull colors. Whereas in The Death of
Sardanapalus, everything is just in a state of utter chaos and

U.s. R And D Industrial Policy
U.S. R D Industrial Policy While the United States touts free market policies as main guiding
principles, U.S. policy makers have actively used research and development (R D) industrial policies
to maintain and grow the U.S. economy. There are two types of R D, also known as research and
experimentation (R E), funding models; one is direct federal research dollars given to industry,
typically for basic research, and the other in the use of tax credits for R D activities. Tax credit policies
began in 1981 as part of the Economic Recovery Tax Act (Talley, 2011). The U.S. has long funded R
D, however this funding has steadily decreased with the total in 1976 of just over 1.2% of GDP with
dropping below .8% of GDP in 2014 (AAAS, 2014a). As of 2013, South Korea, Finland, Japan,
Taiwan, and Germany all outspend the U.S. on direct R D funding relative to GDP (AAAS, 2014b).
The IMF and OECD indicate that R D tax credits are a main growth strategy for the G 20 nations
(IMF, 2014). This research topics explores how the United States domestic industrial policies
supporting research and development influence business and entrepreneurial behaviors within the
U.S., which industries has this benefited the most, overall societal impacts of advancements in
technology and automation, and finally how this supports comparative advantage for the United States
as well as implications for developing nations. The U.S. Congress has funded the R D tax credit on a

Defining The Divisions At One Time, Our Nation Is Divided...
Classifying the Divisions At one time, our Nation was divided by race and social class. Today, our
Nation is divided by the type of political party one identifies by or even by our stance on particular
issues. There are some, however, that get caught up in their generational past and use this occurrence
to identify by. Even more, some people classify themselves by their moral obligations, setting
standards that they may view as higher or different than their adversaries. Then there are those who
want to create new ideas and give their idea a fighting chance in this ever so active society. Therefore,
historical, modern, and principled issues classify the groups of topics that divide our Nation.
Historically, racism and equality have served to be the basis of issues that have stemmed and grown
from the constitution. Racism was a huge issue and is still seen as an issue even today. Although
equality is at the best point it has ever been, discrimination is still an immense problem. Recently, the
debate regarding the Confederate flag as a symbol for slavery sparked many opinions, demonstrating
the divisive nature of this issue. In her entry on the Huffington Post: Black Voices page, Hilary
Hanson (2015) reported that some people...feel the Dixie flag represents their Southern heritage. On
the contrary, some people feel as though the flag has been used as an explicit symbol of racism
(Hanson 2015). Between these divided groups, an argument has ensued as to whether the

underwent a partial craniotomy and partial resection. Her tumor came back much stronger, however,
and in April she was given six months to live. Maynard s only treatment option to slow but not stop
the growth of the tumor was full brain radiation, but she opted against this because of the unavoidable

As of April, 2015, forms of euthanasia and PAS have been legalized in six countries and four US
states (Marker). In North America, the only country where PAS is completely legal currently is
Canada. In a 1995 verdict made by the Canadian Senate (Boudreau and Somerville 1 12):
[t]he court ruled that laws making physician assisted death illegal violated Canadians constitutional
rights in cases where an adult clearly consents to the termination of life and has a grievous and
irremediable medical condition. (Larson)
This decision has been met with a mostly positive response, with statistics showing that more than
four out of every five of the Canadian general public approve of the decision. They attribute this to the
freedom of choice to one s body and medical care that the law modifications permit. Another reason
surrounding this response is that:
[...] it is no longer a crime to commit or attempt to commit suicide [...] why, then, is it a crime to assist
it? What is the difference between suicide and assisted suicide that justifies making the one lawful and
the other a crime, that justifies allowing some this choice, while denying it to others? (Larson)

Analyse the Different Ways in Which Countries Can Attempt...
Firstly, the economic problem is split into three questions, which are: what to produce? How to
produce? Who to produce for? These three questions can also be summed up as scarcity which is the
inadequate amount of resources available. Consumers have wants which are unlimited; they would
always want more, but due to the economic problem, scarcity, not everyone will get there want
fulfilled, therefore causing a problem. Different countries can attempt to overcome the economic
problem in several ways; which is to apply a different economy system to their country. Due to
scarcity consumers will now have to make a choice of what they want, by sacrificing the next best
alternative when making a decision, this is known as opportunity cost. ... Show more content on

Example of good entrepreneur is Steve Jobs who was all behind the creation of Apple and the success

these problems. These are: free market economy; mixed economy and command economy. All three

The World Consists Of The Different Types Of People
The world consists of the different types of people in the particular country. The statement Aboriginal
people was new to me because I am from another nation where such kind of individuals does not exist.
I had not taken any subject in my country related to the issues that are existing in another country such
as in America, Canada etc. Canada is the first place where I knew about aboriginal people. The
following paragraphs will show about the situations faced by the aboriginal people in the past and
present day. I got the information about this from the class lecture notes and from watching the videos
related to the indigenous population. It is quite surprising that the condition of aboriginals was really
worst in Canada. The biggest problem is that the people are suffering from the culture loss. The
indigenous persons have to opt with the English language that is mandatory for them to become a
citizen of Canada and they do not get attached to their mother tongue. A huge change to occur in their
life, as they cannot perform their original lifestyle in a new country. The culture loss was also seen
among the students that were sent to the Residential Schools because they were taken away from the
parents and taught another language due to which they lost their traditional language to communicate
with their parents. But afterwards, the government regret for such residential schools and promise to

stages of life that contribute to the development of personality. There are oral, anal, phallic, latency

Upgrading Pavement Design
1. Introduction
1.1 Background
Before the 1920 s, pavement design consisted mainly of major thicknesses of layered materials to
provide strength and protection to weak subgrade. The pavement design was predominantly against
subgrade shear failure. During those times, experience based on success and failures of previous
projects was used to formulate pavement design methods. As time wore on and experience grew,
several design methods based on shear strength were developed.
Meanwhile, the increased traffic volume led to changes in the design criteria. In consideration of
subgrade support provision, pavement performance through ride quality (smoothness) and surface
distresses that increase the deterioration rate of pavement structures had to be evaluated. The attention
was then mainly drawn to pavement performance rather than shear strength. Methods based on
serviceability were developed based on test track experiments. The AASHTO design guide was then
developed after the AASHO Road Test in the late 1950 s. Although test track experiments showed
good accuracy, they were valid only for materials and climatic conditions for which they were
developed. This called for new materials which also had their own failure modes (e.g permanent
deformation and fatigue cracking) to be used in pavement structures, hence the development of new
design criteria to incorporate such failure mechanisms.
Empirical design, Mechanistic design and Mechanistic Empirical design are the three main

New England Patriots Deflated Footballs
I do believe that the New England Patriots deflated footballs in the American Football Conference
championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. The game was held on January 18, 2015, at
Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. The National Football League requires footballs to be inflated
between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch of air (2016 NFL Rulebook). Before halftime the Colts
linebacker, D Qwell Jackson, intercepted a pass from the Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady. Later,
Jackson said the football appeared spongy, which describes the texture of an underinflated ball
(Deflategate Timeline). At halftime all twelve of the Patriots footballs were measured, and all twelve
were below the minimum pressure (Deflategate). After the game when the National Football League
launched an investigation, they hired Ted Wells to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the report was published, the Patriots argued that the pressure gauges used to measure the
footballs were inaccurate; however, during the testing two different gauges were used, and both were
made by different companies (Deflategate). Also, the gauges were tested after the game, and both were
determined to be accurate (Deflategate). The Patriots also argued that the pressure temperature law
was the cause of the low pressure in the footballs (Deflategate). This law, also known as Gay Lussac s
law, stated that a decrease in temperature would cause a decrease in pressure and vice versa
(ChemTeam: Gas Law Gay Lussac s Law). The Patriots said that according to this law when the
footballs were brought outside in the cold air from the warm locker room, where the balls were
inflated, the decrease in temperature caused a decrease in pressure (Deflategate). HeadSmart labs, a
well trusted scientific consulting group, stated that after accounting for all environmental factors
present during the time of the game the pressure temperature law could cause at most one and eight
tenths pounds per square inch of air to be expelled from the

Automobile In The 1920s Essay
Automobiles the in 1920 s The 1920 s was a decade of great change in the American automobile
industry. By 1920, the automobile industry had developed in Detroit, although there were plants in
other cities in United Stated. Even though the percentage of automobile produced overseas would
grow during this time period, the majority were produced in the United States. The number of vehicle
produced by American grew from approximately 2.3 million in 1920 to over 5 million in 1929.
(Mazzeno, Automobiles and auto manufacturing. ) In 1920, the Model T, introduced by Henry Ford in
1908, was one of the most popular automobiles in America. Model T was at such a low price that
nearly two thirds of the cars on American road at that time was Henry Ford s Model T. (Mazzeno,
Model A Ford ). The four cylinder, twenty horsepower Model T, first offered in October 1908 was sold

The assembly line made the mass production possible, which lead in lower consumer cost. In 1920 the
price of a Model T fell to $290 and that was about three months salary for a average person at that
time period (Ewing). Also with Ford s new idea of the installment plan, the Model T became
affordable for people who could pay a portion of the cost up front, and then pay a reasonable monthly
payment (Burchett). In 1920, the Ford company manufactured one million Model T vehicle, four years
later that number had doubled. However, by 1926 the sales had declined because General Motors
(GM) came up with a, Pontiac, that drew customers away from Ford s Model T. GM was not the only
company whose sales where going up. Chevrolet sales in 1927 reached over a million dollars, this was
the first time since 1908 that a company other than Ford whose sales went up (Foner and

Dr Temple Grandin Analysis
Society has created an environment where those with different abilities struggle to be accepted. Doctor
Temple Grandin is a remarkable woman who has defied what most perceive when they see someone
with autism. From the time, Temple was young she proved doctors wrong. While in boarding school
and later in college a few of her professors did not believe her observations or in her work with cattle.
They simply did not comprehend the enormous amount of detail her brain absorbed and her
connection to animals which allowed her to gain access to this knowledge. Temple did not let autism

Always following her gut for change even though several people seemed to not care to change and
preferred it to stay the way it was. This was not an easy task and more difficult when so many around
her did not believe in her. However, she focused more on those who did support her and tried to ignore
the negativity. Her bravery to march into a slaughterhouse to see how improvements could be made is
something I would assume to be impossible. It took courage for her to continue to go to the feedlot
even after workers put bull testicles on her truck. Though, who accepted her and could see her
amazing gift, they did not always understand how her mind worked but they accepted her for who she
was. Others soon realized what a unique ability she had. Such as, the reporter from the Arizona

The Role Of Dreams Essays
Are dreams a source of reliable divination? Generations upon generations seem to have thought so.
They incubated dreams by travelling afar, by fasting and by engaging in all other manners of self
deprivation or intoxication. With the exception of this highly dubious role, dreams do seem to have
three important functions:
a. To process repressed emotions (wishes, in Freud s speech) and other mental content which was
suppressed and stored in the unconscious.
b. To order, classify and, generally, to pigeonhole conscious experiences of the day or days preceding
the dreaming ( day residues ). A partial overlap with the former function is inevitable: some sensory
input is immediately relegated to the darker and dimmer kingdoms of the ... Show more content on

Defences are gradually dismantled and a new, more functional, view of the world is established. This
is a painful and frightening process. This function of the dream is more in line with Jung s view of
dreams as compensatory . The previous three functions are complementary and, therefore, Freudian.
It would seem that we are all constantly engaged in maintenance, in preserving that which exists and
inventing new strategies for coping. We are all in constant psychotherapy, administered by ourselves,
day and night. Dreaming is just the awareness of this on going process and its symbolic content. We
are more susceptible, vulnerable, and open to dialogue while we sleep. The dissonance between how
we regard ourselves, and what we really are and between our model of the world and reality this
dissonance is so enormous that it calls for a (continuous) routine of evaluation, mending and re
invention. Otherwise, the whole edifice might crumble. The delicate balance between we, the
dreamers, and the world might be shattered, leaving us defenceless and dysfunctional.
To be effective, dreams must come equipped with the key to their interpretation. We all seem to
possess an intuitive copy of just such a key, uniquely tailored to our needs, to our data and to our
circumstances. This Areiocritica helps us to decipher the true and motivating meaning of the dialogue.
This is one reason why dreaming is discontinuous: time must be given to interpret and to

Essay Self-Discovery in Oates Naked
Self Discovery in Oates Naked
While other, less accomplished writers use violence to shock or provoke, Joyce Carol Oates is usually
more subtle and inventive. Such is the case in Naked, the story of a forty six year old woman whose
placid outer identity is ripped away by a brutal assault while out hiking not far from her fashionable,
University Heights neighborhood. Like many of Oates stories and in this regard she probably owes
something to Flannery O Connor Naked focuses on a woman so entrenched in her rigid self image that
nothing short of violence could make her vulnerable to a humbling, though redemptive, self
knowledge.

Executive Summary Of Eli Lilly
Executive Summary Eli Lilly is a lending pharmaceutical company based in the United States.
Looking to globalize their company and emerge into the Asian markets, they entered into a joint
venture with Ranbaxy, who are based in India. With Eli Lilly s expertise in foreign knowledge and
having many resources and capital, this was a great complement to Ranbaxy who provided
government contacts and information on the local markets. Dr. Tallarigo is the president of
Intercontinental Operations and also the decision maker in this case. As the Indian market recognized
patent protection in 2005, this attracted more foreign investments, which in turn caused Tallarigo to re

The trees reach maturity with in 60 80 years of age and most often living upwards of 100 years of age.
Like I previously mention the buckeye tree blooms early in the spring. Flowers are a white to yellow
greenish color and form in small clusters. Each flower will produce 1 2 seeds that will produce up to 5
nuts each inside the capsule. The capsule is a pale yellow color that is spiny. The tree is one of the
earliest to lose their leaves in the fall turning to a nice yellow and red color before falling off. The
buckeye tree has learned to adapt pretty well for survival. Its short stature means that it usually has
taller trees in the forest towering over it. While it can grow in the shade it prefers to be in open clusters
or along streambeds in moisture rich soil. It has also shown great resistance to fungus and disease.
There are only six known diseases that affect the tree. One of the most common and most serious
problems that the buckeye tree will experience is leaf scorch. Most likely caused by drought
conditions or pollution. The buckeye tree is polygamo monoecious. The flower clusters at the base of
the branch are fertile and can reproduce while the flowers further up the branch are staminate. A few
other interesting things that I learned when doing the research on the buckeye tree

Executive s Emotional Intelligence, Insight, And...
Executive s emotional intelligence (EI), insight, and authority aptitudes have a clear connection to
their execution. New research demonstrates that an executive s passionate style drives other people s
inclinations and practices (Goleman, Boyatzis, McKee, 2015). Only in recent years has there emerged
a scientific model of the emotional mind that explains how so much of what we do can be emotionally
driven. Individuals can be so reasonable at one moment and so irrational the next. Emotions can be
experienced and deployed intelligently and skillfully or not so intelligent and skillfully (Goleman,
2005). The skill that allows one to understand, implement and use emotions is called emotional
intelligence (Goleman, 2005).
For the most part, incredible leaders know how their leadership style impacts their followers, and this
knowledge makes them great leaders. Genuinely incredible leaders recognize, comprehend and deal
with their feelings, as well as knowing what they can do with individuals in an exceptionally engaging
manner. Motivating and inspiring others is paramount to effective leadership (Kotter, 2012). In
addition to having this enthusiastic insight, it is crucial for leaders to understand the importance of
having compassion, self awareness, and respect to communicating effectively with the individuals that
they lead. Leaders that understand and connect with their employees on an emotional level are seen as
authentic and lead with the heart, these traits are

Irfan Rifai is a name adopted from Arabic language that means wisdom and noble respectively. My
father told me that the name given to me because he wanted me to grow up being a wise and a noble

Indonesia, but being predominantly populated by Muslims, Arabic is taught in the early age for the
purposes of praying and reading the holy Quran. Unless we have enrolled in Islamic boarding school,
Arabic language has not generally been taught or used for communication sake.
I learned Arabic literacy at the same time that I learned to read and write in my first language. As a
kid, I spent my time studying at formal school from 7 am to 12 pm and had informal school where I
learned Arabic literacy afterward until 4 pm. With such a busy schedule of schooling, I still wonder
what went wrong that I was only capable of reading both in Arabic and Indonesian fluently only when
I was at my 2nd grade of school. Was it that I was too young to enter elementary school? I was

did not have enough exposures to prints or reading habits in the family?

Through this, we can see that Homo habilis was not nearly as similar to us as perhaps Homo erectus,

The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV Essay
The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV
None of Shakespeare s plays are read more than the first and second parts of Henry IV. Particularly in
Henry IV Part I, Shakespeare writes chronologically historical and interesting to follow events. The
reader follows the chain of events with devotion and content eager to find out what happens next.
Even though the hero of the play is Prince Henry, or Hal as we know him, the reader may find
themselves more focused on Falstaff, one of the other major characters that Shakespeare created for
comical relief. He was a witty, self conscious, self centered companion of the Prince. King Henry even

Prince Hal was the hero of the play, but Falstaff was the character to follow. (Johnson 235)
Hal s opposite was a peer to him, the younger of the Percy s Hotspur. Shakespeare properly named
this character Hotspur for he was indeed a character with a hot temper and passionate ideas and
actions. He longed for a one on one match with the Prince, which he did get at the end of the play.
Unfortunately for himself, he lost it and was eventually eliminated. Yet I would have to agree with
Johnson once again that Falstaff received the center attention of the reader.( Johnson 235 )
Sir John, or as he was commonly known in the play as Falstaff, was a knight to the King Henry. He
was a man of large proportions, indulging into the sweet things in life. He was a man of low morale,
as Johnson had noted in his essay. He was a coward and the viewer got to see that in the robbery scene
that was aforementioned above. He cared for nothing in life but to satisfy his needs. He preyed upon
the poor, he was always ready to cheat and lie. Yet we have grown an attachment to him, for he is a
character that we learn to like. Michael Goldman highlighted that point in his Shakespeare and the
Energies of Drama. When at the end of the Boar s Head Tavern scene, when the viewer learns that the
Sheriff is outside looking for the robbers, Prince Hal defends the fat knight. However, we find Falstaff
soundly asleep behind an array. This scene

The whole act is a sense of wasted effort, yet to Shimamura who has no where else he needs to be,
prefers to be in the mountains and has to undertake this wasted effort to be in the mountains. To
Shimamura, there is no purpose in climbing to the top of a mountain only to have to go back down
again. In this section of the book, readers discover that Shimamura is indeed actually attracted to
wastefulness. After describing mountain climbing as a model of wasted effort, it is explained that For
that very reason it pulled at him with the attraction of the unreal (112). This can help explain why
Shimamura is so attracted to the snow country, a place difficult to get to and with nothing significant
and meaningful to do, and Komako, an object of lust that portrays experiences of wasted effort.
Shimamura is unique in that he can recognize and accept waste as a large part of his life. He
acknowledges moments of waste yet doesn t seem concerned that it may be detrimental to him. He has
a peculiar attraction to things that can be considered a waste which is why so much that is seen of him
in the books correlates to the waste he

Gay Marriage Essay
Agreeing with other people lifestyles can be difficult. For example, some people cannot agree to
homosexual marriages; on the other hand, others can agree to live with homosexual marriages. As
published in Procon.org, the article Gay Marriage enlists pros of homosexual marriages. In addition,
homosexual marriages bring forth benefits to the economy, and their lives are harmless to society.
Therefore, homosexual marriages should be entitled to live happy, legal lives.
Rejecting certain groups the alternative to marrying is discrimination amongst themselves which
forms second class citizens. For years, we have fought against discrimination, but fighting for

In other words, if homosexual couples were allowed the same benefits as homosexual couples the
economy will become more stable. Heterosexual couples could bring in a lot of money if they were
offered the same benefits the homosexual receives.
In addition, people cannot grasp the evolution of marriage. Traditional marriages have changed
periodically; therefore, marriages are not considered traditional. For instance, the article Gay Marriage
explains Official unions between same sex couples, indistinguishable from marriages except for
gender, are believed ... to have been common until the 13th century in many countries... (Procon.org).
Therefore, heterosexual marriages have been around unexplainably for quite a while. In addition, there
could not be a meaning of traditional marriage. All marriages are different from others. For example,
some marriages are interracial marriages, and others are open marriages. Therefore, Heterosexual
marriages could be no different from a traditional marriage. People make same sex marriages out to be
a negative effect. Traditional marriages, open marriages, or heterosexual marriages do not matter
because they all have the same love connection between each other.
Positively, Homosexual marriages are protected by the US Constitution. Therefore, people cannot
judge or hate homosexual marriages. The article Gay

Italian American Cultural Museum Research Paper
Immigration has been in motion from as far back as the 16th and 17th century. As a country that was
established due to immigration and the pursuit of freedom, it comes to no surprise that many people
from around the world fled to the United States. However, a substantial amount of Italians did not start
immigrating to America until the late 1870 s to 1924. More than 4 million Italians left Southern Italy
and Sicily due to poverty and political hardships. On top of that, the belief of a better life in America
was a large motivation and the dream that they can return to their motherland with more wealth, drove
them to explore outside of their country. In today s modern society, Italian Americans make America s
fifth largest ethnic group. In spite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Italians were part of a new movement of immigrants as the old movement consisted of Germans,
Scots, Irish and other European countries, making up the early history of the United States. The new
movement consists of slaves, Jews, and Italians as they were primarily the current immigrants coming
in and working labor in contrast to other immigrants who has been around a lot longer than they have.
This new sector was looked down and discriminated against, as the old movement had the perception
of being in a higher caliber than the other immigrants who was pouring in. The Italians that generally
settled in the United States are refugees or from low income families. The refugees sought protection
and stability, as Italy was an adequately new country with insufficient government control. This
occurred as Italy has been divided into states for over a century and slowly came together as one, even
though it was still divided by the rich and the poor (Two Sicily). On top of that, Mussolini who was
situated by Adolf Hitler, came to power and plummeted Italy s economy. As the Italians continued to
arrive, many settled within Lincoln Heights and the Eastside; gradually moving their way to the west,
Italian cities expanded and became one of the cities most populated and oldest neighborhoods of the
United States. Additionally, the population in the Eastside, was plagued with

Regulating Drugs Market
Regulated Market for Illegal Drugs
Drugs are a medicine or substance that has physiological effect. They can be used as a medication, or
for recreational, and even spiritual and religious use. Some drugs can be a great thing, like the ones
used to treat simple pains like headaches to things like deadly diseases to ease a person s pain or even
cure the disease. Drugs that can have a detrimental effect on a person s health or welfare are
considered a controlled substance. This means that these drugs are regulated by the state and federal
governments. Meaning if a person caught with a controlled substance they can be fined or and even
put in jail. Not all controlled substances are illegal, some are prescribed to the general public from

By doing this the governments created the prohibition laws. Based on wikipedia the prohibition of
drugs through sumptuary legislation (laws that attempted to regulate consumption) and religious laws
(ethical and moral codes taught by religious traditions) is a common means of attempting to prevent
the recreational use of certain recreational drugs and other intoxicating substances. Activities that
governments looked at as undesirable were put into prohibition. Theses included smoking, drinking,
gambling, drugs, and prostitution. These prohibitions led to criminal underworlds battling against
police states, in which the public never benefited from. During the prohibition of alcohol in the years
of 1920 1933 even though the consumption and the sale of alcohol was illegal it was still being made,
but the quality of the liquor was not that good and people ended up with methanol poisoning which
led to blindness and even death. There was also a story of how the U.S. government poisoned alcohols
intended for industrial use killing an estimate of 10,000 people. The global war on drugs endorsed by
the United Nations is 55 years old. Early anti narcotic laws emerged in the 19th century to control the
trade in opium and later more drugs that people used and abused as a medicine or for recreational use.

Little Albert Experiment By John Watson And Rosalie Rayner
In 1920, John Watson and his student Rosalie Rayner performed the famous Little Albert experiment
where they conditioned an infant to fear a white rat and other furry animals. This experiment helped to
prove the theory of behaviorism, specifically in terms that fears could be taught or conditioned as
opposed to inheritance from biology. However, if John Watson and Rosalie Rayner performed this
experiment today, the experiment would violate multiple ethical standards set in place by the
American Psychology Association including 8.07b and 8.08c. 8.07b means that any deception used in
an experiment cannot inflict severe emotional or physical distress on participants. To relate this
standard to the Little Albert experiment, Watson and Rayner

Globalization and Lower Living Standards for Americans...
Kofi Annan, a UN diplomat, once said, ...that arguing against globalization is like arguing against the
laws of gravity. He is undoubtedly correct in this assessment. Indeed, globalization is no longer
something to be skeptical of, it is very real and is changing our world exponentially. The affects of
globalization, however, continue to be a heated topic for debate. Proponents praise the overall
economic lift provided by free trade, the diffusion of cultures, and the spread of democracy and
capitalism. Critics cry foul at the loss of national identity, the accelerated and uncontrolled use of
natural resources, and the redistribution of wealth into the hands of a few very powerful people and
corporations. Globalization is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If it had not been for the increasing awareness of other cultures brought about by globalization Yoga
would never have grown to the fad it is today. This prevalence of global fads can be seen in many
ways, especially in entertainment and technology. When I was younger I regularly read Japanese
manga comics. These comics, long popular in Japan, only recently became popular in America due to
the proliferation of American fan translations on the internet. Through manga I learned a lot of
Japanese culture and found hours of entertainment that I would not have experienced otherwise. As
with the entertainment of Japanese comics, I also play several video games designed in Japan and
regularly use technology such as the Sony Playstation. In fact, the computer I type on is of Korean
origin. Without globalization these parts of my life would be quite different. The prevalence of
technology and ideas can only have a positive impact on the world and my life. The more minds in the
world that can cooperatively work to improve our lives the better. My life has definitely been
impacted by this aspect of globalization and I am grateful for it. How many hours of enjoyment have I
gotten from international entertainment, how much easier does my computer make my life? These
things are not immediately quantifiable, but I can be sure that I would rather have these experiences
and technologies than to have missed out on them. In addition to the affects of globalization on my life

Essay On Hypocrisy In Tartuffe
Moliere during his creation of Tartuffe wanted to bring to attention the underlying issues which were
occurring in society as people began to accept the change in social order and the way of doing things.
This was when the people who were lowly ranked by the aristocrats began to get the attention they
deserved because of the changes and the impact they were making in the society. Moliere in Tartuffe
also wanted to show the hypocrisy which was evident in I m institutions like aristocracy, church and
the working class citizens. Moliere fixed opposite attributes to the characters from the play so that
they could they could represent how irrationality, hypocrisy, and corruption could manifest themselves

In Act, I scene I Madame Parnelle is irritated and irked by the servants in his son s house because they
are paying the deserved attention to her even though she is not in need of any service. Her aristocracy
upbringing demands that servants so are available to her beck and call and they should be nearby if a
need arises. The boiling point of her anger is exemplified when Dorine who is a housemaid at Orgon s
house makes a remark against the guest Tartuffe you may see him as a saint, but Im far less awed
because I see right through him for the frauds that he is (Moliere, p.9). This statement works to be true
in the end because Tartuffe is exposed as a conniving fraud and Madame Parnelle words which had
elevated Tartuffe proved to be false. In her defense of Tartuffe, Madame Parnelle had called Tartuffe a
saint as we will ever find on this side of heaven ( Moliere, p.8). This is because Tartuffe is always
quoting the bible in his conversations which make him seem pious in the eyes of the aristocrats which
subscribed to religion a lot during the neo classical period.
Tartuffe exemplifies the desire for equality and dignity for all irrespective of the social standings
because in the midst of all the drama that was

Brutus Motive For Killing Caesar Essay
He was not of an age but for all time! (Blake) said Ben Jonson, an English playwright, poet and
literacy critic of the seventeenth century, of William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar,
was written in 1599 and was considered his [most readable work] (Glencoe McGraw Hill). Centuries
after the play was written, readers, actors, and theater goers have continued to question Brutus motive
for killing Caesar. His conflict between his loyalty to his friend and his country is shown throughout
the play. Brutus says, Since Cassius first did whet me against Caesar, I have not slept. (Shakespeare
801, 1.2.61 63) which demonstrates that he could not and would not kill Caesar without having good
cause for doing so. A look at Brutus s selfless reasons for turning against his friend Caesar shows that
he is a patriot and not a traitor. The other conspirators want to kill Caesar because they are envious and
jealous of his power, but Brutus wants to keep Rome a free country. Brutus is driven by patriotism, the
need to act on his values, and the need to keep the good name of his ancestors. For these reasons,
Brutus was justified in siding with the conspirators and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

saw his ancestors, not as a murderer without cause. Brutus explains to Cassius that they must kill
Caesar to save Rome, but they must not kill Antony too, Our course will seem too bloody, Caius

Antony is but a limb of Caesar; Let us be sacrificers, but not butchers, Caius. (Shakespeare 805,

His character is greedy, ruthless, and the murderer of the citizens of Malta. Yet the audience still roots for this character as he commits sin after sin in the name of justice. He is ambitious and charismatic, and unjust circumstances earn him sympathy. Shakespeare, inspired by the idea of a villainous hero, creates a marlovian character with a twist. With this he acknowledges the possible consequence on his soul for his crime. Once Hamlet gains the proof he hunted for of Claudius guilt, he continues with his excuses. Hamlet believes if Claudius is killed while he is praying his soul will be forgiven and go straight to heaven. The Danish prince claims this is hire and salary, not revenge (Shakespeare 3.3.84), therefore losing an uncomplicated opportunity to kill Claudius. Due to his hesitation throughout the play, enough time passes for a murder plot to be conspired against him. This leads to his ultimate downfall but also springs him into action. Until now I have never heard of or read about Market Based Management. I m privileged to know someone who worked at Georgia Pacific where the employees were required to take courses. They used guiding principles for reviews and evaluations. By using these dimensions along with the guiding principles we presume and organization will be successful both internal and external. This has been proved successful for Koch Industries, however there are still arguments that it doesn t apply to all business sectors. For example: Let s take the dimension Incentives. An employee performing the day to day activities improves a process and the accomplishments of time saving or elimination. Based on the MBM Incentive, this should be rewarded. This will be acknowledged by direct reports but then taken up the chain command, only to find out that it s not relevant at that level. How does this employee get rewarded based on the guidelines? Separation of Powers Essay Ange Miller Separation of Powers essay American National Government 6 Professor: Aimellia Siemson The concept of separation of governmental powers is an essential principle to our democracy. The Separation of Powers devised by the framers of the Constitution was designed to do one primary thing: to prevent the majority from ruling with an iron fist, so the framers shied away from giving any branch of the new government too much power. There were three branches created within the Constitution the Legislature, Executive, and Judicial, each of which have a distinct function and fine lines separating them. When people are unsure about the meaning of a law, the judicial branch listens to many opinions and makes a decision. The judicial branch is made up of courts and the highest of these courts is the U.S. Supreme Court and is made up of 9 judges. Courts decide arguments about the meaning of laws, how they are applied, and whether they break the rules of the Constitution. There are two types of R D, also known as research and experimentation (R E), funding models; one is direct federal research dollars given to industry, typically for basic research, and the other in the use of tax credits for R D activities. Even more, some people classify themselves by their moral obligations, setting standards that they may view as higher or different than their adversaries. • 22. Upgrading Pavement Design 1. Introduction 1.1 Background Before the 1920 s, pavement design consisted mainly of major thicknesses of layered materials to provide strength and protection to weak subgrade. The pavement design was predominantly against subgrade shear failure. During those times, experience based on success and failures of previous projects was used to formulate pavement design methods. As time wore on and experience grew, several design methods based on shear strength were developed. Meanwhile, the increased traffic volume led to changes in the design criteria. In consideration of subgrade support provision, pavement performance through ride quality (smoothness) and surface distresses that increase the deterioration rate of pavement structures had to be evaluated. The attention was then mainly drawn to pavement performance rather than shear strength. Methods based on serviceability were developed based on test track experiments. The AASHTO design guide was then developed after the AASHO Road Test in the late 1950 s. Although test track experiments showed good accuracy, they were valid only for materials and climatic conditions for which they were developed. • 23. New England Patriots Deflated Footballs I do believe that the New England Patriots deflated footballs in the American Football Conference championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. The game was held on January 18, 2015, at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. The National Football League requires footballs to be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch of air (2016 NFL Rulebook). Before halftime the Colts linebacker, D Qwell Jackson, intercepted a pass from the Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady. Later, Jackson said the football appeared spongy, which describes the texture of an underinflated ball (Deflategate Timeline). At halftime all twelve of the Patriots footballs were measured, and all twelve were below the minimum pressure (Deflategate). After the game when the National Football League launched an investigation, they hired Ted Wells to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the report was published, the Patriots argued that the pressure gauges used to measure the footballs were inaccurate; however, during the testing two different gauges were used, and both were made by different companies (Deflategate). Also, the gauges were tested after the game, and both were determined to be accurate (Deflategate). The Patriots also argued that the pressure temperature law was the cause of the low pressure in the footballs (Deflategate). This law, also known as Gay Lussac s law, stated that a decrease in temperature would cause a decrease in pressure and vice versa (ChemTeam: Gas Law Gay Lussac s Law). The Patriots said that according to this law when the footballs were brought outside in the cold air from the warm locker room, where the balls were inflated, the decrease in temperature caused a decrease in pressure (Deflategate). HeadSmart labs, a well trusted scientific consulting group, stated that after accounting for all environmental factors present during the time of the game the pressure temperature law could cause at most one and eight tenths pounds per square inch of air to be expelled from the ... They incubated dreams by travelling afar, by fasting and by engaging in all other manners of self deprivation or intoxication. With the exception of this highly dubious role, dreams do seem to have three important functions: a. To process repressed emotions (wishes, in Freud s speech) and other mental content which was suppressed and stored in the unconscious. b. To order, classify and, generally, to pigeonhole conscious experiences of the day or days preceding the dreaming ( day residues ). Defences are gradually dismantled and a new, more functional, view of the world is established. This is a painful and frightening process. This function of the dream is more in line with Jung s view of dreams as compensatory . The previous three functions are complementary and, therefore, Freudian. It would seem that we are all constantly engaged in maintenance, in preserving that which exists and inventing new strategies for coping. We are all in constant psychotherapy, administered by ourselves, day and night. Dreaming is just the awareness of this on going process and its symbolic content. We are more susceptible, vulnerable, and open to dialogue while we sleep. The dissonance between how we regard ourselves, and what we really are and between our model of the world and reality this dissonance is so enormous that it calls for a (continuous) routine of evaluation, mending and re invention. Otherwise, the whole edifice might crumble. The delicate balance between we, the dreamers, and the world might be shattered, leaving us defenceless and dysfunctional. To be effective, dreams must come equipped with the key to their interpretation. We all seem to possess an intuitive copy of just such a key, uniquely tailored to our needs, to our data and to our circumstances. This Areiocritica helps us to decipher the true and motivating meaning of the dialogue. This is one reason why dreaming is discontinuous: time must be given to interpret and to ... Such is the case in Naked, the story of a forty six year old woman whose placid outer identity is ripped away by a brutal assault while out hiking not far from her fashionable, University Heights neighborhood. Like many of Oates stories and in this regard she probably owes something to Flannery O Connor Naked focuses on a woman so entrenched in her rigid self image that nothing short of violence could make her vulnerable to a humbling, though redemptive, self knowledge. Her aristocracy upbringing demands that servants so are available to her beck and call and they should be nearby if a need arises. The boiling point of her anger is exemplified when Dorine who is a housemaid at Orgon s house makes a remark against the guest Tartuffe you may see him as a saint, but Im far less awed because I see right through him for the frauds that he is (Moliere, p.9). This statement works to be true in the end because Tartuffe is exposed as a conniving fraud and Madame Parnelle words which had elevated Tartuffe proved to be false. In her defense of Tartuffe, Madame Parnelle had called Tartuffe a saint as we will ever find on this side of heaven ( Moliere, p.8). This is because Tartuffe is always quoting the bible in his conversations which make him seem pious in the eyes of the aristocrats which subscribed to religion a lot during the neo classical period.
