Hair Band Research Paper
In the 1980s there was a certain type of genre that rocked America, it was known as hair bands. Def
Leppard, Whitesnake, Poison, and Warrant and many others were all hair bands, but what was the
story behind the hair? There is a lot of debate over who is a hair band and who is not. For example,
Guns N Roses is commonly debated over whether they are a hair band or not. Normally a hair band
consists of a lead singer, a guitarist(s), a drummer, a bassist, a wild hair style, some make up, and
flamboyant clothes. There weren t as many hair bands as you would think, there was about 20 main
hair bands. Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Warrant, Poison, Cinderella, Van Halen, Britny Fox, Ratt,

There is never really a definite answer to who really created rock n roll. It wasn t Elvis, and it wasn t
Chuck Berry. Its widely believed that the first rock n roll single was Rocket 88 by Jackie Brenston.
Most people think that rock n roll started from The Blues, but Larry Birnbaum says that it comes from
Rhythm Blues. It eventually evolved into the typical rock sounds of the 50s and 60s that we know, like
Chuck Berry s Johnny B. Goode and Elvis Presley s Jailhouse Rock. That eventually led to bands
from the 70s and early 80s like The New York Dolls and Led Zeppelin which were more of Glam
Rock. Hair metal was influenced from the glam rock of the 70s. Glam Rock was basically a step down
from Hair Bands. They wore more feminine clothes, like heels and pantyhose. Hair Bands didn t
exactly wear heels and pantyhose, but they adopted the look of wearing makeup, the strange clothes,
and most importantly the hair. Quiet Riots Metal Health album was the first Hair Metal album to reach
number 1 on The Billboard charts. That made way for the rest of the genre and caused its rise to fame.
The television program MTV also helped with the genre and the show rise to fame quickly. MTV was
a music television program that played the music videos of 80s

Sleep Apnea Theory
Epidemiology: Obstructive sleep apnea is becoming more prevalent in adults and children in our
society. Obstructive sleep apnea is undiagnosed mostly in women being 92% and 80% in men. The
estimated prevalence in women is 2% and in men is 4%. A study was done by the University of
Pennsylvania revealing that the prevalence in women was 4% and 9% for men. Another study called
The Wisconsin Cohrt study showed that people who are 30 to 60 years old, the prevalence is 9 24%
for men and 4 9% for women. Although Obstructive sleep apnea is less certain in children, in the
recent years they have seen an increase of cases of children who have sleep apnea. This is due to the
fact of children being obese or to their counterparts. Although there has been an increase of cases this
might be an effect of being sleepy or hyperactive. Nonetheless as a result of a recent study in 2007
they have concluded that 6% of children who are teenagers. There was a done by The California

Apnea, but also are less likely to get diagnosed early in the disease process. It has been proven that the
rates of survival are lower for women due to the fact of they get the diagnosis too late. Studies also
show that women have a higher prevalence to get Obstructive Sleep Apnea after Menopause.

Comparison Of Chicago, New York City And Detroit
Chicago, New York City, and Detroit
Today, Detroit, New York City and Chicago have many similarities They re highly populated cities
with high crime rates, many homeless people, noisy streets and terrible traffic. In contrast, they attract
many tourists with their tall skyscrapers, and their famous attractions. As well as similarities, there s
also, many differences. Today, Chicago and New York City are known for having many job
opportunities and luring people in with promising careers. Whereas in Detroit, it s known to be quite
hard to find employment. These cities have gone on a long journey to get to where they re at today. I ll
be discussing Detroit s history from around 1880 to 1910 and comparing it to the way Chicago and
New York City was in the book, Sister Carrie written by Theodore Dreiser.
From 1880 to 1910 Detroit changed dramatically. The city was under development and was on its way
to becoming a successful, and higher populated, city. According to Detroit Historical Society, in 1880
Detroit s population consisted of over 100,000 citizens. At this time, Detroit also had a diverse
community of many different nationalities and it was known as an immigrant city.
Detroit Historical Society also states that by 1890, Detroit s population nearly doubled reaching over
200,000. Detroit, at this time, made its ranking in the 15th largest populated city in the nation. Many
people of different backgrounds from around the world came to settle here. By 1901,

Information Technology In The 21st Century
Information Technology is a developing technology that aims at obtaining the maximum information
with minimum of resources, labour or time. According to the dictionary, Information Technology is
the study or use of electronic equipment especially computers, for storing, analysing and distribution
of information of all kinds, including words, numbers and pictures.
Ever since the appearance of Man on the earth, information has been the major cause of his progress
and development. But information alone is not enough. Information has to be processed, put to use by
logic and reason before it becomes useful knowledge.
Information Technology includes and encompasses within itself the whole technological, social and
cultural phenomena that promise an excellent future for mankind. The 21st century is a century of
Information Technology. Just as steam engine emerged to be the technology of the 19th century and
computer technology enhanced the capacity of human brain in the 20th century, Information
Technology is the in thing in the 21 century.
The technological progress during the past sixty years has brought about an explosion in knowledge.
Today we have super computers imitating the human brain and even beating it in various fields like
fast data processing,
This wonder machine called computer has revolutionised life in a big way. With its excellent memory,

Who I Am I
Many obstacles in my life have made me who I am today. I was raised in West Portsmouth, Ohio, a
small town built off football and family. Life in a small town seems to go by very slowly. It s all about
what you make out of it. Certain events and certain people have influenced me in a way that has made
me a better person. The character of one s self is built from all the hard times we go through in life,
not always off of the easy ones.
My father has had a major influence on me during the course of my life, thus far. My dad was in the
Marine Corps before I was born. He was always strict with me with every aspect of my life and has
always pushed me to be a better person. Growing up, I would see him get up early and come home
late from work. He is a very hard working man and I hope I develop at least half of his working
abilities. He has taught me the majority of what I know now. He is a very smart man and it s great to
have a role model like that as my father.
My mother always played a more studious role in my life. She graduated from Shawnee State
University with a degree in nursing. She is a very smart woman and has always pushed me to get good
grades and go to college. I could honestly say that I wouldn t have received half the good grades as I
did if it wasn t for her always checking up and being there for me with my schooling. She s always
had a job as well and she strives to make me a better person religiously and mentally day by day. The
motivation she brings to me

Sexual Cannibalism And Sex Cannibalism
In many Arthropoda (Arthropods), sexual cannibalism is quite common. Female Mantodeas
(Mantids), commonly referred to as Mantis from their genus, have been known to decapitate their
male counterparts before, during or even after sexual copulation. Sexual cannibalism varies widely
amongst the species of Mantids, where some species lack this behavior all together. Males often take
part in ritualistic dances to court a female and are very cautious of their proximity before attempting to
mount. Although sexual cannibalism does not occur constantly, one could hypothesize that female
sexual cannibalism is a foraging strategy that results in an increase of fecundity from the nutritional
gain of consuming males. Female mantids who participate in sexual cannibalism should be more fit,
thus contributing to the quality and quantity of her offspring. An increase in sexual cannibalism should
occur when there is low food and resource availability. With gathered research I was able to evaluate
the validity of my hypotheses. The phenomenon of sexual cannibalism in this perspective held some
truth, yet produced repulsions amongst several others.
Introduction
Sexual dimorphism, favoring larger sized females, initially offered a theory as to why females
exhibited cannibalistic behavior. Sexual cannibalism is where a counterpart eats his/hers potential
sexual partner prior, during or after copulation. This is typically seen in female arthropods. It was once
thought that females who

My operations management coursework was based on the ECCO A/S Global Value Chain
Management case study which is an interesting paper on ECCO A/S (ECCO) who have been very
successful in the footwear industry by focusing on production technology and assuring quality by
maintaining full control of the entire value chain from cow to shoe. .

If operations were outsourced, they would not be able to oversee all aspects of production and insure
that quality was high.
Vertical Value Chain Benefits
Hosting your own in house vertical value chain has many benefits for a business like ECCO. ECCO s
many facilities in different countries can take advantage of local resources and expertise in different
areas like the leather research center in Denmark. Another benefit is being able to oversee operations
and produce products faster. Inventory can be controlled efficiently, meaning that ECCO can wait
longer to produce items to match market mean due to how long it would take to place an order with an
outsourced manufacturer and to receive that order to deliver to customers.
Vertical Value Chain Cons
The main negative for ECCO in having an integrated vertical value chain is increased costs over
competitors. For most shoe companies, the cheapest option is to outsource manufacturing, which is
what most of ECCO s competitors have done. Another con of keeping production within the company
is that when no competition is present, often production is slow and inefficient. Managing the cons is
vital for ECCO, which they have been able to do.
Economic Strategic Factors Considered with Integrated Value Chain
Economic factors that are faced with an integrated value chain include high labor costs. If producing

Social Anxiety Disorder ( Sad )
Social Anxiety Disorder Affecting One s Life Social anxiety disorder (SAD), also known as social
phobia, is the most common mental illness in the United States. About 40 million people suffer from
this mental disorder. Many tend to confuse this disorder with shyness and nervousness, which are not
considered a part of the phobia. Having a SAD can interfere with one s daily life cycle. People who
have SAD often starts to develop this illness during their childhood and adolescence years. Patients
are affected with this mental illness for many years before being diagnosed. Past experiences in a
person s childhood can form and shape their lives so that they may end up having social anxiety
disorder. Some past experiences like bullying, depression and low self esteem can lead to the fear of
socially interacting or communicating with other people. There are many cases of bullying that cause
people to grow this disorder. Bullying is one of the main causes of Social Anxiety Disorder. The
different types of bullying all have a different effect in the disorder, such as verbal, cyber, and physical
bullying all have different causes. Verbal bullying can cause people to start to think wrongly of
themselves. They also start to believe that the things that the people are saying could possibly be true.
This intertwines with the cyber portion of the bullying. Cyber bullying also causes people to think that
the things people are electronically saying are true. Also, just as verbal bullying,

severely abnormal functions, disturbed behaviors and the likelihood to seriously diminish nearly all
functionality of life this disorder is known as schizophrenia. While extremely rare, schizophrenia can
develop in childhood, sometimes as young as two to four years. This is referred to as childhood onset
schizophrenia (COS). Childhood onset schizophrenia is a severe form of psychotic disorder that
occurs at age 12 years or younger and is often chronic and persistently debilitating (DSM 5). By a vast
number of psychologists and other medical professionals, it is believed to be just as virulent and
malicious as adolescent and adult schizophrenia. The DSM 5 criteria for child onset schizophrenia
requires at least two of the following five symptoms to be present for no less than a month, and at least
one of these must be (1), (2), or (3): (1) delusions, (2) hallucinations, (3) disorganized speech, (4)
grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior, and (5) negative symptoms. Other criteria must include: a
significantly lower level of functioning in other areas, such as work, interpersonal relations or self

Comparing Buddhism, Hinduism And Jainism, Buddhism And...
In our present day, there are roughly 4,200 religions being practiced all over the world. Some are more
popular and well known than others, with a few of the main world religions being Christianity,
Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. With each religion, one can be slightly similar to one and
completely opposite in beliefs to another; this is seen in the idea of the afterlife, in which Buddhism
focuses on the idea of rebirth and awakening, whereas Hinduism and Jainism both believe in the idea
of reincarnation until liberation. Buddhism is seen as a way of life rather than a form of religion that
needs to be closely followed and constantly practiced. The idea of enlightenment carries through one s
entire lifetime in an attempt to reach nirvana, which is an end to all suffering. A person s lifetime is
spent being faithful and relying on karma to eventually achieve nirvana and enlightenment, in which
people embark on the path of awakening. The awakening is a very crucial aspect of the Buddhist
religion, as it was Buddha s own personal awakening and understanding of how the world works, in
which he passed it on to be believed and understood by others. It s closely related to other religions in
the way that rebirth and reincarnation are the beliefs surrounding the idea of the afterlife, however
Buddhism in particular is an anatta tradition, or not self, which often sets it apart from other
religions. This complex ideal entails that one s external self, consciousness, feelings

Peter The Great s Impact On Russia With St. Petersburg
Much like Tiberius, Peter the Great had an overall auspicious impact on Russia with St. Petersburg.
During the late seventeenth century, he was a Russian czar both narcissistic and thirsty for power.
Mostly because of his reforms, Peter is known to have a positive effect on Russia, though it is
debatable. Throughout his reign and life, Peter continued struggling just to maintain power in Europe.
His reign marks a dramatic shift in the development and goal of Russia. Peter took Russia into the
European world, westernizing it, and leading him to create what is known as the the window to the
west for Russia. He did this by adopting European customs, administrative systems, architecture, and
many other ideas from Europe. He mainly focused on the navy and new technology advances Russia
could use (Whisenhunt 329). Usually overlooked, Peter the Great was also able to create St.
Petersburg, contributing to his positive effect on Russia. St. Petersburg made Russia a major European
power politically and socially, through culture and economics. However, despite his accomplishments

Judy Collins Pros And Cons
Both Sides Now was a song written by Joni Mitchell but first recorded by Judy Collins, a folk singer,
in the Album WildfFlowers, in 1967. The version created by Judy Collins was a top ten hit on the U.S.

rest of the song continues to convey the same message but uses more personal and realistic tales that

while the 1st verse used an abstract approach by mentioning clouds blocking the light. Similarly, the
3rd verse is more relatable than the 2nd verse and shows a more personal touch in which the
songwriter mentions that she used to express her emotions freely, but was critiqued by others. The

Why Hybrids Vehicles Are Better Than Gas
Why Hybrids Vehicles Are Better Than Gas Introduction Hybrid is a term used to describe a
combination of two or more distinctive things, aiming to accomplish a common objective. A hybrid
vehicle is a fuel efficient vehicle having two motors one a gasoline powered motor and the other
electric motor. The reason for combining two motors is using their strengths and reducing
deficiencies. Electric motor is used at low speed wile gas motors perform better at high speed
generating extra power for a particular motor weight. During rush hours, when vehicles are
continuously stopping and running, performance of electric motor is appreciative. Gas motor supports
higher speed supporting driving at the highways. (Anderson 134 45) Hybrid vehicles are continuously
gaining popularity in the general public. With the growing societal concerns about green revolution
and also achieving significant reduction in fuel consumption, hybrid vehicles are considered
satisfactory in performance. They have become so popular that certain tax incentives have been
offered by the government on hybrid vehicles. Due to their better performance compared with gas
powered vehicles, we present the thesis of our paper as follows: Thesis statement: it is hypothesized
that compared with the gas powered vehicles, hybrids offer more benefits in maintenance, are cost
effective, and most importantly environmental friendly. History of Hybrid Cars A steam powered

Rhetorical Analysis Of Tears We Cannot Stop By Dyson
Tears. They are almost a uniquely human experience, one that exists alongside only the most human of
emotions: elation and heartbreak. They exist as a sign of utter, almost infantile vulnerability, yet
possess the power to upheave humanity. It s no coincidence that acclaimed author Michael Eric Dyson
chose the name Tears We Cannot Stop. Such a name accurately represents the emotional tidal wave
that is his novel. Throughout the course of his sermon, Dyson works to weave moving personal
narrative with sincere tone to create an emotionally convincing piece. This essay s purpose is to
analyze Dyson s recognition and identification of his audience, his tone used to communicate his
thoughts to that audience, and his overall application of pathos in connecting with that audience. ...

Defining the audience is particularly important when discussing the effectiveness of Dyson s pathos.
Dyson effectively establishes his target audience during the call to worship at the beginning of the
text: I offer this sermon to you, my dear white friends, my beloved comrades of faith and country
(p.7). Dyson s message is, in particular, one for white Christians in America. Thus, the assumptions
Dyson makes toward his audience are a Christian ethic, an awareness of American history and current
events, and a generalized white ethnic upbringing. Dyson has essentially set his demographic, which
allows him to better focus his arguments to suit his target audience. However, now that he has done
this, he also has the responsibility to not misrepresent those to which he is

Racial Discrimination In Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar painted a picture of Jesus that was similar and different from the painting of the
gospel of Mark. For instance; in Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus is portrayed as a white man, he is
aggressive, has different colored followers and is tempted sexually by Mary. Although in the gospel of
Mark, there is no indication of Jesus being white or black, he is more aggressive, there are not any
details of his followers being different colors, and Mary was never depicted as having a sexual
relationship with Jesus. Why were these things important to the people of the perspective ages?
In Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus is portrayed as a white man. Is this because of the separation of blacks
and whites in the sixties and seventies? It easily could be, the characters around him were not all white
but he was indeed the almighty one as the white man. Now. this is not saying that the maker of this
film, Norman Jewison, was racist by any means, but that he was indeed trying to make a point of the
racial segregation of the time. Black people of the day were discriminated against and for people to
take Jesus in the movie seriously he needed to be white so that there was not an outrage among the
white people of the time. Comparatively, in the bible, there is no clear description of what Jesus
looked like. Based on the region they were in we can historically say that Jesus was a darker man.

Invitation To The Life Span Analysis
In the textbook titled Invitation to the Life Span, authored by Kathleen Berger, explains Robert
Sternberg s theory of love. Sternberg s theory has three parts which are passion, intimacy, and
commitment. When all three are present, it is perfect love and an ideal that is sometimes attained
(Berger, 2014, p.475). I agree with Sternberg s theory of love because I believe people look for these
three notions of love to share with someone because they seem to work in unison.
First, I consider passion an essential part of being in love. This is because people long to have
someone to hold and show their affection towards each other.
Secondly, intimacy is also crucial to being in love. Intimacy not only means to be physically intimate,

The Concept Of Heteronormativity Is The Belief That It Is...
The concept of heteronormativity is the belief that it is only normal natural and universal to have two
different genders. In addition to these two genders it would only be normal if there were clear and
distinct differences between the two. This would include ones biological sex, ones gender identity, and
ones gender role in society. This would also mean it would be considered normal if these two different
genders sexuality were heterosexual. Meaning a normal sexual orientation would only be between one
male and one female. Our society defines these norms through institutionalizing these concepts in our
civilization. This concept of heteronormativity is considered a basic social institution because it has

This reminded me a lot about Doing Gender because we learned that we view doing gender as an
accomplishment. This is similar to heteronormativity because in society we do gender and learn
gender based off of these heteronormativity ideals and norms . These are examples of how
heterosexuality can be viewed as normative through culture. An example of compulsory
heteronormativity or something that questions this institution structure, is Drag Queens. A drag queen
is a person, typically male, who dresses and acts with exaggerated womanliness and portrays feminine
gender roles. Drag shows have the potential to arouse powerful desires that people perceive as
contrary to their sexual identities people thinking about the boundaries of heterosexuality. (Taylor and
Rupp, p.4, 2006) This could be viewed as compulsory heteronormativity because it s almost necessary
and unavoidable in this situation to question the heteronormativity of the setting. Another example of
this is the media has been better about showing exceptions to what is considered normal for example
in shows like Modern Family and Orange is the New Black were they have main characters with
different sexual orientations, like gay and lesbian. With these clear and distinct two different genders
our society created it would also make since if we also had two different expectations and roles for
each gender. Gender roles are

Why Is The City Important In The London City

London Landmarks The city of London is filled with landmarks that bring history and culture to the
city. There are many landmarks throughout London in general, however I am focusing on three
specific ones: Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and London Eye. The Buckingham Palace and Big Ben
have a great historical background, while the London Eye is visited by tourists for leisure. All three of
these landmarks are usually considered to be in the top five landmarks of most popular in the city. For
this reason, it brings a lot of money into the city as well. Buckingham Palace was the headquarters for

however, limited only to the public by summer, very few tours in the winter months, and at Easter

My Father Of The Colonoscopy
In the year 2012, my father in law was having some pain in his side and abdomen, but because the
pain would come and go, he ignored it and blamed it on his career as a mechanic which required
strenuous manual labor. As time went on, the pain continued to worsen, but he put off any tests
because he was about to turn 50 and knew he would be going in for a checkup at that time. In 2013 he
went in for his routine colonoscopy, but we could have never prepared ourselves for how this test was
about to affect all of our lives. My father in law was nervous the day of the colonoscopy because the
pain in his stomach had worsened when he had to flush out his system before the test could be
completed. The doctors assured him that this was normal for most everybody who had to go through
this process, and they seemed very optimistic about the way the results would turn out. Once the
procedure was complete, the doctors informed us that everything had gone well, but they did find
multiple masses in his colon that they had taken samples of and had sent to pathology to have tested.
We were instructed not to worry since this could be nothing, and they would contact us as soon as they
had the results. About a week later we received the good news that his tests had come back negative,
and that he was healthy. We all went along with our lives until nine days later when my mother in law

Harrah s Entertainment, Inc. Essay
Individual Case Assignment: Harrah s Entertainment, Inc.
1. What are the objectives of the various Database marketing (DBM) programs and are they working?
There are two main overall objectives of Harrah s Database marketing (DBM) programs. First, Harrah
s strived to build, increase and retain customers loyalty to their brand, similar to the way people tend
to be loyal to their mechanic or hair dresser. The strategy to achieve this goal was to ensure that they
crafted and sustained a relationship with their customers and reinforced the emotional tie with
personalized attention and fast service. The second objective piggy backs on the first that customer
loyalty will yield incremental business and increase company revenue. ... Show more content on

2. Why is it important to use the customer worth in the DBM efforts rather than the observed level of
play?
The case study article defines customer worth as the theoretical amount the house expects to win, over
the long term, from a customer based on his level of play. This calculation allows Harrah s
management to more strategically analyze and predict a customer s future spending as opposed to
analysis of observed level of play which is only based on a customer s previous spending patterns. The
example contained in this article of Ms. Maranees best exemplifies the benefits of calculating
customer worth as opposed to an observed level of play. Ms. Maranees only played a limited amount
in a short timeframe at Harrah s, so if one were to solely judge her future habits by her observed level
of play during that trip, they likely would not feel that she was a customer worth targeting. However,
in analysis of her customer worth and theoretical wins, it was evident that Ms. Maranees was likely a
very profitable customer who was probably bringing a majority of her business to Harrah s
competition, so it would in fact be advantageous for Harrah s to win her business.
3. How does Harrah s integrate the various elements of its marketing strategy to deliver more than the
results of Database Marketing?
When Gary Loveman was hired as Harrah s COO, one of his goals was to change the focus from
bringing customers in to individual Harrah s locations

Strategies In The Cold War
The Cold War began in the years 1945 1950 between the countries of the United States and the Soviet
Union. In the Cold War consisted of many different strategies that were used to intimidate or scare the
opponent. A few of these strategies consisted of using fear, the Arms Race, and the use of Financial
Aid. This was a war fought without using harmful machinery weapons.
In the Cold War fear was a big strategy that was used to scare the other country that they are battling.
In an excerpt from the Secretary of State Marshals speech it is trying to get you to fear the outcome of
poverty. In Europe it was going to be very common to lose your job, lose your home, or even begin to
starve to death. This began to scare people which is just what they want to do so that people will feel
bad and jump in to help. In the North American Treaty it is said that armed forces will be used if it is
completely necessary. If we feel threatened or as if there is no other reasonable choice we will return
the harmful threats right back to the U.S.S.R and try to make our point see more stiff and threatening

Racial And Economic Justice Can Be Achieved Without Violence
One of the most important questions in my generation was Can racial and economic justice be
achieved without violence? That is still a relevant question in today s world as well. However, I am
here to say yes; racial and economic justice can be achieved without violence. Racial and economic
injustice occurred while I was in high religious order and we were able to stop these injustices without
violence. We held non violent protests all across South Africa and it ended up being successful for our
country. When your enemy is using the tactic of violence to stop us from voicing our opinions on
injustices, being violent right back would only cause more issues. So I firmly stand by my opinion that
racial and economic justice can be achieved without being violent. Before I begin my argument that
non violence is the only solution to these injustices, I will give a few details about my background.

Cubism And Post-Impressionism And The Movements That...
The movements that greatly influenced the sexualization of woman would be Cubism and Post
Impressionism. This theme is based on the idea that female nudity is the most popular convention that
promotes the topic of sexuality in art. As well as the idea that a lot can be said and taught about
feminism while looking at the tradition of female nudity in different artworks. The social construct of
how the different genders (male and female) are portrayed in Modern paintings is another very
complex topic that is emphasized in these two pieces. For example, women are given certain
expectations and ideas of how they should behave. One thing that is not so prominent in the theme
would be how the sexualation of woman could be less than offensive and how at this time it actually
was more based on a woman s fertility and maternity than anything. The role of gender and sexuality
in modern art is very prominent in paintings that come from Paul Cezanne and Pablo Picasso.
However, Cezanne returned to the traditional way of sexualizing nude female figures, while Picasso
put his own twist on the subject matter.
Paul Cezanne touched on this topic in his 1906 oil painting The Large Bathers. This piece influenced
many Modern Artists, especially Pablo Picasso. This life size painting is an unfinished piece that
features fourteen naked women on a riverbank. Cezanne intentionally sexualized the woman in his
painting by painting them nude, not to carry a freight of meaning, but rather,

Symptoms And Treatment Of Bipolar Disorder Essay
Bipolar disorder is a major mood disorder that includes the cycling of two parts; acute mania and
bipolar depression. There are many factors that affect the onset of bipolar disorder, such as genetics,
environment, and dysfunction in the brain. Due to its two part nature, various drugs have been used as
antidepressants or antipsychotics. Unfortunately, not all drugs have the ability to target both aspects of
bipolar disorder. As of right now there are various pharmacotherapeutics for bipolar disorder, but two
of the most widely used are Lithium treatments or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs).
These are some of the primary treatments for bipolar disorder and even more pharmacotherapeutics
and methods are being developed to ensure that patients are utilizing them properly.
There are many psychotropic drugs that have been tested over the years. Some drugs with therapeutic
effects aimed at the mania aspect of bipolar or the depression aspect of the disorder. Lithium, is one of
the first drugs to be specifically used for individuals with bipolar disorder. When taking this drug, a

Emily Dickinson Syntax
Poetry is a mirror which makes beautiful that which is distorted. Percy Shelley, an English poet
(brainyquote.org). If anyone can make the distorted subject of death beautiful, it is Emily Dickinson.
One of America s greatest poets of all time, Dickinson makes depressing topics into works of art. Her
poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died is one of Dickinson s many poems that embraces the topic of
death. This poem describes the stillness of the atmosphere at the moment someone dies, but with an
interesting twist; a fly interrupts the solemn scene of people standing around the dying person. Just
when the moment seems calm and peaceful, the fly intrudes in the room as the speaker slips away.
Throughout the poem, Dickinson includes many details ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dickinson uses similes and onomatopoeia to present the two opposing subjects in the poem. For
example, lines two, three, and four of the first stanza contain a simile comparing the stillness of the
room to the stillness between a storm. Within the first stanza, it says The Stillness in the Room Was
like the Stillness in the Air Between the Heaves of Storm (Dickinson). By comparing the room to the
breaks between a storm, it creates in the poem a heavy and thick atmosphere, building tension as if
something was about to happen. In contrast, the use of onomatopoeia in the poem interrupts the
stillness of the room with a buzzing fly. In the first line of the fourth stanza it says, With Blue
uncertain stumbling Buzz (Dickinson), the word Buzz acting as onomatopoeia. Throughout the poem,

Gnosticism And Western Esotericism
Stephan A. Hoeller defined Gnosticism as a system of teachings based on gnosis: the knowledge of
transcendence arrived at by way of interior intuitive means . The Greek words gnosis is defined by the
Oxford Dictionary as a special knowledge (or wisdom) of spiritual mysteries . An individual or group
that possesses gnosis as a part of Gnosticism is labelled with the Greek word Gnostic. Historical
context indicates that Gnosticism was originally a Jewish esoteric (secret) spirituality that assumed a
Christian form after the coming of the Christian dispensation .
Gnosticism is a significant example of Western Esotericism. Esotericism (Greek root esōteros
meaning inner) is the inner gnosis held by a limited circle of people, whose aims are individual
salvation through gaining gnosis. Gnostic principles are explained through myths, just like esoteric
gnosis is. Gnosticism in Western Esotericism originated in the first century of the common era. ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Jfk Inaugural Address
In John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address on January 20, 1961, Kennedy addresses the citizens of the
United States as well as the country s allies in regards to his plans on how he will run the country
during his time as president. He speaks with passion about hope for an improved United States, as
well as an improved planet overall. To deliver his message profoundly and clearly, Kennedy uses
many rhetorical devices in his speech that give his message a conversational tone as well as a clear
and compelling structure. Firstly, Kennedy uses many metaphors to place a meaningful emphasis on
his words. When he speaks to members of the audience who have just become freed from tyranny,
Kennedy uses a metaphor to describe why this will not occur in the United States when he states, ...
we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom and to remember that, in the
past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside . Kennedy
speaks of dictators who attempted to overtake a country and ultimately were destroyed by this choice.
The use of diction here promises that he understands the limits to his own power as president, and will
not push such important boundaries. Another excellent metaphor appears when the president says, ....
we offer a special pledge... to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty
. Here, Kennedy stresses the idea that poverty prevents people from advancing in society. The chains
are not physical nor visible, but can be felt heavily across the bodies of the less fortunate as they
struggle to make enough money to survive. While both of these metaphors are compelling to readers,
Kennedy also chooses to use the word we in each statement. This choice allows the listener to feel
connected personally with the president, and creates a sense of a personal relationship as Kennedy
continues. Secondly, Kennedy also uses the rhetorical devices of polysyndeton and asyndeton in his
speech. These devices create a rhythm throughout the speaker s words that work to entrance the
listener. Within the first few paragraphs of the infamous address, Kennedy employs polysyndeton. ...

example as the trail blazer of the new policies, changes and with that, U.S. is a role model for world s
powers. Looking from the economist s perspective of how to explain such advantage, open door trade
is one of the factors that explain its success. Great number of economists stands unified in support of
free trade. This paper will discuss some major points that revolve around the central idea which
explains that in order to achieve economic success in today s world requires free trade, which entails
liberalization to attract international ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Krugman 1987,131) Free trade supporters make a point that if we don t move toward liberalization,
the gravity of protectionism and political interests will pull us back bicycle theory . (Bergsten 1996,
109). The successful example of bicycle moving forward is the Uruguay Round conclusion. (Bergsten
1996, 109). Following that NAFTA and such, have made a significant progress in resolving debate in
the international trade arena. Liberalist economists insist that with openness toward international
trade, countries benefit in multiple segments and knowledge is one of the major exchanges which are
crucial for improvement. ( O Brien Williams 2013,112) Therefore, it is important to understand
liberalist perspective at first. Economic liberalist view human nature acting rational in order to

international wealth is maximized with exchange of goods and services which is also a comparative
advantage based theoretical aspect. (Mingst Toft, 2104, 310) With Ricardo s comparative advantage, it
s important to mention specialization of a commodity that a specific country can produce more
efficiently in exchange for another commodity.

The Doctrine Of Freedom Of Contract
The particular focus of this essay is on how terms are implied. This is central because the courts
intervene and impose implied terms when they believe that in addition to the terms the parties have
expressly agreed on, other terms must be implied into the contract. Gillies argued that the courts have
become more interventionist in protecting the rights of contracting parties thereby encroaching upon
the notion of freedom of contract. The doctrine of freedom of contract is a prevailing philosophy
which upholds the idea that parties to a contract should be at liberty to agree on their own terms
without the interference of the courts or legislature. Implied terms can be viewed as a technique of
construction or interpretation of contracts. It has been argued that the courts are interfering too much
in their approach to determine and interpret the terms of a contract. The aim of this essay is to explore
this argument further and in doing so consider whether freedom of contract is lost due to courts
imposing implied terms. The essay will outline how the common law implies terms. The final part of
the essay will examine whether Parliament, by means of a statute, or terms implied by custom restrict
freedom in a contract. An overall conclusion on the issue will be reached. On the one hand it is evident
that terms implied at common law can be implied in law or implied in fact . Terms implied as a matter
of fact are said to give effect to unexpressed intentions of the

Washington is a nice and patient person. He is the MacTeer s boarder. He is a good worker and
Claudia always makes fun of him just because he is not married yet. That is ok but apparently she
wants him to get married so badly. 2. Her eyes look like snot. I don t feel like looking at them. What

  • 2. Hair Band Research Paper In the 1980s there was a certain type of genre that rocked America, it was known as hair bands. Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Poison, and Warrant and many others were all hair bands, but what was the story behind the hair? There is a lot of debate over who is a hair band and who is not. For example, Guns N Roses is commonly debated over whether they are a hair band or not. Normally a hair band consists of a lead singer, a guitarist(s), a drummer, a bassist, a wild hair style, some make up, and flamboyant clothes. There weren t as many hair bands as you would think, there was about 20 main hair bands. Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Warrant, Poison, Cinderella, Van Halen, Britny Fox, Ratt, MÖtley CrÜe, Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Dokken, Europe, Firehouse, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is never really a definite answer to who really created rock n roll. It wasn t Elvis, and it wasn t Chuck Berry. Its widely believed that the first rock n roll single was Rocket 88 by Jackie Brenston. Most people think that rock n roll started from The Blues, but Larry Birnbaum says that it comes from Rhythm Blues. It eventually evolved into the typical rock sounds of the 50s and 60s that we know, like Chuck Berry s Johnny B. Goode and Elvis Presley s Jailhouse Rock. That eventually led to bands from the 70s and early 80s like The New York Dolls and Led Zeppelin which were more of Glam Rock. Hair metal was influenced from the glam rock of the 70s. Glam Rock was basically a step down from Hair Bands. They wore more feminine clothes, like heels and pantyhose. Hair Bands didn t exactly wear heels and pantyhose, but they adopted the look of wearing makeup, the strange clothes, and most importantly the hair. Quiet Riots Metal Health album was the first Hair Metal album to reach number 1 on The Billboard charts. That made way for the rest of the genre and caused its rise to fame. The television program MTV also helped with the genre and the show rise to fame quickly. MTV was a music television program that played the music videos of 80s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Obstructive sleep apnea is undiagnosed mostly in women being 92% and 80% in men. The estimated prevalence in women is 2% and in men is 4%. A study was done by the University of Pennsylvania revealing that the prevalence in women was 4% and 9% for men. Another study called The Wisconsin Cohrt study showed that people who are 30 to 60 years old, the prevalence is 9 24% for men and 4 9% for women. Although Obstructive sleep apnea is less certain in children, in the recent years they have seen an increase of cases of children who have sleep apnea. This is due to the fact of children being obese or to their counterparts. Although there has been an increase of cases this might be an effect of being sleepy or hyperactive. • 4. Comparison Of Chicago, New York City And Detroit Chicago, New York City, and Detroit Today, Detroit, New York City and Chicago have many similarities They re highly populated cities with high crime rates, many homeless people, noisy streets and terrible traffic. In contrast, they attract many tourists with their tall skyscrapers, and their famous attractions. As well as similarities, there s also, many differences. Today, Chicago and New York City are known for having many job opportunities and luring people in with promising careers. Whereas in Detroit, it s known to be quite hard to find employment. These cities have gone on a long journey to get to where they re at today. I ll be discussing Detroit s history from around 1880 to 1910 and comparing it to the way Chicago and New York City was in the book, Sister Carrie written by Theodore Dreiser. From 1880 to 1910 Detroit changed dramatically. The city was under development and was on its way to becoming a successful, and higher populated, city. According to Detroit Historical Society, in 1880 Detroit s population consisted of over 100,000 citizens. Life in a small town seems to go by very slowly. It s all about what you make out of it. Certain events and certain people have influenced me in a way that has made me a better person. The character of one s self is built from all the hard times we go through in life, not always off of the easy ones. My father has had a major influence on me during the course of my life, thus far. My dad was in the Marine Corps before I was born. He was always strict with me with every aspect of my life and has always pushed me to be a better person. Growing up, I would see him get up early and come home late from work. He is a very hard working man and I hope I develop at least half of his working abilities. He has taught me the majority of what I know now. He is a very smart man and it s great to have a role model like that as my father. My mother always played a more studious role in my life. She graduated from Shawnee State University with a degree in nursing. She is a very smart woman and has always pushed me to get good grades and go to college. I could honestly say that I wouldn t have received half the good grades as I did if it wasn t for her always checking up and being there for me with my schooling. • 7. Sexual Cannibalism And Sex Cannibalism In many Arthropoda (Arthropods), sexual cannibalism is quite common. Female Mantodeas (Mantids), commonly referred to as Mantis from their genus, have been known to decapitate their male counterparts before, during or even after sexual copulation. Sexual cannibalism varies widely amongst the species of Mantids, where some species lack this behavior all together. Males often take part in ritualistic dances to court a female and are very cautious of their proximity before attempting to mount. Although sexual cannibalism does not occur constantly, one could hypothesize that female sexual cannibalism is a foraging strategy that results in an increase of fecundity from the nutritional gain of consuming males. Female mantids who participate in sexual cannibalism should be more fit, thus contributing to the quality and quantity of her offspring. An increase in sexual cannibalism should occur when there is low food and resource availability. With gathered research I was able to evaluate the validity of my hypotheses. The phenomenon of sexual cannibalism in this perspective held some truth, yet produced repulsions amongst several others. Introduction Sexual dimorphism, favoring larger sized females, initially offered a theory as to why females exhibited cannibalistic behavior. Sexual cannibalism is where a counterpart eats his/hers potential sexual partner prior, during or after copulation. This is typically seen in female arthropods. It was once thought that females who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some are more popular and well known than others, with a few of the main world religions being Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. With each religion, one can be slightly similar to one and completely opposite in beliefs to another; this is seen in the idea of the afterlife, in which Buddhism focuses on the idea of rebirth and awakening, whereas Hinduism and Jainism both believe in the idea of reincarnation until liberation. Buddhism is seen as a way of life rather than a form of religion that needs to be closely followed and constantly practiced. The idea of enlightenment carries through one s entire lifetime in an attempt to reach nirvana, which is an end to all suffering. A person s lifetime is spent being faithful and relying on karma to eventually achieve nirvana and enlightenment, in which people embark on the path of awakening. The awakening is a very crucial aspect of the Buddhist religion, as it was Buddha s own personal awakening and understanding of how the world works, in which he passed it on to be believed and understood by others. It s closely related to other religions in the way that rebirth and reincarnation are the beliefs surrounding the idea of the afterlife, however Buddhism in particular is an anatta tradition, or not self, which often sets it apart from other religions. This complex ideal entails that one s external self, consciousness, feelings ... Thus, the assumptions Dyson makes toward his audience are a Christian ethic, an awareness of American history and current events, and a generalized white ethnic upbringing. Why is it important to use the customer worth in the DBM efforts rather than the observed level of play? This calculation allows Harrah s management to more strategically analyze and predict a customer s future spending as opposed to analysis of observed level of play which is only based on a customer s previous spending patterns. The example contained in this article of Ms. Maranees best exemplifies the benefits of calculating customer worth as opposed to an observed level of play. Ms. Maranees only played a limited amount in a short timeframe at Harrah s, so if one were to solely judge her future habits by her observed level of play during that trip, they likely would not feel that she was a customer worth targeting. • 29. Racial And Economic Justice Can Be Achieved Without Violence One of the most important questions in my generation was Can racial and economic justice be achieved without violence? That is still a relevant question in today s world as well. However, I am here to say yes; racial and economic justice can be achieved without violence. Racial and economic injustice occurred while I was in high religious order and we were able to stop these injustices without violence. We held non violent protests all across South Africa and it ended up being successful for our country. When your enemy is using the tactic of violence to stop us from voicing our opinions on injustices, being violent right back would only cause more issues. So I firmly stand by my opinion that racial and economic justice can be achieved without being violent. Before I begin my argument that non violence is the only solution to these injustices, I will give a few details about my background. My full name is Desmond Mpilo Tutu and I was born on October 7th, 1931 in South Africa. I was born to a father that was an elementary school teacher and a mother who worked at a school for the blind. Even though I and my 3 siblings knew that there was segregation in our world, and our family did not have a lot of money, we still had a very happy childhood and made the most of it. • 31. Cubism And Post-Impressionism And The Movements That... The movements that greatly influenced the sexualization of woman would be Cubism and Post Impressionism. This theme is based on the idea that female nudity is the most popular convention that promotes the topic of sexuality in art. As well as the idea that a lot can be said and taught about feminism while looking at the tradition of female nudity in different artworks. The social construct of how the different genders (male and female) are portrayed in Modern paintings is another very complex topic that is emphasized in these two pieces. For example, women are given certain expectations and ideas of how they should behave. One thing that is not so prominent in the theme would be how the sexualation of woman could be less than offensive and how at this time it actually was more based on a woman s fertility and maternity than anything. The role of gender and sexuality in modern art is very prominent in paintings that come from Paul Cezanne and Pablo Picasso. However, Cezanne returned to the traditional way of sexualizing nude female figures, while Picasso put his own twist on the subject matter. Paul Cezanne touched on this topic in his 1906 oil painting The Large Bathers. This piece influenced many Modern Artists, especially Pablo Picasso. This life size painting is an unfinished piece that features fourteen naked women on a riverbank. Kennedy s Inaugural Address on January 20, 1961, Kennedy addresses the citizens of the United States as well as the country s allies in regards to his plans on how he will run the country during his time as president. He speaks with passion about hope for an improved United States, as well as an improved planet overall. To deliver his message profoundly and clearly, Kennedy uses many rhetorical devices in his speech that give his message a conversational tone as well as a clear and compelling structure. Firstly, Kennedy uses many metaphors to place a meaningful emphasis on his words. When he speaks to members of the audience who have just become freed from tyranny, Kennedy uses a metaphor to describe why this will not occur in the United States when he states, ... we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside . Kennedy speaks of dictators who attempted to overtake a country and ultimately were destroyed by this choice. The use of diction here promises that he understands the limits to his own power as president, and will not push such important boundaries. Another excellent metaphor appears when the president says, .... we offer a special pledge... to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty . Here, Kennedy stresses the idea that poverty prevents people from advancing in society. The chains are not physical nor visible, but can be felt heavily across the bodies of the less fortunate as they struggle to make enough money to survive. While both of these metaphors are compelling to readers, Kennedy also chooses to use the word we in each statement. This choice allows the listener to feel connected personally with the president, and creates a sense of a personal relationship as Kennedy continues. Secondly, Kennedy also uses the rhetorical devices of polysyndeton and asyndeton in his speech. These devices create a rhythm throughout the speaker s words that work to entrance the listener. Within the first few paragraphs of the infamous address, Kennedy employs polysyndeton. ... we shall pay any price, bear any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Doctrine Of Freedom Of Contract The particular focus of this essay is on how terms are implied. This is central because the courts intervene and impose implied terms when they believe that in addition to the terms the parties have expressly agreed on, other terms must be implied into the contract. Gillies argued that the courts have become more interventionist in protecting the rights of contracting parties thereby encroaching upon the notion of freedom of contract. The doctrine of freedom of contract is a prevailing philosophy which upholds the idea that parties to a contract should be at liberty to agree on their own terms without the interference of the courts or legislature. Implied terms can be viewed as a technique of construction or interpretation of contracts. It has been argued that the courts are interfering too much in their approach to determine and interpret the terms of a contract. The aim of this essay is to explore this argument further and in doing so consider whether freedom of contract is lost due to courts imposing implied terms. The essay will outline how the common law implies terms. The final part of the essay will examine whether Parliament, by means of a statute, or terms implied by custom restrict freedom in a contract.
