Critical Concepts Of Middle Adulthood
There are many emotions that coincide with middle adulthood. Three of the most critical
concepts of middle adulthood are midlife crisis, empty nest syndrome, and sandwich generation.
Each concept and stage are apparent in many people around the age 42 45 and can last from 2 5
years. However, these ages can fluctuate for various environmental reasons and circumstances.
Also, this can have gender and culture variations that can affect the age and longevity. A midlife
crisis is the event that happens in a person 40 s where an emotional crisis occurs that involves
identity, confidence, and depression. Midlife crisis typically occurs because of external factors,

The sandwich generation is when an adult is not only taking care of their own children, but also
their parents. In many cultures such as Asian tradition taking care of your parents is required and a
mark of adulthood. The generation is typically between the ages of 30 and 55. This number is so
widely raged because many environmental circumstance depend upon it. People in this stage may
become stressed, depressed, and have a loss of identity. Also, people in this generation have to be
very patient and empathetic towards others to withstand the difficulties and responsibilities of being
in a sandwich generation situation. As life expectancy is increasing this is much more common. It
is very common in developing countries because families are financially dependent on each other
and may even live in the same household. Sandwich generations are becoming more common

Mystic Monk Coffee Essay
1.Has Father Daniel Mary established a future direction for the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming?
What is his vision for the monastery? What is his vision for Mystic Monk Coffee? What is the
mission of the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming?
Yes father Daniel has established the future of the Carmelite monks of Wyoming. He specified the
sense of the directions and revelation for the goal.
His biggest vision included expanding the monastery by acquiring the Irma lake ranch listed price
of $8.9 million. This would enable a retreat center, a gothic church, and a convert for Carmelite
nuns, transform the mall brotherhood of 13 monks to 30.
He believed that Mystic Monk coffee could fund the purchase of the new land. The vision of it as

The business is able to increase if the bought a new larger roaster. Keeping in mind that the
Mystic Monk Coffee retail prices is between the range if we compare it to the other brands, which
will make it possible to the brand to compete on the market. And the profit will increase once they
start to produce more.
6.What recommendations would you make to Father Daniel Mary in terms of crafting
And executing strategy for the monastery s coffee operations? Are changed needed
In its long term direction? Its objectives? Its strategy? Its approach to strategy execution? Explain.
The executing strategy of the Father Daniel in not 100% perfect but since it s based on a
religious matter we can t take it as a full business company. The coffee operations could be
increased if they put more people to the producing line of the coffee. In the long term direction a
better way to make more people and more customers know about the product is by focusing more
on the advertisement ways to reach maximum people like TV and radio and enhancements in the

Athletes Should Not Be Allowed In College
If you were an athlete going to play professional sports, academics wouldn t be as foremost as
hitting the weights. A college is an academic place for higher learning and it should not be a
prerequisite place to play professional sports. However, if an athlete is to be severely injured, the
injury may ruin their opportunity to play and make a career in sports. Then all they will have left
will be their education. While some athletes are attending college, they only care about playing the
sport.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Football League (NFL) require at
least one to three years of college before qualifying and entering the draft. The NBA has a policy

If athletes are to injure themselves and cannot play anymore, the only thing that is left for the
athlete will be their education. Education is essential because if the athlete is unable to play
sports anymore, they might not get offered a good paying job. According to Monte Burke, On
average the average salary of an NBA player is 5.15 million dollars and the NFL player is 1.9

Reconstruction By Eric Foner Analysis
Within the preface of Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction, Foner details the distinct
characteristics of the ever changing era of Reconstruction, taking place after the Civil War. The
always changing definitions of history have transformed the process of understanding this time
period (Foner, xi). Because of this, the Preface, written by Foner in 1990, illustrates the drastically
different viewpoints of the schools of thought found during the Reconstruction period. The Preface
is divided into four different sections; each section giving the reader a better understanding of the
different interpretations. These four sections are: The Dunning School during the 1900 s, the
Progressive School in the 1920 s and 1930 s, the Revisionists... Show more content on

As the wave of new politics and social attitudes, the Revisionists crippled all standing
interpretations, leading to a drastically different account of the Reconstruction. Depicting the
Reconstruction as a time for incredible social and political growth for African Americans,
Revisionists strayed from the original negative connotations of Reconstruction. Within the new
revised Reconstruction, Johnson was no longer the courageous protector of the civil liberties of his
people, but rather a racist who failed to react to the predicaments at hand while in Presidency and
Radicals were no longer money hungry capitalists of the North, but rather individuals dedicated to
advocacy for African Americans (Foner, xiii). Although using the Civil Rights Movement as the
backbone for the Revisionist era proved itself effective, there were still a group of individuals, Post
Revisionists, who continued to view the changes during Reconstruction as a bland and inadequate

Harry Potter Religion
When Harry Potter was gaining attention from all over the globe, a select amount of Catholics
saw Harry Potter as the Devil. Father Gabriele Amorth of the Archdiocese of Rome, who is also a
top exorcist, believes that all magic leads to the devil. The Catholic Church has no official stance on
the series, but many other respected priests have stated that they think the Harry Potterbooks are a
perfect example of right and wrong and they see Catholic figures in the characters. Also, J.K.
Rowling explains why Harry Potter should be seen as a book for everyone. Father Gabriele
Amorth also stated that reading the Harry Potter series will lead young children to think about
joining a cult that teaches magic. To think that children will join magic teaching cults after
reading Harry Potter is crazy. Around the time of the release of the fourth book, Russ Breimeier,
a writer for Christianity today wrote an article on how Christians are starting to realize the good
in Harry Potter. Some of the people he talked to said they realized that Harry Potter has more life
lessons that are connected to Christian beliefs rather than lessons about witchcraft. Russ said that

demons to help us do bad deeds. Invocational magic is harmonizing with the will of our creator.
That is the kind of magic used in Harry Potter and Narnia. J.K. Rowling also never mentions the

James Baldwin s Harlem Riots Essay
Collecting the Harlem Riots
?It would have been better to have left the plate glass as it had been and the goods lying in the
stores. It would have been better, but it would have also have been intolerable, for Harlem needed
something to smash?
This quote by James Baldwin pertains to his relevant thoughts on the Harlem Riots of 1943. A copy
of Newsweek from August 9,1943 described the riot in great detail, ?Within a half hour Harlem?s
hoodlums were on the march. Windows of pawnshops and liquor and grocery stores were smashed
and looted. The Negroes began wielding knives and the police their guns? Thousands of police

curfew delivered by Mayor LaGuardia. The Mayor also halted vehicle traffic except for service
vehicles until everything had calmed down about two days after the riots. Stores closed either due
to damage or due to fear of repetition of damage, and they did not reopen until about two days
after as well. The Mayor also enacted prohibition throughout Harlem during and immediately
following the riots (NY Times 8). La Guardia also brought emergency food supplies to relieve
burned out shops and houses, which gained him popularity among the black population. The
amount of damage the riots entailed not only affected the people and city of Harlem, but the race
relations all over the country.
The Harlem Riots had a definitive start, but the build up to rioting varied among the sources used.
According to an article in the NY Times on August 5, 1943, ?The City Council who charged on
Tuesday that Harlem had been starved of park and playground facilities? The City Council denied
the charge that inadequate policing was responsible for the disorder.? This article stated that
Harlem lacked the parks and recreation needs of its people and therefore caused the riot, along with
the fact that police did not handle the situation correctly. Another article in the NY Times quoted

Benefits Of Critical Race Theory
Furthermore, the critical race theory approach draws attention to African Americans seeking to
break historical norms to create a new respect for their race. For example, Natchez, who claims
himself to be James Fulton s nephew confines in Lila Mae about his desire to obtain his uncle s
black box, which will not only benefit his family but the African American raceas a whole. Natchez
said, They always take away from our people. I don t know if they know he was colored... When I
hear them talk about his invention, they always saying it s the future. It s the future of the cities.
But it s our future, not theirs. It s ours. And we need to take it back (Whitehead, 140). This quote
strengthens the argument of critical race theory because as previously

many other black Americans. Nonetheless, both categories can be marked as systematic obstacles.

The school districts with the highest minority enrollments receive an average of $877 less per
student than school districts with the lowest number of minorities enrolled. In turn, these children
are able to go further with more resources readily available to them. However, children in less
affluent school districts face serious educational shortcomings due to little investment in the
beggared communities surrounding the school. It is more accurate to say that America has two
systems of public education. The first system, based principally, but not entirely in the suburbs of
America and in wealthier urban districts, is in many respects mediocre, specifically in comparison
to international peers in advanced industrial nations. However, the second system, based principally
in poorer urban and rural areas, is an absolute failure; in which an exceeding number of students

diplomas that do not certify academic confidence in basic subjects. An outstanding number of
students are unprepared for the world of employment. An incredible number of students are
unprepared to matriculate to institutions of higher education or advanced training.
These systemic obstacles that create circumstances that hinder the education attainment of the poor
can be changed, their limits lessened, by positive actions to elevate living conditions given the

Reflection About Grit
I am inspired by the idea of grit that was introduced by an American academic psychologist and
popular science author, Angela Lee Duckworth. Angela s research has evolved around discovering
why some individuals accomplish more than other individuals despite having the same talent,
intelligence, and resources. She went to graduate school to become psychologist, and that was
when she discovered that one characteristic that emerged as a significant predictor of success is grit.
According to Angela, Grit is not talent. Grit is not luck. Grit is not how intensely, for the moment,
you want something. Instead, it is about having a goal you care about so much that it organizes
and gives meaning to almost everything you do. And grit is holding steadfast to that goal. Even
when you fall down. Even when you screw up. Even when progress toward that goal is halting or
slow.
Thinking about Angela Duckworth s focus on the need for grit to succeed and achieve our goals,
I come to a question of whether mindfulness can possibly play a role in developing grit. As a
student, I have a quite hectic schedule. I am taking 16 credits, working 12 hours on weekdays, and
I oftentimes have rehearsals at least three times a week, depending on how many gigs I have on the
weekend.
I keep feeling overwhelmed and this gives me a hard time focusing in class. Last week I fell
asleep during my Sequencing Production Technique class. It was a 2 hour class and I was asleep
for the first hour. As a result, I missed most of the materials so I had to personally ask my
classmates about what they discussed in the class.
One of the factors that makes me feel fatigued is because my mind is on high alert all of the time.
According to Canadian biochemist Hans Selye of McGill University in Montreal, our body releases
cortisol in response to fear or stress by the adrenal glands. Cortisol is a stress hormone which
increases blood sugar levels to give energy, and constant stress means that you could quickly be
running on empty. Overly released cortisol can be baneful to the body and mind. It can mess with
the ability to sleep, which can contribute to feelings of fatigue.
My goal is to be mentally and physically fit so I would be able to focus in class, not

European Colonisers, Impacted On Maori Social Organisation
In this essay, I will argue European colonisers, impacted on Maori social organisation. Through
the adaption of social controls by using social power to acquire ingenious land. Altering on the

New Zealand. Prior to contact with Europeans Maori lived communally in a tribal society where
authority was ranked and centralised by a hereditary chief; in which responsibilities were passed
down through the tribe. Roles were based on your social position and resources were shared to
create an affluent society. However, in response to foreign influences, the organisation changed as
Maori adopted European ideologies, meanings and knowledge. Social relations reformed as
societies grew in scale leading to greater competition for resources. Europeans used social power to
dominate land ownership by the end of the 19th Century. Creating a stratified society, shifting the

Fanny s room is just an attic and when she first gets there the room is only used for storage and

Athletes College Athletes
Should collegiate athletes get paid? Statistics show that an average college athlete spends 20 hours
per week on their sport (University of Notre Dame). All the time dedicated to their sport takes away
time to complete homework, eat, work, and rest. College athletes should receive compensation for
the amount of time dedicated to their sport, for the amount of revenue brought into the universityor
college, to be able to better support themselves and their family and benefit from the profit made by
apparel company contracts with the university or college.
Playing a sport in college, especially at Division 1 schools are very time consuming between
practicing and playing games. The National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) allows 20
hours of practice a week for athletes, but practices often last longer ( How do College Athletes... ).
Collegiate athletes often do not have enough time to set aside for their classes. Many of these
athletes are spending more time playing their sport than managing their schoolwork. If the athletes
do not show up to every practice, then they tend to feel uncommitted and disincluded. According to
an NCAA survey on college athletes, the most demanding sports are Division 1 and Division 2
baseball. Division 1 basketball and football are very demanding as well (O Shaughnessy). All
athletes have to make sure they establish their priorities for their sport and academics. College
athletes should finish their most difficult tasks first, then they can

A Literature Review of the Popular Opinion on Abortion
Literature Review Popular Opinion on Abortion
Abortion has long been a source of acrimonious and controversial debate. It touches upon key
ethical, moral, philosophical, biological, and legal issues. Opinions about abortion tend to be
rooted in fundamental personal values which are unlikely to change. Many people, especially
Christians, regard abortion as murder. Such people oppose abortion in varying degrees, calling
their position Pro Life. Others regard abortion as an excruciating yet critical decision that woman
should be allowed to make.
The debate over abortion has been a persistent source of political and cultural division in this
country. Most Americans have an opinion on abortion and believe the issue is important to them.
Also, opinions on abortion, in a very general sense, are believed to have stayed relatively stable
since the Roe v. Wadedecision.
Political Party Affiliation
Jelen and Wilcox (2003) find that abortion attitudes are increasingly strong predictors of vote
choice at a variety of levels of government. (494). Research has been virtually unanimous in tracing
this trend to the influence of political elites on mass public opinion.
Wilcox and Norrander trace this trend to the Supreme Court s decision in Webster, which granted
state governments increased discretion in their ability to regulate the delivery of abortion services
(Wilcox and Norrander, 2002, 383). The public became increasingly supportive of legalized
abortion with certain

Students are using laptops, tablets, and smartphones to research, complete, and even collaborate on

In Thomas Friedman s article, Come the Revolution, Friedman is confident that an online only
education program called Coursera is the solution to the problems of rising tuition and the
increased importance of education in a knowledge economy. The rhetorical strategies used by
Friedman were much more effective in comparison to Snyder s, especially his use of valid
numbers, statistics, and facts to support his claims. One example of this is in the second paragraph
of Friedman s Come the Revolution. After introducing Andrew Ng, professor and cofounder of
Coursera, and explaining the online platform s benefits, Friedman quotes Ng to support his
argument. He writes, I normally teach 400 students, Ng explained, but last semester he taught
100,000 in an online course on machine learning. To reach that many students before, he said, I
would have had to teach my normal Stanford class for 250 years. Friedman uses the valid numbers,
statistics, and facts from reliable authorities to support his argument.
Another rhetorical strategy that was very effective for Friedman but was ineffective in Snyder s
argument is tone. Choosing words and examples carefully for tone is important when attempting to
persuade because tone indicates the writer s attitude towards his subject or audience. In Timothy
Snyder s, Why Laptops in Class Are Distracting America s

I Am A Sophomore Pursuing Management Engineering
I am currently a sophomore pursuing Management Engineering with a concentration in
Mechanical Engineering. I have spent majority of my life in Mumbai, India. Living in Mumbai
taught me that life is not fair and you need to be one step above the others to succeed. Mumbai is

wants to leave an impact on the world, hence it s called the city of dreams in India. I grew up in

family is a leader in their own way. My dad runs a Dubai based shipping company in India, my
uncle runs a pharmacy company and my mom takes care of the house and office files. Since the

find our inner leader and enhance those qualities to try to survive in the real world. The
disadvantage of living in India is that the education system is not built in a way to find your
inner leader, it s all about textbook learning and writing exams. There is no hands on experience

The Illegal Drug Business
The Drug Business Paper
Introduction
The smuggling of drugs has been a part of the society for over a century in most parts of the
world. This form of business has flourished mostly in the developed countries such as the United
States of America, where the demand for drugs is high while there is no or very small production in
the country. The production in the countries where drugs such as cocaine, heroin, cannabis, etc are
supplied is banned mostly under the respective local laws, and therefore the drug trafficking
business is used to bring in the supply in these countries as these markets have the potential of
earning the drug business cartels huge amounts of money.
The history of the illegal drug business in the United States
The illegal trade of drugs across borders has primarily grown because of the increased prohibitions
of drug trading in many countries by their governments and the mass amount of money that is
involved to be profited from in its trade. The government of the United States of America has taken
several steps in its history in order to restrict or end drug trafficking in the country. Socially, the
American culture has been vastly affected by the introduction of drugs in the system. The stance of
the governments that have run the country has been totally against drugs in the last century as the
government aims to get rid of the bad social and environmental effects of these drugs.
As industrialization progressed and new trade routes were being

Who Is Willy Loman s Blind Faith In Death Of A Salesman
Why racism pretends to be an issue when it s not? In Death of a Salesman by Arthur miller,
Willy Loman s blind faith in his stunted version of the American Dream leads to his rapid
psychological debility when he is unable to accept the disparity between the Dream and his own
life. Miller explains that Lorman killed himself to provide a better a life for his family cause of
his mistakes chasing the unknown dream. He also mentions how he refused to accept failure and
demanded the appearance of utmost confidence in his household. First I m going to talk about why
the play of Death of a Salesmanis universal, and second about why I think every culture can relate
to the story.
The play is universal and non racial. According to John Lahr s review Hard Sell , the play of death
of a Salesman has been a failure for black actors. He believes during 1949 that staging all white
production of a play is a senseless idea for a black during that time. He explains that ... Show more

Age Related Design
Everyday more baby boomers are qualified to collect social security; some may think it is the
core of elderly livelihood today but this in a misconception. According to The United States
Social Security Administration, social security benefits only account for about 38% of income
for the elderly. Often times a social security check can make a significant impact for bare
necessity bills, which leaves a lot of money left for older consumers to spend. This paper will
examine what universal and age related design are, the advantages and disadvantages, and a
universally designed product that can be marketed to an age related market, such as older

This targets and accommodates a specific age and an emerging group with plenty of disposable
income, the baby boomers. More and more baby boomers are joining the elderly population by
retiring and collecting social security, and by mid 21st century 27% will be 60 and older.
Retirees do not just sit on their money, they spend are consumers! We will see in increase of
consumerism simply from a numerical standpoint since there are so many of them. Age related
design works if there is an adequate market for it, so pretty much the larger the market, the larger
chance of making money. Therefore the baby boomers would be the superlative target for age
related design. However, age related design demands attention to detail and requires understanding
the individual needs of the targeted consumers. A foundation that would help would be empathetic
modeling. This method places the designer in the shoes of the consumer, allowing him or her to
understand the feelings, aspirations and fears of said target. Thoroughly examining the individual
s needs, will lead to superior real world performance. Another vital aspect of designing for the
older population is to know the demographic. Knowing the consumer s status, such as if they are
independent, dependent, wealthy or healthy helps in deciding quality, functionality and price of
the product. However, an area to avoid would be labeling products as for the elderly because your
targeted group may not see themselves as elderly or

The Treatment Of Psychiatric Drugs
The Use of Psychiatric Drugs To Treat Children
Statistics determine that seventeen million children in the world have been prescribed
psychiatric medications for mental illnesses or disorders ( Facts and Statistics ). In a society
where one in four people suffer from a mental illness, it s disturbing to find that many of these
people are children. Many of these children will never have the opportunity to live normally
without being under the influence of a drug. After taking a position as a lead teacher for a two year
old classroom, it s disheartening to hear that children as young as eighteen months old are being
prescribed psychiatric medication. One can imagine how severe the physical, mental, emotional,

These drugs are generally prescribed when a person is diagnosed with a mental illness such as
Schizophrenia, Depression, or Attention Deficit Disorder. The sudden rise in number of mental
illness diagnoses has led to a rapid increase in the number of prescriptions recommended to patients.
Sadly, many of these patients are children who are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder,
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Depression. According to Erica Goode, studies
indicate that pediatricians and child psychiatrists , are frequently leaning towards the use of
psychotropic medication as the treatment of choice for an assortment of mental illnesses and
disorders (Goode, Study Finds Jump in Children Taking Psychiatric Drugs ). This acknowledgement
solidifies the unsettling norm of children taking prescription drugs daily in an effort to mask their
behaviors. Instead of using numerous methods of teaching and parenting to counteract unpleasant
or hyperactive behavior, professionals have now employed a different approach by using
medicalization to treat emotional and behavioral problems (Mcleod et. al, 54). The problem with
this approach is that the behavior is never actually addressed. Instead it s medicated causing
children to become zombies or robots rather than living, breathing, human beings, with genuine
thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
In addition to the strange increase in the use of psychiatric drugs to treat children, there are also
several side

How Gender Roles Are Predetermined by the Environment
How gender roles are predetermined by the environment
What is male? What is female? The answers to these questions everyone may depend on the
types of gender roles they were exposed to as a child. Gender roles can be defined as the behaviours

Basically to make it clear the pattern of masculine or feminine behaviours of an individual that is

Hard To Pay For College Essay
Nowadays it s hard to get a degree and even harder to pay for. In the article How to Pay for
College , it says that with hard work students can earn scholarships, apply for financial aid,
finance loans, and take on a part time job to pay for college. However, there is plenty of evidence
proving otherwise. Due to the rising costs of tuition and the restrictions to getting financial aid, it is
almost impossible for lower and middle class citizens to afford college. Loans leave students in debt
and scholarships are not always a sure thing. With a part time job, putting in too many hours of
work can interfere with ones sleep and actual study time. Recently a study was done on the
average college students ability to pay for college with a part time job. Randy Olsen, a computer
science graduate research assisstant at Michigan State University, crunched the numbers for both
Michigan State and all public universities in the U.S. The average tuition cost at an in state
public university is $8,709 not including room and board, books and supplies, personal care, and
transportaton fees. Research shows that the amount of hours needed to work to pay for college
tuition with a part time minimum wage job has more than tripled since the year 1979. It is now a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Diazonuim Salts
Introduction:
Diazonuim salts are unsaturated compounds which have a trible bond.
There was a scientist his name was Griess, this scientist gave Diazo name to diazonuim salts as he
thought that two hydrogen atoms in the benzene ring will be replaced by two atoms of nitrogen.
Diazonuim salts divided into two types of salts:
Aromatic diazonuim salts and alephatic ( non aromatic) diazonuim salts.
Non aromatic salts are less important than aromatic.
Under normal conditions, diazonuim salt is highly unstable.
Dizonuim salts have some properites such as shock sensitive, decompose violenthly when heating

Analysis Of The Film Waiting For Godot
Have you ever flipped an hourglass and watched the sand fall slowly to the other side? Think
about your life. From the moment you take your first breath, that hourglass is flipped and your life
has begun. The sand within the hourglass represents the amount of time one has on this Earth.
Though time is eternal, our time is limited, so we must make meaning of that time. There is an
unknown outside force in charge of each of our hourglasses, so do the decisions we make in life
even matter, or are we involved in a game of probability and chance? Through the characterization
and setting of the film, Waiting for Godot, it is evident that chance and probability is a major factor
that dictates human existence.
No one chooses a life of misery and wretchedness, but somehow there are plenty of people who
are starving, homeless, or even disheartened. Can we say these people were just dealt a bad hand?
The characters Vladimir and Estragon most definitely have been dealt a bad hand. Based on their
outward appearance it is apparent that they are suffering. From their dark gloomy aged attire to
their untamed wild hair, their appearance is similar to that of a homeless person; wandering
aimlessly without purpose. Aside from that they are starving. The only food they have is the carrot

The three important things we need to know about American Indians prior to European invasion are

Aztec is civilization created by the ancient Indian, which was mainly distributed in central and
southern Mexico. Aztecs were a tribe with a lower level of development at first, but they absorb and

Who Is Pierre Auguste Renoir La Promenade
Although La Promenade was not the title given to this painting by Renoir, this painting is partially
a tribute to previous artists whom Renoir tremendously esteemed. Pierre Auguste Renoir was born
on February 25, 1841 in France. Renoir lived during the Impressionist movement, which was a
French art movement from the 1850 s till around 1900. He studied under a man named Charles
Gleyre, who also taught skillful painters such as Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and FrГ©dГ©ric
Bazille. Monet, Sisley, and Bazille would later become some of Renoir s closest friends.
Dissimilar to Monet and Sisley, Renoir always retained a fondness for the studio and for creating
classic portraitures in the manner of the French masters he truly respected, who lived... Show more

However, the man only has little pieces of sunlight streaming down on him. Dissimilar to the
man, however, the path is well lit and illuminated by sunlight. This leads our attention to the path
that the man enjoins the woman to follow. This playful contrast between well illuminated
subjects, and poorly lit subjects is enhanced further by the shade covering the man s face, and
the almost cartoonish depiction of his face. Renoir acknowledged no rules, and did not set limits
on his capability to extemporize. Renoir s work was a paradox. While he painted scenes that
were not generally painted by fine artists such as himself, he employed oil painting, which was
associated with the world of fine art. From the statements about Renoir that did survive about his
personal practices and conduct, it is sufficiently shown that he resolvedly rejected the idea of
yielding to common social standards. The span of different various social and artistic viewpoints
that Renoir embraced affirms his rejection to be stereotyped. Unfortunately, Pierre Auguste Renoir
died on December 3, 1919. He lived to see the post impressionism era, fauvism and expressionism,
cubism, and more. Even when

Leadership Qualities Of A Strong Storm
Dark and ominous clouds linger afar, signaling the approach of a strong storm. We need to hurry.
Andrew, scout out a spot to assemble the tent.
Derek, grab the green tent bag out of the trailer. Brian, go with and help. Hurry! We need to finish
before the first drop if we don t want to get wet!
The rest of us will haul up the cooking gear and cook supper over a fire.
Understanding the situation, the Troop sets into action without any defiance. Every summer, my
troop and I camp in the middle of the woods at Many Point Scout Camp. During the weeklong trip,
I have been placed in positions that have given me the opportunities to display my knowledge of
leadership qualities, such as giving guidance to others to insure completion of a task, motivation,
making others feel important, and time management. Climbing the treacherous steps to the
campsite, Jacob and I lug the bulky patrol boxes loaded with kitchen supplies to the designated
kitchen area. Immediately, I analyze the situation. The clouds are darkening and rolling in fast. At
the very most, we only have a couple hours until it hits. Time is of the essence.
How is the tent coming along? I asked Andrew, Derek, and Brian. A few poles are troubling us, so
we are going to need some extra man power. Knowing the detailed instructions will be difficult for
the tent crew to understand, I carefully instruct the guys in the cooking area what to do until I
return. I walk with a mission up to the tent site and bring

The Literary Genre Of 2 Peter
The literary genre of 2 Peter is an epistle written to the main personalities, an implied group of
believers in Asia Minor and other places around that region. The author is the Apostle Peter a
dedicated servant and disciple of Jesus. The date that the letter was written has some
controversy, however, in his correspondence Peter mentions that his life is coming to an end, and
Peter was martyred for his faith in Rome about A.D. 64 67. Therefore, establishing the date of
Peter s second letter within that time frame. Peter wrote out of love to defend and protect the
immutable word of God. The letters main purpose was to warn fellow devotees about false
teachers that would try to enter their churches and mislead them in their faith. Peter goes on to
explain the false teachers can be recognized by their prideful behavior, their love of money, and
disrespect to God. (Life Application Study Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past,
such as Sodom and Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that will
come to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that will
mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ. He advises the believers to have confidence in
the promises, prophecies, and principles given through God s inspired word. (Hindson, Towns)
Peter cautions God will return without warning and find individuals unwary. However, Peter
reasons that God is patient and delays His return for unbelievers, not

Introduction
Wireless Networks can be broadly classified into three categories: Infrastructure based networks,
Wireless LANs and Ad Hoc Networks. Infrastructure based networks are traditional cellular systems
which requires base station infrastructure. Wireless LANs are very flexible within the reception
area. It requires low bandwidth when compared to wired networks. Ad Hoc networks is useful
when the infrastructure is not available, impractical or expensive to build.
In Cellular Wireless, spaces are divided into cells. Each cell consists of base station which is
responsible to communicate with the hosts in its cell. Hosts moves from one cell to cell to another
and hand off occurs, the new base station takes care of the communication. In Multi hop wireless,
mobility causes change of route. Hence it need to traverse multiple links to reach destination. Ad
hoc network is a self organizing multi hop wireless network which relies neither on infrastructure
nor on the predetermined connectivity.
Rapid deployment of independent mobile users will be the need of the next generation wireless
communication systems. A mobile ad hoc network is an autonomous collection of mobile users that
communicate over relatively bandwidth constrained wireless links. Network scenarios which
include establishing survivable, efficient, dynamic communication for emergency/rescue
operations, disaster relief efforts, and military networks cannot

Investigating The Effect Of Temperature On Enzyme Activity
INTRODUCTION
Aim:
To investigate how temperature affect enzyme activity.
Background information:
Enzymes are globular proteins (see figure 1) that can be found in all the living cells. They can be
used as biological catalysts by lowering the energy that the chemical reaction requires to occur.
Certain enzymes only catalyze certain biochemical reactions and this property is known as enzyme
substrate specificity. Living organisms can produce many different enzymes. In order to further
explain enzyme substrate specificity, a basic knowledge about active sites on enzymes is
required. An active site is where substrates can be bind to the enzymes and where the biochemical
reactions are catalyzed. Active sites can be found on all enzymes. They are on the surface of
enzymes and once the substrate fits into the active site successfully the biochemical reaction is
catalyzed. After the products are released from the active site, the enzyme can be used again. As
has been said above Certain enzymes only catalyze certain biochemical reactions . However, some
enzymes can catalyze more than one biochemical reaction. This happens when the substrate is
closed to the enzyme, and the enzyme changes the shape of the active site to fit the substrate.
Figure 1(the shape of enzymes)
Enzymes only work within certain temperature and pH ranges as they can be denatured at certain
temperatures and pHs. When the enzyme is denatured, the shape of the active site on the enzyme
will change. Once

sections for breeding places for many years. These breeding areas are called rookeries.
Emperor penguins will dive 150m under the ice to find drill and crustaceans. They will go down

The Black Nationalist Movement During The Harlem Renaissance
Black cultural nationalism was an international, less organized extension of the Black Nationalist
movement. The movement focused on the embracing of African culture and values through various
artistic forms, including poetry, drama, and music. Emphasizing the need to embrace one s
blackness, cultural nationalism was able to gain much mainstream attention because of the
prominence of many of its members.
The earliest organized display of cultural nationalism associated with Africa began with the
concept of NГ©gritude, which was developed by French speaking Negro intellectuals (Irele 321)
that had developed far beyond the concept of the African personality ...[and] tended more towards a

Film History
The History of film has been influenced by the discovery and testing of paradoxes intrinsic in the
medium itself. machines are used record images of anything; it combines still photographs to give

unrealities approached only in dreams.
The motion picture was unfolded in the 1890s from the union of still photography, which records
actual reality, with the persistence of vision toy, which made drawn frames appear to move. Four
major film traditions have advanced since then: fictional narrative film, which reveals stories about
people with whom an audience can recognize because their world looks familiar; nonfictional

in a pure and discreet abstract way. Others, such as Andre Bazin, say that film must fully and
carefully grow its connection with nature so that it can portray human events as compelling and

Can Kosovo ever be a strong enough country to stand on its own is a question that we have to
ask! Will they ever become a place that will be able to grow to a power nation? With their

enough resources to help them just to get started on a road back to be a country that the people

with all the other debt that we have? These are the question I have to ask you concerning this
country, the country of Kosovo! Kosovo was once part of Yugoslavia from the year 1918 until 1989.
In the year of 1989 was the fall of Yugoslavia. During that year, NATO stepped in to assist Kosovo
in declaring its independence from Serbia, a nation that have suppressed this country for many

As in, something made them unique and different from all the previous civilizations. The unique
factor of the Heian Period is that women were given more rights, which led them to be culturally
dominate and actively involved in the culture of the civilization. According to the book The Tale
of Genji , written by a female novelist of the Heian imperial court, women of the Heian Period
were provided with the basic education such as, art, poetry, music, and writing. There were also
laws that protected women from abuse of male partners.(Shikibu, 2014) Furthermore, women were
allowed to divorce and remarry which was not even available in many European countries.(Lurie,
2004) All of the following droits were much more than what the previous Japanese civilizations
offered for women. During this period, women were still limited to outside or political activities,
thus, allowing more time to create literature. Consequently, many novels, poems, and literature
from the Heian Period are from female authors. Notably, the Heian Period was also the peak of
Japanese literature. Giving women more rights significantly changed the behaviour of Heian women

What Are The 4 Laws Of Thermodynamics
The four fundamental laws of thermodynamics are used to define how physical quantities behave
under various circumstances, these include energy, entropy, and temperature. The First Law of
Thermodynamics states that energy in the universe is always conserved, therefore it cannot be
created or destroyed, and it can only be transformed from one form to another. The second law of
thermodynamicsstates that entropyof isolated systems always increases, this means that in all
processes of energyexchange, if no energy is introduced to or leaves a system, the sum of potential
energy will be less than initial condition. The third law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of
a system is maintained as the temperature decreases to absolute zero. The fourth law of
thermodynamics defines temperature equilibrium between systems.
The first law of thermodynamics defines that energy can be transformed but not destroyed. It s
used to define the internal energy contained in a system. It s formulated by pointing out the
change in internal energy in system minus work and heat that add and subtract energy in the
system. Moreover, the second law helps to clarify different ways in which motors change heat into
mechanical work, for example in steam turbines and car engines. The third law, also referred to as
Nernst law, provides a basis for calculating absolute entropy value of substances and an analysis of
phase and chemical equilibrium.
Fossil fuels are the most widely used energy source in

  • 6. Reconstruction By Eric Foner Analysis Within the preface of Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction, Foner details the distinct characteristics of the ever changing era of Reconstruction, taking place after the Civil War. The always changing definitions of history have transformed the process of understanding this time period (Foner, xi). Because of this, the Preface, written by Foner in 1990, illustrates the drastically different viewpoints of the schools of thought found during the Reconstruction period. The Preface is divided into four different sections; each section giving the reader a better understanding of the different interpretations. These four sections are: The Dunning School during the 1900 s, the Progressive School in the 1920 s and 1930 s, the Revisionists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Father Gabriele Amorth of the Archdiocese of Rome, who is also a top exorcist, believes that all magic leads to the devil. The Catholic Church has no official stance on the series, but many other respected priests have stated that they think the Harry Potterbooks are a perfect example of right and wrong and they see Catholic figures in the characters. Also, J.K. Rowling explains why Harry Potter should be seen as a book for everyone. Father Gabriele Amorth also stated that reading the Harry Potter series will lead young children to think about joining a cult that teaches magic. To think that children will join magic teaching cults after reading Harry Potter is crazy. Around the time of the release of the fourth book, Russ Breimeier, a writer for Christianity today wrote an article on how Christians are starting to realize the good in Harry Potter. It is more accurate to say that America has two systems of public education. The first system, based principally, but not entirely in the suburbs of America and in wealthier urban districts, is in many respects mediocre, specifically in comparison to international peers in advanced industrial nations. However, the second system, based principally in poorer urban and rural areas, is an absolute failure; in which an exceeding number of students dropout well before high school graduation. • 13. Reflection About Grit I am inspired by the idea of grit that was introduced by an American academic psychologist and popular science author, Angela Lee Duckworth. Angela s research has evolved around discovering why some individuals accomplish more than other individuals despite having the same talent, intelligence, and resources. She went to graduate school to become psychologist, and that was when she discovered that one characteristic that emerged as a significant predictor of success is grit. According to Angela, Grit is not talent. Grit is not luck. Grit is not how intensely, for the moment, you want something. Instead, it is about having a goal you care about so much that it organizes and gives meaning to almost everything you do. And grit is holding steadfast to that goal. Even when you fall down. Even when you screw up. Even when progress toward that goal is halting or slow. Thinking about Angela Duckworth s focus on the need for grit to succeed and achieve our goals, I come to a question of whether mindfulness can possibly play a role in developing grit. As a student, I have a quite hectic schedule. I am taking 16 credits, working 12 hours on weekdays, and I oftentimes have rehearsals at least three times a week, depending on how many gigs I have on the weekend. I keep feeling overwhelmed and this gives me a hard time focusing in class. Last week I fell asleep during my Sequencing Production Technique class. It was a 2 hour class and I was asleep for the first hour. As a result, I missed most of the materials so I had to personally ask my classmates about what they discussed in the class. One of the factors that makes me feel fatigued is because my mind is on high alert all of the time. According to Canadian biochemist Hans Selye of McGill University in Montreal, our body releases cortisol in response to fear or stress by the adrenal glands. Cortisol is a stress hormone which increases blood sugar levels to give energy, and constant stress means that you could quickly be running on empty. Overly released cortisol can be baneful to the body and mind. It can mess with the ability to sleep, which can contribute to feelings of fatigue. My goal is to be mentally and physically fit so I would be able to focus in class, not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It touches upon key ethical, moral, philosophical, biological, and legal issues. Opinions about abortion tend to be rooted in fundamental personal values which are unlikely to change. Many people, especially Christians, regard abortion as murder. Such people oppose abortion in varying degrees, calling their position Pro Life. Others regard abortion as an excruciating yet critical decision that woman should be allowed to make. The debate over abortion has been a persistent source of political and cultural division in this country. Most Americans have an opinion on abortion and believe the issue is important to them. Also, opinions on abortion, in a very general sense, are believed to have stayed relatively stable since the Roe v. Wadedecision. Political Party Affiliation Jelen and Wilcox (2003) find that abortion attitudes are increasingly strong predictors of vote choice at a variety of levels of government. (494). Research has been virtually unanimous in tracing this trend to the influence of political elites on mass public opinion. Wilcox and Norrander trace this trend to the Supreme Court s decision in Webster, which granted state governments increased discretion in their ability to regulate the delivery of abortion services (Wilcox and Norrander, 2002, 383). In Thomas Friedman s article, Come the Revolution, Friedman is confident that an online only education program called Coursera is the solution to the problems of rising tuition and the increased importance of education in a knowledge economy. The rhetorical strategies used by Friedman were much more effective in comparison to Snyder s, especially his use of valid numbers, statistics, and facts to support his claims. One example of this is in the second paragraph of Friedman s Come the Revolution. After introducing Andrew Ng, professor and cofounder of Coursera, and explaining the online platform s benefits, Friedman quotes Ng to support his argument. He writes, I normally teach 400 students, Ng explained, but last semester he taught 100,000 in an online course on machine learning. To reach that many students before, he said, I would have had to teach my normal Stanford class for 250 years. Friedman uses the valid numbers, statistics, and facts from reliable authorities to support his argument. Another rhetorical strategy that was very effective for Friedman but was ineffective in Snyder s argument is tone. Choosing words and examples carefully for tone is important when attempting to persuade because tone indicates the writer s attitude towards his subject or audience. Who Is Pierre Auguste Renoir La Promenade Although La Promenade was not the title given to this painting by Renoir, this painting is partially a tribute to previous artists whom Renoir tremendously esteemed. Pierre Auguste Renoir was born on February 25, 1841 in France. Renoir lived during the Impressionist movement, which was a French art movement from the 1850 s till around 1900. He studied under a man named Charles Gleyre, who also taught skillful painters such as Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and FrГ©dГ©ric Bazille. This playful contrast between well illuminated subjects, and poorly lit subjects is enhanced further by the shade covering the man s face, and the almost cartoonish depiction of his face. Renoir acknowledged no rules, and did not set limits on his capability to extemporize. Renoir s work was a paradox. While he painted scenes that were not generally painted by fine artists such as himself, he employed oil painting, which was associated with the world of fine art. From the statements about Renoir that did survive about his personal practices and conduct, it is sufficiently shown that he resolvedly rejected the idea of yielding to common social standards. The span of different various social and artistic viewpoints that Renoir embraced affirms his rejection to be stereotyped. Unfortunately, Pierre Auguste Renoir died on December 3, 1919. Peter goes on to explain the false teachers can be recognized by their prideful behavior, their love of money, and disrespect to God. (Life Application Study Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past, such as Sodom and Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that will come to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that will mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ. Literature Survey On Anonymous Routing Protocols Literature Survey on Anonymous Routing Protocols Introduction Wireless Networks can be broadly classified into three categories: Infrastructure based networks, Wireless LANs and Ad Hoc Networks. Infrastructure based networks are traditional cellular systems which requires base station infrastructure. Wireless LANs are very flexible within the reception area. It requires low bandwidth when compared to wired networks. Ad Hoc networks is useful when the infrastructure is not available, impractical or expensive to build. In Cellular Wireless, spaces are divided into cells. Each cell consists of base station which is responsible to communicate with the hosts in its cell. Hosts moves from one cell to cell to another and hand off occurs, the new base station takes care of the communication. In Multi hop wireless, mobility causes change of route. Hence it need to traverse multiple links to reach destination. Ad hoc network is a self organizing multi hop wireless network which relies neither on infrastructure nor on the predetermined connectivity. Rapid deployment of independent mobile users will be the need of the next generation wireless communication systems. A mobile ad hoc network is an autonomous collection of mobile users that communicate over relatively bandwidth constrained wireless links. • 50. Investigating The Effect Of Temperature On Enzyme Activity INTRODUCTION Aim: To investigate how temperature affect enzyme activity. Background information: Enzymes are globular proteins (see figure 1) that can be found in all the living cells. They can be used as biological catalysts by lowering the energy that the chemical reaction requires to occur. Certain enzymes only catalyze certain biochemical reactions and this property is known as enzyme substrate specificity. Living organisms can produce many different enzymes. In order to further explain enzyme substrate specificity, a basic knowledge about active sites on enzymes is required. An active site is where substrates can be bind to the enzymes and where the biochemical reactions are catalyzed. Active sites can be found on all enzymes. They are on the surface of enzymes and once the substrate fits into the active site successfully the biochemical reaction is catalyzed. After the products are released from the active site, the enzyme can be used again. As has been said above Certain enzymes only catalyze certain biochemical reactions . However, some enzymes can catalyze more than one biochemical reaction. This happens when the substrate is closed to the enzyme, and the enzyme changes the shape of the active site to fit the substrate. Figure 1(the shape of enzymes) Enzymes only work within certain temperature and pH ranges as they can be denatured at certain temperatures and pHs. When the enzyme is denatured, the shape of the active site on the enzyme will change. Once ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 58. What Are The 4 Laws Of Thermodynamics The four fundamental laws of thermodynamics are used to define how physical quantities behave under various circumstances, these include energy, entropy, and temperature. The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy in the universe is always conserved, therefore it cannot be created or destroyed, and it can only be transformed from one form to another. The second law of thermodynamicsstates that entropyof isolated systems always increases, this means that in all processes of energyexchange, if no energy is introduced to or leaves a system, the sum of potential energy will be less than initial condition. The third law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of a system is maintained as the temperature decreases to absolute zero. The fourth law of thermodynamics defines temperature equilibrium between systems. The first law of thermodynamics defines that energy can be transformed but not destroyed. It s used to define the internal energy contained in a system. It s formulated by pointing out the change in internal energy in system minus work and heat that add and subtract energy in the system. Moreover, the second law helps to clarify different ways in which motors change heat into mechanical work, for example in steam turbines and car engines. The third law, also referred to as Nernst law, provides a basis for calculating absolute entropy value of substances and an analysis of phase and chemical equilibrium.
