Innovation In Ww1
Tanks
Jack Elmes
How did tank innovation impact warfare and the soldiers who fought in the trenches during World War
One?
World War One was known as the First World War or The Great War. It began on the 28th of July
1914 and lasted until the 11th of November 1918. Thirty countries were involved in the war. Over nine
million soldiers died and twenty one million were wounded. Undeniably World War One was one of
the biggest and most devastating wars in history. Trench warfare took those who signed up by
complete surprise. A war that was intended to be all about movement became stagnant. Soldiers were
very much stuck in the trenches and experienced horrendous conditions. As a result the use of
terrifying new technologies not used before were created in a response to the conditions of trench
warfare. This resulted in trench warfare being changed forever due to the introduction of the tank in
1915.
It has been stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tank was the first armored machine to be used. It was adapted from tractors and its goal was to
break through the heavily fortified trenches and offer protection to the troops from any artillery fire.
British engineering was the origin of the first WW1 Landship , which became the tank as we now
know it. Tanks were a very important part of WW1 as they increased mobility on the front line and
broke the stalemate of trench warfare. The first tank ever used in military conflict was at the battle of
Flers Courcelette in September 1916. The first prototype tank came out in 1915 by the British it was
called little Willie, weighed 14 tons and could only travel at two miles per hour. This tank was not
used in warfare. Big Bertha was the most famous tank it had a 48 ton gun capable of firing a shell over
9 miles. It took 200 men several hours to assemble the gun.

The Middle Phase Of Learning
In Queensland schools, the Middle Phase of Learning is a distinct period for students in the Year 4 to
Year 9 cohorts. It is divided into two phases. The onset of the Middle Phase of Learning is a time of
transition, many learners are keen to discover and investigate an extensive range of learning
experiences. However, some learners begin to lose interest and progress in learning may diminish. The
subsequent phase for learners, is filled with challenges. Physical, emotional, intellectual and social
issues can impact upon students learning. For learners to be prepared for the senior phase of learning,
student s curiosity and enthusiasm must be nurtured and further opportunities provided to enable
learners to gain knowledge and skills if progress slows.
During this phase, learners are shifting from concrete to abstract thinking and have emergent capacity
for higher order analysis and reflection. They are also moving towards more rational decision making
and an improved understanding of the consequences of behaviour.
Middle Phase learners have an increasing interest in ethical and moral enquiries and exploring real
world social issues. For many students, the transition from primary to secondary school can be
stimulating and stress free, while others feel fearful and hesitant as they have a powerful need to
belong and accepted by their peers. Subsequently, Middle Phase learners strive to be independent, but
while outwardly

Flowers For Algernon Persuasive Essay
Flowers for Algernon Persuasive Essay
Before the operation, Charlie Gordon, from Flowers for Algernon, by Daniel Keyes, is happy. He may
have a simple, pitiful existence, but he thinks his friends like him, and enjoys being with them and
Miss Kinnian at the Learning Center for Slow Adults. However, Charlie wants to be smart, the one
dark cloud in his sunny sky of life. Because of this, Charlie volunteers for an operation to triple his IQ
of 68. With a high IQ comes awareness of the world around him, so Charlie suddenly becomes
conscious of his previously pitiful existence which leads to a slew of feelings such as embarrassment,
shame, and superiority. Charlie thinks that becoming smart will make him happy and well liked, but
the operation works the opposite effect. Charlie starts to look down on everyone, and cannot socialize
with others because of his IQ. As a result, Charlie becomes almost depressed. His depression deepens
when Charlie discovers that his intelligence will not be permanent. Soon, Charlie regresses to his
former childlike mentality. Although at the end of the novel, Charlie does not find himself any worse
off after the operation, the few months he spent smarter are not terribly enjoyable for him, and his
changing mentality negatively impacts those he is close to, namely Miss Kinnian. Because the effects
are not permanent, Charlie would be far better off without the operation.
One reason Charlie wanted to be smart was so that he could make more

Case 7 Roswell Sophomores
Seven Roswell sophomores were selected to be on the Varsity girls soccer squad this year. This is an
impressive accomplishment, because the team is typically dominated by upper classmen. These
students are Bella Akin (left back), Elise Baron (midfield), Meghan Connelly (winger/striker/right or
left midfielder), Sienna Kent (winger/striker/right or left midfielder), Hayden Hammerman (center
back), Anne Lescher (right back), and Kristin Liquori (goalie). At tryouts, the coach saw great
potential in these players, especially in their ability to communicate and work together. These players
positions are difficult to understand because not many ordinary people watch soccer. A left back
basically provides defense and ball movement

The Rise Of Terrorism
Since 2001, the American society as we know it has changed dramatically. The rise of terrorism on the
homefront has caused us to change how the government interacts with its citizens. The rise of secrecy
and the loss of privacy has come as a response to these actions and we see no end to it.
September 11th, 2001, caused the government to step back from the idea of transparency and take a
look at its own citizens as possible threats to national security. If one were to take a Bayesian
inference following the events of 911, the governmental response could have been seen as inevitable.
The national security of the hegemonic state of the world had become vulnerable, and a strong
response was needed. Seemingly all aspects of our lives have been effected from the way we go about
our day to day activities, to the way we travel. The idea of privacy was one of the first to come into
question. How can you accurately defend yourselves from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When challenging the idea of terrorism, especially in the aspect of homegrown terrorism, the
government made its spending and its agencies more secretive than they had been during the cold war.
The 1974 Freedom of Information Act now seemed to be a distant memory, beyond secrecy in the
agencies and spending there was now a secret geography to the US and international world.
Now that the war on terrorism is an international crisis, more so than the war on terror we launched
after 911, what the American government felt like it needed to do to protect our security seems like an
over extension of our power and a threat to the values we hold as a free country. The launching of the
new secretive side to the US government seems like a valid response to the events of 911, and other
terrorist acts, but have taken an extreme toll on how we feel about big government and our

The Diversity Of Multicultural Education
According to (Beal Bolick, 2012), Each day s wave of current events reinforces our awareness that our
globally interdependent world is a mélange of people of different colors, religions, languages, and
customs (p. 55). Similar to the global world, classrooms across American today are beginning to look
the same, raising awareness for teaching that is all inclusive. Social studies teachers today are facing
increasing difficulties with creating curriculums that meet their state s mandated requirements and
each individual learner, learning needs. A typical classroom will consist of students that may not speak
English as a second language, a mixture of male and female students, and more important, children
coming from several different backgrounds, having varying life experiences. Thus, the cultural
differences resulted in a greater demand for today s social studies teacher to practice culturally
relevant teaching by using multicultural teaching dimensions, so that all children can achieve.
Multicultural education will be successful only when the teacher understands the meaning of
multicultural education, take into account results from their assessments of the children is learning
styles, and then make changes to their teaching methods if necessary, by using a wide range of
strategies and teaching techniques, that encourage diversity and acceptance. Multicultural education
resembles instructions conveyed through content integration with real life experiences, and

The Social Problem Of The Video Separate And Unequal Is...
The social problem shown in the video Separate and Unequal is poverty and racism. This video
focuses specifically on Jackson, Mississippi. This video takes a look at Lanier High School and some
of the student s experiences and difficulties in this school due to poverty in this town. Jackson
Mississippi is 70% black and Lanier High School is 100% black students. Everything started to go
downhill for this community after integration occurred. Black students left their school and went to a
more diverse school. But no one chose to come to Lanier High School or Jackson due to how run
down the community and school was. Therefore the community only suffered. Manuel is a student at
Lanier High School. He does not have a father figure and his mother is not in good condition due to
her stroke, so he has to take care of her. He struggles in school with his grades and authority from the
teachers. He plays on the basketball team but always fights with his coach because he is not used to
male authority. He is kicked off of the team and ends up failing tenth grade. He then roams the streets
with his buddies and his mom is very worried he ll end up in jail or even worse, death. He is a prime
example of how poverty in his family and community affect him directly. Alicia is a teen mom at
Lanier High School. She is raising her baby with the help of her mother because the father is in jail.
She struggles in school due to providing for her baby and ends up dropping out. She continues to try

Using R And R Statements Essay
Adults in both videos did not use R and R statements because they did not describe and help children
to understand what children were doing. First, a mother was complaining to her child crying and
pulling her, carrying her to outside. The mother lost her temper and kept sending you Messages
instead of I Messages. She blamed on her child for everything. She didn t think what the real problem
was. She asked to her child, Why you do that? , but this why questions were not open ended questions.
These questions were more coming from the adult frustration that she could not control over her child.
She also called her daughter bad names and treated her child without dignity. The mother was just
reacting the situation and made her more miserable. She is a really bad role model for her child. Both
mother and caregivers are not effective and active communicators.
Second, at naptime a boy named Joshua seemed like to be given hard time sleeping. The caregiver told
Joshua what she wanted him to do. She said, You don t have to go to sleep, but you need to lay down
and rest. I think if she stopped at this sentence, he might not scream. However, she added that playing
was not the choice. That adding sentence made him really upset. When caregiver asked Joshua, why
questions to him, she should let him calm down first. The caregiver placed Joshua s napping mat
isolated from children as if he was timeout. She said, I am not coming back if you do... , and she
basically told

Interview With Oprah Winfrey
The Interview of a Lifetime with Oprah Winfrey If there was any one person walking today that I
would love to have an interview with, it would surely be Oprah Winfrey. Oprah Gail Winfrey was
born January 29, 1954 in a rural impoverished town of Mississippi where she lived with her
grandmother in her earlier years of life. Her mom was a teenage single mother. This coincides with my
life which in some instances mirrors Oprah s life in early childhood. My mom married at the age of 14
and had her first child at 15 years of age.
Oprah was later sent to Milwaukee to live with her mom when she was 6 years of age. He mom
worked long hours as a maid and Oprah was molested several times by male family members. Oprah

I want to know who and what turned her life around that inspired her to pressed onward and decide
failure was not an option. Oprah s early years in life were so unstable, filled with all the adversities
that would have put her on the statistic chart for failure. Instead, she was blessed beyond measures and
pressed on to become a major success crossing all boundaries. She is a black female, born into
poverty, unstable home life, teen Varner 3 pregnancy and molestation. Most, if not just one of these
adversities would have set an average person back where they would have been defeated in seeing
beyond the pain and failed to move onward. Oprah makes it a habit of giving back and blessing people
with her wealth, knowledge and gift of perseverance. She as inspired men, women and children of all
ages and cultural backgrounds. I would love to have a conversation with Oprah to enhance, strengthen
and help me to develop into the source of inspiration as I have been to quite a few, expanding my love
and motivation for hundreds of thousands of people who has experienced hardships and was able to

The Adopt-A-Rock Project
THE GAME OF STONES: KYANITE QUARTZITE
ABSTRACT
The main objective of this Adopt A Rock project is to analyze and categorize thin section #86 as well
as educate the reader about kyanite quartzite and its role on Earth. To identify the #86 thin section:
First, using individual mineral characteristics and descriptions under a petrologic microscope,
followed by hand sample diagnostics. Metamorphic rocks are significant pieces in the Earth s
geochronology. As they develop from the transformation of existing rock types, in a process called
metamorphism, which means, change in form . Metamorphic rocks are important since they make up a
large part of the Earth s crust. Among these rocks is kyanite quartzite. A perfect example of a contact

A popular country that contains kyanite quartzites is Norway (Müller, et al, 2007). Norwegian kyanite
quartzite occurrences as potential deposits of high purity quartz raw material (Müller, et al, 2007).
Kyanite quartzites are rare fine grained quartzites with 70% to 85% mode of quartz and less than 15%
mode kyanite (Al2SiO5) which occur in Proterozoic supracrustal rock units (Müller, et al, 2007).
Kyanite quartzites appear in four less populated cities in Norway: Solør, Surnadalen, Nasafjellet and
Skjome (Müller, et al, 2007). Kyanite Quartzite can also be found in the Southeastern part of the
United States. The largest kyanite mine on Earth is hosted at Willis Mountain in the Piedmont
Province of Virginia, and several smaller bodies occur through this region (Owens and Pasek, 2009).
Kyanite quartz deposits are the biggest and most plentiful of the group of high alumina quartzose
deposits in the Southeast (Espenshade and Potter, 1960). The primary kyanite deposits in the
Farmville district are the deposits of kyanite quartzite at Willis Mountain and Woods Mountain in
Buckingham County, at Leigh and Baker Mountains in Prince Edward County (Espenshade and
Potter, 1960).
As well as being an exquisite metamorphic rock, Kyanite Quartzites do have a particular economic
value to the world also (Müller, et al, 2007). Low concentrations of trace elements in quartz, quartz is
almost free of fluid inclusions, size and exposure of

World War 1 Summary
Setting the Stage for World War One History identifies the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
at Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, as the direct cause of World War One. Nonetheless, historians are in
agreement that there were many factors contributing to the conflict between the Great powers,
resulting in a large scale war to break out. The second industrialization also known as the
Technological Revolution from 1870 1914 cultivated industrial societies to emerge and leading to new
forms of states and of diplomatic and military alignments (Barzun). These military alignments were
later to be known as The Great Powers of Europe. The Great Powers were divided into two alliances:
The Triple Alliance between Germany, Italy Austria Hungry established in 1882, and The Triple
Entente between Britain, Russia France established in 1907 (Tonge). There were three main rivalries
between the powers: Germany France over the Alsace Lorraine territory (5,067 square miles of land
that was ceded by France to Germany in 1871 after the Franco German War), Russia Austria over the
Balkans peninsula in Southeast Europe (a desirable territory for its strategically vital geographic
location surrounded by four seas: the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, the Adriatic and the Aegean, and
situated at the crossroads of three major empires Ottoman, Russian and Austro Hungarian), and
Britain Germany over naval and economic power. In the years prior to the war, military spending

professor to interview. The professor I chose to interview was Dr. Jill Beyette. Dr. Beyette is my

my favorite classes this fall semester. Dr. Beyette makes the class as simple as possible and makes
herself very approachable to her students. This is another reason I decided to interview her. Through
completing the interview, I learned more about Dr. Beyette in her academic endeavours and her

Regulations Of Capital Investment Products
2. Analyze Regulations in Venture Capital
2.1 In this part, we will put up some typical regulations to analyze whether they are available or
necessary. If possible, we may give some advices to develop these regulations.
BASEL III Requirements and REPO Availability
On Jan 1st, 2014, Basel III regulations show the effectiveness on banks with more than $250B in total
consolidated assets or greater than $10B in foreign exposure. These large banks are important issuers
of repurchase agreements, the capital investment vehicle for the overmuch funds in venture capital
firms. Generally, the US government or a Federal Agency issue or guarantee collateral used in these
transactions, and the agreements reset each day.
In addition, the supply of this high quality collateral has reduced because of the asset purchase plan of
the Federal Reserve. Totally, high quality collateralizes the availability of repo, low risk securities may
diminish over the near term, resulting in a shift towards lower quality, higher risk collateral for longer
terms. We might see the development of alternative interest bearing investment products as a result of
this potential shortfall in repo inventory.

Ajanta and Ellora are the pride of Maharashtra
INTRO
Ajanta and Ellora are the pride of Maharashtra. The rock cut caves of both these sites are world
famous and illustrate the degree of skill and artistry that Indian craftsmen had achieved several
hundred years ago. Ajanta dates from 100 B.C. while Ellora is younger by some 600 years. The village
of Ajanta is in the Sahyadri hills, about 99 kms. From Aurangabad; a few miles away in a mammoth
horseshoe formed rock, are 30 caves overlooking a gorge, `each forming a room in the hill and some
with inner rooms. Al these have been carved out of solid rock with little more than a hammer and

A first group of caves was created in the 2nd century BC: the chaitya grihas open into the rock wall by
doorways surmounted by a horse shoe shaped bay. The ground plan is a basilical one: piers separate
the principal nave from the side aisles which join in the apsis to permit the ritual circumambulation
behind the (commemorative monument). This rupestral architecture scrupulously reproduces the
forms and elements visible in wooden constructions.
According to Spink (2006), the first phase was the construction of sanctuaries (known as chaytia
grihas) built during the period 100 BCE to 100 CE, probably under the patronage of the Satavahana
dynasty (230 BCE c. 220 CE) in the canyons of the Waghora River. The caves 9, 10, 12 and 15A were
constructed during this period.[5] Murals preserved from this time belong to the oldest monuments of
painted art in India.
[edit]Second period
A second group of caves was created at a later date, the 5th and 6th centuries AD, during the Gupta
and post Gupta periods. These caves were excavated during the supremacy of the Vakatakas and
Guptas. According to inscriptions, Varahadeva, the minister of the Vakataka king, Harishena (c. AD
475 500), dedicated Cave 16 to the Buddhist sangha while Cave 17 was the gift of the prince, a
feudatory. An inscription records that the Buddha image in Cave 4 was the

Analysis Of Fun Home By Alison Bechdel
Alison Bechdel, a literary and queer theorist herself who would go on to coin the Bechdel test, grew
up in close proximity to theory. In a family of academics, with her teacher father and former actress
mother, Bechdel was always surrounded by literature, so when it comes to self discovery of her
sexuality, it s no surprise that she turns to the literary realm, from Rubyfruit Jungle to the Oxford
English Dictionary, to understand herself. Bechdel s first graphic memoir, Fun Home, examines her
upbringing in a funeral home with her cold mother and her closeted bisexual father, who commits
suicide soon after Bechdel leaves for college. It engages in frequent literary and theory illusions,
beginning from the mention of Icarian Games on the very first page. While Bechdel s work seems like
it could be easily situated in structuralist theory, the work easily lends itself to a multiplicity of
meanings, an inherent feature of deconstruction work that allows readers to veer into feminist theory,
queer theory, or even Marxist theory. Just as Bechdel rewrites and reframes the events of her formative
years multiple times throughout the novel, the novel particularly lends itself to structuralist,
deconstruction, queer, and feminist theory, which all lead to particularly illuminating readings that
compliment each other. Fun Home perhaps most glaringly fits into the literary theory of structuralism,
and its application becomes easy as soon Bechdel introduces the readers to her father s constant
rebuilding of their home on page 5. One of structuralism s main tenants is understanding the world as
discursively constructed, meaning that there is no inherent essence or nature that informs one s
production, whether that be behavior or presentation or style, and that one then understands the world
through binary opposition and discourse (Parker 77 81). Bechdel s father produces a perfected period
piece facade for the Bechdel home, which simultaneously indulged his obsessive love for home decor,
an interest usually only allowed for homosexual men, while providing the facade of an idealized
happy homeplace. Analyzing the home s surface structure would prove unfruitful for conveying any of
the internalized conflict of the family, and

The Importance Of Technology In The Library
Library has been a great source for information literacy. Being a cheap source and having books to
read library were popular years ago and were one of the most used sources for education. Library had
played huge role in promoting information literacy but, with the advancement in technology people
are now open to a lot sources and on this run libraries were seem to be neglected due to the lack of
updated information in the library. Libraries have gone through some necessary changes that have
helped updating information available there.
Technology is developing day by day. There is not a single question that Google does not have. We
can find answers to each and every question in Google. But due to the limited space in library there
are situations where we cannot find a book that is relevant with our topic. For instance, I wanted to
know about current political situation in United States but the library has books only about the
political history of United States then there is no use of reading the book. I would rather prefer going
to the internet and searching about the political history in United States. This shows using technology
can most of the time be beneficial and saves a lot of time. Closely looking the pros of using technical
sources library has also started using computer as a part of library. This change that the library has
bought has been beneficial to a lot of people as they can access to whichever source they want either

Multiculturalism In American Schools
As discussed in our lecture, when we debated the various positions that Arthur Schlesinger took on in
terms of teaching multiculturalism in American schools. He was not wholly against the teaching of
multiculturalism, however, he did not advocate for teaching multiculturalism at a young age, when
children are sensitive to learning about the identity of themselves and others. He believes that every
culture has their own history and their own historical perspective, but he believes that in American
society, there is only one way to teach multiculturalism as to make sure that Americans stay unified,
and children understand their roles as Americans. Of course, by other scholars, this perspective was to
be disputed. By teaching American history through one historical perspective, it can leave out and
sugar coat many crucial details about other historical perspectives and overlook the details of struggles
of other persons involved and their contribution to American history.

The Conference s County Ethnic Breakdown
Figure 12 shows the conference s county ethnic breakdown. These figures contain only the counties
that are in the Northwest Texas Annual Conference area. By excluding state level data in favor of
county level data, Figure 12 creates a closer relationship to the actual conference totals. However, the
area population does not reflect the demographics of its conference membership.
Figure 13 Conference s Actual Ethnic Breakdown
As you can see by comparing the two figures, the Northwest Texas AC s demographics do not
correlate to the geographic area. Northwest Texas contains a large concentration of African American.
Please note that the conference members may self identity on UMC data forms differently than US
census data. The annual conference fails to capture the Asian and most of the African American
population.

The Northwest Texas conference averages 56% females to 44% males. By breaking the conference
churches into attendance sizes, a pattern emerges the percentage of males in a church increases as the
church size increases.

Simplifying Expressions
While working on this problem I learned a lot about basic properties of addition and multiplication,
such as distributive property, inverse property, commutative properties, etc. What s common about
these problems is the order in which we are going to do the steps. The first step will always be to
remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always be combining like
terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week which is dealing with
real numbers.
Here is the solution to the first problem:
2a(a 5)+ 4(a 5)
=2aa+2a( 5)+4a 4⋅5
=2a^2 10a+4a 20
=2a^2 6a 20
The steps used to simplify this equation are as follows:
First I remove all of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I still have parentheses in the equation, they are only there to emphasize the negative
numbers.
20.05(0.3m+35n) 0.8( 0.09n 22m) =0.05⋅0.3m+0.05⋅35n 0.8⋅( 0.09n) 0.8⋅( 22m)
The second step is to figure out the correct coefficients:
0.05⋅0.3m+0.05⋅35n 0.8⋅( 0.09n) 0.8⋅( 22m)=0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m
The final step is to find the like terms and then combine them to obtain the simplified form:
0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m=17.615m+1.822n
The expression is now fully simplified to 17.615m+1.822n
In all three problems in this problem set, I learned how to simplify algebraic expressions using
distributive property and commutative property. In the second problem I used the inverse property of
addition. I noticed that the third problem was different from the first and second problems, in that in
the third problem there were no integer numbers. This whole section is about real numbers so this

Impact of a Deaf Child on Families
Impact of a Deaf Child on Families
A bird calls and the phone rings. Yet the girl makes no move to listen to one or to answer the other. A
baby s cry goes ignored and the tea kettle on the stove continues to whistle. Most, but not all cases of
childhood deafness and hearing impairment are diagnosed between the ages of 18 months and 3 years
old (Mapp 50). Sometimes called the invisible handicap, hearing loss explains why sign language is
the third most used language in the United States (Jones 54). While recognition of sight problems or
physical impairments may be triggered by spotting eye glasses or a wheelchair, deafness must be

on husbands as they are trying to reassure their wives that everything will be fine while privately
attempting to deal with their own deep and emotional grief (Luterman et al. 7). The separate roles each
parent takes on complement each other by providing unique skills for their child.
One of the most emotional taxing yet gratifying parts of raising a deaf child is that the mother is
typically the one member of the family most capable of communicating with the deaf child. She
becomes not only a mother, but an educator, social guidance counselor, communication specialist,
interpreter, and audiologist consultant (Mapp 15). The girl s mother went to the school district when
the girl entered high school hoping sign language classes were available as a precaution in case her
half deaf child continued to lose her hearing. They refused to even consider letting sign language
qualify for her foreign language requirement. Another recurring theme in the challenges faced by
parents is the abundance of ignorance in the faculty of school systems themselves. One frustrated
parent wrote said about mainstreaming her deaf child into a hearing school, ...the teacher sometimes

Analysis Of Magnolia By Paul Thomas Anderson
Magnolia directed and written by Paul Thomas Anderson is a truly memorable film which digs deep
down to the bone on how harsh life is sometimes. As the film unfolded the ideas of forgiveness, death,
chance, and destiny all interconnects and create the story that is Magnolia. One notable theme
throughout the movie is the relationship with parents. This really hit home with me because
personally, I feel like parents really shape and mold a child with their own actions and personalities.
This could be good for the child, but could lead to a life filled with pain and loneliness. In Magnolia it
becomes aware that there are a downfall of fathers. Earl Partridge, Jimmy Gator, and Rick Spector all
fathers who have placed a burden on their children.
Earl Partridge a man on his deathbed is taking his final breaths, only to be slowly eaten away from the
guilt left of his conscience. The reason being, Earl abandoned his wife, cheated on her and left his son
to take care of her when she had cancer. This act Earl committed could never be forgotten and his son,
Frank is deeply affected by it. Growing up without the proper love and only knowing the pain he
masks his emotional stress by having casual sex with women. By doing this in Frank s mind it
compensates for the lack of parental love he didn t have in his childhood. While he could not control
his childhood, Frank changes that and takes control of everything even women. As a result the seminar

Complications Of Functional Perception Patterns In The...
Introduction
The ability to generate category related representations for a limitless collection of visual contents is a
vital function of human brain (Chao et al., 1999). It is demonstrated that widely distributed neural
networks are engaged in the distinction of semantic categories, such as the ventral temporal cortex,
which plays a significant role in face and object recognition (Chao et al., 1999; Haxby et al., 2000;
Haxby et al., 2001; O toole et al., 2005). Accumulating evidence has suggested that differential neural
response patterns in human brain are closely associated with specific categories of visual stimuli
(Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; Kanwisher et al., 1997). However, it remains unclear how the

Using multi voxel pattern analysis (MVPA), they found that the neural representations of face and
objects can be discriminated not only by activation patterns within the specific cortical regions that
maximally respond to one category, but can also be identified according to the patterns of nonmaximal
responses (Haxby et al., 2001), which provided us with novel insights into the neural mechanism
underlying the decoding of semantic categories.
While the MVPA method adopted in this study well characterized the features of the response patterns
associated with the semantic categories, it was computationally heavy. Also, it remained an open
question whether a simpler method univariate analysis will provide sufficient evidence indicating the
category specificity of the distributed neural representations in human brain. Therefore, in the current
study, I applied a straightforward univariate analysis on the original data of Haxby et al. s (2001)
experiment to further investigate the neural response patterns evoked by face and object stimuli. More
specifically, I examined whether the category related information was revealed by the patterns of
response across the whole brain space, and the activation in the functional localizer fusiform face area
resulted from face stimuli.

Internal And External Problems In The United States
Not only do the United states have to worry about internal nad external problems both Europe and
Muslims countries had to battle and do whatever they needed to expand territories. They had to face
internal and external conflicts and solve them. Although they both came from different regions and
different religious beliefs, they both cared enough for their people and their reign. In Europe, there
were three people who had to go through many different challenges. For example Elizabeth Tudor also

Summary OfAmerican Sonnet To My Past And Future Assassin
Societal Reluctance and Reflection
American Sonnet to my Past and Future Assassin by Terrance Hayes is a modern American sonnet
whose focus is a black man struggling to comprehend his place in society. The speaker of the poem
illustrates his dilemma through comparisons to the respected black musicians of the twentieth century
to whom he feels a deep connection to. The tone of the sonnet is one of contemplation, or even
uncertainty, as the speaker outlines his thoughts in reluctance, questioning both himself and his
audience. Befitting of the overall tone, the sonnet commences with uncertainty, plainly illustrated with
the language of the speaker s initial statement: I m not sure how to hold my face when I dance (1), for
he arranges his words to portray a feeling of vacillation. Immediately following this reflective
proclamation, the speaker poses three questions, all of which allude to the contemplative tone apparent
in the text. While these inquiries regard the subject of dance, the speaker also intends for them to be
metaphors for the uncertainty he, as a black man, has for his place in society. His questions are rapid
fire, almost probing the audience for answers that are seemingly nonexistent. As a result of the
rapidity, there is an absence of breaks for these questions to be answered, evincing the speaker s belief
that they, in fact, have no answers. These first four sentences are crucial in the sonnet s development,
as they kindle ruminations for both the speaker and the audience. Promptly thereafter, the narrator
compares his own hesitant nature to the eminent musician Jimi Hendrix, and how, I hear Jimi Hendrix
/Was also unsure in dance despite being beautiful /And especially attuned (5 7). Similar to the
preceding lines, reluctance cloaks the prose like a veil. Note how the line begins with I hear... The
narrator uses this as a prelude to the claim to emanate a feeling of uncertainty. Moreover, in his
dubiety, the speaker appears to treat the comparison as almost frivolous and trivial; ergo, the
connection itself upholds the poem s hesitant tone. Regardless, this remark can also be interpreted as
an analogy for society. Hendrix, despite his unequivocal beauty, had difficulty discerning his

The Network Marking Industry Is Successful
This is not your typical story of success. No, I am not going to give you some mumbo jumbo about
how everyone in the network marking industry is successful. However, I will tell you that, anyone in
network marketing can be successful. Not everyone who has attempted to succeed in network
marketing has done so. Do you know why? Not everyone has the drive, determination, patience and
confidence that it takes to make it in network marketing. I will tell you first and foremost, most
companies will ask you to make a list of all of your friends and family, and try to promote your
product to them first. This can give you the opportunity to test your sales skills. However, not all of
your friends and family will not see the value in what you have to offer. Why? It is not because you do
not have the skills to market your products and services to them. It is because the majority of your
friends and family tend to always assume the worst about new business ventures; especially network
marketing. Maybe they have tried it themselves and failed miserably. Instead of just admitting that
they did not have the above mentioned skills ( drive, determination, patience and confidence) to
survive in network marketing themselves, they would rather discourage you instead. Stay Positive I
am not trying to tell you that, talking to your friends and family is a terrible idea. I am only stating the
obvious. If you have already tried this approach than you know what I mean. I am saying,

Summary Of Father And Son Relationships In Henry IV Part 1
While almost any man can father a child, there is so much more importance of the father figure in a
child s lifetime. Fathers that are willing to be actively involved have a great importance in their sons
lives. They are able to add to their sons knowledge of manhood. Shakespeare made that certain in his
writing Henry IV, Part 1 . This play goes into depth of father son relationships between two characters;
Hotspur and Prince Hal. These two characters both posed fathers that had the capability of affecting
their life choices and not always for the right reasons. The two men had two father figures to look up
to. Falstaff, was an old drunk who revolved his life around partying and stealing. Henry IV believed
that Prince Hal was simply sent to him as a punishment. The two together both made Prince Hal the
man he was. Hotspur had the two conniving father figures; Thomas and Henry Percy. Their overall
plan was just to make Hotspur s life and living hell. Father and son relationships have the capability to
influence one s relationships with others and the choices made in their futures and that is exactly what
these men did. Henry IV Part one tells a story about Prince Hal, a heir to the british throne and his
evolution from wild child to an independent leader. However, Prince Hal stated this whole wild child
movement was just for show. He believes that acting like an immature young adult and then having a
big change will make the people enjoy his as a leader even more.

American Art Collection At The Fred Jones Jr. Museum Of Art
As I explored the James T. Bialac Native American Art Collection at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of
Art, I came across two paintings that really stood out to me because of their relevance to what we have
been learning in class. In muted tones of blue and yellow, Harry Oosahwee s (Cherokee) One Fall
Morning depicts a Cherokee family in a barren rural landscape; animals and plants dot the landscape,
and a small wooden house sits on the far right of the painting accompanied by a father, mother, and
child to the left. Oosahwee painted this acrylic on paper painting in 1980; although the image of this
photo appears old, due to the architecture and clothing, there is one clue that brings the painting to the
20th century the Chuck Taylor s on the mother s feet. Without the presence of the shoes, this painting
could appear to be from any era, as the Cherokee family is performing traditional activities that have
been passed down generation to generation. A father in denim overalls and a wide brim hat sits on a
tree stump, carving a piece of wood, while a young child looks up at him enthralled in what the father
is doing or saying. To the left of the father and child is the mother standing above a churn; wearing a
traditional smock and being watched by the family dog as she prepares kanuchi. Aside from the dog,
there are also a few chickens pecking at the ground to the left of the mother, birds in the sky, and a cat
near the bottom right observing everything going on. I think the

By making the bubbles in the milk, the capacity increases and the feelings become clearer. The result
of the use of milk froth is a strong and sparkling coffee with an intense flavor.
Benefits of Milk Frother
There are few advantages of milk frothers. The most obvious is its size. They are usually about thirty
centimeters long so they can be stored anywhere in the kitchen. That is very important because many
do not have kitchens as spacious or enough storage place.
Because milk frothers are usually made of plastic, they are very light. That means that they are
comfortable to use. Also, some foam models come with a glass of beakers. In that case, your only job
is to press the button to activate it.
Frothers are easy to use. Typically, you have the on/off button and the button to adjust the speed of the
skimmers. That is very convenient because you can use the frother at the time you bought it without
first reading the instructions or seeing online tutorials.
Milk frothers are significantly removed and then regular coffee makers. The skimmers are silent when
they are in operation, so you should not worry about the noise.

Nietzsche s Essay On The Genealogy Of Morals
The Genealogy of Morals
Friedrich Nietzsche, born in 1844, was a German philosopher, cultural critic, poet, and Latin and
Greek scholar who has greatly influenced Western philosophy and modern intellectual history. He was
well known for his writings because of their attacks on society. Nietzsche s writings have influenced
many authors and philosophers.
The Genealogy of Morals consists of a preface and three essays interrelated. These essays are used to
get Nietzsche s point across that morality in not all genetic, but that society plays a big part in one s
moral code. In his writings, he uses examples that fit each attack on society.

Nietzsche defines guilt and punishment as a form of a debt owed and a way of securing debt. The rise
of slave morality gave these moral concepts present meaning. However, bad conscience is our
tendency to see ourselves as sinners which originates from the development of society to inhibit our
animal instincts for aggression and cruelty and to turn them inward upon ourselves. If humans did not
have a conscience, they would do whatever they want to without thinking.
The concept of guilt is related to the concept of debt. If an autonomous individual inflicts pain on
another individual as result of anger, they will feel that they would owe the individual for the pain
they caused. (debt) The individual might choose form of punishment that the autonomous individual
must endure. Nietzsche states that punishment is just a way to secure payment.
In his third essay, What do ascetic ideals mean? Nietzsche Brings to light the meaning of ascetic
ideals. He explains the meaning through three different perspectives, the artist, philosopher, and the
priest. From the artist s perspective, the ideal means nothing or too many. Nietzsche selects Richard
Wagner a German composer as example. Artist s always require some ideology to motivate
themselves. Therefore, we should look to philosophers if we are to get closer to finding out the
meaning of ascetic

a. One way that the Internet reduces some of the common communication problems that couples
experience in face to face conversations is by confirming with other people whether the behavior is

The Effects Of Climate Change On Earth
In another matter, this is not the first time that climate change has affected the planet in the past there
were many problems to the earth millions of years ago. There were five major ice ages from the
longest and first scientists believe occurred was two point four to two point one billion years ago
during the early Proterozoic Eon there was an ice age formed and it was the Huronian. The second ice
age was the cryogenian and it has been known that it produced a snowball earth in which permanent
sea ice extended to or very near the earth s equator; this period occurred from eight hundred and fifty
to six hundred and thirty million years ago. The third ice age that occurred was the Andean Saharan it

Scientists believe the possible causes of the medieval warm period were increase in solar activity,
decrease volcanic activity, and change to ocean circulation. After the medieval ended what followed
was the little ice age; the little ice age is a period between the thirteen hundreds to the eighteen
seventies. During this time Europe and North America were subjected to a much colder winters than
during the 20th century. Scientists believe the cause of this period was cyclical lows in solar radiation,
heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in earth s orbit, and axial tilt,
inherent variability in global climate and decrease in the human population these just the few reasons
why the little ice age was formed.
Climate change has caused many problems to humans and ironically the cause of it are humans them
selves. One of the major problems that climate changed has caused is food crisis; hotter temperatures
will severely diminish the world s ability to grow crops and feed humanity and other animals. The
effects of major heat waves recorded in the past were very excruciating like the one in Western Europe
during the summer of 2003 which hunted the crop yield deeply. Also in 2003 Italy was affected by a

Lack Of Rule Of Law Enforcement Essay
There is systemic corruption in Latin America. Corruption is rooted in the psyche of the South
American population, which affects the length of their democratic processes, making it easier and
shorter to bribe rather than commit to broken processes. Moreover, corruption affects the highest
levels of government. In order to face this problem, Latin America has made significant progress in
combating poverty and inequality. The economic development of states in Latin America allows them
to benefit from the international trade but it is not enough to maintain economic stability within states.
Deviant globalization creates an opportunity for transnational criminal organizations to benefit from
different activities like drug trafficking, human trafficking. The Western Hemisphere presents different
problems unlike other regions of the world. Mainly Latin America is affected by problems of
corruption and drug trafficking. Weak states are the biggest challenge in Western Hemisphere, because
corruption in Latin America is one of the factor that creates lack of rule of law. In addition, a weak
economy and absence of adequate law enforcement creates a safe haven for transnational criminal
organization. Moreover, the region presents serious problems in the quality of democracy regarding
human rights, as well as illegal immigration. Globalization both affects weak states positively and
negatively. To respond to this challenge, states must cooperate to economically

Masculinity in the Works of Herman Melville
Herman Melville s novels, with good reason, can be called masculine. Moby Dick may, also with
good reason, be called a man s book and that Melville s seafaring episode suggests a patriarchal, anti
feminine approach that adheres to the nineteenth century separation of genders. Value for masculinity
in the nineteenth century America may have come from certain expected roles males were expected to
fit in; I argue that its value comes from examining it not alone, but in relation to and in concomitance
with femininity. As Richard H. Brodhead put it, Moby Dick is so outrageously masculine that we
scarcely allow ourselves to do justice to the full scope of masculinism (Brodhead 9). I concur with
Brodhead in that remark, and that Melville s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than conforming to aged, socially constructed masculine roles, Melville is challenging them by
concealing feminine characteristics in his most manly concepts; he is trying to take a man born in once
independent Man, and, in this novel, now [unman] Man (M D 391). [S]mall erections may be finished
by their first architects, Ishmael reflects to himself about the Cathedral of Cologne, but grand ones,
true ones, ever leave the copestone to posterity. God keep me from completing anything (M D 125).
Melville uses ancient architecture and constructions as phallic metaphors to imply that they must
remain incomplete if they are to remembered as grand and true . A chapter in which gender sentiments
are comically muddled is the chapter known as The Tail , where Melville takes part in disassembling,
at the same time celebrating, this obviously phallic symbol and uses careful and also obvious language
to stress its feminine, as well as masculine, qualities. In the tail the confluent measureless force of the
whole whale seems concentrated to a point (M D 294), Melville describes what superficially sound as
only be phallic and masculine qualities. However, Melville does not allow the tail to be easily written
off as overtly masculine. The tail s amazing strength does not cripple the graceful flexion of its
motions ; rather it

The Book Shane, By Jack Gow
Honorable and Courageous Manhood
The theme in the book Shane, by Jack Schaefer, portrays that true manhood consists not of bravado or
status, but of character, honor, and loyalty. The main character is a man named Shane, who rides into a
small valley mysteriously at the beginning of the book and takes a position as the aid of a farmer, Joe
Starett. When Shane arrives, Joe and the other farmers of the valley are struggling, while the rancher
Fletcher is the highest valley authority. The townspeople and Bob, Joe s son, struggle to discover what
make a man honorable and manly. They hold Fletcher and his cowboys as authorities, manly men in a
culture that admires this, because of the glamour of their profession. Fletcher s confidence and
bravado, as well as his profession and position, appear to the townspeople to be the epitome of
manhood. Bob falls into this easy way of thinking as well; he says that before Shane came into his life
his highest aspiration was to become like his father, but his ambition was to first be a cowboy. Bob
visualizes himself riding through the country: rough, strong, free, and well liked. After Shane arrives,
Bob starts thinking about true manhood, comparing his father, Shane, Fletcher, and the cowboys. He
realizes that manhood is not being like Fletcher, with shows of bravado designed to insult others, but
instead is standing up for your family and principles when necessary. Bob also learns that manhood
has to do a great deal with character, finding

Laws And Rules In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Imagine living in a society where you have no control over your own life. In the book Anthem written
by Ayn Rand, the characters are told how to live by the government. They have no control over their
life, and they must follow the laws and rules. If any person breaks these laws and rules, they will be
punished severely. There are no exceptions, no warnings, one strike and they re done. In Anthem the
government has enforced many rules. A few of the rules may include the we law, the no affection law
and another law is how one must never write or talk about the Unmentionable Times. The government
allows no human to live an uncontrolled life and they deserve to live their own lives. In this book the
council, which is another way of saying the government, has a law known as the we law. This law
states that no human can refer to themselves as one person. Each and every person must call themselfs
we and considering the circumstances, our as if they are multiple people. The council feels as if they
must have this rule because if these humans were to go around talking as if they are one person, it
would be unequal. Which is a huge law, they must all be equal, no exceptions. One character
acknowledges, We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One,
indivisible and forever. (Rand 19). This quote is a strong quote ... Show more content on

The characters have no right to think about woman and/or the other way around. Once again, if they
disobey this law they will have very serious consequences. One character implies, For men are
forbidden to take notice of woman, and woman are forbidden to take notice of men. (Rand 38). This
quote explains how woman cannot think of men and men cannot think of woman. Which all comes
back to the issue in which, the government allows no human to control themselves. So this is another
example of how the government controls many lives that are not their

Growing-Up Explored in Banana Yoshimoto’s Kitchen Essay
Growing Up Explored in Banana Yoshimoto s Kitchen
The first time I read Kitchen, I knew I was experiencing something very special. Not since my initial
reading of Catcher in the Rye have I witnessed such a perceptive look at the joys and pains of growing
up. These coming of age novels capture our attention with plots that, while twisting and turning in
creative, off beat ways, remain believable. The writers of these novels tell us their stories with a subtle
style more exciting than that of textbooks and assigned reading, a style not unlike a good one sided
conversation. Finally, within this great style of writing, the authors infuse honest insights, often
humorous and sometimes poignant, which do not carry a lecturing or ... Show more content on

Guess what else she s a man. He could barely contain his amusement. This was too much. I just stared
at him in wide eyed silence. I expected any second he would say, Just kidding. Those tapered fingers,
those mannerisms, the way she carried herself... I held my breath remembering that beautiful face; he,
on the other hand, was enjoying this (p. 13).
Later, when Mikage recounts the time Eriko shared with her the importance of a particular pineapple
plant, eyebrows may be raised as the words In this world, tonight, only the pineapple and I understand
each other are read. (p. 81) As strange as they sound out of context now, these words are actually
moving when you have already learned the meaning Eriko placed on the plant. Yoshimoto arranges
unique scenarios such as these in expressive ways that, in the hands of less talented authors, would
otherwise appear simply ridiculous. She touches young adults because she is able to bring realism to
these strange stories.
Once the reader has accepted her unique storyline, he is drawn to her subtle writing style. There is no
doubt that Yoshimoto is proficient at setting the scene. Chilled looking people walking along the
riverside, the snow beginning, faintly, to pile up on the roofs of cars, the bare trees shaking their heads
left and right, dry leaves tossing in the wind (p. 103). At times, the Japanese life she describes seems
familiar. What is more important in a coming of age

Puritan Origins Of The American Wilderness Movement Summary
Many people that go out and enjoy the wilderness or the outdoors head to those places because they
need to get away from the world and relax. The opportunity you have to go out and enjoy these
beautiful areas all started with the beginning of this country by many men and their ideas and views of
the outdoors. I will conduct a rhetorical analysis of J. Baird Callicott and Priscilla Solis Ybarra s
article, The Puritan Origins of the American Wilderness Movement, and critique there use of rhetorical
appeals in order to show that their article was written successfully. J. Baird Callicott and Priscilla Solis
Ybarra are both professors at the University of North Texas and the situation they are explaining is
that the wilderness was once seen as a wild place filled with beasts that couldn t be tamed. They
include the view points and work of great foresters like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Henry David Thoreau, a lifelong contrarian who regularly ridiculed the conventional
attitudes and values of his New England contemporaries (Calliscott, Ybarra). The people that did not
care what people thought about their ideas were the ones that made this country a beautiful place. The
character that Calliscott and Ybarra come off as to me is people who care about the history of this
country and its wilderness. They include positive examples to help get there point across like, It was
their God ordained destiny to transform the dismal American wilderness into an earthly paradise,
governed according to the Word of God (Calliscott, Ybarra). The American wilderness was compared
to a paradise and should be governed to the Word of God has a positive and biblical meaning because
many people practice their religion as they please and comparing the wilderness to the Word of God is

Romanticism In Romantic Poetry
Romantic Poetry Paper
As many of us know, the Romanticism period happen during the 1800 s hundreds and finished in the
mid 1850 s. This movement is an artistic enlightenment that happen throughout Europe. The people
who took an active big role during this movement is John Keats, Percy Shelley, William Wordsworth
and many more. Numerous of their poteries talks about nature, beauty, love, death etc. However, the
major poems that really stood out to me from these three substantial poets is; She Dwelt Among the
Untrodden Ways by William Wordsworth that signifies the beauties of imagination and death. Then,
ON THE GRASSHOPPER AND CRICKET by John Keats who elaborates the happiness of nature.
Finally, Mutability by Percy Shelley that symbolises the bodies and spirits. Therefore, these poems are
very meaningful and may apply to your everyday life.
To begin with, She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways is about a young lady being admired
comparing her beauty to nature. William Wordsworth says She dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the springs of Dove, . Wordsworth is trying to describe how gentle and innocent she is like
nature is. Also Wordsworth adds A violet by a mossy stone Half hidden from the eye! this quote I
believe show people tend to not notice her that much but in his eyes she is still very beautiful. Later on
in his poetry the young lady is identified as Lucy who may possibly be apart of his imagination that
soon dies in the end. Wordsworth states She

Effects Of Low Level Disruption On The Classroom
Findings from a recent Ofsted report have shown that low level disruption in the classroom is causing
pupils to potentially lose up to one hour of learning each day, and that this may have a detrimental
impact on their life chances (Ofsted, 2014). Difficulties managing behavior is a commonly reported
source of stress and burnout among teachers, and is resulting in a substantial number leaving the
profession within 5 years (Ford et al, 2012). Disruptive behaviour is not only stressful for teachers, but
it can be unsettling for pupils, can hinder pupils enjoyment of school and can prevent pupils from
fulfilling their potential (Gorard, 2010). Although there has never been a time when all pupils behaved
well, all of the time (Viser, 2005), it is important that teachers have a good understanding of the
challenges they may face in the classroom, and are equipped with effective strategies to help them
manage classroom behaviour. After all, effective behaviour management and discipline in schools is a
crucial to ensuring academic success and a positive and safe learning environment (Luisellia et al,
2005).
In response to ongoing concern regarding behaviour management a wealth of research being carried
out and official documentation has been published, such as the Elton Report (DES, 1989) and the
Steer Report (DfES, 2005), on what works well in schools. Both reports hightlight that teachers were
most affected by the impact of relatively minor, but persistent, low level

Sheryl the CSR was in the back probably preparing for the day but once she was done she greeted me
and asked what I wanted. I replied with: Can I have a chocolate chip cookie Sheryl said sure and
began to reach for my requested cookie but before she could I interrupted her asking if I could get my
initials in icing on my cookie. I explained that it was by birthday (which is partially true because my
birthday falls on Nov 24 Sheryl paused for a moment but then without hesitation replied with Alright
and went into the back to get some icing. It wasn t very long before Sheryl was back and you could
tell that Sheryl was good at her job though it may not seem like much ,she really took the time to
make my initials big and without any mistakes. Sheryl tried to put the cookie into a bag without
getting the icing messed up but I told her that it was fine without one. I paid for my cookie and before
I left I asked her for her name and she gave it to me with a smile and thanked me for my purchase.

  • 2. Innovation In Ww1 Tanks Jack Elmes How did tank innovation impact warfare and the soldiers who fought in the trenches during World War One? World War One was known as the First World War or The Great War. It began on the 28th of July 1914 and lasted until the 11th of November 1918. Thirty countries were involved in the war. Over nine million soldiers died and twenty one million were wounded. Undeniably World War One was one of the biggest and most devastating wars in history. Trench warfare took those who signed up by complete surprise. A war that was intended to be all about movement became stagnant. Soldiers were very much stuck in the trenches and experienced horrendous conditions. As a result the use of terrifying new technologies not used before were created in a response to the conditions of trench warfare. This resulted in trench warfare being changed forever due to the introduction of the tank in 1915. It has been stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tank was the first armored machine to be used. It was adapted from tractors and its goal was to break through the heavily fortified trenches and offer protection to the troops from any artillery fire. British engineering was the origin of the first WW1 Landship , which became the tank as we now know it. Tanks were a very important part of WW1 as they increased mobility on the front line and broke the stalemate of trench warfare. The first tank ever used in military conflict was at the battle of Flers Courcelette in September 1916. The first prototype tank came out in 1915 by the British it was called little Willie, weighed 14 tons and could only travel at two miles per hour. This tank was not used in warfare. Big Bertha was the most famous tank it had a 48 ton gun capable of firing a shell over 9 miles. It took 200 men several hours to assemble the gun. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Middle Phase Of Learning In Queensland schools, the Middle Phase of Learning is a distinct period for students in the Year 4 to Year 9 cohorts. It is divided into two phases. The onset of the Middle Phase of Learning is a time of transition, many learners are keen to discover and investigate an extensive range of learning experiences. However, some learners begin to lose interest and progress in learning may diminish. The subsequent phase for learners, is filled with challenges. Physical, emotional, intellectual and social issues can impact upon students learning. For learners to be prepared for the senior phase of learning, student s curiosity and enthusiasm must be nurtured and further opportunities provided to enable learners to gain knowledge and skills if progress slows. (http://education.qld.gov.au/etrf/pdf/midaction03.pdf) During this phase, learners are shifting from concrete to abstract thinking and have emergent capacity for higher order analysis and reflection. They are also moving towards more rational decision making and an improved understanding of the consequences of behaviour. Middle Phase learners have an increasing interest in ethical and moral enquiries and exploring real world social issues. For many students, the transition from primary to secondary school can be stimulating and stress free, while others feel fearful and hesitant as they have a powerful need to belong and accepted by their peers. Subsequently, Middle Phase learners strive to be independent, but while outwardly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Flowers For Algernon Persuasive Essay Flowers for Algernon Persuasive Essay Before the operation, Charlie Gordon, from Flowers for Algernon, by Daniel Keyes, is happy. He may have a simple, pitiful existence, but he thinks his friends like him, and enjoys being with them and Miss Kinnian at the Learning Center for Slow Adults. However, Charlie wants to be smart, the one dark cloud in his sunny sky of life. Because of this, Charlie volunteers for an operation to triple his IQ of 68. With a high IQ comes awareness of the world around him, so Charlie suddenly becomes conscious of his previously pitiful existence which leads to a slew of feelings such as embarrassment, shame, and superiority. Charlie thinks that becoming smart will make him happy and well liked, but the operation works the opposite effect. Charlie starts to look down on everyone, and cannot socialize with others because of his IQ. As a result, Charlie becomes almost depressed. His depression deepens when Charlie discovers that his intelligence will not be permanent. Soon, Charlie regresses to his former childlike mentality. Although at the end of the novel, Charlie does not find himself any worse off after the operation, the few months he spent smarter are not terribly enjoyable for him, and his changing mentality negatively impacts those he is close to, namely Miss Kinnian. Because the effects are not permanent, Charlie would be far better off without the operation. One reason Charlie wanted to be smart was so that he could make more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is an impressive accomplishment, because the team is typically dominated by upper classmen. • 6. The Rise Of Terrorism Since 2001, the American society as we know it has changed dramatically. The rise of terrorism on the homefront has caused us to change how the government interacts with its citizens. The rise of secrecy and the loss of privacy has come as a response to these actions and we see no end to it. September 11th, 2001, caused the government to step back from the idea of transparency and take a look at its own citizens as possible threats to national security. If one were to take a Bayesian inference following the events of 911, the governmental response could have been seen as inevitable. The national security of the hegemonic state of the world had become vulnerable, and a strong response was needed. Seemingly all aspects of our lives have been effected from the way we go about our day to day activities, to the way we travel. The idea of privacy was one of the first to come into question. When challenging the idea of terrorism, especially in the aspect of homegrown terrorism, the government made its spending and its agencies more secretive than they had been during the cold war. The 1974 Freedom of Information Act now seemed to be a distant memory, beyond secrecy in the agencies and spending there was now a secret geography to the US and international world. Now that the war on terrorism is an international crisis, more so than the war on terror we launched after 911, what the American government felt like it needed to do to protect our security seems like an over extension of our power and a threat to the values we hold as a free country. The launching of the new secretive side to the US government seems like a valid response to the events of 911, and other terrorist acts, but have taken an extreme toll on how we feel about big government and our ... • 7. The Diversity Of Multicultural Education According to (Beal Bolick, 2012), Each day s wave of current events reinforces our awareness that our globally interdependent world is a mélange of people of different colors, religions, languages, and customs (p. 55). Similar to the global world, classrooms across American today are beginning to look the same, raising awareness for teaching that is all inclusive. Social studies teachers today are facing increasing difficulties with creating curriculums that meet their state s mandated requirements and each individual learner, learning needs. A typical classroom will consist of students that may not speak English as a second language, a mixture of male and female students, and more important, children coming from several different backgrounds, having varying life experiences. Thus, the cultural differences resulted in a greater demand for today s social studies teacher to practice culturally relevant teaching by using multicultural teaching dimensions, so that all children can achieve. Multicultural education will be successful only when the teacher understands the meaning of multicultural education, take into account results from their assessments of the children is learning styles, and then make changes to their teaching methods if necessary, by using a wide range of strategies and teaching techniques, that encourage diversity and acceptance. Multicultural education resembles instructions conveyed through content integration with real life experiences, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This video focuses specifically on Jackson, Mississippi. This video takes a look at Lanier High School and some of the student s experiences and difficulties in this school due to poverty in this town. Jackson Mississippi is 70% black and Lanier High School is 100% black students. Everything started to go downhill for this community after integration occurred. Black students left their school and went to a more diverse school. But no one chose to come to Lanier High School or Jackson due to how run down the community and school was. Therefore the community only suffered. Manuel is a student at Lanier High School. He does not have a father figure and his mother is not in good condition due to her stroke, so he has to take care of her. He struggles in school with his grades and authority from the teachers. He plays on the basketball team but always fights with his coach because he is not used to male authority. He is kicked off of the team and ends up failing tenth grade. He then roams the streets with his buddies and his mom is very worried he ll end up in jail or even worse, death. He is a prime example of how poverty in his family and community affect him directly. • 9. Using R And R Statements Essay Adults in both videos did not use R and R statements because they did not describe and help children to understand what children were doing. First, a mother was complaining to her child crying and pulling her, carrying her to outside. The mother lost her temper and kept sending you Messages instead of I Messages. She blamed on her child for everything. She didn t think what the real problem was. She asked to her child, Why you do that? , but this why questions were not open ended questions. These questions were more coming from the adult frustration that she could not control over her child. She also called her daughter bad names and treated her child without dignity. The mother was just reacting the situation and made her more miserable. She is a really bad role model for her child. Both mother and caregivers are not effective and active communicators. Second, at naptime a boy named Joshua seemed like to be given hard time sleeping. The caregiver told Joshua what she wanted him to do. She said, You don t have to go to sleep, but you need to lay down and rest. I think if she stopped at this sentence, he might not scream. However, she added that playing was not the choice. That adding sentence made him really upset. When caregiver asked Joshua, why questions to him, she should let him calm down first. The caregiver placed Joshua s napping mat isolated from children as if he was timeout. She said, I am not coming back if you do... , and she basically told ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nonetheless, historians are in agreement that there were many factors contributing to the conflict between the Great powers, resulting in a large scale war to break out. The second industrialization also known as the Technological Revolution from 1870 1914 cultivated industrial societies to emerge and leading to new forms of states and of diplomatic and military alignments (Barzun). These military alignments were later to be known as The Great Powers of Europe. The Great Powers were divided into two alliances: The Triple Alliance between Germany, Italy Austria Hungry established in 1882, and The Triple Entente between Britain, Russia France established in 1907 (Tonge). There were three main rivalries between the powers: Germany France over the Alsace Lorraine territory (5,067 square miles of land that was ceded by France to Germany in 1871 after the Franco German War), Russia Austria over the Balkans peninsula in Southeast Europe (a desirable territory for its strategically vital geographic location surrounded by four seas: the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, the Adriatic and the Aegean, and situated at the crossroads of three major empires Ottoman, Russian and Austro Hungarian), and Britain Germany over naval and economic power. Analyze Regulations in Venture Capital 2.1 In this part, we will put up some typical regulations to analyze whether they are available or necessary. If possible, we may give some advices to develop these regulations. BASEL III Requirements and REPO Availability On Jan 1st, 2014, Basel III regulations show the effectiveness on banks with more than $250B in total consolidated assets or greater than $10B in foreign exposure. These large banks are important issuers of repurchase agreements, the capital investment vehicle for the overmuch funds in venture capital firms. Generally, the US government or a Federal Agency issue or guarantee collateral used in these transactions, and the agreements reset each day. In addition, the supply of this high quality collateral has reduced because of the asset purchase plan of the Federal Reserve. Totally, high quality collateralizes the availability of repo, low risk securities may diminish over the near term, resulting in a shift towards lower quality, higher risk collateral for longer terms. We might see the development of alternative interest bearing investment products as a result of this potential shortfall in repo inventory. This rupestral architecture scrupulously reproduces the forms and elements visible in wooden constructions. According to Spink (2006), the first phase was the construction of sanctuaries (known as chaytia grihas) built during the period 100 BCE to 100 CE, probably under the patronage of the Satavahana dynasty (230 BCE c. 220 CE) in the canyons of the Waghora River. The caves 9, 10, 12 and 15A were constructed during this period.[5] Murals preserved from this time belong to the oldest monuments of painted art in India. • 18. Analysis Of Fun Home By Alison Bechdel Alison Bechdel, a literary and queer theorist herself who would go on to coin the Bechdel test, grew up in close proximity to theory. In a family of academics, with her teacher father and former actress mother, Bechdel was always surrounded by literature, so when it comes to self discovery of her sexuality, it s no surprise that she turns to the literary realm, from Rubyfruit Jungle to the Oxford English Dictionary, to understand herself. Bechdel s first graphic memoir, Fun Home, examines her upbringing in a funeral home with her cold mother and her closeted bisexual father, who commits suicide soon after Bechdel leaves for college. It engages in frequent literary and theory illusions, beginning from the mention of Icarian Games on the very first page. While Bechdel s work seems like it could be easily situated in structuralist theory, the work easily lends itself to a multiplicity of meanings, an inherent feature of deconstruction work that allows readers to veer into feminist theory, queer theory, or even Marxist theory. Just as Bechdel rewrites and reframes the events of her formative years multiple times throughout the novel, the novel particularly lends itself to structuralist, deconstruction, queer, and feminist theory, which all lead to particularly illuminating readings that compliment each other. Fun Home perhaps most glaringly fits into the literary theory of structuralism, and its application becomes easy as soon Bechdel introduces the readers to her father s constant rebuilding of their home on page 5. One of structuralism s main tenants is understanding the world as discursively constructed, meaning that there is no inherent essence or nature that informs one s production, whether that be behavior or presentation or style, and that one then understands the world through binary opposition and discourse (Parker 77 81). Bechdel s father produces a perfected period piece facade for the Bechdel home, which simultaneously indulged his obsessive love for home decor, an interest usually only allowed for homosexual men, while providing the facade of an idealized happy homeplace. Analyzing the home s surface structure would prove unfruitful for conveying any of the internalized conflict of the family, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being a cheap source and having books to read library were popular years ago and were one of the most used sources for education. Library had played huge role in promoting information literacy but, with the advancement in technology people are now open to a lot sources and on this run libraries were seem to be neglected due to the lack of updated information in the library. Libraries have gone through some necessary changes that have helped updating information available there. Technology is developing day by day. There is not a single question that Google does not have. We can find answers to each and every question in Google. But due to the limited space in library there are situations where we cannot find a book that is relevant with our topic. For instance, I wanted to know about current political situation in United States but the library has books only about the political history of United States then there is no use of reading the book. I would rather prefer going to the internet and searching about the political history in United States. This shows using technology can most of the time be beneficial and saves a lot of time. Closely looking the pros of using technical sources library has also started using computer as a part of library. This change that the library has bought has been beneficial to a lot of people as they can access to whichever source they want either the book or the information off the ... • 20. Multiculturalism In American Schools As discussed in our lecture, when we debated the various positions that Arthur Schlesinger took on in terms of teaching multiculturalism in American schools. He was not wholly against the teaching of multiculturalism, however, he did not advocate for teaching multiculturalism at a young age, when children are sensitive to learning about the identity of themselves and others. He believes that every culture has their own history and their own historical perspective, but he believes that in American society, there is only one way to teach multiculturalism as to make sure that Americans stay unified, and children understand their roles as Americans. Of course, by other scholars, this perspective was to be disputed. By teaching American history through one historical perspective, it can leave out and sugar coat many crucial details about other historical perspectives and overlook the details of struggles of other persons involved and their contribution to American history. ... These figures contain only the counties that are in the Northwest Texas Annual Conference area. By excluding state level data in favor of county level data, Figure 12 creates a closer relationship to the actual conference totals. However, the area population does not reflect the demographics of its conference membership. Figure 13 Conference s Actual Ethnic Breakdown As you can see by comparing the two figures, the Northwest Texas AC s demographics do not correlate to the geographic area. The first step will always be to remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always be combining like terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week which is dealing with real numbers. As the film unfolded the ideas of forgiveness, death, chance, and destiny all interconnects and create the story that is Magnolia. One notable theme throughout the movie is the relationship with parents. This really hit home with me because personally, I feel like parents really shape and mold a child with their own actions and personalities. This could be good for the child, but could lead to a life filled with pain and loneliness. In Magnolia it becomes aware that there are a downfall of fathers. • 27. Complications Of Functional Perception Patterns In The... Introduction The ability to generate category related representations for a limitless collection of visual contents is a vital function of human brain (Chao et al., 1999). It is demonstrated that widely distributed neural networks are engaged in the distinction of semantic categories, such as the ventral temporal cortex, which plays a significant role in face and object recognition (Chao et al., 1999; Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; O toole et al., 2005). Accumulating evidence has suggested that differential neural response patterns in human brain are closely associated with specific categories of visual stimuli (Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; Kanwisher et al., 1997). However, it remains unclear how the functional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using multi voxel pattern analysis (MVPA), they found that the neural representations of face and objects can be discriminated not only by activation patterns within the specific cortical regions that maximally respond to one category, but can also be identified according to the patterns of nonmaximal responses (Haxby et al., 2001), which provided us with novel insights into the neural mechanism underlying the decoding of semantic categories. While the MVPA method adopted in this study well characterized the features of the response patterns associated with the semantic categories, it was computationally heavy. Also, it remained an open question whether a simpler method univariate analysis will provide sufficient evidence indicating the category specificity of the distributed neural representations in human brain. Therefore, in the current study, I applied a straightforward univariate analysis on the original data of Haxby et al. s (2001) experiment to further investigate the neural response patterns evoked by face and object stimuli. More specifically, I examined whether the category related information was revealed by the patterns of response across the whole brain space, and the activation in the functional localizer fusiform face area resulted from face stimuli. • 30. Summary OfAmerican Sonnet To My Past And Future Assassin Societal Reluctance and Reflection American Sonnet to my Past and Future Assassin by Terrance Hayes is a modern American sonnet whose focus is a black man struggling to comprehend his place in society. The speaker of the poem illustrates his dilemma through comparisons to the respected black musicians of the twentieth century to whom he feels a deep connection to. The tone of the sonnet is one of contemplation, or even uncertainty, as the speaker outlines his thoughts in reluctance, questioning both himself and his audience. Befitting of the overall tone, the sonnet commences with uncertainty, plainly illustrated with the language of the speaker s initial statement: I m not sure how to hold my face when I dance (1), for he arranges his words to portray a feeling of vacillation. Immediately following this reflective proclamation, the speaker poses three questions, all of which allude to the contemplative tone apparent in the text. While these inquiries regard the subject of dance, the speaker also intends for them to be metaphors for the uncertainty he, as a black man, has for his place in society. His questions are rapid fire, almost probing the audience for answers that are seemingly nonexistent. As a result of the rapidity, there is an absence of breaks for these questions to be answered, evincing the speaker s belief that they, in fact, have no answers. These first four sentences are crucial in the sonnet s development, as they kindle ruminations for both the speaker and the audience. Promptly thereafter, the narrator compares his own hesitant nature to the eminent musician Jimi Hendrix, and how, I hear Jimi Hendrix /Was also unsure in dance despite being beautiful /And especially attuned (5 7). Similar to the preceding lines, reluctance cloaks the prose like a veil. Note how the line begins with I hear... The narrator uses this as a prelude to the claim to emanate a feeling of uncertainty. Moreover, in his dubiety, the speaker appears to treat the comparison as almost frivolous and trivial; ergo, the connection itself upholds the poem s hesitant tone. Regardless, this remark can also be interpreted as an analogy for society. Hendrix, despite his unequivocal beauty, had difficulty discerning his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will tell you first and foremost, most companies will ask you to make a list of all of your friends and family, and try to promote your product to them first. Fathers that are willing to be actively involved have a great importance in their sons lives. They are able to add to their sons knowledge of manhood. Shakespeare made that certain in his writing Henry IV, Part 1 . This play goes into depth of father son relationships between two characters; Hotspur and Prince Hal. These two characters both posed fathers that had the capability of affecting their life choices and not always for the right reasons. The two men had two father figures to look up to. Falstaff, was an old drunk who revolved his life around partying and stealing. Henry IV believed that Prince Hal was simply sent to him as a punishment. • 39. Beatrice In William Faulkner s Much Ado About Nothing This was an interesting book and I also took the time to watch the movie as well which helped understand the characters, setting, and reasoning behind the writing a little better. The book opens up with Willie and Lymon headed to Pittsburgh with a truckload of water melon in the back. They arrive at Boy Willie sister s house and he is eager to get inside to see her, for it has been 3 years. While Boy Willie is only there to grabbed the piano, Lymon has other plans to stay in Pittsburgh. While in the house, Willie continues to yell for Beatrice while the entire family is still sleeping. I was kind of shocked to see how upset Beatrice was and how quickly she wanted them to leave once she saw him. What Beatrice doesn t know is that Wille plans ... A few days later, Willie and Lymon are still selling water melon and seem to be having some trouble. Boy Willie finally talks about how he has found someone who will purchase the piano, but is having a hard time getting the approval from Beatrice. Doaker then ends up telling them how the piano came to be theirs. During the slave era, this instrument was traded for two slaves. The book ends rather disappointing, Willie is now saying his goodbyes and this is when you realize that his determination to sell that piano didn t pay off. In Crossing the Swamp imagery is a technique used by the author to develop a relationship between the speaker and the swamp. After the medieval ended what followed was the little ice age; the little ice age is a period between the thirteen hundreds to the eighteen seventies. During this time Europe and North America were subjected to a much colder winters than during the 20th century. Scientists believe the cause of this period was cyclical lows in solar radiation, heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in earth s orbit, and axial tilt, inherent variability in global climate and decrease in the human population these just the few reasons why the little ice age was formed. Climate change has caused many problems to humans and ironically the cause of it are humans them selves. One of the major problems that climate changed has caused is food crisis; hotter temperatures will severely diminish the world s ability to grow crops and feed humanity and other animals. Corruption is rooted in the psyche of the South American population, which affects the length of their democratic processes, making it easier and shorter to bribe rather than commit to broken processes. Moreover, corruption affects the highest levels of government. In order to face this problem, Latin America has made significant progress in combating poverty and inequality. • 44. Masculinity in the Works of Herman Melville Herman Melville s novels, with good reason, can be called masculine. Moby Dick may, also with good reason, be called a man s book and that Melville s seafaring episode suggests a patriarchal, anti feminine approach that adheres to the nineteenth century separation of genders. Value for masculinity in the nineteenth century America may have come from certain expected roles males were expected to fit in; I argue that its value comes from examining it not alone, but in relation to and in concomitance with femininity. As Richard H. Brodhead put it, Moby Dick is so outrageously masculine that we scarcely allow ourselves to do justice to the full scope of masculinism (Brodhead 9). I concur with Brodhead in that remark, and that Melville s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than conforming to aged, socially constructed masculine roles, Melville is challenging them by concealing feminine characteristics in his most manly concepts; he is trying to take a man born in once independent Man, and, in this novel, now [unman] Man (M D 391). [S]mall erections may be finished by their first architects, Ishmael reflects to himself about the Cathedral of Cologne, but grand ones, true ones, ever leave the copestone to posterity. God keep me from completing anything (M D 125). Melville uses ancient architecture and constructions as phallic metaphors to imply that they must remain incomplete if they are to remembered as grand and true . A chapter in which gender sentiments are comically muddled is the chapter known as The Tail , where Melville takes part in disassembling, at the same time celebrating, this obviously phallic symbol and uses careful and also obvious language to stress its feminine, as well as masculine, qualities. In the tail the confluent measureless force of the whole whale seems concentrated to a point (M D 294), Melville describes what superficially sound as only be phallic and masculine qualities. However, Melville does not allow the tail to be easily written off as overtly masculine. The tail s amazing strength does not cripple the graceful flexion of its motions ; rather it ... • 45. The Book Shane, By Jack Gow Honorable and Courageous Manhood The theme in the book Shane, by Jack Schaefer, portrays that true manhood consists not of bravado or status, but of character, honor, and loyalty. The main character is a man named Shane, who rides into a small valley mysteriously at the beginning of the book and takes a position as the aid of a farmer, Joe Starett. When Shane arrives, Joe and the other farmers of the valley are struggling, while the rancher Fletcher is the highest valley authority. The townspeople and Bob, Joe s son, struggle to discover what make a man honorable and manly. They hold Fletcher and his cowboys as authorities, manly men in a culture that admires this, because of the glamour of their profession. Fletcher s confidence and bravado, as well as his profession and position, appear to the townspeople to be the epitome of manhood. Bob falls into this easy way of thinking as well; he says that before Shane came into his life his highest aspiration was to become like his father, but his ambition was to first be a cowboy. Bob visualizes himself riding through the country: rough, strong, free, and well liked. After Shane arrives, Bob starts thinking about true manhood, comparing his father, Shane, Fletcher, and the cowboys. He realizes that manhood is not being like Fletcher, with shows of bravado designed to insult others, but instead is standing up for your family and principles when necessary. Bob also learns that manhood has to do a great deal with character, finding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book Anthem written by Ayn Rand, the characters are told how to live by the government. They have no control over their life, and they must follow the laws and rules. If any person breaks these laws and rules, they will be punished severely. There are no exceptions, no warnings, one strike and they re done. In Anthem the government has enforced many rules. A few of the rules may include the we law, the no affection law and another law is how one must never write or talk about the Unmentionable Times. The government allows no human to live an uncontrolled life and they deserve to live their own lives. In this book the council, which is another way of saying the government, has a law known as the we law. This law states that no human can refer to themselves as one person. Each and every person must call themselfs we and considering the circumstances, our as if they are multiple people. The council feels as if they must have this rule because if these humans were to go around talking as if they are one person, it would be unequal. Which is a huge law, they must all be equal, no exceptions. One character acknowledges, We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever. Not since my initial reading of Catcher in the Rye have I witnessed such a perceptive look at the joys and pains of growing up. These coming of age novels capture our attention with plots that, while twisting and turning in creative, off beat ways, remain believable. The writers of these novels tell us their stories with a subtle style more exciting than that of textbooks and assigned reading, a style not unlike a good one sided conversation. Yoshimoto arranges unique scenarios such as these in expressive ways that, in the hands of less talented authors, would otherwise appear simply ridiculous. She touches young adults because she is able to bring realism to these strange stories. Once the reader has accepted her unique storyline, he is drawn to her subtle writing style. There is no doubt that Yoshimoto is proficient at setting the scene. Puritan Origins Of The American Wilderness Movement Summary Many people that go out and enjoy the wilderness or the outdoors head to those places because they need to get away from the world and relax. The opportunity you have to go out and enjoy these beautiful areas all started with the beginning of this country by many men and their ideas and views of the outdoors. I will conduct a rhetorical analysis of J. Baird Callicott and Priscilla Solis Ybarra s article, The Puritan Origins of the American Wilderness Movement, and critique there use of rhetorical appeals in order to show that their article was written successfully. This movement is an artistic enlightenment that happen throughout Europe. The people who took an active big role during this movement is John Keats, Percy Shelley, William Wordsworth and many more. Numerous of their poteries talks about nature, beauty, love, death etc. However, the major poems that really stood out to me from these three substantial poets is; She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways by William Wordsworth that signifies the beauties of imagination and death. Then, ON THE GRASSHOPPER AND CRICKET by John Keats who elaborates the happiness of nature. Finally, Mutability by Percy Shelley that symbolises the bodies and spirits. Therefore, these poems are very meaningful and may apply to your everyday life. To begin with, She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways is about a young lady being admired comparing her beauty to nature. William Wordsworth says She dwelt among the untrodden ways Beside the springs of Dove, . Wordsworth is trying to describe how gentle and innocent she is like nature is. Also Wordsworth adds A violet by a mossy stone Half hidden from the eye! this quote I believe show people tend to not notice her that much but in his eyes she is still very beautiful. • 50. Effects Of Low Level Disruption On The Classroom Findings from a recent Ofsted report have shown that low level disruption in the classroom is causing pupils to potentially lose up to one hour of learning each day, and that this may have a detrimental impact on their life chances (Ofsted, 2014). Difficulties managing behavior is a commonly reported source of stress and burnout among teachers, and is resulting in a substantial number leaving the profession within 5 years (Ford et al, 2012). Disruptive behaviour is not only stressful for teachers, but it can be unsettling for pupils, can hinder pupils enjoyment of school and can prevent pupils from fulfilling their potential (Gorard, 2010). Although there has never been a time when all pupils behaved well, all of the time (Viser, 2005), it is important that teachers have a good understanding of the challenges they may face in the classroom, and are equipped with effective strategies to help them manage classroom behaviour. After all, effective behaviour management and discipline in schools is a crucial to ensuring academic success and a positive and safe learning environment (Luisellia et al, 2005). In response to ongoing concern regarding behaviour management a wealth of research being carried out and official documentation has been published, such as the Elton Report (DES, 1989) and the Steer Report (DfES, 2005), on what works well in schools. Both reports hightlight that teachers were most affected by the impact of relatively minor, but persistent, low level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
