twice a month i also use pre written observation sheets to write down longer observations. In the

and interconnected (part covered) Development is holistic means that each area is dependant on the
other to ensure the child develops to their full potential. Although development is described as
different areas: physical, social, emotional, language and intellectual, each area needs to connect in
order for the child to develop. So for instance a child might be highly intellectual and then be unable
to butter bread. This isn t because the child is incapable of buttering bread, it just has not had the
chance to practice the physical skill. Another example is a chid needs to wear glasses for school

Crime, Crime And Basic Models Of Organized Crimes
Basic models of organized crimes include, youth and street gang, corporate organization, patron and
client network, multimodal approach model and individual difference model. Patron client produce
crime groups that function a small units within the overall structure. These networks are normally
made up of, hierarchies, personalized activities such as family rivalry, recruiting and training one
family members with their major belief system relying on their family values, religion and tradition.
Corporate organizations focuses more on operations and success of the organization unlike patron
client model their operations are not based on social or cultural belief rather they have formulated
strict rules which they have put down in writing. However the model has some limitations such as,
maintaining written record may tamper with security of the organization, manipulations in lower ranks
can totally distinguish the entire organization. Youth and street gang model is an organization formed
by peers that are based of street neighborhood that meet the gang category. It can be defined as a
group of self driven peers who have a common interest with recognized leadership and internal
organization with specific objectives to achieve, Miller (1992). The reasons why the youth engage in
gang include the need to be accepted in the group, some lack the aspect of family, increase self esteem
and also be accepted. Cohen (1955), the working class teenagers engaged in street gang in order

Southern Colonies Characteristics
Southern Colonies Attributes Report
This paper is about the different characteristics of the Southern colonies for use in the plausible war.
Based upon the areas of geography and climate, resources, and political and social life, the southern
colonies will prove to be an asset to England in a possible war with France.
The geography of the southern colonies consists of deep wide rivers, the Atlantic coastal plain, and
good harbors. These will all be positive attributes due to the rivers and harbors can be used for
transportation and the Atlantic coastal plain is easy to travel on. The climate however, can be
challenging at some points. The summers are very hot and humid which could be difficult to function
in. But the winters are very mild and would be much better. Overall the geography and climate seem
fall in the middle. The geography is an asset but the climate may be an obstacle.
Natural resources of the Southern region, to state a few, are cotton, tobacco, and harbors. These are
good because since cotton and tobacco are both cash crops we can ... Show more content on

Social life comprises of establishing the Church of England, Indentured servitude, and slavery. The
establishment of the Church of England show once again their close ties and support to the crown.
Slavery accentuates the point that since this is a major piece of the people s lives it could be a problem
if they decide to join the French. Indentured servants seem to be leaning towards positive. Since most
of the masters of the indentured servants were loyal to the crown and England provided them a
passage to this new life in the colonies they will very likely be on England s side. The social and
political life mainly is the connections to the king and will prove to be an asset to England in the

Nazi Germany And The World War II
The year was 1941 and World War II had been going on for two years since it started in 1939. Nazi
Germany had gained much territory and controlled over three fourths of Europe. The only countries
not conquered controlled or allied with Germany in Europe were Sweden, Switzerland, Russia and
England. Both Sweden and Switzerland were neutral during the war, so the two biggest threats to
Germany was England and Russia. (Patrick Shrier 08/06/2006)
On June 22, 1941 the third reich (Nazi Germany) invaded Russia in an attempt crush the nation and
the Red Army. Hitler had been planning the invasion at the since 1940 because Russia rejected to be a
part of Tripartie, which was supposed to be an alliance between Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia.
Hitler wanted the best conditions for his army to succeed the invasion. He originally planned on the
invasion taking place late April or early may, because that was when the spring thaw was over and the
ground was dry enough for his tanks to move without getting stuck in the muddy terrain. (Patrick
Shrier 08/06/2006)
Russia was a major superpower during World War 2 because of its size and the raw materials that had
major impact on the war. If Germany conquered and took control of Russia it would drastically change
the war and the outcome of it. If Germany would have conquered Russia they would have access to all
of the raw materials and they would be able to enter countries all over Europe and even Asia.
Russia was a very strategic country

The Necessity Defense in the Killing of an Innocent Third...
1 Introduction
The general defence of necessity has long been disputed. The South African and English legal systems
are intrinsically opposite, and neither seem to escape controversy. These systems differ greatly on the
legal subject of defence of necessity in the context of killing an innocent third party. The legal aspects
of this defence, as well as accompanying problems which may arise, will be briefly discussed in terms
of the South African as well as the English law. Utilitarianism and Kantianism will be used to analyse
specific case law that made an enormous contribution to the legal dispute regarding necessity.
2 Necessity
Necessity can be described as the voluntary conscious decision to break the law in order for a lesser ...

According to this Constitution, every person has the right to life and the right to equality. With a
successful defence of necessity for the murder of an innocent person, these basic human rights would
be infringed upon, which is legally unacceptable. Thus, a case should fail when using the defence of
necessity for the murder of an innocent person.
2 2 English Law
The United Kingdom has no constitution, which is why English law can only be found in the common
law of the United Kingdom. This common law does not regard the general defence of necessity as a
justification, but rather as an excuse to a crime which is then classified as duress, and it does not
recognise the defence of necessity to any murder. The English law, to my opinion, is still quite unclear
as to whether or not the ground of justification of necessity, as to the unlawfulness of a crime, is
accepted or not. The reason for this is because quite a clear position had been taken up by the courts in
the United Kingdom regarding this matter, until the recent case of the conjoined twins, which led to a
dispute in the English law as to the ground of justification of necessity.
2 3 Case Law
Seen as S v Goliath, R v Dudley and Stephens, and the conjoined twins cases have all set out the legal
precedent to which two countries are to be governed by, they will be briefly discussed by using the
analogy of Utilitarianism as well as Kantianism. The basic premise of utilitarianism is that the

Disney Magic Kingdom Description
Images of rocket ships, trains, and flying elephants dance in my head. While turkey legs, pirates, and
haunted mansions toy with my emotions. Memories fade as I grow older with fleeting thoughts as I try
to recall my last Disney adventure. That visit has created some wonderfully vivid memories that will
last a lifetime. Disney s Magic Kingdom was celebrating a major anniversary during a year long
event. A building sized cake, parades stretched a mile long, and fireworks that filled the night sky, all
enhanced just for my viewing pleasure or not. While visiting my favorite areas of the park my
childhood imaginations were awakened. Lifelong vivid memories and a magical experience started as

Fast Food Is Bad For Our Health
Intro Quick, delicious, and hot that s all people think when they are getting fast food for them and
their family so they went have to cook. You can get fast food almost on every corner of a street and on
any continent you go to. Fast food is now starting to invade non fast food eater s lives by offering so
called health items on the menu. Fast food is everywhere and people don t consider what s in the fast
food they eat. What it could do to our health and why you feel sluggish, and when I go will I get a
rude employee because her boss was angry at her, how people gain weight and overweight people still
eating fast food.
Body paragraph
1. What it could do to our health and why you feel sluggish
a) Fast food affects everyone who eats it rather you know it or not. All fast food is bad for you, even
down to a simple salads that you eat, because after you add all the dressings and the pop to it even if
its diet pop it drives up your sodium, sugar and calories levels. People don t think about how the food
is process and how this process give the food its taste and all the calories that go with it. (As the old
saying goes: You are what you eat.)(pg). I have found even after eating from a fast food restaurant I
feeling tried, sluggish, and lazy because the food was so heavy in fat and carbohydrates. (That is one
of the main reasons people buy fast food; it has been carefully designed to taste good.)(pg) Fast food

The Case Of Hill Chief Constable Of West Yorkshire 1989
TORT LAW ASSIGNENT
INTRODUCTION
This assignment will be explaining various areas of tort law. But mostly will be dealing with the rule
in the case of Hill Chief Constable of West Yorkshire 1989. This assignment will identify the nature of
tortious liability and the range of activities to which the law of tort may be applied.
Tort is a civil wrong which is done to an individual. If a civil wrong is done to an individual the law
provides a remedy where the individual takes the wrongdoer to court. According to Winfield and
Jojowicz negligence is a breach of a legal duty to take care resulting in damage. There are three Eras
of negligence which are:
1. Neighbour principle this principle was brought in the of Donoghue v Stevenson(1932) where ...

Secondly, if the first question is answered affirmatively, it is necessary to consider whether there are
any considerations which ought to negative, or to reduce or limit the scope of the duty or the class of
person to whom it is owed or the damages to which a breach of it may give rise.
3. Three stage test: foreseeability, proximity, fair, just and reasonable Caparo v Dickman (1990) 1990
2010. In this stage, under the Caparo test the claimant must make sure and establish that the harm was
reasonably predictable, that there was a relationship of proximity and if it is fair just and reasonable to
enforce a duty of care.
Negligence always involves establishing whether a duty of care exists and who has that duty. A good
example is shown in the case of Donoghue v Stevenson 1932. This case introduced the law of
negligence and the neighbour test. In this case a friend took Mrs Donoghue went to cafe with a friend
and bought her an ice cream and ginger beer. The ginger beer came in a bottle which wasn t clear
enough to see the contents inside. After drinking half of her ginger beer she then poured the rest on top
of the ice cream when a discomposed snail came out from the bottle. As a result Mrs Donoghue fell
sick and suffered personal injury. She then went on to claim against the company that produces ginger
beer. It was held that her claim was successful and therefore the neighbour test was established. Lord

Sex Trade And Its Effects On Society
Women in the Sex trade are living and working in dangerous situations working with different men
and women and even the same customers every night, this is their lives from a very young age and
will continue this hardship for the rest of their lives, even if by chance they could get out and try to
live a normal, healthy citizen life. The sex trade is a business where women do sexual favours for men
and sometimes women for money. In many parts of the world and with women from different parts of
the globe, many women are persuaded into the sex business for new and better opportunities, others
are forced with personal threats and are sent into human trafficking then goes into the sex trade and is
forced into the business. Prostitution here in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prostitution trade succeeded and became quite popular essentially around brothels which were
located the train stations and the main work sites because of the single and married men. (Shaver, F.
(2011, October 27)). It has been shown in a Canada statistic that in Vancouver around 2007 alone,
there is a sixty percent of young women in the sex trade were Aboriginal youth and on average of age
to be forced into the trade, is around the age of eleven or twelve for the women to enter the sex trade
as a child (Sethi, A. (2007)). Prostitution made a huge increase during World War I due to when
employment for women was at the minimum level, but then their war a big decrease greatly during
World War II, this was mainly from the greater opportunities for women in the industries that were
war related like being nurses and help for the wounded. As time went on and we have come to the
present day, the prostitution trade started hitting its high point then plummeting greatly later over the
years to as we see it today because of the changes and new laws that the government has made.
The law has always been around and it keeps the system and people safe and in order, including the
sex trade workers and their clients. The law against the Sex trade and the workers has made some big
changes over the years from the sex trade being tolerated to strict rules and

Causes Of Collapse And Its Effects On The World s Most...
The small, isolated Rapa Nui Island or, Easter Island began its history of human habitation with
difficulty. Settlers were 3,000 kilometers away from other settlements, native plants and animals were
limited, and its geographic location make the island subject to El Nino s varying conditions (Hunt and
Lipo 2007). Despite obstacles unique to Rapa Nui, as compared to its Polynesian neighbors, the
people of Rapa Nui were successful before collapse, surviving as one of the world s most remote
human outposts (Hunt and Lipo 2012). The cause of collapse is, however (and, of course), a subject of
debate over whether natural or anthropogenic factors led to the Rapa Nui s downfall, and a lack of
evidence has stopped anthropologists from reaching a more conclusive agreement. A union of the two
overarching factors have been suggested, however combination of climatic and anthropogenic causes
have been merely hypothesized but not investigated (Louwagie 290). Evidence is present and
convincing on both sides, with layered explanations accounting for the rapid decline of a complex,
highly functioning society. While researchers such as Jared Diamond and Donald Hughes seek to
showcase Rapa Nui as a cautionary tale against the dangers of ecocide, and thus paralleling the
modern world, there is an equal pushback to frame the Rapa Nui population as a capable, adaptive,
and resilient people who were dealt a bad hand. This paper will explore the debate of Rapa Nui s
human shortsightedness

In the film, We are Marshall , there is a major theme that includes being able to move on and a
rebuilding of a community after a tragic event. In the following paragraphs I will be discussing with a
chain of events how football helped rebuild a community after a tragic event and how religion and
sport are intertwined. This paper is significant because within a short span it highlights different
aspects of not only rebuilding a football team but a community. This paper is important because it
shows how the concept of structural functionalism played a big part in this film in addition to the
socialization of youth and adults in the community. This paper will also talk about major points and

At the beginning of the movie after the first loss the coach told the team that winning is everything.
This is important because throughout the movie I was able to see a change in the characters as they
learned more about themselves. They were able to learn that winning wasn t everything but learned
that it s important that they keep playing the game. During the funeral someone says, The Lord giveth,
the Lord taketh away. This was important to me because I can relate this to religion. There isn t a real
answer of why things happen the way that they do. It s not in our control but a person can get through
the tragedy by surrounding themselves with loved ones. That s what I personally saw while watching
the movie because the team rose beyond the ashes by having each other s backs. The win at Marshall
University was important because everyone in the town came together to watch the game. It just
showed me that life keeps moving on but a person should never forget. In addition, another example is
when Jack saw the West Virginia helmet has a MU on the back. This showed the role of religion in the
community and how it unites people when times harsh, hence allowing the coaches to watch film in
the opposing school s campus. For religion and sports I believe that they are intertwined with each
other. I say this because in the movie the players had faith and wanted to keep the team alive. By
taking each day one at a time they were able to rise from the ashes and keep the program going. Even
though the team wasn t any good the University looked towards the light and saw this as a new
beginning without forgetting about the past. Football kept the town going and allowed for people to

Self Regulation And Self Regulatory Practices Essay
Self regulation is an important part of an individual s everyday life. From the moment a person wakes
up until the moment they go to sleep, they are engaging in self regulatory practices throughout much
of their day. These self regulatory processes are not only conscious decisions that one makes
throughout a variety of situations, but can become deeply imbedded in an individual s way of life.
Through a social cognitive perspective, one may define self regulation as producing feelings,
thoughts, and actions. These are planned and adapted cyclically in order for one to achieve personal
goals in a changing social and physical environment (Zimmerman, 2010, as cited in Durand Bush,
McNeill, Harding, Dobransky, 2015, p. 257). One must constantly modify their actions in order to
obtain the desired outcome. Self regulation involves looking in retrospect at past actions, evaluating
them, and then choosing current behavior to be consistent with desires. For some, self regulatory
practices have been built over many years throughout one s life and continue to grow. The individual
learns new knowledge and practices that they can incorporate into their lives. Daily actions are
motivated by both internal and external forces. According to Ryan and Deci (2000), there is a very
important difference between intrinsic and extrinsic kinds of motivation. Intrinsic motivation entails
doing something because it is essentially interesting or enjoyable, while extrinsic motivation entails

Selective Breeding Vs. Natural Selection
Selective breeding has been used for many years to achieve the expression of desired traits in animals
and plants. Similar to natural selection, humans have developed artificial selection where humans
select the most desirable traits instead of the environment, this is what s known as selective breeding.
But in fact selective breeding does not select for the fittest phenotype like in natural selection it
actually selects for the most desirable phenotypes which may cause harm to the individual.
Natural selection selects against harmful alleles as they are disadvantageous to the individual and
possibly restricts its ability to survive till the age of sexual reproduction thus not being able to pass on
this harmful gene, whereas selective breeding selects for harmful alleles if seen desirable.
Selective breeding involves breeding organisms based on their phenotypes so that the desired traits are
passed onto successive generations, these desired alleles then increase (in frequency) in the gene pool.
This has a large commercial benefit as animal and crop products now contain higher quality meat,
quantity of milk, quality of wool, larger fruits etc.
The goal of selective breeding in animals is to either produce a pure breed (a breed that will
consistently produce offspring with the desired traits or to simply improve the quality of the desired
trait/phenotype (homozygous). This is achieved by inbreeding (where two closely related individuals
mate and produce offspring)
In selective

The Middle East On Social Media
The term don t judge a book by it s cover has so much meaning to it and since the dawn of time our
world as we know it is taken by labels that we live by today. My ethnicity alone has these very labels
that by nature have grown on one another. When one would talk about the middle east on social media
the first thing that comes to mind is the war and countless bloodshed that spilled and the impact it had
on many lives. All the stories distributed by social media display attacks and war in the middle east,
portray all middle easterners to be muslim, and only tell the tale of terrorists to the public.
Social media is only showing people, very little stories about Middle Easterners. One of those
shameful stories is the tale of war, violence, and suffering. A few misconceptions people have is that
all Middle Eastern s are dangerous. This is due to social media and the tales being spread. Anne
Barnard says in her article for The New York Times, Lebanon has weathered waves of political
assassinations, street skirmishes and wars; Israeli airstrikes leveled whole apartment blocks in 2006 .
Anne Barnard may not realize it, but she is distributing one story about the Lebanon, my home
country. Which, is really a beautiful country with many small towns and tight communities. Yes, there
is the story of war and violence, but there is also a story of family and culture. No one hears about the
positive in the Middle East. The ungraceful representation of the Middle East is embarrassing

Research Paper On Emily Dickinson
The person I m reflecting on is Emily Dickinson, a famous poet from New England. Emily Dickinson
was born in 1830 in New England. Her natural first skills were cooking and sewing, but attended a
boarding school would change a lot. Emily was different from her family and had a different outlook
on life. Her love life was nothing, but shameful when guy after guy ended up cheating, leaving her, or
even dying. After that, Emily decided to stay inside her home for the rest of her life and not deal with
social life at all. She only communicated with flowers and poems she would often write to closest
friends and family. During her being at home, some of her poems were published by her closet friends
and family. One man was very impressed by her poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nephew, and her dog). With the terrible deaths happening around her impacting her life heavily. She
retreated further and further into her room not saying a word to anyone or even coming out. When her
father died she didn t even attend the funeral. She stayed in her room leaving the door slightly open.
Eventually her own health began to decline and the eloquent and mysterious poet knew her time was
up also. The last letter she ever wrote was to her cousins and said Little Cousins, Called Back. Emily .
On May 15, 1886, Emily Dickerson died at the age of fifty five. The attending physician stated that
her cause of death was Bright s disease, a kidney disease now called acute or chronic nephritis. After
Emily s death, Lavinia Dickinson published her remaining poems she wrote. In 1955, there was a

King Leopold 2 Research Paper
The second king of Belgians, King Leopold II, were admired throughout European. He was first
known for his generous and noble act, sacrificing his time and fortune to benefits the Africans. Of
course, Edmund Dene Morel learned the truth behind King Leopold II s practices of slave labors and
eventually brought it to the public eyes. King Leopold II was able to keep the horrific practices of
slavery murder, and mutilation of millions in the Congo hidden from the rest of the world for roughly
two decades through propagandas. As stated on page 1, ... the troop, it is said, fought, and defeated

The slaughter of millions in the Congo Free State around the turn of the twentieth century is not
remembered as well and is not taught in history classes as much as other atrocities and genocides of

the subject entered the curricula, not everything is going to be covered. Another way I see it is that the
other genocides are not close to America s cultural heritage. There are many people in America that

How is the Eileen Fisher brand story embodied in its:
Products: The clothes are stylish, yet simple and built for comfort. The pieces in the collection were
designed to work together, so customers could creatively vary their look from day to day. They were
designed to make getting dressed easy, and to be versatile enough to be worn to work and out for the
evening. Fisher was adamant about designing clothes for real women and developed forgiving
silhouettes that flattered women regardless of their body type. The fluid clothes were designed to take

The website was also another platform that was updated. They included more videos to bring the webs
advertising, Eileen Fisher previously focused on the person that would wear the brand and how they
would wear the brand s clothes; however now it just shifts that focus to the actual clothes.
How strong is the brand story? What are the core brand associations and meaning narratives
associated with the brand?
The brand story was considered very strong. It is a high end brand that accounts such as
Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, etc. appreciated because it was the best performing brand. It could have
been too strong, before the repositioning, because it shifted certain segments away. People associated
the brand as for older people, well established in their careers as well as a mom/grandmother brand. It
had a very strong brand loyalty associated with it. As the company grew older so did its customers.
Some people did not want to be associated with that, and did not buy the brand; therefore shifting
younger segments away.
How healthy is the brand at the time of the case?
At the time of the case the brand was healthy but it was at a vulnerable point. There had been
economic downfall, so the industry as a whole was suffering but Eileen Fisher was stronger than its
competitors. Economic factors forced customers to go to discount brands and shy away from
department stores, therefore not only was Eileen Fisher losing customers its competitors were as well.

Portia And Calpurnia In Julius Caesar
Portia and Calpurnia in the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare were the wives of Brutus and
Caesar. They had many more privileges at that time than most women because they were the wives of
great noble Romans, and of course Calpurnia was the wife of the leader Julius Caesar. Since Brutus
wife, Portia, was the daughter of the successful leader Cato, she was a very powerful Roman. But,
they still were treated far from equals of their superior, their husbands. As wives of these specific
Romans, they were treated with much higher respect than most women were at that time. Portia as an
individual was described as pure in nature, youthful, and very beautiful. I believe that she took being a
Roman woman to be quite difficult, and felt very underappreciated because of it. She wanted to show
Brutus that she was worthy of his trust and to prove her worth to him, she cut open her thigh. She
expresses her feelings of being his wife and a Roman women at that time in part of her monologue;
Therefore fear not, but tell me all you are concealing from me, for neither fire, nor lashes, nor goads
will force me to divulge a word; I was not born to that extent a woman. Hence, if you still distrust me,
it is better for me to die than to live; otherwise let no one think me longer the daughter of Cato or your

of Brutus, she still did not feel as though she would ever be able to

Video Games Help Children With Special Educational Needs
This paper explains how video games help children with special educational needs, should children
have certain technologies (I.e. phones, tablets, etc.) readily available, and what children enjoy about
playing video games. [METHODS?] The findings from this research are that children s fascination in
video games, whether with typical development or not, mainly involves the thrill of challenges and the
feeling of achievement when winning. When playing video games, children do learn alternate ways to
solve problems. Children who play video games may think and learn differently than those who do not
play. Those who tend to cheat in a video games may also do the same when academics are involved. A
child s academic ethics and effort seems to reflect when playing video games. In other words, children
who play a video game with minimal effort seem to give the same amount of effort when academics
are concerned. My conclusions include that technology is good for children with special educational
needs, it is helpful for young children in that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being
bilingual in the technological language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to
solve problems.
Technology s Impact on Childhood Development

Summary Of Speech-Language Pathology
While reading this article, I learned the brain acquires differently among children who are living in the
lower, middle, and upper classes. The cognitive functions, emotional development, and language
growth of individuals will be affected by those living in poverty. For example, a child s temper, anger
management skills, ability to cope, working memory, and reading skills may be affected.
To promote language growth in therapy, I could involve the client and caregiver in determining goals
and expectations for treatment. I could use the techniques and methods to engage the brain and
encourage making connections to subjects the client is interested in. I should use reassuring statements
throughout treatment to positively reinforce the client.
I learned that an important aspect of Speech Language Pathology is providing clients with the ability
to make choices. Individuals want the opportunity to express their feelings, concerns, and activities

Licensing will also be more difficult to obtain, since adult entertainment is involved. These additional
fees as well as the additional talent required will cause Dirty Deeds prices to be higher than traditional
cleaning services. Another weakness is that Tucson s older population may be more conservative than
anticipated which may cause them to reject the service. The last weakness is there may be a staff
shortage during the summer and holiday months when college students are out of town. Not having
employees to clean houses means less productivity and profitability. Among the external opportunities
that Dirty Deeds may enjoy are that this type of service has never been offered in Tucson before. If the
service is widely accepted, the company can be very profitable. Furthermore, Tucson s diverse
population is consistently expanding which offers a growing customer base. Dirty Deeds may also be
able to utilize the new ideas that today s college student have to offer. Applying new concepts to
current cleaning methods will boost Dirty Deeds Inc. reputation as an innovative cleaning company.
Since customer satisfaction is guaranteed, clients will likely refer Dirty Deeds Inc. to their friends
which may also contribute to an increased workflow. Threats exist that Dirty Deeds must convert into
opportunities in order to realize sufficient profit. One such threat is that people may not be willing to

Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Analysis
The book, Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry is regarding segregation plus conflicts among figures such
of diverse races and also the ambiguity within the main characters and personas who soon obtain their
way into the family s life. The main characters, Cassie, Little Man, Big Ma, Momma, and Papa. It all
started with Cassie heading to school with her two brothers, Stacy and Little Man. On their way to
school, a boy named T J and his brother approached Cassie and her brothers to tell them that a family
that lived on a farm like house were burned to death by a group of people called The Wallace Brothers
. So, of course, this disturbed Stacey, Cassie, and Little man. At the time Cassie and Little Man did not
perceive how segregation or discrimination works or what it is, which later on carried some disputes
since they did not know there were certain objects/materials whites used which they couldn t. At the
time Cassie s Father, Papa had gone to work on a railroad for from the family but one day Papa
unexpectedly returned back to the family with a man behind him, the man s name was Mr. Morrison
which will, later on, help out the Logans in many ways. Once it was the season of fall, the kids had to
walk day after day to school on the mud. Not only that, but they were also splashed by the resentful
bus driver of the white students. But since Cassie and her brothers were annoyed by this, one morning

Fighting
Fighting, or kumite, is the freestyle use of moves one has learned. During this freestyle match, the
students may use any technique they have learned in their training for either defensive or offensive
purposes. Fighting is involved with probably only 30 % of skill the student has. However, this is a
very important part of the whole. As mention earlier, katas help in perfecting the moves and the focus
of executing them. On the other hand, fighting employs these moves.
Practicing in fighting will assist in the timing and rhythm of the execution of the move. In a kata you

the next stance.

Instead of blocking all of these attacks, you can stop them. If you block the kick and follow up quickly
with your own set of attacks this will surprise the opponent and interrupt his rhythm. The only way to

The only way to become a good fighter is to practice fighting. I don t mean to go out on the streets and
pick a fight with one person after another. Not only is that stupid it is also illegal. I mean to practice
fighting in a controlled environment where both fighters have respect for one another.
Fighters having respect for one another doesn t mean they are going to take it easy on each other , it
means that if one is knocked to the ground the other isn t going to jump on top of him and continue
beating the crap out of him or if a good punch or kick is thrown the fighter getting hit should
acknowledge the attack and not get pissed off.
The Tae Kwon Do style of fighting is different than many other styles of martial arts fighting. Tae

Mardi Gras History
The phrase Laissez les bons temps rouler! which means let the good times roll in French, is one of the
most popular sayings during Mardi Gras. This holiday is celebrated differently all across Louisiana.
There are a variety of celebrations including parades and balls. Many historians believe that the first
American Mardi Gras took place on March 3, 1699, when the French explorers Iberville and Bienville
landed in what is now Louisiana, just south of the holiday s future epicenter: New Orleans. They held
a small celebration and dubbed the spot Point du Mardi Gras. In the decades that followed, New
Orleans and other French settlements began marking the holiday with street parties, masked balls and
lavish dinners. When the Spanish took control of New Orleans, however, they abolished these rowdy
rituals, and the bans remained in force until Louisiana became a U.S. state in 1812.
Body of Research
The origins of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, passing through Rome and Venice in the
17th and 18th centuries to the French House of the Bourbons. From here, the traditional revelry of
Boeuf Gras, or fatted calf, followed France to her colonies.
On March 2, 1699, French Canadian explorer Jean Baptiste Le Moyne Sieur de Bienville arrived at a
plot of ground 60 miles directly south of New Orleans, and named it Pointe du Mardi Gras when his
men realized it was the eve of the festive holiday. Bienville also established Fort Louis de la Louisiane

Humorist Synthesis Essay
The concept of humor inciting change continues to be disagreed upon globally. Whereas mordant
humor demands mental depth to understand the purpose, blatant impunity messages are accessible and
easily created by humorists. Thus, humorists that are vital to society often rely upon humor with an
underlying message. As a result, de Botton s claim of humorists serving society is true, provided that
the message is dangerous to state blatantly.
Humorists revolve heavily around trending topics to help appeal to their audience. This practice lends
itself to humorists often becoming politically focused. Ideally, humorists would remove themselves
from appearing to be partisan but, as proven during the most recent presidential election, humorists
relied upon blatant jabs at both candidates. This resulted with audiences that found comic relief
through their dislike of candidates as opposed to the comedian s message. These circumstances led to
an election of the best of the worst, rather than electing candidates based on policy. This is an ... Show

The first time in which humor served a social function in America was when the African Americans
displayed silent sabotage. Although this form of peaceful revolt also relied on faking sickness and not

led to cultural oppression for slaves; slave owners prevented their slaves from acting dissimilar from
whites. Thus, slaves relied on humor with underlying meanings as a form of preventing cultural

He, thus, discusses that person, spatial, temporal, discourse and social deixis describe the context of a

important to the coherence of any text. McCarthy (1991:168) describes schema as the role of
background knowledge in understanding the text. According to him, schemata involve two kinds of
knowledge; the knowledge of the world (content schemata) and the knowledge of the different forms
of the text (formal schemata). Some scholars including Halliday and Hassan (1976) include exophoric
reference in the cohesive device of reference; I have also discussed it there. 3. COHESION Halliday
and Hassan (1976) were the first significant writers on the subject (cohesion). They drew the attention
towards the importance of cohesion which, for them, refers to the range of possibilities that exist from
linking something with what has gone before . Halliday and Hassan continue that one of the items in
the cohesive pair cannot be completely and effectively understood without consulting the other and
both of these form important part of the text. Most other writers on the subject then explained the term
following Halliday and Hassan. Zamel (1983) finds the role of the cohesive devices to be crucial as
they can turn separate expression into a unified whole by developing relationships between those

Architecture performs the new formulation and reproduction by formatting actions in order to
accommodate to the existing environment. The basic practice of the architectural space is to reform
the object of architecture on the site. People have built a natural environment for themselves by
starting the first shelter since they are in the world. The built environment that undergoes continually a
transformation and change has evolved to be closely associated with people and the lives of people. At
this point, the relationship between architectural and urban voids came into prominence. So, what is
the void? How is it designed? And how can the void contact its inside and outside? or What is the
potential of voids?
Many theorists, architects, and philosophers have asked these questions for over two thousand year
but answers are still uncertain. As a general thing, the void is about absence instead of existence, or
about nothing instead of a thing. However, it may be said that void as emptiness is defined with a
mutual understanding. Void as a conceptual topic could provide the inspiration for art and architecture.
The existence of voids could reach to individuals and society thanks to art and architectural works.
Although void and fullness are in opposite, they always create each other. Figure 1.1 :The

I guess no because the term of void is very vague on account of constituting a multi layered fiction. It
is unidentified in the first time and can not be poured into question. Therefore, it can be thought that
void is a notion that allows diverse expansions. In daily language, the notion of the void has a clearer
sense. As a noun, void refers both the physical emptiness and the deficiency of something. As an
adjective, it refers a position and a place that is not occupied and generated. These meanings of void
focus on emptiness but actually, void is not empty

The Bitter Conflict in Northern Ireland Essay examples
The Bitter Conflict in Northern Ireland
Out of all the conflicts that have occurred in Western Europe since the Second World War, Northern
Ireland has been one of the most bitter, long lasting and intractable. This conflict is based in the
struggle of one side of the community for a unified independent Ireland and the opposition of the other
part of the community to this aim and their desire for Northern Ireland to remain a part of the United
Kingdom. Due to the hostility between these two sides issues of discrimination in areas such as
housing, employment, electoral manipulations and religious histories have been rife. Northern Ireland
is torn over the balance of power relations between communities and questions of governance. ...

Although this is good news there are many areas of employment which are still inadequate and
unmonitored. The Policy of Appraisal and Fair Treatment and Targeting Social Need initiatives were
intended to be set up in the 90 s to act as monitoring and job creation schemes. Neither of these
reached the goals they were hoped to achieve. PAFT received no consideration and hopes for
reparation for past discriminations came to nothing when its function became reduced to equality and
TSN was sidelined with no real aims. Neither monitor the religion or gender of staff.
The allocation of public housing has also been an area subject to accusations of discrimination. In the
1960 s civil rights movements began in protest against the lack of civil and housing rights of the
Catholics of Northern Ireland. In June 1966, a nationalist councillor Austin Currie squatted in a house
in the Tyrone village of Caledon to oppose the treatment the Irish people were receiving. Though it
was meant to be a peaceful protest there was a violent reaction. In 1969 The Cameron Report
examined the causes of the civil disorders which started on 5 October 1968 in Londonderry. They
found that the discrimination in the allocation of housing, together with lack of housing provision was
among the main grievances of the Catholic population. At the time, housing was an important political
issue, in addition to being of great socio economic importance sub tenants were not given a vote in

Originally, Mr. Pearson sued Custom Cleaners for the loss of his pants, alleging claims of common
law fraud and that they violated the CPPA by displaying signs that read Satisfaction Guaranteed , All
Work Done on Premises and Same Day Service . The amount Mr. Pearson was seeking for relief was
$67 million dollars, since that is what it would take for the Chungs to satisfy his claim (Pearson 2). It
was Mr. Pearson s belief, that there is an unconditional warranty that Custom Cleaners now must
provide since they have the Satisfaction Guaranteed sign hanging in there store. (Pearson 4). In the
pretrial discovery, the court confirmed that all work was done on premises, and the judge granted
summary judgment to the defendants on the portion of fraud. Mr. Pearson amended his lawsuit and
stated that he is not suing for lost pants , but only regarding the Satisfaction Guaranteed sign. (Pearson
4). Mr. Pearson insists that the Satisfaction Guaranteed sign is unconditional and limitless (Pearson 7).
In addition, the claim tickets that are printed have limitations on the back which further limit the
unlimited guarantee that is provided by the signs hanging in the store, which is a violation of the FTC
regulations regarding Satisfaction Guaranteed (Pearson 20). The court, however, ruled that the
Satisfaction Guaranteed means how a

Based upon the areas of geography and climate, resources, and political and social life, the southern colonies will prove to be an asset to England in a possible war with France. The geography of the southern colonies consists of deep wide rivers, the Atlantic coastal plain, and good harbors. These will all be positive attributes due to the rivers and harbors can be used for transportation and the Atlantic coastal plain is easy to travel on. The climate however, can be challenging at some points. The summers are very hot and humid which could be difficult to function in. But the winters are very mild and would be much better. Overall the geography and climate seem fall in the middle. The geography is an asset but the climate may be an obstacle. Nazi Germany had gained much territory and controlled over three fourths of Europe. The only countries not conquered controlled or allied with Germany in Europe were Sweden, Switzerland, Russia and England. Both Sweden and Switzerland were neutral during the war, so the two biggest threats to Germany was England and Russia. (Patrick Shrier 08/06/2006) On June 22, 1941 the third reich (Nazi Germany) invaded Russia in an attempt crush the nation and the Red Army. Hitler had been planning the invasion at the since 1940 because Russia rejected to be a part of Tripartie, which was supposed to be an alliance between Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia. Hitler wanted the best conditions for his army to succeed the invasion. He originally planned on the invasion taking place late April or early may, because that was when the spring thaw was over and the ground was dry enough for his tanks to move without getting stuck in the muddy terrain. (Patrick Shrier 08/06/2006) Russia was a major superpower during World War 2 because of its size and the raw materials that had major impact on the war. • 7. The Necessity Defense in the Killing of an Innocent Third... 1 Introduction The general defence of necessity has long been disputed. The South African and English legal systems are intrinsically opposite, and neither seem to escape controversy. These systems differ greatly on the legal subject of defence of necessity in the context of killing an innocent third party. The legal aspects of this defence, as well as accompanying problems which may arise, will be briefly discussed in terms of the South African as well as the English law. Utilitarianism and Kantianism will be used to analyse specific case law that made an enormous contribution to the legal dispute regarding necessity. 2 Necessity Necessity can be described as the voluntary conscious decision to break the law in order for a lesser ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to this Constitution, every person has the right to life and the right to equality. With a successful defence of necessity for the murder of an innocent person, these basic human rights would be infringed upon, which is legally unacceptable. Thus, a case should fail when using the defence of necessity for the murder of an innocent person. 2 2 English Law The United Kingdom has no constitution, which is why English law can only be found in the common law of the United Kingdom. This common law does not regard the general defence of necessity as a justification, but rather as an excuse to a crime which is then classified as duress, and it does not recognise the defence of necessity to any murder. The English law, to my opinion, is still quite unclear as to whether or not the ground of justification of necessity, as to the unlawfulness of a crime, is accepted or not. The reason for this is because quite a clear position had been taken up by the courts in the United Kingdom regarding this matter, until the recent case of the conjoined twins, which led to a dispute in the English law as to the ground of justification of necessity. 2 3 Case Law Seen as S v Goliath, R v Dudley and Stephens, and the conjoined twins cases have all set out the legal precedent to which two countries are to be governed by, they will be briefly discussed by using the analogy of Utilitarianism as well as Kantianism. Three stage test: foreseeability, proximity, fair, just and reasonable Caparo v Dickman (1990) 1990 2010. In this stage, under the Caparo test the claimant must make sure and establish that the harm was reasonably predictable, that there was a relationship of proximity and if it is fair just and reasonable to enforce a duty of care. Negligence always involves establishing whether a duty of care exists and who has that duty. A good example is shown in the case of Donoghue v Stevenson 1932. This case introduced the law of negligence and the neighbour test. In this case a friend took Mrs Donoghue went to cafe with a friend and bought her an ice cream and ginger beer. The ginger beer came in a bottle which wasn t clear enough to see the contents inside. After drinking half of her ginger beer she then poured the rest on top of the ice cream when a discomposed snail came out from the bottle. Settlers were 3,000 kilometers away from other settlements, native plants and animals were limited, and its geographic location make the island subject to El Nino s varying conditions (Hunt and Lipo 2007). Despite obstacles unique to Rapa Nui, as compared to its Polynesian neighbors, the people of Rapa Nui were successful before collapse, surviving as one of the world s most remote human outposts (Hunt and Lipo 2012). The cause of collapse is, however (and, of course), a subject of debate over whether natural or anthropogenic factors led to the Rapa Nui s downfall, and a lack of evidence has stopped anthropologists from reaching a more conclusive agreement. A union of the two overarching factors have been suggested, however combination of climatic and anthropogenic causes have been merely hypothesized but not investigated (Louwagie 290). Evidence is present and convincing on both sides, with layered explanations accounting for the rapid decline of a complex, highly functioning society. While researchers such as Jared Diamond and Donald Hughes seek to showcase Rapa Nui as a cautionary tale against the dangers of ecocide, and thus paralleling the modern world, there is an equal pushback to frame the Rapa Nui population as a capable, adaptive, and resilient people who were dealt a bad hand. This was important to me because I can relate this to religion. There isn t a real answer of why things happen the way that they do. It s not in our control but a person can get through the tragedy by surrounding themselves with loved ones. That s what I personally saw while watching the movie because the team rose beyond the ashes by having each other s backs. The win at Marshall University was important because everyone in the town came together to watch the game. It just showed me that life keeps moving on but a person should never forget. In addition, another example is when Jack saw the West Virginia helmet has a MU on the back. This showed the role of religion in the community and how it unites people when times harsh, hence allowing the coaches to watch film in the opposing school s campus. • 15. Self Regulation And Self Regulatory Practices Essay Self regulation is an important part of an individual s everyday life. From the moment a person wakes up until the moment they go to sleep, they are engaging in self regulatory practices throughout much of their day. These self regulatory processes are not only conscious decisions that one makes throughout a variety of situations, but can become deeply imbedded in an individual s way of life. Through a social cognitive perspective, one may define self regulation as producing feelings, thoughts, and actions. These are planned and adapted cyclically in order for one to achieve personal goals in a changing social and physical environment (Zimmerman, 2010, as cited in Durand Bush, McNeill, Harding, Dobransky, 2015, p. 257). One must constantly modify their actions in order to obtain the desired outcome. Self regulation involves looking in retrospect at past actions, evaluating them, and then choosing current behavior to be consistent with desires. For some, self regulatory practices have been built over many years throughout one s life and continue to grow. The individual learns new knowledge and practices that they can incorporate into their lives. Daily actions are motivated by both internal and external forces. According to Ryan and Deci (2000), there is a very important difference between intrinsic and extrinsic kinds of motivation. • 16. Selective Breeding Vs. Natural Selection Selective breeding has been used for many years to achieve the expression of desired traits in animals and plants. Similar to natural selection, humans have developed artificial selection where humans select the most desirable traits instead of the environment, this is what s known as selective breeding. But in fact selective breeding does not select for the fittest phenotype like in natural selection it actually selects for the most desirable phenotypes which may cause harm to the individual. Natural selection selects against harmful alleles as they are disadvantageous to the individual and possibly restricts its ability to survive till the age of sexual reproduction thus not being able to pass on this harmful gene, whereas selective breeding selects for harmful alleles if seen desirable. Selective breeding involves breeding organisms based on their phenotypes so that the desired traits are passed onto successive generations, these desired alleles then increase (in frequency) in the gene pool. This has a large commercial benefit as animal and crop products now contain higher quality meat, quantity of milk, quality of wool, larger fruits etc. The goal of selective breeding in animals is to either produce a pure breed (a breed that will consistently produce offspring with the desired traits or to simply improve the quality of the desired trait/phenotype (homozygous). This is achieved by inbreeding (where two closely related individuals mate and produce offspring) In selective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How strong is the brand story? What are the core brand associations and meaning narratives associated with the brand? The brand story was considered very strong. It is a high end brand that accounts such as Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, etc. appreciated because it was the best performing brand. It could have been too strong, before the repositioning, because it shifted certain segments away. People associated the brand as for older people, well established in their careers as well as a mom/grandmother brand. It had a very strong brand loyalty associated with it. As the company grew older so did its customers. Some people did not want to be associated with that, and did not buy the brand; therefore shifting younger segments away. How healthy is the brand at the time of the case? At the time of the case the brand was healthy but it was at a vulnerable point. They had many more privileges at that time than most women because they were the wives of great noble Romans, and of course Calpurnia was the wife of the leader Julius Caesar. Since Brutus wife, Portia, was the daughter of the successful leader Cato, she was a very powerful Roman. But, they still were treated far from equals of their superior, their husbands. As wives of these specific Romans, they were treated with much higher respect than most women were at that time. Portia as an individual was described as pure in nature, youthful, and very beautiful. I believe that she took being a Roman woman to be quite difficult, and felt very underappreciated because of it. She wanted to show Brutus that she was worthy of his trust and to prove her worth to him, she cut open her thigh. Video Games Help Children With Special Educational Needs This paper explains how video games help children with special educational needs, should children have certain technologies (I.e. phones, tablets, etc.) readily available, and what children enjoy about playing video games. [METHODS?] The findings from this research are that children s fascination in video games, whether with typical development or not, mainly involves the thrill of challenges and the feeling of achievement when winning. When playing video games, children do learn alternate ways to solve problems. Children who play video games may think and learn differently than those who do not play. Those who tend to cheat in a video games may also do the same when academics are involved. A child s academic ethics and effort seems to reflect when playing video games. In other words, children who play a video game with minimal effort seem to give the same amount of effort when academics are concerned. My conclusions include that technology is good for children with special educational needs, it is helpful for young children in that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being bilingual in the technological language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to solve problems. This holiday is celebrated differently all across Louisiana. There are a variety of celebrations including parades and balls. Many historians believe that the first American Mardi Gras took place on March 3, 1699, when the French explorers Iberville and Bienville landed in what is now Louisiana, just south of the holiday s future epicenter: New Orleans. They held a small celebration and dubbed the spot Point du Mardi Gras. In the decades that followed, New Orleans and other French settlements began marking the holiday with street parties, masked balls and lavish dinners. When the Spanish took control of New Orleans, however, they abolished these rowdy rituals, and the bans remained in force until Louisiana became a U.S. state in 1812. Body of Research The origins of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, passing through Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th centuries to the French House of the Bourbons. From here, the traditional revelry of Boeuf Gras, or fatted calf, followed France to her colonies. On March 2, 1699, French Canadian explorer Jean Baptiste Le Moyne Sieur de Bienville arrived at a plot of ground 60 miles directly south of New Orleans, and named it Pointe du Mardi Gras when his men realized it was the eve of the festive holiday. Whereas mordant humor demands mental depth to understand the purpose, blatant impunity messages are accessible and easily created by humorists. As a result, de Botton s claim of humorists serving society is true, provided that the message is dangerous to state blatantly. Humorists revolve heavily around trending topics to help appeal to their audience. This practice lends itself to humorists often becoming politically focused. Ideally, humorists would remove themselves from appearing to be partisan but, as proven during the most recent presidential election, humorists relied upon blatant jabs at both candidates. The basic practice of the architectural space is to reform the object of architecture on the site. The built environment that undergoes continually a transformation and change has evolved to be closely associated with people and the lives of people. At this point, the relationship between architectural and urban voids came into prominence. So, what is the void? How is it designed? And how can the void contact its inside and outside? or What is the potential of voids? Many theorists, architects, and philosophers have asked these questions for over two thousand year but answers are still uncertain. As a general thing, the void is about absence instead of existence, or about nothing instead of a thing. However, it may be said that void as emptiness is defined with a mutual understanding. Void as a conceptual topic could provide the inspiration for art and architecture. The existence of voids could reach to individuals and society thanks to art and architectural works.
