The target audience for the social realist media product is people aged 15 to 25 from urban areas of the UK who can relate to the social problems explored. While the film primarily focuses on the experiences of boys, some girls also enjoy the genre. The combination of social realism and crime genres expands the audience further to include young people in business interested in the crime aspects.

2. The social realist films allow people to
fulfil their needs of experiencing and
understanding the problems young people
face in society.

3. My target audience is between the ages of
15 and 25. Younger people are not suitable
to watch these films due to strong violence
etc. People in the age range above this
could enjoy the films too but their
experience levels will not be that high
because they will be less effected by the
social problems faced by young people in
that genre. Some people above the age
range could decide to watch the film in
order to see the change in society from the
time they were in that age group.

4. The setting plays a big part for the
audience and it narrows it down to a
specific group. Due to the fact that it is in
the UK with urban settings, my target
audience should be from a similar area so
that they can relate to the story.

5. The characters in my film are mainly boys
so I would expect my target audience to be
majority boys, but through my audience
feedback I have learnt that some girls also
enjoy social realist films.

6. As our opening is a hybrid of social
realism and crime, our target audience
expands even to young people in the
business world. Not everyone relates to the
social realism side of the story therefore
the crime side allows people to simply
enjoy the film.
