Essay On High School Dropouts
Every twenty six seconds a student drops out of high school and every day 7,200 students drop out of
high school in the United States. Which unfortunately leads to 3,03,000 students dropping out of high
school in the United States each year. Teenagers dropping out of high school has been a widely
discussed topic in America, with people debating whether high schoolers should be required to stay in
school until they are eighteen. As president, Barack Obama, made efforts to lower the number of
dropouts, by creating new laws that encourage students to finish school and graduate, earning their
diploma. Earning your diploma will allow you to use prior knowledge to create educated decisions,
fret from the number of risks that dropping out may result in, and will open the doors to a world full of
opportunity. At the end of 2015, the total dropout rate was 5.9%, which suggests that our country
should strive to lower the number of dropouts, by requiring students to receive their high school
diplomas.
Requirements of a successful adulthood include the abilities: problem solving, responsibility, and
independence. Since the requirements are learned at school, they are able to take the skills with them
throughout the rest of their lives. School challenges students in classes, such as science, to form
hypotheses. When they make the hypotheses, high schoolers use their prior knowledge and research to
assist them in creating the most educated hypothesis. In result, students gain the

Adelphia
Case Summary
The Allegations: Prosecutors say members of the cable company s founding family and two former
executives looted the firm on a massive scale, spending company funds on personal expenses, such as
a $12.8 million golf course. The firm has been accused of hiding business relationships between
Adelphia and entities tied to the founders and for inflating its financial results.

Timothy Rigas, former CFO

Integrity and Ethic: Concerns of whether the company had a proper ethic policies and procedures in
place, and if management was enforcing it. Also, concerns about the commitment of the managers,
proper transparency and corporation and input by the Audit committee. Also, concerns a centralized
structure and authority, where even decisions are centered within a few persons.
5) What concerns should have been raised in the following areas of risk assessment in Adelphia
strategy: changes in operating environment, new people and systems, growth technology, new
business, restructurings, and foreign operations?
In regards to the operating environment, there should be transparency and control not centralized on
those from the Riga s family. Opportunities should have been given independent individuals new in
the company, to be able to bring in new ideas. In regards to restructuring and foreign operations,
management would have thought of restructuring the whole company, where full reliance is not placed
on just those from the Riga s family.
6) What is your opinion on the importance of independence in corporate governance? What are the
most recent rules on corporate governance for public firms?
Independence in corporate governance fosters good management with no conflict of interest. A

Sabo s Essay Pigskin, Patriarchy, And Pain
Playing for Pain The satisfying feeling embrace my foot feels as I cross one lace over the next, pulling

certain crack of the cleats hitting the barren concrete resonate through the cinderblock locker room. In
unison, the other athletes around me head to the battlefield to take part in what is sure to be a war.
Everyone on this team was playing for a different reason, whether united or not, everyone had their
own motivation. Sabo believes in his essay, Pigskin, Patriarchy, and Pain , a child is learning to play
for a piece of candy, boys are taught to endure pain to prove manliness, and that athletes are motivated
to fight the coaches war is a completely false belief. Like a young child who learns to dance or sing
for a piece of candy, I played for rewards and playoffs (Sabo 98). Everyone is fighting the battle of the
sport for their own reason. Some play for rewards and others play for the competition. Growing up as
a young kid I remember I always played for the snack at the end of the game. As I have matured in my

Robert Russa Moton High School
In Virginia, it was very hard for a black student to receive a diploma because of the lack of education
they received in their schools. Unless they attended a private school, which black children seldom did,
they did not receive the same education as white students. Robert Russa Moton High School was one
of the first and only schools for blacks in Prince Edward County (Heinemann). This school was built
in 1939 to hold 180 students, and it lacked in many common things one may find at a white high
school, like a gymnasium, cafeteria, science labs, and sports fields (Heinemann). About ten years later,
because the number of students grew from 180 to 400, they built small buildings made of plywood
and tarpaper instead of building a new school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barbara Johns, a junior at Morton High, was very unhappy with the condition of the school. She was
the niece of Vernon Johns, a pastor and outspoken civil rights activist (June Friesen). On April 23,
1951, the principle of Morton High, M. Boyd Jones, was lured off campus by a call saying students
from Moton were hanging around the bus station instead of being at school. This was the perfect
opportunity for Johns to take action and put her idea of going on strike into action. Johns called an
assembly where she explained to the student body what was wrong with the condition of their school
and the classmates support overwhelmed her. For the rest of the day, the students layered the school
inside and out with signs saying things like, We want a new school or none at all or Down with the tar
paper shacks (Heinemann). The next day Johns as well as a couple other students went to the
Farmville Courthouse where superintendent T.J. Mcllwaine told them nothing would happen if they
did not return to class. The students however did not return to class until May 7. Spottswood Robinson
III and Oliver W. Hill, lawyers from the NAACP, were reluctant to come to Prince Edward County at
first when they got a call about the student lead strike at Morton High. When the lawyers met with the
committee of students, they realized how determined to make a difference these kids were and they
could not refuse. However, after taking their case, Robinson and

Declaration Of Independence Dbq
On July 4th, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress. This
document stated the independence of the new nation, The United States of America. After the battle of
Lexington and Concord the colonists started to show their wants and needs to separate from England.
Parliament decided to pass the Stamp Act which is, ¨a taxation measure designed to raise revenues for
a standing British army in America.¨ The main statement of this Act was ¨no taxation without
representation.¨ The colonists were angry at England because they could not vote for members of
Parliament and no colonists were members of Parliament either. They thought this was very unfair
treatment and they wanted to go against it. Parliament also said that the colonies could not trade
anything with anyone but England and this fired them up even more. They wanted the freedom to
trade with who they wanted to trade with instead of only being able to trade with one country,
England. Of course when they got made it started a huge cry and that the colonists should not be taxed
unless their own representatives approved the taxes. This is when the ¨no taxation without
representation¨ began. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

One of the documents that we borrowed was the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta is a ¨charter of
liberties to which the English barons forced King John to give his assent in June 1215 at Runnymede.
It is also a ¨document constituting a fundamental guarantee of rights and privileges.¨ Another
document that we used was the English Bill of Rights. This was passed on December 16, 1689 by the
Parliament of England. ¨The Bill creates separation of powers, limits the powers of the king and

Criminal Law-Involuntary Manslaughter .
Assignment on Involuntary manslaughter by abu md. Hossain.
There is no offence of homicide as such. A person cannot be charged with or convicted of homicide .
Homicide (Latin: homicidium, Latin: homo human being + Latin: caedere to cut, kill) means the
killing of a human being [Irving, Shae, ed (2009) and may be lawful where, for example, fatal force
was necessary to defend oneself. The two most important offences of unlawful homicide are murder
and manslaughter. Although both are common law offences, elements of murder and manslaughter
have been modified by Acts of Parliament and the penalties for each are statutory.
Until 1957, murder (the more serious of the two offences) was a capital offence that is, a sentence of

The Development of Gross negligence manslaughter
For many years the courts have used the terms recklessness and gross negligence to describe the fault
required for involuntary manslaughter, other than constructive manslaughter, without any clear
definition of either term. It was not clear whether these terms were merely two ways of describing the
same thing, or whether they represented two distinct conditions of fault.
All previous cases must now be read in the light of Prentice, Adomako and Holloway in the Court of
Appeal, and Adomako in the House of Lords. The background to the decisions is that the House of
Lords decided in Seymour that the law governing involuntary manslaughter, other than unlawful act
manslaughter, was the same as that of the statutory offence (now repealed) of causing death by
reckless driving, that is, that the fault required was Lawrence recklessness, as set out above subject to
the omission of any reference to a risk of causing damage to property. There had to be a risk of
physical injury to some other person [Kong Cheuck Kwnan]. According to this controversial decision
of the House of Lords in Seymour, the Lawrence direction was comprehensive and of general
application and the

Each element gave the stage a different feel that matched every scene , complementing each
brilliantly. The only element that lacked for me was lights, although very bright ; in my opinion the
reoccurring blue wasn t the best option. I feel if the lighting designer would have had more warmer
colored lights against the already vibrant set pieces, it would have made the stage pop more. But one
thing i did particularly fancy, were the costumes the characters wore and how they fit each character.
Each character s costume showed the dichotomy between the personalities and tastes of each
individual. For example Ilona played by Jane Krakowski was dressed in a scarlet / pinkish dress with a
high slit up the left side; showing her seductive character type. Meaning when i saw Ilona on stage, I
immediately knew who i was looking at . Lastly the sound effects included , like the door jingle sound
or The bike bell , added to the whole idea of being inside and outside of a retail building. These effects
gave the stage an outdoorsy feel , drawing you in , giving the audience illusions of really being in

Why Are We Dreaming Research Paper
Why do we dream? I see dreaming as benefiting humans by helping our conscious and subconscious
minds shake hands and come to an agreement, so to speak. Our brains operate on conscious,
subconscious and unconscious levels, and I believe there is a strong link between our subconscious
minds and our dreams. Perhaps the information we store in our subconscious minds during waking
hours manifest into these hallucinatory pictures while we sleep. The part of our brain which operates
on a conscious level is significantly diminished when we are asleep, which gives the subconscious
part of our brain more energy to process what it s learned or stored.
When the lights go out, Subconscious Brain raises the curtain and puts on a weird show while
Conscious Brain sits quietly in the audience. Subconscious Brain is like, Finally! I ve been waiting all
day for this! I m so jazzed! Meanwhile, Conscious Brain says, ... Show more content on

There is no part of the brain that is totally inactive during dream state, but of course some parts of the
brain are more active than others. One particularly active area of the brain during REM sleep is the
limbic system, which includes the hippocampus and the amygdala. This area of the brain is involved
in processing emotions and fear, among other things. The prefrontal cortex shows low activity during
REM sleep, which is responsible for logical reasoning and self control. During dreams, the brain
allows the controlling side of the brain to give way to the more primitive, less rational way of
thinking, which is better known as the Activation Synthesis Model of dreaming. The brain synthesizes
and interprets this internal activity and attempts to find meaning in these signals, which results in
dreaming. This model suggests that dreams are a subjective interpretation of signals generated by the
brain during sleep,

Ally darling come out come out wherever you are. Dion chanted. Out of nowhere Ally came out of the

this time Josh had already made his way out of the house and was about to leave the front yard. Josh
hoped for Dion to come out of the house, what now seemed so dark, but Dion never did. Ally was the
one who showed up and stood in the doorway, knowing she could not still leave the house. Later that

Why Elephants Should Be Banned
A small herd of elephants spends the afternoon grazing on the wind swept grass of the savannah in the
sweltering African sun. A few young calves playfully bounce around their mother s legs. This peaceful
vision is just a time of quiet before a bloody scene unfolds. What this small herd is blissfully unaware
of is that poachers are quietly stalking them with murderous intent. This herd of elephants has a
plethora of white gold . These poachers are after only one thing from the elephants, they are after their
tusk made of ivory. By the end of the day the herd will practically be obliterated with only a small
number of lucky survivors. Unfortunately, poaching elephants is not an atypical event throughout man
African countries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The US provided aid to those countries who stood to lose the most from the ban. Countries like
Botswana, Kenya, and Namibia had successfully managed the elephant populations within their
boundaries.
On a few occasions the ban has been lifted in order to allow countries to sell, for profit, the large
stocks of ivory tusks that have been accumulated from elephants who either died from natural causes,
poaching, or had to be destroyed. CITES has voted to lift the ban twice. Once in 1999 which resulted
in a one time sale of 60 tons of ivory and another lift was authorized in 2002 ( CITES revises ivory
trade policy. and Randerson, James 2). The administration of President William J. Clinton supported
the lifting the ban to allow the countries to sell remaining stocks of ivory as long as there was an
agreement to use a portion of the proceeds to fund conservation and preservation programs (Clinton
Statement on Proposals To Reopen Trade in Elephant Ivory and Whale Products. ).
There are 37 countries or range states through out sub Saharan Africa in which elephants are found
(Poilecot, N Gakoutou, and Taloua 9). To many indigenous people elephants are a source of bush
meat, but their white gold can prove to be a substantial reward for poachers. For example in Kenya

Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows
Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their
dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the
show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of us
are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance, some
examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality, and
violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and advertisements do
too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the dialogue occurring
between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are ways to unravel the sex
linked differences between characters in television programs; we can analyze the different forms in
which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and educational level individuals speak to
one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to demonstrate the sex linked differences
between a family and their gender roles and humor and drama are used to hide sexism. Furthermore,
the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many
television programs.
The television program: The Middle, is a sitcom based on a family (the Hecks) of five, whom are:
mother (Frankie, 52), father (Mike, 54), son (Axl, 23), daughter (Sue, 21),

Labor per square foot is the given rate per square foot of floor area. Initial Preparatory Work involves
all actions required to be completed before the contractor can begin working on the floor. There are
three parts to this section. Initially, all the furniture and fixtures (toilet, sinks not attached to walls)
need to be removed. Depending on the quantity/size of furniture/fixtures that need to be removed,
contractors will typically charge between $15 and $50 per hour. Customers can cut out this cost if they
agree to have the items removed prior to the contractor arriving. However, if it is agreed upon and the
items are not removed, the contractor will usually charge 150% of the normal rate, because this will
add additional time to the job, causing him to possibly run behind schedule for another job, and he
schedules jobs based on time estimates. The next part is the removal and disposal of the existing floor.
The price for this can range from $25 to $75 per hour, based on the type of flooring being removed.
Carpet and vinyl are easy to remove, thus would be on the low end. Tile is more difficult because
mortar is used to install it and all of that has to be broken up and removed. Again, the customer can
save during this phase if they do the removal themselves, with the same penalty if not removed prior
to the contractor arrival. The final part of this phase is repairing the subfloor. Costs for this repair vary
greatly on what needs to be repaired, and are usually

John F. Kennedy believed that Castro was becoming a threat and that he would become to powerful.
So on April 16, 1961, the CIA launched the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Over 2,000 Anti Castrolies stormed
up the Bay of Pigs in Southern Cuba. In fact, most of the Anti Castrolies were Cuban exiles who
disagreed with Castro s ideas for Cuba. For some months prior, the CIA had gathered these people to

term used in war. Kennedy then ordered for Krushchev to dismantle the sites and return all offense
weapons. Krushchev did not stop but most ships either turned back or had nothing dangerous. On
October 26, close to the missile sites being operational, Krushchev finally considered a deal with
Kennedy to dismantle the sites, for he too feared nuclear confrontation. The deal was that if the U.S.
did not invade Cuba and that they took their Jupiter missiles in Turkey back, the Soviets would take
their missiles(Office of the Historian). A few days later the deal was made and nuclear war was

Nevertheless, the world changing events of the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis brought three

Differences in the Use of Physical Restraint for the...
Falls and physical restraint use are a common practice in the care of the elderly and many efforts have
been made to decrease this practice. Falls and injuries associated with restraint usage are a major issue
because of their adverse outcome on mortality and morbidity. Prevention of falls and injuries is the
most common reason for mechanically or physically restraining the elderly in healthcare facilities
(Arbesman Wright, 1999). Its use has, conversely, been examined both from an ethical perspective,
since restraints can be observed as coercive and furthermore because of the absence of proof of their
effectiveness in preventing falls, as well as the adverse effects associated with their use (Capezuti et
al., 1989). The main purposes of this integrative review were to investigate differences in the use of
physical restraints over time, to identify risk factors for falls among people 60 and older, to evaluate
the effects of a restraint program on staff awareness, work environment and practice of
physical/mechanical restraints and the quality of care. A mechanical restraint is a device used to
inhibit free physical movement which includes limb restraints, mitts, wristlets, anklets, jackets and
wheelchair restraints (Powell et al., 1989). Restraints refers to any device attached to or adjacent to a
person s body that cannot be controlled or simply removed by the person and intentionally restricts a

Essay about The Fashion Channel
1. Interpretation of consumer and market data.
From its inception in 1996 until recently, The Fashion Channel (TFC) enjoyed great success by
appealing to as a broad an audience as possible. Overall viewer numbers were the main focus, and so
long as TFC had no significant competition in terms of the fashion specific content it offered, this
something for everyone approach was a winner.
But competitors such as CNN and Lifetime made note of TFC s success. They began to offer fashion
specific programming. Consumers now have a choice, and the ratings show that non loyal consumers
are starting to choose alternatives to TFC. Reasons for this can be found in the recent Alpha research
study on customer satisfaction, which shows that when it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TFC s senior vice president of marketing, Dana Wheeler, believes increasing both viewership (ratings)
and advertising pricing would increase the advertising revenue that the company was seeking. She
developed three different scenarios to mix their most popular viewing segments and the expected
results it would have on advertising pricing (CPM).
The first scenario would target the Fashionistas, the Shoppers/Planners and the Situationalists. This
would create a broader marketing base, but miss the primary group that advertisers are seeking. Based
on this scenario, the viewership could increase over time from 1.0% to 1.2%, while the average CPM
would decrease from $2.00 to$1.80 (see Exhibit 4). Overall, this scenario would generate an increase
in advertising revenue of 8% from 2006 revenues to $249 million.
Scenario #2 narrows the focus on the Fashionistas, preferred by advertisers. In this scenario, the
average viewership rating would drop from 1.0% to .8% due to the narrow focus, but the CPM would
increase dramatically from $2.00 to $3.50 resulting in an increase of 40% in advertising revenue or
roughly $92 million (see Exhibit 4). This scenario would also require and additional programming
cost of $15 million per year, but given the additional revenue it would generate, the investment seems

Middle School Students Participating In Competitive Sports
Middle school students competing in competitive sports is a highly debated issue. If I had to choose, I
believe that competitive sports are important to the daily lives of people. Some people believe that
competitive sports is a good way to bring forth your full effort into both sports and many other things.
While others believe that kids shouldn t jeopardize themselves just because of a practice or a game.
Overall, students should be able to compete in competitive sports. One reason that competitive sports
are extremely healthy for kids is that study shows that sports teach kids to be leaders, learn to play by
the rules and also that it s okay to make mistakes. For example, when someone starts to play
basketball but is totally inexperienced while others are totally experienced, it will teach them to bring
their full effort to not fall behind on his/her team. Also in sports it teaches them life lessons that they
are going to be using every single day, like how to control emotions, being healthy is important, and
many more. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Freewill In A Clockwork Orange And The Matrix
In the novel A Clockwork Orange by Burgess and the film The Matrix directed by the Wachowski
Brothers, various techniques are employed to examine freewill. Juxtaposition and the storyline are
used to explore whether freewill is possible. To exhibit that freewill is important, the creators of both
texts utilise similes and irony. To demonstrate the consequences of freewill, dialogue, similes and
onomatopoeia are utilised by the creators.
The Wachowski Brothers and Burgess both consider whether freewill is possible through the use of
similes and irony. In A Clockwork Orange, Alex feels others around him are trying to take away his
freedom and control him. Therefore, he commits violent and immoral acts as to him, it is the only
choice not controlled by someone else. Burgess even describes the window of a law abiding citizen to

decision to misbehave on the fact that he wants freedom, in a way he has been controlled to misbehave
as something has influenced his opinion too and consequently, he loses his freewill also. Similarly,
Neo is given a choice between taking the red pill and finding out the reality of The Matrix or taking
the blue pill and returning to The Matrix oblivious to the truth. Even if Neo chose the blue pill, he
essentially has still made the choice to not have the truth and therefore leads to freewill. Likewise,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Derivatives
Derivatives are financial contracts whose price is either linked to the price of an underlying asset,
commodity, rate, index or the occurrence or significance of a certain event. The phrase derivative
originated from how the price of these contracts is derived from the price of some underlying
commodity, security or index or the magnitude of an event. The set of financial instruments that
include futures, forwards, options and swaps are referred to by the term Derivative. A derivative can
be combined with a security or loan which will be then called a hybrid instrument or alternatively a
structured security and structured financing. (Dodd, R., 2002).
Derivatives trading take place in two markets, the over the counter market (OTC) and the organized
derivative exchange markets. Contrary to the OTC markets that allow derivatives contracts to be

Population Control In Vonnegut
In 2BR02B, Vonnegut provides a fruitful, dark, and mind bending story. Vonnegut s story represents
the values of death and life when he says, [d]eath, barring accidents, was an adventure for volunteers
(Vonnegut). This reveals that there are those who consider death an adventure and not an end. His
story illustrates the toll of human nature on humanity, no matter the situation. In particular, Vonnegut
utilizes a story of population control to propel his ideas further. Furthermore, Vonnegut employs the
short story to describe the inconsistencies of population control. Ultimately Vonnegut s illustration
paints population control as a heartless act against humanity. However, Vonnegut s overexerts the idea
of population control being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The symbolism between the Painter and the Mural is a salient contrast within Vonnegut s story. This
contrast is an intentional comparison used to highlight the ultimate behavior of humanity amongst a
form of population control as inhumane as gas chambers. The painter acts as symbolism of humanity s
rejection. The mural acts as the glorification of the control. The Painter gives off a careless attitude
and a slight rejection towards the population control in the story. In response to the orderly s
comments the painter scorns, You think I m proud of this daub? You think this is my idea of what life
really looks like (Vonnegut). This reveals the painter s attitude towards population control.
Furthermore, it solidifies the fact that the painter represents humanity s rejection. In direct relation, of
course, is the mural. The mural itself, is a representation of all the important people of the hospital
staff. Moreover, the mural acts as a glorification and acceptance of the population control. Together,
the painter is seen filling the faces of these people, simultaneously rejecting that the mural, [l]ooks just
like heaven or something (Vonnegut). What the contrast reveals in a deeper sense is humanity (the
painter) continuing to accept the inhumane population control (painting the mural) regardless of their
rejection. It worthy to note that the acceptance of population control varies from each human being.

Discrepancy Of Wealth In Canada
There is a growing discrepancy of wealth in Canada. The gap between the wealthy and the poor
continues to grow. Seventy percent of wealth in Canada belongs to the most affluent section of Canada
s population (Mojtehedzadeh, 2014) . Many believe that Canada is not going through such a dramatic
disparity between rich and poor in comparison to other countries. However, the rich get richer, while
the poor get poorer. The gap between the wealthy Canadians and the rest is constantly growing and the
primary reasons are the rising unemployment rate in Canada, globalization, inequality in wages and
salaries, and high education rates. One of the main factors that increases disparity between the rich
and the poor is the unemployment rate in Canada. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While import costs for goods and services are rising, the average income is not. Imports costs are
increasing as the value of the Canadian dollar falls. People who are working for a minimum wage
have almost no chance to purchase their own property in the near future. Housing prices in Canada are
constantly growing and are reaching record highs. In Canada, the average cost of living is about
$20,164 per year; which makes it quite difficult for individuals earning a minimum wage to support
themselves (Young, 2015). The increasing cost of living is often mentioned from consumers based on
an eye test. However, with the fallen value of the Canadian dollar, this is becoming truer by the day. In
its most recent decline, the Canadian dollar has decreased by fourteen percent to just above seventy
three cents US (Sreauss, 2015) Canada imports almost 81% percent of its fruits, vegetables and nuts.
Thus, as the Canadian dollar decreases in value, the cost of these items has increased. This results in
families spending more of their income on living expenses. Unfortunately for Canadians, their income
has not increased at the same rate (CBCNEWS, 2015). For individuals on social assistance, the
amount received rarely covers both the cost of shelter and food, leaving many to rely on food banks.
On social assistance, a family would need to spend 37% of its income on food and 69%

Maya Lin s Vietnam Servicemen Memorial

for all to see, such as outdoor artwork. The Maya Lin s Vietnam Veterans Memorial and The Three
Soldiers are two of the masterpieces that are located at Washington D.C. Though both made by
different authors, they are connected to the Vietnam war and have a strong impact of remembering the
war. The Three Soldiers was created by Frederick Hart two years after the Memorial Wall in 1982.

While The Three Soldiers represent the survivors, the wall is to remember the ones that lost their lives
during the Vietnam war. The artist that designed the wall was Maya Lin who was a student from Yale
University, who participated in a competition for creating a memorial to honor the serviceman.
Though her getting a B in her class for the design, she had won the competition which led to what we
have today in the memorial wall. Many people were really against the wall since it felt like lacked the
patriotic symbol to remember the lost lives of servicemen. The black hue color resulted in Tom
Cathcart to state the universal color of shame and sorrow and degradation. This was one of many

of black granite gabbro that starts of very small on one side, gradually increasing in size to represent
the scare left behind by remembering the fallen but not forgotten soldiers. The names of the estimated
58,000 soldiers also disappear when rain is present and reappear when dried up. It would be
considered an installation art work since you can experience the wall by touching it and walking

Equipped with razor sharp propeller and the ability to fly thousands of feet above the ground, drones
have caused problems in the past and still are a risk to the general health of the public. Authors Rocci
Luppicini and Arthur So write that safety (21.24%) and law and regulation (25.66%) are the most
frequently cited concerns in connection with commercial drone use. Once drones create the sense that
lives are threatened when they are operating within a society, the immediate concern is drone safety
(p. 111). Although not the biggest concern, safety is still thought to be one of the bigger problems in
regards to drones and it is a top priority that this issue is resolved. Firstly, it is not the case that drones
are just death traps flying over our heads and it is certainly not the case that they are just going to fall
on our heads; however, there are still many possible scenarios where drones can jeopardize our safety.
Companies like DJI and GoPro are constantly working on making their drones better and safer but
there is still room for human error and drones, like with all machines, can never be a hundred percent
safe. One concern with drone safety is that they often cause a nuisance for aircrafts and air traffic
controllers when the people operating the drones fly them too high. There have been several instances

Corinthians 15
The Grace of God (1 Corinthians 15:9 10)
Corinthians 15 is intensively talking about the Resurrection of Jesus. Greeks believed in the
immortality of the soul, but did not believe in the bodily resurrection.
Corinthian church members who were affected by this Greek idea had a tendency to not believe in the
bodily resurrection of Jesus. In response, Paul proved the validity of the Resurrection by presenting
authoritative evidence of the Old Testaments and the evidence of witnesses to the bodily resurrection
of Jesus. The Resurrection did not happen in the corner secretly, but it was the historical fact that
many people witnessed at the same time. Thus, many people saw the resurrected Jesus as the spiritual

The word grace is the word translated for Charis in the Greek scriptures. Because it is the grace that
comes from God, it is called, Charis to theo, which is the grace of God. The word grace is a word that
points to the grace of God s redemption that came to us in Christ. The mercy of God who loves the
sinner is the grace. Grace is the love of God who sent Jesus to this earth to save sinners. The grace of
God is that we have changed through Jesus Christ, in other words, the gospel, and that we live in this

  • 2. Essay On High School Dropouts Every twenty six seconds a student drops out of high school and every day 7,200 students drop out of high school in the United States. Which unfortunately leads to 3,03,000 students dropping out of high school in the United States each year. Teenagers dropping out of high school has been a widely discussed topic in America, with people debating whether high schoolers should be required to stay in school until they are eighteen. As president, Barack Obama, made efforts to lower the number of dropouts, by creating new laws that encourage students to finish school and graduate, earning their diploma. Earning your diploma will allow you to use prior knowledge to create educated decisions, fret from the number of risks that dropping out may result in, and will open the doors to a world full of opportunity. At the end of 2015, the total dropout rate was 5.9%, which suggests that our country should strive to lower the number of dropouts, by requiring students to receive their high school diplomas. Requirements of a successful adulthood include the abilities: problem solving, responsibility, and independence. Since the requirements are learned at school, they are able to take the skills with them throughout the rest of their lives. School challenges students in classes, such as science, to form hypotheses. When they make the hypotheses, high schoolers use their prior knowledge and research to assist them in creating the most educated hypothesis. In result, students gain the ... In regards to the operating environment, there should be transparency and control not centralized on those from the Riga s family. Opportunities should have been given independent individuals new in the company, to be able to bring in new ideas. In regards to restructuring and foreign operations, management would have thought of restructuring the whole company, where full reliance is not placed on just those from the Riga s family. 6) What is your opinion on the importance of independence in corporate governance? • 4. Sabo s Essay Pigskin, Patriarchy, And Pain Playing for Pain The satisfying feeling embrace my foot feels as I cross one lace over the next, pulling tighter as the leather of the cleat begins to hug my foot. Others around me are doing the same as the certain crack of the cleats hitting the barren concrete resonate through the cinderblock locker room. In unison, the other athletes around me head to the battlefield to take part in what is sure to be a war. Everyone on this team was playing for a different reason, whether united or not, everyone had their own motivation. Sabo believes in his essay, Pigskin, Patriarchy, and Pain , a child is learning to play for a piece of candy, boys are taught to endure pain to prove manliness, and that athletes are motivated to fight the coaches war is a completely false belief. Like a young child who learns to dance or sing for a piece of candy, I played for rewards and playoffs (Sabo 98). Everyone is fighting the battle of the sport for their own reason. Some play for rewards and others play for the competition. Growing up as a young kid I remember I always played for the snack at the end of the game. As I have matured in my ... I was never perceived by anyone as being more or less manly because of my incident. • 5. Robert Russa Moton High School In Virginia, it was very hard for a black student to receive a diploma because of the lack of education they received in their schools. Unless they attended a private school, which black children seldom did, they did not receive the same education as white students. Robert Russa Moton High School was one of the first and only schools for blacks in Prince Edward County (Heinemann). This school was built in 1939 to hold 180 students, and it lacked in many common things one may find at a white high school, like a gymnasium, cafeteria, science labs, and sports fields (Heinemann). About ten years later, because the number of students grew from 180 to 400, they built small buildings made of plywood and tarpaper instead of building a new school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Barbara Johns, a junior at Morton High, was very unhappy with the condition of the school. She was the niece of Vernon Johns, a pastor and outspoken civil rights activist (June Friesen). On April 23, 1951, the principle of Morton High, M. Boyd Jones, was lured off campus by a call saying students from Moton were hanging around the bus station instead of being at school. This was the perfect opportunity for Johns to take action and put her idea of going on strike into action. Johns called an assembly where she explained to the student body what was wrong with the condition of their school and the classmates support overwhelmed her. For the rest of the day, the students layered the school inside and out with signs saying things like, We want a new school or none at all or Down with the tar paper shacks (Heinemann). The next day Johns as well as a couple other students went to the Farmville Courthouse where superintendent T.J. Mcllwaine told them nothing would happen if they did not return to class. The students however did not return to class until May 7. Spottswood Robinson III and Oliver W. Hill, lawyers from the NAACP, were reluctant to come to Prince Edward County at first when they got a call about the student lead strike at Morton High. • 6. Declaration Of Independence Dbq On July 4th, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress. This document stated the independence of the new nation, The United States of America. After the battle of Lexington and Concord the colonists started to show their wants and needs to separate from England. Parliament decided to pass the Stamp Act which is, ¨a taxation measure designed to raise revenues for a standing British army in America.¨ The main statement of this Act was ¨no taxation without representation.¨ The colonists were angry at England because they could not vote for members of Parliament and no colonists were members of Parliament either. They thought this was very unfair treatment and they wanted to go against it. Parliament also said that the colonies could not trade anything with anyone but England and this fired them up even more. They wanted the freedom to trade with who they wanted to trade with instead of only being able to trade with one country, England. Of course when they got made it started a huge cry and that the colonists should not be taxed unless their own representatives approved the taxes. A person cannot be charged with or convicted of homicide . Homicide (Latin: homicidium, Latin: homo human being + Latin: caedere to cut, kill) means the killing of a human being [Irving, Shae, ed (2009) and may be lawful where, for example, fatal force was necessary to defend oneself. The two most important offences of unlawful homicide are murder and manslaughter. The Development of Gross negligence manslaughter For many years the courts have used the terms recklessness and gross negligence to describe the fault required for involuntary manslaughter, other than constructive manslaughter, without any clear definition of either term. It was not clear whether these terms were merely two ways of describing the same thing, or whether they represented two distinct conditions of fault. All previous cases must now be read in the light of Prentice, Adomako and Holloway in the Court of Appeal, and Adomako in the House of Lords. The background to the decisions is that the House of Lords decided in Seymour that the law governing involuntary manslaughter, other than unlawful act manslaughter, was the same as that of the statutory offence (now repealed) of causing death by reckless driving, that is, that the fault required was Lawrence recklessness, as set out above subject to the omission of any reference to a risk of causing damage to property. There had to be a risk of physical injury to some other person [Kong Cheuck Kwnan]. Each element gave the stage a different feel that matched every scene , complementing each brilliantly. The only element that lacked for me was lights, although very bright ; in my opinion the reoccurring blue wasn t the best option. I feel if the lighting designer would have had more warmer colored lights against the already vibrant set pieces, it would have made the stage pop more. But one thing i did particularly fancy, were the costumes the characters wore and how they fit each character. Each character s costume showed the dichotomy between the personalities and tastes of each individual. For example Ilona played by Jane Krakowski was dressed in a scarlet / pinkish dress with a high slit up the left side; showing her seductive character type. Meaning when i saw Ilona on stage, I immediately knew who i was looking at . Lastly the sound effects included , like the door jingle sound or The bike bell , added to the whole idea of being inside and outside of a retail building. These effects gave the stage an outdoorsy feel , drawing you in , giving the audience illusions of really being in 1930 s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Why Are We Dreaming Research Paper Why do we dream? I see dreaming as benefiting humans by helping our conscious and subconscious minds shake hands and come to an agreement, so to speak. Our brains operate on conscious, subconscious and unconscious levels, and I believe there is a strong link between our subconscious minds and our dreams. Perhaps the information we store in our subconscious minds during waking hours manifest into these hallucinatory pictures while we sleep. The part of our brain which operates on a conscious level is significantly diminished when we are asleep, which gives the subconscious part of our brain more energy to process what it s learned or stored. When the lights go out, Subconscious Brain raises the curtain and puts on a weird show while Conscious Brain sits quietly in the audience. Subconscious Brain is like, Finally! I ve been waiting all day for this! I m so jazzed! Meanwhile, Conscious Brain says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no part of the brain that is totally inactive during dream state, but of course some parts of the brain are more active than others. One particularly active area of the brain during REM sleep is the limbic system, which includes the hippocampus and the amygdala. This area of the brain is involved in processing emotions and fear, among other things. The prefrontal cortex shows low activity during REM sleep, which is responsible for logical reasoning and self control. During dreams, the brain allows the controlling side of the brain to give way to the more primitive, less rational way of thinking, which is better known as the Activation Synthesis Model of dreaming. The brain synthesizes and interprets this internal activity and attempts to find meaning in these signals, which results in dreaming. This model suggests that dreams are a subjective interpretation of signals generated by the brain during sleep, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A few young calves playfully bounce around their mother s legs. This peaceful vision is just a time of quiet before a bloody scene unfolds. What this small herd is blissfully unaware of is that poachers are quietly stalking them with murderous intent. This herd of elephants has a plethora of white gold . The US provided aid to those countries who stood to lose the most from the ban. Countries like Botswana, Kenya, and Namibia had successfully managed the elephant populations within their boundaries. • 13. Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of us are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance, some examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality, and violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and advertisements do too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the dialogue occurring between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are ways to unravel the sex linked differences between characters in television programs; we can analyze the different forms in which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and educational level individuals speak to one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to demonstrate the sex linked differences between a family and their gender roles and humor and drama are used to hide sexism. Furthermore, the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many television programs. The television program: The Middle, is a sitcom based on a family (the Hecks) of five, whom are: mother (Frankie, 52), father (Mike, 54), son (Axl, 23), daughter (Sue, 21), ... If you have to look at those scratches in the living room floor, the foot traffic stains down the hallway, the Kool aid stains under the dining room table, or the chipped tile in the kitchen one more time, you might go off the edge and wind up in the looney bin. You are tired of going to a friend s home and secretly envying their perfect looking floors. Gone are the days of flipping through magazines and drooling over the pictures of nicely decorated rooms with flooring that looks amazing. Labor per square foot is the given rate per square foot of floor area. Initial Preparatory Work involves all actions required to be completed before the contractor can begin working on the floor. There are three parts to this section. Initially, all the furniture and fixtures (toilet, sinks not attached to walls) need to be removed. Depending on the quantity/size of furniture/fixtures that need to be removed, contractors will typically charge between $15 and $50 per hour. Customers can cut out this cost if they agree to have the items removed prior to the contractor arriving. However, if it is agreed upon and the items are not removed, the contractor will usually charge 150% of the normal rate, because this will add additional time to the job, causing him to possibly run behind schedule for another job, and he schedules jobs based on time estimates. The next part is the removal and disposal of the existing floor. The price for this can range from $25 to $75 per hour, based on the type of flooring being removed. Carpet and vinyl are easy to remove, thus would be on the low end. Tile is more difficult because mortar is used to install it and all of that has to be broken up and removed. Again, the customer can save during this phase if they do the removal themselves, with the same penalty if not removed prior to the contractor arrival. The final part of this phase is repairing the subfloor. Costs for this repair vary greatly on what needs to be repaired, and are usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Falls and physical restraint use are a common practice in the care of the elderly and many efforts have been made to decrease this practice. Falls and injuries associated with restraint usage are a major issue because of their adverse outcome on mortality and morbidity. Prevention of falls and injuries is the most common reason for mechanically or physically restraining the elderly in healthcare facilities (Arbesman Wright, 1999). Its use has, conversely, been examined both from an ethical perspective, since restraints can be observed as coercive and furthermore because of the absence of proof of their effectiveness in preventing falls, as well as the adverse effects associated with their use (Capezuti et al., 1989). The main purposes of this integrative review were to investigate differences in the use of physical restraints over time, to identify risk factors for falls among people 60 and older, to evaluate the effects of a restraint program on staff awareness, work environment and practice of physical/mechanical restraints and the quality of care. A mechanical restraint is a device used to inhibit free physical movement which includes limb restraints, mitts, wristlets, anklets, jackets and wheelchair restraints (Powell et al., 1989). The first scenario would target the Fashionistas, the Shoppers/Planners and the Situationalists. This would create a broader marketing base, but miss the primary group that advertisers are seeking. Based on this scenario, the viewership could increase over time from 1.0% to 1.2%, while the average CPM would decrease from $2.00 to$1.80 (see Exhibit 4). Overall, this scenario would generate an increase in advertising revenue of 8% from 2006 revenues to $249 million. Scenario #2 narrows the focus on the Fashionistas, preferred by advertisers. In this scenario, the average viewership rating would drop from 1.0% to .8% due to the narrow focus, but the CPM would increase dramatically from $2.00 to $3.50 resulting in an increase of 40% in advertising revenue or roughly $92 million (see Exhibit 4).
