Family Business
Family business are businesses that are created from their founding fathers of that era, if may evolve
from small businesses into big enterprises. Family business is playing a very important part in the
economy of Malaysia; the reason is that more than half of the Gross Domestic Product of Malaysia is
from the family businesses that are conducted in Malaysia. For example The Genting group and The
Berjaya group are two of the most famous family businesses that are conducted in Malaysia. The
following are the issues and challenges that are faced by family businesses in Malaysia.
The first challenge and issue that affects family businesses in Malaysia is succession planning which
is choosing the next successor for the business after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth challenge and issue that affects the family businesses in Malaysia is leadership which is
basically the compass for the direction of the family business. It is very hard for family business to
have good leadership because it involves leading, involving, and also motivating the people in the
family business so that they share the same goal. So, if the leader of the family business is strong, then
the chance of the business to succeed will surely be very high. The first thing is that the good leader
must have the stamina and the passion to lead. Besides that, the leader must have a wide knowledge of
the economy and also the industry itself so that he or she can direct a most beneficial way for the
family business to approach and also giving a sense of common purpose. Lastly, the leader must have
power to control the people in the family business and tell them what is the plan and what they need to
do.
The last challenge and issue that affects the family businesses in Malaysia is fair compensation which
also includes fair treatment to the people involved in the family business. The reason why this is a
common issue in family business is because that the family members always tend to treat their own
family member better and they also make bias decision most of the time. The most common problem
is the payment and the salary of the people in family business. People who are the family member

The Importance Of Income For Professional Baseball Players
Research was made in order to persuade the readers of how professional baseball players in today s
society deserve the income they are receiving. Possessing the ability to play at a professional level is
what makes these men truly worthy of their income.
Considerable Income for Professional Baseball Players The average salary of a professional baseball
player has been increased substantially throughout the past decades; a player today makes exceedingly
more than they used to. Baseball is different from other sports due to the mental aspect of the game
making it one of the hardest sports as a professional athlete. The uphill battle to become a professional
at the sport of baseball is near impossible as talent is more frequent throughout the globe. Some argue
whether baseball is a beneficial career to the community as other professions including firefighters,
fireman, policeman, and nurses deserve the admiration more than a professional baseball player. Good
ball players are always in demand throughout the league. MLB players are highly skilled athletes thus
earning them the right to such a high income as they bring value to the organization and have put in
dedicated hours of hard work, dedication, and practice throughout all levels of play.
Consistency is what makes an average player an all star especially for Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami
Marlins. Giancarlo racked up 59 home runs in the 2017 season. In The Case for Giancarlo Stanton , by

What Is Nancy Mairs Cripple
In the excerpt Disable (1992) , Nancy Mairs claims that she prefers to be described as a cripple as
opposed to the more accepted terms disabled or handicapped. Mairs states, I am a cripple. I choose
this word to name me. I choose from among several possibilities, the most common of which are
handicapped and disabled . In order to allow the audience to understand her viewpoint, Mairs utilizes
repetition by consistently using the term cripple , denotation using the words handicapped and
disabled, and has a blunt tone. Maris is targeting the everyday American, whether the individual
contains a disability or not.
Throughout the excerpt, Mairs emphasizes that cripple is the most appropriate and honest term to use,
and continuously utilizes the term. For example, from lines 1 through 20, cripple is used in four
instances to support her point of view. In Line 1, Mairs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Mairs describes in the excerpt, I would never refer to another person as a cripple. It is the word I
use to name only myself. In Maris opinion, society cannot even begin to accept people who have
physical or even mental disorders; she states, society is no readier to accept crippledness than to
accept death, war, sweat, or wrinkles. Furthermore, Mairs explains why she prefers the term cripple
stating that, ...to be fair to myself, a certain amount of honesty underlies my choice. Cripple seems to
me a clean word, straightforward and precise. It has an honorable history, having made its first
appearance in the Lindisfarne Gospel in the tenth century. As a lover of words, I like the accuracy with
which it describes my condition: I have lost the full use of my limbs. Disabled, by contrast, suggests
any incapacity, physical or mental. And I certainly don t like handicapped, which implies that I have

The peace ballot is the most valuable source as it is simply so extensive and balances any anomalous

opinion just before the Rhineland re occupation. So in this case shows that there was already a
majority in favour for using force, if necessary, even though nothing like the Rhine had happened yet.
Between 1936 and 1938 the public s sentiment seemed to change. While 5,000 supporters gathered
outside 10 Downing street for Chamberlain, 16,000 were demonstrating at Trafalgar Square, after
Munich. The mass media reported the supporters but not the protesters. This bias which is also shown
to journalists such as Norman Ebbut could be the reason why public opinion started to sway on such a
scale, so late. If Chamberlain did have public support, other options to appeasement would have been
more realistic. The censorship of Ebbut s writings and his withdrawl from Berlin, which is
reciprocated through the majority of mass media, is an important source as it would mean that
Baldwin and Chamberlain would not have the public support to rearm in the early to mid part of the

Designing A Stronger Behavior Management System
Self Assessment
Creating and implementing this unit on division for this diverse fifth grade class was able to help me
grow as an educator. While there were many strengths from this unit, there was also some areas of
growth that could have been made in order to make the unit even more successful. One major strength
from this unit was the differentiation of instruction and assessments. An area of growth for this unit
would be to create a stronger behavior management system in order to make the time dedicated to
math each day more valuable.
This inclusion classroom has a wide range of learners with varying ability levels. In math, there are
four tiered groups with some students who are above grade level, some on grade level, and some who
are two or three grade levels behind. This unit has rather abstract concepts that the students needed to
build an understanding of, and in order to do that I needed to make sure to differentiate the delivery of
instruction as well as the assessment types. This was a strength for this unit, because each lesson was
differentiated for the tiered groups in the form of pacing, guides, graphic organizers, assessments,
manipulatives, rubrics, and difficulty of problems. One specific way that I differentiated during this
unit was by providing students with guided notes, graphic organizers, and manipulative to increase
their understanding of abstract division strategies for solving multi digit division problems. Long

Social Classes In America Essay
The United States is often seen by many as a country of equal opportunity. A place where social
classes do not exist. Unfortunately, thoughts such as these are wrong because the US is far from being
the only country to escape this exception. When observed closely there are signs that each person
manifests that distinctively show what social class they belong to. Although money is the most
common marker of class, education along with health related topics such as heart disease and eating
habits are strong inicators of class. Throughout time one of the most obvious class markers has been
education and it still remains so. People who belong to the higher classes view education as a higher
priority and have more access to the best school in the country. When stuck in lower classes people
must attend schools where books, computers, and education are not found at the same level. An article
in the Atantic Times mentions that Kids who belong to lower social classes fell behind children in the
upper classes by about a year or so. Today, that gap is close to four years. For those in the upper class
their kids are placed in an abundance of classes from an early age such as foreign language, art, and
many sports. Children who are in lower classes have no way of getting a head start when compared to
children in higher classes Sarah Garland also mentions how When children have plenty of time to
build social skills and bigger vocabularies in short term reduce their chances of

Schindler s List is 1993 Oscar nominated movie directed by Steven Spielberg. This movie is based on
the 1982 biographical novel published by the Australian author Thomas Keneally. It is an R rated
movie with a 185 minutes running time. The main character of the movie, Oskar Schindler is played
by Liam Neeson. The movie portrays the story of the German businessman who tried to preserve the
lives of some Jewish refuges during the holocaust.
In times past, the Jews have been victims of ethnic prosecutions. The Jewish history has been stained
with such prosecutions right from the Bible times up to World War II and even beyond. The most
horrific and gruesome of such persecutions was witnessed during the World War II.
Schindler s List depicts the true story of Oskar Schindler during the holocaust. Oskar was a German
industrialist and businessman who was also a strong member of Nazi party. As a businessman,
Schindler showered Nazi officers with bribes and lavish gifts in order to overcome bureaucracies
during wartime Germany. With time he became very wealthy during the peak of the world war.
In the mist of the persecution of the Jews, Schindler was moved with compassion to intervene. He
later convenience the Nazi party to build and enamel ware factor which will help fuel the war. He used
his political connections to employ Jews who would have otherwise been sent to concentration camps
and would subsequently end up in gas chambers.

Animal Rights And The Ethical Treatment Of Animals
From Erasistratus of Alexandria to Galen, who is known as the creator of experimental physiology,
animals have been test subjects in experiments for more than two thousand years (Day 35). Every year
in the world as many as twenty two million animals are used for scientific or medical purposes (Day
10). A variety of animals are experimented on, including rats, mice, rabbits, dogs, cats, and primates
(Day 10). Those against animal research believe the tests are pointless (Day 10). They presume if the
experiments were effective, cancer and other diseases would be cured (Day 11). The ethicality of
testing is also debated. Today, multiple animal rights activist groups exist (Day 11). One of the most

brought to Phillips attention that the scientists were not administering painkillers to the animals (Day

(Day 31). The cages in which the animals are kept are occasionally insanitary, small, and crowded

in rooms with bright lights, inadequate ventilation, and loud noises (Crupper). Every year, anywhere
from 80,000 to 160,000 animals are put down or die from testing ( Transparency Needed 13). A
leading argument for the ban of animal research suggests the use of alternative procedures. In 1959,
William Russell and Rex Burch published The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique (Chang

Speech On Smoking
A Breath of Fresh Air
Even after people know what these substances can and will do to their body, people keep taking it and
in the process, they slowly destroy their bodies every day just so they can feel good for some number
of hours. Some of those people get so addicted they lose jobs, friends, homes and even family
smoking these toxic chemicals. The smoke you put in your lungs starts to break down tissues there
and other body parts and can lead to serious or even fatal diseases. I could go all eternity without ever
smoking or doing any drugs of any kind and never be bothered about it.
Even teens who get dared to smoke at a party can really destroy their bodies. The harmful toxins break
down their bodies and causes diseases for them later in their life. Smoking causes 90% of deaths from
lung cancer, around 80% of deaths from COPD, and around 17% deaths from heart disease. Sadly,
most people don t realize the damage just one cigaret can have on your body. Every drag you take on
the cigaret raises you blood pressure and heart rate. Teenagers that smoke at the age of 15 are three
times more likely to die from cancer than someone who starts smoking in their mid 20s. For this
reason, smoking as a teen can permanently damage your body and smoking can even kill young adults
or give them intense diseases later on in their life.
If you have ever seen a long term smoker before and after their years of smoking, you ve seen first
hand the damage they do to the outside of

The Great Depression Movie Vs Book
In my sixteen years of living, throughout my life, I ve mostly been told that that the book is better than
the movie. From Harry Potter to the Hunger Games, most readers tend to feel that the book is able to
capture more. More description, more development, more dynamic, they would say, just to name a
few. Now I d never really fallen into that presumption, as I prefer to give each book and movie
separate chances and never truly compare the two. Until I read It s Kind of a Funny Story. Modeled
after his own experiences, the late Ned Vizzini wrote about a boy name Craig Gilner and his struggles
with depression. Fortunately, this wasn t a foreign topic to me. Through reading this book I was able
to compare his depression to the depression experienced throughout The Yellow Wallpaper (Charlotte
Perkins Gilman). Having this previous experience, on depression not only helped me better dissect
and understand Craig, as a character, but also modernized the ideas discussed in The Yellow
Wallpaper. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Personally, I found Vizzini s character development to be extremely effective. By including flashbacks
of Craig s life, I was able to see how different events led up to the current day Craig. Doing this, made
me understand, why Craig felt certain emotions stronger than others. For example, throughout the
novel Craig was often stressed with typical teenage issues such as schoolwork and maintaining
friendships. He never truly had an outlet for his emotions. Through flashbacks, and explaining his
childhood love for mapmaking, Vizzini was able to create a critical literary effect, as Craig s
childhood passions ultimately proved as his

To begin, according to Rudin, S. (Producer), O Neill, E. (Producer), Bush, E. (Producers) Gerwig, G.

Bird seemed to be more slow pace, but clear. Throughout the film, it shows Lady Bird s life
throughout high school and at home. It shows how like some seniors in high school, she is having a
hard time getting in college. For example, during the car ride scene with Lady Bird and her mom, it
showed their relationship was not the best. In later scenes like when they are shopping for a dress for
Lady Bird to wear at Danny s grandmother or when Lady Bird s mother tells her father lost his job,
but Lady Bird does not care because she only cares about herself, it proves the point further. The
reason why it felt slow pace, but clear, is due to the fact it felt more like a document than an actual

applies to a couple of expensive and top colleges on the East Coast. She, unfortunately, does not get
accepted into these colleges. Her mother and father make her apply to the University of California,
Davis and she gets accepted, but she is upset about it because it is too close to home. She finally

The opportunities to see into the personality of each character were instead replaced with recurring
details about the race of characters. Every time Michael the only african american character did

many russian characters. Everytime dialogue was said the accent was pointed out. A few chapters in

relevant topic in the current media, i could not help but constantly be distracted but the stereotypes
Cook snuck into each page. Michael was never written about as a person but always an african

that it took away from how great of a character Michael Pender truly was. Michael was not the only
great character. The book had many great characters and storylines. It just took a large amount of

The Journey In “Heart Of Darkness” Spans Not Only The...
The journey in Heart of Darkness spans not only the capricious waters extending our physical world,
but also the perplexing ocean which exists in the heart of man. Through Marlow s somewhat
overenthusiastic eyes, we perceive the mystery that is humanity, and the blurred line between darkness
and light. It is an expedition into the deepest crevices of the human heart and mind bringing on an
awareness, and finally descending into the abyss of hell abiding in each of us. Conrad s use of
wordplay and symbolism shows the reader that this journey is something much deeper. In Heart of
Darkness , Joseph Conrad conveys the themes of darkness, duality, and imperialism through Marlow s
tale of his experience along the Congo River. To begin with, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Savage. This is the dominant theme of duality because the white men in the story are supposed to be
civil and the Africans are called savages, when in reality of the story, the white men are savages
because of the way they treat the Africans. Next, there is Kurtz vs Marlow. Kurtz loses all morals to
the wilderness though Marlow does not give into primitive lusts. Marlow is, however, tempted which
is why he is haunted by Kurtz. Kurtz represents complete savagery, lack of darkness and strength, all
things that Marlow is trying to withstand and comprehend. By examining Kurtz soul, he must examine
his own soul as well. Lastly, there is Kurtz intended vs the tribal woman. The women of Kurtz life are
opposite yet alike in their beauty and love for Kurtz. The intended is the symbol of light all of the sad
light of the cloudy evening took refuge on her forehead. This fair hair, this pale visage, this pure brow

symbol of primitive darkness. Savage and superb; wild eyed and magnificent there was something
ominous and stately in her deliberate progress (Conrad 1902, 157). The similarities are proven when

Conventions of Nursery Rhymes
Conventions of Nursery Rhymes
The conventional nursery rhyme is a vehicle for educating children at an early age of development.
Originally constructed to help with language acquisition and understanding, these rhymes are often
characterized as very short poems designed specifically to teach children in one way or another (Grace
13 Sept 2013). The purpose of a nursery rhyme is to teach language to children by using different
techniques helping to stimulate their imagination, while at the same time introducing the skill of
memorization and comprehension of simple words (Zuralski). Many nursery rhymes are fashioned as
short poems with metrical rhythms, rhyme schemes and repetition of words or sounds. In the poems

For example, the words sand (2), and hand (4) are almost identical sounding words with the exception
of one letter being different. Rhymes like this are simple and can be remembered easily. Disyllabic
words on the other hand are slightly more challenging for children to pronounce due to the complete
change in spelling, for example river (1), and ever (3), requires changing the words completely, yet
they are still words that a child can easily follow because of the matching syllables.
Changing slightly to examine the repetition of words in this poem, it is quite similar to Young Night
Thought insofar as there are again two separate words being repeated three times. The first word that
Stephenson repeats throughout the text is the river (1) in the first, ninth, and thirteenth lines of the
poem. What is interesting in the placement of the word river in the first line is that it answers the
question posed in the title Where Go the Boats? The repetition of the word river allows a child listener
to associate it with the idea that boats can be found at the river, while at the same time identifying the
question being asked in the poem. A child will become familiar with the connection made between the
boats and the river through this constant repetition.
Another significant word that Stephenson repeats throughout this poem is the word Away (11). It is
introduced in a different manner than the

Charles Spurgeon Lectures To My Students Summary
In his book Lectures to My Students, Charles Spurgeon lays out a comprehensive ministerial guide for
students and pastors. There is an enormous amount of energy directed towards the minister s lifestyle,
spirituality, and sincerity. Spurgeon makes the case that ministry must be handled with precision,
attentiveness, and truth. He further shares, What a dreadful thing it will be for me if I should be
ignorant of the power of the truth which I am preparing to proclaim (2010, Chap. I). The preacher
must take great care in managing his own soul before pursuing the heart of others.
A minister must understand that the necessity of prayer, daily personal devotion, and earnestness in

us, in the putlit and out of it, acting like real men, and speaking naturally, like honest men, they would
come around us (2010, Chap. XII). Pastors or ministers should make it their mission to be around the
lay members and connect with the congregation.
One of the most important aspect of his book is the focus on preaching Christ. Spurgeon declares,
Brethren, first and above all things, keep to plain evangelical doctrines, whatever else you do or do not

Chap. IV). This is the heart of the gospel message and the guide to the lost being

information and then writing the actual literature review over the few weeks left before the final due
date. The few weeks given should be ample enough time to complete the task. The third step in
writing the rough draft, putting everything done preciously together, will be done throughout the week
given to complete the task (based on the initial due dates given). Once the rough draft has been written
the final draft will be worked on through making any and all necessary changes to the rough draft.
Once turned in, a Power Point presentation will be made and all will be complete. Through the few
weeks, some time management will be needed and time will be set aside to work on all aspects of the
project. For this project, the research question that will be looked at it the most important to allow for
the above to take place. For the purposed of this project, the topic will be looking at Gender in the

Connor, Lev, and Risa now have full authority of the site and work together along with the other

two new characters, Cam and Starkey. Cam, who is completely spoiled on his own Island with his

the media runs havoc and Connor comes into conflict with him resulting a large dispute that doesn t

He s described as a murderer and no stranger to criminal activity. These are characteristics which

Why Did The Aurora Borealis Exist
The Aurora Borealis
Despite a distance of 93 million miles, the sun provides us with heat, energy, and the mystical Aurora
Borealis. There are many beliefs for why the Aurora Borealis exists; the Inuit believe that the spirits of
their ancestors can be seen in the Aurora Borealis. Norse Mythology states that the Aurora Borealis is
a fire bridge to the sky built by the gods. But because of science, we now know that the sun causes the
Aurora Borealis.
What Causes the Aurora Borealis?
The surface of the sun is worlds away. But on that surface, immense storms rage across the surface.
These storms hurtle gusts of charged solar particles across the abyss of space. If the Earth happens to
be in the path of the particles, the particles collide with molecules and atoms in the Earth s
atmosphere. These atoms become stimulated by the sun s particles and light up. But what happens to
cause the atoms to light up is where things start to get interesting. Atoms are made up of a nucleus and
a cloud of electrons circling this nucleus. When the sun charged particles hit the atoms in the Earth s
atmosphere; energy is transferred to the electrons, causing them to move further away from the
nucleus. But as those electrons lose energy, they move closer to ... Show more content on

Saturn s Aurora Borealis was exactly the same as Earth s. The Aurora on Saturn is generated from
charged particles released by the sun interacting with Saturn s atmosphere, causing them to glow. The
Aurora appears at the poles because the ringed planet s magnetic field forces them pole ward, exactly
like on Earth. Jupiter is just the same. The Aurora Borealis appears at both poles for the exact same
reason as Earth and Saturn. But different than Earth, Jupiter s Aurora had multiple bright streaks and
dots instead of the common curtain shape. After much research, scientists discovered that some of

Literary Analysis Of Stephen King s Why We Crave Horror
Why is horror a necessity to human life? Why, when something horrible has taken place people want
to know all the gruesome details? Why is it that we all love packing into a movie theater to watch
innocent people be lynched and destroyed? In his essay Why We Crave Horror Stephen King
rightfully claims he has the answers to these troubling questions. He brilliantly states that humans
crave horror to face our fears, to regain a sense of normality, and have a little fun.
King s first great reason why we love horror is to prove we are not scared. King explains this by
comparing horror movies/stories to a roller coaster. At the beginning of his essay, he states that we
watch horror To show that we can, that we are not afraid, that we can ride the roller coaster (King,
Why We Crave 1). This a great comparison, because we can all relate to a situation like this. Horror
might not be our favorite thing to read or watch, but we do it to show we are brave enough to take it
on. Who would want to read about women being cut up and destroyed like in the short story
Strawberry Spring . For example, near the beginning of the narrator s encounter, a junior named John
Dancey happened upon a dead girl lying in a shadowy corner of the Animal Sciences parking lot
(King, Strawberry Spring 2). We try to avoid our worst fear of death, but when the time comes we will
read about it, because we can not look like a coward. We are Daring the nightmare (King, Why We
Crave 1) just to prove we have the guts.
Another reason why we crave horror is that we reestablish our feelings of essential normality (King,
Why We Crave 1). Let s say someone is having a horrible day, and feeling very depressed or down
about themselves. Well, reading a horror story like Strawberry Spring will cheer that individual up.
This is because we start to feel like We are still light years away from true ugliness (King, Why We
Crave 1). For example, at the end of the short story the narrator starts to realize he is the killer of all
the horrible murders, and didn t even know. The narrator says things like The lovely creeping fog and
Such an ugly word trunk and wondering why in the world I should be afraid to open it. We start to feel

Nfl Popular Sports
Football is a very popular sport in the United States. Many people enjoy watching their favorite teams
play and tailgating before the event starts. Even though many people enjoy it, not many know the
history of the sport. Before football became a famous sport, it was just a game, now it is one of the
most famous franchises in the world. The National Football League was founded in 1920, as the
American Professional Football Association with ten teams from four states, all of whom existed in
some form as participants of regional leagues in their respective territories; it became the National
Football League in 1922. The NFL was the first professional football league to successfully be
established as a nationwide presence, after many years of failed attempts. There are only two teams

Arizona Cardinals), are founding members. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Incentive Plans
Organizations provide incentive plans to employees as motivation to reach the objectives and goals of
the company. Incentives are given to personnel to encourage them to do his or her best. Incentive
plans in any business might include bonuses or raises, stock option plans, or other forms of incentives.
This is in exchange for the employees who work harder, better, or faster in accordance with the
organizations goals and objectives (Businesstown.com, 2001). The majority of incentives are
performance based policies in which workers receive additional cash or benefits centered on a worker
s performance.

The CSR would receive a candy bar of his or her choice or PTO for taking the most calls in a day.
Each day the total calls are reported and the CSR with the most receives the incentive. Some CSR s
will have competitions with each other. This is a way the employees motivate themselves. When all
goals are met the team or teams receive a lunch party in which the company provides the funds for the
event; this is a paid event for all employees. Some employees make his or her team goals a priority
because the team goal incentive is always higher than individual goals.
Conclusion
Incentive plans are beneficial to an organization because it provides high productive results through
teamwork; teamwork is an effective tool in an organization. For that reason, it is important to build an
effective team and motivate them. The supervisor has the responsibility to motivate the employees;
however, when incentives are given it will motivate the employee to do his or her best and in return
the company will gain the maximum productivity of the employees (Businesstown.com, 2001). In the
department I work for monetary incentives motivate the employees but nonmonetary incentives as
simple as a candy bar or PTO work too.

Research Methods
Introduction of research and research methods
What is research method? As a matter of fact, according to Saundra et al. (2003), the term method in
the entire research process or project can be considered as tool or technique which help researcher
obtain, collect and analyze data or different types of information. To be more specific, Saundra et al.
(2003) point out that in order to fulfill different research projects and objectives, couples of methods
have to be properly utilized, in this case, these approaches usually include questionnaire, observation
and interviews. What is the nature of research? Saundra et al. (2003) argued that the genuine research

Introduction and review of research project and research process
The research project is about the use the catering facility in catering outlets in city campus of SHU. In
order to achieve the research task and objectives, the researcher was mainly using three research
methods observation, interview and questionnaire in terms of collecting relevant data and statistics.
Observation

at one of catering outlet which is in the first floor of Furnival Building and a detailed record of the
entire observation was made, The time span of this observation is about 15 minute and the time when
this observation was undertaken is in afternoon. The final data that derived from observation is
quantitative based data and more concerned with the frequency of each action and behavior.

Analysis Of Bowling For Columbine
Is it the bowling? It must be the Video games? Michael Moore s award winning documentary;
Bowling for Columbine explores the reason for the violence in America and the reason for the
Columbine High school mascara. In April 1999 two students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went on a
shooting rampage killing 12 students and a teacher before committing suicide, Moore looks at the
background in which the massacre took place and assumptions about related issues. Moore uses Bill
Nichols four modes of representation; the interactive, expository, observational and reflexive to
convey his viewpoint on gun control in America and the nature of violence in the United States of
America. Interactive mode is when the audience is able to acknowledge the ... Show more content on

By opening the movie with a picture of the NRA and a voice over it is setting a tone and conveying
Moore s strong viewpoint that the NRA are part to blame for the violence in Littleton and the
Columbine Incident, it is also indicating the NRA is going to be something of a target in the film. The
next major use of expository mode is when Moore gives us a look into American history by showing a
montage of different war and political images from 1953 2001. Typewriter font directly addresses the
viewer and gives meaning to the images. For example a picture of a dead man has little meaning, but
with the text 1965 1975: American Military kills 4 million people in Southeast Asia the viewer is able
to make sense of the footage. Another documentary technique used is the use of non diagetic music; a
song by Joey Ramone What a wonderful world adds to the mood of the scene. Ramone is singing
about a wonderful world as audiences are viewing contrasting pictures of war and killing this creates a
dramatic effect leaving the audience question Is this a wonderful world, with all this killing? This
emphasises Moores viewpoint on how American has been a society of fear for centuries. Another
effective voice over is after three and a

Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
The most common sexually transmitted infection in the U.S is Human Papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is
often asymptomatic and benign. However, it can lead to serious complications. It can cause genital
warts, bumps in the genital area that can vary in size and are often painful and itchy. Furthermore,
HPV can cause several cancers such as cervical, oropharyngeal, or cancers of the genitals (vulva,
vagina, or penis). These cancers often don t appear for years after contraction of the virus. HPV is
spread through sexual/skin to skin contact (vaginal, anal, or oral) with an infected person, regardless if
the person is symptomatic. Both females and males can carry the disease. Most symptoms associated
with HPV affect both men and women, such as genital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often chlamydia will remain asymptomatic. Only an average of 10% of men and 5 30% of women
develop symptoms. The most common symptom in women is cervicitis (inflammation of the cervix)
or urethritis (inflammation of the urethra). If left untreated the infection can spread to the uterus or
fallopian tubes, possibly resulting in pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Pelvic inflammatory disease
can damage the reproductive tract and cause infertility issues. In pregnant women, this STD can
increase the chance of premature birth and complications such as pneumonia in the baby.
Symptomatic men most often experience urethritis, and sometimes epididymitis, an inflammation of a
tube near the testicles responsible for storing sperm. Both men and women can experience rectal pain
or discharge. Lastly, both men and women can develop reactive arthritis that is accompanied by
urethritis and conjunctivitis (pinkeye); combining to create Reiter s Syndrome. Chlamydia can be
transmitted via contact with infected persons penis, vagina, anus, or mouth. Alternately, it can be
spread from a pregnant woman to her baby during birth. The systems at risk of being affected by
chlamydia are the reproductive systems of both men and women (reproductive tract, epididymis),
urinary system (urethra), and even skeleton system as with reactive arthritis. Chlamydia can be readily
cured with antibiotics. Any damage done by the disease, such as damage contracted during a bout of
pelvic inflammatory disease, will remain after treatment. Anyone who has contracted chlamydia
before should aim to prevent recurring infections, as multiple infections can increase the risk for
complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease or ectopic

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Political Dynasty In The...
Political dynasty is a well known method of politicians in the Philippines wherein the members of the
family is made also a member of the government in order for them to not lose power but to gain more
power. This act is an unfair and unjust because the government is not a business that a family can run
by themselves, but the government is for all and other people should be given chances wherein they
can be the one that leads a community. The government or politics is not a business that can be run by
generation and generation of a family the government is a critical part of a community having

The other disadvantage of this is once a family starts having political dynasty they will thirst for
dominance they would harbor more power in their family they would want to dominate the society
and considering of that attitude it will lead to the fall of the society and its people. According to
Angela Casauay, The House Bill 3587 or the act prohibiting the Establishment of Political Dynasties
seeks to prohibit relatives and according to Jan Danelle A. Patindol, up to the second degree of
consanguinity to hold or run for both national and local office in Successive, simultaneous, or
overlapping term. The quote Successive, simultaneous, or overlapping term , means that you cannot
run as a politician if a member of your family or relative is still in the politics. This bill brings
potential about real reform. The families that have been voted repeatedly would abuse the people,
because they have their trust and would make use of it to widen their power in their community.
People are deprived of their right to vote for who they want because a person sitting in the highest
position of the government moreover they will do everything and anything for his family member to
become a part of the government or another is if the family member is to end his term and his other
family member is to run for the position he or she is in the result or the winner in the end would

Hannah taking her own life truly emphasized the impact of bullying, rape, and harassment has on
someone. Hannah deciding to make tapes dedicated to the people her impacted her decision, then
committing suicide on the final tape showed how much hate and vengefulness she had for everyone. It

The History Of Motown Music
Rising into the mainstream in the early 1960 s, Motown music gained popularity as it produced a
wave of African American musicians who successfully integrated their music, creating a newly unified
musical culture between White and Black Americans. Simultaneously Motown provided musical
backing for an extensive battle of cultural change in the USA; the American Civil Rights Movement.
Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records produced music with the aim to sell to anyone despite
their age or colour. The revolutionary processes and features of the Motown Machine produced

Peter s Persecution
Simon Peter, a fisherman, called by Jesus to leave his life and become a disciple, wrote the book of 1st
Peter. After his transformation from sin into Christianity, He wrote this book to encourage believers in
different countries facing persecution for their beliefs. He wanted to provide hope for the Christians in
a similar situation as himself. Peter wrote this book to the people in the form of a letter, an epistle, to
the followers in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia. (Northern Asia). He wrote this
book/letter at the outset of Nero s persecution in around 62 A.D. This was just and early formed plan
or way of coping with what was changing and happening to them. This passage follows the context of
encouragement, which is the main topic of the book of first peter. This specific passage deals with
suffering for a good cause and how to stand up for what you believe in which ties into the life story of
Jesus; how he never gave into a greater power, but stood up for what was right in spite of the physical

showing gentleness and respect in the face of adversaries for God will bless those who suffer for right.

Sculptures at Crosby Beach
Whilst visiting Crosby beach in October 2013 there was evidence of the public altering the statues
appearance. Somebody had knitted around the ankle of one, and also placed a hard hat on the head.
The statues being placed at Crosby beach had created a large tourist attraction and we see how the
public introduce their own enjoyment to the art.
With the sculptures being constantly moved to different locations, they were granted permission to be
permanently positioned at Crosby beach in 2005, despite some objections. Certain people believed
that the figures were offensive and pornographic due to them being naked with genitalia on show.
They also believed that they were a safety hazard due to it being difficult to differ between a human
and a sculpture in low lighting. Also, reaching the figures close to the sea was shown as a hazard due
to the sinking mud; a problem which I had encountered myself! The sculptures being made out of Cast
iron is also relevant to them being positioned in Crosby beach. The cast iron links to the Liverpool s
industrial origin as a major port. The figures stand watching as many ships pass each day, as they are
reaching their new destination. The sculptures are possibly standing, waiting to travel to Another

giving the impression of the statues walking into the sea.

Small and simple words with barely any meaning, but those words kept me going. If you ve ever

The Age of Enlightment
In Europe in the early 17th century, Christianity was the dominant religion. Most countries believed
that it was the only acceptable one, and that there should not be any toleration for other religions. In
many countries, the monarchs (or the other rulers) would enforce Christianity and persecute people
with other beliefs. Some of these beliefs, however, changed during the Age of Enlightenment from the
late 1600 s to the mid 1700 s. The philosophers during the Age of Enlightenment influenced peoples
way of thinking through their ideas of reason, empiricism, and the power of nature. The ideas that the
philosophers had eliminated the stranglehold that religion had on the people and the government.
Through the heavy influence of John Locke, Isaac Newton, and other philosophers, alternative
religions, mainly deism, emerged, which changed how people viewed themselves and their
relationship to government. Through their discoveries and theories, the philosophers during the Age of
Enlightenment greatly affected the way that people viewed themselves. Isaac Newton was the first of
these philosophers to alter the views of the people of the time. Newton believed that the key to
discovery was trial and error. He believed that no one should firmly believe in anything unless it was
distinctly proven. This idea is known as empiricism. Along with these views, he also believed that
there was a scientific and mathematical reason for everything on earth. Rather than God being the only

American Foreign Policy 1930-1941
Over the years 1930 through 1941 the goals of American foreign policy generally changed. In the
earlier years America dealt with war and fought with other countries. America was not very smart in
learning to stay out of war. Over the years, America became more neutral and attempted to stay out of
war as much as possible. Throughout the years, important figures wrote documents to support
America s journey and decisions. In the beginning of this time period, around 1931, Japan disregarded
our international treaty agreements. America did not approve of this and drew a cartoon criticizing
Japan for these actions. This was shown in Document A. The same type of action happened between
Europe and America in the year 1932. Europe could not pay their war debts and America reacted by
saying Europe could not agree on anything else. This was shown in Document B. America could have
handled this differently by being neutral and helping rather than being aggressive and saying they
could not agree on anything else. Around the year of 1937, people started to ... Show more content on

us, that is reason enough to stay out. This was a very important speech that made people realize to stay
out of the pathways of war. This information was stated in Document F. Also is the year of 1941, the
President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Great Britain agreed on various common
principles in the national policies. They chose to base their hopes for a better future for the world. This

My Life As Emperor By Su Tong
My Life as Emperor by Su Tong tells the story of a young emperor s rise to and fall from power. The
main idea of this novel seems to be that the fictional Xie Empire, like most real historical empires,
was doomed to fall apart within a matter of a few centuries due to internal and external complications.
The grim prophecy that calamity will soon befall the Xie Empire repeats throughout the novel until
the empire is indeed destroyed, giving credence to this. At the start of the novel, fourteen year old
Duanbai, the fifth son of the newly deceased emperor, falsely ascends to the throne through the
machinations of the late emperor s mother, Madame Huangfu. Throughout his reign, Duanbai is
incapable of properly dealing with various problems, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he sees a circus performance at the Twelve Eight celebration in Pinzhou, he tells his slave
Swallow, Walking a tightrope is more impressive than being Emperor of Xie... I don t want to be
Emperor. I want to be a tightrope walker (Su 61). In his childish self centeredness, he only thinks of
what he wants and does not concern himself with any matters of state. This allows his grandmother,
Madame Huangfu, and his mother, Madame Meng, to easily turn him into a puppet ruler, which would
have happened in East Asian history when a child succeeded to the throne. Duanbai is aware that the
two women are making all of the decisions that should have been his, but he does not mind. When
describing an audience with his chief ministers and officials, the narrative says,
My grandmother Madame Huangfu, and the Empress Dowager, Madame Meng, sat on either side of
the throne. My opinions always derived from them, either by a veiled look or a whispered comment.
That is how I preferred it. Even though I was of sufficient age and knowledge to excuse the two
women from administering state affairs from behind the scenes, I chose not to so that I could avoid
having to watch my every word and overtax my brain (Su 11 12).
Here, Duanbai believes he has power. He believes he could easily dismiss the two women and rule by
himself if he would so desire, that he is merely choosing not to exercise his power. Duanbai is happy
to not have actual power

The Green Berets Analysis
Green Berets came to the defense of the film. One lieutenant colonel commented that when
Hollywood s doing it, you have to expect dramatization some exaggeration. But I thought it was a real
fine film. Another officer enthusiastically said, I think it caught the essence, And according to a Green
Beret sergeant major, the film, was just God, Mother, and Flag. Now who the hell could have any
opposition to that? It was a good, low key, accurate picture...The accuracy was there and the
photography was real great. However, General Edwin Simmons, who fought in Vietnam and
commanded a Special Forces unit, found the film so bad that it almost made him sick. Wayne s
political opinions also highlights his misrepresentation of African Americans ... Show more content on

I had a black slave in The Alamo, and I had a correct number of blacks in The Green Berets. He said
he was guided by clear criteria: If it s supposed to be a black character, naturally I use a black actor.
But I don t go so far as hunting for positions for them. However, one black character in The Green
Berets is not the correct number that was actually represented in Vietnam, because the number of
African American soldiers who served in combat far exceeded their percentage of the population.
Thus, Wayne did not accurately portray the racial demographic of the military at the time. Roger Ebert
vouched, The Green Berets simply will not do as a film about the war in Vietnam. It is offensive not
only to those who opposed American policy but even to those who support it. However, though the
film had mixed reviews, and unfavorable critical reception, the film did well at the box office in 1968
and continued to do steady and profitable business in subsequent

A Personal Health Record ( Ehr )
A personal health record (PHR) is an emerging health information technology that patients may use to
participate in their own health care and improve the quality and efficiency of that care. Most articles
written about PHRs have been published since 2000.
PHR could be defined as An electronic application through which individuals can access, manage and
share their health information, and that of others for whom they are authorized, in a private, secure,
and confidential environment . A PHR should not be confused with an electronic health record (EHR).
While EHR is entered and edited by health care provider, PHR is accessed and, in some cases, edited
by the patient himself.
There are two main types of PHR, tethered, or connected, PHR and untethered, or standalone, PHR.
There are many benefits of PHR such as Empowerment of patients, Improve patient provider
communication and relationships, Increase patient safety, Access to patient data in emergencies,
chronic disease management, Improved quality of care, more efficient delivery of care, Better
safeguards on health information privacy, bigger cost savings and improve Behavioral habits.
There are many challenges facing adoption of PHR such as maintaining data security and privacy and
Digital divide and literacy related issues.

Simple reasoning shows the correlation between productivity and economic growth. The Asian value
of saving and investing rather than wasting money on western hobbies such as drunkenness as stated
by Mark Twain, is very essential for economic growth. The idea of savings has allowed China to stray
away from debt, and ultimately can be applied to understanding China s trade surplus1 of $202 billion
with the United States. This number is more than just a numerical value when applied to the United
States trade deficit1 of $725.8 billion. This surplus depicts the savings and investments of the Chinese
and how both have allowed for not only rapid growth of capital stock, but also the shift from the
traditional agricultural sector to a more modern sector, which ultimately advocates economic growth.
As noted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the Institute for International
Economics , Domestic savings have been more than sufficient to finance the high level of capital
formation that has characterized the last three decades of economic growth. Furthermore, the United
States has a savings1 rate of zero, whereas China s savings1 rate is 34%. The last attribute of the
Chinese people with respect to Confucianism is the obedience of the Chinese people. As noted by Sen
, Confucius said, When the [good] way prevails in the state, speak boldly and act boldly. When the
state has lost the way, act boldly,

Homecoming Failure
In my time as a student I have rarely seen latinos in positions of power. Much less in student council,
where I was the only latina up until last year. Imagine the surprise that came to me when I found out I
had been chosen to be the head of homecoming. At first, panic set in. What if I didn t do a good job?
What if homecoming failed due to my failing as a leader? If homecoming failed, I would I give into
the stereotype of an incompetent mexican? All these questions loomed in my head. Eventually, I
realized this was my chance to prove myself, and prove that others of my race could do just as good a
job as my caucasian counterparts. Once I gained confidence in my ability to lead student council into

Mere Christianity Book 4 Summary
BOOK FOUR
BEYOND PERSONALITY: OR FIRST STEPS IN THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY
We have now come to the fourth and final book of Mere Christianity. In this book, the author takes us
to the place in our Christian growth where we begin to rely more heavily on the power of God and less
on ourselves to become the being that God originally intended for us to be a son of God. He begins
with an explanation of the difference between making and begetting.
4.1 Making and Begetting
As Dr. Lewis continues with his discussion, he distinguishes between making and begetting. Before he
delves into his explication, he obviously realizes that the conversation he is about to embark upon is
one that is mainly a theological concept. Hence, he prefaces the main topic by citing an argument
believers present regarding the need for theology: a number of people feel that ... Show more content

He further clarifies that in Christianity, God is not even a person. Instead, he is a dynamic, pulsating
activity almost a kind of drama. Additionally, he says the Holy Spirit also shares in the same love that
exists between God and Jesus; and like them, He is eternal also. The author informs us that we too can
share in that eternal love, and we can help others share in it as well. Here, he reminds us that those
superior traits, as well as appalling ones that we know, come by a kind of infection we come in contact
with the source of the infection. Therefore, we can take part in the shared love that exists between the
three persons by coming in contact with that love. Furthermore, we can expose others to that love, so
that they might also become infected. Each of us, then, can become a little Christ, which is the whole
purpose of becoming a

The Ford Pinto Case Analysis
The Ford Pinto Case
Milton Friedman believed a free market system, in which goods and services are exchanged and
controlled by individuals and privately owned businesses without government authority, was the only
way to achieve personal freedom. Adam Smith, a 18th century philosopher and economist, held the
belief that in a free society, the role of government should be limited to the protection of the people,
the administration of justice through the court system, and the maintenance of all public resources.
Adam Smith developed the concept of the invisible hand theory, which says within a society that is
free of government interference, individuals can pursue actions out of their own self interest, and the
collective result of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ford executives were under a great deal of pressure to produce a smaller, more gas efficient
automobile. Japanese and German automobile sales were rapidly increasing. These competitive forces
drove Ford s executive team to respond by rushing the design process of the Ford Pinto. By 1973, the
Pinto was well into production when engineers discovered a flaw in the gas tank, which was located
just under the rear bumper. They discovered that if the vehicle suffered a rear end collision over 20
mph, the gas tank could break and spill gasoline into the passenger compartment, potentially resulting
in a fire. The remedy for the flaw was a part that cost $11.00 per vehicle. Executives at Ford knew the
company had followed all safety standards and regulations. At that time, automobile safety standards
only needed gas tanks to withstand a collision under 20 mph. An internal cost benefit analysis revealed
the costs would be substantially higher to fix the design flaw that the costs associated with any
potential damages due to collisions and loss of life. The public remained unaware until Mother Jones
journalist, Mark Dowie broke the story in 1977. Fueled by the media, what followed was a frenzy of
public outcry and court trials.
Friedman s free market approach to business ethics and how it relates to the Ford Pinto case.
Friedman, who had a gift for explaining complex concepts, believed the

The fourth challenge and issue that affects the family businesses in Malaysia is leadership which is basically the compass for the direction of the family business. It is very hard for family business to have good leadership because it involves leading, involving, and also motivating the people in the family business so that they share the same goal. So, if the leader of the family business is strong, then the chance of the business to succeed will surely be very high. The first thing is that the good leader must have the stamina and the passion to lead. Besides that, the leader must have a wide knowledge of the economy and also the industry itself so that he or she can direct a most beneficial way for the family business to approach and also giving a sense of common purpose. Lastly, the leader must have power to control the people in the family business and tell them what is the plan and what they need to do. The last challenge and issue that affects the family businesses in Malaysia is fair compensation which also includes fair treatment to the people involved in the family business. The reason why this is a common issue in family business is because that the family members always tend to treat their own family member better and they also make bias decision most of the time. There are many beliefs for why the Aurora Borealis exists; the Inuit believe that the spirits of their ancestors can be seen in the Aurora Borealis. Norse Mythology states that the Aurora Borealis is a fire bridge to the sky built by the gods. But because of science, we now know that the sun causes the Aurora Borealis. What Causes the Aurora Borealis? The surface of the sun is worlds away. But on that surface, immense storms rage across the surface. These storms hurtle gusts of charged solar particles across the abyss of space. If the Earth happens to be in the path of the particles, the particles collide with molecules and atoms in the Earth s atmosphere. These atoms become stimulated by the sun s particles and light up. But what happens to cause the atoms to light up is where things start to get interesting. Atoms are made up of a nucleus and a cloud of electrons circling this nucleus. When the sun charged particles hit the atoms in the Earth s atmosphere; energy is transferred to the electrons, causing them to move further away from the nucleus. • 23. Literary Analysis Of Stephen King s Why We Crave Horror Why is horror a necessity to human life? Why, when something horrible has taken place people want to know all the gruesome details? Why is it that we all love packing into a movie theater to watch innocent people be lynched and destroyed? In his essay Why We Crave Horror Stephen King rightfully claims he has the answers to these troubling questions. He brilliantly states that humans crave horror to face our fears, to regain a sense of normality, and have a little fun. King s first great reason why we love horror is to prove we are not scared. King explains this by comparing horror movies/stories to a roller coaster. At the beginning of his essay, he states that we watch horror To show that we can, that we are not afraid, that we can ride the roller coaster (King, Why We Crave 1). This a great comparison, because we can all relate to a situation like this. Horror might not be our favorite thing to read or watch, but we do it to show we are brave enough to take it on. Who would want to read about women being cut up and destroyed like in the short story Strawberry Spring . For example, near the beginning of the narrator s encounter, a junior named John Dancey happened upon a dead girl lying in a shadowy corner of the Animal Sciences parking lot (King, Strawberry Spring 2). We try to avoid our worst fear of death, but when the time comes we will read about it, because we can not look like a coward. We are Daring the nightmare (King, Why We Crave 1) just to prove we have the guts. Another reason why we crave horror is that we reestablish our feelings of essential normality (King, Why We Crave 1). Let s say someone is having a horrible day, and feeling very depressed or down about themselves. Well, reading a horror story like Strawberry Spring will cheer that individual up. This is because we start to feel like We are still light years away from true ugliness (King, Why We Crave 1). For example, at the end of the short story the narrator starts to realize he is the killer of all the horrible murders, and didn t even know. The narrator says things like The lovely creeping fog and Such an ugly word trunk and wondering why in the world I should be afraid to open it. We start to feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Age of Enlightment In Europe in the early 17th century, Christianity was the dominant religion. Most countries believed that it was the only acceptable one, and that there should not be any toleration for other religions. In many countries, the monarchs (or the other rulers) would enforce Christianity and persecute people with other beliefs. Some of these beliefs, however, changed during the Age of Enlightenment from the late 1600 s to the mid 1700 s. The philosophers during the Age of Enlightenment influenced peoples way of thinking through their ideas of reason, empiricism, and the power of nature. The ideas that the philosophers had eliminated the stranglehold that religion had on the people and the government. Through the heavy influence of John Locke, Isaac Newton, and other philosophers, alternative religions, mainly deism, emerged, which changed how people viewed themselves and their relationship to government. Through their discoveries and theories, the philosophers during the Age of Enlightenment greatly affected the way that people viewed themselves. Isaac Newton was the first of these philosophers to alter the views of the people of the time. Newton believed that the key to discovery was trial and error. He believed that no one should firmly believe in anything unless it was distinctly proven. This idea is known as empiricism. Along with these views, he also believed that there was a scientific and mathematical reason for everything on earth. Rather than God being the only cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main idea of this novel seems to be that the fictional Xie Empire, like most real historical empires, was doomed to fall apart within a matter of a few centuries due to internal and external complications. The grim prophecy that calamity will soon befall the Xie Empire repeats throughout the novel until the empire is indeed destroyed, giving credence to this. At the start of the novel, fourteen year old Duanbai, the fifth son of the newly deceased emperor, falsely ascends to the throne through the machinations of the late emperor s mother, Madame Huangfu. This allows his grandmother, Madame Huangfu, and his mother, Madame Meng, to easily turn him into a puppet ruler, which would have happened in East Asian history when a child succeeded to the throne. Duanbai is aware that the two women are making all of the decisions that should have been his, but he does not mind. When describing an audience with his chief ministers and officials, the narrative says, My grandmother Madame Huangfu, and the Empress Dowager, Madame Meng, sat on either side of the throne. My opinions always derived from them, either by a veiled look or a whispered comment. That is how I preferred it. However, one black character in The Green Berets is not the correct number that was actually represented in Vietnam, because the number of African American soldiers who served in combat far exceeded their percentage of the population. Thus, Wayne did not accurately portray the racial demographic of the military at the time. Roger Ebert vouched, The Green Berets simply will not do as a film about the war in Vietnam. In this book, the author takes us to the place in our Christian growth where we begin to rely more heavily on the power of God and less on ourselves to become the being that God originally intended for us to be a son of God. He begins with an explanation of the difference between making and begetting. 4.1 Making and Begetting As Dr. Lewis continues with his discussion, he distinguishes between making and begetting. Before he delves into his explication, he obviously realizes that the conversation he is about to embark upon is one that is mainly a theological concept. The author informs us that we too can share in that eternal love, and we can help others share in it as well. Here, he reminds us that those superior traits, as well as appalling ones that we know, come by a kind of infection we come in contact with the source of the infection. Therefore, we can take part in the shared love that exists between the three persons by coming in contact with that love. Furthermore, we can expose others to that love, so that they might also become infected. Each of us, then, can become a little Christ, which is the whole purpose of becoming a ... Adam Smith, a 18th century philosopher and economist, held the belief that in a free society, the role of government should be limited to the protection of the people, the administration of justice through the court system, and the maintenance of all public resources. Japanese and German automobile sales were rapidly increasing. These competitive forces drove Ford s executive team to respond by rushing the design process of the Ford Pinto. By 1973, the Pinto was well into production when engineers discovered a flaw in the gas tank, which was located just under the rear bumper. They discovered that if the vehicle suffered a rear end collision over 20 mph, the gas tank could break and spill gasoline into the passenger compartment, potentially resulting in a fire. The remedy for the flaw was a part that cost $11.00 per vehicle. Executives at Ford knew the company had followed all safety standards and regulations. At that time, automobile safety standards only needed gas tanks to withstand a collision under 20 mph. An internal cost benefit analysis revealed the costs would be substantially higher to fix the design flaw that the costs associated with any potential damages due to collisions and loss of life. The public remained unaware until Mother Jones journalist, Mark Dowie broke the story in 1977. Fueled by the media, what followed was a frenzy of public outcry and court trials.
