narration might seem childish, with all the exclamation point and capital letters to MAKE A POINT!!

1.1 Project Summary
The goal of this project is to help advance the education process of elementary school students. A lot
of schools have adapted to the use of interactive white boards (IWBs). And while these IWBs do a
good job bringing interactivity to the classroom, our product, the KiD 35 takes interactivity to the next
level! The KiD 35 is a state of the art interactive desk that every student will be able to use during
class. The teacher of the class controls the desk s software so that the students will be focused on the

The transition for teachers is also made quite easily by introductory demos provided with the desks
when they are delivered. If a teacher can operate a smart phone, they will be able to use the KiD 35.
1.3 Project Analysis
We believe IWB s were a very good step in interactive education. However, they have many flaws that
the KiD 35 will approve upon.
Traditional IWB s have need the child to get out of their seat in class to interact with the board, not
every student gets the some amount of interaction with the board. (Deubel, 2010)
Many teachers using the IWB s do not change the method in which they use the board. So if the
assignments seem repetitive, students lose interest.
In our target market, many traditional IWB s are too large for elementary school students to use. [See

Some children are just plain shy and do not want to come in front of the class to work in front of their

Here is how the KiD 35 counteracts the flaws of the IWB s:
The KiD 35 will be accessible by every child in the class; all of the students receive the same amount

Let s pretend that every Amendment is a cookie and the government is the kid. The kid takes out one

Biomolecules are present in every living organism. Larger biomolecules (macromolecules) consists of
proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. In layman s terms, proteins are long chains of amino acids that
have many functions such as, providing structural support and regulating many body processes. Lipids
are the scientific term used for fats. There are many different types of fats, but they all share one
common characteristic: They are not soluble in water. Lipids provide protection and insulation to

Growing up I was never one for exercising let only eating healthy. Bad habits don t die easily and
soon enough as I got older they took their toll on my body. As grew not only vertically but

at the problem by embracing the love for my naturally curves instead. Despite not only the public
looking down on hefty women but with the further disapproval of my family that the dissonance

obesity. It was only then that the cognitive dissonance made me begin to change my behavior.
Cognitive dissonance theory explains the contradictions we have with our behaviors and beliefs but it
can also be used to get us to have positive behaviors.
Cognitive dissonance theory was created by Leon Festinger and to better explain his theory he used
the topic of smoking. He showed how the contradiction is so clear and uncomfortable that something
has to give either the use of cigarettes of the belief that smoking will [harm] (Griffin et al., 2015,
p.201). Cognitive dissonance in a nutshell is a contradiction that causes us stress. It is when we act in
ways that go against what we believe and the strong presence we have on the matter the greater the
stress we have. Festinger (2015) describe it the distressing mental state one feels when one finds
themselves doing things that don t fit with what we believe or what the public approves of (p.200). An
extreme example of this is the high one gets from taking drugs but the disapproval the community
might have for it. With dissonance creating a stressful mental state we naturally want to avoid it by
either change our behaviors or our beliefs.
