White House React To Women s March With Silence Analysis
The article of the week White House reacts to Women s March With Silence was basically about how
Donald Trump is ignoring all the protests right outside the White House. The article was week was
interesting, because of the way reacted to the protests. There were hundreds of thousand of people
protesting for Women s March all over the country. What I learned from the article is how hundreds of
thousands of people protested against Donald Trump. It surprises me that Trump barely reacted to the
protesters right outside the White House.
First of all, I think Donald Trump shouldn t have ignored the protests. He addressed the protests with a

Which means he obviously saw them. Then, Trump s Press Secretary Sean Spicer planned to make a
statement. All Spicer did was scold reporters, and he did not answer any protest question. I researched
inaugurations and I found that a inauguration is the transfer of power from the previous president to
president elect. Donald Trump s inauguration was on January 20th 2017. Supreme Court Chief Justice
John Roberts swore in Donald Trump. Since Trump is our new president, he should at least address the
protesters.
Besides, the first amendment law states congress shall make no law abridging freedom of speech. I
think it is really amazing so many came to protest outside the White House. I didn t think so many
people would be protesting. I really think all these protests are great, we are using the first
amendment. All these woman marching down to the White to protest against Trump, I am so glad they

Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to presume
Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his recount of the historical
battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play to the events leading to war, he
simultaneously gives us insight into the political and private life of a king. It is this unity of two
distinct areas that has turned the play into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and
periodically disfigured by opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe that
Henry is the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself disliked
Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for insight into
society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the situation to which the play
refers no longer exists, a connection can be made between spectator and stage. The Chorus facilitates
this connection. Shakespeare obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience visualize the
proceedings of history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience member on a journey
through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of Henry, in accordance with the
instructions given, for it would be falsification of history to pretend that [the play] could contain a
clear cut and unambiguous ideal (Iser 186). The Chorus provides a sense of individual responsibility
in creating an image; a product of the imagination and not a fact of history. The Chorus bridges the
gap between the past and the present. The spectator is encouraged to walk on an illusionary plain with
Henry and share in his experiences.
The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be little in terms of
stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new method of a raw and pure rendition
of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage and actors will do, how much the audience must do for
itself (Beauman 6).

Observation Of Observing A Teacher
I had the privilege of observing a teacher at my church pre k classroom on Wednesday the 6th of
December 2017. Ms. Janet is a teacher at Shiloh Elementary and she always have her lesson for her
classroom ready and presented in a well manner. I introduced myself to her and her classroom and was
greeted and given a sit by the corner of the classroom. She gets her students up for physical warm up,
they all went to stand on their assigned spot for their daily routine.
Ms. Janet play Ants in my Pants CD for her students, it was an action Cd, whereby they will follow as
the musical song in going on. She has a whistle blower in her mouth, she blows it whenever she wants
the student to start or stop what they are doing. The warm lasted for 30 minutes and they all went to
their table to sit.
Ms. Janet distributed a plain sheet of paper for all the student and put a bowl of pencils and crayons on
each table. Has she walked round each table, I had the awareness of the students changing their sit and
peering up with their group. The students respond to her very well and they get along with her. Listen
to her during activity time and work together with their group without any disturbance. Before the
activity begins, she showed the students what she is expecting from them at the end of the activity.
She was very calm and use different methods of teaching her students.
I noticed, she was moving around each table to ask them if they need any help for her, and ask one or

Comprehensive Sex Education And Comprehensive Sex Education
Around the country views on sex education differ strongly, typically more religiously affiliated
states promote abstinence while liberal states are in favor of comprehensive sex education.
While both abstinence only sex education and comprehensive sex education aim to shield teens
from the possible dangers of sex, they strongly disagree on what information should be taught
and the outcome said information will have on teens.
Many parents have a strong opinion on how much information their children should be taught,
ranging from nothing at all to everything from human anatomy, STD s, gender studies, and sex
education for queer teens. According to an article titled Comprehensive Sex Education is
Inappropriate and Harmful some parents believe that their authority is being undermined by
comprehensive programs. Comprehensive programs to encourage the use of contraceptives,
even acknowledging the fact that they can be accessed without parental consent. This has been
heavily debated, some parents believe it is encouraging promiscuity and deceitful behavior
while others believe it is promoting their kids to make safe choices if they are too embarrassed

The Origins, History, Value, and Future of Cartography
THE ORIGINS, HISTORY, VALUE AND FUTURE OF CARTOGRAPHY
Introduction
Cartography has existed for thousands of years. From the early days of tribes marking off where their
best hunting grounds are, to the modern day of mapping flight paths, cartography has evolved and
developed in various ways to what it is today. There are now technologies that allow for people to
design maps in ways never imagined before. Computer programmes exist that allow for different types
of data to be stored so that accurate representations can be formed. It has been said that, Maps are
pictures of the world s land surface, showing its features, resources and the way it has been developed.
(Bondi, et al., 1977)
Origins and History
The beginnings of Cartography
It has been said that Cartography originated thousands of years ago. Wall paintings believed to
represent a maps of the heavens exist all around the world. The oldest maps that have been preserved
on Babylonian clay tablets are from around 2300 B.C. Cartography as a whole was dominant in
Greece as the subject was more advanced than other locations and so the spherical Earth was well
known amongst Greek philosophers. (Aber, 2008). The reference line principle was created by one of
Aristotle s disciples. Dichaearchus was this disciple s name and he obtained this theory by placing an
orientation line that ran from east to west. (Fuechsel, 2013)
The Roman Era is the next part of history where Cartography was involved in. Maps in this time

The Battle Of New Orleans Figurative Language
Analysis of The Battle of New Orleans Andrew Jackson led his brave U.S. infantry towards the most
powerful army with uncertainty of who would make it back. The Battle of New Orleans is about a
battle that ended the War of 1812, and Johnny Horton depicts this through using figurative language.
The song written by Horton explains how The Battle of New Orleans was started and how it ended. It
starts off informing listeners that Colonel Jackson was taking his infantry south, following the
Mississippi River. The song then continues to describe how the Americans began firing at the British
in a surprise attack. Jackson s calvary sent the British retreating to the Gulf of Mexico with an
impressive victory. In total only 8 Americans were killed

The Compromise of 1850 Essay
The compromise of 1850 was a settlement on a series of issues plaguing the unity of the states. The
primary issue to address was the institution of slavery, which was causing much dissension between
the north and the south. Additional items to be addressed were territory issues and to prevent secession
by the south. Henry Clay stepped forward to present a compromise, which had Congress in an eight
month discussion known as the Great Debate . As a result of the proposal, there were strong
oppositions. One outspoken person who opposed the proposal was John C Calhoun. Calhoun was an
intellectual southern politician, political philosopher and a proponent to the protection of Southern
interests. He was an advocate for states rights and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Webster believed the issue of slavery was settled long ago, when the regions were divided into slave
and free states, and he also believed an agreement could be reached between the pro slavery positions
in the south and anti slavery position in the north. Comparatively, Calhoun and Webster both saw the
union was in danger of falling apart, they also both believed the issues of slavery between the north
and the south was the major cause. Where they disagreed was on the future state of slavery. Calhoun
saw the compromise as a betrayal of the south; he sought to have the northerners agree to the
protection of slavery in the south so the south would remain in the union. Calhoun knew slavery pre
existed and believed it must continue to exist. Webster was more of a pacifist, he pleaded with the
northerners to accept demands of the south in order to save the union, even though he did not accept
the fact slavery needed to continue. Webster deeply believed that preservation of the union was more
important than any other issue. In addition, William Henry Seward also opposed the proposed
compromise. Seward was a New York politician and secretary of state and was one of the major
political figures of the mid nineteenth century; he became one of the most outspoken anti slavery
politicians of the period. Seward condemned Clay s resolutions on the

Mosaics in Early Byzantine Era
The increase in mosaics in churches in Late Antiquity and the Byzantine Era was largely due to the
influence of the Roman Emperor Constantine (ruled from 306 to 337 AD). During his rule as emperor,
Christianity became the major religion and there was a push for more buildings to house the followers
of Christ. Along with the new buildings there was a need to decorate these places of worship
accordingly and express the religion in a grandiose sort of way. Mosaics were generally the
inexpensive and impressive answer that was used to convey the church s message. Through mosaics,
the people of the church could learn and be informed of the spiritual and cultural symbolism (Kleiner
and Mamiya 313).
Early mosaics before this time period had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On the lower north wall to the left and below the apse mosaic, Justinian, Bishop Maximianus, and
others are shown in a mosaic rich in color. There are three groupings in this mosaic, the emperor and
his staff, the clergy, and the imperial guard. Justinian is in the center garbed in his purple robe and
depicted with a halo representing the god given powers of the emperor. To his left are Bishop
Maximianus and two clergymen. The bishop was given a level of importance by the inscription of his
name above his head. The emperor appears slightly behind the bishop when looking at their feet but
his shoulder is depicted in front of the bishop s. To Justinian s right is the imperial guard holding a
shield with the monogram of Christ. The artist depicts importance by showing the feet of the leader of
each group overlapping the others while depicting the powers of the church and the emperor on an
equal level (Kleiner and Mamiya 332 336).

Marriage Proposals In Pride And Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen in the Regency Period of England. The book
represents to the reader how females, marriage and social class were viewed at the time, as well as
demonstrates Austen s opinion on these matters in a somewhat satirical sense. The two marriage
proposals in the book towards the lead female character, Elizabeth Bennet, are put forth by Mr Collins
and Mr Darcy, both of whom exaggerate the social norms of the time; as women were not expected to
marry for love, but for financial gain, the terms for both proposals are focused more on the gains of
both the man and the woman rather than true feelings towards the affair. The ridiculed etiquette shows
how Austen held the rules of the time in low regard.
Both proposals comprise of snide comments on Elizabeth s social class and financial situation; Collins
remarks that Elizabeth will inherit only one thousand pounds in the four per cents, which will not be

This, as well as the fact that he inquired after her health is a contrast to the cold, manipulative
character of Mr Collins, who attempts to threaten Elizabeth into marrying him. Likewise, Darcy does
not react well to the rejection to his proposal, as his complexion became pale with anger , and
continues to insult Elizabeth, saying that she is not civil . Therefore, even though the beginning of the
two proposals differed dramatically, the denial of the proposal causes each male to react as if it was
Elizabeth s fault that they were rejected. This ties in to Austen s views of how men at the time were
taught that they could marry any girl if their offer was good enough; this, obviously, is not the case, as
Elizabeth cares more about her feelings than the technicalities of the marriage, and ridicules the
attitudes of men towards

Twisted Truth Of Fear
The Twisted Truth of Fear
In Once Upon a Time, by Nadine Gordimer, the author tells a dark story in a fairy tale format. This
piece reveals a very dark truth, revealed through the theme, which is being controlled by fear. It is
eloquently portrayed through her simple, yet descriptive wording. Allowing irrational fear to take over
one s life leads to self destruction, which is the dark truth Gordimer wants the reader to understand.
The moral of this story proves to be ironic. Throughout the story, the wealthy white family does
everything in their power to avoid contact with the outside world, filled with riots and danger. They ve
insured everything they possibly can, and are a part of the Neighborhood Watch group, Yet she was

As magnificent as the characters home may be, the surrounding walls and wires to protect them
describes the isolation that is brought upon the family. When they go further into trying to protect
themselves, with the stretched razor bladed cols all round the walls of the house, the imagery not only
gives the reader a feeling of uneasiness but foreshadows the truth of the story. No one can isolate and
protect themselves from the world without winding up in the situation that was trying to be avoided in
the first place; in this case it is the boy pretend playing. The mother, who is consistently the most
worrisome of the family, inspires the boy to play as if he were a prince, rescuing the princess, and
ultimately leads him to their doom. He dragged a ladder to the wall, the shining coiled tunnel was just
wide enough for his little body to creep in, elucidates the truth Gordimer wants the reader to know.

where the truth Gordimer wants to reveal is illustrated in great detail instead of simply being worded

Tuck Everlasting Essay
Tuck Everlasting is a great book!
According to The Hornbook, Tuck Everlasting is Flawless in both style and structure. Although some
people may think that the book is very cut to the point, especially with the fact that there are few
characters, it has a great amount of detail, it s very organized, and the structure of the book itself is
amazing. This book is definitely worth reading, and one reason is that there is a limited amount of
characters. Some books, like the Lord of the Rings series, have too many characters, and that makes
the book hard to follow, which makes the book uninteresting. There are only about nine characters in
this book, including the minor ones, and they are built up just enough so that they can be thought of ...

They are all providing a terrific image of the scenes, and there are so many words describing the trees,
flowers, and lots of other things in the forest. There are also several forms of figurative language like
similes, metaphors, and lots of personification. On page 3, the text states, The first week of August
hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel
when it pauses in its turning. On page 5 it states, It wandered along in curves and easy angles, swayed
off and up in a pleasant tangent to the top of a small hill, ambled down again between fringes of bee
hung clover, and then cut sidewise across a meadow. Both of these passages provide, in great detail, a
mental picture of what the book looks like. The final reason that people should read this book is
because of the way the author writes the novel. Ms. Babbit, the author, makes you feel like the
characters are right next to you. She makes them feel like they are right when they are wrong. For
example, when Mae Tuck kills the man in the Yellow Suit, you feel she is in the right like she s done
absolutely nothing wrong. And the same thing happens when the Tucks kidnap Winnie Foster, it just
seems meant to be. The style of Tuck Everlasting is amazing, the descriptiveness is beautiful, and the
simplicity is.... simple! More people should definitely read Tuck

Used To Know Interpretation
Taking a deeper look at Gotye s song, Somebody That I Used to Know, it can be assumed that Gotye s
need for dominance and obsession with the past is what causes his dysfunctional behavior. The two
protagonists, Gotye and Kimbra, went through a difficult split due to Gotye s destructive character.
Gotye wrote the paradox of Kimbra being right for him, but felt so lonely and unfulfilled in her
company. Ever since his last break up, he has felt very isolated, so for him to cease that feeling, he had
to find someone new. He may have liked Kimbra at first, but after a while he was just with her to show
his friends he wasn t alone. Gotye didn t want other people to see how he really is, because loneliness
equates to being weak, in his perspective. Along with that, Kimbra said that Gotye always had her

If his friends knew, or he admitted to himself that they both messed up, he would lose his masculinity
which makes him feel powerful. In addition, there is also the issue of not focusing on the present.
Kimbra thought that Gotye could let go of his ex, somebody that he used to know, but instead she
caught him in the act. He is stuck in the past and struggles with getting over it; hence he cheated on
Kimbra with his past lover. On the same note, Gotye calls Kimbra somebody that he used to know at
the end of the song, just like how Kimbra referred to his ex as. Now that Gotye and Kimbra treat each
other like strangers, Gotye s obsession with the past is going to keep being trouble for him. He shows
a confusing attitude towards Kimbra, the question of him being hurt or okay with the break up comes
to mind. He says that he doesn t need her because he wants to display male dominance. However, he
secretly is upset, based on him saying that Kimbra treating him like she never knew him felt harsh,
which reflects on how he s hung up on Kimbra, who is his past

Color-Blind Racism In America

Hair is a basic element of most of our lives, so to many, hair is a trivial thing. However, the fact that
we live in a social climate that routinely rejects aspects of communities of color, hair has come to be
an increasingly symbolic piece of our racial identities. This is especially true for the black community
in the United States. After generations of countering Eurocentric ideologies surrounding acceptability,
members of the black community are beginning to embrace the acceptance of their own images
despite cultural messages that continue to promote the opposite. In an article written by Khalea

Catullus And Lesbia Relationship
Option 2: Catullus and Lesbia s Relationship
Introduction
Lesbia is the subject of Catullus s most passionate and seemingly sincere poems. The relationship
between Catullus and Lesbia is tumultuous to say the least. His poems about Lesbia and their
relationship display a wide range of emotions which change from a relationship of tenderness and
love, to one of uncertainty, to one of sorrow and disappointment. They rapidly fall in and out of love
with another. Their affections for one another are fickle and constantly changing. They have a
mercurial kind of love. Catullus obviously loved Lesbia deeply, but he also feels intense dislike,
disappointment and contempt towards her. Through it all, it seems as though Catullus longs for
Lesbia, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The playful passion of the previous poems about Lesbia has been overturned by the announcement
that the relationship is as dead as the sparrow. Neither Lesbia nor Catullus seem to desire one another
anymore. Catullus describes the good times they shared together but asserts that he will no longer
chase or pine after Lesbia anymore. Catullus seems spiteful towards the end of the poem when he
asserts that no other man will love Lesbia like he did. Catullus believes that his relationship with
Lesbia was special and that her relationships with other men will never match what they had together.
The phrasing in this poem is deliberately simple as if Catullus has taken or the persona of a fool or
Lesbia s plaything, just like her pet sparrow. This is unusual because one again we are seeing Catullus
in a submissive role and Lesbia in the dominant role in the relationship. This gender role reversal is
unusual during the period of history they lived in, it is generally the man in the dominant role and the
woman in the submissive

The Diversity Management Core Competencies Essay
The two core competencies that have decide to write about are individual differences and leadership.
These are two competencies that are extremely important on a daily basis, especially in the workplace.
Individual differences are the variations from different individuals, such as culture, personality,
perception, demographic factors, skills, and attitudes. It is important for individual differences to be
recognized and taken into consideration when it comes to managing any organization. Leadership is
just as critical because it is the influence within an organization that has a meaningful impact.
Leadership maximizes individuals efforts so key goals can be achieved. It is important to note that just
because you manage an organization, that does not mean that you are leading the organization. In a
way, leadership is also the ability to turn a vision into a reality. I chose these two diversity

Reflective Essay On Occupational Therapy
Growing up, I was close to a family that had a daughter with Rett Syndrome. I grew up watching how
different therapies, particularly hippotherapy, immensely helped her. Through the impact this girl had
on me, I have aspired to work with children who have disabilities. I have observed multiple types of
therapies and have decided that Occupational Therapy is the route that will best help me reach these
aspirations. It is my goal to help make a difference in people s lives, and in their families lives,
following graduation from an Occupational Therapy school. As an Occupational Therapist, you get to
help such a wide variety of people. One person you treat may need sensory therapy, and the next
person you treat may have a neuromuscular problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One semester I took a class that was about teaching children with exceptionalities. In this class, I
learned about all different types of disabilities, what it s like to have these disabilities, how to help
students cope with their disabilities, and how schools are supposed to accommodate the student. The
class was such an eye opener on how students with disabilities live and how challenging school can be
for them. In taking the prerequisite courses, I discovered a love for studying how the body works, not
only physically, but emotionally and mentally. In this upcoming semester, Spring of 2017, I am
registered to take an American Sign Language class. Learning sign language will undoubtedly be
beneficial to know when working with people who have disabilities. It will provide me with skills to
work with clients with communication issues. For instance, if I have a client who is nonverbal, I can
teach them a way to communicate with others. I am a part of a club on campus that is heavily involved
with a school in our community that serves students of all ages with developmental disabilities and
with our area s Special Olympics. I ve helped our area s regional and state Special Olympics in the
past several years.
Becoming an Occupational Therapist is a goal that I have been working hard to achieve my whole life

The Atlantic Slave Trade
Everyone has their own understanding of what slavery is, but there are misconceptions about the
history of slavery . Not many people understand how the slave trade initially began. Originally Africa
had slaves but they were servants or serfs, sometimes these people could be part of the master s
family. They could own land, rise to positions of power, and even purchase their freedom. This
changed when white captains came to Africa and offered weapons, rum, and manufactured goods for
people. African kings and merchants gave away the criminals, debtors, and prisoner from rival tribes.
The demand for cheap labor was increasing, this resulted in the forced migration of over ten million
slaves. The Atlantic Slave Trade occurred from 1500 to 1880 CE. This large scale event changed the
economy and histories of many places. The Atlantic Slave Trade held a great amount of significance in
the development of America. Africans shaped America by building a solid foundation for the country.
The act of slavery was already happening in Africa prior to The Atlantic Slave Trade. The slave trade
provided no restrictions, this caused chaos in both Africa and America. Africans captured slaves and as
the demand grew getting slaves became a motivation for war. This lead to internal conflict in Africa
that can still be seen today. An article in The Abolition Project did a good job summing up this
statement, Forms of slavery existed in Africa before Europeans arrived. Some

Propolis Lab Report
Purpose; The antioxidant properties of Capparis spinosa honey and propolis and the effect of
combined honey and propolis administration on urine volume and electrolytes were studied in rats.
Material and methods; Capparis spinosa honey (1g/kg.b.wt), propolis (100 mg/kg.b.wt),
honey/propolis mixture (100 mg/1g/kg.b.wt), distilled water (1 ml/kg.b.wt) and furosemide (10
mg/kg.b.wt) were orally administered to five groups of rats for 21 days. Urine volume, blood and
urine sodium, potassium and chloride were measured. The antioxidant activity of propolis and the
honey was assessed and their total phenols and flavonoids were determined.
Results; Propolis and Capparis spinosa honey contain polyphenols including flavonoids and propolis
demonstrated higher antioxidant activities than honey. Honey significantly increased urine volume and
urine electrolyte excretion. Propolis has no significant effect on urine volume but co administration of
propolis and honey caused significant diuresis. No major changes were observed in plasma
electrolytes with use of honey, propolis or their combination.
Conclusion; Honey and propolis have antioxidant activity and contain polyphenols including
flavonoids that were more pronounced in propolis. Honey has a significant diuretic activity alone or in
combination with propolis. This is the first study comparing the diuretic effect of co administration of
propolis and Capparis spinosa honey with furosemide.

Introduction I m interested on this topic because, I think that the four stroke combustion cycle in
Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) revolutionized the way the Man think and Moves. Internal
Combustion Engines are also significantly more efficient than the well known steam engine. Today it
has better power than electric batteries and motors, and offers similar overall efficiency. Small,
lightweight ICE made personal transportation possible. It transformed how we built cities and did
business. Engines are so important for the advancement on any society, nowadays without engines it
will be much harder for man to do what it look simple and ordinary in today s world. More than
importance of this topic on my career or profession, is the importance on the topic in our daily live,

Jd Salinger Essay

The Catcher in the Rye is narrated by Holden Caulfield, a 16 year old boy who has just flunked out of
his third private boarding school. Unwilling to remain at school until the end of the term, Holden runs
away to New York City. He does not contact his parents, who live there, but instead drifts around the
city for two days. The bulk of the novel is an account, at once hilariously funny and tragically moving,
of Holden s adventures in Manhattan. These include disillusioning encounters with two nuns, a suave
ex schoolmate, a prostitute named Sunny, and a sympathetic former teacher who may be homosexual.
Finally, drawn by his affection for his ten year old sister, Phoebe, Holden abandons his spree and
returns home.
Salinger s depiction of Holden Caulfield is considered one of the most convincing portrayals of an
adolescent in literature. Intelligent, sensitive, and imaginative, Holden desires acceptance into the
adult world even though he is sickened and obsessed by what he regards as its quot;phonies, quot;

Francisco De Goya Black Paintings
Francisco de Goya s Pinturas negras, or Black Paintings, are some of the most grotesque and
unsettling images in art history, with one painting in particular, Saturno devorando a su hijo, or Saturn
Devouring One of His Sons, standing out the most amongst them all. With his wildly staring eyes,
gaping mouth and half eaten son in his hands, it makes one wonder what would drive an artist to
create an image like this. Goya, however, was not uneducated in the horrors of the world, witnessing
the travesties of the Peninsular War, the atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, surviving two life
threatening illnesses, with one leaving him completely deaf, and the death of six of his seven children.
Perhaps it was one of these instances in particular that encouraged him to conceiving this
disconcerting figure, or perhaps it was a combination of the three.
At the beginning of Goya s career, in 1777, he was commissioned to create a series of tapestry
cartoons from the Royal Tapestry Factory, designing some 42 patterns over five years. Some of his
more popular paintings were originally tapestry cartoons such as The Parasol. His use of the popular
Rococo style, brought him to the attention of the aristocracy of Spain. In 1789, he was appointed to
court painter to Charles IV and then the following year, he became First Court Painter. His portraits of
the king, queen and royal family, were anything but flattering. While he was given this great position
of influence and prestige, he

Example Of Six Hats Strategy
Concept of Six hats strategy
The concept is typically used in business settings; however, applying the same concept in counseling
supervision can help facilitate and balance diverse viewpoints and polarities. (Li, 2008). Six thinking
hats strategy helps in creative thinking in which one can unbundle thinking; in a way that one can pay
full attention to each aspect in turn. Through using this strategy, one can separate the modes of
thinking and then apply each mode to the same subject in order to end up with full color thinking on
the subject. There is a suggestion that the chemical setting in the brain (neurotransmitter, etc) may be
different when one is being positive from when one is being negative, and from one is being creative.
If this proves to be so, then there is an absolute need to separate out the different components of
thinking in order to do each properly. It would be impossible to have one brain setting that was ideal
for all sorts of thinking. (De Bono, 1998).
The six thinking hats model of conducting supervision appears to offer ... Show more content on

Counselor interns are also required to recognize and balance their internal differing points of view in

2008) can be applied to group supervision of counselor interns and can aid in gaining awareness and
making decision. The technique is a metaphorical way to view a problem or a counseling situation

The Electronic Communication Privacy Act, 1986
The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986
The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986 was initially n amendment of the Omnibus Crime
Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (Title III) which was also referred to as Wiretap Statute. This was
an act that was intended to stop government illegal access to the private electronic communications.
With the emergence of other means of electronic communication like the internet, there was a growing
tendency of the government agencies to sneak into the information channels of citizens without their
permission. This was due to the fact that the 1968 Act did not cover the electronic mails that were en
route to their final destination. The courts till 2005 declared that this type of communication was not
covered by the 1986 Act. It was until then that the US Court of Appeal reversed the ruling that has
been barring the e mails from being covered under the privacy provision. The above scenario that the
ECPA had to be amended with the argument that all electronic communication has to be temporarily
stored at some given point in time and the argument that there was no any illegality in any interception
before the communication reaches the destination was null and void. The Electronic Communications
Privacy Act (ECPA) therefore gives the clear guidelines to the access, use, interception, disclosure as
well as privacy protection of the electronic communication. This Act covers electronic communication

Twain s Huckleberry Finn and Kerouac s On the Road The River and the Road
One element that separates a good novel from a great novel is its enduring effects on society. A great
novel transcends time; it changes and mirrors the consciousness of a civilization. One such novel is
Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. For the past one hundred and fifteen years, it has
remained in print and has been one of the most widely studied texts in high schools and colleges.
According to Lionel Trilling, its success is due to Twain s voice of unpretentious truth (92) embodied
in the young narrator Huck Finn who reveals the hypocrisy and moral deprivation of society through
his innocent observations. It is a picaresque novel, or novel of ... Show more content on

Mark Twain s influence upon Kerouac is evident in On the Road as is suggested in biographical
details. Warren French states in his biography of Kerouac that Kerouac s first attempt to write a novel
at age 11 was an apparently quite slavish imitation of [Twain s] Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (4),
and Gerald Nicosia notes that Twain was one of the writers that Kerouac followed in his use of
idiomatic American diction (344). In addition, Kerouac himself warns his editor Helen Taylor in a
letter, no more irresponsible copy editing of my Mark Twain Huckleberry prose (131). He imitated the
naïve prose of Twain that only observes life and does not judge it, thereby creating an honest
reflection of life that ultimately affects the moral sensibilities of its audience.
One human aspect of life that is mirrored in the two narratives is the familial relationship between
each novel s two main characters. Huck would be as incomplete without Jim, as Sal would be without
Dean. Every place that Huck lives with Jim is his home. When they return to the island after finding a
corpse housebound and drifting, Huck explains, We got home all safe (Twain 72), and after the fog
separates them, he conveys, We said there warn t no home like a raft, after all (124). Their
relationship, symbolized in their emphasis of home, reveals the need for strong familial ties that
enable them to overcome the harsh social realities they encounter.

Pets are considered property, by law; they not to be considered or treated like children under child

In particular, emotion and attachment still matters when deciding property division. Justice Gunn in

As this is not a final case, but an interim, the court challenges if it was necessary to spend resources

between two different models, the liberal and the radical one.
The liberal model, described by Jewson and Mason, is emphasized on a philosophy of sameness ,
where people should have access to and be assessed within the workplace as individuals, regardless of
social category.
In the other hand, the radical approach is focused on a positive discrimination where employment
practices are deliberately manipulated in order to obtain a fair distribution of those disadvantaged

The Plays of Tennessee Williams
Tennessee Williams was known as one of the greatest and most controversial playwrights in American
history. He once said I believe that writing or any form of creative work was never meant by nature to
be a man s way of making a living, that when it becomes one it almost certainly loses a measure of
purity (Lewis 54). This statement shows that Williams was a genuine writer who used his plays and
poems to express his own thoughts. Williams was known for his Southern Gothic writing style. This is
a style of writing practiced by many writers of the American South whose stories set in that region are
characterized by grotesque, macabre, or fantastic incidents ( Southern gothic ). Some critics believe
that Williams had sacrificed his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is shown throughout the play that lying is something people do daily in order to conform to society s
wants. Big Daddy has made his life, rose up from beneath and became a rich and social man. His son,
Brick, knows what his family expects of him and refuses to let them down by even contemplating the
fact that he may be homosexual. He has not been true to himself or the world in the aspect of love. He
knows that neither the world nor his family would accept him if it turned out that he was homosexual,
so he buries that thought deep inside him. The denial of his friend Skippers love for him tore Brick
down little by little on the inside until he began to hate the world, and felt disgusted for being a part of
it. This play is just one more reason that Williams was known as a controversial playwright. At this
point in time, in 1955, homosexuality was not discussed publicly. When Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was
being made into a movie all hints of homosexuality were taken out of the script because it was
considered to be a form of perversion. Williams himself had a long term partner in Frank Merlo,
meaning that he himself was homosexual during the time when it was not fully accepted. Merlo acted
as Williams manager, which in a way shows how Skipper was Bricks best friend but was actually in
love with him. Some critics say that because Williams used a lot of the same themes in his works that
he became predictable. Even Williams would admit to writing about the same themes,

Meditation and the Brain Essay
Meditation and the Brain
When discussing the relationship of brain and behavior, the materialist view of human experience runs
into conflict with the historically dominant religious accounts. Recent studies, however, suggests that
there may be a middle view between the two world views. Religions, especially Buddhism, stress the
role of meditation in one s spiritual growth. Meditation has tangible psychological and physiological
benefits, though, which can be explained strictly in neurobiological terms. Understanding of how
meditation affects the brain, and, by extension, human behavior, also gives insight into consciousness,
the role of feedback loops, and the nature of the I function.

in processes. Meditation, then, has the therapeutic effect of disengaging the practitioner from self
consciousness, freeing the mind. The view of the world without the construct of a permanent essence
enables one to experience reality as it really is (3). It is important to note that Buddhism does not
distinguish mental processes from other senses. Just as seeing takes a visual object, the mind takes a
mental object (1). Just as the eye is free to take in different visual objects, the mind is free, as well.
While meditation aims to develop single pointedness of mind, it is ultimately to free it from external
objects. The focus is on the process of breathing, in Zen, and, eventually, one can reach a state where
one is not considering anything (2). Zen considers the blank mind stage to be a higher form of
consciousness because it is free from attachments.
Indeed, one of the goals of meditation is the mindful state, which is awareness of objects, mind states,
and physical states but not attachment to them. Buddhism puts a great emphasis on empirical
understanding of the world (3), through meditation and through observation, and the mindful state is
one which recognizes distractions and attachments, and acknowledges them, in order to achieve
awareness of one s true nature. While a person in meditation does not dwell on possible objects of

Social, Crime And Punishment In The Elizabethan Era
Although there were many issues and problems that occurred during her reign, Queen Elizabeth I
successfully addressed and responded to many of the social, political, and educational issues of her
time. The Queen reacted to many different situations in a strict manner in order to strengthen and
rebuild England. Elizabeth worked to spread literature, prevent crime, and expand the art of the
theater. As she strove to solve issues, Queen Elizabeth led England to a long period of growth and
prosperity. During her reign, Queen Elizabeth I worked to spread education and literature throughout
England. In Elizabethan England, Laura Marvel describes the advances in literature and how they
affected the lives of english citizens. Before her rule, literature was uncommon because texts were
usually written in Latin and were only affordable to members ... Show more content on

The authors of Crime and Punishment in the Elizabethan Era conclude that due to Elizabeth s strict
convictions, England became a safer society. Even for committing minor crimes, people would be
arrested and punished quickly (1). Before Elizabeth s reign, punishments for committing crimes were
uncommon, resulting in an unorganized society. Having a careless, free society leads to outbursts and
revolts which could eventually lead to bigger disputes, like a civil war. Elizabeth worked to prevent
this by enforcing acts of public humiliation and larger punishments. These tough punishments lead
people to not want to break the law or commit any crimes whatsoever. Although Elizabeth was strict
and penalized citizens for small crimes, her actions led to maintaining peace and balance throughout
England. The orderly society that she built could ve been disastrous if it weren t for the austere
precautions she took to enhance England. The actions Queen Elizabeth I took towards crime and
punishment helped transform England into a more stable

The Pros And Cons Of Volunteerism
5. Conclusion
With this thesis I wanted to create a broader view on the systems behind all the critiques on
volunteerism projects in order to contribute to projects that are both beneficial for volunteers as well
as for host communities. The theoretical aim of this thesis was to contribute to the scientific debate on
how volunteerism projects impact volunteers and host communities, through showing how this impact
is influenced by processes of liminality and Othering. On top of that, I wanted to question the notion
of giving aid as the starting point of volunteerism projects. The story represented two groups;
volunteers and host communities, who joined volunteerism projects with good intentions. Some,
however, unaware of the unintended consequences and how their expectations would work out.
5.1 The unintended consequences of the desire to help
It all started with one group of volunteers who had a specific interest in improving the waste
management in Bandung and another group of volunteers that wanted to teach English to children in
the same region. They both found volunteering project from AIESEC that focussed on these interests
and made their way to Indonesia. But, despite the focus of these projects on waste management and
teaching English on paper, the projects turn out to be focussed on something as well in reality; the ...

Both volunteers as well as host communities have to become aware of the Self in relation to the Other
and let go of the connotations they have attached to each other, in order to create space for cultural
understanding through entering a liminal world between cultures (Rabinow 1977). This creation of
cultural understanding is, next to one of the aims of most volunteerism project, necessary for the
creation of a volunteerism project that benefits host communities and volunteers at the same

Sarbanes-Oxley Act Case Study
The Sarbanes Oxley Act also helped managers see that their companies had many weaknesses, such as
lack of enforcement of existing policies, unnecessary complexity, clogged communications, and a
feeble compliance culture (2006), per the Harvard Business Review. Managers and executives could
recognize their company s weaknesses because SOX requires publicly traded companies to be
standardized. Section 302 explains the corporate responsibility behind the financial reports, such as
how the CEO and CFO must be involved in the auditing process and how they must report any fraud
that they see in the reports. This section forced managers to overlook their internal audits and
therefore helped them to see what needed to be done to improve the financial ... Show more content on

benefit from it as well. Executives and management follow SOX s practices and benefit from the
positive outcomes. Private and nonprofit companies have also improved their documentation system,
improved policies and procedures, and updated or added whistleblower policies. Many private and
nonprofit companies are implementing SOX requirements to improve their companies overall
operations. The Sarbanes Oxley Act therefore has been beneficial not only to publicly traded
companies, but also to private and nonprofit companies, improving the accounting system in

And we kept going on (July August 1097), pursuing the most iniquitous Turks who fled each day
before us... This quote from Usamah, an Arab from the Twelfth Century, shows the strenuous effort
the Arabs put towards fighting in the Crusades. The Crusades lasted for about 200 years, between the
Europeans and Muslims. Due to the immense benefits received, the Crusades results did justify the
means. The Europeans learned much from the Arabs; they brought back innovative ideas about
different topics. They also fought against the potential tyranny, which all must do. Although many
died, many of the results were positive, outweighing the negative aspects. The Crusades stretched

The Seljuk Turks had been attacking the Byzantines for many YEARS. The Western church, when
called on by their Eastern Christian brothers, sent their men to aid in defense from the invasions of the
Turks. The Crusaders additional motive of regaining the Holy Land was not the first goal in their
minds; they originally wanted to aid their allies in the East. The Europeans had to fight the potential
tyranny, just as the Americans did against the tyrant, Hitler. The Americans fought for their belief, and
although some fought for religious purposes, most did not; they fought to help the Jews and prevent
the Nazi s from taking over the world. Likewise, the Crusaders fought for their beliefs, and although
some killed the Turks because of their religion, most did not; they fought to stop the invasions into the
Byzantine Church s land. The Eastern Church may have eventually been oppressed by the Turks if
they had not fought back and asked for allies, much like the Irish against the British. This is an often
overlooked reason, for why the Crusades were necessary; they did not fight merely because they
wished to have the Holy Land, they fought for their Christian allies in the

Analysis Of Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Fast forward three years and it is easy to see what dramatic change came about in The Beatles style. In
1968 The Beatles released their White Album. This album took them into a transcendental era of the
psychedelic movement, where drug fueled experimentation with heavy beats and intense topics
became the focus of their music. Happiness Is A Warm Gun is a musical masterpiece that combined
The Beatles new found music style, edgy, risky lyrics, and an underlying undertone that many viewed
as inappropriate for the public audience.
The song opens musically with only a guitar playing a riff behind the vocals. The song sounds to be in
C major, but the opening sounds to be in a minor key. This song seems like it is three different songs
woven together through intense beats and time signature changes. The beginning is 4/4 but changes to
3/4 and 2/4 throughout the songs entirety. If I separated the song into three parts, different tempos and
instruments can be heard. In the beginning, only a guitar plays, followed by drums and short chord
strikes to create a chopping noise. The second part, characterized by the tempo change and an intense
guitar solo, adds a new percussion sound through the slashing of cymbals and deliberate pedal stomps.
The third part shows another signature change back to 4/4 and a milder use of the cymbal, while still
maintaining the chord chops. The riff from the introduction is maintained throughout the whole song.
A syncopated melody can be heard

Discrimination In American Society
Society is an aspect of this world that will forever be evolving and adapting to how people act.
Throughout time, there have been good things and bad things that have occurred. In the blink of an
eye, tragedy can strike or luck can come. I believe that society has currently been heading towards the
negative end of the spectrum. Government, war, and law enforcement are all parts of society that have
had their ups and downs. All of them can be compared and contrasted to accurately display the
direction that society is heading.
For instance, government is a highly controversial topic in American society. It has done things in
favor of the people, but it has also gone against the people. To begin with the U.S. government does a
great job with protecting the freedoms of the people (mostly). It has provided education for most of
the public and done a fair job in keeping the peace. However, there are more things that the
government does secretly and publicly that are detrimental to society. In Indiana, a specific law has
recently come to the surface. This law is called the RFRA. If not overturned, this law will allow
businesses to discriminate against the gay community at all. After moving forward past ... Show more

Most wars begin because of religion and continue until both sides have suffered many losses. Also,
they usually end without much of a positive income. The Iraq War and war in the Middle East that has
been going on for years is an ideal example. On the other hand, the positive aspect of war would be
how the United States and its allies can unite to eradicate threats that are dangerous to the world as a
whole. In short though, if wars with no meaning or goal continue to wage on, society will be reduced

The article was week was interesting, because of the way reacted to the protests. There were hundreds of thousand of people protesting for Women s March all over the country. What I learned from the article is how hundreds of thousands of people protested against Donald Trump. It surprises me that Trump barely reacted to the protesters right outside the White House. Then, Trump s Press Secretary Sean Spicer planned to make a statement. All Spicer did was scold reporters, and he did not answer any protest question. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts swore in Donald Trump. Since Trump is our new president, he should at least address the protesters. Besides, the first amendment law states congress shall make no law abridging freedom of speech. I think it is really amazing so many came to protest outside the White House. I didn t think so many people would be protesting. I really think all these protests are great, we are using the first amendment. • 5. Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to presume Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his recount of the historical battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play to the events leading to war, he simultaneously gives us insight into the political and private life of a king. It is this unity of two distinct areas that has turned the play into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and periodically disfigured by opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe that Henry is the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself disliked Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for insight into society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the situation to which the play refers no longer exists, a connection can be made between spectator and stage. The Chorus facilitates this connection. Shakespeare obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience visualize the proceedings of history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience member on a journey through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of Henry, in accordance with the instructions given, for it would be falsification of history to pretend that [the play] could contain a clear cut and unambiguous ideal (Iser 186). The Chorus provides a sense of individual responsibility in creating an image; a product of the imagination and not a fact of history. The Chorus bridges the gap between the past and the present. The spectator is encouraged to walk on an illusionary plain with Henry and share in his experiences. The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be little in terms of stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new method of a raw and pure rendition of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage and actors will do, how much the audience must do for itself (Beauman 6). Think, when we talk of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the early days of tribes marking off where their best hunting grounds are, to the modern day of mapping flight paths, cartography has evolved and developed in various ways to what it is today. There are now technologies that allow for people to design maps in ways never imagined before. Computer programmes exist that allow for different types of data to be stored so that accurate representations can be formed. It has been said that, Maps are pictures of the world s land surface, showing its features, resources and the way it has been developed. (Bondi, et al., 1977) Origins and History The beginnings of Cartography It has been said that Cartography originated thousands of years ago. Wall paintings believed to represent a maps of the heavens exist all around the world. The oldest maps that have been preserved on Babylonian clay tablets are from around 2300 B.C. Cartography as a whole was dominant in Greece as the subject was more advanced than other locations and so the spherical Earth was well known amongst Greek philosophers. (Aber, 2008). The reference line principle was created by one of Aristotle s disciples. Dichaearchus was this disciple s name and he obtained this theory by placing an orientation line that ran from east to west. The song written by Horton explains how The Battle of New Orleans was started and how it ended. It starts off informing listeners that Colonel Jackson was taking his infantry south, following the Mississippi River. The primary issue to address was the institution of slavery, which was causing much dissension between the north and the south. Additional items to be addressed were territory issues and to prevent secession by the south. Henry Clay stepped forward to present a compromise, which had Congress in an eight month discussion known as the Great Debate . As a result of the proposal, there were strong oppositions. Webster believed the issue of slavery was settled long ago, when the regions were divided into slave and free states, and he also believed an agreement could be reached between the pro slavery positions in the south and anti slavery position in the north. Comparatively, Calhoun and Webster both saw the union was in danger of falling apart, they also both believed the issues of slavery between the north and the south was the major cause. Where they disagreed was on the future state of slavery. Calhoun saw the compromise as a betrayal of the south; he sought to have the northerners agree to the protection of slavery in the south so the south would remain in the union. Calhoun knew slavery pre existed and believed it must continue to exist. Webster was more of a pacifist, he pleaded with the northerners to accept demands of the south in order to save the union, even though he did not accept the fact slavery needed to continue. Webster deeply believed that preservation of the union was more important than any other issue. In addition, William Henry Seward also opposed the proposed compromise. • 12. Mosaics in Early Byzantine Era The increase in mosaics in churches in Late Antiquity and the Byzantine Era was largely due to the influence of the Roman Emperor Constantine (ruled from 306 to 337 AD). During his rule as emperor, Christianity became the major religion and there was a push for more buildings to house the followers of Christ. Along with the new buildings there was a need to decorate these places of worship accordingly and express the religion in a grandiose sort of way. Mosaics were generally the inexpensive and impressive answer that was used to convey the church s message. Through mosaics, the people of the church could learn and be informed of the spiritual and cultural symbolism (Kleiner and Mamiya 313). Early mosaics before this time period had ... • 13. Marriage Proposals In Pride And Prejudice Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen in the Regency Period of England. The book represents to the reader how females, marriage and social class were viewed at the time, as well as demonstrates Austen s opinion on these matters in a somewhat satirical sense. The two marriage proposals in the book towards the lead female character, Elizabeth Bennet, are put forth by Mr Collins and Mr Darcy, both of whom exaggerate the social norms of the time; as women were not expected to marry for love, but for financial gain, the terms for both proposals are focused more on the gains of both the man and the woman rather than true feelings towards the affair. The ridiculed etiquette shows how Austen held the rules of the time in low regard. Both proposals comprise of snide comments on Elizabeth s social class and financial situation; Collins remarks that Elizabeth will inherit only one thousand pounds in the four per cents, which will not be yours till after your ... This, as well as the fact that he inquired after her health is a contrast to the cold, manipulative character of Mr Collins, who attempts to threaten Elizabeth into marrying him. Likewise, Darcy does not react well to the rejection to his proposal, as his complexion became pale with anger , and continues to insult Elizabeth, saying that she is not civil . Therefore, even though the beginning of the two proposals differed dramatically, the denial of the proposal causes each male to react as if it was Elizabeth s fault that they were rejected. This ties in to Austen s views of how men at the time were taught that they could marry any girl if their offer was good enough; this, obviously, is not the case, as Elizabeth cares more about her feelings than the technicalities of the marriage, and ridicules the attitudes of men towards ... This piece reveals a very dark truth, revealed through the theme, which is being controlled by fear. It is eloquently portrayed through her simple, yet descriptive wording. Allowing irrational fear to take over one s life leads to self destruction, which is the dark truth Gordimer wants the reader to understand. The moral of this story proves to be ironic. Although some people may think that the book is very cut to the point, especially with the fact that there are few characters, it has a great amount of detail, it s very organized, and the structure of the book itself is amazing. This book is definitely worth reading, and one reason is that there is a limited amount of characters. Some books, like the Lord of the Rings series, have too many characters, and that makes the book hard to follow, which makes the book uninteresting. There are also several forms of figurative language like similes, metaphors, and lots of personification. On page 3, the text states, The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. On page 5 it states, It wandered along in curves and easy angles, swayed off and up in a pleasant tangent to the top of a small hill, ambled down again between fringes of bee hung clover, and then cut sidewise across a meadow. Both of these passages provide, in great detail, a mental picture of what the book looks like. The final reason that people should read this book is because of the way the author writes the novel. Ms. Babbit, the author, makes you feel like the characters are right next to you. She makes them feel like they are right when they are wrong. For example, when Mae Tuck kills the man in the Yellow Suit, you feel she is in the right like she s done absolutely nothing wrong. • 16. Used To Know Interpretation Taking a deeper look at Gotye s song, Somebody That I Used to Know, it can be assumed that Gotye s need for dominance and obsession with the past is what causes his dysfunctional behavior. The two protagonists, Gotye and Kimbra, went through a difficult split due to Gotye s destructive character. Gotye wrote the paradox of Kimbra being right for him, but felt so lonely and unfulfilled in her company. Ever since his last break up, he has felt very isolated, so for him to cease that feeling, he had to find someone new. He may have liked Kimbra at first, but after a while he was just with her to show his friends he wasn t alone. Gotye didn t want other people to see how he really is, because loneliness equates to being weak, in his perspective. He is stuck in the past and struggles with getting over it; hence he cheated on Kimbra with his past lover. On the same note, Gotye calls Kimbra somebody that he used to know at the end of the song, just like how Kimbra referred to his ex as. Now that Gotye and Kimbra treat each other like strangers, Gotye s obsession with the past is going to keep being trouble for him. He shows a confusing attitude towards Kimbra, the question of him being hurt or okay with the break up comes to mind. He says that he doesn t need her because he wants to display male dominance. However, he secretly is upset, based on him saying that Kimbra treating him like she never knew him felt harsh, which reflects on how he s hung up on Kimbra, who is his past ... However, the fact that we live in a social climate that routinely rejects aspects of communities of color, hair has come to be an increasingly symbolic piece of our racial identities. This is especially true for the black community in the United States. After generations of countering Eurocentric ideologies surrounding acceptability, members of the black community are beginning to embrace the acceptance of their own images despite cultural messages that continue to promote the opposite. • 19. Catullus And Lesbia Relationship Option 2: Catullus and Lesbia s Relationship Introduction Lesbia is the subject of Catullus s most passionate and seemingly sincere poems. The relationship between Catullus and Lesbia is tumultuous to say the least. His poems about Lesbia and their relationship display a wide range of emotions which change from a relationship of tenderness and love, to one of uncertainty, to one of sorrow and disappointment. They rapidly fall in and out of love with another. Their affections for one another are fickle and constantly changing. They have a mercurial kind of love. Catullus obviously loved Lesbia deeply, but he also feels intense dislike, disappointment and contempt towards her. Through it all, it seems as though Catullus longs for Lesbia, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The playful passion of the previous poems about Lesbia has been overturned by the announcement that the relationship is as dead as the sparrow. Catullus seems spiteful towards the end of the poem when he asserts that no other man will love Lesbia like he did. Catullus believes that his relationship with Lesbia was special and that her relationships with other men will never match what they had together. The phrasing in this poem is deliberately simple as if Catullus has taken or the persona of a fool or Lesbia s plaything, just like her pet sparrow. It is important for individual differences to be recognized and taken into consideration when it comes to managing any organization. Leadership is just as critical because it is the influence within an organization that has a meaningful impact. Leadership maximizes individuals efforts so key goals can be achieved. They could own land, rise to positions of power, and even purchase their freedom. This changed when white captains came to Africa and offered weapons, rum, and manufactured goods for people. African kings and merchants gave away the criminals, debtors, and prisoner from rival tribes. Finally, drawn by his affection for his ten year old sister, Phoebe, Holden abandons his spree and returns home. Francisco De Goya Black Paintings Francisco de Goya s Pinturas negras, or Black Paintings, are some of the most grotesque and unsettling images in art history, with one painting in particular, Saturno devorando a su hijo, or Saturn Devouring One of His Sons, standing out the most amongst them all. With his wildly staring eyes, gaping mouth and half eaten son in his hands, it makes one wonder what would drive an artist to create an image like this. Goya, however, was not uneducated in the horrors of the world, witnessing the travesties of the Peninsular War, the atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, surviving two life threatening illnesses, with one leaving him completely deaf, and the death of six of his seven children. Perhaps it was one of these instances in particular that encouraged him to conceiving this disconcerting figure, or perhaps it was a combination of the three. At the beginning of Goya s career, in 1777, he was commissioned to create a series of tapestry cartoons from the Royal Tapestry Factory, designing some 42 patterns over five years. Some of his more popular paintings were originally tapestry cartoons such as The Parasol. His use of the popular Rococo style, brought him to the attention of the aristocracy of Spain. In 1789, he was appointed to court painter to Charles IV and then the following year, he became First Court Painter. His portraits of the king, queen and royal family, were anything but flattering. Example Of Six Hats Strategy Concept of Six hats strategy The concept is typically used in business settings; however, applying the same concept in counseling supervision can help facilitate and balance diverse viewpoints and polarities. (Li, 2008). Six thinking hats strategy helps in creative thinking in which one can unbundle thinking; in a way that one can pay full attention to each aspect in turn. Through using this strategy, one can separate the modes of thinking and then apply each mode to the same subject in order to end up with full color thinking on the subject. There is a suggestion that the chemical setting in the brain (neurotransmitter, etc) may be different when one is being positive from when one is being negative, and from one is being creative. If this proves to be so, then there is an absolute need to separate out the different components of thinking in order to do each properly. The Electronic Communication Privacy Act, 1986 The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986 The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986 was initially n amendment of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (Title III) which was also referred to as Wiretap Statute. This was an act that was intended to stop government illegal access to the private electronic communications. With the emergence of other means of electronic communication like the internet, there was a growing tendency of the government agencies to sneak into the information channels of citizens without their permission. This was due to the fact that the 1968 Act did not cover the electronic mails that were en route to their final destination. The courts till 2005 declared that this type of communication was not covered by the 1986 Act. It was until then that the US Court of Appeal reversed the ruling that has been barring the e mails from being covered under the privacy provision. The above scenario that the ECPA had to be amended with the argument that all electronic communication has to be temporarily stored at some given point in time and the argument that there was no any illegality in any interception before the communication reaches the destination was null and void. In addition, Kerouac himself warns his editor Helen Taylor in a letter, no more irresponsible copy editing of my Mark Twain Huckleberry prose (131). At the other end of each fallopian tube is a fringed area that looks like a funnel and wraps around the ovary. The fallopian tube does not completely attach to the ovary. ➢ When an egg pops out of an ovary, it enters the fallopian tube and tiny hairs in the tube s lining help push it down the narrow passageway toward the uterus. After intercourse, sperm in the vagina passes through the cervix, the uterus, and then to the fallopian tubes. If a sperm encounters an ovum (egg), conception occurs. 4. The ovaries are part of the endocrine system and produce estrogen and progesterone, female sex hormones. ➢ The ovaries are among the first organs to be formed as a female baby develops. By 20 weeks, the ovaries have about 6 to 7 million potential egg cells. From that point on however, the number begins to decrease rapidly. A newborn infant has between 1 million to 2 million egg cells. By puberty, the number of egg cells remaining is about 300,000. • 39. The Plays of Tennessee Williams Tennessee Williams was known as one of the greatest and most controversial playwrights in American history. He once said I believe that writing or any form of creative work was never meant by nature to be a man s way of making a living, that when it becomes one it almost certainly loses a measure of purity (Lewis 54). This statement shows that Williams was a genuine writer who used his plays and poems to express his own thoughts. Williams was known for his Southern Gothic writing style. This is a style of writing practiced by many writers of the American South whose stories set in that region are characterized by grotesque, macabre, or fantastic incidents ( Southern gothic ). Some critics believe that Williams had sacrificed his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is shown throughout the play that lying is something people do daily in order to conform to society s wants. Big Daddy has made his life, rose up from beneath and became a rich and social man. His son, Brick, knows what his family expects of him and refuses to let them down by even contemplating the fact that he may be homosexual. He has not been true to himself or the world in the aspect of love. He knows that neither the world nor his family would accept him if it turned out that he was homosexual, so he buries that thought deep inside him. The denial of his friend Skippers love for him tore Brick down little by little on the inside until he began to hate the world, and felt disgusted for being a part of it. This play is just one more reason that Williams was known as a controversial playwright. At this point in time, in 1955, homosexuality was not discussed publicly. When Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was being made into a movie all hints of homosexuality were taken out of the script because it was considered to be a form of perversion. Williams himself had a long term partner in Frank Merlo, meaning that he himself was homosexual during the time when it was not fully accepted. Merlo acted as Williams manager, which in a way shows how Skipper was Bricks best friend but was actually in love with him. Some critics say that because Williams used a lot of the same themes in his works that he became predictable. Even Williams would admit to writing about the same themes, ... Meditation and the Brain Essay Meditation and the Brain When discussing the relationship of brain and behavior, the materialist view of human experience runs into conflict with the historically dominant religious accounts. Recent studies, however, suggests that there may be a middle view between the two world views. Religions, especially Buddhism, stress the role of meditation in one s spiritual growth. Meditation has tangible psychological and physiological benefits, though, which can be explained strictly in neurobiological terms. Understanding of how meditation affects the brain, and, by extension, human behavior, also gives insight into consciousness, the role of feedback loops, and the nature of the I function. The goal of Buddhist meditation is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of seeing a soul or a mind as the seat of personal identity, in Buddhism, the self is to be found in processes. Meditation, then, has the therapeutic effect of disengaging the practitioner from self consciousness, freeing the mind. The view of the world without the construct of a permanent essence enables one to experience reality as it really is (3). It is important to note that Buddhism does not distinguish mental processes from other senses. Just as seeing takes a visual object, the mind takes a mental object (1). Just as the eye is free to take in different visual objects, the mind is free, as well. While meditation aims to develop single pointedness of mind, it is ultimately to free it from external objects. The focus is on the process of breathing, in Zen, and, eventually, one can reach a state where one is not considering anything (2). Zen considers the blank mind stage to be a higher form of consciousness because it is free from attachments. Indeed, one of the goals of meditation is the mindful state, which is awareness of objects, mind states, and physical states but not attachment to them. Buddhism puts a great emphasis on empirical understanding of the world (3), through meditation and through observation, and the mindful state is one which recognizes distractions and attachments, and acknowledges them, in order to achieve awareness of one s true nature. The authors of Crime and Punishment in the Elizabethan Era conclude that due to Elizabeth s strict convictions, England became a safer society. Even for committing minor crimes, people would be arrested and punished quickly (1). Before Elizabeth s reign, punishments for committing crimes were uncommon, resulting in an unorganized society. Having a careless, free society leads to outbursts and revolts which could eventually lead to bigger disputes, like a civil war. Elizabeth worked to prevent this by enforcing acts of public humiliation and larger punishments. These tough punishments lead people to not want to break the law or commit any crimes whatsoever. Although Elizabeth was strict and penalized citizens for small crimes, her actions led to maintaining peace and balance throughout England. Conclusion With this thesis I wanted to create a broader view on the systems behind all the critiques on volunteerism projects in order to contribute to projects that are both beneficial for volunteers as well as for host communities. The theoretical aim of this thesis was to contribute to the scientific debate on how volunteerism projects impact volunteers and host communities, through showing how this impact is influenced by processes of liminality and Othering. On top of that, I wanted to question the notion of giving aid as the starting point of volunteerism projects. The story represented two groups; volunteers and host communities, who joined volunteerism projects with good intentions. This quote from Usamah, an Arab from the Twelfth Century, shows the strenuous effort the Arabs put towards fighting in the Crusades. The Crusades lasted for about 200 years, between the Europeans and Muslims. Due to the immense benefits received, the Crusades results did justify the means. The Europeans learned much from the Arabs; they brought back innovative ideas about different topics. They also fought against the potential tyranny, which all must do. The Seljuk Turks had been attacking the Byzantines for many YEARS. The Western church, when called on by their Eastern Christian brothers, sent their men to aid in defense from the invasions of the Turks. The Crusaders additional motive of regaining the Holy Land was not the first goal in their minds; they originally wanted to aid their allies in the East. The Europeans had to fight the potential tyranny, just as the Americans did against the tyrant, Hitler. The Americans fought for their belief, and although some fought for religious purposes, most did not; they fought to help the Jews and prevent the Nazi s from taking over the world. Likewise, the Crusaders fought for their beliefs, and although some killed the Turks because of their religion, most did not; they fought to stop the invasions into the Byzantine Church s land. The Eastern Church may have eventually been oppressed by the Turks if they had not fought back and asked for allies, much like the Irish against the British. • 49. Analysis Of Happiness Is A Warm Gun Fast forward three years and it is easy to see what dramatic change came about in The Beatles style. In 1968 The Beatles released their White Album. This album took them into a transcendental era of the psychedelic movement, where drug fueled experimentation with heavy beats and intense topics became the focus of their music. Happiness Is A Warm Gun is a musical masterpiece that combined The Beatles new found music style, edgy, risky lyrics, and an underlying undertone that many viewed as inappropriate for the public audience. The song opens musically with only a guitar playing a riff behind the vocals. The song sounds to be in C major, but the opening sounds to be in a minor key. This song seems like it is three different songs woven together through intense beats and time signature changes. The beginning is 4/4 but changes to 3/4 and 2/4 throughout the songs entirety. If I separated the song into three parts, different tempos and instruments can be heard. In the beginning, only a guitar plays, followed by drums and short chord strikes to create a chopping noise. The second part, characterized by the tempo change and an intense guitar solo, adds a new percussion sound through the slashing of cymbals and deliberate pedal stomps. The third part shows another signature change back to 4/4 and a milder use of the cymbal, while still maintaining the chord chops. The riff from the introduction is maintained throughout the whole song. A syncopated melody can be heard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout time, there have been good things and bad things that have occurred. In the blink of an eye, tragedy can strike or luck can come. I believe that society has currently been heading towards the negative end of the spectrum. Government, war, and law enforcement are all parts of society that have had their ups and downs. All of them can be compared and contrasted to accurately display the direction that society is heading. For instance, government is a highly controversial topic in American society. It has done things in favor of the people, but it has also gone against the people. To begin with the U.S. government does a great job with protecting the freedoms of the people (mostly). It has provided education for most of the public and done a fair job in keeping the peace. However, there are more things that the government does secretly and publicly that are detrimental to society. In Indiana, a specific law has recently come to the surface.
