Anna Wong Research Paper
1928 and 1929 were important years for Los Angeles born Chinese actress Anna May Wong. News
reports about her Hollywood movies decreased, instead, according to an American gossip columnist
visiting Europe during Wong s tenure, she was acclaimed by nobility in several European newspapers
(Petersen, 2014). Severely limited by the noxious roles she was offered in Hollywood, which
misrepresented Asian women, Wong left the United States for Europe (Vechten, 2003). She then spent
two years in Germany, England and France, where she gained global attention and worldwide
stardom. This special period in Wong s life was also a sensitive period for Chinese immigrants and all

Alhambra Theatre last night by Anna May Wong of Hollywood in Song, the first picture she screened

1928) They thought that having Wong in the film was a chance for development and a chance to
enlarge the area by involving characters of Asian, when in that time, not so many Asians were in
Europe. Besides, Wong was truly a wise woman. She spoke fluent German in her first talkie, The

Today, they assure me, she speaks like a native. From the spluttering that goes on I feel certain this is
true (Shute, 1929). By doing everything herself, even the auditoriums, she finally bloomed her talents.

Summary Of Magic Johnson And Larry Bird
The National Basketball Association (NBA) has transformed over the many of years as an
organization and a brand, into a multibillion dollar business that draws thousands and thousands of
fans to each and every game. Many contributing factors have made the NBA what it is today, but the
main cause of this gain in interest is the ultimate rivalry between two remarkable players, Earvin
Magic Johnson and Larry the Legend Bird. The battling rivalry amongst these individuals is
comparable to the feud of Coca Cola and Pepsi, or, Star Wars and Star Trek. During the era of modern
television, and the still and ever present racial bigotry, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird helped redefine
the game of basketball and popularity of the NBA with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Yes, many could argue that former and following rivalries between individuals such as George Mikan
and Bob Cousy or Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett could be compared to the Magic Bird rivalry,
however timing for Magic and Bird couldn t been any more fitting.
During the 80 s, the period of which these individuals played, the NBA desperately needed a new
spark, and the NBA got just what it needed. Larry Bird s Celtics during the 1979 80 season made a
dramatic improvement from a 29 53 record the year before to 61 21 (Magic Johnson and). While Bird
is making an extraordinary turnaround for his Boston Celtics, Magic Johnson, during his rookie
season, won a NBA championship for the Los Angeles Lakers. This was the Los Angeles Lakers
seventh NBA championship victory. Their success helped the NBA, but their identities off the court
supersedes the game of basketball. The years previous to the Magic Bird rivalry were ever changing.
The NBA changed from a fundamental, half court game with all white players, to a quick pace,
athletically acrobatic game with mainly black players. Few old school former white people, such as
Jerry West and Pete Maravich, could participate and compete in this new form of basketball. This
different style of basketball significantly swayed many viewers, white fans, from attending the NBA
games. White fans felt that the game was very egocentric and didn t involve all the players. Also, the
white fans didn t

Overview of 3GPP Lont Term Evolution
An Introduction of Overview of 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) Long Term Evolution (LTE) is 4G
wireless communications standard radio platform technologies that allow operators to achieve higher
peak throughputs than HSPA+ in higher spectrum bandwidth. LTE was developed by the 3rd
Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), and this began in 2004, with an official LTE work item started
in 2006 and a completed 3GPP Release 8 specification in March 2009. Initial deployments of LTE
began in late 2009, and it is part of the GSM evolutionary path for mobile broadband, following
EDGE, UMTS, HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA combined) and HSPA Evolution (HSPA+). Although
HSPA and its evolution are strongly positioned to be the dominant mobile data technology for the next
decade, the 3GPP family of standards must evolve toward the future. HSPA+ will provide the stepping
stone to LTE for many operators. The overall objective for LTE is to provide an extremely high
performance radio access technology that offers full vehicular speed mobility and that can readily
coexist with HSPA and earlier networks. Because of scalable bandwidth, operators will be able to
easily migrate from their networks and users from HSPA to LTE over time. LTE assumes a full
Internet Protocol (IP) network architecture and is designed to support voice in the packet domain. It
incorporates top of the line radio techniques to achieve performance levels beyond what will be
practical with CDMA approaches, particularly in larger

The Budget Process
INTRODUCTION
Budgeting involves decision making regarding revenue and services for both public and nonprofit
organizations. Furthermore, budgeting provides the infrastructure and financial means for our public
systems and services. Primarily, the goal of budgeting is to achieve a balance between revenue and
expenditures. Governmental allocation and appropriation of funds are a utilized as a political device to
uphold the public interest. Appropriations permit policy proposals to manifest from aspirations into
accomplishments. Budgeting is the financial consideration that provides resources to the policy
promoted throughout all levels of government. Thus, budgeting promotes the values of the executive
branch that matriculates to the federal, state and local levels of government. Tedious is the budget
process and each stage must be completed meticulously prior to the advancement of each phase so that
the budget is successfully implemented.

Double Indemnity Movie Essay
Film Genre Essay
Double Indemnity Double Indemnity directed by Billy Wilder conforms to the Noir style. Double
Indemnity is widely believed to be one of the original Noir style films that used and started many of
the Noir clichƩs that we know today. It is part of the Noir style because of the techniques and stylistics
utilized in the film that are typical to that of most Noir films. These stylistics are explained by Paul
Schrader, in Notes on Film Noir (1972), he writes about the stylistics that must occur when
considering films of the Noir style. These stylistics are used to create a formula for all Noir films, and
out of the seven stylistics about characterisation, lighting and structure only one does not feature in
Double Indemnity . Also, characters in Double Indemnity are typical of Noir films that being the hard

This is where compositional tension is used instead of physical action. According to Schrader, a
typical noir would rather move the scene around cinematographically around the actor rather than
have the actor control the scene by physical action . Thomas Leitch writes, creates unbalanced visual
compositions marked by dazzling, bleached out whites amid pools of deep shadow that often conceal
important onscreen spaces or expressions on characters faces . This means that compositional tension
is used to draw the viewer in an attempt to surprise them and to add emotion and response. When
Phyliss shoots Walter he is surrounded by darkness this is to show compositional tension. The tension
helps the film stick to the Noir style because there is a deep sense of mistake near the end of the film.
Physical action is often overused in film and that s why it is a pleasant change in this film because it
gives you a different viewing. The tension helps with the suspense to keep the viewer on the edge of

Assessment And Treatment Of Combat Related Posttraumatic...
Assessment and Treatment of Combat Related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder The number of veterans
returning from the Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), and
Operation New Dawn (OND) conflicts that are afflicted with posttraumatic stress disorder is estimated
to be in the hundreds of thousands (Kip, et al., 2013, p. 1298), demonstrating the importance of the
social worker to be knowledgeable of the symptoms and treatment of this disabling trauma. The
purpose of this literature review is to address the issue of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD),
address the symptoms linked to PTSD, and the methods used in the assessment of posttraumatic stress
disorder with emphasis on military combat related PTSD. In addition, the literature review will
identify the interventions by social work, if any, when addressing PTSD and the role social workers
may play when assisting those with combat related posttraumatic stress disorder.
Assessment
Posttraumatic stress disorder is caused by exposure to a traumatic stressor or bearing witness to such
an event (Peterson, Luethcke, Borah, Borah, Young McCaughan, 2011, p. 166). Patients cannot
develop PTSD without this exposure. Risk factors for a client s development of combat related PTSD
can be divided into three main categories: the trauma s type and severity, the individual s factors, such
as age, socioeconomic status, and psychiatric and previous history, and external environmental factors

Achieving Inclusion In Education
Inclusion is the provision of strategies and resources to ensure all children are given the opportunity to
reach their full potential irrespective of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation or
disability (Dean, 2006; Department for Education (DfE), 2013). To attain inclusion, individuals must
be enabled to fully participate in mainstream activities and to be valued and accepted within the
school community (Coyle, 2011). However, Barnard, Prior, and Potter (2000) acknowledge that the
process of inclusive education can prove challenging (Coyle, 2011; Simpson and De Boer, 2009;
Humphrey, 2008).
Under the 1944 Education Act, children with special educational needs were arranged according to
their medical condition (House of Commons, 2006). Many children were considered to be uneducable
in mainstream settings and were considered to be mentally retarded , maladjusted or sub normal
(House of Commons, 2006). Pupils with SEN were often sent to special schools and taught practical
skills as an alternative to standard education (Bateman, Lloyd and Tankersley, 2015). The Warnock
Report in 1978, followed by the 1981 Education Act, introduced the idea of special educational needs
(SEN), statements, and an inclusive approach to education (House of Commons, 2006). ... Show more

into the countries that surrounded Iran and saw them as potential bullies towards Iran and, in turn, the

more on how the Shah was positively affected his people (e.g. improved standard of living, increased

Among the colonies occupied by English settlers was the Chesapeake colony of Virginia. Virginia was

Virginia hoping to achieve prosperity by finding gold and to dwell in a society intended to be a
pleasant, profitable, and diversified settlement. Instead they found that the only sure means of making
profit was through tobacco the crop that would eventually make life in Virginia rather unpleasant and

My life changed so much for the better after that night. In a life full of bad decisions, it only took one
good decision to turn it all around. It s kind of funny to think about looking back on it all. That one
single moment changed everything. A year later I found myself presented with the unique opportunity
to join a youth group going over to work at an orphanage in Africa. The evangelist who preached the
service when I got saved had started a mission in Africa some years ago preaching the gospel and
bringing food and other supplies where needed. Over the years that mission had expanded to building
an orphanage and starting churches in remote areas and even starting a Bible school to teach them
about God and to be preachers in their own villages. Our hotel was located Moshi, a small but
somewhat thriving city near the Kilimanjaro National Park. Despite being dry and very dusty there
were cafes and restaurants and even a few electronics stores. Not exactly what I was expecting I ll
admit. We might have the misconception that all of Africa is uncivilized and everyone lives in huts
and wears rags for clothes and while this might be true for some areas it certainly is not true for most.

business men catching the bus to work. After an early breakfast at the hotel we piled into our van

Introduction
Each and everyday individuals namely radio listeners are emotionally stimulated by thousands of daily
news and commercial messages. Consumers of this traditional technology have to selectively process
the information they receive in order to make what was heard more easily recalled. Because of this,
advertisers put effort towards increasing the overall effect the product message has by employing
different cognitive strategies that may, or may not affect a listener.
For example, when CSU Global Campus marketing team creates an advertised message for radio
audiences regardless of the genre or listener segment the strategy might be to employ two separate
messages in two diverse markets. One message might promote a positive outcome such as achieving
the degree one has always wanted, while perhaps the other would promote avoiding a

In some Christian religions these three individuals are considered
to exist as one, and it is referred to as The Trinity. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day

distinctly separate individuals with their own distinct roles in our eternal progression. According
to the church s first Article of Faith, We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son,

The emergency medical services are proven to be slower in small rural areas than in a bigger city,
because most of the small town rural areas emergency response services are volunteer. While judging
the amount of coverage an emergency response station covers, government officials look at the
amount of people in a given area, not the mileage that area may cover. My hometown is mostly
farmland, with a population of seven hundred and fifty people, the farmland covers twenty five to
thirty miles in each direction. This may not sound like much land to cover, but when it comes to
saving lives, time is of the essence.
When coming up with what land the emergency services in the area covers, government officials
calculate the land in a area and how much taxes the land have in a given year and whether or not they
can afford emergency medical services. If a small town can not afford the cost of a full time medical
service, the government then puts the small town in the hands of the neighboring community that can
afford the emergency medical services. Sometimes the neighboring emergency medical services will
establish a volunteer EMT station in the small town to try and get as many emergency calls answered
as quickly as possible. Emergency medical systems are evaluated according to how they respond to
and treat out of hospital cardiac arrest patients (Sunarin, Mayorga, and Mclay 134). The rural and small
town areas are not able to respond in time do to lack of resources,

3. WHAT IS THE CLOUD Figure 1 representation of the cloud
The cloud, or cloud computing (basically internet computing), is a net based resource that allows
sharing computer resources without the need of local servers.[2] Not only does it not make us of local
servers but it does not make use of one s hard drive. This allows your hard drive to not lose memory

The benefit of being able to save/store data on the cloud instead of a local hard drive or a local server

Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C has been referred to as a Silent Epidemic, since it usually progresses slowly over many
years. Most people who are infected with hepatitis C are not aware of any noticeable symptoms for as
long as one to two decades after they are infected. In fact, by the time symptoms appear, the virus has
probably already begun to damage the liver. If the liver is injured and stops functioning, death will
always be the outcome (Lieber). Liver failure from chronic hepatitis C is one of the most common
causes of liver transplants in the United States. Hepatitis C is an inflammation of the liver s cells and
tissues caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Lastly is unprotected sex. The virus is present in the menstrual blood of infected women, so sexual

transmission of HCV through sexual intercourse outside menses and between males, but there is
current debate as to whether this is actually possible without the presence of a skin or tissue tear or
some other disease that provide an opening in the skin of both the infected person and potential
recipient. Most people are surprised to learn they have hepatitis C. Many people believe, they were
never at risk for acquiring the virus. They, therefore, cannot imagine how they contracted it.
There are a wide variety of symptoms that one, who is infected with hepatitis C, can experience while
in the different stages of the virus. The first symptoms occur between six to twelve weeks of contact
with the virus (Hoofnagle). The most common are flu like symptoms. They are fatigue, nausea, poor

Far Away Vs Shrek
Locked in a tower far, far away, guarded by a fire breathing dragon, lived a beautiful princess. Her
parents casted her away because she was cursed by an evil witch, by night one way, by day another
thus shall be the norm till you receive true loves kiss, and then take true loves form (Shrek). One day
she is to be rescued by a handsome prince, the curse would be broken, and they would live happily
ever after. At least that is what the storybook says, but in actuality, that is not how this story goes.
Shrek 2 breaks the typical stereotype of princess animated films by showing children a better
definition of happily ever after, making Fiona a strong character, and having a diverse character cast.

He comes off as a tough cat and a thief. When he encounters Shrek for the first time the audience
learns that he is not the actual tough cat he is put out to be. Latinos in America s society are seen as
thieves and are judged before anyone really gets to know them. That scene shows children that they
should not automatically assume that someone is a bad person because of their race. Even though
Shrek 2 is projecting toward different races by having a Latino and African American characters, they
still fall under the stereotypes of Hollywood by making these characters animals instead of humans.
With that fault, it shows that Shrek 2 is not perfect in every way but the film is headed in the right
direction for change. This film could be used as an inspiration for other filmmakers to take the next
step and introduce different races as human

Breakdown of the Mortgage Supply Chain
Executive Summary
This report reviews the current financial crisis by looking at the lack of quality management through
the mortgage supply chain. The crisis represents a failure of proper regulation and visibility
throughout the mortgage supply chain. Only careful management of these quality issues through all
financial institutions and through all aspects of the financial supply chain will remedy the past issues.
This is a difficult task but not impossible. This report will discuss each section of the mortgage supply
chain and how the weaknesses in the integration caused the financial crisis. Proposed legislation will
be explained in detail. Several recommendations will be proposed, both short term and long term,
which I believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Residential Mortgage Debt
Figure 1 shows the Outstanding First Lien Residential Mortgage Debt in all sectors as of 2007. The
Agency Mortgage Backed Securities represent the high credit, low loan to value, safe loans
administered by governmental agencies such as; Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae. The right
side of the exhibit shows the Non Agency Backed Securities which make up three areas of mortgage
where the government is not willing to lend. Jumbo loans consist of those loans which exceed the
maximum allowed loan limits which differ from state to state. This level is set forth by the
government and is any loan $417,000 or greater in North Carolina. The Alt A loans are intended for
those borrowers who do not fit in the conforming guidelines but who have a better credit rating and
history than a sub prime borrower. Alt A loans would consist of loans for investment properties,
second homes, or high loan to values for borrowers who would otherwise be considered conforming.
The third section of this exhibit makes up the sub prime borrowers who have less than stellar credit
but are willing to pay a higher down payment and a higher rate to get a mortgage loan. As you can see,
the sub prime sector makes up the majority of the non agency loans. Also note that most of

The Theme Of Herman Melville sBartleby, The Scrivener
Herman Melville s short story Bartleby, the Scrivener reveals different themes such as isolation and
human morality test. In the story, the narrator runs a law firm and has a new Scrivener [Bartleby] who
the narrator describes as the strangest I ever saw or heard of (661). For the first few days, Bartleby is
seen to be working fine, however, one day Bartleby just responds with I would prefer not to when
anyone assigns a task to Bartleby (674). The real problems start to arise when Bartleby sleeps and eats
at the office while denying to work or leave. The narrator illustrates the two main themes of human
morals and isolation throughout the story with the use of biblical references to Bartleby as a leper and
shows symbolism of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lawyer is not able to focus on anything because Bartleby will not move from the office or do any
work. The lawyer then decides to pay Bartleby a twenty dollar bill over and above whatever [is in
Bartleby s account] and tell him his services are not necessary (674).The lawyer throws money at
Bartleby instead of handing it to him in his hands. The lawyer is trying to get rid of Bartleby to let the
law firm make money. Melville portrays a constant war of conscience in the lawyer s mind regarding
Bartleby s actions and the lawyer s reactions. The lawyer goes to church regularly yet does not show
the Christian beliefs and ethics. As the story progresses, the lawyer decides to leave the current office
and shift to another office in hopes that Bartleby will not follow the company. Bartleby remains at the
office and does not move however the new employees find Bartleby s old employer. The new
employees ask whether the lawyer knows Bartleby. The lawyer responds by I certainly cannot inform
you. I know nothing about him (682). The fact that the lawyer straight up denies knowing anyone
named Bartleby is a biblical reference to Christ being denied by Peter (Zlogar 525). The lawyer denies
knowing Bartleby to avoid any issues that could affect the law firm. On the other hand, Peter denies
knowing Christ to avoid any punishments from Christ. Zlogar implicates that Bartleby initially comes
to the narrator as the leper comes to Christ (Zlogar 511). The

Descriptive Essay About My Father
Sometimes I think I know everything there is to know about my father. I know he only shaves when
the greys start to show. I know he likes green tea better than black. He watches Hallmark movies at
Christmas because it reminds him of Gran. He likes to wear plaid ironically. He watched me being
born when he was seventeen years old. He tells me he loves me, not every day but every week at least.
He doesn t have to say it too often. He just loves. Even when Angelo left, he kept loving him. He kept
the little shells they had found on the beach when we drove to the Great Salt Lake. They re lined up in
a row on the bathroom windowsill. He also kept Angelo s shirts, the ones he left behind. He wears
them sometimes; the ones with holes from where sparks burned the fabric for Angelo s welding
projects. We ve got one of those, too. A welding piece. It s a bird that has its wings up in a V. It s in the
front yard of the cabin, rusty and brown. It gets older every month. Dad says it s sad that he s gone.
That s why it s dying. As if it s a real, living creature. As if it breathes, like it holds some piece of
Angelo, like it s a beacon that will bring him back. Dad sees beauty in the metal and the edges. I see
sharp points, a twisted back, an open mouth caught saying something like why do you always do this
to us or don t make this my fault or don t be so fucking sensitive. If there s something I don t know
about my dad, it s how he lived with it for so long. The cabin we live in is more of an insulated shed.
It has two lofts, a bathroom, and one big space for the couch and kitchen and the fold down table. It
was the hunting cabin that Grampa used when he was alive. It s deep in the woods, connected to the
road by a mile long driveway.
We re twenty miles from Little Pesos, which has the Walmart, library/church, ranger station and the
charter high school. I walk three miles to get to the bus stop that takes me the rest of the way. We have
classes from April to October. In winter, the weather is too unpredictable. Dad likes the cabin. He likes
the quiet and the trees that are crowded like cold children, arms wrapped around each other for
warmth. He likes to hunt, too. Grampa had showed him to shoot when he was a

Descriptive Essay About My Family
My Oasis
A little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes stares out the window of her parents red Mazda Tribute. As
the Mazda comes to a stop, the little girl lays her eyes upon a big green house with a sign out front that
says, Welcome to the Lake . That blue eyed girl was me ten years ago, and that big green house was
my grandparent s lake house right after they purchased it. This was the first time I ever laid eyes on a
home that now holds a special place in my heart. I have grown to love the lake house for three
reasons; the lake provides me with a place to connect with my family, it s a retreat from the outside
world, and I have many different hobbies that involve the lake.
Directly in the middle of the large green lake house is a family room. The room has two dark blue
couches and the floor has bean bags scattered all over; all of the seats provide us with enough space to
fit my grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, siblings, and cousins all in one room. Whenever families
get bigger they start to drift apart because everyone has so much going on. All of my family lives less
than fifteen minutes away from me, but sometimes we all get so caught up in our own lives that we
forget how important it is to spend time with each other. This family room is our anchor; It provides us
with a place where we can all forget about the little things in our lives and focus on what matters,
family. Some of my best memories of the lake aren t even about the lake, but instead the memories

Reflective Essay on Writing Techniques I Have Learned
Over the past few months, I have learned several different writing techniques. While all of the
different types of papers were difficult to write, I believe that my writing skills have improved. In fact,
I did not understand all of the assignments, but I did try to do my best on all of them. While I should
have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs, I feel that I learned a great
deal. It is true that I have not had very much writing experience and the writing process is difficult for
me. Sometimes, I do admit, it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I am
a proficient writer.
For example, the research paper was one of the most difficult assignments that I have ever written. I
did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I did not introduce the person effectively. For example, when quoting someone, one should write
something such: as Balko points out that, he is upset with insurance companies (Balko). This example
is in my own words and is an example of a paraphrase. I quoted people and then would not write what
I thought about the quote afterwards. When doing this in an essay, the teacher has no way of knowing
what the student is trying to convey. A proper quote should start with an introduction. After the
introduction, you have to say what the person has said, followed by what you think about what they
said. After doing this, a student should cite the author by using parentheses. I did not know that a
writer was supposed to do this. My first paper was very inadequate.
Additionally, I also cited sources and then forgot where I got the information. However, the use of
citing information and research was also one of my debilitating points. Nevertheless, I believe after
the reminders, corrections, and proofreading that needed pointing out to me, helped me improve in
this area.
Research in the library labs were very helpful and informative in spotting web sites that were biased
and did not have creditable information. Many people make web sites that are not credible and it is
always good to select scholarly sources when writing research papers for school. When one researches
a subject, you should always keep good records. I am a disorganized person, and lose

Persuasive Essay On Drug Cartels
For me personally, it s been a nightmare, because I don t see any way out now. The men who got
inside my house put their guns to my neighbors heads that s including one six year old girl. This is
Mexican investigative journalists Anabel Hernandez s response when asked about her safety and a
recent home invasion directed toward her courtesy of the drug cartels.(Alexandrov) This is what it is
like to lead a career as a journalist reporting on drug cartels in many latin American countries. The
cartels influence on local and federal government in Mexico gives them the freedom to threaten and
actively pursue journalists as targets with no retributions for their actions. This is leaving journalists
like Hernandez defenseless and in danger, in the last ten years alone more than 80 journalists have
been killed and nothing is being done about it.(Alexandrov)
The impunity given to cartels for the acts of violence and intimidation carried out on journalists has
taken a toll on the media s integrity and has made their job one of the most dangerous and undesirable
jobs in Mexico. Not only are the cartels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have a president that bashes the media from all sides claiming most every report that is not in his
favor as fake news . We have all heard him say it, on social media or on television or other sources.
The problem with this is, even though it may seem harmless, this undermines the media s credibility
due to the millions of people that are influenced by his words and actions. Creating a relationship of
mistrust between the people of America and the media as well as casting them as an enemy to the
public is detrimental to the media sources; furthermore it has the same consequences as the weakened
media in Mexico. Media s role is to provide unbiased reports to the public and should neither work

States By Edward Said Essay
The essay States, by Edward Said, describes the trouble for Palestinians to find their identity due to
the loss of their homeland. He also describes the situation of the Palestinians and the isolation that
they feel through photographs that he had taken. Said has many different pictures throughout this
essay and each of them play a part in supporting the main point of this essay. Said believes that,
without a homeland, the Palestinians cannot have an identity and the Palestinians should not be
content with being exiles forever. So the purpose of the pictures is to support and further strengthen
this idea. The photographer wants the viewer to understand the struggle that the Palestinians are going
through. To begin, Said is trying to describe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second image (18) shows a man and a woman both inside what looks like a respectable house.
However, the captions explains, A village of settled nomads near Beersheba. Some years ago, these
people still lived in a tent, under the desert sky [...] (18). So Said provides this image to show how
people struggle, these people once lived in just a tent in extreme conditions. He also chose this to
show to the reader that this exile treatment happened to everyone no matter who you are and what
your status is. The third image also supports the notion that no matter which palestinian it was he or
she was till oiled and treated no better than the rest (20). The image shows a man and a woman sitting
down in what looks like the living room area of a house. However, the caption says, A visit to the
former mayor of Jerusalem and his wife, in exile in Jordan (20). So even people of high importance in
the Palestine are in exiled and are being treated the same. This reveals to the reader that no matter who
you were you still struggled if you were a Palestinian exile. The sixth image (25) shows a picture of a
tent encampment in what looks like a very dry desert. The tent looks as if it is either broken or just one
side is missing. This picture is significant because it shows the harsh

Clinical Reflection
This last week at clinical was my favorite week of the entire semester. I could have spent all day in the
neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given at Cardons. I
started in the unit where the babies were not critically ill, but still needed some developmental
assistance before they could be discharged home. I cared for a set of twins who were on total
parenteral nutrition (TPN), were fed breastmilk through their nasogastric tube (NG), and were not on
any medications. Their mom is very active in their care and seemed thankful of the nursing staff for
taking such good care of her babies. She comes to visit them every day. Her husband drops her off
before he goes into work and picks her up on his way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I got to see many of them on an oscillatory ventilation. It was interesting to know that a successful
oscillator will make their lower belly jiggle, that s when you know everything is working right and it
is helping them breathe. I was able to see an intravenous (IV) line inserted on a baby and it took many
tries, but finally was a success. I loved how much teamwork was involved in the NICU, they were
always helping and reaching out to see if anyone needed anything. The highlight of my day was being
able to assist in a peripherally inserted central catheter, also known as a PICC line. It took almost two
hours to complete the entire procedure. After the baby was given fentanyl to help calm and partially
sedate her, I began to clean her right leg from heel to high thigh with iodine. The PICC line nurse
wanted to go in through the great saphenous vein, and used her fancy light to find the best vein the
baby had, which would be the most direct route to the heart. She inserted the needle into the skin just
as a normal IV would be started, then introduced the catheter which she cut to nineteen centimeters.
She proceeded to insert the catheter without resistance. After that was complete, x ray had to come and
check the placement. The x ray showed that the catheter was in the abdomen rather than the heart. The
nurse pulled back the catheter and started over, we waited for another x ray, and it showed that it was
in the heart, just a little high. She pulled the catheter out three centimeters and it was now in the
correct place with great blood return. It was a length but very neat process to have been a part

Unraveling the Function of Disease-Related Gene
Creating cellular model has been a challenging task of a genetic engineer. However, cellular model
became a favorite model for biologists due to its inexpensive in generation and maintenance of
culture, avoid risk of losing any precious biological material and expedite the various inherent
intriguing biological mechanisms at first instance before testing for the in vivo application. Cellular
models also provide a great avenue for studying the disease mechanism and drug discovery. To
generate the cellular genetic model, TALENs with the reporters are transfected in human cell line to
induce targeted genome modification. Genetically modified mammals can serve as valuable models of
human genetic disorders, but the majority of disease associated alleles represent single nucleotide
replacement that lead to missense, nonsense, and silent mutations (Sauna and Kimchi Sarfaty, 2011).
Compared with other animal models, mice are preferred because of their small body size, their
fertilization cycle, and genetically close relationship to human genome. To unravel the function of
disease related genes and to understand the mechanism of disease progression, mouse mutants were
generated by pronuclear microinjection of TALEN mRNA targeted to the mouse homologs of human
disease genes into one cell embryos to generate novel Knockout and Knockin mutants.

The Empty House, By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The purpose of this project is to assess whether Sherlock Holmes, the protagonist in Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle s detective stories, has Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASP). Antisocial Personality Disorder
is a personality disorder characterized by impairments in personality functioning, along with the
presence of multiple pathological personality traits. Many aspects of Sherlock Holmes personality and
behavior are indicative of ASP. In order to demonstrate this, I used the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to relate specific ASP criteria to situations and characterization of
Holmes throughout Doyle s works. Specifically, I related DSM criteria to quotations from Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle s A Study in Scarlet, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, the impairments cannot be attributed to the individual s developmental or sociocultural context,
and they cannot be caused by drug use. Due to the extensive nature of these DSM criteria, however, I
used only three aspects of the diagnostic list to assess Holmes. The complete list of diagnostic criteria
for ASP can be found in the Appendix (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
Throughout many of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s detective stories, Holmes exhibits an impairment in
empathy. In the DSM, an impairment in empathy is classified as an impairment in interpersonal
functioning. It is defined as a lack of concern for feelings, needs, or suffering of others; lack of
remorse after hurting or mistreating another (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Essentially,
impairment in this area is characterized by a person s general disregard for others feelings or suffering.
In Doyle s first Sherlock Holmes story, A Study in Scarlet , we learn that Holmes has an impairment in
empathy. Stamford, who is describing Holmes to John Watson, says that Holmes [beats] the subjects
in the dissecting room with a stick... to verify how far bruises may be produced after death (Doyle
1887/1986). Although the subjects that Holmes is mutilating are corpses, this behavior does show a
lack of empathy. Holmes shows an utter disregard for these corpses who were alive and well, at a
point by mutilating them and beating them. Although he does this

The History Of The Music Industry
The history of the music industry is inevitably also the story of the development of technology. From
the player piano to the vinyl disc, from reel to reel tape to the cassette, from the CD to the digital
download, these formats and devices changed not only the way music was consumed, but the very
way artists created it. (Edgar Bronfman, jr). The music industry is an ever changing and ever growing
business, it adapts and changes with culture, economy and technology. For some it is a way of
expression and offers realise from mundane reality, for others it is a money making machine there to
be abused. But what is the future of the music industry? What place does it have in a digital world,
ever growing and advancing? How has file sharing and piracy changed the music industry and what
will it hold for the future business model? Many enthusiasts say we should embrace the revolution of
digital and look to the future as an exciting adventure, with untold possibilities for recording artists
and musicians alike. That the birth of digital and technology such as the compact disk offer new ways
to create, record and distribute music in a way that was not available in a not so distant past, accessed
only by those in control of major record labels and professional recording studios. But what is file
sharing? what were the significant changes that have shaped an industry into being dominated by the
digital download and illegal file sharing? The purpose of the study is to analyse the key

  • 2. Anna Wong Research Paper 1928 and 1929 were important years for Los Angeles born Chinese actress Anna May Wong. News reports about her Hollywood movies decreased, instead, according to an American gossip columnist visiting Europe during Wong s tenure, she was acclaimed by nobility in several European newspapers (Petersen, 2014). Severely limited by the noxious roles she was offered in Hollywood, which misrepresented Asian women, Wong left the United States for Europe (Vechten, 2003). She then spent two years in Germany, England and France, where she gained global attention and worldwide stardom. This special period in Wong s life was also a sensitive period for Chinese immigrants and all the ethnic actors and actresses in Hollywood, who barely made livings under ... In the year 1928 New York Time s Article titled Berlin Praises Miss Wong: Her First Film Produced in Germany Acclaimed Premiere , the journalist wrote that: Credit is given to China for the success achieved in the Alhambra Theatre last night by Anna May Wong of Hollywood in Song, the first picture she screened here under the management of Richard Eichberg, independent German producer. (New York Times, 1928) They thought that having Wong in the film was a chance for development and a chance to enlarge the area by involving characters of Asian, when in that time, not so many Asians were in Europe. Besides, Wong was truly a wise woman. She spoke fluent German in her first talkie, The Road to Dishonor . The article claimed that Four months ago she hardly knew a word of German. Today, they assure me, she speaks like a native. From the spluttering that goes on I feel certain this is true (Shute, 1929). By doing everything herself, even the auditoriums, she finally bloomed her talents. Like a good horse finally find the right trainer, I regret her not having met these producer s sooner. If so, she might start her global career much faster. Yet, what was most valuable to her was European filmmakers embrace of her identity, besides focusing more on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of Magic Johnson And Larry Bird The National Basketball Association (NBA) has transformed over the many of years as an organization and a brand, into a multibillion dollar business that draws thousands and thousands of fans to each and every game. Many contributing factors have made the NBA what it is today, but the main cause of this gain in interest is the ultimate rivalry between two remarkable players, Earvin Magic Johnson and Larry the Legend Bird. The battling rivalry amongst these individuals is comparable to the feud of Coca Cola and Pepsi, or, Star Wars and Star Trek. During the era of modern television, and the still and ever present racial bigotry, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird helped redefine the game of basketball and popularity of the NBA with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yes, many could argue that former and following rivalries between individuals such as George Mikan and Bob Cousy or Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett could be compared to the Magic Bird rivalry, however timing for Magic and Bird couldn t been any more fitting. During the 80 s, the period of which these individuals played, the NBA desperately needed a new spark, and the NBA got just what it needed. Larry Bird s Celtics during the 1979 80 season made a dramatic improvement from a 29 53 record the year before to 61 21 (Magic Johnson and). While Bird is making an extraordinary turnaround for his Boston Celtics, Magic Johnson, during his rookie season, won a NBA championship for the Los Angeles Lakers. This was the Los Angeles Lakers seventh NBA championship victory. Their success helped the NBA, but their identities off the court supersedes the game of basketball. The years previous to the Magic Bird rivalry were ever changing. The NBA changed from a fundamental, half court game with all white players, to a quick pace, athletically acrobatic game with mainly black players. Few old school former white people, such as Jerry West and Pete Maravich, could participate and compete in this new form of basketball. This different style of basketball significantly swayed many viewers, white fans, from attending the NBA games. White fans felt that the game was very egocentric and didn t involve all the players. Also, the white fans didn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Overview of 3GPP Lont Term Evolution An Introduction of Overview of 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) Long Term Evolution (LTE) is 4G wireless communications standard radio platform technologies that allow operators to achieve higher peak throughputs than HSPA+ in higher spectrum bandwidth. LTE was developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), and this began in 2004, with an official LTE work item started in 2006 and a completed 3GPP Release 8 specification in March 2009. Initial deployments of LTE began in late 2009, and it is part of the GSM evolutionary path for mobile broadband, following EDGE, UMTS, HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA combined) and HSPA Evolution (HSPA+). Although HSPA and its evolution are strongly positioned to be the dominant mobile data technology for the next decade, the 3GPP family of standards must evolve toward the future. HSPA+ will provide the stepping stone to LTE for many operators. The overall objective for LTE is to provide an extremely high performance radio access technology that offers full vehicular speed mobility and that can readily coexist with HSPA and earlier networks. Because of scalable bandwidth, operators will be able to easily migrate from their networks and users from HSPA to LTE over time. LTE assumes a full Internet Protocol (IP) network architecture and is designed to support voice in the packet domain. It incorporates top of the line radio techniques to achieve performance levels beyond what will be practical with CDMA approaches, particularly in larger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Double Indemnity Movie Essay Film Genre Essay Double Indemnity Double Indemnity directed by Billy Wilder conforms to the Noir style. Double Indemnity is widely believed to be one of the original Noir style films that used and started many of the Noir clichĆ©s that we know today. It is part of the Noir style because of the techniques and stylistics utilized in the film that are typical to that of most Noir films. These stylistics are explained by Paul Schrader, in Notes on Film Noir (1972), he writes about the stylistics that must occur when considering films of the Noir style. These stylistics are used to create a formula for all Noir films, and out of the seven stylistics about characterisation, lighting and structure only one does not feature in Double Indemnity . Also, characters in Double Indemnity are typical of Noir films that being the hard boiled hero and femme fatale this adds to the reason for it to be under the Noir ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where compositional tension is used instead of physical action. According to Schrader, a typical noir would rather move the scene around cinematographically around the actor rather than have the actor control the scene by physical action . Thomas Leitch writes, creates unbalanced visual compositions marked by dazzling, bleached out whites amid pools of deep shadow that often conceal important onscreen spaces or expressions on characters faces . This means that compositional tension is used to draw the viewer in an attempt to surprise them and to add emotion and response. When Phyliss shoots Walter he is surrounded by darkness this is to show compositional tension. The tension helps the film stick to the Noir style because there is a deep sense of mistake near the end of the film. Physical action is often overused in film and that s why it is a pleasant change in this film because it gives you a different viewing. Assessment and Treatment of Combat Related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder The number of veterans returning from the Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), and Operation New Dawn (OND) conflicts that are afflicted with posttraumatic stress disorder is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands (Kip, et al., 2013, p. 1298), demonstrating the importance of the social worker to be knowledgeable of the symptoms and treatment of this disabling trauma. The purpose of this literature review is to address the issue of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), address the symptoms linked to PTSD, and the methods used in the assessment of posttraumatic stress disorder with emphasis on military combat related PTSD. In addition, the literature review will identify the interventions by social work, if any, when addressing PTSD and the role social workers may play when assisting those with combat related posttraumatic stress disorder. Assessment Posttraumatic stress disorder is caused by exposure to a traumatic stressor or bearing witness to such an event (Peterson, Luethcke, Borah, Borah, Young McCaughan, 2011, p. 166). Patients cannot develop PTSD without this exposure. Risk factors for a client s development of combat related PTSD can be divided into three main categories: the trauma s type and severity, the individual s factors, such as age, socioeconomic status, and psychiatric and previous history, and external environmental factors (Peterson, et al., ... • 10. Achieving Inclusion In Education Inclusion is the provision of strategies and resources to ensure all children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential irrespective of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation or disability (Dean, 2006; Department for Education (DfE), 2013). To attain inclusion, individuals must be enabled to fully participate in mainstream activities and to be valued and accepted within the school community (Coyle, 2011). However, Barnard, Prior, and Potter (2000) acknowledge that the process of inclusive education can prove challenging (Coyle, 2011; Simpson and De Boer, 2009; Humphrey, 2008). Under the 1944 Education Act, children with special educational needs were arranged according to their medical condition (House of Commons, 2006). Many children were considered to be uneducable in mainstream settings and were considered to be mentally retarded , maladjusted or sub normal (House of Commons, 2006). Pupils with SEN were often sent to special schools and taught practical skills as an alternative to standard education (Bateman, Lloyd and Tankersley, 2015). The Warnock Report in 1978, followed by the 1981 Education Act, introduced the idea of special educational needs (SEN), statements, and an inclusive approach to education (House of Commons, 2006). ... The media also looked into the countries that surrounded Iran and saw them as potential bullies towards Iran and, in turn, the United States and its assets. At this point, the Shah was the primary figurehead and there was little to no attention given to those that opposed him and his regime within his own country. Reporters focused more on how the Shah was positively affected his people (e.g. improved standard of living, increased wages, westernization, infrastructure development, etc.) This gave a very positive light to Iran, even though the Shah was still running an authoritarian police state. During this time, another Iranian topic that frequented the news was the decline of the economy and the impact that it had on oil, especially the oil that was exported to the United States. The evangelist who preached the service when I got saved had started a mission in Africa some years ago preaching the gospel and bringing food and other supplies where needed. Over the years that mission had expanded to building an orphanage and starting churches in remote areas and even starting a Bible school to teach them about God and to be preachers in their own villages. Our hotel was located Moshi, a small but somewhat thriving city near the Kilimanjaro National Park. Consumers of this traditional technology have to selectively process the information they receive in order to make what was heard more easily recalled. Because of this, advertisers put effort towards increasing the overall effect the product message has by employing different cognitive strategies that may, or may not affect a listener. For example, when CSU Global Campus marketing team creates an advertised message for radio audiences regardless of the genre or listener segment the strategy might be to employ two separate messages in two diverse markets. The emergency medical services are proven to be slower in small rural areas than in a bigger city, because most of the small town rural areas emergency response services are volunteer. While judging the amount of coverage an emergency response station covers, government officials look at the amount of people in a given area, not the mileage that area may cover. My hometown is mostly farmland, with a population of seven hundred and fifty people, the farmland covers twenty five to thirty miles in each direction. This may not sound like much land to cover, but when it comes to saving lives, time is of the essence. When coming up with what land the emergency services in the area covers, government officials calculate the land in a area and how much taxes the land have in a given year and whether or not they can afford emergency medical services. If a small town can not afford the cost of a full time medical service, the government then puts the small town in the hands of the neighboring community that can afford the emergency medical services. However, cellular model became a favorite model for biologists due to its inexpensive in generation and maintenance of culture, avoid risk of losing any precious biological material and expedite the various inherent intriguing biological mechanisms at first instance before testing for the in vivo application. Cellular models also provide a great avenue for studying the disease mechanism and drug discovery. To generate the cellular genetic model, TALENs with the reporters are transfected in human cell line to induce targeted genome modification. Genetically modified mammals can serve as valuable models of human genetic disorders, but the majority of disease associated alleles represent single nucleotide replacement that lead to missense, nonsense, and silent mutations (Sauna and Kimchi Sarfaty, 2011). Compared with other animal models, mice are preferred because of their small body size, their fertilization cycle, and genetically close relationship to human genome.
