You have learned that verbs are action words. Today, you will be learning different
aspects of verbs. Before proceeding to the topic of the day let us first have a drill.

Look at the sentences in tree A and B. When are you going to add –s or –es in your verb?

Look at the sentence in tree C. What will be added to a regular verb when the action was done already?
How about in irregular verb?
Look at tree D. What modal will be added to the base form of the verb to express futurity?
The children seem alert and
cheerful.
An agreeable person makes many friends
What are the verbs used in the sentences?
Have them identify the subjects in each of the sentences given.
What form of the verb is used when the subject is singular? (-s form of the verb)
What form of the verb is used when the subject is plural? (base/main form of the verb)
How is the verb stated in the sentence? (being in present time)
What does the verb in the present tense signify? (It signifies action, being or state of being
in present time.)
Underline the correct verb form:
The carpenter (repair, repairs) our broken desks.
Good guardians (watch, watches) over us.
Active and mature people (use, uses) their leisure time
in worthwhile activities only.
Ethel and Grace (play, plays) the organ skillfully.
Everybody (honor, honors) a noble person.
Underline the correct form of the verb I each
sentence.
You (hear, hears, heard) the ringing of the bell every
morning.
My sister (enjoy, enjoys, enjoying) reading fable and
fairy tales.
The hands of the clock (move, moves, moved) rapidly.

  • 3. Do you take care of our environment?What activity do you usually do to take care of our environment? You have learned that verbs are action words. Today, you will be learning different aspects of verbs. Before proceeding to the topic of the day let us first have a drill.

B They will continue to inspire people of all ages. Look at the sentence in tree C. What will be added to a regular verb when the action was done already? How about in irregular verb? Look at tree D. What modal will be added to the base form of the verb to express futurity?

What form of the verb is used when the subject is singular? (-s form of the verb) What form of the verb is used when the subject is plural? (base/main form of the verb) How is the verb stated in the sentence? (being in present time) What does the verb in the present tense signify? (It signifies action, being or state of being in present time.)
  • 10. Underline the correct verb form: The carpenter (repair, repairs) our broken desks. Good guardians (watch, watches) over us. Active and mature people (use, uses) their leisure time in worthwhile activities only. Ethel and Grace (play, plays) the organ skillfully. Everybody (honor, honors) a noble person.
  • 11. Underline the correct form of the verb I each sentence. You (hear, hears, heard) the ringing of the bell every morning. My sister (enjoy, enjoys, enjoying) reading fable and fairy tales. The hands of the clock (move, moves, moved) rapidly. I (doesn’t, don’t) want to help that conceited guy. Every book and magazine (has, have) been clearly marked.
