What Is Language Devoid Of The Social Context Of Its...
To make language devoid of the social context of its creation and use is to dislocate it from which it
derives its meanings. Thus ridding it of its use with the only benefit of understanding what it is made
up of. However, understanding what language is made of and understanding how to use it are two
different things, neither of which will give you a complete understanding of language on its own.
Using Gardner s analogy of language being like a fish you dissect as well as observe within its habitat,
to view language as devoid of its social context is to remove the fish from the ocean, the environment
in which is serves its purpose. In order to understand what forms it, however, removal and dissection
is necessary. Unfortunately, neither ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An opposing argument would be that one s thoughts aren t necessarily used to communicate and yet
they still use language. People talk like others and still each of us has our own unique style (Bakhtin,
as cited in Gee and Hayes 2011, pg. 7). Our immediate surroundings in the early stages of
development shape the language we learn to speak first. Looking at Darwin s theory of evolution
(1859, cited in O Neil 2013, para. 20) and how the finches from the Galapagos Islands were all
divergences of their ancestral species, the language which we develop from our social and cultural
backgrounds evolves (obviously in a much faster process than that of the finches). This is the way
language changes and yet remains the same.
After studying language development in children, Michael Halliday identified seven functions it had
for them. The first four help satisfy physical need and the last three help them understand the
environment.
Language is a communal resource from which we all beg borrow and steal (Gee and Hayes, 2011, pg.
7). It has also been suggested by Gee and Hayes (2011) that it would be highly likely that all human
language developed from one original language. We can see a similar idea in Minna Sundberg s
illustration of the Old World Language Families tree, where Indo European branched off to European,
which then branched off to Germanic, West Germanic, Anglo Frisian and finally English. Even in the
book of Genesis it is written that the whole word had

The Geologic Record
It can be argued by some geologists that significantly more time is lost at bedding planes than is
recorded by the accumulation of sediment and its later lithification into a sedimentary rock. In the
present paper, the continuity of the sedimentary record is investigated. It is hypothesized that
sedimentary strata preserved predominately records episodic sedimentation events and gaps
represented by bedding planes symbolize more time than the preserved strata. The incompleteness of
the geologic record and the role of rare events was studied using data gathered from a variety of
sedimentary outcrops and cores. The author addressed his hypothesis using this collected data in terms
of sediment preservation and represented preservation as a function of two modes of geomorphic
processes: Magnitude and frequency. The author tested his hypothesis using relatively modern storm
events to represent sedimentation, showing how daily processes can distort the geologic record, and
by using ancient examples to illustrate how some storms can be preserved in spectacular condition.
The results of this study support the hypothesis that the stratigraphic record represents episodic
phenomena rather than continuous deposition. When describing fluvial processes, the study was
significant in that infrequent, extremely high magnitude fluvial events in a canyon located below base
level leaves sediment deposits that are preserved for a long period of time. In contrast, frequent floods
occurring the

What Is The Moral Education In The Pardoner s Tale
In The Canterbury Tales the group of pilgrims are traveling together and to make the trip more
enjoyable, the Host suggests that the pilgrims each take turns sharing stories, two a piece on the way
there and two on the way back. In addition, they turned the storytelling into a competition, whoever
tells the story that is the worst must buy dinner among other things. The winner will be judged by the
moral education and entertainment value of the stories. Between The Knight s Tale and The Pardoner s
Tale , The Pardoner s Tale meets the winning criteria the best. The Pardoner s Tale is more
entertaining as well as has a better moral education, despite being told by the least entertaining and
moral man of the pilgrims. The moral education of The Pardoner s Tale is the best of the two stories.
The Pardoner s Tale is following the theme Greed is the root of all evil. In the story, three drunk men
decide to start a bond of brothers and seek out death, who took one of their drunken friends. In the
search of death, they came across an old man, whom they harassed. The old man told them that death
was by a tree, but when the men left to find it, they found treasure instead. In greed, the men killed
each other, resulting in them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pardoner s tale fits this criteria better than The Knight s Tale in every way. In this category, the
Pardoner s hypocrisy helps him tell the story, he knows the sins he describes very well and can
describe them in a better detail than someone who does not. The Pardoner begins the story by telling
the evils of sin, giving multiple examples from the bible of all the things men have done wrong under
intoxication, which is ironic due to his own constant intoxication. The irony adds a humor to the story.
It is humour when directly after explaining the moral of the tsory, he offers pardoning to the pilgrim s
sins, for a pretty penny, of

The Colonization Of African Countries
Africa had been known as the dark continent considering Europeans knew little of its culture or
background. Europeans sought control over Africa because of its natural resources and plantation. By
1914 almost all of Africa was colonized by Europeans, with Britain and France being the biggest
colonizers. The imperialization in Africa by European countries have had a significant impact on the
continent and its indigenous people. The colonization of African countries has had a negative effect, as
the native Africans were treated poorly in the Belgian Congo, resources were exploited for the benefit
of the Europeans and African culture was lost.
In 1884, Europeans met in Berlin, Germany to set rules for dividing Africa into colonies, this
consultation is known as the Berlin Conference. Belgium was one of the smallest European
colonizers, who colonized the large country of Congo. The Europeans believed that the Africans were
inferior and felt the need to civilize their population. Social Darwinism is the classification of humans
into species races based on hair, skin, etc, with no scientific support to this conclusion. According to
this theory the different human species are not equally evolved. The stronger, more evolved species
will dominate, as it is natural for the strong to control the weak. Many of the Europeans believed this
concept, certain they were the dominate race (Pearson 1900). Natives were enslaved, overworked,
exploited in the Belgian Congo. Leopold had

Chest Pain In Pediatric Patients
Many pediatric patients arrive at their primary care provider s office, urgent care, or the emergency
department with complaints of chest pain. According to Hay, Levin, Deterding, and Abzug (2014), 6
in 1000 emergency and urgent care visits are in pediatric population is attributed to chest pain. Despite
the frequency of the presenting symptoms, it is revealed that the majority of children who report chest
pain do not have true cardiac related chest pain. The evaluation and management of chest pain in the
pediatric population depends on the setting in which the patient is seeking care. In all levels of care, a
pediatric patient who reports chest pain must be thoroughly assessed to determine the origination of
the pain. The patient must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

north to south, the island ranges from 60 km to 12 km in distance. Crete is surrounded by the Libyan

The Sun Also Rises A Feminist
The novel The Sun Also Rises written by Ernest Hemingway serves as history s unheard cloud of
aimlessness, war, and the interaction of society. He represents his life as unfulfilled or not [taken]
advantage of in his mid thirties and only fully lived by bullfighters (Hemingway 19). By analyzing
with New Historicism strategies, the troubles of the lost generation are highlighted by real and
fictional relationships, the consequences of feminist revolution, and how common lifestyles of artists
compare to Hemingway s reality.
Feminism was extremely present movement and well known revolution in the 1920 s also know as the

World War I. Both knowing how they felt about each other at the end they can both agree, despite the

Leonardo Da Vinci Is Famous As A Painter, Sculptor And
Leonardo Da Vinci is famous as a painter, sculptor and inventor. In reality he was so much more, with
the range of topics in his arsenal of knowledge being anatomy, zoology, botany, geology, optics,
aerodynamics and hydrodynamics to name a few. He did play a large role in the development of
knowledge about anatomy and the human body. He was one of the greatest anatomists of his time,
although unrecognized for it during his lifetime.
Anatomical studies were primarily for the purpose of better depiction of the human body and
presumably went no further than a study of the superficial structures. Da Vinci s acquaintance with
anatomy in the beginning would be that of the artist, and it must be remembered that his fame was
gained primarily as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Ochenkowski, 199)
The earliest anatomical drawings by Leonardo are attributed to 1487. On the basis of these drawings
certain facts become manifest. It is apparent that his knowledge of anatomy was what he had acquired
by reading traditional writers such as Avicenna and Mundinus, by some animal dissection and by
surface inspection of the living human. (Morley, 554)
With his return to Florence, Leonardo again took up his anatomical studies, and it appears that for the
first time he had access to a reasonably large amount of dissection material, obtained at the Hospital of
Santa Maria Nuova. As the dates of his drawings indicate, he had further dissection specimens
available to him, although whether he during this Florentine period ever became the possessor of an
entire cadaver there is no certainty. At the beginning of this period he was still an amateur in the
anatomical discipline, and his remarkable observations emphasized his genius. It is wondered how
much dissection Da Vinci actually did and despite his remarkable observations of arteriosclerosis,
indicative of close observation of the arterial system, it was thought that Leonardo s used of animal
materials and his attempted to fit them to man which his how he came up with a five lobed liver.
Another characteristic of the period and one which indicates that Leonardo was yet primarily the

Eating Gilbert Grape Character Analysis
What is actually eating Gilbert Grape and Who helps him stop getting eaten? Many people would
argue from their personal perspectives. They might say Bonnie (Gilbert s mother) or Arnie (Gilbert s
brother) is eating Gilbert Grape, but the majority of people will probably agree that Becky is the person
helps Gilbert change.By eating I mean what is stressing him out.My opinion is that the death of his
father Albert is what is eating Gilbert Grape and Becky helps him change.I belive that if Albert hadn t
hanged himself in the basement, he would nt have to take his responsibilities. Albert Grape hanged
himself in the basement of their house. In the movie Gilbert asks Arnie to help Tucker with the planks
they were using to fix the foundation of the floor. In response Arnie says dad is in there and grabs his
necklace and makes it look like he hanged himself.Later on when they go to Tod Carver s funeral
there is a scene where they show Arnie playing with grass near a tombstone that has the name Albert

The upcoming movie trailers we get before the start of every feature can either be a great advantage or
a great disadvantage. I have complained more than once about how the trailer ruined what otherwise
would have been a great scene simply because we d already seen it. Spoiler alert much? Or the trailer
looks so great! Just so amazingly awesome that this is definitely the movie we cannot miss...only to be
hit with crippling disappointment that the movie is 95% horrible and the 5% of the good stuff was
what pretty much made up the trailer. Or we have a movie like 10 Cloverfield Lane. Where the trailer
gives us so little to go on we are intrigued. I couldn t even find a satisfying enough summary for the
movie. When we get a teaser trailer like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

crutches into a shank all for the sake of escaping. We need more female role models like this. Emmett

relief he gave Michelle someone to conspire with. And then there s Howard. Goodman came out on
top as the very heart of this movie with Howard s constantly changing motives. Throughout the whole

Schindler s List Analysis
Schindlers list so we just watched the schindlers list. The movie in all was great. At the beginning, I
wasnt sure if I would get into it. I was wrong. I didnt really know what to think about Oscar, I believe
he was way different at the beginning of the movie. Defenitly had a different perspective of him of
first, he only really focused on himself and getting money. A bit selfish. I think deep down he was a
good man at heart. He defenitly dealed with things a lot better than others did. The other man was
horrible he had no empathy what so ever for other people. Not even children. Sometimes there was no
reason behind killing innocent people, he did it simply because he felt like it. There was a time when
schindler actually tried to prevent him from killing people without thinking. The bad guy said that
killing meant he had power, but schindler said that having the ability too kill and not doing so but
forgive is real power. The bad guy didnt really get it at first and just kind of laughed at him. The next
day I think he kind of understood it better, and actually even showed ... Show more content on

Much Ado About Nothing Humanism
The film Much Ado About Nothing, based on Shakespeare s play of the same name, includes many
characteristics of the Renaissance. One characteristic of the Renaissance is that it deals with logic,
reason, and rationality and is based on humanism. The Renaissance focused on worldly aspects and
the individual. The film shows this as it does not deal with supernatural or fantastical aspects and
rather focuses on every day, natural, and normal activities and struggles that humans experience such
as marriages and love lives. Another aspect shown in the film is proportion. The buildings, gardens,
and architecture are all made according to specific proportions so that they look perfect and ideal.
Many characters in the play also look perfect and ideal.

Similarities And Differences Between Englinese Food And...
Indonesian and Hong Kong Chinese Cuisine: Similar yet Different

============================================================
As a Chinese descendant Indonesian native (印尼华人), I have experienced and enjoyed a lot of
Chinese Indonesian food (Tionghoa cai). Having been eating the cuisine for approximately my entire
life, it is no wonder that I grow an ever lasting attachment to it. Then suddenly, I was being cut off
from this connection whence I came to Hong Kong. After around three months living in Hong Kong,
the longing feeling for home food is still at large at my daily routine. This happens because Hong
Kong Chinese cuisine (香港菜) and Tionghoa Cai are not exactly alike. There are some difference
taking place when I compare these two cuisines. This being said, however, does not mean that they are
completely different. They have their own similarities. Therefore, I still manage to accept and even
sometime like Hong Kong food yet it still cannot replace the one and only Chinese food that I grew up
with, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First and foremost is that both cuisines take the importance of umami (鲜味) flavour to the plates.
Umami flavour here, which in Indonesian called gurih, is essential to the cooking because it created a
sense of pleasantness that cannot be achieved by any other four basic tastes. I know this by the fact
that a Chinese free of additive MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) food cooked in my uncle s home in
Causeway Bay is simply different from the HKUST LG7 canteen Chinese food, which I presume
using additive MSG. The later one of course tingling my palate better than the former. The same
phenomena also occur in my home country when I compared home cooking and Chinese restaurant
cooking. But, never mind my home cooking because umami flavour is common and essential to define

Hot Air Balloon In A Wall Of Fire Rising
A massive, air filled balloon wandering mindlessly in the sky thousands of feet high is likely what
comes to mind when you think of a hot air balloon, but this is not the case in the story A Wall of Fire
Rising. In this story, the hot air balloon mentioned has such a deeper meaning to Guy. Characteristics
of a hot air balloon include being filled with air, but hollow, free flying, and non stationary. These four
characteristics define the symbol in a whole other light; they describe hopefulness, trapped, destined,
unattainable freedom and escape. As the story evolves Guy s perspective and the meanings on the
symbol changes as well.

As hopeful as Guy was, is anything he was trying to accomplish even in his reach? All the things he
wants to do for him and his family seem so farfetched; it s questionable where this hope even comes
from. When the Haiti got their freedom from the French, Guy mistakenly took this notion as a
beginning to freedom. He was stuck in a predestined future; he was poor and without a job. He was
hopeful to have his name on the job list because this meant an opportunity. As time went by, he
realized the hope was back up nothing. He was so far buried down on the job list that it was nearly
impossible to ever get out of the situation he was stuck in. Throughout the whole story he was the
most hopeful person, and it was easily seen by his determination and effort. He has high hope for a
job, freedom, escape and an opportunity even for his family. As the story developed, he became weary.
He sees all the unachieved hopes he had was pointless. He became hopeless and trapped inside his
destined fate. He was stuck inside a life that didn t give him opportunities, second chances, promises,
freedom or escape. He lived the life in the same shoes his father did. Ultimately every factor he tries to
accomplish backfires and he s trapped back at square one. He hoped for a better life apart of the life he
saw growing up with his father. This, as a matter of fact, changed nothing for Guy; he was buried

This copy of the data item is where all locks are applied. The concurrency controller should look to
this copy to determine if any locks are held.
Several variations of distinguished copy:
1. All distinguished copies reside on the same node: Primary Site
2. Distinguished copies may reside on different sites: Primary Copy
There are problems with this approach: o What if the primary site fails or if the node where the
primary copy resides fails? o One solution is to designate a backup site that will automatically take

Another overall approach (aside from distinguished copy), is to use a Voting protocol: To lock a data
item:
0. Send a message to all nodes that maintain a replica of this item.
1. If a node can safely lock the item, then vote Yes , otherwise, vote No .
2. If a majority of participating nodes vote Yes then the lock is granted.
3. Send the results of the vote back out to all participating sites.
With the voting approach, nodes can fail and recover while allowing transaction processing to

Beach Descriptive Essay
After lazily waking up, my family and I head to the beach to enjoy the brisk day. It s only around
seventy five degrees, but that doesn t falter our excitement for the beach. The sun shines through the
clouds as we head down to pick a spot. The waves are calm and inviting as we lay our stuff down. The
wind is moving through the beachgrass like a quiet whisper. The seagulls caw, and attempt to steal the
snacks we brought. There s some kids playing in the water, but more are playing in the sand since the
water s so cold. Days like this are quite typical at the beach in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
In Hilton Head, near Coligny Beach, the small village where we stay is quite somnolent. It seems like
no one is ever awake before 9am. In the center of the sleepy town there s a Piggly Wiggly. Everyone
goes in there to get their groceries and beach supplies. Next to it there s an ice cream shop, the Frozen
Moo, which has some of the best ice cream I ve ever had. The shop has at least ninety different flavors
from Apple Pie to Rainbow Sherbet. There s a mural on the wall of cows surfing at the beach with
brightly colored chairs and tables; going along with the cow theme, there s even a life size replica of a
cow that they dress up for holidays. When walking into the town center, the beach is right across from
it. The smell of the ocean air and breeze coming through the town almost hypothesizes you to move
towards the waves. Since it s fairly cold in the morning, no one is ever there.

normal highlights. To achieve this seamless look, put a little bit of hair in foil allowing just a little

Red Gloss
This technique will help redheads to get vibrant colors without requiring high maintenance that
redheads usually have to deal with.
Begin with subtle highlights, then little by little, move up to the color you desire, making sure not to

The International Scene Of The United States
Due to the effects of Hollywood, space has often been described as the final frontier. While many may
believe in this, in all actuality the last great frontier remains here on earth. This frontier lies just below
the water s surface, and to which the discussion of ownership is remains just as murky as its depths.
Interests in the cultivation of the ocean has grown steadily over the more recent decades as more and
more nations have claimed exclusive use of certain areas of the high seas. Traditionally while many
have enjoyed vastly unhinged freedoms in regards to fishing many coastal nations have extended their
exclusive fishing rights to nearby areas of the ocean, and now these same nations have begun to claim
exclusive control of the seabed or continental shelf. This article will examine how these claims
influence the international scene, explore the legality of the claims, and finally will take on the role of
mediator by examining a proposal in regards to future control of the seabed with a special focus on the
actions of the United States at this time. While the topic of seabed control may seem like a pressing
matter, it wasn t voiced until president Truman in 1945. At this time Truman declared, the national

Success Is An Important Aspects Of Success
My ideal of success is setting and accomplishing goals you have set for yourself. Success can be
achieved through determination, staying focused, and overcoming obstacles. Determination is a
quality that makes you continue trying. I feel determination is an important aspect of achieving
success because staying determined to achieve a goal, gets you one step closer to being successful in
the goal you ve set for yourself. I was able to achieve my goal of becoming a good basketball player,
through determination. I started basketball when I was 12 years old, with no experience. I was scared
to get into something totally different than the usual sports I played but wanted to achieve and be
successful as a player and a teammate, so I started asking for feedback on everything I did, like
dribbling and shooting hoops. I made sure I was at every practice and game with a positive attitude
and ready to learn. I also asked for coaching assistance and practiced once a week with a coach, in
order to strive at being the best player I could be. A few months went by and my routine of practicing
every day, asking for feedback, and staying determined to be better, paid off, I was not only a better
player, but I also became the teams MVP. Another aspect of being successful is staying focused. The
word focused means to direct time and attention to a limited number of issues. An example of
someone who is staying focused, in order to achieve being successful would be my 15 year old brother

Games, by Suzanne Collins, and it is a prime example of the dystopian society the book is set in.
Another book set in a dystopian society is Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. The Hunger Games
is a book about a society where every year, 24 people are sent to fight to the death in the Hunger
Games. Lord of the Flies is about a big group of young children getting trapped on an island and
having to figure out how to survive on their own without any adults. Both the novel Lord of The Flies
and the book The Hunger Games present societies that are vicious and cruel, in similar settings, even
though there are some differences between the two stories. One similarity between both books is the
use of fire. At the beginning of Lord of the Flies fire is used to try to give a signal to passing ships that
there are children trapped on the island. If a ship comes near the island they may not be able to notice
us. So we must make smoke on top of the mountain. We must make a fire (33). At the beginning of
The Hunger Games fire is used to gain the Capitol s attention during the ceremony where all tributes
ride on chariots. I want the audience to recognize you when you re in the arena, says Cinna dreamily.
Katniss, the girl who was on fire (67). In both situations, fire is used to gain attention of people who
will be able to help them in the future, whether it s giving them a gift during the Games, or rescuing
them. However, later on in the stories fire is used differently. At the end of Lord of the Flies, Jack s
group uses fire to try to burn down the forest in order to find and kill Ralph. The fire was a big one
and the drum roll that he had thought had left so far behind was nearer (182). This quote is from a part
when Ralph is hiding in the currently burning down forest, trying to escape from Jack. In The Hunger
Games, fire is used to burn down part of the arena for the Games, in order to bring Katniss closer to
the other tributes. This fire is designed to flush us out, to drive us together (173). One difference
between the two books is the idea of unique appearances. In Lord of the Flies, there is the

Mental Health And Poverty
Poverty and Health
Introduction
On any given day, approximately 3 billion people in the world live on less than $2.50 a day, while
approximately 1.5 billion people live off less than $1.25 (Do something). Living off such conditions
can negatively affect individuals not only physically, but also cognitively, socially, and emotionally.
Poverty can also leads to many adverse outcomes such as poor nutrition, low weight, chronic illness,
and even death. While studying poverty in America, researchers have outlined the relationship
between poverty and health, discovering negative consequences pertaining to mental health, prenatal
health, and access to medical treatment.
Mental Health
Mental health is often regarded as the well being of an individual socially, emotionally, and
psychologically that is dynamically influenced by physical, social, and environmental factors (WHO).
When studying the prevalence of mental illness, recent research has indicated varying patterns among
various social classes. Because of this, researchers were able to connect poverty and mental health,
indicating that individuals living in low socioeconomic or homeless conditions pose a greater risk for
developing a mental illness.
While studying the relationship between mental illness and poverty, researchers have found substantial
evidence supporting the predisposition among children in low income households. Researchers found
that children of low income families demonstrate high levels of conduct

Frankenstein Gothic Literature Essay
The novel Frankenstein falls under two different genres of literature: Gothic novel and Science fiction;
however, some people consider it a Romance novel or Horror fiction. Mary Shelley, author of
Frankenstein, was 18 years old when she wrote the book in 1816. The book was first published in
1818 and revised in 1831. Mary Shelley was born in 1797. She was the second daughter of a feminist
philosopher, educator, and writer Mary Wollstonecraft; but the first child of the philosopher, novelist,
and journalist William Godwin. Coming from the letters of William Godwin s housekeeper and nurse
Louisa Jones, Mary s early years were filled with joy and happiness. Mary was educated very little,
her father tortured her in a wide range of subjects. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After her husbands death she was determined to live by her pen and for her son, but financially she
was precarious. On July 23, 1823 she went back home to England and stayed with her father and step

were filled with illness. In 1839 she struggled with headaches and paralysis in some parts of her body.
Having to suffer from that it prevented he from reading and writing. She died February 1, 1851 at
Chester Square at the age of fifty three due to a brain tumor. On the first anniversary of her death the
family opened her box desk, and inside they found locks of her dead children s hair, a notebook she
rationed with Percy, and a copy of his poem Adonïs with one page folded round a silk parcel that was
with some of his apse and what was left of his heart. Frankenstein s content is about a doctor whose

of science he spent months trying to create life by using old body parts. One night, in his hidden
apartment, he brought his creation to life. He was the first to create a monster who was tolerant,

Desdemona Is To Blame In Shakespeare s Othello
I do think it is their husbands faults / if wives do fall, Emilia says to Desdemona the night of their
murders (4.3.82 83). However Desdemona goes and passively takes blame and only Emilia follows
her ideology and fights back against the men. While both characters have their own distinct
personalities, their choices boil mostly down their contrary senses of loyalty and justice. In
Shakespeare s Othello, although Emilia and Desdemona are both characterized as loyal and judicious,
through their differing statuses, opinions of men, and trust in their husbands, Shakespeare shows
Emilia to be more honorable.
Desdemona, young and rich, is accustomed to respect but not freedom, while Emilia is of a much
lower class and sees fewer consequences if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Emilia enters Desdemona and Othello s bedroom upon hearing Desdemona s voice, she finds a
dying Desdemona. When Emilia questions her about who killed her, Desdemona responds, Nobody; I
myself. Farewell (5.2.125). Despite the clear fact that Othello killed her, Desdemona refuses to sell
him out even on her deathbed. In this scene, Desdemona seems desperate, as if she knows her fate but
still wishes to save someone. The closest person to her is Othello and knowing that he will certainly be
killed for murdering her, Desdemona shares her helping personality one more time and tries to spare
Othello. Desdemona places the blame on herself as she dies as she will be unable to face any more
consequences. Even though Othello was driven to hate Desdemona, going so far as hitting her and
actually killing her, Desdemona is able to judge his character and knows he still loves her and is
worthy of her loyalty. Desdemona s focus on loyalty contrasts with how Emilia believes justice to be
of more importance. After Othello kills Desdemona, Emilia, realizing she has proof of Iago s guilt,
knows she is the only one who can reveal the truth. Despite Iago s knife to her throat, Emilia says, I
will speak as liberal as the north / Let heaven, and men, and devils, let them all, / all,

Achilles The Real Hero In The Iliad
The Iliad, a series of epic poems originated from Homer and rewritten by Robert Lattimore, chronicles
three main characters: Achilles, Hector, and Agamemnon. All three of these courageous men share
common traits which variate with their roles in the war effort. Of the three, two are clearly heroes
whilst one can almost be considered a villain. Therefore, as seen through quotes from the Iliad the real
hero becomes quickly identified. Achilles has been considered the greatest hero of the Greeks in the
Iliad for numerous valid reasons. Similarly, Achilles not only stays humble, but extremely courageous.
Waiting patiently for Hector, Achilles says, No man so long as I am alive above Earth... and see
daylight shall lay the weight even if you mean Agamemnon. (1.88 90) In this statement, Achilles says
that no one should ever have power over him. So, must one be called of no account and a coward if I
must carry out every order you may happen to give me.... (6.293 303) Clearly, he fears no one and
does not understand the meaning of failure. Achilles constantly acts as man of fierce strength and
courage. Tested Achilles spitefulness nature, elicits at times, cruel ... Show more content on

The lack of compassion needed to say such a thing to a grieving father remains incomprehensible. He
also said, Never let me find you again, old sir, near our hollow ships, neither lingering now, nor
coming again after. (6.106 120) He explains to the father that if he ever sees him again, he will kill
him on sight. Agamemnon s strength and leadership abilities could promote him to be a great leader,

AAnalysis On Wordpress And Plugin Libraries
Conclusion
Sense its conception WordPress has managed to retain much of features and philosophies that have
made it very attractive to so many users such as its intuitive user interface. Its ease of use typically
makes it one of the first systems even most reluctant professionals explore. It is by far one of the
simplest systems to learn while still providing many easy to integrate features through its robust theme

Rejecting the Myth of Colorblindness in Education
Colorblindness is a defect in the perception of colors, caused by a deficiency in specialized cells in the
retina that are sensitive to different colors. The term is often used today during political discourse,
often by members of some factions of liberalism, when claiming that one s race should be irrelevant to
any decision making process. It is a form of moral posturing; that one should see an individual as
simply an individual, but not as part of any larger group or culture. As if this philosophy will enable us
to bridge any gaps between races, this thought attempts to focus on how we are all the same, rather
than how we differ. Teachers and administrators are required to complete coursework pertaining to
multicultural education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Christina Judith Hein, in Color Blindness vs. Race Matters claims that a common goal
cannot be that every individual is treated the same, regardless of their race, gender, or age, but rather,
these differences require different responses within the social framework with certain norms and
values. Reactions to an individual must be specific to that individual s needs. In the collateral
collectivist cultures (African American, Hispanic and Asian), emphasis is placed on the family, above
all else. This means that in these cultures, even education is second to the needs of a family. When
teaching children from these cultures, it is important not be ethnocentric, but rather understand the
structure of their cultures. As teachers, we cannot be colorblind; for it is a disservice to those we teach.
Hatred, abuse, social injustice, and general dislike of an individual or group will never be controlled or
extinguished through any means of education or political mandate. These terrible practices are part of
the human frailty of life, and can be found among every ethnicity and culture. While it should never be
condoned, it cannot be eradicated. In The Multicultural Cult, Thomas Sowell argues that cultural
differences matter and always have. He claims that the multicultural cult is one that believes it can
improve the education and economic status of a group simply by immersing them in another s culture.
Trying to equate colorblindness with

Sport Enhancement Drugs
Steroids in Sports: Exploratory Essay The sports world has changed drastically over the past 10 years.
The use of steroids has risen within that amount of time and it has changed the view of sports and the
game itself. As a fan of all sports, it interests me why athletes feel like it s ok or acceptable to take
drugs to enhance their performance on the field of play. Athletes are always looking for ways to
improve their skills on and off the field. With the use of steroids, athletes everywhere, not just well
know or popular athletes are putting their entire career on the line with steroid use. The use of steroids
and other substances to enhance sports performance has risen to an all time high over the last few
years. Steroids are available to everyone, not just athletes since steroids are used for other uses, for
example in cattle, farmers are injecting their cattle, especially males, with steroids to make them
bigger and increase the amount of meat that you can get from one cow. Steroids are mainly used for
building muscle mass at a rapid pace and it allows people to work out longer or lift heavier weights for
a longer amount of time allowing the body to grow faster. Skepticism in baseball started back in the

Essay On Corneal Ectasia
ECM proteins are known to play a significant role in the maintenance and preservation of tissue
ultrastructure and biological function. This study investigates the potential application of leveraging
these roles of ECM for structural reinforcement of the cornea to tackle the clinically relevant
challenges of corneal ectasia. We evaluated the benefits of ECM via biomechanical, thermal,
ultrastructural and gene expression characterization, by treating enzyme digested corneas with ECM
conditioned media. ECM treatment demonstrated an increase in Young s modulus on the KC corneas.
Moreover, it restored thermal stability, and regulated gene expression of corneal stromal cells. We

In the native cornea, the proteoglycans containing chondroitin sulfate chains plays an important role
on regulating collagen size and inter fibrillar spacing [43]. In this ex vivo model, KC corneas have
larger inter fibrillar spacing and fibril diameter, which could be attributed to the degradation of
chondroitin sulfate chains via enzymatic action, thus weakening inter and intra fibrillar collagen
binding. The loss of inter fibrillar collagen binding results in lower collagen fibrillar density.
Meanwhile, the weakened intra fibrillar collagen binding causes loosening of the tight packing in
individual collagen fibrils, thereby changing the collagen fibril diameter distribution. ECM treatment
restored the fibril density and altered the fibril diameter distribution. Treatment with different ECM
groups (COR, CART, LN) resulted in different fibril sizes and density distributions. The differences
observed after treatment could potentially be attributed to the varying biological components in the
tissues from which the ECMs were extracted. While dissimilar in the ultrastructures produced, all
ECM treatment groups restored mechanical properties of the cornea equally. Tensile strength is an
important parameter for evaluating crosslinking efficiency, to ensure that the corneal stroma can resist
deformation due to intraocular pressure. The enzyme activity decreased the tensile strength of KC
corneas due to the degradation of proteoglycans,

Murasaki s Treatment Of Women In The Tale Of Genji
The Heian period lasted from 794, when the capital of Japan was moved from Nara to Heian kyō, to
1185, when Minamoto Yoritomo took power. This time is known for the culture of the aristocracy,
which placed a great deal of importance on aesthetic refinement. The importance of Chinese during
this time should also be noted. Chinese was the language of government, philosophy, and educated
men. It was considered improper for women to learn and use. In addition, while a man was expected
to study poetry in Chinese and compose it in Chinese and Japanese, fiction was considered beneath
them. Because of this, early prose fiction in Japanese was a matter mainly for women.
The Tale of Genji is the world s oldest novel. It was written in Japan during the early 11th century, the
peak of the Heian Period, by a woman known as Murasaki Shikibu. I say known as because her real
name is unknown. Murasaki comes from the heroine of The Tale of Genji and Shikibu from her father
s position, Shikibu meaning Bureau of Ceremonial. Her father was Fujiwara no Tametoko, at one time
governor of Harima, Echizen, and Echigo. When exactly The Tale of Genji was written is not known.

Forgiveness in Post-Genocide Rwanda
As said in Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in
Christ forgave you. After the genocide, which took the lives of countless loved ones, Rwandans re
found their faith in order to forgive their wrongdoers. Moreover, many of the Rwandan s needed to
forgive each other for their crimes in order to deal with the pain of losing their family members.
Rwanda is a small country where the individuals depend upon each other for the basic needs in life.
Once the genocide had ended, the government needed its citizens to cooperate with each other and
forgive in order to restore peace to the country. For the Rwandans, forgiveness is a way to self heal,
reconnect with God and to help the government become one again.
In the African nation of Rwanda, two tribes started a genocide which took the lives of more than
800,000 people. The Hutus and the Tutsis were enemies for generations; however the everyday
bickering and blank threats snowballed into a catastrophe. The genocide spread throughout the country
with overwhelming speed and violence. Everyone, from average citizens to high standing priests, took
part in murdering their neighbors and friends. After years of murders and torture, the Tutsis took
control of Rwanda in July of 1994 and ended the genocide. Afterwards, citizens started to seek
revenge and closure for their loved ones who had been taken from them.

Jewish Resistance Essay
Resistance, in many ways, was almost impossible for Jewish people. It was also extremely difficult for
citizens in the Nazi controlled countries. There was very little access to weapons. The Germans also
made extremely hard to move about freely. Furthermore, open conflict was not a successful
alternative, as it most often resulted in death. However this did not stop the Jewish people in fighting
for their lives. Resistance took many forms. For some simply living their normal life by going to
secret schools or hidden Synagogues was a form of resiting the Nazis anti Semitic regime. For other
resistance took a violent form, which could range fro simple self defence to planned attacks on the

There is definitely more the Jewish people could have done in order to resist against the Nazi regime.
However it is very unlikely that they could have significantly affected the Nazi soldiers enough to
force change. A total of about 12.5 million soldiers fought for the German army during WW2. Even
the amount of total Jews living in Europe (8 million) does not come close to the number of enlisted
German soldiers. This meant that even if the Jews made more efforts in resisting the Germans it would
still likely be very ineffective. However resisting was still a very courageous effort that helped many
Hews survive and gave all Jews a small sense of hope. Almost 60% of the Jewish population was
brutally slaughtered during WW2 although if it was not for the numerous attempts in resisting the
Germans this number could have been far greater. When thinking about Resistance during the
Holocaust we should not dwell on how little or insignificant it might appear to have been. We should
give credit to the Jewish people given the circumstances they faced. It was amazing that any act of
resistance occurred at all. The acts of resistance performed by the Jews should be greatly admired as
they made great efforts against the odds. However some people tend to overlook these achievement

the food chain or the circle of life and how it ties into other events occurring right now. It has been just
a coincidence that during this period of time while taking this environment class that the hurricanes in
the southern states and islands have occurred which have had a tremendous impact on our
environment. The last topic that I want to discuss is how this environmental class and the simple effort
of informing myself has changed my perspective of every animal s purpose on this planet, and finding
a new respect for these beautiful creatures that we share the world with.
When you think of a food chain, you automatically know that humans are at the top, which still holds
true, however myself and probably many other people only associate ourselves as the dominant
species along with other animals such as wolves, bears etc. being the primary consumers. In reality,
theres so many more levels on the food chain, making it a lot more complex system than it seems. You
may ask why this is important or why I am even talking about it, and it the simple fact that I find
myself guilty of being so selfish and not thinking about the bigger scheme of things. By learning how
other animals interact in the lower part of the food chains gives you a new found respect for the food
that you eat, along with a newfound respect for the animals themselves. Us humans being the top
predators, we don t think about how polluting the areas around us, and causing the air to be toxic
affects these animals, even as little as bugs. However, those little bugs are what fuels other animals
higher up on the food chain and eventually supplies us

  • 2. What Is Language Devoid Of The Social Context Of Its... To make language devoid of the social context of its creation and use is to dislocate it from which it derives its meanings. Thus ridding it of its use with the only benefit of understanding what it is made up of. However, understanding what language is made of and understanding how to use it are two different things, neither of which will give you a complete understanding of language on its own. Using Gardner s analogy of language being like a fish you dissect as well as observe within its habitat, to view language as devoid of its social context is to remove the fish from the ocean, the environment in which is serves its purpose. In order to understand what forms it, however, removal and dissection is necessary. Unfortunately, neither ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An opposing argument would be that one s thoughts aren t necessarily used to communicate and yet they still use language. People talk like others and still each of us has our own unique style (Bakhtin, as cited in Gee and Hayes 2011, pg. 7). Our immediate surroundings in the early stages of development shape the language we learn to speak first. Looking at Darwin s theory of evolution (1859, cited in O Neil 2013, para. 20) and how the finches from the Galapagos Islands were all divergences of their ancestral species, the language which we develop from our social and cultural backgrounds evolves (obviously in a much faster process than that of the finches). This is the way language changes and yet remains the same. After studying language development in children, Michael Halliday identified seven functions it had for them. The first four help satisfy physical need and the last three help them understand the environment. Language is a communal resource from which we all beg borrow and steal (Gee and Hayes, 2011, pg. 7). It has also been suggested by Gee and Hayes (2011) that it would be highly likely that all human language developed from one original language. We can see a similar idea in Minna Sundberg s illustration of the Old World Language Families tree, where Indo European branched off to European, which then branched off to Germanic, West Germanic, Anglo Frisian and finally English. Even in the book of Genesis it is written that the whole word had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Geologic Record It can be argued by some geologists that significantly more time is lost at bedding planes than is recorded by the accumulation of sediment and its later lithification into a sedimentary rock. In the present paper, the continuity of the sedimentary record is investigated. It is hypothesized that sedimentary strata preserved predominately records episodic sedimentation events and gaps represented by bedding planes symbolize more time than the preserved strata. The incompleteness of the geologic record and the role of rare events was studied using data gathered from a variety of sedimentary outcrops and cores. The author addressed his hypothesis using this collected data in terms of sediment preservation and represented preservation as a function of two modes of geomorphic processes: Magnitude and frequency. The author tested his hypothesis using relatively modern storm events to represent sedimentation, showing how daily processes can distort the geologic record, and by using ancient examples to illustrate how some storms can be preserved in spectacular condition. The results of this study support the hypothesis that the stratigraphic record represents episodic phenomena rather than continuous deposition. When describing fluvial processes, the study was significant in that infrequent, extremely high magnitude fluvial events in a canyon located below base level leaves sediment deposits that are preserved for a long period of time. In contrast, frequent floods occurring the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. What Is The Moral Education In The Pardoner s Tale In The Canterbury Tales the group of pilgrims are traveling together and to make the trip more enjoyable, the Host suggests that the pilgrims each take turns sharing stories, two a piece on the way there and two on the way back. In addition, they turned the storytelling into a competition, whoever tells the story that is the worst must buy dinner among other things. The winner will be judged by the moral education and entertainment value of the stories. Between The Knight s Tale and The Pardoner s Tale , The Pardoner s Tale meets the winning criteria the best. The Pardoner s Tale is more entertaining as well as has a better moral education, despite being told by the least entertaining and moral man of the pilgrims. The moral education of The Pardoner s Tale is the best of the two stories. The Pardoner s Tale is following the theme Greed is the root of all evil. In the story, three drunk men decide to start a bond of brothers and seek out death, who took one of their drunken friends. In the search of death, they came across an old man, whom they harassed. The old man told them that death was by a tree, but when the men left to find it, they found treasure instead. In greed, the men killed each other, resulting in them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Pardoner s tale fits this criteria better than The Knight s Tale in every way. In this category, the Pardoner s hypocrisy helps him tell the story, he knows the sins he describes very well and can describe them in a better detail than someone who does not. The Pardoner begins the story by telling the evils of sin, giving multiple examples from the bible of all the things men have done wrong under intoxication, which is ironic due to his own constant intoxication. The irony adds a humor to the story. It is humour when directly after explaining the moral of the tsory, he offers pardoning to the pilgrim s sins, for a pretty penny, of ... • 5. The Colonization Of African Countries Africa had been known as the dark continent considering Europeans knew little of its culture or background. Europeans sought control over Africa because of its natural resources and plantation. By 1914 almost all of Africa was colonized by Europeans, with Britain and France being the biggest colonizers. The imperialization in Africa by European countries have had a significant impact on the continent and its indigenous people. The colonization of African countries has had a negative effect, as the native Africans were treated poorly in the Belgian Congo, resources were exploited for the benefit of the Europeans and African culture was lost. In 1884, Europeans met in Berlin, Germany to set rules for dividing Africa into colonies, this consultation is known as the Berlin Conference. Belgium was one of the smallest European colonizers, who colonized the large country of Congo. The Europeans believed that the Africans were inferior and felt the need to civilize their population. Social Darwinism is the classification of humans into species races based on hair, skin, etc, with no scientific support to this conclusion. According to this theory the different human species are not equally evolved. The stronger, more evolved species will dominate, as it is natural for the strong to control the weak. Many of the Europeans believed this concept, certain they were the dominate race (Pearson 1900). Natives were enslaved, overworked, exploited in the Belgian Congo. Leopold had ... (Ochenkowski, 199) The earliest anatomical drawings by Leonardo are attributed to 1487. On the basis of these drawings certain facts become manifest. It is apparent that his knowledge of anatomy was what he had acquired by reading traditional writers such as Avicenna and Mundinus, by some animal dissection and by surface inspection of the living human. (Morley, 554) With his return to Florence, Leonardo again took up his anatomical studies, and it appears that for the first time he had access to a reasonably large amount of dissection material, obtained at the Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova. As the dates of his drawings indicate, he had further dissection specimens available to him, although whether he during this Florentine period ever became the possessor of an entire cadaver there is no certainty. At the beginning of this period he was still an amateur in the anatomical discipline, and his remarkable observations emphasized his genius. It is wondered how much dissection Da Vinci actually did and despite his remarkable observations of arteriosclerosis, indicative of close observation of the arterial system, it was thought that Leonardo s used of animal materials and his attempted to fit them to man which his how he came up with a five lobed liver. • 24. Similarities Between Lord Of The Flies And The Hunger Games District 12. Where you can starve to death in safety (6). This is a quote from the book The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, and it is a prime example of the dystopian society the book is set in. Another book set in a dystopian society is Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. The Hunger Games is a book about a society where every year, 24 people are sent to fight to the death in the Hunger Games. Lord of the Flies is about a big group of young children getting trapped on an island and having to figure out how to survive on their own without any adults. Both the novel Lord of The Flies and the book The Hunger Games present societies that are vicious and cruel, in similar settings, even though there are some differences between the two stories. One similarity between both books is the use of fire. At the beginning of Lord of the Flies fire is used to try to give a signal to passing ships that there are children trapped on the island. If a ship comes near the island they may not be able to notice us. So we must make smoke on top of the mountain. We must make a fire (33). At the beginning of The Hunger Games fire is used to gain the Capitol s attention during the ceremony where all tributes ride on chariots. I want the audience to recognize you when you re in the arena, says Cinna dreamily. Katniss, the girl who was on fire (67). In both situations, fire is used to gain attention of people who will be able to help them in the future, whether it s giving them a gift during the Games, or rescuing them. However, later on in the stories fire is used differently. At the end of Lord of the Flies, Jack s group uses fire to try to burn down the forest in order to find and kill Ralph. The fire was a big one and the drum roll that he had thought had left so far behind was nearer (182). This quote is from a part when Ralph is hiding in the currently burning down forest, trying to escape from Jack. In The Hunger Games, fire is used to burn down part of the arena for the Games, in order to bring Katniss closer to the other tributes. The frame makes the photo. Tellingly, a Snapchat usually exists unframed, full screen, more moment than an art object. • 34. Rejecting the Myth of Colorblindness in Education Colorblindness is a defect in the perception of colors, caused by a deficiency in specialized cells in the retina that are sensitive to different colors. The term is often used today during political discourse, often by members of some factions of liberalism, when claiming that one s race should be irrelevant to any decision making process. It is a form of moral posturing; that one should see an individual as simply an individual, but not as part of any larger group or culture. As if this philosophy will enable us to bridge any gaps between races, this thought attempts to focus on how we are all the same, rather than how we differ. Teachers and administrators are required to complete coursework pertaining to multicultural education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, Christina Judith Hein, in Color Blindness vs. Race Matters claims that a common goal cannot be that every individual is treated the same, regardless of their race, gender, or age, but rather, these differences require different responses within the social framework with certain norms and values. Reactions to an individual must be specific to that individual s needs. In the collateral collectivist cultures (African American, Hispanic and Asian), emphasis is placed on the family, above all else. This means that in these cultures, even education is second to the needs of a family. When teaching children from these cultures, it is important not be ethnocentric, but rather understand the structure of their cultures. As teachers, we cannot be colorblind; for it is a disservice to those we teach. Hatred, abuse, social injustice, and general dislike of an individual or group will never be controlled or extinguished through any means of education or political mandate. These terrible practices are part of the human frailty of life, and can be found among every ethnicity and culture. While it should never be condoned, it cannot be eradicated. In The Multicultural Cult, Thomas Sowell argues that cultural differences matter and always have. He claims that the multicultural cult is one that believes it can improve the education and economic status of a group simply by immersing them in another s culture. The use of steroids has risen within that amount of time and it has changed the view of sports and the game itself. As a fan of all sports, it interests me why athletes feel like it s ok or acceptable to take drugs to enhance their performance on the field of play. Athletes are always looking for ways to improve their skills on and off the field. With the use of steroids, athletes everywhere, not just well know or popular athletes are putting their entire career on the line with steroid use. The use of steroids and other substances to enhance sports performance has risen to an all time high over the last few years. Steroids are available to everyone, not just athletes since steroids are used for other uses, for example in cattle, farmers are injecting their cattle, especially males, with steroids to make them bigger and increase the amount of meat that you can get from one cow. Steroids are mainly used for building muscle mass at a rapid pace and it allows people to work out longer or lift heavier weights for a longer amount of time allowing the body to grow faster. • 38. Essay On Corneal Ectasia ECM proteins are known to play a significant role in the maintenance and preservation of tissue ultrastructure and biological function. This study investigates the potential application of leveraging these roles of ECM for structural reinforcement of the cornea to tackle the clinically relevant challenges of corneal ectasia. We evaluated the benefits of ECM via biomechanical, thermal, ultrastructural and gene expression characterization, by treating enzyme digested corneas with ECM conditioned media. ECM treatment demonstrated an increase in Young s modulus on the KC corneas. Moreover, it restored thermal stability, and regulated gene expression of corneal stromal cells. We have therefore conclusively established that tissue derived ECM ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the native cornea, the proteoglycans containing chondroitin sulfate chains plays an important role on regulating collagen size and inter fibrillar spacing [43]. In this ex vivo model, KC corneas have larger inter fibrillar spacing and fibril diameter, which could be attributed to the degradation of chondroitin sulfate chains via enzymatic action, thus weakening inter and intra fibrillar collagen binding. The loss of inter fibrillar collagen binding results in lower collagen fibrillar density. Meanwhile, the weakened intra fibrillar collagen binding causes loosening of the tight packing in individual collagen fibrils, thereby changing the collagen fibril diameter distribution. ECM treatment restored the fibril density and altered the fibril diameter distribution. Treatment with different ECM groups (COR, CART, LN) resulted in different fibril sizes and density distributions. The differences observed after treatment could potentially be attributed to the varying biological components in the tissues from which the ECMs were extracted. While dissimilar in the ultrastructures produced, all ECM treatment groups restored mechanical properties of the cornea equally. Tensile strength is an important parameter for evaluating crosslinking efficiency, to ensure that the corneal stroma can resist deformation due to intraocular pressure. The enzyme activity decreased the tensile strength of KC corneas due to the degradation of proteoglycans, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Murasaki s Treatment Of Women In The Tale Of Genji The Heian period lasted from 794, when the capital of Japan was moved from Nara to Heian kyō, to 1185, when Minamoto Yoritomo took power. This time is known for the culture of the aristocracy, which placed a great deal of importance on aesthetic refinement. The importance of Chinese during this time should also be noted. Chinese was the language of government, philosophy, and educated men. It was considered improper for women to learn and use. In addition, while a man was expected to study poetry in Chinese and compose it in Chinese and Japanese, fiction was considered beneath them. Because of this, early prose fiction in Japanese was a matter mainly for women. The Tale of Genji is the world s oldest novel. It was written in Japan during the early 11th century, the peak of the Heian Period, by a woman known as Murasaki Shikibu. I say known as because her real name is unknown. Murasaki comes from the heroine of The Tale of Genji and Shikibu from her father s position, Shikibu meaning Bureau of Ceremonial. • 40. Forgiveness in Post-Genocide Rwanda As said in Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. After the genocide, which took the lives of countless loved ones, Rwandans re found their faith in order to forgive their wrongdoers. Moreover, many of the Rwandan s needed to forgive each other for their crimes in order to deal with the pain of losing their family members. Rwanda is a small country where the individuals depend upon each other for the basic needs in life. Once the genocide had ended, the government needed its citizens to cooperate with each other and forgive in order to restore peace to the country. For the Rwandans, forgiveness is a way to self heal, reconnect with God and to help the government become one again. In the African nation of Rwanda, two tribes started a genocide which took the lives of more than 800,000 people. The Hutus and the Tutsis were enemies for generations; however the everyday bickering and blank threats snowballed into a catastrophe. The genocide spread throughout the country with overwhelming speed and violence. Everyone, from average citizens to high standing priests, took part in murdering their neighbors and friends. After years of murders and torture, the Tutsis took control of Rwanda in July of 1994 and ended the genocide. Afterwards, citizens started to seek revenge and closure for their loved ones who had been taken from them. Due to the high number of people who took part in the genocide killings, numerous ... However this did not stop the Jewish people in fighting for their lives. Resistance took many forms. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is definitely more the Jewish people could have done in order to resist against the Nazi regime. However it is very unlikely that they could have significantly affected the Nazi soldiers enough to force change. A total of about 12.5 million soldiers fought for the German army during WW2. Even the amount of total Jews living in Europe (8 million) does not come close to the number of enlisted German soldiers. This meant that even if the Jews made more efforts in resisting the Germans it would still likely be very ineffective. However resisting was still a very courageous effort that helped many Hews survive and gave all Jews a small sense of hope. Almost 60% of the Jewish population was brutally slaughtered during WW2 although if it was not for the numerous attempts in resisting the Germans this number could have been far greater. When thinking about Resistance during the Holocaust we should not dwell on how little or insignificant it might appear to have been. • 43. Reflection On The Environment To be honest, I never have given the environment any thought and what my opinion would be on the topics that I hear around me. Sure, I ve heard about environmental issues on the 6 O Clock news, but never did I think about it for more than a few seconds and what position I would take on the topic of the day. After even just a few days of taking my environmental issues class, I realized that my opinion and position on certain topics do matter and that every little thing we do has such an extreme impact on something in nature somehow. One thing that I have definitely taken away from the class so far on the food chain or the circle of life and how it ties into other events occurring right now. It has been just a coincidence that during this period of time while taking this environment class that the hurricanes in the southern states and islands have occurred which have had a tremendous impact on our environment. The last topic that I want to discuss is how this environmental class and the simple effort of informing myself has changed my perspective of every animal s purpose on this planet, and finding a new respect for these beautiful creatures that we share the world with. When you think of a food chain, you automatically know that humans are at the top, which still holds true, however myself and probably many other people only associate ourselves as the dominant species along with other animals such as wolves, bears etc. being the primary consumers. In reality, theres so many more levels on the food chain, making it a lot more complex system than it seems. You may ask why this is important or why I am even talking about it, and it the simple fact that I find myself guilty of being so selfish and not thinking about the bigger scheme of things. By learning how other animals interact in the lower part of the food chains gives you a new found respect for the food that you eat, along with a newfound respect for the animals themselves. Us humans being the top predators, we don t think about how polluting the areas around us, and causing the air to be toxic affects these animals, even as little as bugs.
