Analyse the Argument of the Existence of God from...
i) Analyse the Argument for the Existence of God from Religious Experience (18)
The argument for the existence of God from Religious Experience is a simple one, with only two
premises. The first being that some people have, or have had a religious experience, the second
premise is that these are only explicable though God, thus leading to the conclusion that God exists.
This leads us to question, what exactly are religious experiences?
Theologians have struggled for centuries trying to define what a religious experience is, with many
believing a religious experience to be a sort of revelation, meaning that God reveals some part of hi
nature to the experient. St Thomas Aquinas believed that to be his Revealed Theology , where truths ...

Swinburne s third type is a strong feeling, a conviction that they were experiencing, even though there
is no phenomena surrounding the experience. The penultimate type is witnessing a perfectly normal
experience, such as the Grand Canyon, which creates a numinous experience. The final type of
experience is in perceiving a very unusual public object, like a miracle, for instance, the resurrection.
To help identify a religious experience, William James put forward four characteristics of a typical
experience. The first being passivity: how in control the experient is; as whilst you undergo a religious
experience, you take on an alternative personality outside of your own, surrendering your own control
to God. The second quality is ineffability, where the experient can t quite put the occurrence into
words. Another characteristic of a religious experience is the Noetic Quality of said experience. This
quality is the knowledge that is gained in a religious experience, knowledge that cannot be gained in a
conventional manner, and tells you something that you otherwise wouldn t know. The final quality is
transciency, where the time the experience takes doesn t dictate the significance of the experience, as
time is altered or distorted in some way, just as in a dream the dream may seem really long, whereas in
reality it s only been a few minutes

Body Systems Interrelate
D1 Analyse how two body systems interrelate to perform named functions The circulatory system and
the respiratory system work closely together to ensure that organ tissues and systems receive enough
oxygen. Oxygen is required for cellular functions such as cell respiration. This is so the body s organs
and cells can work at fully; it is done by releasing chemical energy with in stored foods. The air
breathed in and held in the lungs is transferred to the blood. The blood is circulated by the heart,
which pumps the oxygenated blood from the lungs to the body organs and returns with deoxygenated
blood. Energy metabolism comes in different types such as Anabolism and Catabolism energy. They
all make sure that energy breaks down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same happens with Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The blood in the surrounding capillaries has a higher
concentration of CO2 than the inspired air due to it being a waste product of energy production. This
is when O2 and CO2 pass each other going back around the body systems to the heart. Once this is
done the flow goes from Deoxygenated blood to Oxygenated blood. There is a small amount of carbon
dioxide and more oxygen in the body because of gases exchange this is where oxygen form the lungs
is transferred in to the blood and carried to the heart and when carbon dioxide is carried in to the lungs
forms the blood and is exacted outwards by breathing. Mitochondria also need oxygen to create
carbon dioxide for the body so the gas exchange can happen again. Outside the body there is a smaller
amount of oxygen but it is still higher than CO2. Oxygen is used for cell respiration which is created
and found in the mitochondria. The mitochondria need oxygen to make glucose for the body cells and
to create carbon dioxide. Glucose is used in the liver to regulate the body s sugar levels. Carbon
dioxide is then added to water and then to energy for cell respiration and for the body systems and
organs to be able to work.
Glucose + Oxygen
Carbon Dioxide + Water + Energy
Homeostasis means keeping a constant internal environment in the body. Homeostasis reaches from
every cell up to the whole of the organs and the systems.

Social Security Trust Vs. Privatization
Social Security Trust v. Privatization
Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend
seems to be toward an increasing percentage of the American public, across party and demographic
lines, in favor of strengthening Social Security funding, and a willingness to pay more to preserve and
even improve benefits. However, the trend towards privatization of Social Security is also on the rise.
What is not clear is whether Americans favor privatization because of fears that the Social Security
Trust Fund is living on borrowed time.
The Social Security Act (SSA) of 1935 was drafted during the Great Depression as part of President
Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal. The SSA was an attempt to ... Show more content on

In 1965, Congress expanded the system to include Medicare, which provides both hospital and
physician coverage to the elderly and disabled. In 2003, Congress added a prescription drug benefit to
Medicare (Edwards 431, 540). Since the Social Security Act was signed into law, many politicians
have advocated for privatizing Social Security, even though Americans are in favor of Social Security
and wish to strengthen the program.
The American public strongly supports Social Security, across party and demographic lines. A January
2013, National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) study, Strengthening Social Security: What Do
Americans Want?, found that Americans overwhelmingly support Social Security and are willing to
pay more to preserve and improve benefits. With more than 59 million or 18% of Americans receiving
Social Security benefits, Americans recognize Social Security as a critical program. A large majority
of Americans say they do not mind paying Social Security taxes because of the stability and security
the benefits provide. These findings hold true across party lines, those polled included 87% of
Democrats, 72% of Republicans, and 81% of Independents. 73% of Americans are also willing to pay
for Social Security because they value it for themselves and their families. 85% of Americans say
Social Security is more important than ever to ensure that the elderly and disabled have dependable
income. These views cut across

Ebola Virus College Essay
When the Ebola Virus broke out in Nigeria two years ago, the fear in which we lived, knowing that
even a handshake from the wrong person could move our legs to kick the bucket, was almost too
palpable. People, including my closest friends and family, refrained from hugs and handshakes which
I have always seen as a reflection of love Simply because they didn t want to die. Although their
sentiments maintained a righteous level of Validity, it always made me feel Uneasy. So Uneasy that I
sought to learn more about this virus I loathed albeit realising that I didn t have anything to do about
it. Consequently, as I dug up pages upon pages of Information about this Virus, my interest shifted
from this one species of living Organisms to the physicochemical and biochemical processes that
occur within living Organisms and that prompts complexity of life. In my last few months of

Racism, Prejudice And Antisemitism
Racism, Prejudice, and antisemitism are very serious concerns that need to be dealt with. As Rosa
Parks said, Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet,
and, hopefully, we shall overcome. Even if people now are trying to get rid of these horrific concerns.
Many bad things are still going on in the world. But there are just as many solutions on how to combat
these horrific acts. Throughout the essay, you ll see how serious racism, bullying, and antisemitism
are, and you ll hopefully then understand why, and how you should combat it. Bullying is the act of
repeated harassment against someone for someone s own pleasure.

Is Meritocracy
Is Meritocracy Actually As Fair As It Sounds?
Those who deserve to, succeed, and those who succeed, deserve to. People have to earn everything
they have and, no matter where they start, as long as they work hard they can get anywhere they want
to go. An extreme form of the American Dream . But while it is most definitely all of these things
listed above, is a meritocracy actually as fair as it sounds? In order for a meritocracy to work,
everyone would have to start on a level playing field in terms of race, wealth, and neighborhood to
have the same opportunity to earn their success. But, to get to this point, wealth would have to be
redistributed and races would have to be seen as perfectly equal to each other, which seems difficult in
the current society of the world where stigmas and stereotypes surround certain races and topics.
According to a writer in The Atlantic Monthly, even just the myth of meritocracy, or the relative truth
of it, can have a negative effect on colored children. For example, Dasani is an 11 year old African
American girl living in a decrepit city run shelter for the homeless in New York (Elliot). It is
obviously no place for a child. Dasani, however, is quite smart and is described by her principal as the
kind of girl who could be anything even a Supreme Court justice if only she harnesses her gifts early
enough . But, it is hard for children growing up in the situations Dasani is in, to even find what those
gifts are given the

Universities are being challenged to provide high quality and productive human resources. Such
challenges must be an impact of increased global competition and the pressure of diminishing
resource. The participation of students in group discussion has been accepted as an effective strategy
because it is the place for the students to implement their interpersonal communication skill in order to

Same Sex Marriage Essay
What are others doing?
Canada is not the first country in the world to address whether and how to legally recognize same sex
unions. Indeed, Canada is coming to the debate later than many countries. Several countries have
debated this issue for many years and have come up with a variety of approaches, ranging from same
sex marriage in the Netherlands to the legal recognition of domestic partners, registered partnerships
and civil unions in Scandinavia, parts of Europe and parts of the United States. Although some of
these approaches appear to be similar, each is quite different, as it has been created to fit the particular
society and to comply with the specific constitutional and legal structures in each country. Most

Alberta, in a bill before their legislature, has also raised the possibility of legal recognition for
unmarried couples. Some details are set out below. In addition to these laws, most provinces and
territories have now also legislated to provide some or all of the benefits and obligations of married
couples to common law gay and lesbian couples under provincial and territorial laws.
Quebec
Bill 84 — An Act instituting civil unions and establishing new rules of filiation — was passed by the
National Assembly in June 2002. The Act amends the Civil Code and a number of other provincial
laws to create a new status of civil union partners (open to both unmarried opposite sex and same sex
conjugal partners). Civil union partners have almost all of the same benefits and obligations under
provincial law as married couples do, including the legal relationship between the partner and any
children. A civil union can be dissolved by a court judgment, a notarized joint declaration (under some
circumstances) or upon the death of one of the partners. A partner to a civil union cannot marry
without first dissolving the civil union.
While ensuring equal treatment, the Act makes it clear that civil unions are not marriages, and retains
some legal distinctions between the two. For example, some provisions of the Civil Code that relate to
legal separation continue to apply only to married couples.

I Will Take A Sony Dream Machine Model Icf Cs15ip Alarm Clock
Waking up in the morning is a difficult task for some people, whereas for others waking up may seem
like a natural routine. Well for those people who have a hard time waking up or just wanting to get up
at a specific time there was a device invented called the alarm clock. This device was originally
invented by ancient Greek philosophers around 250 B.C. and over the years mechanical alarm clocks
were invented by Levi Hutchins in 1787 (History of Clocks. (n.d.). Retrieved November 6, 2014.),
then came radio alarm clocks invented by James Reynolds (The History of Alarm Clocks
{INFOGRAPHIC}. (n.d.). Retrieved November 6, 2014.), and finally the modern alarm clocks with
IPhone or IPod docking bays. My objective is to write a proposal for option one on the final project, in
which I will take a Sony Dream Machine model ICF CS15iP alarm clock and discuss my experience
using and interacting with the device. Also I will examine how other people interact and review their
experience in using the Dream Machine. The methods I plan on using to accomplish this project will
be to explain in detail the ways I interact with the device and go over my experience with it too. The
first and second part of the project will be to gather information from various sources such as,
manufacturer s manual, Sony s website, and web sites that contains reviews from people that have
used or that is still using the Dream Machine. After, reading the reviews I will categorize them into

M Night Symbolism
In M. Night Shyamalan s movie The Sixth Sense symbolism and foreshadowing is used throughout.
The use of the color red is the most obvious form of symbolism. The color red is used to show
important moments, presence of spirits, paranormal events, etc. in the movie.
Red is used to highlight the most important moments in the movie or just items of interest that the
viewer should take note of. From the first scene of the movie you can start to notice the red
symbolism. Malcolm and his wife are discussing his awards and it s shown to be invaded inside of a
red frame. Another example of symbolism is towards the beginning of the movie when Cole is at the
birthday party and he follows the red balloon upstairs where he has an encounter with a paranormal ...

This part of the film was somewhat confusing to me. I thought maybe he didn t like talking to anyone
besides his patients. I thought Cole was his patient so he only talked to him. After seeing the scene
where Malcolm and Cole s mother were sitting together waiting for Cole to come home I thought that
maybe he was having a conversation with her but towards the end of the movie it was clarified that
Malcolm was never talking to her or interacting with her. I noticed that Cole refused to interact with
Malcolm in that scene but would ve never done so if they were alone. Another part of the movie that
was somewhat confusing to me was if those kids from school were hitting Cole or if it was his mother.
I initially thought that it was the kids but after seeing how Cole s mother was so impatient with him I
thought it maybe could ve been her. Again, the ending of the movie where Cole finally revealed his
secret to his mother clarified the whole thing. He explained to her that the ghosts would do that to him.
I believe some parts of the movie were meant to confuse the viewer to have them thinking something
completely opposite of the truth. The people who were behind the movie really paid attention to the
detailing and really ended up explaining everything at the end of the

The Surveillance Of Cctv Cameras
Over the years, banks have housed several of their branches in large buildings, sharing their space
with other occupants. Although security is a key factor in consideration of the location of a bank,
smart individuals use this positioning to their advantage. Access is gained by cutting a hole in the
floor, and theft occurs. With the passing years, security in banks has been evident with the reliance of
CCTV cameras. This ensures monitoring of the users activities in banks by security officers who take
turns in watching the screens for any uneventful, unexpected happenings. The CCTV cameras are
placed strategically in every corner to ensure each detail of the activities taking place is recorded. The

This made the people hesitate to invest any significant amount of money at the time. The idea slowly
began to catch on after easing into E commerce. Major and minor banks are trying to enhance the
security of their firms using different methods. The security system of some banks requires highly
trained, capable individuals who can protect progression of activities in their allocated areas, be it
inside the bank, at ATM portals and in monitoring CCTV cameras.
Use of laser beams that generate intense beams of coherent monochromatic light through simulated
emission of photons has been used as a security measure. They are used either as sensors to trigger
alarms or as penetrative destructive beams in highly confiscated areas, which allow limited or no
access at all. Online banking security measures are kept to plan by the banks allowing software
developers to create antivirus software and sell the software to them. Users are required to download
this antivirus for themselves without necessarily consulting the bank s security operators. Recent
trends have shown the use of biometric analysis in the form of hand writing recognition, hand finger,
and geometry (Taylor, 2013).
Unlike the current system, the working of this system will provide accurate data storage, since any
transaction is recorded on the device and can be easily traced. The system will also create more client
confidentiality since any unauthorized individual cannot access the data stored in the system. This

Cardiac Surgery With Cardiopulmonary Bypass Essay
Introduction
Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is one of the most widely recognized major
surgical procedures worldwide. Renal failure is a noteworthy cause of morbidity and mortality after
cardiac surgery.1,2 Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs in about 20 40% of patients3 and is associated
with a mortality rate of 8% compared with 0.9% in patients without AKI. AKI requiring hemodialysis
in the postoperative period is uncommon (~ 1% to 5%), yet associated with a remarkably high
mortality rate of 30% to 60%.4 (11 13). AKI increases the risk for ensuing chronic kidney disease and
kidney failure, with its associated morbidity and mortality.5
Clinical prediction tools have been developed to estimate the possibility of cardiac surgery associated
AKI (CSAAKI).8 10 These have recognized female gender, impaired left ventricular function, insulin
requiring diabetes, emergency surgery, and abnormal baseline renal function as independent predictors
of requirement for dialysis.23 Pathophysiological mechanisms of CSAAKI include decreased renal
perfusion, lack of pulsatile flow, oxidative stress, hypothermia, atheroembolism, and inflammation 23.
The main mechanism of injury is thought to be intraoperative ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).20
Prolonged duration of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and its inflammatory response, and prolonged
aortic cross clamping are the leading factors associated with an increased likelihood of cardiac
ischemia reperfusion injury.22 Although

How Does Media Shape Standards Of Beauty
This article discusses how media shapes standards of beauty. In modern society, beauty standards are

However, it is very descriptive as it focuses in on the Dove campaign. This article made me realize
that Dove is taking the right steps to prevent women and young girls from getting physical and mental

Figurative Language In The Chimney Sweeper
If you ve ever seen the movie Mary Poppins you are probably well aware of the Chim Chim Cher ee
scene with the dirty and unkept men that are covered in black soot. They dance around and sing
merely, but there is a harsher reality to the act of chimney sweeping. Since chimneys are very narrow,
children were often sold, by their parents, to chimney owners. They lived, they breathed, they slept,
and they played in the treacherous soot. Despite the harsh conditions in which they lived, the children
s imagination kept them going through the deadly job. In his poem The Chimney Sweeper from Songs
of Innocence, Blake uses figurative language, biblical allusion, and poetic structure to convey a
dichotomous theme between fanciful and rational views of the lives of the chimney sweepers. ... Show

The Supreme Court Case Loving V. Virginia
On June 2, 1958 Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving went to Washington D.C. to get married and they
went back to Virginia a few days later. But because Mildred was of African American and Native
American decent, and Richard was white they were arrested for violating the state law that prohibits
interracial marriage. At the time, Virginia was one of 17 states, including Texas and Alabama, that had
laws prohibiting interracial marriage (Wolfe). The Supreme Court Case Loving v. Virginia is an
important of part of American history that has had a huge impact on racial equality and has helped
change the definition of marriage in the United States forever.
After their arrest, Richard was released after only one night with a $1000 bond. Mildred was released
a few days later into the care of her father. In the trial in October 1958, they pleaded not guilty and
waived a jury trial. However, they changed their pleas to guilty at the end of their arguments. and on
January 6, 1959 they were sentenced to one year in prison (Wolfe). However, Judge Leon Bazile
suspended the sentence under the condition that they do not return to the state together for 25 years.
The sentence allowed them to return individually (Wolfe). So they paid their court fees of $36.29 each
and they lived to Washington D.C. to live with Mildred s cousin and his wife, but they still wanted to

Revolution during the Swinging Sixties
The 1960s was a turning point in American history. Many remember the decade as the Swinging
Sixties, best remembered for the hippies and the Beatles, the Rolling stones and the Summer of Love,
drugs, flamboyant fashion, and the permissive society (Fisher 3). Socially, fashion was making a 180
degree turn. The Beatles influenced fashion for many bands. As Garson stated in his book, Out were
the matching jackets, ties, and pompadours, in were jeans, vests, and longer hair combed down in the
style of the Beatles. (Garson 86). First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy influenced women s fashion a great
deal as well. Fashion both followed and predicated political action. (Rielly 75 77). She set the fashion
standards for women, and introduced new trends, such as the pillbox hat. Politically, an even that
traumatized the American society was President John F. Kennedy s assassination. Lee Harvy Oswald
assassinated him on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. One of John F. Kennedy s goals for America
was to help reduce poverty. After his murder, President Lyndon B. Johnson quickly jumped into office
to help complete his work often known as the Great Society. It was the largest reform since Roosevelt
s New Deal. Two very important pieces of legislation were passed. The Civil Rights Bill that JFK
promised to sign was passed into law...Johnson also signed the omnibus Economic Opportunity Act of

Brave New World by British writer Aldous Huxley shows how the future will bring inevitable

abuse, sexual promiscuity, and freedom. Featured in the book heavily is the theme of sexual
promiscuity. We are shown how open each character is about their sexual forwardness, but we also see
how disconnected sex is with the manufacturing of humans, the idea of sex is used merely as a
distraction instead of expressing emotional intimacy for one another. There is section from the book in

People are seen as being part of a class and each citizen has a certain class of alienation which
includes appearance, intellect, and morals. People are usually alienated because of their individuality.
According to John the Savage, a character from the book, was alienated in both savage culture and
world state culture. He was shown as being different to the indians on the reservation. With the
excerpt why wouldn t they let me be the sacrifice? shows that with his appearance compared to the
indians of the reservations he was not allowed to participate in some acts of their culture due to the
way he looks. When he goes to England he is once again shown as being isolated by wanting to keep
true to his savage nature and trying to conform to the world state standards. Another character that
portrays alienation is Helmholtz Watson, an alpha plus, who is much smarter and stronger than the
other alpha s. This leads him to perform test and experiments that are not accepted by the world state
which leads him to exile. This can easily be compared to the totalitarian dictatorship government of
North Korea. The citizens of North Korea have no exposure to the outside world and according to
their leader, Kim Jong Un, they are the pinnacle of the world. The residents North Korea have little to
no access of outside information and due to the misinformation they are exposed to they are lead to

suited for the environment. Transitioning grape types could be a comparatively inexpensive adaptation

moving vineyards could be detrimental to complex ecosystems. It should be noted that grape vines on
average live at least 20 years. Therefore, future planning will be necessary to transition vineyards. ...

If earnings are expected to grow in the future, the estimated P/E will be lower than the current P/E.
This measure is also used to compare one company to another with a forward looking focus. Earnings
per share reflects the profitability of the business. This rate indicates the profit per share created. The
higher EPS, the more profit created. However, the low EPS doesn t necessarily mean the business has
performed badly. Although Tesla s EPS growth rate ( 193.6% EPS for the current year) is low, Tesla is
seen as a prospective business. The reason is the business earns and reinvest its earning back to other
field for business development. And the next year expected high EPS growth (135.47%) can also be

its total assets. Generally, ROA needs to be positive if the business is growing. However, not all
companies with negative ROAs are always bad investments. Tesla s negative ROA are interpreted that

theory is applied to our everyday lives can be seen through many different ideas brought about by
these conflict theorists. Whether or not I agree or disagree with this theory, will be determined by the
factors and situations that conflict theory has to show. Karl Marx, a philosopher, journalist, and
revolutionary socialist, is considered the father of conflict theory. He pointed out the continuous
competition for power between different classes in society and how the powerful groups exploit those

their influence in the making of social decisions, and their ability to impose values, will also be greater
than those of the lower classes (McShane, Williams 129 130). If you are on the bottom and you don t
like something that is going on with people in power, you could have a revolution or stage a riot.
Anytime you are dealing with the situation where people are fighting over the use of land or who s
going to have what status or privilege, we are then seeing things through the eyes of a conflict theorist.
Money is a big part of this. Being a member of an aristocracy or a powerful group is part of this. So in
addition, we also see minority groups in conflict with the dominant groups. We see exploitation and
domestic violence between men and women and sometimes children. There are numerous perspectives
of conflict theory on the law. Most of the conflict theorists talk about the law as a way of maintain
inequality. That the law is there to advance the interests of people in power, usually people with
money. There are also conflict theories that argue about morality or moral entrepreneurs, people that
use the criminal law to impose their morality on other people despite the fact that it is not widely held
belief and an example would be things like prostitution or other vices that are widely utilized by large
segments of the population, but there are smaller segments

The Age Of Revolutions And The Modern World
The Age of Revolutions and the Modern World
Name:
Institution:
Introduction
The period from 1774 to 1848, is referred to as the Age of Revolution. This is because it saw various
significant revolutionary movements take place that gave way to the complex modern world. These
revolutions took place in different regions in Europe and across America. Some of the revolutions
include: American Revolution, the Haitian Revolution, the revolt of the slaves in Latin America, the
Greek Revolution, the French Revolution, and the independence movements of nations in Latin
America. These revolutions are considered to have impacted the world as they changed different
aspects of society including social setup, political aspects and the economic set up of the world
(Matson, 2005).
The term modernization refers to the transformation or change of a society from a rural and agrarian
position to a more urban, secular and industrial position. Modernization developed rapidly after the
age of revolution and changed the society. The idea of modernization is derived from the notion of an
evolutionary society. This involves the transition of society from barbarism to a developed and ...

Although they happened in distant continents, they have a number of similarities in relation to the
events that led to the rise of these revolutions. Some of these factors include citizens of each state
being treated unfairly by those in power. Initially there were a number of riots which erupted to protest
tis misuse of power. The American Revolution, for example, started in mid 1770s, with the Battle of
Lexington. The American Revolutionary War was a fight for the independence from the colonial rule
of the British. The French revolution started a decade after the American revolution. Similar to the
American revolution, the French revolution occurred following the desire to change the political

Symptoms And Treatment Of Shock
Shock is a life threatening condition with a variety of underlying causes. Shock is caused when the
cells have a lack of adequate blood supply and are deprived of oxygen and nutrients. In cases of
shock, blood is shunted from peripheral areas of the body to the vital organs. Hemorrhage and
decreased blood volume are associated with some, but not all, types of shock.

As sepsis progresses, tissues become less perfused and acidotic, compensation begins to fail, and the
patient begins to show organ dysfunction. The cardiovascular system also begins to fail, the blood
pressure does not respond to fluid resuscitation and vasoactive agents, and signs of end organ damage
are evident (e.g., renal failure, pulmonary failure, hepatic failure). As sepsis progresses to septic
shock, the blood pressure drops, and the skin becomes cool, pale, and mottled. Temperature may be
normal or below normal. Heart and respiratory rates remain rapid. Urine production ceases, and
multiple organ dysfunction progressing to death occurs. Adventitious lung sounds occur throughout
the lung fields, not just in the upper fields of the lungs.

Tombstone Film Analysis
Tombstone The Wild West, following the civil war, and even after reconstruction, was a place filled
with surprising and fascinating characters, including the well known and quite stereotypical character
of the western cowboy. Though not all cowboys are presented in a bad or harsh manner, some,
including the ones in George P. Cosmatos gritty and bloody shoot em up western film, are. While
some may be dubious of the apparent luck and skill of some of the gunmen such as Doc Holliday and
Wyatt Earp, many of the gunfights did have real witnesses, rendering them real. The film is extremely
accurate, and George P. Cosmatos made sure of it, lining the streets and towns in the movie with dusty,
sandy, dirty people, period style horses and carriages and amazing costume design. Even the fast
moving gunfight at the O.K. Corral is portrayed almost completely historically. The film afforded only
a few occasions when continuity and story progression was deemed more important than historical
accuracy. The technical aspects as well, such as the cinematography, hearty gunshots by the sound
design crew, and editing make Tombstone a very action packed and fun to watch movie ... Show more

The roles were chosen spectacularly well, often times with actors already accustomed to playing
western characters (as in the case of Sam Elliott playing Virgil. That being said, the actors also did an
outstanding job with their respective roles. Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer each played stellar roles as
Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, respectively. Their acting was not only great, but also fairly historical.
Even though each actor was sure to bring his own style to the character he/she was playing, it does not
diminish accuracy of the characters, and most likely adds to the enjoyment of the film as a whole as
each character had some stellar lines, such as Doc Holliday s, I m your huckleberry and, I ll be a daisy

The And The World Wide Web
In chapter 11, the author of our text says, in part: Learning what is true and what is not true is harder
today than it once was. The difficulty is not because of a lack of information. We have more
information and more points of view available to us than ever in history. A few clicks on any topic and
you get thousands of entries. In fact, perhaps we get too much information. We get so much that we
are often overwhelmed.... A second problem today is that we should not necessarily believe what we
see or hear. He also says: Our political culture teaches us to learn to be ignorant about politics. Our
generation is one that has more exposure than any prior generation to twenty four hour reports on
multi media devices. Thanks to the internet and the World Wide Web, we have at our disposal many
viewpoints and a wealth of information. This does not necessarily mean that our generation is more
informed or knowledgeable than prior ones. Not all information we are exposed to is true or unbiased.
Learning what is true and what is not true is harder today than it once was . This statement by the
author of our text could refer to the fact that our technology today is so advanced that photographs and
videos can be altered in such a way that no one is the wiser. Just because you are shown a photo or
video does not mean it is a realistic representation of what actually happened. You cannot always
believe what you see. One example of manipulation to a photo is an article in the LA Times

Transnational Corporation (TNC) Networks
The term of Transnational Corporation (TNC), as its name suggests, is a reference to a firm whose
influence is not limited to a single nation. A transnational corporation is a firm that has the power to
coordinate and control operations in more than one country (Dicken, 2011, p. 110). This influence can
take many forms such as subsidiaries or production facilities in other countries, but ownership is not
mandatory for a corporation to have sway in another country. A TNC could gain power in a country
other than its home through connections to suppliers or through the act of outsourcing (Stevis,
Transnational Corporations, 2013). These connections also hint at an idea, suggested by Dicken, that

There are multitudes of roles that states can fill; which they are called upon to undertake can depend
on the type of capitalism and the wishes of the administration currently in power. One of the most
common roles of a state is to function as a regulator over the economy. Under this role, states can
provide structure to help support stable and functioning markets, such as providing the means to
protect property rights; regulations can also be used to restrict certain forms of trade, or to see that a
certain issue that is important to the population of the country is addressed (Stevis, Roles of Sates,
2013). Beyond this basic role, states can also act as both Collaborators and Competitors towards
private firms. States can collaborate to help bring a certain firm to the country, or to help others
compete in a certain market in the world political economy through subsidies and other benefits
(Stevis, Roles of Sates, 2013). States, however, can play the reverse role by competing against a firm
or market. This can take the form of both direct competition, such as through state owned enterprises,
or more indirect methods, subsidizing an opposing industry (Stevis, State Capitalism, 2013).
Relationship of States and TNCs Like the variance in the roles many states take on, the interactions of
states and TNCs can differ greatly. While it depends significantly on the form of capitalism the state
adheres to, the

Surveillance And The Threat Of Terrorism
Surveillance
Over the decades, as technology advanced, surveillance became easier and easier. In the 21st century,
people live in the world of ubiquitous surveillance, where everything becomes collected, saved,
searched, correlated and analyzed. Surveillance generally means to keep close watch over someone or
something. While a root word in surveillance is veil, which portrays imagery as saving face, or hiding.
The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and other federal agencies are engaging in the extensive
surveillance to fight crime and reduce the threat of terrorism. Not only does surveillance fight crime, it
proves the honesty and humility of people in the work office or on the streets. However, surveillance
threatens privacy and liberty because it monitors individuals, meaning that certain information may
not be kept secret. This frightens countless people because the thought of being watched sparks a
controversy of the 4th amendment of the constitution. The 4th amendment protects the right against
unreasonable searches and seizures. Surveillance challenges the privacy and liberty of individuals;
nevertheless, it upholds the protection and security of citizens from terrorism and crime. The main
purpose of surveillance systems is to monitor events from a remote or secret location. The capabilities
of domestic surveillance expanded rapidly in recent years due to the equally rapid spread of new
technologies that facilitate information gathering. However, many of the

How Does Shakespeare Use Gender In Twelfth Night
In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, the main story told is of the battle between silliness (Feste, Maria,
romance, pranks, and drama) and seriousness (Malvolio, dourness, rules, and stresses of life). One
facet of this is gender the main protagonist Viola presents as male for most of the play. Shakespeare,
whether intentionally or not, has shown prime examples of projected identity based on sex, gender
roles, and the power associated with each sex. These messages were revolutionary at the time, and
only in recent decades are people really beginning to examine them, but Shakespeare has been known
to slip messages into his works that were far ahead of his time. Shakespeare uses Viola s identity as a
character in relation to gender roles and gender itself, and Olivia s relationship with her.
Shakespeare has clearly separated almost all elements of the book into two categories; silliness and
seriousness. Viola s gender and presentation would fit into silliness at face value, the changes began
because of a ridiculously dramatic act of love, and Shakespeare uses many lines of dialogue such as
the frivolously dangerous wordplay Viola uses (as described by the Duke in the end, Boy, thou hast
said to me a thousand times / Thou never shouldst love woman like to me. ), which might blow her
cover, to inject more unrealism into the entire situation. However, looking deeper at the subject, Viola
s gender presentation is one of the most ambiguously casted elements of the play. She is only

Year Round Schooling Is Better Than Traditional Schooling

Year round schooling is better than traditional schooling because, the summer retention is much
higher, special education and english language learners benefit much more, end of the year test scores
are higher and the year round school calendar fits our culture more now than it used to with the
traditional school year.
As an education major with a focus in special education, I was trying to figure out what to write and
research for this paper. Starting to look at the the topics list at the bottom was the topic Year Round
Schools. Looking at that and realizing, that sounded like a silly idea when I was a student, why would
I not want a longer summer break. However as I am an educator myself now and realize that a one or
two week break every other month sounds a like terrific idea. Then after researching the topic I
learned that not only is the schedule different but they re many more benefits to year round schools
than their traditional counterparts. Year round school research shows that their children have better
end of the year test scores. They also show that English language learner children and Special
Education children learn at a faster pace than the children at traditional schools with the same
programs. Also the summer break retention rate of what the children learn throughout the year and

These workers may not have anywhere better to work and desperately need the money. This violation
could be resolved by interviewing workers about their jobs and doing research to find out the
conditions of other job opportunities in their area. Another point of view is definitely needed in this
argument.
2. At the end of the essay, the speaker gives only a choice between one or the other solution, leaving
out any other options, which is known as a false dilemma. The speaker states, [t]here are two things
we can do to put an end to this exploitation. We can demand that Cromwell obtain its logo
merchandise only from garment companies with socially responsible labor practices, and we an refuse
to wear or purchase any Cromwell clothing until the college switches to an acceptable apparel
supplier. This is a false dilemma because the speaker does not include any other possibilities. This
hurts the essay because the speaker only gives the audience a limited number of options. The speaker
wants the audience to feel that they only have a limited amount of choices, when in reality, they could
just ignore the problem. Emotive language is another fallacy that the speaker uses. Emotive language
is when the speaker tries to appeal to the audience using peer pressure, flattery, pity, and/or fear. The
speaker states, We have a choice: to do what we can in support of global economic justice, or to
become the oppressor. No one wants to be responsible for the

My Philosophy of Teaching Essay
My Philosophy of Teaching
Education is an important aspect in the lives of all individuals. From the day we are born until the day
we die, we are constantly learning. At a very young age, children begin attending school. Throughout
their educational career, children have many different teachers who hold many different views, beliefs,
and values. Methods of instruction, personalities, and classroom interaction are all unique to the
teacher. Some teachers may come in each day just because it s their job, and they need the paycheck.
Yet, the ones who are there for the success of their students are the ones who truly make a difference.
I believe the success of a student depends tremendously on the teacher. ... Show more content on

Teachers should pass this enthusiasm onto their students and gain their interest in the subject. Children
need teachers who care about them, teachers who love them. When a student knows you care, they are
more likely to succeed.
Teachers should have confidence in their students. They should set high expectations for all students,
and then give them the support and encouragement they need to obtain those expectations. Teachers
should praise students. They need to create a comfortable learning environment where students can
make mistakes. Mistakes are a part of learning. As a child my mother always told me, Practice makes
perfect and If at first you don t succeed, try, try again. At times, students may become frustrated.
Teachers need to encourage their students and give them positive reinforcement. They should help
their students to never give up.
At times, even the best teachers may not be coming through to their students. What may seem like the
perfect lesson plan for one class may not be such a success in another. Yet good teachers have the
ability to recognize this. They monitor and adjust. Teachers need to observe their students to see if the
lesson is coming through to them. If it is not, the teacher should not give up and move on to new
material. They need to adjust, and reteach the lesson in a way that will come though to the

Informative Essay On 2pac
Imagine, walking down the streets of Las Vegas, enjoying your evening with your significant other
when suddenly you hear gunshots. A week later, you discover that one of the greatest rappers of all
time has been murdered. Contrary to popular conspiracy theories, Tupac is not living in Cuba, but was
a victim of gang violence. Lesane Parish Crook otherwise known as Tupac or 2Pac was born on June
16th, 1971. Lesane s mother, Afeni Shakur, was a Black Panther activist. Still to this day, Tupac s
albums including All Eyes On Me are still popular today. Tupac has an estimated 40 million dollar net
worth. On September 7th, 1996 Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight went to a Mike Tyson fight in Las
Vegas. After the fight, Tupac and Knight headed to Club 662, owned by Suge Knight. Around 11 pm,
a white Cadillac pulled up next to them at a stoplight. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
7, 1996, Tupac, Death Row Records kingpin Marion Suge Knight and Suge s gang of Bloods beat up a
Southside Crip named Orlando Baby Lane Anderson in a Las Vegas casino lobby. This was all caught
on security cameras. I believe that Anderson and three other Crips went looking for revenge. A few
hours after the fight, Anderson and a few gang members were driving around the Vegas Strip in a
white Cadillac. While driving, Anderson spotted Tupac in the passenger seat of Suge s BMW.
Anderson saw an opportunity to collect the bounty, so he shot Tupac from the back seat of the
Cadillac. Anonymous sources were confirmed more than a decade later by the eyewitness account of
Anderson s uncle, Southside Crip boss Duane Keffe D Davis, who says he was in the car and handed
Anderson the murder weapon. After the shooting, police informants stated that Suge s gang told
everyone that Tupac was killed by Anderson. Biggie Smalls put a bounty on Suge Knight and Tupac
Shakur s head, and after Tupac fought Anderson after the Mike Tyson fight Anderson believed he
could kill both of them and collect the bounty. I believe there is little mystery

Essay The Puritan s Beliefs on Self Reliance
The Puritan s Beliefs on Self Reliance
Are we or are we not? That is the question. Does the current generation of Americans have the same
values and morals of the Puritans of the 1600 s? Some would say yes and others would say no. This
paper will show both sides of the argument. It will discuss whether or not we share the values of self
reliance and honesty like the Puritans treasured. This essay will discuss the importance of the family
and home to the Puritans and compare that to today s standards. It will also discuss other issues not
listed above. Honesty was an important value of the Puritans. They were a very religious people and it
was a sin to lie. Honesty was stressed to children as they were growing up. In today s ... Show more

In modern America, though, people are not taught to rely on themselves. Many people are homeless
and they rely on the government for money, food, clothes, and homes. They do not go out and take
their life into their own hands. They live their whole life relying on someone else to do the work for
them. It is not fair to the rest of the people that are self reliant and can take care of themselves. The
family and home were probably one of the biggest values of the Puritans. The Puritans stressed
togetherness within the family. They wanted families to be tight. As religious as the Puritans were,
family came before religion. Family life is also important in modern times. People are urged to spend
more time with their families and try to bring them closer together. Children grow up wanting to have
a family of their own they can take care off. It is one of the pleasures of adulthood. Family life has a
key role in today s society, but it definitely does not have the biggest role. Attending church regularly
was very important to the Puritans. They based their lives around their religion. The entire reason the
Puritans came to America was to escape the Catholic Church of England. They believed that if you did
not go to church on a regular basis, you were siding with the devil. It was practically a sin not to go to
church. In modern America, however, attending church regularly is

Workplace Violence Categories
Mathis, Jackson Valentine (2013) provide examples of workplace violence categories as physical
assault, threats, harassment, intimidation, and bullying. These acts are deemed to be violent in nature,
can be directed towards someone at work or on duty and can be instigated by a criminal or a customer.
In my company, I have yet to witness or bear part to any form of physical assault, threats, harassment,
or physical intimidation. I view bullying as the most prevalent workplace violence in my organization.
I define bullying as an intentional violent act either physical or non physical, against a person or a
group of persons which is intended to cause intimidation, mental duress, physical harm or to demean
another person or group of persons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes the bully believes his or her actions are justified as a means of climbing the corporate
ladder. When the word bully is mentioned, many people think of an aggressive, mean person.
However, in my experience and from a managerial/supervisory standpoint, most workplace bullies are
actually non aggressive (from a physical standpoint) but they are extremely aggressive from a non
physical standpoint. For example, the cunning workplace bully employs methods of deception,
misrepresentation of information and intentional misdirection of blame onto another person. These
types of deliberate acts, which are completed in an attempt to gain power, respect or influence, in this
student s opinion can be equal to the more common form of physical bullying. Hananel (2013) reports
that non physical on the job bullying can be seen as a supervisor s verbal abuse or threats, cruel
comments or relentless teasing by a co worker. Hananel (2013) also indicates that employers list the
majority of bullying incidents as verbal abuse, such as shouting, swearing and name calling, along
with malicious gossip, rumors and

Lord Of The Flies Evil Character Analysis
In William Golding s novel Lord of The Flies he shows how evil exists inside of everyone, it is the
situation a person finds themselves in allows evil to grow or be controlled. The three boys are an
example of this. Jack who only thinks about himself he wants everything immediately which makes
his evil grow. Ralph, however, thinks about others but at times can be selfish which can make his evil
grow, but Ralph tries to keep his evil at bay. Simon on the other hand only thinks about others, he does
not think about himself which stops his evil from arising. Therefore, control of the situation is control
of evil self.
To begin with Jack, Jack wants power and leadership. The situation Jack is in makes his evil grow.
Jack is letting the situation control him which is increasing the evil inside of him. The evil inside him
is making him more selfish and violent. For example, at the starting of the novel when Jack had failed
to kill the pig he cries to Ralph, [Jack] tried to convey the compulsion to track down and kill that was
swallowing him up. I went on. I thought, by myself The madness came into his eyes again. I thought I
might kill. (Golding 51). The quote shows how at the starting of the novel Jack had good inside of him
as he had feared killing an animal which makes sense as he is a kid. This shows that Jack was not evil
from the beginning. But the situation and atmosphere increase the evil inside of him when he says, I
thought I might kill this shows how the

The Effects Of Extracurricular Activities On Sports...
Although many theorists criticize that the extracurricular activities takes valuable time from the
family, relaxation and leisure time, especially sport participation requires more and more time due to
its increase in competiveness and amount of practice (Melman et al., 2008; Shaw et al., 1996 in
Fredericks, 2012). In Fredericks study (2012), the unique time requirement in sports participation is
explained as an enforcer to develop even stronger relationships, better refinement of the skills and
most importantly more conscientiousness. The media concentrates on the highly involved students,
which make approximately 3 6% of the entire high school student body, that clock in over 20 h per
week, whereas the average of students participates 7 8 h per week in afterschool program, which
means they stay for less then 1.5 h more after school (Fredericks, 2012). Paradoxically, according to
Mahoney et al. (2006 in Fredericks, 2012) actually the most involved students, at least 20 h/per week,
showed better capability in adjusting to the academically and psychological demands. These results
are only applicable to a very few amount of students and not to the majority of the American
population.
In research, a small correlation between intensity of the extracurricular activity and negative
adjustment has been proven in boys, but overall the achievement pressure made by parents, the
athletes themselves, the society, the century we live in and their surroundings has shown to be much

The Film, Coordinated By Tom Tykwer
Perfume is a dull and sensational story of fixation murder and the mission for a genuinely
extraordinary fragrance.A mix of stunning tension and unparalleled olfactory writing, this abstract
presentation was one of the best overall blockbusters in the mid 80s. The eponymous film, coordinated
by Tom Tykwer.
Perfume is the frightening story of an eighteenth century Parisian vagrant, Jean Baptiste Grenouille.
Jean Baptiste is the primary character to be seen in the film. Scent s legend is malevolent , grimy and
has no exchanges. He acted with his nose which can be appeared in the film with closeups around 27
times. In a film the characters physical appearance, activities and surroundings of the characters give
awesome insight about the attributes of the character. One can thoroughly analyze the characters on
the premise of it. Grenouille and Baldini, the perfumers in the film have an extremely humorous
characters.
Grenouille s life had been a veiled of youth injury. His identity had been incited in his prime life,
particularly amid his initial five years. He was an undesirable Parisian orphan, with no individual
fragrance and with no feeling of belongingness, absence of social cooperations with the outside world,
dismissed without appropriate direction of importance of emotions, and better comprehension of
fundamental information that every individual ought to know. His childhood was covered with lack of
interest from his mates, disregard and psychological mistreatment

  • 2. Analyse the Argument of the Existence of God from... i) Analyse the Argument for the Existence of God from Religious Experience (18) The argument for the existence of God from Religious Experience is a simple one, with only two premises. The first being that some people have, or have had a religious experience, the second premise is that these are only explicable though God, thus leading to the conclusion that God exists. This leads us to question, what exactly are religious experiences? Theologians have struggled for centuries trying to define what a religious experience is, with many believing a religious experience to be a sort of revelation, meaning that God reveals some part of hi nature to the experient. St Thomas Aquinas believed that to be his Revealed Theology , where truths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Swinburne s third type is a strong feeling, a conviction that they were experiencing, even though there is no phenomena surrounding the experience. The penultimate type is witnessing a perfectly normal experience, such as the Grand Canyon, which creates a numinous experience. The final type of experience is in perceiving a very unusual public object, like a miracle, for instance, the resurrection. To help identify a religious experience, William James put forward four characteristics of a typical experience. The first being passivity: how in control the experient is; as whilst you undergo a religious experience, you take on an alternative personality outside of your own, surrendering your own control to God. The second quality is ineffability, where the experient can t quite put the occurrence into words. Another characteristic of a religious experience is the Noetic Quality of said experience. This quality is the knowledge that is gained in a religious experience, knowledge that cannot be gained in a conventional manner, and tells you something that you otherwise wouldn t know. The final quality is transciency, where the time the experience takes doesn t dictate the significance of the experience, as time is altered or distorted in some way, just as in a dream the dream may seem really long, whereas in reality it s only been a few minutes ... • 3. Body Systems Interrelate D1 Analyse how two body systems interrelate to perform named functions The circulatory system and the respiratory system work closely together to ensure that organ tissues and systems receive enough oxygen. Oxygen is required for cellular functions such as cell respiration. This is so the body s organs and cells can work at fully; it is done by releasing chemical energy with in stored foods. The air breathed in and held in the lungs is transferred to the blood. The blood is circulated by the heart, which pumps the oxygenated blood from the lungs to the body organs and returns with deoxygenated blood. Energy metabolism comes in different types such as Anabolism and Catabolism energy. They all make sure that energy breaks down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same happens with Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The blood in the surrounding capillaries has a higher concentration of CO2 than the inspired air due to it being a waste product of energy production. This is when O2 and CO2 pass each other going back around the body systems to the heart. Once this is done the flow goes from Deoxygenated blood to Oxygenated blood. There is a small amount of carbon dioxide and more oxygen in the body because of gases exchange this is where oxygen form the lungs is transferred in to the blood and carried to the heart and when carbon dioxide is carried in to the lungs forms the blood and is exacted outwards by breathing. Mitochondria also need oxygen to create carbon dioxide for the body so the gas exchange can happen again. Outside the body there is a smaller amount of oxygen but it is still higher than CO2. Oxygen is used for cell respiration which is created and found in the mitochondria. The mitochondria need oxygen to make glucose for the body cells and to create carbon dioxide. Glucose is used in the liver to regulate the body s sugar levels. Carbon dioxide is then added to water and then to energy for cell respiration and for the body systems and organs to be able to work. Glucose + Oxygen Carbon Dioxide + Water + Energy Homeostasis means keeping a constant internal environment in the body. Homeostasis reaches from every cell up to the whole of the organs and the systems. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Social Security Trust Vs. Privatization Social Security Trust v. Privatization Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend seems to be toward an increasing percentage of the American public, across party and demographic lines, in favor of strengthening Social Security funding, and a willingness to pay more to preserve and even improve benefits. However, the trend towards privatization of Social Security is also on the rise. What is not clear is whether Americans favor privatization because of fears that the Social Security Trust Fund is living on borrowed time. The Social Security Act (SSA) of 1935 was drafted during the Great Depression as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal. The SSA was an attempt to ... In 2003, Congress added a prescription drug benefit to Medicare (Edwards 431, 540). Since the Social Security Act was signed into law, many politicians have advocated for privatizing Social Security, even though Americans are in favor of Social Security and wish to strengthen the program. The American public strongly supports Social Security, across party and demographic lines. A January 2013, National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) study, Strengthening Social Security: What Do Americans Want?, found that Americans overwhelmingly support Social Security and are willing to pay more to preserve and improve benefits. With more than 59 million or 18% of Americans receiving Social Security benefits, Americans recognize Social Security as a critical program. A large majority of Americans say they do not mind paying Social Security taxes because of the stability and security the benefits provide. These findings hold true across party lines, those polled included 87% of Democrats, 72% of Republicans, and 81% of Independents. 73% of Americans are also willing to pay for Social Security because they value it for themselves and their families. 85% of Americans say Social Security is more important than ever to ensure that the elderly and disabled have dependable income. • 7. Is Meritocracy Is Meritocracy Actually As Fair As It Sounds? Those who deserve to, succeed, and those who succeed, deserve to. People have to earn everything they have and, no matter where they start, as long as they work hard they can get anywhere they want to go. An extreme form of the American Dream . But while it is most definitely all of these things listed above, is a meritocracy actually as fair as it sounds? In order for a meritocracy to work, everyone would have to start on a level playing field in terms of race, wealth, and neighborhood to have the same opportunity to earn their success. But, to get to this point, wealth would have to be redistributed and races would have to be seen as perfectly equal to each other, which seems difficult in the current society of the world where stigmas and stereotypes surround certain races and topics. According to a writer in The Atlantic Monthly, even just the myth of meritocracy, or the relative truth of it, can have a negative effect on colored children. For example, Dasani is an 11 year old African American girl living in a decrepit city run shelter for the homeless in New York (Elliot). It is obviously no place for a child. Dasani, however, is quite smart and is described by her principal as the kind of girl who could be anything even a Supreme Court justice if only she harnesses her gifts early enough . Indeed, Canada is coming to the debate later than many countries. Several countries have debated this issue for many years and have come up with a variety of approaches, ranging from same sex marriage in the Netherlands to the legal recognition of domestic partners, registered partnerships and civil unions in Scandinavia, parts of Europe and parts of the United States. Some details are set out below. In addition to these laws, most provinces and territories have now also legislated to provide some or all of the benefits and obligations of married couples to common law gay and lesbian couples under provincial and territorial laws. Quebec Bill 84 — An Act instituting civil unions and establishing new rules of filiation — was passed by the National Assembly in June 2002. The Act amends the Civil Code and a number of other provincial laws to create a new status of civil union partners (open to both unmarried opposite sex and same sex conjugal partners). Civil union partners have almost all of the same benefits and obligations under provincial law as married couples do, including the legal relationship between the partner and any children. A civil union can be dissolved by a court judgment, a notarized joint declaration (under some circumstances) or upon the death of one of the partners. A partner to a civil union cannot marry without first dissolving the civil union. Well for those people who have a hard time waking up or just wanting to get up at a specific time there was a device invented called the alarm clock. This device was originally invented by ancient Greek philosophers around 250 B.C. and over the years mechanical alarm clocks were invented by Levi Hutchins in 1787 (History of Clocks. (n.d.). Retrieved November 6, 2014.), then came radio alarm clocks invented by James Reynolds (The History of Alarm Clocks {INFOGRAPHIC}. (n.d.). My objective is to write a proposal for option one on the final project, in which I will take a Sony Dream Machine model ICF CS15iP alarm clock and discuss my experience using and interacting with the device. Also I will examine how other people interact and review their experience in using the Dream Machine. The methods I plan on using to accomplish this project will be to explain in detail the ways I interact with the device and go over my experience with it too. The first and second part of the project will be to gather information from various sources such as, manufacturer s manual, Sony s website, and web sites that contains reviews from people that have used or that is still using the Dream Machine. The color red is used to show important moments, presence of spirits, paranormal events, etc. in the movie. Red is used to highlight the most important moments in the movie or just items of interest that the viewer should take note of. From the first scene of the movie you can start to notice the red symbolism. Malcolm and his wife are discussing his awards and it s shown to be invaded inside of a red frame. I noticed that Cole refused to interact with Malcolm in that scene but would ve never done so if they were alone. Another part of the movie that was somewhat confusing to me was if those kids from school were hitting Cole or if it was his mother. Again, the ending of the movie where Cole finally revealed his secret to his mother clarified the whole thing. He explained to her that the ghosts would do that to him. • 13. Cardiac Surgery With Cardiopulmonary Bypass Essay Introduction Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is one of the most widely recognized major surgical procedures worldwide. Renal failure is a noteworthy cause of morbidity and mortality after cardiac surgery.1,2 Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs in about 20 40% of patients3 and is associated with a mortality rate of 8% compared with 0.9% in patients without AKI. AKI requiring hemodialysis in the postoperative period is uncommon (~ 1% to 5%), yet associated with a remarkably high mortality rate of 30% to 60%.4 (11 13). AKI increases the risk for ensuing chronic kidney disease and kidney failure, with its associated morbidity and mortality.5 Clinical prediction tools have been developed to estimate the possibility of cardiac surgery associated AKI (CSAAKI).8 10 These have recognized female gender, impaired left ventricular function, insulin requiring diabetes, emergency surgery, and abnormal baseline renal function as independent predictors of requirement for dialysis.23 Pathophysiological mechanisms of CSAAKI include decreased renal perfusion, lack of pulsatile flow, oxidative stress, hypothermia, atheroembolism, and inflammation 23. The main mechanism of injury is thought to be intraoperative ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).20 Prolonged duration of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and its inflammatory response, and prolonged aortic cross clamping are the leading factors associated with an increased likelihood of cardiac ischemia reperfusion injury.22 Although ... Figurative Language In The Chimney Sweeper If you ve ever seen the movie Mary Poppins you are probably well aware of the Chim Chim Cher ee scene with the dirty and unkept men that are covered in black soot. They dance around and sing merely, but there is a harsher reality to the act of chimney sweeping. Since chimneys are very narrow, children were often sold, by their parents, to chimney owners. They lived, they breathed, they slept, and they played in the treacherous soot. Despite the harsh conditions in which they lived, the children s imagination kept them going through the deadly job. Many remember the decade as the Swinging Sixties, best remembered for the hippies and the Beatles, the Rolling stones and the Summer of Love, drugs, flamboyant fashion, and the permissive society (Fisher 3). Socially, fashion was making a 180 degree turn. The Beatles influenced fashion for many bands. As Garson stated in his book, Out were the matching jackets, ties, and pompadours, in were jeans, vests, and longer hair combed down in the style of the Beatles. (Garson 86). First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy influenced women s fashion a great deal as well. Fashion both followed and predicated political action. (Rielly 75 77). She set the fashion standards for women, and introduced new trends, such as the pillbox hat. Politically, an even that traumatized the American society was President John F. Kennedy s assassination. Lee Harvy Oswald assassinated him on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. One of John F. Kennedy s goals for America was to help reduce poverty. After his murder, President Lyndon B. Johnson quickly jumped into office to help complete his work often known as the Great Society. It was the largest reform since Roosevelt s New Deal. The world is a dark utopian government that manufactures the production of human beings, but along with the totalitarian government push comes isolation, drug abuse, sexual promiscuity, and freedom. Featured in the book heavily is the theme of sexual promiscuity. We are shown how open each character is about their sexual forwardness, but we also see how disconnected sex is with the manufacturing of humans, the idea of sex is used merely as a distraction instead of expressing emotional intimacy for one another. People are seen as being part of a class and each citizen has a certain class of alienation which includes appearance, intellect, and morals. People are usually alienated because of their individuality. According to John the Savage, a character from the book, was alienated in both savage culture and world state culture. He was shown as being different to the indians on the reservation. With the excerpt why wouldn t they let me be the sacrifice? shows that with his appearance compared to the indians of the reservations he was not allowed to participate in some acts of their culture due to the way he looks. When he goes to England he is once again shown as being isolated by wanting to keep true to his savage nature and trying to conform to the world state standards. Another character that portrays alienation is Helmholtz Watson, an alpha plus, who is much smarter and stronger than the other alpha s. This leads him to perform test and experiments that are not accepted by the world state which leads him to exile. This can easily be compared to the totalitarian dictatorship government of North Korea. One can see the changes expected in biomes which will affect where vineyards are located. Areas of tropical rainforest will increase which are unsuitable for grapes as it limits the differential between warm, dry summers and wet cool winter. It would be suggested for vintner s to analyze what their region s climate will transition to, and begin preparations to grow grapes better suited for the environment. Transitioning grape types could be a comparatively inexpensive adaptation to climate change versus moving ones vineyard to a climate best suit for their variety. In addition, moving vineyards could be detrimental to complex ecosystems. It should be noted that grape vines on average live at least 20 years. By 2100, it is possible that the United States could lose up to 81% of its premium winegrape acreage. How Does Shakespeare Use Gender In Twelfth Night In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, the main story told is of the battle between silliness (Feste, Maria, romance, pranks, and drama) and seriousness (Malvolio, dourness, rules, and stresses of life). One facet of this is gender the main protagonist Viola presents as male for most of the play. Shakespeare, whether intentionally or not, has shown prime examples of projected identity based on sex, gender roles, and the power associated with each sex. These messages were revolutionary at the time, and only in recent decades are people really beginning to examine them, but Shakespeare has been known to slip messages into his works that were far ahead of his time. Shakespeare uses Viola s identity as a character in relation to gender roles and gender itself, and Olivia s relationship with her. Shakespeare has clearly separated almost all elements of the book into two categories; silliness and seriousness. Viola s gender and presentation would fit into silliness at face value, the changes began because of a ridiculously dramatic act of love, and Shakespeare uses many lines of dialogue such as the frivolously dangerous wordplay Viola uses (as described by the Duke in the end, Boy, thou hast said to me a thousand times / Thou never shouldst love woman like to me. ), which might blow her cover, to inject more unrealism into the entire situation. • 38. Year Round Schooling Is Better Than Traditional Schooling Year Round Schools Versus Traditional Schools By: Shaun Herman Shaun Herman 4/11/2016 Task 2 Year round schooling is better than traditional schooling because, the summer retention is much higher, special education and english language learners benefit much more, end of the year test scores are higher and the year round school calendar fits our culture more now than it used to with the traditional school year. As an education major with a focus in special education, I was trying to figure out what to write and research for this paper. Starting to look at the the topics list at the bottom was the topic Year Round Schools. Looking at that and realizing, that sounded like a silly idea when I was a student, why would I not want a longer summer break. However as I am an educator myself now and realize that a one or two week break every other month sounds a like terrific idea. Then after researching the topic I learned that not only is the schedule different but they re many more benefits to year round schools than their traditional counterparts. Year round school research shows that their children have better end of the year test scores. They also show that English language learner children and Special Education children learn at a faster pace than the children at traditional schools with the same programs. Also the summer break retention rate of what the children learn throughout the year and then remember is much higher in year round ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Sweatshirts to Sweatshops Essay 1. In the essay Sweatshirts to Sweatshops, many of the universal intellectual standards are violated. To begin with, the speaker talks about the little girl...working hour after hour...trying not to collapse from the heat... and that violates the fairness of the argument. He is trying to manipulate the audience by appealing to their emotional side. This argument is not based in factual evidence, and therefore, could be dismissed by the audience. There may not be a little girl in this exact situation described, and therefore, this statement is irrelevant. This could be corrected by leaving the entire story of the little girl out, or an interview of a child that works in the factory could be conducted giving a first hand look into the ... This violation could be resolved by interviewing workers about their jobs and doing research to find out the conditions of other job opportunities in their area. Another point of view is definitely needed in this argument. 2. At the end of the essay, the speaker gives only a choice between one or the other solution, leaving out any other options, which is known as a false dilemma. The speaker states, [t]here are two things we can do to put an end to this exploitation. We can demand that Cromwell obtain its logo merchandise only from garment companies with socially responsible labor practices, and we an refuse to wear or purchase any Cromwell clothing until the college switches to an acceptable apparel supplier. This is a false dilemma because the speaker does not include any other possibilities. This hurts the essay because the speaker only gives the audience a limited number of options. The speaker wants the audience to feel that they only have a limited amount of choices, when in reality, they could just ignore the problem. Emotive language is another fallacy that the speaker uses. Emotive language is when the speaker tries to appeal to the audience using peer pressure, flattery, pity, and/or fear. The speaker states, We have a choice: to do what we can in support of global economic justice, or to become the oppressor. No one wants to be responsible for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. My Philosophy of Teaching Essay My Philosophy of Teaching Education is an important aspect in the lives of all individuals. From the day we are born until the day we die, we are constantly learning. At a very young age, children begin attending school. Throughout their educational career, children have many different teachers who hold many different views, beliefs, and values. Methods of instruction, personalities, and classroom interaction are all unique to the teacher. Some teachers may come in each day just because it s their job, and they need the paycheck. Yet, the ones who are there for the success of their students are the ones who truly make a difference. I believe the success of a student depends tremendously on the teacher. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers should pass this enthusiasm onto their students and gain their interest in the subject. Children need teachers who care about them, teachers who love them. When a student knows you care, they are more likely to succeed. Teachers should have confidence in their students. They should set high expectations for all students, and then give them the support and encouragement they need to obtain those expectations. Teachers should praise students. They need to create a comfortable learning environment where students can make mistakes. Mistakes are a part of learning. As a child my mother always told me, Practice makes perfect and If at first you don t succeed, try, try again. At times, students may become frustrated. Teachers need to encourage their students and give them positive reinforcement. They should help their students to never give up. At times, even the best teachers may not be coming through to their students. What may seem like the perfect lesson plan for one class may not be such a success in another. Yet good teachers have the ability to recognize this. They monitor and adjust. Teachers need to observe their students to see if the lesson is coming through to them. If it is not, the teacher should not give up and move on to new material. They need to adjust, and reteach the lesson in a way that will come though to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was all caught on security cameras. I believe that Anderson and three other Crips went looking for revenge. A few hours after the fight, Anderson and a few gang members were driving around the Vegas Strip in a white Cadillac. While driving, Anderson spotted Tupac in the passenger seat of Suge s BMW. Anderson saw an opportunity to collect the bounty, so he shot Tupac from the back seat of the Cadillac. Anonymous sources were confirmed more than a decade later by the eyewitness account of Anderson s uncle, Southside Crip boss Duane Keffe D Davis, who says he was in the car and handed Anderson the murder weapon. After the shooting, police informants stated that Suge s gang told everyone that Tupac was killed by Anderson. Biggie Smalls put a bounty on Suge Knight and Tupac Shakur s head, and after Tupac fought Anderson after the Mike Tyson fight Anderson believed he could kill both of them and collect the bounty. Does the current generation of Americans have the same values and morals of the Puritans of the 1600 s? Some would say yes and others would say no. This paper will show both sides of the argument. It will discuss whether or not we share the values of self reliance and honesty like the Puritans treasured. This essay will discuss the importance of the family and home to the Puritans and compare that to today s standards. It will also discuss other issues not listed above. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In modern America, though, people are not taught to rely on themselves. Many people are homeless and they rely on the government for money, food, clothes, and homes. They do not go out and take their life into their own hands. They live their whole life relying on someone else to do the work for them. It is not fair to the rest of the people that are self reliant and can take care of themselves. The family and home were probably one of the biggest values of the Puritans. The Puritans stressed togetherness within the family. They wanted families to be tight. As religious as the Puritans were, family came before religion. Family life is also important in modern times. People are urged to spend more time with their families and try to bring them closer together. Children grow up wanting to have a family of their own they can take care off. It is one of the pleasures of adulthood. Family life has a key role in today s society, but it definitely does not have the biggest role. Attending church regularly was very important to the Puritans. They based their lives around their religion. The entire reason the Puritans came to America was to escape the Catholic Church of England. They believed that if you did not go to church on a regular basis, you were siding with the devil. • 44. Workplace Violence Categories Mathis, Jackson Valentine (2013) provide examples of workplace violence categories as physical assault, threats, harassment, intimidation, and bullying. These acts are deemed to be violent in nature, can be directed towards someone at work or on duty and can be instigated by a criminal or a customer. In my company, I have yet to witness or bear part to any form of physical assault, threats, harassment, or physical intimidation. I view bullying as the most prevalent workplace violence in my organization. I define bullying as an intentional violent act either physical or non physical, against a person or a group of persons which is intended to cause intimidation, mental duress, physical harm or to demean another person or group of persons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes the bully believes his or her actions are justified as a means of climbing the corporate ladder. When the word bully is mentioned, many people think of an aggressive, mean person. However, in my experience and from a managerial/supervisory standpoint, most workplace bullies are actually non aggressive (from a physical standpoint) but they are extremely aggressive from a non physical standpoint. For example, the cunning workplace bully employs methods of deception, misrepresentation of information and intentional misdirection of blame onto another person. These types of deliberate acts, which are completed in an attempt to gain power, respect or influence, in this student s opinion can be equal to the more common form of physical bullying. Hananel (2013) reports that non physical on the job bullying can be seen as a supervisor s verbal abuse or threats, cruel comments or relentless teasing by a co worker. Hananel (2013) also indicates that employers list the majority of bullying incidents as verbal abuse, such as shouting, swearing and name calling, along with malicious gossip, rumors and ... • 45. Lord Of The Flies Evil Character Analysis In William Golding s novel Lord of The Flies he shows how evil exists inside of everyone, it is the situation a person finds themselves in allows evil to grow or be controlled. The three boys are an example of this. Jack who only thinks about himself he wants everything immediately which makes his evil grow. Ralph, however, thinks about others but at times can be selfish which can make his evil grow, but Ralph tries to keep his evil at bay. Simon on the other hand only thinks about others, he does not think about himself which stops his evil from arising. Therefore, control of the situation is control of evil self. To begin with Jack, Jack wants power and leadership. The situation Jack is in makes his evil grow. Jack is letting the situation control him which is increasing the evil inside of him. The evil inside him is making him more selfish and violent. For example, at the starting of the novel when Jack had failed to kill the pig he cries to Ralph, [Jack] tried to convey the compulsion to track down and kill that was swallowing him up. I went on. I thought, by myself The madness came into his eyes again. I thought I might kill. (Golding 51). The quote shows how at the starting of the novel Jack had good inside of him as he had feared killing an animal which makes sense as he is a kid. This shows that Jack was not evil from the beginning. But the situation and atmosphere increase the evil inside of him when he says, I thought I might kill this shows how the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Effects Of Extracurricular Activities On Sports... Although many theorists criticize that the extracurricular activities takes valuable time from the family, relaxation and leisure time, especially sport participation requires more and more time due to its increase in competiveness and amount of practice (Melman et al., 2008; Shaw et al., 1996 in Fredericks, 2012). In Fredericks study (2012), the unique time requirement in sports participation is explained as an enforcer to develop even stronger relationships, better refinement of the skills and most importantly more conscientiousness. The media concentrates on the highly involved students, which make approximately 3 6% of the entire high school student body, that clock in over 20 h per week, whereas the average of students participates 7 8 h per week in afterschool program, which means they stay for less then 1.5 h more after school (Fredericks, 2012). Paradoxically, according to Mahoney et al. (2006 in Fredericks, 2012) actually the most involved students, at least 20 h/per week, showed better capability in adjusting to the academically and psychological demands. These results are only applicable to a very few amount of students and not to the majority of the American population. In research, a small correlation between intensity of the extracurricular activity and negative adjustment has been proven in boys, but overall the achievement pressure made by parents, the athletes themselves, the society, the century we live in and their surroundings has shown to be much more ...
