The Effect Of Iron Sulphate Concentration On The Growth Of...
A study on the effect of iron sulphate concentration on the growth of Triticum aestivum, as measured
by shoot length
Background:
For the plants development to carry out general processes, an example being photosynthesis, required
for life. There are different roles which can be changed, altered, removed or added that can affect the
plant, an example being an increase temperature, CO2. Iron is a micronutrient like iron, used by plants
for plant growth, it s role a key factor in enzyme present and able to carry out the the processes and
needed for the formation of chlorophyll. A reason as to why iron plays a key part in the plants
development, is due to the fact that the fundamental components of protein found in the enzyme that
controls a large sum of chemical reactions which happens in a plant. A study carried out showed that
iron aided in seed production needed for activity in enzymes, however in the correct dosages.
A excess of iron can inhibit plant growth, also hindering photosynthetic electron transport. An excess
can also cause iron poisoning which causes the plants to change in colour from green to yellow and
the growth of the plant to be stunted. Increased levels of iron can similarly cause a huge drop in plant s
seed germination and iron intake
The plant experimented on, was wheat which is one of the world s most used products in creating
carbohydrate foods i.e. cereal. The discerning factor of wheat is that it carries more use in comparison

Workplace Violence Analysis
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) characterizes workplace violence
as a demonstration of animosity coordinated toward persons at work or on duty, extending from
hostile or debilitating language to homicide. Workplace violence is a major occupational hazard for
healthcare providers local and global and needs more media and public attention. A report done by the
U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, an estimated 1.7 million workers are injured each year due to
assaults at work. Although homicides rates remain low in the healthcare setting, assaults remain the
highest than any other institution (Gacki Smith, et al., 2009). According to Bureau of Labor Statistics

These are all symptoms of Post traumatic symptom disorder (PTSD). An average of 33% of
Emergency nurses have screened positive for symptoms of PTSD (Hood, 2011). A study done by
Gates, Gillespie, Succop, 2011 found out that 94% of emergency room nurses in their cross sectional
study showed signs of PTSD. Being the victim of physical violence can affect the ability of nurses to
perform ideally. Gates, Gillespie, and Succop (2011) talked about that the posttraumatic stress side
effects created by physical brutality diminishes the capacity of ER nurses to intellectually concentrate
on their work in contrast with their capacity prior to a violent event. Gillespie et al. (2010)
subjectively investigated the impact of working environment violence s on nurses in a pediatric ED

The Work of Frida Kahlo Essay
The work of Frida Kahlo often labeled and defined as feminist art continues to describe and establish
what feminist art is. Wife of the well known and highly regarded Diego Rivera, Frida struggled to
become an artist in her own right. Her extremely passionate love for and devotion to her husband
manifested itself in an unusual manner in their already unconventional and unique marriage. However
it is partly this obsession with Diego that helped motivate her own success as a feminist artist. Her
passionate political and revolutionary spirit resonates in the subjects of her paintings as she herself
states, I want my work to be a contribution to the struggle of the people for peace and liberty. (Herrera
p.263). She confronts her pain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She presents herself as proud, dignified, confident and as always, extremely desirable and irresistible.
Reserved, poised and confident, Frida demands immediate attention and respect from her audience as
she stands with purpose on a hardwood stage, curtains drawn held back by thick yet elegant rope. Her
peach colored skirt with elegant embroidered flowers and the saturated, deep red blouse peaking from
under an astonishing golden yellow shawl which drapes over the entire costume all indicate a
distinguished, colonial member of the bourgeois high society. The rich red and golden hues of her
clothing are complemented and emphasized by the palate of color Frida has chosen for her
background which resonates from a deep green to a golden sun like tone. She has replaced her usual
and typical exuberant and bright native dress with a more refined version of the characteristic long
skirt and jewelry to decorate herself. The aristocratic Frida reinforces her intended highly
distinguished image with the intricately woven red ribbon in her impetuously braided hair which is
further complemented by the purple flower carefully tucked into her braid. The hair with the ribbon
and flower is indicative of indigenous heritage and culture, neither which ever to be excluded or
denied by Kahlo. The brazen carnality of the many self portraits that wold soon follow in a burst of
creativity

Cameron Narrative
Cameron. October third of two thousand fifteen, the day was gloomy and depressed. Everything had
been given an unusual sensation, and a strange vibe. It had been the day of my non existent senior
homecoming that I was not able to attend. The night sky was dark and lurked over me, stalkerish like,
and not a thing felt in place. The night haunted me, feeling so vulnerable being alone, wonders and
worries filling my head like an overflowing glass as to why my best friend Megan was not getting
back to me. My worries had obtained the best of me, so I took it to myself to head over to my second
home, my best friend Megan s apartment, whom she shared with her fiance Michael, their child Adien,

only known that for five minutes. He had so much ambition and love, and such a huge personality. He
was family and so much more, nothing will ever be the same. He was truly the easiest person to love.
We were all so oblivious and blind, how could the happiest person you know is the saddest and so

Is America A Dystopia Essay
America a utopia or dystopia? The book b rave new world is about a futuristic Utopian society. Its is a
very corrupt place where people are artificially made and have predestined futures. They have they
take drugs to feel emotion and have a severe lack of individuality. America is similar to brave new
world in many of the same ways. Here are a few reasons brave new world is a dystopia, a utopia, and
how it relates to America.
Brave new world could be considered a utopia. In brave new world there is no wars. There is no
reason to have wars because everyone is content with everything because they are all on soma. Soma
is a drug that everyone takes to make them happy. It s a drug though so the emotion is not real. They

The book there is a lack of individuality. Everyone is assigned a position that they fill with out
questions. Anyone who doesn t do what they told to do or if you are a free thinker they exil you. That
s one way the leaders in brave new world have utter control. Another way is through soma. The people
may not be happy with what they re doing but because of soma they don t know. This is why you can
argue that brave new world is a dystopia.
Brave new world is similar to America in many ways. In brave new world their are alfas who have
power over a lot of people and no one knows who they are. In America are government keeps secrets
from the people. Area 51 is one example of secrets that they are keeping from us. Drugs and sex in
brave new world are not considered bad or taboo. But in
America drugs even if they do not harm you are still illegal, and if you have sex with multiple people

Canterbury Tales The Knight Virtue Analysis
The Knight in Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales lives up to all that is foreseen of someone in his place.
Unlike the nun, friar, and miller, the Knight does everything that his profession calls for, without
breaking away from his professions philosophy. Chaucer immediately shows much respect for the
Knight in the tale s general prologue. Chaucer s opening words about the Knight s virtues saying he is
There was a Knight, a most distinguished man,/ Who from the day on which he first began/ to ride
abroad had followed chivalry, /truth, honour, generousness and courtesy. (Chaucer 4) Chaucer relays
to his readers how great the Knight is because of his winning many battles in countries all around the

was important for a Knight of his class. Having a horse showed that the Knight was from a wealthier
class and that he could afford the horse and training. The Knight having a fine horse also signified that
he was a well trained warrior and was not only good with arms, but also well trained in riding. The
Knight is also not dressed gaily; instead he wore a heavy cotton tunic. His tunic was dirtied by blood
and marks from battle, since he had just returned from a battle. The Knight going directly from a war
to the pilgrimage is an example of just how important these were to devout Christians such as him

Turning Table Figurative Language
In the song Turning Tables by Adele, I found 4 different types of figurative language. The first type of
figurative language I found was a hyperbole. A hyperbole is an over exaggeration of something to
make a point. The line says all that I have is on the floor . Since this is a hyperbole, it means
everything she has is not actually on the floor. Instead it could mean she s come clean and has nothing
to hide. Everything she could be keeping to herself is out in the open. The purpose of saying this could
be to show that she really has nothing to hide, but in a way that makes it sound better in the song. The
second type of figurative language I found was an idiom. An idiom is a phrase with multiple
meanings. The example I found was I can t keep up with your turning ... Show more content on

The second song I used to find figurative language in is When We Were Young which is also by Adele.
The first type of figurative language I found was a simile. The simile is You re like a dream come true.
This is a simile because she is comparing a guy to a dream come true, using the words like or as.
When a dream comes true it is a really great thing so that s what she decided to compare with this guy,
who she thinks is amazing. The next type of figurative language I found was repetition. Repetition is
when something is repeated over and over again to show that it is important or to draw attention to it.
When we were young is repeated at least 10 times in the whole song. The artist did that to make a
point. This person she is looking at brings her back to all the memories they had together when they
were young. She felt that this was important and wanted it to stand out so she repeated it over and
over. The last type of figurative language I found was anaphora. Anaphora is when the beginning of
sentences start the same. The example I found was, It was just like a movie. It was just like a

1.1 The threat of new entrants
The biggest threat to eHarmony and other paid dating sites was the free dating sites that were the
newest entrants into the market. These sites did not have major restrictions to joining and did not
necessarily do the match making for the members. According to Piskorski, Halaburda Smith, very
many people subscribed to such sites as witnessed by the rise of Plenty of Fish in 2007 to become the
most frequently visited in Canada and the U.K, and fourth in the United States(8).

However, even non paying members could be matched with potential partners only that the former
could not send messages. This caused paying members to complain that sometimes they sent messages
to non paying members and never got any response, meaning it was a loss in investment. This made
the company consider showing paying members which messages had been read and which ones had
not.
2. eHarmony s value proposition
At eHarmony, the customer gets the chance to communicate with a potential partner after having paid
for the communication process. The value provided in eHarmony s business model concerns giving
the paying member guided communication with a potential partner. The company ensures that they
consider the preferences of the applicants before starting on the match making process. According to
Piskorski, Halaburda Smith, the company considers the similarities among applicants in order to start
the match making process (6).
In line with this, the company considers a person s characteristics, interests, and values and looks for a
person whose profile is similar. In fact, the company has gone against the traditional idea that
opposites attract and opted for the similar traits while match making. This assures the customer of the
value of the investment they make when subscribing for the site as it offers more personalized and
workable options than other sites.

After the Jews formed an army and began fighting the British stopped backing the Arabs and the issue
was left up to the UN. The UN created the Partition Plan also know as Resolution 181. In this plan 25
percent of the Palestine Jewish state was offered to the Jews and the rest was going to be an Arab
state. The Jews accepted this offer but the Arabs turned it down because they wanted it all(United).
Since there wasn t a settlement here there would be another war. This time when the Arabs attacked
the other Arab countries, Egypt, Syria, and Jordan joined in on the attack. This battle broke out in
1967 and was know as the Six Day War because it only lasted six days. This war backfired on the
Arab nations at the end of the war the Jewish Palestine state, now called Israel, was victorious and
took over the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and The Sinai Peninsula. The Gaza Strip and West Bank are

Wagner was very young when he began showing interest for music. At a young age he learned to play

Wagner s inspirations were Beethoven, Mozart and Shakespeare.
In 1836, Wagner married the singer and actress Minna Planer. They moved to Konigsberg, where
Wagner became musical director at Magdeburg Theatre. Also in 1836, Das Liebesverbot was produced
there. Wagner wrote both the lyrics and music. He called his concept Gesamtunkstwerk which meant

redemption.
He then moved to Riga, Russia, in 1837. Wagner became the first musical director of the theater and
began to work on his next opera, Rienzi. They got on a ship to London and made their way to Paris.
He got a job at writing vaudeville music for small theaters. Wagner was part of the quasi revolutionary

People s History Of The United States By Howard Zinn Essay
The book People s History of the United States by the author Howard Zinn represents the history to
the readers in a different perspective, making the readers look into the history in a difference lens
making it insightful. What is a history? To answer this question, we must first establish a commonality
in language: namely, what is history? It is a continuous, systematic narrative of past events as relating
to a particular people, country, period, person which is usually written as a chronological account. The
author discusses about how the major events were recorded and mainly the stories which were untold
to the people and were left out of the mainstream history books. In the first few chapters he gives
critical details about how America was founded by Christopher Columbus and gradually moving into
detail about how he killed hundreds of native Indians in the process of capturing the country. The
author then moves into giving the readers about hidden class struggles and the period of time where
racism was affecting a majority of the people. Howard Zinn also mentions about the wars, the Vietnam
war and the Civil war that had changed the lives of many in the past and how it has made a major
impact in the past and today to the people. Some of the details in the book are real life experiences by
the author, because he is not only a writer but had also served in the army in the world war two as a
pilot, which makes the readers understand every detail of some events as it is told

Output hardware is components of or devices linked to a computer, which allow the computer to
transfer information to another computer system or the user of a computer system (Kroenke pg74).
This output hardware sends information in the form of images, sound, or various other tangible
imagery usually, to some form of input hardware on another system. It is not designed to receive data
only to send. The most familiar of these devices is the visual display or computer monitor. These
monitors are usually synonymous with a computer and every system is equipped with or able to
connect to a Visual Display Unit. Projectors, audio systems, printers, and faxes are all examples of
output hardware. Microsoft Corporation in their endeavors to enhance everyone s life with the aid of
computing software has developed output hardware for the blind or visually challenged. Windows also
offers a function such as video narrator, that provides audio descriptions of videos

Frankenstein, By Mary Shelley And Parable Of The Sower By...
And the Destiny of Earthseed is to take root among the stars. (Butler 77) The books Frankenstein by
Mary Shelley and Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler are both science fiction novels warning
of a dangerous potential future. Frankenstein looks at the dangers of creating artificially intelligent
beings, while Parable of the Sower explores human savagery in the collapse of American civilization
as the result of poor political decisions. Each addresses concerns of the time they were published.
While both are pessimistic views of the future and both require the suspension of disbelief, the
concept of dystopia and utopia is definitely apparent in both novels. A dystopia being a world in which
nothing is perfect and a utopia being a perfect world. Frankenstein addresses a timeless issue that
modern science may soon make a reality, while Parable of the Sower creates an alarming depiction of
conservative leadership.
Frankenstein is an early depiction of the creation of artificial intelligence, an idea with great
significance today. While artificially intelligent beings such as golems exist in myth as the product of
magic, scientific progress has the true potential to make such beings. In modern times, the subject is
frequently discussed with regard to computers being programmed to think, in an imitation of the
human brain. In Frankenstein, the medium used is recycled human body parts stitched together to
create a new human like entity. Whether or not this entity,

Elements Of Violence In Gothic Literature
Rough Draft. In the gothic literature, some stories have similar gothic elements in them that can be
used in different ways depending on the author. The elements that are of concern today are the
elements of curses and violence. The works of Edgar Allan Poe, Washington Irving, and Richard
Matheson will provide some examples of similar elements in their stories, The Devil and Tom Walker
by Irving, The Black Cat by Poe, and Prey by Matheson. The first element that will be discussed is the
element of violence. Now for those who have not read the stories that are being used, here are some

Science And The Art Of Science
A couple of years ago my daughter, who will graduate with a degree in biology from UC Santa Cruz
this June, shared a pivotal quote with me. The quote, by nature philosopher Vladimir Nabokov, states,
There is a high ridge where the mountainside of scientific knowledge joins the opposite slope of
artistic imagination; where precision of poetry and the art of science can meet. She said it reminded
her of all the years she watched me with my students, exploring and healing wild places. This was,
and is, one of the most profound compliments I have ever received. There is a multitude of ways to
approach teaching students about our Earth, some technical, some artistic, some spiritual, but to effect
lasting change, one has to touch on all three. Throughout my 23 years as an environmental educator, I
have often said my true goal is to guide students toward a love and desire to protect our planet and
each other the science they learn is a happy side effect. But side effects can have lasting effects, and
make no mistake the science is critical. Hooking students emotionally, though, opens their minds to
the science, to a desire to know the world around them, to a willingness to absorb the science because
it explains what they love. As educators, volunteers, and docents, our challenge is to create that high
ridge for students, to teach natural history in an imaginative, artistic way one that presents science as a
form of poetry from the heart. It is hard to ignore the cries

Comparison Of Macbeth And Lady Macbeth
Contrast Comparison of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
While analyzing the two main characters in Shakespeare s tragic play Macbeth, critics have often
argued about their true nature and inner coherence. Despite the effort made, very rarely are the
characters presented as their true self, without the inclusion of psychoanalytical theories and other
studies. Consequently, this essay s primary goal is to analyze and discuss the main characteristics of
the Macbeth couple and how they relate with each other by using nothing but a careful reading of the
thoughts and actions of each of the characters and no external influence or studies whatsoever.
The first thing that the Macbeth couple share is the malicious influence exerted on them by the Weird
Sisters. On the one hand, Macbeth is directly faced with the witches, who tell him of his new title of

Tourism Is Impacting Upon The Coral Reefs Of Lady Elliot...
Tourism in Australia has evolved over the years and continues to increase to this day, however it is the
effects that tourists have the ability to place on the Southern Great Barrier Reef which are potentially
threatening for, not only the reef of lady Elliot Island, however, the corals surrounding it. International
visitations within Australia alone reached 3.9 million visitors within the first 7 months of 2014, which
was an increase of approximately 9.5%, a number which continues to rise (Tourism Australia, 2015).
However, with this increasing number, comes possible damaging effects to the surrounding reefs of
Lady Elliot Island, possibly leading to the excessive damage of corals due to activities and
infrastructure requirements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although scientists are not able to depict exactly when humans first came into contact with the reef,
evidential estimations state that the Great Barrier Reef was first formed approximately 500,000 years
ago, with the current reef state being formed about 6,000 to 8,000 years old.
Coral reefs exist all over the world and are generally known as being one of the most diverse, intricate
and beautiful of all existing marine habitats. They have many varying structures which are developed
by algae and are symbiotic with various reef building corals which are referred to as, zooxanthellae
(algae). There are many other factors such as, coralline algae, sponges and other various organisms
that are combined with a number of cementation processes which also contribute to reef growth,
(CORAL REEFS, 2015).
As can be seen in appendix 2, Lady Elliot Island is located, approximately 46 nautical miles north east
off the coast of Bundaberg and is accessed from the Hervey Bay airport. The island covers an
estimated area of approximately 45 hectares. Lady Elliot Island itself caters for approximately 150 day
guests, and 100 overnight guests at the one given time and offers various activities such as, reef
walking, scuba diving, night trail walking, glass bottom boat tours and various, fish feeding, bird
watching and guided tour activities. By

Technology A Disconnection
Opinion Piece Technology: A Disconnection Over the past few years, technology has become a
significant part of people s every day lives. It helps people connect with those far away, but in the
process, disconnects themselves from others close with them. Technology has helped improve the
lives of many people through transportation and more, but overall has torn us apart. The constant
usage of technology has people s eyes glued to a small screen; they often forget to communicate with
those around them. Cell phones have developed over the years to become not only a way to talk with
others, but to have forms of entertainment, social media, and other means of communication. Many
people today only rely on their phones or computers, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The urge to be connected has become more of an addiction than a form of convenient communication;
due to the amount of time people spend on technology. This causes a severe disconnection with others
around them. People spend more time looking at the perfect lives of other celebrities, that they forget
to enjoy what is around them. If people spend more time looking up from their screens, they could
make more friendships or companionships with other people. Imagine all the possible conversations
you missed because you were too busy talking to people through a screen, instead of those around
you. People often use their means of technology as a way to distract them or avoid talking to others.
Perhaps this is due to the social disconnect they have with others around them. If people spend less
time on technology, more connections with people would form. You would have more time to do
things you want to do, such as reading, exercise, or more. Instead of connecting with people through
technology, we should make connections with people close to us the top priority. After years of being
developed, technology specifically and computers have been used too much, that they cause a
disconnection instead of a connection. Technology has its benefits, but in many cases, it is often
unnecessary and a waste of time. People should spend less time connecting through technology, and
reconnect with those around

Psychological Testing Paper
Introduction
There comes a time when we all come across a specific test such as school tests, driving test, or even
as simple as food tasting test. However, there is a difference between regular tests and testing s when
referring to psychological testing. There are several different psychological tests that many
psychiatrists, psychologists, and school counselors use to determine certain abilities, however each of
the tests are used for a specific purpose. It is vital for the individuals to contain high knowledge of the
tests before applying it to others.

Second, the achievement tests are created to help determine the placements of students in school based
on their knowledge and skills. Achievement tests are subdivides in to batteries, single subject, and
certification and licensing, government sponsored programs, and individual assessment tests (Hogan,
2007). Third of the major category tests is the personality tests, with this test professionals are able to
determine the reasoning of the human personality. Within this category it is also alienated into other
subdivisions such as objective tests and projective techniques (Hogan, 2007). Next is the interest and
attitudes tests, these tests are put together to help individuals maintain focus on a specific subject of
interests either if it is in school or in a job placement. This category is subdivided by vocational
interests and attitude scales (Hogan, 2007). Lastly, the neuropsychological tests, the main purpose of
this test is to illustrate information of the functioning of the central nervous system, mainly focusing
on the information coming from the human brain (Hogan, 2007).
Uses and Users Just as all psychological tests are categorized, not all tests are applied for the same use
and the same users. Each test is done by a trained or professional to determine what is the situation
based on the results and to see what treatment is best for the individual. There are four major
psychological tests users are clinical, educational,

The Importance Of Experience In The Humanities Reflection
Throughout my time in the humanities sequence, I have constantly been surprised by the astounding
quantity of philosophical questions, topics, issues, and themes that we learned. It seemed that with
each new text we read, there was either a completely new subject matter for us to discuss or a different
perspective for us to contemplate. After reading all of the course texts and being exposed to all of their
ideologies, I now find it very difficult to try and focus on only a select few. All of these texts, from the
Bhagavad Gita to Ethics for the New Millennium, were all highly influential to me in some way and
seem equally as important from a philosophical standpoint, but I must admit that I appreciated some of
the subjects more so than others from a personal point of view. For example, some of my most
memorable experiences from the humanities sequence arose from our class discussions of The Trial
and Death of Socrates, a text we read all the way back in the first half of the Honors 201 semester. In
class, we worked to define what constitutes a sandwich following the logic of Socrates as shown in the
text. While there were some disagreements around this definition, such as whether or not a wrap
would constitute a sandwich (which it absolutely does), the class as a whole learned to question the
world and the items in it as we know them. As Socrates pointed out in the text and as we discovered in
the activity, human beings can readily be ignorant to what is around us,

The Philadelphia Chromosome Report
The book The Philadelphia Chromosome by Jessica Wapner follows the story of how a fatal disease
called Chronic Myeloid Leukemia became one of the first targets of kinase inhibitors for targeted
cancer therapies. Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) affects only a small number of people (an
estimated 8,500 diagnoses this year), but was until recently considered a fatal disease. Gleevec, a drug
created by Novartis (mostly) that targeted the BCR/ABL protein in CML patients. This protein causes
a tyrosine kinase to uncontrollably phosphorylate myeloid cells in bone marrow. The BCR/ABL
protein is caused by a gene mutation known as The Philadelphia Chromosome, which is an
abnormality in chromosome 22. This abnormality is caused by a gene translocation ... Show more

His goal is to find out how this gene leads to CML in patients, and hopefully, find a way to stop it. The
bcr/abl protein constantly tells cells, specially myeloid cells, that it is time to divide, causing
uncontrollable replication, and these cells have a mutation in them, they don t die like normal cells do,
causing the body to overflow with these useless cancer cells. Researches at Ciba Giegy began working
on a way to inhibit the bcr/abl tyrosine kinases from signaling to cells. This work resulted in a
compound known as STI 571, which was a targeted kinase inhibitor. One of the fears this team faced
was, if you inhibit a kinase, do you inhibit them all? Causing the patient to die, or can you manage to
only inhibit a single type of kinase, leaving the rest alone to do their jobs. By 1996, Gleevec (STI 571)
was shown to kill cancer cells, while leaving normal cells healthy. In 1998, Ciba Giegy (now
Novartis) was ready to start phase 1 clinical trials in patients. By 2001, the FDA approved the drug for

The Revitalization Of Asean Role As An Honest Broker
The Revitalization of ASEAN Role as An Honest Broker in the South China Sea Disputes
I. Introduction
ASEAN has played a key role in managing the disputes over the South China Sea (SCS) as part of its
commitment to promote peace and stability in the region. The disputes were related to territorial
claims over Spratly and Paracel islands and maritime boundaries involving four ASEAN members,
namely Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam as well as the People s Republic
of China (and Taiwan). The potential escalation of conflict to open war in the region, due to military
build up by China and external intervention by the United States, puts ASEAN into a central position
to play its role as an honest broker or mediator. The stalemate of discussion over the SCS disputes
since the 2012 ASEAN Summit should be an indication for ASEAN to revitalize its role and to start
taking serious steps in a diplomatic manner to provide peaceful solution for the conflicts.
Maintaining stability and security has always been ASEAN s fundamental interest, as any escalated
conflicts or war may cause a distraction to the integrity and solidarity of its members and influence
political and economic cooperation in the region. The discussions over the SCS disputes have been
established between ASEAN and China since the 1990s. As a result, ASEAN signed the ASEAN
Declaration on the South China Sea in 1992 and the ASEAN China agreement in 1995, which
regulated an obligation to inform

Overview of the Material Properties and RE Application for Cu(In,Ga)Se2
Introduction and Historical Notes
I have chosen to review the material properties and applications for the compound semiconductor
copper indium gallium selenide as it is used in photovoltaic cells. A chalcopyrite based material, the
chemical formula is often written as CuIn1 xGaxSe2 (CIGS) to represent the alloy system where the
stoichiometric ratio of the compound can vary from pure CuInSe2 (CIS) to CuGaSe2 (CGS). For the
purposes of this document, however, the entire range of combinations will simply be referred to as
CIGS. I selected this material for a few reasons. I am fascinated with ... Show more content on

This document, however, will provide a much more general and top level view of the material
properties.
The first chalcopyrite solar cells were reported by Wagner et al. in 1974 when a 12% efficient cell was
created based on single crystal CuInSe2 absorber. [1] Later, Kazmerski et al. demonstrated that a thin
film solar cell could be created by an evaporation process. [2] Commercial CIGS modules were not
produced, however, for another 20 years. Since that time the material has been continuously studied
and improved. Ga was added to stabilize the p type conductivity and increase the band gap. It was also
discovered that the addition of Na, either through the use of soda lime glass substrate or added during
the growth process, helps to boost the conductivity of the material and control the film growth and
free carrier concentration. [2] As of 2014, the record for CIGS efficiency demonstrated in a laboratory
setting was held by researchers at Stuttgart s Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research (ZSW),
for their achievement of a 21.7% efficient cell. [3] As of May 2015, the Taiwanese company TSMC
Solar has reported the highest efficiency module that is commercially available with a rating of 16.5%.

and how to fight a price war, when to flee one and even when to start one. The first step, then, is
diagnosis. Consider a small commodities supplier that suddenly found that its largest competitor had
slashed prices to a level well below the small company s costs. One option the smaller company
considered was to lower its price in a tit for tat move. But that price would have heen below the
suppher s marginal cost; it would have suffered debilitating losses. Fortunately, a few phone calls
revealed that its adversary was attempting to drive the supplier out of the local market by underpricing
its products locally but maintaining high prices elsewhere. The supplier correctly diagnosed the
pricing move as predatory and elected to do two things. First, the manager called customers in the
competitor s home market to let them know that the price cutter was offering special deals in another
market. Second, he called local customers

Coping with Unexplained Fertility
If you and your partner have trouble conceiving for six months to a year, you might think you have a
fertility problem. Your next step is to go to a clinic and get tested for infertility symptoms. If these
tests result in no answers, you are diagnosed with unexplained infertility.
According to the Center for Human Reproduction, around 30% of women diagnosed with infertility
are thought to have unexplained infertility. The CHS believe this is a misleading faux diagnosis that

Analysis Of Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
Matt Hodel
Dante
Ms. Harlow
7 May 2012
Perversions of Hell in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince J. K. Rowling, along with many other
modern fantasy authors, owes a great deal to Dante in the formulation of her best selling series.
Though the subject matter she undertakes a magical world of witchcraft and wizardry would have, in
Dante s eyes, landed her in the eighth circle of the Inferno, fourth pouch, Rowling would arguably
have been unable to create the magical universe of Harry Potter without immense inspiration from The
Divine Comedy. In an overly simplistic picture, Voldemort might be thought of as a representation of
Satan, arrogantly believing that he has the power to conquer the whole wizarding community, let alone
the entire world, with his magical faculties. Indeed, similar to Satan, Voldemort exemplifies the
damning qualities of greed, wrath, violence, deceit, and betrayal every step of the way on his path to
power.
Nevertheless, Rowling s most visible debts to Dante appear in the aura given off by the darker scenes
of her novels. Such chapters evoke a feeling unquestionably reminiscent of The Inferno to anyone
familiar with Dante s work. Specifically, near the end of the sixth installment of the series is a chapter
in which Dumbledore, a Virgil figure, takes Harry, the Dante to Dumbledore s Virgil, on an attempt to
destroy the first of seven horcruxes. The chapter alludes to Canto III of The Inferno through a series of
direct contrasts with

In order to offset the expense of the French and Indian war England instituted new and unpopular
taxation policies. The Revenue Act of 1764 also called The Sugar Act lowered the tax on molasses,
but increased the penalty for smuggling and allowed for prosecution without a jury trial. This was
followed by the Stamp Act in 1765 requiring that stamps be purchased and applied to most paper
documents. This highly unpopular act brought the colonists together in the Stamp Act Congress,
where they petitioned King George III to repeal the Act. Although Parliament repealed the Stamp Act

Five Platonic Solids
The Five Platonic Solids The five platonic solids are the tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron,
and the icosahedron. They are named for the Greek philosopher Plato. Plato wrote about them in The
Timaeus (c.360 B.C.) in which he paired each of the four classical elements, earth, air, water, and fire
with a regular solid. Earth was paired with the cube, air with the octahedron, water with the
icosahedron, and fire with the tetrahedron. The fifth Platonic solid, the dodecahedron, Plato says that,

Some people credit Pythagoras with their discovery. Others say he may have been only familiar with
them and that the octahedron and icosahedron belong to Theaetetus. Theaetetus was the first to give a
mathematical description of all five and could have been responsible for the first piece of proof that no
other regular polyhedra are out there. A net is the shape that is made by unfolding a 3D figure. A net is
made up of all the faces of a figure. For a solid to be considered a platonic it needs each face to be a
regular polygon and each vertex must come together because if only two came together the figure
would collapse on itself. The sum of each interior angle of the faces meeting at a vertex must be less
than 360 degrees. A polyhedra solid must have all flat faces, whilst a non polyhedra solid has a least
one of its surfaces that is not flat. Regular means all angles are of equal measure, all faces are
congruent or equal in every way, and all edges are of equal length. 3D means that shape has width,
depth and height. A polygon is a closed shape in a plane figure with at least five straight edges. A dual

The saber tooth Tiger went extinct about 12,000 years ago with other megafauna in the Quaternary

Social Factors That Changed The World

seen being involved in popular fashion trends and expressing themselves in ways they please because
of the affordability. The sharply angled Vidal Sassoon hair style where women cut their hair shorter

Designers preferred models looked younger, thinner, and had longer legs. Social factors occurring at
the time also effected fashion and helped represent people s beliefs. André Courrège s came out with
many new fashions that reflected America s involvement in the Space Race with Russia during that
time and our achievement for having sent a person to the moon. This space age caused Courrège to
come out with designs that resemble space suits which included: silver sequined pants, white plastic
like boots, and white sunglasses with slits. Courrège also came out with a regular suit that had a
geometrically cut jacket and angled collar which became a big hit. In the 1970 s, many fashions were
inspired by the hippie look and many clothes were becoming handmade again. Hair was often worn
long and straight or rolled into corkscrew curls and loose waves. Hot pants, tie dyed shirts, bell
bottoms, and flared pants worn with platform shoes became a hit. Jeans also became a standard

Law Enforcement Police Enforcement Officers
Abstract
Law enforcement officers are faced with the challenges of using the appropriate amount of force
during arrests or apprehensions and are criticized by the public on a daily basis. Not all excessive
force is restricted to physical violence; this is where brutality fits in. The reasons for these actions
might be explainable, or unacceptable. It may appear that the law enforcement officer is taking
advantage of the situation, when in fact they may be following procedure, and in turn can articulate
the reasons for taking the excessive actions. Additionally, the lack of proper training or experience in a
specific situation may result in the decision to react improperly or against standard operating
procedures. Furthermore, the amount of stress that a law enforcement officer is under during the split
second decision to use force may contribute to the actions taken. There may be several contributing
factors that lead to an officer using excessive force. Regardless of the reason, the public figure of a
law enforcement officer should never use their badge or power to instill fear or intimidation, or
conduct themselves unprofessionally.
The Use of Deadly Force and Police Brutality
Even though some law enforcement officers may use their power to intimidate and conduct
themselves in any manner as they please, there are many officers that serve and protect; taking the
oath that they swore to very seriously. Almost every day, law enforcement officers are required to

  • 2. The Effect Of Iron Sulphate Concentration On The Growth Of... A study on the effect of iron sulphate concentration on the growth of Triticum aestivum, as measured by shoot length Background: For the plants development to carry out general processes, an example being photosynthesis, required for life. There are different roles which can be changed, altered, removed or added that can affect the plant, an example being an increase temperature, CO2. Iron is a micronutrient like iron, used by plants for plant growth, it s role a key factor in enzyme present and able to carry out the the processes and needed for the formation of chlorophyll. A reason as to why iron plays a key part in the plants development, is due to the fact that the fundamental components of protein found in the enzyme that controls a large sum of chemical reactions which happens in a plant. A study carried out showed that iron aided in seed production needed for activity in enzymes, however in the correct dosages. A excess of iron can inhibit plant growth, also hindering photosynthetic electron transport. An excess can also cause iron poisoning which causes the plants to change in colour from green to yellow and the growth of the plant to be stunted. Increased levels of iron can similarly cause a huge drop in plant s seed germination and iron intake The plant experimented on, was wheat which is one of the world s most used products in creating carbohydrate foods i.e. cereal. The discerning factor of wheat is that it carries more use in comparison to rice or maize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Workplace Violence Analysis The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) characterizes workplace violence as a demonstration of animosity coordinated toward persons at work or on duty, extending from hostile or debilitating language to homicide. Workplace violence is a major occupational hazard for healthcare providers local and global and needs more media and public attention. A report done by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, an estimated 1.7 million workers are injured each year due to assaults at work. Being the victim of physical violence can affect the ability of nurses to perform ideally. Gates, Gillespie, and Succop (2011) talked about that the posttraumatic stress side effects created by physical brutality diminishes the capacity of ER nurses to intellectually concentrate on their work in contrast with their capacity prior to a violent event. • 4. The Work of Frida Kahlo Essay The work of Frida Kahlo often labeled and defined as feminist art continues to describe and establish what feminist art is. Wife of the well known and highly regarded Diego Rivera, Frida struggled to become an artist in her own right. Her extremely passionate love for and devotion to her husband manifested itself in an unusual manner in their already unconventional and unique marriage. However it is partly this obsession with Diego that helped motivate her own success as a feminist artist. Her passionate political and revolutionary spirit resonates in the subjects of her paintings as she herself states, I want my work to be a contribution to the struggle of the people for peace and liberty. (Herrera p.263). She confronts her pain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She presents herself as proud, dignified, confident and as always, extremely desirable and irresistible. Reserved, poised and confident, Frida demands immediate attention and respect from her audience as she stands with purpose on a hardwood stage, curtains drawn held back by thick yet elegant rope. Her peach colored skirt with elegant embroidered flowers and the saturated, deep red blouse peaking from under an astonishing golden yellow shawl which drapes over the entire costume all indicate a distinguished, colonial member of the bourgeois high society. The rich red and golden hues of her clothing are complemented and emphasized by the palate of color Frida has chosen for her background which resonates from a deep green to a golden sun like tone. She has replaced her usual and typical exuberant and bright native dress with a more refined version of the characteristic long skirt and jewelry to decorate herself. The aristocratic Frida reinforces her intended highly distinguished image with the intricately woven red ribbon in her impetuously braided hair which is further complemented by the purple flower carefully tucked into her braid. The hair with the ribbon and flower is indicative of indigenous heritage and culture, neither which ever to be excluded or denied by Kahlo. The brazen carnality of the many self portraits that wold soon follow in a burst of creativity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It had been the day of my non existent senior homecoming that I was not able to attend. The night sky was dark and lurked over me, stalkerish like, and not a thing felt in place. The night haunted me, feeling so vulnerable being alone, wonders and worries filling my head like an overflowing glass as to why my best friend Megan was not getting back to me. America is similar to brave new world in many of the same ways. Here are a few reasons brave new world is a dystopia, a utopia, and how it relates to America. Unlike the nun, friar, and miller, the Knight does everything that his profession calls for, without breaking away from his professions philosophy. Chaucer immediately shows much respect for the Knight in the tale s general prologue. Chaucer s opening words about the Knight s virtues saying he is There was a Knight, a most distinguished man,/ Who from the day on which he first began/ to ride abroad had followed chivalry, /truth, honour, generousness and courtesy. • 8. Turning Table Figurative Language In the song Turning Tables by Adele, I found 4 different types of figurative language. The first type of figurative language I found was a hyperbole. A hyperbole is an over exaggeration of something to make a point. The line says all that I have is on the floor . Since this is a hyperbole, it means everything she has is not actually on the floor. Instead it could mean she s come clean and has nothing to hide. Everything she could be keeping to herself is out in the open. The purpose of saying this could be to show that she really has nothing to hide, but in a way that makes it sound better in the song. The second type of figurative language I found was an idiom. The second song I used to find figurative language in is When We Were Young which is also by Adele. The first type of figurative language I found was a simile. The simile is You re like a dream come true. This is a simile because she is comparing a guy to a dream come true, using the words like or as. When a dream comes true it is a really great thing so that s what she decided to compare with this guy, who she thinks is amazing. The next type of figurative language I found was repetition. Repetition is when something is repeated over and over again to show that it is important or to draw attention to it. When we were young is repeated at least 10 times in the whole song. The artist did that to make a point. This person she is looking at brings her back to all the memories they had together when they were young. She felt that this was important and wanted it to stand out so she repeated it over and over. The last type of figurative language I found was anaphora. Anaphora is when the beginning of sentences start the same. The example I found was, It was just like a movie. It was just like a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These sites did not have major restrictions to joining and did not necessarily do the match making for the members. According to Piskorski, Halaburda Smith, very many people subscribed to such sites as witnessed by the rise of Plenty of Fish in 2007 to become the most frequently visited in Canada and the U.K, and fourth in the United States(8). 1.2 Bargaining power of suppliers A study by eHarmony showed that couples who met through eHarmony had happier and more successful relationships than those ... This caused paying members to complain that sometimes they sent messages to non paying members and never got any response, meaning it was a loss in investment. The value provided in eHarmony s business model concerns giving the paying member guided communication with a potential partner. The company ensures that they consider the preferences of the applicants before starting on the match making process. According to Piskorski, Halaburda Smith, the company considers the similarities among applicants in order to start the match making process (6). In line with this, the company considers a person s characteristics, interests, and values and looks for a person whose profile is similar. In fact, the company has gone against the traditional idea that opposites attract and opted for the similar traits while match making. People s History Of The United States By Howard Zinn Essay The book People s History of the United States by the author Howard Zinn represents the history to the readers in a different perspective, making the readers look into the history in a difference lens making it insightful. What is a history? To answer this question, we must first establish a commonality in language: namely, what is history? It is a continuous, systematic narrative of past events as relating to a particular people, country, period, person which is usually written as a chronological account. The author discusses about how the major events were recorded and mainly the stories which were untold to the people and were left out of the mainstream history books. In the first few chapters he gives critical details about how America was founded by Christopher Columbus and gradually moving into detail about how he killed hundreds of native Indians in the process of capturing the country. The author then moves into giving the readers about hidden class struggles and the period of time where racism was affecting a majority of the people. Howard Zinn also mentions about the wars, the Vietnam war and the Civil war that had changed the lives of many in the past and how it has made a major impact in the past and today to the people. Some of the details in the book are real life experiences by the author, because he is not only a writer but had also served in the army in the world war two as a pilot, which makes the readers understand every detail of some events as it is told ... (Butler 77) The books Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler are both science fiction novels warning of a dangerous potential future. Frankenstein looks at the dangers of creating artificially intelligent beings, while Parable of the Sower explores human savagery in the collapse of American civilization as the result of poor political decisions. Each addresses concerns of the time they were published. While both are pessimistic views of the future and both require the suspension of disbelief, the concept of dystopia and utopia is definitely apparent in both novels. A dystopia being a world in which nothing is perfect and a utopia being a perfect world. Frankenstein addresses a timeless issue that modern science may soon make a reality, while Parable of the Sower creates an alarming depiction of conservative leadership. Frankenstein is an early depiction of the creation of artificial intelligence, an idea with great significance today. While artificially intelligent beings such as golems exist in myth as the product of magic, scientific progress has the true potential to make such beings. In modern times, the subject is frequently discussed with regard to computers being programmed to think, in an imitation of the human brain. In Frankenstein, the medium used is recycled human body parts stitched together to create a new human like entity. Whether or not this entity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Science And The Art Of Science A couple of years ago my daughter, who will graduate with a degree in biology from UC Santa Cruz this June, shared a pivotal quote with me. The quote, by nature philosopher Vladimir Nabokov, states, There is a high ridge where the mountainside of scientific knowledge joins the opposite slope of artistic imagination; where precision of poetry and the art of science can meet. She said it reminded her of all the years she watched me with my students, exploring and healing wild places. This was, and is, one of the most profound compliments I have ever received. There is a multitude of ways to approach teaching students about our Earth, some technical, some artistic, some spiritual, but to effect lasting change, one has to touch on all three. Throughout my 23 years as an environmental educator, I have often said my true goal is to guide students toward a love and desire to protect our planet and each other the science they learn is a happy side effect. But side effects can have lasting effects, and make no mistake the science is critical. Hooking students emotionally, though, opens their minds to the science, to a desire to know the world around them, to a willingness to absorb the science because it explains what they love. As educators, volunteers, and docents, our challenge is to create that high ridge for students, to teach natural history in an imaginative, artistic way one that presents science as a form of poetry from the heart. It is hard to ignore the cries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Comparison Of Macbeth And Lady Macbeth Contrast Comparison of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth While analyzing the two main characters in Shakespeare s tragic play Macbeth, critics have often argued about their true nature and inner coherence. Despite the effort made, very rarely are the characters presented as their true self, without the inclusion of psychoanalytical theories and other studies. Consequently, this essay s primary goal is to analyze and discuss the main characteristics of the Macbeth couple and how they relate with each other by using nothing but a careful reading of the thoughts and actions of each of the characters and no external influence or studies whatsoever. The first thing that the Macbeth couple share is the malicious influence exerted on them by the Weird Sisters. On the one hand, Macbeth is directly faced with the witches, who tell him of his new title of Thane of Cawdor (a fact that the audience already knows from what King Duncan said to the nobles after hearing the bleeding captain s report) and more importantly, of his future kingship, with Banquo being Lesser than Macbeth, and greater. /[Getting] kings, though thou be none (Macbeth I. iii. 66 68). The Importance Of Experience In The Humanities Reflection Throughout my time in the humanities sequence, I have constantly been surprised by the astounding quantity of philosophical questions, topics, issues, and themes that we learned. It seemed that with each new text we read, there was either a completely new subject matter for us to discuss or a different perspective for us to contemplate. After reading all of the course texts and being exposed to all of their ideologies, I now find it very difficult to try and focus on only a select few. All of these texts, from the Bhagavad Gita to Ethics for the New Millennium, were all highly influential to me in some way and seem equally as important from a philosophical standpoint, but I must admit that I appreciated some of the subjects more so than others from a personal point of view. For example, some of my most memorable experiences from the humanities sequence arose from our class discussions of The Trial and Death of Socrates, a text we read all the way back in the first half of the Honors 201 semester. In class, we worked to define what constitutes a sandwich following the logic of Socrates as shown in the text. While there were some disagreements around this definition, such as whether or not a wrap would constitute a sandwich (which it absolutely does), the class as a whole learned to question the world and the items in it as we know them. As Socrates pointed out in the text and as we discovered in the activity, human beings can readily be ignorant to what is around us, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction ASEAN has played a key role in managing the disputes over the South China Sea (SCS) as part of its commitment to promote peace and stability in the region. The disputes were related to territorial claims over Spratly and Paracel islands and maritime boundaries involving four ASEAN members, namely Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam as well as the People s Republic of China (and Taiwan). The potential escalation of conflict to open war in the region, due to military build up by China and external intervention by the United States, puts ASEAN into a central position to play its role as an honest broker or mediator. The stalemate of discussion over the SCS disputes since the 2012 ASEAN Summit should be an indication for ASEAN to revitalize its role and to start taking serious steps in a diplomatic manner to provide peaceful solution for the conflicts. Maintaining stability and security has always been ASEAN s fundamental interest, as any escalated conflicts or war may cause a distraction to the integrity and solidarity of its members and influence political and economic cooperation in the region. Since that time the material has been continuously studied and improved. Ga was added to stabilize the p type conductivity and increase the band gap. It was also discovered that the addition of Na, either through the use of soda lime glass substrate or added during the growth process, helps to boost the conductivity of the material and control the film growth and free carrier concentration. Though the subject matter she undertakes a magical world of witchcraft and wizardry would have, in Dante s eyes, landed her in the eighth circle of the Inferno, fourth pouch, Rowling would arguably have been unable to create the magical universe of Harry Potter without immense inspiration from The Divine Comedy. In an overly simplistic picture, Voldemort might be thought of as a representation of Satan, arrogantly believing that he has the power to conquer the whole wizarding community, let alone the entire world, with his magical faculties. Indeed, similar to Satan, Voldemort exemplifies the damning qualities of greed, wrath, violence, deceit, and betrayal every step of the way on his path to power. Nevertheless, Rowling s most visible debts to Dante appear in the aura given off by the darker scenes of her novels. Such chapters evoke a feeling unquestionably reminiscent of The Inferno to anyone familiar with Dante s work. Specifically, near the end of the sixth installment of the series is a chapter in which Dumbledore, a Virgil figure, takes Harry, the Dante to Dumbledore s Virgil, on an attempt to destroy the first of seven horcruxes. The chapter alludes to Canto III of The Inferno through a series of direct contrasts with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Stamp Act Of 1765 Dbq Analysis In order to offset the expense of the French and Indian war England instituted new and unpopular taxation policies. The Revenue Act of 1764 also called The Sugar Act lowered the tax on molasses, but increased the penalty for smuggling and allowed for prosecution without a jury trial. This was followed by the Stamp Act in 1765 requiring that stamps be purchased and applied to most paper documents. This highly unpopular act brought the colonists together in the Stamp Act Congress, where they petitioned King George III to repeal the Act. Although Parliament repealed the Stamp Act in 1766 with the Declaratory Act, the Declaratory Act said that the colonies entirely bound by Parliamentary law. In 1767, the Townshend Acts imposed duties on many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Five Platonic Solids The Five Platonic Solids The five platonic solids are the tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, and the icosahedron. They are named for the Greek philosopher Plato. Plato wrote about them in The Timaeus (c.360 B.C.) in which he paired each of the four classical elements, earth, air, water, and fire with a regular solid. Earth was paired with the cube, air with the octahedron, water with the icosahedron, and fire with the tetrahedron. The fifth Platonic solid, the dodecahedron, Plato says that, ...the god used for arranging the constellations on the whole heaven . Aristotle later added a fifth element, the ether and postulated that the heavens were made of this element, but he had no interest in matching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people credit Pythagoras with their discovery. Others say he may have been only familiar with them and that the octahedron and icosahedron belong to Theaetetus. Theaetetus was the first to give a mathematical description of all five and could have been responsible for the first piece of proof that no other regular polyhedra are out there. A net is the shape that is made by unfolding a 3D figure. A net is made up of all the faces of a figure. For a solid to be considered a platonic it needs each face to be a regular polygon and each vertex must come together because if only two came together the figure would collapse on itself. The sum of each interior angle of the faces meeting at a vertex must be less than 360 degrees. A polyhedra solid must have all flat faces, whilst a non polyhedra solid has a least one of its surfaces that is not flat. Regular means all angles are of equal measure, all faces are congruent or equal in every way, and all edges are of equal length. 3D means that shape has width, depth and height. A polygon is a closed shape in a plane figure with at least five straight edges. A dual is a Platonic Solid that fits inside another Platonic Solid and connects to the midpoint of each ... These tigers scientific name is Smilodon or Smilodontini. It lived in North America and South America and it was classified by its huge teeth that stick out of its mouth. Some evidence was found in the tar pits of La Brea. Evidence showed that these cats had diseases like arthritis and other crippling diseases. Saber tooth tigers were carnivores and ate lots of the animals that inhabited the grassy plains like bison and horses also other animals that are herbivores. The only predators for the tiger was humans that would hunt them. The saber tooth tiger has huge long teeth that are serrated and could grow up to 7 inches long and their fur color varied. It could be Tan, Brown, Yellow, Black, White. The saber tooth tiger had strong legs to move around and jump at prey. The tiger could protect itself by growling and through use of body language and posture which will make the aggressor back off, or they will al attack with claws. Social Factors That Changed The World Clothing became less expensive in the 1960 s because of the Industrial Revolution, so more people are seen being involved in popular fashion trends and expressing themselves in ways they please because of the affordability. The sharply angled Vidal Sassoon hair style where women cut their hair shorter and styled it in an angular way. This decade also started the trend of people wanting to look skinnier. André Courrège s came out with many new fashions that reflected America s involvement in the Space Race with Russia during that time and our achievement for having sent a person to the moon. This space age caused Courrège to come out with designs that resemble space suits which included: silver sequined pants, white plastic like boots, and white sunglasses with slits. Courrège also came out with a regular suit that had a geometrically cut jacket and angled collar which became a big hit. • 39. Law Enforcement Police Enforcement Officers Abstract Law enforcement officers are faced with the challenges of using the appropriate amount of force during arrests or apprehensions and are criticized by the public on a daily basis. Not all excessive force is restricted to physical violence; this is where brutality fits in. The reasons for these actions might be explainable, or unacceptable. It may appear that the law enforcement officer is taking advantage of the situation, when in fact they may be following procedure, and in turn can articulate the reasons for taking the excessive actions. Additionally, the lack of proper training or experience in a specific situation may result in the decision to react improperly or against standard operating procedures. Furthermore, the amount of stress that a law enforcement officer is under during the split second decision to use force may contribute to the actions taken. There may be several contributing factors that lead to an officer using excessive force. Regardless of the reason, the public figure of a law enforcement officer should never use their badge or power to instill fear or intimidation, or conduct themselves unprofessionally. The Use of Deadly Force and Police Brutality Even though some law enforcement officers may use their power to intimidate and conduct themselves in any manner as they please, there are many officers that serve and protect; taking the oath that they swore to very seriously.
