Asynchronous Transfer Mode for Transmitting Information Essay
ATM is called Asynchronous Transfer Mode. ATM is a networking technology which transmits
information in the form fixed cells. The main vision behind designing ATM was integration of
services and performance requirements of both telephony and data networking which was shortly
called Broadband Integrated Service Vision (B ISDN). This cell relay protocol was designed by ATM
forum and was universally adopted by ITU T. Usually the size of the fixed cells is about 53 bytes with
5 bytes for header and 48 bytes payload. When compared to the cell sizes used in the previous
technologies, the size of an ATM is small. The smaller size of the ATM cells gives us a major
advantage. ATM enables us to transmit video, audio and data over the same network ... Show more

This should be done without any degradation in the performance or without requiring any
replacement. 3. The design must be implemented in a less expensive method. In case the ATM
becomes the backbone of the international communications the cost of implementing it should not be a
major barrier. 4. The proposed system must ensure accurate and predictable delivery. This is possible
only if ATM is a Connection Oriented system. 5. The major objective of ATM was to move most of
the functionalities to the hardware side and have comparatively less functionalities in the software.
This will ensure higher speed in the delivery of packets. It is clear from the above points that the
major goal of ATM was to ensure guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS). To ensure this various service
classes were defined by the ATM forum like Constant Bit Rate, Real time Variable Bit Rate, Non Real
time Variable Bit Rate, Unspecified Bit Rate, Available Bit Rate. ARCHITECTURE OF ATM
NETWORKS The ATM is a cell switched network as discussed previously. There are two important
interfaces which acts as a backbone to the whole architecture of ATM. The first is Network to Network
interface (NNI) and the other is the User to Network interface (UNI). The User to Network interface is
used to connect the User access devices or the end points to the switches, while the Network to
Network interface is used to connect various switches. The connection between two end

Western Techniques In The Searchers
Foreword: It should be noted that while this written piece compares and contrasts The Searchers to the
concept of the stereotypical Western film , the film would most certainly have shaped the mould for
what the stereotypical western was to become. Being one of the largest early Western films to release,
the film s once relatively unique storyline and thematic content have become subject to being
replicated in more recent Western films. Therefore, when comparing the film to the now conventional
Western, it should serve moreso as a critique of the unoriginality of those that contributed to the genre
following The Searchers release.
Introduction
For what is arguably the most successful film to emerge from his long spanning career, film director
John Ford s The Searchers has certainly earned its place as one of the greatest western films of all time
. However, while the film is certainly a staple among other classic 1950s productions, the genre of
Western film does not carry nearly as much weight as it once did over half a century ago. In recent
decades, the genre has grown stale among audiences due to more recent additions, composing of
tedious storylines, repetitive run of the mill characters, and as a whole becoming incongruous with the
evolved social climate which pursues racial equality in the United States. Being grouped with this
genre, The Searchers is often overlooked by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Set in 1868 three years after Civil War ended, the film introduced a complex narrative entailing

performance in the box office both domestically and internationally. However, the themes and events

organisation s strategy and ways HR support line managers and their staff.
The HR Function is in a position to add value by proper formulation and implementations of the
following activities and in turn support the organisation strategy.
Recruitment and Selection
Recruiting the wrong people can lead to a drop in productivity, lack of commitment, low morale, and
rapid staff turnover, all of which can impact heavily on the bottom line. The Chartered Institute for
Personnel and Development (CIPD) puts the cost of recruiting the wrong person at 2.5 times their

American Directness and the Japanese Essay
American Directness and the Japanese
American and Japanese ways of speaking are so different that they often cause culture shock to both
Americans and Japanese who visit each other s country. Most Japanese who come to the United States
are at first shocked and have a problem with the American direct way of speaking.
Culture shock occurs because most Japanese cannot easily escape from the formula politeness=
indirectness. Compared to the American way of speaking, Japanese speak much more indirectly.
Directness is considered a form of impoliteness in Japan. Therefore, when we want to be polite, we
speak and act very indirectly. For example, we seldom say, I ll go to a bathroom, except when we are
with close friends. Usually, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Japanese are shocked by American unreserved behavior because the American way of speech is very
direct. They do not hesitate to express what they want since directness is honesty for them. They will
say, I m hungry. Why don t we go and eat something? Japanese are surprised to see Americans in the
presence of guests say, I m hungry or Can I have another glass of juice? On the other hand, we can
easily understand what they want.
At the same time, Japanese are shocked because their way of being polite no longer holds good in the
United States. If we answer, Uh..., yes. I m hungry but only a little, our host or hostess may postpone
the meal. Later, Americans around me might notice my stomach rumbling and wonder why I did not
tell the truth.
Similarly, Japanese may be surprised to hear Americans say No often because Japanese tend not to say
No. We usually express our reluctance to accept an offer by subtle facial and verbal expressions
because we want to avoid making people feel bad by refusing directly. For instance, a Japanese
student studying might say, Um..., yes, when asked by an American roommate if he may turn on the
TV. Whereas the Japanese student thinks his expression, Um, fairly expresses his intention of

The Incredibles Film Analysis
Have you ever wondered what your family would be like with superhuman powers? The ability to go
beyond the standards of most is an amazing trait. Although, knowing your genetics are surging with an

thought closer to reality in a civil animated, family, action, comedy title. The Incredibles is about a
seemingly simple modern day family. This family is one of few to have incredible superpowers. The
dad known as Mr. Incredible has always been a crime fighter. During his early years he is approached

Interracial Dating and Marriage
Interracial dating and marriage is a very touchy subject. Society today and in the past has always
discriminated against interracial intimate interaction; and this is not limited to the United States.
Today, interracial dating and marriage is beginning to be accepted simply because love triumphs all.
However, there are still a vast amount of people, communities, and ethnic groups that oppose intimate
interracial interaction. They believe that such intimate relationships between two different races
should never be developed or maintained. So the real question is, will love be enough to break the
barrier and change the minds of those who oppose interracial marriage? ... Show more content on

Interracial dating and marriage is a highly controversial topic among the Indian community. In the
eyes of most Indians interracial mingling is not acceptable under any circumstances. To be frank, they
abhor the thought of their children or fellow Indians dating or even marrying people from other races.
Now the big question is why? Why do Indians detest interracial dating and marriage? The answer to
this question is not a simple one. For each person it may be a different answer. But the most prominent
answer you will receive is that there is a vast cultural difference between races. Indians pride
themselves with their culture; it s what makes each Indian who he or she is. So if you try and break
that culture you will face issues from all around. Most Indians who marry people of other ethnicities
face problems from not only other Indians within their community, but also their own family
members. Sadly sometimes the answer to the question, will love be enough to break the barrier, is a
no. You would think that even if society, your community, and friends oppose you, your family would
support you. Sadly that s not the case in most Indian families. Instead of showing love, compassion,
and understanding they are ridiculed and mocked; and all for what? For loving someone outside their
race? Some families go as far as to disown their children, nieces/nephews, uncles/aunts, and

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Prostate Cancer
In the early stages, symptoms indicating that prostate cancer may have developed are rarely seen, but
there are some clinical signs and symptoms that can help determine the presence of this cancer. A
neoplasm is a new and abnormal growth of tissue in some part of the body. If the neoplasm is large
enough to encroach on the bladder neck, signs and symptoms of urinary obstruction occur (difficulty
and frequency of urination, urinary retention, and decreased size and force of the urinary stream)
(Pellico, 2013, p. 956). Urinary obstruction could, therefore, potentially indicate prostate cancer.
Another symptom that may be present in the early stages of prostate cancer is hematuria, which is
blood in urine. As the cancer begins to grow, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The level of PSA in the blood is proportional to the total prostatic mass and does not necessarily
indicate malignancy (Pellico, 2013, p. 956). However, if an individual has abnormally high levels of
PSA in the body, it could indicate that the individual has prostate cancer (Pellico, 2013).
The treatment of prostate cancer depends on the stage of the disease and which symptoms a patient
may be experiencing. One type of treatment used is radiation therapy. The two major forms of
radiation therapy are teletherapy and brachytherapy. Teletherapy involves almost seven weeks of
radiation therapy at a prescribed dosage. Alternatively, Brachytherapy uses radioactive seeds that are
implanted while the patient is under anesthesia. In Brachytherapy, [e]ighty to 100 seeds are placed
directly in the prostate, and the patient returns home after the procedure (Pellico, 2013, p. 957).
However, the patient should avoid close contact with infants or a woman who is, or may become
pregnant. If a patient is receiving radiation therapy, the nurse can start implementing safety procedures
to ensure the wellbeing of the patient. The nurse should also answer any questions a family member
may have about the procedure, such as equipment being used, how long the procedure may be,
potential of immobilization, and likelihood that the patient may experience pain. The nurse should
also regularly check the patient s skin, oral mucosa, nutrition status, and

An Inspector Calls
An Inspector Calls One of the main themes of JB Priestley s play An Inspector Calls is how man treats
his fellow man. An Inspector Calls was set in 1912 in an Edwardian society this was a time of great
divide between the classes. There was a lot of social unrest as the working class people where uniting
to protest for fair pay, reduced working hours, and better working conditions. The play is set in The
Birling Household during Shelia Birling and Gerald Crofts engagement party. The party comes to an
abrupt end when a unknown inspector arrives at their door with some news. The news that the
inspector has is that a girl names Eva Smith committed suicide by drinking strong disinfectant.

and do the right thing but she refused as she knew he too immature to be a father. At the end of the
play he realises his wrong and changes his way: My god I m not likely to forget This showing he feels
bad for what he did. It also shows he has learnt his lesson. Eva after falling pregnant with Eric s baby
went to a charity that helped woman in need. She was very desperate at this time and used Mrs Birling
name and a false story about her husband leaving her. Not know Mrs Birling was the head of the
panel. After hearing Eva use her name Mrs Birling took an instant disliking to her and used her power
to turn her case down pushing her over the edge. After finding out she was pregnant she told her to go
and find the father it was his responsibility not knowing it was Eric s baby. Priestley has created the
inspector to force the characters to look at their attitudes and lives; to hopefully awaken their social
conscience and make them take responsibility for their treatment of Eva Smith. I think he does this by
not making him like a character but like their conscience and by making his name Goole like Ghoul. I
don t think he succeeds as only 2 of the characters have changed their views and take repsonbitlity for
their actions where the rest have not changed they tried to sweep it under the carpet. Gerald and Mr

Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in...
Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in the United States? According to Marxist
revolutionary theory, advanced capitalism is a necessary precondition to the development of socialism.
Capitalists would ruthlessly exploit workers, accumulating capital from the workers labor but not
sharing it. This would result in the workers developing a collective class consciousness, overthrowing
their oppressors, and replacing their bourgeois government with a dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e.,
socialism. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels expected that, because the United States had the most
advanced form of capitalism in the world, it was the most likely setting for a proletarian revolution,
yet, no socialist or labor party has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Marxist theory, it should have been impossible for Russia to achieve socialism. It was
the least industrialized country in Europe, and most of its population consisted of peasants rather than
a class conscious proletarian working class. The first socialist country should have been a country like
the United States, but proletarian revolution did not occur in the United States first or ever. Over the
course of the past 110 years, historians, political scientists, and economists have all attempted to
explain why. The bulk of this historiographical essay will address Werner Sombart s 1906 assessment
of the failings of American socialism, Eric Foner s critical reinterpretation of the question from 1984,
and these works conversation with each other and other studies. German economist and sociologist
Werner Sombart agreed with the basic Marxist assertion that the development of socialism was a
necessary reaction to capitalism, and thus was most likely to occur in the United States first. When no
such thing had transpired by the first years of the twentieth century, Sombart conducted the first book
length study on the question: Warum gibt es in den Vereingten Staaten keinen Sozialismus? (Why is
there no Socialism in the United States?), published in 1906. Sombart does not offer a straightforward
answer. Rather, he examines a litany of issues which hindered the growth of

Frederick Douglass s Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick...
In the early 19th century, slavery was legal and popular in the southern states, among these slaves, one
slave in particular impacted the 19th century was Frederick Douglass. Although he was a slave for
most of his life, Douglass eventually became a freeman, a social reform, writer, and an abolitionist for
slavery. However, before he became a freeman, Douglass experienced a brutal life as a slave. He faced
dehumanization in his early life, but accomplished what most slaves we not allowed to do; which is
getting educated, by self educating himself and retaliating against the idea of slavery. Furthermore,
since he self educated himself, he was able to published the narrative, Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglas; which, Douglass shows the audience how methods such as, physical abuse,
psychological abuse, and lack of education were used to dehumanize slaves. He describes how he
resisted these methods and realized that whites who participated in slavery themselves were being
dehumanized. One of the most known and infamous way of dehumanizing slaves, was by abusing
them. The most common abuse was whipping them; however, there were others ways of punishing
them, such as, the lack of food, water, clothing and making them work long hours from the sunrise to
sun down. Some slaveholders would only whip their slave if they disobeyed them, though others did it
to make them live in fear and most for the satisfaction of it or to make fun of the slaves. This

Why Do Marine Animals Use Sign Language
Humans communicate by making sounds that are part of an entire language that can be spoken,
written, and read, using body language, and, in some cases, using sign language. Marine animals have
a slightly different approach, although they use sound to communicate as well. There are many things
that affect the messages marine animals send to each other. The main factors are the rate, pitch, and
structure of the sounds they make. Whales and dolphins can use echolocation to locate food and other
objects. Echolocation is the process in which an animal makes a sound and listens to see how long it
takes to make it be reflected back to them when it comes into contact with an object. This tells the
animals many things about the object, such as how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salinity, temperature, and the depth of the water can affect the speed of sound in the ocean. The ways
in which humans and marine animals produce sound is very different. Humans produce sound by
expelling a lot of air over their vocal chords. Dolphins and other marine animals cannot afford to
waste such precious oxygen, so they have engineered other ways to accomplish this goal. Whales and
dolphins pass air through air sacs they have in their heads to produce noises. Some fish vibrate their
swim bladders, crustaceans close their claws at high speeds to make air bubbles that pop and produce
noise, and seals and sea lions move their larynx to produce growling sounds. Humans and marine
animals also hear noises differently. Humans can hear sounds when sound waves strike our ear drums,
causing bones in our ears to vibrate. This then makes the fluid in our inner ear vibrate, and vibrates the
hair cells as well. The hairs that are vibrating are connected to neurons that lead to the auditory nerve
and sends signals to our brain. Our brain then interprets the signals into information from the sound
waves. Dolphins and whales have a different process for interpreting sound. Their lower jaw, called a
mandible, carries sound to the bones in their middle ear and from there the vibrations follow the same
path as the human hearing

Self Esteem And Its Influence On The World
Name, a title that is giving to all of us at birth. Name, our shelter. A label to our lives and what can
break or make us in life.A name can mean a reputation, passed down as a cultural necessities. You
may have the same name as a grandparent or an ancestor. Or, you may have a biblical name, or just a
made up name. We may choose to keep or change our names, as a means of shaping or possessing a
different identity. Identity, our personality, our attitude towards the world, our values, are the very
things that build and create perceptions and often judgements about us. These judgements often create
low self esteem. These very distinct ideas about us are very shockingly similar. Think about it, our
names have definitions, which to some people it s right on point with their identity. Others may not

names can be shameful and straight up dumb, people have chosen to change their names in order to

behind the names that have been taken away from the history books forever more. Over the course of

Slowly Moving Towards Legalizing Marijuana Essay
For the past ninety years, marijuana has been an enemy to drug agencies, government officials, and
presidential administrations. Smoke Signals, a book about the oppressive and beneficial history of
marijuana, is written as an effective argument while highlighting the plant in many different social
settings.
Cannabis use can be traced back to the Neolithic Period (10,200 4500 BC). Since then, nearly every
culture continued to use marijuana for personal reasons, causing information to surge throughout the
world. Some cultivate marijuana for the stems and stalk that produce cordage and cloth, while others

American culture exploited marijuana for nearly every use. People who found relief in marijuana
stood for their rights. Social gatherings like Hempfest promoted marijuana law reform when
thousands of people gathered and enjoyed themselves in the company of other marijuana users. In
retaliation, the iron fist of different drug czars, presidents, and the authorities ruled anyone who had
ties to marijuana. They enforced a zero tolerance policy in America while other countries approached
marijuana with a different strategy.
Instead of moving towards prohibition, countries like the Netherlands, Canada, and Israel, worked
towards decriminalization the policy that removes the marijuana smoker from the criminal justice
system. Many countries found consistent evidence that marijuana benefitted patients with terminal

The s Stone, By J.k Rowling
In, J.K Rowling s Philosopher s Stone there are a number of references to ancient mythologies. The
events, characters and creatures in the story are not purely fictional, most of them relate to ancient
mythology embedded in different cultures. According to Joseph Campbell, American mythologist,
when people think of mythology, they usually correlate it with Greek mythology. This is illustrated
through examples such as the dog Fluffy, the Philosopher s stone, magic numbers three and seven, and
also its characters, like Harry Potter, Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Hermione. According to Campbell,
myths provide direction, teaching young people about their own life and culture. To do so J.K.
Rowling s novel Philosopher s Stone, rewrites modern versions of ancient myths, therefore they
provide relatable guidance and teach young readers about their lives. The novel fulfils this need by
providing engaging action and supernatural events.
In Greek mythology a hero is usually born of a human woman and a god. Harry s mother was a
muggler (an ordinary person who is not a wizard) and his father was a wizard. The hero in Greek
myths fights monsters. Harry s ultimate quest is to fight Voldemort, the monster of the story. A hero is
known to be worshipped by any ordinary audience, and therefore Harry is known to be famous to all
as soon as he arrives at Hogwarts because of his tie to Voldemort. Harry is known as the boy who

both views to a situation. Shows like these are appearing online nowadays such as one called The

The Impact Of Colonial Culture On America
The United States is a nation that starts with the colony, and the formation of American culture is
closely related to the colony. People who came to this fertile land of North America with their cultural
traditions, which created the unique colonial culture of the United States. However, the colonial
culture also has lots of impacts on the United States society. Meanwhile, it changed the inherent way
of life to a certain extent, and it also created a special culture that was the one and only the United
States colonial culture. The main emphasis of America early history is to seek of democracy and
freedom, advocate the development of competition, pay attention to the rational and practical, and
emphasize the value of individuals.
The discovery of America is an important symbol because it brings a new life to the United States.
Before the new world was discovered, The earliest people on the American continent were Indians,
who lived by hunting, fishing, and herding [1]. On August 3, 1492, Christopher Columbus sent by the
king of Spain from the Atlantic. After 70 days and nights of the hard sailing, a new land was
discovered on October 12, 1492 [2]. Columbus s voyage was a major event in history because he
opened a new world for Europeans and spread Western civilization to the new world. After Columbus
s discovery, Spain claimed to have the territory of American. They plundered the wealth from the
Indians and established the new kingdoms. In 1497, another Italy navigator,

Should Kids Be Allowed To Particepate In Extreme Sports
Children can be imaginative through particepation in extreme sports. Thus, such activities can allow
children to learn from their creative ideas. In other words, kids should be allowed to particepate in

Extreme Sports? by Lauren Tarshis, it states, extreme sports can build confidence and disicipline, and
like any sport, help kids stay fit and healthy . This shows that exteme sports can help build self
confidence in kids, while keeping them in shape. In other words, growth of self confidence will lead to
higher motivation to continue participating in exteme sports, which would lead to a strong and healthy

The Main Goal Of Taking Me299 Course
Introduction The main goal of taking ME299 course is to learn the requirements and achieving the
knowledge of needed acknowledgement to fulfill the final thesis (ME500). Actually, as a mechanical
engineer I should be able to handle and manage related electronic and computer sections in
conjunction with mechanical project. For the final thesis, I will design a prototyped soil sample
collector vehicle. This vehicle would be able to be controlled remotely. In much simple words, the
vehicle moves to a defined place in distance, collects little of sampled soil (Probably, it would be sand

There are many different types of Arduino like Uno, Yun, and Mega. Arduino Uno is chosen to be the
drive the brain of the robot (Fig1). Dinner is served was the blog title announcing on September 25,
2010, the arrival of thee Arduino Uno (meaning one in Italian), and it s the bigger brother Mega2560.
The Arduino Uno is pin compatible with previous Arduinos, including the Duemilanove and its
predecessor the Diecimila. Figure 1 Arduino UNO The major difference between the Uno and its
predecessors is the inclusion of an ATmega8U2 microcontroller programmed as a USB to serial
converter, replacing the ageing FTDI chipset used by previous versions. The ATmega8U2 can be
reprogrammed to make the Arduino look like another USB device, such as a mouse, keyboard, or
joystick. Another difference is that it has a more reliable onboard 3.3 volts, which helps with the
stability of some shields that have caused problems in the past. The Uno is a good all purpose Arduino
and is the best bet for a starter board with its auto switching

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Music Vs. Grease

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Music by Jatin Lalit, Lalit Pandin vs Grease
Musical Score: Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey
Bollywood took the world by storm several years ago. Among the most viewed theater releases to
date, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge struck a fancy with many movie goers as a feel good feature
enticing them to Come...fall in love . Musically, Dilwale contains a nearly wall to wall score with
purposely written lyrics to help relay the story. Following the subtitles proved a bit daunting and the
lyrics did not always seem to fit with the musical notation, but there was definite expertise in moving
the story along with each number. Moreover, the cinematography allowed for indulgence in panoramic

Their brief two month encounter resulted in the same arousal of young love that ended when the
school bells beckoned. But, such as their counterparts in Dilwale, Sandy and Danny magically found
their way back to each other and the film allowed us to experience their journey with more of the same
type of buoyant, spirited music and dance as in the aforementioned film. Again, a nearly wall to wall
score included some original hits from the 50s helping to set the scene, as well as melodies written
especially for the movie in the same style, all of which helped to tell the story over the course of a
school year. Much to my bewilderment, when viewing Grease I found that the songs were also lip
synced and though the actual stars did their own singing, it too suffered in the technical department
plus the dancing fell short just as in Dilwale, without much syncopation between music and
movement. I did not notice this when I was 18? Much like Dilwale, there were a generous number of
original scores for Grease, including Greased Lighting by Barry Gibb, and a cameo by Frankie
Avalon, as well as the iconic Sha Na Na playing diegetic music at the school dance, all of which were
in the popular genre of the 50s. Just as we saw in Dilwale, the song repertoire had lyrics that moved
the dialogue along and helped to play out the difficulties of being in love at such a young age,
however, along that vein the stories were dissimilar due to the fact that in America, dating and falling
in love is part of a rite of passage as is choosing who we fall in love. With regard to the Indian culture,
even in the diasporas of today, it can be seen that many still cling to the notion that the father chooses
whom his daughter will wed. Both films incorporated dance numbers with similarities as well, and

The Practice Of Trade Before Gatt Essay
2.1 Practice of trade before GATT
The history of GATT discussions and the present WTO are the birth right of commitments that the
countries have voluntarily agreed with each other. To appreciate the foundation of the present
blueprint of import protection across WTO member countries in addition to products and industries
within those countries, it is important to turn to the past. Western Europe after the World War I was
caught up with economic instability and disparity of the economic recovery following the World War
II was more evident in the context of international trade relations. Economic reconstruction after the
World War I was deficient in institutional machinery to make possible the reduction of trade barriers
that has arisen during the war and had become well established thereafter. The European countries had
faced political weaknesses and it was reflected in trade policies which was evident with the proposal
of equality of trade conditions in draft League of Nations was discarded in favour of a the provision
for the equitable treatment. The World Economic Conference held in 1927 found it indispensible to
call upon the governments to do away with maritime controls on trade, which incorporated, licensing
requirements, import quotas and foreign exchange controls. After over a decade of its formation, the
League of Nations had nevertheless had yet to sponsor any negotiations on liberalizing world trade
from high tariffs, and the commencement of the depression

The Pros And Cons Of Pitbulls
Have you ever seen a pitbull walking on a sidewalk, or at a dog park? If you have, you may have seen
people avoiding it. But why? Over the years, pitbulls have gained a bad rep for pets. People often say
they are the choice of drug dealers, and other bad folks for a reason. They say this because pitbulls are
often documented for attacks, and being danger to their communities. Do you agree? I don,t. To me, it
makes no sense to why they are bad pets. Just because they can attack doesn t mean they are all a
danger, or a hazard. Here is why I think that.
One reason is that they can help and warn people. A thing that a lot of people don t understand is that
pitbulls are very loyal to their owner. That is why they are often guard dogs. Because of their loyalty,
they have helped in the military. In the early 1900s, there was a pitbull named Stubby who became a
military hero for warning the soldiers of a gas leak that could have killed them. He saved many lives
that day. That is a benefit of a pitbull. They will help their owners. So if you are looking for a dog that

possibly attack gets more discrimination over another dog that can possibly attack because the media
likes them less. People believe a lot of the things they see on news articles, but if they stopped to think

The Food Of Food Industry
Additives in Food
People used to appreciate wholesome, nutritious food. These days, the American diet is comprised of
primarily processed food. Is health being sacrificed for convenience? What is really in the food that
Americans eat? Are all the preservatives and additives hurting consumers more than they are helping?
There are definitely benefits to the modern food industry; however, consumers want to be sure that
these benefits outweigh the risks associated with this new food technology. Food manufacturers seem
to be doing well short term, but consumers do not want to suffer in the long run from all these
unnatural additives and processes. These additional chemicals in food may be causing diseases
without us realizing it. People spend so much time investigating which TV, car or even house to buy.
Certainly, they should spend as much time if not more considering what to fill their shopping carts
with at the grocery store. Even though additives help increase food production and food preservation,
people should be careful about what they eat and try to avoid unnecessary additives because they are
unnatural, unhealthy and compromise the wholesomeness of the food.
Literature Review
Laliberte (n.d.) presented the benefits and risks associated with additives in food and explained that

Moral Decay In The Odyssey
One of the most prominent themes of Hesiod s works of literature is the moral decay of the characters
conveyed within them. Most if not all of the characters within his stories experience a change within
character, moral standing and various religious behaviors to express the evolution of the individual
within the given situation. There are many great examples of this ideology portrayed in the novel The
Argonautika such as the goddess Medea and the heroic hero of the new age, Jason.
There are many instances where Hesiod clearly depicts changes in character throughout time. More

Accountability in Nursing
Introduction Responsibility is defined as the reliability, dependability, and the obligation to
accomplish work , responsibility also includes each person s obligation to perform at an acceptable
level, the level that the person has been educated (Kelly Heidenthal, 2003, p. 268). Accountability is
defined as, being responsible and liable for actions or failure of actions of oneself or others in the
context of delegation (NCSBN, 2009). This is in reference to the nurse s legal liability for the actions
taken and patient outcomes. Accountability and responsibility are different, as responsibility belongs
to the person doing the task and accountability belongs to the person who assigned the task. The nurse

This is the legal liability the practitioner owes to the patient. By accepting the responsibility to
perform a task the practitioner must ensure the task is performed competently at least to the standard
of the ordinarily competent practitioner in that type of task. If a practitioner such as a registered nurse
should delegate a task, then that practitioner must be sure that the delegation is appropriate. This
means that the task must be necessary; and the person performing the delegated task, for example a
HCA, must understand the task and how it is performed, have the skills and abilities to perform the
task competently and accept responsibility for carrying it out One common mistakes exhibited by
professionals in the field is delegation of duties by persons. Nurses should be wary of delegating
duties to health care assistant because nurses should be aware of the abilities of the person with whom
he or she is delegating duties. This is to minimize any chance of poor service delivery. Poor patient
attendance by a person tasked with the duty at the time of delivery will extend the liability to the nurse
delegating duties. Accountability of nurses is clearly pinpointed and well within the realm of law. A
nurse is accountable to all the patients he or she is expected to attend to. Such accountability as
underlined by common law helps promote safety of all patients. Accountability to the profession is
one other important aspect that provides an

Feinberg Court Case
I agree with Feinberg. Criminals who have no or limited ability to perceive their motivations should
be treated differently from a legal standpoint. As a society it is difficult to justify blaming these
criminals for their actions and it is not morally acceptable. I also agree with Feinberg that even if these
people are excused from the legal punishments for actions that it is likely that they should be removed
from society in a different way, especially if there is a large likelihood that they will cause harm. A
case that exemplifies that is Durham V. United States. The argument in this case is that Monte Durham

The court s ruling further exemplified some of the points made by Feinberg when it discussed that
jurors should be instructed by a psychiatrist about the mental illness and the effects that the mental

The Drug Of Drug Addiction Essay
Watching my older brother struggle with drug addiction has taught me more in my life than anything
else. He was a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders. As he grew older he made some unwise
choices with regard to substance abuse that quickly turned into a full blown addiction lasting over five
years and landed him in and out of four different rehabs. He was striving to get clean, but every time
he took one step forward he fell three steps back. Taylor entered Drug Court, after finding himself in a
lot of trouble with the law, due to drug related incidents. Drug Court is a state run program offered to
non violent felony offenders suffering from the disease of addiction. If you successfully complete the
3 5 year program, charges can be expunged immediately. But if you fail to complete the program, your
alternative sentence is state prison for the maximum term of your sentence. As Taylor took this
opportunity, he knew he had to be fully committed to his recovery or he would be faced with a 10 year
prison sentence. Commitment was not a problem; his life started to change for the better. He started
his own landscaping business, fell in love with a girl and seemed to be heading down the right road.

The Middle Passage Analysis
In The Middle Passage Documentary by Steven Spielberg, the trans Atlantic slave trade is analyzed
and broken down to reveal the true horrors endured by millions of African Americans through the four
hundred years it occurred. Step by step, it travels through the journey the slaves suffered through,
from the initial capturing to the moments they arrived in America, only to be auctioned off as no more
than lowly farm animals. The documentary shows the overall journey of the Middle Passage and the
trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it in a different light. The novel
follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the horrors of the capture, forced
migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. Another perspective within the book is of a white girl
named Polly who is braving the hardships that come with being an indentured servant. Yet what both

Two Contrasting Places In The Poisonwood Bible
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver uses two extremely contrasting places in the Congo and
the United States in order to represent contrasting ideas. The United States represents civility and

developed country throughout the novel. The two places are major contrasts of each and represent
entirely different ideas. The United States is a place of civility, development, and hospitality
throughout the novel, it is home for the missionary Price family, but Leah Price no longer feels
comfortable there, so they go to the Congo. The Congo is a major contrast to the United States in that
it is viewed as a country with, cannibal natives that would boil us in a pot and eat us up. (Kingsolver

Over a period of years, Guam has experienced a boost to its tourism industry. The year 1967 was the

Mr. McKenzie was immediately uncomfortable with the policy of the hotel. In his line of business, he
knew that a successful company would not follow this procedure, when booking a customer s
reservation.
Our second question was Did the Regal Carnation always misrepresent itself on the website and was
this intentional. Looking at the case, it states that the tourism industry was in its maturity state by
2007. During this time hotels were running elaborate campaigns to make their hotels and business
stand out. But with the declining pool of tourists, there was less profit to be made and as a result less
money to reinvest into the hotel. It is no surprise then; that given time and diminished incentive to
reinvest, that the website told a different story than reality. If the McKenzie s would have researched a
little more, followed up on their gut intuitions about the Regal Carnation, and considered how it fits in
with Guam s overall economy and history perhaps they would have realized the fallacy of deciding
upon value based solely on a website.
It is commonly believed that each product in business goes through what is called a product life cycle.
It can typically be divided into four distinctive categories. Simply put, Introduction, Growth, Maturity
and Decline are the four names that describe the different sections. Guam s tourism industry is
currently going through the Decline stage of the product life cycle.

Analysis Of Wanderer Above A Sea Of Fog
With or without knowing it, you are connecting with the artist every time you look at a piece of their
artwork. This is the artists goal; to make you feel emotion and share a message. Caspar David
Friederich uses his painting to evoke certain emotions in his viewers. Born 1774 in Germany during
the Romantic period, Friederich s art shows deep emotion through many techniques. In his painting,
Wanderer Above a Sea of Fog, Friedrich creates a calm, peaceful and reflective mood through his use
of light, color, composition, lines, shape and space. All of these artistic technical elements work
together to put an emphasis on self reflection in this painting.
The use of light and color by Friedrich contributed to the calm and peaceful mood which is created.
The main source of light in this painting comes from below the man and the rocks he is standing on.
There is no visible sun in the sky and it is most likely behind the clouds. The light from below the
rock illuminates the air around the man, directing your focus to him and his calm stance. The fact that
the main light source from the painting is below him could represent the man s past and how he is
reflecting on it while he is standing here looking out at the landscape. There is very little darkness in
the painting, and this contributes to the peace of the painting because everything has the same level of
light. It shows a sense of evenness and calmness in the landscape. This evenness is also displayed
through the colors

Global Warming And Its Effects Essay
Global warming is directly causing the rise in temperature of the Earth. The melting of the polar ice
caps causes some of the most pressing issues including the endangerment of species indigenous to this
region and the rise of ocean levels.
Global Warming
Global warming is the steady rise of temperature of the Earth s surface. What exactly causes global
warming? Numerous sources fuel global warming, such as deforestation, permafrost, and even
sunspots. Obviously, many factors contribute to this cause, but something called the greenhouse effect
is believed to be the leading component. The sun s rays pass through our atmosphere and warm the
surface of the Earth, and then the heat from these rays reflect back towards space. A majority of the
radiating heat is absorbed by the greenhouse gases, hence the term greenhouse effect, and projected in
a random direction thus heating the Earth s surface even more. The temperature of our planet is
gradually rising because of the burning of fossil fuels which releases carbon dioxide gas into the air.

Bed Bath and Beyond Case
Statement of Problem Bed, Bath and Beyond (BBBY) currently has $400 million more in cash than
they need for ongoing growth and operations requirements. While the company is financially sound
analysts and investors worry about the company s capital structure decisions. Investors do not want to
see that much cash on the books and worry that the current capital structure is not the most effective
for the future. They prefer that BBBY change their capital structure by paying out excess cash and
issuing debt. This could allow BBBY to improve their return on equity and raise earnings per share.
Given the low interest rates available it seems like the perfect time for BBBY to add debt to its capital
structure. Until now they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This represents a 7% increase in stock price. Further, the additional leverage and return of excess cash
to shareholders will significantly increase ROE. If the market determines that an 80% debt capital
structure is feasible for BBBY, then we will expect further capital gains as investors applaud
shareholder friendly policies and re examine EPS estimates. However, if top line growth and same
store sales growth continue to trend downward, investors may become skeptical of BBBY
management s ability to continue generating over 30% EPS growth, and thus question the ability of
the company to service its debt in the future. Aside from the two aforementioned proposals the
company can raise its leverage in other ways. By conducting DuPont analysis and understanding
operating leverage we see that purchasing fixed assets and decreasing stockholder s equity will raise
the equity multiplier and the firm s operating leverage. In this instance we recommend against this
approach as the firm already has a large amount of excess cash above what they require to fund new
positive NPV projects and purchase new assets. Investors would rather see their capital returned to
them in the form of share repurchases and dividends as it is evident by the company s cash stockpile
that they can

Wilderness In The Bible
As I remembered the many examples of the wilderness in the Bible I wanted to see how what they
have in common could to serve to define what it meant to be in the wilderness. From the stories of
Adam and Eve, the people of Israel, Moses, and Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, I found
common characteristics of how wilderness was understood. It was a place away from society and with
less control. People are often lost and wandering as they experience the wilderness. It is where people
go to be tested or punished and people often feel disconnected from God. It is also the place in the
New Testament where mentally ill people dwell. But for all of its negativity, the wilderness is not all
bad. It is where we find miracles and some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It felt natural to use Tom Long and approach the text in a then vs now mindset. The problem in the
text is that John is working in the wilderness, a place of uncertainty and often challenge. The solution
then is that Jesus seeks out John in the wilderness and makes his presence known. The problem we
have today is that we are in Advent but are experiencing a range of emotions similar to the diversity
the wilderness can bring. Our solution today is knowing that Christ is near in Advent and that He will
still reach us in our joy or in our pain. For the structure, I decided with: problem now, problem then,
solution then, solution now. I always prefer to begin the sermon with what is relevant in today s world
in hope of getting people s attention early. I also like to end with the solution for the present day as
that gives the best chance of the audience leaving with the good news at the top of their

Ocean Acidification
The issue on ocean acidification is popularizing but what exactly is ocean acidification? It occurs
when carbon dioxide is absorbed in the ocean s waters from then on a series of chemical reactions take
place which lowers the ocean s water pH, carbonate ion concentration, as well as the saturation states
of the calcium carbonate minerals ( What is Ocean Acidification? ). Since we are addressing the issue
on ocean acidification we will touch on the marine creatures that are harmed and will possibly be
harmed due to the acidification of the seawater. A background of the chemicals involved as well the
beneficial usage of the chemicals will be described in order to address the solution to this
environmental problem. Ocean acidification is said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A process called iron fertilization which stimulates photosynthesis in phytoplankton. Phytoplankton
has the ability to convert dissolved carbon dioxide in the ocean into carbohydrate and oxygen gas.
This solution, seeming to be the best answer to the problem is not without fault. A statement by the
IAP cautioned against this climate engineering. Mitigation approaches such as adding chemicals to
counter the effects of acidification are likely to be expensive, only partly effective and only at a very
local scale, and may pose additional unanticipated risks to the marine environment. There has been
very little research on the feasibility and impacts of these approaches. Substantial research is needed
before these techniques could be applied (Halting ocean acidification in time). Unfortunately, a
process such as this one proves to be quite expensive, difficult, and is not proven to cause other
problems. Lowering carbon dioxide emissions is currently our best defense to ocean acidification
however the mitigation processes such as iron fertilization could be a potential future

Geology Of The Oaks Belt
Geology of the Oaks Belt The Oaks Belt is composed of mafic to felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic
rocks, clastic sedimentary rocks, iron formation and several generations of intrusive rocks. Mafic
volcanic rocks constitute the bulk of the stratigraphy in the OB and occur as both pillowed basalts and
massive flows. They are aphanitic to fine grained and dark green to black (Frey and Venzke, 1991).
Mafic volcaniclastic rocks are more common lower in stratigraphy. Intermediate volcanic rocks occur
almost exclusively as tuffs, are feldspar phyric and contain 20 30% mica and amphibole. Felsic
volcaniclastic rocks vary from rhyolites to dacites and occur mainly near the stratigraphic top of the
volcanic pile where they directly underlie massive sulfide and iron formation deposits. These highly
siliceous rocks are mica and amphibole poor, and occur as both quartzphyric fragments and tuffs.
Felsic agglomerate rocks transition from dacite to rhyolite down stratigraphy (Frey and Venzke, 1991).
Clastic rocks are most common in the central part of the study area and display graded bedding as well
as slumping and soft sediment deformation (Frey and Venzke, 1991).Chemical sedimentary rocks in
the OB include iron formation and chert. The tendency of massive sulfide deposits to occur in
brecciated piles of tuff fragments with associated footwall alteration indicates they are not seawater
precipitates. Chert is typically sulfidic, with pyrite and pyrrhotite as the main sulfide minerals.

Nanocrystalline Materials Lab Report
Photophysical Properties of Nanocrystalline Materials
Allison Bray, Harsha Rao, David Sanchez
Abstract:
Introduction: Nanoparticles are widely researched because of their size dependent properties that
progressively differ from their bulk formations. Nano, meaning these particles are measured to be
~100 nm or less, are structures where the majority of the atoms are located at the surface of the
particle. This gives nanoparticles a high surface area to volume ratio. In comparison to their bulk
counterparts, when materials are in the nano scale, the physical and chemical properties of these
different materials tend to stray from the norm. These changes allow nanoparticles to be effective in
several fields of science and engineering based research, for example, chemical catalysis. These size
dependent properties will be analyzed through three experiments: (1) absorption and fluorescence
emmission of CdSe nanocrystals, (2) Plasmon resonance of metal nanocrystals, and (3) Raman
scattering and surface enhanced Raman scattering.
Nanoparticle orbitals embody valence bands(bonding) and conduction bands(anti bonding), where the
space between these two bands is known as the Bohr Exciton Radius. Depending on the number of
molecules in the nanocrystal, this will determine the distance between the valence and conduction
bands. As the size of the nanocrystal decreases the band gap inherently increases. This development is
due to the process of when the nanocrystal decreases in size

Benefits of the Industrial Revolution
The Second Industrial Revolution was sparked by the creation of the railroad. During the Civil War,
railroads existed and were helpful in bringing supplies to troops, but they weren t very reliable as they
would only go on for as long as the owner of the railroad had land. When the owner of the railroad ran
out of land, the railroad would end, and people would have to move the things from the railroad to
another railroad. People did realize, however, how well a railroad could work if they were all
connected. They found that they could make money from the people using their railroad and riding on
the trains, and soon people connected their local railroads together. Railroad barons, like Cornelius
Vanderbilt, bought small railroads from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Andrew Carnegie had a major impact on the second Industrial Revolution.
J.P. Morgan was the leader in the banking industry. In the 1890 s Morgan and his friends invested
money in the stock of troubled corporations. They won seats on the boards of directors because they
were stock holders and from there they directed companies in a way that avoided competition and
made money. Morgan ended up gaining control of most of the nations major rail lines. Then he began
to buy up steel companies and he put them together into one large corporation. By 1901, Morgan was
the head of the United States Steel Company (which included Carnegie Steel) and this was the first
business in the US to be worth more then $1 million.
During the second Industrial Revolution many inventions were created that simplified life. Some
major inventors were Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Bessemer, George Eastman and
George Pullman.
Thomas Edison created the light bulb using electricity in 1878. The light bulb made it possible to
create light at night without the hazard and struggle with a candle and matches just a flick and the light
was on. It could also be used to send signals or messages with Morse code, or a light to show when a
machine was one, etc. Even now people use the light bulb for many things. Almost every household in
the US has lights now. This invention could be one of the most

College Colleges Vs College
What are your plans after high school? What do you want to do for the rest of your life? Where do you
plan on continuing your education? These are just a few questions high schoolers are hammered with
as they finish their last stretch of high school. Honestly, though, how much thought do students put
into deciding between colleges? Or deciding between Community Colleges or Universities? Before
any high school student decides where they should take their next step, they need to be more educated
on the choices they are about to make. They need to be able to look at a college and have confidence
in their decision. With that being said, junior colleges vary in many different aspects from a four year
college. Especially in the category with cost. Cost effectiveness for junior colleges varies from many
different categories like the cost of the school itself and all the books with it, to the costs of gas for
travel and off campus living.
There are many reasons why a university or a four year college is not for everyone. As high school
students transfer into the college setting, they sometimes have no idea what their next step is. They are
looking into the most affordable option, too. So for these students, their best bet would be to start their
journey at an affordable community college. Paying for college can lead to endless amounts of student
debt, and that is one thing junior colleges are trying to eliminate. So compared to universities, putting
just one student into tens of

Public Housing During The Nineteenth Century
Have you been in a stage in your life that leaves not only you but your children as well on the street
with nowhere to go? If you re family is not making enough money and you need assistance from the
government, Public Housing may be the thing you need. Public housing are homes that are owned by
the government and in some cases by private landlords who give low income citizens a home. Public
Housing was created in between the nineteenth and twentieth century in hopes to decrease poverty
rates from inclining. The Industrial Revolution caused poverty that led to sickness and death to rise
which convinced the government to create this subsidy. As in the old days, there is criteria you must
meet to qualify for Public Housing. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mission statement overall for Public Housing is The purpose of the organization is to provide
direct services to children and their families who have suffered a breakdown in the structure of the
family unit and home of the placement for children in need of alternative (lowincomehousing.us).
Unfortunately public housing is not open to all, only those who meet their criteria. The age does not
matter in this situation because things can happen at any age. For example, if you get pregnant at an
age of 16 and are left alone, you may need public housing to be able to provide a home for your child.
Even though the age does not explain the population, the special problems and special diagnosis of
clients do. The clients who are most likely to get public housing are those who have a special
diagnoses such as an illness or a disability who makes the person unable to work. For example, a 19
year old who is a dependent can injure themselves to the point where you can no longer work. Another
special problems are being an elder, being laid off while providing for your family, etc. This program
offers these people a second chance instead of going straight to poverty. The families who have a
primary head of household that gets laid off can lead to separation of children from parents. This
program offers second

  • 2. Asynchronous Transfer Mode for Transmitting Information Essay ATM is called Asynchronous Transfer Mode. ATM is a networking technology which transmits information in the form fixed cells. The main vision behind designing ATM was integration of services and performance requirements of both telephony and data networking which was shortly called Broadband Integrated Service Vision (B ISDN). This cell relay protocol was designed by ATM forum and was universally adopted by ITU T. Usually the size of the fixed cells is about 53 bytes with 5 bytes for header and 48 bytes payload. When compared to the cell sizes used in the previous technologies, the size of an ATM is small. The smaller size of the ATM cells gives us a major advantage. ATM enables us to transmit video, audio and data over the same network ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This should be done without any degradation in the performance or without requiring any replacement. 3. The design must be implemented in a less expensive method. In case the ATM becomes the backbone of the international communications the cost of implementing it should not be a major barrier. 4. The proposed system must ensure accurate and predictable delivery. This is possible only if ATM is a Connection Oriented system. 5. The major objective of ATM was to move most of the functionalities to the hardware side and have comparatively less functionalities in the software. This will ensure higher speed in the delivery of packets. It is clear from the above points that the major goal of ATM was to ensure guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS). To ensure this various service classes were defined by the ATM forum like Constant Bit Rate, Real time Variable Bit Rate, Non Real time Variable Bit Rate, Unspecified Bit Rate, Available Bit Rate. ARCHITECTURE OF ATM NETWORKS The ATM is a cell switched network as discussed previously. There are two important interfaces which acts as a backbone to the whole architecture of ATM. The first is Network to Network interface (NNI) and the other is the User to Network interface (UNI). The User to Network interface is used to connect the User access devices or the end points to the switches, while the Network to Network interface is used to connect various switches. • 3. Western Techniques In The Searchers Foreword: It should be noted that while this written piece compares and contrasts The Searchers to the concept of the stereotypical Western film , the film would most certainly have shaped the mould for what the stereotypical western was to become. Being one of the largest early Western films to release, the film s once relatively unique storyline and thematic content have become subject to being replicated in more recent Western films. Therefore, when comparing the film to the now conventional Western, it should serve moreso as a critique of the unoriginality of those that contributed to the genre following The Searchers release. Introduction For what is arguably the most successful film to emerge from his long spanning career, film director John Ford s The Searchers has certainly earned its place as one of the greatest western films of all time . However, while the film is certainly a staple among other classic 1950s productions, the genre of Western film does not carry nearly as much weight as it once did over half a century ago. In recent decades, the genre has grown stale among audiences due to more recent additions, composing of tedious storylines, repetitive run of the mill characters, and as a whole becoming incongruous with the evolved social climate which pursues racial equality in the United States. Being grouped with this genre, The Searchers is often overlooked by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. American Directness and the Japanese Essay American Directness and the Japanese American and Japanese ways of speaking are so different that they often cause culture shock to both Americans and Japanese who visit each other s country. Most Japanese who come to the United States are at first shocked and have a problem with the American direct way of speaking. Culture shock occurs because most Japanese cannot easily escape from the formula politeness= indirectness. Compared to the American way of speaking, Japanese speak much more indirectly. Directness is considered a form of impoliteness in Japan. Therefore, when we want to be polite, we speak and act very indirectly. For example, we seldom say, I ll go to a bathroom, except when we are with close friends. Usually, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, we can easily understand what they want. At the same time, Japanese are shocked because their way of being polite no longer holds good in the United States. If we answer, Uh..., yes. I m hungry but only a little, our host or hostess may postpone the meal. Later, Americans around me might notice my stomach rumbling and wonder why I did not tell the truth. Similarly, Japanese may be surprised to hear Americans say No often because Japanese tend not to say No. We usually express our reluctance to accept an offer by subtle facial and verbal expressions because we want to avoid making people feel bad by refusing directly. • 8. Interracial Dating Research Paper Joshua Thomas Lewellen Composition I 27 August 2015 Interracial Dating and Marriage Interracial dating and marriage is a very touchy subject. Society today and in the past has always discriminated against interracial intimate interaction; and this is not limited to the United States. Today, interracial dating and marriage is beginning to be accepted simply because love triumphs all. However, there are still a vast amount of people, communities, and ethnic groups that oppose intimate interracial interaction. They believe that such intimate relationships between two different races should never be developed or maintained. So the real question is, will love be enough to break the barrier and change the minds of those who oppose interracial marriage? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interracial dating and marriage is a highly controversial topic among the Indian community. In the eyes of most Indians interracial mingling is not acceptable under any circumstances. To be frank, they abhor the thought of their children or fellow Indians dating or even marrying people from other races. Now the big question is why? Why do Indians detest interracial dating and marriage? The answer to this question is not a simple one. For each person it may be a different answer. But the most prominent answer you will receive is that there is a vast cultural difference between races. Indians pride themselves with their culture; it s what makes each Indian who he or she is. So if you try and break that culture you will face issues from all around. Most Indians who marry people of other ethnicities face problems from not only other Indians within their community, but also their own family members. Sadly sometimes the answer to the question, will love be enough to break the barrier, is a no. You would think that even if society, your community, and friends oppose you, your family would support you. Sadly that s not the case in most Indian families. Instead of showing love, compassion, and understanding they are ridiculed and mocked; and all for what? For loving someone outside their race? Some families go as far as to disown their children, nieces/nephews, uncles/aunts, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Prostate Cancer In the early stages, symptoms indicating that prostate cancer may have developed are rarely seen, but there are some clinical signs and symptoms that can help determine the presence of this cancer. A neoplasm is a new and abnormal growth of tissue in some part of the body. If the neoplasm is large enough to encroach on the bladder neck, signs and symptoms of urinary obstruction occur (difficulty and frequency of urination, urinary retention, and decreased size and force of the urinary stream) (Pellico, 2013, p. 956). Urinary obstruction could, therefore, potentially indicate prostate cancer. Another symptom that may be present in the early stages of prostate cancer is hematuria, which is blood in urine. The level of PSA in the blood is proportional to the total prostatic mass and does not necessarily indicate malignancy (Pellico, 2013, p. 956). However, if an individual has abnormally high levels of PSA in the body, it could indicate that the individual has prostate cancer (Pellico, 2013). The treatment of prostate cancer depends on the stage of the disease and which symptoms a patient may be experiencing. One type of treatment used is radiation therapy. The two major forms of radiation therapy are teletherapy and brachytherapy. Teletherapy involves almost seven weeks of radiation therapy at a prescribed dosage. Alternatively, Brachytherapy uses radioactive seeds that are implanted while the patient is under anesthesia. In Brachytherapy, [e]ighty to 100 seeds are placed directly in the prostate, and the patient returns home after the procedure (Pellico, 2013, p. 957). However, the patient should avoid close contact with infants or a woman who is, or may become pregnant. If a patient is receiving radiation therapy, the nurse can start implementing safety procedures to ensure the wellbeing of the patient. The nurse should also answer any questions a family member may have about the procedure, such as equipment being used, how long the procedure may be, potential of immobilization, and likelihood that the patient may experience pain. Eva after falling pregnant with Eric s baby went to a charity that helped woman in need. She was very desperate at this time and used Mrs Birling name and a false story about her husband leaving her. After finding out she was pregnant she told her to go and find the father it was his responsibility not knowing it was Eric s baby. Priestley has created the inspector to force the characters to look at their attitudes and lives; to hopefully awaken their social conscience and make them take responsibility for their treatment of Eva Smith. I think he does this by not making him like a character but like their conscience and by making his name Goole like Ghoul. • 11. Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in... Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in the United States? According to Marxist revolutionary theory, advanced capitalism is a necessary precondition to the development of socialism. Capitalists would ruthlessly exploit workers, accumulating capital from the workers labor but not sharing it. This would result in the workers developing a collective class consciousness, overthrowing their oppressors, and replacing their bourgeois government with a dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e., socialism. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels expected that, because the United States had the most advanced form of capitalism in the world, it was the most likely setting for a proletarian revolution, yet, no socialist or labor party has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Marxist theory, it should have been impossible for Russia to achieve socialism. It was the least industrialized country in Europe, and most of its population consisted of peasants rather than a class conscious proletarian working class. The first socialist country should have been a country like the United States, but proletarian revolution did not occur in the United States first or ever. Over the course of the past 110 years, historians, political scientists, and economists have all attempted to explain why. The bulk of this historiographical essay will address Werner Sombart s 1906 assessment of the failings of American socialism, Eric Foner s critical reinterpretation of the question from 1984, and these works conversation with each other and other studies. German economist and sociologist Werner Sombart agreed with the basic Marxist assertion that the development of socialism was a necessary reaction to capitalism, and thus was most likely to occur in the United States first. When no such thing had transpired by the first years of the twentieth century, Sombart conducted the first book length study on the question: Warum gibt es in den Vereingten Staaten keinen Sozialismus? • 12. Frederick Douglass s Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick... In the early 19th century, slavery was legal and popular in the southern states, among these slaves, one slave in particular impacted the 19th century was Frederick Douglass. Although he was a slave for most of his life, Douglass eventually became a freeman, a social reform, writer, and an abolitionist for slavery. However, before he became a freeman, Douglass experienced a brutal life as a slave. He faced dehumanization in his early life, but accomplished what most slaves we not allowed to do; which is getting educated, by self educating himself and retaliating against the idea of slavery. Furthermore, since he self educated himself, he was able to published the narrative, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas; which, Douglass shows the audience how methods such as, physical abuse, psychological abuse, and lack of education were used to dehumanize slaves. He describes how he resisted these methods and realized that whites who participated in slavery themselves were being dehumanized. One of the most known and infamous way of dehumanizing slaves, was by abusing them. The most common abuse was whipping them; however, there were others ways of punishing them, such as, the lack of food, water, clothing and making them work long hours from the sunrise to sun down. Some slaveholders would only whip their slave if they disobeyed them, though others did it to make them live in fear and most for the satisfaction of it or to make fun of the slaves. Why Do Marine Animals Use Sign Language Humans communicate by making sounds that are part of an entire language that can be spoken, written, and read, using body language, and, in some cases, using sign language. Marine animals have a slightly different approach, although they use sound to communicate as well. There are many things that affect the messages marine animals send to each other. The main factors are the rate, pitch, and structure of the sounds they make. Whales and dolphins can use echolocation to locate food and other objects. Echolocation is the process in which an animal makes a sound and listens to see how long it takes to make it be reflected back to them when it comes into contact with an object. This tells the animals many things about the object, such as how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Salinity, temperature, and the depth of the water can affect the speed of sound in the ocean. The ways in which humans and marine animals produce sound is very different. Humans produce sound by expelling a lot of air over their vocal chords. Dolphins and other marine animals cannot afford to waste such precious oxygen, so they have engineered other ways to accomplish this goal. Whales and dolphins pass air through air sacs they have in their heads to produce noises. Some fish vibrate their swim bladders, crustaceans close their claws at high speeds to make air bubbles that pop and produce noise, and seals and sea lions move their larynx to produce growling sounds. Humans and marine animals also hear noises differently. Humans can hear sounds when sound waves strike our ear drums, causing bones in our ears to vibrate. This then makes the fluid in our inner ear vibrate, and vibrates the hair cells as well. The hairs that are vibrating are connected to neurons that lead to the auditory nerve and sends signals to our brain. Our brain then interprets the signals into information from the sound waves. Dolphins and whales have a different process for interpreting sound. Their lower jaw, called a mandible, carries sound to the bones in their middle ear and from there the vibrations follow the same path as the human hearing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Again, a nearly wall to wall score included some original hits from the 50s helping to set the scene, as well as melodies written especially for the movie in the same style, all of which helped to tell the story over the course of a school year. Much to my bewilderment, when viewing Grease I found that the songs were also lip synced and though the actual stars did their own singing, it too suffered in the technical department plus the dancing fell short just as in Dilwale, without much syncopation between music and movement. I did not notice this when I was 18? Much like Dilwale, there were a generous number of original scores for Grease, including Greased Lighting by Barry Gibb, and a cameo by Frankie Avalon, as well as the iconic Sha Na Na playing diegetic music at the school dance, all of which were in the popular genre of the 50s. Just as we saw in Dilwale, the song repertoire had lyrics that moved the dialogue along and helped to play out the difficulties of being in love at such a young age, however, along that vein the stories were dissimilar due to the fact that in America, dating and falling in love is part of a rite of passage as is choosing who we fall in love. However, the decline of the Japanese economy in the 1900 s and onward severely damaged the economy of Guam. How ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. McKenzie was immediately uncomfortable with the policy of the hotel. In his line of business, he knew that a successful company would not follow this procedure, when booking a customer s reservation. Our second question was Did the Regal Carnation always misrepresent itself on the website and was this intentional. Looking at the case, it states that the tourism industry was in its maturity state by 2007. During this time hotels were running elaborate campaigns to make their hotels and business stand out. But with the declining pool of tourists, there was less profit to be made and as a result less money to reinvest into the hotel. It is no surprise then; that given time and diminished incentive to reinvest, that the website told a different story than reality. If the McKenzie s would have researched a little more, followed up on their gut intuitions about the Regal Carnation, and considered how it fits in with Guam s overall economy and history perhaps they would have realized the fallacy of deciding upon value based solely on a website. It is commonly believed that each product in business goes through what is called a product life cycle. It can typically be divided into four distinctive categories. Simply put, Introduction, Growth, Maturity and Decline are the four names that describe the different sections. Guam s tourism industry is currently going through the Decline stage of the product life cycle. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Analysis Of Wanderer Above A Sea Of Fog With or without knowing it, you are connecting with the artist every time you look at a piece of their artwork. This is the artists goal; to make you feel emotion and share a message. Caspar David Friederich uses his painting to evoke certain emotions in his viewers. Born 1774 in Germany during the Romantic period, Friederich s art shows deep emotion through many techniques. In his painting, Wanderer Above a Sea of Fog, Friedrich creates a calm, peaceful and reflective mood through his use of light, color, composition, lines, shape and space. All of these artistic technical elements work together to put an emphasis on self reflection in this painting. The use of light and color by Friedrich contributed to the calm and peaceful mood which is created. The main source of light in this painting comes from below the man and the rocks he is standing on. There is no visible sun in the sky and it is most likely behind the clouds. The light from below the rock illuminates the air around the man, directing your focus to him and his calm stance. The fact that the main light source from the painting is below him could represent the man s past and how he is reflecting on it while he is standing here looking out at the landscape. There is very little darkness in the painting, and this contributes to the peace of the painting because everything has the same level of light. It shows a sense of evenness and calmness in the landscape. This evenness is also displayed through the colors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Global Warming And Its Effects Essay Global warming is directly causing the rise in temperature of the Earth. The melting of the polar ice caps causes some of the most pressing issues including the endangerment of species indigenous to this region and the rise of ocean levels. Global Warming Global warming is the steady rise of temperature of the Earth s surface. What exactly causes global warming? Numerous sources fuel global warming, such as deforestation, permafrost, and even sunspots. Obviously, many factors contribute to this cause, but something called the greenhouse effect is believed to be the leading component. The sun s rays pass through our atmosphere and warm the surface of the Earth, and then the heat from these rays reflect back towards space. A majority of the radiating heat is absorbed by the greenhouse gases, hence the term greenhouse effect, and projected in a random direction thus heating the Earth s surface even more. The temperature of our planet is gradually rising because of the burning of fossil fuels which releases carbon dioxide gas into the air. (1) (US Environmental Protection Agency. Global Emissions by Gas.) The graph proves that our recent dependency on fossil fuels is releasing massive amounts of carbon dioxide into the air. Over the last century, the growth of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has resulted in (2) increased concentrations of greenhouse gases. As the emission of carbon dioxide into the air continues, more and more heat will be trapped resulting in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the company is financially sound analysts and investors worry about the company s capital structure decisions. Investors do not want to see that much cash on the books and worry that the current capital structure is not the most effective for the future. They prefer that BBBY change their capital structure by paying out excess cash and issuing debt. This could allow BBBY to improve their return on equity and raise earnings per share. Given the low interest rates available it seems like the perfect time for BBBY to add debt to its capital structure. Until now they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This represents a 7% increase in stock price. Further, the additional leverage and return of excess cash to shareholders will significantly increase ROE. If the market determines that an 80% debt capital structure is feasible for BBBY, then we will expect further capital gains as investors applaud shareholder friendly policies and re examine EPS estimates. However, if top line growth and same store sales growth continue to trend downward, investors may become skeptical of BBBY management s ability to continue generating over 30% EPS growth, and thus question the ability of the company to service its debt in the future. Aside from the two aforementioned proposals the company can raise its leverage in other ways. By conducting DuPont analysis and understanding operating leverage we see that purchasing fixed assets and decreasing stockholder s equity will raise the equity multiplier and the firm s operating leverage. In this instance we recommend against this approach as the firm already has a large amount of excess cash above what they require to fund new positive NPV projects and purchase new assets. Investors would rather see their capital returned to them in the form of share repurchases and dividends as it is evident by the company s cash stockpile that they can ... Wilderness In The Bible As I remembered the many examples of the wilderness in the Bible I wanted to see how what they have in common could to serve to define what it meant to be in the wilderness. From the stories of Adam and Eve, the people of Israel, Moses, and Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, I found common characteristics of how wilderness was understood. It was a place away from society and with less control. People are often lost and wandering as they experience the wilderness. It is where people go to be tested or punished and people often feel disconnected from God. It is also the place in the New Testament where mentally ill people dwell. Mitigation approaches such as adding chemicals to counter the effects of acidification are likely to be expensive, only partly effective and only at a very local scale, and may pose additional unanticipated risks to the marine environment. There has been very little research on the feasibility and impacts of these approaches. Substantial research is needed before these techniques could be applied (Halting ocean acidification in time). • 45. Geology Of The Oaks Belt Geology of the Oaks Belt The Oaks Belt is composed of mafic to felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks, clastic sedimentary rocks, iron formation and several generations of intrusive rocks. Mafic volcanic rocks constitute the bulk of the stratigraphy in the OB and occur as both pillowed basalts and massive flows. They are aphanitic to fine grained and dark green to black (Frey and Venzke, 1991). Mafic volcaniclastic rocks are more common lower in stratigraphy. Intermediate volcanic rocks occur almost exclusively as tuffs, are feldspar phyric and contain 20 30% mica and amphibole. Felsic volcaniclastic rocks vary from rhyolites to dacites and occur mainly near the stratigraphic top of the volcanic pile where they directly underlie massive sulfide and iron formation deposits. These highly siliceous rocks are mica and amphibole poor, and occur as both quartzphyric fragments and tuffs. Felsic agglomerate rocks transition from dacite to rhyolite down stratigraphy (Frey and Venzke, 1991). Clastic rocks are most common in the central part of the study area and display graded bedding as well as slumping and soft sediment deformation (Frey and Venzke, 1991).Chemical sedimentary rocks in the OB include iron formation and chert. The tendency of massive sulfide deposits to occur in brecciated piles of tuff fragments with associated footwall alteration indicates they are not seawater precipitates. Chert is typically sulfidic, with pyrite and pyrrhotite as the main sulfide minerals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Nanocrystalline Materials Lab Report Photophysical Properties of Nanocrystalline Materials Allison Bray, Harsha Rao, David Sanchez Abstract: Introduction: Nanoparticles are widely researched because of their size dependent properties that progressively differ from their bulk formations. Nano, meaning these particles are measured to be ~100 nm or less, are structures where the majority of the atoms are located at the surface of the particle. This gives nanoparticles a high surface area to volume ratio. In comparison to their bulk counterparts, when materials are in the nano scale, the physical and chemical properties of these different materials tend to stray from the norm. These changes allow nanoparticles to be effective in several fields of science and engineering based research, for example, chemical catalysis. These size dependent properties will be analyzed through three experiments: (1) absorption and fluorescence emmission of CdSe nanocrystals, (2) Plasmon resonance of metal nanocrystals, and (3) Raman scattering and surface enhanced Raman scattering. Nanoparticle orbitals embody valence bands(bonding) and conduction bands(anti bonding), where the space between these two bands is known as the Bohr Exciton Radius. Depending on the number of molecules in the nanocrystal, this will determine the distance between the valence and conduction bands. As the size of the nanocrystal decreases the band gap inherently increases. This development is due to the process of when the nanocrystal decreases in size ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These are just a few questions high schoolers are hammered with as they finish their last stretch of high school. Honestly, though, how much thought do students put into deciding between colleges? Or deciding between Community Colleges or Universities? Before any high school student decides where they should take their next step, they need to be more educated on the choices they are about to make. They need to be able to look at a college and have confidence in their decision. With that being said, junior colleges vary in many different aspects from a four year college. Especially in the category with cost. Cost effectiveness for junior colleges varies from many different categories like the cost of the school itself and all the books with it, to the costs of gas for travel and off campus living. There are many reasons why a university or a four year college is not for everyone. As high school students transfer into the college setting, they sometimes have no idea what their next step is. They are looking into the most affordable option, too. So for these students, their best bet would be to start their journey at an affordable community college.
