 Introduction
 What is sensor?
 Need of sensor
 Types of vehicle sensor
 Conclusion

 Sensor play an important rule in our daily life.
 A sensor is a device that detects and
responds to some type of input from the
physical environment.
 The specific input could be
light,heat,motion,moisture,pressure, or any
one of a great number of other environmental
phenomena.
Sensor
Input Signal Output Signal
A device which provides a usable
output in response to a specified
measured.
 Sensors are omnipresent. They embedded in
our bodies, automobiles, airplanes, cellular
telephones, radios, chemical plants, industrial
plants and countless other applications.
 Without the use of sensors, there would be no
automation !!
 Coolant temprature sensor:
 Measures the temperature of the
coolant.
 Intake Air temprature sensor:
 Measures the Air temperature flowing to
the engine.
 Mass air flow sensor:
 Measures the Air Mass going into
the engine.
 O2 sensors :
 Measure the Oxygen in the exhaust
gases.
 Knock sensor:
 Monitor detonations from the engine.
 Crankshaft sensor:
 Measures the position of the
crankshaft.
 Fuel temprature sensor:
 Measures the fuel temperature.
 Voltage sensor:
 Measures the voltage.
 Nox sensor:
 Measures the NOX in the
exhaust.
 Boost pressure sensor:
 Measures the boost pressure.
 Throttle position sensor:
 Measures the angle of the throttle body
 Auto parking sensor:
 To measure near by distance to near by
object via sensor.
 Sensor play an important role in automotives.
these enable greater degrees of vehicle
automation and futuristic designs.
 A car engine management system consist of a
wide range of sensor devices together,
including engine sensors, relays and
actuators.
