Video Game Violence And Its Effects On Gamers
Video Game Violence and its effects on Gamers In recent years there has been a significant increase of
shooting incidents, specifically in America. When there is a shooting event the media is quick to
question if the suspect had a history of playing violent video games. There is already the initial
connection between video game violence and aggression; but is this connection scientifically correct?
This topic interests me because of the increase in school shootings and violence. I have personally
heard many times that video game violence has led to many adolescents to extreme forms of violence.
Through what has been said in the media I decided to research the topic myself. This is a current event
issue that is a present reality for many college students. Does video game violence directly relate to
human violence? Does video game violence effect aggression? Does technological advances and
violent content effect humans and their aggression? Does violent video games cause hostel thoughts?
While researching the connection between video game violence and violence in children I came across
communication theories that can help us understand how these two connect and effect people. From
the text, Broadcasting, Cable, the Internet, and Beyond: An Introduction to Modern Electronic Media
there was research done to settle a debate coming from research done in the early 60 s. The second
round of research results came with two conflicting theories. Catharsis theory and stimulation

The Narrative Techniques Used by Hitchcock in Rear Window...
The Narrative Techniques Used by Hitchcock in Rear Window
L.B. Jeffries is a high class magazine photographer for what seems to be a worldwide publication. In
Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window , he is a temporarily wheelchair bound man and his voyeuristic side
appears later on in the film.
Rear Window depicts a 20th century New York in which fraudsters, murderers and salesmen all live
alongside each other. The story describes a man who broke his leg during a photography assignment.
He is, for the time being, stuck in a wheelchair with nothing to do but look at the neighbours through
his Rear Window . He hasn t seen the light of day since seven weeks ago.
Rear Window is one of Alfred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also shows that it is the start of the story. The window fills the whole frame of the shot. This is a
good way of setting the scene for the viewers. Old style joyous jazz music is played at the start a good
way of portraying happy times. The opening scene in Rear Window has no dialogue, leaving even
more of the viewers in a pool of anticipation. The scene highlights the fact that every single thing in
the film will be seen through that particular window.
Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window is a great example of first rate camerawork. The camera is used as
the narrator and probably plays the biggest role within the film. At the start of the film, the camera is
used to pan around every single apartment within the inner city New York apartment block to
introduce the characters. Although the characters do not speak, they still play a major role in the film.
Alfred Hitchcock puts the viewers in the position of L.B Jeffries, making us all voyeurs. The camera is
used to tell the story, as there is very little dialogue in the film. Throughout nearly all of the film, only
one shot is used to tell the story, there are very few cuts. By doing it this way, Hitchcock is showing us
exactly what the character is seeing.
The cast of Rear Window includes Jimmy Stewart, the lovely Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter, and

The Pros And Cons Of Violence
Violence is all around us, and sometimes it s right in front of you. The violence in my life is in front of
me. This violence isn t physical, but instead verbal and through social media s. The violence happens
at my lunch table and online like Instagram or texting.
I think violence is wrong and hurtful because it can make people cry or think badly of themselves. I
have seen some of my friends cry, and I do my best to help them and tell them that the person being
rude to them is insecure. The situation was, let s call her X, got mad at my friend and started texting
her long and hateful texts. I do think it s wrong, because when they say I was just upset or I was
joking it can affect the victim s life. They could have taken it serious and hurt themselves. The girl
doing this is extremely rude to others when she does not get her way or misunderstands. Anyone who
tries to stand up to her is shot down. I think that she is rude to others, because I don t think she is very
secure of herself. The verbal violence at my lunch table is towards my group of friends, and has
affected their lives by splitting from our group and becoming distant. It s also affected my life because
of the constant drama and fighting. My best friend has shown me all the hateful texts that X has sent,
and it is truly shocking. Later she X apologized, but she still continues to be set off by the smallest
things. To stop X, I could explain to her what she is doing is wrong and that she needs to stop.

The Size Of An Organism
AC 2.1
1) When the size of an organism increases its surface area also increases.
2) When the size of an organism increases its volume also increases.
3) As the size of an organism increases both its surface area and volume increase however the surface
area to volume ratio decreases. This is because the volume increases at a greater rate than the surface
area. Organisms with a smaller surface area to volume ratio can exchange substance more easily
compared with bigger organisms, which require more specialised systems. Having a large surface are
to volume ratio enables the organism to heat up more quickly however they do not retain the heat
compared with organisms with a small surface area.
4) Bacteria and Amoeba
Small organisms such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bacteria have adapted to digest large micro nutrients by secreting enzymes that break down micro
nutrients, for example the enzymes break down proteins into amino acids so that they can be absorbed
into the cell.
Amoebas are larger than bacteria and are approximately 100µm in diameter but still have a relatively
large surface area to volume ratio. Amoebas, unlike bacteria, do not secrete enzymes externally to
digest food, instead they extend their cytoplasm and around the nutrients and then break it down
within the cell. Figure 1 shows the nutrition of an amoeba. Figure 1
Microorganisms can heat up quickly but cannot retain heat well compared with larger organisms. This
is because they have large surface area to volume ratio, so heat escapes easily.
Flies
Larger organisms have adapted to overcome limitations what occur in more simpler organisms, by
developing more complex systems to exchange substances and retain heat. Multicellular organisms
rely on many different cells that are specialised to perform different tasks, however they all work
together in order for the organism to function. When cells are produced they have the potential to
specialise as any type of cell for example a nerve cell or tissue cell depending on the requirements of
the organism. This process is called cell differentiation and enables organisms to have more complex
systems.

The Music Of The Hippies
The hippies were determined to create art of the people, and their chosen art form, rock/folk music,
was by its definition populist. One main theme the music of the hippies was that it was often filled
with anger, anger directed at those who would abuse the Constitution for their benefit, who would sell
America out and betray all She stands for in other words, their parents and government. Many people
claimed the hippies were un American and disrespected and ridiculed patriotism, but in fact they had a
great respect for America and believed themselves to be true patriots. They refused to let America be
less than it could be, demanding that it should live up to its potential, that it should shine like a beacon
to the world as our founding forefathers had intended. Hair reflects this more genuine form of tough
love patriotism in many scenes, most notably in the song Don t Put it Down. This song shows a unique
dichotomy between true patriotism and symbolic patriotism. More importantly, it makes the emphatic
point that there is more than one way to be patriotic. In the original staging of the song, two of the
singers folded the American flag in proper military fashion as they sang, demonstrating that they do
respect this symbol of their country. The other side of the song takes the title literally, laughing at the
idea that the flag can never touch the ground. In this way, the song suggests that perhaps those self
proclaimed patriots who wanted flag burners and hippie

Greed In The Necklace
There are many moral issues in society. Though not many people realize it, acts like selfishness and
greed affect people in major ways. Throughout history greed has been a huge problem, as displayed in
The Necklace many people live wanting to be accepted into society, although the bible is against greed
and selfishness it is still an ongoing issue in society.
The short story The Necklace portrays greed and selfishness through the life of Mathlide Loisel. This
story was written in the 1800 s in Paris, which is also believed to be when the story takes place. Life in
Paris during this time was all about your rank and where you stood in society. This want for
acceptance made many people desire unnecessary things, leading to more greed and envy for others.
Much like the author of The Necklace Alfred, Lord ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She expressed greedy and selfish behavior leading her to great pain and suffering. Throughout the
story she was selfish and did not consider how her husband felt. She was too busy trying to figure out
why she couldn t have everything she wanted as she was living in self pity. Mathlide Loisel was angry,
unhappy, and humiliated. She was distressed at the poverty of her dwelling (Maupassant p1). She was
not happy with her life and everything that she was provided, she felt as though it was not enough.
Many men and women felt the same way as Mathlide. Guy de Maupassant lived from 1850 1893. He
was in Paris when he was born and when he died. Maupassant also lived most of his life in Paris.
While he lived there he got inspiration for many stories. Maupassant was very aware of what was
going on in Paris during the time he wrote The Necklace. His stories strikingly captured various
aspects of day to day life in France during that time (Bio. Maupassant ¶1). Most of what he wrote was
based off of real events making the story a reality. He knew of the moral issues at the time and he

Analysis Of Letter From A Birmingham Jail
Dyeing Courage
Seas of glass varying in shape, size, and hue work together to form a stunning mosaic of the broken,
working as one. Radiating above its inexorable admirer, the fluid contrast in such intoxicating
amounts hypnotizes the soul permanently leaving shards of 1960. Such a piece represents the
corruption embedded in history that afflicted the black community. Exploiting the rhetoric of
appealing to reason, allusion, and anthesis, Dr. King stained his proclamation of civil inequality with
these devices in his renowned, Letter from a Birmingham Jail .
King s purposeful use of appealing to reason gave him an upper hand throughout his piece, Letter
from a Birmingham Jail and established security in his statements. Taking ethos into consideration
from Martin Luther King s text, we saw why he presented himself in such a formal manner. I have the
honor of serving as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization
operating in every southern state, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia (Paragraph 2, Letter from a
Birmingham Jail ). By using this appeal to credibility, King earned his audience s respect and
varnished his message. Connecting to his readers, Martin Luther King also utilized pathos throughout
his letter to add just another foothold on his audience. But since I feel that you are men of genuine
good will and that your criticisms are sincerely set forth, I want to try to answer your statement in

Sassy Fox Website Analysis
Design
Even if a website has good information architecture and content, poor design can take away from the
two elements and negatively affect the usability of the site. According to Johnson, successful web
design is minimalistic and easily readable with font choices and color palettes (39). The design of
Sassy Fox s website is either extremely busy and misleads users or is minimalistic to a fault. Examples
of these extremes are the website s header and user forms.
One very distracting element of the Sassy Fox website is the header image that takes up half of the
screen. In chapter six, Johnson addresses busy backgrounds saying, visual noise in and around text can
disrupt recognition of features, characters, and words, and therefore drop reading ... Show more

Users are pulled to areas that are graphic heavy, but have no purpose. While features like the gift
certificate form are unusable because they are so underdeveloped. In my opinion, the website would
benefit from changing the Sassy Fox logo to plain text, removing all background images, and using
fonts that are visible and have good contrast. The forms are better left simple, but the field box
definitely need to be closer to its correlating text.
Conclusion:
In this analysis, I only covered a few out of the many problems that that hurt the usability of Sassy
Fox s website. If I had to give it a grade, it would be the lowest one possible because overall the
website is incomplete. Navigating the website is a grid that leads to nowhere, there is no real content,
and the design choices are visually overwhelming. Sassyfox.com is absolutely not a functional
webstore by any means and should definitely be unpublished. I honestly wonder if making it public
was a mistake. There are no good things about this

The Significance of Tickle in Troilus and Cressida Essay
William Shakespeare s Troilus and Cressida is a play filled with marked variations of tone. The
language ranges across the gamut from satirical to anticlimactic to dignified to tragic. This explains, to
some extent, the level of difficulty that commentators have had in classifying the work. A close
reading of the word choice and sense of tone in the play contributes a great deal to a better
understanding of its meaning. Analysis of particular word choice should be, in fact, a very important
consideration when attempting to understand Shakespeare s works. He is known to often make use of
neologisms and his style thus reveals a familiarity with the intricate emotional weight that diction
brings to literature. Whenever relatively obscure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
20): Now expectation, tickling skittish spirits, On one and other side, Trojan and Greek, Sets all on
hazard (Pro. 20 23) Expectation tickling skittish spirits eloquently captures the feeling of the armies
during the time of truce that is the setting of the play as well as those of the lovers who lend their
name to the title. At the same time, the phrase provides a marked contrast to the tone of all the lines
that precede it. This showcases the contrastive power that tone can bring to a piece of literature and
helps to set the mood of the play, which is neither a comedy nor a tragedy but maintains interwoven
elements of both. Expectation doesn t rouse or provoke the men s spirits, words that might be expected
with the harsh tone of the prologue, it merely tickles them. In addition, the phrase as a whole
introduces the sexualized tone that dominates many passages in the play. According to the OED,
skittish describes a disposition characterized by levity, frivolity, or excessive liveliness. It also carries
the meaning, more familiar in contemporary usage as it is applied to horses of a nervous or restive
disposition. Due to the fact that the horse is a classic image of sexuality it is interesting to note that
there are a number of instances in Shakespeare s time (as Gordon Williams explores in his Dictionary
of Sexual Language and Imagery in Shakespeare) of women described as skittish in

multiple life lessons that Nifty Lance covers in his writing about in 11 Content Lessons I Learned

The Cliffs of Insanity were famous for no one being able to climb to the top of them because they
were so high up. Buttercup did not understand. Going up the Cliffs could hardly be done, she thought
(Goldman 109). But Fezzik and Westley were able to prove multiple people wrong about how
impossible it was to climb the Cliffs, but Fezzik was even able to climb the Cliffs while he was
carrying three people. The Spaniard lifted Buttercup and draped her body around the Turk s shoulders.
Then he tied himself to the Turk s waist. Then the Sicilian hopped, clung to the Turks necks.
(Goldman 112). Westley was capable of crossing the Fire Swamp with Buttercup to escape along with
him climbing The Cliffs of Insanity. Comparable to The Cliffs of Insanity no one has ever been able to

such as Do that one more time, you re going to the Fire Swamp. (Goldman 200) Both of them had to

My Interview with a Jewish Friend Essay examples

religions, Judaism began as the faith of the ancient Hebrews, and its sacred text is the Hebrew Bible,
particularly the Torah. Fundamental to Judaism is the belief that the people of Israel are God s chosen
people, who must serve as a light for other nations. God made a covenant first with Abraham, then
renewed it with Isaac, Jacob, and Moses. The worship of Yahweh (God) was centered in Jerusalem
from the time of David.

3. What different methods of worship does your religion practice?
Answer: Traditionally, Jews use certain rituals on a daily basis, too. Some of these are: putting on the
Tallit (a prayer shawl) and Tefillin (phylacteries, which are small leather boxes containing verses from
the Bible that remind Jews of their duties one worn on the forehead and one on the arm), praying three
times a day, and keeping the dietary laws called Kashrut.
4. Is there a particular day you practice these methods of worship?
Answer: Yes of course. Jews have long revered Shabbat, the Sabbath, as a taste of the world to come,
a time of rest, of peace, and of contentment. From sundown on Friday night until sundown on
Saturday night, observant Jews set aside time to pray and study a day to refrain from work and
everyday cares.
5. What is your place of worship called?
6. What are the important holidays and traditions of this religion?
Answer: Yes a few are: the high holy days, sukkot, hannukkah, pesach, the omer period, Shavuot, and
tishah.
7. How has religion shaped your life?
Answer: Of course it has. Being Jewish is what I am. I was raised this way, left this way of life and
came back. I love being the Jewish man I am.

Declaration of Sentiments allows women to have freedom and rights, before they were trapped by

to write but her husband will not allow to do the things she loves. The character feels very depressed,
lonely, and trapped. Similarly to the Story of an Hour, the woman is depressed and felt captivated by
her husband also. She is so unbearably happy when she thinks her husband died, because she can

people will unlikely pay for a luxury service such as this. People with low discretionary income will

this method of obtaining good wholesome food. Also, many people in the Toronto area do not own a

Using material from item A and elsewhere assess the view that social class differences in educational

This can affect those less able because it foes against the main stream. This is backed up by Gilbourn
and Youdell have examined the role of educational policies in creating the context for such school
processes to take place (Item A) Gilbourn and Youdell shows how teachers notions of ability conclude
to their decisions of which pupils have the potential to achieve 5A* C grade gcse s. Neil Keddie then
argues that the more intelligent students get taught more complex and advanced information and
methods while the students in the lower sets are not recognised and being left behind. However
Rosenthal and Jacobson performed an experiment where they picked random students from the class
who were also working class and told teachers they are able to improve, this later resulted in teachers
spending more time with these selected students which made them improve and achieve better.

Others may feel that America will never accept people of color as equals and thus, may prefer to live

society is and has been experiencing numerous changes that deal with the issues of the Asian

a racial barrier on Asian immigrants seeking United States citizenship; (2) federal immigration laws
limiting migration from Asian and Pacific Island countries; (3) state and local laws discriminating

The Pros And Cons Of Cartoons
If a worldwide phenomenon is defined as an occurrence that is reaching throughout the world, then it
would be reasonably logical to conclude that the consumption of animated cartoon shows are indeed, a
worldwide phenomenon. Since 1960s, cartoons have provided numerous generations of children with
a type of entertainment that filled their little minds with fantasy and imagination. Cartoons may have
started out as an entertainment for children. However, the world today sees different genres of

exclusive to children. The Children: As a matter of fact, we all loved cartoons as a child. Cartoons

However, since this group of audiences is at the stage of learning more complex knowledge that may
be tedious to infuse into entertainment based animated shows, the scriptwriters would rather leave the
academic teachings to the schools. Instead, cartoons of this genre are evidently focused on delivering
moral values and encouraging friendships and family cohesiveness. Plots for these cartoon shows
might feature the characters going through some distressing troubles or difficulties; however, things
always turn out right in the end. SpongeBob Squarepants , a long run cartoon series from the 90s
featuring SpongeBob the yellow sponge and his starfish best friend Patrick, has been undoubtedly
successful in imparting valuable lessons on friendship and altruism in the minds of teenagers. For
example, SpongeBob has always been portrayed as being very giving and selfless to Patrick who
might sometimes seems brainless and naive; Patrick, on the other hand, though usually emotionless,
becomes very sad when SpongeBob befalls some unfortunate fate, and always attempts to help him at
his best efforts. Cartoons for the young adults may also adopt a more lenient language style,
permitting the use of trending slangs and everyday phrases such as what s up or aww man which are
otherwise fended off by the scriptwriters of a children s

Importance Of English In Kenya
Most people who think of English will agree that it is one of the most diverse forms of
communication. A hybrid made of various words and phrases from other cultures, it is commonly
considered a lingua franca and is used to bring those various cultures together. But in some ~ cases,
English is not being used to bring the people together, but rather deliberately split them apart. Such a
case has been occurring in Kenya, where the usage of English has become an underhanded tool to
partition the power between the elites and the commoners.
Kenya is an Outer Circle country, which means that the use of English is the result of colonization and
has become ingrained in society and daily life as an important function. In Kenya s case, English was

Charles Darwin Lab Report
Charles Darwin, a naturalist born in 1809 England, traveled around the world on the HMS Beagle
from 1831 1836 (Desmond). He made observations on land for three out of the five years he traveled
around the world; his most significant findings were recorded on the Galápagos Islands. The most
crucial evidence of evolution, a theory that Darwin is known for, consist of the different species of
Galapagos tortoises and finches that Darwin observed. He noticed that depending on the different
islands similar finches had different variations of beak size and shape. To add, he observed that the
tortoise s shell shape and neck length varied based on which island they resided on. Darwin made the
observation that depending on each island, which had different ... Show more content on

Charles Lyell discovered that process that affect the Earth are constant and observable. He also
discovered that these past process that change the Earth are the same ones occurring in the present.
Darwin applied these theories to his work to explain the biological change overtime. James Hutton
found evidence that the Earth changes slow and is 4.5 billion years. In 1785, when Hutton discovered
this, many people had originally thought the Earth did not change and was much younger. This
provided Darwin with evidence that if Earth can evolve so can living things. Lastley, Thomas Malthus
found that the more a population grows and reproduces the bigger the population comes. This leads to
competition of survival, means than there is less food for the whole population. Therefore the
organism compete to survive, reproduce, and find food. Darwin applied this population growth theory
to his ideas of population limits to plants and animals

What Are the Possible Effects on Performance When a...
What are the possible effects on performance when a performer enters a major competition with a high
level of anxiety? Discuss the strategies and techniques the performer may use to manage anxiety in the
build up to the competition.
Anxiety is the negative aspect of experiencing stress. Anxiety is the worry and unpleasant feeling
experienced because of the fear or possibility of failure.
Anxiety is seen to cause a negative impact on performance especially when levels are high. Anxiety
can cause many side effects. These effects of anxiety are split into two categories: Cognitive and
somatic anxiety. Cognitive anxiety is the thoughts, nervousness, apprehension or worry that a
performer has about their lack of ability to complete a task ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Here the performer is monitored electronically on any physiological variables such as heart rate and
sweating (using a galvanic skin response). Once these levels rise because of anxiety then the
performer will think of pleasant thoughts to then reduce anxiety.
The performer can also use breathing control to reduce anxiety. This involves diaphragmatic breathing
(breathing deeply) as a means of focusing on relaxation.
Another somatic technique similar to breathing control is centering. Here the performer focuses on the
rate of breathing and maintaining a slow, steady pace. These both keep you more focused and help to
avoid any possible distractions.
The final somatic technique that can be used is progressive muscular relaxation. Here you tense your
muscles one by one for a few seconds from head to toe. This then leaves each muscle more relaxed
than normal helping to reduce anxiety levels and its effects.
The majority of these techniques, both cognitive and somatic must be practiced and learnt in training
in order for them to become effective when competing.
A performer can also use Goal setting to manage their anxiety levels. By using the SMARTER
principle of goal setting the performer will set realistic and achievable goals. This will then provide a
direction of efforts for the performer. As a result; selective attention will improve, motivation levels
will increase, task persistence will increase and self confidence will

Plate tectonics is the scientific theory that attempts to explain the movements of the Earth s
lithosphere that have formed the landscape features we see across the globe today (Briney). Geology
defines plate as a large slab of solid rock, and tectonics is part of the Greek root word for to build.
Together the words define how the Earth s surface is built up of moving plates. The theory of plate
tectonics dictates that individual plates, broken down into large and small sections of rock, form Earth
s lithosphere. These fragmented bodies of rock move along each other atop the Earth s liquid lower
mantle to create the plate boundaries that have shaped Earth s landscape. Plate tectonics originated
from meteorologist Alfred Wegener s theory, developed in the early 20th century. In 1912, he realized
that the east coast of South America and the west coast of Africa appeared to piece together like a
jigsaw puzzle. He further examined the globe and deduced that all of Earth s continents could
somehow be assembled together and proposed the idea that the continents had once been linked in a
single supercontinent called Pangaea. To explain today s position of the continents, Wegener theorized
that they began to drift apart approximately 300 million years ago. This theory

Christians Should Study Greek Philosophy
Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been many different ideas on how a Christian
should interact with the world in which they lived. From the biblical writings of The Gospel according
to Matthew, and The Acts of the Apostles, to the non biblical writings of On Philosophy, and The
Prescription Against Heretics, the ideas of Christianity were brought together. The two non biblical
documents highlight the arguments of whether or not Christians should study Greek philosophy. The
books from The Bible showed that Christian beliefs focused on how one should primarily seek their
ultimate reward or satisfaction in the Kingdom of God (spiritual), rather than in the here and now
(temporal). Christianity, as it began, was a faith that emphasized the importance of acting charitable
towards the less fortunate, while understanding that it was ones duty to worship God and spread that
love for Him to those who didn t believe. In the Gospel According to Matthew, Jesus said, Blessed are
the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus said this, he showed how the Kingdom of
Heaven was welcomed for anybody, not only those who were more fortunate than others. Jesus then
went on to explain how those who were humble and those who showed righteousness would enter the
Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus also told the people how they should spread his word everywhere and
teach those to examine all the things He commanded them. In The Great Commission speech, Jesus
inspired His

How Did Oda Nobunaga s Contribution To The Reunification...
From the mid fifteenth to the late sixteenth century, Japan was in a period of warring states. Oda
Nobunaga, a prominent warlord was the first to begin the reunification of Japan. He was a man who
had no qualms about killing his enemies. In one of his letters, he boasted about his executions. In one
town, Nobunaga s men took as many as one and a half thousand heads, and in the envious we took in
all two thousand more (Theodore de Bary 448). Despite his violet nature, Nobunaga was also
economically conscious. During his campaign, he abolished toll barriers as they hindered commerce
and encouraged free markets (Butler 312). After his assassination, Toyotomi Hideyoshi picked up the
torch and continued to unite country. He created an early version of the class system separating the
farmers from the warriors, and it was enforced through a sword hunt. Farmers were prevented from
owning weapons such as swords and guns. The sword hunt also served as a method to reduce villager
rebellions and to freeze movement between social classes (Butler 313). After Hideyoshi s death, there

Muhammad Ali Is NOT a Hero Essay
Muhammad Ali Is NOT a Hero
To be a hero, someone could save others, respect their country, and care. The firefighters from the Fire
Department of New York have all of these characteristics, even thought they aren t perfect. Everyday,
they risk their lives to save others. They show their patriotism even on the trucks they drive through
the cities. Most of all they don t just do it because it s their job; they do it because they care. Unlike
the people at FDNY, Muhammad Ali is violent, separatist, and rude.
The first reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is violent. For almost all of his life he
fought in boxing matches that all started when he was a boy because he wanted to beat up the kid who

The second reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is he was a separatist who did not respect his country.
He became part of the Nation of Islam. They believed Blacks should break off from other Americans.
Also, in April 1967, Ali refused induction into the U.S. Army, claiming exempt status as a Muslim
minister (Abeles). When asked why he dodged the draft, Ali replied, I ain t got no quarrel with them
Viet Cong, no Viet Cong ever called me n (Biography.com). Because his separatist beliefs and actions,
Muhammad Ali did not show respect for his country.
The third reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is rude. He would always taunt his
opponents. Before one of his matches, he taunted Liston calling him the bear and verbally defused the
famous stare as being just plain ugly (Myers 46). When Ali fought George Foreman in Zaire, he had
the Africans chant Ali bumbaye which means Ali kill him (When). Some sportswriters were against
Ali for this reason. Only a rude man like Muhammad Ali would do and say these things.
Because of his violence, rudeness, and separatist beliefs, Muhammad Ali in no way compares to the
men at the Fire Department of New York. While they have saved lives, Muhammad Ali has just beaten
people up. Spiderman is another example of a hero; he saved lives, respected his country, and cared
for the people he was saving. FDNY is just as good as Spiderman,

Martin Lina Quotes From The Villain
Being called a monster. Being seemed as a troublemaker. Being alienated by his friends. Being
betrayed and hunted by his homies. Violence, hatred, revenge. There are so much things that a sixteen
year old boy could bear without turning into a gangbanger who always gets in trouble at school for
fighting with others and doesn t care about the consequences. That s Martin Luna: the protagonist of
The Fallen that is written by Paul Langan. After his little brother, Heuro, was killed in a gun violence
as a resulted in Frankie confliction with other gang, Martin Luna seeks for revenge. It seems like
nothing can stops Martin, only until he realizes that revenge is not good solution for hatred, which is
also a theme that the Paul Langan shows in the novel The Fallen by using protagonist: Martin Luna.
First of all, Paul Langan uses protagonist, Martin, to show that revenge can t help Martin feels better
after Heuro s death. For example, on page 129, after all the torment Martin has for himself, he decides,
No matter what, my mother and I finally had answers. We d finally have peace. This quote shows that

This quote demonstrates that Heuro s death is not used to worsen Martin s life, but rather to give he
and his mom a chance to change. It s a chance to get rid of the ugly past. It s a chance for him to reach
to the sky without burden of violence. It s a chance to start a new life with neither hatred nor fear.
Overall, hatred does not cease by revenge, but only by

Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Poem There s A Certain...
A poem s structure can either make or break it. Emily Dickinson skillfully incorporates a variety of
different methods in her works to enhance their meanings. At first glance her poetry can seem
confusing, but simply analyzing at how she structures her poems can give great insight to what she
means. Looking at whether each line of the poem ends without punctuation, also known as
enjambment can reveal a great deal about a poem. The use of enjambment and end stops control the
flow of the poem. Along with em dashes, one of Dickinson s specialties, these techniques allow for an
even deeper interpretation of her poetry. She uses dashes to connect words and phrases, that seemingly
have no relation, together. In Dickinson s poem There s a certain Slant of light, these devices
significantly add to meaning behind the writing. Emily Dickinson s masterful use of enjambment,
dashes and end stops immensely add to the meaning of the slant of light, the main topic of the poem.
The first stanza introduces the main topic of the poem, the winter slant of light:
There s a certain Slant of light,
Winter Afternoons
That oppresses, like the Heft
Of Cathedral Tunes
Upon first glance the reader may admire the winter light. However, it becomes increasingly clear as
the poem progresses that there a more sinister meaning may lie behind it. There s a certain Slant of
light , not only refers to the specific type of light on these winter afternoons, but certain also refers to
that the light

Social Factors That Influence The Patient Doctor Relationship
Social Factors in Health 1: Name five social factors that influence the Patient Doctor Relationship?
There are many social factors that can impact on the Doctor Patient relationships everything from race
to gender. To break it down and find five, I started with Doctors personal views he is under pressure to
be ethical when he may not entirely be accepting of a person s beliefs or sexuality. For instance a
doctor may be homophobic and have a patient attend surgery asking for advice on practicing safe sex
and being HIV aware. Following on from this may be a patients confidence in doctors due to race for
example a person who has racist issues would not feel comfortable attending a foreign doctors surgery.
To find a third I would have to say gender being a female I tend to talk easier to a female doctor,
which persists problems as my female doctor only works three days a week so I put off going to see
the male doctor so therefore remain ill longer. My fourth factor is age, as the doctor could be old and
the patient adolescent. This would impact on different generations living different lifestyles and
changing societies. Adolescence is indeed a tempestuous period , (Thorne, B Lambers.1998). Finally I
find language barriers a major social factor as if you can t understand what your doctor is saying to
you it has complications in treatment and there is not always a translator available. 2: Discuss how

The Baroque Period Of The Baroque And Classical Period
At this time last year, I would have considered all music before the 20th century to be classical.
However, after taking a Dual Credit Music Appreciation course, I realized that old music cannot
simply be grouped into a single category. There are so many differences that I had no idea existed.
Throughout the years, music has changed and evolved, meeting the needs of listeners and performers.
Different composers have been catalysts in this change as they have developed new styles and genres.
Even though the classical period is directly subsequent of the baroque period, baroque and classical
music have countless different qualities and characteristics. The baroque period of music commenced
in the year 1600 and ended around 1750 (Fuller Baroque ). Its texture was mainly polyphonic (Fuller
Classical ). Polyphonic means that two or more different melodies are played simultaneously
(McComb). This provides an energetic rhythm, long melodies, and many ornaments. The most famous
composers of this time period were Vivaldi, Corelli, Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, J.S. Bach, and
Couperin. Many new styles of music were introduced, such as operas, sonatas, oratorios, suites,
fugues, and concertos. Orchestras began to develop, but it was not until the classical period when
orchestral music was perfected (Fuller Baroque ). In 1750, the classical period of music started, and it
terminated in 1810. The texture was primarily homophonic (Fuller Classical ), which means there is

Words and Music: Narrative Ambiguity In Sonny s Blues . Studies In Short Fiction 19.4 (1982): 367.
Academic Search Complete. Web. 4 July 2015.
Based on Byerman Sonny Blues is story which study s the nature and relationship between language
and art. He opposes critics who note that Sonny Blues is about Sonny or the narrator s individual
experiences. The story uses code deciphered language to bring out the story s theme, resolution. The
story is about the use of misreadings which is illustrated through the use of metaphoric and
rationalistic language. The figurative languages are used to display his literary intelligence. Byertman
suggests that Baldwin uses dialectic style through ambiguity and allusion to link the relationship
between art and life. Art is embraced to create deceit and anarchy in the story than to bring out order
and understanding. Sonny Blues is a direct representation of a boy s development into adulthood at the
Harlem ghetto where one can easily develop into a cunning character. It is about how a man tries to
find his own identity in musical career in the hostile society which later on attracts fatal relations both
to his community and to himself. I learned that figurative language can be used creatively to express
the day to day situations and ideas in a culturally sensitive

Neo Liberalism And Its Impact On Society
Introduction
There is a heated debate on this concept during the past 20 years and is somewhat named as
exhortation. Many authors have tried to describe this concept and related it with the spread of
capitalism and along with a proactive welfare state. The concept of neo liberalism basically revived
from liberalism. By this it can be suggested that liberalism was absent from politics in order to emerge
in a new form. Neo liberalism is not basically a distinct ideology and a not proper form of liberalism.
It shares only some of the historic views with liberalism which would be general. Another concept
which is introduced is economic liberalism. It is defined as that the states do not intervene in the
matters related to economy rather on the individuals. Economic liberalism and neoliberalism are
separate entities from liberalism. In oxford English dictionary describes economic liberalism as,
Favorable to constitutional changes and legal or administrative reforms tending in the direction of
freedom or democracy.
It also describes neo liberalism as, A modified and revived form of traditional liberalism one based on
the belief in free market capitalism and the rights of the individuals.
Liberalism
Liberalism was an important concept but it also lost some of its importance in order to emerge as a
new form. In the today s world hardly any one speaks for the freedom and democracy

The Effect Of Heavy Metals On Groundwater
Shereen Bahadori Toolabi
Literature Review Assignment
The Effect Heavy Metals has on Groundwater
Introduction
Water is a major resource human s need for survival. As an important part of Earth s water,
groundwater is an indispensable resource for the development of the global social economy and
people s lives (He rong, et. al., 2015). Groundwater is an easy way for humans to be exposed to heavy
metals. Heavy metal contamination is a significant problem in several community and agricultural
areas (Chotpantart, et. al., 2013). Agrochemicals, including plant nutrients and fertilizer, can cause
increases in the concentration of heavy metals in the water and soil, and these heavy metal can
potentially reach levels in the ground than in the surface and eventually groundwater (Chotpantart, et.
al., 2013).
People living in agricultural areas have commonly consumed groundwater from shallow groundwater
wells (Chotpantart, et. al., 2013). In China, Groundwater is a valuable water resource. China has
become well known with accelerated urbanization and industrialization processes (Bai, et. al., 2016).
Urbanization, moving from rural areas to urban areas, is changing cities worldwide; though this has
benefitted the economy and people s living standards, it has also increased anthropogenic activities
(Egodawatta, et. al., 2016). This increase in activities can enhance some pollutants in urban
environments.

when to eat and when you need to stop eating. When you have an appetite that means the
psychological desire to eat food. When you are hungry that is the physical sensation of needing to eat
food, which is localized in the stomach. Then satiety is the state of having had enough to eat. There is
immediate and delayed satiety. There are of course factors that control these, which are the size of
your stomach and illness. Also, different mood conditions and your genes play a role. I applied this to

darkness of my sleep. I was awoken by the same large man hacking up what seemed to be his lung,
pancreas, spine, and PhD into my face. I looked across the frail old lady out the window and took in
my current surroundings. Everything hit me at once, the beauty of the earth around me suddenly
became less blurry as I watched out my circular airplane window down at the sandy beaches of
Hatteras. I got off the flight, went into the air conditioned beach house, and unpacked my suitcase.
The white sand of the beaches warmed the soles of my feet as I stepped onto the dune down into the
slack. The glow of the now fading orange sun warmed my face, while the unfamiliar smell of
saltwater tickled my nose. I was on the beach for the first time and I was beyond anxious. My only
previous knowledge of the beach came for movies such as Jaws and Soul Surfer. To my dismay there
was not a cute sheriff

Brewhouse Essay
This past Sunday I spent a few hours at the Port of Miami aboard Carnival s Vista cruise ship for the
release of four new beers that will be served aboard the Carnival Horizon. The new beers will be
served in Guy s Pig Anchor Bar B Que Smokehouse|Brewhouse. The restaurant will combine the best
of both worlds, a restaurant featuring BBQ developed by Food Network star Guy Fieri and a brewery
whose beers are built around the smokey BBQ laden menu. The Brewhouse portion will be under the
control of Master Brewer Colin Presby who has spent the last couple of years manning the Brewhouse
aboard the Vista. Smokehouse|Brewhouse is a unique culinary concept and we ve created four
fantastic brewed on board craft beers that not only showcase different tastes and brewing styles but
also serve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As part of the festivities, a firkin of the Farmhouse Ale was tapped by Carnival Vice President of
Beverage Operations Edward Allen. Out of the four, the Farmhouse was my favorite. It had just
enough barnyard funk to keep me coming back for more. The malts for the Smoked Porter are smoked
on board using the ships smoker. The smoke wasn t overpowering and I think it will pair nicely with
the smoked BBQ. The West Coast IPA is hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Centennial hops. While
the aroma and taste of pine and citrus begin to blast your senses it finishes with a malty backbone. The
refreshing Toasted Amber Ale gives off notes of lite caramel and biscuity malts. I m sure all four
offerings will be welcomed with open arms aboard the Horizon. While they are all tasty in their own
right, I think the flavor profile was dialed back a touch to appeal to a wider audience. Craft beer
drinkers will be able to appreciate each beer while folks new to craft will also be able to enjoy a
freshly brewed craft beer with their BBQ

Rio Grande Dbq
On April 25, 1846 shots fired on a group of 70 American soldiers in disputed territory by the Mexican
army left 16 dead and the rest captures. This caused the United States to declare war on Mexico , a
somewhat justified move because Texas had already been annexed by the US, and the federal
government believed that the land up to the Rio Grande was theirs. However, the US did provoke
Mexico by moving troops inside that disputed zone, especially since they were so deep inside that
territory. By April 25th, 1846, the state of Texas had already been annexed by the United States. It is
time for opposition to the annexation of Texas to cease...Texas is now ours. (Doc A). because Texas
had already been annexed by the United States, this gave them ... Show more content on

Jesus Velasco Marquez writes that In the eyes of the Mexican government, the mobilization of the US
army was an outright attack on Mexico. (Doc C), all stemming from the initial dispute over how much
land each side owned. Stationing troops so close to the Rio Grande would cause conflict nonetheless,
regardless of whether or not the land was disputed. These actions were so rash that even some
Americans believed that they were uncalled for. Charles Sumner, representing the Massachusetts
Senate, wrote certainly (Mexico)...might justly charge our citizens with disgraceful robbery. (Doc D).
The claim of Americans not respecting boundaries and laws is only aided by the fact that when
Mexico allowed American citizens to move into their territories, slaveholders crossed the Sabine (river
between Louisiana and Texas) with their slaves, in defiance of the Mexican ordinance of freedom. ,
although Mexico, on achieving independence of the Spanish Crown...decreed the abolition of human
slavery within her dominions. (Both Doc. D). Charles Umber also most likely foresaw the problems of
introducing another large pro slave state into the Union, a move that when seen later contributed to the
Civil War. From the Mexican perspective, US historians refer

Advantages And Disadvantages Of NMR Spectroscopy
NMR spectroscopy is a powerful analytical tool used for studying both structural and chemical
information about the sample. When it is implemented for metabolomics studies NMR provides
several advantages. Firstly, NMR based metabolic profiling can be highly quantitative and
reproducible. This is extremely helpful when multivariate analysis are usually performed in
metabolomic analysis (Nicholson and Wilson 1989). Furthermore, NMR sensitivity is hardly affected
by metabolite pKa or hydrophobicity, which suggests that NMR is an excellent choice for samples in
different conditions (Pan and Raftery 2007). In many metabolomics studies, e.g. milk (Lu, Antunes
Fernandes et al. 2013), human serum (Trygg, Gullberg et al. 2005), NMR performed successfully ...

Several studies determining the metabolites compounds use solvent extraction before performing GC
MS (Saleem, Bouatra et al. 2013). In these studies, two sequential derivatization steps, a protection
step using methoxyamine hydrochloride(methoxyamine HCl )(shown in Figure 4), and a subsequent
silylation step (shown in Figure 5 and 6) using N methyl trimethylsilyltrifluoroacetamide (MSTFA),
are employed. Methoximiation step converts carbonyl groups into methoximes (R=N O CH3) which is
performed to inhibit ring formation of reducing sugars by protecting aldehyde and ketone

  • 2. Video Game Violence And Its Effects On Gamers Video Game Violence and its effects on Gamers In recent years there has been a significant increase of shooting incidents, specifically in America. When there is a shooting event the media is quick to question if the suspect had a history of playing violent video games. There is already the initial connection between video game violence and aggression; but is this connection scientifically correct? This topic interests me because of the increase in school shootings and violence. I have personally heard many times that video game violence has led to many adolescents to extreme forms of violence. Through what has been said in the media I decided to research the topic myself. This is a current event issue that is a present reality for many college students. Does video game violence directly relate to human violence? Does video game violence effect aggression? Does technological advances and violent content effect humans and their aggression? Does violent video games cause hostel thoughts? While researching the connection between video game violence and violence in children I came across communication theories that can help us understand how these two connect and effect people. From the text, Broadcasting, Cable, the Internet, and Beyond: An Introduction to Modern Electronic Media there was research done to settle a debate coming from research done in the early 60 s. The second round of research results came with two conflicting theories. Catharsis theory and stimulation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jeffries is a high class magazine photographer for what seems to be a worldwide publication. In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window , he is a temporarily wheelchair bound man and his voyeuristic side appears later on in the film. Rear Window depicts a 20th century New York in which fraudsters, murderers and salesmen all live alongside each other. The story describes a man who broke his leg during a photography assignment. This is a good way of setting the scene for the viewers. Old style joyous jazz music is played at the start a good way of portraying happy times. The opening scene in Rear Window has no dialogue, leaving even more of the viewers in a pool of anticipation. The scene highlights the fact that every single thing in the film will be seen through that particular window. Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window is a great example of first rate camerawork. The camera is used as the narrator and probably plays the biggest role within the film. At the start of the film, the camera is used to pan around every single apartment within the inner city New York apartment block to introduce the characters. Although the characters do not speak, they still play a major role in the film. Alfred Hitchcock puts the viewers in the position of L.B Jeffries, making us all voyeurs. The camera is used to tell the story, as there is very little dialogue in the film. Throughout nearly all of the film, only one shot is used to tell the story, there are very few cuts. By doing it this way, Hitchcock is showing us exactly what the character is seeing. The cast of Rear Window includes Jimmy Stewart, the lovely Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter, and ... This is because the volume increases at a greater rate than the surface area. Organisms with a smaller surface area to volume ratio can exchange substance more easily compared with bigger organisms, which require more specialised systems. One main theme the music of the hippies was that it was often filled with anger, anger directed at those who would abuse the Constitution for their benefit, who would sell America out and betray all She stands for in other words, their parents and government. Many people claimed the hippies were un American and disrespected and ridiculed patriotism, but in fact they had a great respect for America and believed themselves to be true patriots. They refused to let America be less than it could be, demanding that it should live up to its potential, that it should shine like a beacon to the world as our founding forefathers had intended. Hair reflects this more genuine form of tough love patriotism in many scenes, most notably in the song Don t Put it Down. This song shows a unique dichotomy between true patriotism and symbolic patriotism. More importantly, it makes the emphatic point that there is more than one way to be patriotic. In the original staging of the song, two of the singers folded the American flag in proper military fashion as they sang, demonstrating that they do respect this symbol of their country. The other side of the song takes the title literally, laughing at the idea that the flag can never touch the ground. At the same time, the phrase provides a marked contrast to the tone of all the lines that precede it. This showcases the contrastive power that tone can bring to a piece of literature and helps to set the mood of the play, which is neither a comedy nor a tragedy but maintains interwoven elements of both. Expectation doesn t rouse or provoke the men s spirits, words that might be expected with the harsh tone of the prologue, it merely tickles them. In addition, the phrase as a whole introduces the sexualized tone that dominates many passages in the play. According to the OED, skittish describes a disposition characterized by levity, frivolity, or excessive liveliness. It also carries the meaning, more familiar in contemporary usage as it is applied to horses of a nervous or restive disposition. • 22. Charles Darwin Lab Report Charles Darwin, a naturalist born in 1809 England, traveled around the world on the HMS Beagle from 1831 1836 (Desmond). He made observations on land for three out of the five years he traveled around the world; his most significant findings were recorded on the Galápagos Islands. The most crucial evidence of evolution, a theory that Darwin is known for, consist of the different species of Galapagos tortoises and finches that Darwin observed. He noticed that depending on the different islands similar finches had different variations of beak size and shape. To add, he observed that the tortoise s shell shape and neck length varied based on which island they resided on. Darwin made the observation that depending on each island, which had different ... In 1785, when Hutton discovered this, many people had originally thought the Earth did not change and was much younger. This provided Darwin with evidence that if Earth can evolve so can living things. Lastley, Thomas Malthus found that the more a population grows and reproduces the bigger the population comes. Once these levels rise because of anxiety then the performer will think of pleasant thoughts to then reduce anxiety. The performer can also use breathing control to reduce anxiety. This involves diaphragmatic breathing (breathing deeply) as a means of focusing on relaxation. Another somatic technique similar to breathing control is centering. Here the performer focuses on the rate of breathing and maintaining a slow, steady pace. These both keep you more focused and help to avoid any possible distractions. The final somatic technique that can be used is progressive muscular relaxation. Here you tense your muscles one by one for a few seconds from head to toe. Plate tectonics is the scientific theory that attempts to explain the movements of the Earth s lithosphere that have formed the landscape features we see across the globe today (Briney). The theory of plate tectonics dictates that individual plates, broken down into large and small sections of rock, form Earth s lithosphere. These fragmented bodies of rock move along each other atop the Earth s liquid lower mantle to create the plate boundaries that have shaped Earth s landscape. Plate tectonics originated from meteorologist Alfred Wegener s theory, developed in the early 20th century. In 1912, he realized that the east coast of South America and the west coast of Africa appeared to piece together like a jigsaw puzzle. He further examined the globe and deduced that all of Earth s continents could somehow be assembled together and proposed the idea that the continents had once been linked in a single supercontinent called Pangaea. • 27. Christians Should Study Greek Philosophy Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been many different ideas on how a Christian should interact with the world in which they lived. From the biblical writings of The Gospel according to Matthew, and The Acts of the Apostles, to the non biblical writings of On Philosophy, and The Prescription Against Heretics, the ideas of Christianity were brought together. The two non biblical documents highlight the arguments of whether or not Christians should study Greek philosophy. The books from The Bible showed that Christian beliefs focused on how one should primarily seek their ultimate reward or satisfaction in the Kingdom of God (spiritual), rather than in the here and now (temporal). Christianity, as it began, was a faith that emphasized the importance of acting charitable towards the less fortunate, while understanding that it was ones duty to worship God and spread that love for Him to those who didn t believe. In the Gospel According to Matthew, Jesus said, Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus said this, he showed how the Kingdom of Heaven was welcomed for anybody, not only those who were more fortunate than others. Jesus then went on to explain how those who were humble and those who showed righteousness would enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus also told the people how they should spread his word everywhere and teach those to examine all the things He commanded them. In The Great Commission speech, Jesus inspired His ... After his assassination, Toyotomi Hideyoshi picked up the torch and continued to unite country. He created an early version of the class system separating the farmers from the warriors, and it was enforced through a sword hunt. Farmers were prevented from owning weapons such as swords and guns. The sword hunt also served as a method to reduce villager rebellions and to freeze movement between social classes (Butler 313). Emily Dickinson skillfully incorporates a variety of different methods in her works to enhance their meanings. At first glance her poetry can seem confusing, but simply analyzing at how she structures her poems can give great insight to what she means. Looking at whether each line of the poem ends without punctuation, also known as enjambment can reveal a great deal about a poem. The use of enjambment and end stops control the flow of the poem. Along with em dashes, one of Dickinson s specialties, these techniques allow for an even deeper interpretation of her poetry. She uses dashes to connect words and phrases, that seemingly have no relation, together. In Dickinson s poem There s a certain Slant of light, these devices significantly add to meaning behind the writing. Emily Dickinson s masterful use of enjambment, dashes and end stops immensely add to the meaning of the slant of light, the main topic of the poem. For instance a doctor may be homophobic and have a patient attend surgery asking for advice on practicing safe sex and being HIV aware. Following on from this may be a patients confidence in doctors due to race for example a person who has racist issues would not feel comfortable attending a foreign doctors surgery. To find a third I would have to say gender being a female I tend to talk easier to a female doctor, which persists problems as my female doctor only works three days a week so I put off going to see the male doctor so therefore remain ill longer. My fourth factor is age, as the doctor could be old and the patient adolescent. This would impact on different generations living different lifestyles and changing societies. Adolescence is indeed a tempestuous period , (Thorne, B Lambers.1998). • 33. The Baroque Period Of The Baroque And Classical Period At this time last year, I would have considered all music before the 20th century to be classical. However, after taking a Dual Credit Music Appreciation course, I realized that old music cannot simply be grouped into a single category. There are so many differences that I had no idea existed. Throughout the years, music has changed and evolved, meeting the needs of listeners and performers. Different composers have been catalysts in this change as they have developed new styles and genres. Even though the classical period is directly subsequent of the baroque period, baroque and classical music have countless different qualities and characteristics. The baroque period of music commenced in the year 1600 and ended around 1750 (Fuller Baroque ). Its texture was mainly polyphonic (Fuller Classical ). Polyphonic means that two or more different melodies are played simultaneously (McComb). This provides an energetic rhythm, long melodies, and many ornaments. The most famous composers of this time period were Vivaldi, Corelli, Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, J.S. Bach, and Couperin. Many new styles of music were introduced, such as operas, sonatas, oratorios, suites, fugues, and concertos. Orchestras began to develop, but it was not until the classical period when orchestral music was perfected (Fuller Baroque ). Many authors have tried to describe this concept and related it with the spread of capitalism and along with a proactive welfare state. The concept of neo liberalism basically revived from liberalism. By this it can be suggested that liberalism was absent from politics in order to emerge in a new form. Neo liberalism is not basically a distinct ideology and a not proper form of liberalism. It shares only some of the historic views with liberalism which would be general. Another concept which is introduced is economic liberalism. It is defined as that the states do not intervene in the matters related to economy rather on the individuals. The Effect Of Heavy Metals On Groundwater Shereen Bahadori Toolabi Literature Review Assignment The Effect Heavy Metals has on Groundwater Introduction Water is a major resource human s need for survival. As an important part of Earth s water, groundwater is an indispensable resource for the development of the global social economy and people s lives (He rong, et. al., 2015). Groundwater is an easy way for humans to be exposed to heavy metals. Heavy metal contamination is a significant problem in several community and agricultural areas (Chotpantart, et. al., 2013). Agrochemicals, including plant nutrients and fertilizer, can cause increases in the concentration of heavy metals in the water and soil, and these heavy metal can potentially reach levels in the ground than in the surface and eventually groundwater (Chotpantart, et. al., 2013). People living in agricultural areas have commonly consumed groundwater from shallow groundwater wells (Chotpantart, et. al., 2013). In China, Groundwater is a valuable water resource. China has become well known with accelerated urbanization and industrialization processes (Bai, et. al., 2016). Urbanization, moving from rural areas to urban areas, is changing cities worldwide; though this has benefitted the economy and people s living standards, it has also increased anthropogenic activities (Egodawatta, et. al., 2016). The claim of Americans not respecting boundaries and laws is only aided by the fact that when Mexico allowed American citizens to move into their territories, slaveholders crossed the Sabine (river between Louisiana and Texas) with their slaves, in defiance of the Mexican ordinance of freedom. , although Mexico, on achieving independence of the Spanish Crown...decreed the abolition of human slavery within her dominions. (Both Doc. D). Charles Umber also most likely foresaw the problems of introducing another large pro slave state into the Union, a move that when seen later contributed to the Civil War. From the Mexican perspective, US historians refer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Advantages And Disadvantages Of NMR Spectroscopy NMR spectroscopy is a powerful analytical tool used for studying both structural and chemical information about the sample. When it is implemented for metabolomics studies NMR provides several advantages. Firstly, NMR based metabolic profiling can be highly quantitative and reproducible. This is extremely helpful when multivariate analysis are usually performed in metabolomic analysis (Nicholson and Wilson 1989). Furthermore, NMR sensitivity is hardly affected by metabolite pKa or hydrophobicity, which suggests that NMR is an excellent choice for samples in different conditions (Pan and Raftery 2007). In many metabolomics studies, e.g. milk (Lu, Antunes Fernandes et al. 2013), human serum (Trygg, Gullberg et al. 2005), NMR performed successfully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several studies determining the metabolites compounds use solvent extraction before performing GC MS (Saleem, Bouatra et al. 2013). In these studies, two sequential derivatization steps, a protection step using methoxyamine hydrochloride(methoxyamine HCl )(shown in Figure 4), and a subsequent silylation step (shown in Figure 5 and 6) using N methyl trimethylsilyltrifluoroacetamide (MSTFA), are employed. Methoximiation step converts carbonyl groups into methoximes (R=N O CH3) which is performed to inhibit ring formation of reducing sugars by protecting aldehyde and ketone ...
