Who would be the attracted demographic to roadrunner
1. Who would be the attracted demographic to Road Runner?
Road Runner does not differ from most Social Realism films’ chosen formula, in our using
of traditional conventions such as so far:
● Main protagonist from the working class
● Social issues affecting these characters. For example, gang culture, violence,
murder, bullying, or a loss of some kind, be it house, job.
Due to the fact that these qualities have made recent and past Social Realism films
successful in the UK, people are more attracted and persuaded to watch the film which
influences the writers and directors to use elements of different codes and conventions
into their work. We have tried to use the same method to attract the target audience
who appeal to the stereotypical interest of a British Social Realism, the target
demographic would be the older working/middle class audience aged 35-50 year olds
and a more younger demographic e.g. 15-25 year olds.
Recent Social Realism have proved this theory:
Working class are most likely to be interested in watching my film from the opening due
to the location and the characters persona and costume. The location of the film
opening varies from an estate to the urban environment and this is shown to the
audience through both image and sound, which can create a personal approach to the
2. audience as they feel as if they are there. The costumes which the characters wear are
young and modern which could make the chosen target audience relate to the
characters, it also represents the social class.
The success rate of Social Realism has towards the
working/middle class and teenage/young adult
demographic has allowed the genre to hybrid with
other genre’s, For example in ‘London to Brighton’
the film was a Social Realism/Thriller due to the
heightened suspense and action, this is effective
because it appeals more to the wider audience.
