Reflection Paper On Gym
The Dreaded Gym Class I don t really enjoy exercise, the sweating, being out of breath etc. Therefore,
I would never guess that a high school gym class would influence how I would be spending the rest of
my life. Well, it never changed my opinion on exercise, but it did help me discover a passion for
education and how people should be treated. I always assumed that I would be a vet, healing animals
and having customers come from far and wide. However, around the age of twelve, I realized you
have to be willing to put animals down in order to do that job. Shortly, I decided that I need to rethink
my career choice. The gym is unwelcoming as ever despite the school colors being flaunted on every
surface in the large room. A cold draft of air blows through as the smooth wooden doors swing open,
letting out the odor of the hard work that the basketball team put in that morning. Two of the four
walls are lined with yellow ish bleachers which doe eyed students fill. As I walk, my head hangs low
enough I can see my reflection on the floor mocking my shyness. Now I m truly noticing the assembly
of other students, each one looks as nervous as the next. This class is not the classic gym class. No
running miles or the panic of dodgeball, just a class to integrate students that have special needs with
their peers. In time, we are handed a packet that just came off the printer. Its warmth contrasting to the
overall temperature of the room. A lecture starts on confidentiality

He should have mercy upon him. The quote that proves he was captured says In 1755, a combined

Simon was held prisoner by the Seneca for 3 years, and at 15 he was forced to watch step farther being

Ethos Logos
THESIS: In Jonathan Edwards Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God vivid imagery is utilized
through ethos, logos, and pathos in an attemt to sway the acts of sinners to be morally correct.
Jonathan Edward, an American theolagian and central figure in the awakening during the 1800 s, was
mostly known for leadning the great awakning and his strong belief in hell: a very common topic
during his time. In his sermon sinners in the hands of an angry god, preached on July 8, 1741 in
Enfield, Connecticut. Edward emphasizes gods power and how easy it is for god to drop you in hell,
so therfore you should do everyhting you can to get on his good side.
Sinners in the hands of an angry god is a sermon written by Jonathan Edwards, an American
theolagian. The sermon was preached during the periode of great awakening when it was a time of
religiouse revival. The Great Awakening was essentially a spiritual awakening of different religious
groups in thethirteen colonies of America in the 18th century. While before the people were more
static and somberin their approach to religion, when the Awakening began they started to be more
emotional, so they could feel a greater connection to God. After the Glorious Revolution of ... Show

Using pathos connects with the reader or listener emotionally, sometimes making them feel that the
speech is being directed to them personally. The use of ethos is critical because in order for edwards
audience to take him seriously, they must respect him and agree that he is worth listening to. Finally,
the use of logos in edwards preach is important because facts are needed in order to make a valid
position and point. Opinion is great, but the readers and listeners need to know the facts in order to
listen and agree to edward ethically and emotionally. Ethos, logos, and pathos in edwards sermon are
all equally important and all work

Kinetic Energy Research Paper
Energy is what we need to accomplish physical actions such as walking, lifting a glass, heating water,
or powering a TV (nmsea). You use energy for everything. Energy can always be conserved; you
cannot create nor destroy energy. Something you can do with energy is you can transfer energy
between objects (livescience). Energy can come in different forms. The two most common different
forms are potential and kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, some examples of that
include downhill motion of a roller coaster cart, rolling a bowling ball, and the motion of a bike.
Kinetic energy has two other types of kinetic energy, thermal/heat energy and sound waves. Thermal
and heat energy is energy that comes from heat when particles ... Show more content on

the people doing the lab determine the energy that is being released (physics classroom). Another type
of calorimeter is the coffee cup calorimeter. They take a Styrofoam cup with a lid. The cup is half way

Great Expectations- Character Analysis Essay
Estella Havisham: Most readers are appalled at the cold hearted and cruel ways of Estella, but any
criticism directed at her is largely undeserved. She was simply raised in a controlled environment
where she was, in essence, brainwashed by Miss Havisham. Nonetheless, her demeanor might lead
one to suspect that she was a girl with a heart of ice. Estella is scornful from the moment she is
introduced, when she remarks on Pip s coarse hands and thick boots. However, her beauty soon
captivates Pip and she is instilled as the focal point of his thoughts for much of the remainder of the
novel. The fact that Pip becomes infatuated with her is also not Estella s fault. By no means is there
any evidence that she loved him. She does not flirt with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entire story is told through the eyes of an adult Pip, even though Pip is a small child during parts
of it. In his early years, Pip was strongly influenced by his guardians, Joe Gargery and his wife, Mrs.
Joe. Joe instills a sense of honesty, industry, and friendliness in Pip, while Mrs. Joe does a great deal
to contribute to his desires and ambitions through her constant emphasis on pomp and property. Pip is
generally good natured and thoughtful, and very imaginative. His false values, which are bolstered by
his love of Estella, decrease the amount of respect that he has for Joe. His alienation from Joe and Joe
s values builds through the second part of the novel, as Pip becomes selfish, greedy, and foolish.
During the period when his expectations are intact, his only morally positive act was to secretly help
Herbert Pocket into a good position. Upon discovering that Magwitch is his benefactor, a new phase
begins in Pip s moral evolution. At first, Pip no longer feels the same human compassion for
Magwitch that he did the first time he saw him out on the marshes. Gradually, Pip changes his
perception of Magwitch, unlearning what he has learned. Pip becomes concerned with the man, and
not the expectations that he could provide. When Jaggers presents the thought that there may be a way
for Pip to get his hands on Magwitch s property, the idea sounds hollow and utterly empty to Pip. Pip
learns about Estella s parentage through

Essay on Cicero
Cicero
Born Marcus Tullius Cicero in Arpinum (Italy) in 106 BC, he became a writer, statesman, orator and
philosopher. He loved politics and he wrote only when he could not participate in government. He had
a motto which he constantly strived for: to always be the best and over top the rest. Cicero had a high
political career in Rome for that time as winning elections were almost always exclusively controlled
by a group of wealthy aristocratic families.
Cicero s family was not one of them. Lacking this advantage there were essentially only two career
options open to him; a military career, he was no soldier and hated war, or a career in law. He prepared
for this by studying jurisprudence, rhetoric and philosophy. Then he began ... Show more content on

This trial included a propose of a law which was applied immediately. It stated that anyone who killed
a Roman citizen without trial would be striped of their citizenship and forced to exile. This began
attacks and riots on Cicero who fled the city. Cicero was now forbidden to live within 500 miles of
Italy. As now he could now participate in any politics he had time to study philosophy. But after a year
and a half the political conditions changed and he was allowed to return to Rome. He owed his return
to Rome to the Triumvirate for ending his exile and for not killing him. He paid them off over the next
eight years as a lawyer.
During this time he continued his studies in Philosophy. Between 55 51BC he created some of his
most famous pieces of writing; On the Orator, On the Republic, and On the Laws.
In 49BC the Triumvirate collapsed with the death of another Roman senator, Crassus. This raised the
question if Rome would become a republic or an empire or weather Pompey or Caesar would be
Emperor. Cicero believed it would make little difference as it would be a disaster in either case. But
Caesar won the civil war and became the first Roman emperor in 47BC and Cicero was forced to stay
out of politics, and again used this time to write the rest of his philosophical papers.
In the Ides of March in 44BC Caesar was murdered

Marxist Literary Criticism Essay
While literary critics do attempt to elaborate or develop ideas articulated by Karl Marx, it is important
and necessary to make a distinction between Marx s specific socio economic and political agenda and
the body of literary theory which emerged years later. Marxist literary criticism proceeds from the
fundamental philosophical assumption that consciousness can never be anything else than conscious
existence...Life is not determined by consciousness, but consciousness by life (Marx 568 9). Marxist
critics use this challenge to the notion of an innate, prefigured, individual human nature to reexamine
the nature of creative or literary authority.
Power seems to reside outside or beyond the bounds of humanity. Rather ... Show more content on

Though such institutions are capable of reaffirming certain statements of power, hegemony itself is, as
Raymond Williams states, a whole body of practices and expectations...our ordinary understanding of
the nature of man and his world...a sense of reality...a sense of absolute (4).
While Marxist critics must admit that they themselves are helpless to avoid the effects of hegemony,
the critical project of Marxist literary criticism remains steadfastly committed to the attempt to
identify and understand the mediating contexts in which the forces of hegemony exert pressure on a
text, its author, and its audience. These contexts manifest themselves within specific historical,
economic, political, cultural, etc... conditions. In order to discover such contexts, a work of art cannot
be uprooted from the specific temporal circumstances in which it is read or created and regarded as an
isolated purely original entity. Literature, for better or worse, is mired in history.
Marxist literary criticism remains a very rational, pragmatic endeavor at its core. If ideology were
merely some abstract set of notions...society would be very much easier to move and change than in
practice it has ever been or is (Williams 3). Though aware of their own inability to comment from
outside the bounds of hegemony, Marxist critics seem to express a tacit hope that by providing
knowledge of hegemonic

Essay on Ala Code of Ethics
In today s world, individuals can make a single decision that can have a positive or negative effect on
their family, coworkers, friends, or on the entire world. However, the life we lead can reflect our
personal character. Therefore, personal ethics are different for each one of us. However, when we
work in a professional career, we have our own work character to reflect on. What is professional
ethics? Professional ethics concerns the moral issues that arise because of the specialist knowledge
that professionals attain, and how the use of this knowledge should be governed when providing a

Pike
Over the past three seasons we have seen quite some villains on the show. Most of them were grey ish:
they had the right intentions but not the right methods. Think of Diana Sydney, Queen Anya, Dante
Wallace, Queen Nia. There were some less redeemable villains like Cage Wallace and there are a few
that are just downright unlikeable (remember Dr. Lorelei Tsing?). However, Pike takes unlikeable
villains to new dimensions. Nothing that the show has done has made him even a bit likeable. I want

To what extent is Nationalism inherently aggressive and expansionist? Intro: It is difficult to define
Nationalism as either inherently destructive or expansionist. It depends on the type of Nationalism and
the circumstances in which is arises and how people use or abuse it as an ideology. Heywood defines
four main breeds of Nationalism; Liberal Nationalism, Conservative Nationalism, Expansionist
Nationalism, Anti and post colonial Nationalism. One of the types of nationalism which is more likely
to be inherently destructive and expansionist is Expansionist Nationalism, as its name suggests, is
essentially destructive and expansionist. It advocates a form of national chauvinism where patriotism

I believe that modern expansionist and destructive imperialism is a logical consequence of the rise of
nationalism and that the liberation of conquered peoples was its unavoidable consequence. In some
regions, Europeans exerted complete political authority, in other areas, spheres of influence were
established, and leaving the existing governments as puppets, occasionally only economic influence
was exerted. Imperialism in Africa created colonies designed to serve the needs of the colonial
powers. Colonial boundaries often exacerbated long standing ethnic rivalries. The consequences of
expansionist nationalism were destructive and also predictable. Competition between the expanding
modern empires, rooted in expansionist nationalism, led to inter state wars, starting overseas in the
peripheral territories where these states sought to expand their rule, and it ended, during the 20th
century, in gigantic inter state wars at the centre. World Wars I and II brought the defeat of Germany
and Italy in comparison with France, England, America and Russia, but all of Europe suffered from
war devastation. In this period, the true off springs of nationalism who elevated this school to its
highest position and gave it its severest form were

Theme Of Isolation In Lord Of The Flies
Francesco Petrarch once said Man has no greater enemy than himself. It can be assumed that if man is
left alone, he is with himself; from that, the question, What happens if man is isolated, with only his
enemy to keep him company? can be posed. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, this
question is developed and given an answer, with the isolated setting bringing out the nature of man
and blurring the distinguishment between civilized and savage. The author used the setting of a
deserted island to illustrate the motifs of civilization and darkness through the effect it has on the
characters. The isolation that comes with crashing on a deserted island affects all the characters, seen
most dramatically through Jack. Being brought into this setting transforms the civilized choir leader
into a savage hunter and murderer who s given into his inner demons. When the boys first crash land
onto the island, they were proper English schoolboys. Due to the separation from society, however, the
boys start to regress, giving in to their more animalistic instincts. Jack starts off as the chapter
chorister and head boy who tries to take leadership of the tribe the boys form; he fails to do so, turning
him away from order and reason (Golding 22). He neglects his duties and turns his attention to
hunting the native pigs, prompting him to let the fire, their gateway back to society, go out; this pits
Ralph against Jack, who represent civilization and savagery

back taxes Gather important information. When needing to file old returns, find all documentations
that correspond to it. This would include 1099 tax documentations and old W 2s. if you are unable to
locate these documents, you are able to inquire with the business where you received them, for copies.
If the business no longer has copies of these documents on file for you, then phone the IRS and ask for
your income data for any missing years. It is very possible the IRS will be able to provide this
information, because every business is required to report the information directly to the IRS. But what

In re Gault 387 U.S. 1 (1967) involves fifteen year old Gerald Gault who was committed to an
Arizona state industrial training school for the remainder of his minority (age 21) because he and a
friend, Ronnie Lewis, had telephoned a Mrs. Cook and made lewd remarks to her.
The real issue is not the crime he committed, but a lack of Due Process and Equal Protection. The

Bethel University Student Analysis
In a transitional setting, a university will have instructors who will lecture all semester long and have
you complete two tests; one mid term and a final exam. As well as have a set time and place for the
aforementioned lecture to take place. In some universities attendance is not a requirement. They want
you to pass the test in the middle and at the end of the year. You could be in a class with as many as
two hundred plus people which makes it almost impossible for the instructor to reach out to students
who are having a hard time.
In an online or virtual setting, flexibility is not only a strength but a weakness. (Chambers, 2016).

How Mourad Mazouz Started his Restaurant, Sketch
In 2001, just after signing the lease for 9 Conduit Street, London a Grade II listed building Mourad
Mazouz went to Paris. Not yet knowing what he would do inside he went on a mission to find a chef
to collaborate with. Mazouz was already a reputable and successful restaurateur with his celebrated
restaurants Au Bascou and 404 in Paris as well as Momo in London. The listed townhouse was
designed as the private residence of James Viner by James Wyatt in 1779. After that it filled many
roles over the years including being converted into the headquarters of Royal Society of British
Architects (RIBA) from 1887 1909. In 1954 it became Christian Dior s first boutique where Dior
stored his collections in London.
In Paris Mazouz set up a meeting with Pierre Gagnaire, My plan was to ask if he had someone in mind
in his kitchen for this venture, but he said, Why not me? I freaked out, I had not planned to work with
a master. But I said, That s great!
It reminded Gagnaire of Saint Étienne where his restaurant had gone bankrupt during the recession of
the early 1990s. Mazouz later elaborated His restaurant was doing molecular food before anyone else,
so for me the story of Sketch, and our friendship, started with his old restaurant. He s told me a few
times since, that for him, Sketch is like a revenge: while it couldn t work in Saint Étienne, it could in
London.
Spanning two floors of this building, Sketch contains a tearoom, two bars and three restaurants as well

The Myth Of The Robber Barons Summary
In a book published in 1991 by Burt Folsom, The Myth of the Robber Barons is essentially a book
about two theories competing against one another, which is the political versus the market
entrepreneurs. The book adamantly persuades the reader into believing market entrepreneurship has
provided Americans with greater results versus political entrepreneurs featuring from real life
scenarios to back up Mr. Folsom claims. He pointed out several market entrepreneurs in his book such
as J.D. Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, James Hill and Charles Schwab as ones who helped
changed the economic climate for Americans by providing superior and lower cost products and/or
services than its competitors. Mr. Folsom continued to shine light on several political ... Show more

Mr. Folsom wrote The Myth of the Robber Baron because he believed sides of how America became a
world power was left out due to some entrepreneurs who help paved the way for businesses today.
With that belief, there is an abundance of knowledge to be learned starting from the first chapter of
Vanderbilt versus Collins/Fulton paving the way for the future of business dealings. Knowledge to be
gained was presented by Victor Niederhoffer where he states the reasons to read The Myth of the
Robber Barons as making the reader understand the sources of wealth and progress in society, hinting
on how to run a business successful and showing the key to success in business was lowering costs,
attention to detail, improved technology and sound financial structure (Niederhoffer). Furthermore,
today s business government relationship is ever important because the government has continue to
dabble in the expansion of business industries by covering costs and imposing taxes without
developing opportunities for businesses to create themselves and provide the goods and services that
is needed to keep The United States as a world power. Now more than ever, good and services are
being provided by countries not named The United States and government is allowing those standards
to continue because its cheaper for businesses outside America to develop goods and services for
Americans. Ultimately, The Myth of the Robber Barons is influential to today s businesses because it
reveals the implications of political involvement through government and not where it needs to be,
which is in the hands of the

Common Ground Observation Paper
On 07/15/2015, at approximately 2305 hours, your Affiant was on routine patrol on Main Street
(SR924) when I observed a silver Chrysler sedan parked in the One Hundred Block of South Main
Street (westside of the street) near the intersection of Oak Street. The vehicle displayed a Pennsylvania
registration of JRJ 5342. The registration was checked utilizing the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation vehicle record abstract which revealed that the license plate was assigned by the
department to KYLE ROBERT SARAH LYNN FOGARTY for a 1998 Chevrolet. I then verified the
status of KYLE and SARAH FOGARTY S driving licenses both of which were suspended by the

COLIN was requested and agreed to submit to a chemical test of blood. I read the chemical warning

The Negative Effects Of Technology On The Family
The Effects of Technology on the Family
Technology has advanced over the years and is starting to be used more often by families on a daily
basis for work, school, leisure, and for social interaction. In today s modern society, it is not
uncommon to see a technological device in someone s possession. In fact, a recent study done in 2016
found that technology is more prevalent than we might realize with 98 percent of adults between the
ages 18 and 29 owning a cell phone and 85 percent of those cell phones being smart phones (Stein,
Osborn, Greenberg, 2016). This lit review examines the effect that technology has on family
relationships. Technology has an important place in American families, but it can easily take up
valuable time that can be spent having face to face interactions. In 2013 children ages 8 to 18 years
old spent approximately 7.5 hours a day looking at a screen, and when looking at the same age group
back in 1999 children only spent 5 hours a day using technology (Sanders, Parent, Forehand,
Breslend, 2016). Family bonding experiences can be influenced if children and parents are frequent
users of technology. A very recent study conducted this year found that social media is used daily by
75 percent of adults ages 18 29 using it and 66 percent of older adult ages 30 39 using it as well
(Haslam, Tee, Baker, 2017). Research shows that, in the United States, 173 billion text messages were
sent monthly by 293 million cell phone subscribers, according to mid year 2010 data. That s about 20
daily text messages per subscriber (Isaiah, Williams, Byron, 2011, p.66). Technology use is growing
every year and, as noted earlier, the younger generation is spending additional time on it than before.
The availability of technology such as cell phones and computers are made available to almost every
household, makes this a trending topic (Hertlein, 2012). It is important to focus further research into
how this growing trend of digital use affects the families that are using it, and how it affects them
personally, their family relationships, and family life in general. The research for this topic could be
used to help parents adjust screen time for their family and help them to understand how technology

Biological warfare, while the other two fall under chemical warfare.
Biological weapons can be broken into three groups;
1) BACTERIAL
This is a contagious bacterial disease that is transmitted through the air(respiratory) or by person to
person contact, and is often accompanied by fever and delirium, headache, weakness, and cough. If
not treated early enough, the recipient may go into septic shock and die. Antibiotics are effective in the
treatment of this type of disease.
Examples: Plague, Anthrax or Q fever; (HLS 101 Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). [APA], n.d.).
2) VIRUSES
This is a submicroscopic infectious agent that is unable to grow or reproduce outside a host cell. It is
non cellular but consisting of a core of DNA or RNA surrounded by a protein coat.

Pros And Cons Of Health Care Reform
Introduction: The topic of discussion is the fairness of an individual mandated to purchase health
insurance. It was one of the most argumentative subjects in U.S. politics: the federal health care law s
requirement that everybody has health insurance or pays a fine. Supporters of this debate, argue that it
s fundamental to make health care more affordable and available to everyone.
Those against the mandate say a law that forces people to purchase anything, as well as health
insurance, disturbs promises of personal freedom protected by the Constitution. Opponents say, it also
makes health care more expensive and ineffective.
Reconstructions of Arguments:
A. It is the conclusion of Karen Davenport that it is the key to reform. Should everyone ... Show more

In the second article, Michael F. Cannon argues no: premiums will rise according to his article asking
should everyone be required to have health insurance. He even tells us if the mandate were
constitutional; it would still be a bad idea. Some of his reasoning s for this is not a good plan is that
the mandate will increase premiums. The mandate s greatest fabrication is the idea that it promotes
personal responsibility. He explains that supporters want a mandate so it can keep them from being
responsible. Here s how this will happen, by the federal law promotion of irresponsibility by allowing
healthy people to wait until they get sick to buy coverage. He argues this is selfishness forcing others
to bear the cost of ones decision.
I believe in the importance for each American to have the option for health insurance. As a nurse, I
have seen many cases of people that did not seek medical attention due to they could not afford health
care. I believe that I should support article #1 in regards to health care and it should be available and
affordable to all citizens. The Affordable Care Act is meant to address a lack of access and high costs.
The requirement of health insurance is not only fair, but it is desperately

Argument Against Leukemia
The fight against cancer has taken a strange twist for the good. Leukemia is a cancer of the body and
the surrounding tissues, which includes the lymphatic system and the bone marrow. There are many
types of leukemia. Most forms are more common in children than adults. This is a devastating and
cruel disease, that takes the lives of men, women and children. Thousands are diagnosed each year
with this unforgiving disease.
However, there is a light over the horizon. Researcher s at the University of Pennsylvania have found
an answer to leukemia s call for a fight. They answer this call by using harmless modified version of
HIV. These researchers have modified the harmless HIV so that once it is injected to the body, it seeks

Be reassured, it is not the actual virus. It is modified to the point that the genes that cause the disease
and which make it infectious are removed. Our own T Cells cannot see cancer cells in our bodies.
However, the modified HIV cell can seek out and destroy these nasty critters.
With the research at Penn Medicine, Only Those patients that have no other treatment plan or have
any hope of recovery of any kind was accepted into the program to experiment with this new
treatment. Those who were terminally ill, with no chance of survival were able to have the
experimental treatment. Surprisingly, most if not all showed signs of partial or complete remission.
This research trial has been tested on several children. After the HIV entered their body, they became
very sick. High fever, trouble breathing, and even blood pressure issues. After several days not
knowing if the patient would survive, a miracle had happened. One patient showed full remission of
the leukemia. That patient is doing fine and well and living a full life.
This treatment is still in experimental stages. With no FDA approval just yet, many are hoping

The Care Of A Patient
Within this case study I am going to use two of the Chapelhow et al. (2005) enablers to discuss and
reflect on the care of a patient I have been involved with on placement over a period of 5 weeks.
Enablers are the essential and underpinning skills that come together to provide expert professional
practice (Chapelhow, C et al. 2005, p.2). These include; assessment, communication, documentation,
risk, professional decision making and managing uncertainty. The enablers work together to provide a
holistic approach to the care of patients in health care settings. I am going to focus on and discuss two
of the enablers, linking them both together, which will be assessment and communication as I believe
these two enablers can be related most to my patient. I have gained full consent to use this lady as my
patient in my care study. Consent is important as you must always gain permission from the patient in
regards to their care plan and keep them fully informed. It is vital that the person consents before any
treatment, care, examination or assessment (Brooker et al., 2007, p.157). Confidentiality is a
fundamental part of professional practice that protects human rights (NMC, 2008). To maintain my
patient s confidentiality throughout my care study I am going to call her Annie. Annie is a 72 year old
lady whose care I have been involved with on placement. Annie s medical history included; previous

Plra Court System
At one point the United States Court System paid no attention to inmate complaints and concerns.
However, that changed when the Supreme Court took an interest in prisoner litigations. Lawmakers
finally began to see inmates as American citizens who still were afforded certain liberties according to
the United States Constitution. Once perspectives began to change about the prisoners and their rights,
petitions addressing the violations of inmate s civil liberties started to flood into the courts. The
American court system is aware that prisoners do have some rights, but they would naturally be fewer
than free citizens (Carlson Garrett, 2008). The limitation of rights is mandatory to sustain security in
prisons or jails. The federal government stepped in and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is that the inmate must exhaust all supervisory fulfilments in their local facility before the

filing in forma pauperis as mentioned in the second requirement if they had a previous suit dissolved
for being frivolous or vengeful (Carlson Garrett, 2008). The intention of the legislation was an attempt
to correct a problem that was endangering the legitimacy of the process. However, the PLRA and it
states catalogs have considerably decreased judicial oversight of prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities,
which has now resulted in the terrible abuses going unmonitored. The PLRA is responsible for a sixty
percent decline in the number of federal cases filed between 1995 and 2006. The legislation was not
supposed to prevent the raising of legitimate complaints. If the bill were doing what its creators
intended, there would be a decline in filings and an increase in plaintiffs success. The PLRA has

Identity Crisis In Where Shall We Go This Summer
Where Shall We Go This Summer?
Desai s novel Where Shall We Go This Summer? an illustrious novel, deals with the story of an
oppressed mind. It depicts an intense identity crisis of the protagonist, Sita, a sensitive woman at her
early forties who finds herself alienated from her husband and children. Sita is hypersensitive and she
is incapable of looking at things in the normal way. In the first part of the novel entitled Monsoon 67 ,
she is shown as married to a prosperous businessman, Raman. She had had four children with pride

leaves a big question mark. The name itself is suggestive of an escape from the summer that stands for
the raging inner tension, frustration, disappointment, mental discord and disharmony of the inner
consciousness of Sita. Anita Desai views the violence through the eyes of a woman in the limited area
of her domestic relationship. Desai concludes this novel with Sita s recovery from her plunge into
existential nullity. Sita as a broken bird of the seashore analyzes the cause of her anxiety and neurotic
behavior and learns to cultivate the art of survival in the destined life. Her triumph over her illusions
renders the island devoid of its powers and miracles. Sita realizes that the part is irrevocable therefore
it is useless to go back to it. Her diminished ego paves way for her becoming conscious of human
relationship. The realization that her escape from the realities of life would not offer any solution to
her spiritual impasses makes her regain, her lost faith. Sita is bold enough, first to protest against her
circumstances, and then taking the blame on herself for being a coward and not facing reality. Desai s
pre occupation with the woman s inner world, frustration and storm raging inside her mind intensify
her predicament. She also excels in elaborating the miserable position of highly sensitive and
emotional women tortured by negligence and loneliness. She is excellent in depicting the

Strategic Objectives Of The Organization
Strategic Objectives of the Organization Target Corporation was created by Doug Dayton in 1902.

Dayton created a mantra of giving back for his business. In 1946, The Dayton Company was solidified
the practices of pushing 5% of its pretax profits back into the community. Fast forward to 1950, after
Mr. Dayton s death, his grandson, Donald C. Dayton, took his place as the company President. It was
in 1960 that Target Stores were born and Dayton Department Stores moved into a discount store
market. Although the move was considered quite risky, the family felt by demonstrating visionary
leadership, the company would be successful as they moved toward transforming the organization
from a family run department store chain into one of the nation s largest discount store chains. The
first store opened in 1962. To this day, still headquartered in Minneapolis Minnesota, Target

Human Primates And Human Primate
For my final paper for this class I will be going over and portraying the behavior of non human
primate and human primate in the literature and movies we went over, compared to the evolutionary
understandings of primate behavior. Throughout this class we studied and compared the different
primates, including human and non humans. According to the Wikipedia, The primate lineage is
thought to go back at least 65 million years ago. with that one could say that research on non human
and human primate can somehow explain the theory behind evolution. In addition to the different
reading materials we had in class we also watched several movies displaying different behaviors of
non human primate and human primate. With that saying, I developed a thesis statement, despite its
differences and similarities between non human primates and human primates behavior, can evolution
be understood differently when comparing the two through various readings, movies and evolutionary
research. Throughout this paper I will be going over the differences and similarities in behavior,
evolution, a higher power and even my take on such an opposition. First, I want to go over and talk
about the Evolutionary Theory. The Evolutionary Theory is a theory that has been supported by years
of experiments which is known as being one of the best speculation of natural occurrence. The
changes on earth through different events that occurred over time could be the cause of such a variety

  • 2. Reflection Paper On Gym The Dreaded Gym Class I don t really enjoy exercise, the sweating, being out of breath etc. Therefore, I would never guess that a high school gym class would influence how I would be spending the rest of my life. Well, it never changed my opinion on exercise, but it did help me discover a passion for education and how people should be treated. I always assumed that I would be a vet, healing animals and having customers come from far and wide. However, around the age of twelve, I realized you have to be willing to put animals down in order to do that job. Shortly, I decided that I need to rethink my career choice. The gym is unwelcoming as ever despite the school colors being flaunted on every surface in the large room. A cold draft of air blows through as the smooth wooden doors swing open, letting out the odor of the hard work that the basketball team put in that morning. Two of the four walls are lined with yellow ish bleachers which doe eyed students fill. As I walk, my head hangs low enough I can see my reflection on the floor mocking my shyness. Now I m truly noticing the assembly of other students, each one looks as nervous as the next. This class is not the classic gym class. No running miles or the panic of dodgeball, just a class to integrate students that have special needs with their peers. In time, we are handed a packet that just came off the printer. Its warmth contrasting to the overall temperature of the room. A lecture starts on confidentiality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A quote that proves his step father was tortured says Simon was held prisoner by the Seneca for 3 years, and at 15 he was forced to watch step farther being tortured to death (biography.your.dictonary.com). Simon Girty being so helpful to the British and Indians, makes him a good person. Going through all he had been through when he was young influences sympathy for him. Ethos Logos THESIS: In Jonathan Edwards Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God vivid imagery is utilized through ethos, logos, and pathos in an attemt to sway the acts of sinners to be morally correct. Jonathan Edward, an American theolagian and central figure in the awakening during the 1800 s, was mostly known for leadning the great awakning and his strong belief in hell: a very common topic during his time. In his sermon sinners in the hands of an angry god, preached on July 8, 1741 in Enfield, Connecticut. Edward emphasizes gods power and how easy it is for god to drop you in hell, so therfore you should do everyhting you can to get on his good side. Sinners in the hands of an angry god is a sermon written by Jonathan Edwards, an American theolagian. The sermon was preached during the periode of great awakening when it was a time of religiouse revival. The Great Awakening was essentially a spiritual awakening of different religious groups in thethirteen colonies of America in the 18th century. The use of ethos is critical because in order for edwards audience to take him seriously, they must respect him and agree that he is worth listening to. Finally, the use of logos in edwards preach is important because facts are needed in order to make a valid position and point. • 5. Kinetic Energy Research Paper Energy is what we need to accomplish physical actions such as walking, lifting a glass, heating water, or powering a TV (nmsea). You use energy for everything. Energy can always be conserved; you cannot create nor destroy energy. Something you can do with energy is you can transfer energy between objects (livescience). Energy can come in different forms. The two most common different forms are potential and kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, some examples of that include downhill motion of a roller coaster cart, rolling a bowling ball, and the motion of a bike. Kinetic energy has two other types of kinetic energy, thermal/heat energy and sound waves. Thermal and heat energy is energy that comes from heat when particles ... The two basic types of Calorimetry are measurements based on constant pressure and then measurements based on constant volume. They have made a bomb Calorimetry. A calorimeter is the object measuring the heat transferred to or from an object (physics classroom). They have made a bomb Calorimetry; they mainly use them in the bigger labs. It has nothing to do with a bomb, the mainly fill the chamber with oxygen gas and the fuel. A wire is put in the system to electrically ignite the contents to perform the study. A jacket of water and a thermometer surrounds the reaction chamber, the heat released the chamber warms the water, letting the people doing the lab determine the energy that is being released (physics classroom). Another type of calorimeter is the coffee cup calorimeter. They take a Styrofoam cup with a lid. The cup is half way filled with water and a thermometer through the lid. • 6. Great Expectations- Character Analysis Essay Estella Havisham: Most readers are appalled at the cold hearted and cruel ways of Estella, but any criticism directed at her is largely undeserved. She was simply raised in a controlled environment where she was, in essence, brainwashed by Miss Havisham. Nonetheless, her demeanor might lead one to suspect that she was a girl with a heart of ice. Estella is scornful from the moment she is introduced, when she remarks on Pip s coarse hands and thick boots. However, her beauty soon captivates Pip and she is instilled as the focal point of his thoughts for much of the remainder of the novel. The fact that Pip becomes infatuated with her is also not Estella s fault. By no means is there any evidence that she loved him. She does not flirt with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The entire story is told through the eyes of an adult Pip, even though Pip is a small child during parts of it. In his early years, Pip was strongly influenced by his guardians, Joe Gargery and his wife, Mrs. Joe. Joe instills a sense of honesty, industry, and friendliness in Pip, while Mrs. Joe does a great deal to contribute to his desires and ambitions through her constant emphasis on pomp and property. Pip is generally good natured and thoughtful, and very imaginative. His false values, which are bolstered by his love of Estella, decrease the amount of respect that he has for Joe. His alienation from Joe and Joe s values builds through the second part of the novel, as Pip becomes selfish, greedy, and foolish. During the period when his expectations are intact, his only morally positive act was to secretly help Herbert Pocket into a good position. Upon discovering that Magwitch is his benefactor, a new phase begins in Pip s moral evolution. At first, Pip no longer feels the same human compassion for Magwitch that he did the first time he saw him out on the marshes. He loved politics and he wrote only when he could not participate in government. He had a motto which he constantly strived for: to always be the best and over top the rest. Cicero had a high political career in Rome for that time as winning elections were almost always exclusively controlled by a group of wealthy aristocratic families. Cicero s family was not one of them. Lacking this advantage there were essentially only two career options open to him; a military career, he was no soldier and hated war, or a career in law. But after a year and a half the political conditions changed and he was allowed to return to Rome. He owed his return to Rome to the Triumvirate for ending his exile and for not killing him. He paid them off over the next eight years as a lawyer. During this time he continued his studies in Philosophy. Between 55 51BC he created some of his most famous pieces of writing; On the Orator, On the Republic, and On the Laws. In 49BC the Triumvirate collapsed with the death of another Roman senator, Crassus. This raised the question if Rome would become a republic or an empire or weather Pompey or Caesar would be Emperor. Cicero believed it would make little difference as it would be a disaster in either case. But Caesar won the civil war and became the first Roman emperor in 47BC and Cicero was forced to stay out of politics, and again used this time to write the rest of his philosophical papers. • 11. Marxist Literary Criticism Essay While literary critics do attempt to elaborate or develop ideas articulated by Karl Marx, it is important and necessary to make a distinction between Marx s specific socio economic and political agenda and the body of literary theory which emerged years later. Marxist literary criticism proceeds from the fundamental philosophical assumption that consciousness can never be anything else than conscious existence...Life is not determined by consciousness, but consciousness by life (Marx 568 9). Marxist critics use this challenge to the notion of an innate, prefigured, individual human nature to reexamine the nature of creative or literary authority. Power seems to reside outside or beyond the bounds of humanity. Rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though such institutions are capable of reaffirming certain statements of power, hegemony itself is, as Raymond Williams states, a whole body of practices and expectations...our ordinary understanding of the nature of man and his world...a sense of reality...a sense of absolute (4). While Marxist critics must admit that they themselves are helpless to avoid the effects of hegemony, the critical project of Marxist literary criticism remains steadfastly committed to the attempt to identify and understand the mediating contexts in which the forces of hegemony exert pressure on a text, its author, and its audience. These contexts manifest themselves within specific historical, economic, political, cultural, etc... conditions. In order to discover such contexts, a work of art cannot be uprooted from the specific temporal circumstances in which it is read or created and regarded as an isolated purely original entity. Literature, for better or worse, is mired in history. Marxist literary criticism remains a very rational, pragmatic endeavor at its core. If ideology were merely some abstract set of notions...society would be very much easier to move and change than in practice it has ever been or is (Williams 3). Though aware of their own inability to comment from outside the bounds of hegemony, Marxist critics seem to express a tacit hope that by providing knowledge of hegemonic ... Imperialism in Africa created colonies designed to serve the needs of the colonial powers. Colonial boundaries often exacerbated long standing ethnic rivalries. The consequences of expansionist nationalism were destructive and also predictable. • 16. Theme Of Isolation In Lord Of The Flies Francesco Petrarch once said Man has no greater enemy than himself. It can be assumed that if man is left alone, he is with himself; from that, the question, What happens if man is isolated, with only his enemy to keep him company? can be posed. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, this question is developed and given an answer, with the isolated setting bringing out the nature of man and blurring the distinguishment between civilized and savage. The author used the setting of a deserted island to illustrate the motifs of civilization and darkness through the effect it has on the characters. The isolation that comes with crashing on a deserted island affects all the characters, seen most dramatically through Jack. Being brought into this setting transforms the civilized choir leader into a savage hunter and murderer who s given into his inner demons. When the boys first crash land onto the island, they were proper English schoolboys. Due to the separation from society, however, the boys start to regress, giving in to their more animalistic instincts. Jack starts off as the chapter chorister and head boy who tries to take leadership of the tribe the boys form; he fails to do so, turning him away from order and reason (Golding 22). He neglects his duties and turns his attention to hunting the native pigs, prompting him to let the fire, their gateway back to society, go out; this pits Ralph against Jack, who represent civilization and savagery ... Knowledge to be gained was presented by Victor Niederhoffer where he states the reasons to read The Myth of the Robber Barons as making the reader understand the sources of wealth and progress in society, hinting on how to run a business successful and showing the key to success in business was lowering costs, attention to detail, improved technology and sound financial structure (Niederhoffer). • 25. The Negative Effects Of Technology On The Family The Effects of Technology on the Family Technology has advanced over the years and is starting to be used more often by families on a daily basis for work, school, leisure, and for social interaction. In today s modern society, it is not uncommon to see a technological device in someone s possession. In fact, a recent study done in 2016 found that technology is more prevalent than we might realize with 98 percent of adults between the ages 18 and 29 owning a cell phone and 85 percent of those cell phones being smart phones (Stein, Osborn, Greenberg, 2016). This lit review examines the effect that technology has on family relationships. Technology has an important place in American families, but it can easily take up valuable time that can be spent having face to face interactions. In 2013 children ages 8 to 18 years old spent approximately 7.5 hours a day looking at a screen, and when looking at the same age group back in 1999 children only spent 5 hours a day using technology (Sanders, Parent, Forehand, Breslend, 2016). Family bonding experiences can be influenced if children and parents are frequent users of technology. A very recent study conducted this year found that social media is used daily by 75 percent of adults ages 18 29 using it and 66 percent of older adult ages 30 39 using it as well (Haslam, Tee, Baker, 2017). Research shows that, in the United States, 173 billion text messages were sent monthly by 293 million cell phone subscribers, according to mid year 2010 data. That s about 20 daily text messages per subscriber (Isaiah, Williams, Byron, 2011, p.66). Technology use is growing every year and, as noted earlier, the younger generation is spending additional time on it than before. The availability of technology such as cell phones and computers are made available to almost every household, makes this a trending topic (Hertlein, 2012). It is important to focus further research into how this growing trend of digital use affects the families that are using it, and how it affects them personally, their family relationships, and family life in general. • 27. Pros And Cons Of Health Care Reform Introduction: The topic of discussion is the fairness of an individual mandated to purchase health insurance. It was one of the most argumentative subjects in U.S. politics: the federal health care law s requirement that everybody has health insurance or pays a fine. Supporters of this debate, argue that it s fundamental to make health care more affordable and available to everyone. Those against the mandate say a law that forces people to purchase anything, as well as health insurance, disturbs promises of personal freedom protected by the Constitution. Opponents say, it also makes health care more expensive and ineffective. Reconstructions of Arguments: A. It is the conclusion of Karen Davenport that it is the key to reform. Should everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the second article, Michael F. Cannon argues no: premiums will rise according to his article asking should everyone be required to have health insurance. He even tells us if the mandate were constitutional; it would still be a bad idea. Some of his reasoning s for this is not a good plan is that the mandate will increase premiums. The mandate s greatest fabrication is the idea that it promotes personal responsibility. He explains that supporters want a mandate so it can keep them from being responsible. Here s how this will happen, by the federal law promotion of irresponsibility by allowing healthy people to wait until they get sick to buy coverage. He argues this is selfishness forcing others to bear the cost of ones decision. I believe in the importance for each American to have the option for health insurance. As a nurse, I have seen many cases of people that did not seek medical attention due to they could not afford health care. I believe that I should support article #1 in regards to health care and it should be available and affordable to all citizens. The Affordable Care Act is meant to address a lack of access and high costs. The requirement of health insurance is not only fair, but it is desperately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Care Of A Patient Within this case study I am going to use two of the Chapelhow et al. (2005) enablers to discuss and reflect on the care of a patient I have been involved with on placement over a period of 5 weeks. Enablers are the essential and underpinning skills that come together to provide expert professional practice (Chapelhow, C et al. 2005, p.2). These include; assessment, communication, documentation, risk, professional decision making and managing uncertainty. The enablers work together to provide a holistic approach to the care of patients in health care settings. I am going to focus on and discuss two of the enablers, linking them both together, which will be assessment and communication as I believe these two enablers can be related most to my patient. I have gained full consent to use this lady as my patient in my care study. Consent is important as you must always gain permission from the patient in regards to their care plan and keep them fully informed. It is vital that the person consents before any treatment, care, examination or assessment (Brooker et al., 2007, p.157). Confidentiality is a fundamental part of professional practice that protects human rights (NMC, 2008). To maintain my patient s confidentiality throughout my care study I am going to call her Annie. Annie is a 72 year old lady whose care I have been involved with on placement. • 31. Plra Court System At one point the United States Court System paid no attention to inmate complaints and concerns. However, that changed when the Supreme Court took an interest in prisoner litigations. Lawmakers finally began to see inmates as American citizens who still were afforded certain liberties according to the United States Constitution. Once perspectives began to change about the prisoners and their rights, petitions addressing the violations of inmate s civil liberties started to flood into the courts. The American court system is aware that prisoners do have some rights, but they would naturally be fewer than free citizens (Carlson Garrett, 2008). The limitation of rights is mandatory to sustain security in prisons or jails. The federal government stepped in and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The intention of the legislation was an attempt to correct a problem that was endangering the legitimacy of the process. However, the PLRA and it states catalogs have considerably decreased judicial oversight of prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities, which has now resulted in the terrible abuses going unmonitored. The PLRA is responsible for a sixty percent decline in the number of federal cases filed between 1995 and 2006. The legislation was not supposed to prevent the raising of legitimate complaints. If the bill were doing what its creators intended, there would be a decline in filings and an increase in plaintiffs success. • 32. Identity Crisis In Where Shall We Go This Summer Where Shall We Go This Summer? Desai s novel Where Shall We Go This Summer? an illustrious novel, deals with the story of an oppressed mind. It depicts an intense identity crisis of the protagonist, Sita, a sensitive woman at her early forties who finds herself alienated from her husband and children. The name itself is suggestive of an escape from the summer that stands for the raging inner tension, frustration, disappointment, mental discord and disharmony of the inner consciousness of Sita. Anita Desai views the violence through the eyes of a woman in the limited area of her domestic relationship. Desai concludes this novel with Sita s recovery from her plunge into existential nullity. Sita as a broken bird of the seashore analyzes the cause of her anxiety and neurotic behavior and learns to cultivate the art of survival in the destined life. Her triumph over her illusions renders the island devoid of its powers and miracles. Sita realizes that the part is irrevocable therefore it is useless to go back to it. Her diminished ego paves way for her becoming conscious of human relationship. The realization that her escape from the realities of life would not offer any solution to her spiritual impasses makes her regain, her lost faith. Sita is bold enough, first to protest against her circumstances, and then taking the blame on herself for being a coward and not facing reality. Desai s pre occupation with the woman s inner world, frustration and storm raging inside her mind intensify her predicament. She also excels in elaborating the miserable position of highly sensitive and emotional women tortured by negligence and loneliness. She is excellent in depicting the ... • 35. Human Primates And Human Primate For my final paper for this class I will be going over and portraying the behavior of non human primate and human primate in the literature and movies we went over, compared to the evolutionary understandings of primate behavior. Throughout this class we studied and compared the different primates, including human and non humans. According to the Wikipedia, The primate lineage is thought to go back at least 65 million years ago. with that one could say that research on non human and human primate can somehow explain the theory behind evolution. In addition to the different reading materials we had in class we also watched several movies displaying different behaviors of non human primate and human primate. With that saying, I developed a thesis statement, despite its differences and similarities between non human primates and human primates behavior, can evolution be understood differently when comparing the two through various readings, movies and evolutionary research. Throughout this paper I will be going over the differences and similarities in behavior, evolution, a higher power and even my take on such an opposition. First, I want to go over and talk about the Evolutionary Theory. The Evolutionary Theory is a theory that has been supported by years of experiments which is known as being one of the best speculation of natural occurrence.
