Introduction
Ocean Carrier Inc. owned and operated cape size dry bulk carriers worldwide. Major Cargo type is
iron ore and coal. Vessel sizes are 80,000 DWT to 210,000 DWT. Cape size carriers travel around
Cape Horn rather than the Panama Canal due to size constraints. The cargo operations include
maintenance, repairs, insurance, supplying of lubricants, maintaining supplies and on board stores.
Fundamental Analysis
Business Model
Mostly chartered on time charter basis for one, three, or five year periods. Occasionally spot charter
market was used too. Charterer paid a daily hire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the market demand for shipping capacity was high, owners would keep a vessel in operation as
long as possible. Conversely, when market demand was low, scrapping rose. There had been very few
scrapping in recent years, one reason might be that most of the capacity of the worldwide fleet of
capsizes was fairly young which we can see from Exhibit 5, another reason might be the market
demand is strong recently.
Market demand is affected by trading volumes, world economy and even trading patterns.
For example, in 2003, the Australian and Indian ore exports would begin, the volume would increase,
demand for capsize would likely increase as well with the higher trading volumes.
Exhibit 5 shows the evidence that demands (Iron ore vessel shipments) and supply (Fleet size) drive
the average daily hire rate (Avg. spot rate).
Factor 2: World economy
The average daily hire rate is also determined by the world economy, especially its basic industries.
When the economy is strong, the production and demand for the shipped products increase thus will
result a lower hire rate. Conversely, when the world economy is in a recession, the hire rate will be
lower. Take an example, the average hire rate declined in 1998 and 1999 because of the effect of 1998
financial crisis.
Factor 3: Age of ships
Average hire rate is influenced by the age of the ships. If a company s vessels are relatively new than
the industry average, it earned a premium in daily hire rate

Strengths Of The Immune System And Ayurveda
Immune system and Ayurveda
What is Immune system:
The immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect
the body. One of the important cells involved are white blood cells, also called leukocytes, which
come in two basic types that combine to seek out and destroy disease causing organisms or
substances.
What cause immune system to weaken:
Anything that weakens your immune system can lead to a secondary immunodeficiency disorder. Low
consumption of protein in your diet can weaken your immune system. Your body also produces
proteins when you sleep that help your body fight infection. For this reason, lack of sleep reduces your
immune defenses. There are several other factors too which cause the weakness of immune system.
How to Boost Immune system with Ayurveda:
If our Immune system is weak, that means our defense system is low and can result in several kind of
illness such as Fever, Flu and fatigue. It is very important to enhance your immune system so that it
can fight with the different kind of viruses and keep us safe. There are a lot of foods which can
enhance our immune system. Especially the food that turns into Ojas can be very beneficial. You can

The Keurig Machine
The Keurig Machine
We are surrounded by many choices when we start our day, such as what we are going to wear, what
we are going to eat, and where we are going to get our source of caffeine from to use to start the day.
There are so many choices on where to get that caffeine from, outside coffee shops, an old coffee
maker, french press, and lastly the newest invention, the Keurig machine. The Keurig machine itself
was invented in 1990, with its first machine manufactured in the 2000 s. (Keurig website) It s very
challenging in a modern world like todays, not to be drawn to this neat, and useful device. Looking at
it, it can brew a cup of coffee with just the touch of a button in seconds. There isn t a massive glass jar
like an old fashioned coffee maker would have, instead just enough room for any mug of choice.
There is always a question of, what is a Keurig machine? Well, according to the Keurig website, it is a
beverage, brewing system used for both commercials, and home use. Instead of usual coffee machines
requiring a switch to flip to brew, and a coffee filter, and filling the glass with water, the Keurig allows
a small portion called a K Cup which is used to brew the coffee. The middle aged and adult
populations are highly targeted with this new invention. The ad imposes that our lives can be easier
with the touch of a button, and boom our source of coffee is delivered within seconds. The
advertisement has adequately shown the easy steps one can take to brew a

Is Abortion A Crime Or Social Responsibility Essay
Abortion: Crime or social responsibility
Population control comes in many forms: cancer, famine, A.I.D.S, genocide, war and natural disasters,
but never has one been so celebrated and socially accepted before abortion. Abortion has been
practiced for hundreds of years and medical technology has advanced accordingly; providing a safer
and much more sanitary procedure for the women receiving the operation, but the result remains the
same for the defenseless child. Abortion continues to be one of the most debated and country dividing
topics this nation has seen. In the recent past, there has been steady movement towards the
governmental restrictions on abortion. The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 was one of the
greatest victories in Congress related to this topic. The ban restricts an individual form of abortion
(partial birth abortion) past 24 weeks from conception (United States Congress). Even though this is a
positive step in the right and moral direction, the act needs to be revised. It needs to have the allotted
time reduced from 24 weeks to 20 weeks based on new medical research that fetuses can feel pain
prior to 24 weeks. Abortion will never become completely illegal (that is just harsh reality), but the
restrictions that govern abortions can be fine tuned to incorporate a smaller and more humane window
for abortions. Abortion has been a topic of debate for the past two hundred years. During the years
shortly after our country s independence, abortion laws

Analysis Of Stud Terkel s The Good War
Stud Terkel s The Good War is a book of oral histories from World War Two that shows many
different accounts and aspects of living life in World War Two or actually being on the battlefield. The
interviews range from soldiers, admirals, house wives, kids, nurses and many other people in the
world experiencing World War Two. There are also people who had firsthand accounts from Russia,
England, France and even Japan. I believe this book of memories is a far more effective way of
understanding the history of World War Two rather than a book of hard facts and statistics because
The Good War demonstrates how firsthand accounts in World War Two makes you feel like you ve
been on the battlefield or out on the home front. It creates visual images in your head with the
amazing detail that some of the soldiers described. These stories are compelling to read and it draws
your attention in. There are limitations of just having a book about oral histories, the person could
emphasize and talk about something that was important to them and not others, they could distort the
memories to what they want to remember or they could even exaggerate or do the opposite and leave
very little detail. Interviews such as Lowell Steward s, Akira Miuri, John H Groove, and Telford
Taylor show how effective oral histories can be.
Lowell Steward was an African American who enlisted into the United States Airforce. Studs Terkel
interviewed him with his longtime friend Colonel Gleed jumping in every once

Saki The Interlopers
The Interlopers by Saki is a story of bitter hatred, grudging reconciliation, and the unmerciful acts of
nature. Ulrich and Georg are two men that continued to supply their everlasting conflict between their
families. Unfortunately, spontaneous events changed their life in the east of the Carpathian Mountains.
The process the author managed to keep the story continuing with so much suspicion is the reason
why this has become a favorite of mine. The way he kept the suspicion thorough, he used literary
terms such as point of view, foreshadowing, and irony. First of all, the point of view the story is
written in is third person omniscient, as in the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of the
characters. The author begins to use signs

Palm Oil Growth And Sustainability
Palm Oil Growth in Peru Slows as Land Suitability and Sustainability Take Top Priority
Palm is a tree crop suited to cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of the tropical
rainforest. From 1999 to 2009, global production more than doubled. Thirty years ago, palm oil
accounted for less than 2 percent but now accounts for 37 percent of vegetable oil consumption
worldwide, and palm has displaced soy as the world s most important vegetable oil. Palm oil is used
as a biofuel, for cooking, and in a wide range of other items, including food products, cosmetics, soaps
and detergents.
Malaysia and Indonesia produce 85 percent of the world s palm oil. Expansion in these two countries
is expected to diminish by 2022, however, as land suitable for additional palm oil production
dwindles. As an alternative, developers are looking to other regions for expansion, including Latin
America. Estimates suggest that Peru has the second largest area potentially suitable for increased oil
palm production within this region.
Area Expansion
In 2003, the Peruvian government announced that the production of biofuels, including palm oil,
would be a priority. Before 2006, palm expansion in Peru was slow and occurred mainly on already
cleared land (mostly pastures and secondary growth forests, as opposed to old growth forests.)
Between 2006 and 2010, however, area doubled, and about 70 percent of all new palm plantations
during this time were established by old growth clearing.

Age Of Driving
Lastly, many researchers support the idea that the government should increase the age of driving to
eighteen because of teen drivers lacking of maturity. At the age of sixteen, teenagers are not mature
enough in making decision and facing with problems. According to The Driving Age Should Be
Increased, Robert Davis said that the brain has not completed development at the age of sixteen. When
teens are speeding, only the center of the brain have enough ability to work perfectly; other parts of
the brain are in the process of development. Thus, they might not be mature enough to know how to
control their actions well or even consider about the consequences of doing something wrong. In
particular, some of scientists at NIH campus in Bethesda,

Antigone Moral
What is the Moral of the Story?
What s the overall message that Peter J. Ahrensdorf and Thomas L. Pangle are trying to portray to
their audience.? Well, after reading the play and being able to analyze the story a little more in depth, I
came up with two probable answers. First, I think the author s trying to describe Antigone as this
antagonist, who s against all odds throughout the play. She s a young girl who refuses to let anyone
tell her what to do. Her self morals of loyalty and courage outweigh any consequence that s willing to
come her way. Antigone ends up pushing her limits by finally forcing Creon to punish her by sticking
her in a cave and locking her in there, but in the end Creon changes his. He finally understands what
needs to be done; He finally kind of sees eye to eye and allows Antigone to bury her brother. So, in the
end, I interpreted this as the author telling us don t give up for what we believe in, no matter how big
or small of a stretch it is, because in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an audience, we learn that only if you are buried probably with all the rituals that go along with it,
will you rest peacefully. Also, we learn that Antigone say s her soul will not rest easily if she does not
give her brother the proper burial that he deserves. That s why she does everything in her will power
to accomplish to difficult task. We also learn that the authority side has an agreement that not traitor to
their country should be put to rest on a proper burial. So, this is where we see the two sides clash, the
religious belief vs the authority. Now, we can see that there is no meaningful conversation between the
two sides to try and seek this dilemma out. Matter of fact, it s just each side clashing at the other
explaining their argument of why they are right. It s basically one big protest, that leads to some

Changing Nyc s Unemployment Rate
Changing NYC s Unemployment Rate New York City is one of the most populous cities in the world.
With the massive amount of people who call New York City home, there is a need for a vast amount of
job opportunities. Unemployment is one of the major problems that the people in New York City face.
Finding a job can be stressful and hard. In order to combat the increasing unemployment rate in New
York City, there needs to be more help for students in college, new federal programs that will create
new jobs, and lower taxes on businesses. Education is known as a pathway to many new job
opportunities, hence creating a need for a postsecondary degree in order to obtain employment. A high
school diploma is a prerequisite for many entry level jobs. There are numerous public schools in New
York City that offer twelve years of education free to students from all races, ethnicities, and
backgrounds. After one has graduated from public school, he or she may want to continue his or her
education and go on to college. A college degree opens the door to more job prospects than would a
high school degree. The federal and state governments offer students money based on students
financial need, but the cost of college does not just stop at the cost of tuition. Students have to pay for
room and board, transportation, textbooks and a multitude of other essentials to cover their everyday
needs. All of these costs add up and can discourage many students from going to college or force

A Study of the Dramatic Roles of Women in Richard III Essay
There are five female characters in the play Richard III. Of these five there are four central female
characters; the Duchess of York, Richard s mother; Anne who later becomes Richard s wife; Queen
Margaret who was the former queen and Richard s arch enemy and Queen Elizabeth, the current
queen. The final female character who plays a minor role in the play is Queen Elizabeth s daughter,
Elizabeth, but she is merely a pawn in Richard s plan and we never meet her. Each woman has a
significant role in Richard III and is vital to the script. Anne is the first female character that we meet
in the text (act 1 scene 2), which is where she is wooed by the ultimate villain in the play, Richard. ...

She is a fool to be charmed in this way against all the odds and to be made believe that he killed them
for her. She realises her mistake later on in the play but by then it is too late and she is killed. The
woman whom we meet next is my favourite character in the play because she too is a victim like many
others in the play, but is the only one who manages to defeat Richard. This is Queen Elizabeth. Queen
Elizabeth is a passive character throughout most of the play until she is no longer queen. As I have
already mentioned Queen Elizabeth is a victim in the play but more so than any of the other characters
because her husband dies of ill health due to Richard s scheming and lies, and then her two sons are
murdered due to Richard s demands, but she still stays strong enough to send her remaining son
abroad to save him. Her dramatic role in Richard III is to show that evil can be overthrown. She is
Richard s victim throughout until she deceives him by making him believe that he will take her young
daughter in marriage I go. Write to me very shortly, /And you shall understand from me her mind. In
this scene we see Queen Elizabeth in a different light, not as a grieving widow or mother, but as a
strong, determined character that is intent on overthrowing her tormentor. She sees a chance to be

Descriptive Essay On A Summer Day
One hot summer s day in the last week of August, my family and I went camping all the way over in
Tennessee. But, every time we go on a trip like this a mystery pops up. But, then again mysteries can
also happen when you are not doing anything. So, it was just ordinary camping for now. It was just
going to be our family, but Elizabeth decided to invite Daniel Hoffman and Thomas Flipsbargen since
their parents were out of town. Ugh! They re really annoying boys, to me at least. Elizabeth doesn t
think they are annoying, and neither does April or Jamie, who by the way decided to come along as
well, so it may just be me. I do get kind of nervous around boys. We would be traveling 434.8 miles or
6 hours and 31 minutes in a van with only a little bit of luggage space, and only a few rest stops along
the way! And, then we would have to eat, and the kids might be noisy, and... There are a lot of
possibilities to consider when you are taking a big trip with numerous amounts of people. We were
going to take our trusty van, but, it only holds eight people and we had ten people coming along. We
planned to leave at six in the morning. We packed that night making sure to pack clothes, our tooth
brushes, brushes, and a few toys for Justin and Ellie, cooking necessities and other things. I slept
restlessly that night, my mind was wandering. What kind of mystery will be waiting for me? Will
there be one? Should I just go to sleep? Elizabeth finally rolled over in her bed and

An Exploration of Clarissa s gift through different points of view in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
Multiple points of view are represented and shifted through various characters in Virginia Woolf s
Mrs. Dalloway through indirect discourse, which helps to describe the innermost thoughts of Woolf s
central characters using singular pronouns in the third person. It is these multiple points of view that
establish interconnectedness among the characters, mirroring the interconnectedness that comes with
Clarissa s gift: her parties; it is these parties in which she brings people together and creates a human
dialogue.

same motorcar, which is precisely when the point of view switches to Septimus , whereby his
consciousness is shrouded in trauma and shell shock a definite dichotomy between the opposing
worlds of himself and Clarissa s. Despite coming from seemingly opposing worlds, the subtle
transition establishes the interconnectedness between the two characters almost as if though they are
one person or entity.
A second significant transition occurs when Peter Walsh, a former love of Clarissa s, pays an
unexpected visit to Clarissa the same morning. Here we get a sense of their feelings and thoughts
towards each other, and learn that the togetherness they once had, has been lost:
He s very well dressed, thought Clarissa; yet he always criticises me...Here she is mending her dress;
mending her dress as usual, he thought; here she s been sitting all the time I ve been in India; mending
her dress; playing about; going to parties; running to the House and back and all that, he thought,
growing more and more irritated, more and more agitated. (41) The shift in point of view from
Clarissa s to Peter s emphasizes how separate and disconnected their lives have become, which
perfectly contrasts with the way in which both the characters inner thoughts are smoothly intertwined.
Clarissa is usually

Wi Fi For Education And Information Systems
Wi Fi for Education and Information Systems in Indian Rural Communities Throughout developing
nations, access to Wi Fi is limited to none. There are huge advantages to having access to the Internet
in various ways. An extremely important advantage to Wi Fi availability is so one can access the
Internet for information to educate their selves. The Internet is filled with information right at ones
fingertips that can be accessed at any time. Some countries such as India have numerous rural
communities that cannot access this information. Lack of Internet access in today s world can prove to
be detrimental to one s life. People who live in these communities throughout the world that do not

This is where the MDG Wi Fi for Education comes into play. Wi Fi for Education is a MDG discussed
in the book Designing A World That Works For All by Medard Gabel. This MDG discuss the strategy
to provide those living in the developing world with Internet access via affordable Wi Fi so that
education related material could be provided to them as it is to many throughout the world. According
to the book, Its goals include providing Internet access (email plus phone service) to 4 billion people,
living in the developing world, for $1/month and to use the Internet as a medium for education... This
is an important factor because people living in these rural communities would not be able to afford Wi
Fi when offered if it was not at an affordable rate. This is because most people living in these
communities live a life of poverty and simply cannot afford to pay substantial amounts for Internet
access. There also seems to be a few choices in setting up a Wi Fi infrastructure in developing nations,
including a solar powered communications station. Costs range from $500 per village to $1000 per
village to set up a Wi Fi infrastructure, to $2000 for a village wide solar powered communications
station. These numbers may seem to be quite affordable, but one must understand how many rural
villages in India have a need for this infrastructure. Prices can total up $638 million in order to

From Louis XIV, who chose to ignore the deficit on his balance book hundreds of years ago after his

seems never ending. Once constrained these unethical practices, a flourishing society and stable
political status can be established, but rarely merchants and governments can completely and

Even in 15th century Italy, where were famous for its prosperous business and active merchants,
according to Pacioli, rarely people could achieve that goal. The mysterious verve of accounting not
only attracted public and rulers attention, but also induced them to combine the success with good
bookkeeping method. In some degree, it is the truth, but in today s view, merely being a good
accountant is not enough to be a successful businessman. After more and more successful accounting
related stories came out, public firmed their high value of accounting, which connected it to every
things in their lives as well as God. This actually created a pressure for accountants to do the best in
financial accountability, or at least, they purposely presented a beautiful surface, because public
concerned and admired this industry. This sounds like an idol in today s society, who needed to be
careful about their behaviors. This culture, as well as other cultures, could not survive without
authority permission, so it is easy to infer that rulers also tried to use accounting to govern society
better and managed their own properties. In history, however, from Emperor Augustus to the first

Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown and History Essay
Young Goodman Brown and History
Q. D. Leavis states that perhaps the persecuting aspect of their way of life was peculiarly present to
Hawthorne because of the witch hanging judge and the Quaker whipping Major among his ancestors
(30). This is a reference to one instance of historical allusion in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young
Goodman Brown. This essay will explore a variety of historical incidences referred to in this short
story.
Clarice Swisher in Nathaniel Hawthorne: a Biography states:
William Hathorne was a colonial magistrate involved in the persecution of Quakers, another Protestant

And it was I that brought your father a pitch pine knot, kindled at my own hearth, to set fire to an
Indian village, in King Philip s War. They were my good friends, both; and many a pleasant walk have
we had along this path, and returned merrily after midnight.
Notice the allusion to the historical episode from Hawthorne s life mentioned by Leavis and Swisher
above. In addition to the Quaker incident from the author s past, there is also the tragedy of the witch
hanging judge in his past, also mentioned by Leavis and Swisher above. Wagenknecht states in
Nathaniel Hawthorne that, of the three Salem women mentioned in Young Goodman Brown, two of
these were hanged; all three were accused in 1692 (60). Wagenknecht continues: When the devil
speaks of his intimacy with Brown s ancestors and of their cruelty toward Quakers and Indians,
Hawthorne is clearly thinking of his own forbears (60). Thus it is seen that the historicity of these
short story episodes is well established.
A proper, accurate interpretation of Young Goodman Brown depends on the reader s knowledge of an
historical occurrence from June of 1692, when a group of important Boston clergymen issued a
statement which declared that it was an undoubted and notorious thing, that a demon may, by God s
permission, appear, even to ill purposes, in the shape of an innocent, yea, and a virtuous man (60). The
parallel to this historic declaration is found in

There can be many challenges that arise in diverse teams such as communication challenges.
Managers should ensure that people within the team are communicating clearly in a way that everyone
understands. The manager should also encourage team members to communicate with their own
individual networks to bring more knowledge and information to the group. Managers also need to
regularly provide positive feedback to the team. This will reassure the team that they are effective in
what they have done and can see progress that they have made. Lastly, effective managers need to act
as a role model to the team and mentor them. Mentoring gives employees skills and advice on what
they need to do to be successful. The manager should also act in a way that they want the rest of the
team to behave and show that they believe diverse teams can be of great benefit. Virtual and mobile
teams (also known as distributed teams) are individual members or groups of a team working
independently without a common work location, to meet collective organization goals. Virtual and

In discussing the purpose and audience for the AT T site, the possibilities are endless. This is due to the
fact that the document is online, which means it is exposed to more people than a regular print
document would most likely be exposed too. The fact that the document is a website and available on
the internet makes the purpose more multi faceted based on the audience groups viewing it.
People the ages of 3 to 99 are on the internet these days. The internet is something that most people
use to access information about well anything. The AT T sites purpose is to promote their brand, and
inform people about it. Before looking at the AT T site I wasn t aware of all of the different services
they offer other than wireless, after only viewing the page for seconds I quickly became informed
otherwise. That is there purpose brand awareness, making people aware of the brand and promoting
all of their services. The site also has a section that informs people about the company and what their
goals and ambitions are as a company. The about AT T link also goes into depth about the active role
that AT T plays in the community. The site also promotes their careers available at AT T, and even
gives current AT T members access to support for their services. Although the site has many purposes,
I would say that the main purpose is brand awareness. AT T centers their site around all of the
different products and services they offer, they want to get the word out about everything that

Reflection Paper On Restless Leg Syndrome
Chronic Disease Analytical Reflection Paper Introduction to Restless Leg Syndrome Willis Ekbom
Disease, commonly referred to as restless leg syndrome is a disorder of the nervous sensory system
that causes an uncomfortable urge to move the legs as defined by Sales, Sanghera, Klocko, and
Malcom (2016). These symptoms are majorly observed in the evening or during nighttime when one
assumes a resting position in bed. Consequently, they cause difficulties in falling asleep. The
interference in sleep makes resting leg syndrome be classified as a sleep disorder. The symptom of
resting leg syndrome may also appear when one is undertaking a long rest during the day, travelling or
even watching a movie (NIH, 2017). Movement or any leg activity is ... Show more content on

Aesthetic Aspect People with a sedentary lifestyle, mostly the citizens of highly developed countries,
are known to take part in activities with less energy requirement and eat fat food. Thus, there rises a
need to encourage citizens to do daily exercises to reduce chances of developing sedentary disorders.
Socio political Aspect Alcohol and drug abuse are known to aggravate the symptoms of multifactorial
diseases. Washington and Zweber (2008) state that alcohol is known to interfere with the
pharmacokinetics, as well as the pharmacodynamics of numerous drugs, including those used in the
treatment of diabetes. Reduced effectiveness of the drugs may aggravate the conditions. Finally,
alcohol is known to penetrate the blood brain barrier and thus, have an effect on the central nervous
system. The governments thus need to tighten laws that discourage citizens against drug usage.
Personal Aspect With reduced quality of sleep caused by restless leg syndrome, ethical problems
appear, such as lack of concentration at work place, as well as drowsiness during a social gathering.
As a result, they may lead to reduced self esteem of an individual suffering from restless leg
syndrome. Ethical Aspect Similarly, hyperactivity brought about by restless leg syndrome may
compromise relationship between the patient and his close associates including his workmates or
people at his work place,

Othello By William Shakespeare s Othello
Shakespeare s Othello peels back the layers of society s underlying feelings regarding people who lie
outside of the perceived standard norm. It digs into the heart of society and reveals the damage that is
placed upon individuals who are considered outsiders, even if they manage to achieve success. In this
particular play, the audience is able to see how the subtleties of racial bias slowly destroy a person s
psyche. Throughout the play, the audience examines Othello cast in both negative and positive
positions. Othello is both a great general of the Venetian army as well as, just the moor who used
magic to trick his wife, Desdemona, into a marriage. Through harmful racial language Othello is
constantly reminded of his outsider status. The destruction of his character through blatant and subtle
criticisms cause Othello to doubt his self worth and ultimately leads to his self destruction.
Racial otherness and the inconspicuous barrier it creates in this play is the key to understanding the
tragedy of Othello. Iago and Roderigo open the play with slanderous statements about the character
and personality of Othello that allows the audience to view how society perceives Othello. The
language Roderigo and Iago use is openly offensive and can t be mistaken for anything other than hate
based on Othello s race. Roderigo refers to Othello as the thick lips as well as a lascivious Moor ,
during the opening of the play. Both Iago and Roderigo are disgusted with the high rank

Implementation Du Dans La Societe

Graves Disease Research Paper
Graves Disease
Graves disease is a precursor to hyperthyroidism. Named after the man who first discovered the
condition, Robert Graves, this disease shares many immunologic features with autoimmune
hypothyroidism (17). The most common symptoms that come with this disease are weight loss,
fatigue, nervousness, and irregular heartbeats. This particular condition can be affected by a person s
age. Statistics show that the severity of different symptoms can increase as a person diagnosed with
Graves disease grows older. This condition also makes people more susceptible to other autoimmune
diseases and women who are diagnosed with Graves disease should refrain from becoming pregnant
until their thyroid problems have been sufficiently treated.

This can occur when the body is unable to produce sufficient amounts of thyroid hormone. When the
gland is unable to produce enough thyroid hormone, the gland tends to grow to try to make up for the
lack of necessary hormone in the body. There are different types/degrees to goiters. Two of the types
of goiter are simple goiter and toxic nodular goiter. Simple goiter can develop for no apparent reason.
Women seem to be more susceptible to developing this form of goiter. Other causes may also be lack
of iodine intake. Many times, when there are large numbers of people in a population who develop
simple goiters, the reason could very well be that the natural environment in which they reside may be
lacking in iodine. A person s chances of developing this condition may also increase when a person
passes the age of

Examining The Functional Connectivity Of A Whole Brain Atlas
Background: The brain is often considered the most complex organ in the human body. It is also the
most difficult to understand, given the vast array of different functions spread throughout its mass and
the interconnected functionality of its regions that makes subdividing it based on form or function a
difficult task. Craddock, et al. (2012), in the article examined, attempt to produce a method for further
examining the functional connectivity (FC) of the regions of the brain and subdivide them based on
spatial positioning and function. Understanding FC in the brain can significantly improve
understanding of many brain functions and the effect of outside stimulus of various parts of the brain.
This examination will only be able to take place by creating an accurate whole brain atlas. This
creation of a whole brain atlas, or a map of the brain separating it into regions of interest (ROI) based
positioning and/or function, has typically been done via fMRI analysis of the brain combined with an
anatomically based mapping procedure. This study seeks to use fMRI technology combined with an
algorithm to create voxel clusters or ROI s that optimize both spatial coherence and homogeneity in
regards to the FC of the individual ROIs that can closely match of the results of a voxel wise analysis,
while improving on computation power required and interpretability.
Clinical Significance: The usefulness of this technology and methodology can be found in both

Ferdinand Margaret Quotes
The theme of witchcraft is engrained in the character of Margret and the play, as it becomes a tool for
revenge and revelation. Having suffered the loss of her husband, her son, and her kingdom, Margret is
a woman banished on pain of death (1.3.166). Nevertheless, Margret s pain is not limited to grieving.
Bitter and passionate she returns to England seeking justice. Margret angrily declares to Richard III: A
husband and a son thou ow st to me, / And thou a kingdom; all of you alliance. / This sorrow that I
have by right is yours, / And all the pleasures you usurp are mine (1.3.169 174). In this line, Margret
expresses her desire for retribution for her bereavement caused by Richard III and other Yorkist royals
like Queen Elizabeth. However, as she no longer holds social power, she is only capable of
pronouncing curses to the gods. Margret exclaims, Did York s dread curse prevail so much with
heaven/... Can curses pierce the clouds and enter heaven? / Why then give way, dull clouds, to my
quick curses! (1.3.190 195) Margret invokes the justice of God through her curses to gain revenge by
punish the crimes of her enemies. Interestingly, through her mention of the Duke of York s curse
Margret manages to link her curses to those used in the past to make her suffer. Thus, Margret s curses

Stop Cutting The Pacific Ocean Without Plastic Analysis
Stop Polluting the Pacific Ocean with Plastic
If someone says that the area of the floating plastic garbage in the central North Pacific Ocean is twice
the size of Texas, will you believe it? Charles Moore, an oceanographer who first came up with the
idea of Great Pacific Garbage Patch , caught sight of plastic trash floating in the North Pacific Gyre
when he was sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii. I was confronted...with the sight of plastic, Moore
wrote in an essay for Natural History, It seemed unbelievable, but I never found a clear spot. No
matter what time of day I looked, plastic debris was floating everywhere: bottles, bottle caps,
wrappers, fragments ( History Algalita ). Besides the plastic that we can see from the surface, far
below the surface, more plastic exists. The plastic is slowly releasing toxic chemicals, harming the
water and the marine animals, and finally flows to the human body. Plastic makes our lives more
convenient, but without proper treatment, it will pollute the ocean instead; therefore, we should reduce
the amount of plastic waste we produce in order to prevent further pollution to the Pacific Ocean and
to protect the marine animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plastic, whether it is for a container, a wrapper or the product itself, has become an everyday part of
our lives. The plastic itself is not a waste. We use it to contain food, construction workers wear it to
protect their heads, and arthritic patients have it for their replaced hips. However, Only 9 percent of
the total plastic waste generated in 2012 was recovered for recycling ( Plastics, Common Wastes
Materials ). If we just throw it away instead of recycle it, it will become a plastic waste and pollute the
environment. When it reaches the ocean, it will turn into floating debris, which is even harder to

Analysis Of Alexis De Tocqueville s Life
It was Monday, October 27th, 2014; Alexis De Tocqueville was casually heading down to the local
election hall in Toronto for the municipal elections occurring that night. As he stepped in and stood in
line for his turn, he noticed two individuals ahead of him. At closer inspection, he was in awe to
realize these two gentlemen happened to be Adam Smith and Karl Marx, two great philosophers he
had always wanted to meet and converse with. Smith and Marx, realizing their admirer staring,
immediately recognized Tocqueville as well and at that moment, all three of their eyes lit in
excitement. After turning in their votes, the three agreed to go to a nearby restaurant for some nachos
because who does not like nachos after voting on a Monday night. Since they had just come from
voting for the elections, it was only appropriate the topic of their discussion should be something
related. De Tocqueville, taking the initiative when they had settled down, decided to throw a question
to Marx and Smith after they had finished snacking on perfectly dressed nachos and having a few
drinks. But before he could, Adam Smith declared he was too tired to go through what is about to
occur, so they decided to just leave him as he passes out on his seat. Looking at Marx, Tocqueville
asked, Well, now that we are here, and have just finished voting and eating, I would like to ask you
and your great mind what you personally think about the importance of governments? Having unique

The World War I Ended
In late June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. A rise of threats and
mobilization orders followed the event, leading to the outbreak of World War I, which pitted Germany,
Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire (the so called Central Powers) against Great Britain,
France, Russia, Italy and Japan (the Allied Powers). The Allies were joined after 1917 by the United
States. The four years of the Great War as it was then known saw unprecedented levels of carnage and
destruction, thanks to grueling trench warfare and the introduction of modern weaponry such as
machine guns, tanks and chemical weapons. By the time World War I ended in the defeat of the
Central Powers in November 1918, more than 9 million soldiers had been killed and 21 million more
wounded. New weapons revolutionized combat in World War One.
Combat morphed from a rapid, noble and relatively ephemeral thing to a new model: trench warfare.
There were many wars before the Great War, or World War 1. The Revolutionary war and The Civil
War were the two major wars before the occurrence of World War 1. Both of these wars produced
many casualties. During The Civil, at least 618,000 Americans died. Today, The Civil War still has the
greatest number of American casualties than any other war. Another major war prior to the First World
War was the American Revolution. During this time there was approximately 50,000 dead or wounded
American soldiers.
The technology during these two wars was very

Trip To The Saco River-Personal Narrative
Summer of 2016, a quiet, but exciting time. Fun with friends, bonfires, and oh yeah, bear attacks. One
day in the car on the way to school, my mom told us that we will be going on a trip to the Saco River
with some friends for a week when summer vacation starts. She also said that we would not be able to
bring our phones. Right as she said this, all four of my brothers started to complain. They hated
camping trips, and especially being away from there electronics. They disliked this one a little more
though, because school had just ended, and they would rather be home relaxing. But, I however was
super excited, I loved going camping and was I happy it was in a cabin, we wouldn t have to wake up

We got there around late afternoon and it was the biggest cabin we ever seen. The driveway was wide
but short, It was made of gravel and dirt, there was also a basketball hoop in the driveway, with a big
garage that was not attached to the house. On the outside of the cabin there was a big porch with a
railing that leads to the back of the cabin. The wood of the cabin was a light brown color, almost tan,
and looked like it was glossed. When we opened the door we all dropped our stuff and started to
explore. When I first walked in I felt a rush of relaxation, all the bad things that were happening in the
world, all my worries and stresses seemed to disappear. When you first walk in you see a living room
area to the left, and a kitchen to the right all in one room. In the kitchen there was a small eating table,
and also bright teal cupboards above the counter tops against the walls connected to a refrigerator. The
living room area had a huge white wrap around couch with a flat screen tv mounted to the walls. Also
in the living room there was a door leading to the porch. Also on this floor were two bedrooms, one

why not?
Prototype companies are vital so industry can move forward with world sustainability in the 21st

As stated by Wang et al. (2006, p. 160) ... environmental accidents, complaints, and concerns have
pressured industries to shift from the traditions end of pipe approaches to sound pollution prevention
strategies . Interface are reducing their smoke stacks. End of pipe solutions are no longer accepted as a
means of reducing pollution and remaining sustainable in the 21st Century (Waage 2003, p. 23). This
has resulted in Interface reducing their 292 smoke stacks to 183. This is a 39% reduction in smoke
stacks from their operations. A reduction in smoke stacks equals a reduction in pollutants and waste
entering the earths atmosphere. As stated by Wang et al. (2006, p. 160) Pollution represents a loss in
profits during manufacturing . By Interface reducing their pollution through smoke stack
minimisation, they will see a return in increased profits. Further looking into the aspect of reducing
emissions, Interface has acknowledged that to prevent toxic emissions altogether we must go upstream
and prevent those toxic substances from entering our factories in the first place. What comes in will go
out as a product, waste or emission (Waage 2003, p. 23.). To sum this statement, prevention is better
than cure. By following a process of assessing what products come into a manufacturing process and
either substituting or eliminating pollutant products, the end waste will be minimised. As Interface has
set up a programme to reduce benign emissions they

Group Think Essay
Group Think
This type of dysfunctional operation of an organization has many ways and opportunities for failure.
The basic fundamentals of this process are the beginnings of failure as groups seek conformity and
unity they sacrifice everything in order to maintain peace within the group. Many times this will take
the individuals creative thoughts and ability to voice the creative edge thinking away. In many
organizations this is a process that is continually used. It is perceived that management wants the
organizations operation or process to run without any type of question or waves. Below are listed eight
of the main symptoms of group think as detailed by Janis, I. L Manns book Decision making
Symptoms of Groupthink are divided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Decision making is affected by the Group Think because of the lack of openness that should be
displayed and offered by everyone involved. The development of the organization is dependent on the
ability of the group to make decisions that are thought through and not made solely on pressures and
accepted or narrow minded ways that are not thought out.
More specifically, whenever a group making policy displays most of the symptoms of Groupthink
then we can expect to find that the group also displays symptoms of defective decision making. Seven
such examples are as Janis states:
1. Incomplete survey of alternatives.
2. Incomplete survey of objectives.
3. Failure to examine risks of preferred choice.
4. Failure to reappraise initially rejected alternative.
5. Poor information search.
6. Selective bias in processing information at hand.
7. Failure to work out contingency plans.
One of the worst Groupthink decisions ever was the decision to launch the Space shuttle Challenger.
On the morning of January 28, 1986, the space shuttle Challenger blasted off from the Kennedy Space
Center in Florida
Seventy three seconds after the countdown clock reached zero the Challenger exploded. Immediately
after the explosion President Reagan appointed a commission to find out why the Challenger
exploded. In a five volume published report, the presidential commission identified the primary cause

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the market demand for shipping capacity was high, owners would keep a vessel in operation as long as possible. Conversely, when market demand was low, scrapping rose. There had been very few scrapping in recent years, one reason might be that most of the capacity of the worldwide fleet of capsizes was fairly young which we can see from Exhibit 5, another reason might be the market demand is strong recently. Market demand is affected by trading volumes, world economy and even trading patterns. For example, in 2003, the Australian and Indian ore exports would begin, the volume would increase, demand for capsize would likely increase as well with the higher trading volumes. Exhibit 5 shows the evidence that demands (Iron ore vessel shipments) and supply (Fleet size) drive the average daily hire rate (Avg. spot rate). Factor 2: World economy The average daily hire rate is also determined by the world economy, especially its basic industries. When the economy is strong, the production and demand for the shipped products increase thus will result a lower hire rate. Conversely, when the world economy is in a recession, the hire rate will be lower. Take an example, the average hire rate declined in 1998 and 1999 because of the effect of 1998 financial crisis. Factor 3: Age of ships Average hire rate is influenced by the age of the ships. If a company s vessels are relatively new than the industry average, it earned a premium in daily hire rate

The Keurig Machine The Keurig Machine We are surrounded by many choices when we start our day, such as what we are going to wear, what we are going to eat, and where we are going to get our source of caffeine from to use to start the day. There are so many choices on where to get that caffeine from, outside coffee shops, an old coffee maker, french press, and lastly the newest invention, the Keurig machine. The Keurig machine itself was invented in 1990, with its first machine manufactured in the 2000 s. (Keurig website) It s very challenging in a modern world like todays, not to be drawn to this neat, and useful device. Looking at it, it can brew a cup of coffee with just the touch of a button in seconds. There isn t a massive glass jar like an old fashioned coffee maker would have, instead just enough room for any mug of choice. There is always a question of, what is a Keurig machine? Well, according to the Keurig website, it is a beverage, brewing system used for both commercials, and home use. Instead of usual coffee machines requiring a switch to flip to brew, and a coffee filter, and filling the glass with water, the Keurig allows a small portion called a K Cup which is used to brew the coffee. • 6. Is Abortion A Crime Or Social Responsibility Essay Abortion: Crime or social responsibility Population control comes in many forms: cancer, famine, A.I.D.S, genocide, war and natural disasters, but never has one been so celebrated and socially accepted before abortion. Abortion has been practiced for hundreds of years and medical technology has advanced accordingly; providing a safer and much more sanitary procedure for the women receiving the operation, but the result remains the same for the defenseless child. Abortion continues to be one of the most debated and country dividing topics this nation has seen. In the recent past, there has been steady movement towards the governmental restrictions on abortion. The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 was one of the greatest victories in Congress related to this topic. The ban restricts an individual form of abortion (partial birth abortion) past 24 weeks from conception (United States Congress). Even though this is a positive step in the right and moral direction, the act needs to be revised. It needs to have the allotted time reduced from 24 weeks to 20 weeks based on new medical research that fetuses can feel pain prior to 24 weeks. Abortion will never become completely illegal (that is just harsh reality), but the restrictions that govern abortions can be fine tuned to incorporate a smaller and more humane window for abortions. Abortion has been a topic of debate for the past two hundred years. During the years shortly after our country s independence, abortion laws ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Stud Terkel s The Good War Stud Terkel s The Good War is a book of oral histories from World War Two that shows many different accounts and aspects of living life in World War Two or actually being on the battlefield. The interviews range from soldiers, admirals, house wives, kids, nurses and many other people in the world experiencing World War Two. There are also people who had firsthand accounts from Russia, England, France and even Japan. I believe this book of memories is a far more effective way of understanding the history of World War Two rather than a book of hard facts and statistics because The Good War demonstrates how firsthand accounts in World War Two makes you feel like you ve been on the battlefield or out on the home front. It creates visual images in your head with the amazing detail that some of the soldiers described. These stories are compelling to read and it draws your attention in. There are limitations of just having a book about oral histories, the person could emphasize and talk about something that was important to them and not others, they could distort the memories to what they want to remember or they could even exaggerate or do the opposite and leave very little detail. Interviews such as Lowell Steward s, Akira Miuri, John H Groove, and Telford Taylor show how effective oral histories can be. Lowell Steward was an African American who enlisted into the United States Airforce. Studs Terkel interviewed him with his longtime friend Colonel Gleed jumping in every once ... Ulrich and Georg are two men that continued to supply their everlasting conflict between their families. Unfortunately, spontaneous events changed their life in the east of the Carpathian Mountains. The process the author managed to keep the story continuing with so much suspicion is the reason why this has become a favorite of mine. The way he kept the suspicion thorough, he used literary terms such as point of view, foreshadowing, and irony. First of all, the point of view the story is written in is third person omniscient, as in the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of the characters. The author begins to use signs ... • 9. Palm Oil Growth And Sustainability Palm Oil Growth in Peru Slows as Land Suitability and Sustainability Take Top Priority Palm is a tree crop suited to cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of the tropical rainforest. From 1999 to 2009, global production more than doubled. Thirty years ago, palm oil accounted for less than 2 percent but now accounts for 37 percent of vegetable oil consumption worldwide, and palm has displaced soy as the world s most important vegetable oil. Palm oil is used as a biofuel, for cooking, and in a wide range of other items, including food products, cosmetics, soaps and detergents. Malaysia and Indonesia produce 85 percent of the world s palm oil. Expansion in these two countries is expected to diminish by 2022, however, as land suitable for additional palm oil production dwindles. As an alternative, developers are looking to other regions for expansion, including Latin America. Estimates suggest that Peru has the second largest area potentially suitable for increased oil palm production within this region. Area Expansion In 2003, the Peruvian government announced that the production of biofuels, including palm oil, would be a priority. Before 2006, palm expansion in Peru was slow and occurred mainly on already cleared land (mostly pastures and secondary growth forests, as opposed to old growth forests.) Between 2006 and 2010, however, area doubled, and about 70 percent of all new palm plantations during this time were established by old growth clearing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Antigone Moral What is the Moral of the Story? What s the overall message that Peter J. Ahrensdorf and Thomas L. Pangle are trying to portray to their audience.? Well, after reading the play and being able to analyze the story a little more in depth, I came up with two probable answers. First, I think the author s trying to describe Antigone as this antagonist, who s against all odds throughout the play. She s a young girl who refuses to let anyone tell her what to do. Her self morals of loyalty and courage outweigh any consequence that s willing to come her way. Antigone ends up pushing her limits by finally forcing Creon to punish her by sticking her in a cave and locking her in there, but in the end Creon changes his. He finally understands what needs to be done; He finally kind of sees eye to eye and allows Antigone to bury her brother. So, in the end, I interpreted this as the author telling us don t give up for what we believe in, no matter how big or small of a stretch it is, because in the ... We also learn that the authority side has an agreement that not traitor to their country should be put to rest on a proper burial. So, this is where we see the two sides clash, the religious belief vs the authority. Now, we can see that there is no meaningful conversation between the two sides to try and seek this dilemma out. Finding a job can be stressful and hard. In order to combat the increasing unemployment rate in New York City, there needs to be more help for students in college, new federal programs that will create new jobs, and lower taxes on businesses. Education is known as a pathway to many new job opportunities, hence creating a need for a postsecondary degree in order to obtain employment. A high school diploma is a prerequisite for many entry level jobs. There are numerous public schools in New York City that offer twelve years of education free to students from all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. After one has graduated from public school, he or she may want to continue his or her education and go on to college. Notice the allusion to the historical episode from Hawthorne s life mentioned by Leavis and Swisher above. In addition to the Quaker incident from the author s past, there is also the tragedy of the witch hanging judge in his past, also mentioned by Leavis and Swisher above. Wagenknecht states in Nathaniel Hawthorne that, of the three Salem women mentioned in Young Goodman Brown, two of these were hanged; all three were accused in 1692 (60). Wagenknecht continues: When the devil speaks of his intimacy with Brown s ancestors and of their cruelty toward Quakers and Indians, Hawthorne is clearly thinking of his own forbears (60). Thus it is seen that the historicity of these short story episodes is well established. A proper, accurate interpretation of Young Goodman Brown depends on the reader s knowledge of an historical occurrence from June of 1692, when a group of important Boston clergymen issued a statement which declared that it was an undoubted and notorious thing, that a demon may, by God s permission, appear, even to ill purposes, in the shape of an innocent, yea, and a virtuous man (60). It digs into the heart of society and reveals the damage that is placed upon individuals who are considered outsiders, even if they manage to achieve success. In this particular play, the audience is able to see how the subtleties of racial bias slowly destroy a person s psyche. Throughout the play, the audience examines Othello cast in both negative and positive positions. Othello is both a great general of the Venetian army as well as, just the moor who used magic to trick his wife, Desdemona, into a marriage. Through harmful racial language Othello is constantly reminded of his outsider status. The destruction of his character through blatant and subtle criticisms cause Othello to doubt his self worth and ultimately leads to his self destruction. Racial otherness and the inconspicuous barrier it creates in this play is the key to understanding the tragedy of Othello. Iago and Roderigo open the play with slanderous statements about the character and personality of Othello that allows the audience to view how society perceives Othello. The language Roderigo and Iago use is openly offensive and can t be mistaken for anything other than hate based on Othello s race. Roderigo refers to Othello as the thick lips as well as a lascivious Moor , during the opening of the play. Both Iago and Roderigo are disgusted with the high rank ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is also the most difficult to understand, given the vast array of different functions spread throughout its mass and the interconnected functionality of its regions that makes subdividing it based on form or function a difficult task. Craddock, et al. (2012), in the article examined, attempt to produce a method for further examining the functional connectivity (FC) of the regions of the brain and subdivide them based on spatial positioning and function. Understanding FC in the brain can significantly improve understanding of many brain functions and the effect of outside stimulus of various parts of the brain. This examination will only be able to take place by creating an accurate whole brain atlas. This creation of a whole brain atlas, or a map of the brain separating it into regions of interest (ROI) based positioning and/or function, has typically been done via fMRI analysis of the brain combined with an anatomically based mapping procedure. This study seeks to use fMRI technology combined with an algorithm to create voxel clusters or ROI s that optimize both spatial coherence and homogeneity in regards to the FC of the individual ROIs that can closely match of the results of a voxel wise analysis, while improving on computation power required and interpretability.
