Group Communication In The Walking Dead
When chaos, violence, death, and zombies rule the world, only those who can drive them out survive.
The Walking Dead takes this idea of driving the enemies of survival out, runs with it, and turns it into
a television series. The Walking Dead is created from a comic book series written by Robert Kirkman,
Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard with Frank Darabont developing the television series six seasons;
this paper will analyze will be in the sixteenth episode of the third season. The show centers on a
group of survivors lead and guided by Rick Grimes, a Georgian sheriff who was shot during his duties
as a police officer, and awakes from the coma the shot induced to find a completely devastated world.

The theory tries to prescribe and describe how a group should communicate and be lead to be the most
effective. According to the theory as put forth by Hirokawa and Gouran, groups are able to effectively
make decisions and solve problems when group members fulfill five prerequisites. The first of these
prerequisites is that the group members must understand the problem that needs to be solved. Second,
they must determine the qualities of an acceptable solution to the problem. Third, group members
must brainstorm any and all relevant and realistic solutions to the given problem. Next, each of the
solutions should be compared to the qualities the group members previously set forth and agreed
upon. Finally, the group members should select the solution that most closely reflects the desired
characteristics. In addition to fulfilling these criteria, Group members employ appropriate
interventions for overcoming cognitive, affiliative, and egocentric constraints that are interfering with
the satisfaction of fundamental task requirements (Gouran Hirokawa, 2003, p. 29) (Wittenbaum, et al.,

What Occurred During The Middle Ages
The Chivalry period lasted almost 5 centuries and took place during the Middle Ages in western
Europe.
It grew as a mass in the 12th century, stood still during the 13th century and then decayed during the
last 3
centuries of its lifetime. The Age of Chivalry took place in the Middle Ages. During the Middle Ages,
nobles
started to fight one another contantly. Some empires and estates becames better at it and improved
over the
time. Which cause by the 1100s to for a code of behaviour or a standard to survive in battle.
The Code of Chivarly was a standard everyone knew about a knight. They were said to be loyal,

Classical feudalism, which developed in and after
the 10th century. It was only toward the year 1000 that the term fief began to be used instead of
benefice. Feudalism
was a contractual system of political and military relationships. It was characterized by giving
someone fiefs in
return of politcal or military services. The feudal method of holding land was by fief; the grantor of
the fief was the
suzerain, or overlord, and the recipient was the vassal. This formal procedure served to cement the
personal
relationship between lord and vassal; after the ceremony the
lord invested the vassal with the fief, usually by giving him some symbol of the transferred land.
Honors or rights, as
well as land, could be granted as fiefs. With the advent of hereditary succession and primogeniture,
renewal of the
fief by the heir of the deceased became customary, and little by little the fief became hereditary. The
feudal system
rested on the unsettled conditions of the times and thus on the need of the lord for armed warriors and

Cross Cultural Issues In Human Resource Management
Cross cultural management is the subject field management in a cross cultural context. Cross cultural
management takes place when a manager handles someone from a different cultural background. This
challenge in management is very common as businesses expand globally, hiring immigrants and work
to increase diversity. It includes the study of the influence of societal cultivation on top management
practices. Organizing a business in a diverse culture environment can be challenging but it is not
something that cannot be achieved. Nowadays, some organizations have started special awareness
programs in cross cultural management so that they can work with less cultural issues and embrace the
benefits that they gain from cross cultural management. However, there are many still fail to
understand the importance of bringing individuals from diverse backgrounds together. Most managers
think that by implementing such programs are just waste of time and resources.
From my perception, I think that the topic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Business Environments And The Workplace Before Entering...
I learned a lot of things this half year, although the most of them were negative. I found myself too
vulnerable to suit the business environments and the workplace before entering this class. I was not
brave to be the first one to express my opinions in front of others; I was weak at facing challenges, and
I always felt nervous and difficult to handle them; I could not focus on one thing too long because I
got distracted from a lot of temptation. The worst thing was: I hold my transcripts from undergraduate
school and felt like I was ready to go to workplace and I was very sure about my believing; I did not
recognized what my weakness were, and I always considered myself a good worker. In realty I was
not that good enough to be a moderate worker. It is necessary for an accountant in today s public
accounting companies to obtain different soft skills rather than only calculate numbers, and also
important for him or her to update their knowledge in time to accommodate the clients needs and
fulfill their objectives. I would say that the most important thing, rather than those negative sides of
myself, is gaining a chance to get rid of my weakness in both hard and soft skills and grow to be
stronger in mentality. Before stepping into the business world, I am studying on becoming a real
businesswoman here in this class, and now I have changed and grow.
For several times during the semester, I did review all my tasks and reflected on what I learned, which
was very helpful and

A Short History Of Progress Summary
A Short History of Progress Written by Mister Ronald Wright, talks about the progress and the issues
of having too much change occur to a civilization, and how it can affect the outcome results of a
healthy progressing community. He mentioned the ups and downs that occurred to some civilizations
and how some triumphed while others did not. Which leads to the main dilemma Wright argues about,
which is the current destruction of the environment around us. Over exploiting nature, over expanding,
and overpopulating are problems that past societies have come across and is now occurring in our
time. These things are what helped societies prosper during certain moments in history but they are
now causing problems because we as people are abusing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He grabs our attention by making us think about the three philosophical questions that the painter and
writer Paul Gauguin asked in one of his paintings. Where do we come from? What are we? Where are
we going? Wright tends to focus on the third question throughout the book to answer where we are
heading. He mentioned how some of the past history has been a cycle of what he calls a progress trap.
A progress trap is an action or notion that may help gain power, wealth, or some type of benefit for
some time but may result catastrophic at the end. That is why he focused on the patterns in past
civilization to see their rise and fall in history. Those civilizations that achieved amazing things, for
example the Mayan and Sumerians, would then fall victims to the success they once achieved. Wright
packs his book with proof that our longing for more is leading us towards the same destruction like
many great civilizations have in the past. We as people are causing great harm to the ecosystem, which
is something explained by Wright as a type of impulse that people have had all through history. It is
something we need to find a solution for and put into action quickly. Mister Wright at the end made a
good point Now is our last chance to get the future right (Wright

Extraversion, Agreeableness, And Neuroticism
According to the five personality traits listed in the textbook, Openness, Conscientiousness,
Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Jeff Tanner and Mary Anne Raymond describe self
concept as how you see yourself either in a positive or negative way. Your ideal self is how you would
like to see yourself. The products and services that would be successfully marketed to individuals are
as follow: Openness describes the degree to which a person is curious, original, intellectual, creative,
and open to new ideas in the market. According to Barrick, M. R., Mount, M. K. (1991), People in the
Openness degree are in the level of learning new skills, and they are also fabulous in doing well at
training. They are attached with validity of personality, cognitive ability, and dimensions measured by
an assessment center and a behavior description interview. A researcher, Wanberg, C. R., Kammeyer
Mueller, J. D. (2000), says it involve the open mindedness that leads them to search for huge
information and feedback about how they are doing and to develop chemistry, which leads to quicker
adjustment to the new job. At the other end of the spectrum, people in low openness may also likely

Past Memories Frosts Of Cole Matthews Mind
Past memories hinder in the hollows of Cole Matthews mind. And yet, an inspiriting element echoes
in the shadows of his beliefs. Can change bestow an ingredient of happiness or derive a recipe for
disaster? Ben Mikaelsen s, Touching Spirit Bear pertains the prospects of Cole Matthews a minor
whose emotions are misinterpreted. Cole s mind is challenged with a dilemma of thoughts, that
obscure his path to prosperity. Nevertheless, several individuals enlivened Cole in acquiring a sense of
positivity amongst himself. This has paved the path for a pivotal element to arise in the novel: change.
Change, a major theme is displayed in the novel, as Cole s persona has altered due to the attitudes

Also, this transition connects with Edwin s continuous support for Cole. In accordance with the Teslin

guidance about the Circle of Life, while being attacked by the Spirit Bear. Prior to the incident, Cole
mentioned, If I saw a Spirit Bear, I d kill it (18). Upon hearing Cole s comment, Edwin responds,
Whatever you do to the animals, you do to yourself... (18). Edwin s counselling is in relation to the
Spirit Bear incident, as Cole is disheartened by the dead baby sparrows.
As Cole stared at the tiny bodies, sadness flooded through him. The sparrows were so frail, helpless,
and innocent. They hadn t deserved to die. Then again, what right did they have to live? This haunted
Cole. Did the birds insignificant little existences have any meaning at all? Or did his (82)?
This portrays that Edwin s guidance impacted Cole s thinking, as Cole gave thought to his life and the
baby sparrows lives. Edwin has affected Cole personal growth, due to his societal influences and
suggestions. Garvey bestows a symbol of trust upon Cole, and acts as Cole s guardian, therefore
changing Cole s vulgar features. Garvey instills the principle of trust in Cole, as he provides Cole with

Watership Down
The extraordinary novel, Watership Down, by Richard Adams is an adventure filled, meaningful piece
of literature published in London around November 1972. Although the plot is about a group of
rabbits struggling to find home, the story can be interpreted as so much more. Of course the book can
be interpreted differently especially as times change. The general meaning however remains intact.
This piece is a great example of an author speaking their voice through writing.
The beginning of the novel takes place at the home of the Owsla Rabbits, which could be classified as
a corrupt democracy. When Fiver, one of the main character s, senses something terrible is going to
happen to his home, he convinces his brother Hazel and several others to ... Show more content on

This idea may be more important than others just because it gives somewhat of a moral lesson on how
to succeed in life. Without the rabbits great work ethic and strong will they would not have made it to
Watership Down. Even after they were worn to the brim and some even injured, they kept on going
because they had a good leader and a bright vision of their future. They continued to go even when
some had became skeptical. This leads into another small side note that, no one was ever left behind.
When Pipkin, a small loyal rabbit was injured, he was not left behind. The group came up with the
water raft idea to get him across the river, because they cared and looked out for one another.Hazel
also took the time to examine him and help to heal his foot so they could continue on with their
journey. You can almost trace this back to the beginning of the book, when Hazel and Fiver were
about to embark on their trip they could have saved themselves and left, but they didn t. They warned
the others and gave an invitation to anyone that wanted to go. They tried to save anyone and everyone
that they could, because they couldn t leave anyone

Whistleblower protection for employees of publicly traded companies
The statutes enforced by OSHA contain whistleblower or anti retaliation provisions that generally
provide that employers may not discharge or retaliate against an employee because the employee has
filed a complaint or otherwise exercised any rights provided to employees. Each law requires that
complaints be filed within a certain number of days after the alleged retaliation. Complaints may be
filed orally or in writing, and OSHA will accept the complaint in any language. (United State

Essay about State Wrestling Championship
In the first 20 seconds of the match, I had the first take down. I was working crossfaces, cheap tilts,
and everything else I knew after my takedown. Then, I did what I do best and gave him a swift, hard
crossface and cradeled him up. Squeezing with all my strength and might it took about 7 seconds of
him being on his back and he was pinned! It took a total of 55 seconds to pin my first opponent at
state.
After my win, my team was lined up to congratulate me; I was the only member from our team to pin
their opponent. The feeling of the referee raising my arm was one of the, if not, the best overwhelming
feeling I ve ever felt in my life. Knowing that I won that match on my own gave me great confidence

How Did Antoine Lavoisier Contribute To Chemistry
Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier was a French chemist in the chemistry field of science. He was also
known as the leader of the eighteenth century chemical revolution. He was born in Paris on August 26,
1743. His mother died at the age of five, although he had a close relationship with his father. Antoine
had one sibling, a sister. At the age of eleven, he entered the college known as Mazarin College.
Initially Antoine wanted to be an author. He submitted several essays in provincial competitions. Soon

He first weighed all the carbon dioxide and water that was produced by burning. Between these
experiments, he was able to determine that a substance in air combines with burnable materials, to
cause combustion. Antoine then called this substance, oxygen. This had a great impact because the
conclusion of it all was that Antoine Lavoisier was able to demonstrate that water is able to be
composed of a combination of oxygen and hydrogen. He demonstrated the role of oxygen in animal
and plant respiration. He showed that although matter changes its state in chemical reaction, the
quantity of matter is the same at the end as at the beginning of every chemical reaction, giving
evidence of the law of the conservation of matter. Antoine was making history by now because of how
successful he was. In 1755 Lavoisier was appointed to the Gunpowder Administration. As a result of
his improvements in the manufacture and delivery of gunpowder, France was able to send large
quantities to The American Colonies during the Revolutionary War. Lavoisier was then made a

Increasing Minimum Wage
Why the minimum wage should not be increased 211
The minimum wage is a topic which has been heavily discussed amongst the people of the United
Kingdom. Some think it should be lowered, some think it is at the right amount and others think it
should be increased. I was shocked when I found out what the minimum wage was as I thought how
could anyone live on such a little amount. I thought how could anyone afford to pay all of their bills
and everything else on top of that like food and clothes. But then I looked into it more and I realised
that the minimum wage is at that amount for a reason, these reasons are ones which I agree with.
The minimum wage is the same no matter where you live. For example, if you re on the minimum

Relationship Between Mexico And Mexico
The relationship of the United States and Mexico goes back centuries and the importance of this
relationship has gained more attention over the last decade. This relationship has gained attention due
to the enormous amount of problems Mexico is having economically and socially. Specifically, the
relationship with Mexico is important to the safety of our nation and U.S. self interest because of the
issues with drug trafficking, gang violence, and immigration. These influences on our country are vital
and play a pivotal role in our economy and rapport with Mexico. These problems are the results from

Why Vitamin C Helps Prevent The Common Cold Or Not
My topic is whether vitamin C helps prevent the common cold or not. In the Medical Journal of

of Australian National University for 18 months. A random number table was constructed to order the
medications sequentially, so each sequence of four numbers comprised all four types of medications.
The medications were issued to investigators in 400 sequentially numbered sets of three bottles, each
bottle containing the daily dose in three tablets. Of those 400 sets of medication, they were distributed
to 323 volunteers. As volunteers joined the study, they were given a set of three bottles and a
correspondingly numbered respiratory event card to record outcome. The code was retained by the

leading and managing changes Essay

Jones has been decreasing because of the rapid retail environmental changes, unhealthy cultures, and
global online attack. The problems of declining net profit in David Jones are creating make it essential
to apply the most suitable change management for company.
1.2 Aim The aim of this report is not only applying the change management theory, model, and style
for David Jones and David Jones CEO, Paul Zahra, but also supporting the arguments through case
studies in order to find practical solution.

it is supported by case studies that the linkage between inability of identifying of retail environmental
changes and Zahra s new rescue plan for David Jones failed because after the new rescue plan of
Zahra, net profit and share price continued to decrease. Moreover, the case study said that it may be a
good five years before strategy can be assessed properly (Waddell Waddell, Cummings Worley 2014).
On the other hand, Lewin s change model or action research model is not suitable for David Jones
case because of focusing on more problems in the organisation than concentrating on retail
environmental changes. The result of implementation of Lewin s change model or action research
model would be led to the strategic failure. The possibility of positive model of planned change for
David Jones makes it necessary for the company to use positive model.
3. THE CURRENT RESTRUCTURE OF DAVID JONES
3.1 Current business restructure analysis
Even though this report agrees with the current restructure and rescue plan of David Jones, which
were divided main three parts including eleven subparts that are renovating store policies, focusing its
core strengths, and transferring from traditional business to technologically oriented business, I want
to add two main parts that are sustainable training and focused marketing strategy.

Climate Change And Depletion Of Natural Resources
The growing concern of climate change and depletion of natural resources has meant an increase in
popularity of the term sustainable development . With this growing popularity there has also been a
rise in conflicting opinions on what sustainable development means and whether it is attainable, as
even after the release of the Brundtland report which offered a definition of sustainable development
there were still criticisms for it suggesting that economic growth, industrial modernization and market
imperatives should be key drivers and goals for all nations. (John Blewitt 2015) Thus taking away
focus on environmental and social sustainability. Focusing on renewable energy in North America and
their efforts to tackle climate change it can be argued that what their governments and multinational
corporations have done are just in the interest of economic growth rather than sustainable
development, particularly in the way that the United States refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.
Describe the origins of the concept
Sustainable Development is an ambiguous concept as individuals, governments and environmentalists
have different opinions on what true sustainability really is. There are many people that think that it
simply cannot be achieved and is just a term thrown around to convince people that development is a
good thing, whereas others believe that it is proven to work. Sustainable Development can be seen as
two completely different concepts, Visvanathan (1991) says that

How Nurses Administer Medications Safely Or How Existing...
Summary of the Study This research study is about how nurses administer medications safely or how
existing systems facilitate / hinder the medication administration, which has missed the opportunity
for the implementation of practical, effective, and low cost approach to optimize safety. The purpose
of the study is to pinpoint factors that facilitate and/or hinder successful medication administration,
which targets on three integral parts: nurse practices and workarounds, medication administration
workflow, and nature of interruptions and distractions during medication administration. In effect, the
findings showed three interrelated themes that facilitated successful medication administration in
some situations, but also acted as barriers in others. These interrelated themes include (1) system
configurations and features, (2) Behavior types among nurses, and (3) patient interactions. Some
system configuration and features acted as physical pressure for parts of the drug round, however,
some system effects were partly dependent on nurses inherent behavior, which were grouped as: task
focus and patient interaction focused . The task focus is a more organized workflow with fewer
interruptions, while patient interaction focused empowers patients to act as a defense barrier against
medication errors by being an active resource of information, a passive resource of information,
and/or a double checker . Thus, researchers concluded that in order to reduce

Compare And Contrast The Ways In Which The American Dream...
Compare and contrast the ways in which the American Dream is presented through Walter Younger in
Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun and Willy Lehman in Arthur Miller s Death of the Salesman
The American Dream is something many Americans desire. The desire to the mind set or belief that
anyone can be successful if they worked hard for what they ve been yearning. It is considered to be a
perfect life ; it can be full of money, contentedness or even love. There are many divergent opinions
given by people. Walter Younger from Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun and Willy Loman

Walter presumes that it s always money and how Mama can t use it in the right way. Walter later
responds that money is life, explaining to Mama that success is now defined by how much money one
has. This conversation takes place early in the play and reveals Mama s and Walters economic
struggles. However we see a turn of events when Walter plans to accept Mr. Lindner s offer. Walter is
not concerned with the degrading implications of the business deal; it is simply a way to recover some
of the lot money. However, Hansberry challenges Walter s crude interpretation of the American Dream
by forcing him to actually carry out the transaction in front of his son. Walter s inability to deal with
Mr. Linder marks a significant revision of his interpretation of the American Dream. Walter comes to a
realisation that money is not everything and how family is so much more valuable. During the late
1950 s money was defined as one of the main characteristics of a man, and who that man will become.
Walters dream is to obtain enough money to provide enough for his family, this dream of his suggests
how his American Dream is also vanished, as money was an immense part of this dream of his. Wily
Loman is the complete opposite; he fails to understand that there is so much more to becoming
successful than being rich. The failure to understand this concept brought him to a sudden death. Willy

Charter schools have faced some local opposition from the public school system. School districts and
teachers unions have opposed charter schools, arguing that they hurt district schools by siphoning off
motivated, high achieving students (Chilcote, 2011). While some view the new school option as a tool
in educational reform, others see it as divisive.
According to Timothy Magaw, the acceptance of charter schools has been mixed. He notes that the
effort to bring in charter schools was headed by Mayor Frank Jackson as an attempt to correct a failing
school system. By uniting charter schools with public schools, there are also extra levy dollars to be
gained. The collaboration was put in place to hopefully, massage those mid performing facilities into
high performing schools. Opportunities for collaboration might include, for instance, shared
enrollment systems or joint professional development for faculty (Magaw,

The Effect Of Polymer Membrane On The Engineering And...
Imaging proposal Introduction: Polymer membranes are gaining an ever growing attention in the
engineering and science disciplines [P.D.Chapman, T.Oliveira, A.G.Livingston, K.Li, Membranes for
the dehydration of solvents by pervaporation, J.Membr.Sci.318 (2008)5 37.]. They have been
conventionally used for size exclusion applications for instance micro filtration (MF),ultrafiltration
(UF),nanofiltration (NF),and reverse osmosis (RO). Membranes are used as support matrices for
immobilization in the fields of biosensors and enzyme based bioreactors [K. Gabrovska, J.Ivanov,
I.Vasileva, N.Dimova, T.Godjevargova, Immobilization of urease on nanostructured polymer
membrane and preparation of urea amperometric biosensor, Int.J.Biol.Macromol. 48(2011)620 626.].
Furthermore, affinity and ion exchange chromatography with functionalized membranes is
increasingly applied in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry [P.Ghosh, K.Vahedipour,
M.Lin, J.H.Vogel, C.A.Haynes, E.vonLieres, Zonal rate model for axial and radial flow membrane
chromatography. PartI: Knowledge transfer across operating conditions and scales, Biotechnol.

characterization of membrane properties is becoming essentially needed to expect the membrane
performance in a given application. In fact, these characterizations techniques should involve both
bulk and surface properties as well as the chemical as well as pore structure at

Henrietta Lack
In regard to the family of Henrietta Lacks suing John Hopkins Hospital, while I sympathize with their
viewpoints and claims, I believe their lawsuit is misguided and will not stand in court. John Hopkins
Hospital has a dark track record on handling African American patients no questions on that, but
unfortunately prior cases with similar issues have resulted in failure. Many of these abuses occurred
during the era of segregation and Jim Crow not only in the southern society but within the north as
well. That being the situation, wouldn t it be hypocritical on demanding justice from one
establishment while letting the rest of society go? Additionally to that David Lacks had given consent

The Responsibility Of Abigail In The Crucible By Arthur...
I think it s the kind of events that replays itself throughout history when cultures come under stress.
When societies come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for
essentially human sacrifices. They start looking around for somebody they can blame... (Margaret
Atwood). Throughout time people have engaged in actions that they later regret and instead of taking
it upon themselves they have simply given someone else the responsibility of the blame. This lack of
blameless responsibility takes place within a character named Abigail in Arthur Miller s book, The
Crucible. Abigail is a person that her immediate reaction is to blame someone else for her actions.
Abigail, is there any other cause than you have told me, for your being discharged from Goody
Proctor s service?... Parris asked (Miller 1132). ...It s a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman,
and I will not work for such a woman! Abigail replied (Miller 1132). Goody Proctor had suspicions of
her husband having an affair with Abigail and that is the real reason Abigail is no longer working for
the Proctors, but when Abigail was asked about the situation she of course made it seem as if it had
nothing to do with her and that she was innocent of any wrong doings. The situation that occurs with
Abigail is very similar to ones occurring today. An example from Psychology Today is that a student
gets caught cheating on a test and when he/she is caught cheating by the teacher, it

Creams and Custard Recipes
Crème Anglaise
Crème Anglaise is made of egg yolks, sugar and milk (or combination of milk and cream). It is usually
flavored with vanilla pod or natural vanilla extract, but it can be aromatized with chocolate, liqueurs,
nuts or spices.
Crème Anglaise
Yield: 350 g
Milk 250 g
Sugar 75 g
Egg yolks 80 g
Vanilla pod
Put milk, half of sugar and split vanilla pod in a saucepan and put on a stove.
Blanch egg yolks and rest of the sugar.
When milk and sugar is hot, around 80°C, pour some of the hot liquid over egg yolks and stir well.
This procedure is called tempering.
Pour the milk and yolk mixture to the pan and put it all back on stove. Cook stirring constantly until
cream reaches 84°C. You can use thermometer to determine the temperature or you can make a test
with a wooden spoon. When you coat the back of a spoon and go with your finger along. If the cream
doesn t run through the line, it has right consistency. It should be a little bit thicker than milk and it
shouldn t contain any visible specs.
Be careful not to overcook the cream because the yolks will curdle and you will not be able to fix that.
When it is done, strain through a sieve and cool.
Crème Chantilly
Crème Chantilly is simply lightly whipped cream flavored with a little bit of sugar and vanilla.
Weather you are making it with a whisk or with a help of a mixer, cream and the bowl you are making
the cream should be well chilled. The fat content in cream is very important; cream should contain

Social Roles in Society Essay
Social Roles in Society
Social psychology, as defined by the Microsoft Bookshelf, is the branch of human psychology that
deals with the behavior of groups and the influence of social factors on the individual. Social roles are
one of the many sub categories of social psychology. I believe social roles to be the way we, as
individuals, act in certain situations; such as home life, educational and economic statue, peer groups,
etc. The Prison Simulation by Haney, Banks Zimbardo is just one of the vast studies in this area. In
this study we will see how people take roles in life, and in simulated life situations. Social roles are
not fictitious, it is in fact a very real occurrence that many people deal with ever day, whether it be ...

I noticed that the inmates that were sentenced to life acted out much more than the inmates that were
only sentenced for a few years. At the time I took no great thought into this, but after reading this
study I have recalled the prison tour in my mind to critically analyze why this would be. I have come
to the conclusion that the life sentenced prisoners have nothing to lose by acting irrational and making
spontaneous decisions. On the other hand, the inmates with the shorter sentences have something to
look forward to when getting out. They do not necessarily need to act out to obtain attention, that is
not what they are looking for.
While looking on the Internet for yet another social role study, I came upon an old friend that also
happened to be online. I decided to discuss his situation rather than one of which does not effect me as
personally as this. My friend was and I guess still is a victim of alcoholism. My friend Matt is now out

times became violent as well as abusive towards Matt, his two younger siblings and his mother. I can

What Does It Mean To Be Gay Essay
Gay. What does it mean to be gay? It means you are a homosexual, being sexually attracted to people
of your own sex. Why should we legalize gay marriage? This is what I am here to talk about today.
Why is this illegal? If Australia is such a free country, people of the same sex should be able to marry.
It is discriminative. It is discriminative. Why is there this expectation that the opposite sex are meant
to marry.
According to a new study by Roy Morgan Research, the proportion of Australians who identify
themselves as gay or lesbian is increasing. There is no definite number of gay people living in
Australia, however the amount that are living here, and are in love are not allowed to get married. If
your friends was gay, would you hate them for it? Yes it would be a surprise, but would you be the
person translating hate to your friend because he or she is attracted to their own sex. I don t think any
of us really think of this much. We all assume that a boy or girls likes another boy or girl, however not
the same sex. Now, imagine, your friends comes up to you and says what boy do you like, who do you
like? But you actually like a girl. What do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I envision a change. I envision Australia to legalize gay marriages and support their homosexuality,
where many can openly admit they are gay, and they are married. I Australia to be a place where same
sex marriage occurs without any fuss from religion and/or politics. By legalising gay marriages in
Australia, there will be more equality in our country and those those can now marry their dearly

Too Big For Britches Essay
Due to strong usage; idiomatic expressions have infiltrated people s daily conversations. One certain
idiomatic expression that is popular, primarily in the southern region of the United States, is (they) are
too big for their britches or too big for one s britches. This is a common slang or idiomatic expression
that can fit into a physical context or even fit into southern cultural groups. The idiom is also
renowned throughout history and notable history contributors who used the expression. The meaning
behind idiomatic expressions is to get an exaggerated or ironic point across in order to express a
feeling or thought that cannot be expressed and lived literally. Like the saying too big for your britches
the expression originated from a southern representative, David Crockett, in the early 1800 s. His use
of the idiom was directed towards someone who was being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The only way a person who is not completely familiar with the idiomatic expression does not use the
joke correctly is if they are unfamiliar with what it means. In some cases, though users who are
familiar with it may use the expression in a similar way but not exactly equal to the situations with
conceited people. There may be a bystander who is trying to hook up (this is also an idiomatic
expression) with some a random bystander who is much more attractive but then gets rejected.
Someone who may have witnessed the situation may say that the person being rejected was being too
big for his britches . This is a form of changing context situation in order for the idiom to fit in place.
Southern people in particular like to manipulate the meaning slightly so that its usage can be expanded
to different situations. Other than that change there is no prominent change or context meaning within
the joke. It has remained that way since the early 1800 s and will more than likely stay that way as

Huckleberry Finn Character Analysis
Portrayed in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain reveals Huck s character to be
independent when he portrays himself as transparent, honest, and truthful; as a result, Widow Douglas
wants to civilize Huck because if he does not he will die according to his religion like his caretakers
say and will not go to heaven. In the piece, Twain reveals that ¨The widow she cried over me...called
me a poor lost lamb¨ (para. 3). By Widow Douglas naming him a ¨poor lost lamb¨ she thinks of him as
unordinary for being himself, an individual. The Widow wants to change his appearance and how he
acts so he can fit in with ¨white society¨. Huck disobeys what society feels he should will not get him

According to the piece Miss Watson argues that ¨she was going to live as to go to the good place¨
(para.6). The piece supports the argument that Huck does not want to be in heaven with Widow
Douglas or Miss Watson. Miss Watson has to keep a respectful way of living to go to heaven and
Huck does not plan to convert the same way as them. Huck is not being what they considered
¨respectful¨ and instead is getting into his old rags, running away, and uneducated. Another example,
in the piece is when Huck illustrates that ¨There was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the
truth¨ (para. 1). Huck refers to the author as lying in his stories in some cases just like Miss Watson
portrays herself as religious, but has an adopted son who she lives with that is not like society. She is
being a liar to the rest of the society because her religious allows her to be what she wants and that is
why she wants to change Huck because she is the religious one. Huck feels he is better off on his own
because he does not want to be raised by people who are not fully religious like they are claiming and
wanting Huck to be. To conclude, Huck is more comfortable having his freedom than what Miss
Watson is providing him

In The Time Of The Butterflies And Empress Orchid
In a metaphorical sense, Stanley Kunitz depicts human experiences through the piece The Layers as
all unfolding along the same constraints while in a constant struggle against mankind s free will. That
being said, the layers discussed in the verse above could be seen as the passage of time, each era
building upon those that came before it. This linear motion of time continues infinitely, yet is
paralleled by the rise and fall of empires, nations, and peoples across the globe. Both the novel In the
Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, and Empress Orchid by Anchee Min each highlight their own
eras, each its own layer. Although centuries apart, these two works coincide in the perspectives taken

In both novels each woman had a set way of perceiving the world, regardless of the fact they had not
yet encountered hardships based upon the gender norms of her society, either imperial China or
dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. Both Patria and Nuharoo were women, who after being
exposed to the gender bias of both their cultures, took on roles that fit within those parameters in
hopes of leading fulfilling lives as mothers and wives. Patria was coming out, hands first, as if
reaching up for something...[her] mind, [her] heart, [her] soul in the clouds. It took some doing and
undoing to bring [her] down to earth (Alvarez 44). In this sense Patria turned to religion and her faith
to guide her in her journey towards a good life and in turn following the traditional roles laid out for
her. She was willing to be as selfless as possible in order to ensure a place in heaven and a good
connotation to her name. This same saint like trait corresponds to that of Nuharoo who removed her
necklace and bracelets and took down her hairpins (Min 135). She was willing to give up some of her
most prized possessions in order to help pay for the growing damage caused by mass famine. This
action perfectly correspond with the notion that women must do

Race as a Factor to Be Hired for Certain Jobs
The overall goal of my interview processes and data collecting were to find answers to one question,
How do you believe race plays a factor in the ability to be hired for certain jobs? . Also, I wanted to
ask if any of the interviewees felt as if the inability to get the job was due to any stereotypes. Over the
course of different people I interview I received a wide range of answers, many of those siding with
the fact that race plays an enormous part, and most even having stories of how their race may have
hindered or helped them in the past due to different racial stereotypes.
During the process of planning my interviews, I decided that I needed to choose the interviewees from
a location of diversity and I felt that my own college peers would be perfect for the task. The first
interviewer I chose was a professor of the college, Jose Hernandez age 42, born and raised in El
Salvador. Professor Hernandez had lived in El Salvador until the age of 13 when his parents made the
decision to move to the United States to ensure that their children would receive better education and
opportunities. Once making it the U.S., he had to learn to read, write, and speak English and has now
made it as a successful Spanish Professor at Kennesaw State University. Professor Hernandez and I
decided to reserve a time during his office hours to meet. We met around noon and the interview lasted
for about forty minutes. From the interviews I had done, I received the most information and personal

Australia Post Executive Summary
Executive Summary
Early into his tenure as Australia Post CEO, Ahmed Fahour recognised that the postal services
industry was in a state of transition and the organisation needed an urgent change in direction if it was
to survive in the long term. The extremely challenging landscape for the national carrier led Fahour to
focus his efforts on innovative solutions with the potential to transform Australia Post s business
model and strategically position the organisation in the heart of the digital economy. The focus on
internally developing strategic capabilities through innovation has seen a shift towards the
prioritisation of its workforce engagement and diversity, which Fahour believes are paramount for
businesses looking to make innovative changes. Technology continues to pose significant
opportunities and threats for the postal services industry, and while it has been a major disruptor by
eroding mail volumes, on the other hand, the rapid uptake of online shopping has boosted industry
performance resulting in exponential growth in demand for parcel delivery services. The following

Literary Techniques Used In The Book Thief
1. What literary devices does Marcus Zusak employ in The Book Thief to engage his readers and
develop thematic ideas? The Book Thief (2005), written by Markus Zusak, centres around the journey
of the novels protagonist, Liesel Meminger, as she learns to understand the power of words during the
chaos of World War Two, narrated by Death. Lisel is a nine year old girl in Molching, Germany living
with her foster family, learning about the Nazis, the Jews and literature. Zusak examines the three
themes of death, guilt and the power of words through a number of techniques including imagery,
symbolism, personification and characterisation to explore what it is like to grow up in Nazi Germany
during World War Two. Zusak explores the theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zusak personifies Death and creates a character that is sympathetic, slightly cynical, yet humorous.
This allows for the narrator Death to become one of the most prominent characters and share similar
to attributes to the main characters. The personality of death is not cold and malicious, instead the
author surprises the reader by creating a character that is warm and sympathetic to the characters he
follows. Like the dead, he is a victim to circumstance and he frequently questions his purpose and the
intentions of his creator, much like the human characters do. By having a personified narrator with
similar attributes and intentions as the human characters, it allows for the audience to understand the
purpose of death. Death s prominence during that time with the concentration camps, battlefields,
disease, and starvation, makes the cold cruelty an emphasize to the setting which the reader cannot
forget. Even in parts of the novel where the worries of the war and conflict are forgotten and Liesel
lives the life of a seemingly ordinary child, Death is present. Suggesting that he knows everything that
all the characters know if not more. He becomes both an insightful narrator and a constant
foreshadowing device. He delivers uncomfortable and sometimes upsetting news in a straightforward
way that sometimes forces the reader to contemplate universal ideas such as death. In the second
paragraph of the novel, he

L Likability
Likability is an important aspect of persuasion. It is no coincidence that actors and actresses are all
attractive people; they make you want to see their works. The same applies to Sales Reps. This
phenomena is known as the Halo Effect, which refers to the idea that attractiveness enhances our
perception of the expertise of that person or persons. If you are not up to par to today s beauty
standards, try a few techniques to become more likable:
Listening When dealing with customers, call them by their name, be interested in what they have to
say, and ask questions. Attentiveness is an important skill for anyone involved in sales.
Praise Complimenting your clients is a good way to increase your likability and make that person s
day at the same time. Try to be as sincere as you can and compliment something you actually like
about that person.
Positive Association Positive association links your product with desirable things. For example,
everyone knows the brand Mercedes to be all about luxury. Brands such as these use attractive
models, the idea of luxury, and exclusivity to get their client base to associate their brand with
something their customers need to have. Positive association is a very powerful tool in marketing.
Contrast Get your customers to have a higher opinion of your product or service by comparing it to a

Cleo 5 To 7 Essay
Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless are French films that represent time as themes. By using time as an
important aspect of the film, the audience is drawn to the plot and eager to learn what the outcome is
after time runs out in the film. Time as a theme is possible through formal qualities of film that would
not be possible without these certain qualities. Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless may both have time as
significant themes, but each film uses time to create an original story.
Cleo from 5 to 7 is essentially about the story of a woman s past, present, and future. The setting is in
virtually real time created by the film while she confronts the probability of being sick with cancer

the real time of the film. The viewer gets to know more about Cleo s life and her personality, like her
self obsession as mirrors often appeared in the film and her celebrity status in Paris as a French singer.
The audience watches as Cleo kills time by keeping busy in order to find out if she truly has cancer or

behind following Cleo s day is to understand that by doing daily everyday activities, Cleo is

The theory tries to prescribe and describe how a group should communicate and be lead to be the most effective. According to the theory as put forth by Hirokawa and Gouran, groups are able to effectively make decisions and solve problems when group members fulfill five prerequisites. The first of these prerequisites is that the group members must understand the problem that needs to be solved. Second, they must determine the qualities of an acceptable solution to the problem. Third, group members must brainstorm any and all relevant and realistic solutions to the given problem. Next, each of the solutions should be compared to the qualities the group members previously set forth and agreed upon. Finally, the group members should select the solution that most closely reflects the desired characteristics. In addition to fulfilling these criteria, Group members employ appropriate interventions for overcoming cognitive, affiliative, and egocentric constraints that are interfering with the satisfaction of fundamental task requirements (Gouran Hirokawa, 2003, p. 29) (Wittenbaum, et al., 2004, p. ... Classical feudalism, which developed in and after the 10th century. It was only toward the year 1000 that the term fief began to be used instead of benefice. Feudalism was a contractual system of political and military relationships. It was characterized by giving someone fiefs in return of politcal or military services. The feudal method of holding land was by fief; the grantor of the fief was the suzerain, or overlord, and the recipient was the vassal. This formal procedure served to cement the personal relationship between lord and vassal; after the ceremony the lord invested the vassal with the fief, usually by giving him some symbol of the transferred land. • 5. Cross Cultural Issues In Human Resource Management Cross cultural management is the subject field management in a cross cultural context. Cross cultural management takes place when a manager handles someone from a different cultural background. This challenge in management is very common as businesses expand globally, hiring immigrants and work to increase diversity. It includes the study of the influence of societal cultivation on top management practices. Organizing a business in a diverse culture environment can be challenging but it is not something that cannot be achieved. Nowadays, some organizations have started special awareness programs in cross cultural management so that they can work with less cultural issues and embrace the benefits that they gain from cross cultural management. • 6. Business Environments And The Workplace Before Entering... I learned a lot of things this half year, although the most of them were negative. I found myself too vulnerable to suit the business environments and the workplace before entering this class. I was not brave to be the first one to express my opinions in front of others; I was weak at facing challenges, and I always felt nervous and difficult to handle them; I could not focus on one thing too long because I got distracted from a lot of temptation. The worst thing was: I hold my transcripts from undergraduate school and felt like I was ready to go to workplace and I was very sure about my believing; I did not recognized what my weakness were, and I always considered myself a good worker. In realty I was not that good enough to be a moderate worker. It is necessary for an accountant in today s public accounting companies to obtain different soft skills rather than only calculate numbers, and also important for him or her to update their knowledge in time to accommodate the clients needs and fulfill their objectives. I would say that the most important thing, rather than those negative sides of myself, is gaining a chance to get rid of my weakness in both hard and soft skills and grow to be stronger in mentality. Before stepping into the business world, I am studying on becoming a real businesswoman here in this class, and now I have changed and grow. He mentioned the ups and downs that occurred to some civilizations and how some triumphed while others did not. Which leads to the main dilemma Wright argues about, which is the current destruction of the environment around us. Over exploiting nature, over expanding, and overpopulating are problems that past societies have come across and is now occurring in our time. These things are what helped societies prosper during certain moments in history but they are now causing problems because we as people are abusing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He grabs our attention by making us think about the three philosophical questions that the painter and writer Paul Gauguin asked in one of his paintings. Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? Wright tends to focus on the third question throughout the book to answer where we are heading. He mentioned how some of the past history has been a cycle of what he calls a progress trap. A progress trap is an action or notion that may help gain power, wealth, or some type of benefit for some time but may result catastrophic at the end. That is why he focused on the patterns in past civilization to see their rise and fall in history. Those civilizations that achieved amazing things, for example the Mayan and Sumerians, would then fall victims to the success they once achieved. Wright packs his book with proof that our longing for more is leading us towards the same destruction like many great civilizations have in the past. We as people are causing great harm to the ecosystem, which is something explained by Wright as a type of impulse that people have had all through history. It is something we need to find a solution for and put into action quickly. Mister Wright at the end made a good point Now is our last chance to get the future right (Wright ... Although the plot is about a group of rabbits struggling to find home, the story can be interpreted as so much more. Of course the book can be interpreted differently especially as times change. The general meaning however remains intact. This piece is a great example of an author speaking their voice through writing. The group came up with the water raft idea to get him across the river, because they cared and looked out for one another.Hazel also took the time to examine him and help to heal his foot so they could continue on with their journey. It took a total of 55 seconds to pin my first opponent at state. After my win, my team was lined up to congratulate me; I was the only member from our team to pin their opponent. In the Medical Journal of Australia it described a study that was a double blind, randomized clinical trial with comparing the effects of different doses and formulations of vitamin C. Vitamin C doses at a daily dose was 0.03 g the placebo, and then 1 g, 3 g or Bio C with additives such as bioflavonoids 75mg, rutin 150 mg, hisperidin 150 mg, rose hip extract 750 mg, and acerola 150 mg that was taken at onset of a cold and the following two days. There were 400 healthy volunteers that were recruited from staff and students of Australian National University for 18 months. A random number table was constructed to order the medications sequentially, so each sequence of four numbers comprised all four types of medications. The medications were issued to investigators in 400 sequentially numbered sets of three bottles, each bottle containing the daily dose in three tablets. Of those 400 sets of medication, they were distributed to 323 volunteers. As volunteers joined the study, they were given a set of three bottles and a correspondingly numbered respiratory event card to record outcome. The code was retained by the manufacturer until ready to analyze results. These participants were instructed to take the medication when starting to experience two symptoms for a minimum of four hours before taking the medication. They also had to record their daily symptoms and the severity of them, the doctor visits and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, Lewin s change model or action research model is not suitable for David Jones case because of focusing on more problems in the organisation than concentrating on retail environmental changes. The result of implementation of Lewin s change model or action research model would be led to the strategic failure. The possibility of positive model of planned change for David Jones makes it necessary for the company to use positive model. 3. • 18. Climate Change And Depletion Of Natural Resources The growing concern of climate change and depletion of natural resources has meant an increase in popularity of the term sustainable development . With this growing popularity there has also been a rise in conflicting opinions on what sustainable development means and whether it is attainable, as even after the release of the Brundtland report which offered a definition of sustainable development there were still criticisms for it suggesting that economic growth, industrial modernization and market imperatives should be key drivers and goals for all nations. (John Blewitt 2015) Thus taking away focus on environmental and social sustainability. Focusing on renewable energy in North America and their efforts to tackle climate change it can be argued that what their governments and multinational corporations have done are just in the interest of economic growth rather than sustainable development, particularly in the way that the United States refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. Describe the origins of the concept Sustainable Development is an ambiguous concept as individuals, governments and environmentalists have different opinions on what true sustainability really is. There are many people that think that it simply cannot be achieved and is just a term thrown around to convince people that development is a good thing, whereas others believe that it is proven to work. Sustainable Development can be seen as two completely different concepts, Visvanathan (1991) says that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary of the Study This research study is about how nurses administer medications safely or how existing systems facilitate / hinder the medication administration, which has missed the opportunity for the implementation of practical, effective, and low cost approach to optimize safety. The purpose of the study is to pinpoint factors that facilitate and/or hinder successful medication administration, which targets on three integral parts: nurse practices and workarounds, medication administration workflow, and nature of interruptions and distractions during medication administration. In effect, the findings showed three interrelated themes that facilitated successful medication administration in some situations, but also acted as barriers in others. These interrelated themes include (1) system configurations and features, (2) Behavior types among nurses, and (3) patient interactions. Some system configuration and features acted as physical pressure for parts of the drug round, however, some system effects were partly dependent on nurses inherent behavior, which were grouped as: task focus and patient interaction focused . The task focus is a more organized workflow with fewer interruptions, while patient interaction focused empowers patients to act as a defense barrier against medication errors by being an active resource of information, a passive resource of information, and/or a double checker . Walter is not concerned with the degrading implications of the business deal; it is simply a way to recover some of the lot money. However, Hansberry challenges Walter s crude interpretation of the American Dream by forcing him to actually carry out the transaction in front of his son. Walter s inability to deal with Mr. Linder marks a significant revision of his interpretation of the American Dream. Walter comes to a realisation that money is not everything and how family is so much more valuable. During the late 1950 s money was defined as one of the main characteristics of a man, and who that man will become. Walters dream is to obtain enough money to provide enough for his family, this dream of his suggests how his American Dream is also vanished, as money was an immense part of this dream of his. When societies come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for essentially human sacrifices. They start looking around for somebody they can blame... (Margaret Atwood). Throughout time people have engaged in actions that they later regret and instead of taking it upon themselves they have simply given someone else the responsibility of the blame. This lack of blameless responsibility takes place within a character named Abigail in Arthur Miller s book, The Crucible.
