Poisonwood Tree Symbolism
The meaning of the cave isn t lying on the surface of the novel. Rather, it waits somewhere deep, and
part of what it requires of us is to bring something of ourselves to the encounter. If we want to figure
out what a symbol might mean, we have to use a variety of tools on it: questions, experience,
preexisting knowledge (Foster 106 107). This passage is referring to dive deep into thought about
what a symbol really stands for. In this case a cave, the cave is more than just an underground
chamber inside the Earth. It s a place of our ancestors, of darkness, and of mystery. In the novel A
Passage to India, the caves have different meanings for everyone. The meaning of a cave means one

The Price family moved from small town Bethlehem, GA to the Congo of Africa. Considering they
came from a wealthy, normal American town, the Congo would be a very different place to get
accustomed to. Father Price thinks the Congo will be a place where he can easily plant crops from
back in the US and integrate the idea of farming within the Congo. My Father had been going to the
garden alone, every day, to sit and think. It disturbed him that the plants thrived and filled the fenced
patch with bloom like a funeral parlor, but would not set fruit...The flowers would open and close,
then the green fruits behind them would shrivel and turn brown. There wasn t a single exception. In
exchange for our honest sweat, we d so far earned flowers and leaves, but nothing we could actually
have for supper (Kingsolver 77 78). Father Price believed that he could do good in the Congo and
plant a garden to show the Congolese how to farm and grow crops. This was a mistake because the
Congo is so geographically different from Georgia. Also, as Foster puts it you cannot put someone
into a complex setting who is normal , and Father Price does fall into that category of normality. The
flowers don t bear fruit as a result of the geographical differences, but also may not bear fruit as a
result of Father Prices arrogance towards the people of the Congo. He thinks of them as clueless
people who can t do anything for

Relational Leadership Model Essay
As an ethical and successful leader I believe that one must remember is that you should always
considers your followers over yourself. Without them, you are not able to get anything done. You are
best able to gage if your being a successful leader if others are willing to follow you to accomplish
positive change. If you are always considering others then it is easy to maintain an ethical approach
because you make yourself more aware of what could be viewed as unethical within not only your
contextual view but also others who think differently then you. The Relational Leadership Model is
useful to build the mindset for thinking about others if you focus on the ethical and empowering side
of the model (Komives, S. R., Lucas, N., McMahon, T. R, 2013). The way your treat those around you
makes an important statement to your leadership style. Over all we do see men and woman in the field
of museum work but the way they are treated is vastly different. Male curators will be involved in a
more science and research field while women will usually fill the maintenance and care role. These
two positions area not equally respected though they both use the title of curator. To maintain a
collection is admirable but why collect if no information is obtained. So the woman in these positions
are just a stepping stone for a researcher to come in and reap the rewards of intellectual discovery. The
difficulties to practicing this form of leadership is that it is impossible to consider every

Class Reflection Essay
I went to Ning s informational speech section. The classroom is located room 209 at Williams
Building (WMS). It took me a while to find this building because I seldom go to the area around
Westcott Fountain. Williams is large compound building that served as lecture halls and classrooms
for undergraduate s general education courses. Room 209 is where the public speech class took place.
It is a middle size classroom in the corner and next to a lounge area. I saw some of the students
rehearsal their informative speech at the lounge when I arrived early and wait for Ning to come. Ning
s class has 15 students with varying major background. On the day I visited, most of the students came
to class on time. Three students arrived about 5 minutes late, and Ning said she would mark them as
late. Ning told me that too many late marks would negatively affect the student s participation final
grade. I learned a lot of teaching skills from Ning, such as how to start the class lively, how to
organize student s speech and how to claim down students when facing unpredicted things. Ning
started her class by showing a video clip of humorous talk show. I think it is an effective way to
reduce student s pre performance anxiety. She then overviewed what the class was going to do and
gave updates on class assignments. Then, Ning asked volunteer students give the first speech. Others
could just step to the front if they felt like they are ready to go. I think this is the best way to

Reflection About Relationships
In the two years we have been together, my boyfriend, Andy, and I never talked about what we
considered cheating to be. This past July, I found out that he had spent the night in his car with one of
my closests friends, and his ex girlfriend. I had told him in the past that I was not comfortable with
him being out with a girl late at night, but never fully elaborated on it. Realizing that he had done
something I wasn t comfortable with, he told me he was up late playing Halo, and kept his outing from
me for almost a month. Since we had never laid our boundaries, there were no boundaries to break.
Personally, I view cheating as doing something you would not tell your significant other about, but he
sees it as having intimate relations with someone other than your significant other. He saw it as him
doing something wrong and apologized for it, but felt that it was nowhere near cheating. Our
disagreement stems from the differences between our beliefs and expectations for each other.
In our relationship, my boyfriend had never done anything for me to lack a sense of trust. He let me
know where he was, even when I did not want to know, and always tried his best to keep in contact
with me. When it came to me spending time with the opposite sex, he was always comfortable with
the idea which is why he thought I felt the same. He had complete trust in me and never minded the
time or the place. Growing up, his father had an intimate relationship with another woman, so to him,

Analysis Of Martin Luther King s Beyond Vietnam-A Time To...
Martin Luther King Jr., one of America s greatest civil rights leaders, was an avid protester of the
Vietnam War. Claiming that it is an enemy of the poor, he delivered a powerful speech called Beyond
Vietnam A Time to Break Silence at Riverside Church on April 4, 1967. Historically, King s speeches
have been known to evoke strong emotional responses from his audience. This speech does not differ;
the strong word choice and touching life stories King includes are essential in connecting with the
readers. With details and examples, he writes a compelling statement for his cause, including logic
while he develops his arguments. These two elements lead to the success of Martin Luther King Jr. s
speech. The combination of the two strengthen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps the clearest example of this is in paragraph three. This section covers King s experiences in
the ghettos of the North over the last three years. He says that as he walked among the desperate,
rejected, and angry young men, I have told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles. An essential part of
his reasoning falls in his counterclaim. While subtle, he includes it in the beginning of the fourth
paragraph, quoting the people who asked him: Aren t you a civil rights leader? and thereby mean to
exclude me from the movement for peace. By including this statement, King allows for a differing
perspective in his work, showing that he understands both sides of the argument. King knows and
acknowledges that to many, he seems a hypocrite: someone who claims to be a civil rights leader
fighting for equality but also someone who says he wants peace. But by showing the differing sides of
public opinion, he demonstrates that he understands the diverse opinions that the readers may hold. It
makes the argument seem less biased and instead, more fair, which definitely causes his speech to
seem more logical and

Purpose
The purpose of the experiment Observation of Chemical Changes is to examine the properties of
chemical reaction and relate those reactions to products commonly found in a home environment.
Through this experiment someone can macroscopically analyze whether a solution is acidic or base
and identify the presence of starches in food.
Procedure
For each of the combinations of chemicals below put 2 drops of each in their own well in the 96 well
plate. Making sure to place only 2 drops of the first chemical then ... Show more content on

Evidence For The Lottery
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is about a small village where they have a strange annual tradition.
The tradition is a lottery where whoever wins is stoned to death by the other townspeople. Why would
they do such a horrible thing to their friends and family members? They started the lottery as a
sacrifice for good luck. They wanted good crops for the year and they thought a human sacrifice
would help them. But, now most of the people no longer think it helps the crops. Most probably think
it s wrong to murder someone just because they lost the lottery, but they are terrified to upset tradition,
so they blindly continue the lottery.
The first piece of evidence is on page 13, line 8. Here it talks about how the town is small, only
around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence for that is on page 22 line 260, where Old Man Warner says the old sayings, Lottery in june,
corn be heavy soon. This shows that they thought the lottery would bring them luck. Another piece of
evidence is one page 28 line 427. Here, Steve Adams says, Come on, come on, everyone. This
indicates that the people need to be riled up and they probably don t want to, but ome people,
specifically Old Man Warner, feel they have to.
Another quote from Old Man Warner is on page 23 line 268, after hearing some towns are giving up
their lottery, he says, Nothing but trouble in that. Pack of crazy fools. This shows that he disapproves
of not doing the lottery. It is all he has ever known and it scares him to think that the town could be
giving up something from him parents and grandparents generations.
This story is about speaking up for up you believe in and to not blindly follow what others in the past
have laid down as the norm. If no one spoke out when people were being discriminated against, it
would never have changed. Instead of standing up and questioning the lottery, everyone just kind of
went along with it and people continued to

What Is An Unknown Titration Of Hydrochloric Acid
The purpose of this experiment is to determine an unknown concentration of acid (hydrochloric acid)
with a standard solution of a base (sodium carbonate) using titration method. The hypothesis is; as we
know the concentration of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) we can obtain the concentration of
hydrochloric acid using the titration of a standard solution. Theoretical Principles behind Titration:
Titration is the slow addition of one solution of a known concentration (called a titrant) to a known
volume of another solution of unknown concentration until the reaction reaches neutralisation, which
is often indicated by a colour change. The solution called the titrant must satisfy the necessary
requirements to be a primary or secondary standard. In a broad sense, titration is a technique to
determine the concentration of an unknown solution. We can use the reaction to find out the molarity
of the solution by measuring the product(s) that is formed. In this experiment, we use a known
concentration (Na2CO3) to determine an unknown concentration of acid (HCl). This reaction is
neutralisation reaction, which we ll get water and salt as the products. Acid + Base Salt + Water We
can use a pH indicator, a chemical that changes colour depending on the pH, to show us when the
reaction has completely neutralised. This point, where all acid was consumed and there is no excess of
base, is called the equivalence point (end point). We can use this

Australia Soft Drink Market
Cultural Background
The FSANZ phone survey of adolescents and young adults in Australia found that Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islanders were more likely to consume sugar sweetened soft drinks compared to other
Australians (72 per cent versus 50 per cent) and consumed significantly larger amounts (249 ml versus
128 ml per day) (Food Standards Australia New Zealand 2003a). The 2004 SPANS survey of children
in Years 6 10 in NSW found consumption of soft drinks to be lowest among students of Asian
background and highest among boys of Southern European and Middle Eastern background (Booth et

One of the few studies examining the factors affecting soft drink consumption in adults showed that
consumption of sugar sweetened soft drinks was associated with less restrained and more external
eating, i.e. sensitive to external stimuli such as taste (Elfhag et al. 2007). The study, conducted among
3265 adults in Sweden showed that, in contrast, diet soft drinks were consumed by persons with a
higher body mass index (BMI) (possibly in an attempt to reduce their weight), more restrained eating
and more emotional eating.
Parents as Models
A study in Australia showed that the influence of mothers, either as models of eating behaviours or as
the providers of food, is pervasive (Campbell et al. 2007). Parental soft drink consumption was
positively associated with younger children s intake in two studies (Grimm et al. 2004; Vereecken et
al. 2004). Mother s consumption was found to be an independent predictor for regular soft drink
consumption among children in Belgium (Vereecken et al. 2004). In the US, children aged 8 13 years
whose parents regularly drank soft drinks were nearly three times more likely to consume soft drinks
five or more times per week compared with those whose parents did not regularly drink soft drinks
(Grimm et al. 2004).
A higher frequency of preparing food was found to be related to lower intakes of carbonated
beverages among female adolescents in the US (Larson

Cadbury Worldwide Case Study
It is interesting to read the article about Cadbury Worldwide. From perspectives of 3 three different
cultures. While it might be lucrative to start providing your services, or selling products across your
borders, an option should be thought of as real journey of discovering new cultures and customs of
different groups of people. It will be useful to understand them and how to do business in their
countries. Be aware of the regulation and standards are important. There are two examples of the
purchasing Cadbury UK by the American food gain Kraft and how the two work cultures of the
American and the British are different.
Cadbury is a leader in the UK confectionery market. the interaction between American managers and
British managers and workers after purchasing Cadbury by the American owned Kraft is an example
how two different cultures may clash with each other. As highlighted by Tarique, Briscoe, and Schuler
(2016) that one of the biggest mistakes the HR management of MNE s fall in is navigating through the
myriad of local laws and regulations with assumptions that worked in their homeland will work
somewhere else. The MNE s should choose the right approaches to deal with employment relations to
ensure that will have a healthy work environment and get the desired results. and productivity level.
There are seven approaches suggested. I think in the case of Cadbury UK, it will be beneficial to use

How Did Elvis Presley s Impact On American Culture

Changes Of American Society Involving Race Relations
Race relations in the United States have, for most of their history, been very rocky. Major changes
came about, with the American Revolution and new technology like the cotton gin revolutionising the
American economy. A large part of the American South s economy though was built on slave labour,
particularly going into the mid 19th century. Ideas of slavery and race changed over this period as new
ideas and changes to society came about. In this essay, I will be discussing changes in American
society involving race relations, focusing mainly on slavery and societies views of it, beginning in
1785 and ending in 1817.
A letter from Thomas Jefferson to his friends in Europe in 1785, gives us an interesting view of how
the upper, educated class in the late 18th century saw race relations. In it, he speaks mainly of native
people, and how in mind and body they are equal to the white man (8.5). He states that black people
are not equal to the white man in body or in mind though, but grudgingly admits that in a few
generations, if properly cultivated , could become equal in both mind and body to the white man (8.5).
This is an interesting view, because he believes that one day that African Americans could be equal
instead of always being inferior. Next is a confession from a slave, whose brother attempted a
rebellion which would take out the Governor of Virginia and free the other slaves who lived on
plantations nearby. It was discovered when some of the slaves confessed to

Compare And Contrast Modernist And Post-Modernism In...
Modernist and Post modernist in Development Modernism is closely associated with the setting in of
modern civilization compared to postmodernism. It is modernism that lay the foundation for
postmodernism (Muller 312). After the World War II, the human race achieved what is referred to as
postmodernism. The two concepts may appear antagonistic in nature, but a closer look at each reveals
how well each complements the other. Art and literature are among the numerous human aspects that
have been influenced in diverse ways by the concepts of modernism and post modernism. In this
paper, the significance of developmental studies in elaborating the two concepts as the poles of
negotiation rather than competing concepts shall be highlighted more so from Miller s school of
thought.
Modernist concept in enhancing sustained engagement
In this case, we realize that modernism always tends to exclude the order and the rationality mainly in

Causes and Effects of the Controlled Substances Act of 1970
In 1970 the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) was put into place by the Congress of the United States

federal U.S. drug policy which regulates the possession, use, manufacturing and importation of certain
controlled substances. The substances controlled under this act fall under various classifications.
These classifications are known as schedules. The legislation created 5 schedules with different
qualifications for a substance to be included in each. Schedule I includes some of the drugs that are

The Instruments Of A Contract
Abstract A contract is essential to permeate a concept implementation between two or multiple parties.
When a person agrees to buy a home, there is a contract with the provider same is the case to our
home furniture that we achieve by contracting with the respective utility providers. Therefore, a
contract is essential to enforce a potential into action. In the pursuit of the instruments of a contract, it
is noted that there a potential similarity and subtle disparity between oral and written contracts.
However, justifying an oral contract than a reasonable doubt can be a daunting than proving a written
contract. Some contracts demand to be transcribed and will not take effect until the vital components

Therefore, the ultimate purpose of the rule is to separate the extrinsic and intrinsic features of evidence
regarding the direct statements to the agreement and its significant antecedent. By that, it will
eliminate the alterations that can influence components of a contract and possible ambiguities that will
contradict the commitment and compliance of a preceding written instrument. In the recent past, most
Australian and English courts would emphasize on the practice and application of solving contractual
disputes traditionally. The traditional system renders the court a freedom to practice jurisdiction
without considering the extrinsic values of the transaction. However, with the intervention of the
modern parole framework of assessing evidence, judges admit it is easy to administer justice. The
jurisdiction is verified after critically evaluating the background of the parties and the contract in a
significant correlation to the core aim of a contract. Additionally, in some instances, the court will
consider evidence of prior negotiations. However it is practical in the case where the parties are
unaware of the belying facts and that these facts will not manifest any form of biasedness amongst the
contradicting parties. The approach enables the Australian jurisdiction to obtain adequate background

St. Laurent Boulevard Walking Tour Reflection
Geography: St Laurent Boulevard Walking Tour Reflection
St Laurent Boulevard, popularly known as The Main, I believe, is a historical region in Canada with a
strong sense of history. It is a unique place in the history of Canada, arising from emergence and
development of the various cultural communities that integrated to form a representative of Canadian
society as a whole. Further, according to its cosmopolitan feature, the constant renewal of due to
merging and mixing of culture aesthetics and the commemorative intent gives it a very particular

Also, St Laurent is the immigrants corridor: with garments and textile factories, its many local
businesses, and the theater and entertainment world, it evolved in a lifestyle that even inspired artists
and writers. According to author Aline Gubbay, although the street has no outstanding buildings or
spectacular monuments, it has value worth more than that. What it offers together with continuity of
its long history, is human scale, a line of city life, dwellers in its corridors, who through ups and

Having The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT)
Why am I having this test?
The glucose tolerance test (GTT) is done to check how your body processes sugar (glucose). This is
one of several tests used to diagnose diabetes that develops during pregnancy (gestational diabetes
mellitus). Gestational diabetes is a temporary form of diabetes that some women develop during
pregnancy. It usually occurs around weeks 24 28 of pregnancy and goes away after delivery.
You may have the GTT test after having a 1 hour glucose test with results that indicate that you may
have gestational diabetes. You may also have this test if:
You have a history of giving birth to very large babies or have experienced repeated fetal loss
(stillbirth).
You have signs and symptoms of diabetes, such as:
Changes in your vision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you need help stopping, ask your health care provider.
The testing procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals.
How are the results reported?
Your results will be reported as milligrams of glucose per deciliter of blood (mg/dL) or millimoles per
liter (mmol/L). You will compare your results to normal ranges that were established after testing a
large group of people (reference ranges). Reference ranges may vary among different people, labs, and
hospitals. For this test, blood sample reference ranges are:
Fasting: less than 95 mg/dL
1 hour after drinking glucose: less than 180 mg/dL
2 hours after drinking glucose: less than 155 mg/dL
3 hours after drinking glucose: 140 md/dL
What do the results mean?
Results within reference ranges are considered normal, meaning that your glucose levels are well
controlled. Results higher than the reference ranges may mean that you recently experienced stress,
such as from an injury or a sudden (acute) condition like a heart attack or stroke, or that you have:
Gestational diabetes.
Acute stress response.
Cushing syndrome.
Tumors such as pheochromocytoma or glucagonoma.

Chapter Summary Of The Long Road To Greed
CHAPTER 38: THE LONG ROAD TO CLOVER Summary: In 2009, when Rebecca Skloot went to
Clover for a visit and reminiscing the town where Henrietta s journey began. She thought the road
seemed longer than she remembered, and then she recognised that she was driving past the Post
Office. She stopped the car and stared in surprise at a ground full of remains that had once been
downtown Clover. She picked up some of the pieces from the town with the intention to give them to
Deborah. After passing by the Main Street in Clover, Rebecca felt like almost all the things that were
associated to Henrietta s past was fading. Gary, Day, and Cootie had already died and now the whole
town of Clover had gone too. It was in the same year when Rebecca finished the book and she had
never forgotten her agreement with Deborah to read it to her. She then contacted Deborah many times
and was left unanswered. Her voice messages were not even responded as well. It was then she found
out after contacting Sonny that Deborah just died after Mother s Day in 2009. Even though an
unfortunate happened to the Lackses family, Deborah had been happy. All of her grandchildren in the
family were doing well in school, graduating and going to college. In particular, Lawrence and
Bobbette s granddaughter Erika was inspired to study science because of the story of her great
grandmother Henrietta. She was the first descendants of Henrietta who attended graduate school. After
Sonny told her the news about Deborah s

Food And Drug Law Journal Analysis
According to the Journal of Marketing and Communication, writing is one of the most crucial
elements to success in the business world. In both journal articles, Food and Drug Law Journal and
Journal of Marketing and Communication, I found a common theme. Each journal made a strong
emphasis that the main reason for any type of print in business is to acquire customers. The main
topics discussed in these journals were labels, marketing and communication. The main purpose of
these two journals are closely related. The Food and Drug Law Journal emphasizes points on between
the line facts about food and drugs and the corruption in those two industries. Where as the Journal of

Food and Drug Law Journal is written more for the professional world. Attorneys, judges, and
sometimes graduate students are the main audience for the Food and Drug Law Journal. This type of
reading is very professional, and informational. The type of writing displayed in these two journals
correlate with the audience for each journal. The Journal of Marketing is an easier read in comparison

informational, discussion and conversational. In turns, the Food and Drug Law Journal is written in a
formal and professional tone. All of the information displayed in this text is informational and very
dry to read. The way writing is used in the business field is extremely interesting. The type of writing

Or Fester Like A Sore And A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
As the dream for opportunity in the African American community continually gets repudiated, the
hope shifts to hopelessness. Another visual image that Hughes offers introduces the description of a
sore. For example, as Hughes was writing this poem he inquires, Or fester like a sore / and the run? (4
5). The use of sore connotes a painful injury. This simile suggests that both a sore and a dream
deferred are both injuries that cause excruciating pain to the human body. The running of the sore
refers to infection that takes part in the sore. Hughes similarly compares the infected sore with an
infection caused by the dream deferred. Syntax pertains to the arrangement of words in the text
including punctuation, length, and focus. Hughes uses

Socrates View Of Children In The 21st Century
In society today, the view of children has yet to transfigure. Over two thousand years ago, Greek
Philosopher Socrates argued that children ...love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for
authority, they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now
tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They
contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and
tyrannize over their teachers. Socrates view has gradually developed into a cliché, although a vast
amount of time has lapsed, this view of children still permeates in the 21st Century today. Conjointly,
in literature children still face this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Jeanette recounts her life succeeding her encounter with her mother as she is seen diving through
the dumpster, at the beginning of scene one, with no remorse. Whereas Jeanette abashed by what she
sees, decides to cower and hide. Although her mother is content with her life Jeanette invites her to
lunch and confronts her about her outlook on life. Rose Mary, Jeanette s Mother, showing her spite
towards the confrontation tells Jeanette that she has her values mixed up and she is the one with a
problem. The memoir takes a dramatic deviation from reality to her latter life, age three to be exact. In
this shift we see a more, inquisitive and adventurous Jeanette. At the beginning of the shift Jeanette,
recaps her earliest memory of being burned at her very juvenile age, as she cooked for herself hotdogs
on the stovetop. The flame caught the pink fabric of [her] skirt and climbed [her] stomach. Then the
flames leaped up and reached her face. In this harrowing depiction, our child narrator doesn t
accentuate the immense amount of pain she is tangibly experiencing, from her third degree like burns,
but rather her fascination with the events taking place. In view of this, the usage of the acclaimed child
narrator is effective, you would presume for there to be a tone of morbidity. Rather in this scene the
readers experience the tone of fascination, through the usage of the child

Trust In King Arthur s Knights Of The Round Table
Trust is a word that is constantly used by people on a regular basis. It is always being given, taken
back, tested, or confirmed, and it is something that is prevalent in literature. In King Arthur and his
Knights of the Round Table, King Arthur, the notably gallant and selfless leader of Britain, partakes on
quests with his knights that require bravery and chivalry. As presented through the actions of
characters in King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, trust is the belief in the reliability of
someone and it is something that is earned, not rashly given; it is given based on the qualities,
reputation, or the strength of the relationship with that someone.
One way in which trust is conveyed is through Balyn and Balan s initial ... Show more content on

Throughout King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, King Arthur developed a vigorous,
caring relationship with his knights. Towards the end of the book Sir Launcelot, a noble knight that
was King Arthur s greatest knight, went to war with King Arthur because of their mutual love for
Queen Guinevere, King Arthur s wife. At one point of the dispute, Sir Launcelot requested for a truce
between King Arthur s men and his men. After listening to Sir Launcelot s plea, Then King Arthur was
deeply moved, thinking of the great courtesy of Launcelot and of all the noble deeds he had done in
the past. And in spite of all that Sir Gawain could do he made peace with Launcelot (363). In this
moment, King Arthur reached a final decision about the truce and agreed that in return for Launcelot
giving Queen Guinevere back, Launcelot would leave until his aid is requested again. The fact that
King Arthur saw Launcelot s deeds were noble in spite of his strife with him and Sir Gawain s
resistance to the truce shows that King Arthur was able to look past Launcelot s wrong doings in that
moment because he knew that Launcelot was a skilled, chivalrous knight. King Arthur had an option
to refuse the request for a truce because Launcelot could have been deceiving about the truce but he
chose not to. Moreover, the Knight s Code of Chivalry was a system that many knights in the Middle
Ages went by and it was a code that King Arthur valued in his knights. King Arthur s trust in
Launcelot shows that he valued Launcelot as a person more than his offense, which may have been
personally difficult to forgive, and this trust is an example of how personality influences the

Comparing The Frog Prince By Robert Coover And Joyce Thomas
It has been debated on whether or not the transformation from a slam on a wall to a kiss shows female
empowerment in the various versions of The Frog Prince. Modern writers have expressed their stance
on how the kiss functions within the story to transform characters and deliver them to their happily
ever after. Other implications of the kiss would be it s ability to serve as a means of empowerment for
women and whether it aids to overcome the patriarchy. Robert Coover s and Joyce Thomas s versions
of The Frog Prince offer two contemporary perspectives on the transformation of the prince and
princess and the resulting happily ever after. Robert Coover s The Frog Prince is a reinforcement of
the gender/sex role expectations because the main female character is dependent on the man for her

I ended up applying examples of this into one area of the resume, and break out by category. Resumes
I had come across had technical skills closer to the bottom, and general skills closer to the top. From
my perspective, it would be helpful to have these in one section of the resume, so that the hiring
manager can review first, which programming languages the applicant has knowledge in, then what
competencies are held outside of programming. In return, this helps the hiring manager to gain an
understanding of how the applicant can apply their overall knowledge to the position. Specific skills in
my resume included T SQL, C#, JavaScript, user acceptance testing, technical analysis, and material
gathering, and each of these in fact applied to the job description in one area. Additional skills were
added that could be useful to the position as well. Prior to this assignment, for work history, I had just
used bullet points for specific tasks done on a daily basis. From looking at other resumes for this field,
key achievement fields stood out to me. I carefully selected my key achievements to be geared
towards using knowledge to help other teams, and utilizing applications that are used in the position
each day. In my opinion, this will give the hiring manager the impression that I am knowledgeable in

We Need Same sex Marriage Now
Known to some people as a lifetime commitment of devotion, to others a promise to reside with a
stranger, and even to some people as a union arranged by their parents, marriage is a widely varying
ritual practiced all over the world. In the United States, marriage is a freedom of choice and an act of
love, supported with benefits and privileges from the government. It has traditionally been the union
of a woman and a man, made with the expectation of permanence and the aim of producing and
raising offspring. Tradition, however, is beginning to change. The divorce rate is growing, there is an
increase of step families and single parent families, and more and more couples are opting not to have

I don t know one American who would willingly surrender any of these rights² (p. 45).
Instead of legalizing homosexual marriage, many people are advocating a compromise the domestic
partnership. Basically, a domestic partnership is a publicly recognized consent between heterosexual
or homosexual couples to share the cost of living expenses. The consent also serves as a symbolic
commitment to monogamy for many gays. However, many people qualify for the domestic
partnership status under its vague specifications. ³What constitutes a domestic partner ?² questions

This separate but equal attempt is, in truth, not at all an equal alternative to marriage. It is an
agreement proposed by some cities to provide their unmarried municipal workers with bereavement
leave and other benefits. However, the benefits offered are only a small part of the privileges entitled
to married couples, and are available to only a small number of gay and lesbian couples in several
cities.
Furthermore, not only does a domestic partnership deny homosexual couples many rights, it is a
statement that gay relationships are sub normal, which is discriminatory. The widespread belief that
homosexuality is Œwrong causes many gays to live lives filled with alienation and separation from
society.

The writer sits, their fingers lay gently across the lettering of a keyboard. Images and words swirl

perfect story in mind, the writer must first choose the most effective mode of discourse to properly

contains either one or various types of this communication. Rachel Lloyd, the author of Girls Like Us:

Lloyd uses description when the sight and sounds of the sexually exploited girls experiences are
portrayed. An example would be when she recounts the time she visited a victim of sexual exploitation
in the hospital. The passage reads Her upper lip is split completely in two; her jaw is broken, her nose
as well. Most of her teeth are gone... [Two years previous] I had joked about how she looked like a
tiny china doll. Now that doll had been mutilated, her delicate porcelain features smashed (pg 113).
Here Lloyd uses description to emphasize both the innocence of the child as well as the physical
brutality this girl had fallen victim to. When decent descriptive methods are used, it is easier for the
audience to become more sympathetic towards the events as well as the characters depicted in the
piece of writing. This particular mode of the dissertation is common within memoirs, for the author
wants to be able to share their experiences in an engaging way. Therefore, the use of descriptive
rhetoric within Lloyd s memoir was effective in illustrating particular details to generate the appeal of
pathos, the emotion of sympathy within the

Shiloh Literary Analysis
What makes a seemingly normal book a classic? Literary lenses. One of those classic books, Shiloh by
Phyllis Reynolds, shows the reader justice, difficult choices, and allows the reader to discover how it

Technological developments have to such an outbreak in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), they are
used in a wide variety of today s industrial and consumer applications and holds limitless future
potentials for any type of ambience surveillance, hence fault tolerance in WSNs which are easily

1. Introduction The sensor nodes in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are used for surveillance of
ambient environment, which can be unpredictable. The sensor nodes are often exposed to harsh
surroundings, which could lead to many problems like failure of the sensing unit, radio transceiver,
and processors; not just that, also sensor node death occurs due to energy crunch eventually. So it s
understood that faults directly affect the network lifetime of a Wireless Sensor Network. Wireless
Sensor Network Lifetime means the time period required for the network to function with the
collective effort of sensors even if some of the nodes have failed. When this percentage of failed nodes
increases, fault prevention and avoidance strategies are needed to be applied to improve reliability and
performance of the network. A reliable WSN yields accurate results. For fault tolerance in WSN,
maintenance of a consistent quality of service (QoS) is necessary. Also energy efficiency comes into
picture, which is a difficult task to achieve.
There are also some software failures related to the operating system or embedded programs in the
sensor. WSN has a tolerance level that defines the capacity it would have to deal with the various
faults of the sensors. The degree of tolerance depends on the three

been one of the scariest, and that is why the Germans followed him. At the beginning of the story, a
foreigner named Moche the Beadle, was taken by the Germans and they said not to worry because he
would be safe, but they tricked him and others and killed them instead. Moche said that [The Jews]

Over slow time Hitler gained control over everyone, and he transfers the Jews to concentration camps.
When this happens, the Jews now realize that they are in trouble, and fear starts to take place inside
them. When they arrive at the concentration camp a German soldier says to them, Those of you who
have gold, silver, or watches in your possession must give them up now. Anyone who is later found to
have kept anything will be shot on the spot (Wiesel 33). The Germans took everything from the Jews.
By the time they reached the camps, they had nothing, barely any food or water to survive. The Jews
were overwhelmed with fear. Not only was there fear in the Jews, but Hitler also made the German
citizens afraid of him. The

Goal: Incentivize the purchase of a digital refraction system as well as assist new clients in
maximizing the value of their purchase
Total Words in this Document:
Title:
Congratulations on your new digital refraction system! You ve taken the next steps to grow your
ophthalmic business and provide your customers with a better overall experience. This investment will
pay off greatly for the years to come, building you a solid, steady additional income stream while
giving your clients the high level of quality of service they ve come to expect.

The best way for them to care is to center your pieces around your clients.
Each piece of content you publish should emphasize the relationship between your customer and the
digital refraction system. HIghlighting the benefits to customers will re frame their vision and
understanding of your practice s new purchase.
Cleaner: Not only are these systems easier to clean in the prime points of client contact than manual
systems, they are easier to clean and maintain than manual systems. Fogginess or dullness on the
mirror can affect the readings taken by the doctor or technician using a manual system, but a digital
system removes that challenge.
More efficient: Manual phoropters require the ophthalmic professional to enter data during the pretest
into the refractor and the patient s individual charts and records. A digital refractor, though, allows
professionals to synchronize each of their pieces of equipment, which makes sure each piece of
equipment that will be used is pre set to the exact specifications needed by client, as well as uploading
the data to the patient s digital records.
More streamlined: A manual refraction system requires doctors and technicians to complete a wide
variety of administrative tasks to make sure that the phoroptor is ready for the client and that the
numbers read are accurate and consistent. Digital systems eliminate the need for many of these
processes, allow the doctors and technicians to spend more

World s Saddest Music Editing
I ll let you in on a little secret, I don t believe that all this sadness really exists. Well, bad things
happen, plenty of it, not denying that. Somehow, when people start trying to show how they ve been
affected by these bad things, they start faking it. They know that deep down no one really cares, but
they want people to know they re suffering damn it, and others will go along with it, making faces
hoping someone will notice, so that when something awful happens to them, they can get some of this
fake pity for themselves. The act of enjoying sadness and the ability to dramatize it is a reoccurring
theme throughout The World s Saddest Music. It calls attention to itself by emphasizing emotion
ironically through Soviet montage editing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the basis of each timed performance, whether it be the Siamese vs. Mexicans, Canada vs. Africa,
Spain vs. America, and so forth, another aspect of continuity editing is present that further supports the
hybrid that exist sparingly throughout the film. The saddest music performances are debuted using
shot/reverse shot continuity editing. The final buzzer sound that communicates to each act to perform
simultaneously, debuts two shots edited together that alternates between each performing country,
similar to a conversation. Each country is at each other s necks, communicated and intensified by the
shot/reverse shot of which country is truly performing the saddest music. Nonetheless, Soviet montage
editing does triumph, as the music during these scenes correlates with the editing of the image,
revealing the rhythmic aspect of it. Furthermore, it s also evident that the making of entertainment
based on the pain of others feeds into the capitalist society. The artful composition between opponents
exploits misery for money. The increased sale of beer as the audience enjoys each sad performance,
further supports this theory, which is seen through the cuts between the performers, the audience and
the trickling coins after the purchase of beer. It allows their actions to be guided by the concept of
private property; The Saddest Music in the

Art In The Cold War Essay
Artists and designers had one big role in the Cold War battle. Their work was used for propaganda .
Propaganda is used to make a public, even if missleading, cause or political point of view. Artists
actions and opinions were prized. In the late 1940s the formation of one party states under communist
rule, and the imposition of Socialist Realism throughout the Easterm Bloc, disappointed hopes for the
freedom of the modern artist or the designer in the East. Only in socialist Yugoslavia, where Moscow s
influence was quickly rejected could modernism flourish. Abstract art and design that was functional
were compared to bigger ideas and new purposes, mostly in West Germany. Then came Socialist
Realism . Social Realism was started as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Politicians in the Soviets put peace out there, even though they had a big grip on the Eastern European
societies.Artists and designers helped with their creativity to help with peace in the East and West. No
Peace Treaty stopped the war . It ended with the local communites having a better chance at getting
power. Images of propaganda on page 914 of Western Civilization by Joshua Cole shows how the war
ended with the first image showing the defeat of the Germans. The second image shows a German
soldier on the ground showing the defeat. The last image shows Stalin and Benes marching together.
After the cold war in 1960 1990 there was more arts that come to light such as music, more arts ,
adding painting , and film was introduced. Alot of the new big changes in culture in the 1960s was
based on the spending and what the new generation desires. New generations stayed in school longer
and worked less . The late 1950 and on music became big for the new generations culture. By the mid
1950s portable radios started coming to the United States and Europe and being sold. Radio programs
started broadcasting.Magazines reports of singers and movies. Themes and lyrics went toward the
younger generations. Technology advances helped make records as long asthey used to be and

Logos In The Declaration Of Independence
What were Thomas Jefferson s, Alexander Hamilton s, John Jay s, and James Madison s reasons
behind the United States historical government documents? During the time period of the founding
father s the American colonies were barely starting to form a government and it had its flaws and they
still had to deal with gaining their independence from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence
written by Thomas Jefferson was written to give reasons to why the American colonies are going to
separate from Great Britain. Hamilton, Jay, and Madison wrote the Federalists Papers to try and
convince the people of the American colonies to ratify the new constitution. In the Declaration of
Independence, Jefferson gives logical reasoning and also emotional reasoning through the type of
words he uses and in the Federalists Papers they use logical reasoning and their credibity to convince
the people. When Thomas Jefferson writes the Declaration of Independence he writes it to explain
why the American colonies will be separating from Great Britian. He does that by using logos. An
example of this from the Declaration of Independence is when he writes about the king of Great
Britain changing things. For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and
altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments: . This passage explains some of the reasons
why they separate from Great Britain, Jefferson uses actual facts so that Great Britain can t deny it.
Through out the entire declaration he uses logos to back up why the American colonies leave. He
doesn t want people to think they are leaving just for no reason.
In the Federalists Papers No.10 James Madison explains all the things that the Union promised, but
how they never kept the promise. He explains this by using logos. In the Federalists Papers No.10 he
gives his knowledge on the situation of the government and explains how even the people realize the
government is messed up. Complaints are everywhere heard from our most considerate and virtuous
citizens, equally the friends of public and private faith, and of public and personal liberty, that our
governments are too unstable, that the public good is disregarded in the conflicts of rival parties, and

Hamadryas Baboons Essay
The complex world of primates revolves around a spectrum of different behaviors and physical
features that can be intertwined with their evolutionary history and current ecosystem. Two species of
baboons that share a common ancestor dating back twenty million years ago are Papio hamadryas and
Theropithecus gelada (Falk, 173). More commonly called as hamadryas baboons and geladas, they are
known to share many characteristics because of this common lineage. In fact, they are categorized
under the same order of classification, down to the same subfamily of primates, known as
cercopithecidae. Despite sharing a common subfamily, these two species of baboons manage to
encompass divergent qualities in response to their environment.
Evolution has played a monumental role in regards to the similarities and differences between geladas
and hamadryas baboons. Moreover, many traits have been retained within the same subfamily.
However, it can also be said that certain behaviors and features diverged from the family tree. These ...

For instance, the reason for the aggressive behavior of male leaders in hamadryas is mainly due to
reproductive fitness, however predation risk can also play a part. OMU male leaders condition the
females through force to stay in close proximity to prevent other males from mating with her.
However, since their habitat lacks in track coverage, it places them in a vulnerable state from
predators. Females in closer proximity to the male leader have a higher chance of being protected in
the event a predator attacks. Therefore, this increases her survival rate because male leaders are the
only members to engage in combat. As for geladas, they follow the cercopithicine model of
dominance. Males do not exhibit aggressive behavior because high grasslands have sufficient
coverage from predators, especially from birds of

Why Division 1 Athletes Should Be Paid
Abstract
This paper debates whether Division 1 athletes should be paid or not. I explain the situation to the
readers that do not have much background knowledge of the topic. I go on to say that Division 1
players should be paid because they do not have much money to buy necessities. The NCAA does not
allow players to get jobs due to the workload required for their particular sport. The athletes also
cannot sell their items or autographed items for revenue. My next reason athletes should be paid is
because they are the core of the collegiate sports. Without the players, there would be no revenue
period. My next point is that the scholarships are not enough to compensate or the time the athletes put
into their sport. Although the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gary Clark, a Wake Forest basketball player, gives his opinion on the situation:
At a lot of schools, players come from underprivileged families. I know we are getting a scholarship,
but some folks don t have enough cash to get something to eat when he school cafeteria is closed, or
money to buy a used car. . . . I am not saying we should get paid with a full time salary, but a stipend
would be nice. (W. Ford, personal communication, April 28, 2011)
It is true. Many players are from unfortunate situations and being stripped of the rights to work for
necessities to get their college paid for is an unethical burden the NCAA has placed on these young
adults shoulders. At the least, these athletes should be getting a return on the time they put in (H.
Bruinius, personal communication, April 3, 2000)
A Multi Billion Dollar Industry Collegiate Industry
In 2012, the NCAA generated 10.6 billion dollars in revenue; 5.6 billion due to ticket sells and 433
million dollars off of rights agreements but only have ( NCAA College Athletics Statistics, 2012).
Surely the NCAA has enough money to provide a stipend all of the 420,000 student athletes. These
players walk around schools and malls noticing stores selling their jerseys, shirts, and shoes, making
millions off of the merchandise. It is only right that the athletes wonder why they bring in millions to
their university but still do not have a car

Descriptive Essay On Beer
One Friday night, a few of my coworkers went to Stan s Blue Note on Greenville Avenue in Dallas.
This bar had a selection of over 100 bottles of beer. They had a list of the beers. If you wanted, you
were able to register and the bartenders would keep a list of the beers that you drank each time you
visited. After you drank all of the beers on the list, you were given a t shirt that indicated your
achievement. At the time, most of the good beers were imports. That evening, I had Polar from
Venezuela and Dragon Stout from Jamaica. Up until that point, Dragon Stout was the most unique
tasting beer that I had ever tried. At first I laughed that it tasted like a cross between beer and paint. As
I sipped it and savored the flavor, it grew on me. I liked it so much, I ordered a second bottle. The
bartender thought that I was crazy. The bartenders had a microphone behind the bar. They used to
harass male patrons who ordered wine coolers. After I got my second bottle of Dragon Stout, the
bartender grabbed the microphone, pointed at me and laughed that I was one sick man. I went to Stan
s Blue Note only three or four times after that. I did not attempt to get the t shirt. Each time I was
there, I ordered a Dragon Stout. Dragon Stout was the beer that got me interested in beer tasting.
After this, even though I was interested, I did not actively pursue seeking new beers to try. I casually
tried new beers, but I did not make an effort. I did not think of keeping

Chaucer s The Franklin s Tale from the Canterbury Tales
Chaucer s The Franklin s Tale from the Canterbury Tales
The Franklin s Tale, one of the many stories comprising the Canterbury Tales, is one of Chaucer s
most celebrated and most contradictory works. This tale set in medieval Brittany narrates the uncanny
marriage of the knight Arveragus and his lady Dorigen. This unlikely union was based on mutual trust,
love and truthfulness and knew neither the rule of the lady that was typical of courtly love, nor the
domination by the husband that was expected of a traditional marriage. In the controversial scene that
will be discussed here, Arveragus orders Dorigen to give herself to a man to whom she had made the
reckless promise of giving her love if he could accomplish an impossible deed. ... Show more content

In their vows Arveragus and Dorigen constantly refer to each other, as shows the presence of many
pronouns:
He freely gave his promise as a knight
That he would never darken her delight
By exercising his authority
Against her will, or showing jealousy,
[...]
To which Dorigen replies:
God grant there never be betwixt us twain,
Through any fault of mine, dispute or strife.
Sir, I will be your true and humble wife, (Chaucer 337 338)
Trouthe is what the promise is based on but it is not the promise itself. The promise is respect and
truth to each other, obedience but not authority.
Finally, we should also note that Arveragus poses one condition to this agreement: that it should
remain private and that it should never stain his honor.
Save that his sovereignty in name upon her
He should preserve, lest it should shame his honour. (Chaucer 338)
After such an ideal marriage agreement comes the time to try its practicability. Arveragus leaves for
two years of battle and noble deeds and Dorigen waits in worry and despair. So far, the marriage is
safe. No one, not even his wife expected Arveragus to stay home by her side. The rules of knighthood
compelled him to go fight. Derek Brewer, Professor Emeritus of English literature at the University of

The Causes And Effects Of The United States
Imagine strolling to the local grocery store, taking a morning run, or merely gathering the daily mail
wearing a mask as a shield against gassy smog. Think about the terror that strikes some people when
they turn on their faucets only to see a string of tainted, brown solution. Pollution affects thousands of
human individuals, animals, forests, cities, and ecosystems. With shocking effects and staggering
statistics, our water sources, the air we breathe, and the land upon which we live suffer from this
plague. Unfortunately, the causes and effects of this universal dilemma deteriorate the health and well
being of all life forms on earth.
Although land, light, and noise pollution leave their mark on this planet, air and water pollution inflict
even more damage. Across the globe, from Beijing to the U.S. to Africa, we see, and contribute to the
causes of pollution daily. Because of harmful chemicals that waft up to the atmosphere, the ozone
faces depletion. Automobiles and other forms of transportation emit dangerous toxins, along with
putrid, black smoke that spews from the exhaust pipes of large vehicles. Smoke from factories
contributes generously to contamination, as well. Even natural disasters play a momentous role in air
pollution as exhibited by sulfur dioxide, a volcanic gas that kills those who come in contact with it and
leaves soil infertile for years (Pollution). Another substance absolutely necessary to life on earth water
teems with pollutants. Human

  • 2. Poisonwood Tree Symbolism The meaning of the cave isn t lying on the surface of the novel. Rather, it waits somewhere deep, and part of what it requires of us is to bring something of ourselves to the encounter. If we want to figure out what a symbol might mean, we have to use a variety of tools on it: questions, experience, preexisting knowledge (Foster 106 107). This passage is referring to dive deep into thought about what a symbol really stands for. In this case a cave, the cave is more than just an underground chamber inside the Earth. It s a place of our ancestors, of darkness, and of mystery. In the novel A Passage to India, the caves have different meanings for everyone. The Price family moved from small town Bethlehem, GA to the Congo of Africa. Considering they came from a wealthy, normal American town, the Congo would be a very different place to get accustomed to. Father Price thinks the Congo will be a place where he can easily plant crops from back in the US and integrate the idea of farming within the Congo. My Father had been going to the garden alone, every day, to sit and think. It disturbed him that the plants thrived and filled the fenced patch with bloom like a funeral parlor, but would not set fruit...The flowers would open and close, then the green fruits behind them would shrivel and turn brown. There wasn t a single exception. In exchange for our honest sweat, we d so far earned flowers and leaves, but nothing we could actually have for supper (Kingsolver 77 78). Father Price believed that he could do good in the Congo and plant a garden to show the Congolese how to farm and grow crops. This was a mistake because the Congo is so geographically different from Georgia. Also, as Foster puts it you cannot put someone into a complex setting who is normal , and Father Price does fall into that category of normality. The flowers don t bear fruit as a result of the geographical differences, but also may not bear fruit as a result of Father Prices arrogance towards the people of the Congo. He thinks of them as clueless people who can t do anything for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Relational Leadership Model Essay As an ethical and successful leader I believe that one must remember is that you should always considers your followers over yourself. Without them, you are not able to get anything done. You are best able to gage if your being a successful leader if others are willing to follow you to accomplish positive change. If you are always considering others then it is easy to maintain an ethical approach because you make yourself more aware of what could be viewed as unethical within not only your contextual view but also others who think differently then you. The Relational Leadership Model is useful to build the mindset for thinking about others if you focus on the ethical and empowering side of the model (Komives, S. R., Lucas, N., McMahon, T. R, 2013). The way your treat those around you makes an important statement to your leadership style. Over all we do see men and woman in the field of museum work but the way they are treated is vastly different. Male curators will be involved in a more science and research field while women will usually fill the maintenance and care role. These two positions area not equally respected though they both use the title of curator. To maintain a collection is admirable but why collect if no information is obtained. So the woman in these positions are just a stepping stone for a researcher to come in and reap the rewards of intellectual discovery. The difficulties to practicing this form of leadership is that it is impossible to consider every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Class Reflection Essay I went to Ning s informational speech section. The classroom is located room 209 at Williams Building (WMS). It took me a while to find this building because I seldom go to the area around Westcott Fountain. Williams is large compound building that served as lecture halls and classrooms for undergraduate s general education courses. Room 209 is where the public speech class took place. It is a middle size classroom in the corner and next to a lounge area. I saw some of the students rehearsal their informative speech at the lounge when I arrived early and wait for Ning to come. Ning s class has 15 students with varying major background. On the day I visited, most of the students came to class on time. Three students arrived about 5 minutes late, and Ning said she would mark them as late. Ning told me that too many late marks would negatively affect the student s participation final grade. I learned a lot of teaching skills from Ning, such as how to start the class lively, how to organize student s speech and how to claim down students when facing unpredicted things. Ning started her class by showing a video clip of humorous talk show. I think it is an effective way to reduce student s pre performance anxiety. She then overviewed what the class was going to do and gave updates on class assignments. Then, Ning asked volunteer students give the first speech. Others could just step to the front if they felt like they are ready to go. I think this is the best way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Reflection About Relationships In the two years we have been together, my boyfriend, Andy, and I never talked about what we considered cheating to be. This past July, I found out that he had spent the night in his car with one of my closests friends, and his ex girlfriend. I had told him in the past that I was not comfortable with him being out with a girl late at night, but never fully elaborated on it. Realizing that he had done something I wasn t comfortable with, he told me he was up late playing Halo, and kept his outing from me for almost a month. Since we had never laid our boundaries, there were no boundaries to break. Personally, I view cheating as doing something you would not tell your significant other about, but he sees it as having intimate relations with someone other than your significant other. He saw it as him doing something wrong and apologized for it, but felt that it was nowhere near cheating. Our disagreement stems from the differences between our beliefs and expectations for each other. In our relationship, my boyfriend had never done anything for me to lack a sense of trust. He let me know where he was, even when I did not want to know, and always tried his best to keep in contact with me. When it came to me spending time with the opposite sex, he was always comfortable with the idea which is why he thought I felt the same. He had complete trust in me and never minded the time or the place. Growing up, his father had an intimate relationship with another woman, so to him, that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of Martin Luther King s Beyond Vietnam-A Time To... Martin Luther King Jr., one of America s greatest civil rights leaders, was an avid protester of the Vietnam War. Claiming that it is an enemy of the poor, he delivered a powerful speech called Beyond Vietnam A Time to Break Silence at Riverside Church on April 4, 1967. Historically, King s speeches have been known to evoke strong emotional responses from his audience. This speech does not differ; the strong word choice and touching life stories King includes are essential in connecting with the readers. With details and examples, he writes a compelling statement for his cause, including logic while he develops his arguments. These two elements lead to the success of Martin Luther King Jr. s speech. The combination of the two strengthen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps the clearest example of this is in paragraph three. This section covers King s experiences in the ghettos of the North over the last three years. He says that as he walked among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I have told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles. An essential part of his reasoning falls in his counterclaim. While subtle, he includes it in the beginning of the fourth paragraph, quoting the people who asked him: Aren t you a civil rights leader? and thereby mean to exclude me from the movement for peace. By including this statement, King allows for a differing perspective in his work, showing that he understands both sides of the argument. King knows and acknowledges that to many, he seems a hypocrite: someone who claims to be a civil rights leader fighting for equality but also someone who says he wants peace. But by showing the differing sides of public opinion, he demonstrates that he understands the diverse opinions that the readers may hold. It makes the argument seem less biased and instead, more fair, which definitely causes his speech to seem more logical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Evidence For The Lottery The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is about a small village where they have a strange annual tradition. The tradition is a lottery where whoever wins is stoned to death by the other townspeople. Why would they do such a horrible thing to their friends and family members? They started the lottery as a sacrifice for good luck. They wanted good crops for the year and they thought a human sacrifice would help them. But, now most of the people no longer think it helps the crops. Most probably think it s wrong to murder someone just because they lost the lottery, but they are terrified to upset tradition, so they blindly continue the lottery. Evidence for that is on page 22 line 260, where Old Man Warner says the old sayings, Lottery in june, corn be heavy soon. This shows that they thought the lottery would bring them luck. Another piece of evidence is one page 28 line 427. Here, Steve Adams says, Come on, come on, everyone. This indicates that the people need to be riled up and they probably don t want to, but ome people, specifically Old Man Warner, feel they have to. Another quote from Old Man Warner is on page 23 line 268, after hearing some towns are giving up their lottery, he says, Nothing but trouble in that. Pack of crazy fools. This shows that he disapproves of not doing the lottery. It is all he has ever known and it scares him to think that the town could be giving up something from him parents and grandparents generations. This story is about speaking up for up you believe in and to not blindly follow what others in the past have laid down as the norm. • 10. What Is An Unknown Titration Of Hydrochloric Acid The purpose of this experiment is to determine an unknown concentration of acid (hydrochloric acid) with a standard solution of a base (sodium carbonate) using titration method. The hypothesis is; as we know the concentration of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) we can obtain the concentration of hydrochloric acid using the titration of a standard solution. Theoretical Principles behind Titration: Titration is the slow addition of one solution of a known concentration (called a titrant) to a known volume of another solution of unknown concentration until the reaction reaches neutralisation, which is often indicated by a colour change. The solution called the titrant must satisfy the necessary requirements to be a primary or secondary standard. In a broad sense, titration is a technique to determine the concentration of an unknown solution. We can use the reaction to find out the molarity of the solution by measuring the product(s) that is formed. In this experiment, we use a known concentration (Na2CO3) to determine an unknown concentration of acid (HCl). This reaction is neutralisation reaction, which we ll get water and salt as the products. Acid + Base Salt + Water We can use a pH indicator, a chemical that changes colour depending on the pH, to show us when the reaction has completely neutralised. This point, where all acid was consumed and there is no excess of base, is called the equivalence point (end point). We can use this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Parental soft drink consumption was positively associated with younger children s intake in two studies (Grimm et al. 2004; Vereecken et al. 2004). • 12. Cadbury Worldwide Case Study It is interesting to read the article about Cadbury Worldwide. From perspectives of 3 three different cultures. While it might be lucrative to start providing your services, or selling products across your borders, an option should be thought of as real journey of discovering new cultures and customs of different groups of people. It will be useful to understand them and how to do business in their countries. Be aware of the regulation and standards are important. There are two examples of the purchasing Cadbury UK by the American food gain Kraft and how the two work cultures of the American and the British are different. Cadbury is a leader in the UK confectionery market. the interaction between American managers and British managers and workers after purchasing Cadbury by the American owned Kraft is an example how two different cultures may clash with each other. As highlighted by Tarique, Briscoe, and Schuler (2016) that one of the biggest mistakes the HR management of MNE s fall in is navigating through the myriad of local laws and regulations with assumptions that worked in their homeland will work somewhere else. The MNE s should choose the right approaches to deal with employment relations to ensure that will have a healthy work environment and get the desired results. and productivity level. • 14. Changes Of American Society Involving Race Relations Race relations in the United States have, for most of their history, been very rocky. Major changes came about, with the American Revolution and new technology like the cotton gin revolutionising the American economy. A large part of the American South s economy though was built on slave labour, particularly going into the mid 19th century. Ideas of slavery and race changed over this period as new ideas and changes to society came about. In this essay, I will be discussing changes in American society involving race relations, focusing mainly on slavery and societies views of it, beginning in 1785 and ending in 1817. A letter from Thomas Jefferson to his friends in Europe in 1785, gives us an interesting view of how the upper, educated class in the late 18th century saw race relations. In it, he speaks mainly of native people, and how in mind and body they are equal to the white man (8.5). He states that black people are not equal to the white man in body or in mind though, but grudgingly admits that in a few generations, if properly cultivated , could become equal in both mind and body to the white man (8.5). This is an interesting view, because he believes that one day that African Americans could be equal instead of always being inferior. Next is a confession from a slave, whose brother attempted a rebellion which would take out the Governor of Virginia and free the other slaves who lived on plantations nearby. It was discovered when some of the slaves confessed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Modernist and Post modernist in Development Modernism is closely associated with the setting in of modern civilization compared to postmodernism. It is modernism that lay the foundation for postmodernism (Muller 312). After the World War II, the human race achieved what is referred to as postmodernism. The two concepts may appear antagonistic in nature, but a closer look at each reveals how well each complements the other. Art and literature are among the numerous human aspects that have been influenced in diverse ways by the concepts of modernism and post modernism. In this paper, the significance of developmental studies in elaborating the two concepts as the poles of negotiation rather than competing concepts shall be highlighted more so from Miller s school of thought. Modernist concept in enhancing sustained engagement In this case, we realize that modernism always tends to exclude the order and the rationality mainly in politics that come with the movements. It is geared as two poles of negotiation majorly in the context of agreement in that it is geared and motivated towards various masses and people. The use of sore connotes a painful injury. This simile suggests that both a sore and a dream deferred are both injuries that cause excruciating pain to the human body. Towards the end of the book Sir Launcelot, a noble knight that was King Arthur s greatest knight, went to war with King Arthur because of their mutual love for Queen Guinevere, King Arthur s wife. At one point of the dispute, Sir Launcelot requested for a truce between King Arthur s men and his men. After listening to Sir Launcelot s plea, Then King Arthur was deeply moved, thinking of the great courtesy of Launcelot and of all the noble deeds he had done in the past. And in spite of all that Sir Gawain could do he made peace with Launcelot (363). In this moment, King Arthur reached a final decision about the truce and agreed that in return for Launcelot giving Queen Guinevere back, Launcelot would leave until his aid is requested again. The fact that King Arthur saw Launcelot s deeds were noble in spite of his strife with him and Sir Gawain s resistance to the truce shows that King Arthur was able to look past Launcelot s wrong doings in that moment because he knew that Launcelot was a skilled, chivalrous knight. King Arthur had an option to refuse the request for a truce because Launcelot could have been deceiving about the truce but he chose not to. Moreover, the Knight s Code of Chivalry was a system that many knights in the Middle Ages went by and it was a code that King Arthur valued in his knights. This book is written from the past tense as President Obama discusses his lifestyle before he attended Harvard Law school. The book starts with him describing the scenery of his New York apartment which we can assume is either while he is attending or graduated from Columbia College at Columbia University. He describes his family s influence on his life and education. The most influential person to President Obama, from my perspective is his father, Barack Obama, Sr. His father was influential because he too attended Harvard, his impact on Barack seemed more psychological as well because his father wasn t always around as him and Barack s ... He had to learn a lot on his own which made him a stronger person and more independent as he looked for ways to learn and how to adapt to different surroundings especially since he moved around so often. Mr. President also took from his father in intelligence as he states, He arrived at the University of Hawaii as the institutional s first African student (Pg. 9). This tells us that there was some kind of inherited intelligence because multiple African students had applied to the University of Hawaii, but Barack Obama Sr., was the only one to be accepted, and then went on to attend Harvard University for graduate school, one of the most prestigious schools in the nation today. President Obama suffered a good amount in his childhood, but he realized he was different stating, I realized that who I was, what I cared about, was no longer just a matter of intellect or obligation, no longer a construct of words. Keywords component: WSN, network lifetime, fault detection algorithm, node energy consumption, secure routing, communication faults, reliability 1. Introduction The sensor nodes in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are used for surveillance of ambient environment, which can be unpredictable. The sensor nodes are often exposed to harsh surroundings, which could lead to many problems like failure of the sensing unit, radio transceiver, and processors; not just that, also sensor node death occurs due to energy crunch eventually. So it s understood that faults directly affect the network lifetime of a Wireless Sensor Network. Wireless Sensor Network Lifetime means the time period required for the network to function with the collective effort of sensors even if some of the nodes have failed. When this percentage of failed nodes increases, fault prevention and avoidance strategies are needed to be applied to improve reliability and performance of the network. A reliable WSN yields accurate results. For fault tolerance in WSN, maintenance of a consistent quality of service (QoS) is necessary. Also energy efficiency comes into picture, which is a difficult task to achieve. There are also some software failures related to the operating system or embedded programs in the sensor. WSN has a tolerance level that defines the capacity it would have to deal with the various faults of the sensors. The degree of tolerance depends on the three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first, the Jews just thought they were protecting them from the war, but over time they realized what was happening. Hitler was convincing the Germans to kill the Jews, and because Hitler was persuasive, they listened. He persuaded many Germans, made them act horribly and inhumane towards Jews, and feared the Jews forever. How did Hitler persuade the German people and government to construct a legal system or mass murder? To start off, Hitler is considered to be ranked high among the most evil men in the entire history of mankind (ww2bd.com). Because he was ranked among the evilest people in history, he must have also been one of the scariest, and that is why the Germans followed him. They know that deep down no one really cares, but they want people to know they re suffering damn it, and others will go along with it, making faces hoping someone will notice, so that when something awful happens to them, they can get some of this fake pity for themselves. The final buzzer sound that communicates to each act to perform simultaneously, debuts two shots edited together that alternates between each performing country, similar to a conversation. Each country is at each other s necks, communicated and intensified by the shot/reverse shot of which country is truly performing the saddest music. Nonetheless, Soviet montage editing does triumph, as the music during these scenes correlates with the editing of the image, revealing the rhythmic aspect of it. I explain the situation to the readers that do not have much background knowledge of the topic. I go on to say that Division 1 players should be paid because they do not have much money to buy necessities. The NCAA does not allow players to get jobs due to the workload required for their particular sport. The athletes also cannot sell their items or autographed items for revenue. After you drank all of the beers on the list, you were given a t shirt that indicated your achievement. At the time, most of the good beers were imports. That evening, I had Polar from Venezuela and Dragon Stout from Jamaica. Up until that point, Dragon Stout was the most unique tasting beer that I had ever tried. At first I laughed that it tasted like a cross between beer and paint. As I sipped it and savored the flavor, it grew on me. I liked it so much, I ordered a second bottle. Chaucer s The Franklin s Tale from the Canterbury Tales Chaucer s The Franklin s Tale from the Canterbury Tales The Franklin s Tale, one of the many stories comprising the Canterbury Tales, is one of Chaucer s most celebrated and most contradictory works. This tale set in medieval Brittany narrates the uncanny marriage of the knight Arveragus and his lady Dorigen. This unlikely union was based on mutual trust, love and truthfulness and knew neither the rule of the lady that was typical of courtly love, nor the domination by the husband that was expected of a traditional marriage. In the controversial scene that will be discussed here, Arveragus orders Dorigen to give herself to a man to whom she had made the reckless promise of giving her love if he could accomplish an impossible deed. ... In their vows Arveragus and Dorigen constantly refer to each other, as shows the presence of many pronouns: He freely gave his promise as a knight That he would never darken her delight By exercising his authority Against her will, or showing jealousy, [...] To which Dorigen replies: God grant there never be betwixt us twain, Through any fault of mine, dispute or strife. Sir, I will be your true and humble wife, (Chaucer 337 338) Trouthe is what the promise is based on but it is not the promise itself. The promise is respect and truth to each other, obedience but not authority. Finally, we should also note that Arveragus poses one condition to this agreement: that it should remain private and that it should never stain his honor. Save that his sovereignty in name upon her He should preserve, lest it should shame his honour. (Chaucer 338) After such an ideal marriage agreement comes the time to try its practicability. Arveragus leaves for two years of battle and noble deeds and Dorigen waits in worry and despair. So far, the marriage is safe. No one, not even his wife expected Arveragus to stay home by her side.
