I had the privilege of observing a teacher at my church pre k classroom on Wednesday the 6th of

history of slavery . Not many people understand how the slave trade initially began. Originally Africa
had slaves but they were servants or serfs, sometimes these people could be part of the master s

changed when white captains came to Africa and offered weapons, rum, and manufactured goods for
people. African kings and merchants gave away the criminals, debtors, and prisoner from rival tribes.
The demand for cheap labor was increasing, this resulted in the forced migration of over ten million
slaves. The Atlantic Slave Trade occurred from 1500 to 1880 CE. This large scale event changed the

The act of slavery was already happening in Africa prior to The Atlantic Slave Trade. The slave trade

Purpose; The antioxidant properties of Capparis spinosa honey and propolis and the effect of
combined honey and propolis administration on urine volume and electrolytes were studied in rats.
Material and methods; Capparis spinosa honey (1g/kg.b.wt), propolis (100 mg/kg.b.wt),
honey/propolis mixture (100 mg/1g/kg.b.wt), distilled water (1 ml/kg.b.wt) and furosemide (10
mg/kg.b.wt) were orally administered to five groups of rats for 21 days. Urine volume, blood and
urine sodium, potassium and chloride were measured. The antioxidant activity of propolis and the
honey was assessed and their total phenols and flavonoids were determined.
Results; Propolis and Capparis spinosa honey contain polyphenols including flavonoids and propolis
demonstrated higher antioxidant activities than honey. Honey significantly increased urine volume and
urine electrolyte excretion. Propolis has no significant effect on urine volume but co administration of
propolis and honey caused significant diuresis. No major changes were observed in plasma
electrolytes with use of honey, propolis or their combination.
Conclusion; Honey and propolis have antioxidant activity and contain polyphenols including
flavonoids that were more pronounced in propolis. Honey has a significant diuretic activity alone or in
combination with propolis. This is the first study comparing the diuretic effect of co administration of
propolis and Capparis spinosa honey with furosemide.

With this thesis I wanted to create a broader view on the systems behind all the critiques on
volunteerism projects in order to contribute to projects that are both beneficial for volunteers as well
as for host communities. The theoretical aim of this thesis was to contribute to the scientific debate on
how volunteerism projects impact volunteers and host communities, through showing how this impact
is influenced by processes of liminality and Othering. On top of that, I wanted to question the notion
of giving aid as the starting point of volunteerism projects. The story represented two groups;
volunteers and host communities, who joined volunteerism projects with good intentions. Some,
however, unaware of the unintended consequences and how their expectations would work out.

instruments can be heard. In the beginning, only a guitar plays, followed by drums and short chord
strikes to create a chopping noise. The second part, characterized by the tempo change and an intense
guitar solo, adds a new percussion sound through the slashing of cymbals and deliberate pedal stomps.
The third part shows another signature change back to 4/4 and a milder use of the cymbal, while still
maintaining the chord chops. The riff from the introduction is maintained throughout the whole song.
