Strategic Management for Travel and Tourism
Introduction After examining different theories of organizational strategy we were able to apply
each case to our company and work. We also learned that there are two dominant methodologies,
categorized as planned/analytical and emergent approaches. These strategies provide much
knowledge and advice as to how to improve our organization. However, it is important to
remember that these theories are not perfect. They do not encompass every organizational situation
and there are a lot of circumstantial assumptions made as well. In the following discussion we will
analyze the advantages and disadvantages between these strategic theories. In addition I will reflect
on how these approaches may be used in my own real world situation. The... Show more content on

Real world application As Hines (2004) points out, real world strategies are neither purely planned
nor purely emergent. Realized strategies are a combination of both deliberate and emergent
strategies (pg.197). I see benefits in both approaches, with a mix being the most advantageous and
appropriate in my industry/work. Due to the nature of our products and market (games and
technology) things are constantly in flux. Having a degree of planning is necessary to provide
focus and direction for the strategy of my organization. This can also assist in the evaluation and
analysis of the decision performance. My organization commonly uses this deliberate strategy in
many situations. Most recently when we chose to diversify our product line by investing in and
releasing games for the mobile platform. Most dominant however, is the emergent strategy, which
allows us sufficient flexibity to learn and adapt to changes in our environment. Supported by other
approaches, I believe my organization can continue being successful. These other supports include
what Stonehouse (2002) calls a competitive positioning and resources/competence based strategy.
The competitive positioning approach emphasizes the importance of not only the environment but
the need of analyzing your business in the context of its industry. The last support outlet (resources
/competence), focuses on the competitive advantage of your business; what are the company

The person that first came to mind for this assignment is Yann Trividic. He s a former Miami
City Ballet principle dancer currently living in France as an Osteopath who loves surfing and
occasionally plays the violin. To me, Yann is one of my favourite dance teachers, my Osteopath
and an inspiration. He makes me want to be a better person and find personal satisfaction in

However, it s nothing in comparison to the amount he s learned and overcome for himself as a

Infinity War sees veteran composer Alan Silvestri returning for duty, after scoring the first
Avengers back in 2012. Rather than generic action movie music, Silvestri s compositions are full of
flavour and majesty, astutely making use of the memorable Avengers theme when appropriate to
underscore certain badass moments, inspiring pure ecstasy. Infinity War s ensemble cast excels all
reasonable expectations; the movie even reintroduces an iconic character in a surprise holy shit

Wong as Wong, to Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and pretty much the entire ensemble cast of
Black Panther. There are certain notable exclusions from the cast, including

Resentment, the cause of destruction
Power is something that every human would like to acquire. The desire to earn power can be so
important for some individuals that they use violence to acquire it. Violence can often cause
jealousy, greed and hatred for each another. It is the violence of many humans that can lead them
into doing such unforgivable acts. In both the plays, William Shakespeare and Arthur Miller with
their famous novels, The Merchant of Veniceand The Crucible, have shown how Grudges and
Rivalries can cause such destruction in the lives of the people and the society in this play.
In The Merchant of Venice, Grudges and Personal Rivalries in the trial scene has clearly been
expressed with Shylock and Antonio. The central part and the twist of this novel are primarily
caused by the rivalries between Shylock and Antonio. The merry bond that Antonio signed to help
his dearest friend, Bassanio, was the main reason of the trial scene. According to Antonio, Content
in faith. I ll seal to such a bond, and say there is much kindness in the Jew (1.3.163 164) The bond
which Antonio had willingly accepted was that if he failed to pay back 3 thousand ducats in 3
months, Shylock had the right to cut a pound of flesh from his body. As Antonio was a rich
merchant and had plenty of ships coming in, with 9 times the money of the loan, he found no
difficulty in accepting the bond. However, times were unfortunate for

Essay On Rural Areas
Defining Rural Areas for Statistical Purposes
The vagaries around the rural concept must yield to an objective form in order to have consistent
measurement. Since this chapter draws primarily on data from the National Center for Education
Statistics (NCES), their definition of rural is consistent and convenient. Since 2006, NCES has
used the same urban centric locale definitions used by the US Census Bureau. Fittingly, under this
urban centric definition, rural areas include all those located outside of places the Census calls
urban.
The urban umbrella term includes three locales: cities, suburbs, and towns. Each of these is broken
into three subtypes: large, midsize, and small. City locales include territories within an urbanized ...

For this reason, this chapter uses the entire rural locale instead of rural sublevels. One wrinkle in
NCES s classification system is that while every school can be specifically accounted for as
belonging to one locale, school districts can include schools from different locale classifications.
For example, a district classified as suburban might include a number of individual schools that are
classified as rural. Despite the partial mismatch between the locale of some schools and the
districts they belong to, there are valuable reasons to compare school districts by their predominant
locale. For instance, districts, rather than schools, are the ones that often deal with issues like
transportation or providing opportunities for advanced course taking, which pose unique challenges
in rural areas. In order to compare districts by locale, the chapter uses NCES district
categorizations which assign a locale based on the predominant locale the district s schools.
Of course, this classification system groups together a large number of schools into each locale
category that are far from homogeneous. To illustrate differences between locales and across rural
areas, select data points are broken out by locale

Insurable Interest Essay
What is Insurable Interest in a Maritime Insurance Policy
The term insurable interest refers to the benefit (or interest) a person has in an insured object (or
person as in a life insurance insurable interest). This benefit can refer to a financial benefit, among
others. A person has insurable interest in a thing when he or she would experience some kind of
loss (financial or otherwise) if the thing were to be damaged or lost.
Say that you have piece of jewelry in your home that is also a family heirloom. If someone were
to steal it (or if you were to drop it down the sink, or in the toilet, or even lose it in the garbage)
you would suffer different kinds of loss, both financial and emotional. Thus, you have an insurable
interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no requirement of insurable interest when the contract is made. This section also allows
the subject matter of a marine policy to be insured lost or not lost . This means that it is possible
for the insured to recover under a marine policy even if he acquired his interest after the loss has
occurred, unless he was aware of the loss and the insurer was not. These rules reflect the practices
of marine trade where cargo frequently changes ownership in the course of transit. In this case there
is a transfer of rights i.e assignment of interest.
Assignment of Interest may be done by endorsement in blank that is to sign the policy.
Alternatively, this can be also done by signing in favor of one other person. In turn, only that person
can then claim to be the rightful owner. The law permits this unless the policy states otherwise.
However, hull policies prohibit assignment even though the marine act promotes this transfer of
rights.
An interesting fact is that companies can have insurable interest in their workers, both in higher ups
and in those lower down the ladder. There has been some controversy about this recently, where
companies took life insurance policies out on their employees without their employees consent. In
these instances, the companies collected the policies on their deceased employees, who sometimes
did not even work for them anymore.
Of course companies have

The Project Background Of Vehicle Safety
The Project Background
Vehicle safety is of upmost importance for automotive manufactures as having an unsafe vehicle
can mean the company will not be able to sell its new vehicle to the public. Each country has their
own legislation of vehicle safety which manufacture has to abide by and produce documentation to
prove that the vehicle is safe, in order to sell its vehicle in that particular country. Independent testing
organisations, such as Euro NCAP, perform a number of safety tests on new vehiclesto confirm that
the vehicle conforms to legislation [1]. These tests also score the vehicle on different safety aspects.
Some manufactures use this score as a unique selling point of the vehicle so it is very important
that it achieves a good score [2].
One procedure tests vehicle rollover which is a particular risk to SUV s as they tend to have a
higher centre of gravity than other vehicles. This is a particular hazard as SUV s are becoming
more popular in today s society [3]. Vehicle roll over fatality accounts for 35% of all passenger
vehicle fatalities in the US in 2012 with 56% of fatalities occurring in SUVs [3]. The percentage
of fatalities in SUV rollover has reduced since 2003 however more research is needed to reduce it
further. Whilst the test is carefully designed there is always some chance that the vehicle will
rollover even if it has passed the test, thus endangering life. Therefore more research is needed to
accurately simulate vehicle dynamics during many

Taking a Look at Marfan Syndrome
Marfan Syndrome, which is named after Antoine Marfan who first described the disorder in 1896,
is a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissues found throughout the body. This syndrome
can affect many different parts of the body, but the most commonly affected are the heart, blood
vessels, bones, joints, respiratory system, nervous system, and eyes. Thankfully, a person s
intelligence is never affected. Marfan syndromeaffects people from all races and ethnic
backgrounds, and this often makes it hard to detect. It is a pretty rare genetic disorder affecting
only about 1 in every 5,000 people.
This syndrome is from a mutation of a gene on chromosome 15 and this causes problems in the
production of fibrillin 1 which is a protein that is an important part of connective tissue. The name
for the gene is FBN1. Basically, it is the glue that helps to support the tissues in the human body. A
child born to a parent with this syndrome has a 50% of having it. However, in the remaining 25%,
neither parent has the disease which gives them a 1 in 10,000 chance of having a child with this
disorder. When a child of two unaffected parents is born with it then the genetic mutation occurs in
either the egg or sperm cell at the time of conception.
The defect of this glue leads to phenotypes such as a thin, lanky build, flexible joints, sunken eyes,
a chest that is sunken in or bulges out, curvature of the spine to one side (scoliosis), and flat feet.
There are other

Explanation Of Solubility Research
What is solubility? Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance,
the solute, to dissolve in a solvent. (Science Daily, 2014) Solubility occurs around people
throughout their everyday life, and is exemplified through their food and drinks, and even the air
that surrounds them. Solubilityis a complex idea that can be understood in a simpler form, i.e.,
having hot coffee and adding sugar to it. It appears that the hot coffee melts the salt, but deeper
beyond the surface the hot coffee molecules break apart the sugar molecules; the molecules are
broken down, because of the increase in temperature that causes the molecules to collide harder. The
collision is caused by the faster, vibrating molecules in the solution.
The solute (salt) is the substance that dissolves in the solvent (water) and it depends on a few
things: temperature, volume, type of solvent and concentration. The solubility of most salts can be
found on a solubility curve and it expresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second law of thermodynamics is a general principle that expresses how some solutes
dissolve in decreased temperatures, because it places constraints upon the direction of heat
transfer and the attainable efficiencies of heat engines (R Nave). In other words, in all energy
exchanges if no energy enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always
be less than that of the initial state. (Farabee, 2010) The second law is commonly known as the
law of increased entropy, a measure of unusable energy within a closed or isolated system and it is
a system of chaos. (All about science, 2002) The kinetic energy of the solution increases with the
temperature and it allows the particles to slide between each other; It can be understood by
imagining a vibrating molecule engulfing a regular molecule and breaking it

The National Survey on Drug use and Health found in 2014, 11. 4 percent of adolescents aged 12
to 17 (2. 8 million adolescents) had an MDE during the past year (SAMSHA). The pressures and
struggles of being an adolescent can only be exacerbated by major depressive episodes or even a
diagnosis of major depressive disorder. Adolescents require support for their experiences and
attention needs to be brought to their trials. . Major depression not only affects adolescents social
and academic lives, but influence, directly, their actions and decisions as well. Adolescents can
partake in numerous actions to cope with their feelings of depression such as taking drugs. The
National Survey on Drug use and Health found that, Youths with a past year MDE in 2014 also
were more likely than those without an MDE to be users of marijuana, nonmedical users of

even lead to a struggle with the very substances used to cope with their depression. The National

made from overseas, by workers who are paid less. It called Fast Fashion, fast fashion are clothes
are cheaper and are usually low quality (Ojiala). Fast fashion has been developing over the past
two decades(Pagotto). Many of the brands that support the fast fashion trend release 18 collections
a year ( Cris in Our Closets ). The Fast fashion industry provides marketplaces with inexpensive
clothes for most young women (Luz).
Fast fashion has a big impact on the environment and on the employees of the fashion industry. The
environment is deteriorating because of the fabric and clothes in the industry. The fast fashion
industry creates 10% of the world s pollution (Bedat). With each part of making the clothes, from
the fabric, to the shipping creates an environmental and occupational hazard (Luz). Not only is the
environment impacted, but so are the employees. Many of

Synaptic Influencer
It is commonly accepted that synapses exist between neurons and reuptake occurs with synaptic
neurotransmitters. According to Doctor Jason Pugh s research, there is much more involved. In
conjunction with Trinity s Biology Department, he spoke about his specific field of study in
presynaptic receptors and neurotransmitters. The lecture itself was titled Cooperative activity of
presynaptic GABA receptors modulates neurotransmitterrelease and information transfer in neuronal

processes concerning them.
This lecture started off with the description of two major synaptic influencers: the excitatory
glutamate and the inhibitory GABA. Along with these

The Huns Research Paper
Where the Huns originated from has been a hot Topic for centuries. Some Historians believe they
came from either China, Mongolia, or far eastern Russia. According to The Huns, especially those
who migrated to the west may have a combination of central Asian Turk, Mongolic, and Ugric
stocks . Mundzuk, the father of Attila, was brothers to both king Octar and Rugila who ruled over
the Hunnic empire in the fifth century. Two relatives ruling was common among the Huns, it was
not required, but it has appeared many times over Hunnic history. The year of Attila s birth is not

His death left Attila and his brother Bleda in charge of the Huns. When the brothers took control of
the Huns they immediately began bargaining with the Byzantine Emperor Theodosius II for the

In the year 435 they met with Byzantine leaders at Margus and were able to negotiate a treaty. The
treaty established that the Byzantines would return the renegades, would pay a tribute of 350
Roman pounds of gold per year, and would also trade with the Huns. Happy with the treaty Attila

History and Understanding the Past
THE HISTORIAN S TASK IS TO UNDERSTAND THE PAST; THE HUMAN SCIENTIST, BY
CONTRAST, IS LOOKING TO CHANGE THE FUTURE.
TO WHAT EXTENT IS THIS TRUE IN THESE AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE?
The historian s task of developing an understanding of the past involves the study of the human past
as described in the written documents and objects left by human beings related to a particular point
or period in time. However, there is always the problem of authenticity of evidence and the
interpretation of events that may or may not be accurate or relevant. Over time more and different
evidence often appears and must be evaluated and compared to existing sources and their
interpretation. Human science puts human experience in context and its aim is to explain human
behavior by creating theories to predict it and then solve problems identified by those predictions
considering them in terms of human self knowledge that allows us to understand ourselves as
people. It is very important for us as people to know ourselves: where knowing who we are and
where we stand means knowing the things that distinguish us from other people, by knowing our
true nature as humans.
The value of history is that it teaches us what man has done is. We consider history as a journal of
our memories stating that those who don t study the past are condemned to repeat it . Basically, it
gives us a frame of events to consider the possible outcomes of present and future actions. It helps
us understand past triumphs and

There is evidence of how humans were creative before civilization, from the paintings, objects,

Secret Intelligence Service and Espionage
To what extent have spies and covert operations shaped the course of history?
Espionage plays a big role in our history and there are many examples that show it. The
importance of espionage in military affairs has been recognized since the beginning of recorded
history. The Egyptians had a well developed secret service, and spying and subversion are
mentioned in the Iliad and in the Bible. The ancient Chinese treatise (c.500 B.C.) on the art of war
devotes much attention to deception and intelligence gathering, arguing that all war is based on
deception. In the Middle Ages, political espionage became important. Joan of Arc was betrayed by
Bishop Pierre Cauchon of Beauvais, a spy in the pay of the English, and Sir Francis Walsingham...

Egyptian spies made significant contributions to espionage tradecraft. As the ancient civilizations
of Egypt, Greece, and Rome employed literate subjects in their civil services, many spies dealt
with written communications. They had to develop codes and disguise writing. Egyptian spies
were the first to develop the extensive use of poisons, including toxins derived from plants and
snakes, to carry out assassinations or acts of sabotage.
Greece
The rise of the Greek civilization brought forth new concepts of government and law
enforcement. Between 1500 B.C. and 1200 B.C., Greece s many wars with its regional rivals led
to the development of new military and intelligence strategies. The early Greeks relied on
deception as a primary means of achieving surprise attacks on their enemies. So renowned were
Greek employments of deceptive strategies, that Greek literature from antiquity celebrated its
intelligence and espionage exploits. The legendary incident of the Trojan Horse, a wooden
structure given to the city of Troy as gift, but which contained several hundred Greek soldiers
seeking safe entrance into the heavily fortified rival city, became the symbol of Grecian intelligence
prowess.
In the era of democratic Greek city states, espionage was chiefly employed as a political tool.
Agents of espionage spied on rival city states, providing rulers with information on military strength
and defenses. The most

A Career As A Dentist
Many children, teens and even adults suffer insecurity from having crooked teeth. In the dental
field, people who major in Orthodontics specialize in straightening their patients teeth using braces
to help them feel confident in their smiles. Even after the braces are put on their patients, dentists
are required to check up on them often to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be
doing. Another career I will be researching is Kindergarten teaching because I enjoy being around
small children and have much patience in dealing with their problems.
Dentist always do their job indoors in a dental clinic. They are constantly in physical contact with
their patients while working on the inside of their mouths. Because of this, they are required to
wear latex gloves and glasses to protect their hands from the bacteria of the mouth and their eyes
from anything that could possibly be spat by their patients ( Dentists ). Being a dentist means one
needs to be able to know how to socialize and work in groups while also knowing how to be
independent and work on one s own.
What is required to be a dentist is a high school diploma, 4 years in college for a bachelor s degree,
4 years in dental school, and 2 years in a post doctoral program devoted to the study of orthodontics

The Effect Of Ph Level On Starch Digestion
Ankita Batra
Section 13156
The Effect of pH Level on Starch Digestion by the Activity of Amylase and the Examination of the
Rate of Starch Disappearance Using Iodine Solution
Introduction
A key enzyme found in the saliva of humans, alpha amylase, is involved in the early stages of starch
digestion. This type of amylase is classified by its glycosidic bonds and is mainly found in the
bodies of animals. The digestion of starch will begin with the enzyme in saliva and will continue to
break down starch as the food bolus reaches the duodenum (Butterworth et al., 2011). Therefore,
alpha amylase is a significant component in the digestion process and also plays a major role in
energy storage.
Starch is the main source of carbohydrate in the human diet, so it is essential to have an enzyme
that assists in the efficient hydrolysis of starch into sugars. Amylase catalyzes this reaction by
breaking the glycosidic bonds present, which results in maltose, a disaccharide, glucose, and
varying lengths of oligosaccharides with alpha limit dextrins and alpha configurations (Marini, I.
2006). Although the amylase enzyme is abundant from the secretion of the pancreas and salivary
glands, it can also be obtained from different sources such as other mammals, plants, and
microorganisms.
Since there are many sources for obtaining amylase, the enzyme also has many applications in
industrial processes. Amylase acquired from bacteria and fungi can be beneficial in the chemical
and pharmaceutical

society was well off during this time period. With new forms of mass media and advertising,
people were under the impression that the stock market was booming and that the economy was

Persuasive Essay On Immigration Reform
The United States, immigration policy is at a standstill due to intense political divisions.
Undocumented immigrants face major issues by coming to this country to get a chance in rising
socioeconomically and to achieve a better way of life for themselves, as well as for their families.
Refugees fleeing their unsafe and war destructed countries are punished by this political division,
waiting and seeking asylum in the United States. Immigrationin the United States has long
supported the growth and power of the economy of this country. Immigrants are taxpayers,
consumers, entrepreneurs and job creators. They contribute trillions of dollars to the US economy
and are vital for the future of the United States. The new administration with its threats of increased
immigration enforcement and restrictions on legal immigrants and refugees will cost the taxpayer
huge amounts and is threatening immigrants and their families. An Immigration Reform needs to
be put in place to address the following issues; safety of immigrants, stop racial profiling by policy
officers, work visas and protecting the dreamers with the DREAM ACT which would help millions
of undocumented youth a pathway to citizenship through education.
Solutions
Our current administration perceives the current immigration system as broken and in need of
revision to help the current labor market and grow the economy. Driven by myths that immigrants
hurt economic growth and that immigrants steal American jobs. America

God s Grandeur, By Gerard Manly Hopkins
God s Grandeur by Gerard Manly Hopkins
As a Jesuit priest, Gerard Manly Hopkins devoted many years of his life to spiritual study and
instruction. As seen in his poem God s Grandeur , Hopkins translated his intense spirituality into
poems that explore the relationship between humans and the natural world as an expression of God
s divinity. In the poem, Hopkins presents the Victorian fixation on progress and change not as an
improvement, but rather as a regression from a constructive communion with God s glory as found
in the natural world. Despite Hopkins negative view on the impact of man s progression, he
remains confident and appreciative of the protective power of God and the inexhaustibility of
nature as further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, Hopkins establishes a connection between God s grandeur and light, which he continues in
the second stanza with his description of the sunrise brought forth by the possibility of rebirth as
well as continuity in nature. Although the sun sets in the black west, morning, at the brown brink
eastward, springs (12). The sun, a source of energy so far superior to any source to any man made
source, becomes an expression of God s care for the Earth, offering the possibility of freshness and
growth despite all of man s abuses.
Hopkins outlines some of these abuses in the first stanza, in which a rather bleak picture of man s
interaction with the earth contrasts to the brightness of God s light. During the Victorian Age of
mass production, people gradually drew away from small rural farms into the dismal urban world
of factories and mills. Hopkins laments that such so called progress has drawn man away from the
land. The sun, God s ultimate source of light and life, shines upon soil that Is bare now, abandoned
for the urban life (8). That Hopkins chooses to say now in reference to the barren earth suggests a
dramatic and negative change from the past. While not condemning the contemporary changes,
Hopkins regrets that man s progress has so negatively impacted both the natural world and man
himself.
In defining how man s progress leads him away from the God s grandeur, Hopkins lowers the

Assessing the Functional and Technical Architecture of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Systems In Higher Education
Introduction
The foundational role of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system within an institution of
higher education is to serve as a system of record for all interactions while also synchronizing the
many systems, processes and platforms to a series of strategic objectives. At the most fundamental,
foundational level, an ERP system is a system of record, tracking all transactions, activities, and
interchanges between and within departments to ensure information accuracy and fidelity across a
learning institution (Okunoye, Frolick, Crable, 2006). ERP systems are moving away from being
monolithic in scope, focused on the broadest and most common processes to concentrating on
specific, highly customizable workflows throughout institutions of higher education. This shift in
ERP system design is leading to more agile, responsive ERP system components that can more
accurately align to the changing needs of stakeholders throughout learning institutions (Fowler,
Gilfillan, 2003). The intent of this analysis is to evaluate how the functional and technical
architectures of ERP systems are shifting from being purely functionally based to supporting roles
based access and use in higher education (Chen, Razi, Tarn, 2009). This is a critical development in
the maturation of ERP platforms in higher education as it is allowing for the aligning of student
modules

The Black Cat Pluto s Transformation
The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe is about an unnamed narrator who claims to be sane, but
ironically tells the story of his transformation from a compassionate individual into a murderer.
The narrator lives with his caring wife and many pets, including a large black cat named Pluto.
The friendship between the narrator and Pluto changes when the narrator heavily indulges in
alcohol. His intemperance takes a toll on his psychological well being, as it sparks in him a spirit
of perverseness: doing something that is wrong just for the sake of being wrong. This force, in the
same way, allows the narrator to deal with his drunkenness through logical reasoning, which
motivates him to murder Pluto. The narrator then invites into his home a new cat... Show more

it shows him so much affection. He complains that the [cat s] evident fondness for [him] rather

presence is the consequence that he must pay for murdering Pluto. The overwhelming guilt eats
away at him and ultimately drives him insane. He feels the urge to kill Pluto s successor so he
no longer has to feel this agony. As the narrator and his wife are walking down the stairs, the cat
nearly trips him. This small accident provokes the narrator to relentlessly grab an axe to kill the
cat. However, he struggles to do so, as he is unexpectedly stopped by the grasp of his wife s
hand. As a result of his impetuous nature and perverse state of mind, [he] withdrew [his] arm
from her grasp and buried the axe in her brain (11). There is no real reason for the to attempt to
kill the cat that did nothing but offer him love. Thus, it is evident that his mind, body, and soul are
taken over by an uncontrollable perverseness that causes him to lose sight of what is good or bad,
and what is right or wrong. He no longer thinks about what he is doing, but rather, his actions are
impulses of the human heart, which allow him to

Should Children Be Restricted To Media Screens Analysis
In my opinion children should not be restricted from spending time in front of media screens.
One reason why children should nt be restricted to media screens is because teconology gives
children who are visual learners acces to educational videos where they would learn faster than
reading about it. Another reason is because since 2015 the American Academy of Pediatrics
(AAP) changed their guidelines for children screen watching. They now support children and
parents to play video games together. Also children have showed researchers that watching TV

He states there are lower pleasures that are shared with animals, mostly physical, usually short

The s Theory Of Internal Morality
Intro
Wishful blindness is a lot more common than pure dishonesty it is when someone knowingly stays
oblivious to dishonesty occurring
Becker s theory (SMORC) is that decisions about dishonesty are based on a cost benefit analysis
An increase of police and punishments won t necessarily decrease dishonesty
SMORC isn t necessarily true because people have internal morality that also governs their
decisions
Taking little by little is much more common than someone taking a huge amount
I know for a fact that I have looked the other way when something dishonest was going on just so
that we could benefit, and at the time my conscience was convincing me that it wasn t cheating. So I
can understand how common wishful blindness really is.
I m certain that I don t weigh the costs and benefits on everything that I do, so I tend to agree with
Ariely s theory of internal morality being more plausible than SMORC
Something that I thought of about the stealing bit by bit part was the whole idea of pyramid
schemes, where you take little by little from certain people and make huge amounts of profit while
doing so.
Chapter 1
Does a study on how students cheat using the matrix experiment
Finds that many cheat by a little but few cheat by a lot
When more money got involved the amount of cheating dropped (internal morality)
When people were less likely to be caught the level of cheating remained the same
The thought of getting caught doesn t really affect when someone might cheat

Symptoms And Symptoms Of A Mental Disorder
A mental disorder is a diagnosis of a behavioral or mental pattern that can cause suffering or a
poor ability to function in ordinary life. Such features may be persistent, relapsing and remitting,
or occur as a single episode. Many disorders have been described, with signs and symptoms that
vary widely between specific disorders.
The causes of mental disorders are often unclear. Theories may incorporate findings from a range
of fields. Mental disorders are usually defined by a combination of how a person behaves, feels,
perceives or thinks.
Services are based in psychiatric hospitals or in the community, and assessments are carried out by
psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and clinical social workers, using various methods but often ...

DSM IV precedes the definition with caveats, stating that, as in the case with many medical terms,
mental disorder lacks a consistent operational definition that covers all situations , noting that
different levels of abstraction can be used for medical definitions, including pathology,
symptomology, deviance from a normal range, or etiology, and that the same is true for mental
disorders, so that sometimes one type of definition is appropriate, and sometimes another,
depending on the situation. Edward Theodore Gein was an American murderer and body snatcher.
His crimes, committed around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin, gathered widespread
notoriety after authorities discovered Gein had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and
fashioned trophies and keepsakes from their bones and skin. Gein confessed to killing two
women tavern owner Mary Hogan on December 8, 1954, and a Plainfield hardware store owner,
Bernice Worden, on November 16, 1957. Initially found unfit for trial, after confinement in a
mental health facility, in 1968 Gein was found guilty but legally insane) and Augusta Wilhelmine

Fertility Drugs Essay
Fertility Drugs
Most men and women are raised thinking that eventually they will marry and have children. What
happens when a couple gets married and wants to have a child and finds out that after several
times of having unprotected sex there is no pregnancy? The finger is usually pointed at the woman
but in some cases it can be due to the man. In a woman s case, the problem is usually that she is
not ovulating normally and in a man s case he might have low sperm count. These are the problems
that are most heard of but there are other factors that can cause infertility. An anxious couple
quickly turns to science to try and find a solution to their problem. Although taking fertility drugs is
the solution , it can be quite strenuous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that women are usually the ones that suffer the most when dealing with infertility. For
some women, motherhood is a large part of their image of themselves as females. Men tend not to
be pressured the same way to become fathers. Most men are able to deal with this matter better
because they are brought up to repress their feelings. (www.babycenter.com) If it is known that the
fertility problem is his then a man s image of himself will begin to suffer. Infertile couples end up on
an emotional roller coaster because they begin to live their life in month to month cycles of hope
and disappointment that revolve around ovulation calendars and menstruation.
(www.babycenter.com) They also begin to deal with financial issues because the treatment is
expensive and requires holding off on extra expenses in order to save money.
What are the causes of infertility? All of the cause that will be named were taken from the Major
Causes of Infertility Chart from www.babycenter.com . In the following I will only mention the
condition and the definition but they also provide symptom and solution information. Women:
Condition: Endometriosis This condition, in which endometrial tissue (the uterine lining that sheds
with each monthly period) grows outside the uterus. Condition: Ovulation problems Any condition
(usually hormonal) that prevents the release of a mature

The Canterbury Tales
The Canterbury Tales Corruption in the Church Chaucer lived in a time dictated by religion and
religious ideas in which he uses The Canterbury Tales to show some of his views. Religion
played a significant role in fourteenth century England and also in Chaucer s writing. His ideas
of the Church are first seen in The Prologue, and he uses seven religious persons to show the
influence of the religion in his writing. Although many of his characters appear to portray part of
the corruption in the Church, he does give a small example in which one can conclude that he is
speaking in praise. The Friar, who lived off begging, appears to live a lowly existence, while
Chaucer refers to the papacy in writing, he had a special license from... Show more content on

Chaucer makes forceful insults in his character explication. The Rule of good St. Benet or St.
Maur/ As old and strict he tended to ignore (Chaucer 7.) A monk is supposed to have a strong
authority in the Church, but Chaucer explains that he breaks the written laws and precedents set
by people recognized as Saints and highly acclaimed people. The Monk is a lazy, disgusting man
who lived a dishonest and imprudent life. The Pardoner and Summoner appear together in The
Prologue. They further illustrate an example of Chaucer s awareness of a defiled Church. Chaucer
provides humor to his description of the Summoner in that he d allow just for a quart of wine /Any
good lad to keep a concubine (Chaucer 20.) This means that a person who disobeys the Church
without seeking repentance can easily bribe the Summoner, in that he will overlook the situation.
Chaucer writes about the Pardoner that by his flatteries and prevarication/ Made monkey of the
priest and congregation (Chaucer 22.) This is another direct insult to the Church at the time.
Although the Pardoner represents the lowly side of the Church, Chaucer balances it out with a
highly appraise of the Parson. He appears into the prologue before the Pardoner and the
Summoner, and he clearly is a perfect illustration of the Church, which should be followed over the
other corrupt religious men. Chaucer uses the Parson to show the Church s power and

Slow Response To Fashion Trends Essay
Marketing Problem Slow Response to Market Trends The target customers of Esprit is youngsters,
however, its products life cycle is too long that cannot chase the global market fashion trends.
Therefore, its market positioning is unclear for customers. Also, it can only provide basic items due
to its slow response to fashiontrends. Consequently, its products cannot satisfy customers wants
and needs. Holdings reported a 15.7% rise in net profit to HK$1.87 billion for six months ended
31/12/2005 that was at the low end of market forecast. It was mainly attributable to weak
performance of its Women s Casual and Collection lines. Recommendation Fast Fashion Fast

Recommendation Define Target Customers and Develop Clear Product Lines Marketing
department should have a detail research and define target customers. For instance, department
may set up suggestion boxes in shops or questionnaire online in order to collect opinion from
customers. Another way is hire market research companies to find out customers preferences. After
conducted customers preferences, clear product lines should be developed as those existing are
overlapped in styles. Therefore, similar product lines should be eliminated and combined into one
to save cost and meet target customers preferences. For example, edc man and edc esprit can be
combined as they are undeniably similar to each other.
Problem Weak AdvertisingEsprit has seldom type of advertising, so it should development the new
advertising. Importantly, the density of its advertisement is low and the image of the advertisement
is deviated from trends. Investment in advertising is too low, for example, their spokesmen are not
well known compared to the spokesmen hired by their counterparts. Recommendation Promotion
To boost Esprit s promotion, some promotion strategies will be developed. Primarily, arts
department should be reformed in order to build a fashionable image by the advertisements. Also,
the print ads should be published in high end fashion magazines, like Vogue and Elle. Massive
posters can be hung up

Solar System and Gravity
The Effects of Gravity
There are some people who worry that when they re outside, if they don t keep a
good grip on the ground, they ll just go flinging off into space. They needn t really worry
about this, because gravity generally keeps that sort of thing from happening. The thing is,
no one is really sure what causes gravity, but the effects have been studied by many
physicists and astronomers. Three of the more obvious effects of gravity are things falling
down, weight, and the the moon and planets staying in their orbits.
Things fall down. People have generally grown to accept that if one lets go of
one s prized and valuable textbook when walking through a mud puddle, the book will

So, too, the moon continuously falls around the Earth, and
the planets fall around the Sun. Each of these objects balances the Sun s force of gravity
with its own momentum, that is, with its innate tendency to keep moving in the same
direction at the same speed. Take away the Sun s force of gravity, and the planets would
sail into space, in whatever dircetion at whatever speed they happen to have. Take away a
planet s momentum, perhaps with a giant hand that stops it in orbit, and it would head
straight for the Sun, drawn by the Sun s gravitational force. But, because both gravity and
momentum are at work, the planets fall , not down, but around, forever as they move in
elliptical, but nearly circular, orbits.
Working with insight that has never been exceeded since, Isaac Newton showed
that by making one simple assumption, that all objects in the universe attract one another
in accordance with a simple relationship, he could explain the fall of objects to the ground,
the moon s orbit around the Earth, and the planets motions around the Sun. The
relationship Newton conceived was this: Every object attracts every other object with an
amount of force that varies in proportion to the product of the two objects masses, and in
inverse proportion to the square of the distance between the centers of the objects. It is
plain to see that gravity is quite important. The

How Does Hester Prynne Create Tension In Chapter 3
In chapter 3, the readers are introduced to a mysterious new character, and tension appears. As
Hester continues to endure her punishment at the pillory, she stares down from the platform and
notices a strange man among the crowd, standing next to a Native American. Although, by a
seemingly careless arrangement of his heterogeneous garb, he had endeavored to conceal or abate
the peculiarity, it was sufficiently evident to Hester Prynne, that one of this man s shoulders rose
higher than the other. Hester instantly recognizes the man by the deformity which he carries on
one of his shoulders. In fact, this is not the first time the reader is introduced to this man, he is
briefly referred to back in chapter 2, when Hester attempts to avoid further shaming and finds
refuge in her memories: There she beheld another countenance, of a man well stricken in years, a
pale, thin, scholar like visage, with eyes dim and bleared by the lamp light that had served them to
pore over many ponderous books.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This figure of the study and the cloister, as Hester Prynne s womanly fancy failed not to recall,
was slightly deformed, with the left shoulder a trifle higher than the right. It is improbable that the
figure s similarity to the one mentioned in her memories is a mere coincidence, especially by the
way Hester reacts when she spots him. Again, at the first instant of perceiving that thin visage, and
the slight deformity of the figure, she pressed her infant to her bosom, with so convulsive a force
that the poor babe uttered another cry of

CBT And Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)
Final Project
Requiring no form of an invitation, the challenges that individuals face throughout a lifespan are
least likely to receive a warm reception. These obstacles often cause an elevation of emotions and
negative modifications to behavior which requires positive and effective decision making methods
in order to overcome. Although trial and error through experience is often summed up by saying
experience is the best teacher (Speake, 2015), studies over the years reveal positive effects from
educating adults on how to make better decisions with the use of skills acquired in Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) training. Albert Ellis
(1955) designed CBT and REBT methods to help clients become equipped with the acquired
CBT and REBT skills so he or she can use a pacified temperament and a clear perceptional view
of his or her problematic situation (Ellis, 1955; Albert Ellis Institute, 2014; Leong, 2008).
However, with such an effective method for adults to use for conquering obstacles, at what age
should these coping methods used in CBT and REBT be introduced to ... Show more content on

Cultural Differences Case Study
Executive Summary
Cultural differences, can manifest and accentuate personal and professional mannerism. A French
manager named Chalon, with 18 years of multicultural management experience, upon moving to the
United States encounters difficulties with his management style. In order to observe the
relationship between management and cultural differences, we explored: communication; leadership
and group management roles in a multicultural environment; alternative solutions such as mapping,
bridging and integrating (MBI); freezing, pleasing or teasing leadership; effective feedback. The
ideas are a subset in evaluating cultural differences in management, but will serve as helpful
development for cultural intelligence for Chalon.
1.Introduction
Chalon, with 18 years of experience managing teams across six countries, moved to the U.S. as a
manager of Michelin in Greenville. To his surprise, he received lots of complaints from his
subordinates, which led to questions about his own style and abilities, which had made him so
successful in the past. This report aims to find out problems he faced in cross cultural environment
due to communication, leadership and management and suggest solutions for the same.

Three Characteristics Of The Earth, Moon, And Sun
The Earth, Moon, and Sun are three of the most unique and incredible celestial bodies in the entire
universe. Each serves a distinct purpose and has remarkable characteristics that allow them to work
and coincide with one another in such a complex way. All three bodies interact and work together to
create an organized and continuous system that scientists continue to research and study. There are
various processes and techniques the Earth, Moon, and Sunpossess that help to identify and
characterise each one as well as the interactions between them. The interactions between the Earth,
Moon, and Sun manage the ocean s currents and tides, climate, weather, and seasons.
The Sun, a star, is hot ball of glowing gases at the center of our solar system (nasa.gov/sun). It s
heat and energy sustain the life we have on Earth. Without it, we would not be able to survive. The
Sun warms the entire planet, reaching the Earth s surface, oceans, and atmosphere. The heat and
energy from the Sun is what essentially drives the weather and climates (windows2universe.org).
The orientation of the Earth to the Sun is what creates the Earth s seasons. Depending on what
hemisphere you reside in, the season and weather patterns vary. If the hemisphere you live in is
pointed towards the Sun, it is summer. If it is directed away from the Sun, it is winter. This is due
to the tilt of Earth s axis.
However, the Sun not only impacts Earth, but the other planets and the rest of our solar system as

  • 2. Strategic Management for Travel and Tourism Introduction After examining different theories of organizational strategy we were able to apply each case to our company and work. We also learned that there are two dominant methodologies, categorized as planned/analytical and emergent approaches. These strategies provide much knowledge and advice as to how to improve our organization. However, it is important to remember that these theories are not perfect. They do not encompass every organizational situation and there are a lot of circumstantial assumptions made as well. In the following discussion we will analyze the advantages and disadvantages between these strategic theories. In addition I will reflect on how these approaches may be used in my own real world situation. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Real world application As Hines (2004) points out, real world strategies are neither purely planned nor purely emergent. Realized strategies are a combination of both deliberate and emergent strategies (pg.197). I see benefits in both approaches, with a mix being the most advantageous and appropriate in my industry/work. Due to the nature of our products and market (games and technology) things are constantly in flux. Having a degree of planning is necessary to provide focus and direction for the strategy of my organization. This can also assist in the evaluation and analysis of the decision performance. My organization commonly uses this deliberate strategy in many situations. Most recently when we chose to diversify our product line by investing in and releasing games for the mobile platform. Most dominant however, is the emergent strategy, which allows us sufficient flexibity to learn and adapt to changes in our environment. Supported by other approaches, I believe my organization can continue being successful. These other supports include what Stonehouse (2002) calls a competitive positioning and resources/competence based strategy. The competitive positioning approach emphasizes the importance of not only the environment but the need of analyzing your business in the context of its industry. The last support outlet (resources /competence), focuses on the competitive advantage of your business; what are the company specific resources and how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Merchant Of Venice And The Crucible Ashwin Thomas Ms. Dunlop ENG 2D1 22 December 2015 Resentment, the cause of destruction Power is something that every human would like to acquire. The desire to earn power can be so important for some individuals that they use violence to acquire it. Violence can often cause jealousy, greed and hatred for each another. It is the violence of many humans that can lead them into doing such unforgivable acts. In both the plays, William Shakespeare and Arthur Miller with their famous novels, The Merchant of Veniceand The Crucible, have shown how Grudges and Rivalries can cause such destruction in the lives of the people and the society in this play. In The Merchant of Venice, Grudges and Personal Rivalries in the trial scene has clearly been expressed with Shylock and Antonio. The central part and the twist of this novel are primarily caused by the rivalries between Shylock and Antonio. The merry bond that Antonio signed to help his dearest friend, Bassanio, was the main reason of the trial scene. According to Antonio, Content in faith. I ll seal to such a bond, and say there is much kindness in the Jew (1.3.163 164) The bond which Antonio had willingly accepted was that if he failed to pay back 3 thousand ducats in 3 months, Shylock had the right to cut a pound of flesh from his body. As Antonio was a rich merchant and had plenty of ships coming in, with 9 times the money of the loan, he found no difficulty in accepting the bond. However, times were unfortunate for ... • 8. Essay On Rural Areas Defining Rural Areas for Statistical Purposes The vagaries around the rural concept must yield to an objective form in order to have consistent measurement. Since this chapter draws primarily on data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), their definition of rural is consistent and convenient. Since 2006, NCES has used the same urban centric locale definitions used by the US Census Bureau. Fittingly, under this urban centric definition, rural areas include all those located outside of places the Census calls urban. The urban umbrella term includes three locales: cities, suburbs, and towns. Each of these is broken into three subtypes: large, midsize, and small. City locales include territories within an urbanized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this reason, this chapter uses the entire rural locale instead of rural sublevels. One wrinkle in NCES s classification system is that while every school can be specifically accounted for as belonging to one locale, school districts can include schools from different locale classifications. For example, a district classified as suburban might include a number of individual schools that are classified as rural. Despite the partial mismatch between the locale of some schools and the districts they belong to, there are valuable reasons to compare school districts by their predominant locale. For instance, districts, rather than schools, are the ones that often deal with issues like transportation or providing opportunities for advanced course taking, which pose unique challenges in rural areas. In order to compare districts by locale, the chapter uses NCES district categorizations which assign a locale based on the predominant locale the district s schools. Of course, this classification system groups together a large number of schools into each locale category that are far from homogeneous. To illustrate differences between locales and across rural areas, select data points are broken out by locale ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Insurable Interest Essay What is Insurable Interest in a Maritime Insurance Policy The term insurable interest refers to the benefit (or interest) a person has in an insured object (or person as in a life insurance insurable interest). This benefit can refer to a financial benefit, among others. A person has insurable interest in a thing when he or she would experience some kind of loss (financial or otherwise) if the thing were to be damaged or lost. Say that you have piece of jewelry in your home that is also a family heirloom. If someone were to steal it (or if you were to drop it down the sink, or in the toilet, or even lose it in the garbage) you would suffer different kinds of loss, both financial and emotional. Thus, you have an insurable interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no requirement of insurable interest when the contract is made. This section also allows the subject matter of a marine policy to be insured lost or not lost . This means that it is possible for the insured to recover under a marine policy even if he acquired his interest after the loss has occurred, unless he was aware of the loss and the insurer was not. These rules reflect the practices of marine trade where cargo frequently changes ownership in the course of transit. In this case there is a transfer of rights i.e assignment of interest. Assignment of Interest may be done by endorsement in blank that is to sign the policy. Alternatively, this can be also done by signing in favor of one other person. In turn, only that person can then claim to be the rightful owner. The law permits this unless the policy states otherwise. However, hull policies prohibit assignment even though the marine act promotes this transfer of rights. An interesting fact is that companies can have insurable interest in their workers, both in higher ups and in those lower down the ladder. There has been some controversy about this recently, where companies took life insurance policies out on their employees without their employees consent. In these instances, the companies collected the policies on their deceased employees, who sometimes did not even work for them anymore. Of course companies have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Project Background Of Vehicle Safety The Project Background Vehicle safety is of upmost importance for automotive manufactures as having an unsafe vehicle can mean the company will not be able to sell its new vehicle to the public. Each country has their own legislation of vehicle safety which manufacture has to abide by and produce documentation to prove that the vehicle is safe, in order to sell its vehicle in that particular country. Independent testing organisations, such as Euro NCAP, perform a number of safety tests on new vehiclesto confirm that the vehicle conforms to legislation [1]. These tests also score the vehicle on different safety aspects. Some manufactures use this score as a unique selling point of the vehicle so it is very important that it achieves a good score [2]. One procedure tests vehicle rollover which is a particular risk to SUV s as they tend to have a higher centre of gravity than other vehicles. This is a particular hazard as SUV s are becoming more popular in today s society [3]. Vehicle roll over fatality accounts for 35% of all passenger vehicle fatalities in the US in 2012 with 56% of fatalities occurring in SUVs [3]. The percentage of fatalities in SUV rollover has reduced since 2003 however more research is needed to reduce it further. Whilst the test is carefully designed there is always some chance that the vehicle will rollover even if it has passed the test, thus endangering life. Therefore more research is needed to accurately simulate vehicle dynamics during many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Taking a Look at Marfan Syndrome Marfan Syndrome, which is named after Antoine Marfan who first described the disorder in 1896, is a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissues found throughout the body. This syndrome can affect many different parts of the body, but the most commonly affected are the heart, blood vessels, bones, joints, respiratory system, nervous system, and eyes. Thankfully, a person s intelligence is never affected. Marfan syndromeaffects people from all races and ethnic backgrounds, and this often makes it hard to detect. It is a pretty rare genetic disorder affecting only about 1 in every 5,000 people. This syndrome is from a mutation of a gene on chromosome 15 and this causes problems in the production of fibrillin 1 which is a protein that is an important part of connective tissue. The name for the gene is FBN1. Basically, it is the glue that helps to support the tissues in the human body. A child born to a parent with this syndrome has a 50% of having it. However, in the remaining 25%, neither parent has the disease which gives them a 1 in 10,000 chance of having a child with this disorder. When a child of two unaffected parents is born with it then the genetic mutation occurs in either the egg or sperm cell at the time of conception. The defect of this glue leads to phenotypes such as a thin, lanky build, flexible joints, sunken eyes, a chest that is sunken in or bulges out, curvature of the spine to one side (scoliosis), and flat feet. There are other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Explanation Of Solubility Research What is solubility? Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance, the solute, to dissolve in a solvent. (Science Daily, 2014) Solubility occurs around people throughout their everyday life, and is exemplified through their food and drinks, and even the air that surrounds them. Solubilityis a complex idea that can be understood in a simpler form, i.e., having hot coffee and adding sugar to it. It appears that the hot coffee melts the salt, but deeper beyond the surface the hot coffee molecules break apart the sugar molecules; the molecules are broken down, because of the increase in temperature that causes the molecules to collide harder. The collision is caused by the faster, vibrating molecules in the solution. The solute (salt) is the substance that dissolves in the solvent (water) and it depends on a few things: temperature, volume, type of solvent and concentration. The solubility of most salts can be found on a solubility curve and it expresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second law of thermodynamics is a general principle that expresses how some solutes dissolve in decreased temperatures, because it places constraints upon the direction of heat transfer and the attainable efficiencies of heat engines (R Nave). In other words, in all energy exchanges if no energy enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial state. (Farabee, 2010) The second law is commonly known as the law of increased entropy, a measure of unusable energy within a closed or isolated system and it is a system of chaos. (All about science, 2002) The kinetic energy of the solution increases with the temperature and it allows the particles to slide between each other; It can be understood by imagining a vibrating molecule engulfing a regular molecule and breaking it ... Consequently, more often than not, adolescents do not receive a diagnosis or support with their struggles. The National Survey on Drug use and Health found in 2014, 11. 4 percent of adolescents aged 12 to 17 (2. 8 million adolescents) had an MDE during the past year (SAMSHA). The pressures and struggles of being an adolescent can only be exacerbated by major depressive episodes or even a diagnosis of major depressive disorder. Adolescents require support for their experiences and attention needs to be brought to their trials. . Major depression not only affects adolescents social and academic lives, but influence, directly, their actions and decisions as well. Adolescents can partake in numerous actions to cope with their feelings of depression such as taking drugs. The National Survey on Drug use and Health found that, Youths with a past year MDE in 2014 also were more likely than those without an MDE to be users of marijuana, nonmedical users of psychotherapeutics, users of inhalants, and users of hallucinogens in the past year (SAMSHA). The survey shows that MDE can put adolescents at a vulnerability to participate in risky behaviors. The world of drugs can be an outlet to deal with depression. This outlet though may even lead to a struggle with the very substances used to cope with their depression. The National Survey on Drug use and Health found as well that, An estimated 340,000 adolescents aged 12 to 17 in 2014 had a co occurring MDE and an SUD [substance use disorder] in the past year in 2014 (SAMSHA). You are automatically a member of the POA when you buy a property in Windrush Creek POA and as such there are certain rules that apply to all properties in the association. Some of those rules are holdovers from the equestrian concept. Because there were bridle paths around, behind and between each property, no fences were allowed. TO WHAT EXTENT IS THIS TRUE IN THESE AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE? The historian s task of developing an understanding of the past involves the study of the human past as described in the written documents and objects left by human beings related to a particular point or period in time. However, there is always the problem of authenticity of evidence and the interpretation of events that may or may not be accurate or relevant. Over time more and different evidence often appears and must be evaluated and compared to existing sources and their interpretation. Human science puts human experience in context and its aim is to explain human behavior by creating theories to predict it and then solve problems identified by those predictions considering them in terms of human self knowledge that allows us to understand ourselves as people. It is very important for us as people to know ourselves: where knowing who we are and where we stand means knowing the things that distinguish us from other people, by knowing our true nature as humans. • 28. The Effect Of Ph Level On Starch Digestion Ankita Batra Section 13156 The Effect of pH Level on Starch Digestion by the Activity of Amylase and the Examination of the Rate of Starch Disappearance Using Iodine Solution Introduction A key enzyme found in the saliva of humans, alpha amylase, is involved in the early stages of starch digestion. This type of amylase is classified by its glycosidic bonds and is mainly found in the bodies of animals. The digestion of starch will begin with the enzyme in saliva and will continue to break down starch as the food bolus reaches the duodenum (Butterworth et al., 2011). Therefore, alpha amylase is a significant component in the digestion process and also plays a major role in energy storage. Starch is the main source of carbohydrate in the human diet, so it is essential to have an enzyme that assists in the efficient hydrolysis of starch into sugars. Amylase catalyzes this reaction by breaking the glycosidic bonds present, which results in maltose, a disaccharide, glucose, and varying lengths of oligosaccharides with alpha limit dextrins and alpha configurations (Marini, I. 2006). Although the amylase enzyme is abundant from the secretion of the pancreas and salivary glands, it can also be obtained from different sources such as other mammals, plants, and microorganisms. Since there are many sources for obtaining amylase, the enzyme also has many applications in industrial processes. Amylase acquired from bacteria and fungi can be beneficial in the chemical and pharmaceutical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the poem, Hopkins presents the Victorian fixation on progress and change not as an improvement, but rather as a regression from a constructive communion with God s glory as found in the natural world. Here, Hopkins establishes a connection between God s grandeur and light, which he continues in the second stanza with his description of the sunrise brought forth by the possibility of rebirth as well as continuity in nature. Although the sun sets in the black west, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs (12). The sun, a source of energy so far superior to any source to any man made source, becomes an expression of God s care for the Earth, offering the possibility of freshness and growth despite all of man s abuses. Hopkins outlines some of these abuses in the first stanza, in which a rather bleak picture of man s interaction with the earth contrasts to the brightness of God s light. During the Victorian Age of mass production, people gradually drew away from small rural farms into the dismal urban world of factories and mills. Hopkins laments that such so called progress has drawn man away from the land. The sun, God s ultimate source of light and life, shines upon soil that Is bare now, abandoned for the urban life (8). That Hopkins chooses to say now in reference to the barren earth suggests a dramatic and negative change from the past. • 34. Assessing the Functional and Technical Architecture of... Assessing the Functional and Technical Architecture of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems In Higher Education Introduction The foundational role of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system within an institution of higher education is to serve as a system of record for all interactions while also synchronizing the many systems, processes and platforms to a series of strategic objectives. At the most fundamental, foundational level, an ERP system is a system of record, tracking all transactions, activities, and interchanges between and within departments to ensure information accuracy and fidelity across a learning institution (Okunoye, Frolick, Crable, 2006). ERP systems are moving away from being monolithic in scope, focused on the broadest and most common processes to concentrating on specific, highly customizable workflows throughout institutions of higher education. This shift in ERP system design is leading to more agile, responsive ERP system components that can more accurately align to the changing needs of stakeholders throughout learning institutions (Fowler, Gilfillan, 2003). The intent of this analysis is to evaluate how the functional and technical architectures of ERP systems are shifting from being purely functionally based to supporting roles based access and use in higher education (Chen, Razi, Tarn, 2009). This is a critical development in the maturation of ERP platforms in higher education as it is allowing for the aligning of student modules ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My mother was working two jobs, at one point even three, just so we could keep our house. After a while of struggles it finally appeared as though things were finally turning around. My father acquired a job with Alpacka Raft and things were normal. It was too soon to be optimistic though because not too long after my father received his new job my mother got badly injured. She had slipped and fell on ice and due to her injury from the accident she is unemployed. I ve seen money at its worst and at its best. Everything it can provide and everything it can take away. • 43. The s Theory Of Internal Morality Intro Wishful blindness is a lot more common than pure dishonesty it is when someone knowingly stays oblivious to dishonesty occurring Becker s theory (SMORC) is that decisions about dishonesty are based on a cost benefit analysis An increase of police and punishments won t necessarily decrease dishonesty SMORC isn t necessarily true because people have internal morality that also governs their decisions Taking little by little is much more common than someone taking a huge amount I know for a fact that I have looked the other way when something dishonest was going on just so that we could benefit, and at the time my conscience was convincing me that it wasn t cheating. So I can understand how common wishful blindness really is. I m certain that I don t weigh the costs and benefits on everything that I do, so I tend to agree with Ariely s theory of internal morality being more plausible than SMORC Something that I thought of about the stealing bit by bit part was the whole idea of pyramid schemes, where you take little by little from certain people and make huge amounts of profit while doing so. Chapter 1 Does a study on how students cheat using the matrix experiment Finds that many cheat by a little but few cheat by a lot When more money got involved the amount of cheating dropped (internal morality) When people were less likely to be caught the level of cheating remained the same The thought of getting caught doesn t really affect when someone might cheat Behavior ... The thing is, no one is really sure what causes gravity, but the effects have been studied by many physicists and astronomers. Take away the Sun s force of gravity, and the planets would sail into space, in whatever dircetion at whatever speed they happen to have. Take away a planet s momentum, perhaps with a giant hand that stops it in orbit, and it would head straight for the Sun, drawn by the Sun s gravitational force. But, because both gravity and momentum are at work, the planets fall , not down, but around, forever as they move in elliptical, but nearly circular, orbits. Although, by a seemingly careless arrangement of his heterogeneous garb, he had endeavored to conceal or abate the peculiarity, it was sufficiently evident to Hester Prynne, that one of this man s shoulders rose higher than the other. Hester instantly recognizes the man by the deformity which he carries on one of his shoulders. All three bodies interact and work together to create an organized and continuous system that scientists continue to research and study. There are various processes and techniques the Earth, Moon, and Sunpossess that help to identify and characterise each one as well as the interactions between them. The interactions between the Earth, Moon, and Sun manage the ocean s currents and tides, climate, weather, and seasons.
