Evaluating Scientific Paradigms And Predict The...
Evaluating Scientific Paradigms to Predict the Credibility of Medieval Science
Abstract
Science is the fundamental backbone to understanding how the world works. From the start of historic
civilizations to modern era, science has evolved drastically and continues to change based off of pre
existing notions formulated by pre existing notions to those. This cycle of taking ideas that have been
previously established and creating new and falsifiable hypotheses revolve around scientific
paradigms. These scientific paradigms provide accepted models that give scientists a starting point,
per se, for further research and progression beyond that point. Scientists understand that everything
they know now can later be proven false or altered to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the scientific method helps prove previous ideas to be true by creating falsifiable hypotheses,
and not being able to prove them false. Thusly, allowing scientists to accept the Null Hypothesis ,
which states that there is no correlation between your results and hypothesis. Furthermore, referring to
the Null Hypothesis attempts to give experimental data meaning. If experimental results cannot prove
something false, and correlates with the subject at hand, you would reject the Null Hypothesis .
Methods
We can test the fallacy of folk magic by executing the following experiment. We hypothesized that,
because there are five total cards, each representing one different symbol, the participant will correctly
guess five of the twenty five cards, about twenty percent by chance. Below this number says the
student has no psychic ability, above says otherwise . To test this hypothesis, we collected data from
twenty five different students and correlated the data to folk magic s consistency. We had students
draw twenty five cards, one card at a time, and gave them the chance to correctly name each drawn
card. Not only did we test the credibility of folk magic, but we conducted a similar experiment with
respect to Astrology s fallacy. We obtained data from a wide variety of students with different
backgrounds and cultures, but analyzed one individuals results. The student obtained 8 journal entries
that described a person s

Family And Family Essay
To a lot of people, having the same blood running through your veins, means a lot. To some it means
that it automatically claims you to be family. Others may think being blood related means you re more
important to them then someone who may not be. But to me, blood has nothing to do with who you
care about and who you consider family. It doesn t shape you as a person and doesn t define who you
are going to be. I am adopted, therefore, most of my family and I do not share the same DNA. But I
have learned that it doesn t matter if you have the same color hair as your mother, or the same eyes as
your father. What matters is the love and the care that people share for you, that s what makes you
family. Just because someone may share the same physical characteristics as you, doesn t mean you
will have the same emotional characteristics. For me, this is something I have had to learn a lot over
time. My biological mother and father weren t the best role models. I was taken away from them at the
age of five and put into foster care. As I was growing up I had this growing fear that I would be
exactly like them. I have younger siblings, and for a lot of my life I ve had to look over them and be
their support system. I was constantly worried I was not enough for them, I would worry that I would
let them down. I knew what it felt like to feel like you are alone and to be let down over and over
again by the people that you thought cared the most. And I never wanted my brothers or

Advantages Of Multiparticulate Drug Delivery System
1.1 Multiparticulate drug delivery systems (MDDS):
Multiparticulate drug delivery systems (MDDS), widely used for oral route of administration, it
consist of multiple number of small discrete units that having different characteristics. It is based on
subunits such as pellets, microspheres, granules, beads, spheroids and minitab. These subunits shows
various advantages as compare to monolithic devices. In MDDS, active pharmaceutical ingredients
are divided into number of subunits, typically consist of thousands of spherical particles having
diameter of about 0.05 mm to 2.00 mm. To administer or to recommend total dose these subunits to be
compressed into a tablets or filled into a sachets or encapsulated 1. The formulation consisting of
multicomponent MDDS is also feasible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug is mostly released from multiparticulates by following mechanism
1. Erosion Coating with the erodiable polymers to erode gradually with time thereby releasing the
drug contained within particle. The drug release mostly depends on the characteristics of polymer
which shows the erosion and responsible for drug release. It shows zero or first order kinetics.
2. Osmosis Osmotic pressure can built up within the interior of particle to allow water to enter. The
drug is forced out of particle into exterior through coating. The osmotic pressure is responsible for
drug release in which drug passes from higher concentration to lower concentration through semi
permeable membrane.
3. Diffusion On contact with aqueous fluids in Gastro intestinal tract, water diffuses the interior of the
particle. The drug dissolution occurs and drug solution diffuses across the external release coat. The
diffusion principal shows release which depends on concentration and drug. It shows the zero order
kinetics.

Antarctica Is The Third Largest Continent On The World Map
Antarctica is the fifth largest Continent on the world map which covers close to 14.2 million square
kilometres of land space that includes the ice sheets which unfolds onto the sea (Martin, 2013).
Antarctica once used to be part of Gondwana supercontinent until it fragmented itself 70 million years
ago and moved to the South Pole making it isolated from other land areas (Martin, 2013). Antarctica
was once ice free, had temperatures well above freezing point and was also filled with greeneries forty
million years ago during the early Oligocene period (Florindo Siegert, 2008). In the latter half of the
Oligocene towards the Miocene period, temperature in Antarctica started to descend. Factors such as
the height of Antarctica, which is 2800 metres above sea level, the Atmosphere in the Southern
Hemisphere being much thinner with minimal cloud cover that leads to high albedo and the ocean
currant movement around Antarctica has made Antarctica as cold as minus sixty Degrees Celsius for
humans to inhibit living here (Harwood et al., 2006). Scientists have been able to track back on the
climate conditions in Antarctica over the past thirteen million years with the aid of collecting rocks,
soil, animal and plant fossils buried deep down into the ground beyond the thick ice formation that
covers the Antarctic region currently. Scientists concluded that in order to get the geological evidence,
land had to be excavated vertically down towards the earth core (Naish, Powell, Levy,

The Bataan Death March By Glenn Frazier
Glenn Frazier, a survivor of the Bataan Death March states, If we had known what was ahead of us at
the beginning of the Bataan Death March, I would ve taken death. The Bataan Death March was
extremely brutal, which left many survivors thinking if they should have died at the beginning of the
march. During the Bataan Death March, the Americans and Filipinos were forced to walk 65 miles in
five to twelve days without food or water while enduring regular beatings ( Bataan Death March, 1942
) . During the march, the Japanese would treat the prisoners of war (POWs) in a brutal manner leaving
only 987 survivors out of 76,000 prisoners ( New Mexico National Guard s involvement in the Bataan
Death March ). The Americans were horrified by the Japanese ... Show more content on

Bushido means way of the warrior . The Code of Bushido was followed by the ancient Japanese,
which respected the ways of warrior. It was a code that taught the Japanese dedication and respect for
their Emperor and their family. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict sense of honor and
self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for the Earth and other
people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had used the Code of Bushido
to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to motivate the people to murder and
die for the code. According to the Japanese, if you surrendered, you would disappoint your family and
country. In World War II when the Japanese were held prisoner in Cowra prison in Australia, many of
them changed their names so that their parents assumed they were dead rather than disappointing
them. The Code of Bushido made the Japanese treat the Americans and Filipinos in a savage and
brutal manner. Moreover, the Japanese s treatment of prisoners affected how Americans saw them.
The Americans believed the Japanese were brutal human beings. The Americans saw them as that
because during the Bataan Death March, if you stopped marching, the Japanese would kill you with a
bayonet or rifle. Then, if you tried to help someone who fell, you would get beaten or stabbed. Also
for a sport, Japanese soldiers would fracture sculls with rifle butts. Mostly, the prisoners would receive

Essay On Job Opportunities
Employment Opportunities The UCSD Career Center provides many opportunities to develop the
future careers of students, and one of those opportunities is student employment. The Port Triton
Portal is an online collection of all work opportunities for students, including jobs, internships, and
volunteering, including work study, where students can apply for jobs and employers can post job
listings. Although the Port Triton Portal is only accessible by students and potential employers, I
would guess that the jobs that are being offered include both on and off campus jobs, as well as full
time and part time jobs. Since students are still studying while working the jobs, I presume that most

Apparently, the biology and natural science programs at UCSD is extremely popular, to the point
where they had to begin to regulate the amount of students that declared those majors, and the Scripps
Institution of Oceanography is something that I would like to attend, given the impacts of global
warming on sea life and the amount of resources that the school has.
Extracurricular Activities UCSD s intercollegiate athletics competes in NCAA Division II in the
California Collegiate Athletic Association conference, and they are the UC San Diego Tritons. For
their intercollegiate sports, they offer many men s and women s sports, from basketball to fencing to
water polo, and offer the same sports for both men and women for the most part, although men have
golf and baseball, while women have softball. In addition to intercollegiate athletics, UCSD offers
both intramural sports and club sports. Intramural sports are recreational sports that are open to
anyone, and allow athletes to compete in a friendly atmosphere. It costs $7 a quarter to play intramural
sports, but that $7 allows a student to participate in as many intramurals as they desire. The school
offers many different intramural sports, for men, women, and coed, allowing students to have fun and
socialize while playing a sport that they enjoy. Club sports is another form of intercollegiate athletics,
but it isn t on the same competitive scale as NCAA athletics, and allows

The Fault In Our Stars Character Analysis
The Fault in Our Stars depicts Hazel Grace Lancaster, a 16 year old girl diagnosed with terminal
thyroid cancer. The book chronicles her relationship with Augustus Waters, who has also been
diagnosed with cancer. Throughout the novel, Hazel constantly struggles with her identity in relation
to her disease. She is conflicted whether to accept the prescribed image society has of her or to
embrace her true inner self. Through a period of self realization, she eventually comes to terms with
and redefines her identity. Although society may define an individual s self image, The Fault in Our
Stars demonstrates that identity is defined by the inner self, rather than external forces; in turn, that
self perception deeply impacts one s perspective on life.
Despite the adversity they face, the characters in The Fault in Our Stars identity lies within their inner
selves, and is not defined by societal expectations. Hazel expresses her frustration with the lesser
standard that is expected of cancer patients, saying According to Maslow, I was...unable to feel secure
in my health and therefore unable to reach for love and respect and art...which is utter horseshit: The
urge to make art or contemplate philosophy does not go away when you are sick (Green 213).
According to society, cancer patients, and those who are not secure in their health are restricted from
experiencing life at its fullest. The outside world sees Hazel in singular terms, as a cancer kid , unable
to reach for greatness;

Windows Server Business Plan
I propose that our company consider implementing Linux for our servers and workstations. There are
many excellent reasons to employ Linux as the operating system of choice for our company: Linux is
tried and true ; is used by many large companies, such as Google , Amazon , Facebook , and many of
the cloud service providers; is less expensive; more reliable and stable; has extensive free community
support; uses memory and CPU resources more efficiently; is reasonably easy and quick to install; and
is much less vulnerable to viruses and malware than the Microsoft Windows operating system. Linux
can be used on almost any type or brand of computer or server, including older models. I will
demonstrate that Linux is a viable and less expensive alternative to Windows and will perform well in
our server and workstation environments.
Server Environment
Hardware Considerations
Existing hardware. Our existing hardware can be used for the new Linux OS. This will require
reformatting existing hard drives and installing the Linux OS, which is much easier than reformatting
and installing Windows OS. Our older servers will still be viable for some time to come because
Linux uses less disk space and memory. It also uses less resources, so it won t slow down the devices
or the network like other Enterprise OS can.
Vendor specific hardware. If we wish to purchase vendor specific hardware for one of the new Linux
distributions, there are several options: System76; Dell; HP; IBM;

Renaissance Music Critical Analysis
Critical Analysis Assignment The use of vibrato in music stemming from the Late Renaissance music
is highly debated. Christopher Jackson s article entitled An Examination of Vibrato discusses the
issues revolving around the use of vibrato in music from the Late Renaissance time period. The author
s goals isn t to arrive at a side of the matter. However, he clearly states that he wishes to shed some
new light on the views of these two opposing schools... I believe this article is meant for both
musicologists and choral directors alike. The music of this time period is still being performed to this
day and each performance varies due to different interpretations of a particular piece. This article can
serve as a great tool for advising choral directors on specific decisions they must make within a piece
regarding the use of vibrato. The article can also be directed to musicologist who have had debates
about this vocal technique. Without any clear resolution, it leaves the question open ended, however, it
does give insight on the two sides which helps inform musicologists who favor a particular idea about
the other argument.
I do not know much about performing or interpretations of Late Renaissance music. Normally, when I
do pieces from this time period that have the issue of whether or not to perform with vibrato or
straight tone, my vocal instructor tells me to always go for vibrato. That being said, I guess I always
assumed people sing with vibrato when it came to this

The Scopes Trial Induced A Pivotal Point
The Scopes Trial induced a pivotal point in American history because it symbolizes the conflict
between science and theology, faith and reason, individual liberty, and majority rule. This trial was to
decide not only the fate of an evolution teacher, but also to decide if traditionalists or modernists
would rule American culture. An object of intense publicity, the trial was seen as a clash between
urban sophistication and rural fundamentalism.
On January 20, 1925, a Tennessee state senator named John A. Shelton proposed a bill to make the
teaching of evolution in the state s public schools a felony, or a criminal act. Fundamentalists had been
supporting and pushing the passage of laws such as this for years, because the teaching of evolution
and Darwinism contradicts the religious beliefs of creation in Christianity. Popular evangelist, Billy
Sunday, undertook an eighteen day crusade in Memphis in support of the prospective bill. Night after
night, Sunday s audiences grew until more than two hundred thousand people heard him preach
against the evils of evolution. The bill, known as the Butler Act, was officially passed on March 21,
1925, just 3 months after its proposal. Just as state legislators suspected, the ink had hardly dried on
the Butler Act before its first challenger emerged.
George Rappleyea, a modernist methodist who was against the new regulation, urged people to rebel
against the law in order to generate publicity for the city of Dayton. John Thomas

Home Stageing Essay
When it comes to selling your house, first appearances count for everything. If you want your house to
sell, it s up to you to do everything you can to show off your home s best assets.
This is according to Carel Ferriera from Electricians Johannesburg, who says that s where home
staging comes in. He says you could hire professional home stagers, but they are often costly.
Ferriera shares how you can do a little home staging of your own.
1. Clear the clutter
A good first step in home staging is some clutter busting, as clutter is unattractive and makes your
home look smaller.
Gather all the items you don t need and sell them, trash them or give them away whatever it takes to
make your home look clear and uncluttered. Don t stop at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Clean top to toe
A dirty, smelly or unkempt home won t attract buyers. Before you show your house to a single buyer,
make sure you have cleaned and scrubbed every room.
Every surface should be clean and dust free, your bathroom and kitchen should be gleaming, and your
floors should be spotless.
Don t forget to get rid of litter boxes too, as they can make a house smell bad.
6. Don t forget the outside
The exterior of your home is the first thing a buyer will see, so it should make a good impression.
Your garden should be neat and pretty, and free of any rubbish.
It s worth using a pressure washer or even hiring a tradesman to give the outside of your home a
thorough clean, and while you re at it, now would be a good time to fix that leaky gutter.
Finally, give your front door a fresh lick of paint and make sure your house number is clearly visible.
7. Add some accessories
A few accessories can add just the right amount of warmth and personality to your home without
overwhelming it. For example, try a small group of pot plants, some attractive wall art, or one or two
eye catching pieces such as a beautiful vase or a bowl of fresh fruit. The right accessories will help
your home look like an inviting place to live.
8. Get Baking
There s something about the smell of freshly baked bread or cookies that just makes someone feel at
home, so think about doing some baking on viewing day.
If you don t have time to bake, boil

Based on the above mentioned structural and morphological results, the sample SP0.10 has high
degree of crystallinity with narrower particles size distribution, Therefor this value was selected as

As mention above citric acid act to neutralize the solution through reaction (2) as a result, the pH of
the reaction solution decreases with increasing concentration of citric acid. If the concentration of
citric acid citrate exceeds 1:2, the solution pH is lower than 8 and citrate anions also inhibit the
nucleation and growth of CuO crystals. It was concluded that the gel specifications were changed by
varying the amount of citric acid and as an optimum value, 1:2 ratio of EG:CA was used to synthesize
homogeneous CuO nanoflower (figure 4 b). The selected area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns of
SP0.10, SP0.10A and SP0.10B, confirming the monoclinic structure of as prepared materials. It
evidence of crystalline CuO is found in the SAED patterns, consistent with XRD results (see figure 5).
Distinct diffraction bright spots are clearly visible in the SAED pattern of SP0.10B due to a lesser
diffraction area.
The complete structural and microstructural parameters further confirmed by the Rietveld refinement
analysis. The characteristic XRD plots of sample SP0.10, SP0.10A and SP0.10B along with the crystal
structure was extracted by Rietveld analysis and is represented in figure 5(a c). It reveals that
diffraction peaks are assigned to CuO as reported in JCPDS file No. 48 1548, indicates that the

The Arid climate has irregular seasons. Say for instance, the Sahara Desert is mainly always hot and

Persuasive Essay On Prayer Should Be Allowed In Public...
Prayer being allowed in public schools has been a controversial issue in our country. Prayer is defined
as a request for help or expression to God or thank of thanks toward an object or worship. Everyone
has their own opinions on this issue. The U.S Supreme court misinterpreted the freedom of religion.
Prayer in school would allow children to express their beliefs. I believe nothing is wrong with setting
some time for pray in school. If God is allowed anywhere why can t prayer be? Pray needs to be
allowed in school so freedom of expression can be show positively.
Around 1962 prayer was prohibited in school. The decision was made in the Engel V. Vitale case the
New York Board of Regents believed it violated the first amendment because it showed establishment
of religion. In schools bible reading became not allowed and anything related to religion was removed
from teaching curriculums. Prayers must be left on the outside of school. The first amendment was
passed on September 25, 1989 by Congress states. According to the first amendment freedom

The Impact Of Social Media On The Workplace
Building Relationships This experience is the first time I have been introduced to professional
relationships. I took the time to set up a LinkedIn account. It always brings a smile to my face when a
subcontractor requests to connect with me. I believe that social media outlets such as LinkedIn give
professionals an opportunity to keep up with each other s successes. The lowest level relationship I
have built is with the field workers from our concrete subcontractors. I have enjoyed getting to know
them and hearing how they got to Texas. One of the workers was born and raised in California. He
recently heard about how strong the economy was in Houston, so he packed everything up and moved
here. Another worker was born in Mexico and just recently became an American citizen. He is
enrolled night classes to strengthen his speaking skills. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the
men who work in the field. The highest level relationship I have built is with the chief executive
officer of Linbeck. I believe it says a lot about a company when even the highest levels of leadership
are able to recognize your face and call you by name. I am proud to be a part of a company who
values the idea of being a family. I believe the most important relationship I have established outside
of Linbeck is with project managers from the various trades. These men and women have taught me so

Hester Prynne Symbolism
In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses Hester Prynne to provide an audience with ethical
lessons. Caught for committing adultery, the protagonist of the novel transforms her life through
dealing with her punishment. Using symbolism and evident themes, the author clarifies the meaning
of his work, which is to teach a moral lesson, making him a contemporary author.
In the beginning of The Scarlet Letter, Hester s society treats her like a convict for committing
adultery, as it is considered a sin. Due to this, people alienate Hester, which significantly magnifies her
shame and loneliness. By doing charitable works around the community, Hester attempts to atone and
repent for her sin of committing adultery. However, the people who benefit the most from Hester s
humanitarian works respond with ungratefulness and bitterness. During this ordeal, Hester
progressively becomes wiser by interacting with other people. For example, Hawthorne states, She

appeared the letter A, (37) which shows that the scarlet letter she is forced to wear is a symbol of her
wrong doing. It also proves that Hester does not only accept her punishment, but is able to transform it
from an reminder of past mistakes, to a token of self growth and newly acquired wisdom. This symbol
strengthens Hathorne s meaning because it is the object that is used numerous times to remind the
audience of Hester s crime and punishment, which is essential in analyzing the effect it has on the

802.1X endpoints. This and other factors make initial configuration and ongoing management of
802.1X in wired LANs very resource intensive and therefore expensive.
Wired LANs also tend to support a greater variety of legacy endpoints, many of which do not support
802.1X supplicant software. The number of non 802.1X endpoints in wired LANs often exceeds
802.1X capable ones. As mentioned above, it is challenging to configure different switches

types of endpoints in their networks for which 802.1X supplicant software is not available. In many
environments, non 802.1X endpoints can far outnumber 802.1X capable ones.
As a result, a significant challenge for implementing 802.1X in many networks involves what to do
about all the non 802.1X endpoints and how to handle network connectivity for those devices. There
are options and workarounds, but each one involves compromise in terms of network security and/or

One option (though seldom feasible) is to simply deny network access to all non 802.1X endpoints.

Tea Drinking In The 1800s
Tea was declared the National Drink of England in 1784. The eighteenth century saw the
transformation of tea as an everyday necessity for the poor and working class of the British society. To
meet the domestic demand at home, the British East India Company imported great volumes of tea
from China. The tea import increased from an estimated 64 tons in 1711 to 6800 tons in 1791. Even
heavy import tax could not deter an increasingly expanding domestic market for the Chinese tea. As
tea drinking had become obsession with the British society, consumption of tea replaced home brewed
beer, gin, milk and traditional infusions of indigenous plants. This great transformation in the
consumption pattern of British society led to the commodification of

Jorge Luis Borrges Essay
In Ficcionnes, a novel written as a collection of short stories, the author, Jorge Luis Borges has a

Dahlmann hated himself in minute detail: he hated his identity, his bodily necessities, his humiliation,
the beard which bristled upon his face.... Dahlmann dissolved in tears of self pity for his fate. He
decided at this moment that if he left he would live his life to the fullest and actually go to the south,
which he did. While Borges was first entering the south he recalled a restaurant with a cat and went
there, he notes as petting the cat that his contact was an illusion and that the two beings, the man and
cat, were as good as separated by a glass this was another indicator at the alternate reality he was
facing in his head. Borges notes in the restaurant scene that the bartender knew Dahlmann and called
him by name and he stated in the text that it wasn t unusual to him. Dahlmann thought he recognized
the shopkeeper. Then he realized that he had been deceived by the man s resemblance to one of the
male nurses in the sanitarium. This would also indicate that although he had never met this man it
would not matter because it was all in his head. This dream element impacted the story

Housing For Veterans Essay
A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States
of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is
an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.
Data indicates that it takes years for the trauma associated with military combat to appear, hence the
name post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After the Vietnam War it took nine to twelve years before
veterans began showing up at homeless shelters in large numbers. It s unfortunate that ANY veteran
who we reposed special trust and confidence in would someday find themselves living on the street at
ANY point in their life.

Tackling a project of this magnitude will require several phases of execution. The phases are as
follows: Non for profit (NFP) entity start up, Financing, Acquisition, Renovation, and Management.
PHASE ONE: NFP START UP
The first step we need to take is to establish a NFP entity with the primary mission of providing stable
housing for up to 24 months to military veterans. The ability to provide this type of housing for
veterans via a NFP entity will enable the organization to be eligible for a number of government
funded grants such as the Veteran Administration s Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program
and the Illinois Energy Grant. (2)
The estimated cost to establish a NFP is $3,300. This price includes but is not limited to assistance
with the development of mission statement, narrative of core programs and services, a three year
operational budget with financials, formation of NFP bylaws, articles of incorporation filing, the
preparation and submission of the 501(c) 3 application and various identification codes. (Note: Start
up figures from the website http://taylormadeindustries.com).
PHASE TWO: FINANCING This project will require a large amount of money for both capital and
operations. From a capital standpoint our end state is to build a facility that provides: 1) supportive
housing for up to 10 homeless Veterans in need of immediate and intensive services; and 2) affordable
housing for up

Hegel Alienation Research Paper
G.W.F. Hegel made enormous contribution to the development of the concept of alienation in
discursive terms. Hegel s The Phenomenolgy of Mind elucidates the concept of alienation and self
alienated spirit which however here have consequences far more significant and opposite to the
generalized concept of alienation . He bases his account of the development of human spirit and
human self development on the premise of the concept of alienation. To Hegel, the self is a historical
and social creation. It develops through a process of alienation and its overcoming, self estrangement
and self recognition, a fall into division and reconciliation (Sayers 2). By the term alienation in this
instance, Hegel refers to self alienation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By his own admission, Fromm has chosen the concept of alienation as the central point to develop the
analysis of the contemporary social character (The Sane Society 107). It is because, he says, this
concept seems to touch upon the deepest level of the modern personality and it is the most appropriate
if one is concerned with the interaction between the contemporary socio economic structure and the
character structure of the average individual (108). Fromm equates the phenomenon of alienation with
the effects of capitalism on personality. By alienation he means a mode of experience in which the
person experiences himself/herself as an alien, ceases to experience himself/herself as the centre of his
world, as the creator of his/her own acts and takes to obeying or even worshipping his/her acts and
their consequences as his/her masters (117). He

Clonal Heterogeneity
Cancer is a systemic disease and advanced cancers can be locally advanced or metastatic. Generally,
the metastatic potential is through to be due to tumor heterogeneities which origin from the differences
generated in the evolution process of cancer itself as well as host microenvironment. The capability of
invasion and metastasis is closely related to cell motility and requires the cytoskeleton that is essential
during mitoses[18]. Since malignancy criteria are mainly related to the phenotype of actively
proliferating cells, metastatic deposits genetically match well differentiated areas of primary and
invasive areas[19]. These factors need attention when planning the evaluation of intratumoral
heterogeneity and detailed specification would be necessary to pinpoint the intratumoral location, to
assess selective process and to analyze pathways[18, 20]. These biological foundations would improve
the therapeutic design and patient s management base on heterogeneity.

However, it should be noted that this approach could only be reliable only where the genetic
compositions of primary and metastatic tumors are similar. In addition, elucidating the key difference
between early and late origin of metastasis initiating cells is pivotal for determining the therapeutic
strategies that target tumor invasion. The question of clonal heterogeneity within metastases remains
unexplored, and, moreover, clonal heterogeneity within primary tumors has limited direct therapeutic
relevance. It should be noted that primary tumors can be successfully removed by surgery in most
cases, but this is most often not the case for metastatic outgrowths. Therefore, elimination of
metastatic clones has to rely on adjuvant therapies, and it is likely that the success of these therapies
will depend on the extent of the heterogeneity of these tumor cell

Factors That Affect The Rate Of The Chemical Reaction
Introduction
A chemical reaction is when two or more (different) substances, react with each other to form new
chemical substances(product). In a chemical reaction, the molecular structure is rearranged. When the
molecular structure is rearranged it can increased or decreased. The signs of a chemical reaction
include a colour change, temperature change, formation into a gas and odour change. The rate of
reaction can be increased by increasing the temperature, concentration and the expansion of the
surface area which is explained by collision theory collision theory. Collision theory is when the
kinetic energy increases the chance that the atoms and molecules collide. Kinetic energy is an energy
which a body possesses by virtue of being in motion. By increasing the temperature the particles start
to move around quicker because they have more energy. This means that it is more likely to collide
with the other substance making it easier than to collide with each other, making the reaction rate
higher. Changing the concentration of the solution the particles become more crowded, therefore there
is a greater chance of the particles colliding, increasing the rate of the reaction. Lastly, by expanding
the surface area the particles are more exposed to the reactant, there s will be more constant so the rate
of reaction increases.

The purpose of this experiment is to investigate three different variables(increase in surface area,

On April 4, 2010, Apple Inc. launched its eagerly anticipated iPad amid great hype. The multimedia
computer tablet was the third major innovation that Apple had released over the last decade. CEO
Steve Jobs had argued that the iPad was another revolutionary product that could emulate the
smashing success of the iPod and the iPhone. Expectations ran high. Even The Economist displayed
the release of the iPad on its magazine cover with Jobs illustrated as a biblical figure, noting that, The
enthusiasm of the Apple faithful may be overdone, but Mr. Jobs s record suggests that when he blesses

three years.5 Apple quickly became the industry leader, selling more than 100,000 Apple IIs by the
end of 1980. In December 1980, Apple launched a successful IPO.
Apple s competitive position changed fundamentally in 1981 when IBM entered the PC market. The
IBM PC, which used Microsoft s DOS operating system (OS) and a microprocessor (also called a
CPU) from Intel, was a relatively open system that other producers could clone. Apple, on the other
hand, practiced horizontal and vertical integration. It relied on its own proprietary designs and refused
to license its hardware to third parties.
IBM PCs not only gained more market share, but they also emerged as the new standard for the
industry. Apple responded by introducing the Macintosh in 1984. The Mac marked a breakthrough in
ease of use, industrial design, and technical elegance. However, the Mac s slow processor speed and
lack of compatible software limited sales. Apple s net income fell 62% between 1981 and 1984,
sending the company into a crisis. Jobs, who was often referred to as the soul of the company, was
forced out in 1985.6 The boardroom coup left John Sculley, the executive whom Jobs had actively
recruited from Pepsi Cola for his marketing skills, alone at the helm.

Essay On 1984 And Fahrenheit 451
Introduction Man over the years has thought of a very simple, yet controversial question, can man
destroy itself? . Thesis In the books, 1984, by George Orwell, and Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury,
each show that man has a number of potential ways to destroy itself, like technology, war, and the
usage of words. Technology Technology and technological advancements were very prevalent in the
book Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, and many technological advancements are happening today,
including the idea and advancements of artificial intelligences, AI. In the book Fahrenheit 451, there

at a point of social destruction. In the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many things today are already controlled by some sort of power source which can be hacked like
pacemakers or a power grid, but as AI advances it could control things like your car or an airplane,
which no matter what could potentially be hacked and would be used as weapons of mass destruction
if they were to be. When AI advances it has no emotion, so if we make one to do something that can
cause devastating damage to an area, it would have no second thoughts about doing it, and unless
stopped by an outside force, it would continue with its mission, programmers could also start an AI on
a beneficial task, but eventually find a way to make it destructive for its on personal goal. These AIs
that humanity could create could become super intelligent and potentially dangerous thing for
humanity because they could unalign themselves from our goals and make their own which could
include destroying the human race because we would be inferior to it. War The books 1984 and
Fahrenheit 451, both societies are often exposed to the idea of war and how they should support it, and
society today is often exposed to war as well. In both books, war is used as propaganda to control
society, and it is also an idea that is to be supported no matter what. In 1984, the society is controlled
by the flow of hatred.

2. Registering Property
According to the World Bank s report Doing Business in 2007 How to Reform , Nigeria s reforms
have led to a reduction in the time required to complete the process of property registration from
274 to 80 days, but a lot still needs to be done because it takes only 1 day in some other countries such
as Norway and Singapore. We should however note that part of the reduction in time is likely as a
result of improvements in property registration which has been implemented in Abuja and in
Lagos as well. In fact the Doing Business indication of 80 days is based on a test case of property
registration in Lagos. I urge other state governments to replicate the improvements achieved in the
Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) and Lagos State in their various states. Investors are
comfortable in environments where registration is automated and procedures are minimal, and will be
glad to invest in such places.
Automation though important, should be accompanied by changes in work culture in government
registries. The time taken to register property must be substantially reduced. The current time taken is
definitely unacceptable if we want to attract private investment.
The fees paid to register property in Nigeria are extremely high and have

The Role Of Pancasila In Indonesian Ideology
Lately, Pancasila (Five Principles), Indonesian ideology, has been a trending topic in Indonesia. The
first case was in the first quarter of 2016 when an Indonesian singer deliberately making fun of the

cotton, however turned into a joke into twerking duck (Ramadhan, 2016). It was an insult towards
Indonesian ideology and she was facing an imprisonment and fine with the basis of blasphemy of the

Coevolution And Evolutionary Responses At First Thought
Coevolution and Evolutionary Responses At first thought, it might seem as if everything is involved in
coevolution. This assumption might be drawn due to the fact that basically every organism interacts
with another organism and possibly influences their evolution in some way. However, this assumption
depends entirely on one s definition of coevolution. There are many other forms of evolutionary
responses other than coevolution including: evolutionary relationships between antagonists,
evolutionary equilibrium, genetic variation in competitive ability, and character displacement, all
which will be discussed later on. In fact, all of these evolutionary responses revolve around the idea
that interacting populations tend to evolve in response to features which affect evolutionary strength.
First, species evolve in ways that improve, or at least maintain, their ability to live. Communities,
however, do not undergo the same process. No community evolves as a unit. Species may evolve in
ways that are mostly influenced by ecology. This means that species evolve by their relationship with
one or a few species, which in turn allows the others to evolve as well. Coevolution is commonly
described as a change in the genetic composition of one species, or group, in response to a genetic
change in another and was coined by Ehrlich and Raven after observing plant herbivore interactions.
Around the same time, Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species, which also spoke of the

Uniforms In High School Uniforms
Growing up in parochial schools, uniforms were a part of my daily life. I wore uniforms for twelve
consecutive years, and I feel very strongly that they impacted my education for the better. I had many
friends attending public schools, and though they got to wear the latest fashion trends and look cute
going to school, I felt that they were at a disadvantage not having uniforms. Uniforms should be
implemented in primary and secondary schools because they enhance self esteem, produce a
conducive learning environment, increase safety, and are cost effective.
It is no surprise that children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures attend
the same schools. Individuality is a beautiful thing, but many times children seeing differences among
their peers allows room for confusion, animosity, jealousy, and even anger. If a child is insecure about
their clothes or appearance, their self esteem can suffer. Principle of Barbara Comstock Morse
Elementary School, Mike Gulden, puts it plainly when asked what would happen if uniforms
disappeared tomorrow, Our needy kids and fairly well to do kids might become magnified and
polarized... There s that stigma of my socioeconomic status. Kids 5, 6, 7 years old shouldn t have to
deal with that. (Boutelle 36.) When children aren t worried about what their clothes say about how
much money their family has or their home life, they will feel more confident knowing they are
dressed how everyone else is dressed.
People who are apposed to the implementation of uniforms in schools argue that uniforms do not hide
socioeconomic status. This may be true, but it certainly does minimize the visual signs of one s
financial situation. There is always going to be a wide range of diversity in schools. This should not
change, but as Gulden puts it, Life has enough hurdles for families and kids; I don t think one of them
should be at school. (Boutelle 36.) Self esteem is a very sensitive thing for kids as they grow up, and
as they go through puberty. Uniforms can boost that self esteem, and help those kids walk a little taller
every day at school.
The environment of a school is very important and has a huge impact on the children in that school
and how they learn.

The definition of Honorable can be defined in many ways. But in this case it means to have high

The comparison between John Milton s Paradise Lost and...
Of Things Invisible to Mortal SightThe Holy Bible is in many ways a story of origins. The history
recounted both in the Old and New Testaments has at its base the perception of a fallen humanity;
beginning with the fall from Eden and the nature of evil, to the means of regaining Gods grace and the
discussion of free will, it emphasizes humanitys inability to fully comprehend the nature of God and
of the universe. In writing his epic Paradise Lost, John Milton is fully aware of his limitations as a
mortal man; however, in an attempt to transcend the finite to the infinite, to describe the indescribable
and to understand the unknown, Milton bases his arguments on Biblical theology to show that
mankind has fallen from immortality to mortality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this event is mentioned often within the Holy Bible Milton expounds upon it and
dedicates the first two books of Paradise Lost entirely to a description of hell and Satans plan to tempt
humanity. It can be assumed that Milton basses his arguments on one of the more detailed descriptions
of Satan that can be found in the book of Isaiah, chapter 14:12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O
Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of
God 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like the most High.
Milton draws his inspiration from these verses in describing Satans pride and his attempt to wage war
in heaven. However, in his attempt to make Paradise Lost both a conversation and a narration, Milton
decides to describe Satans descend from heaven in closer detail, even with the risk of committing
sacrilege.
The first difference between Miltons epic and the Holy Bible is seen as Milton begins the narration in
hell; just moments before, Satan and his following angels are thrown out from heaven because of
disobedience. Miltons main purpose is to juxtapose the fallen natures of the demons with that of
humanity and to show the inferior natures of people to that of angels.

audience interprets what is being said. Personally, I am not confident with my speaking skills at this
point. I would like my audience to fully comprehend the concepts or facts that I would present to
them. In order to do so I must improve my speaking skills I believe that a problem most people,
including myself, have when giving speeches is facing an audience. Just looking out to an audience of

The whole point of a speech is to get a message across to an audience or a group of people. If you
speed through a speech and just mumble, you are not only wasting your own time but your audiences
as well.
When giving a speech it is handy to have a list of key concepts with you that you want to get across to
your audience. Writing out your whole speech will not do. Writing out your full speech may cause you
to have your head buried in your notes for your entire presentation. As a high school student you can
get away with this, but in the real world no one will trust you unless you look them in the eye when
talking to them. I must admit that it is very hard for me to look at people when I am giving a speech,
but it is imperative that I do so. I not only want my audience to understand what I am trying to say to
them, but I want them to believe me as well. Also, when you don t face your audience they tend to
lose interest and start conversations or activities of their own. In order to gain the trust and respect of
your audience, it is absolutely necessary to look them in the eye when speaking to them.
I hate it when people speak in monotone, but it happens to the best of us. It is so boring to hear a
speech that is given in a monotonous voice without any variety in their tone. Speaking in monotone
puts your audience to sleep. This can happen to anyone who is reading their speech word for word. It
has happened to me, and before I knew it my

Church s Opposition To Capital Punishment In The Roman...
Capital punishment: the legally authorized killing of someone as punishment for crime. In the United
States, there is a distinct line between matters of Church and State; capital punishment falls under the
territory of the State. But, in 1974, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the USCCB,
made the decision to publically announce the Roman Catholic Church s opposition to capital
punishment after a former president of the USCCB called the issue of capital punishment not only a
profound legal and political question but also an important moral and religious issue. But, even this
sagacious group of Church officials had a difficult time pin pointing the Church s exact reasoning for
their defensive against capital punishment. Throughout the article, the bishops try to make sense of
many twisting questions, including: in the eyes of the Church, what circumstances, if any, make
capital punishment acceptable? Although the 1980 article was released by the USCCB in attempts to
help the people of the Church understand this contradictory issue, it fell short due to the fact that even
the accredited statements run in circles.
According to Part I, Purposes of Punishment , the Catholic Church is not and will never be completely
sure if the state has the right to end the life of a person guilty for a heinous crime. While ending the
villain s life protects the citizens from danger, it violates the Roman Catholic Church s belief that all
life has value. Bishops urged

Baking Soda Lab Report
Introduction
Baking soda is a common household item. It is used for a variety of things from cooking to cleaning.
Baking soda is synthesised on an industrial scale using the Solvay process. The Solvay process consist
of using limestone and extreme heat in order to break down the limestone into carbon dioxide and
calcium oxide.1
CaCO3(s)→ CO2(g) + CaO(s) The carbon dioxide is then combined with a concentrated solution of
water, sodium chloride, and ammonium. The ammonia and water react to make ammonium hydroxide
that reacts with sodium and carbon dioxide to form sodium bicarbonate.
CO2(g) +NH3(aq)+NaCl(aq)+H2O(l)→NaHCO3(s)+NH4Cl(g)2
The Solvay process then recycles the ammonia by performing an acid base reaction. The calcium
oxide is combined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Results and Discussions After filtration, 5.256 g of sodium bicarbonate was obtained. An experimental
error in this experiment was that 100 percent of the carbon dioxide did not go through the nalgene
tube because some went up the thistle tube. Another source of experimental error was that not all of
the sodium bicarbonate could be rinsed off of the glassware and not all of it was filtered. Both sources
of experimental error led to a lower yield. Precipitation reactions could have been done to confirm the
presence of carbonate ions in the product. Either calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, or silver could
have been added to the product and carbonate would have precipitated out. Using stoichiometry and
the mole to mole ratio from the 2nd formula listed above, it was found that 3x108 Kg of carbon
dioxide is needed to produce the 700,000 tons of Arm and Hammer baking soda. In order to obtain the
5.256 g of product, 2.753 g of carbon dioxide was converted into sodium

Children s Responsibilities For Children
Every adult who has children knows it is a challenging experience and extremely rewarding,
especially when the children grow to be responsible, independent, caring, productive adults and
parents in their own right. After helping raise my own children, being a professional martial arts
instructor since 1979, teaching thousands of children and helping other parents raise their children (so
they tell me), here are 10 keys I feel are important to raising children successfully.
1. Leadership
Kids need a leader, someone who is strong, responsible, caring and committed to their highest and
best good. What children do not need is to be the parent to their parents. Children do not need to be
buddies, pals or best friends with their parents until they, the children, are adults. Children are
children. They need leaders to lead, guide and direct them through their early life. Those leaders are
the parents who need to take a front row in raising their kids. For children to be successful in life, they
need a strong parental foundation, one that puts them before their parent s careers, activities,
relationships and jobs. Children should never be thought of as appendages to a parent s life. Until the
children are of legal age, the children are the parent s life. When this commitment is given to children,
it is a boon to their early development and later success as responsible and independent adults.
2. Structure
Children need structure. They need foundational guidelines. They need to

Use of Social Marketing to Control the STDs Pandemic Essay
Introduction Since the beginning of time, many of the plagues that we have faced have been global
and catastrophic in nature the Bubonic Plague for example decimated nearly 1/5 of the world
population in the Middle Ages. In modern times, the later decades of the 20th century has seen a
pandemic that is wrecking just as much havoc on the globe Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and
one in particular HIV and AIDs. The focus of this paper will explore past interventions using social
marketing and Social Network Theory as their foundation to encourage condom usage to prevent the
spread of STDs.

As commercial marketing works towards profits and benefiting the marketer, social marketing works
for the benefit for society and the consumer (Pealer 2014). The ultimate goal of social marketing is
achieving voluntary behavioral change and adoption of healthier behavioral habits. In the 1970s,
Kotler and Zaltman both promulgated that the same marketing principles used to sell products can be
used to see ideas. There are four principles to Social Marketing product, price, place and promotion.
Product is the health behavior you want to implement, the changes you want others to take to become
healthier. Price is the cost of attaining the behavior, from financial barriers to social pressures
inhibiting such health behaviors from taking root. Place is the channels to which one can reach the
consumer and promotion are events, outreach programs, public service announcements advocating the
behavior. In social marketing, one has to know the audience in question, know their demographics and
know how they communicate in order to effectively send your message. (add more here about social
marketing etc) Add something about vicarious learning
Social Marketing in Practice As HIV/AIDs became more widespread, Louisiana became of the first
states in the US to implement a statewide initiative for condom implementation in 1993. As the
authors stated, condom social marketing is a key strategy used

The Center For Health Care Services
What is the agency you selected, and what is your rationale for choosing this particular agency? The
center for health care services. I chose this agency because I like what it has to offer not only for its
employees, but for the community.
2.What other agencies did you consider, and why did you not select them? Community Options, Inc.,
and Austin Area Mental Health Consumers, Inc. Community options inc is an amazing company. The
fact that they go above and beyond for their clients with special needs holds close to my heart. They
recognizing that people with the most severe disabilities need environments, equipment, clinical and
staff support that are tailored to their very specific needs. In my opinion, there are not a lot of

Why would you like to be employed at this agency?
The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) operates a wide range of psychosocial and medical
programs in Bexar County whose target populations include individuals with behavioral health
disorders and intellectual disabilities. (The center for health care services, http://chcsbc.org/board of
trustees/) The Center for health care services also offers care for the homeless population and those
who are suffering and trying to recover from substance abuse. After searching the internet and
comparing multiple agencies, I always found myself coming back to CHCS. I love that this agency
offers all forms of help for people with special needs and those who are suffering from mental Illness.
I have a brother who is special and suffers from both behavioral and intellectual disabilities. I feel like
working for this agency, I would learn to understand my brother more, and be able to support him in
ways I haven t before. I also love that the CHCS works with veterans. As a (former) military spouse, I
was always interested in the health and wellness of our soldiers who suffer from PTSD, and mental
illness. One of the most fulfilling aspects of working in the mental health field is being able to provide
support to others during the most challenging moments in their life. To me, it became apparent after
researching that this agency offers everything I want

Women s Loyalty In The Military Research Paper
I served 24 years in the Marine Corps as an infantry officer and I absolutely respect the incredibly
qualified females I had the opportunity to serve with. However, I wholeheartedly disagree with
women assigned to an infantry position. It is NOT a right to serve and we discriminate every day in
the military. If you re too tall, too short, too heavy, too light, or can t pass physical, mental, or moral
requirements then too bad, find another job. I m sure there are plenty of 6 ft, 10 in tall people who
have the mental capacity to be a fighter pilot but that doesnt mean we redesign aircraft to support
everyone who wants a shot at being a pilot. Sorry, go find another job. I believe 100% there are
women who can pass the physical requirements of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I served at the School of Infantry and witnessed the initial testing being conducted on females going
through infantry training. I saw outstanding young female Marines being pushed past their capabilities
only to result in injuries such as femoral head stress fractures. Injuries that will leave some of those
young women debilitated later in life. In the end, did those tests or will adding a few women to the
pool of infantrymen make us more lethal....No. If it doesn t make our military more lethal then it
doesn t make sense to do it. People seem to forget the purpose of the military, or more specifically, the
purpose of the infantry...To locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and/or maneuver. It isn t
like a video game or a cheesy movie. It takes a well honed, mentally and physically fit unit to execute
the missions of the infantry. Anything that detracts from that creates a vulnerability and anything that
doesn t add to that is just wasted effort. I saw a comment above from a young lady who says she is 15

Finally, my legacy will inspire people to try harder and never give up. The lives who I have touched

Taking a Look at Conflict Resolution
To manage these conflict styles; avoidance, accommodation, aggression, and collaboration
management styles are used. Roommates use these styles when dealing with conflict. The style they
choose relates to how they will use text messaging in conflict and how they would like their face to be
perceived by the individual involved in the conflict. When a roommate chooses avoidance they are
pretending the conflict does not exist and will avoid any form of communication for fear of their face
being perceived negatively. We see an explanation of this from Erving Goffman where he proposed an
idea of facework as a social performance where we are all actors. He offered a cooperative principle
where people agree to support each other s performance or face. To not support each other s face is to
disrupt the entire scene, because no one can continue in performance when others are embarrassed or
shamed (Cupach Metts, 1994). Based on the conflict modes of Thomas and Kilmann, there are five
styles of conflict management: avoiding, accommodating, collaborating, competing and
compromising. Accommodation happens when a person attempts to satisfy the other person s concerns
at the expense of their own, Avoiding is where a person sidesteps the conflict without trying to satisfy
either person s concern, Compromising is when the person partially satisfies both people s concerns,
Collaborating is when a person tries to find a win win solution that satisfies both people s concerns,
and Competing

Comparing Cinder And Cinderella
Although Cinder and Cinderella have many similarities, there are also differences. They have the same
plot, the same theme and have more differences than similarities. But Cinderella is a movie and cinder

Cinderella s name is Ella. not Cinderella. Her step sister nicknamed her that. Ella knew her birth
mother and father. Her mother died when she was young and her father died shortly after her step
mother came into her life. Ella s friends are animals (mice). She is a lonely girl. She meets the prince
in the woods. She meets him again at a ball. The prince s father dies after the ball. Ella has a fairy

Nick Carraway as Honest Liar in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby
Everyone suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I am one of the few
honest people that I have ever known (Fitzgerald Gatsby 64). So writes Nick Carraway in F. Scott
Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, characterizing himself in opposition to the great masses of humanity as
a perfectly honest man. The honesty that Nick attributes to himself must be a nearly perfect one, by
dint of both its rarity and its cardinal nature; Nick asserts for himself that he is among the most honest
people he has ever encountered. Events in the book, however, do not bear this self characterization
out; far from being among the most honest people in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The discussion immediately preceding the characterization is most pressing on an interpretation of this
self characterization, as it provides a clear example of Nick s dishonesty just moments before he
claims to be perfectly honest. Nick says of Jordan Baker, Her grey sun strained eyes stared straight
ahead, but she had deliberately shifted our relations, and for a moment I thought I loved her (63). But,
however, before he could actively pursue Miss Baker, he acknowledges, there was one little matter he
had to deal with:
But I am slow thinking and full of interior rules that act as brakes on my desires, and I knew that first I
had to get myself out of that tangle back home. I d been writing letters once a week and signing them
Love, Nick ...Nevertheless there was a vague understanding that had to be tactfully broken off before I
was free. (64)
Immediately preceding his statement about being one of the few honest people he has ever known, he
admits to both falsely proclaiming his love and perpetuating a vague understanding he had no
intention of fulfilling. What s more, Nick takes his long belated decision to now, finally, deal with the
situation as evidence of his perfect honesty ignoring entirely the preceding weeks and months of
deception!
This matter of the girl back home warrants further study. This is the girl whom Daisy and Tom ask
about, and the subject of whom Nick clearly (and

From the start of historic civilizations to modern era, science has evolved drastically and continues to change based off of pre existing notions formulated by pre existing notions to those. This cycle of taking ideas that have been previously established and creating new and falsifiable hypotheses revolve around scientific paradigms. These scientific paradigms provide accepted models that give scientists a starting point, per se, for further research and progression beyond that point. Scientists understand that everything they know now can later be proven false or altered to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the scientific method helps prove previous ideas to be true by creating falsifiable hypotheses, and not being able to prove them false. Thusly, allowing scientists to accept the Null Hypothesis , which states that there is no correlation between your results and hypothesis. Furthermore, referring to the Null Hypothesis attempts to give experimental data meaning. If experimental results cannot prove something false, and correlates with the subject at hand, you would reject the Null Hypothesis . Methods We can test the fallacy of folk magic by executing the following experiment. We hypothesized that, because there are five total cards, each representing one different symbol, the participant will correctly guess five of the twenty five cards, about twenty percent by chance. Below this number says the student has no psychic ability, above says otherwise . To test this hypothesis, we collected data from twenty five different students and correlated the data to folk magic s consistency. We had students draw twenty five cards, one card at a time, and gave them the chance to correctly name each drawn card. Not only did we test the credibility of folk magic, but we conducted a similar experiment with respect to Astrology s fallacy. We obtained data from a wide variety of students with different backgrounds and cultures, but analyzed one individuals results. The student obtained 8 journal entries that described a person s ... Others may think being blood related means you re more important to them then someone who may not be. But to me, blood has nothing to do with who you care about and who you consider family. It doesn t shape you as a person and doesn t define who you are going to be. I am adopted, therefore, most of my family and I do not share the same DNA. But I have learned that it doesn t matter if you have the same color hair as your mother, or the same eyes as your father. What matters is the love and the care that people share for you, that s what makes you family. Just because someone may share the same physical characteristics as you, doesn t mean you will have the same emotional characteristics. For me, this is something I have had to learn a lot over time. My biological mother and father weren t the best role models. I was taken away from them at the age of five and put into foster care. As I was growing up I had this growing fear that I would be exactly like them. I have younger siblings, and for a lot of my life I ve had to look over them and be their support system. I was constantly worried I was not enough for them, I would worry that I would let them down. • 5. Antarctica Is The Third Largest Continent On The World Map Antarctica is the fifth largest Continent on the world map which covers close to 14.2 million square kilometres of land space that includes the ice sheets which unfolds onto the sea (Martin, 2013). Antarctica once used to be part of Gondwana supercontinent until it fragmented itself 70 million years ago and moved to the South Pole making it isolated from other land areas (Martin, 2013). Antarctica was once ice free, had temperatures well above freezing point and was also filled with greeneries forty million years ago during the early Oligocene period (Florindo Siegert, 2008). In the latter half of the Oligocene towards the Miocene period, temperature in Antarctica started to descend. Factors such as the height of Antarctica, which is 2800 metres above sea level, the Atmosphere in the Southern Hemisphere being much thinner with minimal cloud cover that leads to high albedo and the ocean currant movement around Antarctica has made Antarctica as cold as minus sixty Degrees Celsius for humans to inhibit living here (Harwood et al., 2006). Scientists have been able to track back on the climate conditions in Antarctica over the past thirteen million years with the aid of collecting rocks, soil, animal and plant fossils buried deep down into the ground beyond the thick ice formation that covers the Antarctic region currently. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict sense of honor and self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for the Earth and other people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had used the Code of Bushido to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to motivate the people to murder and die for the code. The book chronicles her relationship with Augustus Waters, who has also been diagnosed with cancer. Throughout the novel, Hazel constantly struggles with her identity in relation to her disease. She is conflicted whether to accept the prescribed image society has of her or to embrace her true inner self. Through a period of self realization, she eventually comes to terms with and redefines her identity. Although society may define an individual s self image, The Fault in Our Stars demonstrates that identity is defined by the inner self, rather than external forces; in turn, that self perception deeply impacts one s perspective on life. There are many excellent reasons to employ Linux as the operating system of choice for our company: Linux is tried and true ; is used by many large companies, such as Google , Amazon , Facebook , and many of the cloud service providers; is less expensive; more reliable and stable; has extensive free community support; uses memory and CPU resources more efficiently; is reasonably easy and quick to install; and is much less vulnerable to viruses and malware than the Microsoft Windows operating system. Linux can be used on almost any type or brand of computer or server, including older models. I will demonstrate that Linux is a viable and less expensive alternative to Windows and will perform well in our server and workstation environments. Server Environment Hardware Considerations Existing hardware. Our existing hardware can be used for the new Linux OS. The music of this time period is still being performed to this day and each performance varies due to different interpretations of a particular piece. This article can serve as a great tool for advising choral directors on specific decisions they must make within a piece regarding the use of vibrato. The article can also be directed to musicologist who have had debates about this vocal technique. • 11. The Scopes Trial Induced A Pivotal Point The Scopes Trial induced a pivotal point in American history because it symbolizes the conflict between science and theology, faith and reason, individual liberty, and majority rule. This trial was to decide not only the fate of an evolution teacher, but also to decide if traditionalists or modernists would rule American culture. An object of intense publicity, the trial was seen as a clash between urban sophistication and rural fundamentalism. On January 20, 1925, a Tennessee state senator named John A. Shelton proposed a bill to make the teaching of evolution in the state s public schools a felony, or a criminal act. Fundamentalists had been supporting and pushing the passage of laws such as this for years, because the teaching of evolution and Darwinism contradicts the religious beliefs of creation in Christianity. Popular evangelist, Billy Sunday, undertook an eighteen day crusade in Memphis in support of the prospective bill. Night after night, Sunday s audiences grew until more than two hundred thousand people heard him preach against the evils of evolution. The bill, known as the Butler Act, was officially passed on March 21, 1925, just 3 months after its proposal. Just as state legislators suspected, the ink had hardly dried on the Butler Act before its first challenger emerged. As tea drinking had become obsession with the British society, consumption of tea replaced home brewed beer, gin, milk and traditional infusions of indigenous plants. Hegel s The Phenomenolgy of Mind elucidates the concept of alienation and self alienated spirit which however here have consequences far more significant and opposite to the generalized concept of alienation . He bases his account of the development of human spirit and human self development on the premise of the concept of alienation. To Hegel, the self is a historical and social creation. Fromm equates the phenomenon of alienation with the effects of capitalism on personality. By alienation he means a mode of experience in which the person experiences himself/herself as an alien, ceases to experience himself/herself as the centre of his world, as the creator of his/her own acts and takes to obeying or even worshipping his/her acts and their consequences as his/her masters (117). Generally, the metastatic potential is through to be due to tumor heterogeneities which origin from the differences generated in the evolution process of cancer itself as well as host microenvironment. The capability of invasion and metastasis is closely related to cell motility and requires the cytoskeleton that is essential during mitoses[18]. Since malignancy criteria are mainly related to the phenotype of actively proliferating cells, metastatic deposits genetically match well differentiated areas of primary and invasive areas[19]. These factors need attention when planning the evaluation of intratumoral heterogeneity and detailed specification would be necessary to pinpoint the intratumoral location, to assess selective process and to analyze pathways[18, 20]. It should be noted that primary tumors can be successfully removed by surgery in most cases, but this is most often not the case for metastatic outgrowths. • 30. Factors That Affect The Rate Of The Chemical Reaction Introduction A chemical reaction is when two or more (different) substances, react with each other to form new chemical substances(product). In a chemical reaction, the molecular structure is rearranged. When the molecular structure is rearranged it can increased or decreased. The signs of a chemical reaction include a colour change, temperature change, formation into a gas and odour change. The rate of reaction can be increased by increasing the temperature, concentration and the expansion of the surface area which is explained by collision theory collision theory. Collision theory is when the kinetic energy increases the chance that the atoms and molecules collide. Kinetic energy is an energy which a body possesses by virtue of being in motion. By increasing the temperature the particles start to move around quicker because they have more energy. This means that it is more likely to collide with the other substance making it easier than to collide with each other, making the reaction rate higher. Changing the concentration of the solution the particles become more crowded, therefore there is a greater chance of the particles colliding, increasing the rate of the reaction. Lastly, by expanding the surface area the particles are more exposed to the reactant, there s will be more constant so the rate of reaction increases. Aim The purpose of this experiment is to investigate three different variables(increase in surface area, increase in temperature and increase in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Coevolution And Evolutionary Responses At First Thought Coevolution and Evolutionary Responses At first thought, it might seem as if everything is involved in coevolution. This assumption might be drawn due to the fact that basically every organism interacts with another organism and possibly influences their evolution in some way. However, this assumption depends entirely on one s definition of coevolution. There are many other forms of evolutionary responses other than coevolution including: evolutionary relationships between antagonists, evolutionary equilibrium, genetic variation in competitive ability, and character displacement, all which will be discussed later on. In fact, all of these evolutionary responses revolve around the idea that interacting populations tend to evolve in response to features which affect evolutionary strength. First, species evolve in ways that improve, or at least maintain, their ability to live. Communities, however, do not undergo the same process. No community evolves as a unit. Species may evolve in ways that are mostly influenced by ecology. This means that species evolve by their relationship with one or a few species, which in turn allows the others to evolve as well. Coevolution is commonly described as a change in the genetic composition of one species, or group, in response to a genetic change in another and was coined by Ehrlich and Raven after observing plant herbivore interactions. I wore uniforms for twelve consecutive years, and I feel very strongly that they impacted my education for the better. I had many friends attending public schools, and though they got to wear the latest fashion trends and look cute going to school, I felt that they were at a disadvantage not having uniforms. Uniforms should be implemented in primary and secondary schools because they enhance self esteem, produce a conducive learning environment, increase safety, and are cost effective. It is no surprise that children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures attend the same schools. Individuality is a beautiful thing, but many times children seeing differences among their peers allows room for confusion, animosity, jealousy, and even anger. If a child is insecure about their clothes or appearance, their self esteem can suffer. Principle of Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary School, Mike Gulden, puts it plainly when asked what would happen if uniforms disappeared tomorrow, Our needy kids and fairly well to do kids might become magnified and polarized... There s that stigma of my socioeconomic status. Kids 5, 6, 7 years old shouldn t have to deal with that. (Boutelle 36.) When children aren t worried about what their clothes say about how much money their family has or their home life, they will feel more confident knowing they are dressed how everyone else is dressed. People who are apposed to the implementation of uniforms in schools argue that uniforms do not hide socioeconomic status. This may be true, but it certainly does minimize the visual signs of one s financial situation. There is always going to be a wide range of diversity in schools. This should not change, but as Gulden puts it, Life has enough hurdles for families and kids; I don t think one of them should be at school. (Boutelle 36.) Self esteem is a very sensitive thing for kids as they grow up, and as they go through puberty. Uniforms can boost that self esteem, and help those kids walk a little taller every day at school. The history recounted both in the Old and New Testaments has at its base the perception of a fallen humanity; beginning with the fall from Eden and the nature of evil, to the means of regaining Gods grace and the discussion of free will, it emphasizes humanitys inability to fully comprehend the nature of God and of the universe. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though this event is mentioned often within the Holy Bible Milton expounds upon it and dedicates the first two books of Paradise Lost entirely to a description of hell and Satans plan to tempt humanity. It can be assumed that Milton basses his arguments on one of the more detailed descriptions of Satan that can be found in the book of Isaiah, chapter 14:12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like the most High. Milton draws his inspiration from these verses in describing Satans pride and his attempt to wage war in heaven. However, in his attempt to make Paradise Lost both a conversation and a narration, Milton decides to describe Satans descend from heaven in closer detail, even with the risk of committing sacrilege. The first difference between Miltons epic and the Holy Bible is seen as Milton begins the narration in hell; just moments before, Satan and his following angels are thrown out from heaven because of disobedience. Miltons main purpose is to juxtapose the fallen natures of the demons with that of humanity and to show the inferior natures of people to that of angels. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CO2(g) +NH3(aq)+NaCl(aq)+H2O(l)→NaHCO3(s)+NH4Cl(g)2 The Solvay process then recycles the ammonia by performing an acid base reaction. The calcium oxide is combined ... An experimental error in this experiment was that 100 percent of the carbon dioxide did not go through the nalgene tube because some went up the thistle tube. Another source of experimental error was that not all of the sodium bicarbonate could be rinsed off of the glassware and not all of it was filtered. Both sources of experimental error led to a lower yield. Precipitation reactions could have been done to confirm the presence of carbonate ions in the product. Either calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, or silver could have been added to the product and carbonate would have precipitated out. Using stoichiometry and the mole to mole ratio from the 2nd formula listed above, it was found that 3x108 Kg of carbon dioxide is needed to produce the 700,000 tons of Arm and Hammer baking soda. In order to obtain the 5.256 g of product, 2.753 g of carbon dioxide was converted into sodium ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Children s Responsibilities For Children Every adult who has children knows it is a challenging experience and extremely rewarding, especially when the children grow to be responsible, independent, caring, productive adults and parents in their own right. After helping raise my own children, being a professional martial arts instructor since 1979, teaching thousands of children and helping other parents raise their children (so they tell me), here are 10 keys I feel are important to raising children successfully. 1. Leadership Kids need a leader, someone who is strong, responsible, caring and committed to their highest and best good. What children do not need is to be the parent to their parents. Children do not need to be buddies, pals or best friends with their parents until they, the children, are adults. Children are children. They need leaders to lead, guide and direct them through their early life. Those leaders are the parents who need to take a front row in raising their kids. For children to be successful in life, they need a strong parental foundation, one that puts them before their parent s careers, activities, relationships and jobs. Children should never be thought of as appendages to a parent s life. Until the children are of legal age, the children are the parent s life. When this commitment is given to children, it is a boon to their early development and later success as responsible and independent adults. 2. Structure Children need structure. They need foundational guidelines. They need to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As commercial marketing works towards profits and benefiting the marketer, social marketing works for the benefit for society and the consumer (Pealer 2014). The ultimate goal of social marketing is achieving voluntary behavioral change and adoption of healthier behavioral habits. In the 1970s, Kotler and Zaltman both promulgated that the same marketing principles used to sell products can be used to see ideas. There are four principles to Social Marketing product, price, place and promotion. Product is the health behavior you want to implement, the changes you want others to take to become healthier. Price is the cost of attaining the behavior, from financial barriers to social pressures inhibiting such health behaviors from taking root. Place is the channels to which one can reach the consumer and promotion are events, outreach programs, public service announcements advocating the behavior. In social marketing, one has to know the audience in question, know their demographics and know how they communicate in order to effectively send your message. • 48. Women s Loyalty In The Military Research Paper I served 24 years in the Marine Corps as an infantry officer and I absolutely respect the incredibly qualified females I had the opportunity to serve with. However, I wholeheartedly disagree with women assigned to an infantry position. It is NOT a right to serve and we discriminate every day in the military. If you re too tall, too short, too heavy, too light, or can t pass physical, mental, or moral requirements then too bad, find another job. I m sure there are plenty of 6 ft, 10 in tall people who have the mental capacity to be a fighter pilot but that doesnt mean we redesign aircraft to support everyone who wants a shot at being a pilot. Sorry, go find another job. I believe 100% there are women who can pass the physical requirements of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I served at the School of Infantry and witnessed the initial testing being conducted on females going through infantry training. I saw outstanding young female Marines being pushed past their capabilities only to result in injuries such as femoral head stress fractures. Injuries that will leave some of those young women debilitated later in life. In the end, did those tests or will adding a few women to the pool of infantrymen make us more lethal....No. If it doesn t make our military more lethal then it doesn t make sense to do it. People seem to forget the purpose of the military, or more specifically, the purpose of the infantry...To locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and/or maneuver. It isn t like a video game or a cheesy movie. It takes a well honed, mentally and physically fit unit to execute the missions of the infantry. Anything that detracts from that creates a vulnerability and anything that doesn t add to that is just wasted effort. I saw a comment above from a young lady who says she is 15 and understands ... • 50. Taking a Look at Conflict Resolution To manage these conflict styles; avoidance, accommodation, aggression, and collaboration management styles are used. Roommates use these styles when dealing with conflict. The style they choose relates to how they will use text messaging in conflict and how they would like their face to be perceived by the individual involved in the conflict. When a roommate chooses avoidance they are pretending the conflict does not exist and will avoid any form of communication for fear of their face being perceived negatively. We see an explanation of this from Erving Goffman where he proposed an idea of facework as a social performance where we are all actors. He offered a cooperative principle where people agree to support each other s performance or face. To not support each other s face is to disrupt the entire scene, because no one can continue in performance when others are embarrassed or shamed (Cupach Metts, 1994). Based on the conflict modes of Thomas and Kilmann, there are five styles of conflict management: avoiding, accommodating, collaborating, competing and compromising. Accommodation happens when a person attempts to satisfy the other person s concerns at the expense of their own, Avoiding is where a person sidesteps the conflict without trying to satisfy either person s concern, Compromising is when the person partially satisfies both people s concerns, Collaborating is when a person tries to find a win win solution that satisfies both people s concerns, and Competing ... Although Cinder has more in the book I think Cinderella has a lot more than cinder. Cinderella s name is Ella. not Cinderella. Her step sister nicknamed her that. Ella knew her birth mother and father. Her mother died when she was young and her father died shortly after her step mother came into her life. Ella s friends are animals (mice). • 52. Nick Carraway as Honest Liar in Fitzgerald s The Great... Nick Carraway as Honest Liar in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby Everyone suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known (Fitzgerald Gatsby 64). So writes Nick Carraway in F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, characterizing himself in opposition to the great masses of humanity as a perfectly honest man. The honesty that Nick attributes to himself must be a nearly perfect one, by dint of both its rarity and its cardinal nature; Nick asserts for himself that he is among the most honest people he has ever encountered. Events in the book, however, do not bear this self characterization out; far from being among the most honest people in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The discussion immediately preceding the characterization is most pressing on an interpretation of this self characterization, as it provides a clear example of Nick s dishonesty just moments before he claims to be perfectly honest. Nick says of Jordan Baker, Her grey sun strained eyes stared straight ahead, but she had deliberately shifted our relations, and for a moment I thought I loved her (63). But, however, before he could actively pursue Miss Baker, he acknowledges, there was one little matter he had to deal with: But I am slow thinking and full of interior rules that act as brakes on my desires, and I knew that first I had to get myself out of that tangle back home. I d been writing letters once a week and signing them Love, Nick ...Nevertheless there was a vague understanding that had to be tactfully broken off before I was free. (64) Immediately preceding his statement about being one of the few honest people he has ever known, he admits to both falsely proclaiming his love and perpetuating a vague understanding he had no intention of fulfilling. What s more, Nick takes his long belated decision to now, finally, deal with the situation as evidence of his perfect honesty ignoring entirely the preceding weeks and months of deception! This matter of the girl back home warrants further study. This is the girl whom Daisy and Tom ask about, and the subject of whom Nick clearly (and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
