Herma The Shepherd Research Paper
In modern times he is sometimes referred to as The Demon, The Devil, or The Ruler of Hell.
These are titles given to him to show his purpose in most of the modern world. Today he is
portrayed as the evil ruler of Hell who seeks the destruction of Mankind. This belief began in
early Christianity, and was reinforced by Lutherans, Protestants, and Catholics alike. Before the
second century ages it was thought that Satan and his demons could possess your body and cause
physical ailments such as blindness, impotency, and madness. This change had a great deal to do
with Herma s The Shepherd where everyone is depicted as having an angel and a Demon guiding
them at all time. The angel responsible for all the good, and the demon for the bad. This led

European Relations with Native Americans
As the Europeans arrived on American shores, they encountered a variety of native peoples.
Some were living in advanced civilizations; others were living as simple hunter gatherer cultures.
By the time of the first European contact, in 1492, European settlers interacted with the native
peoples in different ways. The Spanish ruled the natives as conquered people, forcing many to work
on agricultural estates. The French developed a harmonious relationship with the natives. The
English approach fell somewhere between the two polar European powers.
The Spanish settled in present day Mexico and Peru; they encountered the advanced civilizations
of the Aztec and Inca Empires. After diseases wiped out most of the native population, millions
survived. The Spanish incorporated the survivors as laborers for their own empire. Eventually,
after forced labor, the survivors died from exhaustion. Few Spanish families settled the empire so
the group of explorers and soldiers intermarried with the natives. After enslaving indigenous peoples
in the Caribbean and the southern parts of the Americas to grow crops and mine for gold, silver,
and other valuables, the Spanish moved into North America where they concentrated their efforts in
what is now the southwestern and southeastern United States. In present day Florida, Spain
established a military post at San AugustГn, but only a small

Rhetorical Analysis Of Food Inc
Have you ever been in a rush, low on cash, and looking for something to eat so you didn t really
have a choice but to grab a burger with fries at your local fast food place? Have you ever paused or
stopped to think about where the burger really came from, or the process that went in to be made?
The FoodInc documentary investigates and exposes the American industrial production of meat,
grains, and vegetables. Robert Kenner the producer of the film makes allegations in this film and
he explores how food industries are deliberately hiding how and where it is our food is coming
from. He emphasizes that we should find out where our food comes from and why is it that the
food industrydoes not want us to know. Food Inc. does not only uses compelling images, such as
hundreds of baby chickens being raised in spaces where they do not see an inch of sunlight, it also
includes the speeches and stories of farmers, families, government officials, and victims of the food
industry. The four current problems facing today s food industry are the reformed usage of the false
advertisement within the labeling of products , mistreatment of farmed animals, and the harmful
chemical in our meats. The documentary Food Inc uses very persuasive tactics that demonstrates
strong elements of pathos, ethos, and logos make an effective appeal, while uncovering the dark
side of the food industry.

As previously explained the two inimitable features of this helmet namely the Uvicator Sensor
Disc that protects workers from getting over exposed to UV radiation, as well the fully rotatable

prominent price difference (amounting to over 55% when G3000 Uvicator is compared to the
closest comparable variant: the High Visibility variant of G3000 Solaris), which in turn are
responsible for the G3000 Uvicator becoming an exception to 3M s market positioning

Analysis Of Chesterton And His Literary Masterpiece
While doing research on G.K. Chesterton and his literary masterpiece, I came upon this question
What is the difference between progress and growth? to which G.K. Chesterton answered The fatal
metaphor of progress, which means leaving things behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of
growth, which means leaving things inside of us. This statement is just one of the plethora of
quotations of a man who never attended any university, and it amazing how he can say something
about everything and say it better than everybody else. This is a journey to understand a genius
and the Nightmare that he is well known for even over one hundred years after it was written.

Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the
academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most
profoundly, powerfully, and effectively.
He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed
from newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality
to show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism.
In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc,
and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life.
From 1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The
Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton
created the Father Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and
numerous articles.
He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical
works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the
drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his major critical works are reviews of Robert
Browning (1903) and Charles Dickens (1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a
number of Belloc s light works.

ACC5TAX Semester 1 2016 Individual Assignment
Introduction
What is Capital Gains Tax?
A capital gain or loss is basically the difference between the what is the cost to acquire an asset
and what is received when that asset is sold. Everyone is entitled to pay tax on the gains made from
the sale of the asset. The capital gain tax is a part of the income tax and is not to be considered as a
separate tax though it has been given a separate name as Capital Gains Tax (CGT).
If a capital loss is incurred the same cannot be claimed against the income, however the same can
be used to reduce the capital gains made in the same financial year. Also if the losses are higher
than the gains over the financial year then the losses can be carried ... Show more content on

Psalm 78 Is The Psalm Of Remembrance
Psalm 78 is the psalm of remembrance. In the beginning, the psalmist commands the attention of
the present age to what we have heard and known. We should not conceal them from our children,
but it is our responsibility to tell the generations to come to praise the Lord about his strength and
wondrous works he has done. This is such a good reminder for me! Sometimes we are influenced
by the value of this world and we pay too much attentions to teach the children the knowledge of the
languages, sciences or arts, but we forget the more important thing is to help our children put their
confidence in Godand fear the Lord since they are still young. In the Psalm 78:9 39, the psalmist
remembers many miracles God has done for the Israel and how God

America s New Immigration Laws
Almost 11 million immigrants are under investigation as of 2017 due to Trump s new immigration
laws (Reuters 1). USA all started with immigrants over 300 years ago and over time restrictions
have been created to limit the immigrant presence in modern day. All these bills and procedures are
being put in action against immigrants, when immigrants are in fact beneficial to America due to
their contributions to the economyand culture.

Immigrants aren t a problem simply fixed by deportation; it s bigger than that it s their lives, family,
businesses. All on the line, not just a simple relocation issue. Not only do they help with
industrializing towns nationwide, but also they help companies worldwide and foreign affairs.
Immigrants are quite beneficial to the American economy, ...immigrants also positively benefit the
economy by increasing demand, spurring investment, and keeping receiving country industries
competitive through enhancing capital productivity (Nadadur 1). They help the economy in
different ways making them one of the reasons for our well established capitalist government with
the opportunity to grow. Immigrants in the United States strengthen foreign affairs because it shows
how welcome they are to people from nations everywhere they aren t exclusive or racist or prejudice
to other countries. Accepting all kinds of immigrants builds a certain kind of relationship with other
countries and their citizens making immigration important to foreign affairs.
Immigrants also provide a lot of jobs for the American economy. Although immigrants make jobs
that require less of an education level lower in quantity, they still provide more jobs, immigration,
which makes the economy stronger and raises wages overall because, while immigrants take jobs,
they also create them. Immigrants afford companies increasing investment and specialization

Abstinence In 1984
In the Novel 1984 by George Orwell there are many connections to modern day society including
the anti sex league which reflects abstinence only sex education. Abstinence only sex education has
been a growing concern in the country lately with instance only advocate Bristol Palin announcing
her pregnancy with her second child out of wedlock.
In the novel the junior Anti Sex League is a club to teach teen girls not to have sex. The Junior
Anti Sex League tells women you shouldn t have sex for pleasure and that sex is to be an
unwanted act only necessary for procreation This is similar to abstinence only sex education which
teaches not having sex outside of marriage, similar to the anti sex league abstinence only education
often teaches that abstinence as the only morally correct option. Similar to the Anti Sex League

advocating the abolition of sex entirely. Intercourse was to be looked on as a slightly disgusting

What Is The Right To Buy Snacks Into The Movie Theater
Is it truly morally sound to bring outside food and drinks into a movie theater? Many people think
that sneaking snacks into the movies okay because the snacks sold at the movies are not as
favorable as snacks they could buy at stores because of the price and limitation of choices. Some
people see that not buying snacks could negatively affect the movie theaterwhile some believe that
bringing their own snacks would not hugely affect the theaters. It is okay to bring snacks into the

Essay The First Man-Made Method of Transportation
It s just a normal day. You wake up, get ready, and rush out the door. An everyday occurrence, yet
without one simple object this daily routine would be drastically different. Consider what you
would do on a cold snowy day, or a wet, rainy day without shoes. What would you do when
working in the weedy, rocky yard without shoes? A lack of shoes instantly makes itself known
when you step out on the icy cold ground or tread on a nice prickly bush. But so what, you say.
After all, shoes only take us practically everywhere we go. There are only entire stores dedicated to
them. Shoes may seem so insignificant, but they are a window into human progression, creativity,
and tastes.

Shoes in the Middle Ages evolved to include drawstrings to tighten shoes for a better fit, similar to
today s laces. Later, creative shoemakers began to sport unique qualities on their shoes, such as
pointy toes, in order to gain employment from rich patrons. This began the era of the diversification
of the shoe (Shoe).
In the 1600s, the sewn on sole became the norm for leather shoes. Inventors followed this by
shoes which fit only the right or left foot and thus could be much more form fitting. In the era of
mass production and industrialization which characterized the 1900s, experimenting producers
started to use other materials for shoes, like synthetic cloth and plastics, raising the general
quality of inexpensive shoes. This allowed more people to be able to afford shoes and made shoe
sizes more uniform. It also led to an explosion of shoe types in the middle part of the 20th century
(Shoe). Today, shoes are designed especially for many new, different purposes, such as athletics, to
be eco friendly, and even to mimic popular culture characters. Some traditional styles continue to
hold sway, as well. Shoes have gone through a long progression of developments to make them
more appealing, comfortable, durable, and useful.
Shoes, to many people, mean only a trip to Walmart to pay for things that don t fit very well and
don t last long enough.

The Fourth Amendment And The 4th Amendment
A persons property is often what they take pride in, which makes it easy to see why the saying a
mans home is his castle is so popular and widely understood. So when the gates of their castle get
knocked down and their treasures taken; the king of the castle is left with nothing to hold as his
own. Americans right to be secure is the moat surrounding their castle, it guarantees Americans
protection against unreasonable search and seizure. The right to be secure is guaranteed in the 4th
amendment of the Bill of Rights, which is a section of the U.S. Constitution listing a citizens
guaranteed rights. The U.S. Constitution was written in 1787 but lacked the support required to be
ratified; as it needed support from 9 of the 13 states prior to its ratification. The constitution received
the backing of its 9th state after adding the Bill of Rights to the Constitution. The addition of a Bill
of Rights was required for the support of many states as one of the largest concerns the states had
with the Constitution was that the Government would have too much power and control over
citizens. So the addition of a Bill or Rights stating what the Government may or may not do as well
as guaranteeing the freedoms and rights of citizens helped end the states concerns. The support
after the addition of the Bill of Rights led to the Constitutions ratification on March 4th, 1789. As

The Current Global Economic Crisis Would Change the Face...
INTRODUCTION TO CIVIL AVIATION
Lucas Lee
Executive Summary
The current global economic crisis has changed the way aviation industry goes about its
business. It has brought about a boom in low cost carriers, which has made travelling by air
cheaper for the masses. Services offered by airlines and airports are also of higher standards to
make people want to travel by air.
The economic downturn has seen a significant drop of investments in the aviation market. Airport
ground handlers and airplane part manufacturers have also had to retrench their workers in order
to counterbalance the poor market. The amount of air traffic is likely to decrease as well, as
people are travelling lesser and choosing cheaper alternatives.

Pratt amp; Whitney, an engine manufacturer for planes, is set to cut 200 jobs in an attempt to
counterbalance the poor market. The big players like Boeing and Airbus may face such problems
in the future even though large amount of orders for the B787 and A380 have been placed. They
may have to come up with better variants in order to keep up their sales.
There would also be a change in the volume of air traffic. The previously busy air traffic may die
down due to the fact that people are travelling lesser. People would also want to travel cheaper.
Hence, instead of taking planes they would choose cheaper means of transportation like trains,
ships and coaches.
With the decrease in amount of flights, ground handlers may have lesser things to do and they may
face retrenchment. Product sales in the airport shops may drop as well since there are lesser people
visiting the airport. Airports may not be earning as much as before and terminals may eventually be
closed to sustain the financial situation.
The face of aviation would have to change in order to sustain the current situation, and the fact that
the economy downturn has already started to show it s effects, the industry has to evolve and
remain relevant to suit the needs of people, and in time to come I believe that aviation would be
forced to become cheaper in order to recover from the current economic crisis.

The Legend Of The Sleepy Hollow By Washington Irving
The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is a tale of supernaturalism written in
Nineteenth Century America during a time when American literature was not yet fully established.
Irving wrote this story with multiple historical events in mind and presents a legend full of
problematic ideas of wealth, greed and rejection. Amongst many other literary elements, Irving
uses the American setting and Sleepy Hollow itself throughout in relation to the development of
the story. The setting in relation to the characters is also an important factor that establishes the
mood for this creepy, supernatural legend. The location of Sleepy Hollow is the basis of the
setting and is influenced by a full range of historical facts and events. This instantly creates a
frame of mind for the readers and prepares them for certain themes. The city of Sleepy Hollow and
its name at first glance describe the story in general very well. Lastly, the setting impacts the
characters throughout and directs the way the characters should be. Without the heavy description
and use of setting, the mood in this story would not be so well founded and the context not as
impactful. The Legend of Sleepy Hollowwould not be the supernatural tale it is without Irving s
focus on the setting.
The location of Sleepy Hollow in the United States is the main setting and impacts the story
dramatically, straight from the beginning to the end. As a reader, it is set from the first sentence
that Sleepy Hollow is

Positive And Negative Constraints Of Virtual Reality In...
The College of Computer Science is a diverse academic community where conversations
surrounding research and innovation are endless. One of such conversations is virtual reality, which
plays a major role in the discourse of my academic community. As one of the major research areas
in this discourse community, people in this community are talking about different ways virtual
realitycan be implemented into classes or throughout campus. Virtual reality has both positive and
negative constraints. One positive constraint is the abundance of virtual reality products that are
created by a wide range of companies. In this academic discourse community, a positive constraint
is everyone researching virtual reality can interact and use the technology for further research in
the field. One negative constraint is that despite these welcomed innovations, virtual reality also
poses some problems, one of them being how expensive the technology is to the average

The Tragedy of Hamlet Essay
The Tragedy of Hamlet
In life the border between sanity and madness is thin and undefined. At best it is a gray area, fuzzy
and unclear. Yet it is this area that Shakespeare so deftly depicts in
The Tragedy of Hamlet. The gray environment he weaves eventually renders it almost impossible to
tell the sane from the insane, the ability to reason ultimately becomes the audience s sole
determiner of a character s mental condition. Thus, Shakespeare is able to successfully tie his
thoughts on reason and emotion to a character s sanity. In the play
Hamlet, by Shakespeare, the main character fits the description for being a tragic hero. A tragic
hero is a character who has experienced life more fully, whether by heroic action

Hamlet is rational enough to realize that the
undiscovered country from whose born/ No traveler returns (3.1.79 80) may hold far worse
realities for him than his present earthly uncertainties. The prince s composure and cool reason
prevent him from taking his own life, or as he puts it, the native hue of resolution/ Is sicklied o
er with the pale cast of thought (3.1.84 85). This view, that Shakespeare believed that suicide
was only a legitimate option to the insane, is supported by evidence that he did not intend
Hamlet to be insane. The most compelling evidence is found in the way Hamlet switches
between being rational and acting mad, according to who he was talking to. For example in
scene two Hamlet acts quite mad for Polonius. The old advisor even remarks upon Hamlet
possessing a happiness that often madness hits on, which reason and/ sanity could not so
prosperously be delivered of (2.2.211 213). Then, only moments later, Hamlet switches gears to
deliver his What a piece of work is man! (2.2.297 314) speech, to Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern. Likewise, his To be or not to be... (3.1.56 90) soliloquy, a rational and coherent
speech on death, is directly followed by the famous Nunnery Scene (3.1.153).

Since moving in with Manning, Victoria had become at times incontinent of urine and a began

Satire On Running
I run. Out of emotion, almost every one you can think of. Love, anger, joy, frustration,
excitement, and so much more. Most people who are not runners, ramble questions along the
lines of How do you enjoy that? , Why is that fun to you , and What s the point? . Running brings
me peace, it s a time to think, a time to pray, and a time to get to know myself better. Yes,
completely exhausting myself is the most relaxing, refreshing part of my day. I run. Between 5
and 8 miles a day, and most of the time my best runs are on the days where I really didn t really

Abundant Thinking On Practice Is Useful For Multiple...
Abundant Thinking in Practice Abundant thinking is useful for multiple aspects of your
everyday life. You can enjoy your good health and be grateful for it, and if you are suffering
from some sort of ailment, you can seek comfort in the fact that it can always be worse. When
sick, we can remember the good health we enjoyed throughout the past and the good health and
fortune of those we care about most, being grateful for it all. It s about perspective; looking on
the bright side of life and seeing the positive rather than the negatives of our respective lots in
life. How can we continue to think abundantly even during hard financial times? What if you
sign a business contract with someone and are somehow scammed out of your money? It s
natural to mourn the loss of your money and focus on what you lack. We don t live in a perfect
world, and there are people out there who take advantage of other people and are out to rip others
off. Handling this situation as an abundant thinker lessens the negative impact of the hardship of
life. Your intent and focus is always on the abundance of happiness in your life, which will help
dispel negative feelings and negative feelings are most unhelpful. You will need to take action to
resolve your situation, and your attitude can vastly improve and ease the rectification process.
Remember your negative feelings can t hurt people who have wronged you. If you give in to
negative feelings, you are the one robbing yourself of abundance and

Equal Pay Act Of 1964 Essay
There are four Acts passed by Congress that were pivotal for equality in the American workforce.
Until these laws were passed by Congress, people of color and woman suffered grave injustices in
the form of hiring, income, promotion, and termination. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended the
Jim Crow laws of the South that promoted segregation and many laws of inequality that plagued
the southern states in America. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 helped establish equal pay for women
in the workforce. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 established litigation for working
pregnant women. The Civil Rights Act of 1991 greater enforced the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and
held organization monetarily responsible for violations of discriminations to minorities. The
learning of these important laws will help an individual better understand their rights as it pertains
to employment in the workforce.

Repercussions In Sports
This article focuses on the severity of contact sport related injuries, more specifically head injuries
and concussions. This has been a hot top throughout many different professional organizations and
it is often discussed how each organization should handle these types of injuries. More recently they
have began to administer tests before each season so that when a head related injuryoccurs, team
doctors can more easily determine whether or not the athlete should return to the field and when
the appropriate time to do so is. Since the repercussions of allowing an athlete to return to quickly
to play can leave long term consequences, professional, college, and even high school teams have
begun to take these injuriesmore seriously by administering these tests. These tests are given
before the season starts ensuring that there has been no injury to the athletes head. After the
season starts, if there is some type of injury related to the head the athlete is given the test at three
different times. These times are 24 hours after injury, 5 days after injury and 10 days after injury.

Sex Selection Reinforces Oppression Of Women
Abortion in China is a very big issue but unfortunately is mostly executed when the sex of the
child is female. Sex selection in China is fostered by a limiting social structure that disallows
women from performing the roles that men perform, and relegates women to a lower status level.
Individual parents and individual families benefit concretely from having a son born into the
family, while society, and girls and women as a group, are harmed by the widespread practice of
sex selection. Sex selection reinforces oppression of women. Sex selection is best addressed by
ameliorating the situations of women and girls, increasing their autonomy, and elevating their
status in society. One might argue that restricting abortion, prohibiting sex selection, and prohibiting
sex determination would eliminate sex selective abortion.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Such practices will turn underground. Sex selective infanticide, and slower death by long term
neglect, could increase. If abortion is restricted, the burden is placed on women seeking abortions
to show that they have a legally acceptable or legitimate reason for a desired abortion, and this
seriously limits women s autonomy. Instead of restricting abortion, banning sex selection, and sex
determination, it is better to address the practice of sex selection by elevating the status of women
and empowering women so that giving birth to a girl is a real and positive option, instead of a
detriment to the parents and family as it is currently. But, if a ban on sex selective abortion or a ban
on sex determination is indeed instituted, then wider social change promoting women s status in
society should be instituted

Reality Is Seemingly Through Reality Essay
What we believe to be impossible to be achieved through reality is often projected in the
unconscious. Freud theorized that our minds repressed desires that could summon emotions such
as guilt or shame, which could lead to what is called wish fulfillment through dreams,
hallucinations, or phases of neurosis. Experiences of intense dreamsequences that involve sexual
relations with family members, or homicide carried out by the individual or others, are examples of
wish fulfillment dreams. Said dreams represent taboos or actions that could result in extreme
consequences in reality, so instead, the impulses or yearnings are satisfied within the unconscious
where only the individual can truly gain access to. To Freud, the mindwas a part of us suffering from
chronic turmoil, with the ego and the superego constantly at war with the ID, where impulses rest.

Letter of Motivation
Dear Madam or Sir,
After spending half a decade on developing state of the art financial and medical software, I am
thrilled by the prospects of taking my career forward through a distinguished master s degree from
your university. My passion for programming has taken me from an eventful bachelor s degree in
computer science, to an innovative professional career with one of the biggest conglomerate of
the world. Now, my zeal for learning medicine and its association with computers brings me here
to you. With this letter I wish to apply and state my motivation for admission to Biomedical
Computing (BMC) program. My objective is to become an expert in the dynamic field of computer
aided medical procedures and medical imaging.
I was intrigued by how programming could help me automate manual work, create utilities for
everyday needs and still be so much fun. Hence, I pursued undergraduate studies in computer
science and engineering. In my second semester, I presented a technical paper on minimally
invasive surgery using robotics. I was excited by the prospects that the use of robotics can help
patients to recover quickly with lesser operative distress. Later, I, along with three of my friends,
conducted workshops on 3D animation using 3ds Max software. At that time, a typical computer
science graduate from my university would work in the Indian software service industry. However,

Leonardo also used the arts and science hand in hand as was the humanist philosophy.
Humanism also led to Leonardo s study of the human anatomy in order to have a greater
understanding of the human body and to portray them more accurately in his work. Leonardo
went as far as defying the Roman Catholic Church to dissect corpses for his work. He studied
nature and anatomy for hours on end to produce graphic paintings that were used as manuals.
Which leads to a second point, Leonardo da Vinci was a secular person. He was a lefty that at
the time was seen as the devil s work and he continued to use his left hand, even though he

perceptive endeavor towards aesthetics . Though Leonardo s work is primarily Christian
themed or related, he boldly created masterpieces that were pagan or non religious in nature.
This also shows the gradual change of mind of people from the Renaissance from extremely
religious and conservative to slightly more liberal. Leonardo broke free from what was the
standard norm and religious asceticism as was the case with many other artists. He believed in
discovery and that life was worth living now. Leonardo revolutionized styles of painting. He
rebelled against the customary oils and used vibrant colors of tempera to create his masterpieces.

The Role of Color in the Art of Vincent Van Gogh
What role did colour play in the art of Van Gogh?
When people think of Vincent van Gogh they immediately think colour . This is mostly due to his
bright French Paintings, but his first paintings in the Netherlands are never thought of as colourful.
This is untrue, colour was always an important element in Gogh s entire lifetime of works. Even
though the melancholy paintings from Holland and the glowing works from Paris seem completely
different they are a result of the same theory and practise.
Vincent Van Goghwas mostly self thought and began his career in art by studding nineteenth
century how to draw books and copying prints he liked. He felt like he had to master drawing
techniques first in order to become a great painter. Van Gogh also had the idea that he had to
work with black and white before he could master colour. He focused on form and perspective
sketches. When he grew strong enough at drawing he began to start using colour. He became very
adventurous and his fearless colour palette developed into one of the most significant features of
his later works.
Van Gogh produced over 150 watercolour paintings in his short life. These didn t feature his use of
texture but, they are undoubtedly his due to the recognizable use of vibrant colour. Originally he
used watercolour to add shadows to his drawings but the more he worked with them the greater he
got and they became finished masterpieces.
After just five years of studying art Gogh felt ambitious and wanted to

the child has been introduced to the Montessori materials he will learn as his nature dictates and
he will know how to do the Montessori activities without being in need of the directress. The

spiritual offering the child patterns of spiritual behaviour through the genuine example given by
the directress.( I ve noticed at the Montessori school, in the pre school classroom that every time

Persuasive Essay On Why Do Volunteer
Nowadays with people having busy lives, of school, job, and family, it could get complex in taking
time of someones day to volunteer; however, volunteering is monumental to people and the
community. Volunteer work helps connect people, it is exceptional for the mind and body, and can
advance career opportunities.
Making new friendships and strengthening them is to connect to one another with common
interests. In addition, one of the substantial ways to meet new people around the community is to
do volunteer work. By doing this makes the community stronger and expands people social groups
by exposing them to new people with similar interests and exciting and activities. In this time and
age more young adults have a arduous time becoming outgoing; moreover, the reason is that they
do not go outside to meet new people because they are invariably stuck on their phones checking
out their social media. However, volunteering gives young adults possibility to develop their social
skills because usually people are put in a group with the same interest and age range while doing
volunteer work. Since the groups have common interest, it makes it easier for teenagers to
fraternize with people in the community.
In today s time many teenagers have to fight against anxiety, stress, and depression alone, and

New Orleans Chooses Home Rule Charter
New Orleans Chooses Home Rule Charter
The city of New Orleans is governed by a Home Rule Charter. The Home Rule gives a
municipality the power and authority to determine how it city should be governed. Without this
power a state can make it difficult for a city to function. It can be because of political differences,
old grudges, or just because it can. The state can cause economic and financial hardship. The
Municipality can be given as much or as little power as the state sees fit, because municipalities
are creatures of the state. Before a Home Rule Charter came into effect, there were several
charters before it. The territorial legislature granted New Orleans its first Charter in 1805 and it
went into effect the following year. It consisted of a Mayor appointed by the Governor for a
term of one year. The council consisted of two members from each ward, they were elected for a
term of two years. The Mayor had certain powers. Most of these changes lasted until 1836. After
the adoption of the 1805 charter New Orleans was considered an American City after having been a
European outpost on American soil for almost a century. In 1836 the 1805 charter was amended.
The significant changes provided the city s government be divided into three municipalities. There
was still only one Mayor, but there was a council for each municipality. But, with some authority
remained with the central government. The most recognizable change to the city s charter of 1836
was the change

Summary Of The Passing Of Age By Gwen Harwood
The passing of time emphasizes the importance of growing on one s journey. Gwen Harwood s
fusion of modernist and romantic poetry uses powerful narratives to understand growth on one s
journey through the transition from innocence to experience, the quest for whole identity and the
cyclical nature of life. Father and Child charts a child s journey from innocence to experience
capturing the individual growth from maturing experiences. Alter Egoillustrates the questioning and
acceptance of ourselves in life and death. Lastly, At Mornington canvasses the need to reconcile
with ourselves of the inevitability of death with the fleeting nature of time. Thus, readers are
engaged by Harwood s poetrythrough its poetic treatment of growth and time, encouraging us to
reconcile with ourselves on our individual growth in life.
Growth implies a change from one position to another with experiences over time in this case from
innocence to maturity. Father and child is a two part poem depicting the relationship between a
father and child demonstrating the growth from maturing experiences it displays that with the
acquisition of knowledge innocence is sacrificed. The idea of childhood innocence is a Romantic
idea, the process of growing up is shown through part one Barn Owl. In the first stanza, biblical
allusions and descriptive language are used to describe the child as blessed and angel mind
conveying the purity of childhood. This is a time where the child s life

The Shining Path Or El Sendero Luminoso
Known as one of the most dangerous and violent terrorist organizations in the world, the Shining
Path or El Sendero Luminoso in Spanish of Peru was unique in various aspects. Although now
considered a menace to Peruvian society, the Shining Path still remains as a significant reference for
revolutionary movements. Living in an age of terror, Peruwas a country of disorder and corruption;
the road to liberation was a far way to go. For years, demagogic candidates turned dictatorial
leaders were filled with an insatiable hunger to fight for power and dominance. They mainly spent
money on military forces, drugs, and other frivolous things; yet all failed to simply provide for the
people who needed them most. Living was almost nonexistent and an illusion with an impoverished
economy. The country remained socioeconomically stagnant. Promises were never made and
Peruvians became more desperate, angry, and resentful by the day. Emotions gradually fueled their
fires into strong burning passions. This was more than enough to spark a revolutionary movement
to eternally live on. No matter how vile and wicked it would resort to, the people were ready.
Everyone just wanted to survive. And that was exactly where the Shining Pathcame into the picture.
Despite how unconventional this shining path was, it brought a promising future to the voices
dying to be heard.
Shining Path was a frightening guerilla force profoundly isolationist and sectlike. The terrorist
organization established in

Henderson Printing
I have been asked to review the compensation system practices for Henderson Printing with a view
to establishing a common set of principles and practices that are understood by both management
and employees of the organization. In addition, it is both logical and desirable to ensure that
Henderson Printing is motivating and rewarding a common set of skills and behaviours to all
employees consistently in the organization in order for Henderson Printing to be the most viable
organization as possible.
Findings and Issues:
Employees of Henderson Printing need to be feel that they are all being paid fairly at all levels

Henderson has displayed. It will help with the issue of cost control and ensuring no one is being
over paid for their job. The job evaluation system will also engage and motivate employees to seek
promotions within Henderson Printing as they will encouraged to reach the next level and advance
within the organization. Role clarity will also assist in the job evaluation process assisting
employees in better understanding their role and responsibilities; as is the case with the current
rank of supervisors providing conflicting information to employees.
In addition to the job evaluation system described above, I would recommend Henderson printing
implement a profit sharing plan in the organization which provides bonus payments to employees
based on their profits of the organization. Employees of Henderson Printing will feel more
motivated to improve the organization s profits, it will promote improved cooperation with team
members and stronger organizational citizenship. In addition, over time, if production becomes
more efficient due to the employee s invested interest in the organization and identify perhaps new
and innovated ways to increase production seamlessly, there may be an ability to reduce the need
for supervisors and/or on site managers, which would result in further reducing operating costs.
Recruitment and retention of employees may also be assisted with

Mary As A Disciple ( Mariology )
Mary as a Disciple (Mariology)
Mary was the mother to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and has been a focus of theological discussion
since about the second century. Mary comes from a long line of women in the bible. Prototypes, if
you will. These women throughout the Old Testament were chosen by God. This gave way to Mary
becoming the God bearer. A title that was given to her by the Council of Ephesus in 431 C.E.
This is obviously where all theological debate dealing with Mariology comes from. To Catholics,
Mary is a sign of hope in this fading world. To protestant Christians, Mary is also known as the
mother of God. However, many protestant theologians believe that Mary should be honored but
within certain limits. The Old Testament in the Holy Biblespecifically says in Exodus 34:14, Do
not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God . In the New
Testament it says in 1 John 5:21, Little children, keep yourselves from idols . Martin Luther (a
German professor of Theology, and founder of the Lutheran Church) was quick to say that Mary
should be honored but to only what is fitting. Karl Barth (a reformed protestant theologian)
explained that through Mary, Jesus was human, and through Jesus, she is the divine mother of
God, and is full of grace that was still given to her by God the Father. Avery Dulles talks of models
that churches should strive to uphold, and Mary (mother of God) resembles the church of Servant,
Community,

The Barren Woman By Sylvia Plath
Barren Woman by Sylvia Plath Poems are a structure of words with multiple layers of meanings.
The Barren Woman by Sylvia Plath describes a childless woman who sees herself as empty and
bare. Plath uses specific figurative language, such as, allusion, diction, and imagery to help explain
what being barren is like. The form, context, and figurative language of Barren Womanconveys
what it is like to be barren, emotionally and physically. Barren Woman is a relatively short poem.
It is separated into two parts. This helps distinctly structure the poem. In the first part of this
poem, the woman is comparing herself to an empty museum. Empty, I echo to the least footfall,
/ Museum without statues, grand with pillars, porticoes, rotundas. / In my courtyard a fountain
leaps and sinks back into itself (1 3). In the second part of this poem the narrator takes a different
point of view. She abruptly changes from describing herself as an empty museum, to expressing
how she imagines her life, and the harsh reality that it actually is: I imagine myself with a great
public, / Mother of a white Nike and several bald eyed Apollos. / Instead, the dead injure me with
attentions, and nothing can happen ( Barren 5 7). Plath constructs the separate parts as two separate
stanzas; part one is the first stanza, and the second part is the second stanza. By doing two stanzas
each with five lines, it helps balance two different points in one poem. Barren Woman is a very

Chapter 1 Of James Maccormick’S Book, Nine Algorithms That
Chapter 1 of James MacCormick s book, Nine Algorithms That Changed The Future, provides an
overview of what an algorithm is and introduces the reader of the algorithms that will be discussed
throughout the book. An algorithm is a precise recipe that specifies the exact sequence of steps
required to solve a problem (MacCormick, 3). Algorithm requires a sequence of steps that contain
the instructions on what to do. One of the key elements of an algorithm is to have a set of rules in
order to perform the mathematical calculations. Another feature of algorithms is that it always
works. Computer sciencedescribes how to solve a problem using an algorithm. The main purpose of
the book is to explain the algorithms one s computer uses everyday... Show more content on

Chapter 7 discusses compression algorithms. Compressions are used often and sometimes we may
not even be aware of it. The items we download or upload may be compressed in order to save
bandwidth. Chapter 8 discusses the fundamental algorithms underlying databases (MacCormick, 7).
This chapter emphasizes the techniques used to achieve consistency and to ensure that databases
never contradict each other. Chapter 9 discusses the ability to sign an electronic document digitally
(MacCormick, 7). Chapter 10 discusses algorithms that would be considered great if it existed.
The two main elements that make an algorithm considered to be good are that it solves a problem
and it does it efficiently. In order to measure the efficiency of algorithms, computer scientists use
asymptotic analysis, which allows algorithms to be compared independently of a particular
programming language or hardware. This allows us to determine that some algorithms are more
efficient than others. It is important that users find good algorithms and know when to apply them.
This will allow people to write important programs. For instance, google is able to transmit live
videos across the internet quickly because they use audio and visual compression algorithms ( What
Is an Algorithm, n.p). Another example is google maps and its feature to give us transportation
instruction to get to different places is possible

It is easy to think communicating is simple; however it is usually quite complicated and very
easy to send the wrong message. The two elements in every communication situation are the
sender and the receiver. The sender conveys the idea and the receiver interprets it and usually
gives the sender feedback. Feedback is a powerful tool to communication effectiveness, because
it enables the sender to determine whether or not the receiver correctly interpreted the message.
Likewise in this case line managers haven t been able to express themselves and therefore there
hasn t been any feedback conveyed with the General Manager. A possible cause for this problem
is that majority of line managers employed in India are recent university graduates (World
Business Culture, 2012). Now this is not the problem, the problem is the lack of experience held
by these employees compared to the experience of general managers. And with the way businesses
are run in India it is usually a case of the person with the most experience in the business gets to
have the final say (Chakravarty, 2013).

  • 2. Herma The Shepherd Research Paper In modern times he is sometimes referred to as The Demon, The Devil, or The Ruler of Hell. These are titles given to him to show his purpose in most of the modern world. Today he is portrayed as the evil ruler of Hell who seeks the destruction of Mankind. This belief began in early Christianity, and was reinforced by Lutherans, Protestants, and Catholics alike. Before the second century ages it was thought that Satan and his demons could possess your body and cause physical ailments such as blindness, impotency, and madness. This change had a great deal to do with Herma s The Shepherd where everyone is depicted as having an angel and a Demon guiding them at all time. • 3. European Relations With Native Americans Robert Bossong History II Honors Mr. Hartwell 3/2/16 European Relations with Native Americans As the Europeans arrived on American shores, they encountered a variety of native peoples. Some were living in advanced civilizations; others were living as simple hunter gatherer cultures. By the time of the first European contact, in 1492, European settlers interacted with the native peoples in different ways. The Spanish ruled the natives as conquered people, forcing many to work on agricultural estates. The French developed a harmonious relationship with the natives. The English approach fell somewhere between the two polar European powers. The Spanish settled in present day Mexico and Peru; they encountered the advanced civilizations of the Aztec and Inca Empires. After diseases wiped out most of the native population, millions survived. The Spanish incorporated the survivors as laborers for their own empire. Eventually, after forced labor, the survivors died from exhaustion. Few Spanish families settled the empire so the group of explorers and soldiers intermarried with the natives. After enslaving indigenous peoples in the Caribbean and the southern parts of the Americas to grow crops and mine for gold, silver, and other valuables, the Spanish moved into North America where they concentrated their efforts in what is now the southwestern and southeastern United States. In present day Florida, Spain established a military post at San AugustГn, but only a small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Food Inc Have you ever been in a rush, low on cash, and looking for something to eat so you didn t really have a choice but to grab a burger with fries at your local fast food place? Have you ever paused or stopped to think about where the burger really came from, or the process that went in to be made? The FoodInc documentary investigates and exposes the American industrial production of meat, grains, and vegetables. Robert Kenner the producer of the film makes allegations in this film and he explores how food industries are deliberately hiding how and where it is our food is coming from. He emphasizes that we should find out where our food comes from and why is it that the food industrydoes not want us to know. Food Inc. does not only uses compelling images, such as hundreds of baby chickens being raised in spaces where they do not see an inch of sunlight, it also includes the speeches and stories of farmers, families, government officials, and victims of the food industry. The four current problems facing today s food industry are the reformed usage of the false advertisement within the labeling of products , mistreatment of farmed animals, and the harmful chemical in our meats. The documentary Food Inc uses very persuasive tactics that demonstrates strong elements of pathos, ethos, and logos make an effective appeal, while uncovering the dark side of the food industry. • 6. Analysis Of Chesterton And His Literary Masterpiece While doing research on G.K. Chesterton and his literary masterpiece, I came upon this question What is the difference between progress and growth? to which G.K. Chesterton answered The fatal metaphor of progress, which means leaving things behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of growth, which means leaving things inside of us. This statement is just one of the plethora of quotations of a man who never attended any university, and it amazing how he can say something about everything and say it better than everybody else. Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most profoundly, powerfully, and effectively. He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed from newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality to show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism. In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc, and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life. From 1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton created the Father Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and numerous articles. He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his major critical works are reviews of Robert Browning (1903) and Charles Dickens (1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a number of Belloc s light works. This is such a good reminder for me! Sometimes we are influenced by the value of this world and we pay too much attentions to teach the children the knowledge of the languages, sciences or arts, but we forget the more important thing is to help our children put their confidence in Godand fear the Lord since they are still young. • 14. Essay The First Man-Made Method of Transportation It s just a normal day. You wake up, get ready, and rush out the door. An everyday occurrence, yet without one simple object this daily routine would be drastically different. Consider what you would do on a cold snowy day, or a wet, rainy day without shoes. What would you do when working in the weedy, rocky yard without shoes? A lack of shoes instantly makes itself known when you step out on the icy cold ground or tread on a nice prickly bush. But so what, you say. After all, shoes only take us practically everywhere we go. There are only entire stores dedicated to them. Later, creative shoemakers began to sport unique qualities on their shoes, such as pointy toes, in order to gain employment from rich patrons. This began the era of the diversification of the shoe (Shoe). In the 1600s, the sewn on sole became the norm for leather shoes. Inventors followed this by shoes which fit only the right or left foot and thus could be much more form fitting. In the era of mass production and industrialization which characterized the 1900s, experimenting producers started to use other materials for shoes, like synthetic cloth and plastics, raising the general quality of inexpensive shoes. This allowed more people to be able to afford shoes and made shoe sizes more uniform. It also led to an explosion of shoe types in the middle part of the 20th century (Shoe). Today, shoes are designed especially for many new, different purposes, such as athletics, to be eco friendly, and even to mimic popular culture characters. Some traditional styles continue to hold sway, as well. Shoes have gone through a long progression of developments to make them more appealing, comfortable, durable, and useful. Americans right to be secure is the moat surrounding their castle, it guarantees Americans protection against unreasonable search and seizure. The right to be secure is guaranteed in the 4th amendment of the Bill of Rights, which is a section of the U.S. Constitution listing a citizens guaranteed rights. The U.S. Constitution was written in 1787 but lacked the support required to be ratified; as it needed support from 9 of the 13 states prior to its ratification. The constitution received the backing of its 9th state after adding the Bill of Rights to the Constitution. The addition of a Bill of Rights was required for the support of many states as one of the largest concerns the states had with the Constitution was that the Government would have too much power and control over citizens. So the addition of a Bill or Rights stating what the Government may or may not do as well as guaranteeing the freedoms and rights of citizens helped end the states concerns. As a little young girl grows up in New York. She is curious about the outside world and wants to touch the reality. Thus, in her imagination, she creates her own paracosm in New York pattern. However, for a three year old girl, her paracosm is supposed to be relaxing and interesting. Paracosm is based on human subjective consciousness and affection. In her imaginary world, everyone is very busy which like New Yorkers and is similar to the realworld. In other words, it represents that because of Ravioli busyness, Olivia desires to experience the busy life and is longing into an outside world which is same as her friend. INTRODUCTION TO CIVIL AVIATION Lucas Lee Executive Summary The current global economic crisis has changed the way aviation industry goes about its business. It has brought about a boom in low cost carriers, which has made travelling by air cheaper for the masses. Services offered by airlines and airports are also of higher standards to make people want to travel by air. The economic downturn has seen a significant drop of investments in the aviation market. Airport ground handlers and airplane part manufacturers have also had to retrench their workers in order to counterbalance the poor market. Pratt amp; Whitney, an engine manufacturer for planes, is set to cut 200 jobs in an attempt to counterbalance the poor market. The big players like Boeing and Airbus may face such problems in the future even though large amount of orders for the B787 and A380 have been placed. They may have to come up with better variants in order to keep up their sales. There would also be a change in the volume of air traffic. The previously busy air traffic may die down due to the fact that people are travelling lesser. People would also want to travel cheaper. Hence, instead of taking planes they would choose cheaper means of transportation like trains, ships and coaches. With the decrease in amount of flights, ground handlers may have lesser things to do and they may face retrenchment. Product sales in the airport shops may drop as well since there are lesser people visiting the airport. Airports may not be earning as much as before and terminals may eventually be closed to sustain the financial situation. The face of aviation would have to change in order to sustain the current situation, and the fact that the economy downturn has already started to show it s effects, the industry has to evolve and remain relevant to suit the needs of people, and in time to come I believe that aviation would be forced to become cheaper in order to recover from the current economic crisis. • 19. The Legend Of The Sleepy Hollow By Washington Irving The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is a tale of supernaturalism written in Nineteenth Century America during a time when American literature was not yet fully established. Irving wrote this story with multiple historical events in mind and presents a legend full of problematic ideas of wealth, greed and rejection. Amongst many other literary elements, Irving uses the American setting and Sleepy Hollow itself throughout in relation to the development of the story. The setting in relation to the characters is also an important factor that establishes the mood for this creepy, supernatural legend. The location of Sleepy Hollow is the basis of the setting and is influenced by a full range of historical facts and events. This instantly creates a frame of mind for the readers and prepares them for certain themes. The city of Sleepy Hollow and its name at first glance describe the story in general very well. Lastly, the setting impacts the characters throughout and directs the way the characters should be. Without the heavy description and use of setting, the mood in this story would not be so well founded and the context not as impactful. The Legend of Sleepy Hollowwould not be the supernatural tale it is without Irving s focus on the setting. One of such conversations is virtual reality, which plays a major role in the discourse of my academic community. As one of the major research areas in this discourse community, people in this community are talking about different ways virtual realitycan be implemented into classes or throughout campus. Virtual reality has both positive and negative constraints. One positive constraint is the abundance of virtual reality products that are created by a wide range of companies. In this academic discourse community, a positive constraint is everyone researching virtual reality can interact and use the technology for further research in the field. One negative constraint is that despite these welcomed innovations, virtual reality also poses some problems, one of them being how expensive the technology is to the average consumer. More specifically in this academic discourse community, another negative constraint is the technology can be dangerous if not handled properly by students or professors. Virtual reality is currently in early development but as it evolves it has the potential to be as great as the iPhone in sales. Yet it is this area that Shakespeare so deftly depicts in The Tragedy of Hamlet. The gray environment he weaves eventually renders it almost impossible to tell the sane from the insane, the ability to reason ultimately becomes the audience s sole determiner of a character s mental condition. Thus, Shakespeare is able to successfully tie his thoughts on reason and emotion to a character s sanity. Experiences of intense dreamsequences that involve sexual relations with family members, or homicide carried out by the individual or others, are examples of wish fulfillment dreams. Leonardo also used the arts and science hand in hand as was the humanist philosophy. Humanism also led to Leonardo s study of the human anatomy in order to have a greater understanding of the human body and to portray them more accurately in his work. Leonardo went as far as defying the Roman Catholic Church to dissect corpses for his work. He studied nature and anatomy for hours on end to produce graphic paintings that were used as manuals. Which leads to a second point, Leonardo da Vinci was a secular person. He was a lefty that at the time was seen as the devil s work and he continued to use his left hand, even though he became ambidextrous. His peculiar and distinguished portraits also demonstrate Leonardo s perceptive endeavor towards aesthetics . Though Leonardo s work is primarily Christian themed or related, he boldly created masterpieces that were pagan or non religious in nature. This also shows the gradual change of mind of people from the Renaissance from extremely religious and conservative to slightly more liberal. Leonardo broke free from what was the standard norm and religious asceticism as was the case with many other artists. He believed in discovery and that life was worth living now. • 37. The Role of Color in the Art of Vincent Van Gogh What role did colour play in the art of Van Gogh? When people think of Vincent van Gogh they immediately think colour . This is mostly due to his bright French Paintings, but his first paintings in the Netherlands are never thought of as colourful. This is untrue, colour was always an important element in Gogh s entire lifetime of works. Even though the melancholy paintings from Holland and the glowing works from Paris seem completely different they are a result of the same theory and practise. Vincent Van Goghwas mostly self thought and began his career in art by studding nineteenth century how to draw books and copying prints he liked. He felt like he had to master drawing techniques first in order to become a great painter. Van Gogh also had the idea that he had to work with black and white before he could master colour. He focused on form and perspective sketches. When he grew strong enough at drawing he began to start using colour. He became very adventurous and his fearless colour palette developed into one of the most significant features of his later works. Van Gogh produced over 150 watercolour paintings in his short life. These didn t feature his use of texture but, they are undoubtedly his due to the recognizable use of vibrant colour. Originally he used watercolour to add shadows to his drawings but the more he worked with them the greater he got and they became finished masterpieces. The prepared environment has three components: one physical that is represented by the child sized furniture and the Montessori materials, another intellectual created with the help of the directress who designs the perfect climate for the child to work and develop himself and another one spiritual offering the child patterns of spiritual behaviour through the genuine example given by the directress.( I ve noticed at the Montessori school, in the pre school classroom that every time the directress was praying before the snack time, the children took her example and did the same). The directress is the one who plans the way in which the environment has to be prepared for the children, according to the child s each activity and to the materials required for each exercise; the things regarding the planning of the environment have to move from the directress to the child: e.g. I ve seen at the Montessori School where I did my work experience that the directress provided good quality and easy ... • 41. New Orleans Chooses Home Rule Charter New Orleans Chooses Home Rule Charter The city of New Orleans is governed by a Home Rule Charter. The Home Rule gives a municipality the power and authority to determine how it city should be governed. Without this power a state can make it difficult for a city to function. It can be because of political differences, old grudges, or just because it can. The state can cause economic and financial hardship. The Municipality can be given as much or as little power as the state sees fit, because municipalities are creatures of the state. Before a Home Rule Charter came into effect, there were several charters before it. The territorial legislature granted New Orleans its first Charter in 1805 and it went into effect the following year. It consisted of a Mayor appointed by the Governor for a term of one year. The council consisted of two members from each ward, they were elected for a term of two years. The Mayor had certain powers. Most of these changes lasted until 1836. After the adoption of the 1805 charter New Orleans was considered an American City after having been a European outpost on American soil for almost a century. In 1836 the 1805 charter was amended. Gwen Harwood s fusion of modernist and romantic poetry uses powerful narratives to understand growth on one s journey through the transition from innocence to experience, the quest for whole identity and the cyclical nature of life. Father and Child charts a child s journey from innocence to experience capturing the individual growth from maturing experiences. Alter Egoillustrates the questioning and acceptance of ourselves in life and death. Lastly, At Mornington canvasses the need to reconcile with ourselves of the inevitability of death with the fleeting nature of time. Thus, readers are engaged by Harwood s poetrythrough its poetic treatment of growth and time, encouraging us to reconcile with ourselves on our individual growth in life. Growth implies a change from one position to another with experiences over time in this case from innocence to maturity. Although now considered a menace to Peruvian society, the Shining Path still remains as a significant reference for revolutionary movements. Living in an age of terror, Peruwas a country of disorder and corruption; the road to liberation was a far way to go. For years, demagogic candidates turned dictatorial leaders were filled with an insatiable hunger to fight for power and dominance. They mainly spent money on military forces, drugs, and other frivolous things; yet all failed to simply provide for the people who needed them most. Living was almost nonexistent and an illusion with an impoverished economy. The country remained socioeconomically stagnant. Promises were never made and Peruvians became more desperate, angry, and resentful by the day. Emotions gradually fueled their fires into strong burning passions. This was more than enough to spark a revolutionary movement to eternally live on. No matter how vile and wicked it would resort to, the people were ready. Everyone just wanted to survive. • 46. Mary As A Disciple ( Mariology ) Mary as a Disciple (Mariology) Mary was the mother to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and has been a focus of theological discussion since about the second century. Mary comes from a long line of women in the bible. Prototypes, if you will. These women throughout the Old Testament were chosen by God. This gave way to Mary becoming the God bearer. A title that was given to her by the Council of Ephesus in 431 C.E. This is obviously where all theological debate dealing with Mariology comes from. To Catholics, Mary is a sign of hope in this fading world. To protestant Christians, Mary is also known as the mother of God. However, many protestant theologians believe that Mary should be honored but within certain limits. The Old Testament in the Holy Biblespecifically says in Exodus 34:14, Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God . In the New Testament it says in 1 John 5:21, Little children, keep yourselves from idols . Martin Luther (a German professor of Theology, and founder of the Lutheran Church) was quick to say that Mary should be honored but to only what is fitting. Karl Barth (a reformed protestant theologian) explained that through Mary, Jesus was human, and through Jesus, she is the divine mother of God, and is full of grace that was still given to her by God the Father. Avery Dulles talks of models that churches should strive to uphold, and Mary (mother of God) resembles the church of Servant, Community, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. The Barren Woman By Sylvia Plath Barren Woman by Sylvia Plath Poems are a structure of words with multiple layers of meanings. The Barren Woman by Sylvia Plath describes a childless woman who sees herself as empty and bare. Plath uses specific figurative language, such as, allusion, diction, and imagery to help explain what being barren is like. The form, context, and figurative language of Barren Womanconveys what it is like to be barren, emotionally and physically. Barren Woman is a relatively short poem. It is separated into two parts. This helps distinctly structure the poem. In the first part of this poem, the woman is comparing herself to an empty museum. Empty, I echo to the least footfall, / Museum without statues, grand with pillars, porticoes, rotundas. / In my courtyard a fountain leaps and sinks back into itself (1 3). In the second part of this poem the narrator takes a different point of view. She abruptly changes from describing herself as an empty museum, to expressing how she imagines her life, and the harsh reality that it actually is: I imagine myself with a great public, / Mother of a white Nike and several bald eyed Apollos. / Instead, the dead injure me with attentions, and nothing can happen ( Barren 5 7). Plath constructs the separate parts as two separate stanzas; part one is the first stanza, and the second part is the second stanza. By doing two stanzas each with five lines, it helps balance two different points in one poem. Barren Woman is a very important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two elements in every communication situation are the sender and the receiver. The sender conveys the idea and the receiver interprets it and usually gives the sender feedback. Feedback is a powerful tool to communication effectiveness, because it enables the sender to determine whether or not the receiver correctly interpreted the message. Likewise in this case line managers haven t been able to express themselves and therefore there hasn t been any feedback conveyed with the General Manager. A possible cause for this problem is that majority of line managers employed in India are recent university graduates (World Business Culture, 2012).
