Paper On Stress
Stress Paper
Steven Smith

Stress Paper
The main stressors in my life are school, and disturbed sleep pattern related to stress and hectic
workload. Some common coping mechanisms to relief the stress that I researched and found to be
effective, were, deep breathing, yoga, proper nutrition, and time management. These are just a few of
the many stress coping mechanisms that I researched and thought they fit best with my active lifestyle,
and interests.
The first of my stressors is school; school is a stressor because it is more demanding than it was in
past years there it is now asking more from me along with all my other responsibilities. School takes
up a lot of time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another coping mechanism for my disturbed sleep pattern is time management according to an article
from College teaching talked about a Research project looking at how students spend their time
between work, school, and social interaction, They had the students keep a time diary to keep track of
their day to day activity. It showed that most of any given day was spent on social interaction and then
working due to finical strains and the least on schoolwork and activities (Hanson, T. L., Drumheller,
K., Mallard, J., McKee, C., Schlegel, P. 2011). This time diary is a great way for me to see where my
time is spent and allow my to cut out or at the least cut down on unnecessary time spent doing things
that are not related to schoolwork or work which will allow me to better manage my day and get to
bed at a reasonable hour and not have to be stressed because all the work has been done in a timely
fashion. In conclusion the biggest stressors in my life are school, and my disturbed sleep pattern.
School is a stressor because it causes me to miss work, which hurts me financially because not only do
I miss work but I also use the money from working to help fund schooling. I found the best coping
mechanism to fit my life style was yoga because it has been shown to lessens the affects of stress, help
with focus, and confidence ( Rizzolo et al. 2009). Which will fit in nicely with my already active

The Debilitating Experience of Hearing Voices in One s Head
Hearing voices is considered to be a defining symptom of having a mental illness. The experience of
these voices can often be categorised as a debilitating condition that can cause an extreme impact on
daily life by weakening or disrupting contact with reality (Kalhovde, Elstad and Talseth 2013).
However, according to the Mental Health Foundation (N.D) this is not always the case as many people
hear voices but never find them to be a problem or feel as if they need to seek help from mental health
services.
In order for this assignment to be written, a visualisation was produced as part of the process. The idea
behind this was to create a strong focus on one particular aspect of a mental health issue which would
then allow a question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romme and Escher (1989) focused particularly on the idea of hearing voices and spent a lot of time
gathering research around this subject. They indicated that most people who heard voices had
suggested that it had begun quite suddenly, yet it became a moment that they remembered well
because of that reason. Many believed that their voice hearing had begun because of a traumatic or
emotional event, such as an accident, divorce or death or other events such as illness, being in love,
moving or pregnancy. These types of reasons are things that people may not experience everyday but
could be faced with at some point during their life time, suggesting that hearing voices is somewhat a
common occurrence and not as unusual as what society perceive it to be.
Various different experiments have taken place in order to shed some light on this controversial topic
and address coping mechanisms that are used in order for people to manage their voice hearing
effectively. An attempt was also made to highlight the differences between those who are mentally ill
and are familiar with hearing voices and those who have had no diagnosis of mental illness, yet still
experience similar hallucinations. Firstly, Romme and Escher (1989 cited in Kalhovde, Elstad and
Talseth 2013) introduced the perspective that hearing voices is a reaction to problems in life and need
not be a symptom of a mental disorder . An experiment was put

As mentioned in Appendix B PEST, the customer s income plays a huge role in selecting a product
therefore if they decide to bypass fair trade products because of the premium price they can hold allot
of buyer power, thus making buyer power in the industry high.
Threat of Substitutes: There are various substitutes for fair trade coffee in the industry such as regular
coffee, tea etc but not only coffees but in the general beverages market e.g. Coca Cola, Water etc. As a
result of this there is a very high threat of substitutes.
Supplier Power: Supplier power is relatively low as the industry is fair trade coffee. From previous
knowledge, coffee suppliers were being exploited and continued to produce. It is simply because of
the willingness to partake in fair trade that they have gained power. However I still believe that due to
the underdevelopment of the producing countries allot of the power still lies with the buyers.
Competitive Rivalry: Competitive rivalry is relatively high as seen in previous competitor analysis.
There are many competitors in the local market and on the shelf within the mainstream markets.

Essay about Dracula vs Van Helsing
Dracula reflects both Bram Stoker s context and his interest in controversial ideas. Use Dracula and
Van Helsing to demonstrate what concepts and concerns have endured and how they have been
represented in both texts.
JUSTIN LIANG
Dracula ( novel) written by Bram stoker is a text which reflects its English Victorian era context,
where gender roles were repressed and science and religion had a conflicting relationship. Van Helsing
(Stephen Summers) is a contemporary reproduction which demonstrates the same concepts and
concerns that have endured but evolved, and so they have been represented for the modern day
audience. The evolution of the concern of Gender roles and the idea of the new woman is very
obvious through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is armed, and ready to hunt the deadliest monsters of Transylvania, something the men in the
novel would not dare to do.
The gothic convention follows the idea that female protagonist needs constant protection and being
rescued by the male is still clearly incorporated in the text. Even though Anna, is depicted as a
beautiful and physically strong girl.she still needs protection by others, but the difference between the
original convention and the contemporary view is that she is not completely weak but not as strong as
the male protagonist, Van Helsing. This reflects the contemporary Van Helsing context.
During the Victorian era, The growth in science and technology was dramatic and challenged religious
theories. One discovery that is eloquently evinced in the story is Darwin s theory of Evolution, which
reflects the novels context as it was a controversial issue of the era. This theory is thought to be the
transformation of populations in the struggle for survival as the ones with the best characteristics will
be more likely to survive, and those desirable traits are likely to be passed off to offspring. Early in the
novel, as Harker becomes more uncomfortable with his lodgings and his host at castle Dracula, he
notes, unless my senses deceive me, the old centuries had, and have, powers of their own in which
mere modernity cannot kill Here, Harker states one of the central concerns of the Victorian Era:

Peter Senge’s Five Disciplines
1.0 Introduction
Peter Senge was born in 1947, and he graduated in an engineering Stanford and then undertake a
Master in Social Systems modelling at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and after that he
completed his PhD on Management (Mark,2001). According to Peter Senge , learning organizations
are Organizations where people continuously expand their capacity to create the results they really
want , where expanded and new patterns of thinking are developed, where collective goal is set free,
and where people are continuously learning to see the whole together .
The basic needs for such organization is that in situations of continuous change only those are
adaptive, flexible and productive will succeed. In order for this to ... Show more content on

In order to impose shared vision, learning organization needs to have flat, decentralized organizational
structures. Shared vision is usually to succeed against rival organizations, but Senge states that there
should also be long term goals that are intrinsic within the company (Boydell,1999).
(e) Team Learning
Team learning is the accumulation of individual learning. The advantage of shared learning is that
employees grow more quickly and problem solving range is improved through better access to
expertise and knowledge. Team learning has features such as boundary crossing and openness which
helps organizations to make decisions in an efficient way. Team learning needs employees to engage
in discussion and dialogue thus team members must develop shared meaning, open communication
and shared understanding (Boydell,1999).

The plague was a widespread epidemic that spread across Asia then to Europe in the fourteenth
century. In effect to this disaster humanism slowly ruptured, focusing on humans and their values or

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD, 1996) indicates that contemporary
economies are increasingly based on knowledge and information. OECD analysis is increasingly
directed to understanding the dynamics of the knowledge based economy and its relationship to
traditional economics. According to OECD, knowledge based economy is directly based on the
production, distribution and use of knowledge and information, and it is considered: . an innovative
economy, in terms of knowledge content; . a networked economy, in terms of knowledge presentation;
. a learning economy, in terms of knowledge social type; and . a green economy, in terms of
organization sustainability. This is also reflected in the trend in OECD economies towards growth in
high technology investments, high technology industries, more highly skilled labor and associated
productivity gains.
This study aims to propose a model to explore the relationships among human resource
management, organizational learning, organizational innovation, knowledge management capability
and organizational performance using structural equation modeling. The research participants are from
208 electronic manufacturing companies. The study particularly targets management level personnel

Digital Vs. Digital Projection
Recently in the world of cinema, there has been a great shift from the analogue format of film to
digital projection. There are many who suggest that one format might be better than the other. I was
working as a projection and sound technician for a major cinema exhibitor during this shift, so I have
some insight into the similarities and differences in the two technologies. Though I enjoy servicing
film projectors more than digital projectors and I have nostalgic feelings about analogue film in
general, it is clear that the digital projection platform is far more versatile and has more potential for
being improved even further in the future. Digital and film projection actually have a few things in
common. Firstly, the majority of both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern digital projection technology only relatively recently surpassed 35mm film in terms of
subjective image quality perception. Whether or not digital image quality has surpassed 70mm film is
still debatable. on the other hand, with film projection, the image is physically developed on film and
there is no resolution, or you can say the resolution is infinite. It s like trying to describe a perfect
circle by describing it with squares or straight lines. So, the quality of film images depends on the
process used capture, develop, and duplicate the original image. An advantage of digital over film is
that the projected image will always be the same across all digital projection systems. Since every
digital projector is fed the exact same pixel data, the position and color of the pixels in relationship to
one another will be consistent. With film projection, the image is physically developed on film, so
there are greater variations in image and color from one print to the next. Typically, this difference is
negligible and not even noticeable, but there are differences. The way the projected image is produced
on each platform differs as well. Digital projection is essentially individual 1 s and 0 s, strung together
in binary code on a hard drive, that gets interpreted by a computer into pixel data which is sent to
either three DMD chips (DLP) or SXRD panels (Sony digital). Each of the three chips/panels handles

This is why the current health and safety regulations and legislation are vitally important to both
employer and employee. There are many laws, legislation and regulatory bodies in place to ensure

The need for COSHH is to minimise the risk associated with hazardous substances. Most businesses
use substances be they substances such as acids or poisons to items like cleaning products or batteries,
all of these could cause harm to employees, contractors and other people. COSHH ensures these
hazards are known and controlled by properly trained people.
RIDDOR is a law concerning the reporting of accidents in the work place, this includes accidents
resulting in death of any person, accidents resulting in specified injuries to workers, non fatal
accidents requiring hospital treatment to non workers and dangerous occurrences. RIDDOR is needed
to provide information that enables the health and safety executive to identify how and where risks
arise and where investigations are needed to make sure health and safety laws are not breached.
UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the British government to assess the
competence of organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection, and calibration services. In

Inherit The Wind Essay
Inherit the Wind Legal Analysis Brief Aakriti Gera
Inherit the wind is a 1960 movies directed by Stanley Kramer. The movie follows the story about of
two lawyers who argue the case for and against, respectively, about a case where a science teacher is
accused of crime of teaching evolution. The Monkey Trial which takes places in 1925 has placed a
high school teacher on trial for violation of a state law. The law states that teaching any scientific
material; in this case, the Darwin s theory of evolution was prohibited.
The basic conflict here is the two opposing sides. On one hand are scientific truths that can be tested
and religious beliefs, which cannot be. Hence, it would be fair to say that this conflict goes beyond the
schoolteacher. It becomes an important conflict between blind, outdated faiths and the rational facts.
The residents of the city stand as an example of the conservative or the rural mindset that turn a blind
to new ideas. In the trial Cates goes to challenge the law and the outlandish norms of the Hillsboro
society. Even though every person in the town is against him, this does not deter him to continue his
fight and cause. Another part to be noted is the illiteracy of the town. An illiterate judge called Mr.

the person with different opinions but also for the people of the town itself. For example, Brady on the

the bible. He is so used to looking at the opinion in one light that even if he might be wrong. Hence,
the lawyers here are important. Professional needs to have a broad perspective to serve the society

Ethnic Nationalism Source Of Community Of Fear Essay
Ethnic Nationalism Source of Community of Fear
Nationalism, according to the most widely accepted definitions of, is the doctrine that the state and the
nation should be congruent. However, there is much more to add to the definition of nationalism today
in connection to the ethnic and civil society. The definition of nationalism depends on its context. The
typology of nationalism defines its strength and/or weakness of the relationship among the community
in which it s defined. While civil nationalism accepts people for who they are in the unique condition
that they accept the country s constitution, ethnic nationalism goes beyond and requires that the
community should share a common culture which can be raced, ethnic group, language or religion.
There are many explanations in resonating for why ethnic nationalism is an exclusive National project
(according to Igatieff). Despite the urgency of this issue, Scholars have until recently not addressed
the question of accommodation of communities regarding ethnic nationalism. This argument will
contribute to this discussion, by looking at the link between conflicts and ethnic nationalism. The
points presented in this argumentation will highlight the weaknesses of ethnic nationalism in modern
states. The argument will articulate these weaknesses by first looking at the genealogical roots and the
modernist origin of ethnic nationalism. Then it will sketch the relationship between mass media,

Losing weight, combined with sleeping in a chair, may have contributed to Lily having a suspected
pressure ulcer. Unrelieved pressure, from sitting in a chair for long periods, squeezes the tiny blood
vessels in the skin which supply the tissues with oxygen and nutrients. The tissues die when deprived
of oxygen and nutrients for too long (Harris, 2009). Older people and those experiencing impaired
nutrition are among the groups at risk of developing pressure ulcers (NICE, 2005). The Malnutrition
Advisory Group of BAPEN (British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition) developed the
Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST), (Perry, 2009). The MUST is a 5 step screening tool
to identify adults who are malnourished, at risk of malnourishment or obese. Lily s body mass index

a stagnated and outdated vain of research in adaptation theory, it can be examined from various angles
to achieve a deeper understanding of the source text instead of cutting up both sources only to fight
one other for superiority; in this case Zwaan uses the film, Midnight s Children, to expand upon her

The Problem Of Prison Reform
Prison reform is an issue that has been a concern for a long period of time. The problems that Angela
Davis brings up throughout her book are only some of the problems with the prison system. Whether
it be the influence of corporations on prisons and legislators, the role that racism plays, or the safety of
the prisoners. Her solution to these problems is the abolition of jails and prisons by creating policies
that will reduce the number of people sent to prison. This would destroy the prison system as the main
concept of punishment. The ways that she aims to do this is by providing physical and mental care to
everybody, demilitarize schools, and change the justice system to one based around reconciliation
rather than retribution. I find myself to agree with many of the concerns that she lists and believe her
argument to be somewhat convincing. However, I do not believe that a complete abolition of prisons
is what is necessary to fix the prison system. This paper will explore the concerns that she voices in
her argument, how convincing I find them, and what I believe to be the flaws in her conclusion. In the
beginning of the chapter, Davis introduces us to the term prison industrial complex . The prison
industrial complex refers to the idea that prisons are filling up due to businesses seeking profit and not
because crime was increasing. This term is important because it is a fundamental part of Davis s
argument. The transition of prisons from a government owned

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Owls
In my early childhood my parents always made me go to bed at 9 PM. They believed (wordiness) in a
common thought that the earlier you go to sleep, the easier it will be to wake up in the morning. It
doesn t matter how many times I refused, I was still obliged to do that. As time passed, it became
impossible for me to be in bed even by 11 PM. At this particular time, so to say, I become as mentally
active as never during the daytime and all tasks seem to be easier to solve. These types of people who
prefer staying awake late at night are called owls. Moreover, there is a different type of people who
prefer doing everything when the sun is coming up. They are called larks. What are other differences
between these two types and what can be said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not a surprise, actually, because night time means that people go to pubs or clubs.
Consequently, the desire to consume alcohol and nicotine is much higher and is less resistible.
Researchers who conducted the same studies, created a parallel between the alcohol abuse as well as
mental disorders with the novelty seeking. Novelty seeking, according to Wikipedia, is a personality
trait associated with exploratory activity in response to novel stimulation, impulsive decision making,
extravagance in approach to reward cues, and quick loss of temper and avoidance of frustration. The
same research showed that larks tend to be more proactive, agreeable and stable than owls. Besides,
larks are less like to be procrastinators. The study conducted by a researcher named Joseph Ferrari
showed that larks procrastinate less because they don t leave all the tasks till night. Owls, on the
contrary, do this and such a habit may lead to job troubles. A person is expected to do his/her job
during the daytime and if a person can t do it, the employer starts hesitating whether to keep such a
worker at the office or not. Because there are so many differences between there 2 types of people, it s
almost impossible to form any similarities. However, I managed to come up with one connection
between owls and larks. Both morning and evening types of people are active

Sesis And Septic Shock Research Paper
Sepsis and Septic Shock have been my personal topic after the life of young Kamil Williams and a 31
year old Texas man who both contacted a bacterial infection later turn into sepsis. Although I have not
formally studied it during my school or university years, I still find the human body, how it can break
down and react to certain ailments interesting. The next question would be why does this happen?
Well when there is infection or insult upon the body s immune system normal reacts and causing an
inflammatory response. This normally a good thing and it promotes healing and the resolution of the
insult, however in Septic Shock the inflammatory response comes explosive and uncontrollable.
According to Allison Hotujec, the author of Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock Protocols, Sepsis has
been called a malignant intravascular inflammation. The term malignant is because it is uncontrolled

inflammatory and anti inflammatory mediators, these balance to promote tissue ... Show more content

However, in sever Sepsis this becomes uncontrolled and the balance is lost this instead becomes a
tissue injury. The term intravascular is used because unlike the usual immune response, which is
localized to the site of the insult in sepsis you get stomach immune response in which inflammatory
mediators is transmitted throughout the blood stream and can effect numerous parts of the body. Some
have describe Sepsis as a disease but in my opinion, I consider Sepsis more of a risk group of infected
people. Illness and disease both cause similar sentiments of discomfort, torment or unease in
individuals. However, an illness is more of an intuitive feeling, which means there is no real

Mass Incarceration And Drug Criminalization
In recent decades, low income Americans have been facing the consequences of living in a country
whose criminal justice system is greatly influenced by skewed prosecution dynamics, and whose
structural discrepancies continue to encourage the mass incarceration phenomenon that affects
millions of individuals today. At rates higher than Russia and China, the U.S is incarcerating an entire
portion of its population based on irrelevant criteria such as affluence and race. The harsh reality that
both, poverty stricken individuals and prison inmates face today, indicate a dire need for systematic
change, and should encourage citizens to become informed members of society. As citizens have come
together, and government officials become involved, many reforms have been introduced and passed
which are conducive to a more restorative approach to justice.
Addressing every existent disparity in the criminal justice system is an extensive pursuit that limits the
exploration of pioneering reforms via overload of information rather than focusing on the systemic
approach that corresponds to one or two issues. I have chosen to focus on two major disparities that
are profoundly correlated: mass incarceration and drug criminalization. By exploring the history
behind each of them, and by exposing the constructs that seem to have taken the term justice out of
our law enforcement practices and policies, I aim to build a platform that will lead to the exploration
of current initiatives and reforms

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Selective Breeding
Selective breeding is the process by which humans reproduce other animals and plants of special
features. Typically, strains that are selectively bred are domesticated, and livestock is normally done
by a professional breeder, Livestock animals are known as races, while high plants are known as the
varieties cultigens, or cultivars. The offspring of two purebred animals, but of different races is called
a crossover, and hybrid plants are called hybrids.[1]
There are two approaches or types of artificial selection or selective breeding, The first is the approach
of the breeder in which the traditional breeder or experimenter applies a known quantity of the

Natalie has gone to both regional and national championships for her prowess with the baton and

Multidimensional Characters In Clifford Odets s Awake And...
From the pen of esteemed playwright, Clifford Odets, comes the drama, Awake and Sing , a play often
credited as one of the foundational pieces of American family drama. Despite being published in 1935,
nearly a century ago, Odets characters in this classic piece still resonate with readers today. These
characters, a Jewish family struggling to make ends meet in the midst of the Great Depression, can be
identified today in numerous American family dramas, as well as in the real world. Although Odets
characters frequently find themselves at ends with each other, Jacob, the eldest of the family,

Jacob symbolizes hope for humanity, as he is educated, and carries strong, idealistic opinions about
the world he lives in. Despite being the eldest member of the household, Jacob is treated as though he
is as juvenile as Ralph and Hennie. As the other family members berate him and invalidate his
wisdom, Jacob asserts that [he s] studying from books a whole lifetime (Odets 74). Through
compassionate dialogue and educated political beliefs, Jacob reveals his humble optimism and hope
that Ralph will be able to pursue a much richer life than that of his current situation. His knowledge of
current events and cognizance of the world around him makes him an advocate for political literacy,
especially for the younger generation. This idea ties into his symbolism as hope for humanity, and
translates into modern times, as young adults growing up in today s tense political climate feel
pressure to educate themselves on the issues, in order to make informed choices. Jacob s advocacy for
what he believes in also serves as a strong reminder of society s hopes that children will grow up
having learned how to stand up for themselves.
By passing on his wisdom to Ralph, and encouraging him to create a better life for himself, Jacob
symbolizes hope for humanity. Throughout the course of the play, he finds himself reminiscing about
his younger days, as he says, give me back my young days... (Odets 74), and in turn developing

comes to teaching. I agree as a teacher it is your responsibility when the kids are under your

As for a future teacher, I would have to disagree with the school s administrators on religion being in
public schools. When I teach my students, I would only teach them to learn and know the truth. I m
not religious; everyone has a different religion. I would teach my students the truth and what I believe
they should be aware not based on what they need to know from a biblical perspective. I m all for a
school to teach religious freedom and acceptance of all religious beliefs, but teach religion in public
school is not acceptable. If this was a Christian school or Islamic school, that is an entirely normal
thing to teach religion. I don t believe that public schools should oppress kids with religion. Especially
children that don t understand the religion and conform just because others show their belief.
Everyone should have the choice. Private schools, on the other hand, it is up to the school. Agree or
disagree doesn t matter to me. I think it s okay to teach about other religions, but not necessarily to
prepare them to become part of the faith. Like if they want to do more research and become a member
of that faith, cool, I don t want to force them one way or another. But I still think it s an important part
of history, and an important step in breeding tolerance, to make students aware of the basics and their
options I guess. Teach about it, not for it if that makes

Fast food only represents about five percent of restaurant sales, which means that the Belgian fast food
sector still lags behind many of its European neighbors. As traditional eating habits change with an

Fast food has been able to compete with other restaurants because of their perceived fast service, clean

The best sales prospects are products delivered to the home and office.

  • 2. Paper On Stress Stress Paper Steven Smith Saint Xavier University Stress Paper The main stressors in my life are school, and disturbed sleep pattern related to stress and hectic workload. Some common coping mechanisms to relief the stress that I researched and found to be effective, were, deep breathing, yoga, proper nutrition, and time management. These are just a few of the many stress coping mechanisms that I researched and thought they fit best with my active lifestyle, and interests. The first of my stressors is school; school is a stressor because it is more demanding than it was in past years there it is now asking more from me along with all my other responsibilities. School takes up a lot of time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another coping mechanism for my disturbed sleep pattern is time management according to an article from College teaching talked about a Research project looking at how students spend their time between work, school, and social interaction, They had the students keep a time diary to keep track of their day to day activity. It showed that most of any given day was spent on social interaction and then working due to finical strains and the least on schoolwork and activities (Hanson, T. L., Drumheller, K., Mallard, J., McKee, C., Schlegel, P. 2011). This time diary is a great way for me to see where my time is spent and allow my to cut out or at the least cut down on unnecessary time spent doing things that are not related to schoolwork or work which will allow me to better manage my day and get to bed at a reasonable hour and not have to be stressed because all the work has been done in a timely fashion. In conclusion the biggest stressors in my life are school, and my disturbed sleep pattern. School is a stressor because it causes me to miss work, which hurts me financially because not only do I miss work but I also use the money from working to help fund schooling. I found the best coping mechanism to fit my life style was yoga because it has been shown to lessens the affects of stress, help with focus, and confidence ( Rizzolo et al. 2009). Which will fit in nicely with my already active ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Debilitating Experience of Hearing Voices in One s Head Hearing voices is considered to be a defining symptom of having a mental illness. The experience of these voices can often be categorised as a debilitating condition that can cause an extreme impact on daily life by weakening or disrupting contact with reality (Kalhovde, Elstad and Talseth 2013). However, according to the Mental Health Foundation (N.D) this is not always the case as many people hear voices but never find them to be a problem or feel as if they need to seek help from mental health services. In order for this assignment to be written, a visualisation was produced as part of the process. The idea behind this was to create a strong focus on one particular aspect of a mental health issue which would then allow a question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Romme and Escher (1989) focused particularly on the idea of hearing voices and spent a lot of time gathering research around this subject. They indicated that most people who heard voices had suggested that it had begun quite suddenly, yet it became a moment that they remembered well because of that reason. Many believed that their voice hearing had begun because of a traumatic or emotional event, such as an accident, divorce or death or other events such as illness, being in love, moving or pregnancy. These types of reasons are things that people may not experience everyday but could be faced with at some point during their life time, suggesting that hearing voices is somewhat a common occurrence and not as unusual as what society perceive it to be. Various different experiments have taken place in order to shed some light on this controversial topic and address coping mechanisms that are used in order for people to manage their voice hearing effectively. An attempt was also made to highlight the differences between those who are mentally ill and are familiar with hearing voices and those who have had no diagnosis of mental illness, yet still experience similar hallucinations. Firstly, Romme and Escher (1989 cited in Kalhovde, Elstad and Talseth 2013) introduced the perspective that hearing voices is a reaction to problems in life and need not be a symptom of a mental disorder . As mentioned in Appendix B PEST, the customer s income plays a huge role in selecting a product therefore if they decide to bypass fair trade products because of the premium price they can hold allot of buyer power, thus making buyer power in the industry high. Threat of Substitutes: There are various substitutes for fair trade coffee in the industry such as regular coffee, tea etc but not only coffees but in the general beverages market e.g. Coca Cola, Water etc. As a result of this there is a very high threat of substitutes. Supplier Power: Supplier power is relatively low as the industry is fair trade coffee. From previous knowledge, coffee suppliers were being exploited and continued to produce. It is simply because of the willingness to partake in fair trade that they have gained power. However I still believe that due to the underdevelopment of the producing countries allot of the power still lies with the buyers. Competitive Rivalry: Competitive rivalry is relatively high as seen in previous competitor analysis. There are many competitors in the local market and on the shelf within the mainstream markets. JUSTIN LIANG Dracula ( novel) written by Bram stoker is a text which reflects its English Victorian era context, where gender roles were repressed and science and religion had a conflicting relationship. The gothic convention follows the idea that female protagonist needs constant protection and being rescued by the male is still clearly incorporated in the text. Even though Anna, is depicted as a beautiful and physically strong girl.she still needs protection by others, but the difference between the original convention and the contemporary view is that she is not completely weak but not as strong as the male protagonist, Van Helsing. This reflects the contemporary Van Helsing context. During the Victorian era, The growth in science and technology was dramatic and challenged religious theories. One discovery that is eloquently evinced in the story is Darwin s theory of Evolution, which reflects the novels context as it was a controversial issue of the era. This theory is thought to be the transformation of populations in the struggle for survival as the ones with the best characteristics will be more likely to survive, and those desirable traits are likely to be passed off to offspring. Early in the novel, as Harker becomes more uncomfortable with his lodgings and his host at castle Dracula, he notes, unless my senses deceive me, the old centuries had, and have, powers of their own in which mere modernity cannot kill Here, Harker states one of the central concerns of the Victorian Era: Supernatural, ... • 11. Digital Vs. Digital Projection Recently in the world of cinema, there has been a great shift from the analogue format of film to digital projection. There are many who suggest that one format might be better than the other. I was working as a projection and sound technician for a major cinema exhibitor during this shift, so I have some insight into the similarities and differences in the two technologies. Though I enjoy servicing film projectors more than digital projectors and I have nostalgic feelings about analogue film in general, it is clear that the digital projection platform is far more versatile and has more potential for being improved even further in the future. Digital and film projection actually have a few things in common. Firstly, the majority of both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modern digital projection technology only relatively recently surpassed 35mm film in terms of subjective image quality perception. Whether or not digital image quality has surpassed 70mm film is still debatable. on the other hand, with film projection, the image is physically developed on film and there is no resolution, or you can say the resolution is infinite. It s like trying to describe a perfect circle by describing it with squares or straight lines. So, the quality of film images depends on the process used capture, develop, and duplicate the original image. An advantage of digital over film is that the projected image will always be the same across all digital projection systems. Since every digital projector is fed the exact same pixel data, the position and color of the pixels in relationship to one another will be consistent. With film projection, the image is physically developed on film, so there are greater variations in image and color from one print to the next. Typically, this difference is negligible and not even noticeable, but there are differences. The way the projected image is produced on each platform differs as well. Digital projection is essentially individual 1 s and 0 s, strung together in binary code on a hard drive, that gets interpreted by a computer into pixel data which is sent to either three DMD chips (DLP) or SXRD panels (Sony digital). The movie follows the story about of two lawyers who argue the case for and against, respectively, about a case where a science teacher is accused of crime of teaching evolution. The Monkey Trial which takes places in 1925 has placed a high school teacher on trial for violation of a state law. The law states that teaching any scientific material; in this case, the Darwin s theory of evolution was prohibited. The basic conflict here is the two opposing sides. On one hand are scientific truths that can be tested and religious beliefs, which cannot be. Hence, it would be fair to say that this conflict goes beyond the schoolteacher. It becomes an important conflict between blind, outdated faiths and the rational facts. The residents of the city stand as an example of the conservative or the rural mindset that turn a blind to new ideas. In the trial Cates goes to challenge the law and the outlandish norms of the Hillsboro society. Ethnic Nationalism Source Of Community Of Fear Essay Ethnic Nationalism Source of Community of Fear Nationalism, according to the most widely accepted definitions of, is the doctrine that the state and the nation should be congruent. The typology of nationalism defines its strength and/or weakness of the relationship among the community in which it s defined. While civil nationalism accepts people for who they are in the unique condition that they accept the country s constitution, ethnic nationalism goes beyond and requires that the community should share a common culture which can be raced, ethnic group, language or religion. There are many explanations in resonating for why ethnic nationalism is an exclusive National project (according to Igatieff). Losing weight, combined with sleeping in a chair, may have contributed to Lily having a suspected pressure ulcer. Unrelieved pressure, from sitting in a chair for long periods, squeezes the tiny blood vessels in the skin which supply the tissues with oxygen and nutrients. The tissues die when deprived of oxygen and nutrients for too long (Harris, 2009). Older people and those experiencing impaired nutrition are among the groups at risk of developing pressure ulcers (NICE, 2005). The Malnutrition Advisory Group of BAPEN (British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition) developed the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST), (Perry, 2009). The MUST is a 5 step screening tool to identify adults who are malnourished, at risk of malnourishment or obese. • 18. The Problem Of Prison Reform Prison reform is an issue that has been a concern for a long period of time. The problems that Angela Davis brings up throughout her book are only some of the problems with the prison system. Whether it be the influence of corporations on prisons and legislators, the role that racism plays, or the safety of the prisoners. Her solution to these problems is the abolition of jails and prisons by creating policies that will reduce the number of people sent to prison. This would destroy the prison system as the main concept of punishment. The ways that she aims to do this is by providing physical and mental care to everybody, demilitarize schools, and change the justice system to one based around reconciliation rather than retribution. I find myself to agree with many of the concerns that she lists and believe her argument to be somewhat convincing. However, I do not believe that a complete abolition of prisons is what is necessary to fix the prison system. This paper will explore the concerns that she voices in her argument, how convincing I find them, and what I believe to be the flaws in her conclusion. In the beginning of the chapter, Davis introduces us to the term prison industrial complex . The prison industrial complex refers to the idea that prisons are filling up due to businesses seeking profit and not because crime was increasing. This term is important because it is a fundamental part of Davis s argument. The transition of prisons from a government owned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is not a surprise, actually, because night time means that people go to pubs or clubs. Consequently, the desire to consume alcohol and nicotine is much higher and is less resistible. Novelty seeking, according to Wikipedia, is a personality trait associated with exploratory activity in response to novel stimulation, impulsive decision making, extravagance in approach to reward cues, and quick loss of temper and avoidance of frustration. The same research showed that larks tend to be more proactive, agreeable and stable than owls. Besides, larks are less like to be procrastinators. The study conducted by a researcher named Joseph Ferrari showed that larks procrastinate less because they don t leave all the tasks till night. Owls, on the contrary, do this and such a habit may lead to job troubles.
