Essay on War in yemen
Yemen a great desert in the Arabic peninsula , located south to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and left to
Oman , has also a shore : mainly on the Red Sea and on the Gulf of Aden. Yemen has some natural
resources (oil) but unfortunately it is considered as the poorest Arabic country. Yemen is now The
Republic of Yemen because of the reunification made on 22nd May 1990. Before that day Yemen was
divided into two separate countries , the first known as the North Yemen Republic which was
controlled by tribes so far the worst tribal system in the world , on the other side , the Yemen of the
South known as the world s worst communist regime. But in 1994 , a civil war turned the south and

The divergence in the atmosphere between the two was getting wider , rumors accusing interventions
by other states (close or far away) were floating everywhere
Just so that the hatred between the colonel and the communist would raise.
Something was needed to cool the atmosphere , and for that a reconciliation became imminent , and
was seen as the only way out. It was Sinan Abullouhoum a great Sheikh of some important tribe who
volunteered him self to sponsor the reconciliation , and so he invited them to his house in Hodayda , a
town between Sana a and Aden (respectively , capital of the north and of the south) and there
everything went smoothly.
Everybody thought that this tension was over between the two but six months after , Mr. Ali Salem El
Bide called those close to him to a special gathering in Abian (a southern City) where Mig23 , Mig29
and Sokhoiy were proving their abilities in the skies , the communist was unofficially planning for
something big , the nation felt it , and fear once again filled the hearts.

Causes Of Gangs
When the word gangs comes to mind, one can immediately picture a big, tall male figure often
covered with tattoos, piercings, and maybe even a bald headed guy. One might think that gangs only
occur in areas like Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and areas illustrated in movies. Gangs are also becoming
more glorified in the media. For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio, some sort of gang
reference will come up. Gangs can often target the young and the vulnerable due to many reasons,
such as peer pressure and fear. Also, they may target someone who is in need and vulnerable for
falling into gang violence and actions.
Some of the direct causes for individuals to join gangs are due to the social aspect. It can be because
of the peer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once you re in, there are only two ways to get out: by dying or running (Martinez Pg 33). Therefore,
sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be involved or to continue being involved in
gangs because they have the fear of being murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures
them into getting involved in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are
typically associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang due to
fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even their death.
Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young people might feel that
they don t receive enough support or attention at home. They may be trying to escape a negative home
life, or may be looking for a father figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support
and to become the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In some cases, individuals who
join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be due to family issues they are
experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in their home. Gangs are often seen in areas
where poor living conditions occur and where social economic statuses are present.Children and teens
living in these circumstances can experience lack of attention simply because the family needs to work
and meet ends meet. This circumstance, which does not seem so malicious, can leave the

The Mistakes of the Brilliant General, Napoleon Bonaparte...
The assumption held by many that Napoleon Bonaparte was a brilliant general and an exceptional
leader is debatable when the Frenchman s many mistakes are revealed. Bonaparte was born to a
wealthy family with previous political connections (Wilde 1). He entered a military academy at only
nine years old and entered the French Army Artillery Regiment seven years later (Wilde 1). As
Bonaparte moved up in the military ranks, he made himself known with his political opinions and his
successful leadership of the revolutionaries armed forces (Wilde 1). As he became more famous,
Bonaparte threw open the gates to his path to power. Thus began the era of Napoleon, a time of
absolute power, vast reform, and relentless military invasions led by a ... Show more content on

His plan backfired, and the French were pinned down in Egypt by the powerful British admiral
Horiato Nelson, which led to Napoleon crawling back to France licking his wounds (McDougal, 584).
Due to the public s ignorance towards this defeat, Napoleon s public image vastly improved, and his
gain in power started to lead to totalitarianism. When the Directory began to lose political popularity
with the common folk, Napoleon led an overthrow of the government (McDougal, 584). The
aftermath of the coup seemed to be flawless; peace had come to Europe for the first time in ten years,
and Napoleon, the most powerful public figure in France, could now focus on re strengthening France
(McDougal, 585). However, the countries of Britain, Austria, and Russia were forming the Second
Coalition, an alliance with the intent to stop Napoleon, behind the scenes of France s post victory
glory (McDougal, 585). Napoleon soon held a plebiscite, or a vote by the people, which made himself
emperor and bestowed total power upon him (McDougal, 585).
As the years passed, Napoleon made many fatal military mistakes that led to the collapse of his empire
and the defiling of the French Revolution s legacy. These mistakes were terminal in three main
campaigns, the Battle of Trafalgar, the Peninsular War, and the invasion attempt on Russia (Wilde, 2).
The battle of Trafalgar was Napoleon s attempt to invade Britain (McDougal, 587). Napoleon s

Essay On Choroidal Melanoma
Choroidal melanoma is the most common intraocular (inside the eye) tumor in adults. Choroidal
melanoma is the most common cancer of the eye. It originates from the pigmented cells of the choroid
of the eye, it is not like other tumors that starts in other parts of the body and then spreads to the eye.
Choroidal melanoma is malignant; it can metastasize and eventually spread to other parts of the body.
In COMS (The Collaborative Ocular Melanoma Study) states that choroidal melanoma initially
appearing as a small freckle beneath the retina, choroidal melanoma can grow in height and diameter,
and may eventually spread to other organs of the body, causing death. Since choroidal melanoma is an
intraocular tumor, and therefore usually not seen, patients with this disease often do not recognize the
presence of this tumor until it grows to a size such that it decreases vision either by obstruction ,
retinal detachment, bleeding or other complications. Pain usually does not occur except with large
tumors.
In Eye Cancer states that most of the choroidal melanoma patients has no symptoms, the best way to
detect this lesion early is to perform periodic evaluations of the retina under dilatation. Patients
suffering from melanoma have blurry vision caused if the tumor is ... Show more content on

Small or suspicious melanomas (those with a height less than 3 mm) are kept under close observation
for growth before treatment is started. Medium sized tumors (those between 3 and 6 mm in height)
can be treated with either radiation therapy or enucleation; it has been determined that both treatments
prevent the spread of cancer. In large sized tumors (those greater than 6 mm in height), the treatment
of choice is usually enucleation. This is because the eye would not be able to tolerate the amount of
radiation that will need to treat a tumor of this size. The COMS study showed no benefit in

David Harvey
David Harvey, in his work The Condition of Postmodernity , argues that ... [T]he only secure thing
about modernity is its insecurity, its penchant, even, for totalizing chaos. In essence, Harvey believes
that the idea of modernity is a hypocritical idealism in which present day aspects of life are reflective
of underlying conflicting attributes expressed by the general population. In present day, our lives are
irrefutably impacted by technological advances, and as a result of the presence of such technologies
that allow us to perform labors such as mass production, the definition of modernity is skewed by
people s diminishing respects for original works and the rising demands for maximum efficiency.

When looked at in a modern perspective, in most cases the concept of originality is eluded because we
arrive at the conclusion that if we wish to view a specific work with our eyes, we just need to simply
search for the name of the work in Google Images to be presented with a digital representation of the
very image without having to partake in the hassle of leaving the house to go to an exhibition miles
away to see the original image up close. It seems that the idea of authenticity and aura lacks
importance nowadays because of the prevailing standard that if one wishes to present their
masterpiece work for acclaim, one should prioritize the accessibility for viewing of the work in order
to gain attention. Ergo, Benjamin s argument holds true to present day values in that technological
reproducibility has considerably reduced mankind s appreciation for aura to a point where even the
mere thought of a here and now is rare

Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna
Abstract
Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under
consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species
occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock
surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a
question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two
phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA
was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the
total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cm².
The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site.
The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/
volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cm³. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site,
followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site,
intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site.

The New City Of New York
It was not easy for Johnny to move into a new city. It was very problematic for him to move into a
new city because he knew no one, and he had no friends. The new city that Johnny moved into was
New York. It is also known as The Big Apple. That city has a population of 8.6 million people. New
York has many attractions. Examples of them are: Empire State Building, Statue Of Liberty and Time
Square. Johnny always had a dream to go to New York and see these attractions, but he did not picture
it like this. He did not imagine himself living with his family all bored. He imagined himself partying
all night, having friends and having fun. This did not happen. Johnny had multiple problems when he
came into New York. Moving in was not his only one. He also had to face the troubles of going to a
new middle school. The new school that Johnny had transferred to was Cornwall Collegiate
Vocational School. It was a very big school, but very old. The school was old because it was built in
the year 1806. Johnny had a hard time fitting in because he was getting bullied by a kid in his class.
His name is Jack Foster. Jack was not an average kid. He was much bigger and stronger than any
regular kid. Jack is a 7 foot 3 humanoid . He weighs 197 pounds and is very tall. Jack is the most
muscular kid in his class. Some words that will describe Jack s character are the following: strong,
selfish, greedy, uncaring and cruel. Jack has one very big interest, and that is bullying kids. Jack

Analyzing The Death Of Polonius In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Throughout William Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the protagonist, Hamlet, seeks to kill Claudius out of
revenge for his father s death. However the death of Polonius is often overlooked and is widely
accepted as a mistake made by Hamlet. Polonius is the Lord Chamber under Claudius and helps
Claudius manipulate his way to the throne. He is also a controlling father to Laertes and Ophelia. As
Claudius becomes more concerned and suspicious about Hamlet, Polonius stays faithful to Claudius
by deviously spying on Hamlet. The murder of Polonius is a direct result of his manipulative
character. Eric Sterling s literary criticism entitled Shakespeare s Hamlet, focuses on Polonius death
and how he wasn t mistakenly killed by Hamlet. From the series of events that took place directly
before Polonius s death in Act 3 Scene 3, it would have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Furthermore, Sterling points out how it is illogical for hamlet to assume that Claudius is the one
behind the curtain as right before Hamlet goes to talk to Gertrude he passes the kneeling Claudius and
mistakenly believes that the king is praying (Sterling par. 2). This indicates that it would not make
sense that Claudius would arrive in Gertrude s Room and hide before Hamlets arrival. In addition
Polonius s disapproval of Hamlet for his daughter Ophelia, who Hamlet is in love with, would be
another motive for Hamlet to commit this crime. Despite the numerous motives Hamlet has to kill
Polonius his ultimate revenge, as instructed by the ghost, is to kill Claudius and thus, to sanction his
murder of Polonius, the prince must pretend that he mistakes the courtier for Claudius (Sterling par.

Marcus Aurelius Philosophy is Unique
Philosophy usually makes people think of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle and/ or a class that looks to
view life and various subjects in a different way (Maybe use multiple perspectives in philosophy there

Remember The Name Analysis
Remember the Name (Radio Edit) is a song very similar to my life. Not only does this show my love
of hip hop and rap music, but it represents me as a person. The chorus line that repeats throughout the
song, This is 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain, and 100%
reason to remember the name... represents how hard I have to work in school and sports, especially
lacrosse and water polo throughout my everyday life. Another quote, He doesn t need his name up in

and to become known throughout history, but I believe that there are people who don t always want
that. Next, Put it together himself, now the picture connects. Never askin for someone s help and get

me of my own. He never asks for anyone s help, he works hard for what he wants all by himself.

The Funeral Of Baroness Thatcher
The amazing thing about the funeral of Baroness Thatcher was the size of the crowds, and the next
amazing thing was that they were so relatively well behaved. The BBC had done its best to foment an
uprising.
With habitual good taste, they played Ding Dong the witch is dead on taxpayer public radio. Asked to
find some commentators to give an instant reaction to the death of Britain s greatest post war prime
minister an event that was not exactly unforeseen they reached instinctively for Gerry Adams and Ken
Livingstone, two of her bitterest foes if you exclude the Tory wets, that is.
As her cortege wound its way from St Brides to St Paul s there were a few people so stupid that they
heckled the mortal remains of an 87 year old woman. A few turned their backs. Some wore twerpish
Guy Fawkes masks or carried signs saying Boo . But the mass of humanity was on her side, and when
the dissenters erupted they were swiftly drowned by cries of shhh or calculated volleys of applause.
I know all this partly from media accounts and partly because I walked through the crowds and I saw
how various her mourners were. There were some tweedy types and some suited thrusters, and people
who would generally not look out of place at a Tory party conference.
But there were also people from all over London, immigrants of every race and colour people that the
BBC might not have marked down, perhaps, as natural Thatcherites and yet who had come to pay
their respects to a woman who spoke to

Essay on The Deportation of Acadians
Colonists from France came to Canada and settled in Acadia also known as present day east coast
colonies during the seventeenth century. The name given to the French colonists from the time of
arrival to Canada was the Acadians . The Acadians from France continued their formal lifestyle by
farming, fishing and maintaining a close family oriented culture in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland,
Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. The Acadians had created a prosperous agriculture
economy up until the late eighteenth century, when there was a colonial struggle in power between the
French and the British. British had conquered Port Royal and the Acadians refused to recognize

Activities such as fishing, mining, and agriculture were ways in which the east coast had an abundant
of resources. Fish, salt and livestock were the food the Acadian s relied on for survival, so it was
important that enough resources were available in the East coast. There was a direct route for due to
the geographic location of their settlement being right on the coast line. They resided close to the Bay
of Fundy making it easier for them to trade with others coming into the colony. By living close to
waterways the Acadians were able to make a living by trading with other colonies and continue
providing their families with food and resources for a formal lifestyle. Geographically, Nova Scotia
was a great place for their agriculture and in which it boosted their economy. Therefore Nova Scotia,
Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick were lands where the Acadians could
continue the lifestyles and continue to provide for their families due to the fertile soils making
agriculture and livestock an easy transition from former life. The economies were able to increase with
resources being so profitable and promising. The British and French colonies were struggling with
colonial powers but the British conquered and rising tensions begun. The British colonies thought the

Essay about Developing and Learning
Introduction.
In this assignment the writer will compare and contrast the theories of Piaget and Vygotsky. To begin,
the writer will discuss Piaget s theory of cognitive development, followed by Vygotsky s theory of
cognitive development. The writer will then discuss any implications of Piaget s and Vygotsky s
models for teaching and learning in the school years. In order to do this she will compare the two
theories and look at any relevant evidence and research. After comparing both theories of cognitive
development, the writer will do a brief summary of the two theories. Concluding her findings and how
the two theories contrast each other.

Children begin to think, however thinking at this stage is still different to the way that adults think.

preoperational stage, children?s abilities are limited. One limitation is the inability to take the
perspective of another individual, this is known as ?egocentrism? (Smith, Cowie, Blades 2011 P.390).
A child may well presume that everyone has the same knowledge as they do without taking into
consideration another person?s point of view.
Throughout the concrete operational stage, which occurs between seven and twelve years of age,
children begin to think logically. (Wood, 2008 P.47). Children at this stage are able to think logically
about the world and gain the ability to manipulate their mental representations to think and solve
problems. Children in this stage have an understanding of conservation. For example, if sand was
poured from a tall thin container into a short wide container, they would understand that the quantity is
the same as before.
The last stage is the formal operational stage, which occurs during early adolescence. This is when
cognitive development reaches its peak. According to Smith (2003), Piaget believed that individuals at
this stage gain the ability to ?reason hypothetically? (Smith, Cowie, Blades, 2011 P.408).

Stereotypes In Nursing Essay
Why is nursing mainly a women s career? Women are seen as caregivers, therefore the role of a nurse
is adequate for a woman since she women are supposed to be nurturing and caring. Nursing is often
considered women s work, so often times males shy away from the career resulting in a few male
nurses and many female nurses. As a result, many of the stereotypes associated with nursing are
gender based. An RCN policy adviser and mental health nurse from Nursing Times: Why Are There
So Few Men in Nursing, says: I think public perception is still that it is a female occupation (Nursing
Times). Another common stereotype is that nurses are just wannabe doctors. These stereotypes and

Misconceptions and stereotypes are very common in everyday live and individuals can choose to
believe them or seek out the real truth behind them. Many stereotypes and misconceptions are gender
and/or group based. It is said to be believed that women are more carving and nurturing so they fit the
role of a nurse in helping others. This stereotype is untrue because many men can be great caregivers
and nurturing people. Another stereotype is that nurses are just wannabe doctors but in reality if one
wanted to be a doctor then they can just take the extra years of college to become one. Related to this
is how men should be doctors and women should be nurses but either men or women can both be great
at either profession. In the end it does not matter what people have to say as long as one lives what
they do and enjoy the benefits of their profession. Everyone is always going to have something
negative to say but people can just take this as a motivation to fulfill their dreams and do what they
have a passion for. Stereotypes and misconceptions may not ever fully go away but everyone can

Candles, A Remarkable, Yet Simple Creation
Candles are a remarkable, yet simple creation. Understanding the origin of candles, types of candles,
benefits, uses, and how they work is most often ignored. Fragrant smells and vibrant colors can
occasionally overpower their overall importance. The history of candles may be unknown in some
instances, but studies have found evidence relating back to the Ancient Egyptians before 3,000 B.C. It
has also been found that the Ancient Romans developed the wicked candle later after 3,000 B.C.
(Communications, 2015) For hundreds of centuries, the creation of the candle has remained popular
for its uses throughout the world. Although candles continue to have admirable qualities throughout
their existence, explanation of candles often goes unnoticed and overlooked. Candle waxes have a
complex history along with several uses and benefits suitable for use in situations, such as when the
power goes out or to ward off bugs.
Origin
The history of candles may be unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence relating
back to the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians used torches or other known as rushlights. The
cores of the reeds of torches, were soaked in melted animal fat and lit with a fire source. Although
unlike a true candle, the torches or rushlights did not have a wick. Later after 3,000 B.C., the Ancient
Romans developed the wicked candle. Rolled papyrus was dipped in melted animal fat (also known as
tallow) or beeswax then lit with fire. The light from the flame

Account for the Failure of Nationalist Movements in...
Account for the general failure of nationalist movements in Southeast Asia in the period 1900 1941.
The failure to achieve political independence of pre war nationalism in Southeast Asia was mainly due
to the interplay of nationalist factors, impact of colonial response and inherent society composition.
Nationalist disunity watered down mass support which was key to success, while colonial rule
hindered the development of nationalism and the nature Southeast Asian society made unification hard
to achieve. Different causes had different level of significance in different countries. Firstly, the
ideological disunity among nationalist manifested through the existence of a myriad of different

Furthermore the SCBA was in fact pro British and even aided Britain in her war effort. In the
Philippines, sincere American concessions such as Filipinization and mass education to equip local
leaders with requisite training for office left the nationalists with little scope to agitate over, resulting
in placid movements like Partido Nacionalista. This showed how colonial concession was a hindrance
to the politicization of movements. Lastly colonial implementation of carrot and stick concurrently
exacerbated the existing divisions between nationalists groups making a unified front impossible. In
Burma the British harshly suppressed the radical pongyis which had the mass mobilization ability but
was benevolent towards the moderate Western educated politicians who were able to achieve
constitutional progress. In Malaya the British emphasized on policies protecting Malay rights in
administration and land, leading to a series of Chinese and Indian movements demanding equal racial
rights such as the SCBA and CIAM. This divide and rule policy ruled out the possibility of a
combination of mass support and political capability which will then challenge the colonial
government. In addition, the very nature of Southeast Asian society was that it is deeply divided along

Use Of Force And Police Brutality
Abstract The unnecessary use of force use the police officers is referred to as police use of excessive
force and police brutality. Both excessive force and police brutality involve physical contact with a
law enforcement officer with a citizen or civilian. Physical contact and police brutality can both lead
to death. It is entirely within the police officer discretion the type of force to use during an arrest.
Maybe a police officer s cannot handle making the correct judgment call, or perhaps having too much
power affects their ability to perform their job effectively. This behavior has to stop, police brutality
needs to end today. Society distrust for police has gotten worse over the years. The police need to
rebuild the trust again in America. Police brutality is a growing epidemic. According to Statics, (2015)
in the United States, a police officer takes the life of a citizen every 7 hours. In 2015, there were 1,307
people who lost their lives at the hands of a police officer or law enforcement official. In 2016, that
number was 1,152. Although lower, both years are still higher than the 1,149 people who were killed
by police in 2014. (Fatal Encounters/Mapping Police Violence) Whereas, 69% of the victims of police
brutality in the United States who are African American/Black were suspected of a non violent crime
and were unarmed. (Mapping Police Violence) Consequently, the police officers are indicted in less
than 1% of killings, but the indictment rate for civilians involved in a killing is 90%. As a result,
police officers do not have a set of laws that apply to them. Since police brutality is high, society now
distrusts law enforcement because of their higher rate of police brutality. In order to regain the trust of
society, police brutality must STOP or maybe the police community relationship beyond repair.
Presently, the duties of a police officer, also known as a law enforcement officer, focus on protecting
people and property. They patrol the areas they are assigned, which sometimes include entire
jurisdictions respond to calls enforce laws make arrests issue citations, and Occasionally testify in
court cases However, the safety of officers and

Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place
For many people there is a sweet smell, a pleasing photograph, the familiar sound of happiness that
bring them back to a place full of childhood images. In my life, I was lucky enough to have traveled to
some of the most beautiful places on Earth. I have swum with the dolphins in crystal blue sea of

Kingsolver writes, I have a place where all my stories begin, and my story began at a lake house
located on the water edge of Little Toad Lake, Minnesota. (Kingsolver 939). It is where I spent half
my life with my dog (Spike), sister, mom, and dad, through the hot summer days and freezing winter
months. The house was built on the side of a steep hill leading down to a beach front lake. The main
entrance had a big double iron door which lead into the living room overlooking the lake. The main
living area had several big windows which let in a brilliant of sunlight onto the dark walnut floor. The
fireplace mantle displays a big moose head that my dad shot on his hunting trip to Alaska (his prize
possession). My favorite place of the house would be the kitchen. That s where all my lessons of
cooking started. Thank you to my mom for teaching me the value of cooking. If it wasn t for her I

Dendroctonus Ponderosae
In the pacific northwest, there exists an insect the size of an apple seed. It feeds on the phloem of
trees, leaving them mutilated, their bark eviscerated and leaking sawdust. Victims of choice include
lodgepoles, western white pines, and ponderosa, but any gymnosperm will do. For the mountain pine
beetle, Dendroctonus ponderosae, the invasion means reproductive success. For the tree, it means slow
death.
Though the beetle chooses the victim, it is the fungus it carries, Grosmannia clavigera, that delivers
the fatal blow (Safranyik and Carroll 2006). Working in tandem with the insect, the fungus spreads
across the surface of the trunk, dismantling all defenses. So refined is this relationship that the beetles
store the fungus in specialized containers. Sap, which trees use to wash out offending beetles,
crystallizes, forming a pitch cap characteristic of infected trees. Cut off from nutrients, the host begins
to wither away. It can be a slow process, with some trees standing, in limbo, for up to a decade. ...

distinguish adults from other insects, and an appetite for wood helps distinguish the 600 species of
bark beetle from other beetles. Unlike many tree invaders, however, which preferentially target the

waited to arrive at Disney World the next morning. The night before, Joy and all of her siblings
decided swimming and playing on the play grounds was the way to occupy their time.
Tuesday morning the family woke up at 8:00 a.m. and ate a quick breakfast prior to beginning their
short journey to the Disney World theme park. All of the children, including Joy were extremely
excited to arrive at Disney World because it would be their first time. They left the campground at

entire drive to Disney World Joy thought it was all just a dream. But, upon arriving to the actual theme
park of Disney World, Joy realized her dream was really a reality and she shed tears of excitement.
Disney World is a magic kingdom full of people, buildings, song and dance, food like homemade
fudge, horse drawn street cars and horseless carriages, statues and Disney characters. Joys family
adventure began by entering through a tunnel just below a train station before they landed right in
front of cinderella s castle. Since the experience was nothing like what joy had even been through

The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the mid Ming Dynasty to the end of the

from 1406 to 1420 by the third Ming emperor Yongle, who upon usurping the throne, determined to

bridge, or we would face our greatest fears. David and Olivia both went on the first bridge. Then the
bridge disappeared. So I decided to go on the second bridge. And that bridge was unstable, and I fell.
But David caught me in time.
David s spirit animal helped fly us to see the goldfish. Once we arrived there, I asked the goldfish,

Causes Of The Treaty Of Versaille
On July 28 1919, the Treaty of Versaille was signed (Treaty of Versaille). Before the signing the
Kaiser fled the country in November 1918 (Llewellyn, J. Weimar Republic Timeline ) and the SDP
(Social Democratic Party) leader Philipp Scheidemann made Germany into the Weimar Republic (
Llewellyn, J. Weimar Republic Timeline ). Germany at the time had thought that the Treaty would be
based on the Woodrow Wilson s original 14 points that were made in january 8 1918( fourteen points
). Later on these points would be re evaluated at the Paris Peace Conference and altered( Todd, Allan
). Germany felt cheated as they already had requested peace negotiations with Woodrow Wilson on
October 3 to 4 1918 ( fourteen points ). The Treaty of Versaille had ... Show more content on

The Treaty got rid of 13% of their land 10% of their population with most of their land being
economically beneficial (Todd, Allan). The reason why some historians believe that the Treaty of
Versaille was the root cause of economic failure is because of the war guilt clause, Article 231.
ARTICLE 231 The Allied and Associated Governments affirm and Germany accepts the responsibility
of Germany and her allies for causing all the loss and damage to which the Allied and Associated
Governments and their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of the war imposed upon them
by the aggression of Germany and her allies. (Treaty of Peace). With their land loss and population
decrease Germany was only able to pay 2.5% of their annual GDP for reparations(HANTKE, MAX).
They were expected to pay 230 million gold marks which they could only offer 30 million gold marks
(20th century international relations). With most of their population missing and with less land they
can produce less than they could before the war while they have to make more than before because of
the war guilt clause of Article 231. That s why the the treaty is significant to the economic collapse of
Germany and why some historians would believe that this was the root cause

Contemporary Appretation Of Contemporary Interpretations...
Contemporary Interpretations of Sacred Scripture:
Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen. I would like to begin by extending a warm welcome to todays
seminar that will dive into all things regarding religion and its place in a modern society. I will be
solely focusing on a contemporary expression that shows similarities and differences to a sacred text
of Christianity. So why is this of importance? The ever growing world we live in can often make it
difficult for traditions to be maintained in community s due to their arguably outdated form and
language. However, these values, messages and themes can be showcased and interpreted by viewers
in modern expressions such as film, song and poetry. The animated 2008 film Wall E, directed by
Andrew Stanton generally showcases the purpose of the story Adam and Eve. This is because of its
ability to teach the concept of straying from Gods way of life and the negative impacts leading a
greedy and consumerist lifestyle can have. The ways in which it showcases the ideas in both the parent
and derivative text can be seen in the interpretations of the central message as well as the context and
purpose of both pieces.
The central message of Wall E and the story of Adam and Eve is very similar. The story of Adam and
Eve reported in Genesis chapter two versus four until chapter three versus twenty four is commonly
associated with the teaching of the original sin, fall and death as well as human s decision in following
God s commands. Wall E

The Effects Of Lowering Stress On College Students
There isn t a better, more comforting feeling, than coming home after a long, hard day at work or
school and being welcomed at the door with a wagging tail, wet kisses, and an excited to see you face
from your dog. For many, having any sort of interaction with a pet or animal is the ultimate cure to
stress that is caused by work, people, and life. While not every college student is able to have a loving
pet in their lives, even a momentary encounter with any animal can lower stress and anxiety levels.
Multiple studies have proven that animals are a powerful form of stress relief by not only lowering
blood pressure, but also lowering a dangerous stress hormone, cortisol, which is correlated with
depression and anxiety. Interactions with animals have also proven to raise oxytocin levels, which are
linked to pleasure, relaxation and happiness. Lowering stress and anxiety in college students will help
them academically and socially throughout their college lives. College students will experience lower
stress levels, a lower level of cortisol, and live a happier stress free life by interacting with animals or
pets throughout their time in college.
With more and more college students becoming depressed and anxious, researchers have been
working hard to try and improve college student lifestyles. According to Therese Borchard, associate
editor of World of Psychology, at least 44 percent of American college students reported feeling
symptoms of depression this past year (Borchard).

Abuse Of OTC Drugs
Every year, teens and adults abuse over the counter (OTC) drugs. Drugs that are accessible through
local pharmacies and drug stores. Supplements like these are developed to help and aid the user,
however, they are abused commonly. This can lead to serious physical and mental injuries when not
used correctly. At worst cases, it results in death. In the past, many celebrities and role models for kids
such as Prince, Michael Jackson and even Drake have used or written about using OTC drugs.
Because of this, kids think it is okay to use OTC drugs and believe it is cool . Therefore, by raising
awareness of the dangers of OTC drugs, less people would be at risk and less people would abuse over
the counter drugs.
It is well known that by abusing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many households today, the dangers of drugs like alcohol and marijuana are discussed, however,
over the counter drugs are left out of the discourse. A study done by Partnership for a Drug Free
America, 2009 revealed that 15% of youth reported that the problems of OTC drugs were discussed
with their parents. By raising the number of parents that discuss the severity of OTC drug abuse with
their kids, less youths may take advantage of them. A study conducted by Davis and Spillman (2011)
revealed that parental disapproval of drug use was the second leading reason why youth did not use
drugs. Schools should work with parents and communities to address the issue of youth substance
abuse. Thus, OTC drug abuse is similar to that of other substances such as alcohol, tobacco and
marijuana. Youth substance abuse is often undertaken as a means to befriend substance abusing peers
and to be socially accepted (Mrug, Gaines, Su, Windle,

Similarities Between Sherlock Holmes And John Doyle
Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth
claimed Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. These words would come to influence some of the greatest and most
renowned characters of any and all detective esque literature: Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.
Doyle s work Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles became incredibly popular and was
eventually recognized as an American classic. Through his novel, Doyle portrays a fantastic use of the
elements of fiction and takes advantage of them in order to provide depth and understanding. The
novel first takes place in the 1880 s, in London, at Sherlocks famous office on 221B Baker Street. This
is only prominent in the beginning because the setting changes ... Show more content on

A major characteristic of Watson is loyal, Well you know what my instructions are. I am sorry to
intrude, but Holmes insisted that I should not leave you (Doyle 124). He very rarely strays from the
instructions Sherlock has given him and takes his role as Henry s temporary bodyguard fairly
seriously. He even later says in a letter to Sherlock, I imagined what my feelings would be if I had to
return to you and confess to you that some misfortune had occurred through my disregard for your
instructions, (Doyle 125). Watson holds in high regard the things that Sherlock says to him and will
always attempt to follow what he says with intent to please him. Jack Stapleton and Henry Baskerville
are the other two semi major characters in The Hound of the Baskervilles. Henry is a driving force for
the plot as he is the reason Watson and Sherlock are involved in the first place. He starts off as a fairly
adventurous, semi laid back character, but develops throughout the story to end up like his late uncle:
Worn out. On the other hand, Jack Stapleton is our antagonist. He starts off seemingly harmless, but

Tatiana s Sex Advice for All Creations by Olivia Hudson
Tatiana s Sex Advice for All Creations, by Olivia Hudson is not only informative, and interesting but
humorous and revealing. Throughout this book it explains why all creatures, not only humans, are
interested in their sex life. Sex itself, and the reproduction process is why certain breeds are carried
through century after century and others go extinct. Hudson has a way of explaining the importance of
performance, timing, technique, and interest when it comes to sex, and how all of these concepts make
a huge difference in those who have the opportunity to reproduce and those who do not. She also
discusses how important sex is to all creatures because without it, this world would be nothing. My
view on sex and biology changed completely after reading this book. It shows an emphasis on the
physical and mental reasons for things and a lot less on the biological reasoning. It helped me
understand that sex is more important them many really think.
Olivia Hudson graduated from Stanford University and received a Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford
University. She is a well known science writer who has won prices such as the Glaxo Wellcome Prize
by the British Science Writers Association. Hudson is also a research fellow at the Imperial College of
London. She is credited for being able to write about science in a witty manner without losing the
importance of the scientific integrity. Hudson has participated in numerous science blogs, written
articles, and has been in a TV

The Ones Who Walk Away From 1861-1865
The perception of reality and morality differs from individual to individual, from community to
community. The different cultures throughout the world provide breeding grounds to many different
kinds of ethical values and societies. In The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, the author Ursula
Leguin, creates a society that may be perceived as corrupt and unfair, yet is not too different from our
own. Omelas is neither a city of happiness nor a Utopia; it is a city of paradox, of false freedom and
desperation. The people of Omelas live lives full of happiness and comfort, over a rotten foundation of
an abused and abandoned child. Yet Leguin sympathizes with the ones who choose to stay in Omelas
for she believes that they are helpless, stuck in the paradox of moral obligations and moral values. The
Omeleans stay for they live in denial, creating a reality different from ours. To them, they either
believe it is truly moral to uphold the community, with the sacrifice of one child, or they live in
Omelas as an obligation, infinitely appreciative for the child sacrifice. The ones who leave however,
do not want to feel obligation, to rely on this child for happiness. They want to be responsible for their
own happiness. Unfortunately, similar to the Omeleans, Americans consume hundreds of pounds of
meat a day; hundreds of cows, chicken and pigs brutally handled and abused for the pleasure of our
taste buds. The citizens of Omelas who choose to stay are merely residents living in

(Boggs, Petrie, 2008) For them to create objects they first start with a blank screen and then they set
the scale of the computer to coordinate with the system for that element. The scale size usually is
anything from microns to light years across in size which are important and should be consistent with
all the elements in the project so the layers of lines are built up to the patches and that creates the
model that defines the shape of the object. (Boggs, Petrie, 2008) The modeler contains the power of
design; which the animator provides the illusion of life. The animator also uses tools to make objects
move which helps the animation process begin the same way, with a storyboard. A storyboard is a
series of still images that shows how the elements will move and interact with each other. This process
is important to the animator because it helps decide what movements need to be assigned to objects in
the animation. The animator must also have key points of movements for each object in the scene.
This helps the computer to produce motion for each object in a frame by frame sequence. The final
product when put together, gives the look of fluid movement which when the modeler is formed, the
animator provides motion. These designs and elements are nothing but empty or hollow forms

Why Is The Painted Door Important
The importance that kindness plays in an individual s life, is almost as important as recognizing the
kindness shown towards the individual by others. In the realistic fictional short story The Painted
Door by Sinclair Ross, explores the ideals of wanting what you don t have. The protagonist of the
short story, Ann has been isolated for society for the better part of 5 years with her husband John. The

Ann superficiality is a recurring theme that is often repeated. How she is disappointed with her dull
life with john. As a result of her superficial tendencies she misses what s truly important in her life.

The Effects of a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction...
Introduction
In the realm of anxiety disorders, research on younger populations falls behind in comparison to
studies on anxiety disorders in adults. (Mohr Schneider, 2013) Anxiety is one of the most common
psychiatric disorders among school age children, and yet there is still so much more to be known
about its development and treatment. (Kessler et al., 2005). Anxiety in school age children can be an
issue that interferes with achievement in school. The constant interference can cause disruption in a
child s ability retain and process information as well as focus in the classroom. (Semple, Lee, Rosa,
Miller, 2010). Anxiety in children often manifests as a disruption in attention. In turn, the
consequential lack of success in school can lead to more anxiety due to a student s negative self
judgment (Gordon, 1977). This circle of cognitive interference in school and the following negative
self judgment by the child is one that can lead to increasing levels of anxiety. There have been
multiple forms of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that have shown some promise as treatments for
childhood anxiety (Sullkowski, Joyce, Storch, 2011). However with an increasing prevalence of
childhood psychiatric disorders, there is still somewhat of lack of research in to the use of
psychological interventions to treat them (Semple, Reid, Miller, 2005). There have been studies on the
uses of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in children. A majority of the studies on the uses of CBT

Id, Ego, And Superego In The Lady With The Pet Dog
In Joyce Oates short story The Lady with the Pet Dog, the main character, Anna, represents the Id,
Ego, and Superego characteristics defined by Sigmund Freud. Anna is facing her morals (Superego)
and feelings (Id), being confined to a marriage and detesting her affair. Because Anna is forced to
balance a failing marriage, and loving her husband, while also loving a man who s not her husband,
and not loving him because she can t, builds stress inside her and leads to rash desires and actions.
Anna displays Freud s Id characteristics throughout, the things she wants most are life and love. Anna
is in the middle of a dysfunctional marriage and starts an affair with another man. Her Id psyche is
prevalent when her husband says that he loves her, but she thinks about her lover saying ...if betraying
him (her husband) it would give her life a center (Oates 239). Anna s unconscious immature Id psyche
thinks that the only way for her to have a purpose in life is to be with her lover, only looking for
pleasure and not thinking about the consequences (McLeod). The Id is overlooking the common logic,
she is married and her lover is married too, which is morally wrong, overriding the Superego. Anna s
Id can be compared to that of a child s, like a kid at the store who asks his mom for candy, and when
she says no he decides to steal the candy. In contrast, Anna says ....of course she was married,
permanently married (Oates 246). Anna still can t make up her mind about her

Something was needed to cool the atmosphere , and for that a reconciliation became imminent , and was seen as the only way out. It was Sinan Abullouhoum a great Sheikh of some important tribe who volunteered him self to sponsor the reconciliation , and so he invited them to his house in Hodayda , a town between Sana a and Aden (respectively , capital of the north and of the south) and there everything went smoothly. Everybody thought that this tension was over between the two but six months after , Mr. Ali Salem El Bide called those close to him to a special gathering in Abian (a southern City) where Mig23 , Mig29 and Sokhoiy were proving their abilities in the skies , the communist was unofficially planning for something big , the nation felt it , and fear once again filled the hearts. • 3. Causes Of Gangs When the word gangs comes to mind, one can immediately picture a big, tall male figure often covered with tattoos, piercings, and maybe even a bald headed guy. One might think that gangs only occur in areas like Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and areas illustrated in movies. Gangs are also becoming more glorified in the media. For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio, some sort of gang reference will come up. Gangs can often target the young and the vulnerable due to many reasons, such as peer pressure and fear. Also, they may target someone who is in need and vulnerable for falling into gang violence and actions. Some of the direct causes for individuals to join gangs are due to the social aspect. It can be because of the peer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once you re in, there are only two ways to get out: by dying or running (Martinez Pg 33). Therefore, sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be involved or to continue being involved in gangs because they have the fear of being murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures them into getting involved in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are typically associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang due to fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even their death. Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young people might feel that they don t receive enough support or attention at home. They may be trying to escape a negative home life, or may be looking for a father figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support and to become the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In some cases, individuals who join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be due to family issues they are experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in their home. Gangs are often seen in areas where poor living conditions occur and where social economic statuses are present.Children and teens living in these circumstances can experience lack of attention simply because the family needs to work and meet ends meet. • 4. The Mistakes of the Brilliant General, Napoleon Bonaparte... The assumption held by many that Napoleon Bonaparte was a brilliant general and an exceptional leader is debatable when the Frenchman s many mistakes are revealed. Bonaparte was born to a wealthy family with previous political connections (Wilde 1). He entered a military academy at only nine years old and entered the French Army Artillery Regiment seven years later (Wilde 1). As Bonaparte moved up in the military ranks, he made himself known with his political opinions and his successful leadership of the revolutionaries armed forces (Wilde 1). As he became more famous, Bonaparte threw open the gates to his path to power. Thus began the era of Napoleon, a time of absolute power, vast reform, and relentless military invasions led by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His plan backfired, and the French were pinned down in Egypt by the powerful British admiral Horiato Nelson, which led to Napoleon crawling back to France licking his wounds (McDougal, 584). Due to the public s ignorance towards this defeat, Napoleon s public image vastly improved, and his gain in power started to lead to totalitarianism. When the Directory began to lose political popularity with the common folk, Napoleon led an overthrow of the government (McDougal, 584). The aftermath of the coup seemed to be flawless; peace had come to Europe for the first time in ten years, and Napoleon, the most powerful public figure in France, could now focus on re strengthening France (McDougal, 585). However, the countries of Britain, Austria, and Russia were forming the Second Coalition, an alliance with the intent to stop Napoleon, behind the scenes of France s post victory glory (McDougal, 585). Napoleon soon held a plebiscite, or a vote by the people, which made himself emperor and bestowed total power upon him (McDougal, 585). As the years passed, Napoleon made many fatal military mistakes that led to the collapse of his empire and the defiling of the French Revolution s legacy. These mistakes were terminal in three main campaigns, the Battle of Trafalgar, the Peninsular War, and the invasion attempt on Russia (Wilde, 2). The battle of Trafalgar was Napoleon s attempt to invade Britain (McDougal, 587). Napoleon s specialty was land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It originates from the pigmented cells of the choroid of the eye, it is not like other tumors that starts in other parts of the body and then spreads to the eye. Choroidal melanoma is malignant; it can metastasize and eventually spread to other parts of the body. In COMS (The Collaborative Ocular Melanoma Study) states that choroidal melanoma initially appearing as a small freckle beneath the retina, choroidal melanoma can grow in height and diameter, and may eventually spread to other organs of the body, causing death. • 8. David Harvey David Harvey, in his work The Condition of Postmodernity , argues that ... [T]he only secure thing about modernity is its insecurity, its penchant, even, for totalizing chaos. In essence, Harvey believes that the idea of modernity is a hypocritical idealism in which present day aspects of life are reflective of underlying conflicting attributes expressed by the general population. In present day, our lives are irrefutably impacted by technological advances, and as a result of the presence of such technologies that allow us to perform labors such as mass production, the definition of modernity is skewed by people s diminishing respects for original works and the rising demands for maximum efficiency. When looked at in a modern perspective, in most cases the concept of originality is eluded because we arrive at the conclusion that if we wish to view a specific work with our eyes, we just need to simply search for the name of the work in Google Images to be presented with a digital representation of the very image without having to partake in the hassle of leaving the house to go to an exhibition miles away to see the original image up close. It seems that the idea of authenticity and aura lacks importance nowadays because of the prevailing standard that if one wishes to present their masterpiece work for acclaim, one should prioritize the accessibility for viewing of the work in order to gain attention. Ergo, Benjamin s argument holds true to present day values in that technological reproducibility has considerably reduced mankind s appreciation for aura to a point where even the mere thought of a here and now is rare ... • 9. Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna Abstract Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cm². The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site. The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/ volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cm³. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site, followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site, intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site. Introduction Acacia saligna is a small tree endemic to the Swan Coastal plain in the Mediterranean climate region of south west Australia and is widely naturalized in Mediterranean type ecosystems throughout the world (Tozer and ... The new city that Johnny moved into was New York. It is also known as The Big Apple. That city has a population of 8.6 million people. New York has many attractions. Examples of them are: Empire State Building, Statue Of Liberty and Time Square. Johnny always had a dream to go to New York and see these attractions, but he did not picture it like this. He did not imagine himself living with his family all bored. He imagined himself partying all night, having friends and having fun. This did not happen. Johnny had multiple problems when he came into New York. Moving in was not his only one. He also had to face the troubles of going to a new middle school. The new school that Johnny had transferred to was Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School. It was a very big school, but very old. The school was old because it was built in the year 1806. Johnny had a hard time fitting in because he was getting bullied by a kid in his class. His name is Jack Foster. Jack was not an average kid. He was much bigger and stronger than any regular kid. Jack is a 7 foot 3 humanoid . He weighs 197 pounds and is very tall. Jack is the most muscular kid in his class. • 11. Analyzing The Death Of Polonius In Shakespeare s Hamlet Throughout William Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the protagonist, Hamlet, seeks to kill Claudius out of revenge for his father s death. However the death of Polonius is often overlooked and is widely accepted as a mistake made by Hamlet. Polonius is the Lord Chamber under Claudius and helps Claudius manipulate his way to the throne. He is also a controlling father to Laertes and Ophelia. As Claudius becomes more concerned and suspicious about Hamlet, Polonius stays faithful to Claudius by deviously spying on Hamlet. The murder of Polonius is a direct result of his manipulative character. Furthermore, Sterling points out how it is illogical for hamlet to assume that Claudius is the one behind the curtain as right before Hamlet goes to talk to Gertrude he passes the kneeling Claudius and mistakenly believes that the king is praying (Sterling par. 2). This indicates that it would not make sense that Claudius would arrive in Gertrude s Room and hide before Hamlets arrival. In addition Polonius s disapproval of Hamlet for his daughter Ophelia, who Hamlet is in love with, would be another motive for Hamlet to commit this crime. Despite the numerous motives Hamlet has to kill Polonius his ultimate revenge, as instructed by the ghost, is to kill Claudius and thus, to sanction his murder of Polonius, the prince must pretend that he mistakes the courtier for Claudius (Sterling par. ... The company now needs to consider drastic measures that were previously out of the question, such as selling low cost carrier Jetstar or its highly profitable loyalty programme. Much of Qantas Airways Limited s future, however, is in the hands of the Australian Parliament, and whether or not it dismantles the 1992 Qantas Sales Act to allow majority foreign ownership. Planning also to exit underperforming routes, the airline as the end result of this cost reduction programme would be smaller but hopefully profitable. Given the severity of the situation, Qantas is lobbying for the Federal Government not only to repeal or at least alter theQantas Sales Act, but also to guarantee its debt. * Qantas is by some distance the leading airline in Australia, in relation to both domestic flights and international flights. Despite a gradual eroding of share in both the domestic and international markets, this is a situation that is unlikely to change over the forecast period. Qantas is so resolute in its attempt to maintain its dominance that it has announced a determination not to allow its domestic market share to fall below 65%. Euromonitor International s 49% value share for Qantas, down from 53% in 2012, is including both international and domestic flights. • 16. The Funeral Of Baroness Thatcher The amazing thing about the funeral of Baroness Thatcher was the size of the crowds, and the next amazing thing was that they were so relatively well behaved. The BBC had done its best to foment an uprising. With habitual good taste, they played Ding Dong the witch is dead on taxpayer public radio. Asked to find some commentators to give an instant reaction to the death of Britain s greatest post war prime minister an event that was not exactly unforeseen they reached instinctively for Gerry Adams and Ken Livingstone, two of her bitterest foes if you exclude the Tory wets, that is. As her cortege wound its way from St Brides to St Paul s there were a few people so stupid that they heckled the mortal remains of an 87 year old woman. A few turned their backs. Some wore twerpish Guy Fawkes masks or carried signs saying Boo . But the mass of humanity was on her side, and when the dissenters erupted they were swiftly drowned by cries of shhh or calculated volleys of applause. I know all this partly from media accounts and partly because I walked through the crowds and I saw how various her mourners were. There were some tweedy types and some suited thrusters, and people who would generally not look out of place at a Tory party conference. Children begin to pretend play, which is when a child acts out routines, such as eating or cleaning. Children begin to think, however thinking at this stage is still different to the way that adults think. Their thinking is not very systematic or logical (Wood, 2008 P.48). Piaget stressed that during the preoperational stage, children?s abilities are limited. One limitation is the inability to take the perspective of another individual, this is known as ?egocentrism? (Smith, Cowie, Blades 2011 P.390). A child may well presume that everyone has the same knowledge as they do without taking into consideration another person?s point of view. Throughout the concrete operational stage, which occurs between seven and twelve years of age, children begin to think logically. (Wood, 2008 P.47). Children at this stage are able to think logically about the world and gain the ability to manipulate their mental representations to think and solve problems. Children in this stage have an understanding of conservation. For example, if sand was poured from a tall thin container into a short wide container, they would understand that the quantity is the same as before. The last stage is the formal operational stage, which occurs during early adolescence. This is when cognitive development reaches its peak. According to Smith (2003), Piaget believed that individuals at this stage gain the ability to ?reason hypothetically? (Smith, Cowie, Blades, 2011 P.408). Each one of these ... It feeds on the phloem of trees, leaving them mutilated, their bark eviscerated and leaking sawdust. Victims of choice include lodgepoles, western white pines, and ponderosa, but any gymnosperm will do. For the mountain pine beetle, Dendroctonus ponderosae, the invasion means reproductive success. For the tree, it means slow death. Though the beetle chooses the victim, it is the fungus it carries, Grosmannia clavigera, that delivers the fatal blow (Safranyik and Carroll 2006). Working in tandem with the insect, the fungus spreads across the surface of the trunk, dismantling all defenses. So refined is this relationship that the beetles store the fungus in specialized containers. Tuesday morning the family woke up at 8:00 a.m. and ate a quick breakfast prior to beginning their short journey to the Disney World theme park. All of the children, including Joy were extremely excited to arrive at Disney World because it would be their first time. They left the campground at about 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Disney World at approximately 9:45 a.m. When the family arrived at the theme park, it took them nearly 20 minutes to locate a parking space and enter the park. During the entire drive to Disney World Joy thought it was all just a dream. But, upon arriving to the actual theme park of Disney World, Joy realized her dream was really a reality and she shed tears of excitement. Disney World is a magic kingdom full of people, buildings, song and dance, food like homemade fudge, horse drawn street cars and horseless carriages, statues and Disney characters. Joys family adventure began by entering through a tunnel just below a train station before they landed right in front of cinderella s castle. Since the experience was nothing like what joy had even been through before, she stood amazed as she viewed the castle she dreamed about living in, much like every other girl. Six paths lead from several different angle around the castle spreading throughout the theme park. One of the first attractions within Disney world that Joy and her family stopped at was the Swiss Family Treehouse. The Swiss Family Treehouse was based on a 1960 s movie, Swiss Family Robinson . The attraction is a large treehouse accessible for children and adults to climb and maneuver through, but it is also the makeshift home of a shipwrecked family as portrayed in the movie. As Joy entered the enormous treehouse she was lead to a narrow staircase that was the pathway to the dining room, kitchen, and two bedrooms. The treehouse left Joy and her siblings ... • 41. Contemporary Appretation Of Contemporary Interpretations... Contemporary Interpretations of Sacred Scripture: Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen. I would like to begin by extending a warm welcome to todays seminar that will dive into all things regarding religion and its place in a modern society. I will be solely focusing on a contemporary expression that shows similarities and differences to a sacred text of Christianity. So why is this of importance? The ever growing world we live in can often make it difficult for traditions to be maintained in community s due to their arguably outdated form and language. However, these values, messages and themes can be showcased and interpreted by viewers in modern expressions such as film, song and poetry. The animated 2008 film Wall E, directed by Andrew Stanton generally showcases the purpose of the story Adam and Eve. This is because of its ability to teach the concept of straying from Gods way of life and the negative impacts leading a greedy and consumerist lifestyle can have. The ways in which it showcases the ideas in both the parent and derivative text can be seen in the interpretations of the central message as well as the context and purpose of both pieces. The central message of Wall E and the story of Adam and Eve is very similar. The story of Adam and Eve reported in Genesis chapter two versus four until chapter three versus twenty four is commonly associated with the teaching of the original sin, fall and death as well as human s decision in following God s commands. The Effects Of Lowering Stress On College Students There isn t a better, more comforting feeling, than coming home after a long, hard day at work or school and being welcomed at the door with a wagging tail, wet kisses, and an excited to see you face from your dog. For many, having any sort of interaction with a pet or animal is the ultimate cure to stress that is caused by work, people, and life. While not every college student is able to have a loving pet in their lives, even a momentary encounter with any animal can lower stress and anxiety levels. Multiple studies have proven that animals are a powerful form of stress relief by not only lowering blood pressure, but also lowering a dangerous stress hormone, cortisol, which is correlated with depression and anxiety. Interactions with animals have also proven to raise oxytocin levels, which are linked to pleasure, relaxation and happiness. Lowering stress and anxiety in college students will help them academically and socially throughout their college lives. College students will experience lower stress levels, a lower level of cortisol, and live a happier stress free life by interacting with animals or pets throughout their time in college. With more and more college students becoming depressed and anxious, researchers have been working hard to try and improve college student lifestyles. She also discusses how important sex is to all creatures because without it, this world would be nothing. My view on sex and biology changed completely after reading this book. The different cultures throughout the world provide breeding grounds to many different kinds of ethical values and societies. In The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, the author Ursula Leguin, creates a society that may be perceived as corrupt and unfair, yet is not too different from our own. Omelas is neither a city of happiness nor a Utopia; it is a city of paradox, of false freedom and desperation. The people of Omelas live lives full of happiness and comfort, over a rotten foundation of an abused and abandoned child. Yet Leguin sympathizes with the ones who choose to stay in Omelas for she believes that they are helpless, stuck in the paradox of moral obligations and moral values. The Omeleans stay for they live in denial, creating a reality different from ours. To them, they either believe it is truly moral to uphold the community, with the sacrifice of one child, or they live in Omelas as an obligation, infinitely appreciative for the child sacrifice. The ones who leave however, do not want to feel obligation, to rely on this child for happiness. They want to be responsible for their own happiness. • 49. The Effects of a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction... Introduction In the realm of anxiety disorders, research on younger populations falls behind in comparison to studies on anxiety disorders in adults. (Mohr Schneider, 2013) Anxiety is one of the most common psychiatric disorders among school age children, and yet there is still so much more to be known about its development and treatment. (Kessler et al., 2005). Anxiety in school age children can be an issue that interferes with achievement in school. The constant interference can cause disruption in a child s ability retain and process information as well as focus in the classroom. (Semple, Lee, Rosa, Miller, 2010). Anxiety in children often manifests as a disruption in attention. In turn, the consequential lack of success in school can lead to more anxiety due to a student s negative self judgment (Gordon, 1977). This circle of cognitive interference in school and the following negative self judgment by the child is one that can lead to increasing levels of anxiety. There have been multiple forms of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that have shown some promise as treatments for childhood anxiety (Sullkowski, Joyce, Storch, 2011). However with an increasing prevalence of childhood psychiatric disorders, there is still somewhat of lack of research in to the use of psychological interventions to treat them (Semple, Reid, Miller, 2005). • 50. Id, Ego, And Superego In The Lady With The Pet Dog In Joyce Oates short story The Lady with the Pet Dog, the main character, Anna, represents the Id, Ego, and Superego characteristics defined by Sigmund Freud. Anna is facing her morals (Superego) and feelings (Id), being confined to a marriage and detesting her affair. Because Anna is forced to balance a failing marriage, and loving her husband, while also loving a man who s not her husband, and not loving him because she can t, builds stress inside her and leads to rash desires and actions. Anna displays Freud s Id characteristics throughout, the things she wants most are life and love. Anna is in the middle of a dysfunctional marriage and starts an affair with another man. Her Id psyche is prevalent when her husband says that he loves her, but she thinks about her lover saying ...if betraying him (her husband) it would give her life a center (Oates 239). Anna s unconscious immature Id psyche thinks that the only way for her to have a purpose in life is to be with her lover, only looking for pleasure and not thinking about the consequences (McLeod). The Id is overlooking the common logic, she is married and her lover is married too, which is morally wrong, overriding the Superego. Anna s Id can be compared to that of a child s, like a kid at the store who asks his mom for candy, and when she says no he decides to steal the candy.
