Mexican Immigrants And Illegal Immigrants Essay
Current Issues
Many American citizens are responsible for illegal Mexican immigrants determination to enter the
United States because numerous American citizen s revenue money, drugs, and fame as a lifestyle
which makes America the center of attraction for illegal immigrants to cross the border. It is clear that
most Mexican immigrants transport an abundant amount of money payments and drugs across the
U.S. border in return for more money so gangs and cartels can earn a recognized status through money
and respect. Citizens of the U.S. have impacted and altered the American social economic status in a
negative way. Most Mexican immigrants travel north in groups to cross the United States border to
achieve their goal; live a better life so they can support themselves and their family. Although there
are U.S. customs and border patrol agencies that have a duty to protect and secure the border from
illegal aliens entering the U.S., some still successfully cross and enter the U.S. Mexican border
illegally. In the book The Devil s Highway, Urrea explains the Rules of the Game where illegal
immigrants experience a traitorous journey depending on their guides. Their country and group leader
fail to successfully support the group and citizens of Mexico. Both sides of the border (Mexico and
America) should accept responsibility for illegal transportation of weapons. The act of illegal weapon
trafficking is a major crime for the U.S. Mexican border. Border patrol agencies and

Analysis Of Woman In A Purple Coat
The title of the Artwork I chose is Woman in a Purple Coat. The artist for the artwork I chose is Henri
Matisse. The date of the artwork is 1937. The dimensions of Woman in a Purple Coat are 81 x 65.2
cm. The location where the artwork is located is The Audrey Jones Beck Building, 223 BECK
GALLERIES. The medium the artist used was oil on canvas. The artwork was vibrant colors with
bold patterns. The artist was very precise with the variety of lines he used. He mostly used his brush to
create the artwork. The period of Woman in a Purple Coat is expressionism because in the artwork he
expressed himself through the contrast, expressive colors and confidence it reflected as she is
portrayed sitting. The genre for Woman in a Purple Coat is portrait because it portrays Matisse s
assistant and companion Lydia Delectorskaya.
To describe the artwork Woman in a Purple Coat by Henri Matisse, the viewer has to be open to
expression. In the artwork there is a woman, wearing purple pointy shoes, green pants with white
faded stripes, a V shape white shirt with grey lines, a long purple coat with white stripes and four
black strips at the front to button the coat, a pearl necklace and another yellow long necklace. She is
sitting with confidence with open arms on a vibrant two tone one side yellow and other side green
couch. Sitting on the couch in a corner with a yellow flower arrangement on a pink and white vase
with some fruit on a table next to her on the right. There is a magazine laying on the floor on top of a
gray rug with black stripes above a black square marble floor. It looks as if she was reading intensely
before being interrupted. She has her right foot behind her left, confidently waiting to be interviewed.
The walls contrast with each other giving light and darkness to the portrait. On one side the wall is
black with gray flowers outlined in red. On the other side the wall is green with black curvy streaks

School Is East Campus At Rappahannock Hall
Purpose:
The goal of this proposal is recommend that the school makes east campus while including
Rappahannock hall to no longer be dry residence hall for those twenty one in age and older to try and
decrease the high DUI rate here at CNU.
Summary:
CNU student currently must go off campus to consume alcohol no matter the age leaving them to find
a ride or most of the time, drive. This leaves the students at a high risk of drinking too much and then
driving home from said off campus location. As a twenty one year old individual the law gives you the
right to drink and as college students no matter your affiliation or social openness students will drink.
Some students may end up drinking more than others but in the end a student will drink in his/her
college career and CNU forces students to do this off campus making things less safe for the
individual. At CNU they have such a strict dry residence hall regulation that it is possible that one time
you get in trouble you are kicked out of school. Due to the regulations students go off campus to a bar
or a friends house to consume alcohol. Most survey recipients say they often drive to said location to
drink and then because it is most convenient drive themselves home. Most students reported that when
they received their DUI that they were blowing between .09 .11 slightly above the legal limit but still a
DUI. The students when surveyed most said they would have rather just drank in their room so they
did not have to go

Art versus Pornography Essay
Art versus Pornography
Her head rests on her left knee, with her hands clasped on her ankle. Locks of hair are thrown about in
an auburn blaze. Her tight rosy lips are as red as her cheeks. Her dark blue eyes reveal a half
seductive, half submissive look. Her legs are in a subdued spread eagle formation, leaving her crotch
area quite visible. Her white panties leave little to the imagination. The sexual overtones are more than
just a coincidence. Suspend your imagination for a minute and ask yourself if the description formed
in your mind a work of art or, instead, a photograph of softcore pornography, found in such magazines
as Hustler or Playboy? Where this description is taken from will be disclosed later, ... Show more

The problem unfolds itself with two simple definitions. Webster describes art as creative work
generally, or its principles; the making or doing of things that have form and beauty. He defines
pornography as writings, pictures, etc. intended to arouse sexual desires or the production of such
writings, pictures, etc. To elucidate these definitions further, art primarily focuses upon form and
beauty, pornography on sexual arousal. The line between a pornographic photo and a work of art, is
the way the body is presented. Pornography is concerned with titillation and feelings of lust, while art
is concerned with beauty for aesthetic purposes. In a pornographic photo the body is considered naked
whereas in a work of art, it is considered nude. Nakedness is usually equated with arousal, whereas a
nude is a higher classification of an unclothed body, it does not necessarily imply lust or titillation. In
describing someone coming out of the shower, one would say That person is naked rather than That
person is nude because the nude is considered a form of art. The distinction between naked and nude
is aesthetic versus pleasure. Art serves to please the eye, but this is not its only redeeming quality. Art
is intellectual as well as pleasing. Robert Mapplethorpe s photos of the male nude are art not simply
because of the form of the body is beautiful, but because of the

A Laboratory Report on Body Composition
This is a laboratory report on measuring body composition. The aim of the laboratory report was to
compare two different field methods skinfolds and bioimpedance analysis to measure body
composition and evaluate the most reliable doubly indirect method to measure body composition. A
number of studies such as Kitano,T have shown a strong correlation between skinfold and
bioelectrical impedance analysis and tend to have an average body fat difference of less than 0.6.
Body composition is a combination of numerous components these are: Fat mass, fat free mass,
Adipose tissue mass, Lean body mass and relative body fat. Fat mass is defined as all the extractable
lipids from adipose and other tissue. Fat free mass is all the left over chemicals and tissues, including
water, muscle, bone, connective tissue and internal organs. Adipose tissue mass are connective tissue
that work as the major storage site for fat. Lean body mass is everything in the body apart from body
fat. Lean body mass includes organs, blood, bones, muscles and skin. Relative body fat is the ratio
between fat mass and total body mass. Body composition is measured in many ways. Anthropometry
refers to human body composition measurement. The most accurate and direct form of measuring
body composition is cadaver dissection which involves dissecting a dead human body and determining
the fat percentage. In vivo or indirect, doubly indirect methods do not measure body composition
directly, however predict it from

Writing Techniques of Emily Dickinson Essay
Emily Dickinson is one of the most interesting female poets of the nineteenth century. Every author
has unique characteristics about him/her that make one poet different from another, but what cause
Emily Dickinson to be so unique are not only the words she writes, but how she writes them. Her style
of writing is in a category of its own. To understand how and why she writes the way she does, her
background has to be brought into perspective. Every poet has inspiration, negative or positive, that
contributes not only to the content of the writing itself, but the actual form of writing the author uses
to express his/her personal talents. Emily Dickinson is no different. Her childhood and adult
experiences and culture form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The controversy surrounding Emily Dickinson is her odd lifestyle and her tendencies to be somewhat
of a recluse. She is sometimes considered abnormal because she does things differently from most
others. She spends much of her life dressed in white and withdrawn from much of society. Of course,
her peers take this negatively, but what they do not understand is that her being so private is more of a
meditation to her, instead of a hiding. She just wants to escape the pressures she feels are normally
required of women. She does not want to be a servant to sick and elderly. She feels she has more
potential for her mind to grow, and those obligations would just be hindrances to her writing
(McQuade 1255). Her childhood and her staying out of society as an adult, along with many other
aspects known and not known, influence her poems and the style in which she goes about writing the
works. Her techniques of writing are completely different from any other writer, whether prose or
poetry. Dickinson composes her phrases by marking them off with a dash, placing a space before and
after. This small maneuver places more emphasis on her impress of the mind in its analysis of
experience (McQuade 1256). Her slant thymes and unique form of expression produces more of an
oddness to the audience.
One of Emily Dickinson s unique forms of writing is her excessive use

Saint Augustine was an early Christian scholar and philosopher, whose works affected the
advancement of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. He was the Bishop of Hippo which is
situated in Africa. He is seen as a great leader amongst the most critical Church Fathers in Western
Christianity for his works in the Patristic Era. Among his most essential works are The City of God
and Confessions. Confessions is the name of a personal work, comprising of 13 books, by St.
Augustine of Hippo. The work of Augustine talks to youth directly about the struggles and his change

We will see the different incidents and learn from authors struggles and how he overcame the
situation. I feel in order to understand what author is trying to say from his text, we need to understand
the narrative of his confessions. St. Augustine is writing these texts as a confession to God. And it is
so beautiful to see how openly he writes his confession, I mean he opens his heart out there, no
wonder it was encouraging for early church leaders. I love how he says in book two, sixteenth year I
purpose now to set down my past wickedness and the carnal corruption of my soul, not for love of
them but that I may love Thee, O my God. I do it for love of Thy love, passing again in bitterness of
remembrance over my most evil ways that Thou mayest thereby grow lovelier to me Author is
confessing that he wants to turn away from his wicked path and he want to live a righteous life, He
wants to do it for God s love, he wants to clean his wicked soul and leave those wicked paths. St.
Augustine is confessing how he did not keep the count of his friendship, he believed in love and to be
loved, but when he grew up things changed he got involved into lustful ways and forgot the real
meaning of friendship. He was blinded by the pride and was tempted which took him away from His
God. He says I should have listened more closely to these words and made myself a eunuch for the

Perfectionism Vs Perfectionism
The types of exercise(s) and exercise behaviours an individual possesses influence how they view
themselves and how much they enjoy the activity. Individuals participating in an exercise regime who
strive for flawlessness and set high performance standards for themselves is known as perfectionism.
The two dimensions of perfectionism are self oriented perfectionism (SOP) and socially prescribed
perfectionism(SPP). SOP is requiring perfection from oneself, while SPP is perceiving that others are
requiring perfection of oneself. These two dimensions have been studied together by using a 2x2
model and the subtypes are: non perfectionism (low SPP and low SOP), pure SPP (high SPP and low
SOP), pure SPP (low SPP and high SOP) and mixed perfectionism (high SPP and high SOP).
Perfectionism has a powerful role in exercise, and researchers have found that greater exercise
behaviours in individuals are associated with more perfectionist traits (Longbottom, 2007). A study by
Gulker, Laskis and Kuba (2001) compared perfectionist traits among excessive and non excessive
exercisers. They wanted to see if excessive exercisers scored higher on obsessive compulsiveness,
body dissatisfaction and drive in thinness than non exercisers. The findings supported the hypothesis
that excessive exercisers had higher rates on measures of perfectionism. This study supports the
impact perfectionism has on the individual in an exercise context.

What Is The Seventh Chapter Of Capitalism And Freedom By...
Inspired by lectures given in 1956 and compiled for publication in 1962, Milton Friedman s
Capitalism and Freedom addresses important modern economic issues ranging from the distribution of
income to the role of government in education (Friedman vii). According to The Times Literary
Supplement, Capitalism and Freedom was one of the most influential books published since the war
(TLS). In the seventh chapter of Capitalism and Freedom, Friedman addresses the role capitalism and
economic freedom plays in the reduction of discrimination against individuals belonging to particular
religious, social, and racial minority groups (Friedman 108). Friedman s argument concerning the
power of capitalism and economic power is supported particularly in the increased mobility of African
Americans following World War I and II despite the temporary interruption displayed by collectivist
trends following 1945 (Friedman 11). African Americans, with newfound economic power, were able
to curtail coercive political power held by whites. However, Friedman fails to properly address the
chain of events which allowed for the establishment political freedom in the African American
community. Despite economic freedom granted following emancipation, African Americans were
unable to translate economic freedom to political freedom because laws in place to protect civil
liberties were not enforced. World War I provided unprecedented economic opportunities for African
Americans. Labor shortages provide

Why Handguns Should Not Be Banned
Handguns can be effortlessly disguised, so they are the weapon of decision for individuals who utilize
them for self preservation. Sadly, they are additionally the weapon of selection for crooks. Since
handguns are simple for delinquents to take, handguns are easily accessed on the black market; this
makes handguns appealing for crooks. The majority of crimes involving guns are committed with the
usage of a handgun; this is a serious issue in America today. Although most would concur that
something must be done, nobody appears to have the appropriate response now. Some weapon control
supporters trust that totally restricting handguns is the most ideal approach to secure citizens. Be that
as it may, restricting handguns neglects to ensure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the point when an individual is mindful and prepared properly, handguns are effortlessly the best
type of self preservation, and a handgun ban removes this alternative from them. John Stossel (2008),
clarifies that laws against firearms are truly laws against self preservation, and required weapon free
zones are in reality free wrongdoing zones. Handgun bans won t prevent criminals from obtaining
weapons; they will, be that as it may, keep a well behaved resident from purchasing a firearm for self
preservation (pg.21). While he might be somewhat extraordinary in expressing that laws against
weapons are laws against self protection, he makes a decent point. Forbidding handguns leaves
subjects with less self protection choices. At the point when individuals are stripped of the best type of
self preservation, they are helpless, and this is a major issue. Stossel is accurate about firearm bans
keeping decent citizens from utilizing weapons in self protection, and this gives the preferred
standpoint to the criminal. A well behaved citizen won t overstep the law and claim a handgun in the
event that they are restricted, yet a criminal will. In the event that an individual tries to rob a bank or
murder somebody, he or she is not going to be stressed over breaking a firearm mandate.

the first intermediate, diethyl n butylmalonate; while IR and NMR were used to characterize the final
product, caproic acid.
Reactions, Mechanism and Theory
Caproic acid a.k.a n hexanoic acid is a carboxylic acid derived from hexane which has the general
formula C5H11COOH. It is a colorless oily liquid with a really pungent odor associated with goats.

The Consequences Of Space Travel And Exploration
1. Space travel and exploration have many benefits, however, there are also some possible
consequences. Space travel is worth it for many reasons. Just like the ocean; space is infinite and there
is another world to discover so to speak. There are so many things that we don t know about the ocean
and space. For one, space is a mystery containing several artifacts, entities, and possible species that
could have the ability to open doors to a whole new universe. There could potentially be life on
another planet or even a planet similar to earth that can support life. However, mankind will never
know unless we opt to explore the kingdom of space.
2. Reasons why some naysayers believe there shouldn t be more space travel is the cost. It costs $500
$700 million every time a space shuttle flies. Additionally, it costs space tourists $20 million to fly to
the space station. Some will ask why spend money on space exploration when there are so many other
things that should take precedence. The Global Positioning System (GPS) was built in 1978 which
cost $12 billion to build it. The Galileo which is Europe s GPS has an estimated cost of $6.3 billion.
The Apollo Space Program started in 1961 1972, and the total cost of the program was $109 billion.
As you can see, space travel is extremely expensive. In addition to the costs of the programs and the
shuttles, is the salary that is paid to the Astronauts. In 1969 Neil Armstrong was paid $20,000 for his
trip to space. In 2012 Astronauts were paid $125,000 for their trip to space so the cost has increased
immensely.
3. Another possible reason that people don t agree with space exploration is that if there are alien
lifeforms, there might be a chance that they will try to harm the human species. The famed physicist
Stephen Hawking is one who believes this to be the case. This is what he had to say on the topic: Such
advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets
they could reach. This statement was mentioned in 2010 on an episode of Into the Universe with
Stephen Hawking. He also stated that Alien civilization would have no problem wiping out the human
race the way a human might wipe out a colony of ants. We

How Is The Bourgeoisie Related To The Rise Of Capitalism
Although Karl Marx criticized the private property and exploitation of labor in the bourgeoisie
governed society, he contended that Capitalism was progressive in history. (p.67)The capitalist had
indeed played a revolutionary part in mode of production, of exchange, and relation of production.
The epoch of capitalism set a consolidated material basis by enhancing the productive force. The rise
of bourgeoisie propels novel and effective modes of production and improves people s living standard.
The bourgeoisie put up a manufacturing system with unskilled worker. The division of labor in such
system allows more workers to do easier tasks and thus increasing the commodity production, when
the traditional feudal economics could not satisfy the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The economic power eventually developed into political power that supported the bourgeoisie to
replace the outdated aristocracy. Marx believed the instability of society came from the
incompatibility of the massive productive forces and its obsolete relation of production.(p.70)
Capitalism emerged in the age of feudalism, and was itself adapted to the feudal society well enough
in the early stage; however, having constantly improved its modes of production and of exchange, at
certain stage, the political and economic characters of feudal society impede the development of
productive forces. Therefore, capitalism began to set up a constitution to replace the outmoded rule
and furthering production. Therefore, French Revolution was a representation of the middle class rebel
against the feudalism to change the relation of production. The bourgeoisie, although out of
themselves profits, endeavor to terminate the feudal, patriarchal and idyllic relation (67) and therefore
removing natural superiors and improving equality in society. In this sense, capitalism is more
advanced than

Dueling In Germany Essay
Dueling may sound familiar among aristocratic men in 19th Century Germany, but is it a must to be
done when one men feel offended by another? Whether with bloodshed or not, dueling was seen by
society as the only way to ensure harmonious reconciliation between the men involved in a dispute
with each other (Frevet, 167). However, it is questionable as to whether dueling would result in the
superficial reconciliation if the cause was a serious provocation like adultery (Frevet, 176). In
addition, dueling was seen as a way to prevent war, promote self discipline as well as masculinity. As
the outcome, only those intellectually educated, or commonly distinguished as upper middle class and

Drawing from the case of the duel in Kessin, Innstetten s settlement on his challenge to Crampas
weighed more on the substantial cultural norm at the time. This is evident when he conversed with his

have regard for that larger whole, we re dependent on it, beyond a doubt. If it were a matter of living
in isolation, i could let it go (Fontane Chapter 27 ). As a man of divine honor and loyalty, for
Innstetten, the thought of ignoring society worried him more as it was seemingly unacceptable to live

Innstetten showed respect to the man that may not deserve it, as he put the both of them on the

Role Of Fate In Oedipus The King
The theme of Fate (deed of the gods) versus free will (personal choices and actions) is ever present in
Greek drama. It is the concept that the lead character of a drama has no control over his Fate, which is
preconceived and inevitable. On the other hand, it has been argued that the character did have a choice
in the matter, and ultimately, it s their choices that lead to their destiny being fulfilled. In this essay, I
will be exploring the role of the gods in Sophocles Oedipus the King, and whether or not they are to
blame for his tragic downfall.
Oedipus the King begins with the audience gaining the knowledge that Thebes is in a state of disarray.
This, according to the oracle of Delphi, is due to the fact that the previous king, Laius, has not been
avenged, and that the only way Thebes will return to its previous glory is if the king s murderer takes
account for his actions (Sophocles). Oedipus, the noble and intellectual man that he is, makes a
promise to find whoever was responsible for the death of Laius, and make them atone for their sins. ...

And yet he has been led, either by blind chance or cruel gods, to commit the basest of crimes. All of
this suggests...that human beings are playthings of chance or indifferent gods and hence that it is
impossible for human beings to live nobly or to win the favour and protection of the gods
(Ahrensdorf, 2009).
In conclusion, I believe that the fates played a greater role than we are lead to believe, but I also
believe that the decisions made by all the characters played a pivotal role in the outcome of the drama.
The characters were most definitely given a freedom of choice when it came to almost every decision
they made, but the fates definitely put obstacles in their way, which would inevitably cause them to be
swayed to make rash

Heroin Negative Effects
What are the negative effects of Heroin usage? Heroin is a very addicting drug that if abused bad
enough, can be very hard to control. The user can learn how to control the thoughts or behaviors that
may have once led to the craving of the drug.
Heroin is a short acting opioid. In other words, it takes effect rapidly, however, it leaves the
bloodstream quickly. The NHTSA estimates that heroin withdrawal symptoms start within six to
twelve hours of the last dose and it lasts five to ten days in total. There are dozens of symptoms
Heroin causes. Symptoms may only last a week approximately, however symptoms can be severe.
Some of these include bad teeth, cold sweats, weakening of the immune system, coma, loss of
memory, etc. There are a collection of other symptoms but those are the most common.
Withdrawal from heroin is not generally considered life threatening on its own. However, some of the
medical and psychological symptoms may have complications. For someone who did not abuse heroin
in massive doses, withdrawal may be more tempered and not last as long. When heroin is abused, a
rush of pleasure occurs, and when it is removed, the opposite effect happens.
Heroin binds to opioid receptors, which increases chemicals in the brain that are responsible for
feelings of pleasure. Heroin is an opioid drug that suppresses some of the functions of the central
nervous system. For example, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and temperature regulation.
Someone with a history of mental illnesses or addiction to other drugs may be more likely to become
more dependent on the drug taste. The longer someone uses heroin, how it was abused, and how much
was taken each time will all be factors in how dependent the brain and body are to the drug. In the past
decade, the CDC reports that abuse has doubled for Americans aged eighteen to twenty five. In 2013,
it is estimated that eighteen thousand two hundred people have died from a heroin overdose, which is
close to four times the number of heroin related overdose fatalities in 2002. Heroin may be a cheaper
alternative to powerful and addictive drugs such as Oxycontin and Vicodin. CNN has reported that
close to half of injection heroin users abused a

What Is The Stress Strain Curves Of The Pure SR And SR...
The stress strain curves of the pure SR and SR composites are presented in Figure 3(a), indicating that
the stresses at 100% strain and 300% strain increase with increasing content of BT particles. The main
reason for the increased stress at definite elongation is the reinforcing effect of the inorganic particles
[38]. In addition, the elongation at break of the SR composites decreased after adding BT particles,
attributed to the BT particles acting as physical links, thus limiting the flexibility of macromolecular
silicone. Because of increasing interfacial areas between the BT particles and SR matrix, the number
of physical links increased significantly in the system, decreasing the elongation at break of the SR
composites with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two factors can be used to explain this phenomenon. The first one is the BT particles interact strongly
with the macromolecular SR, thus restricting the mobility of the molecular chains. The second one is
the polymer chain entanglement limits the movement of polymer chains [38]. The interface
polarization will increase the dielectric constant as well as the dielectric loss of the composites. As
shown in Figure 4(b), the dielectric loss tangent of the BT/SR composites is larger than that of the
pure SR at low frequency. In addition, the dielectric loss displays a sharp decrease at a low frequency
(lower than 1 kHz), caused by the DC leakage current. However, the electrode polarization can be
excluded as there is no simultaneous decrease in the dielectric constant and dielectric loss with
increasing frequency [42]. However, because of the weak polarization of the silicone matrix, the
dielectric loss tangent of all the samples is lower than 0.015. The low dielectric loss means just a little
energy dissipation during actuation, a big advantage for dielectric elastomer.
The electromechanical performance of the SR composites was tested using circular actuators.
Considering the safety and utility, the loaded electric field on the samples was 50 kV/mm. The
actuated strains of the BT/SR composites are shown in Figure 5(a). With increasing electric field, the
actuated strain of the samples increases significantly, because it is proportional to the square

Simon As A Christ Figure In William Golding s Lord Of The...
In the novel Lord of The Flies, William Golding portrayed Simon as a Christ figure. Simon and Jesus
led parallel lives. Simon s appearance seemed to resemble that of Jesus Christ s. Simon picked fruit

Simon received messages from the Lord of The Flies while meditating. Simon also tried to illuminate
the children about the myth of the beast and dies a horrific death at the hands of the people he loved.
He received an almost angelic burial. His death marks the completion of the destruction of the island s
civilization. All of these events allude to Jesus s life events, according to the scriptures in the Bible.

Criminal Liability To Commit Credit Card Fraud

What s The Price Of A Bottle Of Water, Or A Ready Meal...
What s the price of a bottle of water, or a ready meal from the corner shop? One pound? Two ninety
nine? The real cost is probably more than you realise. That s because our addiction to plastic is
responsible for one of the worst ecological disasters of the modern age: the build up of plastic in the
world s oceans. Environmental activists have been warning of this ticking bomb for years and
governments around the world are now starting to act. But there are also things that we can all do at
home and in our lives to reduce the damage. THE FACTS The amount of plastic produced worldwide
is estimated to be around 300 million tonnes each year and between 1.5 and 4.5 per cent of that ends
up in the ocean. Were it all to wash up on shore, it would cover every foot of coastline in the world. As
a result, the ratio of plastic to plankton in the Mediterranean is thought to be about 1:2, one in three
species of marine mammals have been found entangled in litter, fish in the North Pacific ingest about
12 to 24 thousand tonnes of plastic every year, and tiny fragments of plastic have even been found in
the arctic ice shelf. Each one of these facts is shocking in its own right, and a tarnish on the human
race. MISCONCEPTIONS It is easy to imagine that you don t contribute to plastic in the ocean. All
the plastic you use goes into the bin and that is dealt with by the council, who surely don t put it in the
ocean. But the truth is that around 80 per cent of rubbish that ends up in the

The Time Management Procedures I Have Developed
Two time management procedures I have developed in my internship are keeping a weekly agenda
and using a monthly calendar to keep track of larger tasks. Each Linbeck employee is asked to keep up
with a PPC (promised percent complete) agenda. At the end of the week, you are expected to enter the
meetings and tasks into a standard form. As you complete the tasks throughout the following week,
you check off the line items. At the close of business on Friday, you are asked to grade your PPC. Any
tasks that were not completed are marked as such, and you are required to explain why the task was
not finished as promised. This practice gets me to work on only promising tasks that can be managed

Utilizing a white board in your office promotes a community atmosphere that allows for productive
conversation.
The main problem I have encountered is planning for the future. In the business world, it is impossible
to tell what problems will come up. On any given day your priorities can change from that you have
planned. It is important to recognize the highest priorities and to tackle those items first so that you
can get to the items of lower priority before they become critical.
I get to work each morning at 6:30. The first thing I do is check my PPC, email, and outstanding RFIs
(requests for information) and submittals. Shortly afterwards I go to a daily engineer huddle where
there is a discussion of each engineer s planned tasks for the day. If there is time after the meeting, I
like to walk the jobsite in order to get a feel for the work of all the disciplines onsite. Next, I get to
work on the promised tasks for the day. Throughout the day, I am in and out of the jobsite office and
visiting the work in the field to keep up with progress and make note of any issues.
The three types of meetings I am a part of are OAC (owner, architect, contractor), preconstruction, and
BIM (Building Information Modeling) coordination meetings. There is an OAC meeting on the first
and third Tuesday of every month. Our architect flies in from California on the morning of the

The importance of understanding cultural, ethnic and gender differences by managers and
professionals in a business setting is essential to make the work environment comfortable. In every
culture there are basic standards of thinking, and acting and these cultural differences strongly
influence workplace values and communication. What may be considered acceptable and natural in

When there is a commonality the gap in the bridge can be closed.
Having a commonality will allow the gap in cultural, gender and ethnical differences to merge
together. Example, there is an older lady that work with me who is very quiet and she is from Africa.
Several coworkers whisper about her, stating she s evil, she s scary, and she s a witch . I started talking
to this lady and I enjoyed our conversation. This woman has so much wisdom that I felt like a little
child sitting at the feet of my Parents. This woman stated I know what people are saying about me and
told me she s not a witch and that she doesn t get involved in other people business and that she sit and
observe quietly and pray when she s not working. This woman is now known as the go to person if
you need prayer. Because of this woman being different from what was considered normal she was

between groups. To do so, we have to develop certain skills and abilities. The first is to examine our

As a manager one would have to examine their views and cultural biases before trying to implement
cultural literacy to their employees. Once managers and professionals become culturally literate then
the cultural bridges at work can be formed. This can happen by

Building Elements Of A Successful Team
Proactive Planning
In meetings requested by managers, various agendas are discussed and explained. Of them, the plan to
establish self directed and high performance teams is spotlighted. The company needs to establish a
team that combines the different talent and work performance of its employees in order to accomplish
a particular goal and purpose. Concerns arise when some of the company s managers are experiencing
some teams that are self directed and high performing, while others are not. Therefore, discussions are
held which aim at familiarizing all employees with what it means to be self directed and high
performing.
In the process, they brainstorm on ideas like building elements of a successful team. If a manager has
not fulfilled the demand of having this type of team, they are focused on as needing more aid in
successfully moving forward towards the goal. At the time, those who are struggling are expected to
learn from those who are doing well in order for them to identify the mistakes and how to correct
them. In team building, through the help of leadership within the company, a team of people
collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal. (Midura Glover, 2005) In this case, leaders
are managers and they make decisions, clarify goals, build commitment practices and coach their
team. Team building is very important as it enhances collaboration. It also creates a greater likelihood
of commitment to the company by its employees and the overall communication

The Art of Brand Naming Essay
Do you ever like a brand, and everything that they have to offer, bit then you think to yourself what a

hurdle to overcome if botched. The art and science of great naming is absolutely about balancing a

Companies should focus on domain name availability, descriptiveness, trademark strength, originality,

Stewardship In The Bible
There will be eternal reward and consequences beyond residency in heaven. The judgment time is
called the Bema Seat of Christ or judgment seat of Christ. That day of reckoning is described in the
following three passages: 1 Corinthians 3:12 15, 2 Corinthians 5:10, and Romans 14:10 12. These
passages include a reckoning of more than just financial issues. The above truth is a sobering fact of
Scripture. If Millennials were to internalize these values, it would create a sense of careful calculations
in all matters of life.
After determining that God owns all things and that Christians are accountable to God, it is important
to clarify how the word steward is used in the Bible. In biblical times a steward was a trusted person
given responsibility for someone else s possessions which may include care for livestock, immediate
family members, or servants. , A steward s duty was to manage on behalf of the master with the
purpose to increase the master s resources or influence. Finally, it implied some form of judgment or
reckoning to reward the steward if he was faithful in the management of the entrusted resources.
Often, stewardship is thought of only in terms of finances, but the Bible teaches that stewardship is a
far greater concept, involving how we respond with all of our life. For the purposes of this dissertation
topic, the Project Director acknowledges stewardship includes more than finances but will focus
predominantly on financial stewardship. If the project

As stated above, the league has commented in response to the Thursday Night Football argument,
saying the near future fails in agreeing with elimination, or even consideration of the suggested

discussed, the opposite side argues simple facts saying many factors are viable in the recent drop of
television ratings this past season, including the attention drawn to the 2016 presidential race (Barrabi

improvement is promising as of the conclusion of the presidential election (Barrabi np). Consequently,

Analysis Of Gauthier ( 1987 )
Gauthier (1987) argues that while moral constraints are necessary in certain cases, such as in the
presence of market failures, they are not required in a perfectly competitive market (PCM). The PCM
is defined by the absence of non pecuniary externalities and public goods, perfect information,
certainty and mutual unconcern. In a PCM utility maximisation leads to a Pareto efficient outcome.
Since this allocation is efficient and achieved through free exchange, Gauthier (1987) concludes that
the PCM must be a morally free zone. Morality would result in a failure to reach optimality. However,
this essay will propose three different scenarios in which even PCMs should have moral constraints
placed upon them, and therefore cannot be morally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gauthier (1987:96) tries to get round this by arguing that in a PCM no one is affected, whether
beneficially or harmfully, by any market activity to which she has not chosen to be party. If this were
true it would rule out pecuniary externalities, but they obviously occur in PCMs. If Gauthier still
wanted to include the exclusion of pecuniary externalities, then he would undermine his own
argument that as long as a market is perfectly competitive it should be a morally free zone.
Nevertheless they are obviously important to consider when determining how morality should interact
with markets as they can have a significant impact on people s lives. Hausman (1992) uses the
example of the introduction of mechanical weaving looms to highlight this. The introduction of
mechanical looms would make the weaving industry more efficient, but would diminish the value of
the human and material capital of the hand loomers who had previously worked in the industry and as
a result would destroy their way of life. Defends of markets as morally free zones may respond with
the fact that PCMs should ensure these individuals are redirected to a new position. However, even if
they do manage to get a new job there is no guarantee that they will receive the

Charles Darwin s Theory Of Evolution
In January of 1925, the State of Tennessee passed a law called The Butler Bill that prohibited any
teacher within the State of Tennessee to teach any theory that denies the story of the Divine Creation
of man and that man descended from a lower order of animals. 1 Fundamentalism was the basis of
The Butler Bill. Fundamentalism is the belief in the literal interpretation of religious texts. In June, a
Tennessee high school substitute teacher named John Scopes was accused of teaching Charles Darwin
s theory of evolution to students. The theory of evolution was a hypothesis that species survived
through natural selection , meaning the adaption of species evolving to better themselves to a
changing and threatening environment and that man evolved from apes. His theory that Scopes taught
was completely against the Butler law. Even though Scopes teaching of evolution violated the Butler

Ysef Komunyakaa s Impact On The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War proved to be a milestone in United States s history as it greatly impacted many
American lives. Not only did it affect the lives of Americans, but it also affected the lives of the
Vietnamese, more specifically the women of that culture. There are millions of stories being told to
this day today about the Vietnam War itself. But there are no stories about the Vietnamese women who
were brutally sexually assaulted being told or any stories of the U.S. soldiers killing hundreds of
innocent lives. Unfortunately, the media tends to stray away from the honest truth, especially when it
comes to wars, which explains why we don t know of this pressing information. The author of
Ideologies of Forgetting: Rape in The Vietnam War , Gina Weaver mentions in her book, [the] rape of
Vietnamese women by American troops during the US invasion of Vietnam was a widespread ,
everyday occurrence that was essentially condoned , even encouraged, by the military (Weaver).
During the war on March 16th, 1968, the My Lai Massacre was taken place in Vietnam. It was a tragic
event as many Vietnamese women and children were murdered. Yusef Komunyakaa, an African
American poet who served as a correspondent in the war authored Dien Cai Dau, . Dien Cai Dau is a
collection of poems that describes Komunyakaa s experiences as a journalist throughout his time in
Vietnam. A poem of his that really caught my attention was Re creating the Scene , which describes
the problems regarding the

Parenting Styles And Styles Of Parenting
Parenting Styles My term paper will discuss the 4 Styles of Parenting, including; the styles of
parenting that we as single parents and couple parents may identify with. My paper will also discuss
how each parenting styles impacts our children, if it works and the style of parenting that s most
effective. Authoritative Parenting Style The Authoritative Style of Parenting, children are expected to
follow the rules and guidelines that a parent with this style of parenting has put into place. This type of
parents are responsive to their children and willing (eager) to listen to questions. Authoritative parents
gives reasonable demands, consistent limits, expresses warmth and affection which every child, I
think, yearns for. Rules are set and reasons behind the rules are explain to ensure that the child (ren)
understands. They re also willing to listen to the child s feelings when setting these limits. Parents
with this style of parenting are flexible and willing to bend the rules in certain cases for example,
allowing the child to stay up an hour pass the normal bedtime, so that the child can finish watching
television. When a child (ren) fail to meet the expectations that an Authoritative Parent is more of a
nurturing and forgiving parent rather than punishing. These types of parents uses rewards, praises, and
positive consequences for good behaviors. Baurmind (1971, 1991) suggests that these parents, monitor
and impart clear standards for their children s conduct. They

Offshore drilling in the USA Is offshore drilling a risk for environmental destruction? The subject oil
and gas as energy resources needs to be analyzed with different option on which way to go on drilling

There are no rebates for oil drilling in the USA. The best resolution is to shift away from fossil fuels to
alternative energy. So far this needs to be completed within the resulting ten years, to prevent more
damages. This would be a method to walk away from fossil fuel, and it will still create Jobs in a
healthy environment without destruction in the long run. There is still a period to walk away from
fossil fuel towards clean energy. Most people feel helpless because oil companies and cooperation s
are in control over the energy sources to make changes, they have the saying and financial control to
make changes. I believe the risk is great on offshore drilling towards destruction on shore and beaches

The Benefits Of Methamphetamine
Methamphetamine is a highly addictive central nervous stimulant that induces the release of serotonin,
dopamine, and norepinephrine. Its side effects include increased alertness, increased activity, high
blood pressure, decreased appetite, euphoria, psychosis, and severe dental disease (Ravenel et al. 229).
In 1919 methamphetamine was synthesized for the first time and was utilized for treatment of
attention deficit disorder, to enhance physical performance, anorectic effects, increase wakefulness,
and as a general mood enhancer (Padilla and Ritter 148). The manufacturing of methamphetamine
became strictly regulated by The Controlled Substance Act of 1970, however, this didn t stop the
manufacturing of meth on the streets using simple and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is vital to determine current use of methamphetamine and refer the patient to a rehabilitation center
before any elective treatment. Meth users may be hesitant to admit drug usage, so dental professionals
should express concern for the state of their oral health while being nonjudgmental in their
questioning. Reviewing basic oral hygiene and the etiology of periodontal disease with the patient is
recommended. Restorations with conventional means in patients who will continue to use meth is
contradictory as the decay will recur underneath the material. Instead, Kelsch recommends sealing the
area with fluoride and a xylitol releasing fluoride varnish and/or glass ionomer sealant and surface
protectant which will still benefit the patient during active drug use (24). Stimulation of saliva can be
achieved by prescribing medications to increase saliva flow such as pilocarpine or cevimeline, as well
as advising the patient to chew sugarless gum. A neutral fluoride is recommended to aid in the
remineralization of tooth structure and buffering the oral pH (Goodchild and Donaldson 587). Angular
chelitis and oral thrush may be treated with a fifty fifty mixture of Benadryl and Kaopeptate, which
should offer some pain relief and encourage the healing process (Kelsch 25). Unfortunately, in the
advanced stages of meth mouth, the only treatment may be extraction. There are treatment
modifications that should

Black Lives Matter Controversy
In recent years, there has been a variety of events that have occurred which caused people to realize
the inequality that still happens in modern day society. Between gay marriage becoming legal in 2015
and the recent presidential election, there have been many situations that have caused a form of
division between the people of the United States. A major group that has shed some light on the
inequality that occurs in modern day society is the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. The BLM
website states that this they label themselves as a group of 50+ organizations that have come together
with a renewed purpose to spread a common vision and agenda. Although many people view them as
a great step toward furthering equality amongst all people, there is a select group of people who
disagree. The Black Lives matter website also states that their common vision is to continue to move
towards a world in which the full humanity and dignity of all people is recognized. While doing this,
BLM also intends to include other groups of people who experience oppression. Such as the LBGTQ
community, women, Muslims, people who were previously or currently undocumented and much
more. One of the major arguments of the Black Lives Matter movement is to end the war on black
people. There have been many situations in the last two years that have been brought to light through
both social media and news broadcasting as well. The events that are causing a wide controversy

The medium the artist used was oil on canvas. The artwork was vibrant colors with bold patterns. The artist was very precise with the variety of lines he used. The genre for Woman in a Purple Coat is portrait because it portrays Matisse s assistant and companion Lydia Delectorskaya. School Is East Campus At Rappahannock Hall Purpose: The goal of this proposal is recommend that the school makes east campus while including Rappahannock hall to no longer be dry residence hall for those twenty one in age and older to try and decrease the high DUI rate here at CNU. Summary: CNU student currently must go off campus to consume alcohol no matter the age leaving them to find a ride or most of the time, drive. This leaves the students at a high risk of drinking too much and then driving home from said off campus location. As a twenty one year old individual the law gives you the right to drink and as college students no matter your affiliation or social openness students will drink. Some students may end up drinking more than others but in the end a student will drink in his/her college career and CNU forces students to do this off campus making things less safe for the individual. At CNU they have such a strict dry residence hall regulation that it is possible that one time you get in trouble you are kicked out of school. • 8. Art versus Pornography Essay Art versus Pornography Her head rests on her left knee, with her hands clasped on her ankle. Locks of hair are thrown about in an auburn blaze. Her tight rosy lips are as red as her cheeks. Her dark blue eyes reveal a half seductive, half submissive look. Her legs are in a subdued spread eagle formation, leaving her crotch area quite visible. Her white panties leave little to the imagination. The sexual overtones are more than just a coincidence. Where this description is taken from will be disclosed later, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem unfolds itself with two simple definitions. Webster describes art as creative work generally, or its principles; the making or doing of things that have form and beauty. He defines pornography as writings, pictures, etc. intended to arouse sexual desires or the production of such writings, pictures, etc. To elucidate these definitions further, art primarily focuses upon form and beauty, pornography on sexual arousal. The line between a pornographic photo and a work of art, is the way the body is presented. Pornography is concerned with titillation and feelings of lust, while art is concerned with beauty for aesthetic purposes. In a pornographic photo the body is considered naked whereas in a work of art, it is considered nude. Nakedness is usually equated with arousal, whereas a nude is a higher classification of an unclothed body, it does not necessarily imply lust or titillation. In describing someone coming out of the shower, one would say That person is naked rather than That person is nude because the nude is considered a form of art. The distinction between naked and nude is aesthetic versus pleasure. Art serves to please the eye, but this is not its only redeeming quality. Art is intellectual as well as pleasing. Robert Mapplethorpe s photos of the male nude are art not simply because of the form of the body is beautiful, but because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Writing Techniques of Emily Dickinson Essay Emily Dickinson is one of the most interesting female poets of the nineteenth century. Every author has unique characteristics about him/her that make one poet different from another, but what cause Emily Dickinson to be so unique are not only the words she writes, but how she writes them. Her style of writing is in a category of its own. To understand how and why she writes the way she does, her background has to be brought into perspective. Every poet has inspiration, negative or positive, that contributes not only to the content of the writing itself, but the actual form of writing the author uses to express his/her personal talents. Emily Dickinson is no different. Her childhood and adult experiences and culture form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The controversy surrounding Emily Dickinson is her odd lifestyle and her tendencies to be somewhat of a recluse. She is sometimes considered abnormal because she does things differently from most others. She spends much of her life dressed in white and withdrawn from much of society. Of course, her peers take this negatively, but what they do not understand is that her being so private is more of a meditation to her, instead of a hiding. She just wants to escape the pressures she feels are normally required of women. She does not want to be a servant to sick and elderly. She feels she has more potential for her mind to grow, and those obligations would just be hindrances to her writing (McQuade 1255). Her childhood and her staying out of society as an adult, along with many other aspects known and not known, influence her poems and the style in which she goes about writing the works. Her techniques of writing are completely different from any other writer, whether prose or poetry. Dickinson composes her phrases by marking them off with a dash, placing a space before and after. This small maneuver places more emphasis on her impress of the mind in its analysis of experience (McQuade 1256). Her slant thymes and unique form of expression produces more of an oddness to the audience. One of Emily Dickinson s unique forms of writing is her excessive use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Perfectionism Vs Perfectionism The types of exercise(s) and exercise behaviours an individual possesses influence how they view themselves and how much they enjoy the activity. Individuals participating in an exercise regime who strive for flawlessness and set high performance standards for themselves is known as perfectionism. The two dimensions of perfectionism are self oriented perfectionism (SOP) and socially prescribed perfectionism(SPP). SOP is requiring perfection from oneself, while SPP is perceiving that others are requiring perfection of oneself. These two dimensions have been studied together by using a 2x2 model and the subtypes are: non perfectionism (low SPP and low SOP), pure SPP (high SPP and low SOP), pure SPP (low SPP and high SOP) and mixed perfectionism (high SPP and high SOP). Perfectionism has a powerful role in exercise, and researchers have found that greater exercise behaviours in individuals are associated with more perfectionist traits (Longbottom, 2007). A study by Gulker, Laskis and Kuba (2001) compared perfectionist traits among excessive and non excessive exercisers. They wanted to see if excessive exercisers scored higher on obsessive compulsiveness, body dissatisfaction and drive in thinness than non exercisers. The findings supported the hypothesis that excessive exercisers had higher rates on measures of perfectionism. Inspired by lectures given in 1956 and compiled for publication in 1962, Milton Friedman s Capitalism and Freedom addresses important modern economic issues ranging from the distribution of income to the role of government in education (Friedman vii). According to The Times Literary Supplement, Capitalism and Freedom was one of the most influential books published since the war (TLS). In the seventh chapter of Capitalism and Freedom, Friedman addresses the role capitalism and economic freedom plays in the reduction of discrimination against individuals belonging to particular religious, social, and racial minority groups (Friedman 108). Friedman s argument concerning the power of capitalism and economic power is supported particularly in the increased mobility of African Americans following World War I and II despite the temporary interruption displayed by collectivist trends following 1945 (Friedman 11). African Americans, with newfound economic power, were able to curtail coercive political power held by whites. However, Friedman fails to properly address the chain of events which allowed for the establishment political freedom in the African American community. Despite economic freedom granted following emancipation, African Americans were unable to translate economic freedom to political freedom because laws in place to protect civil liberties were not enforced. Handgun bans won t prevent criminals from obtaining weapons; they will, be that as it may, keep a well behaved resident from purchasing a firearm for self preservation (pg.21). While he might be somewhat extraordinary in expressing that laws against weapons are laws against self protection, he makes a decent point. Forbidding handguns leaves subjects with less self protection choices. At the point when individuals are stripped of the best type of self preservation, they are helpless, and this is a major issue. Stossel is accurate about firearm bans keeping decent citizens from utilizing weapons in self protection, and this gives the preferred standpoint to the criminal. • 16. The Consequences Of Space Travel And Exploration 1. Space travel and exploration have many benefits, however, there are also some possible consequences. Space travel is worth it for many reasons. Just like the ocean; space is infinite and there is another world to discover so to speak. There are so many things that we don t know about the ocean and space. For one, space is a mystery containing several artifacts, entities, and possible species that could have the ability to open doors to a whole new universe. There could potentially be life on another planet or even a planet similar to earth that can support life. However, mankind will never know unless we opt to explore the kingdom of space. 2. Reasons why some naysayers believe there shouldn t be more space travel is the cost. It costs $500 $700 million every time a space shuttle flies. Additionally, it costs space tourists $20 million to fly to the space station. Some will ask why spend money on space exploration when there are so many other things that should take precedence. The Global Positioning System (GPS) was built in 1978 which cost $12 billion to build it. The Galileo which is Europe s GPS has an estimated cost of $6.3 billion. The Apollo Space Program started in 1961 1972, and the total cost of the program was $109 billion. As you can see, space travel is extremely expensive. In addition to the costs of the programs and the shuttles, is the salary that is paid to the Astronauts. In 1969 Neil Armstrong was paid $20,000 for his trip to space. In 2012 Astronauts were paid $125,000 for their trip to space so the cost has increased immensely. 3. Another possible reason that people don t agree with space exploration is that if there are alien lifeforms, there might be a chance that they will try to harm the human species. The famed physicist Stephen Hawking is one who believes this to be the case. This is what he had to say on the topic: Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they could reach. This statement was mentioned in 2010 on an episode of Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking. He also stated that Alien civilization would have no problem wiping out the human race the way a human might wipe out a colony of ants. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this essay, I will be exploring the role of the gods in Sophocles Oedipus the King, and whether or not they are to blame for his tragic downfall. Oedipus the King begins with the audience gaining the knowledge that Thebes is in a state of disarray. This, according to the oracle of Delphi, is due to the fact that the previous king, Laius, has not been avenged, and that the only way Thebes will return to its previous glory is if the king s murderer takes account for his actions (Sophocles). Oedipus, the noble and intellectual man that he is, makes a promise to find whoever was responsible for the death of Laius, and make them atone for their sins. ... All of this suggests...that human beings are playthings of chance or indifferent gods and hence that it is impossible for human beings to live nobly or to win the favour and protection of the gods (Ahrensdorf, 2009). In conclusion, I believe that the fates played a greater role than we are lead to believe, but I also believe that the decisions made by all the characters played a pivotal role in the outcome of the drama. The characters were most definitely given a freedom of choice when it came to almost every decision they made, but the fates definitely put obstacles in their way, which would inevitably cause them to be swayed to make rash ... • 23. Heroin Negative Effects What are the negative effects of Heroin usage? Heroin is a very addicting drug that if abused bad enough, can be very hard to control. The user can learn how to control the thoughts or behaviors that may have once led to the craving of the drug. Heroin is a short acting opioid. In other words, it takes effect rapidly, however, it leaves the bloodstream quickly. The NHTSA estimates that heroin withdrawal symptoms start within six to twelve hours of the last dose and it lasts five to ten days in total. There are dozens of symptoms Heroin causes. Symptoms may only last a week approximately, however symptoms can be severe. Some of these include bad teeth, cold sweats, weakening of the immune system, coma, loss of memory, etc. There are a collection of other symptoms but those are the most common. Withdrawal from heroin is not generally considered life threatening on its own. However, some of the medical and psychological symptoms may have complications. For someone who did not abuse heroin in massive doses, withdrawal may be more tempered and not last as long. When heroin is abused, a rush of pleasure occurs, and when it is removed, the opposite effect happens. Heroin binds to opioid receptors, which increases chemicals in the brain that are responsible for feelings of pleasure. Heroin is an opioid drug that suppresses some of the functions of the central nervous system. For example, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and temperature regulation. Someone with a history of mental illnesses or addiction to other drugs may be more likely to become more dependent on the drug taste. The longer someone uses heroin, how it was abused, and how much was taken each time will all be factors in how dependent the brain and body are to the drug. In the past decade, the CDC reports that abuse has doubled for Americans aged eighteen to twenty five. In 2013, it is estimated that eighteen thousand two hundred people have died from a heroin overdose, which is close to four times the number of heroin related overdose fatalities in 2002. Heroin may be a cheaper alternative to powerful and addictive drugs such as Oxycontin and Vicodin. CNN has reported that close to half of injection heroin users abused a ... The stress strain curves of the pure SR and SR composites are presented in Figure 3(a), indicating that the stresses at 100% strain and 300% strain increase with increasing content of BT particles. The main reason for the increased stress at definite elongation is the reinforcing effect of the inorganic particles [38]. In addition, the elongation at break of the SR composites decreased after adding BT particles, attributed to the BT particles acting as physical links, thus limiting the flexibility of macromolecular silicone. Because of increasing interfacial areas between the BT particles and SR matrix, the number of physical links increased significantly in the system, decreasing the elongation at break of the SR composites with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two factors can be used to explain this phenomenon. The first one is the BT particles interact strongly with the macromolecular SR, thus restricting the mobility of the molecular chains. The second one is the polymer chain entanglement limits the movement of polymer chains [38]. The interface polarization will increase the dielectric constant as well as the dielectric loss of the composites. As shown in Figure 4(b), the dielectric loss tangent of the BT/SR composites is larger than that of the pure SR at low frequency. In addition, the dielectric loss displays a sharp decrease at a low frequency (lower than 1 kHz), caused by the DC leakage current. However, the electrode polarization can be excluded as there is no simultaneous decrease in the dielectric constant and dielectric loss with increasing frequency [42]. However, because of the weak polarization of the silicone matrix, the dielectric loss tangent of all the samples is lower than 0.015. The low dielectric loss means just a little energy dissipation during actuation, a big advantage for dielectric elastomer. The electromechanical performance of the SR composites was tested using circular actuators. Considering the safety and utility, the loaded electric field on the samples was 50 kV/mm. The actuated strains of the BT/SR composites are shown in Figure 5(a). The real cost is probably more than you realise. That s because our addiction to plastic is responsible for one of the worst ecological disasters of the modern age: the build up of plastic in the world s oceans. Environmental activists have been warning of this ticking bomb for years and governments around the world are now starting to act. But there are also things that we can all do at home and in our lives to reduce the damage. THE FACTS The amount of plastic produced worldwide is estimated to be around 300 million tonnes each year and between 1.5 and 4.5 per cent of that ends up in the ocean. Were it all to wash up on shore, it would cover every foot of coastline in the world. As a result, the ratio of plastic to plankton in the Mediterranean is thought to be about 1:2, one in three species of marine mammals have been found entangled in litter, fish in the North Pacific ingest about 12 to 24 thousand tonnes of plastic every year, and tiny fragments of plastic have even been found in the arctic ice shelf. Each one of these facts is shocking in its own right, and a tarnish on the human race. MISCONCEPTIONS It is easy to imagine that you don t contribute to plastic in the ocean. Of them, the plan to establish self directed and high performance teams is spotlighted. The company needs to establish a team that combines the different talent and work performance of its employees in order to accomplish a particular goal and purpose. Concerns arise when some of the company s managers are experiencing some teams that are self directed and high performing, while others are not. Therefore, discussions are held which aim at familiarizing all employees with what it means to be self directed and high performing. In the process, they brainstorm on ideas like building elements of a successful team. That day of reckoning is described in the following three passages: 1 Corinthians 3:12 15, 2 Corinthians 5:10, and Romans 14:10 12. These passages include a reckoning of more than just financial issues. The above truth is a sobering fact of Scripture. If Millennials were to internalize these values, it would create a sense of careful calculations in all matters of life. After determining that God owns all things and that Christians are accountable to God, it is important to clarify how the word steward is used in the Bible. In biblical times a steward was a trusted person given responsibility for someone else s possessions which may include care for livestock, immediate family members, or servants. , A steward s duty was to manage on behalf of the master with the purpose to increase the master s resources or influence. Finally, it implied some form of judgment or reckoning to reward the steward if he was faithful in the management of the entrusted resources. Often, stewardship is thought of only in terms of finances, but the Bible teaches that stewardship is a far greater concept, involving how we respond with all of our life. The PCM is defined by the absence of non pecuniary externalities and public goods, perfect information, certainty and mutual unconcern. In a PCM utility maximisation leads to a Pareto efficient outcome. Since this allocation is efficient and achieved through free exchange, Gauthier (1987) concludes that the PCM must be a morally free zone. Morality would result in a failure to reach optimality. Nevertheless they are obviously important to consider when determining how morality should interact with markets as they can have a significant impact on people s lives.
