Pre-College Personal Statement
Pre College
I was raised by two Asian immigrants, I spent most of my childhood with strict life expectations.
My parents cared about pushing me to become a doctor and with that academic success. I rebelled
most of it only seeing it as a negative in my life.
That kind of lifestyle made me look at academics as a negative while games are positive. My
parents did not have the same look for those as I did. That being the case, I hid all traces to
gaming from them and only showed them my lacking academic side. I received okay grades, B s
and C s, up until high school when I received my first A in a computer sciencecourse.
Computer science became my passion. The positivity I received fueled my passion for computer
science. The shift from being berated to commended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They thought the only way to learn was from a book. They did not believe that computer science
could be a stable, successful career compared a medical career. That mentality led me to apply as a
biology major.
My first quarter at UCR was filled with chemistry and biology classes. I persuaded my parents to
allow me to take a computer science course. I loved that class. I did well in that class. It was the
class I looked forward to after my chemistry and biology classes. I switched majors after that
quarter to computer science.
College
I am passionate about computer science. Computer science is a field I can be creative and
meaningful. I can create a program in x amount of time which can save people xn amount of time.
The return on investment is great and the smiles are a plus.
I continue through computer science even, though it can be hard at points because of those
smiles. The programs that I make can be shared with those around the word. The cost of
production is near zero; I don t have to worry about getting funding to prototype. I can create a
solution to a real world problem very easily and very cheaply.

Literary Analysis Of To Homer By John Keats
Homer had a way of illustrating the natural world in exquisite detail. To him, the irregular shapes
and bold colors that surrounded him told stories only he could fathom. No one could have
guessed that Homer was blind. Every reader makes a choice to either read the top layer of his
work and visualize what their brain desires, or absorb the creativity and stand in the middle of his
flamboyant visions, not realizing that they have been changed forever. John Keatsexpresses how
Homer s writing had a way of healing his own ignorance, and changing his life from the moment
he read it. Keats writes about how he was most definitely not the same person he was before his
exposure to Homer. The poem, To Homer by John Keats explicates the idea that although Homer
was physically blind, he enabled a man blind with ignorance (Keats), to see the world through his
literature.
The first part of the poem explains Keats ignorance before reading, as well as the greek gods
revealing elements of sky, sea, and land to Homer and then Keats. The first few lines express how
Keats was ignorant because of him not understanding Homer s writing. Later he explains how he
has heard of Homer, and how Homer wants to see, dolphin coral in deep seas. The importance of
mentioning coral here is that coral is known for its bright colors and funky shapes, something one
can only witness with their eyes, which Homer wishes he was able to. Then, Keats blatantly
mentions how Homer is blind, but then says, the

The Effects Of Long Distance Travel During The Era 1200
One of the most important effects of long distance travel in the era 1200 to 1500 was the famine
that started in 1315. The population lessened due to the lack of food and even when they did
have food it wasn t enough to stop their starvation. In the article Famine of 1315 it was stated:
Four pennies worth of coarse bread was not enough to feed a common man for one day. The
usual kinds of meat, suitable for eating, were too scarce; horse meat was precious; plump dogs
were stolen. And, according to many reports, men and women in many places secretly ate their
own children.... ( The famine of 1315) It showed how desperate people had become to stay alive.
The food wasn t enough for the people to survive due to the grains that weren t nourished during
the summer, so it caused the famine during the winter. People were stealing plump pets for meat
so that they could have something that would actually help their survival. Some people have
even ate their own children, instead of having another person to worry about feeding, they ate the
children so they can survive. At the time it seemed to be survival of the fittest if you are on the
vulnerable side most likely they wouldn t stay alive, such as the poor. Some of the poor had been
laying stiff in the streets because they weren t able to feed themselves and no one bothered to help
them because they had their own hunger to worry about. The poor was not even worst off, that
would have been anyone that stayed in the cities. The rich

Why The United States Has Only Two Major Political Parties
Final Exam Essays
Essay Prompt 1: Discuss why the United States has only two major political parties.
The United States government is commonly referred to as a Duopoly , which means that there are
two established political parties, Democratic and Republic, and that these two parties share the vast
majority of the political power in the country. This is because the United Statesfollows a winner
takes all voting system, utilizing a single member district plurality . The single member district
portion means that for each geographic area or district, there is only one elected official, and the
plurality portion means that in United States elections, the representative or politician who receives
the most number of votes, wins the given election, even if it s less than half the percentage of
votes. According to Duverger s law, a Political Science principle, plurality voting procedures
correlationally support the emergence of only two political parties, in contrast to a multiparty
democracy.
This is largely because there have only been two parties for so long, and these two parties have
made it such a point to make their separation of ideals and beliefs blatant, so the vast majority of
the voters have for the most part picked a definitive side , so to speak, and have registered as a
member of the corresponding political party, that caters the most to their individual ideals. Because
of this, it has made it very hard for any smaller parties to gain enough support to

Queer Studies Montegary
I.Introduction
While my choosing Prof. Montegary s Introduction to Queer Studies fulfills the course s
requirement to be present in a higher numbered class than the previous observation, it also
offered me the opportunity to study a professor I had previously spoken to on numerous
occasions regarding the PhD program, various disciplines and the overall business of academics .
As such, I looked forward to the opportunity to now observe her pedagogical praxis in practice (per
se) and style.
As a class, the Introduction to Queer Studies (WST111) is meant to provide...a basic overview of
queer studies and introduce...major texts, theories, and thinkers within this interdisciplinary
field...focus(ing) specifically on the development of queer studies within the US academy and on
how queer theory has transformed the study of sexuality within the United States (syllabus). The
particular module I would be observing on Wednesday, March 10th Feminist Theories of Race,

She framed the reading in broader contexts, making connections between the theories, their feminist
authors and social conditions at the time. Each essay is introduced through a representative quote,
some biographical notes about its author(s) , followed up by questions meant to generate further
discussion. There seems to be a standard group of about five to eight students who readily answer
questions, and while she will pick them, Prof. Montegary also chooses students at random (joking

Silas Deane Research Paper
History is often said to be what has happened in the past, and a historian s job is to bring that
information back, without distorting it. This undistorted passing of history is often times may
not always be achieved, and the story of the death of Silas Deane is a great example of that The
formerly known story was one of rags to riches, and back to rags. He was born to a humble
blacksmith, who had high aspirations for his son, and sent him off to Yale, where he studied law.
He opened his own practice and was very successful. Not satisfied, he entered into the world of
politics, working his way up the ladder, eventually becoming a delegate to the first and second
Continental Congresses, drawing the attention of leaders. He was then sent to France as the
American representative of the colonies, later joined by Benjamin Franklin and Arthur Lee. He was
described as ambitious and someone to be watched, even accused of using his position in
government for personal profit. Further controversy forced him out of France, America, and
England, ending up in Flanders. He lived there until the controversy died down some and then
moved to England, where he lived in obscurity, resorting to drinking, and living in the house of a
prostitute. His one loyal friend, Edward Bancroft, provided financial support for him. When he
thought the coast was clear to move back, he set sail for America aboard the Boston Packet out of
London. On its way, a storm came, blowing out both of the ships anchors, and it changed course for

Examples Of Forgiveness And Reconciliation
The process involved in forgiveness and reconciliation can be very simple or very complex
depending on the situation. One time my friend took money from my wallet, I think it was a
$20 bill and I caught him in the act. We were both in the car and I parked at the mall and I left
the car for about five minutes and when I was walking back I saw in reach into my glove box
and take money out of my wallet. I was shocked and confronted him right away. He said he
needed money to pay for his brother back. Since he is a friend of mine I forgave him and just said
he could just ask for money and didn t have to steal from me. We are still friends and I still hang
out with him on the regular but I don t trust him anymore. Trust is defiantly something that... Show

The Amish are very religious and spiritual people who believe that forgiveness is more than a good
thing to do but forgiveness is the thing to do. In the Amish perspective the test of faith is action
so forgiving their children s killers with hours of death really shows what kind of people they
are and is very inspiring. The way the Amish people responded to the killings was such a shock.
One of the things I liked about that article was when they said that religion was not used to
justify rage but to inspire goodness, forgiveness, and grace. Even members of the community
visited the gunman s widow and parents. For the majority of us the process of forgiveness is a
journey and may never happen so just the fact they forgave so quickly was viewed as
emotionally unhealthy to many. Forgiveness has a meaning of not holding a grudge and the
Amish were very clear that it does not make the shooter free from punishment. If he were to live
the Amish people would have wanted him to be locked up but not for reasons of revenge but for
the purpose of protecting other children. Most people growing up learn about forgiveness and
have experienced it one way or another. People need to learn that forgiveness is an essential part
of healing and is a process towards inner peace. Learning that forgiveness is an internal process
where you identify the hurt and analyze the situation as well as your emotions helps you rebuild a
sense of safety and letting go of a grudge. The whole process of forgiveness does not usually
involve the offender, most of the time not at all until confronted. As where reconciliation is an
internal process where you have a talk with the offender to talk about various things such as what
happened, each other s stories, viewpoints, reasoning s, expressing the hurt, emotions, and so on.
When reconciliation happens it moves beyond forgiveness because it is

The Role and Rights of Women in Western Europe and Eastern...
During the long nineteenth century, political revolutions, industrialization, and European
imperialism resulted in dramatic changes in the role of women in Western Europe and Eastern
Asia. As industrialization spread in Western Europe, women were no longer able to fulfill their
dual role as a mother and a worker. After the introduction of industrialization, laborious tasks
were moved from the household to factories and women were forced to choose either the life of a
mother or the life of a worker. Women who chose to leave their households were subjected to
harsh conditions, low wages, and long hours. The majority of married and middle class women
were confined to the home, and deprived of an education and civil rights. Unlike the... Show more

As industrialization spread in Western Europe, the production of products and goods moved from
the household to factories which drastically changed family life. Married women were unable to
work unless they left their children and home in someone else s care. Moreover, middle class
women generally did not leave their homes in order to work. In contrast, the women of Eastern
Asia rapidly joined the work force after the introduction of industrialization and made up a
gigantic portion of the labor force. This difference is probably due to the fact that the rural women
of Eastern Asia were always laborers, and they make up the majority of the female population.
Additionally, European women generally preferred domestic labor to laborious tasks. Rural women
were offered independence by leaving their homes in order to perform domestic work; they
generally sent their earnings to their families or saved it for themselves. Moreover, the European
women that participated in the work force were forced to travel long distances and were separated
from their families from long hours. Additionally, their wages were significantly lower than that of
their male counterparts. Furthermore, women worked under poor conditions and were constantly
susceptible to disease. Similarly, the poor women of Eastern Asia sought employment in the cotton
and silk industry.

Japanese Internment Analysis
With the increase of military technology during World War II, came the rise of paranoia. After the
United States officially declared war, the government became concerned with the possibility of
domestic espionage by those loyal to the Axis Powers. February 19, 1942, President Roosevelt
signed Executive Order 9066 which allowed the Secretary of War to create military areas in any
location he saw fit, from which citizens could be forcibly removed. Viewed as a threat to national
security, Japanese Americans were evicted from their properties and removed to internment camps,
known as the Japanese Internment. With these actions, the federal government started the trend of
breaching civil liberties during wartime. This concept became a growing theme... Show more

President Eisenhower bluntly summarized the issue at hand as split in the world between
democracy and dictatorship. The federal government needed greater regulations to protect itself
against subversive threats, a precedent set by the 1947 Act. Eisenhower believed a security system
with both intelligence and research aspects was necessary to combat communism in the US and
abroad. The CIA filled this role as it began to take action. In 1976, the Senate Select Intelligence
Committee found that since its founding, the CIA spied on Americans. In other words, paranoia
regarding communism has left the government not only fearful of foreigners but its own citizens as

EXTREME GAMERS DEMAND PLAYSTATION 3 RATHER THAN PCs
CHAPTER # 1
BACKGROUND
1.1INTRODUCTION
1.1.1GAME CONSOLES
A video game console is an interactive entertainment computer or modified computer system that
produces a video display signal which can be used with a display device (a television, monitor, etc.)
to display a video game. The term video game console is used to distinguish a machine designed for
consumers to buy and use solely for playing video games from a personal computer, which has
many other functions, or arcade machines, which are designed for businesses that buy them and
then charge others to play.

1.1.2 GPU (Graphics Processing Units)
A graphics processing unit or GPU (also occasionally called visual processing unit or VPU) is a
specialized processor that offloads 3D graphics rendering from the microprocessor. It is used in
embedded systems, mobile phones, personal computers, workstations, and game consoles.
Modern GPUs are very efficient at manipulating computer graphics, and their highly parallel
structure makes them more effective than general purpose CPUs for a range of complex
algorithms. In a personal computer, a GPU can be present on a video card, or it can be on the
motherboard. More than 90% of new desktop and notebook computers have integrated GPUs,
which are usually far less powerful than those on a dedicated video card.

The Ethics Of Animal Research
Common Sense:
An Objective Perspective It seems as though people are often so sure of their own belief of what is
right and wrong that they stop challenging themselves on their own beliefs. From a scientific
perspective this does not seem to be a logical progression. In order to learn we must continue to
question the things that we believe in order to understand where our beliefs truly lie. Much like
scientific theories that cannot be proven have to continually be tested in order to prove their
validity, we must also constantly challenge our own beliefs to understand their legitimacy. Mylan
Engle Jr. s argument The Commonsense Case against Animal Experimentation in The Ethicsof
Animal Research attempts to answer the problems of animal research through use of common
sense. He does this by trying to give and objective (middle ground) argument against animal
research and points out what everyone would consider being inhumane treatment of animals. Engle
says:
My argument for the immorality of using animals as test subjects in biomedical research is
predicated on several widely accepted, commonsense moral principles principles that you no doubt
already believe. These commonsense principles are so central to our conception of morality that any
moral theory that conflicted with them would be rejected as unsatisfactory on reflective
equilibrium grounds. Since any adequate moral view must cohere with these principles, we can
appeal to these principles directly when making moral

Follow-Up Assessment
During the spring semester of my junior year at Indiana State University, I had the opportunity to
tutor two second grade students as part of my English as a Second Language (ESL) minor. These
students were motivated to learn and understand the material being taught. Upon being successful
on a follow up assessment, the students no longer required services for English learning. I know this
was accomplished through a team effort of teachers, aides, tutors, and administration. It was a great
benefit to be a part of this noteworthy victory.
Having much success with these students, I was asked to stay to continue working with ESL
learners. I was introduced to a student needing tutoring and approached this situation as I did the
semester before.

Critical Pedagogy ( Cp )
Critical pedagogy (CP) is after fostering a critical and analytical lens which may suggest diverse
possibilities of appreciating the active relationship between teachers learners and teaching learning
processes. Without thinking critically and working critically, the monotonous process of systems
may keep going. Human beings are not robots or machines to be given some instructions by a
designer in advance to run for a while in a routine and repetitive manner. They are ashamed of
staying still and stagnant because they may feel rotten. Everything in the world is considered as a
process, as all human beings go through a process to see reality from diverse sources, a process that
is continuous, changing, and unstable. They are not a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freire gave a new standpoint on education and changed the perspectives of stakeholders. He raised
the issue of empowerment, social change and transformation, dialogic teaching, praxis,
humanization, problem posing education, democratic and liberating education as the cornerstones
of critical pedagogy (Freire, 1970; Robert Freire, 2008; Shore Freire, 1987). In addition, he rooted
up the concept of banking model in which it deemed students as empty agents to be filled by the
knowledge of their teachers. The following attitudes and practices are the buzz words of banking
education:
(a)The teacher teaches and the students are taught;
(b)The teacher knows everything and the students know nothing;
(c)The teacher thinks and the students are thought about;
(d)The teacher talks and the students listen meekly;
(e)The teacher disciplines and the students are disciplined;
(f)The teacher chooses and enforces his choice, and the students comply;
(g)The teacher acts and the students have the illusion of acting through the action of the teacher;
(h)The teacher chooses the program content, and the students (who were not consulted) adapt to it;
(i)The teacher confuses the authority of knowledge with his own professional authority, which he
sets in opposition to the freedom of the students;
(j)The teacher is the subject of the learning process, while the pupils are mere objects (Freire, 1970,
p. 73). The pillars of critical pedagogy are to increase

The First Day Of English Class
I look the first debate judge in the eyes and he nods. Then my gaze drifts to the second one and
she smiles. Finally I look to my right at my final judge, he simply winks at me. I close my eyes
and count to three. It s finally time to begin; this is my time. These next three minutes everyone has
to listen to me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is,
why? Why am I doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake?
It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class
presentation before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However
fate was not on my side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my
little island of fear. The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a
presentation. I m a clicker, I mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face
softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s time you become a talker.
A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking
then of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how
true that is. All I can hear is my heart hammering away in my chest, my legs feel like they are
going to give and I m shaking all over.
I never opened my mouth when I was in grade school. I was the kid that was always reading. If
my head was not buried in a book then something was probably

The Hostility Between the Montagues and the Capulets ...
The Hostility Between the Montagues and the Capulets in Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet has a major theme of conflict. The main conflict in
the play is the feud between the two wealthy families: the Montagues and the Capulets .
Shakespeare does not state the reason for the hostility between the two families. Shakespeare may
have done this to indicate how long the feud has been going for. Shakespeare creates conflicts
between characters in the play. One conflict is between Tybalt and Romeo . This conflict is
interesting because it is between two contrasting characters. Tybalt is very arrogant and has an
aggressive attitude. While Romeo is quiet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Friar Lawrence provides another example of conflict when he marries Romeo to Juliet in
opposition to the authority of their fathers. This conflict is unique because Romeo and Juliet s
fathers did not found out about the marriage until towards the end of the play. This creates
suspense in the story. Sometimes there is conflict inside the mind of individuals. Romeo
visualizes where his destiny leads him to. I fear too early, for my mind misgives some
consequence yet hanging in the stars . This line shows disturbing pictures of Romeo s fait.
Shakespeare uses conflicts inside the minds to create mystery. Love and hate is a very common
occurrence in Romeo and Juliet . There are many characters that show a loving attitude towards
someone. Romeo and Rosaline love was not pure Romeo was just infatuated with Rosaline, this
all stopped once Romeo meets Juliet. Another example of love is between Romeo and Friar
Lawrence. Romeo and Friar Lawrence love is different. This is because they share a brotherly
type of love. Nurse and Juliet provide another example of love in the play. Their love is similar
to the love that Romeo and Friar Lawrence share. However the love between the Nurse and Juliet
is considered to be stronger because Nurse has nurtured Juliet since she was a baby. There is
evidence of this in the play. On Lammas eve at night shall she be

The Six Different Stages Of Group Development
Group development can be defined as a group of people work together. Group members are
interdependent. In other words, they build as a team to accomplish goals. Again, it is known as
team building. It is frameworks to recognize behavioral patterns of team and understand causes of
changes. Furthermore, group developmenthelps team to increase productivity. There are six
different stages of group development such as formation of group, initial stage, transition stage,
working stage, final stage and follow up stage.
2.1FORMATION OF GROUP First stage of group development is formation of group. In this
stage, group members feel delighted to join the group. It means they are eager to be part of the
team. On the other hand, they are worried of how to adapt themselves in new environment. But, it
is compulsory for them to gather together. Therefore, forming of group is available when they first
meet. From there, they build trust between each other. This is to let them feel they are part of
group members. There are few steps to form a group such as developing rationale, deciding

other well, it enhances group performance. Group members must have both high competence and
mission. It makes significant progress towards the goals. On the other hand, group leader should

feedback, it brings self confidence to them. Last but not least, group members must have enough

First off, it was really amazing to see all the different types of errors that can occur while using

article, Bowman states that one problem that can occur while using an EHR has to do with the
software system itself. She explains how software systems can have flaws that put the patient s
information in jeopardy because these systems can be acquire bugs and viruses which causes the
patient s information to be lost and/or deleted (Bowman, 2013). Other problems derived from EHR

The Rebellion Of The Romanov Dynasty
O n March 2nd 1917, the rule of a 300 year old dynasty was laid to rest as Tsar Nicholas II signed
his warrant for abdication, officially sanctioning the end of the Romanov Dynasty. The immediate
cause permitting this action was the success of the February Revolution however; this event
evolved because of several internal and external factors, both long and short term in nature.
Predominant among all we recognise the perpetuation of an outdated system of rule, the
repercussions of rapid industrialisation, emerging doctrines of liberalism, political inflexibility
and the vices imposed by the First World War. These factors progressively embellished societal
discontent among the Russian people and inexorably stimulated the insurrection of the February
Revolution. The means by which Nicholas II sought to rule as Tsar as well as his intrinsic
characteristics played a significant role in the occurrence of Revolution in 1917. Nicholas was
conservative by nature. His insufficient leadership tuition, brought about by his unexpected
ascendance to power in 1894, forced his unwavering reliance on the systems established by his
predecessors. Nicholas was a man of weak fortitude, his poor decisions and miscalculations
throughout his reign owe much to his personality. I pity the Tsar. I pity Russia. He is a poor and
unhappy sovereign...He is obviously a good and quite intelligent man, but he lacks will power, and

Woman Hollering Creek Myth Analysis
Throughout history, myth has taught lessons, explained phenomena, and perpetuated common
knowledge and thought. Myth is threaded into history all over the world, and along the border of
the United States and Mexico is no different. In Woman Hollering Creek, Sandra Cisneros
reinscribes myths that have perpetuated the patriarchy, breaking down stereotypes and the
narratives that we have come to associate with them. This essay will explore the roles of La
Llorona and La Malinche in Woman Hollering Creek and Never Marry A Mexican. These myths
are inscribed within Mexican American women and Cisneros combats these archetypes by retelling
them. The reinscription of these myths by Sandra Cisneros gives up hope that there is more than
just the fate of the mourning mother, the colonized victim, and the virgin. The first myth is that of
La Llorona. La Llorona is one of the most prevalent myths in Latinx culture. Although there are
several retellings of the myth, it is said that after finding out about her husband s infidelity La
Llorona drowned their children and spends her days stuck in between the spirit world and this
world, grieving their loss and searching for children to replace her own. This myth is often told by
Mexican parents to keep their children from wandering out at night, but this story reinforces the
notion of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Wealthy Nations Have A Moral Obligation to Educate Poor...
The most substantial and important ethical problem of the 21st century will be the correction of
the vast and undeniable imbalance of the possession and consumption of the world s material,
economic, and cultural resources. In this paper, I will argue that the primary long term moral
obligation the world s over privilegedhave to the underprivileged is to provide those in need with
the means necessary to develop a foundation for fair future interactions. This will lead to the idea
that a necessary part of the long term obligation to the underprivileged, in additionto the
redistributionof economic and material resources, is the redistribution of ideas and knowledge
through philanthropic educational programs.
The principle I will use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It feels a bit awkward to present an argument for the simple and intuitive conclusion that the world
s over privileged have an obligation to help improve the lives of those in serious need. However, I
do think it is helpful to give such an argument for two reasons.
First, simply recognizing that there is a moral obligation to fulfill leaves many crucial issues
untouched. The majority of the relevant work consists of designing and implementing programs of
assistance that fulfill the moral obligations which are recognized. Making clear the nature and
motivation of obligations informs the choices made in designing and implementing meaningful
programs of assistance. Stating clearly the moral principle on which I think the obligation to the
world s underprivileged rests will lead to my argument that programs of assistance must include the
redistribution of ideas and knowledge.
Second, I think that there are interesting objections to the commitment to such an obligation. I do
not think it wise to dismiss such views out of hand. Ultimately, I will dismiss such views as a
whole, but will allow their arguments to point my views and moral intuitions in better directions. I
will now consider two such objections.
Objection 1
I imagine that many of the world s over privileged who do not feel

Why Is Baseball Considered America s Pastime
History of Baseball
As many of you know, baseball is considered America s pastime. It is also widely known as one
of the most played sports in the world, with many different leagues that include the Chinese

Digital Imaging And Communication System
PACS which stands for (picture archive communication system) is a healthcare technology for the
short and long term storage, retrieval, management, distribution and presentation of medical
images(rouse). This system has led the medical field to be more efficient with all of their
images and organization of those images. Hospitals all around the world are using this
technology and it s only going to get greater usage and develop even better over time. PACS in
general, is made up of several different components, these include imaging systems, such as MRI,
CAT scan, and X ray equipment, A secure network for patient information distribution, computers
for viewing and processing images, and lastly archives for storage and retrieval of images and
related documentation(PACS). The first component of PACS is DICOM, Which stands for digital
imaging and communication in medicine. According to Margeret Rouse from health IT said is a
protocol that allows for the sharing of images and other medical information. DICOM permits
PACS, radiologyinformation systems and more medical imagingsystems to connect with and pass
data to systems at other healthcare facilities . This allows long term retrieval of the data and

radiology information system. This works with PACS to provide patient information along with
scheduling, and image interpretation reports. In my opinion, these two components are

Historical Information About The Lovely Bones
Historical information about the setting:
The Lovely Bones takes place in a small town near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The plot begins
December 6, 1973 with the rape and murder of Susie Salmon. As Susie herself says, It was still
back when people believed things like that didn t happen. (Sebold 1) During the 1970s most
serial killers and rape were unheard of. The fact that many people weren t aware led to the very
criminals living amongst them. Awareness to these crimes started to rise with the feminist
movement and technology. The inspiration to the setting in this novel also comes from where the
Sebold herself grew up. She grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and she called it Nowhere,
USA. She lived in some look alike homes when she was an adult and made the same design for the
setting in The Lovely Bones.
Biographical information about the author:
Alice Sebold was born on September 6, 1968 in Madison, Wisconsin. She moved and grew up in
the suburbs of Philadelphia. She many times called it Nowhere, USA. She graduated from Great
Valley High School in Malvern, Pennsylvania. She also graduated from Syracuse University in
1984. Alice was raped when she was freshman in college. She was walking through an off

Genesis Allegory
The Bible in the Christian religion is used as a guide and answer book to any concerns that one
might have. With one concern having in mind about whether evolution happened or not, perhaps
Genesis has a hidden message about this topic. In the beginning of chapter two of Genesis, it starts
by God creating the first man and woman and placing them in the garden of Eden. Godtold Adam
and Evethat they can eat from any tree and plant they want, but except the fruits from the tree of
knowledge. At some time, a snake described as the most intelligent of all the wild animals
appeared and told Eve that probably the reason why the Lord didn t allowed anyone to eat the
fruits because they will see clearly and.. will be like God, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3).
Eve, thinking the tree of knowledge will provide her wisdom, eats the fruit as well her husband
Adam. As a result, humanity till now suffers the consequences of Adam and Eve as same with
the snake, it was known as an intelligent animal to a cursed one. This allegory in Genesis warns
humanity about too much knowledge . For example, the snake was known as the most intelligent
creature, but yet it was the cause of the downfall of Adam and Eve. Eve disobeyed God and took a
bite of the fruit from the tree of knowledge, because she wanted to be like God and obtain the

Comparison Between Levitt And Dubner s Freakonomics
In Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner write in a colloquial fashion and tend to keep their writing
informal. For example, when they write, like the proverbial butterfly that flaps its wings on one
continent and eventually causes a hurricane on another the allusion to the butterfly effect serves to
engender common ground with their audience (Levitt and Dubner 5). Additionally, by using the
word butterfly Levitt and Dubner are able to create imagery which will help their audience better
visualize their simile. Also, when Levitt and Dubner write, it may sometimes feel as if we are
peering at the worldthrough a straw or even staring into a funhouse mirror, the words straw and

through which people view the world (Levitt and Dubner 14).... Show more content on

Analysis Of Venus Cupid Folly And Time
Also known by the titles Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time and A Triumph of Venus , this painting
was on purpose designed as a complex, erotic allegory that includes an extent of iconographic
symbols from the ancient world of mythology. It was a present from Cosimo de Medici to King
Francis I of France. Being rich and vivid in symbolism relating to the constituting ideas of the High
Renaissance, the painting gives Bronzino the opportunity to establish his maestro figure painting
and portrait art. Through personification of qualities and varying contrast and brightness, Bronzino
is able to justify that personal gains outweigh anything and everything that is moral. The picture
symbolizes the aftermath of incestuous actions. Venus is evidently present at the center of the
painting, recognizable by the golden apple in her left hand from the Greek myth The Judgement
of Paris. A robust adolescent male figure with wings can be seen entwined with her. It is her son,
Cupid. The undeniable sexuality of their embrace has long been debated over as scandalous
behavior. Rather than channeling the act of incest in itself, Bronzino exploits these two as symbols
for the personification of male and female sexuality. Whichever case it may be, the erotic narrative
of the painting becomes instantly clear. Venus, determined to get Cupid s arrow submits to dire
endeavors when Cupid refuses and tries to distract him by seducing him while she takes the arrow
from him. Venus and Cupid are painted

Latino population in the United States of America continues to rise at a steady rate, but the

Literary Devices In Ed Sheeran s Give Me Love Song
Knowingly or not, poems are either read or listened to each day, usually as a song. Poetry comes
in a variety of forms, but what many are not aware of, is that songs are also a form of poetry.
Songs are poems just placed with a beat behind it. They are made up with the goals to affect the
listener with their words and songstructure. One songwriter, Ed Sheeran, builds his songs using
several literary devices. At first listen to one of his songs, Give Me Love, it can be interpreted as
another love song. But after reviewing the lyrics, it can be noticed that he brings his words to life
through specific diction, a certain mood, and a theme to bring the words to life. Analyzing any
poem or song can give the reader a deeper understanding, or sometime... Show more content on

Theme is the story or message that the author is trying to send through his work, to the readers.
In this case, Ed Sheeran is trying to get the theme of this song across by the conflict in the
storyline, his use of epimone and the tone of the song. At a first listen to Give Me Love, it seems
like any other love anthem. But a deeper analyzes revels that there is conflict in his words and
heart. He starts off singing the first line of the song, which is Give me love like her, cause lately I
ve been waking up alone . It can already be brought to attention the he is in need and feeling alone.
The song goes on and he is struggling for the love of his partner. He says I just wanna hold ya
right after stating that he ll give in to calling her once he is drunk. In the line give a little time to
me or burn this out , Ed is asking for another chance, to give it one more time or to give it up. Yet
in the line it s been a while but I still feel the same, maybe I should let you go he is conflicted
within himself. He still loves her, he is willing to take another chance at love but he knows time
has passed and maybe it s time to move on. An epimone is commonly used when attempting to
make a point. It is when a word or phrase is repeated to show emphasis on it. When Sheeran sings
give me love repeatedly in the chorus, and shouts love me! at the end, it comes through as
despair. He constantly repeats it for the purpose of showing that he is begging for love. The
persistence in his voice is accompanied by and undertone of hurt and anger, which can also be
conveyed ad the theme to this song. That being said, because of the way he shouts certain words
and softly speaks other words, it gives the theme a very specific tone. When listening to Sheeran
recites his lyrics, the tone at the begging is very calm, sad and understanding, he is asking for love
again. By the end of the song the tone changes to furious and passionate, he is

The Moments That Changed My Life
In life we often experience moments that change who we are and how we come to be. These
moments immediately spark something inside of us and inspire us to change our future. As for
me, this moment did not transpire until my twenties. Before this moment, I gave my parents a
heart attack every other week because I was taking every class at school imaginable to try and
find my little niche in this world. Until that time, I often had a different idea of my potential self
every other week. I was constantly changing who I was and how I was going to get there. My
Plan A at the time was to become a rock star and my Plan B was to win the lottery and to never
have to worry about working ever again. Technically, that is still an option because you never
truly know. However, it wasn t until this particular day that I realized what I wanted to be.
During a seemingly typical day at Citrus College as I was walking out of the library, I noticed
out of the corner of my eye an elderly lady with hair white as snow suddenly fall. As I turned to
her, I was shaken by the distinct thud of her head hitting the concrete. This sent a spark of chills
up my spine. As I walked over to see if she was alright, she began to convulse rapidly. A short and
bald manin his mid forties who I thought was dressed way too nice for this immensely hot day,
started to shout, Mom? Someone call 911! The unconscious woman s son urged for me to take off

Fertility Rate And Age Specific Fertility Rates
This paper will explore the population phenomena pertaining to Singapore acquiring and sustaining
low fertility, which has ultimately resulted in an ageing population. There is a multitude of
interconnected factors that have contributed to Singapore s low fertility, and more importantly how
this has reduced younger populations being added every year. However, this paper will focus on the
premise that women s higher educational attainment has prompted a delay in marriage, and thus a
delay in having babies. Therefore, this paper will evaluate statistics retrieved from the International
Data Base from the Census Bureau Website that include the Total Fertility Rate

Fertility Rate in Singapore over a span of twenty years.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Age Specific Fertility Rate is contingent on the age of a woman and places her in groups of
women based on their age and then predicts how many babies each woman is expected to have
over a period of time based on a specific population (Poston Bouvier, 2010, p. 45). In Singapore,
the Age Specific Fertility Rate peaked for women between the ages 30 34 in 1997, 2007, and
2017. However, while there was a reduction in fertility rates for all ages across a women s life
span from 1997 to 2007, there was a slight increase in fertility rates in 2017 for the age groups 30
34, 34 39, 40 44, and 45 49 (Refer to Graph 1). While elderly women tend to have fewer babies on
average than younger ones, which is true for Singapore, the slight increase in childbearing in later
years indicates changes in the structure of individual lives and the society as a whole. This data
ultimately suggests that women in Singapore are waiting longer to get married and have children,
which are pertinent causes of the country s low fertility and ageing population. While there are
many societal and economic factors contributing to delays in marriage and reproduction, this paper
will focus primarily on the increase of Singaporean women obtaining higher education and
subsequently joining the workforce. In the article, Delayed marriage and ultra low fertility in

Hesitation, Repression, and Indecisiveness in the Love...
Impotent, pathetic, inadequate, timid. Everyone knows a J. Alfred Prufrock, and everyone has
a bit of him in himself or herself. Just like Prufrock we readers have been witness to the
pretentious triviality of others, the women who come and go/ Talking of Michelangelo (lines 13
14), and the lack of confidence which prevents the realization of desires. Eliot s careful choice of
epigraph from Dante s Inferno reverberates throughout this poem as the logic behind Prufrock
sharing his feelings with his listener. Just as Guido da Montefeltro is certain his listener shares a
similar fate as himself, so to does Prufrock believe that his listener is like himself, and will never

Death also signifies Prufrock s lack of social contact and sexual stimulation. The word etherized
not only means to numb, but is also suggestive of the word ethereal. Prufrock s repressed desire
can be seen in his frustration with the reality of social/emotional interaction and also with the
ethereal, inexpressible inner desire of his heart, not just to ask an overwhelming question , but
further, to say exactly what he means as in line 104. Unable to force the moment to its crisis
leaves Prufrock emotionally impotent. Unlike Marvell and his coy mistress Prufrock does not
have all the time in the world to malinger, stretched on the floor. Trivializing his message of
desire, as in the rhyme of lines 79 80 or referring to himself as John the Baptist only further
hinders the expression of his desire. And we can only imagine in Eliot s use of religious images
in which Prufrock wept and fasted, wept and prayed that Prufrock is fervently hoping for the self
confidence to express his desires. Yet after the social banter/conventions of the cups, the marmalade,
the tea , the porcelain and some talk of you and me Prufrock is still unable to seize the moment, to
turn desire into action. Presuming that Prufrock is largely reflecting on these issues himself rather
than to another listener one notices that he is unable to even mention his desires to himself, so

Dividend per share (DPS) is the total dividends paid out over an entire year (including interim
dividends but not including special dividends) divided by the number of outstanding ordinary
shares issued. As per a Reuter s article in April 2007, Merrill Lynch had announced that it would
buy back as much as $6 billion of its common stock over time, as it looked to return capital
building up on its balance sheet to investors. This meant less shares outstanding or in other
words lower denominator in the calculation of Dividends per share thus increasing the overall
value of the fraction which meant a higher amount in Dividends per share. The company
suffered the worst performance in its history as per the annual report of 2007. They reported a
net loss from continuing operations for the full year of $8.6 billion, or $10.73 per fully diluted
share, following write downs resulting from their exposures to the U.S. mortgage market in
U.S. ABS (Asset Backed Securities) CDOs (Collateralized Debt Obligations) and sub prime
residential mortgages and securities. Out of the reported losses, $7.9 billion were solely those
resulting from Collateralized Debt Obligations. Performance in 2008 The balance sheet of Merrill
Lynch for Dec 2008 shows the Interest income under Mortgage backed securities and Asset
backed securities as $ 107.8 billion. The net earnings before taxes show a loss of $633.03

Lipids
Fatty acids are composed of a hydrophilic carboxylic acid group attached to a fatty hydrophobic
chain of carbon atoms, referred to as the fatty tail. The fatty acids are classified as either saturated or
unsaturated depending on the structure. Saturated fatty acids contain only single bonds with
hydrogen atoms throughout the length of the carbon chain fatty tail and are therefore considered
saturated with hydrogen. The regular structure of saturated fatty acidmolecules makes it possible
for them to stack close together causing them to easily form solids. Saturated fatty acids are solid
at room temperature. Unsaturated fatty acids contain one or more double bonds to hydrogen in the
carbon chain. The double bonds create a bend in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Immunity in the U.S. Court Essay
The right to not incriminate one s self is established within the Fifth Amendment of the
Constitution. The Fifth Amendment states, No person...shall be compelled in any criminal case to
be a witness against himself (Davenport, 2006, P. 87). People may plead the fifth as a means of
refusing to answer questions about alleged criminal activities. The right to not self incriminate, is a
fundamental right meant to protect individuals from being forced into giving evidence that could
be used against one s self. This concept against self incrimination extended to forced confessions
due to Miranda v. Arizona. In the Miranda case, the Supreme Court decided that police have an
obligation to inform a suspect to his rights under Constitution.... Show more content on

In some cases this works in two ways. For example, if a defendant gives testimony about a
murder cases and says were they threw the gun, police cannot be asked to search for the weapon to
be used as evidence. However, if by chance someone independent by the government finds the
weapon and turns it in, the weapon can be used as evidence against the defendant (Davenport,
2006). The other form of Immunity is transactional immunity, which is absolute protection against
prosecution for any event or transaction about which a witness is compelled to give testimony or
furnish evidence (Neubauer, 2011, p. 466). This form of immunity is said to be the preferred form
of immunity by defendants, because the government will be barred from prosecuting the defendant
for a crime they were granted immunity (Davenport, 2006). Use immunity grants less protection
than transactional immunity in that witnesses may not refuse the government s offer of immunity.
In this case, accepting immunity is forced and is not a choice. In the case Kastigar v. United States,
the belief was that Charles Joseph Kastigar would use the Fifth Amendment protection against self
incrimination. The issued an order granting immunity but Kastigar and Stewart refused to testify
(Kastigar v. United States Case Background, 2009). The claim was that only transactional
immunity, which was not granted, would

Burnap Brothers Research Paper
As a result of the Burnap brothers great influence on him and his experiences at the Chester
Academy, Blanchard decided to attend Middlebury College, which was Burnap s alma mater,
from 1828 1832. At Middlebury College, he was very active in the Philomathesian Literary Society
and studied parliamentary procedure and learned how to debate. He also published, The
Undergraduate, the first of many newspapers he would start throughout his lifetime. After
graduation, at the age of twenty one in 1832, he became the preceptor at Plattsburg Academy in the
state of New York, where he worked to improve the education system and began a campaign that
advocated for the immediate end of slavery.
Jonathan Blanchard spent two years at the Plattsburg ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time he and Mary were separated, geographically, but they still maintained their
relationship, and as a result, his proposal of marriage was sent to her in the mail. They were
married on September 17th, 1838 in Middlebury, Vermont .
Blanchard was required to travel on a regular basis because of his involvement in the anti slavery
movement. His journeys provided him with many opportunities and eventually led to several
academic offers. In 1843, Jonathan traveled to London as a delegate to the world s Anti Slavery
Convention. The next year he traveled to Quincy, Illinois to deliver a commencement address to
the Adelphi Theopolis Mission Institute. From 1845 to 1857 he was the president of Knox
College in Illinois. In 1860 he turned down the offer for the presidency at Iowa College and a
nomination to run for congress. He did, however, accept the offer to be the president of the
Illinois Institute, which would eventually become Wheaton College. His wife, Mary, died in 1890
in East Las Vegas, New Mexico while traveling in support of Jonathan s involvement in politics.
Two years later, Blanchard died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 14th, 1892 in the home
of Herman and Julia Fischer .
Jonathan Blanchard became the president of Wheaton College in 1860, a pivotal time in American
history, as the Civil War would start just one year later in 1861. Because the war was such a
controversial event at the time, most Christian college presidents in the

Futility By Wilfred Owen
Futility is a poem written regarding the recent death of a soldier, and his comrade attempting to
revive him by putting him before God and pleading for him to save his friend. However, God is
unable to aid the fallen soldier as he is already dead. Outraged, the comrade begins to question
God and the reason why his friend was put on earth by him, only to be taken too quickly by such a
trivial and violent cause, such as war.
The theme of pointlessness of war was chosen as it is prominent and unmistakable in this poem.
Not only is it a strong belief Owen has displayed in Futility, it is also shown throughout all his
poetry regarding war, as he is a known advocate of anti war views. Specifically, the theme is
expressed in the second stanza, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the absence of God who is mourning the death of his child, the soldier. Although he
was summoned by the exclamation of the grieving soldier, as the phrase was a biblical reference
to his creation of Adam, God hides from the view of the soldier s comrade due to being ashamed
of his inability to resurrect his friend, as he is supposed to be almighty, when in actual fact, he
can do very little in the face of death. The ultimate mourning of beings across worlds, caused by
the tragedy of war, indicates that it is evidently an undesired cause. If the war was started in the
interest of benefiting the country and its citizens but is universally unwanted, it leads to the notion
of it being futile as it defeats its original

Net Neutrality Vs Open Internet Essay
Along with consumer advocates and human rights organization, many internet application
companies like Yahoo, Amazon, eBay, Vonage etc. support net neutrality regulation. Google
published a statement in 2008, opposing market power of broadband providers to control access to
content and other applications. They further compared the situation to that of the
telecommunication market, where companies are not allowed to control who their customers call
or what those customers are allowed to say. The Sites which favor net neutrality propose to have an
equal platform for every content on the Internet, in short they demand Open Internet.Net neutrality

This means that cable companies would be required to allow Internet service providers free
access to cable lines, like the model used for dial up Internet. They also intend to make sure that
the cable companies cannot screen, disrupt or filter Internet content without a court order. This in
turn would allow FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to enforce rules of net neutrality
effectively. Furthermore, Net neutrality advocates argue that allowing cable and
telecommunication to act as gatekeepers i.e. being able to control speed of loading of websites,
as well as letting them to demand a toll on quality of service would create an exploitative
business model and would also slow down innovation in online services. Further, they also argue
that by charging certain sites, ISP s may be able to block those who are unable to pay. Also, the
advocates assert that every content on the Internet must be treated same and must move at the same
speeds. Presently, the order is meant to set a precedent that all ISP s as well as communication
companies cannot impede customers from using their networks the way they desire unless there is

  • 2. Pre-College Personal Statement Pre College I was raised by two Asian immigrants, I spent most of my childhood with strict life expectations. My parents cared about pushing me to become a doctor and with that academic success. I rebelled most of it only seeing it as a negative in my life. That kind of lifestyle made me look at academics as a negative while games are positive. My parents did not have the same look for those as I did. That being the case, I hid all traces to gaming from them and only showed them my lacking academic side. I received okay grades, B s and C s, up until high school when I received my first A in a computer sciencecourse. Computer science became my passion. The positivity I received fueled my passion for computer science. The shift from being berated to commended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I loved that class. I did well in that class. It was the class I looked forward to after my chemistry and biology classes. I switched majors after that quarter to computer science. College I am passionate about computer science. Computer science is a field I can be creative and meaningful. I can create a program in x amount of time which can save people xn amount of time. • 3. Literary Analysis Of To Homer By John Keats Homer had a way of illustrating the natural world in exquisite detail. To him, the irregular shapes and bold colors that surrounded him told stories only he could fathom. No one could have guessed that Homer was blind. Every reader makes a choice to either read the top layer of his work and visualize what their brain desires, or absorb the creativity and stand in the middle of his flamboyant visions, not realizing that they have been changed forever. John Keatsexpresses how Homer s writing had a way of healing his own ignorance, and changing his life from the moment he read it. Keats writes about how he was most definitely not the same person he was before his exposure to Homer. The poem, To Homer by John Keats explicates the idea that although Homer was physically blind, he enabled a man blind with ignorance (Keats), to see the world through his literature. The first part of the poem explains Keats ignorance before reading, as well as the greek gods revealing elements of sky, sea, and land to Homer and then Keats. The first few lines express how Keats was ignorant because of him not understanding Homer s writing. Later he explains how he has heard of Homer, and how Homer wants to see, dolphin coral in deep seas. The importance of mentioning coral here is that coral is known for its bright colors and funky shapes, something one can only witness with their eyes, which Homer wishes he was able to. Then, Keats blatantly mentions how Homer is blind, but then says, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Long Distance Travel During The Era 1200 One of the most important effects of long distance travel in the era 1200 to 1500 was the famine that started in 1315. The population lessened due to the lack of food and even when they did have food it wasn t enough to stop their starvation. In the article Famine of 1315 it was stated: Four pennies worth of coarse bread was not enough to feed a common man for one day. The usual kinds of meat, suitable for eating, were too scarce; horse meat was precious; plump dogs were stolen. And, according to many reports, men and women in many places secretly ate their own children.... ( The famine of 1315) It showed how desperate people had become to stay alive. The food wasn t enough for the people to survive due to the grains that weren t nourished during the summer, so it caused the famine during the winter. People were stealing plump pets for meat so that they could have something that would actually help their survival. Some people have even ate their own children, instead of having another person to worry about feeding, they ate the children so they can survive. At the time it seemed to be survival of the fittest if you are on the vulnerable side most likely they wouldn t stay alive, such as the poor. Some of the poor had been laying stiff in the streets because they weren t able to feed themselves and no one bothered to help them because they had their own hunger to worry about. The poor was not even worst off, that would have been anyone that stayed in the cities. The rich ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why The United States Has Only Two Major Political Parties Final Exam Essays Essay Prompt 1: Discuss why the United States has only two major political parties. The United States government is commonly referred to as a Duopoly , which means that there are two established political parties, Democratic and Republic, and that these two parties share the vast majority of the political power in the country. This is because the United Statesfollows a winner takes all voting system, utilizing a single member district plurality . The single member district portion means that for each geographic area or district, there is only one elected official, and the plurality portion means that in United States elections, the representative or politician who receives the most number of votes, wins the given election, even if it s less than half the percentage of votes. According to Duverger s law, a Political Science principle, plurality voting procedures correlationally support the emergence of only two political parties, in contrast to a multiparty democracy. This is largely because there have only been two parties for so long, and these two parties have made it such a point to make their separation of ideals and beliefs blatant, so the vast majority of the voters have for the most part picked a definitive side , so to speak, and have registered as a member of the corresponding political party, that caters the most to their individual ideals. Because of this, it has made it very hard for any smaller parties to gain enough support to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Silas Deane Research Paper History is often said to be what has happened in the past, and a historian s job is to bring that information back, without distorting it. This undistorted passing of history is often times may not always be achieved, and the story of the death of Silas Deane is a great example of that The formerly known story was one of rags to riches, and back to rags. He was born to a humble blacksmith, who had high aspirations for his son, and sent him off to Yale, where he studied law. He opened his own practice and was very successful. Not satisfied, he entered into the world of politics, working his way up the ladder, eventually becoming a delegate to the first and second Continental Congresses, drawing the attention of leaders. He was then sent to France as the American representative of the colonies, later joined by Benjamin Franklin and Arthur Lee. He was described as ambitious and someone to be watched, even accused of using his position in government for personal profit. Further controversy forced him out of France, America, and England, ending up in Flanders. He lived there until the controversy died down some and then moved to England, where he lived in obscurity, resorting to drinking, and living in the house of a prostitute. His one loyal friend, Edward Bancroft, provided financial support for him. When he thought the coast was clear to move back, he set sail for America aboard the Boston Packet out of London. In the Amish perspective the test of faith is action so forgiving their children s killers with hours of death really shows what kind of people they are and is very inspiring. The way the Amish people responded to the killings was such a shock. One of the things I liked about that article was when they said that religion was not used to justify rage but to inspire goodness, forgiveness, and grace. Even members of the community visited the gunman s widow and parents. For the majority of us the process of forgiveness is a journey and may never happen so just the fact they forgave so quickly was viewed as emotionally unhealthy to many. Forgiveness has a meaning of not holding a grudge and the Amish were very clear that it does not make the shooter free from punishment. If he were to live the Amish people would have wanted him to be locked up but not for reasons of revenge but for the purpose of protecting other children. Most people growing up learn about forgiveness and have experienced it one way or another. People need to learn that forgiveness is an essential part of healing and is a process towards inner peace. Learning that forgiveness is an internal process where you identify the hurt and analyze the situation as well as your emotions helps you rebuild a sense of safety and letting go of a grudge. The whole process of forgiveness does not usually involve the offender, most of the time not at all until confronted. During the long nineteenth century, political revolutions, industrialization, and European imperialism resulted in dramatic changes in the role of women in Western Europe and Eastern Asia. As industrialization spread in Western Europe, women were no longer able to fulfill their dual role as a mother and a worker. After the introduction of industrialization, laborious tasks were moved from the household to factories and women were forced to choose either the life of a mother or the life of a worker. As industrialization spread in Western Europe, the production of products and goods moved from the household to factories which drastically changed family life. In contrast, the women of Eastern Asia rapidly joined the work force after the introduction of industrialization and made up a gigantic portion of the labor force. This difference is probably due to the fact that the rural women of Eastern Asia were always laborers, and they make up the majority of the female population. Additionally, European women generally preferred domestic labor to laborious tasks. Rural women were offered independence by leaving their homes in order to perform domestic work; they generally sent their earnings to their families or saved it for themselves. Moreover, the European women that participated in the work force were forced to travel long distances and were separated from their families from long hours. Additionally, their wages were significantly lower than that of their male counterparts. Furthermore, women worked under poor conditions and were constantly susceptible to disease. Similarly, the poor women of Eastern Asia sought employment in the cotton and silk industry. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From a scientific perspective this does not seem to be a logical progression. Much like scientific theories that cannot be proven have to continually be tested in order to prove their validity, we must also constantly challenge our own beliefs to understand their legitimacy. He does this by trying to give and objective (middle ground) argument against animal research and points out what everyone would consider being inhumane treatment of animals. The Rebellion Of The Romanov Dynasty O n March 2nd 1917, the rule of a 300 year old dynasty was laid to rest as Tsar Nicholas II signed his warrant for abdication, officially sanctioning the end of the Romanov Dynasty. The immediate cause permitting this action was the success of the February Revolution however; this event evolved because of several internal and external factors, both long and short term in nature. Predominant among all we recognise the perpetuation of an outdated system of rule, the repercussions of rapid industrialisation, emerging doctrines of liberalism, political inflexibility and the vices imposed by the First World War. These factors progressively embellished societal discontent among the Russian people and inexorably stimulated the insurrection of the February Revolution. The means by which Nicholas II sought to rule as Tsar as well as his intrinsic characteristics played a significant role in the occurrence of Revolution in 1917. Nicholas was conservative by nature. His insufficient leadership tuition, brought about by his unexpected ascendance to power in 1894, forced his unwavering reliance on the systems established by his predecessors. The majority of the relevant work consists of designing and implementing programs of assistance that fulfill the moral obligations which are recognized. Making clear the nature and motivation of obligations informs the choices made in designing and implementing meaningful programs of assistance. Stating clearly the moral principle on which I think the obligation to the world s underprivileged rests will lead to my argument that programs of assistance must include the redistribution of ideas and knowledge. Second, I think that there are interesting objections to the commitment to such an obligation. I do not think it wise to dismiss such views out of hand. • 27. Historical Information About The Lovely Bones Historical information about the setting: The Lovely Bones takes place in a small town near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The plot begins December 6, 1973 with the rape and murder of Susie Salmon. As Susie herself says, It was still back when people believed things like that didn t happen. (Sebold 1) During the 1970s most serial killers and rape were unheard of. The fact that many people weren t aware led to the very criminals living amongst them. Awareness to these crimes started to rise with the feminist movement and technology. The inspiration to the setting in this novel also comes from where the Sebold herself grew up. She grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and she called it Nowhere, USA. She lived in some look alike homes when she was an adult and made the same design for the setting in The Lovely Bones. She many times called it Nowhere, USA. She graduated from Great Valley High School in Malvern, Pennsylvania. She also graduated from Syracuse University in 1984. Alice was raped when she was freshman in college. She was walking through an off campus park when she was dragged in to a tunnel. She was severely sodomized, urinated on, and beat. • 29. Genesis Allegory The Bible in the Christian religion is used as a guide and answer book to any concerns that one might have. With one concern having in mind about whether evolution happened or not, perhaps Genesis has a hidden message about this topic. In the beginning of chapter two of Genesis, it starts by God creating the first man and woman and placing them in the garden of Eden. Godtold Adam and Evethat they can eat from any tree and plant they want, but except the fruits from the tree of knowledge. At some time, a snake described as the most intelligent of all the wild animals appeared and told Eve that probably the reason why the Lord didn t allowed anyone to eat the fruits because they will see clearly and.. will be like God, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3). Eve, thinking the tree of knowledge will provide her wisdom, eats the fruit as well her husband Adam. As a result, humanity till now suffers the consequences of Adam and Eve as same with the snake, it was known as an intelligent animal to a cursed one. This allegory in Genesis warns humanity about too much knowledge . For example, the snake was known as the most intelligent creature, but yet it was the cause of the downfall of Adam and Eve. Additionally, by using the word butterfly Levitt and Dubner are able to create imagery which will help their audience better visualize their simile. Also, when Levitt and Dubner write, it may sometimes feel as if we are peering at the worldthrough a straw or even staring into a funhouse mirror, the words straw and funhouse mirror create vivid imagery which helps the audience to better visualize the narrow scope through which people view the world (Levitt and Dubner 14).... • 33. Analysis Of Venus Cupid Folly And Time Also known by the titles Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time and A Triumph of Venus , this painting was on purpose designed as a complex, erotic allegory that includes an extent of iconographic symbols from the ancient world of mythology. It was a present from Cosimo de Medici to King Francis I of France. Being rich and vivid in symbolism relating to the constituting ideas of the High Renaissance, the painting gives Bronzino the opportunity to establish his maestro figure painting and portrait art. Through personification of qualities and varying contrast and brightness, Bronzino is able to justify that personal gains outweigh anything and everything that is moral. The picture symbolizes the aftermath of incestuous actions. Venus is evidently present at the center of the painting, recognizable by the golden apple in her left hand from the Greek myth The Judgement of Paris. A robust adolescent male figure with wings can be seen entwined with her. It is her son, Cupid. The undeniable sexuality of their embrace has long been debated over as scandalous behavior. Rather than channeling the act of incest in itself, Bronzino exploits these two as symbols for the personification of male and female sexuality. Whichever case it may be, the erotic narrative of the painting becomes instantly clear. Venus, determined to get Cupid s arrow submits to dire endeavors when Cupid refuses and tries to distract him by seducing him while she takes the arrow from him. Venus and Cupid are painted ... • 36. Literary Devices In Ed Sheeran s Give Me Love Song Knowingly or not, poems are either read or listened to each day, usually as a song. Poetry comes in a variety of forms, but what many are not aware of, is that songs are also a form of poetry. Songs are poems just placed with a beat behind it. They are made up with the goals to affect the listener with their words and songstructure. One songwriter, Ed Sheeran, builds his songs using several literary devices. At first listen to one of his songs, Give Me Love, it can be interpreted as another love song. But after reviewing the lyrics, it can be noticed that he brings his words to life through specific diction, a certain mood, and a theme to bring the words to life. Analyzing any poem or song can give the reader a deeper understanding, or sometime... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Theme is the story or message that the author is trying to send through his work, to the readers. In this case, Ed Sheeran is trying to get the theme of this song across by the conflict in the storyline, his use of epimone and the tone of the song. At a first listen to Give Me Love, it seems like any other love anthem. But a deeper analyzes revels that there is conflict in his words and heart. He starts off singing the first line of the song, which is Give me love like her, cause lately I ve been waking up alone . It can already be brought to attention the he is in need and feeling alone. The song goes on and he is struggling for the love of his partner. He says I just wanna hold ya right after stating that he ll give in to calling her once he is drunk. In the line give a little time to me or burn this out , Ed is asking for another chance, to give it one more time or to give it up. Yet in the line it s been a while but I still feel the same, maybe I should let you go he is conflicted within himself. He still loves her, he is willing to take another chance at love but he knows time has passed and maybe it s time to move on. An epimone is commonly used when attempting to make a point. It is when a word or phrase is repeated to show emphasis on it. When Sheeran sings give me love repeatedly in the chorus, and shouts love me! at the end, it comes through as despair. He constantly repeats it for the purpose of showing that he is begging for love. The persistence in his voice is accompanied by and undertone of hurt and anger, which can also be conveyed ad the theme to this song. That being said, because of the way he shouts certain words and softly speaks other words, it gives the theme a very specific tone. When listening to Sheeran recites his lyrics, the tone at the begging is very calm, sad and understanding, he is asking for love again. By the end of the song the tone changes to furious and passionate, he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Until that time, I often had a different idea of my potential self every other week. I was constantly changing who I was and how I was going to get there. During a seemingly typical day at Citrus College as I was walking out of the library, I noticed out of the corner of my eye an elderly lady with hair white as snow suddenly fall. As I turned to her, I was shaken by the distinct thud of her head hitting the concrete. This sent a spark of chills up my spine. Fertility Rate And Age Specific Fertility Rates This paper will explore the population phenomena pertaining to Singapore acquiring and sustaining low fertility, which has ultimately resulted in an ageing population. There is a multitude of interconnected factors that have contributed to Singapore s low fertility, and more importantly how this has reduced younger populations being added every year. However, this paper will focus on the premise that women s higher educational attainment has prompted a delay in marriage, and thus a delay in having babies. Therefore, this paper will evaluate statistics retrieved from the International Data Base from the Census Bureau Website that include the Total Fertility Rate and Age Specific Fertility Rate in Singapore over a span of twenty years.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Age Specific Fertility Rate is contingent on the age of a woman and places her in groups of women based on their age and then predicts how many babies each woman is expected to have over a period of time based on a specific population (Poston Bouvier, 2010, p. 45). In Singapore, the Age Specific Fertility Rate peaked for women between the ages 30 34 in 1997, 2007, and 2017. However, while there was a reduction in fertility rates for all ages across a women s life span from 1997 to 2007, there was a slight increase in fertility rates in 2017 for the age groups 30 34, 34 39, 40 44, and 45 49 (Refer to Graph 1). While elderly women tend to have fewer babies on average than younger ones, which is true for Singapore, the slight increase in childbearing in later years indicates changes in the structure of individual lives and the society as a whole. This data ultimately suggests that women in Singapore are waiting longer to get married and have children, which are pertinent causes of the country s low fertility and ageing population. While there are many societal and economic factors contributing to delays in marriage and reproduction, this paper will focus primarily on the increase of Singaporean women obtaining higher education and subsequently joining the workforce. Just like Prufrock we readers have been witness to the pretentious triviality of others, the women who come and go/ Talking of Michelangelo (lines 13 14), and the lack of confidence which prevents the realization of desires. Eliot s careful choice of epigraph from Dante s Inferno reverberates throughout this poem as the logic behind Prufrock sharing his feelings with his listener. The word etherized not only means to numb, but is also suggestive of the word ethereal. Prufrock s repressed desire can be seen in his frustration with the reality of social/emotional interaction and also with the ethereal, inexpressible inner desire of his heart, not just to ask an overwhelming question , but further, to say exactly what he means as in line 104. Unable to force the moment to its crisis leaves Prufrock emotionally impotent. Unlike Marvell and his coy mistress Prufrock does not have all the time in the world to malinger, stretched on the floor. Trivializing his message of desire, as in the rhyme of lines 79 80 or referring to himself as John the Baptist only further hinders the expression of his desire. And we can only imagine in Eliot s use of religious images in which Prufrock wept and fasted, wept and prayed that Prufrock is fervently hoping for the self confidence to express his desires. Yet after the social banter/conventions of the cups, the marmalade, the tea , the porcelain and some talk of you and me Prufrock is still unable to seize the moment, to turn desire into action. People may plead the fifth as a means of refusing to answer questions about alleged criminal activities.
