Introduction
Wide band code Division Multiple Access is an improvement
over the existing CDMA standard and it uses a 5MHz wide
radio signal with chip rated of 3.84MHz, the WCDMA
technology support higher bit rate which help to improve
thethe quality of service
to support multiple service each user should
have seperate channels for each service

UMTS Architecture
UMTS has three Basic components-

UE(user equipment)
-USIM
-ME

UTRAN
-NodeB
-RNC

CN(Core Network)

WCDMA Architecture

The UMTS terrstrial ratio access uses FDD as
well TDD for Duplexing

UTRA-FDD is called WCDMA

WCDMA uses DS-SS technique

Conclusion
WCDMA has many advantages like much higher
B.W.(3Mhz), high chip rate(3.84Mcps), high data
rate(up to 2Mbps), enhanced security and so on..
Thus it is the growing technology for
mobile generations
