John Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism
Happiness in terms of logic is considered to be a vague expression, meaning it has a wide range of
interpretations, as well as having no clear meaning. John Stuart Mill, an English philosopher, based
his controversial sentiments of happiness on Jeremy Bentham s utilitarianism, believing that goods are
the means to greatest happiness for the greatest number of peoples. Epicurus, an Ancient Greek
philosopher, who similarly encouraged people to follow his pleasure based philosophy to obtain
happiness. Unlike Mill, Epicurus philosophy is based on individualistic hedonism, which often may
seem more practical and acceptable. Although, Mill s utilitarianism is indeed a form of social
hedonism rather than individual pleasure seeking, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, unlike Jeremy Bentham, the father of utilitarianism, Mill was able to clarify
misinterpretations and controversies by additionally incorporating his own social, political and moral
theories that seemed fit with the philosophy.
Epicureanism belongs in the same hedonistic category as Mill s utilitarianism, but unlike
utilitarianism, Epicurean principles are not commonly used in American government and politics.
From afar, Epicureanism may seem the most practical and relatable because one may look and assume
that it is simply about indulging in pleasures as long as it makes you happy. However, that is a naive
interpretation, as Epicureanism promotes pleasure, but only the natural and necessary ones. Along
with only following the natural and necessary pleasures, it also highlights the importance of
suppressing desires that cause one to long for pleasures that aren t necessary.
In Epicurus Principal Doctrines, he writes, on a basis of power sufficient to afford supports and of
material prosperity arises in most genuine form the security of a private life withdrawn from the
multitude (2), meaning that wealth should not be a good that contributes to happiness. This may be
relatable and useful for certain individuals who devalue material goods, however, this would not be
plausible for the American

How Does Walt Disney Affect Society
Walt Disney effected most Americans, weather during his lifetime or after. He engaged audiences of
all ages with his creations. The public adored Mickey Mouse debut in 1928s Steamboat Willie. Walt
continued off this sensational hit with Silly Symphonies in 1929. Silly Symphonies does no only
feature Mickey, but Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. He also took part in World War II
by making cartoons. One of these cartoons was Der Fuehrer s Face, where we see Donald Duck dream
of being in a world controlled by Nazis. He starts off his day by saying Hail Hitler and eating a less
than adequate breakfast then going to work in a heavily guarded factory. Der Fuehrer s Face won the
Academy Award for Best Animated Short Subject in 1943. Mr. Disney also created training films for
the army. One of these training films is Stop that Tank! Where it demonstrates how to use the Anti
Tank Rifle in an amusing fashion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and the Seven Dwarfs. It was a humongous success, winning eight Oscars despite the dilemma the
country was in. Five years after Snow White s premiere he release four more classical films which
were Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi. After a major setback in 1941 Disney went back to
making feature length films in 1950 which brought about Cinderella, a live action film called Treasure
Island, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and 101 Dalmatians.

The European Community s Involvement in the Energy Sector
The European Union s total expenditures on research and development have grown rapidly since the
mid 1980s. For example, in the period between the EU s First Framework Programme for Research
and Technological Development (spanning the period 1984 1987) and the Fourth Framework
Programme (1994 1998), R D investments under the Framework Programme grew in real terms by
more than 120%. The budget for the Fifth Framework Programme (1998 2002) is projected to be
approximately $15 billion. R D investments in the health, biotechnology, information technology, and
transportation areas have grown most markedly in recent years. Energy R D constitutes a major, yet
declining, share of the total R D expenditures of the European Union (EU). Adoption in 1996 of a
Directive for the Internal Market for Electricity: The Directive marks the first major legislative step
toward the creation of an open and competitive European electricity market. Under this law, all
Member States were required to open at least 25.37% of their electricity markets to competition as of
February 1999. Under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, the European Union committed itself to an 8%
reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2008 2012. Greenhouse gas emissions
reduction and climate change mitigation now occupy a central position in EU Energy policy. The
increase in funding for renewable energy R D in the Fourth Framework Programme aimed to propel
the growth of renewable energy in Europe and to spur European

Modern Societies And Its Impact On Society
Modern societies are described most effectively against the background of what came before them.
The process of modernity is reactive; it s meaning is derived by a comparison with, and by rejection or
negation of preceding agrarian and industrial societies. Traditional, or pre modern societies take as
their basic unit the community or the collective. The family constitutes production and consumption as
well as socialization, indicative of a rudimentary division of labour. Further, traditional societies
facilitate a worldview that is wholly comprehensive. Durkheim describes this as the collective
consciousness . People derive their outlook largely through the different ways that they interact with
society, and because these societies have high degrees of similarity, and a shared set of moral values
and beliefs, members experience the world in similar ways. In this contrasting view, modernization
can be viewed as a process of individualization, specialization and abstraction. In the structure of
modern society, the individual dominates the collective. The division of labour is complex. People
become alienated from the process of production as specialization increases and their occupations
become more specific, consequently disconnecting them from the products of their labour. Moreover,
modern societies facilitate a worldview that is abstract. While traditional societies are based on
similarity, modern societies are based on differences, thus differentiating the way

Primary Objective Of Starting A Business Essay
The primary objective of starting a business is to gain customers, and it is the most crucial part in the
success of running a business. In order to thrive into today s economy business entities across the
globe use marketing as a tool for gaining new customers and retaining the existing ones (Wood, 2008).
Thus, marketing remains to be the main backbone of new and existing businesses successes.
Apparently, there are several basic concepts of marketing, which are commonly used by numerous
marketers of goods and services. These marketing concepts comprise of the sellers, consumers, the
product development, the market research, product positioning, the product image, the product
concept, and the brand loyalty. These concepts combined with the marketing boundaries help in
determining the consumer behaviour of the product under marketing. It is important to state that the
marketing concepts dictate that the success of a firm often depends on the marketing efforts that a
company employs (Wood,2008) The concepts also dictate that the successes of a company will depend
with how it delivers a better value proposition compared to its competitors. Thus, it is appropriate for
the stakeholders of a given business entity to understand that that effective marketing drive consumers
into the company.

Research Paper On Dodo Bird
The Mysterious Dodo
Picture yourself running through the woods as quickly as your legs can move you, with a heap of
emotions running through your brain. You feel betrayed, offended, helpless, terrified. You had never
been an aggressive animal. You were friendly, you didn t eat animals, and it s not like you had the
abilities to overpower anything if you did eat them. This may aid your imagination of what the dodo
bird went through while being hunted down by the Portuguese. The dodo bird may seem like a tedious
animal; However, the bird, it s misconception, and how it became extinct are intriguing in a way that
you may find odd.
The dodo bird is not an extremely famous bird, like the beautiful parrot, or the perfectly pink
flamingo. Many people aren t educated on what the bird was genuinely like, or even what the bird is.
The dodo is a flightless bird from an island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. It is part of the
Raphidae family(Dodo 1), which consists of pigeons and doves. The dodo clings to the forest in
Mauritius and has been extinct since the 17th century(Extinct Bird 1), eating only nuts, fruits, or seeds
it found on the ground(Viral Stats). The dodo bird has a comical appearance, that one could only
imagine. It s unique visuals were small useless wings, thick yellow legs, and a tuft of feathers high on
its rear end (Dodo 2). These odd characteristics made it easy for people to deride the dodo bird. In
terms of size, the dodo was larger than a turkey, it

Varicella Zoster virus that causes a blister like itchy rash all over the body. The rash is the disclosing
indication of chicken pox (Mayo Clinic 2015). While signs and symptoms of chicken pox will usually
appear one to two days prior to the rash, the rash itself will last from five to ten days. The symptoms
that appear before the rash are headache, fever, general malaise, cough and loss of appetite. There are
three phases of rash once it appears; Phase 1 red or pink papules all over the body for several days;

Varicella is endemic worldwide. In areas where the climate is temperate chicken pox lends itself to be
a childhood disease, with the highest incidence affecting preschool and young school age children.
The incidence of chicken pox is highest in the late winter and early spring. In climates that tend to be
more tropical, the incidence appears in the coolest, driest seasons and transmitted later in childhood or
early adulthood (Marin amp; Bialek 2015). In households where there are multiple family members,
the contagiousness is approximately 85%, but less in community exposure (Marin amp; Bialek 2015).
Since the utilization and application of childhood vaccinations for Varicella in the United States, a
consequential decline has presented itself. The risk of Chicken pox has remained higher in other parts
of the world. Other countries that have begun routinely immunizing their children and have seen a
decrease in incidents are Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Greece, Korea, Latvia, Luxembourg, Qatar,
Saudi Arabia, UAE, Uruguay and some areas of Spain and Italy. The varicella vaccine is the best
prevention for chicken pox. According to the CDC it is estimated that vaccination of varicella
provides complete protection for approximately 90% of the children who

Military Maps
In the Yale Center for British Art, one can find a beautiful map, titled: The Description of Jarsey
a(nn)o 1600. One noticeable trait that stands out with this map compared to others in the 16th and
early 17th centuries is the exquisite detail of topographical features. According to an exhibition of the
map, this is from the collection of George Legge, first Baron Dartmouth; previously in the English
Royal map collection (Yale Center, From the Collection). One might wonder why a map, with the
extensive detail that this has, would be in the hands of the Royal Collection and thus commissioned by
Queen Elizabeth. According to R. A. Skelton: it is not difficult to see how, in the course of business,
some maps might have come into the hands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the map, one can see a tool indicating the scale of the map. This same looking tool can be found in
the book Compass and Rule in an exhibition called Bartholomew Newsam, set of drawing
instruments, c. 1570. This is the only known surviving Elizabethton drawing set in modern day
(Gerbino 61). This tool could have been used to scale the map, which can be seen in the one square
mile gridlines. In addition, by connecting these tools to those used likely by military engineers, one
can assume that the gridlines had a purpose besides denoting the scale of the map. If only the scale
was important, the British could have simply put a key on the map showing 1 inch = 1 square mile, for
example. Since they drew the entire grid, it could be interpreted as being done to perhaps reproduce
the map for military purposes. It may have been easier to redraw the map to accurate scale by
producing these gridlines. Thus, one could predict that this map may have been reproduced in a
smaller form for military personnel to effectively defend this

Speech On The Role Of A King
The role of a king is to be Kingly. In doing such he must be influential and have personal integrity, be
calm and balanced, be able to protect and maintain order, be hard working and energetic, bless and
acknowledging the efforts of other people, to teach and deliver his wisdom, to show no fear in the face
of adversity, and to be well spoken and deliver speeches. Being well spoken has many different
meanings to different cultures around the world, but as a king... one must be able to articulate words,
have passion and purpose, have a good personality, be creative, have an expressive voice, and a sense
of humor, have a decent wardrobe, and be a good story teller. Just having good posture isn t enough.
When addressing the nation a king has a job of energizing his audience by any means necessary to
help in the delivery of their message. Their main goal is to produce something special for their
audience, or rather their peoples . Convincing them that what they have to say is more important than
anything they ve heard and that it is different than all the rest of his predecessors. Kings create their
own distinctive view of reality for an immense and diverse listening, and sometimes viewing,
audience. In almost every situation a king speaks to the world. However; most of the time posture or
facial expression were not even of importance to royalty in this era because they delivered speeches
over radio waves. Memorization was not of importance in this situation either because no

The European Union ( Brexit ) And The Refugee Crisis
Two consistent trends have been reported within reputable sources regarding the topic of the European
Union are the upcoming E.U. referendum taking place in Britain (Brexit) and the refugee crisis. The
European Union is faced with its impending decline, which has accelerated in recent weeks with
concerns about the British referendum becoming an immediate issue on the continent. A possible
Brexit could possibly lead to the fifth largest economy in the world and the second largest economy in
the Eurozone from leaving the European Union (E.U). The Brexit is the most contested issue both
within the United Kingdom (U.K) and the European continent. In the wake of a rampant security and
refugee crises in Europe, Europe s need to have an economically strong member of the E.U is needed
to combat the difficulties the continent is facing, particularly the Mediterranean members of the E.U
who are most heavily affected by the influx of people escaping Syria and Turkey, taking refuge in
recovering countries such as Greece, in hope of further immigrating to their country of choice, namely
Germany and Austria.
With tensions in the Middle East escalating, the refugee crisis in Europe is worsening, the increasing
number of people is led the E.U to consider isolating Greece from the rest of the Schengen area
(passport free travel area in Europe) by closing off its borders (Corder, 2016). With an average of 2000

Why Is Charlemagne Important
Charlemagne was born in Ingeleim April 2, 742. His death was on the date of January 8, in either year
813 or 814. The exact year is unknown. He died in Aix la Chapelle. He married a woman named
Hildegrade, and later had a child with her. Their daughter was born on April 30, 783. Charlemagne
inherited a few things from his brother and father. They included a military organization, wealth, and
power. (Charlemagne.org)
Charlemagne was known as a strong king, and led the Franks to creating an empire of greatness. He
went into battle, conquering many neighboring kingdoms. The kingdoms included were France,
Northern Spain, Austria, and Italy. It is also said he was a great warrior, most of his time was spent at
war. He was later crowned by Pope Leo the third, to be the new emperor of the Romans though at first
he did not agree to it. (text book and notes.)
He was called Charles the great by many. This man built schools through out the whole empire
because he admired education. Scholars were brought with him to influence and teach his people
about religious and social life. He was important in history because he was a big part of the spread of
Christianity. (Notes) He was a promoter of civilization in the age of darkness. Before Charlemagne

The Change Of Wor Vs. Dimensionless Time
As Yortsos et al. (1999) have shown in their work, the change of WOR vs. dimensionless time is
governed by the time regime. He distinguished four such time regimes: Early time, before water
breaks through the layers of a reservoir (Fig. 1, b) in which WOR remains almost constant; The stage
immediately following water breakthrough, when water saturation near the producer is low (Fig. 1, c).
This regime can be analysed using the 1D displacement equation for intermediate values of water
saturation (Eq. 8) which suggests that at intermediate values of water saturation at the
producer,S_w^*≤0.5, the WOR time relationship is described with a linear function of logW vs. logt

Using diagnostic plots of log[(1+W)2/(Wt)] vs. logW Yortsos et al. (1999) showed numerically that
for large water oil viscosity ratio and small Corey exponent to oil, the flood front water saturation is
relatively low. As a result the behavior immediately following breakthrough described by Eq. 8 is
valid over a wide range of WOR, in which case the ratio [(1+W)2/(Wt)] remains approximately
constant for an extensive range of WOR. Conversely, for small viscosity ratios, the late time behavior
becomes dominant at much lower values of WOR. His studies were supported by numerical

Ivanhoe
In everybody s life there is something that makes him strive for success. That something can be
money, women, fame, or many other incentives.. To the medieval knights, victory renown and glory
are the ambitions they strive for. Breaking a law in this code would be considered a disgrace, and
would bring a dishonor that was worse than death itself. However, by applying the Code of Chivalry,
the knights in the medieval time displayed certain character traits which would secure success and
honor in both battle and morality. In the book Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, a knight named Ivanhoe
illustrates this by devoting his attention to keeping the rules of the Code of Chivalry, which consisted

If his home country of England is to lose the battles, he and his country would be disgraced. His fear
of disgrace helps lead him on. Having a fear of disgrace shows the reader that having this motive can
lead one on to success. br br People can learn a lesson not only about glory, but of bravery also.
Besides glory, bravery is used throughout the novel also. An example of this is when Sir Brian de Bois
Guilbert dies for Rebecca. Ivanhoe demonstrates bravery when he fights Brian to repay Rebecca for
her care when he is hurt. He is also very brave when he fights for his Saxon image. Even though he is
not a major character in this book, Robin Hood also shows bravery. He robs from the rich and gives to
the poor which breaks certain parts in the Code of Chivalry. Through his actions, he fulfills part of the
Code. He is brave and has a love of adventure in doing so, but his integrity and respect to the king is
taken by his criminal actions. People can learn from these examples that sometimes being brave is not
pretty. Both Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert and Robin Hood had to suffer consequences for being brave. br
br Bravery is very important to knights. If they are not brave they are disgraced, which is something
they fear the most. Ivanhoe s motto is Death is better than defeat, this shows his fear of disgrace.

Economics In Steven Levitt s Freakonomics
Every action I have and will ever take in my life can be analysed through the tools of economics. This
is true for many sciences; such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Psychology, to name but a few.
However what sets Economics apart is how it is perhaps the only science that would significantly and
consistently improve the quality of my decisions if applied. Further more, what makes Economics
truly outstanding is its diversity and broad range of application.
I have recently began reading economic literature, it seems as if the more I read the more enthralling
Economics becomes. A novel I have read recently, Freakonomics by Steven Levitt, Stephen Dubner, is
about the versatility of data, how data can be used to solve complex problems and how data can
provoke insightful questions. I remember one night thinking how some lawyers earn a lot of money
while others have an average salary, instantly a torrent of ideas washed over me, I realised that this
discrepancy in wages is proof that the criminal justice system is unfair and biased towards those who
can afford a superior lawyer. So much data could be collected and collated, so many interesting
questions could arrive from this study such as do people who are wealthier behave more ethically then
those less well off.
I enjoy challenges, the more abstract or harder a concept is the more I will try to understand it fully.

Regarding the provenance of the raw materials, in this work we focus in the limestone, being an
important construction material that was not present in the immediate surroundings of
Tenochtitlan. In fact, this was an island city, located in the middle of a volcanic basin, and the nearest
geological limestone outcrops were located far away. According to the historical sources written
during the 16th century, the Aztecs imported by way of tribute and commerce lime and limestone from
different regions. For instance, the tributary lists known as the Matrícula de

periodically from Tepeacac (a province located in the modern state of Puebla) and from Atotonilco ...

On the other hand, the native informants of Friar
Bernardino de Sahagún (1979, xi:221r) speak about different kinds of limestone used to paint:
chimaltizatl and tetizatl. After Sahagún (2000, 1132), the first came from Huaxtepec (near
Cuernavaca, Morelos) and was sold in the market, while the second one was obtained in the small
rivers near Tula (in the modern state of Hidalgo). For the new enlargement of the Templo
Mayor ordered around ad 1467 by Motecuhzoma I, mentioned above, the lime would have been
provided by the people from the Cuernavaca area, in the modern state of Morelos (Durán 1984;

in the outcrops exploited, could therefore help in better understanding the relationship between the
Mexicas and their neighbours in Central Mexico and verifying what the historical sources suggest.

Disadvantages For Art Therapists
Art therapists are not arts and crafts coordinators, they are highly educated individuals who use art as
a communicative tool in therapy sessions. They do this by allowing their patients to create a piece of
art before or during a discussion. This gives them the ability to address aspects of the individuals
emotions that may have before been concealed. (Dalley, 2008) In order to accurately analyze the
meaning and execution of a painting or drawing the art therapist must be fluent in psychology as well
as studio art. Becoming a licensed art therapist is not a simple accomplishment, a master s degree is
required for an entry level position in the field. This degree consists of twelve credit hours in classes
relating to therapy, psychology, human development, and ethics; as well as eighteen credit hours of
studio art. After completing their Master s degree art therapists must go onto become board certified
by the Art Therapy Credentials Board, seek state licensure, and in some cases even obtain a PHd. Art
therapists are dynamic professionals who practice in an array of different environments including
schools, prisons, hospitals, mental health wards, and nursing homes. ( American , 2017) They are
passionate and resilient individuals who deserve the respect given to any other professional in the
healthcare field. The American Art Therapy Association s credentials and licensure section of their

Summary Of For That He Looked Not Upon Her By George...
In the poem, For That He Looked Not upon Her, by George Gascoigne, the speaker longs for a woman
who is dangerously tempting, yet trustless. This situation of forbidden desire develops an attitude of
sorrow, regret, and longing of the man. The English sonnet s quatrains, harsh and grievous diction, and
strong visual and tactile imagery assist in developing his conflicting emotions which cause his
complex attitude. For That He Looked Not upon Her is an English sonnet written in the sixteenth
century. Like all English sonnets, this is written in iambic pentameter, which creates an ironically
conversational and light tone for a topic that is focused on restricted lust, broken heartedness, and
pain. The first quatrain of Gascoigne s sonnet introduces the image of the speaker keeping his head
low, ashamed, refusing to glimpse the face of the woman he is speaking to. To help her understand his
actions, the second quatrain compares the speaker s situation to that of a mouse going after trustless
bait (6). Like a mouse trap, the speaker knows the dangers the woman holds, yet pursued her
regardless. The third quatrain again uses metaphor, explaining how, like a fly attracted to fire, the
speaker realizes the consequences of his lust ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first metaphor uses the image of a mouse pursuing trustless bait, and the fear it ensues (5 8).
Visual images of the mouse trap depict the perilous consequences of the woman s alluring traps set for
the speaker. The second metaphor uses visual and tactile imagery to depict a fly attracted to a fatal fire
(9 12). By comparing the lover to fire, it can be inferred that the speaker has been seriously injured by
his burning desire for her, and that she hurt him through her treacherous tricks. The hanging of the
man s head shows his sorrow and woe for the woman he wants but cannot, and should not,

Hybrid Electric Vehicles ( Electric Vehicle )
Imagine a world in which the air we breathe is clean, the skies are blue, automobiles are sleek and
fast, and don t burn fossil fuels. That world could be coming. It s a world filled with clean running
electric vehicles. An EV (electric vehicle) is a vehicle that gets some or all of its power for propulsion
from the electric grid. These cars present one of the best alternatives to gas based vehicles as they are
environmentally friendly, and circumvent the distribution of harmful elements such as carbon
emissions into the atmosphere. Some of the manufactures for the EVs and their models include the
Nissan LEAF, the Mitsubishi iMiEV, and plug in hybrid electric vehicles (part gasoline, part electric
battery), such as the Chevrolet Volt or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1908 the electric car suffered a big blow. That year, Henry Ford introduced the mass produced
Model T. It made gasoline powered cars widely available and affordable. By 1912, the gasoline car
cost only $650, while an electric car sold for $1,750. By the 1920s, the U.S. had much better roads
connecting cities, which Americans were eager to explore. When crude oil was discovered in Texas,
gas became cheap and was easily available to rural Americans, while few had electricity. By 1935,
electric vehicles had all but disappeared (Energy.gov, 2014). Commercially available EVs hit the
market again in 2011 (Larson, P., Viáfara, J., Parsons, R., Elias, A., 2014). Environmental concerns
about air quality, growing concerns about global warming, and finite fossil fuel supplies prompted a
new emphasis on the production of more fuel efficient vehicles (Nayum, Klöckner., Mehmetoglu,
2016). These concerns led to the development of improvements in automobile materials, system
technologies, and the design of improved rechargeable battery systems that are smaller, lighter weight,
and have a longer lasting charge. Advances such as these have rapidly accelerated the design of better,
more reliable EVs (Coffman, Bernstein, Wee, 2016). Unfortunately, sales of these vehicles are not
progressing as quickly as had been hoped, some prominent reasons being that EV vehicles are still too
expensive, consumers continue to have range anxiety (the fear of

Similarities Between James Garfield And Boo Radley A...
Imagine if someone was sentenced to forty years in prison, for a crime they did not commit. Well this
happened to two people on May 25, 1975. Ricky Jackson and Wiley Bridgeman went to jail for a
murder that they did not commit. They were released on November 21, 2014. This explains what a
mockingbird is. A mockingbird is someone who is innocent and does nothing but good for the world.
James Garfield and Boo Radley are both mockingbirds because they both tried to make the world a
better place, then they are expelled for their positive actions, and then they are finally their lives are
exposed for their actions. James Garfield and Boo Radley both tried to make the world a better place.
Garfield sought to finally move forward with his agenda for civil service reform and other initiatives.

describing Boo Radley, and how the town sees him. This is giving Boo Radley a bad reputation, even
though he is not a bad person. However, a disgruntled attorney who was refused a political
appointment changed all that. On July 2, 1881, Charles Guiteau (1841 82) fired two shots at Garfield
while the president was en route to a Williams College reunion. As Garfield fell to the ground, Guiteau
exclaimed, I am a Stalwart and Arthur is president now! (Guiteau was later convicted of Garfield s
murder and executed by hanging in 1882.) (History.com staff NP), This shows that Garfield was shot
by someone who did not like his ideas and actions. He should not have been shot because of his ideas
because they were trying to help

Sweet Home Vs. 124 Bluestone Road
Throughout the beginning of Beloved, it is apparent the two major settings of the novel, Sweet Home
and 124 Bluestone Road, are two different worlds the characters strive to keep separated, especially
those who lived in both places. When the past of Sweet Home threatens the freedom of 124 Bluestone,
the daily routines and relationships are compromised. This image of the past threatening the present
reoccurs, but it is especially evident when Paul D tells Sethe about Helle s insanity after witnessing
her attack. Through Sethe s viewpoint, the scene exploits how dangerous the past is to the present
world of the characters. After Paul D tells Sethe about the bit he had to wear at Sweet Home, she
realizes: He wants to tell me...He wants me to ask him what it was like for him (Morrison 71). This
opening of the past terrifies Sethe; however, as she looks at his face she sees: In that unlit daylight his
face, bronzed and reduced to its bones, smoothed her heart down (71). With this invitation, Paul D
discloses how he felt seeing the rooster, Mister, watching him from the top of a tub: Mister, he looked

Hallucinations In Macbeth
Shakespeare is known for using unnatural or supernatural elements in many of his works to reinforce
his themes. Several apparitions throughout the play affect Macbeth and the evil forces destroy his
morals. The super natural represents Macbeth s internal guilt and struggle. Three examples of this in
Macbeth are when Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo, Macbeth sees a bloody knife before he kills
Duncan and it is pointed toward Macbeth s chambers, and Lady Macbeth sees hallucinations that her
hands are bloodstained. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the world of visions, hallucinations, and ghosts
to develop important theme of how power drives people to commit unnatural actions of destruction
and violence. First, Ghosts and the witches lead a very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth sees a bloody knife before he kills Duncan and it is pointed toward Macbeth s chambers.
This is an example of the supernatural and it pushes Macbeth to commit the violent murder. He wishes
he had never built himself up to kill him. Lady Macbeth encouraged the murder. Macbeth sees a
hallucination of the bloody knife when he says, Is this dagger which I see before me/ The handle
toward my hand? Come, let me clutch / thee / I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. / Art thou not,
fatal vision, sensible / To feeling as to sight? (2.1.44 49) Macbeth sees the bloody knife because it
reminded him of killing Duncan. Lady Macbeth s blood stains on her hands is a connection to her role
in encouraging Macbeth to use violence to gain power even though she did not kill the people with her
hands. After Macbeth killed Duncan, he was very scared. He saw the blood on his hands and realized
he should not have killed Duncan. He is regretting that he killed him. As Macbeth waited to kill
Duncan he hears one of the servants laughing and one cried, Murder! and they woke each other up.
(2.2.31) One servant cried, God bless us! and the other replied, Amen. (2.2 Lines 37) Lady Macbeth

Moldavite Pendant Research Paper
The Log Bench What I need, I told myself, is to take the dogs for a walk. Maybe then I ll remember.
Two weeks I d spent looking for my grandmother s Moldavite pendant. I d been going crazy retracing
my steps notwithstanding the sentimental significance it held for me. Lying on her death bed, my
grandmother had given it to me for protection when I was fourteen. She cautioned me of the strong
energies it held and that this pendant would protect me from negative entities. Her great aunt had
given it to her with warnings of the intense frequency and high vibration that resonated from this
stone. Grandmother claimed it had brought true love into her life shortly after it was bequeathed to
her. My grandfather had served in both wars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remembering the intense reaction I d felt from the first time my grandmother had placed the pendant
into my palm and thereupon I knew that he was genuinely speaking. Continuing he added, If you look
to the south of the nest you will see your home. Ever since you were entrusted with the pendant I have
been watching as it s been my duty from the beginning of time to safeguard the Moldavite pendant
and its keeper. There have been many keepers of the pendant hence their reward has been protection.
Placing this pendant into the wrong hands would have an adverse impact on the earth and mankind as
it can be used destructively. It s natural green crystals have powerful transforming abilities that should
only to be used for the advantage of this planet. Are you following me? Yes, I have felt its power, I
replied as I cast my gaze downwards, but I lost it a couple weeks ago. I ve searched everywhere to no
avail. My grandmother entrusted me with it and now it s gone. I ve no idea where to search next. Will
you help me find it? Sparkles appeared in the crows eyes as he replied, It s here under my wing, and
pulled a silvery chain from under his wing. Beautiful arcs of rays projected all around us from this
delicate, oval, forest green pendant as the sunlight touched

Ecological Restoration At This Site Essay
Late stage shrubsThis site is located on Gunn Road on the outskirts of Matamata, Waikato. A tributary
of the Waitoa River flows through the middle of the site. The majority of the site has wet soils, and in
winter some areas can be prone to flooding, particularly nearer to the stream. Regardless the ground
tends to be boggy, particularly in winter. Consequently, this was historically conifer forest or swaps
(Waikato Regional Council, n.d. b). Currently, willow, grass and blackberry dominate the majority of
the site, with some existing flax plants in the wetter areas. For the most part the stream is fenced and
surrounded by a dairy farm, however often cows still get near the waterway, due to weak fences. It is
clear that this is a degraded site, with little indigenous flora or fauna. Consequently, there is a need for
ecological restoration at this site. Ecological restoration is the process of managing a site to return it to
its historic state in turns of ecosystem health and sustainability.
The general aim for this restoration is to eventually restore eight hectares of land adjacent to
tributaries to the Waitoa River to native forest, with the intention for future restoration projects to
continue along the Waitoa River to develop further riparian zones and forest patches. This will aid
biodiversity across the wider Waikato Region and also improve landscape amenity. A positive impact
on water quality is also anticipated, which will in turn improve recreation values for food

Comparison Of Blackboard Jungle And Rebel Without A Cause
Seeing a drastic shift of teenage culture within a decade is mesmerizing. After watching these two
movies I believe that there is a clear difference in how the teenage culture has shifted within a small
amount of time. The similarities between Blackboard Jungle and Rebel Without a Cause were that in
both movies the teenagers fit the stereotype of acting out of line. The difference is the, type of sound
track, different take on the youth movement. In Blackboard Jungle the sound track portrays a type of
rebellion mentality while in the movie Rebel Without a Cause there is an unknown type of mentality.
A contemporary example of these movies that have been made in recent years would be Step Up 2 The
Streets. To begin with, the similarity between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the movie Blackboard Jungle the sound track portrays a type of rebellion mentality while in the
movie Rebel Without a Cause there is an unknown type of mentality. The song that was playing in the
beginning of the movie Blackboard Jungle was called Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley. Because
of the up tempo beat and the lyrics it reminded me of a rebellion type of music. The song talks about
rocking around the clock so I can imagine the teenagers in the movie breaking the teachers records
while causing mad hysteria in the classroom. In the movie Rebel Without a Cause the song was more
an unknown type of mentality. When I heard the song at the beginning of the movie I didn t know
where the song was going to go for instance if the beat was going to increase or slow down. This
correlated in the movie because the main character Jim is used to leaving every time he makes a
mistake. On the other hand, this time he decides to stay and do the right thing. I think this shows that
there is still hope for the youth culture because they are able to realize their own mistakes without
parents. However, there was a belief that teenagers were a separate class they assumed that they were
separate and unequal. It s neat to see that rock n roll played a roll into the growing division. Rock n
roll helped separate and define their class in the USA. It helped merge the

Charlie is a very brave human throughout the entirety of Private Peaceful . As a person Charlie grows

danger, Charlie shows this on many occasions through the novel. Firstly Charlie shows bravery when
he steals Bertha, a white foxhound from the Colonel s kennel. I stole her. I ran off with her after dark,
through the trees so no one would see us revealed Charlie to Tommo. This act of selflessness takes
great bravery especially because Charlie knew the punishment he would receive. Charlie stole Bertha

Significant Action and Result For a long time, I have lived with fear. It may be cliched to say it, but
my fear of failure has been with me for years. It was what caused my hands to shake during a calculus

first time I applied. In a way it has been a defining feature of my academic career, always a shadow in
the back of my mind murmuring the deadly phrase but can you really do it? . That small voice has
been largely responsible for my reluctance to push myself academically, to actually see what I am
capable of. Last semester, my first at Texas A M, I mustered up enough courage to block out that voice

Improving the Records Management
Improving the Records Management
Implementation of Electronic Records Management Records management can be improved in many
ways. In my opinion, one of the ways is to implement the electronic records management. The
government should consider formulating policies, standards and practices, technical specifications and
training plans to enable its agencies including Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan to manage records in
electronic form. According to Arkib Negara Malaysia, The management of electronic records is not a
problem that needs to be solved. Its effective implementation in support of program/ service delivery,
decision making, etc., should be viewed from the perspective of the extent to which it can lead to cost
savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction and opportunity gain. This means that electronic records could
give a lot of benefits to the government agencies. As stated by Arkib Negara Malaysia, electronic
records management could help the government agencies to reduce its costs. The traditional records
management practiced by Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan for example requires the government to
actually spend more money. This is because, if we re looking this issue from a strategic view then it is
undeniable that the implementation of electronic records management could save costs. The existing
system practiced by the government requires them to maintain all the equipments and also hire
personnel to supervise the files room. Furthermore, it contributes to the increased usage

Immigration Policies And Naturalization Laws During World...
During the years between 1882 and 2000, immigration and naturalization were always important
issues for the United States. The United States stance on its policies and laws towards immigrants and
their naturalization saw drastic changes during this time period, which reasons ranges from American
s experience with the immigrants and the nation s changing relationship with other countries. During
the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the United States took a restrictive approach
on its immigration policies and naturalization law, mainly because of American s fear of job
competition with the immigrants, and also because of their racism. However, the change in
relationships between United States and other nations during World War II marked the turning point of
the nation s approach on those policies and laws, where the United States slowly began to reopen its
door of immigration. And in the late 20th century, the United States continued its approach on open
immigration policies and naturalization laws that began during World War II due to the same reason,
but at the same time the nation also passed restrictive policies towards undocumented immigrants.
During the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the United States policies towards
immigration and naturalization became more and more restrictive due to American s fear of
competition with immigrants for jobs and their buildup of racism towards those immigrants. Chinese
immigrants were the first

Power In George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty-Four
Power can be achieved through many different means in order to be successful. Living under the
control of a manipulating party is not the ideal way to live. Control that is obtained and not earned will
never lead to conditions worth living under. If a party obtains the influence over all states of being,
then their power will be quite difficult to destroy for good. People under this supervision can never
fully understand what needs to be done to stop the abuse for power for the reason that they have not
lived independent lives. This sense of powerful influence is what the Party has over the citizens of
Oceania. The Party is able to keep the society in check to its own beliefs through manipulation and the
deception of its own citizens. Winston, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thought it would work. He had the belief that he would be able to fight the influence and ultimately

Winston s head to the extent that, he did see them... He saw five fingers, and there was no deformity...
But there had been a moment...when two and two could have been three as easily as five. (267). This
was only the beginning of Winston s conformity, meaning everything went downhill from that point.
The party won in taking all pleasures away from Winston. Everything that connected Winston and
Julia was completely terminated by the Party. Winston thought he could keep his relationship forever,
yet all relationships are eventually destroyed by the Party s influence. Life could not be more hopeless
for Winston after all that time locked up. Becoming more and more dependent on the Party s
materials. Winston knew by the end that, The [gin] grew not less but more horrible with every
mouthful he drank. But it had become the element he swam in. It was his life, his death, and his
resurrection. (304). The gin provided by the Party is the only way Winston could keeping going. He

Persuasive Essay On Death Penalty
Death Penalty Since the year 1976, around 1,462 people in the United States have been executed by
lethal injection. Practiced in 31 states and abolished in 19 the death penalty has remained a center
stone of debate since its launch in 1976. With so many differing viewpoints, arguments pertaining to
the moral issue, legal considerations and possible alternatives have been left unsettled since. The
ongoing tug of war within these topics slowly tries to chip away at the big question. Should the death
penalty be allowed? Morality and human psychology show up as clear underlining factors when it

In their eyes, the death of murders relieves the burning vengeance and pain victims loved ones go
through. Opponents argue against the thought of revenge and any connection it has towards justice or
fulfilling the grief of death. They argue that vengeance only makes things worse and extends the chain
of violence, claiming it has no place in our justice system. Along with moral issues, social unfairness
such as poverty and race have always been woven into concern among the two sides. One argument
touches on the economic state of the convicted and how it affects his/her chances of being executed.
People of poverty don t have the money to hire a good legal representative leaving them with a weak
defense against their crime. I don t know of any affluent people who have been sentenced to death,
said Walter Berns, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. People of
poverty who are given a representative by the state find that often that their defendant is ill
experienced and underpaid. Court appointed death penalty lawyers are paid barely enough to cover
costs, are usually inexperienced, and often don t put up much of a fight, said Stephen Bright, director
of the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta. This imbalance in equity on an economic level
also rings true on an ethnic level through racial bias. In 82% of the studies

  • 2. John Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism Happiness in terms of logic is considered to be a vague expression, meaning it has a wide range of interpretations, as well as having no clear meaning. John Stuart Mill, an English philosopher, based his controversial sentiments of happiness on Jeremy Bentham s utilitarianism, believing that goods are the means to greatest happiness for the greatest number of peoples. Epicurus, an Ancient Greek philosopher, who similarly encouraged people to follow his pleasure based philosophy to obtain happiness. Unlike Mill, Epicurus philosophy is based on individualistic hedonism, which often may seem more practical and acceptable. Although, Mill s utilitarianism is indeed a form of social hedonism rather than individual pleasure seeking, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, unlike Jeremy Bentham, the father of utilitarianism, Mill was able to clarify misinterpretations and controversies by additionally incorporating his own social, political and moral theories that seemed fit with the philosophy. Epicureanism belongs in the same hedonistic category as Mill s utilitarianism, but unlike utilitarianism, Epicurean principles are not commonly used in American government and politics. From afar, Epicureanism may seem the most practical and relatable because one may look and assume that it is simply about indulging in pleasures as long as it makes you happy. However, that is a naive interpretation, as Epicureanism promotes pleasure, but only the natural and necessary ones. Along with only following the natural and necessary pleasures, it also highlights the importance of suppressing desires that cause one to long for pleasures that aren t necessary. In Epicurus Principal Doctrines, he writes, on a basis of power sufficient to afford supports and of material prosperity arises in most genuine form the security of a private life withdrawn from the multitude (2), meaning that wealth should not be a good that contributes to happiness. This may be relatable and useful for certain individuals who devalue material goods, however, this would not be plausible for the American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The European Community s Involvement in the Energy Sector The European Union s total expenditures on research and development have grown rapidly since the mid 1980s. For example, in the period between the EU s First Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (spanning the period 1984 1987) and the Fourth Framework Programme (1994 1998), R D investments under the Framework Programme grew in real terms by more than 120%. The budget for the Fifth Framework Programme (1998 2002) is projected to be approximately $15 billion. R D investments in the health, biotechnology, information technology, and transportation areas have grown most markedly in recent years. Energy R D constitutes a major, yet declining, share of the total R D expenditures of the European Union (EU). Adoption in 1996 of a Directive for the Internal Market for Electricity: The Directive marks the first major legislative step toward the creation of an open and competitive European electricity market. Under this law, all Member States were required to open at least 25.37% of their electricity markets to competition as of February 1999. Under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, the European Union committed itself to an 8% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2008 2012. Greenhouse gas emissions reduction and climate change mitigation now occupy a central position in EU Energy policy. • 5. Modern Societies And Its Impact On Society Modern societies are described most effectively against the background of what came before them. The process of modernity is reactive; it s meaning is derived by a comparison with, and by rejection or negation of preceding agrarian and industrial societies. Traditional, or pre modern societies take as their basic unit the community or the collective. The family constitutes production and consumption as well as socialization, indicative of a rudimentary division of labour. Further, traditional societies facilitate a worldview that is wholly comprehensive. Durkheim describes this as the collective consciousness . People derive their outlook largely through the different ways that they interact with society, and because these societies have high degrees of similarity, and a shared set of moral values and beliefs, members experience the world in similar ways. In this contrasting view, modernization can be viewed as a process of individualization, specialization and abstraction. In the structure of modern society, the individual dominates the collective. The division of labour is complex. People become alienated from the process of production as specialization increases and their occupations become more specific, consequently disconnecting them from the products of their labour. Moreover, modern societies facilitate a worldview that is abstract. While traditional societies are based on similarity, modern societies are based on differences, thus differentiating the way ... • 8. Research Paper On Dodo Bird The Mysterious Dodo Picture yourself running through the woods as quickly as your legs can move you, with a heap of emotions running through your brain. You feel betrayed, offended, helpless, terrified. You had never been an aggressive animal. You were friendly, you didn t eat animals, and it s not like you had the abilities to overpower anything if you did eat them. This may aid your imagination of what the dodo bird went through while being hunted down by the Portuguese. The dodo bird may seem like a tedious animal; However, the bird, it s misconception, and how it became extinct are intriguing in a way that you may find odd. The dodo bird is not an extremely famous bird, like the beautiful parrot, or the perfectly pink flamingo. Many people aren t educated on what the bird was genuinely like, or even what the bird is. The dodo is a flightless bird from an island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. It is part of the Raphidae family(Dodo 1), which consists of pigeons and doves. The dodo clings to the forest in Mauritius and has been extinct since the 17th century(Extinct Bird 1), eating only nuts, fruits, or seeds it found on the ground(Viral Stats). The dodo bird has a comical appearance, that one could only imagine. It s unique visuals were small useless wings, thick yellow legs, and a tuft of feathers high on its rear end (Dodo 2). These odd characteristics made it easy for people to deride the dodo bird. In terms of size, the dodo was larger than a turkey, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rash is the disclosing indication of chicken pox (Mayo Clinic 2015). While signs and symptoms of chicken pox will usually appear one to two days prior to the rash, the rash itself will last from five to ten days. The symptoms that appear before the rash are headache, fever, general malaise, cough and loss of appetite. Varicella is endemic worldwide. In areas where the climate is temperate chicken pox lends itself to be a childhood disease, with the highest incidence affecting preschool and young school age children. The incidence of chicken pox is highest in the late winter and early spring. In climates that tend to be more tropical, the incidence appears in the coolest, driest seasons and transmitted later in childhood or early adulthood (Marin amp; Bialek 2015). In households where there are multiple family members, the contagiousness is approximately 85%, but less in community exposure (Marin amp; Bialek 2015). Since the utilization and application of childhood vaccinations for Varicella in the United States, a consequential decline has presented itself. The risk of Chicken pox has remained higher in other parts of the world. Other countries that have begun routinely immunizing their children and have seen a decrease in incidents are Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Greece, Korea, Latvia, Luxembourg, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Uruguay and some areas of Spain and Italy. One noticeable trait that stands out with this map compared to others in the 16th and early 17th centuries is the exquisite detail of topographical features. According to an exhibition of the map, this is from the collection of George Legge, first Baron Dartmouth; previously in the English Royal map collection (Yale Center, From the Collection). One might wonder why a map, with the extensive detail that this has, would be in the hands of the Royal Collection and thus commissioned by Queen Elizabeth. According to R. A. Skelton: it is not difficult to see how, in the course of business, some maps might have come into the hands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the map, one can see a tool indicating the scale of the map. This same looking tool can be found in the book Compass and Rule in an exhibition called Bartholomew Newsam, set of drawing instruments, c. 1570. This is the only known surviving Elizabethton drawing set in modern day (Gerbino 61). This tool could have been used to scale the map, which can be seen in the one square mile gridlines. In addition, by connecting these tools to those used likely by military engineers, one can assume that the gridlines had a purpose besides denoting the scale of the map. If only the scale was important, the British could have simply put a key on the map showing 1 inch = 1 square mile, for example. Since they drew the entire grid, it could be interpreted as being done to perhaps reproduce the map for military purposes. It may have been easier to redraw the map to accurate scale by producing these gridlines. Thus, one could predict that this map may have been reproduced in a smaller form for military personnel to effectively defend this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The European Union ( Brexit ) And The Refugee Crisis Two consistent trends have been reported within reputable sources regarding the topic of the European Union are the upcoming E.U. referendum taking place in Britain (Brexit) and the refugee crisis. The European Union is faced with its impending decline, which has accelerated in recent weeks with concerns about the British referendum becoming an immediate issue on the continent. A possible Brexit could possibly lead to the fifth largest economy in the world and the second largest economy in the Eurozone from leaving the European Union (E.U). The Brexit is the most contested issue both within the United Kingdom (U.K) and the European continent. In the wake of a rampant security and refugee crises in Europe, Europe s need to have an economically strong member of the E.U is needed to combat the difficulties the continent is facing, particularly the Mediterranean members of the E.U who are most heavily affected by the influx of people escaping Syria and Turkey, taking refuge in recovering countries such as Greece, in hope of further immigrating to their country of choice, namely Germany and Austria. With tensions in the Middle East escalating, the refugee crisis in Europe is worsening, the increasing number of people is led the E.U to consider isolating Greece from the rest of the Schengen area (passport free travel area in Europe) by closing off its borders (Corder, 2016). • 14. The Change Of Wor Vs. Dimensionless Time As Yortsos et al. (1999) have shown in their work, the change of WOR vs. dimensionless time is governed by the time regime. He distinguished four such time regimes: Early time, before water breaks through the layers of a reservoir (Fig. 1, b) in which WOR remains almost constant; The stage immediately following water breakthrough, when water saturation near the producer is low (Fig. 1, c). This regime can be analysed using the 1D displacement equation for intermediate values of water saturation (Eq. 8) which suggests that at intermediate values of water saturation at the producer,S_w^*≤0.5, the WOR time relationship is described with a linear function of logW vs. logt with slope 1. To the medieval knights, victory renown and glory are the ambitions they strive for. Breaking a law in this code would be considered a disgrace, and would bring a dishonor that was worse than death itself. However, by applying the Code of Chivalry, the knights in the medieval time displayed certain character traits which would secure success and honor in both battle and morality. Besides glory, bravery is used throughout the novel also. An example of this is when Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert dies for Rebecca. Ivanhoe demonstrates bravery when he fights Brian to repay Rebecca for her care when he is hurt. He is also very brave when he fights for his Saxon image. Even though he is not a major character in this book, Robin Hood also shows bravery. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor which breaks certain parts in the Code of Chivalry. In fact, this was an island city, located in the middle of a volcanic basin, and the nearest geological limestone outcrops were located far away. According to the historical sources written during the 16th century, the Aztecs imported by way of tribute and commerce lime and limestone from different regions. For instance, the tributary lists known as the Matrícula de Tributos (1991, 22) and the Codex Mendoza (1992, 28r, 42r) record that lime loads were brought periodically from Tepeacac (a province located in the modern state of Puebla) and from Atotonilco ... In the poem, For That He Looked Not upon Her, by George Gascoigne, the speaker longs for a woman who is dangerously tempting, yet trustless. This situation of forbidden desire develops an attitude of sorrow, regret, and longing of the man. The English sonnet s quatrains, harsh and grievous diction, and strong visual and tactile imagery assist in developing his conflicting emotions which cause his complex attitude. For That He Looked Not upon Her is an English sonnet written in the sixteenth century. Like all English sonnets, this is written in iambic pentameter, which creates an ironically conversational and light tone for a topic that is focused on restricted lust, broken heartedness, and pain. The first quatrain of Gascoigne s sonnet introduces the image of the speaker keeping his head low, ashamed, refusing to glimpse the face of the woman he is speaking to. To help her understand his actions, the second quatrain compares the speaker s situation to that of a mouse going after trustless bait (6). By the 1920s, the U.S. had much better roads connecting cities, which Americans were eager to explore. When crude oil was discovered in Texas, gas became cheap and was easily available to rural Americans, while few had electricity. By 1935, electric vehicles had all but disappeared (Energy.gov, 2014). Commercially available EVs hit the market again in 2011 (Larson, P., Viáfara, J., Parsons, R., Elias, A., 2014). Environmental concerns about air quality, growing concerns about global warming, and finite fossil fuel supplies prompted a new emphasis on the production of more fuel efficient vehicles (Nayum, Klöckner., Mehmetoglu, 2016). These concerns led to the development of improvements in automobile materials, system technologies, and the design of improved rechargeable battery systems that are smaller, lighter weight, and have a longer lasting charge. Advances such as these have rapidly accelerated the design of better, more reliable EVs (Coffman, Bernstein, Wee, 2016). A tributary of the Waitoa River flows through the middle of the site. The majority of the site has wet soils, and in winter some areas can be prone to flooding, particularly nearer to the stream. Regardless the ground tends to be boggy, particularly in winter. Consequently, this was historically conifer forest or swaps (Waikato Regional Council, n.d. b). Currently, willow, grass and blackberry dominate the majority of the site, with some existing flax plants in the wetter areas. It was what caused my hands to shake during a calculus test. It was what caused me to cry when I received my rejection notice from Texas A M University the first time I applied. In a way it has been a defining feature of my academic career, always a shadow in the back of my mind murmuring the deadly phrase but can you really do it? . That small voice has been largely responsible for my reluctance to push myself academically, to actually see what I am capable of. Last semester, my first at Texas A M, I mustered up enough courage to block out that voice and attempt something I had never done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Improving the Records Management Improving the Records Management Implementation of Electronic Records Management Records management can be improved in many ways. In my opinion, one of the ways is to implement the electronic records management. The government should consider formulating policies, standards and practices, technical specifications and training plans to enable its agencies including Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan to manage records in electronic form. According to Arkib Negara Malaysia, The management of electronic records is not a problem that needs to be solved. Its effective implementation in support of program/ service delivery, decision making, etc., should be viewed from the perspective of the extent to which it can lead to cost savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction and opportunity gain. This means that electronic records could give a lot of benefits to the government agencies. As stated by Arkib Negara Malaysia, electronic records management could help the government agencies to reduce its costs. The traditional records management practiced by Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan for example requires the government to actually spend more money. This is because, if we re looking this issue from a strategic view then it is undeniable that the implementation of electronic records management could save costs. The existing system practiced by the government requires them to maintain all the equipments and also hire personnel to supervise the files room. Furthermore, it contributes to the increased usage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Immigration Policies And Naturalization Laws During World... During the years between 1882 and 2000, immigration and naturalization were always important issues for the United States. The United States stance on its policies and laws towards immigrants and their naturalization saw drastic changes during this time period, which reasons ranges from American s experience with the immigrants and the nation s changing relationship with other countries. During the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the United States took a restrictive approach on its immigration policies and naturalization law, mainly because of American s fear of job competition with the immigrants, and also because of their racism. However, the change in relationships between United States and other nations during World War II marked the turning point of the nation s approach on those policies and laws, where the United States slowly began to reopen its door of immigration. And in the late 20th century, the United States continued its approach on open immigration policies and naturalization laws that began during World War II due to the same reason, but at the same time the nation also passed restrictive policies towards undocumented immigrants. During the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the United States policies towards immigration and naturalization became more and more restrictive due to American s fear of competition with immigrants for jobs and their buildup of racism towards those immigrants. • 33. Power In George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty-Four Power can be achieved through many different means in order to be successful. Living under the control of a manipulating party is not the ideal way to live. Control that is obtained and not earned will never lead to conditions worth living under. If a party obtains the influence over all states of being, then their power will be quite difficult to destroy for good. People under this supervision can never fully understand what needs to be done to stop the abuse for power for the reason that they have not lived independent lives. This sense of powerful influence is what the Party has over the citizens of Oceania. The Party is able to keep the society in check to its own beliefs through manipulation and the deception of its own citizens. Winston, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Winston is caught with Julia, he knew he would be dealt mental and physical torment, but never thought it would work. He had the belief that he would be able to fight the influence and ultimately win the war against the Party. This is not at all how things turned out. The Party was able to get into Winston s head to the extent that, he did see them... He saw five fingers, and there was no deformity... But there had been a moment...when two and two could have been three as easily as five. (267). This was only the beginning of Winston s conformity, meaning everything went downhill from that point. The party won in taking all pleasures away from Winston. Everything that connected Winston and Julia was completely terminated by the Party. Winston thought he could keep his relationship forever, yet all relationships are eventually destroyed by the Party s influence. Life could not be more hopeless for Winston after all that time locked up. Becoming more and more dependent on the Party s materials. Winston knew by the end that, The [gin] grew not less but more horrible with every mouthful he drank. But it had become the element he swam in. It was his life, his death, and his resurrection. (304). The gin provided by the Party is the only way Winston could keeping going. He could not sleep or wake up, that is to say he could not exist on his own without the gin every day. Yet, the ... • 34. Persuasive Essay On Death Penalty Death Penalty Since the year 1976, around 1,462 people in the United States have been executed by lethal injection. Practiced in 31 states and abolished in 19 the death penalty has remained a center stone of debate since its launch in 1976. With so many differing viewpoints, arguments pertaining to the moral issue, legal considerations and possible alternatives have been left unsettled since. The ongoing tug of war within these topics slowly tries to chip away at the big question. Should the death penalty be allowed? Morality and human psychology show up as clear underlining factors when it comes to crossing the line between life and death. Many believe an eye for an eye form of punishment is justifiable while others strongly disagree on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In their eyes, the death of murders relieves the burning vengeance and pain victims loved ones go through. Opponents argue against the thought of revenge and any connection it has towards justice or fulfilling the grief of death. They argue that vengeance only makes things worse and extends the chain of violence, claiming it has no place in our justice system. Along with moral issues, social unfairness such as poverty and race have always been woven into concern among the two sides. One argument touches on the economic state of the convicted and how it affects his/her chances of being executed. People of poverty don t have the money to hire a good legal representative leaving them with a weak defense against their crime. I don t know of any affluent people who have been sentenced to death, said Walter Berns, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. People of poverty who are given a representative by the state find that often that their defendant is ill experienced and underpaid. Court appointed death penalty lawyers are paid barely enough to cover costs, are usually inexperienced, and often don t put up much of a fight, said Stephen Bright, director of the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta. This imbalance in equity on an economic level also rings true on an ethnic level through racial bias. In 82% of the studies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
