There are three perfect tenses: present perfect, past perfect, and future perfect. The present perfect tense is used for actions that began in the past and continue in the present. The past perfect tense expresses that something occurred before another past action or time. The future perfect tense indicates that something will happen before another future action or specific time. Each tense has a specific formation using various parts of have, has, had and the past participle of the main verb. Examples are provided for each tense.
