Endosymbiosis and evolution of Organelles Essay
Endosymbiosis is important as it enables us to understand the evolution of eukaryotes from the
common ancestor. This essay will focus on: the early evolution of our eukaryote ancestor during
Precambrian period, plastids origin along the algae family due to second endosymbiosis; discuss the
evidence that supports the theory, including further examples of endosymbiosis. The theory, as
discussed by Lynn Margulis, states that mitochondria originated from α proteobacteria bacterium
which was engulfed by the ancestral anaerobic eukaryotic cell, through endocytosis, and retained
within the cytoplasm due to atmospheric oxygen increase. Prokaryote organism produced ATP,
through oxidative phosphorylation, by receiving organic compounds from ... Show more content on

They all have a double membrane chloroplasts, but the glaucophytes plastid morphology is unusual
because it resembles cyanobacteria, as they still include the outer peptidoglycan layer between the
chloroplast envelopes, and also resemble Chlorophyta and Rhodophyta plastid. Both Rhodophyta and
Glaucophyta consist of various features that are derived from the cyanobacteria but absent from
Chlorophyta. These are phycobilins pigments and phycobilisomes on the surface on thylakoid
membranes. Because of sequencing algae chloroplast genomes it is evident that glaucophytes,
rhodophytes and chlorophytes have evolved from a second endosymbiotic event, since they are
closely related to the ancestral cyanobacteria (Tomitani, 2006). Alternatively, some algal groups have
chloroplast with more than a double membrane, such as photosynthetic dinoflagellates and
stramenophile, implying that secondary endosymbiosis occurred due to heterotrophic eukaryote
engulfing chloroplast containing eukaryote. The secondary endosymbiosis event is suggested as
nucleomorphs , traces of primary host s nucleus, are present in the periplastid space between the
second and third chloroplast membranes of cryptomonads and chlorarachniophytes. In the
cryptomonads the nucleomorphs is formed due to the reduction of red algal nucleus and in the
chlorarachniophytes due to the reduction of green algal nucleus. Thus, plants had multiple
endosymbiotic events and each evolved independently

Life Lessons In This Is Water By David Foster Wallace
Many people are self centered, it s part of who they are. This is seen every day in the modern world, a
lot of people only care about themselves. David Foster Wallace is an author of many short stories. This
is Water is arguably the best and strongest story he has ever written. This is Water was a
commencement speech given at Kenyon College. This speech/short story, whatever you want to call it,
provides many examples as to how life is not perceived as it should be.
This is Water by David Foster Wallace is a short story that provides many life lessons. Lessons, for
example, the world does not spin around yourself. Also, it educates the lesson that you should not live
as though your fate is already chosen. Go for broke if there is a chance to affect your life emphatically.
Additionally, if not for the sacrifices of numerous people, we would not have similar freedoms that we
live within our day to say life. Ultimately, life isn t an assurance, you should know, know that things
happen, great and terrible, yet it s the way you respond that influences your life to all around lived.
David Foster Wallaces first lesson in his short story, in which he gets to the point that th world does
not revolve around you is supported by a couple of quotes that he uses. He says, everything he
experiences supports his deep belief that the world revolves around him, he is the most important
person in existence. It is almost like everything that happens in his world, happens around him.

Citizen Science Research Paper
Citizen Science Essay When people read science articles, it s assumed that all the data calculated
comes from the publishers themselves, but that s not the case anymore. Many people are beginning to
become more involved in a plethora of projects near their neighborhoods, and by doing so are giving
scientist more data that can hopefully create change and have an effect on their ongoing projects. In
1990, in a Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, this act was given a name (Haven, Henderson 1).

Cohn, author of the Oxford Journal article Citizen Science: Can Volunteers Do Real Research? says
that data collected by individuals can be trusted if we [professionals] explain to them [individuals]
what they should be doing and how to do it then the data s reliability isn t questioned (3). This further
supports my opinion that the data collected from many individuals can be trusted to be valid. By being
a participant of this project, I have noticed how many plants are very common in Los Angeles. An
example of this is that many Angelinos have cacti s as plants either for decoration or as part of their
gardens. This is important because it shows that many people are conscious of the water crisis we are
currently experiencing in Los Angeles by having cacti as their choice of plant. Also, many hospitals in
the area highlighted seem to use the same flora like the Bird of Paradise flower. Therefore, by
gathering data we are not only helping researchers fulfill their projects but actively getting individuals
to learn more about their community and what flora and fauna are most common in certain areas, and
be conscious of what they can do to help wildlife that are dwindling in the area survive, and hopefully

Medical-Surgical Team Analysis
At 3M the team of six led by senior product specialist Rita Shor was formed, in order to tackle the
stagnation of sales in surgical drapes. In phase 1 the team started researching causes and methods to
prevent infections, a process that set them to the right path by gathering valuable information to be
used at later stage. During the second phase the team was able to capture trends and identify
parameters to the solution by formulating knowledge captured in the first phase. Hereby then the team
had a vision and successfully identified their needs to develop a breakthrough product. Setting out to
identify lead users, the team s interaction proved successful by intuitively tapping markets that
correlated their interests and their needs, for instance collaborated with make up artists who are
experts in applying skin materials that do not irritate and are easy to remove. Third phase took six

powers. Imagine attending a school where you ll study transfiguration and charms instead of
trigonometry and chem. Imagine the thrill of flying across the sky on a broomstick. These adventures
and many others are waiting to be experienced in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone by novelist J.
K. Rowling. This fanciful and entertaining tale has taken the youth of the nation by storm, and its sales

Michael O Connor
Omaha World Herald staff writer
The wildly popular Harry Potter books might be casting a spell over adults and children who just can t
seem to get enough of the young wizard in training, but some schools and parents aren t quite so
enchanted.
Some schools in the Omaha area and across the country aren t ready to place the books on their
shelves because of references to witchcraft and sorcery.
Our mission is to raise children up to be Christians and to be strong men and women of Christ, said
Vic Fordyce, an English teacher at Omaha Christian Academy. The books didn t match up with
Christian values.
The school, which has about 350 students in grades K 12, decided against selling the books at its book
fair earlier this month and has no plans to buy them for classrooms or the library, Fordyce said.
We just didn t want to put our stamp of approval on (the books), he said.
The three books by J.K. Rowling, which are at the top of the New York Times best seller list, chart the
course of 11 year old Harry, who learns of his famous wizard family past and is invited to Hogwarts
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The books are an issue at some public, as well as private, schools.
In South Carolina, parents have persuaded the State Board of Education to review whether the books
should be allowed in the classrooms.

Fundamental Principles of Duct System or Air Distribution...
CHAPTER 3 METHODOLOGY This project work is gives the fundamental principles of duct system
or air distribution system design for multi story building. There are mainly three type of duct sizing
method namely equal friction method, modified friction method (static regain method) and velocity
reduction method. In present day the use of manual duct calculator is normal and computer aided duct
design is becoming more popular. Also to learn the friction chart is very important to use this manual
duct calculator because these are the foundation of the other method. This will provide the necessary
knowledge to duct design error and overcome to these error. For designing the proper duct system
requires load estimation which is used to selecting the zone and air flow rate that the duct system
distributes. Ones the air flow rate is has been determined, the duct system component can be placed.
This includes the supply and returns diffusers and decides to air handling unit (AHU) or fan coil unit
(FCU) is good for that space. 3.1. 3.2. Classification of ducts The duct may be classified as follows:
3.2.1. Supply air duct The duct which supplies the conditioned air from the air conditioning equipment
to the space to be cooled is called supply air duct. 3.2.2. Return air duct The duct which carries the
reciprocating air from the conditioned space back to the air conditioning equipment is called return air
duct. 3.2.3. Fresh air duct The duct which carries the outside air is called

Essay On Program Evaluation
Program Evaluation The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program at the University of
Texas at Arlington has helped me to grow both personally and professionally. The top three take
aways from this program that I feel can be utilized in any career path include the knowledge I gained
on how to conduct and present action research, the writing skillset I developed which aided me in
becoming a better writer, and the training I received on how to be an effective leader. At the beginning
of this program I expected to learn how to be a principal. However, during the process I realized I
learned much more. For example, I learned how to lead using content knowledge and interpersonal

These chats should include a moderator who is a current and experienced administrator within a
school district. Online chats would be an excellent way to make connections and/or friendships with
people who will be impacting the future of education. Lastly, I believe that students would benefit
from conducting an action research project in a group versus completing a project alone. During our
program we learned about allowing for different formats during assessment or classroom activities.
Therefore, I believe that some students may have preferred working with a group on such a significant
project. The fact that students would be allowed to work with people from different backgrounds and
with different personality types to complete a project would equate with real world experience. The
opportunity to work with people is why the practicum is such a valuable experience. However, one
cannot carefully evaluate the practicum for this program without a brief discussion about mentors. The
mentor I chose for this program was approachable and generous with her time and knowledge. I felt
comfortable enough to ask questions or admit mistakes in order to learn. At the onset of the practicum
my mentor was just my boss. At the end of the practicum I esteemed her as a colleague and friend. I
believe that I was able to experience so much during the

Murder, Manslaughter, And Justifiable Homicide
In the United States the degrees by which a person can be charged with killing another person vary;
the degrees of murder include first, second, and third degree murder, the definitions of which can vary
in legal terms from state to state. These charges are considered to be legally separate from voluntary
manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, and justifiable homicide which each have their own
definitions (Cole, Smith, DeJong, 2014). Each type of murder, manslaughter and homicide is
determined by intent and negligible behavior and each will be examined in this paper (Cole et al.,
2014).
Murder
First Degree Murder
Murder has not always been defined by degrees by which the act took place, before the separation
began, murder of any type was a capital offense punishable by death. The state of Pennsylvania in
1793 was the first state to legally distinguish different degrees of murder, possibly to reduce the
amount of murders that resulted in capital punishment (Levinson, 2002). In most states today, first
degree murder is commonly defined as the unlawful, willing, and premeditated murder of another
human being committed with malice aforethought, which is used to indicate a person intended to kill
another person (Berman, n.d.). All states approach murder charges with variations on the same basic
principle, intent.
Second Degree Murder
Like all degrees of murder, second degree murder varies from state to state however in general terms it
is referred to as the unlawful killing

Growing Up In A Polish Language
Misunderstanding
Most people think languages are different from one another. The languages origin, pronunciation and
grammar. That in fact is not true. Many languages have similarly spelled and pronounced words that
mean the same or similar thing. Most languages around the world use Latin and Greek words, for
example in the medical field but not only. Being a bilingual student I think sharing origins of words
can be very helpful in learning a new language. Growing up in a Polish family, speaking polish,
practing polish culture and tradition made me realize how difficult Polish language is. Many polish
words are composed of letters like; ą, ż, ó, ć. These letters are similar to the ones you can see in a

jobs require you to speak more than one language and that is why I have the job I have. Or simply you

many conflicts occur, sometimes by mistake and some on purpose. I am a good example of that. As
my dentist appointment approached. I sat on the examining chair with my mom by my side and was
ready to get my tooth pulled. First I got my teeth cleaned by a family friend dental hygienist, but as a

The Effects Of Fertility Transition On Women s Growth...
With the world running out of resources and struggling to sustain the recent boom in world
population, governments around the world have been responding by trying to curb population growth
with population programmes. Fertility Transition is a process whereby a country changes from a high
birth rate to lower birth rate and is measured in terms of number of live births per 1000 women. This
process usually occurs when a country is developing. Countries which are undergoing fertility
transition in recent years have undergone a much more rapid transformation than when the present day
developed economies underwent transition a couple hundred years ago. High fertility is often
associated with poverty as there is a lack of education, healthcare and lack of sustainability within a
country. The reasons which cause a country to experience fertility transition include; the changing of
economy structure or economic growth, investment in education and the provision/subsidisation of
contraception.
Cuba is a government planned economy with poor economic prospects and a low fertility rate of 1.46
in 2014, down from 4.6% in 1963. Following the Cuban revolution, the was a big peak in fertility as

Exploring the Watches Worn by Famous Athletes
No matter what type of sports they play, athletes across the globe receive due recognition for their
prowess. Many athletes are introduced to their sport of choice at an early age, and they may have been
practicing for numerous years before they become well known to the public. Not everyone achieves
the level of success and worldwide adoration among fans that Beckham and Woods and Federer, have,
of course but countless individuals strive to reach such a degree of fame. The advantages afforded the
major players are significant, and that includes being paid far more than those in a multitude of other

Roger Federer is yet another athlete to have linked his name to the Rolex brand. He has excelled in a
sport that is typically ruled by young athletes, and he has continued to rank highly for more than 10
years. He has consistently garnered an impressive number of world records, so it s no surprise that a
luxury watch brand like Rolex would invite the celebrated tennis player to publicly approve of their
brand. His dedication to playing his sport in a classic style matches the image of the classic
watchmaker.
Plenty of other top competitors in tennis have lent their names and images to luxury watch companies,
as well. Novak Djokovic has represented Audemars Piguet watches for years. He was elevated himself
in the tennis world at a fast pace, and the watch company apparently recognized that he would serve
them well in their marketing efforts. Rafael Nadal has won multiple titles, so he was an obvious
choice for Richard Mille. The company collaborated to create a timepiece known as the Tourbillon

top athlete would appreciate. The watch that Nadal proudly wore on the court and that CNBC reporter

The Sex Chromosome ( X And Y ) Originates From A Pair Of...
INTRODUCTION:
The Sex chromosome(X and Y) originates from a pair of autosomes (H.J. Muller, 1914) about
350million years ago in reptile like ancestors (Charlesworth, 1991; Graves, 1995). Environmental
factor like temperature determines sex in some species e.g. crocodiles and turtles (Bull et al, 1975). In
humans, there are 22 pairs of chromosomes called the Autosomes and one pair of sex chromosome (X
Y) which makes a total of 23pairs of chromosomes. These 23pairs (46) chromosomes are contributed
by female and male gamete. Females have 22pairs of autosomes and one sex chromosome (X) while
males have Y sex chromosome in addition to the 22pairs of autosomes. This means that, the Y
chromosome can only be inherited paternally (Lahn Page, 1999).
The X chromosome is about a 165mega base in size and contains about 1000 functional genes (Ross et
al, 2005) while Y chromosome is about 65mega base in size with about 178genes (Skalestsky et al;
2003).The Mammalian Y chromosome contains 86 genes which code for specific proteins with
peculiar functions in sex fertility (Lahn Page, 1997). The Y chromosome is the most evolving part of
the human and chimpanzee genome. The Y chromosome is far superior in the evolutionary progress
than the entire human genetic code combined (Dr Page, 2001). The Y chromosome is said to be the
smallest chromosome in humans and contain more genes with mutation (Heinkchen, 2005).
The Primitive Y chromosome was found in Papaya (Liu et al, 2004) and the Y

Summary Of The Wind By Barbara Kingsolver
The narrator s name was created by her grandfather. The narrator s grandfather was in Virginia, at that
time people there owned slaves. He fell in love with a Cherokee and stole a horse to marry her and
people did not forgive him for that. Therefore he lost his family name and created a new one, the one
that the narrator has now. That s how the narrator s name was created.
The narrator uses words and imageries to describe her name. Refer to guarded , we can know that she
values her name very much. Refer to knew touched , we know that her name is connected to her
ancestors. Refer to one peppered, flaming autumn he stole a horse, rode over the mountain to marry a

For example, flaming autumn symbolizes passion, she shows us her grandfather s love to her
grandmother. Fruit and seeds symbolizes the care her grandfather gave to the name and the attention
he payed on it. Limbo symbolizes the pain and lost if she lost her name. This tells us how important
the narrator s name is to her. She used imageries in this poem as well. Her photograph has ink thin
braids and buttoned clothes, and nothing that she was called describes what her grandmother looks
like, she says her grandmother has ink thin braids and she wears buttoned clothes, this gives us
something to imagine. One peppered, flaming autumn is another imagery, this sentence describes the
autumn that her grandfather go to find her grandmother. I have touched his boots and moustache is
also an imagery because the sentence gives us a sense of touch. She says she have touched the boots
and moustache means that she has some connections with her ancestors.
Literary devices are used in the poem. For example, I have guarded my name as people in other times
kept their own clipped hair, believing the soul could be scattered if they were careless uses

Human Rights Violations in China
Human rights violation in China
The People s Republic of China with a population 1.3 billion, is the third largest country in the world
and has a land size of 960,000 square kilometres. It is a rapidly growing economy, with living
standards being raised every year. However, human rights violations are still a part of daily life in
some part of China and can still be seen in the present time. The most controversial issues include
discrimination, right to live and not to be subject to torture, freedom of religion, opinion, to fair public

were launched to preserve and enforces rights of women and rural residents in political, economic,
culture and family life, though no improvement was done by the government.
The freedom of religion is also violated. This is evident when China prohibits all religious activities
outside establishments registered; only four religions which are Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity and
Islum, are permitted for people to practise and contents are monitored and sometimes modified. The
government has endeavoured to eliminate many types of new religious group, including Falun Gong.
Falun gong has been banned since 1999; security forces kidnap and arrest thousands of Falun Gong
leaders, approximately 3000 practitioners were tortured to death and 6000 was sent to prison(Human

Tiananmen student uprising. The governments do not approve of religious performance, so people
would not share ideas that are not beneficial to obedience under a communist regime.
There is also no freedom of speech in China. Authors of the criticizing articles about China were

2. Increase Your Earnest Money
I would state that 80%, or better, of all the Twin Cities house buyers I have consulted with, had no
concept what earnest money was when it arrived time to develop an offer. It s one of those things that
doesn t get spoken about a whole heck of a lot, I presume. The earnest money amount in an offer may
be a very subtle but effective piece in the multiple offer strategies challenge. Normally, earnest money
is in between 1 2% of the total purchasing price. On a $250,000 investment, earnest money would
normally be anywhere between $2,500 $ 4,000 in a standard realty market. The twin cities house
Buyer only pays the Seller the earnest money right after their offer is agreed to. If you withdraw or the
deal flops for a reason not protected by contingencies, the seller can retain that money. You won t pay
it unless your offer is accepted, but you ll tell the seller how much money you want to pay as a
component of your offer. Make sense? The strategy is to spend a little more earnest money to prove to
the homeowner just how much you enjoy their house and win the offer. On that same $250,000
purchase you may decide to pay $6,000 or $7,000 in earnest funds. Ultimately, if you do wind up
purchasing the home, that cash will either be applied to your down payment or your closing expenses;
consider it a little down payment for your new house. Often it boils down to just a few thousand
dollars to gain

Why I m Considering Becoming a Mechanical Engineer Essay
Finding out how and why things work and discovering how products are made has always my passion.
I regularly watch engineering and science shows on the television. From my childhood, I have always
been a very curious person who would not believe just because someone told me, but I had to know
the reason behind it. Science always fascinated me, and I always wondered how we remained on the
ground and never fell off something that is spherical. In school I was more interested in maths and
science rather than History or Arts and this made me choose Chemistry, maths and physics as my

High School Dropout Rates
The APA is the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United
States, with a mission to advance the creation, communication, and application of psychological
knowledge to benefit society and improve people s lives. For these reasons, it is not surprising that the
American Psychological Association published an article in May of 2013, bringing to light the impact
of family and community poverty on high school dropouts (Rumberger, 2013). According to the APA,
an estimated 1.1 million individuals did not earn a high school diploma in 2012, and unfortunately the
drop out and the drop out s family are not the only ones affected, but the decision to drop out can also
affect all of society as well. With lasting consequences, even after earning a GED, it is safe to say that
something must be done to reduce the current dropout rate of approximately 7,000 people per day.
Why might not earning a high school diploma be such a big problem? To start, compared to high
school graduates, they are less likely to find a job and earn a living wage (Rumberger, 2013). It might
be necessary for a dropout to take advantage of public assistance ... Show more content on

Economic hardship may not only cause a great deal of stress for a high school dropout, but conditions
such as homelessness and hunger could also affect that dropout s children. The APA suggests that poor
students were five times more likely to drop out of high school than high income students (Rumberger,
2013). Poor students may become very uninterested in their education if they do not have a place to
call home and they may even be unable to learn on an empty stomach, which could result in another
individual dropping out of school. The young students could also find it necessary to search for
employment in order to contribute to the home. It seems that dropping out may be a vicious cycle that

Analysis Of Joseph J. Ellis s The Long Run
Intro: Joseph J. Ellis starts out by stating in his preface that the American Revolution was both
necessary and inevitable. The Revolution has been described as something that was already
preordained, that, with the direction things had been headed in, the Revolution was bound to occur.
With the size and power of the British army and navy, the rebellious disrupters in America should
have been knocked down almost immediately, by logic s rules. Adjacent to this lies Ellis statement
that, in the long run, the evolution of an independent American nation, gradually developing its
political and economic strength over the nineteenth century...was probably inevitable (5). While the
inevitability of America s evolution was to happen under British constraints, Ellis argument is that this
was not the way history happened. His thesis argues that America s success was not a result that could
be clearly predicted, that the advancement of America as its own entity was not like how it is seen as
today. Ellis then splits off into talking about how we need to be both farsighted and nearsighted in
order to truly see America s growth for what it is and has been. On the farsighted side, Ellis talks
about how the isolation of North America and its large reserves of natural resources would have given
America much potential to develop on its own. According to Ellis, if America could survive together
for the first few stages of its development and then push through the British desire for control,

The Invention of Television and Its Effects on Society
People in today s society live a daily life that a basic person could map out. They go to work, come
home and make dinner, and sit down and watch some television. For kids it would be to come home
from school, and watch television. Television has become a major power in our culture. It is our way
to watch the news, hear the weather forecast, and to sit down and relax watching our favorite show or
movie. But is the television really that good for our society? In 1884 the first ideas of the television
came to an inventor by the name of Paul Nipkow. It was called the scanning disk and was patented by
him in 1884. It worked by having a large disk spin in front of an object, while the photoelectric cell
that worked it would take in the changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to a battle between the powers for the patent on the television. Farnsworth knew that he
couldn t license his own inventions at the time because the patent war was in court. Farnsworth
himself couldn t even keep his own working area stable. During the patent battle he fired his fellow
lab workers and rehired them many times. This was due not only to financial troubles, but of his lack
of confidence in his control in the company.
RCA in the meantime had begun their investment in the idea of the television. Before 1939 the Radio
Corporation of America had dumped over ten million dollars into the development of the television.
At the 1939 World s Fair in New York, Sarnoff spoke on behalf of RCA and said that they would
launch commercial television. This was an understatement for the time though as the Radio
Corporation of America s camera was not yet ready, and the corporation had yet to own a patent on the
television. RCA later in 1939 had to pay patent royalties to Farnsworth s company, which made
Farnsworth part of the television scene. But Farnsworth now realized that the situation was out of his
hands and into businessmen s hands. He sold off his company after World War II.
In today s world television has taken a very dominant role in our lives. One could look at the average
American s viewing habits as follows. A person wakes up and turns on the television to see the
morning weather and how their stocks fared. The individual proceeds to go to work,

standardize these methods for data packets transfers by implementing a set of rules and regulations
called IEEE 802 standards. Consequently, these standards help the industry by providing advantages
such as low product cost, interoperability, and easy to manage standards, divided into many parts.
Interestingly, these standard parts include everything from cabling to network standards. Of note,

The Colosseum used multiple examples of ancient architecture techniques. The first floor carried

those of IB, and sell recommendations underperformed. Lin et al. (2005) examined time patterns

these papers helped shed light on an important topic there were holes within their analysis. Clarke et

the time of recommendation issuance. Additionally, a 250 day holding period was used for all

Spiderman s Web Essay
Spiderman s web Jeffrey Lewis Spiderman man webs first appear at 00:45:00 when he creates a
mechanism capable of shooting them. Throughout the movie he uses the webs for various tasks from
moving around the city to stopping cars from plummeting of a bridge. Presuming that a high school
child has the ability to create such a device would the web still have a high enough tensile strength to
support the falling vehicles seen in scene 1:11:00? In this scene we see the lizard throw cars off a
bridge and Spiderman subsequently catching the cars to save the lives of the various people. During
the movie the web is said to be a biocable of un paralleled strength but for our purposes we will
choose to ignore this and assume that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are only 3 substances that could be considered, namely; graphene, carbon nanotube and boron
nitride nanotube. The tensile strengths are 130 000Mpa, 33 000Mpa and 11 000 63 000Mpa
respectively. Graphene is a 2 dimensional carbon allotrope. It is flexible and can take on a variety of
shapes meaning that it could theoretically be wound into a cylindrical line (web) making it possible
for this material to be used in the catching of the car. Graphene also stretches up to twenty percent
meaning that the car could bounce rather than stopping as soon as it did in the movie. However it also
shatters, because it is fairly brittle. Boron nitride nanotube is formed from graphene and has very
similar properties also making it suitable except for the fact it possibly shatters being brittle. Carbon
nanotube is again very similar to graphene but also more flexible possibly making it the best material
for Spiderman s web although it may not necessarily stop the car from bouncing as quickly as in the

Legislation and the Teaching Occupation Essay
Legislation and the Teaching Occupation
Legislation affects all aspects of the educational environment. Legislation controls teaching
credentials, funds allotted for teaching supplies, general public school operation, and curriculum. In
turn, the educational environment affects the capabilities of a teacher. Senators and assembly members
have made numerous amendments over time to the laws that they have created. Such changes greatly
shape the abilities of teachers to teach their students.
Teachers must first obtain teaching credentials that relate within their field of experience. Legislation
deals with the procedures that teacher candidates must pass in order to receive their credentials. When
these teacher candidates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sparkman and Campbell define teaching certificates in their report called Teacher Certification, which
is a part of an anthology called The Principal s Legal Handbook. Sparkman and Campbell provide an
overview of the process of obtaining credentials. They explain about the state s authority over the
teacher certificate, the issues regarding employment for a school board, and any process that may be
taken to revoke a teacher certificate.
There are several legislation that relate with obtaining teacher credentials. According to AB 1282,
students enrolled in grades K 12 depend highly on the competency of their teachers. Assembly
Member Jackson required an increase in the amount of test taking sites and times for teachers to take
their basic skills test, which evaluates their abilities. On October 6, 1999, Governor Grey Davis
approved this bill and now enforces the requirements for mandatory teacher testing. This law also
requires that teacher applicants be enrolled in an approved credential program before receiving their
teaching credentials.
The section called Teacher Credentials and Assignments from Proposition 8: Public Schools is similar
to AB 1282. This segment contains reports about the new subject matter exams that teacher candidates
must pass before receiving any credentials. This report also talks about background

Role Of Theatre And Musical Theatre
Theatre and Musical Theatre has been a form of entertainment since before North America was
discovered . Broadway shows have been dated back to the early 1920 s and 1930 s. By 2016, over
25,000 tickets are sold to Broadway shows in a week. Thousands of people enjoy the shows that are
featured on Broadway but have no idea the work and process that brought it to life. The process of
getting a show on to Broadway can be broken down into three phases: pre production, staging, and
performance/promotion. The first stage of a show is pre production. Every show starts as merely an
idea. This idea can come from all kinds of sources. In the beginning, Broadway shows started one of
two ways; a producer who hired a creative team or a creative team who found a creative team to back
it. Nowadays, it is increasingly getting harder for songwriters, lyricists, etc. to get a show produced.
Contrary to popular belief, many writers send in just an idea and a brief excerpt when trying to get
produced. Hundreds of wannabe writers send their ideas to producers only to get a rejection letter.
Many composers don t fully commit to finishing writing a show until a producer has committed. As
American composer and songwriter, Cole Porter once said, My sole inspiration is a telephone call
from a director. Whether it be an idea from a producer, a creative team, or an unknown writer, there is
no show without serious commitment from a producer. After a show has been finished and has found a
producer, it

  • 2. Endosymbiosis and evolution of Organelles Essay Endosymbiosis is important as it enables us to understand the evolution of eukaryotes from the common ancestor. This essay will focus on: the early evolution of our eukaryote ancestor during Precambrian period, plastids origin along the algae family due to second endosymbiosis; discuss the evidence that supports the theory, including further examples of endosymbiosis. The theory, as discussed by Lynn Margulis, states that mitochondria originated from α proteobacteria bacterium which was engulfed by the ancestral anaerobic eukaryotic cell, through endocytosis, and retained within the cytoplasm due to atmospheric oxygen increase. Prokaryote organism produced ATP, through oxidative phosphorylation, by receiving organic compounds from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They all have a double membrane chloroplasts, but the glaucophytes plastid morphology is unusual because it resembles cyanobacteria, as they still include the outer peptidoglycan layer between the chloroplast envelopes, and also resemble Chlorophyta and Rhodophyta plastid. Both Rhodophyta and Glaucophyta consist of various features that are derived from the cyanobacteria but absent from Chlorophyta. These are phycobilins pigments and phycobilisomes on the surface on thylakoid membranes. Because of sequencing algae chloroplast genomes it is evident that glaucophytes, rhodophytes and chlorophytes have evolved from a second endosymbiotic event, since they are closely related to the ancestral cyanobacteria (Tomitani, 2006). Alternatively, some algal groups have chloroplast with more than a double membrane, such as photosynthetic dinoflagellates and stramenophile, implying that secondary endosymbiosis occurred due to heterotrophic eukaryote engulfing chloroplast containing eukaryote. The secondary endosymbiosis event is suggested as nucleomorphs , traces of primary host s nucleus, are present in the periplastid space between the second and third chloroplast membranes of cryptomonads and chlorarachniophytes. In the cryptomonads the nucleomorphs is formed due to the reduction of red algal nucleus and in the chlorarachniophytes due to the reduction of green algal nucleus. Thus, plants had multiple endosymbiotic events and each evolved independently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Life Lessons In This Is Water By David Foster Wallace Many people are self centered, it s part of who they are. This is seen every day in the modern world, a lot of people only care about themselves. David Foster Wallace is an author of many short stories. This is Water is arguably the best and strongest story he has ever written. This is Water was a commencement speech given at Kenyon College. This speech/short story, whatever you want to call it, provides many examples as to how life is not perceived as it should be. This is Water by David Foster Wallace is a short story that provides many life lessons. Lessons, for example, the world does not spin around yourself. Also, it educates the lesson that you should not live as though your fate is already chosen. Go for broke if there is a chance to affect your life emphatically. Additionally, if not for the sacrifices of numerous people, we would not have similar freedoms that we live within our day to say life. Ultimately, life isn t an assurance, you should know, know that things happen, great and terrible, yet it s the way you respond that influences your life to all around lived. David Foster Wallaces first lesson in his short story, in which he gets to the point that th world does not revolve around you is supported by a couple of quotes that he uses. He says, everything he experiences supports his deep belief that the world revolves around him, he is the most important person in existence. It is almost like everything that happens in his world, happens around him. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people are beginning to become more involved in a plethora of projects near their neighborhoods, and by doing so are giving scientist more data that can hopefully create change and have an effect on their ongoing projects. In 1990, in a Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, this act was given a name (Haven, Henderson 1). Cohn, author of the Oxford Journal article Citizen Science: Can Volunteers Do Real Research? says that data collected by individuals can be trusted if we [professionals] explain to them [individuals] what they should be doing and how to do it then the data s reliability isn t questioned (3). This further supports my opinion that the data collected from many individuals can be trusted to be valid. By being a participant of this project, I have noticed how many plants are very common in Los Angeles. An example of this is that many Angelinos have cacti s as plants either for decoration or as part of their gardens. This is important because it shows that many people are conscious of the water crisis we are currently experiencing in Los Angeles by having cacti as their choice of plant. Also, many hospitals in the area highlighted seem to use the same flora like the Bird of Paradise flower. Therefore, by gathering data we are not only helping researchers fulfill their projects but actively getting individuals to learn more about their community and what flora and fauna are most common in certain areas, and be conscious of what they can do to help wildlife that are dwindling in the area survive, and hopefully not become ... In phase 1 the team started researching causes and methods to prevent infections, a process that set them to the right path by gathering valuable information to be used at later stage. During the second phase the team was able to capture trends and identify parameters to the solution by formulating knowledge captured in the first phase. Hereby then the team had a vision and successfully identified their needs to develop a breakthrough product. Setting out to identify lead users, the team s interaction proved successful by intuitively tapping markets that correlated their interests and their needs, for instance collaborated with make up artists who are experts in applying skin materials that do not irritate and are easy to remove. Some schools in the Omaha area and across the country aren t ready to place the books on their shelves because of references to witchcraft and sorcery. Our mission is to raise children up to be Christians and to be strong men and women of Christ, said Vic Fordyce, an English teacher at Omaha Christian Academy. The books didn t match up with Christian values. The school, which has about 350 students in grades K 12, decided against selling the books at its book fair earlier this month and has no plans to buy them for classrooms or the library, Fordyce said. • 8. Fundamental Principles of Duct System or Air Distribution... CHAPTER 3 METHODOLOGY This project work is gives the fundamental principles of duct system or air distribution system design for multi story building. There are mainly three type of duct sizing method namely equal friction method, modified friction method (static regain method) and velocity reduction method. In present day the use of manual duct calculator is normal and computer aided duct design is becoming more popular. Also to learn the friction chart is very important to use this manual duct calculator because these are the foundation of the other method. This will provide the necessary knowledge to duct design error and overcome to these error. For designing the proper duct system requires load estimation which is used to selecting the zone and air flow rate that the duct system distributes. Ones the air flow rate is has been determined, the duct system component can be placed. This includes the supply and returns diffusers and decides to air handling unit (AHU) or fan coil unit (FCU) is good for that space. 3.1. 3.2. The top three take aways from this program that I feel can be utilized in any career path include the knowledge I gained on how to conduct and present action research, the writing skillset I developed which aided me in becoming a better writer, and the training I received on how to be an effective leader. The fact that students would be allowed to work with people from different backgrounds and with different personality types to complete a project would equate with real world experience. The opportunity to work with people is why the practicum is such a valuable experience. However, one cannot carefully evaluate the practicum for this program without a brief discussion about mentors. Murder, Manslaughter, And Justifiable Homicide In the United States the degrees by which a person can be charged with killing another person vary; the degrees of murder include first, second, and third degree murder, the definitions of which can vary in legal terms from state to state. These charges are considered to be legally separate from voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, and justifiable homicide which each have their own definitions (Cole, Smith, DeJong, 2014). Each type of murder, manslaughter and homicide is determined by intent and negligible behavior and each will be examined in this paper (Cole et al., 2014). Murder First Degree Murder Murder has not always been defined by degrees by which the act took place, before the separation began, murder of any type was a capital offense punishable by death. The state of Pennsylvania in 1793 was the first state to legally distinguish different degrees of murder, possibly to reduce the amount of murders that resulted in capital punishment (Levinson, 2002). In most states today, first degree murder is commonly defined as the unlawful, willing, and premeditated murder of another human being committed with malice aforethought, which is used to indicate a person intended to kill another person (Berman, n.d.). All states approach murder charges with variations on the same basic principle, intent. Second Degree Murder Like all degrees of murder, second degree murder varies from state to state however in general terms it is referred to as the unlawful killing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the world running out of resources and struggling to sustain the recent boom in world population, governments around the world have been responding by trying to curb population growth with population programmes. Fertility Transition is a process whereby a country changes from a high birth rate to lower birth rate and is measured in terms of number of live births per 1000 women. This process usually occurs when a country is developing. Countries which are undergoing fertility transition in recent years have undergone a much more rapid transformation than when the present day developed economies underwent transition a couple hundred years ago. High fertility is often associated with poverty as there is a lack of education, healthcare and lack of sustainability within a country. The reasons which cause a country to experience fertility transition include; the changing of economy structure or economic growth, investment in education and the provision/subsidisation of contraception. Cuba is a government planned economy with poor economic prospects and a low fertility rate of 1.46 in 2014, down from 4.6% in 1963. Muller, 1914) about 350million years ago in reptile like ancestors (Charlesworth, 1991; Graves, 1995). Environmental factor like temperature determines sex in some species e.g. crocodiles and turtles (Bull et al, 1975). In humans, there are 22 pairs of chromosomes called the Autosomes and one pair of sex chromosome (X Y) which makes a total of 23pairs of chromosomes. These 23pairs (46) chromosomes are contributed by female and male gamete. Females have 22pairs of autosomes and one sex chromosome (X) while males have Y sex chromosome in addition to the 22pairs of autosomes. This means that, the Y chromosome can only be inherited paternally (Lahn Page, 1999). The X chromosome is about a 165mega base in size and contains about 1000 functional genes (Ross et al, 2005) while Y chromosome is about 65mega base in size with about 178genes (Skalestsky et al; 2003).The Mammalian Y chromosome contains 86 genes which code for specific proteins with peculiar functions in sex fertility (Lahn Page, 1997). The Y chromosome is the most evolving part of the human and chimpanzee genome. • 31. High School Dropout Rates The APA is the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with a mission to advance the creation, communication, and application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people s lives. For these reasons, it is not surprising that the American Psychological Association published an article in May of 2013, bringing to light the impact of family and community poverty on high school dropouts (Rumberger, 2013). According to the APA, an estimated 1.1 million individuals did not earn a high school diploma in 2012, and unfortunately the drop out and the drop out s family are not the only ones affected, but the decision to drop out can also affect all of society as well. With lasting consequences, even after earning a GED, it is safe to say that something must be done to reduce the current dropout rate of approximately 7,000 people per day. Why might not earning a high school diploma be such a big problem? To start, compared to high school graduates, they are less likely to find a job and earn a living wage (Rumberger, 2013). Poor students may become very uninterested in their education if they do not have a place to call home and they may even be unable to learn on an empty stomach, which could result in another individual dropping out of school. • 33. Analysis Of Joseph J. Ellis s The Long Run Intro: Joseph J. Ellis starts out by stating in his preface that the American Revolution was both necessary and inevitable. The Revolution has been described as something that was already preordained, that, with the direction things had been headed in, the Revolution was bound to occur. With the size and power of the British army and navy, the rebellious disrupters in America should have been knocked down almost immediately, by logic s rules. Adjacent to this lies Ellis statement that, in the long run, the evolution of an independent American nation, gradually developing its political and economic strength over the nineteenth century...was probably inevitable (5). While the inevitability of America s evolution was to happen under British constraints, Ellis argument is that this was not the way history happened. His thesis argues that America s success was not a result that could be clearly predicted, that the advancement of America as its own entity was not like how it is seen as today. Ellis then splits off into talking about how we need to be both farsighted and nearsighted in order to truly see America s growth for what it is and has been. On the farsighted side, Ellis talks about how the isolation of North America and its large reserves of natural resources would have given America much potential to develop on its own. According to Ellis, if America could survive together for the first few stages of its development and then push through the British desire for control, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Invention of Television and Its Effects on Society People in today s society live a daily life that a basic person could map out. They go to work, come home and make dinner, and sit down and watch some television. For kids it would be to come home from school, and watch television. Television has become a major power in our culture. It is our way to watch the news, hear the weather forecast, and to sit down and relax watching our favorite show or movie. But is the television really that good for our society? In 1884 the first ideas of the television came to an inventor by the name of Paul Nipkow. It was called the scanning disk and was patented by him in 1884. It worked by having a large disk spin in front of an object, while the photoelectric cell that worked it would take in the changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This led to a battle between the powers for the patent on the television. Farnsworth knew that he couldn t license his own inventions at the time because the patent war was in court. Farnsworth himself couldn t even keep his own working area stable. During the patent battle he fired his fellow lab workers and rehired them many times. This was due not only to financial troubles, but of his lack of confidence in his control in the company. RCA in the meantime had begun their investment in the idea of the television. Before 1939 the Radio Corporation of America had dumped over ten million dollars into the development of the television. At the 1939 World s Fair in New York, Sarnoff spoke on behalf of RCA and said that they would launch commercial television. This was an understatement for the time though as the Radio Corporation of America s camera was not yet ready, and the corporation had yet to own a patent on the television. RCA later in 1939 had to pay patent royalties to Farnsworth s company, which made Farnsworth part of the television scene. But Farnsworth now realized that the situation was out of his hands and into businessmen s hands. He sold off his company after World War II. Broadway shows have been dated back to the early 1920 s and 1930 s. By 2016, over 25,000 tickets are sold to Broadway shows in a week. Thousands of people enjoy the shows that are featured on Broadway but have no idea the work and process that brought it to life. The process of getting a show on to Broadway can be broken down into three phases: pre production, staging, and performance/promotion. The first stage of a show is pre production. Every show starts as merely an idea. This idea can come from all kinds of sources. In the beginning, Broadway shows started one of two ways; a producer who hired a creative team or a creative team who found a creative team to back it.
