Introduction of Art Nouveau
Introduction to Art Nouveau
The Art Nouveau ( new art ) movement was one of the first departures from classical art and
design, towards a new modernism. The Modernism and Art Nouveau movements occurred during
what was known in France as the Belle Г‰poque, or beautiful era period of the late 19th and
early 20th centuries. The movement was primarily influenced by the radical work of Czech
(Moravian) artist Alfons Mucha, Swiss decorative artist EugГЁne Grasset, and English illustrator
Aubrey Beardsley ( The Peacock Skirt ) and the ground breaking architecture and design work of
Hector Guimard of Paris and Antoni GaudГ of Barcelona.
The Art Nouveau movement focussed heavily on the themes of nature, fantasy, and the female

In particular because of the art gallery La Maison de l Art Nouveau , which was opened as a
showroom for the new art by a Japanese art collector, Siegfried Bing.
All the Art Nouveau artists were largely reacting against the Classic aesthetic, a style described as
often fussy and inhibited. They found a freeing vocabulary in natural and organic forms. The
movement s signature motif was the S curve, which might be found in a flower s stem on a brooch
or the trail of smoke from a cigarette depicted in a theater poster.
The Art Nouveau artists were not shy about the naked body, contrary to their predecessors, and the
Art Nouveau style is often described as a feminine one. But some Art Nouveau was also geometric
as the forms designed by Wiener Werkstatte and Josef Hoffmann.

The, Terrorism, And International Terrorism
The infamous word of Terrorism is such a complex word when it comes to the actual definition.
Reason that is the case is that everything that happens from a shooting of innocent people to the
fires that were set to the churches in the south. Everyone around the world in different countries
also has their own definition and that is because they have faced the horror of constant terrorist
attacks in the past 20+ years. The bloodshed that happens on a daily basis is why it is known as
terrorism. For one it s conducted by an organized group of individuals who seek to spread their
beliefs onto others who have their own religion. The current definition according to the State
Department website is broken down into two parts which is domestic terrorism, and international
terrorism. Both are broken down to describe what they both mean and who the individuals that
conduct such attacks are.
Internationally, the definition in countries such as in the United Kingdom is from the
Parliamentary Liaison Secretary, Michael Bartlet : [1] (1) In this Act terrorism means the use or
threat of action where: (a) the action falls within subsection (2), (b) the use or threat is designed to
influence the government or to intimidate the public or a section of the public, and (c) the use or
threat is made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious or ideological cause.

Evolution And Our Family Tree
For many years, scientists have been finding additional and new evidence about evolution and our
family tree. This Face Changes the Human Story. But How? (Shreeve 2015) discusses the findings
of mysterious fossil remains which effect human evolution by providing additional and new
information as a new species. The new mysterious fossils could possibly be a missing link in
human evolutionbetween apes and humans. Science is always changing as scientist are constantly
making new discoveries. This new mysterious species has the potential to expand and fill in the
gaps of humanevolutionbut it takes time and should not be rushed in order to execute the findings
as accurately as possible.
In 2013, a breakthrough in relation to evolution occurred when fossils were found in South
Africa in the Rising Star cave. Paleoanthropologist Lee Berger, discovered Homo naledi with the
help of Steven Tucker and Rick Hunter (Shreeve 2015). When Tucker and Hunter first came
across the fossil bones deep in the cave they found part of a jaw with some teeth still in place. At
first, Tucker and Hunter assumed it belonged to a human but both men were corrected after Berger
examined the photographs explaining it was definitely not human because it displayed primitive
characteristics (Shreeve 2015). After coming across such a mystery, Berger decided to set up
camp at the cave and put a team together in order to retrieve and examine all of the skeletal
remains in Rising Star.

Quotes From The Jamestown S Klallam Tribe
How strong are you? One of my favorite quotes is You never know how strong you are until being
strong is the only choice you have is a quote that might connect to some more than others In all,
this quote represents struggle and the resilience someone has to possess to make it through
whatever they re going through. The Jamestown S Klallam tribe(The Strong People) originated in
1874 near the eastern end of the strait of Juan De Fuca, which is Northwestern Oregon today .The
tribe has always lived in the upper Washington area where they thrived on the agriculture and
wildlife . Soon after white settlers moved in and pushed the S klallam people out and forced them
to relocate. The tribe then moved to a new community that had all naturally resources called
Jamestown, named after James balch who was a leader within the tribe hints the renowned name.
The story of The Mink And The Wolf , numerous native tales , admittedly can have multiple
meanings. Elaine Grinnell s tales range from urban myths, creative thoughts, animal lore, and fish
stories. The story starts with Mink trying to trick the fish to come to him but wolf took his
catch. The mink and the wolf represents the white settlers taking the land from the s klallam tribe....

The mink shares a profusion with the settlers, due to them both being selfish. I made this
connection for the reason that within almost every native tribe, you re considered being malicious

and looking back at the text, discloses to me that there are countless approaches when dealing with

Ancient Medicine
Today, the average American will undergo over nine surgeries in their lifetime, costing us an arm
and a leg. The basic fundamentals of these surgeries and equipment can be traced back to the
ancient Greek and Roman times. Many people may not see the less obvious transformations the
ancient Greco Romans had on modern day, such as advancements in the medical field, more
specifically, surgeries. By looking back into the past, we can see the vast amount of progression the
Romans had in surgical tools, operations, and medicine. Some of their success was due to religious
beliefs and way of life that they were able to be among the most modern and healthy ancient
civilizations. Though the common physicianwas often times not successful, military... Show more

the likelihood of success in treatment of disease and or surgeries. The concept of germs had not
yet been developed but doctors cleaned equipment between uses with methods such as boiling and
soaking the tools in vinegar due to religious beliefs. This process played a large role for the
positive outcome Romans had in surgery compared to other cultures and proved the Romans more

Why Is College Education Worth The Expense
Is College Education Worth The Expense What is your plan after high school? Maybe you will go
live in your parent s basement while you look for a job. Or maybe you will start your own
company. Or you will go to college. The only person who can decide what they want to do with
their life is you. Now I believe that going to collegewill be a lot more helpful than just skipping
college and getting a job right away. Or starting your own company. Now some of the reasons why
you should go to college are you will get a high percentage of getting the job that you want. A lot of
jobs require a degree, but some people don t know that. Like let s say someone wants to become a
scientist well u would have to get a college degree to become one. Some jobs don t require a degree
,but most good jobs do. When you go to college to get your degree in something. You don t just
learn how to do your job. You also learn to live on your own. Instead of just living on your own.
College also teaches you how to live on your own.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Unjust And Uninhibited Control In The Daily Prophet
Unjust and uninhibited control is an innate trait of bureaucratism, as a byproduct of an institution
s quest for efficiency. In perpetuation of their lack of limits, bureaucrats create survival
networks across spheres, and thus are more difficult to bring down. In regards to the Potter
series, the Ministry creates a network with The Daily Prophet. Bureaucracy knows no limits, and
may take unjust actions. The Daily Prophet publishing deceiving articles is unethical by general
contemporary standards; however, by bureaucratic definition the institution is self justifying, and
defines themselves as the most rational organization. The Ministry believes that they have
proper justification in using the newspaper to their advantage, and the newspaper plays along. In
doing so, they expand past the boundaries between public and private affairs by exploiting Harry.
The Daily Prophet is the Ministry s pawn in their obsession with order, which in itself is
disordering according to bureaucratic politics. The Daily Prophet s corrupt articles only create
more disorder even though they have the goal of preventing panic. Any time that there is a group
of elites and a public, there are sure to be elements populist politics found. This is especially true
when the group of elites exercise their power to deceive the mass. In this situation the villain in
populist terms is The Daily Prophet, along with the Ministry of Magic, for abusing their power to
take advantage of their superior position to

Native American And First Nations Gender Identities Essay
One of the difficulties in studying and assessing the effects and causes of changing
terminologies and beliefs regarding Native American and First Nations gender identities is the
incredible variety between both the histories of different tribes and the individual s
understanding of personal identity. It is a frequent and recurring problem in academia
surrounding minority groups, whether they be racial, ethnic, sexual, or gender minorities, that
the voices of actual members of the group being studied are ignored. What they are saying can
be sterilized, particularly when the researcher is not a member of the group. The reality of the
emotional and practical reasons for terminology used by these individuals cannot be understood
without direct input from their voices, and as such five different perspectives regarding identity
and terminology taken by Native American individuals are represented here. These examples are
taken from blog posts regarding various topics surrounding these ideas, and the tribes represented
include the Navajo, White Bear Clan, Cree, Metis, and Mi kmaq people. While each of the five
have different relationships to their Native ancestry, all five individuals take a perspective
regarding the use of the term two spirit. While all five take a positive stance on the use of the
word, applying it to themselves, their understanding and emotional attachment to the word varies.
For Navajo individual Jae Burbank, the discovery of being two spirit came after plans

Japanese Alien and Japanese-American Poets In U. S....
On February 19, 1942, Franklin Delano Roosevelt issued the infamous Executive Order 9066,
which resulted in the internment of 110,000 Japanese Aliens and Japanese Americans in
concentration camps because of the so called military threat, they posed. In 1945, poet Lawson
Fusao Inada wrote the following poem, titled Concentration Constellation, which refers to the
various relocation campsthat were used to contain these people:
In this earthly configuration,
We have, not points of light, but prominent barbs of dark...

reservation, and call those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Inada illustrates, government documents and written accounts are not the only way to study the
issues surrounding the internment; poetry, being a traditional and cherished practice brought over
from Japan and continued in the United States, serves to give a unique and informative perspective
into the lives of the Japanese internees. Not only does the poetry written by Japanese aliens and
American citizens of Japanese descent describe the living conditions in the relocation camps they
were imprisoned in, but it also demonstrates the array of emotions these people felt, including the
hope of one day being free, the anger at being imprisoned, and, most prominently, the sadness from
being away from home and loved ones.
Why was writing poetry so popular in the internment camps? Jori and Kay Nakano relate that
short poems were ideal forms for the internees expression of their pent up emotion, because of the
scarcity of writing paper. The Nakanos also point out that short poems were a Japanese tradition of
expression, and thus a form that the people of Japanese descent were comfortable with. Their
poetry offered a means of escape and relief, a way to vent and reflect in the harsh environment they
were trapped in. While commenting on his own experiences, Inada asserts that if it weren t for the
poem, the thoughts and feelings would have stayed submerged, unexpressed, gradually fading and
dispersing in my consciousness, and that

China s One Child Policy
China s population currently stands at 1.357 billion people. It is the most populous country in the
world and it is only increasing. The Chinese government has spent more than 40 years trying to
slow their population growth. They have done so through their controversial one child policy.
There is no denying that China s one child policy changed the lives of Chinese citizens when it the
Chinese Communist Party [CCP] in 1979 as a way of controlling population. Under Mao, the
government encouraged families to have as many children as possible, believing that a strong
nation grew out of a large population. By 1976, the population grew from 540 million people in
1949 to 940 million. The rapid increase in population stretched the resources that the CCP could
provide to the people. The government believed that a population control policy was the only way
they prevent the population from experiencing another dramatic increase in size . The CCP hoped
that the policy would alleviate some of the social and economic pressure an increasing population
created, and the policy has worked. According to data collected by the World Bank, China s birth
rate has fallen from 2.63 in 1980 to 1.217 as of 2014, preventing an estimate two hundred to four
hundred million births . For all its intended benefits, the one child policy has also brought many
unintended consequences, both harmful and beneficial; and these consequences have
disproportionately affect girl and women more than boys and men. The

The Art Style Of Art Nouveau, By Alphonse Mucha
Art Nouveau is a simplistic art style that was first introduced in 1880 in France, it then eventually
was driven across Europe. The style was the most popular art style at that time, which meant it was
produced in many different contexts and affected other art styles such as interior design,
architecture, households and jewellery making it a very flexible style. The style was flowing and
elegant with a whiplash effect, that resembled stems and blossoms of plants. This was aimed to
modernise design and escape the old historical style witch artists started to get tired off, this is
because their artwork started to almost resemble a photocopy, leading them to want something new

Comparing The American Revolution and The American Civil...
As we study American history we see that the saying, History repeats itself reveals much truth. As
we look closer at the American Revolution and the American Civil War, we can find many
similarities between the two. Another saying that is made known is that We learn from our
mistakes, ; but even the greatest men and women of our history did not follow. The main causes for
both wars were the fightfor liberty. If we are to analyze this issue in both wars, we see that the
conclusion of one war leads to the beginning of another. As Semisonic sings, Every new beginning

A pamphlet authored by Thomas Paine, became a real best seller and many after reading such
literature were ready to fight for their freedom. These legislatures were derived from the King of
England George III. He soon became the most disliked man in American homes. The Revolution
War brought the people together in a patriotic manner. Soon, a document that would change the
lives of many was constituted for the citizens of America. The Declaration of Independence was
then formed and granted all men freedom and equality.
Freedom was finally rewarded to Americans, but how they manipulate, it was up to them. Was
freedom and equality guaranteed for all men and women? Studying history we see that it does
differ and in the Declaration it states, all men are created equal. ; This gets interpreted as all white
men are created equal. In having such frame of mind, civilians began disputing. Not for the equal
rights primarily, but for the unlawful slavery that was occurring. This time in history many laws
and acts were distributed but often ignored such as the Fugitive Slave Acts 1850 and the Wilmont
Proviso of 1846. Both were set for the benefits in trying to start the unchaining of slavery. Similarly
to the Revolution, the Americans can be compared with the slaves of the United States. In parallel

Analysis Of The Movie Spike Lee
Spike Lee is an Afro American director who has developed more fame and importance in the last
20 years. He portrays his stories in a way that nothing is fictitious and many of them are written
about some real events. Lee has co produced many of his films and has acted in some small roles
within them. According to IMDb (2016), Lee s work consists of: 26 films, 30 television
programs, 45 commercials, 15 short films, starred in several films, and was a producer and writer
of many other works. Although, his films are somewhat irregular in terms of color palettes, shots,
and exposition. Regarding the plot, he is considered a drama director. Also, his works always
emphasize action and occasionally comedy.
Based on all the above, Lee s career will be analyzed from his early work in the film industry, his
career, and some of his most notable and recognized works.
For example, in many of the films I have seen so far, Spike Lee tends to substantiate his works in
many cultural, social, and political problems: besides the racism suffered by many African
Americans in the United States mainly. Lee became a director of promise with his first long
film, She has to have it (1986), according to McGowan (2014). This film was shot in around two
weeks and cost around $175,000 to make, but grossed more than $7 million, becoming in one of
the most profitable films created in 1986. Lee often takes a critical look at race relations, political
problems, crime, and violence. His film Do the

The Purpose Of The Pantheon
The Pantheon is one the greatest paradoxes in modern archeology. On the one hand, the structure s
preservation is absolutely remarkable and has allowed scholars from all over the world the
opportunity to study its design for centuries. Yet, for such a well known and iconic building, the
meaning behind the Pantheon remains uncertain. Many scholars, unsatisfied with the mainstream
theory that the building was a temple dedicated to all gods; have proposed their own unique
explanation for the Pantheon s purpose. Perhaps the most radical of these can be found in Adam
Ziolkowski s article Was Agrippa s Pantheon the Temple of Mars In Campo? ; which proposes, as
the title suggests, that the original Pantheon was actually the Temple of Mars in campo... Show

First, Ziolkowski notes that the Pantheon s southern neighbor, the Temple of Neptune, had a
similar change in purpose as it became the Basilica of Neptune. Ziolkowski cites the calendar
Fasti Palatii Urbinatis as the clue about the fate of these two buildings. Written around the same
time as the Pantheon s construction, 13 BC, the Fasti Palatii Urbinatis does not make any mention
of the temple of Mars and Neptune in Campo. However, this calendar only recorded temple that
were aedes publicae, public temples. If the two in campo temples were not aedes publicae, this
would explain their absence from this calendar. As to why the temple of Mar and Neptune in
Campo were not made into public temples, Ziolkowski cites the the only war Augustus ever lost,
that against Roman public opinion, which stubbornly refused to approve of monuments exalting
victories won in civil war. The two temple in campo were constructed to honor Agrippa s (and
Augustus s) land and sea victories, which would conflict with public opinion. By making them
both private temple, Agrippa avoided the forces that apparently made Augustus pull down his first
triumphal arch in the Forum. However not being aedes publicae, had a downside. Unlike a public
temple whose character and patron deity or deities were fixed and known to everybody, and could
not be changed except through the ritual of inauguration or rededication , a private temple
dedication was subject to more flexibility. Ziolkowski suggests that the same dissenters could have
sifted the changed the temples purposes after the reign of Emperor Augustus had ended. However,
Ziolkowski does offer another suspect for the two temple s

The Importance Of Entering Into Agricultural Swap
1.Swap is defined as an agreement or contract between counterparties for the purpose to manage
their exposure to risk. Our paper will specifically discuss about one of the commodity derivatives
called as Agricultural Swap and referring to the the Agriculture Swap Contract Product (ASC)
Disclosure Statement issued by Westpac Banking Corporation dated in 10 February 2016. The
main purpose of entering into Agricultural Swap is to manage the exposure of the agriculture
price s movement by locking the price of the agriculture for a long period (Barned 2012).
Agriculture seller or buyer is entitled to exchange a floating price for a fixed price for a specified
commodity (Westpac Banking Corporation 2016). Swaps have characteristics that similar and also
differentiate them from other derivatives instruments (McDonald 2006), which are as follow:
Swaps are categorized as non standardized contract; therefore they are traded over the counter
(OTC). It is also indicate that there is a room of privacy and flexibility to customize the contract
depending on the agreement between the relevant parties involved in the swap. Similar with the
others derivatives instruments, swaps have also a zero initial market value. This implies that parties
may enter and exit the swap contract without any cost besides the commissions and bid ask spread.
In commodity swaps, settlement could be arranged with either physical (e.g. commodities) or
financial (cash settlement). There are several

Homelessness
Access to Primary Care for Homeless People in the USA
History of the Topic
Homelessness is a significant health challenge to care system in the United States. Maness and
Khan state that over 610,000 people did not have a shelter in 2013 on any given night (Maness
Khan, 2014). Also, a study conducted by Health Quality Ontario (2016) reviewed homelessness
interventions between 1995 and 2015. The study indicates that the problem has been in existence
for quite some years. According to Maness and Khan (2014), an increase in the shortage of
affordable housing has been the primary trends responsible for homelessness in over thirty years.
Also, statistics indicated that about 14.3 percent of Americans and 10.5 percent of the families

On the other hand, care delivery systems that are tailor made jointly with a regular source of care
are among facilitators of access to care for the homeless (White Newman, 2014). Additionally,
orientation to clinic services was found to improve homeless people s access to care particularly
those without severe mental conditions. Studies on this topic have identified information sources
regarding homelessness as well as agencies that can support efforts aimed at addressing the
problem. Such sources include HCH and CHC programs. The National Health Care for the
Homeless Council (U.S.) (2011) provides the guide with necessary information regarding
homelessness in the U.S. thus becoming a resource for researchers as well as the public for those
concerned with homelessness.
Explored Topics by the Studies
Research work has explored various areas regarding homelessness. One of them is clinical and
medical condition that affects homeless people. As noted by Maness and Khan (2014), homeless
persons suffer the same health problems as the general population. However, unlike the general
population, individuals without shelter have long term exposure to risk factors as well as disease
agents. Such factors include poor sanitary conditions, all forms of abuse, violence, overcrowding,
poor nutrition, weather extremes, and trauma among others. The homeless are therefore exposed to
cardiovascular diseases such as

Technology And Technology
Over the past few years technology has advanced in many ways. There are many experts who
believe new technology is a threat to our brains. While others argue that new technology offers
many benefits to our brains like, enhancing our intellect, creativity, and mental capacity. In my
opinion, I think new technologyis and can be a threat to our brains because I believe technology is
replacing our ability to write, and read books. Also, while others might disagree with my
thoughts on new technology, I believe technology has become a threat to our brains because it
has consumed and become a bigger part of our lives today. An example of this scenario, is the essay

Further on, new technology has become a threat to our brains because it causes distractions. I
personally have suffered from distractions on the Net while doing school work on it, and also
while I use the Net to read. Some examples of distractions on the Net are advertisements, and
getting carried away browsing other websites. Another reason why new technology has become
a threat to our brains, is because we value efficiency over quality, which is detrimental both to
our brains and quality of our work. For example, I have found out that while it is easier and
quicker to acquire information on the Net, it is harder for our minds to process the information
and our quality of work is sometimes poor. Another reason why the Net is a threat to our brains
and detrimental to our mind is the essay Does Texting Affect Writing? by Michaela Cullington. In
the essay, the author Michaela Cullington talks about and asks the question if texting is affecting
our ability to write. One example of how texting can affect our writing is according to Cullington,
In order to more quickly type what they are trying to say, many people use abbreviations instead
of words. Michaela Cullington explains in this quote how texting can affect writing by talking
about how people use abbreviations instead of words in order to text quicker. According to

Emily Dickinson s Impact On American Poetry
Emily Dickinson is one of the most famous poets that has ever lived, next to Shakespeare and
Edgar Allan Poe. Interestingly, Dickinson published less than ten poems before she died. Although
Dickinson never saw any success in her lifetime, she still made a huge impact on American poetry
today. Emily and Edward Dickinson gave birth to Emily Dickinsonon December 10, 1830 (Emily
Dickinson s Bio). She was an exceptionally well educated for a woman at the time and attended
Amherst Academy for seven years. Even though Dickinson attended the seminary, she did not join
the Calvinist church, which her whole family was a part of. She struggled with the idea of original
sin and just could not accept the severity of beliefs Her rejection of

The Tragedy Of Clytemnestra And Cassandra s Agamemnon
Jordan Arnold Professor Wilder
Blue Humanities
9/19/17
Prompt 3 In the tragedy of Agamemnon, both Clytemnestra and Cassandra have their opinions of
Agamemnon. He has shown the type of King he truly is. Clytemnestra, his wife, has took action in
her own hands when it came to dealing with Agamemnon. This resulted in his brutal death where he
least expected it. Cassandra, priestess of Apollo, was cursed with gift of prophecy but no one will
believe her. With that being said she knew things were going to end bad with Agamemnon before
everyone else. This is why Cassandra remains a noble prophet when Agamemnon tries to lead her
into temptation. With them being the voice of the play they commonly explain their emotions
towards Agamemnon out of anger. They both know that the things that he is doing is morally
wrong and not the work of a honest king.
Clytemnestra had to deal with things that a wife should not have to deal with. Was it him
sacrificing his own daughter for the gods, or even him having a mistress while he was gone at
war.Agamemnon s main goal was to show that he had dominance over her along with his
kingdom. She envied the fact that he was able to make these decisions without any sense of
sympathy for anyone. The death of Agamemnon was revenge for the death of her daughter.
Agamemnon killed a deer in a grove sacred to Artemis so the gods did not provide wind for the sail
boats once they tried to set sail to Troy to go to war. Then it is revealed

The Workings Of Christ
In all of Paul s writings an array of words are expressed to describe the workings of Christ. In
many of these cases thorough exegesis is necessary to understand the true content and application
for daily life. One of the heaviest of these words that has caused a large amount of debate
throughout history, and one that is imbedded in the book of Galatians, is justification. Nonetheless,
the means that individuals receive this form of justice is through faith, and faith alone according to
Paul. Faith is the factor of response to the gospel message. The central argument in the Galatian
epistle is whether one follows the works of the law or has faith in JesusChrist. Paul s stance here
conveys through the works of Jesus Christ, God has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ambiguity of the letter s destination stems from whether Paul was writing to believers in North
or South Galatia. The region of Galatia resides in Asia Minor, commonly known as Turkey today. If
this letter was aimed for the Northern district, this epistle was undoubtedly written between Paul s
second and third missionary journeys following the Council of Jerusalem found in Acts 15. Similar
speech is given in Galatians 2:1 10 making this opinion plausible. (Porter 2016:187). On the
contrary, if the destination was South Galatia, then the letter could have been written much
earlier; as early as Paul s first missionary journey in fact. This would then place the letter prior to
the Council of Jerusalem. If the epistle was written at this time, Galatians 2:1 10 could be
referencing Paul s visit to Jerusalem found in Acts 11:27 20 and 12:25 or even a separate meeting
not mentioned in Acts (2016:188). The dates of composition will be discussed once the context of
the audience is considered.
Before the late nineteenth century, many scholars accepted the North Galatia view when minimal
archaeological exploration had been done limiting critics to create their assumptions upon literary
analysis. The hypotheses vary. One states that Luke never acknowledges Paul s travel to Lystra and
Derbe on the first missionary journey mentioned in Acts 14:6, 20 21 in the letter. Instead, Luke
notes Lycaonia which is a different

Dormant Commerce Clause Essay
Can you briefly explain what the dormant commerce clause is?
The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine
established by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing
legislation that inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce
clause limits the power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause
in the U.S. Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007).
Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business?
The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the
state places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not
acted on behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). An example would
be, in the case of C A Carbone, Inc. v. Town of Clarkstown, where the Court overturned an
apparently alleged town law that required all solid waste be treated at a privately ... Show more

However, this embargo in contrast to out of state discrimination does not prevent a state from
exercising its police power to protect state citizens, as long as the power is exercised evenly and
equally. For example, if a state wanted to weigh commercial vehicles on its highways to ensure
they did not exceed maximum weight, that feat would be permissible if the trucks came from out
of state, as long as the requirement applied equally to all trucks on that state s highways ( The

The Individual Vs. Society In Harrison Bergeron
Did you know the brain responds to stimuli in 386 milliseconds? The human brain is designed to
save the body first, and by extension every instinctual response a person has is in an effort to save
the individual. This natural occurrence in over seven billion organisms exemplifies Herbert
Spencer s survival of the fittest philosophy . The brainthinks alongside the same principles. The
priority of the brain is staying alive, not keeping others alive. The individual is more important than
society due to the fact that society currently doesn t believe in progress, but in sustained mediocrity
and that biologically, the epicenter of every humansays to stay alive and worry about others once he
or she is safe.

By extension, society won t function well unless the wellness of the individual is a priority. This
is clearly shown in Harrison Bergeron. The most gifted members of society are handicapped in
order to create a dystopic equality. The population is not happy, and although it is not said what
the outcome of the society is, it is easy to predict that it will fall, as all societies do. The USA s
society in Harrison Bergeron is an example of a poor society failing. However, failure isn t limited
to dystopic regimes. For example, one of the most influential societies to live on Earth ( Ancient
Rome) became successful after making the individual a priority. Before Rome became the most
successful republic in history, it was an oligarchical monarchy known as Etrusca. However, Etrusca
fell due lack of representation in government, or by extension, a pro society government causing
dissent and malcontent in the population, leading to revolution and eventually developing into what
is now known as Rome. This discontent in the Etruscan society can be found throughout every
society in the history of the human race. The Republic of Rome became successful due to the
importance placed on the individual, making Rome unique to other societies. However, after the
wars versus neighboring Carthage, Rome s government became weak enough to allow Julius Caesar
to rise to power, leading to the Roman Empire. Although Rome had made the individual a priority
orginally, it still wasn t enough. It is therefore logistically impossible to create a utopian everlasting
society. Due to this guaranteed failure, the welfare of society isn t as important as the welfare of the

U.s. Security Interests On Egyptian Citizens
Introduction Over the past five years Egypt has been in a growing state of turmoil. It has suffered
two coup d Г©tats that has resulted in five different leaders, and a constant change in national aims.
It temporarily lost US economic aid and military support, and the recent studies have brought to
light the effect that global warming will have on Egyptian citizens in the near future. If you
consider all these aspects together, you may assume that Egyptis in risk of soon becoming another
problem state for U.S. security interests. However, if you take a closer look at the changes made
in just the last two years, you can see that the opposite is true. This paper will argue that rather
than being a hindrance to U.S. security interests, Egypt has the potential to be one of its greatest
allies. To do this, it will first look at the overall importance of Egypt in the National Security s
objectives of the United States. It will then review the history of US Egyptian Relations, Egypt s
military involvement with the United States, and the recent political changes that are shaping
Egypt s future. Then finally this paper will take a moment to exam the leadership of Egypt s
newest President, Abdel Fatteh el Sisi. In doing so we will be able to see how Egypt is poised to
be a key player, in accomplishing the U.S. security objectives, and gain a better understanding of
why the U.S. must make it a priority to support Egypt s newly established leadership.

Battle Of Little Bighorn Analysis
The Battle of Little Bighorn took place between the 7th regiment of U.S Cavalry, commanded by
George Armstrong Custer, and the Native American tribes the Cheyenne, Sioux, and Arapaho.
Outraged by repeated intrusions of white men in the Black Hills, which the Indians considered
sacred land, the tribes defiantly left their reservations to gather in Montana and fight for their land.
In response the Army dispatched three columns to attack in a coordinated fashion and force the
Indians back into their reservations. One of these columns contained George Custer, a general in
command of the U.S 7th Cavalry division and it s 12 companies. After spotting an Indian outpost
about 15 miles along the Rosebud River in Montana, Custer ordered the men under his command to
attack without waiting for reinforcements. Custer did not realize at the time that the number of
warriors in the village had numbered three times his own, and ultimately lost both his life and 230
of his men. Long before becoming a prominent figure in American history, George Custer began his

Emile Durkheim Social Fact Essay
Stated in The Rules of Sociological Method Durkheim defines social fact to concepts and
expectations that come from society, not the individual. Many examples prove that social fact
only exists where social organization is present, such as the legal system, as well as the education
system. Durkheim states that social organization is not needed in social fact, and that social fact
is all those issues that society pushes to be acted orderly.
The legal system is a prime example of social fact. The legal system is a strict set of laws and
regulations that must be followed by each individual. It is to society s interest that these
regulations be followed. When someone makes the decision to take someone else s life, there is a
process that is taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The offender planned out this murder, therefore it points him to a path of legal
stages that come to no surprise to him or society. If a driver is pulling out of her driveway, and
kills someone because she wasn t aware of her blind spot, she then would go through an entirely
different process. Factors taken into consideration would be that she was sober, there was no
intent to harm, and physically could not see the victim. She then would be taken through steps of
the legal system as well. When reading those examples, it is no shock to society what is going to
happen to each of these offenders. The reason for this is because rules and regulations of the law
are at interest of society. When these laws are broken, there is an orderly system to deal with
each and every offense, therefore making the legal system a social fact.
Religion is another example of social fact. Christians baptize babies very quickly after birth,
church is attended on Sundays, and there is a priest present every day at church. In Islamic
religions, prayers are to be done everyone morning before sunrise, until sunrise, with no issue to
be an excuse for distraction. All though the example of religion is not at systematic

Standardized Testing Is Effective And Effective
Education has been an important part of society for centuries. Over the years it has slowly evolved
into what it is today. The topic of education has been controversial since the beginning. It seems as
though there is always someone that sees a need for change in how students are being taught and
assessed. More specifically, many people think that standardized testing is not an effective way to
assess students. While on the other hand, many also believe that standardized testing is the most
efficient and effective way to assess people of all ages. The debate over standardized testing has
been shown to effect students and the community in many different ways. Standardized
assessments have had huge impacts with both teachers and students. Whether one thinks
standardized testing is effective and efficient or misdirecting and unproductive it is a big part of the
educational system. While the argument may present that standardized tests leads to simulated
knowledge, others argue that standardized tests are very effective in assessing students. In
America, standardized testing started to show up during the Industrial Revolution when more and
more children began attending school rather than working in factories or on family farms. Due to
a back to basics movement during the 1970s, there was a big emphasis on low level functional
skills and the proliferation of minimum competency tests (Marzano 9). However by the time we get

The Shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation
The years following the American Revolution, better known as the Critical Period, were some of
the most vulnerable moments in the extensive history of the United States. The Critical Period is
infamous for a post war recession, disorganization and competition of states, as well as a total lack
of unity about the nation. The Articles of Confederation, ratified during the onset of this tumultuous
period, added new dimension to early Americans idea of national government. The Articles formed
a loosely united country under a highly restricted federal government. This apparent aversion of
strong central government was rooted in the former colonists fear of a sequel to their monarchial
horror that was England. Some believe that the Articles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Five years earlier, in a letter from the Rhode Island Assembly to Congress the assembly concluded
that taxation on imported goods creates inequality between the commercial and the agrarian
societies of America (Document 1). The Rhode Island Assembly brings up the idea that state
governments were allowed to tax freely without congressional regulation, while Congress posed to
levy importation taxes geared towards the Northern, more commercial part of America. This letter
speaks to the injustices of taxation, and taxation was the main reason for Shays s Rebellion. Shays s
Rebellion caused that unjust and disorganized means of taxation further exemplifies the failure that

ineffective government is inadequate foreign affairs. Prior to the revolution, the thirteen colonies

however, in my research I have found that this method is recommended by doctors and nurses
seeming to be a very effective measure in reducing the incidence of VAP combined with other
methods. (American College of Physicians, August 2006) The Annals of Internal Medicine was

care starts with the assessment of the patient s mouth and acts as measure for needs for each
patient. There have been studies performed using different solutions including chlorhexidine

patients being the control group (using pink mouth swabs and traditional methods of oral care) and

that may affect quality and functionality. Low cost of production: Although the initial cost of
setting up a 3D printing facility may be high, the cost of the 3D printer is remunerated through
the overall savings in the form of labour costs and time saved. Equal effort for small scale and
mass manufacturing ensures that the cost of production is relatively low. No storage cost: Since

series, so this show is my first look at his work and needless to say I ll tune into anything he has

Roy Williams Cheating
Cheating, you may do it, you probably have done it somewhere in your life, but what about the
penalties you may suffer for being caught? People cheat in many things: school, sports, and, but not
limited to, relationships. But there is many ways to cheat in those multiple examples, like in sports
you can cheat with: drugs, academic eligibility, or even through recruiting. The topic of this paper
is college basketball and cheating. What makes college basketball coachesbreak the rules, is it worth
the penalty you might ultimately face?
Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was
actually caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy
did cheat. Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball player from 2002 2005 was one of the
leading scores on the 2005 National Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy
Williams academic scandal. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then ended up
being unsigned in the league by the year 2009, admitted to taking bogus classes designed to help
athletes stay academically eligible (Delsohn). Rashad McCants is the only person who came out
against Roy Williams in the academic scandal. The classes Rashad McCants referred to recently
were exposed in his interview with Steve Delsohn, a writer for ESPN. The class was a paper
class, that did not require you to show up to class at all, but rather to turn in a term paper at the end
of the semester to receive

Manufacturing Of Wooden Shoes And Aprons
Manufacturing Dutch wooden shoes and aprons
Stacie Hart
Trine University
Introduction
Mass manufacturing entails the production of products in large quantities and it s the advantages
that come with such kind of production that makes it attractive to many manufacturing companies
(Libralato et al., 2012). One of the advantages of mass production is that all equipment, material and
labor required are located under the same roof. Mass manufacturing is profound in various
industries including the automobile industry, textile industry, and telecommunication industry
among others (Qiao et al., 2006).
This essay will delve on mass manufacturing of Dutch wooden shoes and aprons including
presentation of budget estimates where applicable. An in depth analysis was conducted on existing
literature on the same in order to understand the traditional process of manufacturing these products
followed by an analysis of some recent literature explaining the modernized process of
manufacturing these products. In addition to that, the review of these literatures helped in
understanding how the use of these products has evolved over the years.
1st division: Wooden shoe manufacturing
The wooden Dutch clogs were water proof, which made them very useful while working in
marshy fields. Besides being used in fields while working, some of the wooden shoes were made
to look colorful so that they could be used to attend occasions and even go to church. With
industrialization, however,

Naturalism As A Genre Of Naturalism
Naturalism as a genre depicts commonplace happenings dictated by powers larger than humans,
such as nature or society. As Phillip Barrish puts it, Literary works ... traditionally identified with
naturalism depict characters whose lives are controlled or determined by immense, impersonal
forces that the characters themselves can barely understand, let alone effectively resist (116).
Obviously, not all naturalist literature is created equal; different authors choose to focus on
different aspects of the genre. Specifically, this study will be exploring the differences between
divergent interpretations of naturalism: the first, a story controlled by the forces of nature, and, the
second, a story manipulated by the power of societal structures.
First, let s take a closer look at these two branches of naturalism. The naturalism based in nature
involves both the nature of the human body, including things such as hunger and death, and the
influences of the natural world itself, such as hurricanes and snowstorms. This varies significantly
from the form of naturalism that roots itself in the authorities of society such as the economy and
social class limitations. While these two subdivisions of naturalism are perceivably unique from
one another, Barrish explains that naturalist writers frequently blur together the natural and social
orders (116). That is to say, there is a fine line between the two that is repeatedly smudged by
authors. Jack London s To Build a Fire and

Identification Of Civilian Population By The Hampshire...
The document is an from an archive taken from the Hampshire Record Office which includes a
government poster published in Britain during the time when WW2 had just began and evacuation
process had started to take place. Whilst carrying out research it is important to be able to
understand more about the context of this time. To some extent this poster is able to help us with
our understandingsurrounding some of the details about the evacuation process as well as being
able to analyse some of the information that the government provided the citizens with during this
time. Whilst trying to understand and develop my research on evacuees and how records were
kept and handled, this document specifically is able to provide some insight into the different
areas across Great Britain and possibly develop upon this in order to compare and contrast research
that is compiled over a period of time.
The title of this document is Important announcement Dispersal of civilian population , this clearly
shows us that the purpose of the document was to inform civilians and to provide them with
important information that was necessary for the majority of the public to read and understand
attentively. The first section of the poster is titled, Children under 15 . In this section of the poster,
it addresses the issue of children under 15 travelling and how they must be accompanied by their
mothers or another responsible adult at all times. This suggests that the

The Health Care Crisis Of The United States Essay
Health care spending in the United States of America as a percentage of the economy has reached
astonishing heights, equating to 17.7 percent. This number is shocking when compared to other
counties; in Australia health care is 8.9 percent, in United Kingdom 9.4 percent, in Canada 11.2
percent. If the American health care system were to hypothetically become its own economy, it
would be the fifth largest in the world. While these statistics sound troubling, they lead us to look
for answers about the problems surrounding our system. The first health insurance company was
created in the 1930s to give all American families an equal opportunity for hospital care and
eventually led to a nationwide economic and social controversy that erupted in the 1990s and
continued to be shaped by the government, insurance companies, doctors, and American citizens. In
this paper, I will go in to detail about the various opinions regarding the controversy, the history
behind health insurance companies, and the main dilemmas brought out by the health care crisis.
Greedy insurance companies combined with high costs of doctor visits and pharmaceutical drugs or
the inefficient hospitals all over America can only describe the beginning to this in depth crisis.
Recently, the United States health care industry has become know for the outrageous costs of
insurance models, developments of various social and health services programs, and the frequent
changes in medicinal technology. One potential

ii.With the aid of diagrams explain the difference between a Series and Parallel Hybrid Electric
Vehicles.
Both series and parallel hybrid electric vehicles primarily contain the same parts, however, they are
configured differently. Both types of hybrid electric vehiclecontain a gasoline based engine, a
battery which is rechargeable, an inverter, transmission and an electric motor. The main
difference between the two, disregarding the difference in sizes of the separate parts, is that
series hybrid electric vehicles have a generator whereas in a parallel hybrid electric vehicle the
motor acts as a generator. Moreover, in a parallel HEV, the engine is directly connected to the
wheels, however this is not the case in a series HEV.
In a parallel HEV, the motor and the combustion engine work in accordance to power the vehicle.
The gasoline based engine and motor are both connected to the transmission. As fuel travels to the
engine or the battery is turned on, it propels the car.
In a series HEV, the motor is charged by the battery or generator (powered by gasoline based
engine). Thus, the gasoline engine does not directly propel the car, unlike in the parallel HEV. The
transmission is responsible for determining how much energy is required and whether to retrieve it
from the battery or the generator. Pictured above, is a parallel HEV system, as made obvious by
the position of the electric motor and

The Role of the Chorus in Henry V by William Shakespeare...
The Role of the Chorus in Henry V by William Shakespeare The role of the Chorus in the
Shakespeare s play, Henry V, is significant. Due to the subject matter that the play deals with, it
is hard to present in the way that it deserves. The Chorus helps the audience follow the play by
helping them to picture things as they were through the use of imagery. It uses descriptive
language in describing events that take place in the play. The Chorus also helps in making the
plot of the play flow together better by filling the time lapses that occur between acts due to the
fact that the event being depicted in only a few hours actually occurred over several years, leaving
some gaps between events. It also explains what happens in an act... Show more content on

The chorus asks the audience to picture the armed forces and their horses and the battle scenes
that took place when watching the play. And, that the events that happened took place over
several years, and for the sake of brevity, many parts will have to be left out leaving many gaps
throughout the story, jumping from place to place, turning the accomplishment of many years
into an hourglass; for the which to supply, admit me Chorus to this history (li 30 32). The
Chorus will help to fill in the gaps and to explain what is going on so the audience will not get
lost as the play jumps around. The Chorus ends by asking the audience to be patient as they view
the play. In this instance, the Chorus function is setting the stage for the rest of the play. It doesn
t reveal the plot or make any character developments. Instead, it serves as a mediator. Its function
is to prepare the audience for the play that they are about to watch. In Act II, the function of the
Chorus is to fill in the lapse of time that has occurred since the time when Henry made the
decision to go to war against France. The audience is informed that the English have been
preparing to go off to battle. All the young men of England are joining King Henry s forces. The
Chorus tells of these brave men, Now thrive the armorers, and honor s thought reigns solely

Understanding Schizophrenia Essay
Understanding Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia, although affecting only one percent of the population, has a direct affect on society
today. This disease, if left untreated, poses threat to health care professionals (including
psychiatrists), law enforcement personnel, and family members responsible for the care and
support of the schizophrenia patient. This paper addresses the causes of schizophrenia and the
myths surrounding this complicated ailment, the affect of untreated or misunderstood aspects of
schizophrenia has on society and important crisis intervention strategies for those in close contact to
victims of schizophrenia.

The risk is even greater for those relatives who are genetically similar to the schizophrenic. This
theory poses important debates however. If schizophrenia is caused by simple genetics, identical
twins should both be affected by schizophrenia if one twin has been diagnosed. It is rare to find a
majority of identical twins affected. Studies have found there to be a weak genetic link to
schizophrenia. A recent study of high risk children found there to be little proof of a genetic link.
The contrast between offspring of ill parents and offspring of normal parents was significant only
for gross motor skills, but the direct affect of an ill parent on development of schizophrenia related
psychoses was not significant, which indicated a weak genetic model. (Erlenmeyer Kimling, 28)
Erlenmeyer Kimling also noted that environment and early developmental damage could play a
role in the onset on schizophrenia. This disease may have a series of triggers that could bring on
the onset of the disease. These triggers could include complications during pregnancy and/or labor,
prenatal exposure to a virus (especially in the fifth month when brain development occurs), and
stress throughout the stages of life. (Dincin 103)
Because of the complexity of the disease, many myths surround schizophrenia. One of these myths
is poor parenting causes schizophrenia. Sigmund Freud and psychiatrists since him have regarded
the family as the key in the

To What Extent Does the Human Relations Approach to the...
This paper compares and contrasts two popular management schools of thought, Scientific
Management and the Human Relations Approach. Both methods are designed to maximise
business potential through better organisation, but they differ greatly in the way they seek to
achieve it. Scientific Management represents an organisation centred approach that is based on
improving worker output through optimised technical methods and strict management. The Human
Relations Approach focuses on the workers themselves and suggests strong worker relationships,
recognition and achievement are motivators for increased productivity (Daft, 2006). This essay will
define each management method and consider the main contributors to these schools of thought. It

Large manufacturing businesses such as Ford and General Motors were experiencing rapid
expansion and were looking to management methods to increase output and focus the efficiency of
their workers. Many of Taylor s principles were adopted in factory production and throughout the
20th century the application of scientific principles had a marked affect on productivity. Ironically,
as a result of increased production, the general standard of living improved and so did worker
dissatisfaction with the method. Union management and a popular interest in the human factor (by
behavioural scientists) resulted in a productivity slowdown. This prompted organisations to relocate
their work force to developing countries with cheaper labour, a mirror of the original conditions that
allowed scientific management to thrive in the west (Oman, 2000). Organisations were now looking
to new management methods to satisfy the increasing needs of their workforce and regain
productivity and many found it in the form of the Human Relations Approach (Wilson 1990).
The Human Relations Approach represents a significant departure from the automated and
dehumanized approach of Scientific Management. Where Scientific Management concentrates on
technique and output, the Human Relations Approach focuses on the individual and organisational
change through human interactions (Baldridge 1972). It challenges the concept of managers think

How To Cope With Drugs In Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin
In Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin is the story about a musician who is struggling to cope with
his depression through his music and drugs. Baldwin writes this story about himself by bypassing
any direct notation of him. As he is trying to break the inequalities that the people during that time
are facing. Many people like Sonny are having a problem with drugs which ultimately gets him
arrested. Now he has to find his place in the world with the many things that he faces in his
everyday life. Baldwin illustrates how drugs, music, and the support of family helps Sonny with
the depression that he is feeling in his society. As a way for Sonny to cope with his depression
he turned to drugs. Baldwin writes, I d rather blow my brains out than go through this again
(296). Sonny was tired of having to go through the same thing every time. To the point where he
wants to the point he wants to die. Drugs can give a person a sense of lost time. That when they
take the drug it feels as though that the things or the worries in life are very small. For musicians
drugs help them have a growth and realization of the love that they have for their music. The drug
in take, people that love their music and them as well as the... Show more content on

  • 2. Introduction of Art Nouveau Introduction to Art Nouveau The Art Nouveau ( new art ) movement was one of the first departures from classical art and design, towards a new modernism. The Modernism and Art Nouveau movements occurred during what was known in France as the Belle Г‰poque, or beautiful era period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The movement was primarily influenced by the radical work of Czech (Moravian) artist Alfons Mucha, Swiss decorative artist EugГЁne Grasset, and English illustrator Aubrey Beardsley ( The Peacock Skirt ) and the ground breaking architecture and design work of Hector Guimard of Paris and Antoni GaudГ of Barcelona. The Art Nouveau movement focussed heavily on the themes of nature, fantasy, and the female form, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In particular because of the art gallery La Maison de l Art Nouveau , which was opened as a showroom for the new art by a Japanese art collector, Siegfried Bing. All the Art Nouveau artists were largely reacting against the Classic aesthetic, a style described as often fussy and inhibited. They found a freeing vocabulary in natural and organic forms. The movement s signature motif was the S curve, which might be found in a flower s stem on a brooch or the trail of smoke from a cigarette depicted in a theater poster. The Art Nouveau artists were not shy about the naked body, contrary to their predecessors, and the Art Nouveau style is often described as a feminine one. Reason that is the case is that everything that happens from a shooting of innocent people to the fires that were set to the churches in the south. Everyone around the world in different countries also has their own definition and that is because they have faced the horror of constant terrorist attacks in the past 20+ years. The bloodshed that happens on a daily basis is why it is known as terrorism. For one it s conducted by an organized group of individuals who seek to spread their beliefs onto others who have their own religion. The current definition according to the State Department website is broken down into two parts which is domestic terrorism, and international terrorism. Both are broken down to describe what they both mean and who the individuals that conduct such attacks are. The new mysterious fossils could possibly be a missing link in human evolutionbetween apes and humans. Science is always changing as scientist are constantly making new discoveries. This new mysterious species has the potential to expand and fill in the gaps of humanevolutionbut it takes time and should not be rushed in order to execute the findings as accurately as possible. In 2013, a breakthrough in relation to evolution occurred when fossils were found in South Africa in the Rising Star cave. Paleoanthropologist Lee Berger, discovered Homo naledi with the help of Steven Tucker and Rick Hunter (Shreeve 2015). When Tucker and Hunter first came across the fossil bones deep in the cave they found part of a jaw with some teeth still in place. One of my favorite quotes is You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have is a quote that might connect to some more than others In all, this quote represents struggle and the resilience someone has to possess to make it through whatever they re going through. The Jamestown S Klallam tribe(The Strong People) originated in 1874 near the eastern end of the strait of Juan De Fuca, which is Northwestern Oregon today .The tribe has always lived in the upper Washington area where they thrived on the agriculture and wildlife . Soon after white settlers moved in and pushed the S klallam people out and forced them to relocate. The tribe then moved to a new community that had all naturally resources called Jamestown, named after James balch who was a leader within the tribe hints the renowned name. • 8. Unjust And Uninhibited Control In The Daily Prophet Unjust and uninhibited control is an innate trait of bureaucratism, as a byproduct of an institution s quest for efficiency. In perpetuation of their lack of limits, bureaucrats create survival networks across spheres, and thus are more difficult to bring down. In regards to the Potter series, the Ministry creates a network with The Daily Prophet. Bureaucracy knows no limits, and may take unjust actions. The Daily Prophet publishing deceiving articles is unethical by general contemporary standards; however, by bureaucratic definition the institution is self justifying, and defines themselves as the most rational organization. The Ministry believes that they have proper justification in using the newspaper to their advantage, and the newspaper plays along. In doing so, they expand past the boundaries between public and private affairs by exploiting Harry. The Daily Prophet is the Ministry s pawn in their obsession with order, which in itself is disordering according to bureaucratic politics. The Daily Prophet s corrupt articles only create more disorder even though they have the goal of preventing panic. Any time that there is a group of elites and a public, there are sure to be elements populist politics found. This is especially true when the group of elites exercise their power to deceive the mass. • 9. Native American And First Nations Gender Identities Essay One of the difficulties in studying and assessing the effects and causes of changing terminologies and beliefs regarding Native American and First Nations gender identities is the incredible variety between both the histories of different tribes and the individual s understanding of personal identity. It is a frequent and recurring problem in academia surrounding minority groups, whether they be racial, ethnic, sexual, or gender minorities, that the voices of actual members of the group being studied are ignored. What they are saying can be sterilized, particularly when the researcher is not a member of the group. The reality of the emotional and practical reasons for terminology used by these individuals cannot be understood without direct input from their voices, and as such five different perspectives regarding identity and terminology taken by Native American individuals are represented here. These examples are taken from blog posts regarding various topics surrounding these ideas, and the tribes represented include the Navajo, White Bear Clan, Cree, Metis, and Mi kmaq people. While each of the five have different relationships to their Native ancestry, all five individuals take a perspective regarding the use of the term two spirit. While all five take a positive stance on the use of the word, applying it to themselves, their understanding and emotional attachment to the word varies. For Navajo individual Jae Burbank, the discovery of being two spirit came after plans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On February 19, 1942, Franklin Delano Roosevelt issued the infamous Executive Order 9066, which resulted in the internment of 110,000 Japanese Aliens and Japanese Americans in concentration camps because of the so called military threat, they posed. In 1945, poet Lawson Fusao Inada wrote the following poem, titled Concentration Constellation, which refers to the various relocation campsthat were used to contain these people: In this earthly configuration, We have, not points of light, but prominent barbs of dark... As Inada illustrates, government documents and written accounts are not the only way to study the issues surrounding the internment; poetry, being a traditional and cherished practice brought over from Japan and continued in the United States, serves to give a unique and informative perspective into the lives of the Japanese internees. Not only does the poetry written by Japanese aliens and American citizens of Japanese descent describe the living conditions in the relocation camps they were imprisoned in, but it also demonstrates the array of emotions these people felt, including the hope of one day being free, the anger at being imprisoned, and, most prominently, the sadness from being away from home and loved ones. Why was writing poetry so popular in the internment camps? Jori and Kay Nakano relate that short poems were ideal forms for the internees expression of their pent up emotion, because of the scarcity of writing paper. The Nakanos also point out that short poems were a Japanese tradition of expression, and thus a form that the people of Japanese descent were comfortable with. Their poetry offered a means of escape and relief, a way to vent and reflect in the harsh environment they were trapped in. While commenting on his own experiences, Inada asserts that if it weren t for the poem, the thoughts and feelings would have stayed submerged, unexpressed, gradually fading and dispersing in my consciousness, and that ... • 12. China s One Child Policy China s population currently stands at 1.357 billion people. It is the most populous country in the world and it is only increasing. The Chinese government has spent more than 40 years trying to slow their population growth. They have done so through their controversial one child policy. There is no denying that China s one child policy changed the lives of Chinese citizens when it the Chinese Communist Party [CCP] in 1979 as a way of controlling population. Under Mao, the government encouraged families to have as many children as possible, believing that a strong nation grew out of a large population. By 1976, the population grew from 540 million people in 1949 to 940 million. The rapid increase in population stretched the resources that the CCP could provide to the people. The government believed that a population control policy was the only way they prevent the population from experiencing another dramatic increase in size . The CCP hoped that the policy would alleviate some of the social and economic pressure an increasing population created, and the policy has worked. According to data collected by the World Bank, China s birth rate has fallen from 2.63 in 1980 to 1.217 as of 2014, preventing an estimate two hundred to four hundred million births . For all its intended benefits, the one child policy has also brought many unintended consequences, both harmful and beneficial; and these consequences have disproportionately affect girl and women more than boys and men. Based on all the above, Lee s career will be analyzed from his early work in the film industry, his career, and some of his most notable and recognized works. For example, in many of the films I have seen so far, Spike Lee tends to substantiate his works in many cultural, social, and political problems: besides the racism suffered by many African Americans in the United States mainly. Lee became a director of promise with his first long film, She has to have it (1986), according to McGowan (2014). This film was shot in around two weeks and cost around $175,000 to make, but grossed more than $7 million, becoming in one of the most profitable films created in 1986. • 16. The Purpose Of The Pantheon The Pantheon is one the greatest paradoxes in modern archeology. On the one hand, the structure s preservation is absolutely remarkable and has allowed scholars from all over the world the opportunity to study its design for centuries. Yet, for such a well known and iconic building, the meaning behind the Pantheon remains uncertain. Many scholars, unsatisfied with the mainstream theory that the building was a temple dedicated to all gods; have proposed their own unique explanation for the Pantheon s purpose. Perhaps the most radical of these can be found in Adam Ziolkowski s article Was Agrippa s Pantheon the Temple of Mars In Campo? ; which proposes, as the title suggests, that the original Pantheon was actually the Temple of Mars in campo... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, Ziolkowski notes that the Pantheon s southern neighbor, the Temple of Neptune, had a similar change in purpose as it became the Basilica of Neptune. Ziolkowski cites the calendar Fasti Palatii Urbinatis as the clue about the fate of these two buildings. Written around the same time as the Pantheon s construction, 13 BC, the Fasti Palatii Urbinatis does not make any mention of the temple of Mars and Neptune in Campo. However, this calendar only recorded temple that were aedes publicae, public temples. If the two in campo temples were not aedes publicae, this would explain their absence from this calendar. As to why the temple of Mar and Neptune in Campo were not made into public temples, Ziolkowski cites the the only war Augustus ever lost, that against Roman public opinion, which stubbornly refused to approve of monuments exalting victories won in civil war. The two temple in campo were constructed to honor Agrippa s (and Augustus s) land and sea victories, which would conflict with public opinion. By making them both private temple, Agrippa avoided the forces that apparently made Augustus pull down his first triumphal arch in the Forum. However not being aedes publicae, had a downside. Unlike a public temple whose character and patron deity or deities were fixed and known to everybody, and could not be changed except through the ritual of inauguration or rededication , a private temple dedication was subject to more flexibility. Ziolkowski suggests that the same dissenters could have sifted the changed the temples purposes after the reign of Emperor Augustus had ended. • 17. The Importance Of Entering Into Agricultural Swap 1.Swap is defined as an agreement or contract between counterparties for the purpose to manage their exposure to risk. Our paper will specifically discuss about one of the commodity derivatives called as Agricultural Swap and referring to the the Agriculture Swap Contract Product (ASC) Disclosure Statement issued by Westpac Banking Corporation dated in 10 February 2016. The main purpose of entering into Agricultural Swap is to manage the exposure of the agriculture price s movement by locking the price of the agriculture for a long period (Barned 2012). Agriculture seller or buyer is entitled to exchange a floating price for a fixed price for a specified commodity (Westpac Banking Corporation 2016). Swaps have characteristics that similar and also differentiate them from other derivatives instruments (McDonald 2006), which are as follow: Swaps are categorized as non standardized contract; therefore they are traded over the counter (OTC). It is also indicate that there is a room of privacy and flexibility to customize the contract depending on the agreement between the relevant parties involved in the swap. Similar with the others derivatives instruments, swaps have also a zero initial market value. This implies that parties may enter and exit the swap contract without any cost besides the commissions and bid ask spread. In commodity swaps, settlement could be arranged with either physical (e.g. commodities) or financial (cash settlement). There are several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tragedy Of Clytemnestra And Cassandra s Agamemnon Jordan Arnold Professor Wilder Blue Humanities 9/19/17 Prompt 3 In the tragedy of Agamemnon, both Clytemnestra and Cassandra have their opinions of Agamemnon. He has shown the type of King he truly is. Clytemnestra, his wife, has took action in her own hands when it came to dealing with Agamemnon. This resulted in his brutal death where he least expected it. Cassandra, priestess of Apollo, was cursed with gift of prophecy but no one will believe her. With that being said she knew things were going to end bad with Agamemnon before everyone else. This is why Cassandra remains a noble prophet when Agamemnon tries to lead her into temptation. With them being the voice of the play they commonly explain their emotions towards Agamemnon out of anger. They both know that the things that he is doing is morally wrong and not the work of a honest king. Clytemnestra had to deal with things that a wife should not have to deal with. Was it him sacrificing his own daughter for the gods, or even him having a mistress while he was gone at war.Agamemnon s main goal was to show that he had dominance over her along with his kingdom. She envied the fact that he was able to make these decisions without any sense of sympathy for anyone. The death of Agamemnon was revenge for the death of her daughter. In many of these cases thorough exegesis is necessary to understand the true content and application for daily life. One of the heaviest of these words that has caused a large amount of debate throughout history, and one that is imbedded in the book of Galatians, is justification. Nonetheless, the means that individuals receive this form of justice is through faith, and faith alone according to Paul. Faith is the factor of response to the gospel message. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ambiguity of the letter s destination stems from whether Paul was writing to believers in North or South Galatia. The region of Galatia resides in Asia Minor, commonly known as Turkey today. If this letter was aimed for the Northern district, this epistle was undoubtedly written between Paul s second and third missionary journeys following the Council of Jerusalem found in Acts 15. Similar speech is given in Galatians 2:1 10 making this opinion plausible. (Porter 2016:187). On the contrary, if the destination was South Galatia, then the letter could have been written much earlier; as early as Paul s first missionary journey in fact. This would then place the letter prior to the Council of Jerusalem. If the epistle was written at this time, Galatians 2:1 10 could be referencing Paul s visit to Jerusalem found in Acts 11:27 20 and 12:25 or even a separate meeting not mentioned in Acts (2016:188). The dates of composition will be discussed once the context of the audience is considered. Before the late nineteenth century, many scholars accepted the North Galatia view when minimal archaeological exploration had been done limiting critics to create their assumptions upon literary analysis. • 24. Dormant Commerce Clause Essay Can you briefly explain what the dormant commerce clause is? The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine established by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing legislation that inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce clause limits the power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause in the U.S. Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007). Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business? The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the state places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not acted on behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). The population is not happy, and although it is not said what the outcome of the society is, it is easy to predict that it will fall, as all societies do. The USA s society in Harrison Bergeron is an example of a poor society failing. However, failure isn t limited to dystopic regimes. For example, one of the most influential societies to live on Earth ( Ancient Rome) became successful after making the individual a priority. Before Rome became the most successful republic in history, it was an oligarchical monarchy known as Etrusca. However, Etrusca fell due lack of representation in government, or by extension, a pro society government causing dissent and malcontent in the population, leading to revolution and eventually developing into what is now known as Rome. This discontent in the Etruscan society can be found throughout every society in the history of the human race. The Republic of Rome became successful due to the importance placed on the individual, making Rome unique to other societies. However, after the wars versus neighboring Carthage, Rome s government became weak enough to allow Julius Caesar to rise to power, leading to the Roman Empire. Although Rome had made the individual a priority orginally, it still wasn t enough. It is therefore logistically impossible to create a utopian everlasting society. If you consider all these aspects together, you may assume that Egyptis in risk of soon becoming another problem state for U.S. security interests. However, if you take a closer look at the changes made in just the last two years, you can see that the opposite is true. Many examples prove that social fact only exists where social organization is present, such as the legal system, as well as the education system. Durkheim states that social organization is not needed in social fact, and that social fact is all those issues that society pushes to be acted orderly. The legal system is a prime example of social fact. The legal system is a strict set of laws and regulations that must be followed by each individual. The topic of education has been controversial since the beginning. It seems as though there is always someone that sees a need for change in how students are being taught and assessed. More specifically, many people think that standardized testing is not an effective way to assess students. While on the other hand, many also believe that standardized testing is the most efficient and effective way to assess people of all ages. The debate over standardized testing has been shown to effect students and the community in many different ways. Standardized assessments have had huge impacts with both teachers and students. Ability to customize products: With the desired raw material, a 3D printer, and the required blueprint, one can manufacture any object one wants, with the specifications and design of one s choice. Rapid production of prototypes: 3D printing enables quick production of prototypes or small scale versions of the real object. The printing of some products can be done within minutes. This helps researchers and engineers plan the actual object and catch any design flaws that may affect quality and functionality. Low cost of production: Although the initial cost of setting up a 3D printing facility may be high, the cost of the 3D printer is remunerated through the overall savings in the form of labour costs and time saved. Equal effort for small scale and mass manufacturing ensures that the cost of production is relatively low. No storage cost: Since 3D printers can print products as and when needed, there is no expense on storage of goods is required. Look deeper, and further imagine having a house full of your own children scrambling to exit in time before the house burns and crumbles to ashes. This is what Anne Bradstreet woke up too as she explained in Upon the Burning of the House on July 10th, 1666, as she stood and watched her house glow in a blaze of flames. Anne has many concerns as her house has burned down, but she looks on the brighter side, the Puritan side, and she knows that God has made her a house in heaven and that everything happens for a reason and God has better things waiting for her than Anne had before the fire. The topic of this paper is college basketball and cheating. What makes college basketball coachesbreak the rules, is it worth the penalty you might ultimately face? Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was actually caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy did cheat. • 45. Naturalism As A Genre Of Naturalism Naturalism as a genre depicts commonplace happenings dictated by powers larger than humans, such as nature or society. As Phillip Barrish puts it, Literary works ... traditionally identified with naturalism depict characters whose lives are controlled or determined by immense, impersonal forces that the characters themselves can barely understand, let alone effectively resist (116). Obviously, not all naturalist literature is created equal; different authors choose to focus on different aspects of the genre. Specifically, this study will be exploring the differences between divergent interpretations of naturalism: the first, a story controlled by the forces of nature, and, the second, a story manipulated by the power of societal structures. First, let s take a closer look at these two branches of naturalism. The naturalism based in nature involves both the nature of the human body, including things such as hunger and death, and the influences of the natural world itself, such as hurricanes and snowstorms. This varies significantly from the form of naturalism that roots itself in the authorities of society such as the economy and social class limitations. While these two subdivisions of naturalism are perceivably unique from one another, Barrish explains that naturalist writers frequently blur together the natural and social orders (116). That is to say, there is a fine line between the two that is repeatedly smudged by authors. Jack London s To Build a Fire and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Health Care Crisis Of The United States Essay Health care spending in the United States of America as a percentage of the economy has reached astonishing heights, equating to 17.7 percent. This number is shocking when compared to other counties; in Australia health care is 8.9 percent, in United Kingdom 9.4 percent, in Canada 11.2 percent. If the American health care system were to hypothetically become its own economy, it would be the fifth largest in the world. While these statistics sound troubling, they lead us to look for answers about the problems surrounding our system. The first health insurance company was created in the 1930s to give all American families an equal opportunity for hospital care and eventually led to a nationwide economic and social controversy that erupted in the 1990s and continued to be shaped by the government, insurance companies, doctors, and American citizens. In this paper, I will go in to detail about the various opinions regarding the controversy, the history behind health insurance companies, and the main dilemmas brought out by the health care crisis. Both series and parallel hybrid electric vehicles primarily contain the same parts, however, they are configured differently. Both types of hybrid electric vehiclecontain a gasoline based engine, a battery which is rechargeable, an inverter, transmission and an electric motor. The main difference between the two, disregarding the difference in sizes of the separate parts, is that series hybrid electric vehicles have a generator whereas in a parallel hybrid electric vehicle the motor acts as a generator. Moreover, in a parallel HEV, the engine is directly connected to the wheels, however this is not the case in a series HEV. In a parallel HEV, the motor and the combustion engine work in accordance to power the vehicle. The gasoline based engine and motor are both connected to the transmission. As fuel travels to the engine or the battery is turned on, it propels the car. In a series HEV, the motor is charged by the battery or generator (powered by gasoline based engine). Thus, the gasoline engine does not directly propel the car, unlike in the parallel HEV. The transmission is responsible for determining how much energy is required and whether to retrieve it from the battery or the generator. Due to the subject matter that the play deals with, it is hard to present in the way that it deserves. The Chorus helps the audience follow the play by helping them to picture things as they were through the use of imagery. It uses descriptive language in describing events that take place in the play. Large manufacturing businesses such as Ford and General Motors were experiencing rapid expansion and were looking to management methods to increase output and focus the efficiency of their workers. Many of Taylor s principles were adopted in factory production and throughout the 20th century the application of scientific principles had a marked affect on productivity. Ironically, as a result of increased production, the general standard of living improved and so did worker dissatisfaction with the method. Union management and a popular interest in the human factor (by behavioural scientists) resulted in a productivity slowdown. This prompted organisations to relocate their work force to developing countries with cheaper labour, a mirror of the original conditions that allowed scientific management to thrive in the west (Oman, 2000). Organisations were now looking to new management methods to satisfy the increasing needs of their workforce and regain productivity and many found it in the form of the Human Relations Approach (Wilson 1990). The Human Relations Approach represents a significant departure from the automated and dehumanized approach of Scientific Management.
