Examples Of Tension In An Inspector Calls
Pick out three key moments in the first two acts of An Inspector Calls and analyze how Priestly
controls tension and suspense.
In An Inspector Calls Priestley manipulates tension and suspense to give us insight on his political and
social views (eg. the class system). He builds up tension and suspense during the course of the acts
ending with a cliffhanger, leaving the audience curious and guessing as to what would happen next.
For example, the Inspector s entrance where Priestley creates tension by using lighting. The lighting
initially pink and intimate , possibly conveying the idea of the Birlings and Gerald looking at life
through rose tinted glasses. They are shown to be idealistic near the start of the play, ignoring the
cracks in Gerald and Sheila s relationship ( except for all last summer, when you never came near me )
but the light becomes harsh right before the Inspector enters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Before this, she is shown as a docile submissive girl ( I m sorry, Daddy ) and the change would come
across as a great shock to the audience. Sheila interrupts Gerald when he says Now listen darling
which makes the audience understand the gravity of the situation. Sheila s argumentative tone which
is juxtaposed with Gerald s silence ( He does not reply ) builds an ominous mood and elevates Sheila s
anger. The argument ends before we are given substantial information, leaving us with incomplete
information and wanting to know more.
The stage direction of The door slowly opens , a metaphor for the Inspector slowly exposing each
piece of the information increases the levels of suspense in the room leaving the audience to think
about what has just happened. The Well? by the Inspector is short and simple, a contrast to the
argument between Gerald and Sheila. The rhetorical question the Inspector asks is what Priestley
wants the audience to think as well as the act ends with a

The Consecution Of Christians In The Redemption Of Peter
The persecution of the Church affected a lot in the family life of Christians. Emperor Nero did the first
heinous persecution of Christians. In one of movies The redemption of Peter shows few glimpses of
this persecution. Families with children, women and old parents were sent to the unbelievable torture
containing loud and painful screams as being Christians, were heard being tortured but they did not
deny their faith. The Emperor says he wants to burn Christians, so he can have light for his garden;
Emperor s wife says, Kill them all! . In one of the prison s scene, soldier shares his concern with
another soldier while guarding prison that poor children did nothing wrong but are suffering with their
parents. Children were humiliated with their families. (P162 Macculcah): In third century, Perpetua
(martyr) embraced Christianity. She knew the result of it, will be death. Her father did his best not to
declare herself as Christian for the sake of his grey hair, for her son, brother and family. She asked her
father, do you see the vase, or whatever you want to call it, can you call it by another name than what
it is? He said, No, you can t. So, I cannot call myself anything other what I am a Christian. She
disobeyed her father. Her concern for her brother for whom she prayed in vision, her attachment for
her son and family was remarkable. She had a hard choice to be a martyr or a good mother. For the
sake of her faith she sacrificed her family life and later became a

Essay On The Battle Of San Jacinto
The battle of San Jacinto started on March 13, 1836, this battle was the last one of the Texas
revolution. Sam Houston led his troops to San Felipe de Austin on March 28. By March 30, they were
by the Brazos River, where they would camp out and practice drill over the night. At this time Santa
Anna had control of the Texas coast and sea ports. Santa Anna crossed the Brazos River and
Richmond on April 11 and on April 15, with about 700 men, arrived at Harrisburg. He would then
began to start burning down Harrisburg and go looking for the Texas government, but when he arrived
at morgens point the movement had fled to Galveston. Santa Anna then sent out Anahuac by way of
Lynchburg. On April 11 the Texans received a cannon called the twin sisters.

The Human Skin
Your skin is the body s first defense mechanism. A barrier against pathogens and water loss, the
human epidermis undergoes a constant renewal process called cornification, as old dead skin cells,
corneocytes, are shed and replaced by cells from the layers below to maintain constant protection. A
defect in the skin barrier could develop various skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis. The most
common form of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin condition characterized by inflammation
and itchy, dry patches of skin. Although no cause has been determined, researchers focus on studying
genetic abnormalities and influences on a defective epidermal barrier (Sajic, Asiniwasis, Skotnicki
Grant, 2012). Mutations in the filaggrin gene, with environmental factors that further damage the skin
s protective barrier, are one of many aspects contributing to the cracked skin and inflammation of
atopic dermatitis.
Filaggrin is an important protein in cornification that contributes to the strength and moisture of the
stratum corneum, or topmost layer of the skin, through formation of the cornified envelope and
maintenance of the natural moisturizing factor. The precursor to filaggrin is profilaggrin, a protein in
keratohyalin F granules at the granular epidermal layer. As the granular cells transition to the stratum
corneum during cornification, serine activated proteases proteotypically cleave profilaggrin into
filaggrin peptides (McLean Irvine, 2012). The filaggrin then binds to and

The Pros And Cons Of Commodification In Football
Football, America s sport, which is loved from high school all the way to professional level of the
game, has evolved significantly over the years to becoming as big of an entertainment spectacle as it
has as well as becoming increasingly competitive over the years that it has been in session. With the
very first football game being played between Rutgers and Princeton to Peyton Manning making a
touchdown pass that was recognized by the World Record Association in the game against the 49ers, a
spectator can tell the difference between not only skill and the technical aspects of the game, but
between the love for the game itself. It has created a very huge fan base that has in turn, created many
rivalries amongst the fans on which of the teams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has had a lot of positive effects on how it has evolved throughout the years. It has created a lot of
job opportunities for many people, as well as given chances to people to be remotely involved and
engaged with fantasy football. However, along with these pros comes a few cons. Even though fantasy
football has its positives to it, it also has its negatives. When people get too into it, they start betting on
it and start to not care about the players that are involved. This leads to the next point that players have
started to form a mentality of no pain, no gain . They play through pain and injuries, whether it be for
fans wanting their favorite teams and players to do well or that their love of the game has gone too far
to a point that they do not care how bad their damaging their bodies. The commodification overall has
had a good impact with some downsides to it. Another downside would be that some fans do not even
notice that these players are getting hurt and some do not even care just as long as the game remains
the entertaining Sunday tradition that they have taken part in since they were

Victory of the North
22 March 2013
Victory of the North
There are many causes that led to the victory of the North, as well as many effects that follow their
victory. Three important causes that led to the victory of the North are economic growth, secession,
and the election of President Abraham Lincoln. Three important effects that followed the victory of
the Northern States in the American Civil War are emancipation, a new financial system, and political
freedom.
The Civil War of America has been discussed as the first modern war of the new industrial age. Army
s of such a large size had yet to meet head on, face to face in the battle field with weapons of such
mass destruction and deadly force. America had not yet seen casualties of this magnitude to ... Show

They continued to adopt a constitution of their own. Then they chose Jefferson Davis from the state of
Mississippi to be their president.
The first effect of the North s victory over the South is emancipation. Even though slaves were
technically freed through contraband , Lincoln continued to persist that this fights intent is to save the
Union, not to free the slaves. But, before eighteen sixty two, Lincoln considered emancipation as
being the next step necessary to win the war. On July twenty second eighteen sixty two, Lincoln
unveiled a draft of the Emancipation Proclamation to his cabinet. It proposed emancipation of all
slaves in rebel areas on January 1st, eighteen sixty three. The Secretary of State William H. Seward
agreed with Lincoln s initial draft, but he warned President Lincoln to wait till the Union had won a
major victory before introducing the proclamation to the public. In eighteen sixty two President
Lincoln got his opportunity to do so, when the Union was victorious in the Battle of Antietam. On
September twenty second President Lincoln officially issued the Emancipation Proclamation to the
public. The Proclamation warned the Confederate states that if they did not surrender by January first,
eighteen sixty three, their slaves would be freed.
The second effect of the North s victory over the South is a new financial system. The American Civil
War destroyed the

Analysis of The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost Essay
Thesis Robert Frosts The Road Not Taken is more symbolic of a choice one must make in their life in
attempt to foresee the outcome before reaching the end, than it is about choosing the right path in the
woods. Describe the literal scene and situation. The literal scene of Robert Frost s The Road Not
Taken, is described as a yellowed wood (Arp Johnson, 2009). Use of this description could be that fall
is upon the wood or the trees perhaps once white have yellowed with age. Before the traveler is a road
split into two different directions, he has no idea where each road leads. In trying to imagine, where
each one might lead he tries to look down each path (Arp Johnson, 2009), but to no avail as he can

It could just be symbolic for a choice that he must make in his life. As college students, our road is
what major we will choose and this will help decide the outcome of our future. When one decides to
follow God a divided path becomes the focus of our lives, do we continue down the path we have
been on our whole lives, and is well known but will surely lead to death? On the other hand, do we
choose the path God would have us take not only changing our lives, but in the end instead of an
eternity spent in the cold grip of death, we find eternal life? Why does the title emphasize the road not
taken? The emphasis on the road not taken is Frost s way of making us think as we read this poem that
no matter which way the speaker chose to go a road would always stay not taken. The speaker
intended to complete his journey on the chosen path, then at another time go back, and take the other
direction. What are the rhythm patterns that Frost uses in the poem (include the scansion and technical
methods: alliteration, assonance, and consonance)? Frost uses both masculine rhyme and end rhyme.
The masculine rhyme is the rhyming sounds that contain only one syllable such as wood, stood, and
should. The end rhyme pattern that Frost uses is, A, B, A, A, B C, D, C, C, D E, F, E, E, F and G, H,
G, G, H. (Arp Johnson, 2009). There are lines of this poem that show the alliteration method, two
examples are found in line 6 then took the , and line 8 wanted wear Assonance also

without company. P
P: The speaker compares himself to a cloud that floats alone over the hills when he sees a lot of
daffodils in the field. The speaker tells the audience that now whenever he is alone in his study

C: This poem has multiple examples of metaphor and simile, one even appearing in the title. To be
compared to a cloud can imply that you are gloomy, a lone grey storm cloud ready to rain.

Janmar Coatings Case Study
Janmar Coatings, Inc. | To: | Ronald Burns | Subject: | Janmar Coatings, Inc. Suggestions | Comments:
| The problem facing Janmar Coatings, Inc. is deciding where and how to execute corporate marketing
efforts in the southwestern United States. Janmar Coatings is currently marketing to 50 counties, their
main focus area so far has been the 11 counties in the Dallas Fort Worth area. The main issue Ronald
Burns, the president of Janmar Coatings, is having is trying to come up with a solution to market his
company in the most cost effective way during 2005. After 2 long meetings with his executive team he
still has no clear direction. He has gathered an approach from each of his team members, including:

Janmar needs to focus all their current energies on the DIY consumers and professional painters.
Hiring a new sales representative would be the smartest decision right now because they will know
every detail of the products and have the ability to market that properly to each of those consumer
segments. However, I have also considered the Vice President of Advertising s suggestion that they
should increase advertising expense by $350,000. While initially, increasing advertising expenses
sounds like a good thing to do, this decision would almost double the current advertising expenditure.
Janmar is spending around 3% of revene on advertising and sales promotions efforts; which comes out
to nearly $360,000. And while it may By increasing advertising expenses by $350,000, an additional
$1,000,000 in sales will need to be recovered to make up for this expenditure. Mr. Burns makes a
valid point by saying that 75% of the audience advertised too is not buying paint. With 25% of your
audience only looking to buy paint, it would not be worth the risk of not increasing sales by
$1,000,000, to implement the extra advertising expense. Also, I considered the Vice President of
Operations proposal for a 20% price cut on all Janmar Coatings, Inc products. Price cuts are always
something that needs to be entered into with extreme caution. Even the slightest 1 2% drop in price

This is fitting with the rest of the narrator s description of these times. The closeness of mother and
son, the evenings usually ending with the boy in his mother s arms while she croon [s} some old
melody without words (5). The narrator notes during these times, his mother would look into the fire
with great dark eyes, ...to where? No one knew but her (5). This image personifies a surreal moment
when music takes the heart and mind to another time and place. The two were in harmony with each
other, he forming the background of her existence while she lived each day in a pleasing manner of
daily routine and motherly instruction. From this the narrator takes the reader through the
development of his attachment to the art form. His talent, which expanded during his young childhood
and the early thumping on the piano, evolved into his adulthood styling of ragtime. His early
instruction happened in the form of a woman and her daughter, each of whom taught the young
narrator in music and in general education. This formed a basic foundation in the fundamentals of
music which enabled the narrator to build his musical repertoire. Later and with the aid of a new
instructor, the label of infant prodigy was used to describe the level of talent in possession of the
narrator (18). The author employs much into the descriptions of the narrator s early development in
music and his training, not only in hymns and old melodies, but in the classics also.

Thesis Of Half Earth
Half Earth by E.O. Wilson (2016) deals with the complicated nature of conservation. The book is
clearly written by a man who values every aspect of biodiversity, even to the point of disregarding
certain key arguments against protected areas. This paper will summarize Wilson s argument in Half
Earth, along with his suggested solutions. To close, the concept of making half the earth a protected
area has many positives and negatives that will be evaluated. Leakage, indigenous populations, and
possible habitat fragmentation are all issues around protected areas that will be analyzed. The fact of
the matter is that Wilson s argument is complicated by works by other academics and authors.

The United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Church is growing and it is happening in nontraditional areas. Between 2005
and 2013 outreach ministries connected the UMC with diverse communities and created over 130,000
new disciples in His image. Outreach ministries believe in providing sustenance to who are without
basic needs and envision a day without want. On this foundation, missionaries built programs and
create an opportunity for growth. Through ministry, the UMC continues to provide support and
generosity to those who need help, while transforming missionaries actions into disciples across the
globe. UMC apportionments equip ministries and change the world.
The state of giving within The United Methodist Church has increased over the last decade. With the

Inventing The People Morgan Analysis
In Inventing the People, Morgan initially makes a radical claim that the entire foundation upon which
American democracy was built, is a fiction. What follows is a three hundred page analysis of what
Morgan calls political fictions. These fictions have been developed throughout our history, most
notably, the fictions of the divine right of kings and the sovereignty of the people. Systematically,
Morgan breaks down these fictions to their root, unveiling the shaky basis upon which they lie, and
then revealing all of the pitfalls inherent in their actual realization, to indicate the modified form of
these political fictions that we know today. Morgan argues that the problem with political fictions is
that they have become so ingrained in societal thought that we are ... Show more content on

Thus, he begins with an example he claims Americans today can all understand as an obvious fiction,
the political fiction developed during the reign of James I (1603 1625): the divine right of kings.
While it may seem clear to Americans today that such an idea was not entirely sound, English citizens
at the time fell victim to the classic logic inherent in political fictions, the idea that, the fiction has
always been real and is simply a part of society as we know it. However, our ability to discern fact
from fiction in the case of the divine right of kings serves Morgan s point that a political fiction is also
present today, yet we are now the ones falling victim to the fiction. In the transition from the fiction of
divine right to that of popular sovereignty, one

Comparing Dr. Moreau And The Beetle
In two fin de siècle novels, H.G. Wells s The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896) and Robert Marsh s The
Beetle (1897), sadism plays a central role. However, while The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle
both include characters that exemplify sadism, the novels differ greatly in the characters portrayals
due to the sadistic characters gender. The sadistic Moreau is presented as Machiavellian tyrant.
However, because Moreau s gender aligns with ideas of gendered sadism, the novel does not portray
him as degenerate, monstrous, nor ambiguous. In contrast, The Beetle tampers with the sadistic female
body, which leads to doubt of her true sex and form and leaves her as an undecidable, degenerate
monstrosity. The sadistic characters descriptions in The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle ... Show

The rise in popularity of guitar bands and the phenomenal success of the Guitar Hero video game

With all these people learning I thought I d pass on some tips from my 10 years of experience playing

11 Oct. 2016 The Puzzle of Dreams
The mysterious, magical world of thoughts can be interesting to try to untangle. The mind s
subconscious is strange, enigmatic, and perplexing. It creates beautiful but also frightening realms of
fantasy; dreams. For decades, scientists have been attempting to discover all the intricate details that
pertain to dreams and their meaning. Dreaming is composed of many different aspects. Anything and
everything has to be taken into consideration when analyzing dreams. This is because almost anything
can affect a dream. No one quite understands it to a full extent, however, scientists continue to study
dreams and research what affects them. There is much depth about the way life influences dreams.

One way to have revieve good, quality sleep is to have a sleep routine. A tactic some use to ensure
interrupted sleep is having a constant background noise. For example, soothing noises often times
create a peaceful atmosphere during times of rest. White noises and pink noises are a great way to
calm the body down each night ( White, Pink, or Brown: Which Noise Helps You Sleep Better? ).
Some people enjoy pink noise; this could sound like pouring rain or a waterfall. Others prefer white
noise, ie. a fan blowing. A writer, Jessica Gross said in her article that when the body shuts down at
night, hearing is still active ( 6 Things That Influence Your Dreams ). At certain times, a sound can be
incorporated into a dream. This is not a common occurrence; however, for this to happen, the sound
must be adequate volume, so it will not interrupt the phase of sleep ( White, Pink, or Brown: Which
Noise Helps You Sleep Better? ). Normally, a sleeping body will not wake when its other four senses

Danimal in South Africa Case Study Assignment
MEGHAL SHAH
7/20/2012
Why Danone developed Danimal yogurt for the South African market
South Africa had a big income inequality gap with its market being at the bottom of the pyramid with
more than half of the population in the 4 5 tier range having less than $1500 in purchasing power
parity in US dollars. Danone wanted to capture the market by introducing a low priced product to the
low income people. With research by local Universities and the SA Medical Research Council, the
benefits of of Danimal were promising. It was found that the probiotic cultures in yoghurt were
beneficial for children and also that a product needed to be produced ... Show more content on

Is Danone successful in addressing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid? What can they do better?
Pretorious had the 4P s in mind when product was developed. The price was initially set at R1.00 in
2005. This was beneficial since the transaction would require one coin interaction which made it
simple and valuable for the targeted children s market. To avoid additional margins added onto the
final price, the price was printed on the lid. Danone themselves just broke even with no profits.
To address nutritional shortcomings in the typical diet of a child from a poor family especially vitamin
A, iron and zinc the company wanted to enrich the yoghurt with these nutrients. The yoghurt also
needed an extended long shelf life due to lack of electricity and fridges.
Danone promoted their product, by associating the name Danimal . Danimal was combination of
Danone and animal , which gave a sense of pride in Africa. A colorful energetic leopard as the logo
appealed to children, while the nutritional facts appealed to the adults.
They created a product for the bottom of the pyramid that was initially introduced into the Gauteng
province but later expanded into two other provinces, Kwazulu Natal and the Free State.
I think that Danone did a great job by providing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid. They spent
little money and used existing equipment with no marketing. They made a product that was

Henry David Thoreau s Letter From The Birmingham Jail
In Henry David Thoreau s Resistance to Civil Government he wrote a letter which became an
academic lecture. This lecture was about his objection to paying the poll tax because of the
government s involvement in slavery and the Mexican war. For refusing to pay the poll tax, he had to
spend a night in jail. Martin Luther King wrote A Letter from the Birmingham Jail when he spent
eleven days there charged with demonstrating without a permit. He wrote his open letter in response to
criticism from clergy who criticized his protest methods. The two letters are the same because they are
both written in support of civil disobedience when it comes to bad actions by the state. Differences in
the letters concern their call to action, and the tone of urgency. Both Thoreau and King believed that
individuals should follow their conscience when they believe the state does unethical acts. Thoreau
protested the Mexican War and Slavery in the United States. King protested Jim Crow laws in the
south that were part of segregation and discrimination against blacks. Similarly, both men also spent ...

Respiratory Exchange Ratio Analysis
At rest our body s energy expenditure results from our basal metabolic rate (sleeping metabolic rate)
and our arousal (wakefulness). At the onset of exercise, VO2 cannot initially support or new metabolic
demands at sub maximal level, so an oxygen deficit is created and must be compensated by our
anaerobic metabolic systems. As exercise continues, for about 3 5 minutes, our aerobic system syncs
in and supplements VO2, and a steady state is achieved. Heart rate increases as exercise increases in
order to support an increase in VO2 and the metabolic demands required to pump more blood; this
represents and linear relationship. Heart rate and VO2 are also linearly related, as the maintenance of a
steady state during exercise is largely dependent on the heart s ability to stimulate the metabolic
activities that result in increased ventilation and a subsequent increase in VO2. ... Show more content

This ratio is measured at the tissue level of the mouth or nose, and can be used to estimate RQ.
Respiratory quotient (RQ): is the proportion of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced, in relation the amount
of oxygen consumed by the body, at the cellular level, during exercise. We need to wait until exercise
reaches a steady state before we can use RER to estimate RQ because RER can be used to calculate
the number and type of calories being released when a liter of oxygen is used; and at low levels more
fat is consumed, while at higher intensities carbohydrates are consumed. Waiting for a steady state to
be achieved ensures us the proper estimation of the type of calorie being

Themes In Rocket Boys By Homer H. Hickam Jr
A theme is the underlying meaning or essence in a work of literature. In the memoir, Rocket Boys,
Homer H. Hickam Jr. masterfully places themes throughout the story to arrange the structure and
development of the novel. These themes are carried out through the conversations of the main
characters: Sonny, Homer Sr., Elsie, Sherman, Jim, Quentin, O Dell, and Roy Lee. These main
characters are profoundly influenced by the themes of the memoir; these themes shape their lives
according to how each character uniquely views them. A few dominant themes in Rocket Boys are

Although Sonny and Jim are not in a definite fight with each other, they are far from friends and find
hilarity in irritating each other.
In Rocket Boys, Sonny illustrates the internal and external conflicts between the individual and the
group. This can be seen when Sonny is greeted by Pooky, his prime antagonist, and is criticized for his
blown up rocket. When Pooky and his friends confront Sonny, they mock him saying, You gonna build
another rocket? asked Tom Tickle, one of the single miners who lived in the Club House. Tom was
friendly. Yes, sir, I am, I said. Well, attaboy! the step group chorused. Shee it. All he can do is build a

Buck, but kind and supportive people like Elsie and Tom Tickle. Sonny is called a rocket boy a
nickname that is intended to be an insult but becomes the opposite as it comes to represent him in a
positive way. The news of Sonny s actions spread throughout Coalwood like a wildfire. The people of
Coalwood become quick to judge and resort to teasing Sonny. It feels as if they can sense Sonny is
trying to break away from Coalwood and they want to pressure him into staying.
In addition, the theme of dreams and ambition are prevalent throughout the novel. Maybe one day we
ll have a trophy in here, Sonny, for our rockets. Are you kidding? Absolutely not. Every spring,

Rhetorical Analysis on ADHD in Children

of ADHD. It provided several statistics amongst the boys and girls that have ADHD. It also provided
percentages and rates of how many children are diagnosed with the disorder. It revealed that
statistically proven boys are more likely to become diagnosed with the disorder than females are. This
site also provided statistics ad ratings of the different treatments that children are taking and how
many American children received treatment for the disorder in 2011. There was also a percentage
representing the children that may have been diagnosed with the disorder but are not receiving any
type of treatment for it. There are also facts supporting that parents that may have been diagnosed with
the disorder are more likely to reproduce children that suffer from the same disorder opposed to
parents who have not been diagnosed or exhibited any behaviors or symptoms of ADHD. It is also
quoted that children that have been diagnosed with the disorder may form a issue with maintaining
any relationships or friendships amongst their peers. There was also a percentage that supported the
fact that the children that suffer from the disorder of ADHD have a higher rate or major injuries and
hospital visits compared to the average child. There is also a high economic cost to care and treat
children that suffer from this disorder.

In his nonfiction text, The Great Influenza, John M. Barry explains that scientific research is an
uncertain process. Barry supports this explanation by using rhetorical strategies such as repetition and
a metaphor. Barry s purpose is to prove scientific research is a confident process that allows one to be
courageous on the side of uncertainty. Barry uses formal tone with his audience that goes beyond
researchers. Barry opens his nonfiction text by emphasizing that certainty is a confident resilience
while uncertainty produces frailty, but in a way that sends out opposite outcomes. He enhances this
purpose by constantly using repetition with the word uncertainty to amplify how scientific research is
an uncertain apparatus. By way of illustration,

Queen Cecily s Leadership Style
A high stone ceiling etched with fine silver filagree arched above the cavernous throne room. Below
this, dark marble floors were polished until their inky surfaces shone like glass. The walls were
intersected by evenly spaced archways leading to doorways which, in turn, led to various other parts
of the castle. A carpet of bloodred velvet stretched the length of the hall, leading from the massive,
ebony doors at one end to the high backed throne at the other end. The person sitting in this throne,
however, looked out of place. One would expect a regal figure with striking features, perhaps

are the main reasons that contribute to Apple Company dominance in the market with respect to new

Another force, which is the threats of rivals doesn t affect Apple much and Apple Company is not too
concerned about these threats. When Apple first introduced the IPod and Iphone products, their
company rose to the top of the market immediately and it made them the top leader of the mobile

Apple Company has created a strong brand name which represents quality and classy products. The
brand has also built up customer loyalty throughout these years and they gained a lot of trust from

Summary Of To A Louse By Robert Burns
Robert Burns wrote the poem To a Louse in 1786, in Scotland, that emphasizes the social constructs of
man and as well as man s vanity. Burns then goes on in further detail to explain the artificial concept
of social class and perspective of the individual in society. He does this by describing one day sitting
in church where he is behind gorgeous young noble woman while a louse is crawling upon her silken
bonnet. The lady is completely oblivious to the fact that the louse is upon her bonnet while everyone
sitting in the pews nearby point and wink with one another at the appearance of the louse. Through
this ridiculous and humorous poem Burns is highlighting the vanity of human nature and the artificial
construct of social class through his own eyes that he is seeing in eighteenth century Scotland. In the
poem, the reader finds Burns sitting in his pew in church where he notices a louse, a small wingless
insect sometimes called lice or fleas, crawling upon the bonnet of a young and elegant lady in the seat
in front of him. At this point in the poem Burns is surprised that the louse would dare set his feet upon
such a fine lady rather than that of a beggar or vagabond in the streets, where a louse would normally
be found. Here Burns then goes on to describe the louse as Detested, shunn d, by saunt (saint) an
sinner and more usually associated with the likes of the lower class, such as beggars and slaves, and
not the upper class from which the lady is from, according to The Bard: Robert Burns, a Biography by
Robert Crawford. Burns then begins to admire the bravado and courage of the louse as he makes the
trek up the noble lady s bonnet. Where Burns then turns his attention to the elegant lady whom he
calls Jenny. Which he then tells her not to shake her head in an air of pride as she is completely
unaware of the humorous effect that the sight of the louse has upon all of the people nearby. As Burns
watches those around him take notice of this spectacle in front of him he wishes that the supreme
power of God would give us the ability to see ourselves as others see us. Thus, riding ourselves of our
pride, vanity, and misconceptions in one another created by the human construct of class in society

When comparing the Inventory Turnover, Toyota is outstanding in its performance just as known to
be. BMW had the second highest inventory turnover in 2009, which has improved continuously
throughout the measured time (worst in 2004). For Daimler and Volkswagen the trend is instead
negative.

Carp Fishing Tips
Whats the alternative to lead weights?
In this article I would like to talk about some different ways of getting more out of your carp fishing.
Recently I have started to do a few things differently and I think it is making a difference.
Firstly the length of hooklink. Over the last few years articles have talked about using shorter
hooklinks but I don t see many people using them, I m talking about very short 21/2 3inches. I reckon
some anglers are not keen on this because your bait is sitting very close to the lead, but your bait is not
always the length of your hooklink away from the bait anyway, lots of times when you ve cast the bait
follows the lead down and could be sitting right next to the lead unless when you tighten up you move
the lead! If you don t like your bait very close to the lead why is that?, is it because you think carp can
recognise danger when they see the lead! I reckon on well fished waters carp are cautious of leads that
s why I ve starting using the Stonze . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the anglers fished the same lake and used the Stonze system with the very short hooklinks and
used the method with Pallatrax boilies. Over 48 hours 984lb of carp were caught plus tench and roach.
Images curtesy of Brian Atkins 2003
I noticed that directly you cast out you would get small fish attacking the method and would get
bleeps and knocks until the bigger fish moved in and you would get a run. If we had all used 3oz leads
and 10 inch hooklinks I m convinced we wouldn t have caught so many fish. If you use long
hooklinks carp can pick up your bait and move twice the distance of your hooklink before they tighten
to the lead.

Courtney Hunt s Frozen River, And Edwidge Danticat s The...
Sonder is an infrequently used noun defined as the realization that each random passerby is living a
life as vivid and complex as your own populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries
and inherited craziness . It s a difficult and complicated term to use, as most people have differing
interpretations of it; in my opinion, when you gain sonder you gain perspective and empathy into the
lives of everyone around you, and learn what makes them the way they are. Everyone has this moment
of realization at some point in their life, but few people ever give sonder any real thought beyond that
moment. However, some authors embrace the idea of sonder, writing their novels so as to focus on
how sonder impacts people s perspective on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The strongest example of this occurs when she writes a note to a police officer, successfully opening
his mind to other perspectives, and thus the idea of sonder. We are to blame for this destruction, we
who don t speak your tongue and don t know how to keep quiet either. We who didn t come by boat,
who dirty up your doorsteps with our dust, who break your barbed wire. We who came to take your
jobs, who dream of wiping your shit, who long to work all hours. We who fill your shiny clean streets
with the smell of food, who brought you violence you d never known, who deliver your dope, who
deserve to be chained by neck and feet. We who are happy to die for you, what else could we do? We,
the ones who are waiting for who knows what. We, the dark, the short, the greasy, the shifty, the fat,
the anemic. We the barbarians. (Herrera, 99 100) It s not seeing their lives or hearing their stories, but
instead a simple note from a Mexican woman that reminds him that these people he arrested are actual
people with actual reasons for crossing into America. Although the note helps to change the cop s
opinion regarding immigrants enough to let them go free, what I feel clinches the cop s decision is the
fact that Makina is the note s author. The officer probably didn t expect the young Mexican woman to
be literate, let alone a poet, as the reader can tell from the officer s disconcerted expression as she is
writing. There are a few

The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks By Rebecca Skloot
Thievery from voracious doctors. Discrimination from a segregated society. Suffering for the
remainder of her life. Each of these obstacles like a bombshell, altering the life of a poor black woman
named Henrietta Lacks. In the New York Times bestseller novel The Immortal Life of Henrietta
Lacks, author Rebecca Skloot reveals the untold and often unknown story behind the woman whose
cells helped create some of the most profound contributions in medical history. Born and raised in
Virginia in 1920, Lacks was a typical black southerner, growing up impoverished and recovering from
the aftermath of a previous generation of slavery. It wasn t until later in her adulthood when she was
diagnosed with a severe case of cervical cancer, which rapidly deteriorated her body as doctors
applied intensive doses of radium treatments. Before she passed away in 1951, doctors removed a
sample of her tumor from her body without her or her family s knowledge or permission. This tumor
sample was crucial to the progression of medical advancements, for the cancerous cells never died in
various mediums and became the first immortal human cells in history. Scientists were eager to
experiment with the notorious HeLa cells. Doctors made millions selling HeLa by the vial. The Lacks
family was uninformed for 25 years about Henrietta s legendary cells, leaving them flummoxed,
devastated, and outraged. One of the most pressing incidents in medical history has left the world to
question concerns regarding

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Analysis
Introduction
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a collection of conditions that affect the cognitive, physical, and
motor development and abilities of children. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is caused by a teratogen, such as
alcohol or illicit drugs, crossing through the mother s blood to the developing fetus (Center for
Disease Control [CDC], 201 6). Depending on the amount of the toxin consumed and the period of the
pregnancy, FAS has a wide degrees of severity and therefore is considered a spectrum disorder (Plante
Beeson, 2013).

  • 2. Examples Of Tension In An Inspector Calls Pick out three key moments in the first two acts of An Inspector Calls and analyze how Priestly controls tension and suspense. In An Inspector Calls Priestley manipulates tension and suspense to give us insight on his political and social views (eg. the class system). He builds up tension and suspense during the course of the acts ending with a cliffhanger, leaving the audience curious and guessing as to what would happen next. For example, the Inspector s entrance where Priestley creates tension by using lighting. The lighting initially pink and intimate , possibly conveying the idea of the Birlings and Gerald looking at life through rose tinted glasses. They are shown to be idealistic near the start of the play, ignoring the cracks in Gerald and Sheila s relationship ( except for all last summer, when you never came near me ) but the light becomes harsh right before the Inspector enters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before this, she is shown as a docile submissive girl ( I m sorry, Daddy ) and the change would come across as a great shock to the audience. Sheila interrupts Gerald when he says Now listen darling which makes the audience understand the gravity of the situation. Sheila s argumentative tone which is juxtaposed with Gerald s silence ( He does not reply ) builds an ominous mood and elevates Sheila s anger. The argument ends before we are given substantial information, leaving us with incomplete information and wanting to know more. The stage direction of The door slowly opens , a metaphor for the Inspector slowly exposing each piece of the information increases the levels of suspense in the room leaving the audience to think about what has just happened. The Well? by the Inspector is short and simple, a contrast to the argument between Gerald and Sheila. The rhetorical question the Inspector asks is what Priestley wants the audience to think as well as the act ends with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emperor Nero did the first heinous persecution of Christians. In one of movies The redemption of Peter shows few glimpses of this persecution. Families with children, women and old parents were sent to the unbelievable torture containing loud and painful screams as being Christians, were heard being tortured but they did not deny their faith. The Emperor says he wants to burn Christians, so he can have light for his garden; Emperor s wife says, Kill them all! . In one of the prison s scene, soldier shares his concern with another soldier while guarding prison that poor children did nothing wrong but are suffering with their parents. Children were humiliated with their families. (P162 Macculcah): In third century, Perpetua (martyr) embraced Christianity. She knew the result of it, will be death. Her father did his best not to declare herself as Christian for the sake of his grey hair, for her son, brother and family. She asked her father, do you see the vase, or whatever you want to call it, can you call it by another name than what it is? He said, No, you can t. So, I cannot call myself anything other what I am a Christian. She disobeyed her father. Her concern for her brother for whom she prayed in vision, her attachment for her son and family was remarkable. She had a hard choice to be a martyr or a good mother. Sam Houston led his troops to San Felipe de Austin on March 28. By March 30, they were by the Brazos River, where they would camp out and practice drill over the night. At this time Santa Anna had control of the Texas coast and sea ports. Santa Anna crossed the Brazos River and Richmond on April 11 and on April 15, with about 700 men, arrived at Harrisburg. He would then began to start burning down Harrisburg and go looking for the Texas government, but when he arrived at morgens point the movement had fled to Galveston. • 5. The Human Skin Your skin is the body s first defense mechanism. A barrier against pathogens and water loss, the human epidermis undergoes a constant renewal process called cornification, as old dead skin cells, corneocytes, are shed and replaced by cells from the layers below to maintain constant protection. A defect in the skin barrier could develop various skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis. The most common form of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin condition characterized by inflammation and itchy, dry patches of skin. Although no cause has been determined, researchers focus on studying genetic abnormalities and influences on a defective epidermal barrier (Sajic, Asiniwasis, Skotnicki Grant, 2012). Mutations in the filaggrin gene, with environmental factors that further damage the skin s protective barrier, are one of many aspects contributing to the cracked skin and inflammation of atopic dermatitis. Filaggrin is an important protein in cornification that contributes to the strength and moisture of the stratum corneum, or topmost layer of the skin, through formation of the cornified envelope and maintenance of the natural moisturizing factor. The precursor to filaggrin is profilaggrin, a protein in keratohyalin F granules at the granular epidermal layer. As the granular cells transition to the stratum corneum during cornification, serine activated proteases proteotypically cleave profilaggrin into filaggrin peptides (McLean Irvine, 2012). The filaggrin then binds to and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Commodification In Football Football, America s sport, which is loved from high school all the way to professional level of the game, has evolved significantly over the years to becoming as big of an entertainment spectacle as it has as well as becoming increasingly competitive over the years that it has been in session. With the very first football game being played between Rutgers and Princeton to Peyton Manning making a touchdown pass that was recognized by the World Record Association in the game against the 49ers, a spectator can tell the difference between not only skill and the technical aspects of the game, but between the love for the game itself. It has had a lot of positive effects on how it has evolved throughout the years. It has created a lot of job opportunities for many people, as well as given chances to people to be remotely involved and engaged with fantasy football. However, along with these pros comes a few cons. Even though fantasy football has its positives to it, it also has its negatives. When people get too into it, they start betting on it and start to not care about the players that are involved. This leads to the next point that players have started to form a mentality of no pain, no gain . They play through pain and injuries, whether it be for fans wanting their favorite teams and players to do well or that their love of the game has gone too far to a point that they do not care how bad their damaging their bodies. The commodification overall has had a good impact with some downsides to it. Three important causes that led to the victory of the North are economic growth, secession, and the election of President Abraham Lincoln. Three important effects that followed the victory of the Northern States in the American Civil War are emancipation, a new financial system, and political freedom. The Civil War of America has been discussed as the first modern war of the new industrial age. Then they chose Jefferson Davis from the state of Mississippi to be their president. The first effect of the North s victory over the South is emancipation. Even though slaves were technically freed through contraband , Lincoln continued to persist that this fights intent is to save the Union, not to free the slaves. But, before eighteen sixty two, Lincoln considered emancipation as being the next step necessary to win the war. On July twenty second eighteen sixty two, Lincoln unveiled a draft of the Emancipation Proclamation to his cabinet. It proposed emancipation of all slaves in rebel areas on January 1st, eighteen sixty three. The Secretary of State William H. Seward agreed with Lincoln s initial draft, but he warned President Lincoln to wait till the Union had won a major victory before introducing the proclamation to the public. In eighteen sixty two President Lincoln got his opportunity to do so, when the Union was victorious in the Battle of Antietam. Analysis of The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost Essay Thesis Robert Frosts The Road Not Taken is more symbolic of a choice one must make in their life in attempt to foresee the outcome before reaching the end, than it is about choosing the right path in the woods. Use of this description could be that fall is upon the wood or the trees perhaps once white have yellowed with age. Before the traveler is a road split into two different directions, he has no idea where each road leads. When one decides to follow God a divided path becomes the focus of our lives, do we continue down the path we have been on our whole lives, and is well known but will surely lead to death? On the other hand, do we choose the path God would have us take not only changing our lives, but in the end instead of an eternity spent in the cold grip of death, we find eternal life? Why does the title emphasize the road not taken? The emphasis on the road not taken is Frost s way of making us think as we read this poem that no matter which way the speaker chose to go a road would always stay not taken. The speaker intended to complete his journey on the chosen path, then at another time go back, and take the other direction. What are the rhythm patterns that Frost uses in the poem (include the scansion and technical methods: alliteration, assonance, and consonance)? Frost uses both masculine rhyme and end rhyme. The masculine rhyme is the rhyming sounds that contain only one syllable such as wood, stood, and should. The end rhyme pattern that Frost uses is, A, B, A, A, B C, D, C, C, D E, F, E, E, F and G, H, G, G, H. (Arp Johnson, 2009). At the onset of exercise, VO2 cannot initially support or new metabolic demands at sub maximal level, so an oxygen deficit is created and must be compensated by our anaerobic metabolic systems. As exercise continues, for about 3 5 minutes, our aerobic system syncs in and supplements VO2, and a steady state is achieved. Heart rate increases as exercise increases in order to support an increase in VO2 and the metabolic demands required to pump more blood; this represents and linear relationship. In Rocket Boys, Sonny illustrates the internal and external conflicts between the individual and the group. This can be seen when Sonny is greeted by Pooky, his prime antagonist, and is criticized for his blown up rocket. When Pooky and his friends confront Sonny, they mock him saying, You gonna build another rocket? asked Tom Tickle, one of the single miners who lived in the Club House. Tom was friendly. • 39. Summary Of To A Louse By Robert Burns Robert Burns wrote the poem To a Louse in 1786, in Scotland, that emphasizes the social constructs of man and as well as man s vanity. Burns then goes on in further detail to explain the artificial concept of social class and perspective of the individual in society. He does this by describing one day sitting in church where he is behind gorgeous young noble woman while a louse is crawling upon her silken bonnet. The lady is completely oblivious to the fact that the louse is upon her bonnet while everyone sitting in the pews nearby point and wink with one another at the appearance of the louse. Through this ridiculous and humorous poem Burns is highlighting the vanity of human nature and the artificial construct of social class through his own eyes that he is seeing in eighteenth century Scotland. In the poem, the reader finds Burns sitting in his pew in church where he notices a louse, a small wingless insect sometimes called lice or fleas, crawling upon the bonnet of a young and elegant lady in the seat in front of him. At this point in the poem Burns is surprised that the louse would dare set his feet upon such a fine lady rather than that of a beggar or vagabond in the streets, where a louse would normally be found. Here Burns then goes on to describe the louse as Detested, shunn d, by saunt (saint) an sinner and more usually associated with the likes of the lower class, such as beggars and slaves, and not the upper class from which the lady is from, according to The Bard: Robert Burns, a Biography by Robert Crawford. Burns then begins to admire the bravado and courage of the louse as he makes the trek up the noble lady s bonnet. Where Burns then turns his attention to the elegant lady whom he calls Jenny. Which he then tells her not to shake her head in an air of pride as she is completely unaware of the humorous effect that the sight of the louse has upon all of the people nearby. As Burns watches those around him take notice of this spectacle in front of him he wishes that the supreme power of God would give us the ability to see ourselves as others see us. Thus, riding ourselves of our pride, vanity, and misconceptions in one another created by the human construct of class in society and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Carp Fishing Tips Whats the alternative to lead weights? In this article I would like to talk about some different ways of getting more out of your carp fishing. Recently I have started to do a few things differently and I think it is making a difference. Firstly the length of hooklink. Over the last few years articles have talked about using shorter hooklinks but I don t see many people using them, I m talking about very short 21/2 3inches. I reckon some anglers are not keen on this because your bait is sitting very close to the lead, but your bait is not always the length of your hooklink away from the bait anyway, lots of times when you ve cast the bait follows the lead down and could be sitting right next to the lead unless when you tighten up you move the lead! If you don t like your bait very close to the lead why is that?, is it because you think carp can recognise danger when they see the lead!
